Hi Rose
so you're taking it easy now I presume, rose?
liz, how was the whale-watch?
Just checking what the appropriate gift is for 52. The lists stop going year to year at 50 and go in 5year increments
whale watch?
um, yes, flosey. just sitting here on the dock on the bay....lol
where do you put it on the whale where it will stay?
Slow today Rose - one whale and it didn't want to play! But we've had so many other good days, so not bothered!
yes, ruru, liz was up very early this AM to watch for whales.
round it's pectoral fin, ru
Round it's wrist, of course

hi flosey -- missed you the first time, was checking email etc
and hello dearest pugs
oh, I'm here most every night, till I reach my happy halfway point - I just don't always join in the banter. :)
flosey, have you got the fluffy slippers on?
hi rbud and pug -- never said hi to rose so hi now
*sob* jilli ignored me...waahhh
doesn't mean I don't laugh my heinie off, though, sometimes Hubs thinks I'm nuts
How is everyone?
rbud, why should my hubby be the only one.lol
hi pugs, good thanks, and you
Flosey did you get all your bread done?
pugs, had a busy day, but both leg joints stood(pardon the pun) up to it quite well.
my old man is computer non-friendly, he'll never get it, I suppose
Iam doing good
oh thats good Rose
when ruru is on, and i just laugh out loud very loudly, i keep getting strange looks, and muttered comments.
yes I did, pugs, 6 loaves and now in freezer
why are vowel words so hard to see?
Mine is too Rbud and dont even try either
pugs, it's flosey's 52nd wedding anniversary.
congrats, flosey!
thanks rbud
we had loud applause at bridge for mr and mrs flosey
himself and i won't make it thus far, but we will give it our best shot...
CONGRAT! flosey!
that was lovely, jilli
thanks pugs
hope i didn't spoil things for you flosey. i am so excited for you both....
52 years! Thats wonderful Flosey--you got big plans
we only made it to 48 :(
how might you spoil? and thanks rose
no we played bridge tonight at the club
awww, poor jilli. {{hugs}} hun.
he did make me a lovely breakfast
Hugs Jilli
but you'd still be going strong, jilli, if only
you betcha. I just wish you all could have known him -- he was fun and looking forward to being here
hey -- a little bird told me they had ice-wine for breakfast
oh, lord, himself is giving me a lecture on politics....only other thing which can shut my brain down faster is a discussion on finance.
lol-hugs Rose
lol, yes we did - and enjoyed our breakfast out on the deck
I don't do numbers either, rose, lol!
How nice Flosey
it was lovely
Flosey how did you meet your Hubby
he worked with the brother of a girl I worked with
they were french and we went to the french club
was it love at first site
really, almost - we were both seeing someone else at the time we met but there definitely was an attraction on both sides
I like love stories
flosey, that is so special, hun. i think just maybe this one is a keeper...lol
Rose what did you do to wear yourself out---or should I ask?
you bet, rose
hmmm. 3 loads of washing, but himself hung it out, folded, sorted and ironed 3 loads from saturday, then shopping and chemist for 1 1/2 hours.
wow rose, you have a keeper there yourself
i am trying so hard to get back to 'normal'.
oh you did have a busy day--But I bet you feel good too to be able to
i know, flosey. for me he is a man in a million.
had a quick email from daughter along with pics - one of her swimming in the Adriatic
yes pugs....it felt good to be able to do the basic things. tomorrow i drive the car for the first time in 3 weeks.
they went to England for a wedding, so while that far, took a side trip over to Greece
oh, nice flosey...as you do, hun, as you do.
Mine can be good at times. He likes doing the laundry(though Ive had several things come out looking like ti-ddye)lal
where you driving to?Somewhere special?
lolol, pugs...do so know what you mean, hun.
pugs, have review appointment with ortho. surgeon. re splint on right knee.
the don't get the difference between things that go with this load and other things separately
at least he hasn't made the mistake I made - as a kid, helping while mom was sick, turned everyone's undies pink
yep mine just puts a load in..no sorting and he is off limits to using the bleach! And you would die seeing his way of hanging them out. But I guess its the thought thats counts
flosey, and they don't understand, don't hang things in a clump...space the wash out so that the air can blow through easier.
70 years ago, men weren't wearing pink undies
lol...i should hope not, flosey
Rose are you going to get to dump the brace since you are doing so good
soon as our backs are turned, you start picking on the guys, lol
we don't very often hang out, usually use dryer
pugs, not until the surgeon says to do so.
hehe--Hello Joso
lol joso, not picking really, just enjoying a chuckle
oy vey....it's a joso....g'day mate
a chuckle, hrumph... at whom's expense may I ask
ah, they can take it as well as hand it out
Rose you still iron?
but now that you are here...and ruru has gone to bed....
and joso, are you always up this late?
good to see you all in any case
You didnt pick on poor Ruru did you Rose? lol
darn a tiny grid. But there are my babble friends :)
a very good morning to you all
good to see you too, joso
hi Sprite
Our Dearest Sprite to complete the gang!
I drift to late nite when not held to a schedual
hi flosey :) How are you today?
pugs, i say, if it's cheap, iron it to look nice, if it's costly, iron it because it desrves to be taken care of...having said that, i don't iron sheets, socks, pj's, and smalls
hiya pug *hug*
{{sprite}} xoxox
hi sprite
great thanks sprite, and you?
I like to iron--we had to iron everything when I was at home
pugs, i did so absolutely pick on the ruru.
hiya rose and joso! *hugs* Iron? Haz does the ironing. I don't iron at all. My family knows it: if you want to wear something that needs ironing, you are on your own. Don't buy that kind of stuff!
pug, on the other hand seems to get up earlier and earlier
I am ok. Feeling more positive today, having faith I can handle the changes.
good for you, Sprite, hang in
what did the ruru do? Did he pun you into a pitiful state?
