hi une :)
hi :-)
glad you made it dee, better late than never ;) the flip just wouldn't be the same without you!
phantom - misjudged
joh - thank you to those helping to clue me just before the flip, it was much appreciated :)
ty, (kate)
hi broll :)
hi all
{{{dee}}} hope you had a chance to unwind a bit....
Sure did; we had a fun weekend dogsitting our daughter's dog.
sound the eskimo knife :)
re6 for middle bottom R
hiya all!
er, found... hi melon :)
hi mel
pa 6 x 2
that's a 6 and 7 cos, isn't it?
or does that come from the corner "r"?
mi 6 x 2
hi everyone
flosey came back :)
no its a re4/6 combo but the re4 comes from another R
I did :)
ty cos, i have one of the 2 for that suare.. looking :)
A famous Dizzy Dean word is in the grid; well, not quite a word. It is a unique past tense having to do with getting to base in a speedy close-t--the-ground move.
up6/7
and that makes nbt/nbs
well done cos!
they are odd ones, cos
tyvm :)
and ty
got it... strange word, no?
indeed
yes.. monkeys working hard tonight.
and the other up6!!
I felt cheeky even trying it
looking for it now
oh, i am missing the up 6,7 that cos called, got a up 6/24 (flosey's?)
yes Kate, odd eh?
got it thanks i knew it had to do something with what you said... got all the U's
last u is ul4
i htought taht one was the one cos called, until i saw up 6,7 inthe chog.. theni knew i had to look more ;) that is the eskimo knife cjos :)
typing has once again gone down the toilet.. perhaps it is time to call it a night. inever get much done when i am too tired :)
i am off too to watch a movie... gn all!
good night cos :)
night cos
you're lucky the flip is 3 hours earlier for you flo, 1 a.m. here is too late to be trying to focus and think... much more conducive to farming oor smesuch
yes, when I visit Ont. I seldom start it at night
and the rain is pouring down here again, second wave since midnight :)
oh yuk
up 6 x 2
oor smesuch?
LOL ruru
unfortunately, i am often up until midnight... so it's not too much of a stretch to decide to wait for a "peek" at the new grid.. but hte peek turns into a flip, then it's nbt/nbs... and it snaowballs from there, because sjome clues start flying around the chog.... babble is an addiction... "hello, my name is kate, and i am a babbler...."
erm... or somesuch....
hi kATE
nbt nbs finally
mommy!!! ruru's making fun of me!!!! where is momof5 btw?
congratrs dee!!!!
ty vm
lol ruru :) you coming to the meeting ? ;)
wtg Dee, I do have nbs but lots of blank tiles
I DON'T have a single word yet
ty flosey... definitely not a fast flowing grid for me, too
no, same here
oooh, a bit of thunder and lightening now too. flosey - you haven't hada nay rain allmonth, have you? weather network said no rain at vancouver airport since june...
ruru, sit down on your re4/4 and focus!
no, we have darkening
hello all -- Endeavour is over now so I can babble.
no kate, it's been gorgeous here
hi jill :)
hi jilli
hi jili
I watched that too, Jilli. I have trouble imagining this serious young man with the old one.
a bit cool here, but i'll take it after the 2 weeks of 40+ humidex and 30+ temps. great sleeping weather :)
Good night all got get up early tomaro for my sisters wedding bye
hi bugs :) endeavour wasn't on here today :(
Jilli and I are on the west coast so we see if from Seattle
bugs, I agree -- I keep trying to match them up. But the old one did look thoughtful too -- pondering things.
He lived for work for sure, but he had a temper and a sense of humour. this young one is too flat. I hope he gets more lively as time goes by.
i'm sure last week i saw it an hours before you...
i'm sure last week i saw it an hours before you...
you guys lost me sorry
and he did cryptic crosswords...
maybe you are seeing different episodes, Kate
the young morse actor will have to find his footing - agreed! but the series looks goodso far :)
ruru Endeavour is the young Morse, if you ever watch that PBS MYSTERY SHOW.
I am enjoying it Kate. I like a lot of the British mysteries
no idea
i am just seeing the 3rd episode i think...? inspector morse as a young man, new to the police force ruru...
It may not be rude enough for ruru. . . . ;)
*watched. And I don't know why the caps lock suddenly went on.
aaaaaack! i just checked tv guide... masterpiece theatre was on tonight and i missed it, not listed as endeavour :( now i will have to catchit late at night....
ruru, do you ever watch PBS?
don't you have to sleep though Kate? just a thot
I don't watch tv actually
tape it Kate, and see it at a normal hour
except for a little football
and the news sometimes
i do too bugs, but poirot is my favourite...david suchet is the consumate hercule, non? ;)
well, you're missing some good stuff, ruru.
mrs ru watches more tv than me
This Miss Marple is okay but I liked Frynee Fisher, however that is spelled
sleep would be nice... speaking of... i really should pop off. see you all tomorrow :)
mais oui, Kate -- but I was watching a program about Agatha Christie a while ago and she got fed up with him!
really? he was, how do you say, too fastidious, yes?
I think Miss Marple about two actresses ago was the best -- forgotten her name now.
I think ruru is kind of like Poirot because he travels and eats well. What do you think Jilli?
yes, Kate, and too arrogant
was it Margaret Rutherford jilli?
my favourite Miss Marple was one when I was a kid. She looked just like my Granny.
And (secret) he has a moustache...
arrogant
the thin one... i liked her too, though i usually don't like miss marple... the lady played an elderly lady in a comedy that the angel of death had sent his son to take her.. but he didn't...and stayed on in the house, i'd like to see that series again :)

