chili was great, so was the salad one neighbour brought and the home-made bread another did. And there was a decision to make it much simpler in the future.

ty jilli, copied now. Will have to research what the uk equivalent is for the cheese
Sleep well Min
I would think any strong cheddar, Chrissie.
ty tor
It must be some sort of cream cheese though?
night minver
Or is it just grated?
I figured grated!
Thanks liz
Just guessing but that's what I'd do - thinking also about the texture.
no, it's a solid in a round plastic container -- let me check the indgredients -- I know it's mostly very strong cheddar.

Jilli, I've googled the cheese and have seen pictures. It appears to be only available in Canada. Will experiment with different cheeses - the krispies sound too good to miss!
thank you diz
yw Ru
Thanks Diz :)
BBL gotta feed the g/kids, hungry buggars they are...LOL
It's MacLaren's Imperial "since 1891", made now by Kraft. Ingredients: Extra old cheddar cheese (milk ingredients, bacterial culture, salt, microbial enzymes, salt, calcium chloride, colour, lipase), water, modified milk ingredients, sodium citrate, scorbic acid, citric acid, lactic acid, colour. It comes in a round dark red container 4" in diameter, 1½" high.
And it's kept refrigerated.
Thanks jilli, did you see my post just below
Only in Canada? Pity.
Maybe there's something similar in Lancs for you, Chrissie.
I'm sure I will find something that works taste wise, it's the texture that's the tricky bit
the texture is buttery
Tummy rumbling now, lol
well, good luck!

Hi, VolleymomDee - I'm not really awake yet and we haven't met, but I wanted to say thank you for putting lists in your profile! They've been so helpful.
You are quite welcome, nice to meet you.
yes, truly, VMDee, you rock!!!!
Always a community effort :)

well, with nbt (finally) i am off to bed. sweet dreams, all!
Sleep well jbp
I just saw rbud's query about Daylight Saving. Some people seem to have it mixed up. We are now on Standard Time, i.e. winter time. Daylight Saving is over now. It was summer time. I wish we could stay on summer time all year and not have the dark descend at 4 pm.
Funny, Jilli. We don't have daylight saving in Queensland. Wish we did so it would get dark later than 7 in the summer!
Well, Australia is different!
I loved the long summer nights in Canada and England.
Me too.
Hated driving to and from work in the dark in winter in England.
Well, we're so far north.
Glad I'm not in northern Norway etc.
Lol
I thought you went to bed
I started to but had to attend to the kitchen -- dropped in here again to turn things off, and...Really needed to sit down for a bit, so tired.
finally - t's done.
I did laundry. .living large here
I did laundry earlier -- more to do tomorrow
and now I'm really going...*repoof
Sleep well jilli
2 to go...this grid is really hard...
rose - only 2 to go?? Wow. I have 176 to go.
morning all
121 left here.
And struggling!
Rose is a show off
But good!
well yea, she does have something to show off
you been peeking again, joso???
hehehehe
Guess you finished then Rose! Congrats :)
cooee to all my babble buddies...joso, anita, liz, dianne, rur
thanx, liz. it was a toughy tonight
congrats rose
thanx joso
i love it when my cat is surprised by who knows what and jumps straight up in the air.
wow. congratulations rose!
thanx mab
yea, I enjoy that too
i don't know how they do that. it's almost like flight.
levitation
my dog could do that, a 6 foot standing leap, wierdest thing you've ever seen
didn't know dogs did that too. i have one cat with nerves of steel, other quite nervy but curious
he didn't do it because he was surprised. he did it for extreme joy, or to get attention.
mab, i had a tom cat which could jump straight up onto the top of an 8' fe5. i used to laugh hysterically when i saw it. he would be asleep under a bush beside our drive, and a stray dog would meander in. from a complete curled up position, my cat would end up on top of the fe5.
after getting him I read up on the breed, they are apparently known for these leaps.
so what breed is that, joso?
bovies
they caution you that a 6 foot yard fence may not be enough
joso, no matter which way i google it, i cannot get to a site which shows me your dog.
bouvier de Flanders, I am certain my spelling is wrong, hold on
oh, they look like hungarian pulis. lots of curly ha4?
Bouvier des Flandres, someone else's spelling, so is correct
yes a lot of curly hair, 135 lbs that looks like 200lbs
do they sort of fixate on one person to love?
shadow decided I was it for him, even though he was supposed to be my wife's. But he had a mental heard, all in that heard were under his protection
heh, my spelling not so bad, only missed one letter
an ex-man-friend had a pair of them...he was not amused when the female of the pair decided i was her friend, and not him.
but of course you were ever so delicate in how you dealt with his tender male ego
payback happened when the so-and-so decided to whip her with a rope, and the rope flicked back and gave him the black eye.
how did he become an ex-man, hood ornament accedent
whip her, never was a man,
lolol.....after i castrated his ego....he was the one who said my innocent 6 year old was evil...for goodness sake!
how can a 6 year old child be evil?
hi
you make the right choices as to who should be ex friends.
g'day urshy
hi ursh
seen omen
how is it going every one
but baring demonic possession
ha ha ha
bovies are such sweet tempered dogs, I don't understand how someone would whip one.
urshy, all good. riding it out until the 25th, which is when my surgery is booked.
and you, dear friend....how are you, urshy?
fine
exactly, joso...which indicated to me how out of kilter this guy was.
not too long now rose, couple of weeks
*giggle* one of which will be spent travelling. am so looking forward to it.
traveling? doing the great oz wheelchair tour?
as my friend said...if you can't work, they cannot expect you to sit at home waiting.
joso...going to apollo bay for 3 days, then on to mt gambier for 3 days...praying that the weather is kind to us.
they may expect it, but that's their problem
no wheelchair...just making the most of this time off.
That sounds lovely Rose. Will the lake be blue at this time of year?
both places where we are staying have wifi...so am hoping to login ea4 night and say ' hi '
liz, it should be....
Stepsons gf comes from mt gambier - have seen pics of the lake. Love great ocean road.
oh, btw, i didn't tell you guys/gals. my own mother had a pretty hard fall this AM. apparently, one of her pupils is dilated...texted my bros...of course it is dilated, she has just had cataract surgery on that eye...apparently no-one has taken that into account..*sigh*
that's great rose, why not, no reason to sit there twiddling your thumbs.
Hope your mothers ok, Rose.
joso, my GP is very concerned for my mental health.
Totally stressed I'd think.
just googled gambier, comes up as some islands of the coast of bc, must be an old brit who managed to get his name on a few colonial things
don't understand...apparently peeps like me flip over the edge...like that's going to happen...i have both fe4 firmly on the ground.
joso, try mt. gambier
Rose I'm sure your GP has standing orders to watch your mental state shortly after meeting you
from the noises from the kitchen...methinks dinner is nearly ready...xoxox to you all
I did that next, looks like a tolerable joint
Bon appetite Rose.
hmmm, joso....not sure what i am to extrapolate from that...
Try mount gambier, south australia
:) enjoy your meal rose

Oops! You already did! Missed that!

