I just posted a sad message but the flip happened -- not only did my d-i-l's brother die of lung cancer a couple of weeks ago, but today my son had to take their beloved Lab mix to the vet for his final sleep. They are devastated.

Thanks. You and basenotes.net are my two fave online communities.

What a weird grid, 5Es, 4 Is, and two As. Odd.

So, 17 out of 25 tiles are from just 5 letters.

At the risk of putting myself in the PB, if you can have deicer, why can't you have icer?
good question
Or reicer?
I always ask that. Pitter is not allowed either, even though Lehman's Hardware in Kidron, OH sells a cherry pitter.
or the pitter patter of little feet :)
I also used to have a cherry pitter - or rain pitters on the window!
BBS - enjoy the grid - sleep well if I don't see you before!
bye, liz
Small world... someone on Babble right at this minute is familiar with Lehman Hardware in Kidron, OH!
Never been there, though some family members have.
I used to work there. Back when it was much, much smaller than it is now. I was maybe the 2nd non-Lehman-related person to work there.
Sorry, it's just that Kidron is such a small town. Funny to see someone here right now that has even heard of Lehman's.
Everyone in northern Ohio knows Lehman's. Me too.
We used to go to Atwood lodge—now demolished—for Thanksgiving.
And I have a cherry pitter.
Wow. You worked there. I get their emails. Fascinating stuff. I want one of those beeswax burns-forever candles.
OK, I have to be at work in 6 1/2hours. Missing one E, 3 Isnad the N for nbt, Missing the 10 for nbs.
got the N.
Yeah. When I was a young'un. Back in the earlier 80's I prepared catalogs for mailing for them, and then went on to work for them full time for a while in 1988-89 or so.
tr 10 prefix for 3 + abbreviation for street + body part for listening + opp of out

Hi again. Thanks for the tr 10 Dee :)
Hi Liz :)
Hi Demi - how are things? :)
Good thanks. trying to stay cool. in the middle of a bit of a heat wave. summer has come late!
I hope it improves here before our Vancouver friends arrive on Monday.
more rain?
A bit - just got washing dry - how mundane and boring is that?
I guess we could cope if the weather was like today - it's just such a big holiday for them - I'd love it all to be perfect!
i did ironing yesterday in front of movie...
"Retirement"
one can only hope that the weather improves. will try and send some sunshine up to you!
Puhleeeze!
you can have some and we'll have some of your rain.
Are you and R around to skype this weekend?
at this stage we are. we have some plans but nothing confirmed. however we will make time for you & P.
Sounds good :)
Haven't seen you for a while - can catch up on news etc. Yes, I know that the boys chatted on the phone but 2nd hand news is not the same!
What day is better for you? we have a long wknd here so can do monday for while. I understand about the 2nd hand news and often with R he doesn't pass everything on.
Monday no good - got to be at the airport at lunchtime. Guess we'll be in cleaning mode in the morning!
Most likely no babble time next week :(
hello how many words today please
160 words ss1 :)
thanks so muchsite
No wonder you delved into that monster grid the other day. I didn't finish. gave it away iwth 100 to go.
o thanks much sorry
Last time I reckon, though demi, if you saw what I wrote afterwards!
bbl. must go and prepare dinner. c u in the chat or if not over the wknd via skype.
Have a good evening. Love to you both :)

