just monkeyed a work new to me, he6/24
good morning all :)
Morning Sprite! HUGS
*hugs pug* How are you today, hun, and how is your sister?
We are all good and you and your family
not too happy about my girl, the rest of us are fine
OH NO, not having probems there are you?
nothing new, she is just so very tired and a bit too stressed. She looks like a raccoon, bags under her eyes. Had to pick her up from school yesterday because she was too dizzy to ride home on her bike. But she refuses to stay home from school. sigh.
Is there any off days coming soon
good morning sprite - sorry to hear about problems with daughter, poor dear, but you really don't need this right now
no, just the weekends. Waiting for the Xmas holidays. The smart little lady told me I shouldn't tell her to stay home from school, because.... drumroll... she had to learn to watch her own limits and there was no way she could learn that if I stepped in and ordered her...
wow, how old is this little lady?
hi flosey *hug* No, I don't, but we don't get to pick the timing, do we... Just worried about her.
she will be 16 in february.
TEENAGER! could the dizziness be from not eating right
no, she eats pretty good. I think it is a combination of stress, asthma and being overly tired.
maybe she can recooperate when the week end gets here
I hope so. We reached a compromis... told her I will give her time until the end of next week, and if she still looked this bad, I would keep her home.
and possibly trying to be strong herself, so you don't have to worry?
I dont blame you
yes, she has a tendency to do that, flosey.
does she take a daily vit. Sprite? If not that might help a bit
she should... but good point. Will check if she actually does that or let it slip.
and maybe she has picked up that cold from you last week and its just not came out fully
possibly. Thanks. It always helps to share our worries here, doesn't it :)
yes it does for sure
back briefly. hey ya sprite. and pugs, and flosey
dont know where our Rose is--she was here before the flip and has vanished
lololol
lol... speaking of timing. Hi rose *hugs*
peek-a-boo...i see you
wha la and there she is! lol
aha, welcome back rose
pug has the magic touch!
I wish!
*giggle* still a little fragile here. but starting to think again. *sigh* head feels like it's full of pudding..
*hugs rose big time* Small wonder, hun. Quite a week, you have behind you.
sprite teen girls ought to have a warning label on them...
what flavor? lol----hows that baby Braxton? Bet hes getting big too
don't they just! Smart mouthy moodswinger at full speed, approach at your own risk, handle with extreme care!
awww, sweetie, {{hugs }} to you too, *quickly adding* and {{hugs}} to pugs, and {{hugs}} to flosey
yes rose p BUT - the boys pay no heed to such warnings
pugs he is absolutely gorgeous. his mum and dad brought him over for a visit last night. very good antidote to the trauma of the day.
Sprite just try remembering when you were at that age
my posts aren't coming through
I let her 'win'... about the school thing... not because I think she is right... but because I thought if it mattered so much to her, she deserved to feel victorious over her mother for once.
You are going to have to put up some new pictures Rose
lol true, the boys only see the... let's call it highlights... of the girls.
when my MIL died, I was standing at the funeral with my HUGE belly full of Caya.
well Sprite it looks like to me shes going to have good work etics
she will, pug. It is crazy. We have to learn the boy how to act responsibly and the girl how to act a little less responsible.
what does the name caya mean
it is related to Gaya, Mother Earth.
I mean Gaia.
Is that a dutch name
no, not really. More universal.
i know, pugs. but it's been a tad difficult to motivate myself. once i'm home after surgery, will have plenty of time to do all the fiddly bits i haven 't done.
flosey must of lost her connection
I know Rose, youve been through so much here lately
the surgery is kind of a godsend--at least you will have to rest
How is MIL doing now
flosey just emailed me, she can't get any of her messages to enter the chog.
no pressure from us, rose. You take your time and will do it when it suits you. No problem. As long as it is before the weekend :)
I have seen her messages, though. Even the one where she said they weren't coming through. And the one before that about the boys.
pugs...don't start me....she has over-used a laxative, and now she is blocked high up in the bowel, with faecal fluid only getting through. grrrr
wonder if shes having bad weather over there?
omg poor woman.... and poor you as well.
Is she there with you
the smell is burning the hair in my nostrils....lol and don says his eyes are watering...
I can imagine. So awful.
pugs, she lives in our home, in her own suite of rooms. because the weather is warming up, she leaves the connecting door open....and the aroma wafts through.
No shit granny?
exactly, ruru...no shit....at all....
lol ruru
I knew she lived with you but didnt know if she was there now or at the care center
I am sorry I couldn't pass that entry up..
she's home until last week of january, when we will have our regular 3 week break from each other.
at least its not hitting the fan et
rose, how about when you have the surgery? You cannot take care of your MIL and yourself at the same time then. neither can Don, I think.
lolol pug!
oh my, pugs....roflol
I can't top that one...
its got to come out some how---is she on something to help besides the pot
same as last year, dearest. yes i will be taking care of her, by phone or email. she and SIL are under strict instructions not to try and contact don on m onday. SIL has to make the decisions herself.
pugs, i have reviewed her use of laxatives. once she is unblocked, we have an action plan in place. just got to get her to poop first.
well it looks like SIL would step in to help---I know we are talking about fang--so that says alot
is she in pain?
aha, back again - that lasted all this time - chatbox was totally white - nothing coming through - or going out
you having bad weather Flosey
hi flosey, how frustrating! Glad you are back.
sprite, she has colic....
was about to give up for the night
Rose has that problem with MIL too-lol
poor, poor woman! Nasty pain.
We didn't have anything to say flosey
you missed ruru being out-punned by puglet
no bad weather, just a little computer glitch I guess
oh dear, must read back
a crooked byte, flosey
Hangs head in shame
sorry Ru. it will probaly be my one and only time
*giggles* I hope not! 't Was fun... from both of you.
Sprite have you looked at Ruru's icon? I love it! Oh and the pic you sent was so cute too--thanks
I love it too, it is brilliant. Oh, glad you liked it :)
do you realize how long those dogs have been standing in that lineup - it's been many days
brb--refill needed
They're setters flosey :D
you'd expect to see one or more jump around with their paws between their legs
that first one must be having Rose's MIL's problem
lol flosey
I'm really going to bed now, goodnight all, 40 for tomorrow
sleep well, flosey *hugs*
Nite flosey
night flosey....have been inhaling dinner
Night Flosey
this is what you do rose, you get a single long rubber glove, past the elbow, vets have them if not hospitals. Then you hand it to fang, and say "you know what needs to be done"
lol Joso
lolololllll joso! Oh poor MIL. *snort*
oh my goodness, joso...ROFLOL....
and while at it why not get the calf puller too
;)
I cant believe Ruru didnt come in on that one!
don't do it, or let fang do it, just watch her face, hehehe hehe hehehehehe
pugs, that buzzing sound in the background....our ruru is asleep...shhh!
I thought I was hearing those big fat black flies buzzing
he's just trying to top it
brain shorting out
uugghhh, SPRITE!!!!
:)
gosh, it's pouring rain here. a real deluge. and it's nearly summer....yeah right.
and soon you'l be explaining about the dry heat!
well I would trade you weather
dry heat or dry heaves?
was 89.6 F yesterday, now it's 59.7F
it's really pretty here, 3 inches (7cm) of snow dusting everything, my world looks like a Christmas card
lol...pugs...you are on a roll tonight.
thats does sound pretty Joso
and stepping in for ruru, heeeeeers pugs
going to get my kiwi fruit. brb
Sprite you are too quiet--everything okay
am fine, hun. Just tired. Am gonna indulge in a nap after babble :)
are you not sleeping good at night
last night was ok. Have been having lots of nightmares lately. All because of the therapy, of course. It will settle in time.
certainly hope so, sprite.
am5 makes no sense, how can you have a single plural
I do too
lol joso... It is french word, meaning friend.
thanks my friends. With your good wishes, how can it fail :)
umm, joso, am5 is the garment worn by priests
sounds like one of those no pain no gain type of things sprite, sorry you have to go through it
ignore my post re am5... rose is right.
thanks joso. yeah I think so too. Am ok with it now, no longer fighting it. It will settle.
jees, I didn't really think they were talking about the rodent
whoot, yank his chain and along he comes...lololol
lol, joso needs a 'tongue-in-cheek' font
how about a little ruru trolling, women in compromising positions, smut, dirty words
not going there, joso....
compromising positions are in the eye of the beholder
let me behold
I need clues for the ap6 and at5 to have all my a's
ap6, ap + i see + mr gore