Evening buful people!
hi moon
{{woof}} finally going to meet braxton tonight. previously didn't want to load up son and his wife with my presence. they have had so much to cope with. am hoping for a cuddle...if so, will get DH to take photos, and will post them...
Grats! And very looking to photos!
{rose} And how is DH?
good morning
Morning {Ms Foo}!
braxton was transferred to a local hospital today, and a very recent email form son says he will be discharged home tomorrow.
{{ruby}} do hope you are both well.
But he's better and that's quite excellent!
{{rosie!}}
our heat broke and we are having a welcome deluge. I've begun building an ark.
I'm so happy that they solved Braxon's problem and that you will finally get to see him!
yes, my dear. within 1 1/2 hours of surgery we had a completely different baby.
woof moon,woof
Surely you're up hig enuf to avoid the worst of the flooding... But grats on the break and new hobby =D
* big grin* i was so sure i would never get to see him...
we are on a reatively steep hillside, so no flooding problems except maybe on the lower level. But I'm not complaining. It actually hit 100F here on Saturday, the warmest it'ss been in the 15 yr we've been here
But tonight! And that's excellent. Very looking forward to pix, as I said. Of both baby and floodlands now ^^
and tell me, ruby, how many cubits in a metre??
I guess |I'll have to Google it, lol
you can't build an ark unless you know how many cubits in a metre...LOL
I have faith that Ms Nellie could make something entirely servicable, wether to exacting arc proportions or not xD
lol, yeah, totally agree woof. she is one very accomplished lady...
But still... if she Did manage the cubits required I would be extra impressed ^^
ty for the sho f confidence
Now, to start gathering the animals. So far, only cats and dogs....lol
2.1872266 to be exact
okay, time to go visit braxton...catch you all later. * ear-to-ear grin*
ty Dianne!
have a good time {rose}! Lots of cuddles from us too!
we can't wait to see the pix! {{rosie\]]
hello dianne; that will be very helpful
can't wait to see the finished product

at least it has colled off, so this AM I made white peach jam and am working on vichysoise
*hugs ruby* Yeah, I know. Only money... and only worries. Glad it is over. Are you more able to relax now? Knowing the worst often helps...
unfortunately, it' not even close to being over; it could go on for years!
a little cooler here as well. Just got my taters out of the ground, they were still small, but we think they will be so tasty! Didn't tgive them enough water, I think.
so I'm having my "cook's treat", peach jam slush with vodka, weaten with a spoon
nice, ruby.
it is MUCH cooler here, dropped more than 10 degrees C in less than an hour last evening
Rafie's surgery got postponed to the 9th because the vet got bitten by an old cat at work and was so sick from the ensuing infectin, that she was hospitalized.
Now I'm just hoping monster-girl doesn't come into heat in the next 10 days!
lol, it never stops, does it
the good news is that the vet will pick up Raffie on her way to work and bring her home at the end of the work day, this saving a lot of wear and tear on us
sweet of her
thus*
and the fact that she loves our dogs is very reassuring
after all, she helped keep Ruby alive an extra 6 months or so
yes, giving you the chance to get used to the idea. That was awesome.
halfway... doesn't look like a real friendly grid
89 but still can't find the bottom, singleton r in the 4th column

Oh dear, what happened to rose?
{{hi and bye anne|]]
hiya Annie :) Rose's grandchild is healthy now.
hi and by ((ruby)))
hey ya annie
rose, what happened to Braxton?
hi sprite :)
sprite, how is your hubby?
annie, braxton simon was born last tuesday, many ups and downs, culminated by a trip to operating thatre on saturday night. all is absolutely fantastic since.
getting better every day now, Annie. Less and less pain, not too much other issues, and he sleeps like a baby... all night and at least twice a day a nap :)
roflol, spritey...poor DH
rose, I was not aware of that. Thank G-d he is well and healthy. Lovely life for Braxton Simon.
nah, he was stressed and very tired before the whole hernia issue. I think he is catching up on sleep and relaxation. Plus still taking some oxycodone, which certainly helps, grin
sprite, I am also happy your hubby is in the mend.
thank you Annie :)
Best wishes to Braxton
and sprite's hubby
hiya bichon
hi bichon

