Hello all
ty cray
hi jilli
busy day here -- proofs for book arrived
book? a new book?
have you finally written your life story Jilli!!?? Hooray
no,lynn, this is a reprint of my Great Dane book.
nice jilli more royalties.. good for you
It won't interest anyone here -- it's called The Time Traveller: the development of the Great Dane and is a history of the breed since its first registrations, with pedigrees and pictures going way back.
Good that the demand is still there Jilli - now we'll all just wait patiently for YOUR story. PS the dance I saw you talking about yesterday is here - weird
ruru, I hope I live long enough to breqk even on this -- it's a print-on-demand publisher and I had to pay to get it done.
wow.. i'm sure there are people who want it
hey, thanks for the dance, lyn!
oh yes, there are people all over the world who want it, thanks to Facebook's Great Dane groups -- serious breeders, judges, etc.
I'll buy the first edition of your life story
nice thought, ruru, but...
I want a signed first edition too...and make sure you have that amazing photo of your father in Egypt on the jacket
I should write a book on puns
fancy you remembering that, lyn! I guess it was when we had icon themes that you saw it?
Yes. It was wonderful Jilli...a photo that could not be taken again...I am sure you have many more.
anyone find the last 7?
What is that voice recognition software that will 'write' what you say...you should look into that Jilli. You always have such amazing stories to tell of your childhood etc
dragon naturally speaking (I think is the name)
yes - that's the one
ru 6/33
si 6/30
lyn, I don't mind typing. I just don't seem to have the time any more. When I did my book I had a husband who was very helpful -- now I'm alone and a lot older and have to do everything around the house and such.
un 6/33
<---feeling inept tonight
me too, ruru. This is a hard one.
very tough one
I am not finding much
HI all and no disagreement from me!
Hello Everyone :)
hi liz and pug -- and dee
Hi Jilli
I understand Jilli - when you have time look at the Dragon software - seems it would make such an undertaking so much easier. I think we all like typing but it is a bit off putting thinking that you would need to sit down for hours
Hi Liz and Pug
Hi Lyn
I have on 7 and sa 7... the other 7?
(now trying to get husband to buy it for himself - he is trying to write something and it is a bit painful to watch him "hunt and peck")
????? Wish I knew!
also sa - a highly flavored sausage
ty bro!! looking
ty broll - and for the great clue :)
note to self *study sausages*
yw - I found it in my scrabble dictionary
weirdo dy 6
lyn, I sit down for hours anyway! I have lots of jobs to do on the computer for local occupations. In fact, I should be writing the report about the duplicate bridge club results right now! I've also done a copy of the journal my grandfather's second wife's wrote about their escape from the Boxer rebellion in 1900 when they were missionaries in China -- did this for my immediate family as a Christmas surprise -- now my many cousins in the UK and Australia want copies. Busy busy.
actually study sausages didn't come out that well :D
I prefer typing to talking -- nice to be able to change one's mind about how to word things.
found the tasty sa 7/52, but not the sausage one :(
salami isn't in the grid :-(
ty ru for the dy
ty Dee - now have 2 x 7s :)
wtg
I only have 4s and 5s
sa4.88 we call them frankfurts here
it's a weird one I never saw before - what you do with money + metal al***
sa7.48 that is
If you enjoy a flavour, Jilli, you might sa 6 it and then add a sometimes vowel for the 7.
I guess I knew the spicy sausage because they're sold in fish and chip shops in the UK.
ty liz -- I should have seen that -- even thought of it. Too tired, I guess.
Glad to have helped, Jilli.
new word for me...
Is the 8 connected to on 7 (which I still don't have)?
would someone clue the ol word please
Lickety says the 8 is di8/50
ty Jilli :)
ol 6 chemistry = any member of the alkene series.
So I guess not!!!
*note to self.. study chemistry and sausages *
ol + abbrev for east + fish part
an Australian expression not used much anymore... "fair suck of the sav" ...meaning you've had your fair share etc
thank you dee
making progress now
ty Dee
thanks, dee.
and g'night y'all. it's much later than i realized. :)

