Actually not as wet as yesterday! Guests just left and we mostly managed to avoid rain over the past few days and show off the Gold (Grey!) Coast!
I would love wet and wild jen, today we are digging a dam so I guess its good its not raining

the ad 8 is an extra ..... lickety has 162 words in his list and the ad 8 is the extra
got that
OK have ad 6
am7, am + your ego + c***, valise, then plural for am8
is there an actual ad8 cos the dictionary doesnt take the plural of the 6
no ad8....not in enable.
ty for am 7 and 8 :)
thanks gran now I have all the a's
np's, liz. not sure what happened before. *scratching head *
Just made me laugh!
have to go and take a photo of the progress on the dam bbl
I looked up on a list and there is a plural for the ad6 but the grid won't take it. I is frustrating when it is on one of the list but the grid refuses it.
can someone clue the I and O in the last column please
io6 and io7.
oi5
the ad 8 is the plural of the ad 6 ... but Dr_God us 4 an older version of enable than lickety does
Bab, can you clue it?
button, there is no ad8 in the grid. br is saying that the grid will not allow it.
just ignore the ad 8 ... it is an extra the grid does not have
*giggle* snap br
thanks
ty for io 6 & 6 :)
7 that is, sorry!
can anyone clue the io 6/7?
button, io6, io + **es, opposite of lives + wind direction, then plural for io7

button, not North-West, but *outh-*ast
got it, thanks
Ruby died during the night or early this morning, peacefully, I think, as she was in her normal sleeping posture. I can't stop crying.
Oh rubyfoo I'm so sorry. I had to put my beloved dog of 14 years down just a few weeks ago. I can totally empathize.
my darling, ruby. my heart goes out to you. what a shame!!! i had hopes she would live for a few more years yet.
Oh, Ruby. So, so sorry. Wish I could hug you. That's so sad, but at least it was peaceful and at least you got to celebrate her birthday. ((Hugs))
thought i might fade away, unless of course i can help with some clueing....quite willing to clue....
back for a second, but still crying. My friends are coming at 11 to bury her in the garden with the other dogs. Hopefully the ground isn't too frozen to dig
poor Ruffino is beside himself; he keeps trying to wake her up
hi Ruby. I am very sorry to see your news. I can imagine how sad it is for you. Poor little Ruffi
hugs ruby am so sorry xxxxx
thank you all
(((Ruby))) Very sorry to hear what happened..Glad your friends are coming over to give you some help & comfort.
Ruby, I'm so sorry you lost your friend. You are in my prayers.
Ruby, I am so sorry for your loss...
If you can have the midas touch..then why enable does not except 'midas' is annoying.
good grief - 12 minutes to find the word instead of midas
I am finding this grid a little tricky today.
just want to get to 100 and its a struggle - though I am a bit tired
Yes that is understandable..as it is getting late where you are, Lynxxx.
and a long day. Though I would hate Babble to start in the morning, I wouldn't get anything done
I need 33 words to find.
I'm impressed
being very distracted by "Would I Lie to You"
Maybe so..but i have only found one 8 so far.
I love that show..very funny.
there's 8's?!
reminds me of old radio show My Word
Is it the version from the UK or is it your own version of 'Would i lie to you'?
the UK one - we have lots of UK shows on our ABC (like the BBC), also have UKTV on cable
Ahh i see...Rob Brydon just cracks me up all the time..lol
word #100 was yo5.18 no def of course. See you later Zooz, have a great day
Take care, Lynxxx..see you again soon :-)
In fact thats the only 'Y' i do not have..damn should of asked for a clue.
Found it..yay.
yo 5 - hebrew word meaning days - glad you found it! Was trying to think how to clue it!!
Hello, Liz..many thanks anyway :-)
Hi zooz :)
100 - finally!
Well done, Liz.
finding this grid difficult :(
Listed at just over half way but haven't resorted to morewords yet!
Yo5 of our Chayim, new Jewish soap opera from NBC. : D
LOL!!!!
Me too..have drawn a blank on some of the letters..will have to resort to the list soon i feel.
Can you imagine the drama Liz? I think it would be a hit.
I think it'd be hysterical - Oy vey!!!
Did you ever see the UK show "Grandma's House" Molly? I reckon that'd be close to Yo5 of our Chayim!!!
No but we had a drama here years ago called "Brooklyn Bridge" about a Jewish family in the 50's which was actually quite good.
Don't know that one but if you come across Grandma's House, give it a try! Apart from the fact that I taught the lead actor, I just "know" so many of the characters.
That must have been fun to watch someone you taught on TV.
It was fun - He also hosted a music show called "Never Mind the Buzzcocks" for a while! The funniest was watching an excerpt of video on Grandma's House, from when he was about 12, just after I taught him.
You do have to be pretty broad minded to enjoy Grandma's House!
Grandmas house was excellent..i remember when he offended a guest on never mind the buzzcocks and the guy walked off..lol
He was a singer who went out with someone called, Chantelle i think..from big brother.
Yes I remember that too zooz! Glad you enjoyed the show - wondered how it'd go down outside the Jewish community! It's very very very loosely based on truth but the characters are very real!
Also remember when Amy Winehouse was on Buzzcocks with Simon - that was a good show!
Wasn't Simon insulting Chantelle - something about her autobiography?
I love his laid back approach when acting..also his dry sense of humour.
He was like that when I taught him - his English stories were great!
Yes i am sure that is what it was...but the guy just could not take it...i mean geez..he must of seen the show before to know you are at some point going to be ribbed...made great TV though..hahaha
Sorry for the time delay when typing.
soooo agree!!!! They started showing some of buzzcocks over here - but later episodes, when there were lots of different hosts. Actually, though I liked Simon hosting, think Mark Lamarr was better - or maybe I just knew the music better!
