second row, second column N eludes me for nbt. Am I missing anything obvious?
I only have ni 5/12 so far
na5,6, if that helps
no 4 and pl no 5... Christmas word
na 5,6 is not from that N -- it's what Dee said.
melon -- it's the pearly stuff in shells...

ni 5/12 from 2nd col N

wtg mcl and gn
erda, the pearly stuff was the other N. I may have stated it confusingly—not the second N in the row, a better way to put it would be the leftmost N. "N"yway, jilli gave me the clue I need, tho I often forget that said word is not a proper noun.
oh, tx, jilli
wait the xmas no4 word isn;t working for me I got not in dictionary.
dee gave that no4 clue first ;-)
or I can't tupe. I'm fine. Nevermind me.
try again... worked for me :)

are all the Q words familiar? I have fivesomes and stuff you make into jelly, a remark, and a pound so far.
Lots of biggies this grid, my word average is 5.02 so far.
qu 8
is the qu8 familiar?
chop the end off the jelly fruit
my q's are mostly recognizable :)
mostly...
had to use morewords to find the qu 8/55 1st one (there are 2 qu 8's)
I have the fruit and its plural, and a Dion, can't for the life of me figure out the three words that would fit in between per Lickety.
I tried quintacle, but apparently I made that one up!
qu 8/55 same 1st 4 letters + abbrev for that is; + abbrev for Louisiana
sounds like a good word to me
po 9
Ah, the horse betting word with an L replacing an E. The other 8 is mathematical. My phantom was quintile, which came close. TX VMD!
I like quintacle, it ought to be a word!

REALLY BEAUTIFUL, mel. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you for looking. I will probably donate these to the organization where my son gets services, which is named, as it happens, is the Magnolia Clubhouse. They have a resale shop and art gallery. It would be fitting.
Would be lovely!
At 93 words so far, I think I'll try for beddy-bye again when I hit 100.
good luck :)
sleep or words? (;
whichever you choose LOL
I just hope sleep chooses me.
it has eluded me lately...
we're close in age, I think it's a stage we're going through.
definitely could be... age, hormones, then toss in fibromyalgia and RA for me...
My problem, is I love the quiet of nighttime. otoh, school is out, otooh, I'd like to start my days earlier this summer. Oh, well...
I, too, love the quiet...I totally understand.
Oh, I'm a fibro gal, too. OA and some neuropathic pain, too.
We definitely are sharing similar phases, then.
One summer I slept in two 4-hour shifts. I realized I loved the late night and the morning, hated midday, and slept 2-6 am and 2-6 pm. It was weirdly wonderful.
Sometimes I don't want to believe I have fibro. I have good and bad days, good and bad wekks, good and bad months.
Oddly enough, I can appreciate that!
Was to have a total hip replacement, happily got better enough to cancel, or at least postpone.
Exactly, Mel.
Would be wonderful to avoid the surgery. A friend of ours had one last summer, and he did fantastically well.
I bet you can appreciate. Good to know somebody understands!
Very nice to commiserate with someone who "gets" it.
It would have been awful to do it this summer. My son was hospitalized recently, followed by outpatient treatment. Would not do to have two high-maintenance situations at once.
Definitely good you avoided one of those situations :)
My hip had bothered me for months and I do have bone spurs. Still, it improved with the warm weather, both pain and range of motion. I can throw my leg over my bike which I had not been able to do for the past year. Still, I have a feeling TR is in my future.
Ah, 100 words. Word 100 was trigonometrical. Nice chatting with you. I'm going to hit the hay and hope it hits back! XXXOO
You just never know... hubby was supposed to have knee replaced a year ago... and a shot he has has handled the pain for a whole year.
Sleep well!! (((mel))))

