* smiling at you* that is a very good start
what a sweet smile! "wave back"
as usual, just starting work -- will be in and out all night
awww, thanx
you a night-shift worker then? where abouts?
yw just a reminder that I'm not able to be as polite and coherent as the regular chogfolk since I have to duck out fast when I have a call.
to answer your question -- I am a volunteer and volunteer-trainer for a crisis line covering several N.Cal counties - includes national HIV/AIDS line. They all go 24/7.
well done you, jwr. i am proud to have met you. it would not be something i could do.
ah, almost everyone on the lines said that before they started (not about me, about not being able, of course) -- and you do have to have a reason to be there in the first place (mine was having been an AIDS-care nurse specialist)
but as most of the chogfolk know, we can handle (i.e. get used to) just about anything. Even battle becomes routine to the warrior.
ty for the kind words. I do read/lurk/glance over regularly and keep up with the thorns and roses of your lives.
oh...i'm a recovery room nurse, work in the private sector
Grand for granny.
and trust me, i would not be able to do what you are doping. i have too much empathy...can't even handle kids when they come thru. it tears me to pieces when they cry.
*doing* lol
The best clinically trained nurses I ever worked with were English. ... Yes you would. It isn't a matter of empathy; it's a matter of knowing how to stop the crying, start communicating their fear and anger and frustration, etc. -- the venting is the big part -- then focusing them on emotional support. You don't think about your own feelings at the time.
jwr....you seem like a legend in my books...have been a volunteer/paid worker for kids in crisis....very heart rendering at times.
hey ya diz, how you doing with the grid? so you understand what i am so clumsily trying to say.
then all of us know that kids are the hardest to work with. It's because they don't really believe their is a tomorrow. Only a now and a here.
off I go - thanks diz and rose for the kind words. A kiss on the cheek
hope you have an easy night, jwr
nightie nite JWR xoxo. Rose, I worked in a boys 'respite home' for 5 yrs and we had some terrible cases come thro. I was upset/cried so much at some of the cases we had that I left before I went completely overboard.....but still volunteered for awhile.
you are amazing, diz...
Hi all :)
LOL I remember once when welfare bought these 3 kiddos in @ 8:30 one night....we only, usually, had boys from 5 upwards. We had to literally cut the nappy off the bubs (around 18 mths) and the elder 2 were as bad....we burnt all their clothes...when welfare came the next morning to pick them up, we got a slap on the wrist for 'burning the evidence'....luckily they had enough evidence in the boot of their car on what their bedding etc was like.
that was 30 odd yrs ago...not like today when Dept of Family Services either ignore complaints or go the other way and go 'overboard' on a childs whim/complaint against Mummy.
Hi Liz!!
Hi Diz - I've got huge admiration for anyone who can do the sort of work described by you, JWR and Rose.
hi liz
Liz....hard work and very draining, but when something goes the right way....exhilarating!!
Hi Rose
I have a slight understanding because of teaching - when you finally help a kid to understand something it's very rewarding but still doesn't really compare!
BBL
yes it does, Liz. Our g/son is ODHD OCC (alphabet bugger as my mum calls him) he is in yr 4 and has a very good teacher who manages to calm him down when needed. G/son is allowed to take his MP3 player to school, hands it to his teacher....but if he is starting to get frustrated or annoyed, or feels a temper; coming on, he can sit in the corner reading a book and listen to music...might only take him 5 minutes, but better than a full on dreaded tantrum
What a fantastic teacher :)
need to go, dinner nearly ready. catch you all at the flip. xoxoxox
Bon Appetit Rose. Enjoy the evening
Good morning. How many words are there today?
good morning