Did Simon present a music tv show ages ago..but lied about his age so he could get the job?
Maybe - I think he presented some kid's shows! Don't really know.
Mark Lamarr was funny...and he also has a great wealth of knollege on music..as well as being funny.but i did find sometimes i just did not get him..but hey ho.
Did they do a 3rd series of Grandma's House in the UK? We've had 2 here.
Knowledge*
No only two series, Liz..as far as i am aware..the co writer said it is unlikley to be a third series :-(
:(
I am impressed that you taught Simon ...shows you must also have a great sense of humour.
LOL!!!
Are British tv series always so short? (6-7 episodes). Ours usually run 18-22 episodes.
Also taught his 3 sibs - very different from him!
Yes, quite often I'd say, Molly.
Not the historical dramas but the comedies, yes!
I'm always surprised when I read the episode list for Downton Abbey, expecting it to be longer.
I would say more so today...not like years ago..say like only fools of horses..george & mildred etc
Concise!!!
I counter that with Fawlty Towers!
That's true. It leaves less time for rambling story lines.
I take it you have done a few films, shows, Liz?
Not sure what you mean!
I do think only fools and horses had run its course though..it started to spoil once they became millionairs
My spelling is all over the place today.
As long as you can spell the words in the grid!
lol...now that is a different matter.
Talking of which.i am going to list with 18 more to find.
I think I'm leaving it for tonight. 53 to go but I'm just not seeing anything, particularly the 6 / 7 / 8 words!
good afternoon, babblers
Missing 3 7s and 2 8s.
Hi sprite :)
Hello, Sprite.
hi Liz and zooz :) How's the grid today?
Not my friend!!!!!
Not finding it ea4
I have no emotional attachment to 7s and 8s
uh-oh, that sounds ominous!
But then again, everyone finds it different on different days!
hi BabbleRabble, good to see you. I hope things are a little less dark for you.
Hello, BR.
Hi BR )
The grid is nothing to be cognitively distorted about.
hi spritey
sandy! That is a helluva long time ago. How have you been??
that is a calming thought, BabbleRabble.
good, we have moved to a farm in Margaret River and consequently have been really busy along with our daughter's wedding which was in England
ok, as long as you were busy with good stuff, I don't mind as much. Missed you though.
Lovely icon, Sandy.
how are you, I know you went to visit Rubyfoo and she said she enjoyed meeting you and enjoyed your visit
Hi Zoos
Hi Zoos
we have a very good time, Ruby and her husband and me. Might repeat the experience this year :)
There is an extra word in lickety's list ... an ad 8 ... plural of the ad 6 .. if anyone is interested.
Many thanks, BR.
ty BR - useful to know that :)
oh, btw, if you should want to email me, sandy, my email addy has changed. It is in my profile, the new one.
Ruby had to put a dog down I think .... is grieving
I take it you heard about, Ruby's dog passing away.
Lucky you, I would love to visit her especiallywhen the Tour is on
BabbleRabble... did that just happen?
Enjoy your days, everyone - 53 left for tomorrow. :)
She told me about that, she loves her dogs , I know how she feels
I think it passed away in its sleep.
it is a lot easier for me, sandy... Australia is quite a bit further away :)
Take care, Liz.nice talking to you.
no had not heard. Emailed with her yesterday and both dogs were fine then.
Ruby posted about her dog at 3.16
ok thanks, will check
You too zooz
Ok sprite I will do that email I mean- I will send you a photo of the wedding the dog was a little while ago
Oh no, I didn't realize it was just today - she must be devestated - it will be her favourite dog
Poor Ruby
yep, found it. It was Ruby, her favorite dog. Ruby was old for a chow though, so she was fearing this day already.
Still not ea4 when it comes..even if you are expecting it..bless her.
Clue please for ad 8/50
At least she just celebrated Ruby's birthday in January - some small consolation for her. Good night all (for real this time!)
There is no AD8..licketty made a mistake.
no, having to let go of a loved pet is never ea4. Am back now, had to email her.
lickety has 162 words in his list and lists four 8. the ad 8 is the extra
So the total for today is 161
116 today, gran, yes
Correct.
Thanks
161, I mean, jeezzz. I have 116 left.
hehehe
*crosseyed sprite*
lickey uses a more recent version of enable than Dr_God .... which accounts for the occasional variances
I have had to go to morewords...first time in such a long time.
Sprite, how is your dog?
seems to be a challenging grid. Am not getting any speed here.
sandy, he is doing wonderfully. Still playful and silly, and so very sweet and funny.
I would have expected the english to allow a word like unsad... as in understatement for very happy.
Un`sad´ a. 1. Unsteady; fickle. O, stormy people, unsad and ever untrue. - Chaucer.
now there. Thanks, BabbleRabble. Good to know I am not the only one who thinks it is a word.
Unsad is in several dictionaries .... but apparently not in Enable
Enable is always surprising.
Maybe it is time for the newer version of enable to be used then.
JT is not inclined to update.
noooooo! Zooz, so many words we use now would no longer be accepted. All those lovely ancient obsolete treasures!
DrG wants to keep it as is, no extra work.
sprite, are you still finishing in 10 minutes?
Well we could keep those in too, Sprite :-)
lol sandy, that was never me.
oh please, zooz. I am attached to them. I really am. Ywis.
LOL..yes that tok me ages the other day to find.
Took*
it is one of my favorite words. It means for sure. And it is clearly related to an obsolete Dutch word with the exact same meaning, 'gewis'.
And fireworks for me...finally
wtg zooz!
