houseguest finally left. Nobody at hotel Ruby 'ti June
Is that a good thing Ruby
YES
Betcha enjoyed it though, ruby.
I always look forward to guests but then forget how tiring it is
except that both dogs got loose (found a hole in the fence) and Rufie wound up on the median in the village, horrible
My father used to say it was good to see the kids coming but it was also good to see them going.
fortunately, my friend helped me get him back as he was terrified and I can't lift him
with cars whizzing by
they didnt get hurt, did they?
Aw, sorry to hear that ruby. Just glad that he didn't get hit.
no, but now they have to be confined until |I can get somebody here to add more wire or another layer to the fence
that must of been very scary for you
Fortunately, my fancy neighbor whi was giving a party saw him ut through her yard and one of her guests gave chase while I got the car
I would like a week without drama!

how are you feeling rose?
you two should see my home...it's like a florist....flowers everywhere.
sirs
aw sweetie, how lovely!
just shove me into th pb and give me some tranqs, please
ruby, just tired, sweetie, and achy.
awww ruby....*passes the valium*
*gently rubs rose's sore muscles*
sprite, both my sons gave me flowers today, and so did my ex-daughter-in-law. and himself gave me some beautiful deep pink roses, and i already had a vase of chrysantheums from my own garden.
oh rose, how lovely! And how well deserved :) Looks like my children and husband have forgotten about mother's day.
ahhhh, thanx sprite. just what i need, hun
I'm sure i won't hear from my son after that wful visit
aaaggghhh! how dreadful....but it's still early over there is it not?
he's 7 hours earlier, but i don't think it will matter. now I HAVE TO DEL WITH NASTY HUBAND AND ERRNT DOGS
yes it is, rose. In his defence I can say that my husband is out camping this weekend. But both the kids are home now. We usually don't do big gifts, but we do something nice for breakfast, hugs and maybe flowers or something sweet.
i gave my ex-DIL a posy of yellow roses with those tiny little white flowers in it. both her sons are in western australia. i thought they woild cheer her up, but she burst into tears.
and then the big question, lol... do I remind them or not? Would I appreciate anything after having had to remind them?
awwww but those are good tears, rose. You touched her.
*nodding head* i know what you mean sprite.
she is a very special young lady, sprite. and my son is an idiot!!!!
don't remind them, sprite, it looks too whiny. Just "forget' their next occasions. Maybe they'll catch on
:D wtg rose! I love it the two of you kept in contact.
poor ruby......
oh I am not big on revenche, ruby. It is just that I don't really like to remind them... the worth of today is in them remembering and appreciating, right? Not in having to do something for needy mother.
sprite, i'm a sort of surrogate mum to her. since her father died, her own mum has completely gone to pieces. yes, understandable, but she now must move on, and stop leaning on her daughter so much.
my dil stopped thanking me for (many) gifts, so I stopped st=ending any
omg... indeed rose... so important to be able to look past your own pain and see that of others... especially your children's.
right you are, ruby. If not appreciated, don't bother.
hey sprite, why don't you suggest you all go out for lunch/arvo tea, your shout, to celebrate mother's day.
she's from a very large, rude famiy and thinks in her heart, that i am a trrible snob. Tant pis for her
have the camera ready, i wanna see th5 faces.
great idea! Just don't have the money for it atm. We are barely managing as it is. Ah well, they are good people, they don't mean to hurt me at all.
roflol rose
her loss, ruby
but you know what a snob I am, sprite lol
ruby.....let her go, hun. if she thinks like that, it's not worth dwelling on.
hehehe indeed ruby! Entertaining people in your kitchen :P
but very frmally,lol
omg...did you have serviettes, then, ruby?
very. And it was FUN ;)
or did you use your sleeves?
table cloth, rose. Tsk.
always coth serviettes, rose, even in the kitchen
tsk, sleeves, I meant.
lolol, sprite
see you later, kids, waiting for handyman
bye ruby, have a good day anyway
okay, hun. hope you have a good one.
*Chuckles*...How i love the chog when you th5 lovely ladies are here. Always puts a smile on my face :-)
Oh hello by the way.
hi zooz *hugs* and I always love to see you
whoot, hellooo zooz
Oh what a nice scent...I can smell your flowers from here, Rose...teehee
how are you today, zooz? Any fun things planned? And are you having a hesitant sun as I do, here?
Going to a carboot sale with parents..they love that sort of thing...The sun is trying to come out to play, but finding it difficult with all the clouds in the way.
lol, zooz. there are roses(surprise, surprise), gerberas, chrysanthemums, snap-dragons, and some lovely proteas with fragrant gum leaves.
you are a good son, zooz! Funny that we often have the same kind of weather. I have noted before. :)
*Hands Sprite A beutiful Happy mothers day card* as you are like our babble mother :-)
my husband and daughter have gone to a bootsale and although the sun is shining here, it is very cold in my living room and as i am chair bound I have a fan heater on
awwww zooz... that is so sweet. Thank you!
hey jenny.
hi Jjenny :) Good to keep warm. How are you feeling?
Hello, Jenny..i can tell you are still very sore..bless you..hope you heal soon.
Sprite I agree with you don't tell them they have forgotton! it was my birthday yesterday and my son obviously forgot all about it - if i remind him, he will send a bunch of flowers which he can't afford and i don't really want - i just wanted a telephone call
Belated happy birthday to you, Jenny.
I know exactly what you mean, Jjenny. *hugs* And a belated happy birthday from me, with serpentines and balloons and a warm hug.
awww, jenny. i know it hurts, hun. one of my sons has divorced me, so i know how it hurts. .....but from me
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A SPECIAL FRIEND!!!!
Hi zoozzoom, i am getting better but the doc said 4 - 6 weeks, so why do i feel after 2 weeks i should be better
I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want to distance themselves from you, rose.
thank you all my babble friends.
Snap dragons??...must google those.
because being in pain and needing help sucks big time, Jjenny. It is hard to have patience while healing.
because you are typically female, lol. we are not used to sitting around and not 'doing'.
snap dragons = antirhinans(sp?)
Jenny..we humans are very impatient creatures..the body needs time to fix its self.
My husband has been absolutely wonderful but... he doesn't understand the 'womans' touch e.g. he doesn't plump up the cushions, straighten the ornaments etc
yes Jjenny, Antirrhinum indeed.
and he won't feel fully at home without knowing why until you can fix it again, Jjenny...
jenny, you should have seen me, after my knee op. i nearly drove himself nuts...wanted to do everything for myself, but was unable to do so.
spelling never was my strong point which is why i find babble so difficult
I know just how you feel rose
babble is a great teacher, Jjenny, and anyway, we understand you perfectly!
jenny, i spent many times in tears of frustration.
Oh those flowers..i used to love pulling the flower off and using it as a talking puppet when i was a wee little nipper.
opps sorry..i am a bit behind on the convo.
yeah we call them 'lion's mouths' here
Nice description, Sprite *thinking why did i not come up with that name*
me too, rose and Jjenny... when I couldn't walk after the birth of my daughter, and all those years after when I could only walk like a lame goose.
:D zooz! And the convo is always flexible here... you are not behind, just kicking up one of the themes.
s'okay, zooz. most men can't keep up with a woman's conversation. lol
Teehee..i wil not argue with that statement, Rose :-)
small wonder... we hop and skip and dance and giggle
:-)
*thinks* what a wise man zooz is!!!