{{sprite}} you still here?
hiya ruby, just arrived from hanging up laundry outdoors
how are you?
Hi there, sprite and ruby.
the proverbial sh** hit the fan yesterday, but after a major meltdown, I'm OK today
hi peah
:( Is he getting worse?
or even peach
no, not him, thi time.....worse
ruby!
hiya peach :)
I'll try to telephone you later, afraid to put it in an e-mail
what happened?
{{bichon}}
How are you sprite?
can't say
ok sweetie! Will email you my telephone number.
There you are, bichon.
ty, cookie
hi bichon!
Here I am in Chipping Campden, ready to go to Hidecote, the fabulous gardens
I am pretty good. Had a tough two weeks and am very tired now, but that is not abnormal, right? Took today off, usually have a full day of therapy but decided to take it easy. Yay for me.
wow, bichon, that sounds wonderful! And if our weather is any indication, it should be gorgeous there
oh bichon, how lovely! Enjoy it for all of us.
and you, peach? How are you today?
Every single day of our trip has been perfect.
has you US weather evened out, peach?
it is cl5 you deserved a perfect holiday, bichon :)
have to run, dh is bak from the store
*woof*
Not too bad today.....don't have much energy....we have had rain for a day and night and more on the way.
ok ruby, see or hear you later
The Cotswolds look best in pleasant weather
*sends a couple of cans of energy to peach* Be nice to yourself, ok? Take it easy when you are low in energy.
ooh bichon.........hidcote is wonderful - allow plenty of time
Bichon, sounds like a wonderful trip.
hi Dipnall
hey sprite
A long time friend is driving up from Florida tomorrow and, hopefully the hurricane has blown up the east coast....she lives on the
Atlantic side and would be driving through it. She has about a ten hour drive. The weather has just been so weird. But we can just stay inside and gab about old times. LOL
I wish her a safe and smooth journey
Thanks, dear.
lol, a part of the netherlands is in the grid today: Ameland. It is one of our islands in the Wadden. Not valid, of course.
Kind of "cool" tho.
it is :)
Well, m' dears, I think I'd better try to get some sleep....still have 80 words left....but I like it better than those really small grids. Blessings.
I hope you sleep well, peach, and easily.
hello and cooee, everyone
coooeeee, roseeeee!
lolol, and how are you my friend?
not bad. Took the day off... not going to full day of therapy, just being at home doing some laundry.
and how are you today, rose?
nice....almost a pj day...
*smug* I AM dressed!
doing well, thanx. wore the splint all day, it is so much better with it. a hassle but the good outweighs the bad.
have to shop later, must pick up meds and get the groceries. But that is for later. First, babble and my babble friends!
*flips a spoonful of icecream at sprite*
wtg rose. That is what they are there for. You use it until you don't need it anymore. Especially at work!
GOOD MORNING --Rose and Sprite and all others too
*caught it*
hiya puglet :)
hey up puglet
yes, dear, but what with?
Gradyn off to his mother? Any practical solutions found for him?
the eye, rose, the eye... but wiping it off and eating it anyway...
as of now no
rofl, oh for goodness sake. i was aiming for the feet....
His father is going to get him over the week ends now due to the way she is
I don't blame ya, rose. My feet are small. The rest of me is big. Easy to miss.
oh good, puglet! That is much better, shorter periods without contact for Gradyn.
we dont think she will take him now due to her not working (which we hope)
wouldn't that be the best of all solutions! *keeping fingers crossed*
so how are you doing Rose and Sprite
i think i'm outside the loop here. can someone please explain?
yes it sure would!
I am good, puglet. Taking today off from therapy and enjoying a slow day at home to get back some energy.
pugs have gone back to wearing the splint when i am expected to walk around a lot. a hassle putting the brute on, but much more comfortanle with it on, provided the blessed thing doesn't keep going south. lol
My great nephew(hes like my grandchild) dosent want to go to his mother over the summer that the courts has demanded
puglet's grandson has to spend a month at his mother's, but his mother makes him totally miserable and he hates to go.
how old is gradyn?
His mother(my neice) is not a very good mother I hate to say--hes 7
hmmm, over here when a child reaches the age of 6, they are allowed to make up their own minds as to whether they want to see an estranged parent.
at one time we were very close and I dont know what happen to her. I took care of her during her time carring Gradyn and then took care of him so she could return to school(she was 16
much better, rose. This is heartrending.
pugs, does your sister support you in this?
well its 12 here
sorry grannyrose, but it is now 14 here in OZ
12 here as well
we have had the probs with my g/dtr for a few years now
really, diz? that's disgraceful. under that age the kids can be so easily hurt emotionally and psychologically.
but her father hasn't bothered for 5 yrs.
a mother who isolates a child and lets it sleep in bed with her and her lover should not be allowed to have the child at home.
Rose (sob) I had to pick what was best for Gradyn during a court battle over where Gradyn should love-I had to choose his father and now my sister or neice wont have anything to do with me.But Iam not sorry of what I had to do
(live not love) sorry
as our nearly 13 yr old tells one and all....my father doesn't care, but I have a g/dad who I claim to be my dad
you stood up for Gradyn, puglet. Someone had to. Never be sorry for that. But it must have hurt to do so.
awwww dizgrannie... she rocks
maybe because i had an intervention order out against my first husband. yeah, diz, my kids saw my dad as their re4 dad.
ty Sprite
pugs, i know it has been difficult for you, a rift in the family always is a bad thing. but keeping gradyn where he can go and mature at his own pace is always paramount.
Yes it does hurt for we were all close---I kind of understand my sister standing up for her daughter but that little boy suffered alot being with his mother and her lifestyle she chose
*grow*
Puglet...just be there for Gradyn....ferk all else. x0oxo
if his mother and grandmother don't put his wellbeing first, he is blessed to have you who does
thank you all so much for the support--Gradyn is doing so well in school and is now so much happier Iam not sorry for the choice I made on his behalf
*hugs puglet*
thank you and hugs back to you all too
xoxoxox, pugs. and some for gradyn too. xoxox
thank you Rose and back at you on the hugs too
Ive got 5 sisters--Iam the oldest and the grandmother to Gradyn is the youngest sister and because of what I did she is taking it out on all the other sisters too.
that just shows that deep down she knows she is to blame, puglet. Otherwise she wouldn't have to keep everyone away.
its been over 2 years now and it bothers me the gap that has been put on our famly and Im not sure if I should go to her and try to talk to her or just let it go
she and her daughter are no longer speaking because of her daughters life
it does not sound like she is ready to hear you, puglet... I may be wrong of course.
pugs, by all means make the attempt. or you will be forever saynig to yourself, what if, or i wish i had.
oh wait, talk to your sister? Yeah, that would be good.
at least if you try you know that you have done all you can.
Iam just not sure of what to say ---For Iam not sorry going to court for Gradyn
perhaps something like: I had to stand up for gradyn. It didn't mean I love you any less and I still love you and I miss you.
try saying something along the lines that you understand how torn she must feel over all the situation. then ask her what she would like to see happen, to make it possible for gradyn to be safe.
Yes Sprite that does sound good. And good advice from you too Rose
i think validating how your sister feels would be a good start. of course she may well throw it right back at you. in that case, just walk away.
I have sent her a card on her Birthdays the last 2 years but nothing back
validating her feelings will certainly help.
oh, pugs, my heart goes out to you. i have a similar situation with my eldest son. he decided nearly 6 years ago that i was a persona non grata. have heard from him in all that time.
she herself made a huge mistake and it was like a rock thrown into a pond(the ripples spread out onto her whole family)
*haven't* grrrr
ahhh Iam sorry Rose!
that must hurt so much :(
ah, well, what can you do? i have tried phoning, emailing, cards and letters to no avail. i still have 2 beautiful sons who do the right thing by me.
its amazing coming on here and seeing so many people with similiar probs. my ex doesnt have anything to do with our son becuz he is an addict.i personally would like to shoot him
Geez, guys/gals...I thought I was the only one who's dtr disowned them...my dtr has bi polar and blames me for her affliction
my ex, not my son lol
nothing you can do. Your son will have his reasons and in his head it will probably be ok. But his heart will miss you anyway.
aww diz....{{hugs}} hun
*hugs ivesy and dizgrannie*
ives, i knew what you meant. {{hugs}} for ives too
that is awful, dizgrannie. As far as I know, she must have been born with the predisposition for bipolar to get it.
HEY, GROUP HUG!!!! {{ HUG }}
{{{{{group}}}}}
guess we are all with pains due to families--hugs to each of you--this is a good place for healing--
you are right sprite. so unfair for the child to blame the parents for what is wrong with them...
jason tried a few times to talk to him, but the ex just threw out the old this is what you have to do and you should go to church... addicts dont listen to those things.. crap they dont listen to anything
well, sometimes it is correct, rose... I have ptsd and my parents certainly are to blame. My sister ended up with borderline. A very unsafe environment in our childhood does attribute to developing some disorders.
actually saw exes profile on line. states he has one son... the one he adopted... i never told jason that.
when I dont know what else to do for them or myself on these matters I just pray
ivesy, that is so sad :(
i kind of gave up on that puglet.. sorry to say. too many things have shaken my faith. am struggling with it now
praying is a miraculous activity for sure. I hold gradyn in my prayers as well, puglet, since you told us.
ahhh that is sad for you and him
it's hard ives. dealing with an addictive personality. i am one, and current hubby has supported me on my journey. no it wasn't drugs, but cigarettes, pain meds and alcohol. out the other side now, and truely grateful for his support. i love him so much, and not a day goes by when he affirms his love for me.
yayyy for you and your hubby, rose. A tough battle. And a victorious rose :)
you are so lucky Rose to have all that!
very hard granny. but glad to hear yu have won the battle to stay clean.and what a great hubby!
seems pugs is at a loss for words...lol
i will nver give up on jay .. i know he is in there somewhere.
sorry button stuck
aww... puglet, don't crash on the keyboard... we will hold you up ;)
good on you, ives.....
I hear you, ivesy. We don't love our children less when they are in trouble. More, perhaps. never less.
so embar.!
ain't that the truth, sprite.
oh don't worry! It happens at least once a day here, I am sure. To someone.
hey pugs, come out from under that chair....i can see-ee you.
have had family members tell me let him go..ha.. like thats gonna happen.. dont tell a addicts mother what to do becuz she doesnt listen either lol.. till u can walk in my shoes .......
I dont have any children(I lost a daughter earlier in life) but my sisters and their kids gives me enough headaches
exactly. As long as you protect yourself and your stuff from his addiction as much as you can, who could tell you what to do?
how terrible, puglet, to lose a child
rite sprite.. and belive me . he doesnt have a key to my home. i have learned the ins and outs.
so sorry to hear that puglet..cant imagine losing a child. ..
I had the feeling you had, ivesy. Sounds like you know exactly what you are doing, and you will never stop loving him. Don't let anyone ever tell you your heart is wrong :)
its been over thirty years(cant beleive the time has passed so fast) She died from crib death at 4 months old)
what a terrible blow
ty sprite... now i need coffee.. hate waking up with these headaches.. ... bbs
it was but time has healed and I can give myself to others in the family
*gentle hugs * for ives headache, and a cool soothing hand on her brow.
it is beautiful that you are there for them, puglet. They are blessed to have you.
I feel like Ive kept all us from the puzzle--I dont have one word yet--lol
pugs, hugs for you too. sometimes life hands us lemons when all we want is oranges. me too. only my babe was lost in utero. never even got to hold her.
that is so sad, rose :(
lol puglet, don't worry, you cannot keep us from the puzzle unless we let you.
ahhh Rose--hugs to you--Life is up and down for us all
this sight is so wonderful for support and love
pugs? would you mind doing something for me? my other on-line game will not load. it's called Weboggle. could you please try it for me?
the babble community is very special
if we never get to meet here on earth I will look for you all up there
absolutely, sprite. we are all one big family. not gonna say happy, 'cos some are at loggerheads with others, as families do.
if heaven is anything to strive for, it will group us together and make sure we have babble :)
sure Rose you want me to try now
luckily, most can keep their loggerheads out of the chog :D
lol, sprite.
if you don't mind, hun. would be ever so grateful.
ok am on the way Rose
hey sprite, on the other side of that heavenly wall, will be the non-babblers, right?
I would think so. But there is a gate... if they might decide to join us... ;)
no, the other side will be us lurkers, watching you guys
well we could chuck potato crisps over, it might pique their interest enough...lol
Rose I tried 3x's and it wont load for me either
hehehe, no way kalea, you lurkers belong to our community just as much
cooee, kalea
grins and winks
ah, thanx, pugs. that is good in one way. it means it's not my computer.
bbl. dinner ready. having take-away, bbq chicken, chips and salad. YUMMY!!!
sounds delish. Enjoy :)
enjoy your dinner Rose
had to refill coffee so now Im going to begin on this grid--lol
wb. It is a very nice grid.
good --- I just couldnt get into the one yesterday--dont know why I guess it was jst one of those days
babble blindness. Happens to all of us some day ;)
fireflies for me. Loved the grid and enjoyed the company. *hugs* for now!
oh was that what it was? Hugs back at ya and have a wonderful day Sprite and thanks for the chat
baaa-aack. spritey gone? :( hoping pugs still here.
yep Iam still here
how's it going hun? a few nasties in it....
Ive not been into it that long
am watching a DVD, 'quartet' with maggie smith, billie connolly et al
My hubby built me an arbor and I at last got grapes started
nice pugs, and mine finally put our garden arch in, now i can train the roses.
oooh that will be lovely--is it white?
there are two, which i hope to entwine at the peak. one is a salmon pink, the other a perfect pale lemon. both scented very delicately.
MY rosebush that I told you smelled so good-has three huge roses on it--I measured them so I could tell you how big they are (they measure over 3 inches in diam.)
you will have to post a picture when you get it done
will do pugs. 3 inches, that's impressive.
when I can I plan to get me a camera so I can put up pictures
It nevers has more then three or four on it at a time but they are so huge and ummm the smell!!