I like orts ... every time I sit at a table I check to see if it has lost any scraps or if the scraps have been replaced.
well donezooz
:D BabbleRabble
Another dutch word i believe.
orts? No, that is not dutch, as far as I know.
oorete
morning/evening all :)
Hello, Smores.
hiya smores
morning smores
Ok time for me to depart..take care, all...enjoyed the chat today.
Bye zooz...congrats on your FW :)
Extra ((((Ruby)))) will be thinking of you.
*poof*
bye zooz, have a lovely day
Hello all. Sprite - orts is of Germanic origin but related to the Dutch oorete (orr = remaining + 'ete' = food).
chilly here: Fair -16°F 27°C
Hi Jac
hi Jac, thanks for telling me that, I did not know. I think the word oorete is obsolete here too, I have never seen it before.
That's not chilly BR....that's COLD :)
I looked it up, Sprite. Now we both know something new. :-)
:D All the things we learn from babble!
BabbleRabble, I hope you are using your heated hammock?
Nah ... just grabbed a blanket
smart move ;)
Just checked my outside thermometer and it's reading 4 deg. C but it's probably a degree or two colder than that as the thermometer is on the house (kitchen) wall.
14F here
here it is about the same as at Jac's.
I have 45 words left to find. Going to get on some chores and leave them until later. TTFN. x
bye Jac, have a good one
Bye for now Jac
Bye. x
not cold here but very hot
must be exciting, sandyloo, to build your own home exactly the way you want it!
well at the moment we are building a dam, then it willbe a shed ,then two chalets, then at last a house
we are also building roads onthe property and a horse arena
wow, huge too. Quite an undertaking, but you will be so happy once you can live there.
LOL sprite, you know my husband, we are living here already, we have some transportable buildings
How many horses will the arena seat?
hehehe :)
LOL babs
It's all very exciting
but at the moment it is hot and dusty
I can imagine. Hard work too, in that heat.
you would all laugh, we have a proper shower but it is outside, and we have a chemical toilet
gm, everyone! stats for the lone O?
hiya dawg
oi5,12
hiya, Sprite! thank you sandy
oh I would not laugh, sandy. I have camped out with a group where they had sunshowers. Black bags in which you put water, then lay them in the sun to heat. In the evening you have pretty warm water.
sprite, in a minute i wil be going outside to get naked -belive me you would laugh!! it is a proper hot shower however
not bad at all, sandy! We had to use those bags outside as well. Being able to shower is worth the trouble.
hey guys :) i'm back from holiday
wb Rows. How was your holiday?
you have not lived untill you have tried a hillbilly swimming pool ladies
thanks! it was great
hi crossy, what is a hillbilly swimming pool
in that case, count me as dead, crossy
my best friend came to visit me, and we went to Hong Kong, Macau, and Hangzhou together
lol...I remember sunshowers
we both got a little bit sick so a couple of days were lost due to that, but otherwise it was wonderful
wow, exciting trip, Rows
a hillbilly swimming pool is when you take a large tarp ,line the bed of a pick up truck with it and fill her up with water
yeah it was awesome - i LOVE macau
eat or drink something wrong, Rows?
Rows, I have been to Macau and hong kong- I loved them and I loved the food in hong kong
ate* or drank*
*coming up for air* Hi rows, welcome back! hi smores, hi crossy
ah, would work for me, crossy.
must've done, though i got the stomach bug this week, not while my friend was here
howdy lbd
we both got colds, though, it seems
Crossy you have had a colourful existence no doubt
thanks dawger, hi :)
hi dawg :)
sandy,you have no idea:))
traveling amongst all those people...germs, bugs, viruses...bound to catch a little something extra. glad it didn't wipe out your whole trip, rows
time to get smoresette off to school, be back in a bit :)
yeah, though the stomach thing postponed me starting work again for 2 days
okay, see you soon smores
where were you travelling rows?
bye smores, see you soon
went to Hong Kong, Macau, and Hangzhou on my holiday
Hangzhou is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from me, though, while the other two required farther travel
oh my, the robot ending is used too
Crossy, you better write a novel then and sell it on ebay for all of us to read
se 8/50
you will get the first copy sandy
is that a robot ending as well, BabbleRabble?
yes
thank you. I just found the my.
part of it
ah got it, thanks again. Will look it up. Looks like it should mean "Open the door-ish" but I bet it is something totally different.
haha robot ending... nice clue
did you find the my beast of burden sort of
Rows, it has become part of the babble lingo :)
I will be honoured Crossy, I hope it's not too racy for innocent me tho!
thanks sprite and BR
lol i totally got the se 8 based on that clue, sprite
yes, Ms are clear now.
wtg Rows!
that was awesome
lol... def: of or relating to various small bones formed in tendons, such as the patella , or cartilages, esp those of the nose.
Hello, everyone!
hi Mimi. Was wondering if you were up and about :)
hi mimi
{{sprite}} Yep...got a big day at the new job today!
hi mimi
Hi, sandy!
am rooting for you, Mimi
(Rows)
ooh, what's your new job?
You're such a great support, sprite!
I'm selling Ameriplan healthcare benefits. Work at home, which is nice, and the earning potential is tremendous.
I simply care, Mimi, that's all :)
Hey, I'm in the grid today! Must be a sign!
you are! See, times are a-changing.
nice, Mimi :)
I'm blocking all negative energy today and going to focus on the positive.
jia you!
good going, Mimi. Get the juices flowing :D
Got up a little earlier than I wanted this morning. My Dodger cat just mercilessly bugged me to be fed until I couldn't go back to sleep. Hate when he does that!
he knew you had a big day and he wanted you to have all the time you need
that's why you should get an automatic feeder :P
Good morning all..a few minutes to babble before work!
se 8 also is involved in the tendon formed in the pisiform. Of course, the pisiform is a small bone on the ulnar side of the carpus in man and many mammals.
hi Jjill :)
I could do that with the dry food, Rows, but I give them canned wet food once in the morning and once in the evening...that's what he wants.