hello marigold
the first time I tried ni7 Enable would not accept it
good clue------> off you go
Good morning, kiddos. Marigold, TY for that simple clue. Good start for me.
good morning, scrabbs...Im up early toda
*today
much earlier than usual
Hi scrabbs and Annie - that was a great clue from Marigold!
I did not sleep well last night.
Hi Liz, yes it was.
scrabbs, you and me both
Liz, my friend just returned from a 3 wk trip to Australia and NZ. We will have lunch Friday and I will hear details and see photos.
Sorry to hear that - hope your days won't be too stressful!
Hope your friend enjoyed her?self here - I think it's a lovely country and I've only seen a small part of it!
I am on call today which adds to my stress. The on call doc must answer the phone triage nurses' questions all day. Then, of course, take calls after the office closes.
:( No time to nap on the job then!
My friend said NZ was gorgeous--hiking and kayaking.
Hope to get to NZ before too long. I have an NZ friend who lives in England - perhaps next time she visits home ...
And I am going away for 4 days with a cousin, to visit another cousin. So I am already having separation anxiety about leaving my bunnies.
Hope you've got someone good to look after them for you!
I have a bunnysitting neighbor.
:)
Then they wll be take care of properly.
She is from London and has lived here 25 yrs. She is such a nice, nice woman.
You will miss them but you will be back soon
I'm sure she'll love them for you - and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful 4 days - even with missing the bunnies.
She uses words such as "whilst." I love it.
You've made me wonder, whether I use whilst now!
And when she says "bahb" we don't know if she means her husband "Bob" or our neighbor "Barb."
I'm guessing it'd be your neighbour!
Though perhaps it depends where in the UK she's from!
hello
is this a strage tie to lon in or what?
Ruby :)
I have learned to listen carefully and know the difference now.
goodmorning, ((ruby))
Hi ruby
((annie))
((scrabbler))
Lunchtime for you, Ruby.
((lizlin))
Hope that you're a bit more used to your keyboard now Ruby :)
still looking for the Arrow and still typing badly
You'll get there!
have you found the apostrophe?
but I've foud the question mark and exclamation(poor moly)
Yay!!!!!!!
Your'e getting there
raffie is definitely coming on Tuesday. I've send the balance of the money today
sent*
Yahoo!
That's really good news - not long now at all. Which airport and will someone drive you?
YAY11
!!!
I'm writing like I've barely been through 5 yrs of school.....
she is coming to Lyo and my friend Catherine is driving me. I convinced Burt that it was better for him to stay home with Rufie to prevent instat jealousy with the new pup
good thinking
sounds like a good idea. Will you have a way of introducing Raffie to Rufie?
E's and I's all over the grid
To try to minimise jealousy, I mean.
but Burt continues to sy things like he wnts to die, etc. Trying to get thinks to be more cheerful, ut I wish I could put anti depressants into his food
A few minutes ago I decided to look for words starting with vowels.
That's so hard for you but perhaps the new pup will cheer him!
I hope so, but there is ittle else I can do
Out with it, Annie.
Raffie will cheer up him. He will make him feel better.
I hope that you have some means of keeping yourself more upbeat, so it doesn't get to you!
rice
Free clue!
Scrabbs free clue of the day!!!
he truly loves Rufie but is so caught up in his own depression, that it's hard to snap him out of it
ty for the free clue
It takes time, Ruby.
I hope the pup will - esp if she's got life and character - she won't give him a chance to feel down - well, I hope not.
ruby, wont the doctor give him an antidepressant. you can put it in his food.
I'm doing the best I can and, as much as I still miss my Ruby, I am managing
scrabbs, are you saying it takes time to climb out of depression?
Our dog died over 30 years ago - I still miss him!
when he see his MD. he is a different person. So I think that part of this despair is a performance for my benefit. I've also sent his daughter a ticket for June
Grief takes time. Depression can be chronic or episodic
in the past, when I had a major depression in th 70's, it took 2 wks for the anti d's to kick in. Perhaps they are more sophistiated now, but i still feel funny about slipping them into his food
Modern anti-depressants, e.g. Prozac, etc, take 3-4 wks for onset.
You must do whatever you feel is right for you - and Burt of course.
his depression is chronic. ruby's death only eacerated the situation
exacerbated*
Have you discussed it privately with Burt's doctor? I mean the fact that his behaviour differs with different people?
unfortunately, his doc is your basic Fr macho man and doesn't really believe e
this friday we're seeing his cariologist and maybe he'll listen to me
That
That's unhelpful :(
Time for me to go - we have a wedding tomorrow afternoon / evening but also have to be up early. Enjoy the grid (I'm struggling a bit now!) Have a good day :)
I must depart too and get ready for work. I'll check back in if I have a chance.
((lizlin and scrabs))
everytime I leave the grid for a bit, when I return I find a bunch of words
Good Morning/Evening everyone :)
good morning, smores, How are the smoresettes?
((smores))
I am having a sneezing fit, is the planet shaking?
I thought I felt and heard something
Bless you Annie.
It was me!
thank you, Molly and hello
grrr...computer was being weird.
and bless you, molly, for being here!
The girls are well Annie :)
Molly, I thought that wa the Cowardly Lion
and Bless you :)
thank you, smores
{Ruby}
I see you found the "!" :)
Not a queen, not a duke, not a prince : )
one by oe I'm finding the marks
:)
I still watch the Wizard of Oz if I see it on. I love that picture.
We belong to the Lollipop Guild, the Lollipop Guild
me, too
lol
Molly, just found your sa5 (not cotton or chintz)
With a woof, and a woof and a royal growl
Speaking of Oz, I don't have high hopes for the new movie. I think it was terribly miscast.
love the royal growl!
Who's in the new movie?
Heard they were doing a re-make, who's Dorothy?
I thought you would love the "woof, woof" ruby :)
No Dorothy, it's about the wizard. James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz.
love all woofs!
Ah...
The female characters play Glinda and two other witches.
but nobody can replace Billie Burke1
So not a remake, but another tale of OZ.
no dorothy, no lion, no tinman, no scarecrow, bah!
It's based on another Baum book, about how Oz came to Oz before it was Oz. How's that for a sentence.
Makes sense to me, Molly
when my son was sall, I tracked down many of the Oz books. Unfortunately his (wicked) stepmother has the all now
sma;ll
I loved all the Oz books.
Actually, it's a good sentence.
so did he
I had heard they were making an Oz movie, I thought it was a re-make, glad to hear I was wrong.
It was such a treat for me, as a child, to find out there was more to the story than the movie.
I think after the horror that was "The Wiz" Hollywood has learned it's lesson on Wizard Of Oz remakes.
Yes, I certainly hope so.
I'm still so disgusted that they are doing a remake of Dirty Dancing.
Agree
you are kidding....said nel, hoop
hpefully
time for a lie down
*woof*
arent there anymore original thinkers around in hollywood?
Hopefully the movie will spark interest in the Baum books again, doubt many youth today know there is more than the movie.
Bye Ruby, enjoy your rest dear :)
Apparently, not many, Annie.
I hate to see them mess around with the beloved classics. Someone mentioned The Wiz, it was terrible
Me too Annie
Not to keen on movie remakes, although I did enjoy Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Disney did a remake of Cinderella too, which paled in comparison to the original Leslie Ann Warren one.
Hmm, guess I missed that Molly.
You didn't miss much. Teen star (at the time) Brandy played the lead.
Did anyone watch "Parade's End"? We are watching it, but I'm interested to hear from others.
Hi bichon, no, haven't seen it
It sounds good Bich. I don't get HBO.
The acting is great, but it is very slow moving
Is anyone finding this grid daunting?
Any grid with 12 vowels is daunting for me.
and having a 10 letter word to boot
vowels daunt me
vowels, too many vowels, can't find words because of the vowels aaahhhhh
Vanna, I'd like to return a vowel please. Maybe 5.
pabtrek, I identify with you esp. words beginning with vowels
LOL
and the e's are in the wrong place
Yes, all glomped together on the right. (Hey, if Enable can make up words, so can I)
I need stats for the top i please?
Well so far, this snow storm is kind of a bust for us. Not even an inch on the ground, yet everything is closed due to predictions.