lol joso
I need one more c5/12---got the money and the one that rimes with body works --please
to provide lunch for a bunch?
as it's all legal over there I didn't think it would be so hard
ce5, plural of ce4, old peoples in united kingdom
ca5, one who hunts felix and sylvester
hmmmm, joso, not hard? so sorry for your problem....
its a ce that I need
if it is not hard, you don't need them
boom boom
lol
did i get him, or what?
ce5, this spelling makes no sence
lol good one
got that one and the money one
you need the one rose clued then. The uk people with the LOTR font etc
pugs, ce + the a**ernative is not nice, then plural
ce5, plural, ce4 scots of yore
got it Rose, thanks
joso, am having so much fun with the dresden files.
ce4, their cross has a ring
oh such a good series, so glad you found it
but but but... he is dead now... or at least... he seems to be. He is running around in spirit form, lol.
og to iron druid next
*go
who is the writer, joso?
oh nm, I already found them
you know, that guy that did the iron druid series
Kevin Hearne
yeah, hearne. When we talked last time, I already searched for them and found them. Very nice.
I have one more book left from the dresden files. After that, Iron Druids here I come.
I'm reading Conn Iggulden's mongol series now, very well done historical fiction, then he has notes at the back telling you what parts are speculitve, and where he changed things
sounds good too
there seems to be several food words in this grid
would you believe that shortly after genghis a woman ruled the monguls, i would not have thought monguls to be pro lib, what with all the raping and stuff
odd indeed
conn comments she was the most extraordinary woman of her time and he did not feel he had done her justice
Wonders if genghis..called her hin
it's alive
.hun...
lol
propper vowels are important for pins to work