I second that
I can sit quite comfortbly now with my knee bent, which is so much better than having a stiff leg. I still look horrendous with two black eyes, bruising right down to my neck and a huge purple bump on my forehead. This lump is not painful, but is slightly squishy as it is full of blood!
Eww..sounds painful, even if you say it isn't..poor, Jenny :-(
ouch, jenny. you poor darling! are you using arnica ointment? it reduces bruising very well.
aw Jjenny! Small wonder you don't feel good. You need loads of tlc to heal. Be good to yourself, hun.
dinner ready.... love and hugs to you all.
I keep wanting to type 'Notoriety'..but i know it is not in the grid.
Am on Warfarin so can't use arnica - injuries could have been so much worse - no broken bones thank goodness
bye rose, enjoy! *hug*
Enjoy your meal, Rose :-)
but so close, zooz
I was on Warfarin for six months not so long ago, Jenny..had to keep getting check ups every week..so annoying.
no broken bones is good. But bruising takes time to heal. And don't worry about feeling down... body and mind are conspiring to keep you calm enough to heal, so you are bound to feel low.
Ditto, Sprite
I am on it for life after a blood clot on the lungs and I had it down to blood tests once a month but any accident or infection throws the results and i'm back to every week at the moment
frustrating, Jjenny. *careful gentle hugs*
Well that is understandable why it has gone back to weekly..but once the wounds have healed, i am sure it will go back to monthly again :-)
thanks for all the chat, but visitors due in 5 mins so will say goodbye all for now.
bye Jjenny, all the best!
Ok it looks like it is carboot sale time...((Sprite)), ((Rose)), ((Jenny))...have a great day all..and Happy mothers day once again, Sprite...bye.
zooz, have a lovely day with your parents. *hugs*
fireflies. Bye all.
Hi all, Back again for a little bit. U still here jenny? I have been on warfarin since 1996 due to clots of unknown origin but back in 2009 when i fell down stairs at work I had black eyes and all sort of crappy stuff. My control is v hit and niss and the results in the spring and autumn are always bad - either too high or too low. Its a pain not being able to use arnica. You also need to steer clear of St Johns Wort and Gingko biloba
omg jenny take care of yourself i hope you feel better prayers to you
happy mothers day

that's why i'm driving a 300 mile dog transport today -- wanted to stay BUSY!

ty, unea. not my favorite word...lol
:-D
♥♥♥forever Moms♥♥♥
:)
who are you transporting today?
today: young black lab and german shepherd puppy :-)
not sure what they have planned yet Liz...I do know they are fixing dinner :)
<---Will take a ♥ since I am a forever Mom, to the two legged kind : D
black lab is " Miss Daisy" LOL
thanks for doing that une!
Enjoy - look forward to hearing about it!
aww...bet he/she is adorable une..what a nice mix
Oh! A mix! I thought 2 dogs!
Sounds lovely.
love to the pup and new forever
yes -- 2 dogs!
ah...I mis read....lol
even more love then!
gotta run -- good to see everyone! love to all *poof*
it was ambiguous but the clue to the probability of two dogs was une saying "young" at the beginning and "puppy" at the end - would be redundant if one dog, thus odds were she meant two.
Bye Une - safe drive :)
Bye une...have safe and wonderful trip :)
The best Mothers Day my older two ever pulled off when they were teenagers was to get up around 8 (an ungodly hour for them at the time) and fix me breakfast in bed. It was served in a reconverted pizza delivery box with ____ & ____'s Delivery Service Written on the box. Later, when I expected to find a disastrously dirty kitchen, I found it spotless. They, of course, had gone back to bed. : D
Spotless kitchen after 2 teen boys - wow! A miracle and certainly the best surprise!
safe travels, Unea
lol..didn't read it that carefully hurshy...but puppy made me think one
whoa didn't expect he8 to have actually made it into the dictionary
love the story, Molly and a wonderful pressie!
My kids are golden. I'm a very lucky Mom.
Very nice Molly...especially the clean kitchen afterwards :D
I like the humour of what was written on the box.
yes, nice personal touch
Well, it was actually their names, which I omitted from my story.
I realised - that's what I liked about it!
I assumed that Molly :)
I keep a picture of that box on my refrigerator.
we babblers are grand at filling in the blanks :)
And at many other things! And modest too!
:D

Thanks, Molly.

I kept trying to add an "ess" to make it female...duh
I did the same thing! Morning all...
Morning, Champ.
Ah, then a better clue would be...change the beginning to make it a female version of hi7. : )
Yes! The "ess" is more obvious, or I'm just more dim... ;)
dimmer? whatevs...it's a lazy morning.
At least I can say I accomplished something today...
See you all tomorrow.

i didn't have a problem
Try a river cruise, ruru - only about 300 passengers and you see lots. My favourite was the Amsterdam - Budapest one. Can recommend Viking Cruises if you want to be thoroughly pampered.
ok--thanks--I guess Iam the lucky ticket holder then--lol
I would like to do an Alaskan Cruise sometime and one of New Zealand
Maybe one around Iran.. that'd be exciting

phantom "rotisserie"
Good one, Crossy.

and it is soo close too, zooz
My phantom is : Notoriety.
good one also:))
And fireworks for me.
acck! momentum slowing...babble wall rising.. and WHAMMO! 60 words in crossy hits his first babble wall:(

Will let you get on..Take care, Crossy..might see you here tomorrow..bye.
phantom "heiress"

phantom "risotto"
hi again :)
hehe...I keep seeing risotto too
hi all, just popped on quickly to tell crossy that the german soup with bacon is on my profile
thanks, lilliann...i copied the recipe.
yvw pen.we also add other veg to ours aswell and a bowful is filling
cool
one can almost spell rotisserie
aye, that's definitely one phantom pen
also startled that jersies is not a legit plural
it may be jerseys...
happy mothers day to all the mothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, estranged mothers, substitute mothers, and those whose mothers have passed on
Damn 2Bit, you really covered the whole gamut there.
i think pen is right dan and hi
good evening miss molly :)
happy mothers day to all the mam's over the pond
Thanks L, just got back from a nice lunch with my kids.
lovely.it's nice to be treated. the bairn treated me to an indian take away tonight out of her pocket money
we did share a meal and i will put the money in her purse when she's not looking, otherwise she won't accept it.it's not mother's day here but the bairn and i have had a lovely day, playing monopoly and then monopoly millionare and then i taught her how to iron and we did it together and i've had a lovely day with her without falling out for a change.
That's nice L. Enjoy those times with her while you can. She will be grown and out of the house before you know it.
were you pressed for time to teach her about ironing lillian?
There are times when I wish I had not been taught how to iron. Truly.
i first ironed when i was 4 . . . i stood on a chair and ironed hankies. . .
Ironing is relaxing.
haha ru :)
when i married hubby i told him if he wanted ironed shirt he had to iron them himself. . .so he did it during saturday football games on tv
I'm glad it is for you Seain. For me, lying in a hammock is relaxing. Ironing is a pain in the ass.
i am will molls on this one
*with
when she was little i use to iron and she'd be next to me with her little ironing board and toy iron ironing towels and te towels
yeah, either it's something you enjoy or so not :)
good for you jmc.my huuby irons when he is home
Men's dress shirts are the worst. I have yet to meet a man who captivated me enough to get me to iron his dress shirts.
on the other hand weeding is relaxing to me
my dad's work shorts went to the cleaners.
well none of my clothes needed ironing and if they did i would rather wear them wrinkled. . .
i agree with molly. i hate ironing and can only do a little at a time because of the arthritis in my fingers, so it takes longer
teaching me to iron would be a new wrinkle in my life
work shorts??
reading is relaxing to me
er, work shirts. Secret Service does not allow shorts.