am watching the leonard di capprio version of 'romeo and juliet' what an amazing re-make!!
isn't amazing? all these centuries later, shakespeare's words can still touch us.
Goooooooood morning fellow Babblers xx Would someone let me know how many words today please? xx
270
ty dc xx
hene
oops sorry
oh yes! one of my favourite words in todays grid! ze6 pinnacle. Strange how a word can be a favourite word . . .
When a wrong clue is typed THAT should mean a spell in the PB. I'm struggling at 114 and need the help!
pat, how can i help you?
Thanks for ze6
lol your welcome!!!
hello, worzel, dc, and pat
hi granny hows you? xx
You could lend me your brain please. I have to go away and when I come back it might all look better.
riding it out until the 25th, worzel. and you?
Sorry, forgot to say hello to all. Rarely chat because I'm too stupid to both chat and play.
not bad considering. Just about recovering from my op - left the house for first time yesterday. Tired myself out but it was necessary!
hmm, worzel, could give you 5 years...would make us equal, lolol
Good morning Pat xx
worzel, no cursing yourself...that's my job....
worzel, what surgery have you had?
to be fair it's only the second op i've ever had so not bad going for an oldie (i'm 42 now, ya know!!)
I've just had a cataract op and am squinting at the screen but that eye sees better now. Other eye will be done soon. Then I can drive again and shop on my own...
sorry, that should have read...pat, no cursing yourself...lol
oh i don't mind! you can curse me rose!! lmao
yeah, pat...the MIL was amazed post her cataract op.
anyway i'm off 2 make coffee. who wants one?
This sounds silly but I hadn't really clocked that I couldn't see. I kept walking into doors or falling over!
no thanx worzel. the end of my day here.
ok rose. well if i don't see u again have a good night (it's earlyish morning here in uk) xx
pat, my bro has just messaged me that my mother has just fallen for the second time today. she is in a nursing home. but had cataract surgery about 10 days ago.
worzel, you didn't answer my question re surgery...if it's too personal, i understand.
Hello, Rose & all :-)
good morning all :) Sorry to be so late, I slept in.
Hello, Sprite :-)
hi zooz *hugs*, hi rose *hugs*
How goes it with you, Sprite?
oh sorry rose i didn't realise youd asked! i had my appendix out. Was in agony for 4 days (thought it was trapped wing) and by the time they took it out under emergency surgery i had gangrene in my stomach and all sorts! but im getting there now. Thanks for asking xx
trapped wind not wing lmao
Sounds painful, Worzel :-(
am ok, zooz. Loan came through, so immensely relieved and all bills paid and money in the bank to get the car fixed. And had the annual flu shot which makes me a little ill right now. But nothing pressing this weekend, so I will indulge in being a little ill :)
a trapped wing sure sounds painful.
it was but the funny thing is that the pain was in my middlle and not down where the appendix is. But I'm a lot better now. I have a very large open wound on my tummy which has 2 be dressed every 2 days but no more pain thankfully x
((Sprite)) glad your money worries have ben eased...hate having money shortages...so depressing...Flu jabs are a god thing in the long run so hopefully the ill effect will be short lived.
hey zooz and sprite. was off preparing meds. goods new spritey, re finances.and worzel, too bad, hun. hope you are well on the road to recovery.
thanks zooz :)
hi rose *hugs* How are you today, hun?
worzel, that is referred pain.
Pain is pain to me..lol..no matter where it is on my body.
thats what the dr said. I have to say, the NHS here gets a lot of bad press, but they are angels, they truly are. The only thing is they kept telling me off for being out of bed too much after the op, but I just needed to move about and get on with it - can't be doing with being ill - i'm not your typical man lol
yeah and pain sucks. Biggest energy eater there is.
am so glad, worzel, that all is going well
Ditto on the NHS, Worzel.
ty rose. do you prefer to be called granny or rose? xx
lol, worzel. i was up and walking to the toilet 4 hours post-op. night staff nearly fell pff th5 ch6. when they saw me.
lol rose
lmao rose ty for the th5 and ch6!!!
well as long as you don't rupture any operation wounds, movement is good.
either worzel, i answer to both...also dear, darling, mum, sis and daughter. pick one...
Thats why, Rose has that icon..she is SUPER ROSE!
and we are training rose to answer to squirrel. We are close to reaching that goal.
well as i no longer have a mum i shall call you mum and it will be a privilege to actually have a NICE mum at last! xx
amen to that. Anyone having rose for a mum is a lucky person.
roflol, sprite....<-------squirrel------->
A nice red squirrel..not like the grey ones.
*winks at rose*
*cheeks full of nuts*
no, a beautiful one with a lovely rich red tail.
cheeks full of nuts? oo-er!!
worzel, email addy in profile, any time, dear.
let me see... nuts? yeah, check. Cheeks... turn around, dear... right, check.
We have lots of red ones on the Isle of Wight.
they are so cute, zooz. How lovely you get to see them a lot.
hi all
awww, sprite...roflol
Hello, Joso :-)
hi joso *hugs*
hi joso and good morning! xx
welcome to the madhouse
uh oh...the harem master is here..
madhouse? I will have you know that anything I post is to the point, wise and well-thought-through. Ah4.
Teehee
ROFLOL...sprite....since when???
oy, have you all been drinking
you mean you never noticed, rose? :)
Only tea sadly.
just a glas of water so far
*blushes* ummmm, *drawing squiggles in the dirt with toe of shoe* ummmm
Rose, I just found out something truly endearing about bovies, one bit hitler
bovies, one bit hitler... you lost me there. What does it mean?
joso, and the other bit???
lol
bouvier des flanders, a dog breed, bovies for short
ah ok
hitler ordered the breed to be exterminated
Now why does that not surprise me.
WHY????
the other bit, my guess, jack rabbit or kangaroo
because one of them bit him
*chuckling* joso
hitler thought about taking the breed as part of his troups, then one bit him and he ordered the breed to be terminated. How sick can someone be.
joso and sprite...hitler...one very sick puppy...
too true. Do you guys know that story by Roald Dahl?
WW I was rough on them too, used on the battle field to pull ambulance carts, almost killed out then too
which one, sprite?
and they are such gentle dogs.
the one about that woman that is giving birth, with the husband who is cruel and mean and keeps telling her she will once again deliver a dead child.
well, except to dictators apparently, hehehe
guess the dog smelled something evil, joso, lol
no, sprite not aware of that roald dahl story.sounds very sad.
so what happens in the story sprite?
Roald Dahl makes you feel for the woman, makes you hate the man, and makes you yearning for the child to live. And in the end the child lives... and the doctor says: "Don't worry, frau Hitler, your baby will be fine."
ooo, a very twilight zone feel
oh, dear...so it leaves you feeling ambivalent.
Thats what i thought, Joso..wow!
the man is a genius. A very creepy story, that.
yes to both. Ambivalent, and very twilight zone feel.
well I have it on good authority he can not be evil until he is 7, ;)
:D
hoho, joso...
you better believe it....
though with a father like that he might be twisted early
was hitler's father was on the warped side of the tracks?
Hitler's father was actually quite normal. He used to run a small business, but in the area they lived a Jewish family moved in and opened a business which bankrupted Hitler Snr. This is probably where Adolf's hatred came from
fireworks 4 me -)
Congrats, Anita!
they aren't even certain who is hitler's father
ty. pooh im gone
th4 again, so was my sons' father...he was the most malignant man i have ever known. it took 11 years for me to figure it out.
I don't think he was as twisted as the story says, was a petty bureaucrat, that's all I know really
gratz Anita!
WTG ANITA!!!!
congrats anita
hir
That was close.
*hugs rose* It is hard to pick a good man when you grow up with a narcissistical mother.
lol zooz
ahhh, thanx worzel for the history lesson. it was never a favourite subject of mine.
morning babblers
I do know a jewish doctor tended hitlers mothers death bed, and hitler made a special effert to exclude that doctor from the genicide.
hi carlee
hi joso
whoot!!! carlee{{hugs}}
I am off..Not often i get to see you ladies as on a bit later in the day..so it was nice to see you..take care..ntill next time..*lots of hugs*