Hopes she doesn't look like Jack Kaufman
Rose I changed my icon in support of your upcoming visit to hospital-lol
Klugman...God dang auto correct
yeah, I don't think starting an interview with 'Hi-ho! in a Kermit voice would endear me especially
but hey, maybe it could work ;)
lolol...i love it....made me really chuckle, and don is laughing too
Did you have the cold coming on before the interview?
well jbp depends on the type of job
nope/, not at all, ruru. I came home and thought, I'll just take a little nap...
and yikes!
well, I think I would need a different resume for 'that type of job' Pug, and also a different interview suit.
Hi ho would work if you are applying to be a pimp...
at least I hope so
heh.
....back to that black pit between my ears :D
lol
or these ladies that uses the phone to intertain men--I think they like that throaty rasping voice

Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. ~Friedrich Nietzsche
I find the monsters within are the worse to battle
He also said "Be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one" lol - which is quite apt for THIS grid!!

oh joso, that is a lovely one, thanks
Patsy Cline has a beautiful singing voice.Had to listen to it till the end of the song.
it's like popcorn, one leads to the next, saw nilson's lime in the coconut as I looked up the last one, could go on forever
true, joso
rose, try this one: http://tinyurl.com/kdf5ggf
couldn't resist, joso, found it on youtube. Another classic.
I prefer that version, Joso, Than the version done by 'doctor and the medics'.
that was a lovely dance, o-o, thank you.
have you seen the point zooz, nielson's animated fairy tale
Do you have a link, Joso?
they call the wind ... http://tinyurl.com/ltbjc8x
no, don't know if it is out there, was just asking, I'm a big nielson fan
Then no, Joso, Sorry chap.
Woohoo another link..off i go!
ringo and nielson also did a dracula muical, horrible, horrible, actors both, and a poor movie, but a great soundtrack

bye rose, sleep well. You have mail, btw. :) *hugs*
g'nite rose
be well, Rose
oh wow, I like that one too, o-o.
What word begins with "t," now usually implies aptitude or ability, and has an earlier sense referring to an ancient unit of weight and money"?

lol! Joso, this is amazing. At school, when I was maybe 13, we had this teacher who sometimes taught from songtexts. We had a song about points one day and I never could find it again. And now I have! It is "Everything's got 'em"
from the same movie sprite
yes, I just found it thanks to your link. Had this brainwave that maybe it was from this movie and googled it.
o-o, you make me happy. I love that song. Good ole R&R.
hi, all. feeling much better today. I had a stomach virus yesterday that was miserable.
hi Angelsong, that is nice

first snow of the season but at least it's better than endless rain and gloom
:)) soon you will be able to make a snowman for the puppies to raise a leg to:)
Raffie would probably eat it and Rufie would try to "love" it
lol! just had a vision of one of your giant dogs trying to get over friendly with a snowman
actually, Rufe is very discreet, Sometimes, he gets visibly worked up, but never behaves badly
yes,one must be discreet in these matters ,especially if the intended recipient is "cold" to the idea lol
and, on that note, bad net is going to read the paper in front of the roaring fire
you have a nice night ,ruby
this is just early afternoon! dinner is already cooking, however
actually it is about 6 hours ahead of us? around lunch time?