Thank you JMC. I was just sitting here say "work shorts" over and over to myself, trying to let it make sense.
i was wondering maybe he was a mail carrier...ups. ...something
well, USPS has shorts as alternate uniform.
i would never try to straighten you out ru
Oh now I want to see a Secret Service agent in shorts. : D
even if I pleated with you JM?
no matter how you pressed me
The bicycle cops look EXCEPTIONALLY good in shorts.
Hello and Happy Mothers Day to all my Mom Babblers
well, i must away, as i'm picking up a friend from Darlington, MD to take him home, and 95N is closed somewher between Laurel and Baltimore. WEEEE
so, until later, yall. :)
bye dc and tc
phone
I thought that stretch of 95 was only closed overnight.
why is it closed?
hi teach
Roadwork. But it's only fully closed between midnight and 4AM. Seain must have party plans.
hi teach
bye
Teach is apparently into the Mother's Day champagne. : D
that makes more sense then what they did in phiile one friday evening around rush hour on 95. . . thought i would sprout roots.
bye ricer
oooops bye river
bye river,tc
i didn't think of champagne...maybe i should go buy a bottle. . .
i am so annoyed. . . i had my lawn mower plugged in all winter only it turned out they never connected the plug to electricity so it is dead as a doornail and then i tired to cut my lawn with a weedwhacker and the thing feel apart in my hands. . . .
I always keep a bottle of champagne chilled. It's my way of telling The Universe I'm ready to celebrate. : D
you are annoyed?? it is snowing like hell here right now.
that's a bummer jmc
pack the lawnmower away and bring the shovel back out
now that you mention it molls there is one in the fridge!
crossy the german soup recipe is in my profile for you
tyvm lillian
my cat keeps getting lost in the grass crossy. . . but i am grateful it is not snow
I'm a little concerned about the weather here. It's supposed to be a low of 44 tonight and there are freeze warnings up Deep Creek Lake way. Global warming...hahahahaha!
champagne? i can't afford champagne,plus i never spend more than a fiver on wine...i'm a cheap skate :)
i sent an email to the construction guy because i paid for electricity to that shed. . . he said the electric guy would call me. . .
Send him another email and tell him to come mow your lawn. : P
i believe the current term in climate change. . .
i really must get a nice set of kitchen scales.all these wonderful recepies and here us canucks and american are still creating goodies measuring by volume vs weight which is more sensible
i may do that . . . i am trying to revive my lawnmower. . i am hoping if i charge it enough and glue the weedwhacker back together i will be able to hit the grass back a little. . .
you can usually get champagne on sell right after new year lill
i measure by eyeball which is probably why i can bake forshizzle.
i normally just use tablesppons and each heaped tablespoon is about an ounze and it's always worked for me
i work in ounzes not grams
scales are much better when flour is involved however.been meaning to get a nice set in metric
the amreican recipies are easy as i still have a pile of old measuring cups under the counter
i still add flour in tbsp's crossy and my cakes and yorkies always turn out well
lol,i do my yorkies by eye:))
i have some measuring cups and spoons somewhere but obviously our recipes never say cups,it's always ounzes or grammes
Never cooked or baked by ounces, never will. Cup and spoon measures work just fine for me.
so many ways, that is what makes each kitchen interesting
okay i am off to write a will for a client . .. .bbl maybe
122 left. . .
tc,jmc
bye jmc,tc
I got a recipe from someone once that called for "three plops of relish". The weird thing was, I knew exactly what she meant.
tonight i am doing cubed chicken breast in a broccoli cream sauce wrapped in crecent roll dough and topped with cheese and baked in the oven
and dashes,and pinches
lol molly...i like the plops :)
everyone who plays in a kitchen knows exactly what a dash and a pinch is also:))
crecent roll dough, is that the shap or the make crossy?
Today is one of those days I'm glad I have a freezer stocked with portions I've made before. I'm fixing the boy gumbo and French bread. I am too full from lunch to even think about dinner.
the stuff pilsbury sells in those cans in the dairy section
It's canned dough L. Puff pastry is a good substitute if you don't get it over there.
yes indeed
of course it is heart attack on a plate, but looks and smells so good
i am on at least my 6th life now anyways ,so i enjoy my food
i've seen pilsbury here as in cookie dough, but puff pastry sounds good.it sounds nice crossy
as do i...making me hungry here...
it looks very tasty and easy, you are just basically making chicken broccoli turnovers and baking them with shredded cheese on top
since the filling is already cooked it takes a short time to bake the cheese onto it and cook the dough
my daughter is making cornish pasties at school on tuesday but what makes me laugh is that they have to cook the filling at home and take it in as they won't have time to do that and cook them.they made the pastry last week at school and froze it.why cook something at school when you've made the main thing at home? why don't they make something they do have time to cook
it is like the bake sales now that can only have pre packaged store snacks.all a shadow of what they used to be
I'll use pie crust or puff pastry over the canned dough anytime. Not a big fan of the canned dough.
Evening all. Crossy, I've been both fascinated and delighted by your fellow countryman Cmdr Chris Hadfield, and his pictures from the international space station. What a guy!
i've never had tinned pastry but i must admit i normally buy my pastry now as it is alot easier than making it, especially filo.far too fiddly to make
he amazing indeed:)
hi soodle :)
i try and catch all his video feeds
the wet washcloth one he did was quite fascinating
I just downloaded the NASA app, and watched him handing over command of the ISS to the Russians. It was very emotional. Hi Lilliann. Hi Molls
I just downloaded the NASA app, and watched him handing over command of the ISS to the Russians. It was very emotional. Hi Lilliann. Hi Molls
yes, some of them are coming home tuesday i believe
Meh! Sorry about the double post.
whould i would love would be to see live feeds from the soyuz capsules
good lord my typing is bad today.just translate lol
L, filo is way too fiddly to make (I like that word). Why bother when you can get it pre-made. The crescent dough from Pillsbury has an odd taste that I don't care for, so I use other things to replace it in recipes that call for it.
puff pastry is a pain in the butt to make aswell.why go through all that when it is just as cheap to buy it fresh or frozen.i'm even lazier and if i can get it rolled out already i will
yup
<------ Firm believer in frozen pastry!! Lilly, Jus-rol do great frozen pastries, filo, puff, short-crust etc
i do like jus-rol pastry soodle
now crossy wants home made meat pies..
and a loaf of italian crusty bread slathered in creamery butter:))
why do some films have to have so much swearing in them.i started to watch layer cake on film 4 and it was just violent and every other word was a swear word and now i'm watching the inbetweeners which is another english film and that is all swear words!!
lillian, now my son is finished high school we are de-programming him to get rid of all the foul language
i was going to cook mince and dumplings for tea but then the bairn said she would treat us both to a curry and i didn't really fancy one but she wanted to treat me, so i'll cook it tomorrow instead and half the mince for her pasties for tuesday
I'm Irish. I'm totally oblivious to foul language. I can swear for 15 minutes straight without repeating myself.
can anyone give me clues for the at 7/32 and he 8/55?
hehe, love the earth irish street lingo
earthy
i wish my daughter was finishing so i could do the same crossy as she is getting a mouth like a sewer.her excuse is that she hears it all the time at school but i've told her it doesn't mean she has to copy everyone.we live opposite a high school and when i hear the language of the bairns going by i cringe and they stand outside school smoking, we wouldn't dare when i was at school.id we smoked we waited until we were well away from it to light up
at 7/32 does not believe in god
andf he 8 = a female version of hi7/40
Got that at...i need the second one
He 8 is a weird one, Pen. 7/40, but femaled...,,
thats all i have for now.have not listed yet
soodle, the bairn made me laugh the other day but i didn't do it in front of her. she said if i say fu***** i won't i'll say feckin, the irish word instead as it doesn't sound so rude.i told her either would not be good as she doesn't need to use that word and instead of saying sh** which seems to be the word of the month i told her to say shittake mushrooms :)
at7, the first one is when you need a drink
thanks, crossie....got the he word
Lol Lilliann. I delighted my nephews with the following joke..... What's a Shitzu? A zoo with no animals!
lol soodle
i have a tennis friend who says shitake mushrooms all the time while playing... ;o)
I'm the same as Soodle. I know when to use it and when not to, but I still swear like a sailor most of the time.