Hi ruby
ty
{{lizlin}}
how are you? Is it spring there? We are just starting our grey, rainy autumn
Beautiful spring here. It's been pretty warm and we're doing lots of beach walks. Sorry about your weather. Do you get the lovely colours of autumn?
Did Burt enjoy his birthday last week?
the colors are very uted here, not like in the US, no msaples or sumac in the wood above us, so it's just green, yellow and brown
I think he did; I did my best to make it happy
There's some lovely blossom on the trees now but otherwise we don't get too much colour here.
I'm sure you made it a great say for him.
Day!
what color blossoms? Do you have ca6's there?
Lots of purple and some yellow and red.
Don't think I've found the ca6 yet!
Spring is usually beautiful here, but it passed us by this year
lke a croc, not a flower
I loved seeing all the flowers in Victoria this summer.
We have crocs in Queensland but not really here though there are a few that they think that people have released into the rivers.
And yes, I have that word!
that's like the urban legend of alligators in the NYC sewer system
Very similar except this isn't myth!
How cute they are as babies. In Florida, they have a huge problem now with Burmese pythons, also cute when small, but they've eaten most of the Everglades wildlife (including deer and alligators) since their release
They grow to more than 20 feet! I'm not FRAID OF SNAKES BUT THOSE COULD EAT ME!
I hate snakes. In 5 years I think we've had 3 in our garden but not venomous.
1 python and 2 tree snakes.
Many houses here have carpet pythons in the roof.
How big?
In the roof or our garden?
I really love reptiles, only afraid of vipers (easily identifiable but I've never seen one), not afraind of the very big coulouvres (never seen one)
My hubby got rid of them - they don't like a hose being turned on them!
Our wildlife is much less colorful and interesting than yours
what is scary where you are, is how many thinks are venomous
I don't mind other reptiles. I love the water dragons.
We have beautiful, multi-colored spiders and I love them outside, but not in the house
is that a kind of lizard?
True but I've not come across anything venomous but then I don't walk in long grass!
Yes it is.
How big?
I don't mind spiders outside. I wasn't too keen on the huntsman I saw in our apartment on my first ever day in Aus. Size of a mans fist!
When I walk the dogs in the field above us, I make a lot of noise with my feet.
Up to half a metre I guess.
wow
That's a good idea. How are the dogs?
The huntsman was in the house?????
Some are really small though.
Rufie is a prince among dogs and Raffie is a moose among girls, He's about 80 lbs and sweet and beautiful. She's about 45 lbs. and is a bit of a "putain"
Yes! Hubby used a broom to put it outside. I Wes pretty freaked by it!
Lol!
She'll grow up!
the size of a fist, aaarghhh
Truthfully I think if you're sensible, you can be safe from the nasties here.
The vipers appear in people's rain barrels (we don't have one) but I worry more for the dogs, than for me

sorry, bad nel
time to go back in my cave!
{{lizlin}
Yuck! In the rain barrels! I understand your fear for the dogs. Here I think the main problem for dogs is a paralysing tic.
Look ate yourself Ruby. Hugs to you.
After!
I try to check them for ticks every day. My friend's dog wound up crippled after being bitten by one
*woof*
Sensible move.

Good night for real this time :)
See my clue at 7.57 mkg - really going now.
ty. got it.
name that maybe-proper-or-maybe-it-should-count-\nbut-it-doesn't noun! asian sauce
any clue for the other 9 not connected to the 10 out there? and what asian sauce hurshy?
hoisin sauce
ok. ty. so what are you cluing hurshy?
nothing, just playing NTPN
huh? dont know those initials......
Name That Proper Noun!
boy, these C's are hard.
It's an 8/9 combo ma 8/9
what you might soak meat in before cooking
ok i dont know it. so now must lookk. ma....
thanks mom
ma 8 has to do with sauce? wow am i confused.
to soak and season your meat prior to grilling
so is the sauce and the 8/9 same clue?
i got the ma 8 and 9. still dont get it but ok. onward to more words
you COULD use hoisin sauce as a ma8. but i wasn't attempting to clue anything at all.
i was just playing name that proper noun.
not a sauce necessarily. you might put a ma8 on the chicken and stick it in the fridge before cooking
you pour your ma8 into a bag with your meat and let it rest for a few hours for the flavor
oops! Sorry if I contributed to the confusion :)
you can make your own or buy it in a bottle
got the words. ty.
everyone added to the clue. so now i have the 8/9 and the word and understand it all.
easy one that I make is equal parts of soy sauce and maple syrup and fresh minced garlic......yum!
yummy.
I do brown sugar, soy sauce, oil and rice wine vinegar.
that sounds good too
I finally have NBT and NBS with 75 to go - now getting tough
can anyone please clue ma7/48
sorry dont have it
ok ty anyway
got it
Howdy, y'all!
hi
Hi Judi
I am surprised that some have not labeled the ma 7/40 an oxymoron
I dont have it yet - clue please
male + solomon-esque
that got me the 7/48 not the 7/40 still looking
well now that you mention it o-o :)
Ha ha. Yep, that could be an oxymoron.
no 7/40 my mistake
You see me here, you gods, a poor old man, As full of grief as age; wretched in both! If it be you that stir these daughters' hearts Against their father, fool me not so much To bear it tamely; touch me with noble anger, And let not women's weapons, water-drops, Stain my man's cheeks! Lear, Scene IV
No Lickety again today. *withdrawl symptoms setting in *
Molly has Dees list
K - will look there.
Well, there's cheerful news. Tornado watch for just about the whole east coast today. Wheee!
Are concessions available for the watchers?
What Judi? Tornadoes? Where on the east coast?
Pinwheels and kites for everyone.
Just heard on radio, bichon. Will tune to weather channel to get more info.
Thanks for the heads up. Turning weather station on....
if it'll take me to Oz, i'll take it.
Just looked at the Weather Channel. Uh Oh
tornadoes are not to be fooled with .. the devastation can be murderous.