*giggle* DH is having problems sending me the photos of braxton...you should hear what he is saying...nothing which needs to be censored...but he is so impatient...
immediately if not sooner, know what you mean
lol, I can picture him. "If I wanted it now, I'd have ordered it yesterday!"
oh, you two...so on the mark....
rose, could you please point me vaguely towards the mu6/7 combo?
lol, sure can... mu + plural letter + hook letter(high score tile) + ego

mom, which day are you coming to our festival? it starts on Friday ;)
I wish I could
we have just extended our labor day holiday one day and also decided to go to LA for new years
Sounds delightful!
Are you going away for Labor Day?
yes. going to the rhythm and roots festival on RI shore
near narraganset
but i need boots and have not yet bought any. keep hoping to find them in consignment, no luck
That will a great time
okay...photos of braxton on my profile...*proud granny grin*
What kind are you looking for?
yes, it will! i hope to go a day or two early to sightsee
why do you need boots?
western/cowgirl. a friend just found some in consignment. need leather soles
ah so
because that is what dancers wear.
i don't wear boots well so it will be a challenge. and they cost too much to make a mistake.
thinking of that.. if you will be dancing, the boots should feel comfortable.. don't think I could maintain my balance in boots with heels
If you can find some early enough, you can practice :-)
good morning everyonw:))
everyone*

Hello, everyone! Taking a day off...feels good. Crossy, sent you an em with a couple more Netflix suggestions.
thanks granny but no - I dont list so dont know what I need...just get what I can and call it a day
I'm with you, River..what is WRONG with us?!!
Hi Mimi - when I first started playing this game I was crazy to finish every day.....
I used to get stressed out over it - how crazy is that - so I had a serious talk with myself and myself saw the light....lol!
I'm just interested in enjoying getting as many as I can on my own and sometimes using the clues provided in chat...too much work to get every word for me...I'm using this to relax.
I need to get back to work now - have a great day everyone
Ijust love playing every day and see how far i get. Only manage to finish the little grids
that the way I feel now Mimi
is
Bye, River!
river, mimi...you are both so out of the ordinary...my hat is off to both of you...xoxox
Just an underachiever and lazy, rose!
unfortunately....it would appear that i am COD....need to finish every night...
never, mimi...you are the norm...i am strange....
I would probably learn a lot by listing but just don't have the motivation. Mostly I'm here for this community of amazing people...including yourself!
good morning all - i also play to finish and don't think it strange - we are all just here for different reasons
lol, mimi...thanx for that...it's people like yourself who keep people like me going.
Absolutely, teach...no value judgements...our diversity is a wonderful thing.
and again...thanx teach...nice to know i'm not strange...
Gonna go get some breakfast. HAGD, and hugs all around. You hang in there, rose...you're one of the special people.

:-) My name was in yesterday's grid... I typed it up just a few times to make me feel important. LOL
thing about us who are easily amused is the world will always be a place of wonder and enjoyment:)
So true, Crossy.
Good morning everyone, but just popping in before I head up to the nursing home to play the piaon for those dear people.
and that would be *piano*
good thing you are a musician and not a writer;)) you type like crossy
I type too fast
have no idea what chemical removes paint other than acetone
same
my mind goes ahead of my fingers
enjoy your afternoon of music
same here
our dulcimer group will play Wednesday morning at a nursing home - play there every other month
We have singalong, then 30 minutes of exercise for which I play appropriate music to get them motivated, and then a worship service. It is a full morning, but I enjoy it . :-) Off I go,.... be back later.
does the same wihen i put pen to aper as well
when....paper
I love the dulcimer... have some selections on my computer e.g. the Hammered Dulcimer
Do you play the dulcimer, Diane?
play the lap dulcimer - not the hammered dulcimer
Cool. Love the dulcimer. Not exactly a mainstream instrument!
No.... I just listen ;-) I have both types in my "large" music collection on my computer. But.... I must go. See you all later !
Ta ta!
also play the bowed psaltery which is even less common instrument
ok,first run through 56 to go NBT and NBS for crossy:) now the pain begins:)

I play Babble.
i play the radio;)
Couldn't read or play a note to save my life.

It propbably has something to do with being mathematically inept as well.
ok,mixi, pound me out some jerry lee lewis and i will paint your walls
ah -- see our star trek navigator is back
he is.nice guys.always replies on fb
I painted the walls, I need the doors stripped.
even easier.but will cost you 30 minutes on the piano
god bless gel paint stripper and drumel tools
back to that ep 6 -- any clue that doesn't involve a paint remover I don't know?
OK. I have 9 louvered doors and 5 flat doors and two exterior doors.
Amen to that, Crossy.
i save all my old tooth brushes for those tight crevices
ouch, mixi.better be ready to play for 2 days
or 3
ep*center of earthquake, french for sea
ty mixi
*!* ta da *!*
mu6,42?
was confused -- thought the earlier clue was for the paint stripper, not what you used after that and before painting
going to get some music to learn for crossy
just monkey with the high point letters, mixi
ahh! ty cybernan
the louvered doors are a pita
lots of doors, live in a mansion?? lol