Sprite, saw your FB post...when are you going to Austria and whatcha doing there?
((Jilly))
morning jill
oh I remember the pisiform. It is the peashaped bone at the bottom pinky side of your handpalm.
Fabulous clue, BR!
Oh Jjill, didn't you get my message? Must look you up and send it.
Sprite, what's this about Austria?!!
hi br, jilly, mimi
Hey there, dawg!
((Dawg))
lol... indeed. I am going to Austria for 8 months.
wow, it's got to be cold there right now
Tell me the joke later.
but i guess in a couple months or so it'll get nicer
nah, don't worry. It is a special message. It is not true.
OK---I was feeling oddly left out of the loop!
How right you are, sprite: http://tinyurl.com/bgpbhzp
Ahhh...I think I know what is going on...will check FB later sprite...
Jjill... does your last name start with D?
I remember from the physiology lessons, BabbleRabble. Glad some part of the brain still works :)
I thought it meant a youngster acting out
Well, must head off to work...hagd all!
have a good day, jill!
Oh, and yes sprite....
i think i hit the wall...bbl to finish. hagd!
Bye Jjill, I have resent the message to you :)
bye dawg, have a good one
Bye Jilly and dawg!
i'm trying to decide if it's the right choice for me to go out at 9:30 at night for a massage, or if i should just stay in
would work for me, BabbleRabble.
it's a 5 min walk away and only 58 yuan
go for the massage, Rows. It will do you good.
Stay put, Rows. How was Hong Kong?
lol
Hong Kong was nice... very crowded, but nice and warm, and we had a clear, sunny day our last day there
Great. I'm soooo envious!
well then take a trip there :)
If only I could. There are so very many places I'd love to see. Finances don't permit.
Chevy Chase did trips
they will in time, Mimi. Keep the dreams alive.
well, you've got a new job, just work at it for a bit and save, make travel a priority
Those trips I could easily manage, BR!
I trip a lot. Over my own feet, usually.
:)
Sounds like a plan, Rows! I especially want to make a trip to The Netherlands........
Mimi, I sent you the message through email. Don't think you and me are connected on FB yet.
i mean, unless you have a family to take care of, in which case, you can still do it, it's just more complicated
you definitely should!
:) You'd be very welcome here.
I rarely use FB, sprite...not crazy about it. But guess I'll be posting the new business venture there.
I'd really love to do a culinary tour of Italy---start eating at the top and end up at the bottom!!
i've realised there's not much other than travel that i really want to prioritize my time and money for at this point in my life... i've pretty much never travelled anywhere and later regretted it
i'm going to Malaysia next week for a weekend getaway :)
It's the one big regret I have in life, Rows. Just wasn't able to manage it. Maybe I can get in a couple of trips one day, though. Wow---Malaysia. I'm so envious I'm positive GREEN.
you're not dead yet!
no need to regret
the trip to the fun spot of southeast asia cured me of the little spirit of adventure I previously had.
Would love to see New Zealand, Tibet, Greece, Paris...the list goes on and on. No, I'm not dead but almost was last year---had a heart attack. Made me realize I'd better get around to many things now.
Different time....wrong place, BR.
*hugs BabbleRabble* That was, no pun intended, a bad trip.
Hi again all :)
wb smores... smorette safely dropped?
{smores}
yep
why do you say that, BR? what was so bad about your trip?
wb smores
{Mimi} how are you?
war zone
He's talking about Vietnam, Rows.
ohh
{BR} thank you
gotcha - well, i'm going to Kuala Lumpur, which is not at all a war zone at the moment, and i'll be exploring some pretty sights as well as dancing my ass off
Not exactly a pleasure cruise.
so i should have an okay time
Busy with the new job, smores. There's no selling to this job---the plan really sells itself. Sold one yesterday.
nope, especially if it leaves you scarred for life.
The Bachelor goes to Thailand next week----can't wait to see the footage.
that's another one on my list of places to see before i move away from Asia
Is anyone else hooked on that stupid show? I picked all the finalists from the beginning! Wow, I'm good.....
lol...no Mimi watched part of the 1st season...couldn't get into it
Rows, I would love to visit China but I'm a bit intimidated by the thought. Should I be?
lol, sorry, but i am hooked on So You Think You Can Dance, whenever it's on... just started watching the China version of it
Congrats of the job Mimi :)
TY, smores. Did you get my email?
sorry, I'm really bad at checking emails...promise I will look today
ugh...I am now feeling stuffed and guilty...just had cheesecake for breakfast
nice
Shame, smores! That's how I am about FB--check a couple of times a month. Cheesecake for breakfast---atta girl!
i'd have done the same, given the opportunity, lol
i had brownies for breakfast a few days ago
I found a great breakfast product. Special K frozen breakfast sandwiches. Outstandingly good, easy to make and not many calories.
forget the guilt, smores. you did it, so enjoy it!
i generally don't eat breakfast :/
smore, I mistook you for smoove: A science writer working at the American Museum of Natural History.
lol...I made one last night and as you know they are sooo much better the next day.
Going to have one in a few minutes. Speaking of which, gotta get breakfast and then down to work. Loving this job.
I only do breakfast if it's easy. Not up for a challenge in the morning. Would rather sleep than eat most of the time but my Dodger won't allow it!
Ahh...I understand nw BR...don't think I've "met" smoove
yeah, that's the case for me too - having to be at work at 8 isn't too conducive to eating breakfast, unless it's something i can grab on my way out and then eat at my desk when i get to work
gotta eat at least a little something Rows
usually i don't eat until noon
I know it's cliche' but it really is the most important meal
I used to skip breakfast altogether but I've found it is beneficial to my functioning to have something, especially protein, for breakfast.
yeah... i just need to find more easy options for things i can just grab in the morning and take with me
Definatly
Do you like yogurt Rows?
i used to have yogurt for breakfast, but in the winter it doesn't seem appealing to eat for some reason, maybe cos it's cold?
