Hi dears! How is every dear one of you this dear day?
Well thanks, Molly - and you?
I'm good. Jumping on the "dear" bandwagon. : D
And a dear day it is. Sunshire, warm temps. Everything's green after the rain
Can you please explain the clam clue - your last words?
Sounds lovely bichon
Spelled with an A in the first vowel place, a qu6 is a kind of clam.
Ah! One of my 5 missing q's then! Not very up on clams!
I was referring to the qu6/36 and 7/52. I think of it as a New England term, not sure if that is right.
Actually I have 2 x qu 6~
Those I don't have!
They involve a pig word.
Not up on pigs either! Perhaps I'm just tired!
Found it! Thanks
Totally new words to me. Don't think I've actually seen them in the time I've been on babble.
I know the lam word even though I don't eat bivalves
I've never heard of that clam word - perhaps not common here or in the UK?
*clam even
Living in New England, I hear the word a lot
It's from an American Indian [New England tribe] term
Does seem to be a New England speciality - just googled the word.
Yes, I saw that. I'll try to remember the word for future use.
The Indian tribe, the Narraganset, are in Rhode Island, the next state to the east of Connecticut, where I live

We're so tiny but we have over 400 miles of coastline.
I've been to Misquamicut a few times
Just about got wiped out by Sandy but it's coming back
I love qu**** chowder
The beach I grew up at in New York, Rockaway, got wiped out too
That's good to hear. We didn't have Sandy but Oswald did a lot of damage to the beaches here and it's good to see that they're also coming back - though some houses look pretty precarious at the moment.
that'd be chowda annie lol
bichon, Rockaway is in bad shape but they are coming back
west, youre right, chowda it is
It's good to hear that places are clinging on and reestablishing themselves.
Boston or Manhattan?
I'm off to bed, with 40 left for tomorrow. Enjoy your days everyone :)
I like them both but RI has it's own version..a combination of both

yw..I'm so excited about your trip..when are you going?
We leave the 29th and excitedd is not the word for it.
how long will you be gone?
two weeks. so much to see and do. We'll be walking from town to town.
did you plan the trip or did a travel agent do it for you?
We made the booking with a Cotswold walking company. They booked the inns for us. They also pick us up at the train station and bring us to the first place. They also transport our luggage from place to place. At the end, we're going to stay in Oxford for a couple of nights. We booked the air transport ourselves and got our own trip insurance
that sounds ideal I'm so jealous
Sounds marvelous.

Have I ever told y'all about The Sweet Potato Queens dream bar? Where no women under 40 are allowed and mumus are the dress code?
not a fan of mumus but like the general concept
mumus?
ty molls
a shapeless hawaiian dress that was popular in the 60s
Oh my, Molls. Where is this place?
ahh,ok, thanks jmc.i'm going to google it
babble is always good for education. . . .
In someone's dreams, Soodle. You should read those books, they are hysterical.
*Wonders what they call a mumu in the UK*
Lilliann, I never heard of mumus either, but I'm loving the sound of them. No sucking in......
i've just wikipedia'd it....lovely!
definitely no sucking in in a mumu. . .
Probably something cutesy like a "tatty" or a "swishy"
go onto wikipedia soodle and it has a picture of a very fetching floral one :)
i think they call them dusters. . .
nbt
i don't know what we would call it molly, i'm lost for words :) a tent, baggy dress.it's definitely something from a few decades ago
Well, in these recessionary times, Molls, I think The Sweet Potato Queens Dream Bar is an investment well worth pursuing!
I think they call it The Bitch Bar. I know there are recipes for Bitch Bar food.
And I think the rules not only include no one under 40, but also no one who has had "work done".
a tent was a different dress. . . no folds. . .
Ahem. I just wiki-ed mumu. I think I'll keep sucking in..... (So what if my belly button falls out my butt).
mumu is more casual. . .
i am more a caftan fan. . .
The point is, the dress code does not require "sucking in".
i am hungry and it is nearly 3 hours until the game and supper.
So, to amend it for all the nit pickers, dress code is loose flowy clothing that does not require spandex or sucking in.
All bound for Mu Mu Land!
Or spanx or whatever they are calling fat binders these days.
lol soodle, i'm with ya there :)
okay i am off to change into my dress jeans and get something to eat before the game. . . see you all tomorrow since i doubt i will come back after the game is over. . .
they don't want much this bar, do they?
i think you should wear a mumu with your tutu jmc :)
have fun, don't orget the tutu - you can swing it around over your head wheneveer they get a run
have fun jmc and tc
Lol! Back in the day, when the gals & me were planning a night out, it was always decided in advance whether it was going to be a 'drinkin' night, or a posing night. Drinking nights were loose jeans & baggy tops. Posing nights were spanx, high heels & smart dresses. Drinkin' nights were always sooo much more enjoyable!!
well, i suppose that it good then molly as women won't think that they have to be stick thin to get into a club, like our stringfellows in london
I am happy to say that I have reached a time in my life where I no longer feel the need to dress like a poser.
i can drink whether i'm posing or in bin bag :)
By in large, men are more interested in seeing you out of your clothes, than in them.
saying that, if i embarrass myself i can always hide in teh bin bag!
And I think Soodle is lost in the 50's because she used "gals" and "smart dresses" in the same story.
Many posing nights degenerated into drinking nights. One I remember.... I had a leather skirt on. (It WAS the '80's). I spilled a full drink onto my lap. Not a problem to Soodle. I calmly asked the barman for a straw, and proceeded to drink my drink from my lap!! Ah! Them were the days. :-)
i think men like women in sexy clothes and then without.i like my hubby in a nice fitting pair of jeans
that's my kinda girl soodle :) lol
wants to go on a pub crawl with soodles :))
well, you didn't want to waste it.it cost money :)
lucky it was leather, otherwise it would have been a right waste!
hi again - back to finish
I've been on very few pub crawls. I've set out on many, but usually seem to get stuck in the second or third pub.
hi nan :)
hi nan
Ahem, you did not poll the bar to see if some handsome young man would like to drink the drink out of your lap? Slacker.
Hello Nan.
i've been on a few pub crawls and gone around 5 or 6 but always ended up back in the first one...it's a bit like dress shopping but more fun :)
You see, Molly, thats where age overcomes youth! If that happened to me now, I would be roaring for handsome young men to come and slurp from the skirt of soodle. Back then, I was a bashful young thing.
However, the ship of leather-wearing skirts has sailed. Alas.
More Sweet Potato Queen philosopy...Well behaved women rarely make history.
first th 6, please?
And before someone corrects me, I know that is a quote from Laurel Ulrich.
th + sport where horse riders use mallets, minus the P and plural