congrats mixi
tc cybernan
no. 1687 sq. ft. every closet has louvers plus many are double doors.
HAGD nan
reim
thank goodness we went for solid doors in this house -- but have had the louvred before - lousy job!
and I have latex over oil paint, so they have to be stripped first.
only time we had anything other than solid doors was when we were on wood heat and had a special transom set up above each door
Are they solid core doors, mixi?
house was built in the early 60's so probably.
love solid wood doors
Solid core doors make a big difference - especially for bathrooms.
yup.nice for everyone not to hear every burp and gurgle
mm.crossy killed the chog.i had a shower and come back and it has not moved
Crossy, we do that with our old toothbrushes too.
yup.saves scratching the wood across the grain
there are other tools that do that, but i find toothbrushes work the best
hint for the mu 6, pls
especially if you have lots of router or hand carved scroll work
Fireworks!
mu is some kind of temple.totally impossible to clue.i will spell it out if you wish
yaa for judi!!
We use toothbrushes to clean in hard to get places
Mu6: arab temple.
arab temple?
not mosque?
Yep. Uses the highest point letter, if that helps.
pain in the arse word it is

Greeks letter, plural, + high point letter + **, ego, superego

agreed crossy
I am so happy. The extreme (100F) heat broke, it's rained most of the day and I feel terrific. Even did some extreme cookinh : white peach jam, vichysoise, Italian suasage sauce for pasta yay!
yaaa for ruby!!:)) crossy has hawaiian crock pot chicken going as we speak
it is cool here also
and nothing hurts!!!!
You had 100 degree temps in anecy? Thought it would be cool there
ahhh. a day when nothing huirts is a good day
that's the hottest it's been in the 15 yrs we've been here
and the rain was wonderful
for how many days was it that hot ruby?
it grdually built to yhat,: one day 90, then 93, tyhen 95, etc. It was awful as, although it s dry, we have air only in the bedroom and we have no screens
I noticed that people in Europe don't have screens.
have an appt with a financial investor today.crossy BIG tidbit of the day.check to see if your state or country offers R.D.S.P,s (registered disability savings funds) if they doo all you need to qualify is a letter from revenue canada/internal revenue/etc stating that you qualify for disability tax credits with your yearly income tax and you can set up a r.d.s.p!! nice return .but must commit for ten years
we don't have mosquitoes, but we ertainly have flies
clue for the 4th column r, pls.....
i am still looking for it also, ruby
RE 5/14 - to complete again
{{ty teach}}
duh! fish me! .fish me twice! i already had that one
I would love to know what the definitiion of the up 6/7? Sounds like an oxymoron.
maybe it's an upscale bar
to spring upwards:to rise
LOL
with lowlife clientele
like rubys definition the best
"the voice of experience"
we are glad to have you, ruby:))
(bluhing)
my husband is threatening to kill himself, how awful is that
Vive La ruby!
vive la compagnie!
what triggered thsat?
Why?
he is just getting stranger and stranger
he thinks he's a burden
How old is he, ruby?
Ruby that is the dementia talking. I'm sorry he's saying things like that.
Molly" are there "official" stages of Alzheimer's? I need to know for our lawyers
he'l be 88 in Sept
((ruby)) i am sorry.did not know he had dementia
we went through that with my MIL - she would start every conversation with "You know what I want"
My mother will be 90 in Feb., but she doesn't live with us.
The question is whether it's Alzheimer's or just old age, what we used to call senility. I feel like a kid!!!
I think a psychiatrist could evaluate him.
It's not like cancer Ruby, they don't define it as Stage 1, Stage 2, etc. I think it's safe to say your husband has an advanced case though. Ask your doctor, if you trust his opinion.
Senility and Alzheimers and dementia are the same thing
i had a taste of this when my father had a prolonged case of confabulation due to a sudden thiamin dump
Unfortunately, husband's doctor doesn't speak English and husband acts much better around outsiders
Usually in the advanced stages the individual is unable to function at all - dress themselves, feed themselves
what is that crossy?
I'd say he's medium
My m-i- l has it and there are stages they go through. But obviously the boundaries are not that clear. We visit her one day and the next she has no recolation what so ever. Very difficult for you
Not so. Many advanced Alzheimer's patients can do some of those things. It has to do with the degree of memory loss.
it is a sudden loss of thiamin usually brought on by decades of severe alcohol abuse.it gives a muddled mind and loss of memory for a prolonged time
Righty now, it's becoming a legal question. Our lawyers were here yesterda and they asked what stage it was.
It's progressive. A year ago I was able to carry on a conversation with Mom and she new who my husban, children and grand children were. Now she only recognizes me and my father, to her, was cheating on her
yes.legal papers should be in order now
Alcoholic dementia, also referred to as wet brain.
You have to get an evaluation by a doctor who speaks the language he speaks
they want to know if your hubby is still cognizant enought to understand and sign paperwork