I'm the same as Soodle. I know when to use it and when not to, but I still swear like a sailor most of the time.
thanks for the at, lilliann....i am done!!
i can swear but i try not to do it in front of the bairn and i don't swear alot but i don't like my 13 year old to use language like that
yw pen and wtg!! :)
The 'feck' word is perfectly acceptable here as a substitute for the offensive word.
i must admit i sometimes say feck as it doesn't sound so bad
saying that, you can't get away from swearing as it's on the tv alot and even the singer that the kids today like swear in their songs
Father Ted made the whole Feck thing socially acceptable!
Sorry, internet burped on me.
i like father ted
I saw a television show recently where a judge made a person testifying use the replacement word "fluff". Try it sometime. It's pretty funny. : D
Molly, did you ever have the pleasure of watching Father Ted?
i like Mrs Brown's Boys too
Oh, Mrs Brown's Boys is hilarious. I can't stand Brendan O Carroll, but I love Mrs Brown.
I just checked. Father Ted is on Hulu. I will have to watch it sometime.
Do, Molly. I'd be very interested to hear your opinion. I wonder if it's too 'Irish' to cross the Atlantic.
We watch Fr. Ted -- excellent, and travels well :)
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
There is very little that is "too Irish" for me.
Hi Min!
hi ch12 and minver
Pretty Mother's Day icon Min.
Well then, fasten your safety belt, and enjoy!
Hello Min.
Thank you and happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there
UGH http://alturl.com/55qrk
I'm docent today at our local museum, and no one is coming in, probably because it's Mother's Day. So instead of working on research, I'm babbling :). Happy M's day to all.
A's Astounded! 9 left
Does anybody have a clue for second he 7/32 word please?
Mmm... the grid I'm working on only has 4 A's.
I've decided that if I'm not going to get any grandchildren (which would be the only reason to clean up my sewer mouth at this point) then I am just going to become the weird old lady who cusses like a sailor.
Now there's an idea, Molly! LOL
with a bunch of cats yes?
Like somebody who benifits from a will, without the 'in'
lol molly
My brother gave my mom my share of grandkids lol (he has 4 kids.... so my mom doesnt need anymore)
hi cos
Oh Cos, you know me better than that. Cats? Um...no.
lol but what else will you be able to talk about on here then? :P
hi everyone.. Happys Mom Day all!
Hello cosdem! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log
i'm sure molly will always find something to moan, i mean chat about :)
someone here. bbl
Thanks for that he7/32 clue Soodle. I just found the word.
Flips the bird at L. : P
H's Hampered! 8 left
Hhappy to help Min. :-)
well, i suppose it's better than your sewer mouth :D
Darn, should have told L to fluff off. : P
S's Stamped! 6 left
lol
<----- can't wait to tell somebody to fluff off tomorrow.
yesterday was jacket weather so i decided i may need one today.. went outside and instantly broke in sweats...
you can come over here, cosdem,it is snowing here atm
it's been cold and wet here all day.
Saving my last word for later on tonight. Time for a st5/14
lol ive had my fill of snow... last week was the first week it didn't snow since like december
85 tomorrow and tuesday!
First person to annoy Soodle tomorrow will be told to go forth and FLUFF OFF!
well,we best all behave then:)
I prefer "fuzz off", myself.
lol soodle.i'll have to tell my bairn to use that word.i can't see her using it though
Thanks for the Mrs. Brown's talk, y'all. Now I have Herman's Hermits blaring in my head.
fuzz here is a slang word for police gremlin and hi
*checks everyone's temperature*
In the U.S. too, but it's open to definitions as a verb!
Fuzz used to be slang for police here, but I haven't heard anyone use it in years.
fuzz used to be used here also in that context, among other less savory titles
*Hopes Ru is not using THAT thermometer*
the one that drives me nuts, you do not hear it up here but on tv it is "po-po"
lol
*Hopes he at least washes it after each person is checked*
that's interesting, i just thought it was used here.my dad was a policeman and got used to being called loads of names
it is not saturday night on the cinemax channel :P
Po-po is just as dumb as the rest of the "in da house" slang that people use.
especially depending on where he is sticking the thermometer gremlin :)
YOLO!!!
LOL! LOL! LOL!
lets do the gangham style because YOLO! </snark>
and baby-dadda and baby-momma..makes me cringe asnd not asked but "aksed" ..shudder
Or axed. I axed him if he had some weed.
a friend yesterday told m she broke up with her boyfriend because her quote.. "her boyfriend's baby's mama was in the way" i told her its time for her to find a new direction then
The gangham guy makes me nauseous.
my biggest pet peeve is "k" -- if ryan texts me "k" oh i get mad lol
k,i will not do that again, cos
;))
How about "kk"?
Worse ---> Kk?
Grem and I are sharing a brain today.
gangham style? and my daughter does k on texts and it drives me potty
no.. K is worse because its just one character! KK at least u have to type K twice :P
Gangnam style - the most watched internet video ever
i cant stand that video
never seen it:))
Agreed Grem, and now he's in a commercial. Urp.
me either crossy
i was craving pitaschos til tat commercial came on and i was over it.
Me too Cos. I'm seriously thinking of boycotting that brand of them.
what were they thinking? he was a fad. you dont put fads in a commercial.
you end up looking like these people who think they're 21 but look creepy doing it
isn't the gangham thing's 15 minutes over?
Pitascho doesnt know that Ru.
well they're nuts !
he'll be here all weekend ladies and gents. please tip ur waiter
Thank. You. Cos. Where do I get pistachios at 10.35 pm in rural Ireland to satisfy my Cos induced crave???
Amazon should get on same-day food deliveries.
watch the video and ull get over the craving! :)
Oh, how about the people who try to "sound" 21 and sound creepy doing it?
Fond memories of pistachios. Having spent 2 glorious weeks island hopping in Greece, we landed back in Athens airport with about 8 drachmas. All we could afford was a pack of pistachios. They kept body & soul together for 48 hours. We nearly ate the shells, we were that hungry!
Okay is a whole th5 keystrokes more than k. Come on is only one keystroke more than common. It's really not that hard to type like you have some command of language.
how bout young white guys driving around listening to LOUD rap music
I prefer "OK" since it's the original form.
Anything is better than k.
Ru, they are trying to be "brothas". They don't realize how white they are.
I look at the kids in my neighborhood driving by blasting rap music.. and I want to scream
my only joy is knowing they'll be wearing hearing aids at 40
Hesring aids, and braces to keep their pants up!
Probably not, if they're kids now. Technology will be able to cure hearing loss without hearing aids well before then.
Look at me! Look at me! I'm "hip" and use "da" instead of "the". Really?