I often have pizza and ice cream for breakfast
:) love it BR
I'll think up some easy things you can make up and take with you, Rows. Give me a couple of days.
lol i'll probably have pizza tomorrow... it's what i got for dinner tonight and i only ate two slices
cold pizza? I love that.
still working up my appetite again from the stomach bug, though
ok mimi :)
Yay---it's raining here!! Love that....it's going to be a good day for me. We're in a 10-year drought here in Arizona so the rain makes a huge difference. I adore thunderstorms.
lol i just found nemo's friend
I usually have a healthy breakfast, that's why I felt guilty this morning
lol Rows
smores, guilt is a waste of energy and of a lovely breakfast
wow, i can't imagine living somewhere where i would be happy to see rain...
mimi I adore rain and storms and now with 4 left I must go to bed nite all
night night sandy. Lovely to have you back here!
Nite, sandy!
Yeah, I'm over it :) just have to eat healthy the rest of the day
though thunderstorms are lovely
goodnight sandy!
good :)
Bye Sandy...sleep well :)
whiteouts are more interesting than rain
I know, Rows, so many tell me that. But when you've lived in the desert for 30 years you really miss the rain. BTW, Rows, do you have a good selection of frozen food in China?
mmmm,breakfast....
not much, apart from frozen dumplings or wontons, maybe some bad Chinese ice cream...
Speaking of which, BR, do you know how you can tell if someone has a blonde as a secretary? The whiteout on the computer screen.....
Yes, BR, they are, as long as you aren't out in one
<-- loves thunderstorms too, but rain... nah. Not really.
((crossy)) Oh, yeah, bacon, right?
bacon may be a part of it yes:)))
hi all
have to keep my nitrite levels up
hi medusa
howdy medusa
hiya medusa :)
Hi, medusa!
actually all my bacon comes from a local farm and is not loaded with chemicals
hi Rows, crossy, sprite and mimi
What about peanut butter Rows? If I'm in a hurry (and out of yogurt) I have multigrain toast and pb in the morning, quick and healthy :)
Hey medusa :)
Now I gotta go and get ready for my business calls. have a good one, all, and hugs all around.
Hi crossy :)
lol i'm so lazy, i won't get up early enough to make toast... plus i can't have gluten
Hello, medusa. Do you have a charitable foundation for the blind?
howdy smores
have a great day, mimi!
{{Mimi}} bye...have a woderful day :)
bye Mimi, have a good one!
hi br. yes we do. its call rnib
*wonderful that's is :)
ttfn mimi
we have CNIB and they have been an amazing help for the mrs over the years
thats good crossy
mime
oops
TY medusa,lol
welcome shorty
quid
problem is people out there no longer seem to care or respect the white cane.i have to be the blocker for the mrs as people are so me,me,me that they will just cut her off or knock her over in the grocery store.especially during ski season and the citiots are migrating
hi shorty, lol
fair swap there shorty! lol
opps so look what i did
what is the white cane?
it is a cane used by the blind or nearly blind to aid in movemnt
right rofl
oh i see
that is awful, crossy! Am glad things aren't that bad here yet. Most people take care of people with a white cane.
no pun intended...
i always move for people less fortunate. some people are just so ignorant!
i don't see those here... but i think blind people here are generally shunned and kept at home and/or turned into beggars
sadly
in the case of my wife, with her vision at 20/400,she has no way to gague distance or depth perception so the cane is usefull in determining depth of curbs to the street angle of sidewalks stair risers etc
Good morning, loves!
howdy judi
that is awful crossy, thankfully I haven't witnessed that here either
any kind of physical imperfection in a child will make the family lose face, basically, or at least just make the parents upset that they had "bad luck," since they can only have one child
hi Judi
hi judi
that is sad, rows, says a lot about the country itself
so different from here, Rows. So much harder.
thats so sad rows
Wow, Rows, forgotabout that
it's a cultural thing, combined with the fact that the population has created necessity for the one-child-policy
so pretty much any blind people i see are beggars
not to say your wife is lucky, but should be glad to live somewhere that's a little easier on her than China would be
My grandparents (mothers parents) were both blind
most places are easier that that
well, they walk over the poor and lame in india as well
many developing or undeveloped countries treat people similarly
China is still a 2nd world country
Both incredible and very prductive people. Unfortunately, I never met my grandfather, he passed before I was born. My grandmother took care of me while mom was at work. Never could get anything by on her :)
my friend had to go back to new deli for the funeral of his brother.he stayed at a 4 star hyatt while there.right across the road is a parking lot and when the last cars are out at 6 pm the owner puts out 100-200 army cots and rents them to the poor.they can stay till 6 am the next day they they are kicked out and the cots folded up in preperation for parking of cars for people who work in the business secion some have lived this way for 20 years and it costs them 50 dollars a month roughly
bet she had ears like radar dishes;))
wow, that's both awesome and sad at the same time, cross
seems a tin shanty place is 75 a month
Ekkk, agree Rows
may I please have a clue for the sa8?
$50 a month seems pretty steep
yup the business people walk right over them in their 3000 dollar armani suits
Oh and yes she did crossy :)
Sorry sprite...don't have it
morning all!
hi double U sue :)
suze!!
