made about 4 dozen cheesy rice krispy nibbles and vat of "Jilly's chili" for the next Friday Happy Hour(s). Others will bring salad and bread.

we just got this one a few months ago
we've been down this road a few times---her sugar always testes high at the doctors office
hmmm, at work, every time we open a new packet of test strips, we have to re-calibrate. and then we do it again once/week to make sure calibration is holding.
I will try that Rose, if this meter is okay
the other issue could be the puncture site. if her hands aren't clean, or if the nurse/doctor has not allowed the alcohol from swab to evaporate fully, you will get a false high.
just make sure you take her current test strips with you, plus her calibration strip.
like I said as soon as I got off the phone with the nurse we took her sugar and it showed 127(this was after dinner) but her morning reading before meds and eating was 220

Rose, my girlfriend called me last night and she fell outside the hospital and cracked her knee cap--and she had knee replacements a few years ago. Now they think she is to have to have it redone---sound kind of like you huh?
neglect in long term care facilities is far too common
well, in my case that would be a benefit, grin. But anyway, they don't have to think of her as a mother. Just a human being should be enough to make them care.

when I was studying physical therapy, ages back, I had to... what is the word... work for a while in one of those nursing homes without pay, to see how things went and to help where I could. I cried so much. Got an A for the report... couldn't bear to see how people were treated there. And not just because of laziness. Also because of being understaffed and overworked.

no, shut it down once a day for at least 4 hours, bad to turn computers on and off frequently, and bad to keep them running,
okay--I do usually shut it down after morning babbling and dont restart until the next day--I figure no since in giving the electric company any more money then ness. lol

there is a power surge when you turn on electrical things, the surge that causes old light bulbs to blow when you switch them on, that is bad for computers, but leaving them on all the time causes heat problems, good for them to thoroughly cool down once a day.
but Joso might be on to something about the power thing. I do have the monitor and the tower plugged into a plug box that plugs into the wall
you might try a good surge protector, one that comes with a warranty for the equipment plunged into it, it will stop surge problems, but no help for brownout issues.
and I do live in a housetrailer and they dont use the best of products and plus they have too many plugs on the same curicut too---cause we have had problems before with other things knocking out the fuse on the outside main box
the cheap 10$ powerbars say they are surge protectors, but not very good at it.

Iam not that equip on electric stuff, but the box I got my computer plugged into has a red light and if like lighting hits its suppose to kick off to keep from harming things or overheating(is this what you are talking about? Joso
yes, but if it is a cheap one they frequently don't work well, and the others are not that expensive, 25-40 bucks the last time I looked. they come with a warranty that pays you if anything plunged into it fails due to power problems, very good at steadying out power flow and surge protection.

I know too that this one has a very heavy cord(much heavier than others we have in the house)

we have no plays or anything like that close--would have to go to the state capital to see any of that stuff
art studios, 3 zoos, museums. We have the batta shoe museum here, women seem to like that one
we live about 40km/about 25 miles from the CBD
and theres so much crime there I dont go there
train at the end of our street takes us straight into melbourne central
I've never been mugged or assaulted.

Sorry - I must react to what was being discussed when I came on....Happily(!) with life threatening cancer the patient quickly come to terms with what will probably happen to them. And usually the medications &/or chemo numbs not only the pain but also their emotions. Is it easier for the patient? - no. You still know what is going on and know you may be leaving your family. Family and friends react in all kinds of ways - I had people unable to see me and others horrified - but really, they are going to get through the loss if that comes and for them there is a tomorrow. Your niece sounds very stoic Peach - I hope she wins her fight.