bye rose, rest well
well, sorry i missed rose. but hi all
and pug too
it is a gazillion o'clock here
that said, i'm off to catch a few hours before turkeypalooza begins.
groan....emergency root canal job for crossy this afternoon.poor left side of face is swollen twice its size
Big groan - but perhaps this will be an end to all the trouble you've had with that tooth!
i hope so!was on the phone with doc yestteday and i said "i cannot go till dec 23rd this way!!"
I'm glad you did that. it was ridiculous for you to be in pain for so long, with nothing being done!
my own fault of course.first order of business after this tooth is fixex and the left side is cleaned to math the right is a nice new wter pik
match
water
Sounds like a good idea - don't mess around with teeth. Toothache and earache must be amongst the worst type of pain.
this hurts worse that when i got chunks cut off of me for my seminoma!
And that's saying something, I'd think!
i have been run over by a car as well, and that is just a tad more painfull than this lol
at least i got morphine for the car injuries:P
Well I really hope that after the root canal treatment settles down, you feel much better.
ty,liz.i am sure things will be much better in a day or 3
so,liz, hor are things down under? tis a balmy minus 10c here and snow squalls coming off the bay
I'm sure your lovely wife will spoil you til you feel better :)
she is an angel
Things are lovely here. Beautiful weather this week - beach walks and tonight a jewish community celebration of chanukah in a park in the centre of town.
very nice:)
Temps of about 27 C!
lol,nice swimming weather
Don't know how you cope with such cold temps for so much of the year.
Yes, we did go swimming this afternoon!
Water matched the air temp!
it is all aclimatization, liz.i can at need, work in minus 40c all day,but get me over there with you when it is 40c and i am ready for the hospital
i start falling apart at 35 c and become one big heat rash
Thankfully it never gets to 40 C here. Average about 30 in the summer. Can be humid but fans and air con deal with that. And there's always a sea breeze at the beach.
i do not know how my brother endure Nevada.was 114 for an entire month for him last summer
It's funny how quickly you acclimatise. I find it cold here in temps that I'd never have thought cold in the UK. But I guess it's partly because we don't have central heating!
OMG! Just went to a site to convert 114 into C! That's 45 C! I also don't know how your brother coped with that!
it is insane there in summer ,liz!! he tells me that the low humidity helps(often less than 10%)
I guess that would help. I've been on holiday to Turkey and it was a hot dry heat there - as long as we drank loads of water, the temperature was manageable!
this grid looks like it is going to be evil
Nah .. easy grid
I listed earlier than I often do! I had about 80 left! Now down to 64 but I'll leave some for tomorrow!
You're good at these grids, o-o! Takes me much longer!
Nah
Only had trouble with the last 150
;)
well, that makes me feel better then!
an oblong vestment is in the grid again
I am curious about how long an ob is
As long as you want it to be!
obadiah
ob-la-di
do you do the Lindy Hop to that song?
I would if I knew how.
yes, life goes on .... unless it does not ...
Profound!
it is not dying that bothers me,it is laying still so long that sounds like a pita
Don't think you have much choice there, crossy.
damn death is to restrictive.no fun at all. like Frank Zappa said "life may suck, but death? That bitch does not put out at all"
lol sorry direct quote
you are not sorry
ok,i am not sorry
lol
:)
was just trying to cover the nicities
i promise will will try and be sorry for something later today..most likely sitting my butt down in that dental chair
Life n. A spiritual pickle preserving the body from decay. We live in daily apprehension of its loss; yet when lost it is not missed. The question, “Is life worth living?†has been much discussed; particularly by those who think it is not, many of whom have written at great length in support of their view and by careful observance of the laws of health enjoyed for long terms of years the honors of successful controversy. “Life’s not worth living, and that’s the truth,†Carelessly caroled the golden youth. In manhood still he maintained that view And held it more strongly the older he grew. When kicked by a jackass at eighty-three, “Go fetch me a surgeon at once!†cried he. Han Soper
50 left. Any Americans, Happy Thanksgiving. Also Happy Chanukah. Otherwise, have a nice day (although those celebrating can also have a nice day)