I heard someone use the word housecoat the other day. I haven't heard that word since the 60's.
tr10...sad in French and I loved Bobby D****
Wow, me either, not since my grandmother
how is housecoat referred to today? Lounging apparel?
Oh the shark has, pretty teeth dear, and he shows them, pearly white
ty Annie
Molly, now you did it! I wont get that out of my had all day.
youre welcome, bichon
I wasn't aware that housecoats still existed.
*head
I call it a "shmatah" Annie
Just a jackknife, has ole Mack Heath babe, and he keeps it, outta sight
A schmata is a schmata is a schmata
my grandmother did yard/garden work in her housecoat -- pants would have been scandalous LOL
whatsa schmata you?
Macy's doesnt carry schmatas, it is lounging apparel
Hi Une :)
Of course Macy's doesn't carry schmatahs. But S. Klein on the Square did
lol...funny Une
hey, annie :-)
A schmatah is literally a rag [Yiddish from Hebrew]
bichon, You are bringing back fun memories.
lol...I know bichon..just being silly
have heard the word but didn't know it was a rag . . .
To me, a housecoat is not a bathrobe. It's a cotton, short sleeve, three quarter lenght button down the front thingy.
You dust with a schmata
Schmatoot in Hebrew is a rag. The Schmatah Trade is the dress or garment industry
Yes, you dust with it too.
Exactly, Molly
yes, molly -- often with snaps down the front :-)
Wow...forgot also was called a duster
So where can I find a schmata with snaps down the front?
yes!!
Often paired with fuzzy slippers of some sort : D
On Amazon Annie
jc penney used to carry them:-)
bichon, Youre a genius.
All this chitter-chatter, chitter-chatter, chitter-chatter 'bout schmatte, schmatte, schmatte --
Im not near a JC Penny but will google them and Amazon. Thanks you two.
good morning, Owl, join the rag trade
I have a lovely collection of schmatahs in my closet
hi all
LOL...yes, cannot forget the fuzzy slippers
i have at least one that belonged to my mom :-)
Vintage schmata
I got lots of them from my Mom
I see a crossword puzzle as bichon's icon...have to start the NYT again.
hi peri
I remember wearing them as a teenager. In those days, apartments were heated warm enough so that you could wear them in the winter
And you wear your hair up in a scarf/bandana when you dust in your duster.
Annie, I won a trophy at a crossword puzzle contest on Sun. Best Rookie
Okay, the day calls..must be on my way..thanks for the schmatta speak, bye dear babblers
bye, annie!
bye Annie
congrats, bichon!
Our award winning Bich! : D
WOW, bichon! I am proud of you.
My grandmother also wore the "fancy" slippers aka..Eva Gabor style. :)
Bye Annie...enjoy your day dear :)
ooohhhh, smores . . .
Speaking of getting started with my day...laundry awaits. ttfn
wow Bichon, congrats :)
later, bichon
lol..on the award, not the laundry :)
*waves to the masses* Hi, y'all!
hi, judi! I'm off to crunch on some Cheerios and berries -- BBL! *poof*
Hiya Judi :)
Enjoy your breakfast Une :)
hi y'all. just got here. looks like a crappy board.
Hi hokie, odd one for sure, way to many vowels
and by crappy, I mean full of vowels.
:)
man! Enable takes cotan but not arctan? It's trigonometry discrimination!
lol..Hi rasta :)
hi all
went to bed early and missed the flip. I see I didn't miss much
morning all, can't stay but wanted to say hi
Hiya, uu!
hi Judi! I really must run but will be back with tea in a bit...
Hi and bye Sue :)
I must go as wel. Enjoy all :)
can't even get to the halfway point- it must be full of stupid words
as tatic
Sorry
I'm off.
see you all next grid.
Kinda quiet chat today. Everyone must be swimming in the grid.
what is your icon, judi?
Hi, TO. Spiderman. Saying his spider sense is tingling.
*Wonders where Une got the crunch berries*
i see something with a big blue eye.
Oh. You need to refresh. That was yesterday's icon.
That is her old icon, TO. The new one is Spiderman.
I just cheated and used A2Z for the Tr10. Eeesh.
what is it? it is interesting.
you mean three st7/28?
The old icon was a picure of the moon as seen through an arch in a slot canyon.
Oh Judi, I just know you discuss tr10's at every party you go to. : P
freaky.
As if, Molly.
no molly, she is not a braggart, she only discusses the st 7. not three st7s :P
I never discuss Tr10's. Any such discussion of fats and blood sugars goes straight to my hips.
:)
Morning dears
Hiya, Hego.
Hi Judi
Anyone have clues fo rthe er5/12 and/or the er7/32?
Just started Judi