Tis Nef
Thanks, bichon. I started out thinking it was fairly easy; but slowed to a crawl after 25-30 words
hi all!
Hi sue. How are you doing these days (I haven't been here when you've been on lately)
we are good, nef! We are headed to Hilton Head for Thanksgiving week and are looking forward to some warmer weather there.
Sounds wonderful! :-)
We are a little worried about Frank, as his tumor antigen levels were up, but they want to check them again before getting too excited about it
will keep him I'm my thoughts and prayers, sue.
BTW, I read you are having thumb trouble?
thanks - we are trying not to get too agitated but it's not easy
with all he's been through; I understand
oh, I have arthritis in my thumb, the shot seems to have kicked in now - it feels pretty good (better than before the shot, which was the idea)
I had surgery for the thumb "basilar joint arthritis" last year on the right; kind of dreading having it on my left though (I'm a lefty)
the ortho told me that eventually the shots will quit working and then I'd have to think about surgery; I don't want to get the thumb fused, though, as that would make it very hard to play the piano
I had "trigger thumb" surgery about 10 years ago, which seems to have fixed it completely - very pleased about that!
kind of sucky how all these parts gradually quit working, though!
Sorry, my grandson just came and asked me to play with him; I showed him your picture after saying I was talking to a "girlfriend" in this game and he just looked at me like I was nuts!
:-) give him a big hug for me!
Old age isn't for sissies, is it?
will do! At least he's *trying* to keep me young
(His mother wants him to be with him; she just made him go downstairs with him instead of being with me.)
ok, must go get some work done, talk to you later!
Bye, sue. Take care of yourself (and Frank)!
I need to go to. Just got to half way, BBL

Way to go, sue..... if you're still here !! I was playing with the chat box closed.
I have 10 left
mm,cat just did a power jump 3/4 of the way up the wall and caught himself a spider snack. sounded crunchy
dessert :-) Hi, crossy
howdy,diane:))
trying to figure out a silly little problem... my computer was in sleep mode last night, but it still does updates. My clock is gone and my google gadgets, e.g. temperature is in BRIGHT PINK !! I have no idea what happened.
interesting and odd:(
i do not have mine set for auto updates.i like to know what is going on and update only what i wish to
I'm going to reboot and see what happens.... also, Explorer 11 is trying to invade me !!
yes,when in doubt reboot first
Be back later !
** finito ** last word AN 6/21
yaaa for teach!
crossy.... I checked the overnight updates on the computer... and Explorer 11 had been installed!! So, I uninstalled it and all is back to normal.
explorer and i have had issues for years.so i have used google chrome for the most part
The funny thing was though... when computer came back on, I had about 15 analog clocks all over my screen from all my attempts to try to add it back in again. The bright pink lettering is gone too !!
maybe turn off auto updates and just set it to notify you.then you can check the list to decide what you want
I use google chrome for quite a few things, but it is still not my default. And yes, I have to go find the update controls.... I forget where it is.... LOL
found it !!
yaaa!! was just looking for you
under start/controlpanel/system and security/windows updates
and now it says: Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them ! DONE
yaaaaaa!!!!!
I used to have my computer set that way ages ago because I used to play a game that accumulated points for days if you allowed it to.... If computer updated itself, you would lose all your points !
Anyhow, all is well..... it's 2:49 jere amd -18 degrees!
here, even !
4:50 pm here and minus 1c
It was -25 this morning with a wind chill to -31 Brrrrr.
you westerners get all the good stuff early.you have to pay for that warm wind you get later on when we are in an ice box here in central ontario:))
We just get the upper edge of the chinook winds if we're lucky, however that type of up and down weather is hard on people. I'd rather it maintain an even temperature, even if it is cold.
you are quite right.the up and down is terrible
did you get your flu shot, diane?
The chinook winds usually miss us by about 3 hours ( about 290 km ) and yes crossy, we did get our flu shots :-)
corssy and family also got the shot last week
I'm off to add some more good stuff to my soup...grid is finished but I might be back later :-)

Hi again everyone. I still hate this grid.
Hi Nef, I finished and I hate it
That was my last word annie!
Hello nef...
mine too, Jilly
Hi Jilly and Annie. Jilly, I'm going to message you on FB about a Neuro magazine I find very helpful
Where the heck is Molly?
What does the 8 start with? Is there a 7 that pairs with it?
di8, no matching 7
the 8 is di
Thanks again.

bye dear babblers

hasta, annie, g''night.
Bye Annie. Have a nice evening!
hi, jeewhiz and nef.
yikes, dc! Isn't that a bit early yet?
yes, yes it is. I felt bad typing it, but it just flowed.
It did flow nice. :-) (I just dug out the Christmas cards today myself)
hehehe
Hi there DC!
I made a tasty Jain meal! Only the 2nd time. Cooking w/out any alia or root veggies is a challenge.
hi, JJ :)