yay, for all of you
tnx rose, got 4 out of that
ah, I see, yes that can take over your whole life, lol. Are you enjoying it, carlee?
yes I am... I have been teaching a class of grade 5s this year
one more week and i am back to school myself
oh wow, nice age group.
for most they are esl and there are a couple kids who have significant behavioral issues...
they test me every day but so far I am managing
carlee, not sure how up-to-date you are..i fell in may, at work. slipped on a freshly washed floor at work. no signs out to say so. tore my medial colateral ligament in the right knee( the total knee replacement knee). now have approval of funds for revision total knee replacement...happeniong on the 25th november.
not easy, carlee. But they have a good one in you.
wow, a very challenging group to deal with carlee
i knew about the fall... but yay on the surgery....
not long to go....
the behavior issues are oppositional.. they have no control at home their parents have been abusive... ( yes all authorities in the know)
no time at all rmcc and I wish you all the best of luck for a speedy recovery too... ( as I am not sure I would see you before again)
very important for them then to have you as a teacher, carlee
difficult to deal with at the best of times, carlee...have the utmost faith in your capabilities.
well... they have me for 1 more week sprite... I will cry my eyes out on friday
awww, thanx carlee
*hugs carlee*
ditto from me...*hugs carlee*
ahhhh group babble hug.... I miss those...
in that case... here's another one ((((((((((((carlee))))))))))))
squeeeeee
oooh, yeah, carleee...you, me and sprite

babble burped
hmmm, not good, joso...so need the man to lead the harem...lol
the daily hiccup, joso
just a few more good wishes, but you had plenty to go on without me carlee
thanks joso...
hard to believe this grid harbours 270 words. Running out of steam long before the halfway point.
joso, you and crossy got into contact, right?
lead, snort choke
oh, loverly...meds kicking in...pillow singing it's song....see you all tomorrow at the flip
lead us right into temptation...
night rose, sleep well dear friend. *hugs*
yes, he is not sure he can make it, will let me know latter today
would be awesome. He said maybe Flosey can make a picture of you and him together, both holding a sign saying 'hi Molly!' :)
"leading" this bunch is like herding cats
so short update in my life... teachers college since sept... mum diagnosed with cancer in summer am living with her now as chemo is no longer an option ( but she is getting alternative drug therapy and it seems to be working) my son is in alberta now working for haliburton... daughter about to graduate high school and I have been seeing a very nice man ( a professor at my former school) for a few months...
lol sprite that is so bad
hehehe
I know... but so funny too :)
*poof* omg, sprite...will you ever stop riding on the edge? i certainly hope not...
so i take it not much has changed in babble land
ok... sorry about your mum, carlee. How wonderful you moved in with her. And the rest looks like good news. Wow :)
never, rose, grin. *hugs* Go to bed... I'll hold the fort...
well school is 100 km away still... so I am driving daily.... this way I get evenings with her and I make sure she is eating
good grief. Carlee, you are amazing.
*nighty night* xoxoxox
night night rmcc and again.best wishes for a speedy rcovery hun ((hugs))
no sprite...hardly... I just do want needs to be done...

g'night rose, rest well
and WHAT needs to be done... blerg
so? That makes you pretty special in my book, carlee.
so what part of canada are you in carlee?
well thanks sprite....but it is pretty mundane...up at 5 on road by 630 latest.... school by 730 at the latest... teach until 330.... home by 5 cook.. prep for next day...
sarnia ON joso and I go to UWO ( althouse college)
UWO in London on
A bit far, I am meeting Flosey who is in town, for brunch in woodbridge on sunday, you are welcome to join, but that is a very long drive.
someone who is willing to do that for their mum, every day, is special, carlee. It is not in the things you do, but in the fact that you do them.
yea.. I heard from crossy... I already drive more than a 1000 km a week... and I am heading into my last week of practicum..not likely a wise time for me to be galavanting about ..this is a big homework weekend for me wrt prep
thanks sprite....
yea, I wouldn't do it ither
PB for joso :)
there we go nbt/nbs in 28 words
hey, what for

it5, joso :)
your unintentional typo for "either"
thanks sprite
ah, tnx for the i word sprite
*giggles*
not sure if you know already, carlee... I have compiled a babble dictionary and a list of babble stuff. It is all in my profile.
so I will be going to a book signing for Col Hadfield in a couple of weeks
oh...cool sprite...

( ahh been teaching math... loving the fractions)
well I'm going to amble off to bed, g'night ladies
night night joso...
night joso, sleep well dear man *hug*
wait..joso and crossy are the same person? LOL there is only 1 crossy...
some rather paranoia idea that Molly seems to have...
SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?! <facepalm>
yeah. But we laugh it off. We hope joso and crossy will both make it to the babble me4 this weekend.
oh speaking of babble me4..I wonder if indiajan and i are having lunch again...
we have been trying for a few months
oh that would be so nice
our schedules just have not coincided
( we live in the same city sprite... and it is not a big city...but our mutual commitments...)
sometimes it is harder to set up a meeting with someone in the same town as with someone who has to travel
ok... i am getting hangry
not hungry... hANGRY.... going to make an omelette and get the chilli sarted in the crock pot for dindin
hangry? So hungry you turn angry? I love it. Will add it to the dictionary if you don't mind
phantom: macrocephaly
hi o-o, am glad to see you.