I'm hip and make cool pluralz!
U r hip Grem, ur da bomb : D
lolkthx
some breaking news..12 peopele were shot in new orleans while participating in a mothers day parade..the world is turning to shit i swear
i posted that link earlier cross.. no one seemed to notice :( sad.
that is even worse
:(
http://tinyurl.com/cu98gh3
but none of the major news are carrying it and te link i provided said "apparent shooting"
nothing on CNN.
OK I see it on NBC news now.
I saw it Cos, and had already seen it on my news feed. Sad indeed.
I have to wonder why those who choose to live in the darkness seem to need to spread that around to the rest of us.
use my link
what do you mean by that molly?
a lot of "apparant" blood on the sidewalk...
Why else would someone choose to bomb an historic marathon or shoot up a Mother's Day parade? They live in the dark and decide to spread that around at happy occasions.
indeed, some strange people coming out of the woodwork
she means there are some very sick people in this world crossy
Good God above. A Mother's Day celebration was the target for some psycho? Sheesh! Words fail me.
hi all
hi smores :)
Hi Smores. :-)
And I get that their are sick, dark, tortured people. I just wish they would mire in their chosen cesspool and quit making their problems the cause of horrible carnage.
3 shooters?
that is awful
did they catch them?
don't we all molly, the sad thing is they will always be people who cause carnage and heart break for others
I am almost done so here is a st5/4 with to4/4 of clues. A few years ago I was a witness to a bank he 5/12. The police asked if I could help ID the robber since I was the only witness to the theft. I told them I was too afraid to help. They said eit5/12 I help them or I get arrested for obstruction of justice. I was ot6/18 w/my pleas of fear. So I identified him.I was able to identify him because of his ha 4/5. He also had ha 5/16 arms, which helped me identify him. When I identified him, he gave me this ee 4/6 look like he could see me through the 1 way mirror It was the ee7/28 feeling I ever felt. I had also recently become a he7/32.I was afraid he would find me & take my money. Even though I am an at7/32,I prayed to God that he did not know it was me identifying him. I was so scared of being found out by him,I hi4/5d a body guard for awhile.Since I was the only person who could ID him the police told me I was he 4/5 since he never would've been caught if it weren't for me.Hubby is being a sn4/4 and wants to to4/4 me off the computer. Ei 6/21 I give it to him or he will th 5/20 a temper tantrum and cause a ri4/4 and we get into a he 4/5ed argument. I hope th 4/5 helped you find more words. I'm going to ri 4/4 out of this se4/4 and go watch a film no4/4 on IFC.I will be back in th 5/12 hours to enter my last word and to clue before I reti4/4 for the night.Goodbye for now Babblers
Yes L, but the older I get, the less tolerant I am of that. There are other ways to deal with your "internal storm".
Hi MIn, thanks :)
Hello smores and you are welcome!
i quite agree molly.there is help out there for people with issues but if they don't ask or even if they have had help, it will never make a difference as some are beyond help and then you have the terrorists which are never going to stop.the one thing that really gets to me is when someone takes their own childrens lives because they can't cope with life.that really annoys me.fair enough, take your own life if that is what you want but let the children have theirs
What Lilliann & Molly said. I've witnessed too many atrocities here. Nobody wins- whatever the cause. Once a person loses their life, or their limbs, or their suffers in any way, it's too too much.
ty min, am working through it now
Appalling grammar in last post, but you get my drift....
L, those that choose to take their children out because of their own darkness are the sickest of all. That is justifying their lack of joy and robbing it from innocents.
believe me soodle my typing sucks half the time so i'm not bothered about your grammar :)
I lost many friends in the conflict in the North of Ireland. From both sides. They are all dead. It matters not a whit now what side they were on. They are all in their graves now.
Shit. I'm getting emotional now. I better head off. Good night all
That is sad, Soodle. Even sadder to lose people you care about in a conflict on your own home turf.
{soodle} agree, noboby wins
it is very sad that our beliefs and religion kill so many(and i mean all religions)
The only way to win is not to play.
*Puts some tissue by Soodle's bed and breaks her "no TV in the bedroom rule by popping in a nice, happy love story for her to watch while falling asleep*
ok back. eggs all boiled.
hugs to soodle.tc hin
Bless you, Molly!! (Can barely type through the tears).
What are you making Cos? I deviled some eggs today for my deviled egg loving son who orchestrated Take Mom Out To Lunch.
hmmm.. was gonna make egg salad but now... maybe 1/2 for egg salad and 1/2 for deviled eggs
So sorry Soodle..
I imagine at this very moment he is propped up in front of the TV, watching golf, with a plate of deviled eggs and a beer. : D
lol sounds pleasant minus the golfing...
The golf thing is NOT my fault, it's his father's. : D
Off to watch Moll's Love Story. Good night my dear Babble friends. Thank you.
lol i dont understand the point of watching someone swing a stick
but to each their own!
<---Would rather watch paint dry than watch golf
I've been sent to my room while my girls staighten up the house and cook dinner :)
How about watching the paint on golf balls dry?
aww.... yay smores :)
G'night Soodle {hugs}
Yes, we must always say "to each their own" here. : D
you think texting my mom s enough? or do i need to call her too tonight? :)
goodnight hin
That would sure putt me in a bad mood!
Are you kidding? Call her.
lol yea im kidding.. ill call
CALL YOUR MOM!!!
:D
teehee...gremlinn
i did call her last night
Oh man, I have not called my Mom...
now off to do so...
ah.. brb gonna call now.
*Puts away note that says: Lecture Cos*
lol
hi all!
Hi Sue :)
hi smores!

Hi lilliann!

Hey Jilly :)
Awe, thanks miss molly...have my oldest sitting next to me babble assisting...
mmm... smells good...surf and turf, roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts, was just informed about 5mins.
Good Afternoon, All. Happy Mothers Day to everyone (without Mothers none of us would be here! :-)
Don't blush Sue, you are a good Mom. You have been through thick and thin with your boy. It's obvious you love him a lot.
hi nef!
Hiya Nef :)
Good Lord, your teenage kids can cook surf and turf?
How are you all on this fine day?
LOL...managed to go over my day's allotment of calories at brunch...*igh*
*sigh*
went out to lunch earlier with Frank and the boy, had a good time - the boy got me a Mothers Day card, too, which was very nice :-)
Happy Mother's Day Nef. You are another stellar Mom. I hope you were treated well today.
Yep,my oldest at least, taught her well :)
you lucky mam smores
hi nef
Lucky indeed. Surf and turf has not been in my food budget for years. Let alone teaching my kids how to make it.
We went out for a wonderful brunch (thanks to DH); the everyone but DH and I were late because of the road construction and traffic delays. But we did have nice day! :-)
Good Nef. You deserved it.
glad you had a nice day nef
I hope everyone else had a good day too?
and jill, you should just put your feet up and let your eldest have the stress of babble for a day :)
LOL...lilliann, like him leaning up next to me and pointing out words...plus, my feet are up!
ok, I am wandering off for a bit, Happy Mothers Day to all! See you all later!
Do we forget about "calorie allotment" ever? Especially on Mother's Day?
So glad to hear that Nef...how did the "stress test" go for DH yesterday?
calories??? What evil do you speak of, Molly?
yes, i hope you're not drinking lemon water today jill
Well, I am going to forget about my calorie alottment...but my hubby went through line 6 times, ate twice as much...
everything has zero calories on Mothers Day :)
Also enjoyed at nice mismosa at brunch!