Hello, All :-)

I thought 'tristatin' was a word.
yes, thought for sure statin was too
statin is a word

Thats typical.

Bye, Hego.
i can't believe the construction crew is next door in the snow. . .
when i was in construction we used to have to walk into the job sites from the main road wearing snowmobile suits.then spend 2 hours digging the site out,one hour setting up the salamander propane heaters to get a unfinished basement warm enough to pour concrete, all at minus 30 celcius:)
brrrrrr, cold, hard work.. hi crossy
so i come back from shopping and there is a phone service truck parked in the driveway. so i have to park in street. walking up the drive, the goof is siiting in the truck. i say.. you are blocking the drive. he says i know i am!! after using all my restraint not to smack him upside his head, i say do u think u can move??? and he says, i will be blocking it again too. so the idiot finally moves.. i must be getting old becuz i let him off easy. in my younger days i would have ripped his head off.. and that is how my day is going lol

my range is moving south and we are also sad
When we had that bad winter, a couple of years ago, and did not see grass for long periods of time, it had a bad effect on me psychologically.
Were you tempted to astro turf the living room Molly?
get a few chia pets
: ) No, but I realized that I could never live where there was that kind of snow all winter long.
i know what you mean molls. . . lots of people twitched the next year whenever the word snow was spoken
What's a chia pet crossy?

Help for RE7,32 -- PLEASE!!!

Wtg zooz, hage
Trying to incite a riot crossy? :-)
Whats' the MRI for mixi
nope.just want views
If "self defense" was used, instead of "how to shoot" it would be a lot less controversial.
my knee. I ran across the tennis court a week ago and my knee objected.
does it hurt rater then help because the persons thought will now be "i can blow this sumbitch away myself then call the po-po to clean up the mess"?

Ha! The news just flipped to The Young And The Restless before I turned the TV off. It's just like I never stopped watching. Nikki and Victor are getting married again.
Ruby are you paying people for clues these days?
what\s the going rate for the 10?
last time i saw that was like 30 years ago molly, same thing was happening
I never was able to Watch daytime television in the US but here there are sometimes Italian movies in the afternoon
I don't know if they're soaps or not, but I like watching and listening to Italians
lol Molly
better than smelling italians
you don't like garlic, hurshy?
Frenchmen smell worse!

I even offered to pay!
i was banking on -tance
or at least -tant
tr10
tr...three and water from eyes and not out
brb
thanks phae
so much for my popular word endings theory
would have loved it to be tri + sa7/32. Meaning being as bad as 3 devils.
((sprite))) you are in the grid again:))
I can't find it! I find the first 9 letters but then?
hiya crossy, so I am :) Am loved, this week.
phae kinda left out an S in fourth position, ruby
It should be prefix for threeS
aha! How much do I owe you hurshy?
on the house
thanks
Finally found all the words beginning with bowels.