The ma ending is "over the top."
thanks sting. Just couldn't think of another way to say that
Nice to see you Nef. Sometimesit helps to bounce clues off each other.
sorry, now spell check is changing words on me. Stidg.
Very true, stidg.
I have 25 words left and need to list. I do not like this grid (thank goodness it's short!)
My computer has worked doubly hard today scanning some paperwork and I need to do some checking on some other devices which I need to use for my music tonight. I can copy music to my ipad and then turn the pages more quickly than with paper copies. Oh, well. Do have a lovely evening, nef and marc.
Niters, stidg! Have fun!
Oh dear. I had the di 8 but forgot to enter that word inside that!
Time for something to eat. BBS
hello all
Hi TO. I started heating food; but came back again.
i had leftovers. out running errands all afternoon
(wasn't planning to return so soon; but found some leftover soup in the freezer that will be quick & easy)
i so wanted some crab corn chowder
And I some leftover veggie soup which I made on Sunday.
that sounds good! DH wanted to go pick up something quick; but I'm a cheapskate.
2nd wa5 clue?
hi scrabbler.
Hi Owl
i have indigestion now. yuck.
Take Zantac--will work in 30 min.
So what did you eat?
i have taken a lot of zntac lately.
Or chew a few almonds--also relieves heartburn quickly\
really i will try that just to see if it works for me.
Really Scrabbs? That's good to know
I read a newspaper column from The People's Pharmacy. Or read their website--excellent info.
i will go get someright now.
good lord -came back just in time for that kmart holiday commercial
I (evidently) don't watch the right TV channels. I've seen it online though
I am watching a rerun of Modern Family.
19 words left (listed at 25 left) and I still hate this grid (my brain is on vacation, monkeys are doing all the work now)
30 left and I will not beg for clues to finish.
do you think it's funny? I think ive lost my sense of humorl
I love Modern Family--the only show that makes me LOL. So well-written.
i menat the k mart commerical
Oh, I don't know that commercial.
check fb, mom posted it. the one with the guys with the jingly...bells
(I've never seen it. I watch TLC, History Channel etc. instead of the usual ones.)
I don't watch much TV.
I didn't think it was funny either TO. I guess maybe I'm too old to see any humor in it? Or too straight-laced? I don't know which….
it is right up therre with "ship my pants" and "big gas savings"
although i like the latter.
I haven't seen either of those ads either.
I think it's a maturity thing, at 4 I, and most kids, thought gas passing was utterly hilarious, not so much any more.
NOW it's time to eat. BBS
hi joso
hey scrab
bye nef.
i dont understand, joso.
none of these ads used that kind of humor
18 left and I am done with the 4's, so that is enough for me. See you tomorrow.
well humor relies upon shock and surprise, at 4-5 potty humor, 10-11 f-troop and giligan's island shear genius,
as a teen, this hinting of sex, etc, etc,
i understand that; was just tyring to relate your comment to the subject of the discussion, which did not involve potty humor.
at this age, the add does not offend me, nor does it amuse
I was just saying what works at one age can fail at another
oh.
I can see the add working well for teens and young adults. on the other hand Abbot and Costello's 'who's on first' still works for me
i need two words including the un6. worda that begin with a preifx are a pain

i'm finally up to 52 found, and finally found one from the left O. I've 39 to go, and i'm pretty sure i won't finish.
hi everyone
I have 2 left now and started using the list with 25 left.
dcs, I get the regret, but can't link it with any thank yous. ???
ru plus not empty but ---
hi mab and Round Barn. This is a hateful grid
hi nef
Thank Goodness!! Done!
Sorry, Jen, missed your greeting. How are you tonight?
well done nef
Hi nef and others. I agree. But it means I haven't spent mucg time on it--so few words. I did look up the one everyone was wanting, I had it from an earlier clue=--the sa 6--and it's a sausage.
congrats, nef~
I am kind of down tonight nef...
thanks everyone.
why Jen?
si 6 please?