Hello all. Just getting started on Babble. I've had such a nice day of putting together a lunch for my sons and my husband. We had three puppies in the house and they all get along so well, too.
Jilly, physically he did well; but he's forgetful today. We went to 9AM Mass because the have a blessing of the sick afterwards; he reminded me about it before church but he went out to the car afterwards and forgot about it.
Aw Gran Mere. Sounds like a nice Mother's Day for you. Glad to hear it, you deserved a nice meal with the people you love.
hi(( gmere)).aren't they suppose to cook for you today?happy mothers day!
done
and Molly...the surf part is jumbo shrimp I found on sale...lobster not in my budget ei6
(He did get to it just minutes after it started though)
Thank you Molly. I am thinking of you today also. My sons cook for themselves everyday or eat out so coming home for a meal is a treat all around.
WTG cos
And happy to hear that your sons came to celebrate Mother's Day with you.
no wait i meant done with the call :P
ooo..I'm being summoned...BBL
Oh dear Nef, sounds a lot like my hubby...
YAY, cosdem!!! WTG!!!
Sounds like a wonderful Mother's Day gmere!
duh, sorry stid, i put gmere...my head is in the clouds :)
I like to cook for my boys too, Gran Mere. They like home cooking too and don't get much of it other than here.
the short term memory is shorter than a gnat some days. But at least he remembered HE took us all out to brunch!
oh god...it is gmere....told you my head is in the clouds.glad you had a lovely day anyway gmere :)
Yes, jilly it has been lovely and I needed thyme for our pizza but checking our yard, somehow the thyme did not survive the winter. BUT, my present was a pot of assorted herbs (growing) and we used the fresh thyme from that!
L...L...Earth to L...that is Gran Mere.
LOL...and nef, he paid the bill!
Oh, nice gift Gran Mere. And one that will keep on giving.
We all look alike, lilliann. Mama and I often come out with the same word, or phrase at the same time. To talk to one is to talk to the other.
I'm glad you had a nice day, stidgmere. It sounds like you enjoyed it!
what a lovely gift gmere.i like my homeg grown herbs too
the second time i just saw stid and thought it was stidmere, i apologise for my doziness gmere :)
I like the connection with Mother Earth, Lilliann but I'm not much of a gardener (unlike Stidmama who is a great gardener.)
Ah, I love the connection with Mother Earth, Gran Mere. We are two peas in a pod. : )
well herbs are easy to grow.just shove them in a pot and water them and hey ho they grow, that's why i like them.luckily enough, mine seem to have made it through the bad winter
I tried to set up my herb garden today but need to do some sort of jury-rigging to get the planter on the new railing on the back steps now. The old railings were too wobbly and last fall we had some work done including a new railing; the new railing is incompatible with the planter fixture now.
can you not just have a big planter on your step so it saves putting one on your railings.if it's a large one you won't have to lean down so much
It's for DH Lilli. He loves to cook, and having it at waist high height is easiest on his back.
And our back step is basically a 3 X4 foot landing; not quite big enough to put extra stuff on it
oh i see nef, yes that's understandable.is there not someone that can sort it out for you?
I do have a plan, now. Just have to go out and find the right piece of wood in the garage....
We need to find a raised bed builder for a bunch of people here.
ahh, well i hope your plan works nef :)
we certainly do molly
<---Needs someone handy around the house like Nef
well, i've had enough of turning films over tonight because of language and serious violence so i'm going to be sad and watch working girl
I have some heavy 1 foot by 5 feet timbers that I've nailed together and put up on dble-stacked 5 gallon buckets last summer for him with long planters on them. He was happy as a clam to garden that way (and the rabbits didn't eat all the veggies ei 6/21.
Nef, I refuse to believe that you ever sleep, or relax. : D
Ah, Molly, the Aunt who raised me had the mind-set that if a man could do something; so could a woman. I've dabbled in lots of DIY projects and about the only ones I won't attempt anymore are plumbing-related.
good for you nef
(I *really* suck at plumbing!)
I believe that too Nef. I'd still like to find a man to do most of it for me though. So far, no luck.
well, you can't be good at everything nef :)
Of course, I use a lot of electric tools these days and I still can't open a jar of pickles! :-D
i have man, but he's never here to do anything and when he is, it's not for long or he's having a well earned rest getting over all the hard work he's done
lol, i can't either nef, which is why i have things to help me open them..the bairn is one of those things :)
DH is my jar opener too, lilli! :-)
:)
Well, #1 son has lost interest in babbling and is stretched out asleep (altitude change sea level to 3500 feet will do that) Am halfway and nbt/nbs....bbl Happy Mother's day again to you all!
how old is your daughter, lilli?
13 going on 30 :)
Jilly, my son used to get altitude sickness going from here to MSLA when he was young!
bye jill. enjoy the rest of your day.tc
She will be around a few more years then, lilli
bye Jilly!
mmm, thanks for the reminder nef!(just joking) aye, she can be a pain like all 13 year olds but i wouldn't be without her and we've had a lovely day today and didn't argue once, which is very rare for us...so i'm thinking tomorrow may well be different!
LOL! I remember those days well. I got so tired of my dtr's attitude and the girl she was hanging with (very BAD influence!) that I told her to pack some clothes and get in the car and we were going to run away. Best thing I ever did with her. We've had "girls' runaways" every so often since then. (She's 30 now)
I drove up the North Shore of Lake Superior and we talked and had no plan to go or see anything. Being cooped up in a car for hours driving loosens the tongue.
sounds cool nef, but if we had runaways we'd want to kill eachother and still argue. i was thinking of maybe going away for a week in the school holidays on our own but the fun wouldn't last, we'd want to leave eachother behind on the first day.we are just so much alike and neither of us will back down...it's gun at dawn with us.but saying that, she does come to me with any problems so i'm glad that she can feel she can do that as i couldn't with my mam until i was 25 and now my mam and i are the best of friends
I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but when I get a chance to visit with my kids, playing Babble with them is not on my hit parade. : D
my daughter would just sulk and ignore me if cooped up in the car unless she can have control of the radio and can play on her ds or my ipad which she broke yesterday :)
I totally agree, Molly.
you go to the shops which are 10 minutes away and she's bored and wants to take books and allsorts with her and her dad and me tell her it's 10 minutes in the car not 5 hours, so she plays on her phone instead.kids today....we never had any of what they had and were quite happy playing i spy and waving at other drivers and counting how many waved back when we went on long journeys and singing songs with our parents.i enjoyed our long trips
lilli, my str. did sulk and ignore me and play her CD's (with headphones) until there was an accident right in front of us. I flipped into my "nurse" role (and out her opinion of me being a PIA) and assisted in rescuing a girl trapped under the car; gave first aid, etc. before the ambulance got there. But the thing is that you really can only go a few hours withoiout talking on a road trip like that.
I worry about kids these days. (Sounds so old, I know) They are always "bored" and need constant electronic stimulus.
I enjoyed long trips too, lilli. I'm pretty shocked at all the stuff kids have to "entertain" themselves in the car these days. They never look at their surroundings. I refuse to let our grandson have electronics in the car for that reason alone.
that was good that she could see you in your nurse mode and realize what a tough but worthy job you have and it was very llucky that you were there at that time.was the girl ok in the end?
(My son gave him a cheap tablet to play angry birds in the car; plus he has a Leap Frog electronic learning tablet too. I told my son not to use them as pacifiers in the car.