Iam a 2=3 hour sleeper
am glad you are great, flosey :)
thanks sprite
Looks like Sprite and Rose are getting back upon the horse(so to say)
how do you get along with so little sleep, pugs
too true, pug. Even dreamt of getting on horses!
guess Iam just use to it---If I sleep more I wake with a headache
you must be so chronically tired, pug.
no not at all( or I dont think I am)
yes, changing lifestyle is hard at first sprite, if you can keeep at it the changes just become how you live, the more you practice the easier it gets
did you use to ride Sprite? I miss riding so much
I will hold on to that, joso, thanks :)
I used to as a child and young adult, pug. But I was never any good at it. My daughter rides and she has good lessons and rides pretty well.
you can get bike leasons?
*lesons
Ive rode and shown and worked ground training babies for a stable and even one year my sister and I ran a riding barn at a state park here in our state
*giggles* Yes, in the Netherlands you can. Bike is a pretty basic means of transportation here. Immigrants can learn to ride one if they want.
pug, you are in a whole other class than me... I was the child that sat on the horse while it walked its rounds, lol.
My right knee wont let me make the rotation to ride a bike---I have tried several times
here you get training wheels, which you beg youir parents to take off until they relent
yeah, we have those too. Also the dads who run with you, holding you until you go too fast.
I really miss my horses. I even got into driving too.Went on several cross country drives and rides
that is frustrating, pug. Did you hurt your knee?
just bad knees from long hours on hard floors working and riding most of my life I guess
{{hugs}} pugs, can so empathise with you, hun
a few friends and myself started a saddle club (that is still going) several years ago
what is a saddle club? Do you make saddles? Or put them on horses?
I bought me a bike and every spring I get it out thinking I can do it and the knee just wont do it
what sort of setup do you have now pug, I think you are not in a major city or town, and know you have a crek to walk along. are you on a farm?
*creek
we put on shows and had trail rides for members
perhaps you can train your knee by lying on your back and making bike movements every day?
I live in the country on about a acre and then have 13 acres on the river
or perhaps use a stationary bike. you can adjust the tension, until it is like riding a 'normal' bike.
I got one of those Rose. My knee wont take the whole rotation that is needed to peddle
my stationary bike is set on 25% tension. i will increase the tension until it is equal to a road bike.
pugs, you are female...grit your teeth, sweetie. you can do it.
well, better be careful with the knee then. If it won't do the movement, it won't. Don't force things.
when I do do it Rose the next few days the knee is so swollen that I have to use a cane to walk with
i remember getting on my bike....after my total knee....i just had to grit my teeth, and let it follow thru.
okay...cold/ice pack it post exercise, plus elevation for 15 minutes.
I will just try that Rose
good on you, hun.
swollen and unable to walk does seem like the sort of gentle hint to mind
when I have to get down on knees to clean I pay for that too
lol...i never do that, pugs.
babble dictionary: medlam - utterly chaotic compilation of songs
pugs, do you have some form of arthritis diagnosed?
when gradyn comes I like to get down and play in the dirt with him and his cars-lol
sit on your butt then, pug, and not on your knees. Sitting on knees is extremely taxing.
I recently got knee pads pug, thought they were too wussy for a long time, a godsend
not that I know of but it runs in our family. My dad, grandfather and two sisters has it and gout
sorry I disappeared without a goodnight, but it was time and I got into my jammies, so goodnight/evening/day and hi sprite but ...zzzzzz
ogood for you, joso!
pugs, i use a garden kneeler. it allows me to kneel, with knees over-hanging the 'cushion' and handles to help you to get up.
gnight Jilli
hehehe hi and bye, jilli, sleep well *hug*
g'nite jilly
I have 2 sisters that got gout while in grade school
night jilli and congrats on second place tonight
aahh, pugs. as my endocrinologist said...you have hit the jackpot. how you react to that diagnosis, is totally up to you.
Right Idea gran, I was installing a floor and shingling a roof
so true, rose. same thing I tell myself. Not the illness is central point... I am.
jilli, sweet sleep, hun
well I dont let pain stop me from doing what I want--I just know that I will pay for it for a few days
I can take quite abit of pain
falling asleep, time to get to bed, goodnight all
I think as we age we all deal with some sort of pain in our bodies
be back tomorrow for the 25 remaining
pugs, are you on glucosamine and chondritine ? it has kept my rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis at bay for over 12 years.
g'nite flossy
as Haz once said: Aging is not for the timid.
flosey, sweet dreams, hun. and again, congrats on a wonderful milestone reached.
night flosey, sleep well *hug*
Rose I dont take anything but a daily vitamin(for women 50+) and I have not been to a doctor for years
night Flosey
Iam really pretty healthy besides the hernea and the usual aches and pains that goes with aging
okay, sorry to break the news to you...but you really need to look at your pain-control regime. you need an anti-inflammatory, i.e. ibuprofen, and a general analgesic, like paracetamol.
glucosamine/chondritine is a food supplement that really makes a difference, pug. I'd give it a try if I were you. It is not expensive.
are these things found in the vitamin isle?
and pug... one of my therapists told me that it was my ability to handle really bad pain that make me go on while I needed to rest... it can work against us, alas. Also, pain steals your energy. If you can bring down the pain, you will have more energy.
yes pug. Or order it online.
Rose when my knee swells I do take over the counter pain aids
I expect my magnesium malate to arrive today, rose :D
my dad swore by glucosamine, for joint pain
your dad was wise, joso!