Hello, stid
I am formally retired (but am on-call for volunteering); so I know what broke feels like
thank you oo and nef
So, RoundBarn, how's the book coming along?
I try not to panic. Got all the material in for the spring UW catalogue--big job--but quietyky tonight read over "Marketing Seed Corn" and remembered all the fairs we had corn booths at and the fun--not the midways, you quickly tire of them--so the book is coming. My" stagg has dispoersed though
??? I didn't understand your last sentence there RB. But I'm glad it's still coming along
STAFF before it accidentally sent--Jerey's in Nepal, Mitch in Hawaii, Brian took a job with the state so that might as well be Katmandu--so I'm working pretty much alone. thanks for asking.
I sifi
oopsie...
DH was once (late 70's) a seed salesman for a small farm seed company in SE MN. He always seemed to enjoy the fairs and farm shows.
It wasn't a WORD, stud. ;-)
That makes it a bit harder for you; doesn't it, RB?
*grin*
(I'd need a staff with a staff to poke me with if I was trying to do what you are!
we may have crossed at the fairs. They were my brother's joys--especially the Sandwich Faair that had a train funning around its perimeter--small guage--
stid. (Stupid spellcheck!)
no worries, nef
yes, since everybody k left their part in the middle. Did I send you Megan's covers for Vols. 3 and 4?
Did you cross into SE Minnesota for fairs? I know he never went across the state line while selling seed; but he did once he worked for the USDA
it won't take mi5ly? as in i was mi5ly inconvenienced.
No you didn't, RB. I know you'd told me about 1 of them that you were thinking about (the picture of the barn)
I have data on the fairs--I know Dad had salesmen in Minnesota, so maybe we had a booth up there once--I'll look when we start archiving that material--if Brian ever comes back--
it took mi 5/12 for me, dc
I'll quit this now and send you the covers.
(mi 5/12 X 2)
Ooops! I hope you didn't fall asleep on the keyboard, RB!
yes, but not the adverb, which is my complaint. :)
that's what happens when you leave a kinger on the key--time to quit, obviously. I managed to fill the chog! Off to send covers, and then bed. gnt all.
I am now past halfway, and need Os. Any Os. ALL Os. please.
with choclits on top?
LOL sweet dreams, roundbarn, happy writing!

And roundbarn.