Hi o-o, our icons complement each other

thanks Liz. I feel so much better. Now we can have our car fixed, bills are paid now, and we are making progress in the family therapy. Am so grateful.
i am .... you know carlee is hangry when food takes priority over first coffee of the day
Hi Carlee - and Chrissie too (wasn't ignoring you!)
I love the word, carlee. Have stolen it for the dictionary. I hope that is okay.
hi liz
Hope everything continues on a positive note for you sprite.
oh..no problem... that is one of our Appalachian trail words.... end of the days hike we were so hungry we were getting hangry....
we were due for a change, I think... things were rather hairy for a bit. But now we seem to be getting into a more positive stream.
it is a wonderful word. Captures the feeling exactly.
indeed it does :)
oh oh..sprite... speed bumps in life hun???
quite a few, carlee... severe issues with son and daughter, health issues, money issues, therapy very demanding, husband near burnout, car broken down ... but things are starting to clear up a bit. And the good news is, I didn't break down this time.
You're amazing, sprite - the stuff you've had to put up with recently! Don't know how you've done it!
good news indeed. Am sorry so much has gone wrong.... but..one day at a time... nothing stays horrid for forever
I had amazing support from my babble friends, Liz. That truly helped.
babble is great for that :D
that is so true, carlee. One day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time, and at some point you can look up and realise things are going better again.
Coming back from soul murder is just so difficult.
It really seems so.
too true, o-o. An ongoing battle for over 40 years now. But finally, finally seeing results. *hug*
i remember one hour at a time... and I remember the hell of that time in my life...I never want to go back but remembering reminds me that whatever I am going through now... I will survive because I survived that
amen, carlee. You did. You came through and now you know how incredibly strong you are.
Strong people - both of you :)
not strong... I never think of myself as strong...but capable...and relatively unflappable...
we are a strong bunch here in babble. You too, Liz... and you, o-o. Our zooz and crossy... rose and pug and joso... and many more. We all weathered quite a bit of battles.
and MRP too
i tend to just think of it as life... we all have our problems... we all have our speed bumps in life... one way or another... and so we adapt
good morning my friends:)
Hi
Hi Crossy
some adapt, some snap. Am so lucky to find support with my friends at really bad moments, so I can adapt and not snap.
hiya crossy :) *hug* How are you and Ms Elegant? Thanks for getting back to be about emailing joso... I hope you can make it to the Babble me4.
moring again joso ;)
<snort> <snicer>
*giggles* Evil, carlee!
snicker* even
lol
howdy,liz,carlee ((sprite)) etc.
lol,carlee,don't start now:)
anyhoooooo... the hangries are gone..enjoying a second cup of coffee and once done #3 will take the hound for his morn ing hike
i just couldnt resist crossy
sounds good. I am not getting anywhere with this darn grid, only halfway. Still sitting in bathrobe, planning to take a nice shower after babble and watching the hail come down.
ewwwww hail... I am in my jammies...is incrediby grey here... whats it like your way crossy?
Tough grid. Had several goes at it and am finally down to 64 but will give up soon for this evening.
wow, 64, great job, Liz.
i got my nbs/nbt a while ago and now I am just poking along... i have too much to do but felt like popping in and catchin gup
hello?
very late stRT
am really enjoying seeing you again, carlee.
Hi ruby :)
hi ruby :)
hello carlee
{{sprite}}
{{lizlin}}
thanks sprite.. I miss babble... and all the babblers (hugs) it has been a time thing...
hi ruby :) {{hugs}}
Every thought is a battle, every breath is a war.. and I don't think i'm winning anymore.
Keep on babbling Carlee :)
I fully understand, carlee. The good thing is, we will be here when you have a little bit of time and energy. And you will be always very very welcome :)
( just waiting for someone to finish so i can toss the pompoms)
I know that feeling, o-o. And it stinks. *hug* For what it's worth, you are winning. Because you don't give up.
140 words in, carlee. You can wait, but it will take up most of your day, I fear ;)
exactly sprite... when one day is too much...one hour... and celebrate each hour with a wee pat on the back..muster yourself and hit the next hour full on
Depression is like a war. You either win, or die trying.
jumping in
literally. But at least we are trying.
wow ruby, watch the waves, hun :)
oh..so anyway..was saying before I left..i willbe attending a book signing with col hadfield in a couple of weeks... will post pics to fb after the event...
sounds good, carlee
With 60 left, I think it's time to call it a night. Enjoy your days. Hugs to you all :)
g'night liz
night Liz, sleep well :) And dream even better.
the event sounds like it will be...large....cant wait actually
( him beoing our hometown hero)
carlee: will he be signing his autobiography?
you sound like Phil Ochs, o-o :)
{{crossy}}
My husband wakes me up during my (wonderful) dreams, so I never rembember them, just the nice feeling
yes sprite... I have the book but not opening it at all until he signs it
lovely, carlee. Really special!
i have been indulging in some graphic novels... change of pace from teh philosophy tomes of the last 2 years...
oh ruby, how lucky he wakes you up then... or you wouldn't remember dream nor feeling ;)
good job, carlee. Variety of spice and all that.
yes, but if he let me sleep, didn't get up at 5AM,I might have the additional pleasure of remembering the dreams
you can't know that, some people just don't.
sleeping in past 5 am is over rated... I dont remember what that is like
all I ant is 8 hrs left alone.
understandable.
time enough to sleep in the grave eh?
I used to sleep only a few hours a night. But now I sleep full nights and it is a blessing. I can understand you want to sleep, ruby. Can't you sleep downstairs, in 'my' room?
pretty much crossy... this week i think in total I got about 15 hours mon- fri and I woke up at 5 am
I think I'd rather be dust in the wind then, crossy :)
i am averaging 3-4 a night these days
that must be very hard, carlee!
that must be very hard, carlee!
poor carlee;((
it is life ruby...if I wake up... I start thinking... mum, school, the kids ( mine) the kids ( my class) my lessons, the drive, the onset of winter..money... and so on and so on and so on... and so no sleep
at the clinic they told us that to lose weight it is important to sleep enough hours. Never thought that would be related, but it seems to be.
I need 8 hrs to function adequately for all I have to do during the day. DH takes multiple naps, including during prime-time tele and I am too tired then to change bedrooms
theses last 5 weeks it is the drive ...in 18 hours I was almost taken out 3 times by a transport
i've got a new medicine to try, only been on it for about a week, but have hope that it will help me sleep better - it is a melatonin regulator
I take xanax 1/2 hour efore bedtime, otherwise I Wake up at two with all of carlee's anxieties plus many of my own!
is it just me or is it not going to be possible to find 45 c words
i have 34 and i cannot see how there can be ELEVEN MORE
oh got a trio
the whole grid is like that
You know lack of sleep can make you grumpy and foggy. You may not know what it can do to your sex life, memory, health, looks, and even ability to lose weight. Here are 10 surprising -- and serious -- effects of sleep loss. http://tinyurl.com/9hz2you
i listen to podcasts...or old radio shows fromt eh 40's and 50's
i hate when they tell you stuff like that. and you're like, well that's just great. i'm not TRYING to have insomnia!
and fortunately... with all the crap..i really really love my life right now....
one "fallig=ng asleepp method" is to find bingos, 7-letter words. How boring is that?
thanks o-o, will check that out.
17 ca
very true, hursh, it is not a choice one makes. And if you have to battle with it all the time, it is tough.
ok i need 3 more ca then
french notebook!
I count back, from say 1487, and count down for instance 8, then up 6, then 8 down again, up 6...
good morning everyone - up early, trying to be quiet but NEED coffee, bb in a couple of minutes
hi zambie, good morning
did everybody find the nifty me6/24?

yes
ah, the obelix stone :)
ok so 2 more ca and 3 more ch
while at my son's, for some strange reason couldn't get into my home account, am flosey
the small megasliths
I fight insomnia by working on my amnesia chronicles
hey flosey! Oh how nice to see you. You will meet with joso later this weekend, right? And maybe with crossy too?
hi flosey
lolol o-o... very nice one
wwhere is flosey? I didn't see her!
yes sprite, am really looking forward to meeting joso and possibly crossey
flosey = zambie, ruby
zambie = flosey today
I'm in Toronto ruby,
AAAH, i'M NOT "IN THE KNOW"
they are under orders to hug you from me, flosey, so don't let them get away without it :)
What about that nutso mayor, flosey?
never had a problem getting into my account from here before so created a temporary one so I could play
very smart. Glad to see you. Computers are funny things.
ah, ok sprite, will get extra hugs
o-o, thanks for the link. I have seen a paragraph I am going to translate for my clinic group.
oh my, that is the craziest, strangest case I've ever heard ruby - it's all over the TV - seems to me he should resign and get some help for his personal life
from here, it's all funny. But I imagine that in Toronto, such a wonderfully=fun city,it must be awful
going to get coffee, brb
can't be that awful if his approval ratings went up
marian berry clone
that's like the old mayor of Boston, Curley, I think, who was re-elected while he was in jail
did you hear about the 19 year old black girl who was shot in the back of the head in a predominantly white suburb of detroit after she knocked on the door seeking help after a car crash
that is horrible, hurshy
no ... but nothing surprises anymore
michigan has stand your ground laws so the person may not get much punishment. large percentage of the time force is seen as justified in white-on-black crime (of course you felt threatened!) and the person therefore gets off on stand your ground laws, but not when it is black-on-white.
omg hursh... omg.
that is very bad bad bad, hurshy
but the supreme court thinks we're past racism enough that we no longer need the voting rights act...
The GOP-controlled Virginia Board of Elections purged nearly 40,000 names from the state’s voter rolls before the last election

thanks dawg :)
as you deserve to be sprite
We're all proud of you too sprite, well done!
we all need affirmations, and a private cheer club
:) Doing my best, and realising I will probably drop off the train at some point again, but now I know that I can immediately get back on. They keep telling us: a misstep doesn't have to be a failure.
I love the cheers, to be honest. They make me feel proud of what I have done so far and give me courage to continue. Thanks, all :)
r + one who regrets his transgressions and seeks forgiveness: P*******
oh... good clue. Thanks o-o. Now I need to know what it means, of course, lol.
resistant, recalcitrant. Right.
can i get a clue for the first E please i keep getting words from the 2nd column E instead?
think of your challenge like babble, some days you finish in a flash, no help, no clues no list...other days you need the assistance of the group, the list and pray for a lot of oopsies! ;)

ec4/5 mlf, like the ec that repeats itself but change last letter to another vowel

yes, hursh

i thought maybe there was some fancy special term for a cigarette holder
cigarette holder ... he or she
Enfingers
no, I meant there are many words starting with en- that get another word behind it. Like en + ready money, en + anything holder, en + manacles, en + hunt. And plurals or persons who.
*grins* Right, o-o. When I still incidentally smoked a cigarette, people often exclaimed: "Hey, do you smoke??" and I always said: "No, that's my cigarette."