It's important to accept that we create the world we live in. When we cultivate compassion instead of turning cynical, we feel better. We feel closer to the people we care about and more fulfilled within ourselves. By being open and understanding, we relieve ourselves of our own destructive attitudes, and we draw out the best in those around us.
I have mine but thanks sue
but that wasn't the one

ty
Do as I do and the demons will get you ...
All the kids at school say they want to be treated like they treat others, then I show them how they are treating me as a sub. Then we talk about treating people with respect in the face of disrespect. That is the most powerful action they can take against the disrespect they will most likely get from a lot of teachers.
well, time for crossy to get ready for school, then root canal work..:((( pray for crossy..whine...

Hello, Bichon.
Back. Hi Bichon.
Hi Bichon and same to you and Hi Zoom
Hello, Puglet :-)
Looking forward to spending the day with Mom at her Assisted Living
Nice. How old is she?
Scrabbler, had to get a tdap because I was bitten by one of the dogs. The nurse asked me if I just had a new grandchild.
Mom is almost 90.
Yes, the Tdap is needed for all adults to boost our immunity to pertussis.
Is your mom happy? My mom is 82 and lives at home with my hermit brother.
i just don't know if i can buy carrie underwood as maria von trapp
My Mom has Alzheimers so I don't know if she is happy or not. She has lived in Assisted Living for about 6 years.
At least she is taken care of very well
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
My mother struggles with anxiety and OCD mostly, not memory issues. And arthritis.
mesh
Does she take meds for the anxiety and OCD.
Hi Jindigo!
oops - sorry. this is why i stay out of the chog.
Don't sweat it Jindigo
No, she hasn't even seen a doctor in 25 or more years, She distrusts doctor. Doesn't want a mammogram, colonscopy, meds, etc.
I needed that, so TY, Jindigo
That must be tough, especially since you are a physician
a

Imax
Woops on me
ding ding ding!
I want to contact a geriatrcian about her and drag her in..before there is a medical crisis. She prefers denial.