morning Teach
hello pug
hello nono
pugs, not allowed to have patient contact. i have to be able to react quickly in an emergency. you can have a educated guess at how many times that can happen in a shift. lol too many to even consider risking a patient's well-being.
ooohhhh, haz and teach. hello from down under, dear peeps
thats very understanding Rose--recovery will come when the body says so-lol
lol, pugs...
I need to sign off to do something productive--hate leaving such great company--everyone take care and hugs and have a great big wonderful day/evening
never mind, there is so much paperwork to achieve before accreditation in december. yes, i know how long that is away, but it takes a lot of time to organise. *sigh*

Hi Rose - and sympathies. You seemed to be doing so well. Have a gentle hug from here.
hey crossy, nice to see you, mate
Well - have a couple then.
aww thanx, sue
nice to see you as well, granny:)
grrr...my time is unfortunately up...will try to get back on this evening
Hope you get much better quickly, rose. My best friend's mother just had total hip replacement after spending a year dealing with the first surgery that the doctor botched terribly. Now looking for a lawyer. But at least the second surgery is coming along very well.
wish you all a wonderful day {hugs}
HAGD smores
remola
HAGD, smores....BIG hug.
have a good one, smores
thanx mimi. i was well on my way to full recovery. up to 9 hour shifts, and even if i say so myself, moving rather quickly on the old pins. a month ago i actually ran at work when we had an emergency. was so chuffed.
Are you going to need another surgery, rose?
mimi, am hoping not. but the way i fell did wrench my knee out to the side. now have discomfort when i rotate my foot inwards.
hello agsin, e erybody. 63 words this AM. Stealing time from hostessing......
{{hugs}} ruby, darling
all i can say is that it is a good thing that it is a hospital you work for and they have it all right there because i could see your recovery taking a bit and they are on the line for any out of pocket expenses.did you fill out a accident form at the time it happened for the govt compensation board?
halfway, NBT and NBS - time for breakfast and getting on with a busy day
{{rosie}} my dear
So sorry for that, rose. My friend's mother (who is 84) spent an entire year being told the pain and inability to walk on her left leg were normal and that she would be fine. Then when she finally went to another doctor he said he could feel the screws that had come out and couldn't believe she had been this way so long. Now, 2 weeks after the second surgery, she is so much better. Going to sue the first doctor.
hello ruby
I am so sorry that your knee troules continue
((ruby))
{{mimi}}
hello hello teach
{{crossy???}}
Bye, teach!
even though it is a clear compensation case,i can understand them wanting you at the desk if you are willing as skilled people in your position must be hard to replace with temp workers in a pinch
((ruby))
yes, crossy did all that. workcover are in right from the start. fortunately for me, a cl5 friend and co-worker witnessed it all. she even saw the woman mopping the plastic covering. and several of my colleagues/friends came when they heard my cries.
good.good all the i,s dotted and t,s crossed
my friend, the banshee
otherwise it can come back and bite you in the arse
management claimed that the plastic couldn't have been wet...little did they know. and when they tried to blame it on my footwear, my DH, who is an occupational health and safety officer was with me. boy, did he give them what for.
Glad you had so many witnesses who were willing to speak up.
yes mimi. management are just johnny-come-latelys. my colleagues and i have been there for over 10 years.
As if you would harm yourself on purpose!! Really.... Are you able to get around?
i can now mimi. i have a splint, from thigh to ankle. it is most helpful. did try last week without it. not a pretty picture.
always the way.they will always try to shift the blame to you as a matter of course unless you have witnesses
yeah, well, crossy. this time they failed to provide me with a safe work environment, and they have to admit it.
good.got them buy the short and curlies;)) i have seen to many places get away with abusing thier employees in cases just like this in the petroleum industry
by
back after a bit. Sending DIL on a hike with the handyman
The stupid doctor who did the first surgery on my friend's mother wouldn't even give her pain medication! She was in agony for over a year and finally went to the new doctor. We wanted her to see someone else a long time ago but she wouldn't because she believed the other doctor when he said she was doing fine. I had to remind her what they call the guy who finishes last in medical school....doctor. They're NOT all good.
always, always, always get second, third and fourth opinions
Yes, crossy, absolutely. I'm always amazed when someone will see, for example, a neurosurgeon for the first time and is told he wants to "cut into your brain" and that person just agrees to do it!! I'd need many more opinions for anything that serious.
we did that with the wifes eye disease.we were stagnating with a certain specialist and what we did was go back down the chain, had a few of the earlier doctors re-examine her then move her to another specialist
you know, crossy? this time i am so comfortable about this. i absolute faith in my return-to-work officer. she is si middle of the road. she does what is right by the company, and does what is right by the worker. she was the one who talked management into allowing me a graduated return after my total replacement.
it is a matter of trust, mimi.we trust our doctors as learnered people with all the answers but sometimes they do not have them.they are human just like the rest of us and we must be involved in our own care as well
The new dr. who finally did fix the hip said he couldn't believe she had been suffering so long. Now, 2 weeks after surgery, she's doing physical therapy and is up and about and not in pain....a year out of her life just wasted.....lawsuit!!
i am so glad you have a good worker, rose
Yes, so right, crossy. We must be proactive in our own care and not hesitate to make changes when needed.
mimi, that is so awful. how can surgeons get away with that? they are NOT gods, they are human, just like the rest of us. they DO make mistakes.
well,i have been through lawsuits.they knock the stuffing right out of you, even if you are in the right.depending on how deep the pockets are on the other side, they can drag it on for years, just to wait for you to run out of money or give up
The lawyers I'm interviewing for her work on contingency so they don't get paid unless they win. She couldn't afford it otherwise.
i had one that dragged on for the maximum limit for the type of case.5 years and i finally just settled because it was eating up my life
crossy, over here, we have no-win, no-payment law firms.
that is good if you can get the no win-no pay set up
The lawyer on my Social Security lawsuit also works that way. Am so hoping I'll get it settled either the end of this year or very beginning of next. He gets 25% but does all the work and this one does only Social Security cases and has been in business for over a decade with an excellent rating with the Better Business Bureau and no complaints against the firm....I do my homework!
things have changed no.i see you can get advances on your potential settlements in cut and dried cases now
25% one time fee or 25% out of each and every monthly cheque?
25% of the total and I get all the money at once.
ahh ok.got you
If I win, they must give me all the back money from last year...will be around $15,000. I'll use some of it, of course, but plan to put most in a high-interest account as my nest egg.
nice plan, mimi
i got a better one for you mimi...
put it in a registered disability savings plan
look into it
ask yuour banker
Wrote that down, crossy...thanks. Will look into it.
here they are good for up to 70k and the govt will match deposits
strange...i am thinking of looking into a disability pension...until i am eligible for the aged pension.
look into it,ladies
i have paperwork coming for that very thing for my beloved
it will care for her if anything happens to me.in our case ,she will double the deposit totals every year for 9 years
ladies???? who came in?? oh, mimi, of course.
then it will be reassed
Am wondering if it is available here. If not, could I invest it in a Canadian bank?
and the money paid into it can be withdrawn yearly
do not know, mimi.you banker will have all the info i am sure
so you just leave your principal in there and skim of the govt matching funds
we only learned of this just this year from out tax people
our
better than the best high interest savings acct
Sounds like a great plan, crossy. I get my first early retirement check next month but it isn't much until my ex reaches 62 (in a year and a half) at which time I'll get more. But still not enough to live comfortably. Your suggestion sounds like the perfect thing to do. Thanks, my friend.
better than savings bonds for that matter or mortgage certificates
no problem at all.when i get a inside track on something,i like to share with my babble friends;0
then setting up now would be perfect timing for you mimi
I'm very lucky that I have such low overhead. I have NO credit card debt, no car payments or expenses and only rent, utilities and food (and I get food assistance due to the heart attack). I can live on much less than many people since long ago I recognized the difference between "need" and "want."
it is best to phone your banks head office first.thats what i did and they are sending me the forms so i can have them ready when i go into my local branch
you are a smart woman,mimi
Does that type of account also keep you from paying high taxes on the money, crossy?
just google your bank online and get the head office toll free number
in case anyone is interested...google can-am spyder rss 2012, green version. you are looking at our next bike. nearly decide today, but DH would like to ride one first.
It has been a tough road these past couple of years with no income and relying on family and friends. But even so I feel lucky to have the things I do and very lucky to have such wonderful people in my life who care about me and are willing to help. To me, those relationships are what life is all about. I used to have a lot of money when I was married but I am truly happier now....attitude is everything.
sorry.internet hiccuped
do not know re;tax info in that mimi
but spending their money is always better than spending your own, taxes on it or not
I believe reality is subjective....you can choose to look at what you DO have or choose to look at what you DON'T have and there's just no point focusing on the negative. By focusing on all I do have I'm always in a grateful frame of mind and happier.
mimi, so happy that you are happy. sometimes when our lives are turned a over t, it is for the best. and it seems to me, that you are in the better of best, hun
now that our son is older,we also are living more simply and enjoying things more
we got off the hampster wheel
I am at peace with who I am and am a good friend to myself....that is very important. Day to day I only have me to care for myself so I must do a good job of it!
you may not believe it but crossy once was a certified type-a grinding ,3 espresso a day keeping up with the jones fella
but i had a attitude adjustment lol
Yes, crossy, it seems the more money you make, the more you spend and it seemingly never ends. In any case, I believe we are here to improve our spirits first and foremost. After all, that's all you're taking with you when you go! In my belief system, if you don't do the spirit work now, you'll just have to keep coming back until you do.
We are older and wiser, crossy, which is SO much better than just being older!
yes because as you know,we ARE a spirit,we HAVE a body
Very well put, crossy.
I have a cat meowing in my face to be fed....be right back.
NBT and NBS for crossy
My near-death experience 15 years ago taught me all about that, crossy..........
Yay!
cancer9all three of them) taught me every single thing i will ever need to know about life
nice one, crossy
like i have said be fore.cancer is a curse, but oddly enough it is a blessing.it narrows the focus of your life.you toss everything trivial or meaningless in your life over the side because you simply do not have the time or energy to deal with crap like that.it boils down to tearing the cancer out of your body and your loved ones.simple.then when all is done and you have gotten rid of the cancer that was holding you back, you look at the trivial shit that you used to sweat blood over and just shake your head and move on
Some people may not understand but things like that can be a gift insofar as they do provide insight and an attitude of gratitude.
my beloved and i are closer now than we ever were pre-cancer
{{crossy}}
It is sad to me that my ex now understands what I tried to tell him all those years and I believe would get back together....but that ship has sailed for me.
I'm happy for you and your wife, crossy. I will remain single the rest of my life....but I'm truly OK with that.
you are fine indeed, mimi.you head is squarely on your shoulders and no one here doubts the path you chose or the way you shape your path;)
can anyone clue the ar8 plz? Cannot for the life of me see it!
Must go get the mail while it's still only 84 degrees (at 5:30 in the morning). Back later in the day. Bye and hugs all around.