I have that for my dog can I take hers? LOL
he was, was also fun to vacation with
that is smart, pug. And remember to use cooling pads. My husband swears by cooling everything that swells and is hot (no puns allowed here) and he is so right, it really helps.
lol pug, yes probably. Though you will need a higher dose than a kitteh.
if the weather permits I do go to the river to soak(since I dont have a tub) and that helps a bunch
oh yes, that sounds awesome. Cooling in natural water :)
side no4: when I have me5 I want to have le5 too... and today we can't, darn it.
at 90 degrees I think I would get a straw and live in the river
I just about do that Joso--me and the dogs
god yes. Me too.
pugs, as sprite suggests. ice packs in the freezer are an absolute must.
ice packs and elevation..
I never bothered with them until I met my husband, rose. But he has convinced me.
I will have to buy me a couple to keep on hand. I just dont baby myself that much and I guess I should
yes you should, lolll. It is not babying, hun. It is taking good care of yourself. It will improve the quality of your life and help you to enjoy more the things you do.
I'm kind of like that too pug, but at some point you just have to buy the kneepads
hope i don't bore you, but please google 'pain away' cream...it contains arnica plus lots of other goodies. it , along with paracetamol osteo, was the only thing which kept me mobile until my total knee replacement.
Iam more on taking care of the others---as I think you guys are too
okay Rose
pugs, if it is too far out of your reach, please email me your postal addy. i will send you some.
Joso I got enough fat on my knees I dont need pads--lol
I will rose if you let me pay you for your trouble
*giggle* pugs...
pugs, we'll sort that out when and if it is necessary, hun.
and now i am using 'pain away' on my ankle and knee.
everyday I glance in the mirror and see a new wrinkle I swear--lol
pugs, look past the wrinkle, dear. and see the beautiful person underneath.
ah pug, ya know what i mean, I don't have much patience when someone winges at every little thing, If you don't work through things you never toughen up, but chronic pain when their is an answer, just silly
I have always since childhood have had bad ankles and feet. Iam completely flat-footed
when io look in the mirror, all i see is another hair which needs to be plucked out..lol
giggle Rose
I know Joso, you are right. Ive had to work all my like with foot pain and I have gotten so use to it I dont pay it no mind
speaking for myself I look pretty fine ;-)
hi friends how many today pls\
well...it's not a pretty sight...sitting there enjoying a capuccino...with frothy milk caught in your moustache..
lifenot like
82, pink
hi pink, only 82
Hi Ya Pink
hi pink
thanks much granny and sprite
greetings pug and all
{{sprite}} you still here? xoxox
geez thought I was doing good at 48 just do not see them tonite
gotta refresh my cup brb
ok, climbing on the crate: there is a difference between pampering yourself and taking care of yourself. Of course we need to be able to do stuff in spite of pain. But we also need to research the ways in which we can help ourselves function better and easier. Ok, stepping down, you may carry on.
hi pink, yvw
it is a tricky one today, pink. The smaller ones often are.
I see this
lolol...sprite. * gives sprite a helping hand down*
mala
sorry all
hehehe... I had to say it... hard-learned lesson in my own life :D
nope, not a word, pink
don't worry, pink, it happens to us all. The layout of the site isn't very intuitve.
ty guess I best go 315 am here and work tom
have a good one, pink
sprite I thin u were here when I was amember back in 07
must have been, pink. I am regular, so to say, since 2004
i recalled you
pink, hope you have a good day
bye now
I hope in a positive way, lol
bye for now!
*giggle* sprite is regular without senna...
I should have typed ' a regular', lol
lolol, sprite
:D
rose, I also bought some seeds and stuff that I need to make a healthy bread. Am gonna try that and see if I eat a slice each morning. Or lunch.
back and ready to carry on
yayyy wb pug :)
is it a wheat bread Sprite
no, it doesn't use any kind of grain. It is a bread that has only good stuff in it. It is from the Gabriel Method.
did they give you a list of foods for you Sprite
yes they did, pug, but they also told me that nowadays the idea is to eat as healthy as possible. Not like in the old days when you were prohibited to eat ugh kinds of food.
I have a handy list... it has for each food group a green list (food you can eat every day), a yellow list (stuff you can eat as a compromis) and a red list (things to eat never or very rarely).
Just changing to a healthier diet will do wonders
exactly, that is what they say here as well. Regular eating, healthy food, lots of exercise.
we are from an era where food was given as award for this and that
for now I wouldnt even worry about losing wieght cause that will come as you change your diet
and for me fried foods were a common intake at home
I have a serious eating disorder, pug. My father used to beat the food into me. I wasn't allowed sweets. My whole experience with food was a mess when I left home at 16 and I never got it right. Having my family and Rob who cooks dinner has saved my life, I think.
ahh Sprite hugs--how awful--what was his purpose on doing that
who knows, sigh. Speeding things up, having control... he has narcissistic personality disorder.
different value of food after living in nazi occupied lands?
anyway, not to complain, just wanted to share... I have a lot to learn and unlearn when it comes to food. That clinic is gonna have its work cut out for us, lol.
joso: yeah that is probably part of it as well.
for the most part it's pretty simple, lots of veg, some lean meat or fish, some fruit, a little bread or rice, avoid fat, oil, sugar
if you guys want the recipe of the health bread, let me know and I will translate it.
thanks joso :) Yeah I know it is kind of simple. But not with an eating disorder. Will get there, though. In a year time, things will have improved a lot.