How do you drag an elderly woman to a doctor's office.
Hahaha.
Ha Ha hurshy
I just tell her that we HAVE to do it.
hello all....can i get STATS for one of the 8 letter words please?...
hurshy did you hear about the death about a Yale professor
I present the worst situation: showing up to an ER and not having her own doc to manage her issues.
he 8/45 pi 8/50
yeah
RE 8/40
ty
And I remind my mother that I cannot be her doctor.
yw
And even if you did give her medical advice, would she follow it.
My d.i.l. has the same problem
She gets her medical knowledge from Reader's Digest and the newspaper.
not sufficient?
Yes, and the "People's Pharmacy".
She loves the People's Pharmacy and listens to their radio show. That fuels her distrust of doctors.
Today's grid is filled with all sorts of Thanksgiving dinner items. (Well, at least two.) Happy Thanksgiving, Babble Buds!
Second sc5, please?
Hi Bea
hi Bea
Second sc5 - aroma, fragrance
Smell nice smells, Scrabs.
hi Haz
That seems to be the case for many mom's Scrabs. Hub's mom was certain she had copd and my mom is sure she has fibromyalgia.
fragrance
And good morning/afternoon all.
howdy haz!!
Hello, Haz :-)
Hello Une, bichon, zooz.
is anyone's mom sure they have hypochondria?
Hello babbleworld. Turkey on, pies done, all that remains is my rosemary yams in cream sauce
sounds yummy!!
Hello, Jilly :-)
At least my Mom always liked to go to the doctor.
Sounds like we have the same mothers....
oh man, mine was the opposite -- we had to drag her to dr kicking and screaming! LOL
And my late father, he saw a doctor at any opportunity. He was convinced he had fibromyalgia an convinced several doctors to give him Oxycontin
wow
BAck--I saw a deer out front and took a pic. They come to eat underneath the birdfeeders.
Been seeing a lot of deer and wild turkeys lately
aaawww how cool! have had lots of cardinals at feeders this morning :-)
I heard gunshots this morning when I went out to fetch my newspaper.
HUnters are looking for deer and turkeys
We even have deer in our housing development. Not so many this year as last...and no garden damage this summer yay!!
I've heard a lot of gunshots lately and every time, all fours dogs go crazy
Last few days of hunting season here.
isn't it a bit late to be hunting one's turkey at this point?
could freeze it for next year. Wonder what a wild turkey tastes like?
I know friends' husbands that get a wild turkey on Thanksgiving Day morning.
Good morning everyone, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to my American friends!! I'll bet that your homes are starting to smell soooooooo good !!