hello babble friends
Hello again, all. Just got back from getting the mail and am sitting in front of my big fan cooling off. Netflix movie "Django Unchained" was in the box so will be watching that today...adore Jamie Foxx. Also having chicken spaghetti for breakfast....yes, I know I'm weird!
mimi, that movie can be hard to watch at times, but wow, is it good!
Chicken...spaghetti? I didn't know you could put a chicken through a pasta maker.
*squish* *squish*
LOL, Judi!
g'day all
I'm sure I'll be crying a lot, Trif...I'm a very easy cry when it comes to movies....and songs....and even commercials...
296 words!!
((peri))
Speaking of good movies (as we often do). I watched "Behind the Candleabra" on HBO not too long ago. It was tremendous. I highly recommend it. Everyone in it is amazing.
is that the one about Liberace?
Looking forward to seeing Michael Douglas as Liberace...who would have thought to cast him?!
hmmm. not so much a crying movie, actually, mimi....very violent. I assume you are familiar with Tarantino's style?
was not planning on seeing it
Yes, Peri.
if I see that it is on I will take a peek at it
I agree, that movie does look good. I don't have HBO, but Valentine does....
Oh, yes, Trif...not a big fan. But oddly enough, I really liked the Kill Bill movies....don't know exactly why as I also am not crazy about Uma Thurman.
I only watched #1 of kill bill. too much violence in the 2nd one
I no longer have cable but will get it from Netflix when it's released.
I think the Liberace movie was made for theater release, based on the huge stars who are in it. However, I think it's just a little too 'gay" for mainstream audiences. No offense to anyone. Just saying I don't think Hollywood wanted to risk it.
It's almost like Tarantino is trying to be the next David Lynch....and ONE of those was certainly enough...or too much!
when primo was getting his eagle scout badge, he made a list of people for me to write to, hoping they would write back. Quentin Tarantino was on the list, and we received a LOVELY, very respectful reply from his assistant, saying Quentin was out of the country, but congratulations.....
interesting, Judi....I wonder.....
Well, I'm impressed, Trif....I just love when celebs are kind. I have renewed respect for him!
I was impressed to. And later, of course, we put together that the movie he was prepping was Django
Even though I'm sure he didn't personally send it, at least his assistant is instructed to do so.
There are just some people I automatically will watch in movies and Jamie Foxx is one of them. But I love when he plays music even more...wish I could have access to that talent as well.
exactly. most of the people I wrote to didn't respond at all
Going to go watch Hannibal. Back later to try some more. Hugs all around.
well they should Trif. if not for fans where would they be?
help with the n under the q pls
I don't hjave that yet, peri.

just an FYI - today is National Donut Day...
National Doughnut Day is on the first Friday of June each year, succeeding the Doughnut Day event created by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I in France
thanks kje .. i kinda glazed over that one

hello everyone, how's the grid today? BR... is that you? nice to see you :)
howdy,kate
if I have to eat a donut, I prefer the plain cake ones... others are too sweet
if i do eat a doughnut,it is usually a cruller
There must not be enough fat in dougnuts. Now they have come up with the "cronut". Part croissant, part doughnut.
i have seen those
cronuts
I don't like croissants that much
seens they have a very short shelf life however
Fried in lard meets layers of buttered pastry.
Even in France
there's a doughnut shop close by that makes the most amazing donuts. Not very many of them, we head out at like 8am on sundays to get some

<----- lives in canada, but has no clue as to what 100 kg is called....
oh, just found an or one
go carla go!
LOL, Kate. Was wondering how I was supposed to figure that out. Good to know you metric people don't know either.
Funny thing is, I actually got the qu8 that means that by guessing. I just didn't know that's what it meant.
well, i've heard of a metric ton.... but something beginning with a qu? usually has prefixes like centi, deca, etc...
Plus, I would think the qu prefix would mean 5, not 100.
A group of five + Mr. Gore
thanks for the hint erda nd carla. got 'em :)
i must pop out for a bit, back soon to try to finish this grid. long way to go yet!
the gerund ending is handy today
162 left here. Thinking about hitting the list early.
a hint for the re 10, pls
To make undirty again + gerund
I don't have anything over an 8 yet. :(
Funny, I kept trying to work out that re10 and couldn't. I should just try stuff anyway.
nm, got it, ty Molly
There should be some kind of a raspberry prize for words such as dr6,27..."A tropixcal bird" -- my foot!

Hello to who ever is here :-)
hi zooz :)
howdy again my friends.back for some more words.i hope
This grid seems very friendly so far!
it starts out warm and fuzzy, not sure how it ends though. a few have commented that it gets tough at the half-way mark.
ah ha! just found qu 7 and 8 the old tern of latin.base units of 100. odd thing is it still works in metric as well as for our american friends:))
term
crossy, you wandered away for a tea, and never came back... was going to send out the search party ;)
always thought the spelling was different though
Thanks for the warning, TK..i still need 32 more to find yet.
i do that, kate.just wander off.the mrs sews my name on my clothes for me
Tehee, Crossy.
zooz, you're too good at these ;)
I often go over to iron sudoku & back a few times just to refresh my eyes for finding more words.
rofl crossy :-D i do the sudokus when i have time, but i'm not a pro there, so the difficult and expert are very hard without the "extras"
and po9/66 which is also known as the po9 telephone after a night of partying too hard in my youth
I don't think so, TK..but many thanks anayway :-)
...and if i go from sudoku to babble and back, i must start all over again
i thought it was "driving the po9 bus" crossy?
never heard it referred to like that;)
regional saying i guess?
must be
every day in babble is a learning day:))
bbs, coffe required. wish they had tea here
I see, TK..i take it then you can not see the 'save as check point' at the botom of the number squares.
Cosby said it best..."You put your face in a place where your face was NEVER meant to be"
ahh yes,the old "i do not care about my shoes" moment
hello, back again
howdy,annie
Hello, Annie :-)
that's right zooz, and i can't use "greens" either, makes it tough
hi annie and molly :)
clue 4 the 9s and thje 10 please
The xbox 360 does not allow me to use the greens either, TK..most annoying.
dont have it, cool.
po9 china crockery?
sometimes, i put it on paper and soleve it from there - back and forth....

recleaning
Yikes!!!!
Thats the oje, Annie :-)
sorry!
oje=one
I was into the china crockery...don't know it

ty
Delicate clay
po9 ceramics
i find it much more difficult to work them on screeen rather than paper expensive china coolgirl

yw :)