How many words total today, anyone?
160 words
Thanks, marilynn!
hello babblers, how's the grid today?
I'm not so thrilled
hi kate!
i just started, but it looks like it will be a tough slog - way too many i's for my taste. brain power will be stretched for sure!
yeah im not having a great brain day myself
lol, wyrd up!
;)
thanks to hurshy and phae i got the 10... would have broken my monkey for sure on that one ;))
yeah i woulda never got that either. i can't seem to monkey simple 4 letter words well today
i find it much harder when most of the tiles are one point, doesn't give you much to go on to parse things out
still stuck on the re 6/21...
can't believe tiara is not in the grid - it is so common - and there are plenty of tiles to make it!
amazingly enough i have that one
re + listen
thanks wyrd
hi sam
hi kate
re + he 4/5 the first one
oh good
back in 5
Hi. Just getting started. Quiet day so far.
hi stidggie. what's going on in yur day?
hi all, back for the last bit if I can stay awake that long
hey sp 6/21 :) i guess you are close to finishing?
Hello everyone! I've got 89 words so far, but it's a difficult grid today.
don't need much anymore, but I bet they are all uglies
hi Jommie
Hi Sprite :).
hi jommie, yu're doing bettter than i am - and you're right sprite, they are uglies for sure
hi Kate
Hi Kate :).
I must admit that some words were lucky guesses :). And don't underestimate that c in the bottom row ;).
ah man... missed the spaghetti.
scooping up heaps of spaghetti, thanks sprite
yvw :)
I found the spaghetti, but I wanted to make a longer word of it (starting with an a) and it just doesn't fit :).
did you get "more glue-like", and the cornish food?
seems there are a lot of phantoms in here today
fireflies. A sad T word as last one. Bye all, back to bed with me.
good night sprite, see you friday
No, I don't think I've got that one yet, Kate. Have you got the stats for that word, please? :)
Good night sprite and well done!
the food is pa 6/21 the glue like adds one more letter to make it superlative of glue-like pa 7/32
st6/18?
I've got it, thanks! :)
then there is what you so when you sample the food ta 5/10, the person who does it ta 6/18 and the superlative ta 7/28
Ha! Here in the States a pa6/18 is something else entirely. : D
sorry bea, i gave up on the s and t words rather early, thought i'd circle around to get them later
I mean pa6/21
hi all, ar6 pls
Bzznbea: st 6/18 is like the Bowie and Jagger song: dancing in the st**** :)
and a person who st 5/12s would wear them for modesty hahaha
Of course! Thanks.
thqanks jommie!
You're welcome, Bea and Kate :).
ar 6/21 one who strives or hopes to attain?
Lol Kate, thanks for all the (funny) clues :).
and ar 7/32 - the one who does the as 6/21
I need ar6 not as6
sorry as 7/32...
All the phantoms are driving me crazy, hahaha.
sorry agaain, very ti 4/4d here ar 6/18 disney movie the ******cats but the last vowel makes it sound more feminine
hi all!
ty kate
Hi sue!
hi sue
think it si also a music label?
hi Jommie!
and peri!
sue!
got a few words earlier this morning but two of my i tiles are still blank (the two lone i's)
hi Kate!
I am missing the lone i in the middle
it is an ir6 but I do not see it
itsy bitsy spider.... but itsier is not a word :(
Sue, your icon looks like a relative of Jabba The Hut. : D
it does, doesn't it, molly?
both ir6 have to do with part of the eye
I'm missing that one, peri, and the one at the top between the t and the r
or the catepillar in alice
what is that in your icon, sue?
hi all
ok, got the central one, inflammation of the colored part of your eye
hi jmc
just change the last letter of the other ir6
I haven't got the ir 6 yet, but i've got the ir 4 :).
JMC, I want to go smack every newscaster who is using the term "snowquester".
it's a tardigrade, peri, a little beastie crawling on moss. It's about a millimeter long.
me too, Molls. no snow here, thank goodness
Ir 4 is also a girl's name (and the name of a song).
or a stately flower
It's been precipitating all day here, but nothing is sticking. YAY!
good god! I am glad i haven't heard that molls! *gags*
now I just need the is6 for nbt
Seriously, must we have a trendy term for everything?
we got 10" of snow yesterday, glad to hear you aren't getting the same!
Nor'easter always gets to me
Lol, I think we should get more points when a word has more than one meaning ;).
still looking for the 2 ir 6's... come out, come out, where ever you are.....
Nor'easter doesn't bother me if they don't say it a thousand times an hour. We used to play a drinking game with that one, when I was in college.
ir + disease ending, Kate (like tonsill****)
Spring is coming!! bbs
then change the last consonant to a 2-point one for the other
i+shiny fabric
*wondering if peri means she won't be back until spring is here*
Thanks for the clue, Sue! (lol, now I'm sounding like a poet :))