hi Haz.. didn't see you
Haz, you have been excelling in QP.
Hi Hazel
Hello, Aloy.
Aloy, are you still in Phoenix?
I've put in extra training, Scrabbler. (Joke!)
Hello, Annie.
MimiCat and I are having a Babble meetup on Dec. 1st.. in case any of you Phoenix area Babblers are available to join us
What is QP
QP?
Quote puzzler - another website with word games.
yup, still here till the 4th Scrabbs
Queens Poker
Thanks Haz...that got it for me. nbt nbs
You're welcome, tabbycat.
Quote Puzzler--10 daily games of word puzzles to challenge your brain. My daily highlight. I am a nerd.
Where do you find this> Is it on like
will have to check that site out
nbt
I've worked out that I'm better waiting until the afternoon to do some of the puzzles.
nbs
www.quote-puzzler.com
nrkii who plays here is a whizz. We are in awe of her.
I do better in the morning, Haz, and definitely deteriorate in the evening.
ty, I'll look
thanks Haz
nrkii excels day after day
Mom Scrabbler is talking to me on the phone. She is talking about how her feet are growing and her winter boots feel tight.
I know. I'd love to know how much time affects the score - top letters I'm always racing against the clock and maybe I'd be better taking my time.
Triplet Scramble is my toughest--I just don't grasp the need for word order.
I don't always do it, I must admit and I tend to leave honeycomb alone as well.
HoneyComb is maddening but I give it a try everyday anyway. I don't try too hard or I go crazy.
My favorites = Top Letters and WordBuilder
And my favourites are Speed Phrase and In and Out.
Interesting. And I too frequently screw up QP itself and then quit it.
It's surprisingly easy to make wrong assumptions on it, isn't it? Or to hit the wrong key and oops, you get an inaccuracy hit.
Yes, and I learned that as soon as you make a mistake your score plummets, so I see no point in continuing after making an error.\
Sometimes I just want to see what the quotation is so I persist!
Yes, I will finish puzzles but not submit lousy scores.
Do you think all the others are busy trying out QP? They've gone awfully quiet.
I think they are all paying to join QP. Aloy and Bichon and our other Babble Buddies will excel.
Goodness, more people to try and beat!
You can probably claim commission from the site - you were the one to mention it first.
nrkii invited me 4 yrs ago.
I definitely remember hearing about it on babble, but I can't remember who mentioned it.
OK, my mother has said goodbye and I must get ready to drive 45 minutes to get her and my sister. We are going out for Thanksgiving lunch.
Gotta get ready now.
I'm going to head out for a walk with Dempsey. Enjoy your lunch, Scrabbler.
sounds like a lot of fun ! I'd rather not get addicted to another cyber- activity.. Babble and Facebook and email take a chunk of time each day, but I enjoy them all
bye Haz, bye Scrabbler.. have to also scoot but hope to bbs..
It is fun, Aloy, but it doesn't take up a huge amount of time. Some of the games are timed so you're under pressure to finish quickly. I enjoy the site a lot.
Have a good day, Aloy - *gone*
ah, good, Haz, ty!
Aloy, QP takes just 10-15 min daily and really challenge the brain.
will check it out, Scrabbs, ty.. happy TD !
Truly I can always count on the QP games to wake up my brain everyday.
(TurkeyDay, but I should say Thanksgiving for the vegetarians too)..
Happy Tofu day doesn't have the same ring to it
T- 1 hour till root canal job..crossy's knees are a knocking
irate
oops
A rare chance to use this babblet! Tssk, tssk!
How many roots will use the canal?
nonw when they are done with it
none
Hope it goes well and gets you fixed up
i sure as heck hope so.this is agony;(
crossy, is that where they kill the nerve in the tooth and put something in to make tooth stay white?
i know they go in,drill out the never get rid of all the infection but this tooth may have to go,seems it is all broken down the centre and has a chunk out of one corner
nerve
oh, don't envy you, but sounds like something I had done many years ago - it will be frozen, of course
I had one that split (stupid accident, crossing icy walk with metal pen clutch between my teeth
ouch
and that's just how simply these 'stupid' accidents happen, eh! we've all done them
Sorry - hit enter by mistake - any way tey stuck tiny little pegs i it after the root canal and built a new tooth around the remains on the peg. Said it might last only a few years, should get a crown, but it went thirty odd years bet=fore I had to have it pulled.
wow, lucky there!
i can get a new fake tooas as well, have on in another part of my mouth but that is about $2k
I'm not so convinced on the Canadian Health care system
Possibly best-made tooth in my head for a while!
the health care is fine, ruru, the dental care however is just like your health care system down there;(
why ru, our health care is great
Canadian health care system doesn't cover dental guys - sorry.
dental and health are 2 seperate animals up here
although they should not be
ah.. okay
ah, ours is covered by teachers' plan
I thought they were both covered
Dental insurance only came into being to provide a new product for health insurance companies that saw their market shrink a lot when the Canada Health Act came in.
teachers get all the goodies and perks
lol
teachers deserve them :D
firewords! Thanks all cluers, I'm off to re5 and eat pi4
agree crossy, and Ontario has an excellent one
wtg dan
Most large employer policies cover dental work. Trouble is, at least one of us had to be working for such a firm - too many gaps over the years.

We had split pea soup in the hot lunch program about once a month - cured most of us of ever wanting to see split pea soup on the menu again!
Yeah.. I only have it a couple times a year.. but it's so easy to make and it tastes so good

Neither do we...27# turkey was my wakeup call...
are you feeding the entire coast guard?
No, just we potluck it with the Giggars, and my hubby insists on lots of turkey leftovers.
Plus I boil the carcass for broth. Made 9 quarts last year, used the last one to make stuffing for today!

Whatcha doing for Tday une?
meeting at friend's condo downtown at 3:00 for wine and munchies :-)
Well, just hop a flight out here...we'll fill ya up!
I'm there! LOL
We must have done this for 20+ years. When both of us realized we cooked all day, then went to work the next day, we pulled resources together. Then everyone comes over on Friday night for leftovers.
sounds fantastic!
I decided this year, to start a Thanksgiving Day log. Who came to dinner, who was youngest, who was oldest, who was newest, and what each of those three has to be thankful for. It will be fun to look at over the years.
Great idea...if we'd done that 20 years ago...wow, what a legacy that would have been!
great idea, harp
I know, it's never too late to start! Our "kids" table is now, anyone under the age of 55!
:-D
Well, off to shower...56 left...HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!