I like yours more :-)
Kids, kids, it's not a competition. : D
Teehee
aw mom!
Crossy, are you here?
Hi, everyone!
i am here ,mimi
was in the kitchen rattling those pans;))
we need to send ruru to . . . Punderdome! http://getyourcoatwereleaving.tumblr.c\nom/
I am currently cooking bacon in the oven...oh, the smell...can't wait for my sammie!
Hello, Mimi.
It's not the fabulous bacon you get but it will do.
((zoo))
Une..Rafa did well today..not sure if you watched the tennis or not.
are you kidding? I was up at 6:00 watching!!!!
i just did my beloved a late meal of a couple of scrambled egg, bacon and grated cheddar breakfast wraps;))
Ahahahaha! Not sure if Une watched Rafa...ahahaha!!
Crossy, have you ever cooked bacon in the oven with brown sugar sprinkled on top? SOOOO good...but I don't have the brown sugar right now.
it was a real nailbiter :-)
molly LOL
Teehe..i thought of you when i was watching...one way to wake you up for the day.
i have, you can also do it like our new young roayl couple do and use honey instead of brown sugar and just a touch of fresh ground black pepper
royal
LOL, Molly!
I've been watching the matches on Tennis channel every day!
I do have honey but too much trouble now...it has already been in there awhile. Besides, I save the honey for my morning tea. Now I just have to decide how big I'm going to build the sammie!
Have not seen the ferer & tsonga match yet, as came onto babble..so do not know who is winning that one.
mmm
You would probably be aghast at the fact that I like the bacon almost burned.
just finished -- wanna know? :-)
i like it cooked but still bendable without breaking
Yes please.
Mad Ru...Beyond The Punderdome
there is no wrong way to enjoy bacon:))
Ferrer killed him
I'm weird that way....like burned potato chips and french fries, toast...want the bacon to break and be crispy. Hey, whatever we enjoy, right?!
By the way, that link Une posted has an extra \n in it. Tiny url people, tiny url.
Wow.i thought it was going to be a close run thing..but not..ahould be a good final then.
my wife adores very darkly cook potato chips
Even my cats are going a bit crazy from the aroma emanating from the kitchen! May have a fight on my hands trying to eat!
should*
surprising -- Tsonga seemed really sluggish
tell the cats that they are next if they do not stand back from the bacon
I often make my own chips and get them very dark. Didn't think anyone else liked 'em that way!
Whats your prediction for the final rafa wins by?
LOL....yeah....they'd know I'm all talk....can't even kill a bug that gets in. I catch it and put it outside!
I really like watching him play Ferrer -- they're well matched and are good buddies off court
BRB
my cats eat any bugs and spiders.all crunchy protein as far as they are concerned
My timer just went off for the 12 minutes the package recommends....not nearly done enough for me...will check in 5-minute increments until it is burned.
lol
cook her till she stops oinking, mimi!!
lol
used to have kitties that LOVED junde bugs.... disgusting listening to the on the lawn crunching their little hearts out
*june*
then of course they pict that time to come over for a kiss..
Yep---like my food totally beaten into submission!
ewwwwww ;)
Think I'll keep the sammie simple today...have fresh vine-ripe tomatoes, avocado, cheese and the bacon...that should do it. I never use lettuce---doesn't agree with my tummy.
there you go:)) need a dab of mayo
My one male seems to want to kiss me right after he licks the butt of one of the others.....ick.
ahh the ole sphincter smootch
All this bacon talk is making me want a full breakfast even though it is 7:28pm here..lol
Oh, yes, Miracle Whip and a bit of horseradish mustard on a King's Hawaiian sandwich roll.
Oh how gross, Mimi!..hahaha
any time is time for breakfast
mmmmm full english breafast would go down well right about now. it's getting toward the dinner hour here
common over kate i will even do the eggs english style for you with proper bubble and squeak
When I eat something substantial in the middle of the day (almost noon here) I generally don't have dinner...maybe a light snack.
I have never seen a cat lick another cats butt...not that i want to either..just saying.
ooooh! bubble and squeak!!!! yummers :)
i rarely eat a full dinner
mine did, but they were father and son...
Okay, I'm getting queasy with all the cat kissing and cat butt licking. Ew.
lol
I ADORE bubble and squeak, Kate! We have a place here that makes a really good one and it's just a couple of blocks away from me.
LOL, Molly.
we can focus on bubble and squeak instead
Crossy, do you drain the bacon a bit while cooking in the oven or just let it cook in the grease?
surprised you have bubble and squeak ihn your corner of the world mimi... do they also do bangers and mash?
i do it stove top more often than not and never drain it till it is done
If I cook bacon in the oven I put it on a wire rack.
Yep...it's an English style pub place and they have all that stuff. Yummy fish and chips.
mmmm.now i am hungry again
I don't have a rack, crossy...seems that husband got it in the divorce (don't even ask). Think I should drain it a bit? It's really swimming in it.
<----- going to visit mimi during the winter, just for some good pub grub :)
drain of 50% of it
off
I save glass containers to pour the grease in, chill in fridge and then throw away. My mother used to cook lots of things in bacon grease but I can't get behind that idea.
but carefull no burning yerself
clue for the se7/36 please - last s and driving me crazy
French river + gerund
french river action?
tx got it
if you fridge itlet it all settle a tbs of it when doing fried potatos is amazing, mimi
i us3e bacon grease for yorkshire pudding (popovers) if i don't have any lard
but of course no good for you at all
and for lining yorkie pans
hi everyone.. hot broccoli soup day here
hi aloy :)
and if you are roasting very lean wild game, you can brush a bit on the roast
Ooo, I haven't made broccoli soup in a while.
howdy,aloy
OK---just drained some. Good idea about using for potatoes, crossy. Yeah, I know it isn't "good" for us but my father ate fried eggs cooked in bacon grease and 6 strips of bacon every morning of his life for nearly 70 years....he was healthy but the smoking finally killed him. He started smoking again after having quit for 20 years and developed mesothelioma due to his asbestos exposure when he was working.
good to pair that soup with a BLT
my beloveds mum and dad both died of cigarettes within these last 3 years
Sounds like a good combination of flavors Aloy.
Mimi, my hubby's relatives down south did the same thing.. eggs and bacon and ham.. they all lived long lives; Aunt Gladys was 102
Do any of you have Marie Callender's restaurants in your area? They have the BEST potato cheese soup served with honey butter cornbread. OK....now my salivary glands are getting totally out of control...
grilled old cheddar cheese goes nicely with broccoli soup :)
ooh, potato soup!
you will only cut me off my breakfast when you can pry it from my cold, dead hands
agree, Trader!
in fact, I just finished a pimiento on whole wheat toast
now i am really hungry
all this food talk, i am diverted from my word hunting...still need 96! pressure is on now ;)
Even though I had the heart attack last year, I have decided I'm eating what I want. I mostly do eat pretty healthily but a friend of mine went vegan last year and I told her I'd rather die than give up cheese and chicken!
could live without chicken, but cheese??? NEVER!
after 3 cancers,i know damn well it will be cancer that will get me in the end.so i am not going to make myself miserable eating raw foot or whatever.i am on my 6th or 7th like and will live it
life
crossy is secretly a very intelligent cat ;)
carpe diem, crossy!
indeed.aloy!!
already have half my bucket list done
wtg, crossy.. what is next?
I like vegetables, but I think eating all vegetables all the time would get boring.
hmm, ate granola for bfast and missed ce6, 7.. shame on me
thanks aloy, scoooopin' up the clues...
next is a ride in a submarine.this one may take a bit of work
(-: yw
I'm with you there, crossy. When my kids were growing up and starting asking about death here is what I told them: "When it is your turn to go, God knows where to find you. If it's not your turn, no way are you leaving. So don't worry about it because control is an illusion."
does anyone have a hint for the he 7/40 please?
now I'm humming, "we all live in a yellow.."
I also advised them to put off growing up as long as they possibly could because being an adult has little to recommend it. They didn't listen......
think it will be begging a ride on a oceanographic research sub or the like.i do not think our CFB Borden owns a sub for the military lol
i astill have not grown up,and now that i am 50,i am told i do not have to
Contact the Cousteau Society, crossy....they often allow people on expeditions. Their subs are small, though.
lolthey are all small:/
we bought our subs from the brits, and they leak :( if you pay woods hole or james cameron enough $$$ i'm sure they'd oblige ;)
I do miss that icon smores had...I'm 62 and I actually think I'm regressing.
do not get me going on those junkers we got from the brits
he 7/40 ---noggin + what you use to fasten a hem
i think zooz went off to find that english breakfast he was talking about ;)
Like Merlin...instead of getting older, I'm "youthening."
ty Annie!
thank you annie!
there are a few private ones around.i heard of one that services it's own underwater restaraunt.i am told you dine 20-40 feet under the waves
No zooz had a pepperoni pizza :-)
also a very good food choice :)
Bacon almost ready....oh, the smell....guess I'll get going and start building my sammie. I'm singing a rehearsal set later today and usually don't eat first but just had to today. My breath control may suffer...ask me if I care.....!
mmm
sounds interesting crossy, is it in canada?
not sure.just heard of it.still have to research it yet
enjoy your sammie and singing mimi :L)
enjoy your sammie and singing mimi :)
enjoy, Mimi!
OK---lunch time. Be back later. Bye and hugs all around.
tc,mimi.enjoy the sammich
ahh here we go antlantis submarine adventures.it is in hawaii
more of a underwater tour bus thing though.not quite what i was after
if possible i want potential crushing depth and depth charges if they can scrape a few up:)
was wondering how deep you want to go
as deep as i can..well not james cameron sort of trech diving, but somewhere in the middle
trench
where light is low or absent?
would not mind a few pics of our ugly denizens of the deep.a titanic visit would be neat
yes! do that one, crossy
though with those subs you lay flat crammed in like sardines in a can
h'mm, not for the claustrophobic
was thinking more of a cold war era sub.room to roam but can still go deep enough you can hear it groan
lol, you have an adventurous soul
lol,i have bungee jumped and parachuted and ridden in a bi-plane just last year
wow.. scuba dived too?
we have bi-plane sight seeing tours out of our local regional airport
once, did not care for it.am asthmatic
sorry, babble hiccuping here, lots of red boxes today. i think if you pay kabillions you can do the titanic tourism thing...need to win a lottery!
ah so, not the sport for you then
wonder if the powerball winner will loan me 20 mil till payday? lol
maybe there is a bucket wish foundation?
perhaps.but i am not by any mean currently dying.i am in good shape for a man my age atm...well round IS a shape!
:-))
lol, I like that
all clean of cancer atm.other than a touch of arthritis, bursitus, asthma and a few pesky herniated discs i am ready to rock and roll
haha, welcome to "middle age" crossy ;)
hehe.i guess you are correct,kate