and I would like his daughter to come again for his birthday, but he doesn't want to see her bevcause her daughter (his granddaughter) is having a 3d bby and he doesn't approve
what you should do,asap is get signing athority.if you do not have it already.perhaps guardianship
Unfortunately, nobody speaks English and the laws are probably different
well,i am assuming the basics are the same.if you cannot sign for him,you will have problems
Almost all of the money, p roperty, etc., is in my name, unchanged after we married
go to alz.org - they list 7 stages of progression in alzheimers - last stage - unable to sit up, swallow, respond to environment
ok,ruby.that is well
Ruby, power of attorney is pretty universal.
My name, that is
and are you executrix in last will that was made?
not to rush things, but best have all in order
We have a revokable trust [Mom and I] an I have medical power of attorney.
After everything that happened with my parents, I made my son power of attorney now. That way, if anything happens to me, he does not have to jump through legal hoops.
we just finished with my wifes mothers "simple" will it was a simple will, all was in order and it still took 8 months and cost 4400 dollars at the end of it all
there are also different degrees of cognitive impairment with dementia (which is different than alzheimers)...sometimes the results of a neuropsychological evaluation are used along with family input to determine the severity of the impairment...
terrible diseases,both;((
with my MIL we had everything in her name and my husbands name - he was her only child - so it was simple and he just took over the deed to the house and the bank accounts upon her death
I jut hecked that website (ty teach) nd will translate some of it for his doctor nd try to get a letter. He's around the middle stage from their criteria
do you have power of attorney for your husband, ruby?
I'll ask the lawyer tomorrow
if not,get it soon
I think he's still i Genea
hope it helps - it is such a difficult thing to live with
yes, power of attorney is extremely important....
it made a huge difference when my friend's husband's condition worsened...
I think I ave a cold heart because I don't feel very involved. Sad for him, yes, but not otherwise
don't think that way....my friend said the same thing...
my friend also told me that participation in a support group was very helpful to her...not sure if that is an option where you are....
Ruby, you do NOT have a cold heart. The man you fell in love with has not been around for a long time. The way you feel is understandable.
we all face lifes trials and pain differently, ruby
I don't think so, but I'l ask his doctor
what molly just said
Thank you, Molly.
your reaction is a natural defense mechanism kicking in....very natural....
THIS is y support group
And it is very hard on you, having to deal with all of this by yourself.
you cannot bleed for everything and everone.you are using natures way of defense
also hubby's doctor needs to know about his emotional state....my friend's husband benefited from medication for his emotional state...
these women here are giving golden advice ruby,i will just give you a crossy bear hug while they share this with you
Unfortuately his (macho) French doctor doesn't listen to me. He prescribed Xanax, but doesn't think there's anything really wrong
ah....too bad....is he a family doctor?....perhaps asking for a referral to a neurologist?...
I don't think the testing would work as his French is poor and he can't hear much
no, but the neurologist would know more about what, if any, medication would be helpful....a neurologist is an md....a neuropsychologist is a psychologist, not an md....
I will get on the phone tomorrow and try to find some help
first mi5? and thanks
are you near an embassy or consulate?....if so, someone there might be able to help you....
never mind just found it
no, we are far from Paris, living in the country
ah, ok....it was just a thought...
a very good one, but perhaps they could help me online or by phone
indeed,they could
it's possible...worth a try...
I never think of turning to Americans abroad as there are none in our village
where is your village?
we are 15 minutes SE of Annecy and one dhour straight sough of Geneva
but I can't get to Geneva
so is that in the southeast?
yes, in the foothills of the Alps
It' s a popular European tourist destination, but not well known to Americans
yes, pretty isolated as far as Americans are concerned...
I picked the place, so I shouldn't whine about it
ok 1 left which is foxing me can anyone clue ji4/10 please
ji + belief
Ruby, I really wish you had a different doctor. Is there any way to find an American doctor there?
no. Even when we still used doctors in Geneva, they all spoke French. The only one who speaks English is our ophthalmologist and he's in Lausanne
you could ask that question when you call the embassy....they might know where the nearest american doctor might be....
I'll try but this is a pretty remote region
hen husband has been hospitalized here, several times already for differet things, there was nobody with who he could communicate, I had to do all the interpreting (and I'm no expert!)
you may have to travel a bit
(and a wore typist!)
worse*
sorry ruby just not getting it! can you clue it differently plz
j + belief
ji + not large but **all...
anita - ji + two consonants
ty soo much got it