that would be a breakfast in hell for me scrabs
Hi jm
howdy jmc
breakfast is always hell to me. . . a cup of coffee and i am good
hi snuffy! *waves*
ugh, jmc.i cannot function without a good breakfast
it was tough for me growing up in the south. . . i needs to be awake a minimum of 3 hours before i can face food. . .
breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper
cup of coffee, and a bialy with butter and I'm good
(longer if i was drinking too much the night before)
Hello jmc!
oh
hey jilly
i cannot go to be with a full stomach.my acid relux can and often does cause it all to back up on me and it is dangerous
I want some fried eggs.
so,very light dinner,it at all
bed
sounds good invictus. . . getting to be about lunch time and i have been up since 6 getting my "crops" to the market. . . .
I'm not so good at frying eggs though.
i like scrambled eggs
not a fried guy
i can do anything with eggs.eggs speak my name:)
any breakfast food;)
try doing blindfolded eggs. . . get the pan hot add some butter and then drop in the egg. . .before the whites get completely opaque add a tiny bit of water and cover with a lid for a few minutes and then you get a pretty and cooked fried eggs. . .
i am big on eggs myself ru and crossy. . .
that's because you're a local yolk-al crossy
I want fried eggs on toast with cheese and dip it in my mama's gravy.
In waitress speak...that is 2 egss eyes closed jmc...
the yolks on you ru
I will try that! I grew up always frying eggs in bacon grease though. No, I don't weigh 500 lbs.
i', a yolk-al alright
bacon grease is good too invictus. . .
gravy ..on eggs?
that's a Okie texas thing isn't it bacon grease
back with some mixed berry mini-wheats
gravy on anything. . . especially a bread like product
*sniff* i wouldn't know ru. . .
My mama's gravy is good on everything.
hi jmc!

my dad used to cook with bacon grease too
there's a new place in NYC that only sells biscuits, hoping to try soon for biscuits and gravy
sa6 = Iroquois chief
My parents always had a coffee can of bacon grease. I have a glass jar of bacon grease. SETX here.
i just saw the best recipe for pepper and salt biscuits. . . .
same here he had a can of it too
i don't use enough grease to keep bacon grease around anymore like my parents did. . .
i make herbed cheddar biscuits that are pretty yummy
stats for the lowest H please
hi 6
that sounds good too ru. . . .
my first word
*stomach growls*
We use it mainly for eggs and whenever I try to attempt my mom's gravy, I use some then too.
Are yours better than Red Lobster's cheddar rolls? Those are delicious.
looked hi6 and yon before I found that, ty ruru
i rarely make gravy anymore. . . don't fry my steaks and chicken like i used to . . . .
ty snuffy
TY, Aloy
I make good gravy.. my grandma taught me how to do it as a kid.. I'm pretty good at it
(-: twisty one
we are not big on the the biscuit thing that seems so prevalant in the states.here ,if you want something like that with brekkies or dinner,it is fresh crusty rolls or croissants for brekkies and yorkie puds with a big dinner,or dumpling with chicken and dumplings or that sort of thing
who is snuffy?
i knew that second H had to be in is somewhere!
Mmmmm chicken and dumplings.
english muffins go good with brekkies of course
biscuits are good
aloyisius is Mr. Snuffalupagous's first name
there's a place in the east bay that makes great ones
biscuits are heaven. . .
oh
snuffy is kinda cute
fount of info on this site
however these lobster buiscuits i keep hearing about sound very, very interesting
:-) been calling her that for years now. . .
I think they called Charlie SHeen Snuffy too.. but that probably meant something else :D
yes and so often the information is about food! haha
oh boy
never heard that ru. . . i think you made that up
not one of my faves
i think it was sniffy for charlie sheen
who me?
lol lmc
jmc that is.. lol'ing too hard