I understand, the eating disorder will affect things in ways I don't understand
yeah it complicates things. But in the end I still will have to make the adjustments. And I have enlisted help to get there.
more power to you sprite
thank you :) I can't fail with so much support from my babble friends.
sorry dearest friends. phone call from himself's bestest buddy, inviting him on a motor-cycle ride next weekend. such a giggle. i am so happy to let him go.
how lovely, rose. So nice for him. Can you manage with yourself and mother mac without him?
and sprite?? you have my undivided support. and he doesn't leave until 9:15am.
am lucky to have you and pug and joso! Ah good, so he can help before he leaves. Will do him good to be away for a weekend.
sorry guys the computer is being a brat
how so pug?
*throws a stern look towards pug's pc*
well I downloaded that site you told me and it knocked me off of here and I had to restart
it wont let me remove it either
then my anti viris came up saying it wasent working
which site is that?
which site is that? Flickr?
no the babble pro
ah, babble expert, ok hold on
or what ever the link was on your profile Joso
yes
ah ok
I loaded it but dont know how to use it
are you running windows pug?
Iam going to work on the picture thing today Sprite
yes Joso I got windows 98-2000 xp
great, pug :) Let me know if you need help.
my computer is old
okay Sprite I will--thanks
I was having trouble with this thing shutting down(the tower only) took it to the shop 4 times--changed all the cords and it still done it.Then a friend came and took it out and blowed it all out and it worked fine for several months and so when ever it shuts down thats what I do and it works fine for awhile
ok, this is a bit complicated because your puter is older, thank god we don't age as fast as computers
that means it shuts down because it gets too hot, pug. As long as you keep all ventilators clean, it will cool the puter and all is fine.
I have fans blowing in here but as hot as it is I can see that. But the shop charged me everytime and did nothing
the file you downloaded is zipped, zipped means condensed to make downloading shorter. newer windows can unzip files but older windows require a seperate zip/unzip program
yeah. Google for 7zip. Freeware and it unpacks everything.
maybe you can help me on this--I have a anti-viris that the shop put on my computer--when I went off the land line they said I have a anti viris that comes with the high speed--should I take the old one off
at http://www.7-zip.org/ you can get a good one, the very first download is the one you want.
hehehe, joso and I agree on the unzip program 100%.
okay joso
not sure, pug. What are you using for antivirus?
tell me when you have downloaded it pug
I have tried getting google chrome but I cant on this computer and when I go to facebook sometimes not always it comes up I have low visial memories--what is that
fireflies... and real life calls me to duty, alas. *hugs* to you all, my friends. Thanks for being there. Whenever I count my blessings, you are among them.
the zip program will work, very simple and low graphics need
right now I got something the shop put in from windows(they had another but it shut my computer down and they had to replace it with this one)
I think its windows security
ok Joso I will--
ah, you should get another, let me look arround brb
WTG, SPRITE!!!
Bye Sprite--w2g though I hate to see you go--have a good day
XOXOX, sprite....
g'nite sprite
And you too Rose--I know you got fireworks 10 secs. after you started --hugs to both of you
sorry pug, having trouble finding an antivirus for a 98 machine
I guess I need to look for a newer model--dont I
not if your machine does what you want it to do
these computers (like you say age fast) I dont know what to go looking for
this and facebook is about all I do and now and then look up imfo
I do know I like the xp but I read that they are going to do away with it--is this true
the cheapest on sale computer will be much better than what you have, I'd just pay attention to screen size if i where you
98, to xp, to vista, to windows 8, to windows 9, is where they are now pug
do you know how these all built in the monitors are
sure, they are fine
this is the only computer Ive had and it was given to me
so, I,ve never had a horse, we all have our strenghts
I probally could have boughten a new on for the times this has been in the shop-lol
now you can get a comp for 200$
the tower is all I really need isnt it
Get a laptop or notebook Puglet you won't know yourself
Hi Joso and Puglet
If you keep running into things you can't do because of your machine them maybe it is time to get a new one.
I bought my screen off the computer(it was a refer.)
Hi Lyn
are the ones Walmart sale good
if you are happy with your screen the yes, tower is all you need, make sure new tower can plug into old screen
Just ensure they have a decent warranty Puglet
yes pug, any computer will be head and shoulders above what you have
I know from friends that some dont have enough memories or whatever when you buy from stores like that
lol Joso--are you saying Iam in the stoneage here
Won't be an issue with the new models Puglet
thanks Lyn and Joso--I will put that on my x-mas list
depends what you want to do, are you going to run action computer games, edit movies?
Puglet - can I suggest you find a person in their 20s who is into computers and ask that they help you pick out the best one for you
That's what I did when I bought my latest laptop this year
Joso what action games are you replying to--you know Iam limited here
I will take that advice Lyn--ty
the fast kill a bunch of zombies type of thing
I play some bubble games on facebook--is that action?
well heck no--I dont even like zoombie movies
race car driving, combat pilot
The games my kids play! they wouldn't touch Babble
no-no and no Joso--word games and bubble games(some games my computer wont let me play)
my kids - and Joso apparently
I didn't think so, I think your needs are fairly simple, so the cheapest new box you can find
I still have gameboy and ps1 and Iam not good on either of them-lol
no, never got into the twitch games
I use to be good with pac-man on atri--I think thats out of date now a days
though i do like a good strategy game
morning all, another sunny day :)
twitch games, games where you need the reaction time of a coked up teen
I see these sims games and I would like to do them but dont know how
Hi anita
hi Anita
sims?
malade
like sims, simcity, etc
Joso Ive been meaning to ask you what this game is as on your Icon
friends want me to play this farmville on facebook but I cant due to my computer
its a computer game that would run well on your machine, nurse a civilization through the ages from basic village to world dominating power
is it like a building game as these sims?
all the facebook games will run on any new box pug
but just mine-right?
sounds like a time sucking game
a bit like sim city, but handling many cities
it is a big time suck
my sister bought me a farm game but it drags so much I just put it away until I get a better computer
it says it will work in mine and it does to some degree
I did belong to pogo but it got so they wanted you to pay a seperate fee for the better games which I think unfair when you pay 50 a year
computer processing power and memory get twice as fast and big for the same price every 18 months. you are running a 98 box, if you buy last years comp on sale it should have a processor 1000 times faster and 1000 times as much memory.