sorry caps
congrats anita
yay anita
ty cross
congrats!
lay it all out and there is no confusion;))
ty ruby
ruby...if you do decide to call the embassy, make sure you have written down your questions ahead of time...
it's hard not to lay it out when cluing a four letter word, lol....
yes,make a list! most important!
good idea, penquis, that's what I do when I have to make calls to Fr companies
I make lists with key Fr words
we always make a list now when we go to DR appts
and give yourself a couple of days to jot down questions...
Hi everyone
hi andree
howdy,andree
thank you all for your very good advice and, even better, your support. Good night

Have now arrived back in London, loved Ireland best, starting Europe trip tomorrow, finding it almost impossible to babble on an iPad

i have missed minver also.... and haven t seen neil for ages
aha

no w
oh there that's better
Smart cat in the grid : D
yes :)
one thing that is funny about my cats
i take them with me whenever i can, if i go away. like to my parents' house this past week. so, they meow when i put them in the crates and into the car. and cinder meows when we start off, then sort of eases off when we get on the highway. but, she doesn't do this on the way home. they are all calmer on the way home. like they have the logic to know, we were just NOT home, so we are likely GOING home, so we will not complain now.
fireworks
You could mess with them and take them on a multiple visiting trip : D
pe 7/32 ??
The one who does form of the pe5 before it.
pe5...spelled like what beats in your chest
gottem... thanks
off to give walter his treatment and pt...later all
Why I will never retain a word like ep6...either of a pair of isomeric aldose compounds, especially of certain sugars, that differ from each other in the positions of the H and OH at the second atom from the end of the carbon chain, as d-glucose and d-mannose.
My brain has no retention ability for words that mean such things. : O
hi all, howyadoon
and still, puter is not a word
George Takei is in the grid!
well really, why would puter be a word
indeed he is bugsaw
puter is what we use to get onto the interwebs . . . 8-)
I wud rather puter than some of the words it does take
my young niece found that confusing enough to distinguish computer from pewter (i would frequently help her with categories of things by telling her my necklace represented a cat and was made of pewter)
I'm not real fond of puter or other shortened words.
pyooter is electronic brain. peeyooter is an alloy. Way Way Different LOL
re 6/24 pls
how can you have nonpareils if you can't have pareils
i have re6/24, your street cred is your re****tion (sort of)
tyvm BG