Note to self. Read those books!! Preferably before the long awaited Molly/Soodle meet-up!
Not only are those books hilarious, but they have lots of good recipes in them. These women are all about good food and lots of drinks.
And no sucking in!

On our first trip to Disney, our youngest was 6. She was too small to go on most of the rides. So, we went on the the Winnie the Pooh ride again. And again. And again. And the teacups. And Winnie the Pooh again. You get the picture!

By the time my kids were 10, they had visited 4 continents. They missed a bit of school, but I always reasoned that what they missed in their syllabus, they made up for in life experience. I am yet to be proved wrong.
Now I sound like a finger wagger. I better go. G'night all. :-)
Back in the day??? It seems like every few months, you are going "on holiday". You are fortunate to be able to do that.
Poor lil' Molly has never been to Disney. *Looks sadly at her Buster Brown shoes*
I won the holiday to Florida. I won the trip to Rome. My daughter win the trip to Eurodisney. We won (en fanile) the trip to Kenya & Thailand. We have been exceptionally lucky.
En famile....
That's an understatement. I've never heard of one family winning that many trips.
wow
soodle, if that happens here it is taxed, and when we won a trip it was valued very high by the giver, our tax was qu5 high
i need to finish before goin out for the evening
There was a radio presenter here called Gerry Ryan. He specialised in being a 'Shock Jock'. He cultivated a listenership that appreciated his humour. I, seemingly, gelled with his train of thought. Heck. I'm not over analysing it! I won heaps of holidays. Thank You Gerry Ryan!
ours was to the bahamas via radio as well. hated the bahamas
Oh I get it now. A radio DJ groupie. Special favors for "special favors".

Sorry - typo in wrong box
Actually, Molly, you are communicating with an actual radio DJ, in Soodle!!! (I was told I have a face for radii)!!! I may not be able to walk the walk, but I sure as heck can talk the talk!
And the winner of the trip is....Soodle! Once again! Funny how that happens, isn't it?
only have 5 of the Q words: 4,5,5,5,6
And I keep telling you that your face is not important when it comes to radio work, your voice is.

Ask and ye shall receive. Especially if you are Soodle. : D

I like remembering the weird looking words - I wonder if that "hyet" from Greek is in any other word in English
(No points for guessing the obvious plural)
molly: abc renewed once and picked up once: wondeland!
I'm not surprised Cos.
they also renewed the neighbors. every show i watch on a weekly basis has been renewed. first time that has happened. i am pleased.
Ahh, just "hyetal" which I didn't know
I'm just glad to see that Scandal gets a season 3. That show has me riveted every week. Not surprised to see Grey's Anatomy or Castle renewed, but both those shows are getting stale and need to wrap things up next season.
was reading an article saying abc needs to get its act together since grey's is getting stale...
john lithgow is the white rabbit!!
I'm not sure I want to commit to a Once spin-off when I am getting bored with Once.

Good news, cos.
This has been a good year for you. May the good times continue to roll.
It has and its an odd number year too.. so the curse is broken?
Off to finish a quilt binding...pfft.
The curse only stays in effect as long as you believe in the curse.