I most certainly will be shopping around for something newer
I do now think alot of the trouble Iam having is due to the age of this one
if you get the stats on something that looks good I will be happy to tell you what it means
okay Joso and thank you
I only got 18 words cause Ive been talking so much-lol
lol
You should wait for sale time too Puglet - you would probably save lots of $$s. You have Black Friday in the States don't you?
yes and after x-mas there are many big sales
thats a great Ideal Lyn--tyvm
good morning (almot afternoon)
crossy is also a good source, more up to date than I, but at this stage i don't think you need anything special, anything more current will do well for you
Hi Mrs Rubyfoo
I saved $200 on a $700 package here by doing it during the sales here. For software and laptop.
Hi Ruby
its 6am here
hi ruby
hello, just looked over the chog and I used to love the first simcity but don't like the later ones, too complicated for me
Is there any way of finding an old one?
oh that was a great deal of saving Lyn
tiny grid :(
I would like to try one whenever I get a computer that will let me play one
too old and it will not run on a new machine
I dont even buy games any more due to the fact when I do they just run so slow and choppy I dont bother
have red boxes of doom
aaah, gone
anyway my carriage is threatening to become pumpkin, time for bed
h and bye joso
bye Joso, don't forget your glass slippers
night Joso
had red boxes
Isn't this just the new hiccup time?
I dont know I had red boxes earlier too
Lyn do you live near Rose
is the game on Chicago time? so 7 hours earlier than I
Yes - probably about 20-30 miles away
Have you two met
what game Ruby
No, not yet
oh boy, that is nice for you. Australia is so big
simcity, the first one
no,no, I meant is babbler on Chicago time?
I dont know Ruby
and I can't remember Ruby
I got 6:09 my time and babble has 5:09
so that's it, pugs
Have you been to Australia Ruby
where does babble come from? do you know?
no, and it's surely too late for me....
Babble - owned by DrGod - is American
at the bottom I have a list of sites are these all to do with babble
Not officially - usually just other Babble players who have written programs or something to do with Babble
like angelsongs babble and babble anony
Angelsong / Montreal / Lickety - are all other players.
I've never seen montreal
ahh thanks Lyn
Babble Anon is another chat site where some people write things (predated Facebook as I remember)
are they help sites like Lickety's
Montreal is another gorgeous Canadian guy - plays every day but doesn't chat much anymore
I just picked an enormous bouquet of goldenrod
for the living room
Nothing is like Lickety! PS Lickety is a gorgeous Australian guy
do they grow wild there Ruby
the flowers aren't impressive, but the scale of the arrangement works in the room
nothing like fresh flowers in the house
how lovely Ruby
they grow in a damp, hidden corner of the bottom garden
husband always buys roses at the market on Wednesdays, but these are nice because they're so tall
I love the spring when my lilacs are out-they smell so good
I guess they're weeds, but so what
sometimes the humblest shrubs/branches and even weeds make the best arrangements
alot of weeds has pretty flowers Ruby
I have one small lilac, but it has only flowered for 2 years and you can't see it from the house
when he buys roses, I always cut branches of "whatever" to make the bouquet prettier
even my herbs have flowers that I plant just for that
that's a good idea, pug
I got 6 lilac trees cause I love them so-lol
I quite often cut a bunch of mixed herbs for an arrangement - looks good and smells great
wow! Are they different colors, pug?
five of the trees are close enough I get the odor through out the house with the right breeze
no all purple Ruby
for cutting, I have hydrangeas on the sifde of the house, so for about a month I have enough hydrangeas for me and for my friends. Otherwise, I don't cut roses or peones for the house
It must smell heavenly, pugs!
I even like chives as a fill in--and my bee balms has the prettiest flowers that draw hummingbirds and butterflies
it surely does Ruby
I have chives on the deck and they're very pretty when they flower, like the alliums
I have 2 butterfly bushes that has a simular smell as the lilacs
there was one butterfly bush here when we bought the house but my husband set it on fire (by accident, of course) and it had babnies alll over the garden
Ive never tried alliums Ruby--but I like onions too--they have a nice flower
Do you get big butterflies, pug? I only get small white ones and frittilaries (sp?)
I bet thats pretty with them all over
I started with 5 allium and now have about 30
once in a while but mostly small ones too Ruby
and have had 2 hawk moths
I will have to try some
do you have to plant the allium every year Ruby
They're almost as big as hummingbirds and feed in the daytime so they're easy to identify. The little ones are impossible
no, just once, and it spread by itself if it's happy
do you have the ruby-throated hummingbird like me,Ruby?
do you buy the seeds or bulbs
supposedly there arehummingbirds here, but I've never seen one in 15 years
I think the allium were little bulbs like tiny onions
we have several here during the summer months
okay I will look for them
we got a pair of beautiful bluebirds that started nesting here 2 years ago. They raise 2 litters each year.
It's been interesting Learning the French birds. I keep a guide by the window near the feeder and have identified about 20, all different but similar to the American ones, for example, green finches
I've nly seen bluebirds when I lived in NY state.