I've been trying to watch the Dr. Who Marathon on BBC America yesterday and today; but I get really nervous about suspenseful shows.
Anyone else a Dr. Who fan?
i like the show...but i can't watch new ones...don't have BBC...
from what I can tell, it's going on 24/7 all week (it's the 50th anniversary treat)
well i can't see it....there is also a special show with the current and last Dr. Who that will be shown...
yay Dr Who! Been watching it my whole life. :)
I started watching it in the late 70's; but I find I have to leave the room if it gets too tense.
I started watching in the late 70s also, but WMPT channel 22 out of DC ran all from the beginning and came in sync in the early 80s. I'm working now on the 3 most recent docs.
not having TV for a decade, i've missed those.
bbs, fussy baby, dad's out of town, gonna go give mom a break from screaming child.
i saw the shows with the doc just before this one...used to be on pbs.....also saw a lot of the old shows...
We are all big fans of Dr. Who; from DH down to our 4 1/2 yr. old grandson. Last year my daughter dressed as the Tardis for Halloween (she made up the costume hereslf0
very cool!
they never seem to sunbathe old ones here on PBS.
they don't here either....they did carry the David Tennant Who when he was on....
living in a place with 5 PBS stations, we get a lot of stuff between them. I think only three are PBS today, and the other tow are IPS now.
IPS? what's that?
International Public Service -- the int'l equal to PBS.
okay (I was unaware there was such a thing)
channels 53/56 (UHF -- don't know what they are today) always carried a lot of non-English programming. 56 used to run foreign newscasts in native languages most of the day, and Spanish and Chinese soap operas in the afternoons.
heading to bed....g'nite!
niters, pen!
What about Dr. WHAT
g'night penquis.
Mrs Whatsit, but Dr Who, ruru -- keep your fantasy universes straight as a tesseract, will ya?
Crap.. I am confused I thought Who is on first
Soooo good to see all these American Dr Who fans!!!!
(sorry, they are showing a scary part; I keep dashing out of the room!0
oh, North America is not lacking for Dr Who fans, not least BookDoctorGwen :)
are the dr's fans more efficient than central air?
The dalek icon is a big clue!
HI all! If the Dr. Who Live Experience ever tours the USA, be sure to go and see it. We saw it 3 years ago and it was fantastic. http://www.youtube.com/wat\nch?v=NhZEBLI-inU
I imagine a live experience is profoundly more fantastic than a dead one ...
thanks, Jac. (took me a while to get it to work)
Tell that to Jesus BR. ..
good to know, jac, thanks :)
why would an atheist say that?
Wasn't his death more fantastic
Well, I had to change channels now because I've had enough excitement for the night.
When the daleks were on stage and rising above us and the cybermen were on screen, and on stage, and the sound of their footsteps was resounding through the theatre, cybermen appeared amongst us and we all cringed in case our shoulder would be the one clasped. At that point, my Other Half grabbed his daughter's shoulder and she nearly shot through the roof. If was hilarious!
Does anyone need any clues before I go?
Lol nef
okay, then. Good Night ALl! And Happy Babbling!
'Night Nef. Sleep well.
Your perspective is interesting but not coincidental to mine.
I've never hidden behind the settee because of Daleks, and I have watched Dr. Who since episode 1 (which was aired on the same day JFK was asassinated). I've never been scared of the Cybermen either. But the weird wheele bins and the Stone Angels scare me. lol
I mean son of God and all that. ..that's fairly fantastic don't you think?
Perhaps for believers?
ruru - I guess that means if you mean fantastic as 'marvelous/wonderful' or 'a fairy tale/unbelievable'. Having said that... fairy tale and unbelievable have taken on different meanings from the original these days.
Hello, Jacula ... fear has been a fellow traveler.
Hello o-o. If fear doesn't travel alongside you I don't think you are living. Fear spurs us on.
Wonders if Fear has travelers insurance
Not always ... sometimes I just pull the covers over my head and pretend no one can see me.
ruru - Fear probably wouldn't get cheap insurance, though insurance itself feeds on people's fears.
o-o - They can't see you until until your creep a hand out to switch on the light, having heard a noise. Of course, at the point between leaving the cover and reaching the lamp switch they might get ou.
Darkness is my ally ... I know it well.
o-o - That makes you sound like a creature of the night, which you may well be. Darkness is also a comforting blanket, a cover. In some people it evokes fear, in others a feeling of safety.
I assume no one here needs any grid clues, since Nef asked earlier and no one said they did?
A creature ... yes, I am ... undefinable and an enigma
Really, o-o? Who told you that?
Not the first bit, since we are all creatures.
Bad therapists jocular
Dang auto correct
ruru - I am quite 'jocular' but my name is Jacula. xx
That is jacula..not jocular
lol
As for the bad therapists part, I'll wait to see what o-o has to say about that.
people I paid ... many ... what an honor.
o-o, I don't know how long ago you had 'therapy' but I can say from personal family experience that it may not seem to be doing anything at the time but you might see the light 10 - 15 years later. Having said that, I avoid therapists like the plague.
One major premise for me is not to let others define me ... I prefer this: "Russia is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma." - Winston Churchill