Hi Sue :)
sorry,sprite,do not have it
hi sue
nm, found it. Sorry to pull a peri.
sprite, I love your tree!
of course i cannot derride the india business person too badly since here we have the wealthy set up charity functions and go to a 100 dollar a plate dinner while wearing 3 million dollars of jewelery and they do not get the irony at all;)
thanks sue :)
BRB
maybe a clue for the first sa6/27?
ugh it has been too long since i've danced
haven't danced at all in the year of the snake yet
can't wait to dance this weekend
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!!!!
A researcher at California State University calculated that non-fiction writers live an average of 68 years, several years longer than their cohorts who write poems, plays, and fiction works.
I miss dancing too
go for it, crossy
why don't you dance, smores?
I'm going to a dance this weekend too, rows, and I think I haven't danced since, well, probably two snakes ago :-)
omg... I won't grow old then, crossy.
haha nice, sue
what style of dance?
ballroom, probably
cool :)
already had to get new clothes
big fundraiser for the university and now that I am a chair I am supposed to go
oh nice, so you get to dress up
Lack of time, opportunity
anyone, please? A clue for the first sa6/27?
check the bling they are wearing when they come through the door! lol
good for you Sue :)
i get to dress up a bit next weekend when i go to Malaysia... i'm going to a big lindy hop weekend event that has themes for each dance party
yes, I am trying to pretend I enjoy dressing up - I did when I was younger
you can dance anywhere, smores :)
sounds like fun, rows!
yeah, should be pretty awesome, though i'm a tad nervous about the competition i'm gonna be in... i haven't competed in a couple of years now i think
Frank is coming too, and he likes to dress up and dance, so that is good :-)
always nice when you have a nice man to join you :)
sprite, sa6-----he s**d, she s**d and a degoratory term for a Jewish person
goooooooooooood afternoon fellow babblers xxx could someone tell me how many words today please? xxx

Hi Ruby :)

(((((ruby)))) i am so sory ruby
((((ruby))))
sorry
we are really broken up
you are all so sweet
((((Ruby)))) so sorry to hear about your ruby
{{Ruby}} I am so, so sorry :(
Rufie kept trying to wake her up!
how old was she?
poor Rufie :(
thinking of you ruby xxx
she was 10 and had a heart condition, so she had a good, long life for a chow chow
((ruby))) I am so sorry for the loss of Ruby. That is so sad.
she was a grand dog!
aww
ruby i am so sorry to hear that. ((ruby))
she looks it... i'm assuming that's her in your photo?
Do you have someone to help you with her?
no, that is Max, who died last year. Ruby was shaded blonde
oh
Assuming you are burying her in your lovely garden
my friend Catherine and her husband came this morning and buried her in the garden.
Hi ruby, smores, Rows, medusa
hi bichon
Hi bichon
fortunately, husband was out when I found her, so he didn't have to be the one to discover her body
hi bichon
aww
I'm so glad someone was able to help you
Is he home with you now?
it took both of them to carry her downstairs
yes, husband is sleeping
ruby, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved dog.
What's happening ruby? Did Ruby die? Oh no. I am so sorry
hi peri
Yes, I imagine it would.
it's awful but not really unexpected. And she had a great day yesterday
I am glad that her last day was a happy one.
that's good. i imagine she led a happy life and was blessed to have you as her owner :)
hi all
She is playing with Biscuit over the Rainbow Bridge.
I have to leave now. ruby, my heart goes out to you. You gave her a happy life and she gave you joy and pleasure.
:( very sad for you, but you have lots of wonderful memories with her and you gave her a awesome life
hi peri
I've already sent a letter to our Italian breeder/friends to try to find another chow for us
my husband is destroyed
it may sound cold-hearted, but that's the only way to get past this kind of loss
I bet he is, so sorry you were alone though when you found her.
i'm sure a new friend will help soothe the pain and bring more moy into your lives again
joy*
Not cold-hearted at all ruby
When Biiscuit died we never thought we'd get another dog. But, here we are with the noble explorers, Marco and Polo
for you ruby..
Dogs Last Will and Testament Before humans die, they write their last Will & Testament, give their home and all they have, to those they leave behind. If with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I'd ask... To a poor and lonely stray I'd give: -My happy home. -My bowl and cozy bed, soft pillows and all my toys. -The lap, which I loved so much. -The hand that stroked my fur and the sweet voice which spoke my name. I'd Will to the sad, scared shelter dog, the place I had in my human's loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds. So, when I die, please do not say, "I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand." Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope and give MY place to HIM. This is the only thing I can give... The love I left behind. Author Unknown
having two dogs i really important for us
I was just thinking about that crossy :)
Agreed ruby. There is a Chow puppy in utero just for you.
{{crossy}}
crossy that makes me cry
since Rufie was born last December, maybe his mom is pregnant again
what is the average life span of a chow?
that is sweet crossy
((((ruby)))) I must go now but will be thinking of you - take care!!!
n0t old, peri, I've only heard of one making it to 12
how old was Max?
Marco is coming to me for comfort. He senses I am sad
thank you, sue, I will picture you in your dancing costume!
Max was only 8, but he was autistic and drowned in the fishpond
have fun dancing, sue, if i don't see you again on here before the weekend :)
Rufus lived to be almost 10 but suffered at the end with terrible arthritis
At least Ruby didn't suffer at all; her heart medication worked well until her heart just quit
I must be off. *hugs* to you all and an extra one for you and Burt, ruby.
you all give me great comfort
tc ((sprite))
*hugs* sprite, take care
bye sprite

oi 5/12
Morning friends
Hello Mr. Bob!
howdy bob
need food bbl..!
Got it Crossy! TY!
yaaa!
and now it is time for a crossy bonus tidbit of the day!!