Hi Rows

I am avoiding housecleaning by being here.
if there are henchmen what is a hench?
ah
sounds good
Good call scrabs
i'm avoiding lesson planning and writing articles by being here :P
any more ideas on the 1st ac6
i am avoiding work too. . . another important babble community value! haha
but slightly bothered by this lazy eye i've come to have overnight, due to a bug bite on my eyelid!
achies
whoopssorry
magzel: pain + **therlands
No magzel, that's not it
a chemical pain maybe mags?
hi erda
hi jmc
oh no! too bad about the bug bite there is so little you will want to put on your eye.
my clue and erda's were for the same word
thanks erda and belated hi to jmc
yeah at least it's not itchy
but it's swollen so it makes my lid extra big and exciting and makes me feel like my eye can't open properly
rows take a benedryle or other antihistamine before bed tonight and the mean while cold packs. . .
mostly i'm hoping it wasn't a mosquito carrying dengue fever
put a cucumber slice on it to draw the toxins
Tough grid, can't even get half way :(
hmm, maybe
a lot of denge fever in Honduras?????
could be a good excuse to buy cucumber... i love stir fry cucumber
go chrissie go!
yes jmc
especially here apparently
cucumber is a good idea too. . . it will also help rid the circles under you eyes. . .
we have to wash out our pila every 6 days to prevent it, and i've stocked up on the 25% Deet bug spray
really i am surprised to hear that. . .
thank you that was my missing a
well jmc i didn't know my circles under my eyes were that obvious :P
Oh dear Rows. Is there anthing you can take?
well make sure you get rid of standing water around the house . . . .
exactly, the reason for washing out the pila every 6 days
i was noticing little honey boo boo's circles. . . .
life cycle of a mosquito larva is 7 days
Chrissie i should be fine
thanks though
my sister wrote an article about them and i grew up in Houston. . .land to the bird sized mosquito. . .
a friend of mine sent me this citronella stuff from the Philippines recently, i should just start using that at night
aw well i am off to make me some lunch. . . .
bbl maybe
Enjoy jmc :)
okies
citronella will help.. but it isn't perfect
i just have to hope this swelling goes down in time for my vacation when i leave on thursday... and that no other bug bites my face anywhere before then
i'm going to Rochester, NY on Thursday and meeting a cute boy there
a swollen eye isn't so cute :P
unless he's a boxer
lol
Could have a pirate themed date
no he's not
haha
you could bring a parrot with you
and an eyepatch
♥♥ for Rows!!
not sure US immigration would love that so much
hey Mimi! :)
how are you, my love?
Doing well, thanks, dear. Luckily, virtually no mosquitoes here in the desert, thankfully, as they LOVE me.
oh good!
they love me too... maybe i should hang out in the desert
i have looked at some schools in Africa for potential jobs next year...
You're welcome here any time, Rows.
aww thanks :)
what's new? i feel like i haven't seen you here in a long time
Be careful about Africa, though...so much turmoil and disease there. (This is the Mom in me talking.)
i know
but i do have friends who have spent time there... i feel like it would be worth it
The big good news is my daughter and I are on speaking terms again and it makes me so happy...I've missed my "baby" girl.
though i was looking for a place to spend maybe 2 or 3 years after i move away from Honduras, since I'd like to kinda put down roots somewhere or make a 'home' somewhere... Africa wouldn't be the place i don't think
aww, that is so great, Mimi!
congratulations :)
If I could pick anywhere, I think I'd want to go to New Zealand.
NZ would be nice... doubt they'd let me stay there very long as an expat though
since i'm a teacher... they could get plenty of English-speaking teachers there within the locals
You're lucky to be able to pretty much write your own ticket as to where you go. That's wonderful and I'm so envious!
i have two schools in Taiwan and one in Vietnam who have been emailing me and potentially will interview me though :)
eh, it is only to a degree
there comes a point where i have to accept whatever job i get, wherever it happens to be...
so i might try to find a job in a country of my choosing, but i might not find one, and then an opportunity may arise somewhere i never expected to go
that's what happened with both China and Honduras
but this time, since i am more experienced and better qualified, i am trying to be more choosy and pick where i go to an extent
Vietnam might be the better choice since Taiwan has such conflict with China going on...but I'm sure you're well aware of that.
esp. if i think i want to stay there for 2 or 3 years
well actually i'm not, Mimi, and i think that because of the fact that i'm not, it would be fine... these things don't really affect foreigners' lives very much
its all the lead based paints that's affecting china :D
I must admit that even with all our political and economic troubles, I wouldn't want to be out of this country for long periods of time. But would certainly love to visit MANY places. I have open invitations to stay with people all over the world if I can just afford to get there!
just getting antsy for an actual interview to come out of these emails though
emailing with headhunters is getting old
Of course, my first trips next year will be to visit crossy and ruru...OK with you, ru?
that's awesome Mimi :)
especially in Africa Rows :D
LOL, ruru...good one.
lead based paints? i really just hated the pollution there
i felt so unhealthy living there.. i got sick all the time and constantly had a cough because i have asthma
brb
but maybe i'm missing a joke
I was talking about ruru's "headhunters in Africa" joke, Rows.
You have to pay attention to ruru every minute as he loves to zing these at us!
I finally passed halfway! Now I must begin the housecleaning.
oh haha i thought he was talking about lead paint!
So, I guess that is hi and bye, Scrab?
Yes, Mimi, I have a lot of work to do...that I have delayed for too long. My Shop-Vac is going to get a workout!
Loving this grid...complex and interesting for me. Decided to take a break from transcription today and do the rest tomorrow. My house needs cleaning, too, Scrab, but I really HATE cleaning. I found a lady who will do the hard stuff (bathroom and kitchen including floors) for $50---HIRED!
we have a cleaning lady coming in today to clean our house... apparently the school pays for her to do this every few months, but i really miss having a regular cleaning lady like i did in China!
i had a housekeeper who would come in twice a week and do ALL the chores
I've always hated cleaning (love to cook, though) but now it's very difficult for me since the heart attack. I just don't have the stamina anymore. Working on it, though....gotta get back up on stage and sing....miss it and am such a show-off!
aww
Whenever I belt out class rock songs, I can almost feel my voice teacher rolling over in her grave...and it gives me such perverse delight!
classic rock, that is.
hehe :)
Well, must attend to some things. So good touching base with you, Rows! Keep us posted on your travels and on the potential new honey! Big hug.
you too! haha he's not a potential new honey, but he is a good friend :)
*hugs*
take care!

LOL! Hi, Crossy. Glad you enjoyed it.
lol
I've had that one up for a while. I guess you've been too busy with your nose buried in text books.
How goes the college studies?
goes very well.i am kicking arse in English, but on December 2nd, i break for 5 weeks of math and that is my shaky subject
then in the new year it is back to english classes
*shudders at the thought of college math* Maybe get a tutor?
they actually have a on site class where if what you are taking gets to crazy for you you can slide over there, bolster your skills and then go back to the class
So, you do more math to better understand math.
*double shudder*
yes,but they tone it down a bit for you untill you get get over what has you stumped
mm,seems i have picked up a stutter.math does that to me as well;)
Well, that's charitable. What type of math will you be required to suffer through?
they are going to surprise me
That sounds positively demonic.
probably the stuff that goes like this "if you throw a triangle out a car window while going 20 mph, how fast was the elephant going when it ran over the cheetah?
What if it turns out to be calculus? I would drop to the floor and start twitching violently in that case.
greeting s all might I get a clue for m 6 please
me 6/24 sounds like a old civilization standing stone marker
Hee hee. My brain would explode long before things got that complicated.
Sorry, pink. Don't have that one yet.
ty cross and judi
and i forgot, the cheeta is x,the elephant is y and the triange is orange,so find q
rt
Well, now the answer is obvious. It's the square root of WTF?
Gotta go paint some junk. See y'all later! *POOF*

Ah4/5! Listen up! Will not be saying my oohs and aa4/5 over fireworks since there is no way I am going to finish the en6/18 grid. Here is a story of clues for today's date November ni5/12, 2013. One time I was hi 4/5d as a ch 4/9 to work the ni 4/4 shift at a fancy restaurant which was a disaster. After customers ate my food, they had a bad re 5/12ion. Their faces would become as 5/12 and they got belly ac4/6s.One time a customer made such a huge sc5/12 that he went to a hospital. My bad cooking ch 5/12d away the customers so I was fired after ni 4/4 days. After that I went to work in a fast food ch4/6 that had a bad st5/14 from the dirtine4/4 of the place. That was a bad experience also. I refused to wear their ugly ha 4/5 ne 4/4s and sh 5/12s and pants.I was in deep sh 4/5 for defying my boss.He fired me on the te5/12 day. My hubby wants the laptop. Husband tr5/10 to take the computer away every time I babble. I'm going to give it to him before he gets into a sn4/4. I'm going to get out of my ch5/14 and go watch the movie Ch5/6ty Ch5/6ty Bang Bang. Th4/5 I'll be back to give some more hi4/5s before I reti4/4 for the ni4/4. Be back later on tonight.

Hello, Bichon :-)

Hi Annie and zooz
Then when you list you find you've missed easy words, just got, what grows on your head!
OUr foster dogs came last evening and we're very busy
then you have a very busy household
I don't list until half way at least and it is a struggle to get there
I had listed with 37 more to find..down to 12 more to find.
How lovely bichon
Impressive zooz, I listed with 87 to go and still need 55
The female just had her sub-luxating patellas fixed and she needs to be watched so she doesn't overdo it.
sorry, last thing on my current list is a ride in a submarine
Wow, I take it you're not claustrophobic!
nope.to a point anyways
i may have to do it through subfunsafaris.com since i do not think the military will let me on one of theirs
submarinesafaris.com
I wouldn't want to ride one of Canada's secondhand subs anyways
Some people are putting their names down for a one way ticket to goto mars...not for me thanks...lol
lol,nor would i,joso,it is used junk that the british navy did not want
oh,joso,my beloved and i will be there for lunch tomorrow
Why would people want to go to Mars. There's nothing there but dust and rocks