What are you reading, Zooz, I could use a recommendation for a rattling good read....

Double post! Sorry
Sorry, Soodle i am doing a light re7 it is just a joke book..which is not that good to be honest.
soodles, when i am searching for my next book and have no idea what i am after,i go to www.goodreads.comg and scan the titles there
goodreads.com*
Good idea, Crossy!
i've just had another take away person come to my house! i wish the council would name our streets better, as i'm sick of my parcels going to the wrong houses and me getting other peoples parcels and their take aways(if they were free fair enough) :) it is so confusing to people where i live, even to us living here!
Zoom doesn't read "those kind" of books Soodle.
No probs, Zooz, but, any recommendations from any Babblers for a light, fluffy read would be welcome. Cross, I scan Goodreads, but I get bamboozled....
You are on form tonight, Molly..hahaha

you must have alot in your hair soodle :) lol
Is the chat borked?
50 Sheds Of Hay...is that the one where you teach the young farm boys how to "become men"?
Chat looks fine to me Tor, unless someone has a giant icon.
i'm in heaven at the moment as i'm eating toffee popcorn and now feeling sick as i haven't eaten it for about 20 years and reminiscing about the times that my cousin and i would buy loads of tut and stuff our faces and buy cheap tequila and drink that and then go out on a pub crawl :)
Tequila and toffee corn? Ewwww.
It was borked for me. I had to reload
tequilia and toffee popcorn?.omg..guess you would tear up the pubs after that!
good times!!.now i feel really old:(
it wasn't always tequila, it was any cheap alcohol and we ate crisps and all sorts of crap
hi all. I have internet explorer. but I want a back up. what should I install?
now the kids just slam vodka and red bulls till there hearts are fluttering like butterflies in their chests..:(
chrome
why crossy?
Peri, get rid of Internet Exploder. It is a terrible browser.
that is from google, correct?
because it is very user friendly,it has its own flash player install and will help if you play lots of flash games.it is just a very stable all round browser
if you stream lots of video, opera may be another choice, but it is really a one trick pony
it was our 'didn't give a monkey's weekend'. we were more like sisters and spent weekends with eachother when we wern't working as we did the same job and worked all the time, so when we got together we just drank and ate crap and had fun partying
yes,it is from google
I have been using IE for years with no apparent problems except for today when I wanted to order something from a company and did not see the lock icon. I did not feel the site was secure. I contacted the company and they said other people with IE had said the same thing and that there site was indeed secure
i have not used IE in 6 years
their site
what do you use, Molls?
not since the horrors of the earlier builds
firefox is another alternative
I have used firefox before but not on this computer
you may find chrome a lot faster than IE because it stores a lot of pre fetch dadta, but that can result in more cookies
daya
I do not need more cookies
data**
I use Chrome
more chocolate, yes
but i would start there, then firefox would be next, followed by opera for video strwaming
streaming
ok
thanks for the info
opera has its own compression servers and can save on data transfer totals if that is a concern with you net package
np
I used to use Firefox but it seems as sluggish as Internet Exploder now.
Aw. Had to bow out there to watch a live stream of a colleagues greyhound racing. It came bloomin' last! Bye bye €20.00. :-(
firefox is not the be all end all it once was,it saved us from IE in the beginning, but yes,it is not all it once was.still belongs in the list
google chrome is excellent and fast
but,if i had to list them it would be : chrome, firefox, opera and use IE only to load other browsers;))
ok
or if you are into s&m give linux a whirl :))
Hi all just starting. Where did this day go? I know it went fast!
pandora is a new kid on the block(for me anyways) but i do not know enough about it
howdy,stidmere
I have used pandora
for music
what did you think of it,peri?
I don't use it much so I am not one to ask. it is fine so far
I like music but do not listen to it much
I am a visual person

hello all, how many words are in this puzzle?
296
thank you
Hello all. I came back to find my final 84 words and started off by finding the re10. A good omen, I hope.
hi jac, i'm well behind you as dinner, phone and tv have inconvenienced me as usual :D
Hi lil. I know what you mean!
haven't seen you for ages. how are you and family?
We're fine thanks, apart from Son being on antibiotics for blocked sinuses after a cold. We've been busy revamping the kitchen, spring-cleaning and gardening. Me and Other Half are off to N. Wales for a week tomorrow. Oh, and son got a job after some years of trying. He starts the week after next. Daughter managed to get to the interview stage of a job this week, too. How are you?
I'm glad I haven't got to bed yet because the police helicopter is hovering noisily overhead AGAIN!
So they are still looking for you Jac?
Lol Molly. They aren't very good at looking if they are. :-)
they hover around us too jac :)
Oh just found the singular and plural for the what a sibling's female child is in relationship to you. I seem to have a blid spot for that word in the grid.
me6/24?
Lil - are you a 'criminal', too? lol
L is not at liberty to talk about her clandestine activities.
Is she not, Molly? *Intrigued.*
i hope you have a nice holiday and glad that your son has a job and fingers crossed for your daughter jac
no, i only burgle at night :)
Thanks lil. x
It seems most burglars only burgle at night, since that's when the helicopter always arrives to wake us all up.
me6.24 the person who owns a haberdashery shop - or deals in fabrics
morning everyone
Morning lynxxx. How are you today?
Ty, lyn.
pretty good - looks like a nice day - we have a holiday for Liz's birthday on Monday so nice long weekend
ty,lynxx
no7?
i'm going to bring the chat down now for 1 minute and then be my happy, sarcastic, get my self in trouble way...but i hate the sound of a helicopter now ever since my daughter was taken to hospital by one, but i take my hats off to the people who do the job and now donate to them so that's it...back to happy times :)
jac, our go throughout the day and night but that is probably the police one and the air ambulance as we have loads of moors around us
Good, lynxxx. That's Liz's official birthday. Her actual birthday is the day before mine in April. Prince Philip is about to go into hospital, just days before his 92nd birthday for keyhole surgery to find out why he has persistant abdominal pains. I do hope it's not cancer.
our hospital has a air ambulance based at it as we are also a marine hospital
Lil - I quite understand why you feel as you do. We get the air ambulance, too, since we're near to a major motorway.
Got it. Thans.
Hi crossy. How are you?
not too bad at all, jacula, and yourself?
saying that, our air ambulance is from darlington and we only have 3 for the whole of the north east and it is all charity basef
Off on holiday tomorrow, Crossy. Rest of answer if further down in chog (6:17pm).