Sorry Chrissie.... Phone call. My Dad's still in hospital.....at age 85 & three quarters, understandably he's not making huge progress, but at least he's ( as they say round these parts) this side of the ground!!!!
sorry to hear that, soodle and hope he recovers soon. i am gong to set the table for the holiday meal, cu later
It's hard when they're that age Soodle. Is he close enough that you can see him?
So, I feel I should be getting the waft of roast turkey coming off the computer!!!! How's Thanksgiving Day going for you guys?
So far,so good. Going to my mom's soon. My sides are warming in the oven. Down a kid, as he's with "her" family, but the other two will be here with us. And I get them ALL for Christmas, as it should be!
Champ, he's about an hour & a half's drive away, which limits my visits to about 2 -3 a week. But enough about me....... Describe Thanksgiving Day to me.... What am I missing?
Drinks and much, much food! This is a Soodle holiday, for sure!
I'm right there in spirit with y'all, Champ! Slainte!!!
Thank you! Oh my way out the door. Will toast you when I have a beverage in hand. Enjoy all!

Happy Turkey Day to all from ID, headed to our family dinner....yes! Don't forget the prayer of thanks
same to you, jerry
yes, enjoy the family!
well phan, superstorm sand scattered us last year and cancer this yeqr. but i have faith that we all will be well and strong and together for the next.
Sorry about that, I pray that you will indeed be together next year!
It is just going to be my husband, 2 of my children and myself. Small dinner this year.
that
thats nice.
i thought i would eel very bad but i busied myself with cooking, which i am really risty at, and it was therapeutic.
Glad the cooking made you feel good.
I made a slew of Mashed potatoes for the dinner our neighborhood provided to our local firehouse. Baked a Pumpkin pie from a fresh pumpkin and roasted the seeds. That is the extent of my cooking.
well that is a lot. i made a pe as well but put a cookie sheet under it and it refused to cook. well see in a few hours how it is.
hmmm. wonder why it refused to cook
heat from the bottom blocked
I have used a cookie sheet under my pie tins before
this was RIGHT under, racks not spaced
oh, ok.
it was an impossible pie, to lazy to mess with anything else today.
sorry about that...
i also make just a custard some times, i prefer that.
love custard
with sherry and sherry whipped crea,
that does sound yummy!
it leaves out nearly all of the warm spices, more delicate.
oh crap i just remembered i did not use any vamilla inj the pie. do you add that?
no. I just use cinnamon, allspice, ginger, and nutmeg.
i made my own pumpkin pie spice with few cloves, i often use the lighter spicing of the custard in my pies. for christmas, walnut sour creram pie and chess pie!
chess pie?
yes, southern thing, i love lemon chess pie. google gayle ganfs recipe
I will have to google that, as I never heard of it.
TO, heres to a healthy, happy 2014 for you & yours.
thanks. soodle, i'll drink to that! if you hear from Molly, give her my regards,
the trytophan is kicking in, happy babbling, all. owl out

Bye Owl. ((((()))))

At the risk of sounding stupid....... (Not unknown to Soodle).... What's trytophan?
Meh! Talking to self again!
It's the chemical in Turkey that makes you sleepy
actually, according to this site, it doesn't make you tired. http://tinyurl.com/qaxua9v
Ooooh. Thanks Ph! That explains my nodding off after Christmas dinner. ( and to think I always blamed the half bottle of wine...sheesh....)