I'm having one of those random miscellaneous days. I decided, randomly, to clean the porch. Found a pile of bills from 1973-1989. Read and shred. Found the missing pruning shears, clipped the raspberries
re9, share the flue, again
reading old bills is interesting - takes you back to what was happening
*!* ta da *!* - ty for all the great clues - would never have finished without them :)
found some apples, made apple crisp, except there was no brown sugar, so made brown sugar with white sugar and molasses, spilled the corn starch. This led to cleaning the counter....
pretty soon it's 4:23 and nothing is actually finished, except I am pretty sure the apple crisp will be done in another half hour....
congrats Nan!
doesn't sound like you sit still much harp
congrats nan
Good morning all :)
well i have plantar fasciitis so if i can do the task sitting down, i do. That's why I took time to shred. And make apple crisp.
morning Liz
hi liz
painful, harp -- took a year for me to get rid of it
did you get orthodics for it?
I'm on my 9th month now cyber. It sucks.
At the same time I'm making plans for a walking trip in Ireland next summer....
very painful, stretching my foot back (constantly) against a wall solved it for me
Yes I have orthotics, night splints, creams, pain pills, stretches, physical therapy exercises, massages, and other implements of torture.
can anyuone clue the th 7/8 please?
I stretch but then sometimes I think I over-stretch and it gets worse.
the anti-inflammatories wrecked my stomach so now I can't take my pain pill of choice.
I found the orthodics in my golf and walking shoes helped. Also wearing sandals with good arch support around the house all the time helps.
(but the snowshoe trip was EPIC!)
Joso clued unfder MLFAN

half way, time for a break
Hello all. just starting and will enjoy the puzzle while staying warm here in the great Northwest where it is misty and grey, calm seas with salmon jumping as they begin their journeys up to their spawning grounds.
how is life in a travelogue stid
Great as I can stay here and watch the changes out my window.
:)
I just like to let people know how the seasons change and what preparations I do or responses I make to said change.
Good evening all.
Stidgemere, took the snowblower in for its tune-up today.
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
Ah, wisely played wht. A snowblower must be ready!
hello babblers
Good evening TO
Hello minver and TO.
When I was in Peru last year, people were fascinated by the idea that seasons change, leaves fall off the trees, etc.
That, and in the winter it gets dark at 4:30 p.m. and stays dark for 16 hours.
hello wht and gmere
I went to Cuba once and people were fascinated with the pictures of me standing by the snowpile at the end of our driveway that was over my head.
Satch. Is not a word omg?
this rid is challenging
what does it mean, changer?
hi folks!
hey welk!
Hi peep
getting a rest from dancing tonight
Satch doesn't it mean a trumpet player?
satchmo :)
I actually miss winter...partially because of the hot flashes...
I thought like a purse or something
eek - mimi, spend some time up here in alberta, you won't be missing winter when your nose hairs freeze
Actually sounds like heaven, welki!
door's open
I guess not
and here we are, thinking how nice it would be to someday be "snowbirds"
I'm getting old and cranky...now so upset that I need to keep doors and windows closed because of other people allowing children to run riot....need some peace and quiet. Hey, welki, visit any time!
Where is my cabin on the mountaintop?!!
satchel is a type of carry-on bag. They were made from carpet hence the term "carpet-bagger." Not complimentary.
your cabin, sorry to say, isn't a cabin - it's a house in calgary - but we do have a nice site on a lake in central alberta. unfortunately, it's rarely quiet - except in winter when we ice fish and during the week (in seasonal weather) when everyone's still in town
i want to go to AZ. not so fond of FLA
TO, you're welcome any time. At least we don't have humidity.
florida appeals to me more, because it's near the ocean. i've been away from the sea a long time
7 hours to the Pacific here, welki....I miss it every day, though.
bad memories. welk. need to go create some new, good ones.
We should have some sort of winter Babble vacation exchange. Those who pine for the northwoods could spruce up their own domicles and go north for a firm date with winter.
Hello welki! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
gmere, how many people do you think are pinin for winter besides mimi and scrabs?
no sprucing up here - what you see is what you get. and you'll see all sorts of things - dust bunnies, pupkus on the windows....
what?
There you go, stid! Great idea!
pupkus - what dogs leave on windows when they put their noses against them
I would think that scabs would get enough winter, unless she moved recently.
Well, we don't go for quantity, it is quality here in Babble land. So we have two happy people and the others are happy in place.
Or Scrabs
i'll buy that
lol welk i did not know you had doggies
Just two seasons in Phoenix...heaven and hell....just out of Hell and now in Heaven.
stidg lives in one of the most beautiful places in the world - would gladly exchange houses for holidays
oh yes - two of them, a golden retriever and a smooth coated border collie :)
welk, you can spend the winter practicing dacning :)
i've been golfing in the basement :)
uh, o k...
Stid, are you in the Pacific NW? I agree,,, may be relocating next year.
brb - laundry buzzer :(
Gone now...have a good evening, everyone!
Yes. Mimi we're on Puget Sound.
beb, dinner bell and laundry buzzer al at once!
Good night TO.
Bye 72 Temple Owl! I'll see you tomorrow in the log maybe

Hi Babble folks.

Hello origami! How are you doing today? Welcome to chog
I'm hanging in there! Another beautiful fall day here. And you?
Babble Blindness strikes deep. Into your life it will creep. It starts when you can't see a word. Staring you right in your face.
Can I get a clue for any of the re8"s
I am well. I gave up on grid HOURS ago,but have clue story in my profile if you need to use it origami. I have not done one of those in awhile since I only babble on the weekend.
Oooh ... I'm headed to that story!
one means to give an illness to someone again... to re****** them (plural letter)
re 8/60 word is to pass your germs to someone else again.
ty pen and min.
yw
re + head insect + go camping in a t***...
yw
ty pen. that is a new word for me.

can someone clue the ac 8 please?
It is the dull pain you get after someone re9's you.
ok now pls clue that re 9?
The ac8 is the state of having a dull pain.
plural of the 8 owl!
re8/9 was just clued, TO
i'm just missing the firs re8.. anyone?
I'm missing that to, Dorens

May I please have a clue for re5-14 the 2nd? Thanks
eh. did you know that m night shyamaln wrote abook on education? i am reading it now.
what sort of book? he's the film director, right?
Peach, it is to sew up the bottom of a dress again.
Thanks so much, wht.
yes. it is titled "I Got Schooled: Th Unlikely Story of HOw a Moonlighting Movie Dicrector Learned the Five Keys to Closing America's Education Gap"
hmm -- sounds interesting, but i think closing america's education gap is a very complicated and unlikely thing to happen
I was at the nadir of despair about finishing this grid when I found the ze6/7 combo.
haha
the very chutzpah made me pick it up. but he says it is NOT all that complicated, that the key was examining data for successful schools and finding what they had in common, screening for noise
oh my…. how about the culture of poverty????
successful schools usually have parents quite different from the majority of those in failing schools. period.
i do not know the keys as yet. just some likely hypotheses that he has thrown out. like that charters are the answer.
right. and when charters have to take kids whose parents don't care where they go and don't bother to apply to them, then we can talk about charters
and that class size is relevant
sorry. i am very very jaded these days
May I please have a clue for tr6-18 the 1st? Thanks
One of the reasons charter schools look so good is that they get to toss out the kids that do not perform well.
i don't understand the issue well enought to know what that means. however, i was quote surprised to discover that my third cousins are attending a charter in Lodi, did not know one was there.
that plus who applies to them in the first place??? the ones whose parents care
he also found data to support that class size is not really relevant
and that is as far as i read
I would hazard a guess that the quickest way to improve the worst schools would be to provide a job with a living wage to all the parents.
NM found it.
and mandatory classes for certain parents
i think i want to read his argument in toto before i would have any thoughts on the issue
still begging for the first re8
i did have a discussion on common core with my sil that was very enlightening.
I still need that too, dorens
I also would like a clue for the last th7,36
someone will take pity on us eventually, wht
wht do you have hi6/24? here or there
Just found the th7, dorens. That was it.
i cannot believe enable takes in6/21 and not the word with an en
i can believe anything about enable
i was in nnj for a couple of days this week
me too
To, try that en6,21 again. The only in6,21 in the grid has a corresponding en6,21
i think it is time for a break.
Hang on Dorens, I am trying to figure out how to clue it. reascent
i just need that darned re8 and i can go read my book
ty ga. That was a very straightforward clue.
haha.. thanks so much peach. you figured it out!
Damn! I was trying to do it right....I'm just not a good cluer.