That is lovely, that you get to see the babies every year
Ive never seen green finches--bet they are pretty
I use to feed the yellow ones here but the seeds for them are so high for just a small bag
they have mauve beaks which I know because I frequently find dead ones
my husband buys about 12 lns of sunflower seeds a week, ut if it keeps him happy, it's Worth it
we got about 20 bird boxes up and they just came and took up in one and every year they come bck
lbs*
How big is your property, pug?
It must be big to have so many lilacs and so many bird boxes
I live on a acre and then have 12 acres on the river
it must be beautiful! Is it hilly?
the river is in walking distance
little hills nothing real big
what river is it, maybe I can find it in GoogleEarth
little flat rock
I'll look for it later
my dogs all love the river and love to swim and try to fish
chows don't swim :( and Max (the black one) drowned in our fishpond
they see the fish and crawfish and pounces trying to catch them(so far no one has)lol
I never told husband as the goldfish are another of his hobbies and he would have felt terrible
oh how awful Ruby
is it due to their thick fur? Ruby
he was autistic (not husband) and we thought he had found a hole in the fence but two weeks later the handyman found him in the pond nd we quietly buried him
do you live out in the couontry too
country--sorry
I don't know but Max used to drink from the pond every night so maybe he ha a seizure or heart attack and fell in like that
well he could had
yes, the village has about 12,000 people but we live outsifde the village and there's a big open space above our house whick leads to the cliffs
do you have GoogleEarth? If yes, look up Veyrier du Lac
I bet its just beautiful
I dont but I will try to get it
it is and the lake is below us
it's free and easy to use, but my son installed it for me, so I don't know how he did it
half and it's time to lie down
how much land do you have
Lovely to "talk" with you, little pug. Give Beulah a hug for me!
okay Ruby have enjoyed your company as always--good night
I will
I'm not sure but I think it'sa little less than an acre. We're on a hillside, sos the garden is on several levels as is the house
{{little pug}} *woof*

Hi folksie, back after a week of grand kids visiting. I need the solace of Babble. am worn out
welcome back ((bichon))
ty annie
Im sure the pooches were glad to see you
They were home with us. Grands came here from CA. But the fluffs were so stressed by the little ones I had to send them to my daughter's house
I thought you went to CA. Poor pooches. Now you have the house to yourself and you can recover.
Last night we both agreed that it was so nice with just the two of us and the little laddies
I am always happy to get home even though I love my daughter and grands very much. At my age, I like my comfort.
Amen Annie.
We are going up to CT this weekend.
It's nice and green. We went camping in Watertown Sat. night and it was in the low 50's when we woke up
brrrr
I think we all enjoy the comfort of home, no matter how old we are. : )
The CA folks were in shock. They didn't bring a sweatshirt.
Hi Molly.
My d.i.l. said they flew home to SF over Yosemite and they could see the huge fire
hello Molly
Hi Annie and Bich. Bich, that must have been a scary sight.
I cannot imaginesuch a huge fire. They said on TV the area of the fire was as large as Hartford, DT
CT
It is threatening the water supply and power grid of SF

Une, A dog fighting ring was broken up. I couldn;t look at the TV or listen. I was so upset I turned it off. Did you hear about it?
what is giving you heartburn, steve?
Maalox
its in the grid
saw it for 2 seconds as i was channel surfing -- did NOT watch . . . I try not to think about how common this is in the south :-(
LOL, I thought it was me with the proper nouns. Maalox is a terrific find.
indeed -- kudos, steve LOL
gotta run deliver donated food -- BBL! *poof*
Une, I cannot understand how you can abuse an animal. I hope they all get shot with their own guns.
I think it says something but I dont know what when its easier to find proper nouns than actual words
bye Une, dear heart
(when i asked a longtime rescuer in Lewisburg TN about it, in answer to my question re what's the appeal in dogfighting, she said BIG MONEY
ok, now I'm poofing :-)
It usually is money, no matter what..bye Une
I think it takes a very heartless person to get into something like that to make money.
hello Molly
My proper noun of the day is football sportscaster John, king of the goofy comments.
But it's a real word, so sssshhh

I have an old poster of Alan Ladd advertising The Blue Dahlia with Veronica Lake and William Bendix.
That goes back a ways.

Good morning, peeps!

yw kj
yay, finally found a 7
is it a normal word kj?
though... this thing has really slowed now
not an every day word, flos
ox7/56 - chemical
no... not a chemical, though sounds like one
Good day to all. Hey, kje, seeing lots of smoke from the fires?
apparently it means a word with the stress on the last syllable
thanks kj, working on it
no, haven't seen smoke
News has mentioned a threat to your drinking water supply.
ends in word for sound, flos
ah, yes, that may be, scrab... we get water up from near yosemite... guess I need to stock up
got it, thanks kj
My monkey finally got that word. TY, kje.
yw
ty kj. needed that one
yw
crossy loves the aussies:)) sadly in Canada we also waste votes:/ http://tinyurl.com/kzoukwo
good morning everyone
18 left and need a break - bbiab
Hi crossy.
howdy,scwabby
Funny cartoon! Ken theVoting Dingo
and dennis the election koala
Very creative and satirical info-cartoon
i believe they have mandatory voting.something we should all consider, because if you truly wish not to vote, you can just spoil your ballot.many do not realize the power of their vote
Voting is a right and a privilege that should not be squandered.
But there are SO many "low-information" folks in the world.
yes.here we average around 60% turnout and that is sad
anyways.how is the grid today?