The 1904 Summer Olympic Games, held in St. Louis, included greased pole climbing, rock throwing, and even mud fighting.
lol...Olympic mud wrestling
They are doing away with Wrestling in 2020. People are pissed!
yeah it was a really stupid decision
That's odd
i hope they can yet change it back
Wrestling was one of the original olympic sports. Stupid olympic committee. So does that mean we'll get more gymnastic dancing while waving a ribbon around?
I was shocked they made that decision. One of the few original sports left.
they didn't cut modern pentathlon, which is expensive to do and unpopular (equestrian, shooting, etc) such that most people have never heard of it, because one of the committee members is a booster for that.
but wrestling, accessible to participants the world over, no matter how poor...
very strange decision...wonder what was behind it
stupidity.
$$$$$
Yep.
sponsorships, endorsements, etc.
the board caters to the desires of themselves and not the public
doesn't sound like they have a grip on it
well i think we should lead a boycott of watching olympics until they reverse the decision
if there are sports to be cut...any original sports should be off the lists
More men in unitards!
more ladies in spandex!
lol :)
they certainly don't have it in a half Nelson....
Maybe mixed martial arts will replace it.
Good grief.
I'm still mad they cut softball.
The half nelson will be replaced by Willie Nelson. But then, he wouldn't pass the drug test.
off to check on my GOT game and reset my babble eyes biab..poink!
bye for now crossy :)
lol...judi
Bye Crossy!
I just got here, but this is slow going.
i have got some rope up here...
Hi hokie!
Hi!
phantom: imam
<--- crawling to the halfway point.
phantom; daisy, hemp
Phantom mishmash
phantom: median
:)
I feel like all I am seeing is phantoms.
me toooooo
Whew! I made it!
name that proper noun! cartoonist walt
disney
Disney :)
ding ding ding!
hey, I have 4 boxes grayed out!
Well done!
make that 5!
oh, now I'm on a roll. I may reach halfway by tonight.
I just found an 8!!! Now I have NBT and NBS!!!!
I grow weary of this grid.
wtg car :)
back again, clue for the first mi5?
i have greyed 8 boxes, not counting the H, but i still don't feel like i'm doing well
wow, impressive. I don't have any 7 or 8.
I just have one of each.
Hi Dawb!
if something is a swampy mess, it's a mi5 (usually you see it with an a at the end)
I don't really either, hurshy. Just trying to make myself feel better. :-)
hi car!
ty, hushy. found it.
<--- swampy mess?
free clue - on the last ep of downton abbey, carson quoted, "un6 lies the head that wears the crown"
Ahhh! Kitten attack!!!!
sorry car it's more of an unhealthy ATMOSPHERE
mire? morass?
it's more air than ground, my understanding of it was murky (ironically enough)
can't...see...screen...all...furry....\n..
Clue for Ad8, please?
still haven't worked up my nerve to watch the last ep!
humid?
not humid, polluted
don't have it yet, judi
*stumped*
me too judi.
are there any sm words?
One
I have an sm5/14
i can't get anywhere with ad... admission... admonish...admire...
ah thanks molly and mael
:)
The ad 8 is not in the grid. It's an extra on Lickety.
sm5 s'wonderful tv show about korean war
ah that would explain why nobody has it :)
ad8, plural the ad6
people were doing 8's when i came in but i wasn't paying attention
i am pretty sure they said sa8 though
Actually sm 5 the whole word is a current tv show.
i don't have any 8's yet
The ad words apply to high pressure marketing.
Hi Molly! TY!
ad + attending more than one catholic church prayer meeting?
ad8 is the plural of ad6 but Babble's Enable does not accept it
so let's talk about what 8's there ARE :)
lol, hurshy
sa, se and am
I found the se 8/50....most like a hamburger bun with seeds on top
lol...just popped back in...so there is no ad8...interesting
let me change that....hamburger bun seeds + robot ending
Or like one of those seeds that needs Preparation H
thanks car!
Nice Molly!
lol...I have the one and sa8, plural of the sa7
That must be Lickety's extra word...
Unfortunately, I am not getting any of the clues that y'all are laying down. I think I probably should just give up.
ahh, ad8 is a lickety bonus word
hmm it's not smoyed
samoyed
im back
Ahhgh! After I spent all this time on it. I hate it when that happens.
Hi medusa!
hi car
no hurshy but you got the 1st 3 right:)
Me too Judi. I was doing the same thing Hursh was doing. Admission, admonish, etc.
hi medusa
sigh
OK...so there is NO ad 8 then? What was being clued?
hi dawg
mi5 was being clued earlier, now se8
how about ad8?
THERE IS NO AD8!!!!!
ok. so what is the 1 in the list suppose to be?
There is an ad8 word, just not taken in the grid. But on Lickety. People were probably not being clear about that.
Never got the Mi 5...or the ad 6 I think I will pack it in.
Never got the Mi 5...or the ad 6
ad + Catholic Sunday service
clues for the sa8 and am8 would be lovely
Wait...those low cut jeans...don't they come up midass?!?!? Shouldn't that be a word?!?!?
I have a couple mi5. how many are there?
TY Molly.
ah. so do we know what the ad8 is suppose to be?
Okay. Have found all the 8s. Now i quit.
ad8 plural of ad6. NOT IN THE GRID.
weird!
plural of the ad6 medusa
Well, in the grid, but not accepted on the Word List.
there are 5 mi5 words hokie
2 5/14,2 5/12 and 1 5/16
well, I finally got halfway, so I'm going to hit the list. thanks, anyway.
can anyone clue the sa8 and the am8?
I'm going to scoot. {{hugs}} to all!!!!
still not 1/2 but about to list anyways
Bye for now car :)
ttfn car
nope, hurshy
se8...first part of bun seed + robot ending
am 8/50 builds off the am 4/6 + you put flowers in v****
thank you LWG
There is no a8; SA + do re ** + ***ior citizen
thanks luv
thank you erda
thanks erda, was trying to think of a clue for it :)
se8...man's name + at Easter they say "He has ar***** (past tense) , plural
thanks Erda
oops -- there is an A8; sorry
thanks erda. now got nbt and nbs
yes, there's an am8, just no ad8 :)
thanks LWG for the am :)
is that supposed to be sa clue, Molly?