I rhyme :-)
thanks, i thought i had tried that, my typing is very poor tosay
thanks, jmc!
Spring is definitely coming in the Netherlands. It was sunny and the temperature rose to 16 degrees celsius.
yw
so stats for the second E please
so how's the blizzard there jmc and Molly
wow, that is quite warm, Jommie!
Non-existent Bich.
not a blizzard. . . more slushy than anything
which e is the second e, jmc?
the second row second column
er + two consonants
On CNN they're saying 12"
Yes, Sue, it is quite warm :). Yesterday, it was the warmest 5th of march ever in the Netherlands! But this weekend, temperatures will drop below zero again.
hmmmm little bug eggs on the head, and the superlative of them! also gives you more "spruced up" by changing one letter
ty bichon
well i am sure it is 12" somewhere. . .there is lots of water. . . but not here. . .there are places in the DC area that it has been rain only. . .
Parts of Virginia and West Virginia got slammed.
ty trader
:)
The term "DC Metro area" is open to wide interpretation.
In Richmond, or the mountains
it is not a day i would care to go out in. . . icy rain is not my cup of tea so to speak
er 7/32?
haha pittsburgh is dc metro area sometimes!
looking bich
well I just found an er7/32, now how to clue it...
er+a big cold war board game ***k+the snow doesn't s***k
sucky clue but some may improve. . .
sorry e++a big cold war board game ***k+the snow doesn't s***k
i put an extra r in there
e+a big cold war board game r**k+the snow doesn't s***k
three's the charm
tyvm jmc
thanks for that one jmc
stats for the lowest i please
in4/4 babblet
ir 4/4, ir 6/21, ir 6/18
Do people still play ***k?
i do. . . but mostly not i think
nbt finally
I don't ever recall playing it.
in 4/4, in 5/10 i think they arre the ones you want jmc
ty all
I'm closing in on half way.
When I was a kid, I always thought it was a game for eggheads. : D
so are they going to deliver the mail today?
it was a big favorite in my house. . .that and some games we made up: colonizing was one; bombs away was another
but we also played monopoly and chess and scrabble. . .
My cousins used to play bombs away. But it had more to do with being gassy than dice and game pieces. : P
Monopoly and Clue, but I grew up in the '50's
ah yes clue too
lol @! molly
bombs away was a mobile and vicious form of keep away/dodge ball my sister invented. .
Oh, sounds like what we called maul ball.
We played card games, including "Knucks". It was evil
each person claimed a country and then stood somewhere in the yard and the first person with the ball would declare war on one of the other countries.
Sounds much more intriguing than Spud.
you had to try to hit the person you declared war on and whereever the ball ended up they had to stand and then they could declare war and throw the ball
Jmc: we played that game in the Netherlands as well! :)
I contend we all had a lot more fun than kids who sit in front of video games.
if the ball hit your arm you lost your arm and you could not use it to throw, same with leg (hard standing on one leg) and if it hit you in the body or head you died. . .you got 3 lifes. . .
i was just thinking that bombs aways sounds a lot like an in person video game. . . and the ball hurt!
did you jommie? interesting that kids make up the same games worldwide. . .
We also played a ball game using the curbs of the sidewalks.
i will have to tell my sister who made up the rules that. . .
we are at the cancer center - nurse just asked Frank if he had liver metastases. He didn't, not that we know of, anyway. Not a question one likes to hear.
no no, not a good question. . .
apparently something is slightly elevated - not a lot, though. Next scan in two weeks. I hate this.
{{uu}}
{{sue&frank}} try not to worry about things that haven't happened
Oh no! I can imagine that you hate this, Sue! :(
ha, I do try, Kate, but it's not easy
meanwhile I will worry about where all those s words are hiding, I have 10 of them
plunge into the grid sue, it'll help you take your mind off things... and the t's and s's have me stymied... i left them off for now
any clues for the 10? I have the stats from lickety (tr10) but not seeing it
tr+to be+weep+not out
tr 10/70 threeS + water from the eye + not out
got it, thanks kate and jmc! looks like a chemistry word.
Thanks for the clue! I've got it! :)
i think it is an organic chemical
take off the first 3 letters and you have another grid word
ah, I successfully avoided organic chemistry.
a triglyceride of stearic acid
ty and pb trader haha!
and on that note, i'm off to the penalty box! bbs
there's another word too that has a different last consonant (and which has sent Kate to the PB)
Lol kate :)
i am off for a while my self. . . hang in there uu
Here is some pa 5/12 for you, Kate, so you won't get hungry while you're in the PB ;).
bye all. . . 90 left. . . *poof*