I am stuck after finding 34.
scrabs, do bunnies like hostas??
mine seem to have graduated from dandelions to hostas :-(
I don't have wild bunnies here--too many predators. The deer mow down my hostas.
when we lived further north we had to plant a deer garden and fence off our own
don't have deer -- lots in the area but not in my neighborhood . . . hmmm
same on blue mountain
We have lots of deer and they are not very afraid of us.
we used to give them a full plot of nice leafy romaine lettuce with a salt lick or 2
and our own garden would look like alcatraz
so much construction -- fewer wild animals -- but in wooded areas still remaining, they're around -- and all along the interstate . .
the deer eat the see out of my bird feeders
we invade nature, mow it down, they when the animals have no place left to go,we complain..us humans are a sad lot
Yes, our deer eat seeds under feeders and stand to eat from feeders
Humans are selfish
OMG one morning one of my mom's caregivers saw a big buck munching on seedand suet on the patio --maybe 5 ft from the door! :-)
Have bear on my back deck yesterday in Georgia
had bear
wow, steve!
eating the bird feeders!
Wow!
back in a mo . . .
38 to go and I am stuck. I might be back later. I work from 4-8:30 today.
fireworks!
Good morning all and WooT WooT WooT steve!!
Well, nbt, nbs and 38 left....bbl *poof*
In to WooT and go ~ WHOOSH~

hi crossy!
evil little grid with a mouth full of tiny sharp teeth:(
first time through is not bad.... now heading back to catch the "toughie stragglers" :-)
my first run through only netted 27
I see that maalox is not a word - saved me from many a tummyache when I was younger :-)
well, nbt wasn't too bad
:-)
the om 6/21 made me hungry....going to make some breakfast... :-)

ty!
we had one storm on the weekend and now it feels like autumn
boo hisss, I loved our short hot summer
yes, starting to feel like fall here, too....
figs. plums and apples won't ripen and the green tomatoes may stay green.....
ah...our last few weeks have been gorgeous here....very nice today, too
it was perfect here and then we had much-needed rain but then, whoosh and it's chilly
75 right now...
hello ruby - around here they use the green tomatoes for fried green tomatoes or green tomato pickles
less than 60
bummer
low 70s here, grey and rainy
sunny here
hello teach. That's a good idea, will have to Google recipes
years ago, I made green tomato chutney but I have no idea now
stepping out of here for a while...bbl...
bye pq
ooh, just found a yummy ta6!
hi ruby, teach
hello bichon
hello bichon
Had to send M&P to my daughter's house when the grand kids from CA visited. They were so stressed out
i will probably be abl to make some green tomato relish this year... walter 11 has a bumper crop pf tomatoes and cukes this year.. also peppers and squash and he is even growing piotatoes.. i have my lettuce and herbs and we are being blessed with a wonderful crop this year
that's funny bichon, our chows aren't crazy about kids either
Hi sammy. something has been eating my tomato stalks
slugs?
It wasn't that the kids were bad to them. They just kept trying to walk them by tugging on their leashes
No, too thick for slugs
is it deer bichon? we have them but i strung up some shiny floaty things on string and that sems to distract them
phantom ukelele
old cd's work for that, too
helps when puppies grow up in the house with the kids - grands have a dog and my boys grew up with the dog -
I think it may be deer. We have lots of them around. Haven't seen any woodchucks
My dogs are neurotic. They were strays and I don't know anything about the first year of their lives
deer like hostas -- a lot.
baby girl was spayed and the vet expected me to take the stitches out. NOT. She came and did it yesterday and it took both of us to hold onto this very strong pup
hello seain
ah, refresh was needed. Hey, yall!
hi, ruby .
She expected to to take the stiches out of a dog. Sheesh!
hi seain
years ago we had tomatoe worms....... giant light green caterpillars that ate our tomatoes
hi, bichon.
happily, she comes to the house
Yes, I had them. These tomato plants are volunteers growing out of my compost
That must be a French thing ruby. Certainly not here
we are Lucky and the day of the surgery, she picked Raffie up on her way to the clinic and brought her home. We are halfway between the clinique and her house
"volunteers" is a great word for that. We have loosestrife "volunteers" growing in the fishpond
I love how Ruby wanders from English to French...clinic...clinique...: D
Loosestrife is bad news. It clogs ponds around here
i Molly
Hi that is

I am all alone at our house in Maine and it's so nice and quiet
Well, I refrained from entering singing 'One is a lonely number'...
All alone at a house in Maine, that sounds like Heaven to me.

"I think we're alone now..."
Hello Neil! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid.
thnx Min, that must be the only combination I didn't try.
Hi Min. I'm well thanks... and you?
Neil, did you ever play letterblox game?It will no longer be available after Sept 30th.I am so disappointed! about that!
Not anymore Min, because it hasn't worked for some time and OMGPOP is closing at the end of next month. But I play other online boggle games.
heen
Mostly on WordTwist and Weboggle.
Oh and sometimes Yahoo too.
I am well, besides the fact that I'll no longer be able to play Letterblox. It's not as bad as Babble becoming unavailable.
Well Letterblox isn't available now... and hasn't been for oh, at least a few months anyway. Not working.
Oh it's worse for me, because I played a lot of the games on that site.
But I game on Steam Community and other sites too.
Actually,Letterblox works again. I have been playing again
Oh wow, so it does! And I was on there earlier and just assumed it wouldn't because no one's been fixing anything on that site in a long time! Thanks for telling me. :)
I would make an attempt every single day and then VOILA! It worked one day!
Wow. I gave up even checking it, because I'm friends with the former crew and was told Zynga didn't even know how to fix anything on that site. No idea if one of the crew actually did it or not... gotta ask now! Interesting.