ca and oc, eh?
ah yes i remember that oc now that you mention it
oc is a wind instrument or a sweet potatoe !!
sorry should have said the oc8 is a plural
it makes me think of that 90's dance
that started with ma
yes i remember that dance
is the ca8 anywhere in there with all those ca7's and the 9 and 10 or a totally other type of word
oohooh i monkeyed it!
totally other type of word is the answer
sorry was distracted - glad you got it
how dare you be distracted for a whole minute!
Clue for the ca8?
judi starts with the pretty lacy vest ladies wear
means the same but ends differently in this case ends with sa4/5
marquis de
chip chip chip... 30 left
name that proper noun! inventor of radio/telegraph
That is debatable, but you mean Marconi
ding ding ding! so i do :)
25...
hi all
hiya TO
it's a bit of a thinker today
i have been lazing about. late awkwening because of neighbors' bakring dogs. hate that
but i had better get dressed in advance of possible tornadoes.
but tornadoes can take your clothes right off!
well then i should put on pretty undies.
EVEN UNDIES! even high laced up boots!
if they took me to oz, that would be interesting. clothed or not. :)
yeah that's what i said, i'd be happy if it took me to oz.
oh no way. that is a plane crash.
Belated ty for the ca8.
but i remember in little house, in one of the later books, a kid who got taken up by a tornado and he got gently put down later, but, he got all his clothes taken off by it, including his boots, and so did his brother, only his brother was killed, every bone broken. and the horses they were riding, the saddles were removed also, even with all those buckles.
oh, then it must be true! ;)
BUT was it in the book?
yes, it was in the book
i do not report things from the SHOW!
Is the ca8 any way related to the ca10?
then mught it be LEW's imagination at work?
no ca8 not related to ca10
yeah i got the root ca6 of ca8 but cant figure out the ending sa4
no, judi, but it was clued within the last two screens
the marquis is the ending
i think she tried to report the real things... and that was in her older life when she could presumably remember better...
ah ty
ah ty
too bad our brit friends are not here, i need some fact checking.
like she was in her late teens by that incident
and a wannabe brit won't do, eh? :)
i was born in scotland.
Finally got the Ca9 & 10. Geesh. New ones to me.
someone claims leaves do not turn in europe. i just googled it and it seems they do in the north; scandinavis, russia
poor judi. it does take a while.
Have the ca8, ma8 and oc8. What does the last one start with?
i'm pretty sure in persuasion jane austen wrote about leaves turning in the fall...
gy8
Yuck. Thanks.
no it's not really so bad
Got it. Ty.
see?
:)
i think all deciduous trees lose their leaves in winter
Gy does have a rather narrow field of possibilities.
then pehaps in southern europe most trees are not deciduous.
born in scotland, where do you live now do0bee? when did you leave? do you have a scottish accent?
that makes sense.
Off to do more work. Ta for now!
they might be deciduous but it might not get cold enough.
im 40 in Arizona, been here since i was like 4 yrs old
in like, southern italy or something
they could still have a mix of evergreen and deciduous trees but just not have as much seasonal change maybe
the C's make me want to CRI
perhaps, but the blanket statement is not accurate. and i am off to dress for whatever the afternoon brings. at least i don't have to do my hair!
:)
name that proper noun! terrorist organization
too political
the plo maybe
words are apolitical
answers to name that proper noun are always found in the grid
Masad?
close
in what way is that close?
i dont think the name that noun is strictly a terrorist org.
No, I'm wrong, wrong spelling
it depends what side of the wall you're on,
that's true, it is not strictly a terrorist organization
ca 6/24 add a non-people person: ***anthrop*
it just has a terrorist wing
mossad might be a terrorist org. to some
it governs the gaza strip
Hamas?
ding ding ding!
thanks brabble!
ca + hit or **ss + marquis de ****
thank you for correcting my clue, it was overly narrow, do0bee.
lol i'm too pragmatic
no, i mean, it is a point well taken
I just popped in. Mossad does NOT govern the Gaza strip. The Mossad is the Israeli intelligence, equivalent to the US' CIA.
i just usually don't worry much about accuracy in those things so much as something that will make people get the word. but in such a delicate topic, perhaps accuracy is more important.
no michnick, hamas was the thing in question governing gaza.
well, I have just recently been accused of being pedantic ... who would have guessed
Easliy misunderstood. The chat gets all jumbled up sometimes.
Ah, well then. They are terrorists, and proud of it.
name that proper noun! semi-nomadic warrior tribe of kenya/tanzania
and maybe i shouldn't defend such organizations online, the walls have ears
masai
ding ding ding!
OR maasai, also acceptable spelling, also in grid! :)
if i could just find one more C... then i would be at listing point...
I was waiting for you to do the Village People song Hursh. : D
Probably too easy
lol, you could do them you know!
why wait for me?
And technically an abbreviation, not a proper noun
you can say
name that acronym!
variations are always acceptable.
nasa
YMCA, i would answer
name that noun -- A Chinese dipping sauce
hoisin!
ding!
i did that before and no one got it so i'm glad you did it! :)
JMC would have gotten. She's all into that stuff.
it was such a disaster too cause mkg thought it was a clue and she was all confused about ma8 and ... sigh.
Yes, that happens a lot.
froglogic has just upgraded its Sq 6/30 Test Automation Suite
That was a mess...