I have found that you get through stuff in 10-15 years all on your own anyway. However, I will say that if you have a condition that is caused by a chemical mixup/breakdown in the brain, medication might be of help, but only if it is carefully monitored.
o-o, I agree with you about not letting others define you. People are far too free and easy with slapping labels on now.
Medications are not always the answer
ruru - No, they are not and can sometimes make things worse.
Yes
The trouble with mental health is that most health professionals know sod all about it.
The problem is that many don't know how to help
How the brain works or does not work is the last enigma of the human body.
A member of our state senate is in hospital with stab wounds, and his son dead by self-inflicted gunsot, due to lack of mental care for the son on the part of the public health system. :/
that happened on Wednesday here.
ruru - They don't know how to help because they've not been trained to, and, even if they had, financial constraints might tie them.
dcs, that's sad.
Often Therapists are a bigger mess than their patients
it is, indeed. Sadly, that lack of sufficient public funding for that is a long-time problem here in Virginia.
That is a national problem dc..
I could talk for hours about my experience with the mental health system ... instead, as I have always known, I am responsible for my well-being .... many professionals have helped me learn how to.
It is criminal that so little funds are directed to help those in need
prisons now are the treatment centers for the more serious mentally ill
We had an incident last weekend, local to me, where a man was on the wrong side of the safety bars and threatening to jump off a bridge onto a busy motorway below. The incident lasted for 27 hours as police specialists tried to talk him down. There was total gridlock on the roads all around and some self-centred people on social networks urged him to 'just jump' and 'get it over with' so they could get home. Some people were trapped on the road for 5-7 hours with no facilities, but where was their compassion? They couldn't understand why the police/fire etc., hadn't put an inflatable under the bridge and then tasered him down. Since it is local, and my Mum knows a lady who works at the clinic he was eventually taken to, I know that they couldn't take him down quickly, so thus not 'inconvenience' the public, because he had a noose tied around his neck and to the railings. This fact has not been made public.
That is true
I despair of people who judge others so freely now.
What do you mean
ruru - Are you asking me that or o-o?
You .. judge how ?
Oh, okay, ruru. I was talking about the people on social media who were urging the man to 'just jump and get it over with'. Selfish nutter was another label. Would they have said that if it was a member of their own family?
I think it is human nature for people to judge others..I see it here all the time. The social media people can kiss my are
hi all. not to butt in, but, why would anyone post something on social media directed at someone who was on a bridge ready to jump? do they really think he would be checking facebook at such a time?
Facebook and the like turns people into b itchy people..bullies.. and whiners
The act of suicide IS 'selfish' in a number of ways. Firstly, the person is locked in their own perception of themself as being worthless and 'who would miss me anyway?' They're not thinking straight and so don't think about the effect their actions might have on others.
Suicide is an act of anger. Period
Hi Gwen. I totally agree with you! But I wonder why they would be so mean and selfish. After all, he might have a phone in his hand to see if someone loved him.
Self absorbed twits jac..
some people are assh@!#s
hopefully some of the people posting "just jump" were making sick jokes, not really hoping he would jump
ruru - I disagree. I don't think anger is the only emotion involved. I think it's a mishmash of negative emotions that all come together in what the person thinks of as a moment of clarity.
suicide is considered honorable in some cultures ...
not this one, though
that's not what I've learned in life jac.. but I honor your take on it
there are many that believe in euthanasia or assisted suicide.
I believe in that if a person is suffering and has no hope.. like someone suffering from cancer etc
one person's truth is another's heresy
what do you mean?
it's kind of pointless for us to speculate on why this person might have wanted to commit suicide; no way we're going to know
truth is subjective ...
My partner was the victim of a suicidal person. It turned out at the inquest, many months later, that the man who had thrown himself under the wheels of my chap's truck, to be burst like a bloody feather pillow, had suffered from long-term depression, had made 2 previous suicide attempts and made many threats to before those. I've no idea if he had sought help before the day he finally succumbed the the rule of 2; saw trucks coming out of the depot. Truck 1 approached and he lost his nerve, Truck 2 approached and I guess he took a deep breath, then came Truck 3, driven by my partner... To say this has blighted my partner's life wouldn't be too mild. He has nightmares, flashbacks, slams his foot on the brake pedal in his sleep, scream, 'NO! NO! NO!' He doesn't do it every night now after over a decade, but I don't need to be told when the anniversary is near because... well, you know.