ca6-21 the 3rd please....thanks
hi, all. My husband asked me out on a date today, and took me to our favorite jeweler...I traded in one of my old rings for a new one. The new one is 2ct! He told me he had been planning this since summer for our anniversary. He actually proposed to me again in the jewelry store...and the jeweler, he and I all were misty eyed.
how sweet angel. I was wondering what he was up to
How wonderful, Angelsong!
How sweet Angel! What a lucky woman -- and obviously a very smart and lucky man!
Going to make an omelet....bbl.
gap - 3rd ca6/21 is an anagram of 'cranes'.
Angel - how lovely!
the ring I upgraded from was 1/2 ct. so, for our anniversary, he gave me a plush kitten, a Love figurine, our marriage license, triple matted and framed, a heart pendant with a small diamond, a Swarovski crystal cat, and this new ring.
Wow, Angel! Can I borrow him for our next anniversary?!
lol, Mom
*starts rent-a-hubby business*
the first 7/26, and 8/50 please?
BTW, Angel, congratulations! How long have you been married?
Thanks much, Jacula. Was making an omelet, so didn't get right back.
7/26 and 8/50 what? mab?

Sorry I've been in and out, but I've been up really late talking to my daughter who is in Lisbon, Portugal and who is having a bit of a hard time.
y/w, Gap.

Hope things clear up for her, Jacula. I know it is difficult when they are far away.

the act of putting something into something...

harp - she's flying home tomorrow. It was a week's trip for a conference, but she went with someone we suspected was a delusional nutter and the woman has now turned out to be just that. Won't go into more detail as it's a long story, but me, her boyfriend, her dad etc., will be glad to see her safely home.
Thanks much, pen and harpjane.
yw...heading out....g'nite all...
'Night Pen.
Sweet dreams, pen.
me6-24 please.....thanks....only 2 left
Any more clues needed?
in6/24?
gap - me6/24 is literally 'long stone' - or try a word for males + US 'hello' + a consonant.
those kind of situations are always tough, jac
harp - in6/24 is the plural of the imperial measurement that men always think is longer than it is - i.e. fish caught and 'equipment' etc. lol
Thanks much, Jacula.
thanks, jac, lol
y/w gap and harp.x
fe5-18 please....thanks.....the last one
Don't fe5 me in
Nice clue, harp! Though I'm now going to be singing that for hours...
lol jac
Thanks, harpjane.
That was the last for this grid. Will check emails and see you all at the flip....thanks once again.
Well done, Gap. *~*~*~*~*~*
Any more clues needed?
sh5/18?
It's all very well for my daughter, who may or may not now be asleep on a sofa in a hostel in Portugal, but I've gone from being ready to go to bed to wide awake and worrying as only a mother can. :(
harp - sh5.18 - bundle of hay or straw.
ah, thanks
Now singing 'Bringing In The Sh**ves'. *sighs*
go back to Don't F5 me in
much more fun to sing!
LOL!
I dunno, harp! I have many happy memories of harvesting the hay. :)
'We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sh....' LOL
:)
help!! please.. re 8...first one. thanks
i don't think i have it yet
The second time Hillary went up Everest ..
helenary - 1st re8 - to rise up into the air again. (Or rather to describe having done it)
Hi Torg. Just listening to Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters singing 'Don't Fe5/18 Me In' here.
thank you Jac and Torg
little know fact-that song was not actually written by Cole Porter, although it was incorrectly attributed to him
Heyas kids ..
Think I might search YouTube for a favourite Jimi Hendrix track now, Purple Ha4/10. lol
Harp, I've read the Robert Fletcher actually wrote the song.
Maybe Rory Gallagher's Sh4 Kicker ..
torg - Good one!
I never remember the name, jac
the last en7?
Lots of clues we could give re songs in this grid.
harp - last en7 - last going intos.
DON'T BREAK MY HEART, MY............la la la HEART....
thanks
LOL, Harp.
Is that don't go breaking my heart, or don't break my heart again, anyone who had a heart, or... any number of songs.
It's only Love Can Break Your Heart so sang Neil Young.
no Billy Cyrus
>>>> Breaky Heart
Ah, boot 'n' scoot. I went to a line dancing class just once. lol
I also went to a flamenco class just once. I would love to be able to dance, but I fear only my right side has rhythm. :(
boot and scoot sounds like a cowboy who has the runs
I might yet excel at belly dancing. :)
ruru - that's what I thought, but it is the term they use.
fixed with imodium and a beer I guess
boot and scoot sounds to me like someone who has trodden on an autumn dog turd (one you know is there but cannot find, due to all the fallen leaves).
*moseys in in her sh** kickers* howdy y'all
You call autumn 'fall' in US and Canada. It's a good and descriptive term.
any of those sound like a good description of that particular song....
also sounds like a dance in a gay men's leather bar :D
that's why they call boots sh** kickers in the West. . .'cuss you kick a lot of sh** when you work around horses and cattle
..and so we descend into smut. Loving it. roflol
*shocked look*
See? I told you all most of this grid can be clued with songs.
Oh get over yourself JM :D
haha
jmc - don't be a hypocrite. lol
i is a sensitive girl. . . .haha
Yea, jmc.. right...
*coughs*
what's the fun in life if you can't be a hypocrite among friends

Tell you what.. I'll go for Surfing USA... which is what I am doing on here at present, since I'm on the net and talking to people from USA. :)
:-) i'm going to leave, ol' texas now, they got no use for the long horn cow; they plowed and fe***d the cattle range, the people there are all so strange. . .

I wan't a beach boy fan
no i had that life in Houston. . . I like seasons with flowers and fall leafs . . . .i even like a limited amount of snow
I preferred the Beatles and the Stones
there's a place that i can go and tell my troubles too. . .
I loved The Beatles (had to, I'm related to one of them, but that had no bearing on my love). Loved The Stones and also loved The Beach Boys.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3Q0kWP\nk3uI
and buddy holly and frankie valli too
We have good srf here in UK, too. In Devon and Cornwall. My surfers are in North Devon and they even go out on Christmas Day.
Bet it's cold there in the water
really. . .there is almost no surf in texas because the continental shelf goes out about 10 miles into the Gulf of Mexico. . . you can walk that far and keep your head mostly above the water. . .
Yea, ruru, but what a buzz!
maybe the gulf stream warms it some?
gulf stream comes up your coast jm.. the arctic rolls through england
coriolis effect and all
no the gulft stream goes up to england . . .it is part of what keeps it more temperate. . .
the coldest I've ever been diving was in Washington
the gulf stream goes up to New England you mean
the Gulf stream goes up to Olde England, as jmc said
no england. . . http://tinyurl.com/k3mtmjh
i did not make this up! haha
Here's Andy from North Devon surfing an 80ft wave in Portugal in the aftermath of Jude. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\novHDjDg2MTY

Yup, Mr. Ponce discoverd the gulf stream.
oh, i have some ri's also

assuming all i have left are "to do over" words, i should be good to go
it doesn't always split off and head to England Jilli
the currents also bring cold arctic waters down past england and spain (primarily)
haha boy does ru hate to be wrong. . . we love you even if you didn't know about the gulf stream
Dat's tue, ruru.

I see now that it's nearly 6am - flip time for the grid here in UK. I might as well sta up for it now, but will not view the chog because too many clues are thrown about then and I much prefer to go my own way (as Fleetwood Mac sang) in the beginning.
see you at the flip, or at least you'll see me, jac!
see you later then Jac.. yes. clues and stats go flying in random then