For the non-British, substitute the first 3 letters of the rabbit vegetable for the first part
na6...first three are "of the nose", last three = charged particle
ty molly
Just had to explain to hubby what I'm giggling at - love your icon Molly :)
Things like that could only be funnier if you were there to see the look in the face of the person making the call.

The ca8 is a short smoothbore, cast iron cannon, which was used by the Royal Navy and first produced by the Carron Company,
ma 8/50 - what you may soak your meat in to add flavor before grilling
ty River. I didn't get the ca8, but did get a 7. Can't make it plural

I only have 77 words and feel like giving up
Are there sq words?

Ahh the sq6
That is the only one Bich
thank the diety
there is an sq 6?
And I see a Bich dog is in the grid today : D
aha, i have it
Now Polo is jealous
Polo should not be jealous. He is in grids a lot.
Damn..mega is not valid :-(
I suppose it is an advertising word..lol
Not as much as he thinks he should be
Zoom, you can make yourself crazy trying to figure out why one thing is allowed in Enable and another is not. There is no rhyme or reason to it.
You are not wrong there, Molly.
mega is a prefix, not a word
I need to do some work. bbl for more torture
Ah thank you, TO :-)
Take care, Bichon.
Yes but mega is used as a stand alone word many times, without a hyphen and not connected to the word that follows it.
hi all. I have ma8. what do the other 8's start with pls
ca 8/55
gy 8/65

ty, had the ma 8. So dense in so many ways
i am so bored with this grid. make that bored in general
Me too, 83 words to go
makes me want to eat everything in sight.
or out of sight. anything. everything.
Time for a snack, TO?
Starting with chocolate
no, time for dinner.
my schedule needs adjusting
ty for the ca 9-10 :) - nbs
i have no chocolate.