Yes, sa...got distracted by news of a new Dan Brown book this summer.
ugh, i hate dan brown
Well then you won't be excited.
noop
hurshy - you have to respect a guy who can write the same book 5 times though :-)
was not so keen on his last book but do like his other stuff. i do think deception point was the best one though
seems like a lot of authors write "the same book" multiple times - even great ones
Mental note: Don't mention Dan Brown here again
lol molly
tadone!! finito! this was not an overly fun grid.
Well done dawg!!! woo hoo :)
wtg dawg!
:) Molly
hi...could i get a clue for the first sa6?
i'm jealous, dawg. yesterday's was so enjoyable, too... but today... ugh
hi skooj
hi medusa
80%! phew. getting list.
pt of say + Enable accepts a lot of ***dish words
Past tense of say without the last letter
Hi does anyone have a clue for the im6/24. I just can't see it at all.
Wow...brain gone...i am not getting it...sorry
im6...jim6 are sprinkles for ice cream
oops... thanks Molly for fixing my blunder :)
I think that must be an American word. We call those hundreds and thousands!
I like Dan Brown's book. Slight preference when the cabalistic bureaucracy is the United States's and not the Vatican City's
or sprinkles
or edible ball bearings
lol
lol
I have NO idea what those might be!!!!
well that's what the Doctor calls them! :)
Mostly sprinkles here too. I've only heard the ji word in New England.
Hasn't anyone here ever played marbles/
?
some people object to the ji word on the grounds that it comes from jim crow. but since we now use the word for the multicolored ones as well as the brown ones, i'm not sure it really matters
How about im6...the stripper sh****** and shakes her booty?
LOL
Well - I found the im6. what a funny word.
Wow Hootowl, hadn't even thought of marbles in years :)
well - thats your im!
think I still have a few
Mental note: Go to the ice cream shop and ask for hundreds and thousands. Hope they don't think you are robbing the place.
:)
hello
hey MLF :)
hi mlfan
hi smores
hi medusa
Interesting profile today, Molly.
this grid doesnt seem that easy
are those the silver balls we used to use on Xmas cookies? Santa's buttons, Rudolph's nose, etc. :-)
pb for me lol
silver balls = edible ball bearings! :)
the proof of the greatness of the human race!
yep . . . teethcrackers for sure! LOL
kinda like this grid
Those always remind me of mercury
which i have finally finished
off to sudoku
indeed . . . ugh

The back end of the word is sometimes vowel + first in Freud's personality trio.

Here they are sprinkles too - but I love the image of hundreds and thousands.
guess I've only known them as sprinkles
Here, if you went into an ice cream shop and asked for a cone and said you would like hundreds and thousands with that, they would think you were robbing the place. : P
Not such a good image, then!

ah, we've been here about 18 years
it is a magical place...
hubby was born/raised here, left to attend U and didn't come back until retirement
i met lotus ruckle years ago, interviewed her for a history project..her husband had a huge brass tube he used as hearing aid...
i think thr. farm became a heritage site? Park?
had met her and daughter, yes, most of them gone, and the property is a great place to walk, picnic, etc
had to google her - and found out about ruckle beans!
the ferry costs make me insane, up & dwn. the coast
what r ruckle beans??
yes, agree, many of us believe province should see it as part of the highway
me too
that's a new term to me, have never heard of ruckle beans, must ask hubby (he's out for the evening)
a white kidney bean that came to SSI from ontario with a family named Harris - they lived in Moresby - now it's the Ruckle bean and unique to BC

m&s, went bust here ...a few yrs back..
thanks again BR, that link is a very interesting bit of SSI history
(which is actually marks and spencer)
yw
I really miss Marks & Sparks -- great clothes, great frozen and Brit foods, such as Spotted Dick (is ruru listening?)
Flosey, there used to be an amazing undertaker on saltspring, i think Goodwin was his last name..he was fascinating old guy...do you remember him or hearing about him?
wow u cant see 2 feet away from the window
there are anti-biotics for that jilli
We had a great M & S in the Montreal area
he had been one of those young boys brought to canada after ww1, to work on farms...can't recall the name of the program that brot them
not going there, ruru
mmmmm - googled that, too - currants and custard
:D
think hubby may have gone to school with a Goodwin, will have to ask him - sounds familiar
Arctic -- it begins with a B -- just can't remember just now
well.. jilli.. you invited me to comment
didn't old underground railway send people to saltsprng after civil war in states?
oh yes, arctic
*backtrack* it's suet pudding, steamed with currants - and served with custard - too rich for me
yes, they did, arctic
sounds yummy welki
ruru I 'm not going there because I had too much to say, lol!
welki, we used to call that frog spawn too
suet? ewwwwww
oh no, ruru -- suet puddings are yummy and not heavy as lead if they're done right.
i can understand that, arctic - looked at the photo *lol*
gacking away and getting sent from table for refus. to eat it
tut tut arctic!
I don't have that kind of intestinal fortitude jilli
here, ru: http://tinyurl.com/7bckwe
no, no you don't ru - mussels. scallops. all sorts of bottom feeders, but suet? no - you need a stronger stomach *lol*
if you balked because of mr. cholesterol, i'd understand :)
i actually have great cholesterol numbers
it's genetic
or because you don't eat spotted dick!
well.. if I did.. I'd never admit it..
we r only going round once..more butter the better
true, but i'd like to go round for as long as possible