well, gotta run, later y'alls
*flurk*
what is flurk?
I always associate that word with sl4s, or women of ill re6
I was going to clue along those lines, but thought it cause some heartburn ..
but what is flurk?
See Molly's profile
oh
but
whoever said lurking didn't involve reading the chat?
it only doesn't involve chatting
so i guess if you say flurk then by definition you are a flurk yes
*comes out of lurking*
hi jmc. good to see you again
lurk (lûrk) intr.v. lurked, lurk·ing, lurks 1. To lie in wait, as in ambush. 2. To move furtively; sneak. 3. To exist unobserved or unsuspected: danger lurking around every bend. 4. To read but not contribute to the discussion in a newsgroup, chatroom, or other online forum.
hey bugs
i have been lurking. :-)
i have been so blue didn't want to talk to anyone. . . .
I flurk a lot too
I refuse to invent a new word when there is a perfectly good word already available. . .
jmc, dear, why so blue? We can talk here or you can em me...I'm here for you.
thanks. . . i knew that would be the reaction if i mentioned it here. . .
just frustrated that i haven't found a paying job. . . and my organization doesn't seem to be able to be launched the way i had hoped. . .
Of course. There is nothing I can't relate to...and I mean nothing. Feel free to talk to me. And I agree about the flurk word...just stupid.
if anything to me a flurk is a person who lurks just to drop in a couple of sentences from time to time. . . but i think people should lurk or not as they wish. . .
Thanks
I just came off 2 years of not being able to find work. But I had limitations you don't have. I've found that remaining in a state of gratitude for what I do have rather than becoming bitter and depressed about what I don't have helps tremendously...but it takes work and practice.
of course i usually argue for people chatting as it makes the chog more interesting. . .
I thought it was very brave of you to step down from your last position but you did it for the good of the group. Something will appear when the time is right. Someone called you a prophet the other day. They meant in the way that you have a vision and will do whatever is required to make it real to others. Take heart.
what? who called me that? haha reminds me of the bible verse: a prophet has no honor in his own house! haha
Fabulous feedback, Bugs.
see? I thought you might relate to that while accepting how many admirers you have. ;)
oh mimi i putter on. . . not bitter, just hard to do things when i feel i should be doing something more productive. . . there are only so many of the hours of the day that i am willing to weed. . .
jmc, I'm going to send you an em with some funny "ponderisms." Hope it lifts your spirits. And, yes, MANY of us so admire you. You won't stay down long...trust me on that.
never you mi** my silly response! it was lovely for you and whoever said it to say. . .
i have had problems with depression since i was a child and i have found that usually if i let it have its way for a day or two it will go away. . . this batch just took longer than i would have liked.
me too. I finally went to a hypnotherapist who helped more than any medication did
stats for the middle column R please
i am glad that worked for you bugs
I tend to do that as well. Sometimes I'll just let myself really get into it for a couple of days and then just decide I'm tired of it now...usually with the aid of vodka.
haha jack for me please!
re 6,24
but rumors (started by me) to the contrary i general allow my self only one night of wallowing with jack. . . otherwise it becomes cyclical
ty bugs
Good for you Bugs. Many people discount the healing that can come from alternative medicine. Which is really not "alternative" at all, it is healing the way it used to be, before pharmaceuticals.
i just finished watching a film about the beginning of the use of chemicals to heal. . . brought about the wholesale reduction in syphilis. . . .That was the first purely chemical lab cure . . .
I have been actively working at changing my mindset even to where I do not acknowledge depression, but rather that I am feeling stronger and healthier every day.
Gonna scoot for now. Will be sending you an em later, jmc. Hang in there, girlfriend. And, yes, remember when every STD could be cured with penicillin? Ah, the good old days! Hugs all around.
bye mimi. . . .
that works for me most of the time. . .along with meditation at meeting for worship (scientific evidence shows that the brain chemicals are affected by meditation. . . but some times it requires more. . . .
Oh and Tor...I don't think your word is stupid. : D
I must poof too but I used meditation daily as well. You are correct about its power
sending hugs to jmc.......... poof
bye bugs. . . thanks for the words of encouragement. . .
Meditation (which involves deep breathing/oxgenizing your body) is also very healing.
Oxygenizing is not a word...I made it up...stupid me.
Do you want to pick a fight molls? I said I did care to make up a work when there was a perfectly good word already such as lurk. . . I called no one or nothing stupid. . .
ox·y·gen·iz·ing
is a word btw
No, "you" did not call it stupid.
well then mellow out. . . people can have a difference of opinion about whether some words are stupid or not. . . lord knows there are plenty of stupid words in the grid some days. . .
stats for the first column E please. . .
Okay, referring to people as stupid is cool here, I get it now. Mellowed out.
no one said anyone was stupid they said the word was stupid. . .
em 4/6...
em4/6
ty
duh! slap me with a fish!
isn't errer one who errs? ;-)
stats for the 4th column R please
hi all - back to finish my last 35
just came back in..and lurk or flurk.I can be accused of that..if I want to chat, I chat, if not, I do not chat..flurk or lurk
hi wolvie
i think that one is to do over jmc-
hi annie. . .
ah you are right wolvie ty
re 5/14, i think...
hi jmc :):)
ty pen
:-) oh bother- doggie wants out lol- just as i sat down- back in a few
haha give me a cat any day!
nbt
hi all, I need help with the R under the pls
not sure what you mean
help with the R under the P pls.
re6/21
re 4/5....re 6/21, i think....
I am missing a 7. I have the following: in,mu,pe,rex2. what am I missing pls.
one who . . . mmmm. . .
peri, i think is is ra 6---a sword
up 7/56....
sorry re6/21 is the one who. . .
hi peri btw
hey there jmc
back- took advantage of the time and fed the kitties and doggie too- they are chomping happily
I am not seeing the up7 or anything for that R under the P even with clues
think of what a pack of paper is called...
duh, ty pen and jmc
peri, ra---its a sword, swashbuckling
sheesh, ty Annie
those words were eluding me all day
:)
i think one of the rs under the p is what a lemon juicer is also called peri. paper plus. lol
stil 52 to find. but I did take a nice nap. I am an excellent napper.
oh my chat is behind- glad you got them, lol. back to grid
I have them both, ty wolvie
ty i didn't have the sword!
good to have a skill peri! i have found napping a big help to get through the days. . . .
Now if I can only find a way to get paid for napping :)
haha! there are sleep experiments. . .don't pay much though. . .
I recently participated in a research study: Sensory Dysfunction in Early Parkinsons. where I was a control patient.
some do. jmc. I tried to get into one several years ago but was told my melatonin levels were normal and they did not accept me. I would have had to stay at least one night in the hospital which was not that appealing anyway.
nice. . . my boy has been volunteering for paid reseach guinea pig work but only for NHS since they were so helpful to us years ago. . .
Focus groups pay pretty well too but I have never seen one to do with napping.
no staying overnight in a hospital is not restful. . . defeats the purpose really
i am too smart mouthed for focus groups. . .they never want me again. . . haha
i suspect my boy would have the same problem but i will let him know. . .
but they usually pay between $50 and $100 an hour which is really good
wow that is almost what i was paid when i first became a lawyer!
some focus groups are actually groups and some are just you and the person asking questions.
*wonders if smart mouth is curable*
I do not get called for focus groups too often :(
i used to get products to try. . . but no more for some reason. . .
I think so, jmc, it is called "biting your tongue"
I applied for that type of thing too, jmc but have not heard anything.
how do you find them peri. . .
haha. . . well if it is a matter of controlling myself i am hopeless. . . i only do that in a courtroom or client situation. . . .
what? Focus Groups? just type in Focus groups and look for them in your area. I am pretty sure they have some in the Wash, D.C. area
I am going to read for a while. bbl. nice talking with you jmc.
I got to try Gladwrap Press n seal prototype. . .I liked it so much I refused to send it back. . .
bye peri. . .enjoyed talking with you too. . .
i have a poster to make. . . so i guess i will go off to do that. . .
90 left. . . *poof*