time to go see what thawed out. failing that, it will be messy frying.
ooh - please don't talk about food! Was out for brunch this morning with a group of friends - absoulutely stuffed.
*Hands Nan the Pepcid*
crossy is lucky that way.i have not been bored since 1993.there is always something going on housework, kid issues, computers(playing on them or building them) schooling, painting the entire place inside every 2 years or so.barring any of that there is always a honey-do list not to mention 2-3 book a week for reading pleasure
That's cos crossy's grabbed life by the googlies and is wringing every last drop out of it :)
crossy, you have time to read and play Babble?
is there a ca 8?
i am going to squeeze every last drop out of it,chrissie!! that reminds me,i do have some pictures to share with you all once i get organized.it is from the night out we had on saturday on board the RMS saegwum and our sunset dinner cruise
Yes nan
of course, bichon.try to take my books away and you would lose a finger or 2
ca8/55
yes nan
Segwun*
Sounds lovely crossy
Good. You were able to take the cruise for the dinner date. Do you put them on your Babble post?
it was ,chrissie.beautiful old steam ship and the oldest of her kind left in north america
and you work too crossy?
i am working on it,stidmere
cross, why do yo ualways refer to yourself in the third person?
i am in school atm, bichon then off to a year of business courses then it is open my own place.i became tired of the petroleum business after 30 years
like maestro on seinfled.
it is from a old joke between a few babblers and myself from a few years ago,T>O and it has stuck and i have fun with it still on occasion
clue for the ca 8, please?
actually i rarely see you use first person at all.
same with my bacon schtick,T>O many enjoy it greatly,so i roll with it
oh, so it is a private joke.
that it is
that sums it up then.
and if my antics bring laughter or a smile to a babbler on a rough day, then it is all good.see? no third person there
Or a very public joke as it is in the chog
i have fun with it and many enjoy it so it is enough for me
no need to justify it to me. question asked and answered.
because in reality i am not the insane bacon fiend i make myself out to be.on the bright side i get all these amazing bacon recipies form women all around the globe
from
hundreds of babble ladies think of crossy every time they pick up a pound of bacon:)))))
No crossy, don't shatter the illusion!
and these bones need nourishment after all the dancing - and travlleing with epiphytic beings. time to prepare dinner.
Sooo true, Crossy. When I make my applesauce doughnuts this week with maple syrup frosting and bacon bits on top, I'll think of you.
ca8 - small undergarments worn by women + lemon drink
AS it happens tonight dinner does contain a smattering of bacon but that is just a cincidence hehe
ty,bzz
applesauce donust sound yummy. i saw maple bacon chips but i decided not to try them
Stidgmere, they sound amazing
ty bea
women on all continents think of crossy.what more could a man ask? lol
mmmm bacon doughnuts....
Easy recipe, Chrissie. Make a powdered sugar frosting with a little butter and maple syrup for the liquid. Sprinkle on a few bacon pieces and prepare to be surprised.
a bunch of ca words that are new to me -- mind you, I am neither a biologist nor a military person
the whole world has gone bacon crazy
reminds me,,i have 52 ounces of bacon vodka all ready to go.it has been steeping for 6 weeks.common over everyone:))
I thought they were difficult too, nan.
True, TO. I think the smokey flavor has premeated somebody's brain in advertising land.
the folks i traveled with over the weekend hardly ate.
crossy tidbit.if making your own bacon vodka, use a stainless steel plated tea ball to infuse your vodka.i also find that if you decant it into 1 quart mason jars first, the steeping process is easier and remember to half rotate those jars every few days:))
How could they travel without little coffee breaks and a pastry?
and so did not put meals into the travel plan . i strongly suggested dinner on friday night. they assented and fortunately the restaurant was satidfactory. good, even.
one on the prod diet and the other old and just eats very little. they are both like rails.
sorry, i got that wrong. fodmaps diet
Hi, does anyone have a list for today?
*Makes a note to always travel with someone like Gran Mere*
I have Dee's list in my profile
what is a "prod" diet???
Thanks MollyL
That is the best part of traveling...eating new foods.
Makes note, call Molly before traveling to coordinate coffee breaks.
need a break = bbl
diet originated in aus. eliminates all carbs
How can you exist without carbs. That means no vegetable products
hi all
So what was her problem with eating? You can get lots of non-carb things in a restaurant.
back to find 52 words
tough grid
ra 7/36?
I think FODMAP is low carb Bich.
she has nut allergies and with fodmaps need to be sure that there is no wheat or the like, often used in cooking. her approach is extreme compared with the suggestions but i understand her digestive problems are as well.
and she said she will not eat at a chain restaurant for fear of the wrong items
My granddaughter has nut allergies and it's so hard to totally avoid nuts when eating out
ra7...lifting up
ty Molls
ty Molly
you also learn to read all the fine print on packaging - today just found out that the pretzels i buy are made in the same place as peanuts are processed - just found our grandson has a severe hut allergy
love your icon, Molls
It is so difficult to find food that hasn't been processed in a factory which processes nuts. So difficult
fodmaps works because it exludes so many foods. you an reintroduce foods from each group later one at a time to see what you can tolerate.
what is fodmaps
this person is truly scary thin
and so was our driver. he just is one of those folks who does not eat much, w hich happens a lot with some older folks
he is in his 70s as far as we can tell
found a very nice user friendly photo/video sharing site called smugmug.com and hope to share some pics with with all of you in a few minues.lol, you will all get to finally see crossy.i advise taking gravol now to ease your stomachs lol