Good morning / good evening Lili, Nef and Molly (and others) :)
She ended up with a couple of 2nd and 3rd degree burns on her legs. But the guy in the car wasn't harmed; he was wearing his seat belt (she was the driver and was ejected; luckily, it had been raining for some time and she landed in mud in a dip on a hill under tha care
Hi Lizlin.
Lucky you were there, Nef
i know, i get sick of 'are we there yet?' after 20 minutes, but we play games as in name that car and that sort of thing which she loves and wave at coach drivers and passengers and see who waves back and we do quizzes but there are times when we let her have some time on her phone or my ipad, sometimes we take portable cd player so she can watch a film but then that gives me and hubby either a little bit of peace and quiet as the bairn talks all the time or so it gives us time to talk to eachother
hi liz :)
And I shook like a leaf afterwards because of the stress and adrenalin!
Kids miss the sound, smell and sight of the world around them. They are too wrapped up in ear bud music and texting and other things that are flat and don't bring much joy.
she was very lucky then nef and luckier that you were on the scene at the time and that you and your daughter weren't involved in the accident
All for now. I'm going to warm up left overs. Except the cake, best eaten at room temperature. Thank you for your good company this afternoon.
Sadly Molly - I know adults like that too!
Hi and bye stidg :)
Enjoy the rest of your evening Gran Mere. Good Mother blessings to you.
Lilli, that reminded me of a trip with my dtr and my Uncle (who had lung cancer and died a few months later) My str. was 5 at the time; and she talked non-stop until my Uncle quietly said: "If you don't shut up I'll put you in the Trunk." She was quiet for almost an hour after that! :-)
Yes Liz, there are plenty of adults like that too.
i bet you did nef, it's quite understandable as the adrenalin wears off
bye stidg! Enjoy the rest of the day!
lol nef
And some adults need to take responsibility for taking their kids out and showing them what's out there.
There are people whose only "outside time" is walking to and from their cars. : S
Actually talking to the kids
bye gmere, enjoy your cake and the rest of the day.tc.hugs
Talking to their kids? Taking them out and sharing nature with them? That would be nice, but it seems like many parents are too self absorbed to bother.
That is sad, isn't it Molly? I think that's something our grandson loves about coming here: he gets to go out and play in the yard and do "exploring" on his own. (The yard is fenced in and the dog is stuck to him like glue; the dog never leaves his side when Ronnie is here)
i try and go out with the bairn as much as i can, but even if i can't and i'm in bed, she'll lie next to me and read me her books which is good for her reading and she doesn't watch loads of tv or play on her wii very much.she does like to go on the computor and play games and alot of them are maths games which is probably why she is better at it than me....saying that, everyone is better than me at maths!
One thing I try to do every day is ask our grandson "how was your day? What's the best part of today? What's the worst thing that happened today? I think actually thinking about how the day was and talking about it is so important to kids (I did that with my kids too)
Nef, there is no way to count the number of ways your grandson is lucky to have you in his life. You are a golden Gram.
i bet he has a great time exploring nef :)
i do that with my daughter aswell nef, sometimes i get 'it was alright' depending on her mood when she comes in from school but then later on she'll tell me
Hello again :)
<blush> thanks, Molly. I try to help him develop (what I call) "normally".
my daughter has always liked the outdoors nef and she still makes jumps out of my pots and jumps over them like a horse and loves to go out on her bike.kids don't get enough fresh air anymore.we use to be out all the time when we were younger.
Hi smores.
wb smores :)
dinner was fabulous...too full for dessert though
Nef, I love to hear your stories about you and your grandson. That little boy has a lot of hard things to deal with in his life. I'm glad he has you as a "safe place" to go to.
glad you liked it smores:)
i ditto what molly said nef
Hi smores :)
Agree Nef, very lucky to have you for a nana :)
Hi Liz
today we went to a play ground and played on the swings and slides and the climbing wall; then we went down to the little lake and threw some stones into the water and watched the ripples and listened to the different sounds the rocks made as they hit the water. We also "worked in the garden" (he dug with his shovel and threw the dirt out; I ended up pushing it all back in.; we cut off the brambles for the raspberry bushes and I taught him about which sticks have thorns on them, etc.
Sounds like a lovely day :)
Actually, the truth is I love to see the world through the eyes of a child.
he is lucky to have you in his life, Nef.
hello all
wonderful day Nef :)
Hi peri :)
Oh wow Nef. That is my dream day with a grandchild yet to come (continues hoping)
sounds like a brilliant day nef:)
It was a wonderful day!
hi peri
ah yes, I remember..what a wonderful age when every thing was new to them :)
How old are your kids, Molly?
me too smores.i remember whent he bairn use to help me in the garden and would hold snails, worms any insect we found in her hands now she won't even do it with gloves on
he has a "Bug Locker" which is a clear container with a magnifying glass attached. We saw a lot of worms, boxelder bugs, some angry ants and a few other bugs
help with 2nd he7 pls
We used to take the kids at school pond dipping - those magnifying containers are wonderful.
I need to get something like that for my great nephew who is about a mont older than your grandson, Nef. where did you get it
aye, she had a box aswell with air holes and kept all sorts in it:0
Second he7...usually comes after "in"...a person who gets money from a will
ty Molls
i never heard of the magnifying containers
Believe it or not, peri; it was in the dollar section of toys at the Super Target store.
I will look in Target, thanks
lilli - google magnifying containers - it comes up with lots of stuff
well, if i'm ever a granny then one of them will come in handy :)
peri, do you get to see your great nephew often? I think how lucky my kids were to have DH's Aunts in their lives for so long.
what do you do with a magnifying container?
Look at bugs and pond life
yes, very often
look at bugs, ruru. What else would you do with them?
I have found websites for children and he loves to play games on tham
beats me..never heard of them
them, even
Wonderful, peri! You are very lucky and so is he!
I take him for walks and we collect stones
and I take him to the playground which is very near here
Never mind Ru. He was too busy frying bugs with a magnifying glass as a child. : P
Let's see: you could study food in one; mess up your eyesight; .... ;-)
We have 4 playgrounds near us anywhere from 1/2 block away to 3 blocks away. Today's adventure was at the one that's 3 blocks away.
back with dessert :)
What's for dessert?
gonna watch Once...be in and out
Oh, Molly! Did you ever try to start a fire with a magnifying glass as a child? (I think I'll wiat on teaching him that one!
just lookjed at the magnifying containers, some are pretty cool and i loved the one that has the cord so you can hang it around your neck or over your shoulder whilst carrying your bugs :)
err, I meant wait, not wiat
hi all, bottom row done
his has a cord to hang around his neck, lilli. It is quite handy.
your great nephew is very lucky to have you too peri
hi gwen :)
Fireworks :)
thanks, lil and Nef
Hi Gwen :)
wtg liz! :)
hi you cheeky gnome! and
YAY, Lizlin!!!! WTG!!!
I agree L, it sounds like Peri and Great Nephew have a good time together. : )
wtg lizlin !!!!!!! @ . @ !!!!!!!
tyvm
I also agree Peri - sounds wonderful for both of you
he likes to watch me cook too
Is he old enough to help cook?