Min!!!!! I got the job!!!!!! :-D
hey all
Hello stidmama! CONGRATULATIONS! Good for you! I wish I could do carleekats cartwheels! I am soooo happy for you!

*wanders back in*

Oh yes! Now that you pointed that out I do notice gapeach
Hi jesdraggon! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid.
gapeach and I just recieved fireworks together jesdraggon
hurrah for both of you!
I have a serious staffing problem. Who here needs a job and wants to move to the middle of nowhere?
hey jes! :-)
But for the middle of nowhere, it's a lovely place... if you like endless fields of grasses and rocks!
NO! we have trees and mountains and rivers and weather
we are not the palouse....
hold on a second...
east of Wenatchee and North of Kennewick is about as close to desert as I will EVER drive through...
you must keep going north until you hit trees!
but at least it's not Cheney...
heheh. indeed. i did my time south of here, and much prefer the trees
well, okay, you have a few shrubs (from a person who lives where the average tree is almost 200 ft tall)
What?! shrubs? *indignant sputter*
*wicked mama grin*
I owe you choclit chip cookies now...
AND... one of the things I lost in the fire was that lovely scarf you made. Are you still marketing those?
wow! how did that happen? past halfway and down to 38 already!
I will send you pictures of our trees, you doubtful thing you.
I haven't been doing any crocheting lately, but I could whip you up another... what colors/type of yarn/width and length do you want? fringe or no fringe?
Love pics of trees.
Also pics of flowers...
Does piggy like her new home?
As far as I know; I haven't actually heard back from them
did email work?
hold on, I will check.
YES!! I see green things! :-D
many trees, no wheat fields
And you really have to come visit me next summer... by then I will have some actual pretty things in my garden again. And we can take the canoe out on the water and look at the view there...
So, here's the difficulty. I can COUNT the trees in your pictures... *grin*
you need to send me a new doctor so I have time to travel :P
roflmao on our side it's hopeless to tally trees
well, I wished myself a job, maybe I can wish you an employee?
You can only count the trees in the clearing where I was standing, brat. Look at the hill and count THOSE trees.
who are you calling a brat? MOOOOOOOOM!!!!!
And yes, I see entire green hills. You are farther north than I realized!
It's raining here.... (again)
oh, c'mon, you gotta be able to handle a little 'brat' level language if you're teaching remedial reading :D
do you have lodgepole and ponderosa pine? Or are those farther to the east? I love pines, and they don't do so well over here.
I can handle a lot worse than "brat" to be honest... and when not in school dish it out, too! LOL but not in my classroom *stern teacher look* we will be polite and appropriate!
feels nice to say "my classroom" and mean it...
I used to be able to say that, but with my new placement, I lost my classroom. Now I have to share a room with others.
we have both, and fir, and tamarack
cedar too, and sporadic deciduous stands (aspen, birch)
Tamarack won't grow here at all, too wet. Aspen are rare in the lowlands at least.
Actually, I might be sharing a room, since I am part-time.
But when I am in the room, it WILL be mine! :-D
well then, ms. language arts teacher, you should know that 'brat' is russian for brother. :D
really? didn't know that!
hm. I will have to try that out on my friend from Russia...
it's pronounced a bit different, more like bratwurst, but spelled the same
He's pretty close to "brat" status anyway. *wicked friend grin*
What do you teach in language arts, anyway?
English, jes -- reading, writing, communications (spoken word). Literature. Poetry.
I also fit in a little bit about visual arts as well -- anything that communicates emotion or meaning is fair game as far as I am concerned!
Were U looking for something part-time?Or are you hoping that this turns into full-time maybe next year stidmama?
I actually wanted part-time work this year, because of the house construction and it being Grant's last year in high school. So I was not actively applying to jobs that were full-time since the end of June. I would have been content to substitute until the house was done and then seek replacement full-time status until the end of the year. NEXT year I hope to get a full-time, continuing position.
This position is only for this year, but I think if I do well I will put me where I can get a permanent full-time slot.
Glad you got what U wanted. This is definitely a good start
I hope so, Min -- I wish things were more settled for you, though!
you're never gonna come be my receptionist... :D
probably not, jes... unless I don't get a position for the following year, in which case I shall muck out kennels to pay for room and board.
although, I would love to see your area of the state. Truthfully I haven't been over there in about 30 years.
Thank you! It will definitely be an adjustment for me, but I will adjust. This is the third time where I have had to adjust to a new school, so I can do it again.
you're welcome to come visit any time. You can compare the foundation of our house to yours :)
though we got told today no construction lo4 :(
that stinks!!!! *indignant mama look*
I guess practice makes perfect, Min? At least you get to sample a lot of different schools, so you are learning how to get along with a wide variety of people and conditions.
Grant just called for a ride home from band practice. Back soon. *poof*
too much land, apparently. So Bruce will call planning dept tomorrow to see if we can do some paperwork magic to make the bank think we only have 20 acres instead of 30.
bye, stid, have fun :)
Goodbye stidmama! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log
I am going to following stidmama out the door.Goodnight!
sleep sweet, minver

yay stid!
okay, time to go try to calm down enough to sleep. Do I wear jeans tomorrow for the training, or a skirt? All my "teaching pants" are in the storage locker -- was going to pull them out this coming weekend! LOL
how formal is the training?
and how hot is it over there? I'd go skirt here, because I don't like heat strokes
and shorts would probably be inappropriate even for a fairly casual training.
I don't own shorts, fortunately! I think I will wear a skirt tomorrow, and judge what the other teachers are wearing, just in case. I suspect jeans would be fine for Thursday.
hi stid, you can't go wrong with a skirt - jeans might be questionable