thanks, Kate
Lol, does she get extra points when her name is in the grid? :)

Glue s***k, glue in the shape of a s***k. Kids use them in school. I don't know what the "prit" part of the clue meant.
not sure either, maybe a brand ?
3M and Elmers are the only ones I know. :)
Yep,prit(t) is a brand of glue :).
Could be a non-American brand.
:)
rhymes with someone who is a good artist
Pritt is very famous in the Netherlands :).
is the sp 7 an extension of another word?
Ah, Netherglue. : D
lol
Lol, I like that term, Netherglue. I will keep it in mind :D.

Been lurking trying to get nbt/nbs....stats for the bottom 4th column t plz?
I just put a pizza in the oven. I haven't made one myself for a while.
Bye , Smores..enjoy your meal.
nm, found it...lol
We make our own pizza every Sunday
Oh yeah, she pulled a Peri : )
Ti 5/10
Bich, I have yet to find a pizza dough recipe that will pass muster. I'm trying yet another one.
,,,hey....I'm in good company with peri and cosdem!
The best (company)
Now off to grab a bite, hopefully will be back to at least get the 7's and halfway....
best is a nice thin crust italian crust.i hate doughy ones
That is the problem. All the dough recipes I have tried come out too bready.
2 tbs olive oil, 1 and 1/3 cups warm, non-chlorinated water. Put in bread maker [or bowl] Add 1 tbs yeast, let sit a min. Add 4 cups flour, put 1tsp salt on top and start mixing and kneading
hi all
What do you mean by bready?
I like New York style pizza crust. The kind you can fold.
Hi Cos.
it end up more like a loaf of bread than a true crust
Hello, Cosdem.
the crust should enhance what is on top,not overpower it
We don't make that, but I do like the NY crust. We bake in a tile lined oven, heated to 550 degrees
Then the oven is turned to 450 and baked for 11 minutes [with toppings on]
in the bistro we had a igloo style wood fired oven.thing ran at 600 degrees! used to toss them right on the hot flat stones and cook for 3-6 minutes!
used to use sterile wet cleaning rags on the end of a garden hoe to wash the stones when hot
was old world cooking at it's best
the 2nd as7 please
you would think it would not be clean but i know of no bug that can live in 600f!
as + electricity that makes your hair stick up
We never wash the stones, just scrape off any spillage. The oven makes the stones hot enough
I don't use soap on my non-stick cookware. Just really hot water, soak then wipe down with a soft cloth.
No soap on the cast iron either.
each morning,i would use the hoe to pull any wood bits out.then broom the stones.then start a new fire in one corner of the igloo then when up to temp a good stone wash
no,no soap
True Molly, I don't either, but I don't bake bread on non-stick.
re 6/21
pls
to be able to sense audio sounds again
ty cos
Cos, I read that Smash got horribly low ratings last night.
i havent even watched an episode this season yet!
If I thought they were going to get to season 3, I would say they need to get rid of McPhee. She is awful.
did they cut back on the singing? i heard they did
Somewhat. The problem is, the writing this season is not as good as last season.
they have a new writing staff right?
That would not surprise me. It seems like a totally different tone to the writing. And I don't mean that in a good way.
lemme checkk their odds for renewal
lol just google nbc renewals.. and theres an op-ed saying nbc will have to renew some shows but what???? since they all suck in ratings
The idiots has a great show in The Event and they canceled it.
The only other show I watch on NBC is Parenthood. And that has gone downhill.
what nbc shows......
oh yeah the only thing I watch on nbc is betty white's show
I see rosie o'donnell is on the season finale/series finale whichever it will be
clue for the ta 7 please?
There are 2 ta7. One is more delicious and the other is someone who does a kind of dance with clicky things on their shoes.
Oops 3. The other is clothes that are more ragged.
i have the clothes and the delicious one
oh got it, ty so much Molly
sheesh i should have seen that
Makes me think of Gregory Hines. We lost him too soon. : (
is the er7 related to er5?
hey all