Sounds good Peri
I made an avocado, black bean and corn salad and had that earlier. it is easy and very good too
Hummus is chickpeas, isn't it? If so, yuck! Sorry.
it is but this is really good
traditional hummus is with chick peas, but you can use any bean to make it
moar
The Trader Joe's hummus is really good though
this is the only one I have tried and I really like it
Trader Joes dark chocolate covered caramels are heavenly. their baked goods not so much

WOOOOOT! Let's go Bruins!
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
Hello Min! I am well! How are you?
Hello car.eeyore!I am suffering from allergies, otherwise, I am fine. How about you?I have not seen you here in awhile
I have the allergies too. Ugh. All the rain today should help, but I still feel so sluggish!
I am on my second round of steroids.Had trouble breathing
oh no! I am not that bad! I am sorry to hear that.
NOTHING seems to help my allergies, not even the rain. :(
Hi minver. Glad to see you here this evening. We have blue skies and comfortable temperatures here in the great Northwest also a good place for allergies.
Hi Stidgmere!
I take 3 allergy shots a week and even THAT does not help!
Hello stidgmere! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog
I am hoping they go away by July.I get them every year for 2 - 3 months, from April to July; Spring &Summer allergies.
Hi car! I'm keeping busy and enjoying the early June time.
It sounds beautiful where you are!
I wonder if a little sea voyage would help your allergies, minver. We had relatives who used to visit the shore when their allergies flared in the old days. I bet some of those remedies woudl still work today.
I think Min would have to go out to sea. I know people right at the shore who are suffering as well.
She must choose her cruise ship carefully but I bet lots of them are discounted to attract customers.
Wonder if they would take pity on me & give me an allergy discount. I think I am going to start taking local honey. I've heard that is supposed to help. I have to take it year round
I have heard that as well. It is worth a try!
Well, over 200 words so will now stop and fix dinner. Rather late but it is the brightest part of the day and Murphy is outside with his Dad playing.