hey cos!
don't like things too spicy...had a lobster roll...
tute?
stut?
oops... sorry I didn't get my cursor in the right place. *sigh* so tired today
a tute is what a mute wears to ballet
wondering what a stut could be
LOLL cos
rofl cos
hi cos :) have some milk to wash away the fire... not water
A Stut is a cross between a sl4 and a prostitute maybe
also could be slang for how they walk :)
kate i gulped down 1/2 a gallon lol
hi stid, kate, ru and whoever is here
a stut is what you get when a person like king geroge V, can't get the remainder of the word out....
of milk cos?
stutter?
yes milk!
what the heck was on the pizza anyway? scotch bonnet peppers????
well, you could open the freezer and stick your tongue on something really frosty... guaranteed you won't feel the burn any more... you'll have other things to worry about ;)
jalapenos, pepperoni soaked in jalapeno juice, then some more juice coveringt he pizza before it bakes.. dont ask me i didnt order it
the person who ordered it.... do you owe them money ? ;)
lol nah brother in law is a cook and he brought home his own pizza and offered me some i was hungry so i said ok
i'd laugh, but i feel for ya buddy...
it was good though lol
poor george,i still want to see the kings speech
little too much jalapeno for my liking...
great movie
it's worth a watch crossy :)
very good movie!
was weird for me to see the queen mother portrayed as a loving person when she is shwon to be cold and blunt in all other portrayals
Just talked to our Scrabble friend. How about calling me so we can see if next Monday would work.
so i have heard, but untill it comes out on netflix or ends up in the 5 dollar bin at my local store,i will not be seeing it:(
okay, will do.
crossy loved the queen mim
Aw it is available for us on netflix.. darn borders
do you mean alexandra or elizabeth cos?
not here it is not.we get a homoginized version of netflix
I watched a 5 hour documentary of QEII and they said the Queen Mother was beloved during her husband's reign.
the current queen's mother, kate.
as far as i know, the queen mother was adored by all
crossy, do you have Redbox? they have it for a little over a dollar
that is elizabeth too...and she was beloved, tis true :)
in all movies about the Queen, her mother is usually seen as a bitch.. but not so in the king's speech so that was unusual for me to see is all
yes,we just got redbox in last month or 2
cool!
I love redbox. I dont know if this will work in Canada but if you join red box club (free!) you get a free rental code texted to you every monday
hi everyone, stats for the bottom row R middle column?
yep -- i get lots of redbox freebies and discounts via email
re6.. part of re4/6 but the re4 is from another R
probably because it is looking at history.. like the abdication, or the prospective marriage of margaret... she was a stickler, for sure! don't even mention wallis...
The documentary I watched spoke of Margaret and her scandal and they said that was part of why the queen was so resistant to meet CPB.. til her sister and mother died then it was easier.
i love the speech the queen mum gave during the blitz during ww2 in london.her husband would not leave,so she would not.she inspired so many that Adolf Hitler called her the most dangerous woman on the planet
it was a good documentary.. it was produced in britian.. had 5 actresses playing the queen and in between real people would sit and tell their version of the stories
very pro-monarch documentary.
ty, cos.
i htink i have seen that one cos, the beeb makes a lot of good stuff :)
hi dawg :) sorry, popping in and out, trying to cook...
one of the best doccumentaries ever made is the BBC series called World at war made in 1976
hi TK
they still run that crossy! sometimes on pbs/tvo and on history channel
it is an amazing series if you love war history, kate!!
i do :)
you can often find the entire series in the bargain bins in wal-mart for 25 dollars

Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today

ty!
Hey Minveryork! I have not been on when you have in such a long time. How has your summer been so far?
Hi Bugsaw! My summer has been busy with summer school.I have two more days left and then I can relax for a little bit
How has your summer been going Bugsaw? Nice to see you!
Are people able to come to your offer for a Babble meet on the east coast?
No, I gave up on the babble meet. Didn't seem to work out
Minver! and Bugsaw! and penquis! evening all
How sad. If it were possible I wud have been there. I have not seen NH since 1969
hi
I think Vermont was a little too far for people to travel. I'll try planning another one next summer in CT or NY maybe.
hello Miss2bit's dad.
Hello dan2bit! How are you doing today? Welcome to chog
I am well, thanks. and you?
I am just getting here? How is the grid? I need it to be easy
hi dan, min, and bugs )
You are probably right and the east coast was really slammed by the weather this winter too. I wonder how many people had to give up holidays for clean up
I got to 105 before listing
I'm well dan2bit. I have 2 more days of summer school and then I can relax. It has been tiring but actually really fun.

Evening all.
May I please have a clue for in6-24? Thanks
hi peach, 8:25
molly clued it...
Hi there, Kate. How are you?
i'm well peach, scarfing down my dinner now. how are you doing?
Thanks, pen, have it now.
Not too badly, today, Kate. I'm scarfing down my dinner too. LOL
binging and babbling, not a good combination.. especially so late at night. i don't think i've had dinner before 9 for at least a week...
didi the temperature drop down your way, it is seasonably cool here now.. quite a relief after what we had...
It did, Kate. We've had two almost rain free days but more is expected Wednesday. We haven't reached 100 degrees this summer, so far. Probably will later on though.
I've had dinner and back for 15 minutes more.
Hey there, stidgmere.
wow! you are in georgia, aren't you? we've been over 100 several times here....
Hi Gran Mere
hi stidgie :) welcome back!
Yes, I do. We usually have really hot and humid summers....so we have to rush from one air conditioned place to another. I have COPD bronchitis and it really difficult to breathe outside.
The mild winters sort of make up for the summers.
so, you "hibernate" in the summer, rather than the winter...i am glad you seem to be coping with it okay. i remembered you had some breathing problems. would love to have your winters or s. carolina's.. i could deal with that ;)
mu6, anybody?
Living in the south does have advantages (and disadvantages also). I just can't cope with the cold weather anymore.
di5-14 please.....thanks
di5 thou forget thy shakespeare?