Back for a while to knock a few more off...
anyone have the second st7?
And she's not talking about shots of gin. : D
the one that comes after electricity
lol Molly
maybe she means people
She might. She's on a pretty strict diet and could be kind of grumpy. : P
had to cut my call with mom short
st + what you listen with + first part of frozen water
Uh oh, was Mom being testy?
Okay Molly....I mean to get a few more words...
ok im missing the one .. before that? itrs the first 7 32
unless i have messed up which is about guaranteed today
We are joking Jill.
That I know....sorry if gruff, not meaning to be.. ((hugs))
no mom was getting way too personal discussing my dad and my uncle's problems with their lower gentilia
no ones got time for that!
but I caught her in a lie that really upset me
Totally agree wiht you cos....some topics are NOT mother-son appropriate
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day(and it has nothing to do with guns, gun laws or gun views, promise!!)
http://tinyurl.com/a6ohfuy
Ugh, lies from your Mother are NOT cool.
especially when it was about why she didnt come to my wedding.
getting more pissed by the minute... ugh. brb
I can't imagine A) Not going to one of my kid's weddings and B) lying to them about that. Not cool on either count.
How do I put this delicately....
The reason they couldnt come to my wedding was because my Dad had to "get something worked on in his lower gentilia area" and today Mom says he never got it done.. and im like wait...... what? end ended the call
Never lied, but also could not attend my son's marriaage...could not get time off work on short notice...btw, that marriage only lasted 3 years
I cannot confront her because I cannot talk to her abotu thatkind of things.
Does she have issues with your being gay?
Not since I was like 18
There are some things you don't share with your kids. As in anything having to do with your genitals or their Dad's genitals.
Guess I'm not going to Chicago in April.
Only too true molly
And I am sorry cos...that lie is pretty poor behavior on your mother
Cos I can't believe they have not come to see you in six years.
You can come to Montana cos....
idk why I bother. i didnt even get a christmas card or birthday card last year
Because you are a good son and trying to keep the communication open...don't beat yourself...you are being the bigger person
Their loss Cos. What a shame. : (
room at my table cos!
this is kinda the last straw tho lol
It should be. What a crappy thing to do.
ii need a bowl. brb
<---reminds self to put Colorado and Washington on my vacation list....
Hi all :)
Hey there lizlin! How are things down under?
Liz, we missed you while My Fair Lady was being sung earlier. : D
Wet - Jilly but otherwise fine. Looking forward to going to a wedding this afternoon / evening :)
You wouldn't have wanted to hear me sing, Molly, though I could've worked on your Cockney accents!
That is what I meant. We needed Cockney for Oh Wouldn't It Be Loverly. : D
Luvverly!
Well, 65 left. Must head out, hope to be back early enough to finish
Enjoy your evening Jilly :)
I student directed that show in college and it was painful to listen to some of the women audition.
keep the lines open if you can cosden.time is short.in the last 2 years we have lost my wifes father, mother and are to lose one brother in 6 months and all the things lost, the things left unsaid pile up at the funeral and have nowhere to go
I guess it's as bad as some UK attempts at US accents!
Just jumping into the middle of a conversation, but I agree with crossy! Even with a great relationship, there are so many things that you always wish you'd said!
Looks to me like Cos has done a good job at keeping the lines open and his parents are the ones who have slacked. Who doesn't send their kid something for Christmas?
Seems pretty low to me!
Oh I need to shut up or I'm going to get another lecture about being judgmental.
but like the saying goes"if it becomes hate,it is like an acid, and often does more harm to the vessel that contains it than anything else" i know it seems trite, but time has a way of passing
I'll just keep out of a conversation that I jumped into!
thanks liz.. im calmer now :)
Well cos, hugs from me! It's a pretty tough situation :)
and how can i judge anyone.this often says more about the judge than the one being judge and as of now i have yet to judge myself..
anyways, there must be more words hiding in this grid
been reading golden girls quotes to calm me down lol
betty white rocks!!!
Wish I could find them. Just listed at 37 - resorting to morewords if necessary, as time's short today.
there, there should be arguments on betty white:)) she kicks arse and takes names!
noarguments*
sigh..the keyboard is not my friend
i love that she is booked through 2018 at some casino in vegas:))

Does anyone have a clue for the ti5,12?
hi, wht - so tell me about jmc. we're going to be roomies and i want to know the skinny :)
what you might put on a cut, ti***ure of iodine
ty welki
clue for the tr10?
Well jmc is the person who introduced me to Babble, so she is clearly a bad influence.
jmc is fun to be around welki!
3 st7 shirlockc
that much i suspected *lol* more of a rhetorical question - i can't wait to meet her!!
I am sure you will have a good time. How is it that the two of you will be roomies?
didnt spend a lot of time with her but what we had .. it was fun. so ull have fun rooming with her im sure.. bring wine lol
i'm in new jersey now, visiting some of my children. she's driving up for a babble meet on friday and i invited her to stay with me
Oh nice! Friday night = late night
wine? no way! i've already stocked up on jack!
even better
I think jmc will make do, welki.
i'm hoping we have a good turnout - more than half a dozen have said they'd try to attend.
Hopefully, they will all be dug out by then.
I drove thru Jersey once. Was on turnpike. Did not hit traffic once. Epic win.
there's been no snow here and, from what i understand, little accumulation on the roads in d.c., so i'm hopeful that no one has any trouble with weather
Was it the middle of the night, cos?
no... like 8pm
I remember because a few hours later I got lost in a very scary part of Delaware
now we have TomTom and Garmin to guide us - down one way streets the wrong way, through farmers' fields and on top of railroad tracks :)
re7 please?
how long is the drive for you?
re + build
for me? if i drove, about 5 days. but i took a plane :)
Oh ok. Thats easier lol
depending on traffic, the drive for jmc should be about 3.5 hours, maybe 4
Oh thats not bad.