Ah Crossy the two of you make a lovely couple!
these are from the dinner cruise you took the other night?
yes they are:)) was very, very nice
for a ship almost 130 years old the segwun still shines
great photos, crossy
we used to have something like that here on Keuka Lake but the owner went bankrupt
she first sailed in 1884 and at that time she was a sidewheeled vessel
but she got new engines in 1907 and 1911 and they gave her propellers instead
ty,cybernan
was odd to see a ship taking on coal.not seen much anymore, they dumped 2 tonnes of it down a hatch while we were watching them get ready
i will add more pictures maybe tomorrow the engine room is a steampunk fans dream:))
the old engine telegraph itself was a beautiful thing
ok.done boring you all to death now:)
Finally, figured out how to access your web page. I must be the slowest Babbler in NorthAmerica. My, what great pictures and it looks so much like our winter skies. Thank you for sharing this special event!
i am glad you enjoyed my pictures, stidmere.they we just taken fast with an i phone but they turned out nice
i will post more tomorrow.i got a real charge out of the old hand operated ballast pump in the hallway it has handles like one of those hand carts you see on the train tracks and takes 2 men to operate
and the dining room was very nice.prime rib dinner for two while the ship sailed;)
as we sailed through the narrows people who owned cottages on the shore would blink the lights inside or ring small bells to ask the captain to use his steam horn and he would let off a blast that reverbarated of the rocks and the islands as we passed:)
thx for sharing, crossy - enjoyed browsing your pics...
your very welcome bojazz;))
Enjoyed the photos Crossy! You and Mrs. Crossy are a lovely couple!
tyvm magazinemom:)
Beautiful pics Crossy :) And good morning to you all. You and your wife look lovely and what a great boat and beautiful surroundings.
Who has a list for today? Please :)
Molly and Dee have lists.
tyvm,liz.we had an amazing time
We had our wedding dinner on a boat - an evening cruise on the broad water. Lovely thing to do. Happy anniversary, belatedly too.
TY Liz!
If you google maranoa - then look at images, on the 2nd or 3rd row there
there's a pic of the Maranoa.
Time for brekky. BBL
I suppose I should feed the teens before I embark on finishing this grid. Lol
Beautiful photos Crossy. It looks like it was a lovely evening. Any idea what the white things are that hang down the outside of the ship are?
ty,liz:)) what surprised me in the design of the vessel were the bumpers you see on the side.we are so used to rubber bumpers or plastic or tire bumbers that we forget an age when those were not available.what you see there are 6x6 wooden beams 8 feet long chaned to the side of the boat with chaines and springs.that cushinons the vessel as it docks
ty ,fuzzy bunny see my reply bellow
chained
cushions
Fascinating, I thought that was the purpose of them, but I am surprised at the size and the fact that they are made of wood. I would have thought that they would have put modern bumpers on the ship.
nope.all is as original as it can be.it is amazing it has survived to unaltered(other than the original paddle wheel it has until 1925
It must have been like going back in time to cruise on the ship.
and the length of the bumpers is in case the water levels go up or downor when it ties up to the side of it sister ship the winona 2 built in 1925
it was indeed,fuzzybunny
i man not even portholes.actual windows
staggering to thing this vessel had already been sailing for 25 years before the titanic even did her maiden voyage
Hello all!! How's da grid?
After you posted that you were taking this dinner cruise I searched it on Google and learned a lot about the boat and the area. I love all the travels I get to take through Babble folks.
And, crossy, how is academia going for ya?
we are blessed to live in the area we do, fuzzybunny
it is going very well indeed, jilly
when she was a paddlewheeler she was known as the Nippissing
and since it is still registered with the Canadian government as a royal mail ship, the mrs and i sent each other post cards on board to mark the event.instead of a regualr town or city cancellation mark the cards will bear the seal of the ship itself as the postmaster
How cool!
Clue for the ma 7/48?
the stamp collectors love that since so few mail ships are still registered
but they will not be getting our cards!
ma7 male + very smart