I think if I had a magnifier as a kid.. I'd have magnified something else :D
which is good as he'll learn from that and hopefully want to start cooking when he's older
lol ru
Ah, teaching kids to cook. Another art form that seems lost in the microwave/fast food world we live in.
he just watches at this point. we have him help me soon.
he knows I eat a lot of salads
about the only cooking my grandson "helps" me with is banana bread and peanut butter balls in sesame seeds (a kids snack treat)
he can set the table very well
I remember rolling pastry from a very early age - and of course eating the uncooked dough from pastry and cakes!
at this age they like to help
It doesn't matter. It's kids actually seeing adults cook. Hardly happens anymore.
i use to make playdo but not what you get in shops, out of flour and food coluring, it was cheaper than buying plastercene and we had so much fun with it
I cooked at a very young age
Too many precooked meals available today :(
you want your kids to be self sufficient? (learn to cook and handy things like that) then send e'm to camp, or take 'em camping
More concerned about the rubbish that's in them!
indeed,Liz
<--- Very averse to sending kids to overnight camp
why Molls
fw
YAY, peri!!! WTG!!!
:)
Congratulations periwinkle on your fireworks!Good for you
Congrats Peri :)
wtg peri !!!!!! @ o @ !!!!!!
Hi MIn :)
i must admit my daughter loves to cook and experiment. she's really good at cakes.but i will say molly, she has a food thing(i can't think of the name) that goes into her ds and it has recipes from all over the world and she likes to cook alot of them, which is where the german soup, kartoffelsuppe which is in my profile comes from
wtg LIg :)
so sometimes, children to learn something from electriacal gadgets :)
ty smores
yay!wtg peri :)
??? .... Liz even :)
I've learned that if you let the kids help; they learn how to do things. And if you let them know that their help is needed and you depend on it; that helps too (learned that a bit later with my own kids; but definitely am doing better this time with the grandson)
or licking the cake bowl out liz :0
bye for now
bye, peri! HAGD!
bye peri, tc
Bye Peri - enjoy your evening.
Lots of bad things happen at overnight camps. And, most kids are too young to be away from their parents that long when they get "sent".
Time for me to go too - rain's stopped, so it seems like a good time to get out. Enjoy your evenings / sleep well :)
or you can take them camping yourself . . .
well it worked with my oldest..she made a most excellent meal including chocolate cake :)
i've also heard from grandparents nef that they have more patience too with their grand bairns, but saying that i always have more patience for other peoples ' children than my own
bye liz, tc hin
agree Molly...I let mine go with her GS troop but not other then that
good for her smores
Family camping is good fun. And "camp cooking" is fun too. But not practical when it comes to cooking everyday food.
Bye Liz...enjoy your day :)
we used to camp frequently with our kids. It was lots of fun. Our son now "camps out" with the grandson by putting up a tent in the living room at their apartment and they sleep there( his wife thinks Ronnie is too young to go camping for real even though I have shown her pictures of us camping when our kids were babies)
i want to camp so often i don't know how many times, always with either girl scots or church group, starting from age 7, up to age 18, learned more at camp then anywhere else including school
He's 4, right Nef? I think camping is better for older kids than that.
that sounds cool nef.i bet your grandson enjoys it whether he's outside or not:)
camping with the family is a lot of fun (and work!) with babies and toddlers and young kids Molly. It's very important to set limits; but it really is great.
my hubby used to put our tent out in the garden and sleep in it with the bairn and he took her camping a couple of times, plus she use to go and stop with her grandad in his touring caravan but it was stationary on one particular campsite all the time and she loved it.they were surrounded by the moors and a river where they'd take my f.i.l dog who's not with us anymore for long walks and he loved chasing stones in teh river
I would agree about a big family camp outing Nef. But not with just a Father/Son camp outing with a kid who is 4.
yeah, when i went camping with scouts at age 7 i might have been a bit young, but i can't say all 7yo would have problems
We always used a tent and sleeping bags, the coleman stove and campfire and flashlights too. The fresh air and outdoors always made them fall asleep earlier and easier than at home
When my girls were 3 and 5 I test camped in my back yard...they loved it so we went for the real thing a few weeks later :)
my mam and dad use to take us to france every year , and mostly it was camping which was great if was hot but not when the weather was crap and we'd flood and then have armies of ants in the tents but we grew up doing that and wore rain coats most of the time but they are fond memories
lot of work...but worth it
well, with a name like smores, i hope so! lol
LOL
I think camping with parents, at the right age, is a great experience for kids.
i don't really care for marshmallows, so i take out the marshmallow and put in peanut butter. MMMMM
my oldest will be 16 in July, I asked what she wanted to do for her birthday...camping :)
LOL! Lilli, at one particular point in our camping days; we used to joke that our tent was causing the rain: put up the tent and the skys would open up and we had that river running through the tent (or so it seemed at the time!)
Wonderful, smores!
nef are you near Montana?
you're in Minnesota aren't you?
no, not the bottomless tent! lol
i felt like that too nef :)
ruru, we live in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. I have most of my siblings in MT.
lovely smores.where are you going to go?
ah.
I am astounded. A girl who is going to turn sixteen wants to go camping with Mom for her birthday? : O
*bets nef is a packer fan*
Every 2 years we'd go out and see family there; my father and step mother never came to see us.
yep...I was pleasently surprised too :)
i must admit molly, i'm surprised but think it's great
Ruru! FOr Shame!
:D
smores, are you going to go somewhere special?
I have a nice 3day weekend planned in Southern Indiana...there is a Feline Rescue Center nearby I am going to take her to as she loves tigers
can i have a clue for he8 please
that sounds great smores. i hope you all have a brilliant time
The he 8/55 word is the opposite of an hi 7/40 word lillian
that does sound like a good time. smokes.
holy cow, i'm impressed that he8 is in there. (i'm a big fan of hi7 and i still remember the first time i heard a feminist use the word he8)
BRB
i know the hi7 but i can't find the 8
Start the hi7 with a female word L
have you heard the feminist version of the hi7? it's a fairly new word
no gwen
(or, might be an old word, but not much in use until the 1970s-80s or so)
Not him but h**
okay, take the first two letters off the from of hi7, and put in a female posessive pronoun
finally.got it :
ty
fw's!!
off the front (OY)
wto lilliann !!!!!!! @ ^ @ !!!!!!!

Well done lilli :)

ok. tc then smores and bye all
you too lilli :)
back.
YAY, Lillian!!! WTG!!!
(darn dog was barking up a storm outside; both he and the little toy dog behind us think that they will eat each other up if the chain link fence ever falls down.)
Unfortunately, I hear barking competitions like that a lot this time of year. Not a pleasant sound.
no. ANd I really hate when he does that.
BBL
bye for now, smores.
I need to go eat something too; BBS
I don't hear as many dogs barking as I did when I was in a more suburban area. I hear chickens going nuts more than dogs ..
wow, tor; where do you live? In the country?
It's sort of countrified .. Mainly just less densely packed ..
ok. We live in a sort of 1st ti4/4, 2nd ti4/4 suburb; our 'burb only about 60 years old and is so much quieter than living in the cities. Our dog and the back neighbor's dog are the only 2 barkers around.
dang. I don't have NBS, nor NBT, and I'm still far from half done; but I need to list already.
Any stats and/or clues on the 9 would be greatly appreciated. Please and thank you.
didn't have NBT or NBS until almost done - went to list early - went to list early
thanks, wv. I was starting to feel really stupid...
th 9/60 = combo - 8,8,9,8,6
it's the vowels and the J and the 9 that did me in
wow. thanks
yep. Same here
phew! Just found that th 8's and 9! And my computer froze on it too.
Any clues for the oo 5/10 please?
I thought I would never get the th9
Rhymes with ee 5
thanks, lbd
I agree, Luwand
More Words doesn't list it. I thought that I'd tried it too; but must have mis-spelled the ooh.
oo5/10 I meant
if there is no dictionary explanation.. why is it in enable?
Hi again...back to try and finish this thing