I enjoy Thanksgiving too
don't know how important Thanksgiving is to you, diane, but from what i've experienced up here, Thanksgiving is a much bigger deal down below
here, people even have their thanksgiving dinners the sunday before thanksgiving - that doesn't fly in the states (except in extreme circumstances)
(course, it helps that thanksgiving is always on a thursday and most people either have the friday off, or take the friday off)
Yes.... it seems to be. We don't have the buildup , including Black Friday, but it is important to our family. We do have our dinner usually on the Sunday, to allow the the travellers to get home on the Monday.
black friday means the same to me as boxing day - absolutely nothing :)
means nothing to me either...just a reminder to finish up my shopping....but i avoid shopping on Black Friday....too many people...
same here ! I "accidentally" experienced IT the year we went to Arizona early. I just wanted a few things at Joann fabric and craft store. I could NOT believe the lineups.... we left and came back the next week !
pen, i avoid shopping all year
I was not planning on going shopping tomorrow, but I have unexpected guests coming on Saturday that if I shop tomorrow, I can avoid having to ship my gifts...
I don't shop on boxing day either, but my girls and granddaughters love the "rush".... I just stay home and enjoy the quiet house!
welki.... I loved your nurse's Christmas tree.... I copied it and sent it to my daughter :-)
one of my daughter's is a nurse, too
I would like to see that...
My youngest one is.... she's 41.
hang on, phan
here you go: http://tinyurl.com/n96fy8m
I don't know how you do those tinyurl things.... I see that many use them on here.
I've also looked at many
if you see a website you want to share, you copy and paste the address (URL) to the box at www.tinyurl.com it'll generate a smaller address that you can copy into chat
thanks.... I'll give it a try next time I have something to share :-)
I just copied and pasted that info and added it to my document of "useful and helpful hints"
i have a notebook like that - truth be told, i don't know what half the things i copied into it are anymore
But.... they're there, just in case you ever need them, right ? ;-)
Also, my "favourites" list is a mile long and many of them obsolete. That housecleaning job is one of my projects for when we are down south!
mine too - check out www.lik.com beautiful photography
that didn't paste properly.... it added a bunch of 20% 's and said "page not found"
Welki, thanks for the url. I have seen that before, I think it is great!

hello and happy thanksgiving to all my american friends.
hi grannyrose, ty; do you have a similar holiday?
no aloy, but often join american friends over here to help them celebrate. it's a nasty job, but someone has to do it. i think i am so brave, don't you? lol
yes.. someone has to help eat all that pie! bravo, grannyrose
happy Didgeridoo day to you rose
*giggle*
ahhh thanx joso....
and you even spelled it right. i'm impressed
cut and paste dose wunderds fer speelink
and I am clueless.. can you tell me what that is?
ROFLOL....
hello joso, aloy and granny...
hi Jilly
And thanks for the 'grats' aloy...
aloy, it is a hollowed out branch from a tree, our indigenous people play them as a musical instrument.
hey jilly, aloy, happy tnx day to you two
yes.. and there is a day to celebrate that instrument?
howdy joso, ty
hey ya jilly. and there is a special way of playing it, using what is called circular breathing.
Still in a half turkey coma...
aloy, naughty joso is being facetious.
only in my mind aloy
lol, I have always been gullible!
It's quite the interesting instrument whether or not it has it's own day!
hook, line and sinker as the old saying goes
it's a great instrument though, a unique and haunting sound
darned hard to play though.
someone should make a band of odd ball instruments, the Didgeridoo, the feramin, the saw, the kazoo, the bagpipes, washtub bass,
the feramin? newbie to me
sheldon plays it
theramin, not feramin
they're fun to play.
hey yall. Hope the US peeps had a good Thanksgivukkah. :)
feramin even more eerie than a didgeridoo
θɛrəmɪn by translation...could go f or th
well, fw here .. off to look up theramin.. hope you all had a great Thanksgiving too. We were blessed to be with our 3wk old grandson, lots of cuddle time.. poof for now
English standard is theramin.
g'night aloy :)
Thanks DC...what did you have to replace a turkey today?
WooT WooT WooT aloy....
congrats aloy
replace? nothing :) I had roasted root vegies and broccoli and latkes and mashed potatos and dressing and wine.
sounds yummy...I only recently discovered the joys of roasting vegies....
braising and roasting really are the nicest way to cook veggies in my view.
So much flavor and releases all the sugars in them. Don't think I will ever boil a beet again!
hi
hi harp...want any turkey...LOL!
the key to cooking beets is to cook them whole. don't cut them until they are cooked. this retains the juices
and roast beets, don't boil them.
Think ya gotta cut them up when roasting...
Even my hubby liked them roasted...
nope. Poke with a fork, wrap in foil, peel when cool enough to handle. :) Rub with oil before wrapping if you wish.
Good advice
I did a yam in rosemary cream sauce. No leftovers..darn it!
Well, was up early so am heading to pillows. Have a nice evening all!