New one on me. I've never heard of talking cats before.
Our second one actually would say an understandable hello....

my ebony cat says hello and mama, and talks all the time
wtg nan
have a web page to update -- back at the flip :)
WooT WooT WooT cyber!!
Okay, I get it. After a quick perusal of YouTube, you people think these cats "talk" because they meow a lot.
mine really talks - she sez hello when i arrive home and when she wants attention
Sure, sure. She makes dinner for you too, right? : D
i wish.... she eats my potato chips as well
Mine loved string beans....go figure...
Yeah, yeah. Wait, doesn't someone have a cat that does logarithms? Maybe Sue.
Hi all :)
Hello lizlin
Hope you got everything sorted out with Jilli and Flosey
Babble folks getting together in Canada? Cool.
Flosey may be in Toronto, but hopefully Jillibus will be able to meet up for lunch in Victoria
nbt/nbs...only 60 words and am already brain dead...time for a break...bbl
Clue for ca 7 / 36 please

AND IT'S LIZ!!!
Yay Liz!
ty. As ever thanks for the lists and clues :)
They can take a long time to set up internet in aus but I do hope lickety's back soon!
i am done!!
congrats, liz!
AND PEN COMES IN A CLOSE SECOND!!
Yay Pen!
and thanks for the list, Molly...
lol....
Congrats pen :)
Whew! Drinks all around. That was a close race.
1st ca6?
nm
I'll join you for drinks - even at 10.38 am! I guess it's past midday somewhere!
ty!
1st ca 6 is like the last one - swap the sometimes vowel for a pure vowel.
Just saw the nm!!!! Sorry.
<---Loves party girl Liz : D
BBL - good luck to all who haven't finished!!!! So true Molly!!!
Only slightly misread what you wrote!
ho 7/40? any hints
?
Gerund form of the 6 before it
not getting it
start with ho5 - like home except change the second vowel
then PT it, then gerund it
ho5 sounds like loudness. ho6 is the past tense of that and ho7 has the gerund ending.
no word for loudness
still no luck thanks for your efforts
like a backyard watering ho** but stick an extra vowel in it
There is too much no5, please turn down your music. Now make that your ho5 word. The ho6 is the past tense of that word and the 7 has the gerund ending.
that did it tyvm
hello all.
ho5 rhymes with no5, sound, often discordant
hi TO
didn't have the 5/12 or the 1st 6/24 was trying to get it off the 2nds 6/24 ... it u can understand my confusion
hi joso
FW
yay!
challenging grid... good luck, all. I'm off to dinner
night, kje.
has anyone watched the pbs series geneology road show? i hated it
I guess not, what's it like
very pretentious and filled with contrived drama
i am going to try sleep hollow instead as a last resort in hte vast wasteland
I'm enjoying sleepy hollow, better than I expected it to be
Pretentious and contrived drama...oh, I need to just laugh about that and refrain from further comment. Good description TO. : )
que?
No, no, I'm trying to behave. : X
should i be stomping off? :P
No, no need for you to stomp off at all.
molly i liked blobs park. i am sorry if they develop it. thought the festival was ver poorly attended
It is a shame how many nice parks are getting "newly renovated" when they are fine just the way they are.
they want to knock it down for housing.
right ear the county jail and a state prison. I'd live there.
Yes, so everyone can stay inside, suck face to their computers, tv's and iPhones.
well when you put it that way, i guess it doesn't matter. there was a great goodwill store there, i picked out a skirt for my travel companion. she is a big thrifter.
Oh, I think it matters a lot. I would rather see the outdoor parks and venues remain, so people have outdoor options for their lives.
i meant it does not matter if a prison is your neighbor when you ar imprisoned by technology
Oh, okay, got it now. Yes, that's true.
they were building a huge building across from the holiday inn near t95. perhaps condos or apts
I find it sad that the only time most people are outside is walking to and from their cars.
true. but city living is resurgent
have yo watched sleepy hollow? and speaking of fantasy, have you seen cos?
Cos doesn't have internet at the moment. His choice. Life changes and such. I am mildly amused by Sleepy Hollow. While it is re-writing all the original legends, it seems to be the only show of that genre presently gaining interest.
oh, well tell him hi from me. i wi4 i had the c ourage.
it appears nothign is holding my interest tonight. edgy. want to get the last 5 and go read
ngiht,a ll, off to read