:]
oh.. the nightstalker died in jail... good riddance
nighstalker?
i take it he wasn't a nice person
serial murderer
in California.. horrible
definitely not then and deserverved everything he got.so how did he die in jail? was it the death sentence?
natural causes the article says.
he murdered a lot of people.. very scary person
how old was he ru and was he in death row?
53
he was on death row.. not that that means ANYTHING in california as these guys never are put to death
is there a film about him as the name 'night stalker' is familiar
he killed an 8 year old girl..... could be the same.. there was a TV movie on him
mmm, i think i watched a film about him and recently
there used to be a tv show called the Nightstalker...but not about him....
i don't think we ever had a series called that pen
the guy was evil incarnate
but i do remember a film, not long ago about a young girl murdered and that name but it was an american channel on british tv
i don't understand death row...how long are these people on death row?
Killed somewhere around 20 people
so he was a serial killer
he's been in for at least 25 years or more
yes!
since 1985, ruru... hey all
I remember being afraid to walk around SF when he was loose
hey stid
so, i take it in california, it's the death penalty?
we had a period where the death penalty was eliminated
Sometimes being a liberal state has distinct disadvantages
i don't understand why these people are still in prison when they have been given the death penalty
appeals and delays from their attorneys and courts
because in the united states there is a series of appeals that can be used ... and even so on occasion an innocent person is put to death.
he should have been put to death decades ago
Oops...gotta go...night all
we don't have the death penalty anymore which is great for the people that have been wrongly accused but for the people that have done horrific murders?
this guy was clearly not innocent stid
bye molly
you never say that molly.night and tc :)
didn't say he was, ruru -- just that our legal process attempts to provide a way for a person found guilty in error to exonerate themselves
hi stid
like OJ Simpson?
night molls
he's been looking for the killers for years on the golf course
so how long from the time that they are given the death penalty to when it actually happens?
like these, ruru : http://www.innocenceproject.org/know/
varies lillian
in Texas them move them along
a year longer?
In California..they die in prison from old ages
so, basically a long time
yup
I think that if someone was put in jail and the DA or prosecutor knew they were innocent.. the DA and the Prosecutor should spend time in jail
...and a higher percentage of people of color are both convicted and sentenced to death than the proportion of people of color in the population at large.
but.. so many horrible killers are allowed to go on and on.. it's really disheartening
like RIchard Davis, Charles Manson, etc
OJ Simpson
I think life in prison is pretty horrible... but it's easier to say I am sorry to someone who is still alive than someone who was executed in error. And even with all our protections and supposed scientific knowledge there are errors. While I don't think this man was innocent, I think even one innocent person being killed for another person's crime is too many.
I don't think it happens all that often stid does it?
the problem is that so many people are put in prison when they're not guilty but there are more that are, and they deserved to be in prison
again, ruru -- is even ONE innocent person killed in error acceptable to you? It is not, to me. I think that we have relied all too often on "eyewitness" testimony that later turns out to be flawed (at best) and lies (too often). http://tinyurl.com/muvg76g
i know of people who have committed a crime so that they can go back to prison so thay can take exams and come out with a certifucate
no it's not acceptable for anyone stid... but there needs to be changes in the system for criminals who have indisputable evidence against them and have admitted their guilt
I agree, ruru -- people who have admitted their guilt (though a couple people have done so when innocent!) sometimes have to fight their own lawyers to stop appeals!
lilliann, in the United States at least that would be a poor choice because convicted felons have a multitude of career paths that are permanently closed to them.
In general, it seems, the process in the court system takes a long time. I don't know, however, how to best speed it up. When Trayvon Martin was killed, it was January 2012. now it is June 2013 and the accused shooter is only now going to trial in the first place.
the trayvon martin thing is a little sketchier than a Charles Manson thing to me
this is a hard subject as majority of these people in prison are guilty of something and alot of murder whether justified or not...i don't agree with the death sentence, well maybe in some cases but it's how to prove and the law has so many loop holes that so many people get away with murder
i'll have to google trayvon
there are no simple answers to the prison system in America at least
Charles Manson was a case of a spectacular, highly publicized, and publicly admitted awful set of murders. But most murders are not so cut-and-dried; and yet we (the collective set of humans) want quick and final answers. We are perhaps too eager to find "closure" when it would be better to seek facts.
I used to be against the Death Penalty.. until a lot of criminals were allowed to walk and commit more crimes and kill more people.. it seems easier to me to take these horrible people out of circulation
Life in Prison is not easy and would keep dangerous people off the streets. And while some innocent people might be placed in life in prison, we could still apologize and offer some compensation if different evidence came to light that exonerated them.
the process of getting innocent people out of prison has increased in the last two decades.. with the advent of DNA.. and other high profile tools of the police.. I'm not really talking about the common criminals who are incarcerated
apparently there will be 500 potential jurors on the case of Travyon Martin on june the 10th
we had a similar case here where a young black man was killed by an overeager cop.. at a Bart Station.. pretty horrible too
anyway, I am definitely not going to even make it to halfway on this tonight... *sigh* I think I need some wine. And maybe I should make myself some pudding. If I have cornstarch...
hm. I have everything I need for banana cr5 pie except pie crust fixin's. I could make banana pudding!
which I know is a complete non sequitur....
I have riesling, would that go with banana cr5 pie?
yes.. unless it is a kabinett
spatlese or auslese would be good with pie
I made a berry tart today
I shouldn't have though
throwing toffee popcorn at ru for some berry tart:D
why not ru?
well.. cuz i'm trying to lose weight and we had all these berries.. and I shouldn't make sweets..it starts a binge :D
my tastes have certainly changed over the years as i now hate toffee popcorn...far too sickly!!!
I can't stand popcorn
i freeze my berries and then juice them
so do i now :)
i'm out for some fresh air.. thank you for your help molly and lillian
i don't eat sweets but i do like a 70% CHOCOLATE
oops..lol bye ru tc hin
mmm. berry tart...
later ruru...
lilliann -- does "the bairn" get out of school for summer soon? (Tom brought the riesling -- without prompting -- and choclits, so I will make the pudding another day)
mid july stid for 6 weeks
hopefully we'll catch up with hubby by then :)
oh, that's a while to wait -- are you in year-round schooling there? or do you have most of September off as well as August?
it's from late july til early september here. 6 weeks holiday
I ask, because in the U.S. it is -normal- to have off June through August, about 9-10 weeks.
evening
then we have holidays in between, like 2 weeks christmas and then other holidays
our schools have 6 weeks but our universities have about 10 weeks
our univiversties start late september early october
interesting. I wonder if the shorter interval between terms helps the younger students.
hey jes! (((hugs))) did you find a home for your new little guy?
i wouldn't know stid.what year do youn teach or want to teach?
hi jes
colleges here usually start either in mid-August or late September. I haven't figured out a rhyme or reason for that.
nope. i've actually had an influx of wildlife instead of offloading anything
Here in Arizona we have some year-round schools. They get 4 breaks throughout the year. I liked that better.
I am qualified to teach various things at all ages, actually -- mostly around literacy. But what I would like to teach are the younger teens -- it's a tricky developmental stage, but it's interesting.
I think I would prefer a year-round schedule, actually; except that a longer summer break does allow for some additional professional development opportunities.
oh boy, jes -- spring babies?
I think year-round is better because there's not such a long summer break so the kids don't forget things as easily. It just seemed better for mine to have several shorter breaks.
let me know on here stid as i know some teachers but there are primary school but you could get in touch with them and talk about the differences and it would be good for children to interact.or i could contact my daughter's school which is 12 onwards and that would be good for them to get in contact with other children and teachers
Jes, bless you for being there to help the wildlife. I used to do that when I was younger and had a house. I even raised a baby hummingbird!
hi mimi :)
2 are - orphan raccoons. 1 dog-chewed turtle, 1 evening grossbeak (euthanized; dislocated shoulder), 1 pine siskin with conjunctivitis - might do okay? current internal debate is that the most likely cause is something that can't be cleared, so even if she does well it's questionable whether i should release her potentially carrying her disease with her... and a broken legged moose calf that we euthanized because no realistic way to treat the fracture she had.
thanks lilliann -- I will let you know when I have a classroom! I have wanted to try something like that! kids really get a lot out of sharing with peers around the world.
((lilliann))
mimi, you really need to write your book as i'm gagging to read it or them as there will probably be multiple :)
poor little critters, jes... I am sorry about the euthanizations.
LOL, lil....I'm working on it!
mimi -- what age did you tech?
or teach? LOL I think the riesling is getting to my figners.
one of the issues with doing wildlife - in large part, by the time they can e caught, they are so ill it's hard to do anything for them
well mimi, GET OFF HERE AND GO TO WORK GIRL!! :)
Oh, I didn't teach, stid...was just talking about my children's school days. Always wanted to teach, though...maybe still one day.
Hi all! I'm just checking back in to see if clues are needed.
oh! :-) LOL
hey min! welcome to the grid!
100 min and hi :)
Jes, it's always difficult working with animals. In the zoos, wildlife park and primate center where I worked my heart was broken on a regular basis. But it's easier for me in a way since I believe animals do have souls that go on.
never did get a clue for the first qu 8/55....
Hi, Min!
i need to go to lurkdom...bye for now all
Will see you later, lilliann...thanks for the encouragement about the book!
bye
one of the things I loved about homeschooling, mimi, was that we took breaks when the kids really seemed to need it (a week or two) and then back again to deliberate learning... they didn't lose much during the breaks, and learning felt "seamless"
Me neither penquis which is why I still don't have that word
bye lilliann -- ((hugs)) see you next time
ah well.....it was worth a shot... ;o)
i have a qu8/55 that is plural of qu7/50
I got that one earlier from a clue (can't remember who gave it) but it's complicated and I don't remember it. Want me to muddle through and try anyway?
I have that one, too -- not sure where it falls in the order of things, though
thanks, jes, but I have that one...it's the first one i need....
i haven't listed, so not sure how many of what are where, sorry.
qu "5" in latin, then short for **ie in wonderland
and plural
jes, that is such a tough job you have my bairn wants to work with animals and she is 13nearly14 but i don't know what to tell her what she should do. i have told her that she should go to college and get some understanding of animals as she wants to work with all animals at the moment but she doesn't want to be a vet..sorry
i haven't gone stid, i'm trying to finish the grid but will pinch clues in hiding :)
LOL "lurker lil?"
i did say i'm going to lurkdom stid :)
I gave up on grid at 5:05 so I am useless. I leave you with a story of clues in my profile.Goodnite babblers! See ya later
Being a vet is difficult because the animals are never happy to see you! But being an animal caretaker is very rewarding and only requires some knowledge of species-specific behaviors. However, there really is NO money in working as a caretaker...it's truly a labor of love.
sweet dreams min
She should take zoology and anthropology courses.
she doesn't6 want to put them to sleep
g'night, min
that's why she doesn't want to be a vet
working on it....
goodnight min, sweet dreams and tc
That is part of any job working with animals, lil, unfortunately. I lost a baby orangutan once to meningitis and it nearly killed me as well since I was "mom" to her.
**ie in Wonderland??
**ice in wonderland, pen
**ice in wonderland, sorry -- warned you I have issues with my figners!
oh...well i already have that qu word then...
i know that mimi, apart from the orangutan but tell that to a 13 yr old
it's the other one i need...
mimi, please hurry ap and write your books. i really want to read them
Most things we must learn for ourselves, lil. Couldn't tell me anything either at that age!
i need to finish this grid so i'm not being rude but bfn
yes, more books!
perhaps your daughter should see if she can volunteer in a place that works with animals...my niece did that at about the same age....led to her going to veterinary school....
I'm taking a new approach to writing now. Instead of trying to write in chronological order, I'm just writing anything and everything that comes to mind and will put it together later.
am back. really pen at 13?
Fortunately, anything I've forgotten my best friend of 44 years will remember!
an interesting idea, mini
mimi, I mean.
she may have been 14...but she worked an afternoon after school every week...
drat. dumb tired brain
at the moment , she wants to walk dogs in the summer hols
i know some kids here have done that at a farm that has horses....and they were middle schoolers.....12 to 14....
Humane societies and many zoos will allow kids of that age to work there as volunteers.
i'm going back to grid as i need 100 in 50 minutes
walking dogs is a good job for a kid her age
np...see you later...
I like the mini, stid...makes me feel thinner!
i am going to bed.....perhaps i will check the archives tomorrow and find out what that darn q word was...
I finally passed halfway.
goodnight all....
She could also put an ad in the local paper to care for pets while people are away on vacation and make a little extra money.
Night, pen.
sweet dreams penquis
sleep sweet, penquis
mm, given me an idea, we have a locval farm here which has sheep rabbits, guinea pigs, chicks to hold and sheep and goats to feed and other animalas.maybe they may take her on
bye pen, tc hin
They probably would, lil...in any case, doesn't hurt to try.
she was going to put an ad in the paper to walk dogs mimi
Pretty much anywhere that raises animals is always short-handed and would welcome the help.
they are busy in the summer and she would do it for nowt
i'll phone them in the morning to ask
If she ever wants to ask me anything about animal behavior or caring for different types of animals, I'm happy to email with her, lil. My em is in my profile.
tyvm mimi. i've written it down for her
I'm really tired, so quitting for tonight. See everyone tomorrow. Hugs all around.
sweet dreams also mimi see you next time
night mimi, tc hin and sweet dreams :)
the sunlight is coming in throught he blinds now :)
hm. good morning, lillian!?? LOL my son will be meeting my great-uncle today for his 100th birthday celebration... we have never met the gentleman, but my son's trip to Europe happened at an opportune moment in time.
how lovely for him stid.where in europe?
it's my birthdya on monday but i'm not 100
he visited friends in West Asia (Georgia) now he is in Germany
omg, i just re-read 100!!
oooh. happy birthday, lilliann!!! 25 again!!!!! *starts lighting candles, 25 for each year we are "skipping"
LOL
yes, he was my grandmother's little brother.
no, i will be 21 :D
my nan will be 97 this year, but she doesn't remember any of us
:-) such a bairn yourself!
lol :)
I am sorry your grandmother doesn't remember.
My grandmothers were fading at the end, but they knew who loved them up to the end. Our family was lucky.
me too but i'm use to it as when iwas 16 i worked in a pyschiatric hospil and then went on to work in old peoples homes and then people with severe behavourial problems, so i'm used to it, but it is different whn it is your own family memmber
yes, it would be different, and perhaps like parenting as opposed to teaching, harder in a lot of ways. No emotional buffer when it's your own family.
sorry for bad spelling but it is 5.30am and i'm tired
nbt
have you been up all night?
go jes go!
exactly, but i've always cared for someone as they were my family
not a finishing grid today - still have 134 left
yep. I know the feeling.
132 :)
yesw, now i need to try and finish grid...too many, but i'll try...i'm a fighter :)
Yippee! I got a 9!
down to 132 just now jes...
131...it's a race :)
no jes, you'll get me for sure tonight. between my tiredness and the wine, I am pretty slow
I can't get one I word!
in4/4
I have three in 4.4 all babblets gadget, you want me to throw you a fish?
cl8 please
gerund of cl5
thanks jes!
ty jes, toss the fish :)
ar8 please
i don't normallyn ask for clues but i will this morning :)
play vider
gerund a place that has carnival games, lilliann -- the regular word isn't in the grid
play video games...
good clue fla
thanx
tyvm
cremola IS TOO a word. mutterstupidmutterenable
rofl jes!
"cremel" toothpaste was a real brand... bet it tasted like it sounds!
it's a color of horse
it is?
what kind of horse? appaloosa?
no, appaloosa is a breed. cremola is not breed specific, just a color - an almost white horse.
hm. okay. :-)
someday I will have to re-learn about horses.
well, for once i've given up as i know that the next grid will pop up soon so i'm going to bed.nite all :)
okay, down to 112 now and done for me. taking a break
broke 100! :)
it knows funny dog color me words though....