Thanks much, joso.

sa6 cutting wood
Why did I start this one....
brb
oh fish me, if I am allowed to say that anymore.... Thanks joso
masochistic tendencies?
I have I no idea Jilly, I wish I hadn't too
Ugly....well, going to go for high point words and call it good.
I am too OCD for that. Once I start I am doomed
Well, had a rough day at work and tomorrow looks the same....have to quit in 45 minutes and head to bed...
I forgot Jilly, what ward do you work on?
I'm in the surgery center...mostly endoscopy, today recovery room and outpatient observation.
I bet you have some funny stories about the recovery room people who are not quite awake. Try remembering some of those before you sleep.
LOL...we had the comedians today... *sigh* "how are you feeling?" "With my fingers"
I was always too doped to be quick. My best was when they were trying to wake up some poor man and kept calling, "Francis, Francis wake up."
No response so they slap his cheeks a bit and then try calling him Frank. still no response.
Oh dear...
eventually the doctor who knew him came in and said, "Vern time to wake up" and he did
Just as I was starting to get worried too. I thot it was pretty funny. The poor nurses were never going to get from Francis to Vern
LOL...ya, did that one time...not as far as that before I realized I had the wrong name though
I hope you have fun in Victoria. I grew up there and 3 of my boys live there
Was there a long time ago...very beautiful. Where are you now?
Are we ever going to see Lickety again?
He stopped in two nights ago. Move done, but no internet yet.
Oh.
I am half way up Vancouver Island in Courtenay, Jilly
wish you could join Jillibus and I for lunch!
what day is it? I know when I first saw it I didn't have the 4 but things are changing a bit.
the $ I mean
We are looking at lunch at butchart gardens on the 18th (Friday)
Oh I am sorry. I have to tutor up here that day. I will be with you in spirit and hope you have a lovely time. Butcharts is glorious whatever the season

It is harp....run....run...
not overly, but the size with no lickey is making it rough for most
hi harp, joso, bugs, shirl and Jilly
oh, no lickety. darn!
ever with clue lists
I did it in twenty hours harp.. not a problem :D
*even
the size with Lickey ? :D
the 7' 8's, 9's and 10 were hard to find! and yeah, without lickety it's durn near impossible.
It's not the size, it's the oddball words.
are we talking about words here or something else :D
clue list in my profile if you want harp
at least the 4's are common words! :)
clue for sa6/36 plz
thanks, i'm pretty much dying already. 10 words
I find no lickety means I spend a lot more time hunting plurals and gerunds
cut wood + gerund, Jilly
sa 6 what you do with Logs
Oh gee, always something else, of course.
How's the kitty doing harp?
I love being ignored :D
oops, have that one, need the 6/24
beach material + not bye
not good jilly. she has very shallow breathing and hasn't eaten for a couple of days
ty ruru, getting too blind to see...and does it count that I chuckled at your enterance?
So sorry harp, but you have given her a wonderful life...
so far, anyway...
she's my niece's cat. I've only had her since August.
Oh...this is the new one...any idea on age or what might be going on?
have you taken her to a vet harp?
She's 16. She had what we assumed was skin cancer and made an appointment for a biopsy. That was Thursday. The appointment was today and she wasn't healthy enough for a biopsy. He took blood and we'll get the results in the morning.
But she is acting REALLY frail.
oh.. doesn't sound good..
*Ignoring*...*Not acknowledging the lead balloons either*
Not in pain?
16 is fairly old for a cat though
we need a lead balloon room now
Let me rephrase that. She didn't make the appointment, WE did. So she has gone downhill pretty fast, since Thursday.
My niece got her on her 13th birthday. She's 29 now.
I was going to say .. what a smart cat
lol
we had one that would dial the phone.. but kept getting wrong numbers
Well, at least there would be two people not offended by The Lead Balloon Room. : D
I'm trying to decide if I want to watch Hostages.
hi all!
who'd you kidnap harp?
It's interesting but it moved kind of slow for me.
lol again\

You're welcome Sue. I think Dee is the best. Glad to pass along her help.

Okay, am short two 6's, but am just too tired to go on...ending with 2231 points...have a good nite all
