As a former New Yorker, I heard a few Yiddish words, awreddy.

I always thought it was zo..
won't be so tired -- out with friends this evening - a couple of glasses of wine -- lovely dinner -- sure you understand how it goes!
that's so true. it's harder to see the words on second viewing of the grid
it's always nice to be kept abreast of new yiddish words
lol, just looked up the meaning of that word
will have to get a clue on the yiddish eventually -- have no idea - might as well be looking for hungarian or swahili
nu, thank you - i actually know that word!
plumpish
LOL .. flosey.. I felt like a boob when i found it
flosey, the meaning was given here ages ago but I guess you weren't looking at the chat, lol!

yes I know jilli, me too when I'm not rushed with other stuff
didn't we have one in the 40's once?
smallest grid was in the thirties I think
wow, hardly worth it! hi stid, good to see you
that would be puny :(
hi stid -- and you're right.
well Dr G wanted us to have a day of rest :D
(((flo))) having a hard time getting to sleep, a frustrated parent email got my adrenaline working, so trying to calm down with a grid.
LOL ruru! I need one!
bless his heart
much appreciated
btw, flo and jill -- I think I might have a house ready next time you visit!!!!
cooee from me

hey granny
I'm off for now, backat flip

hi mab
g'day mab
nice! that is really good news -- and still keeping the pain under control?
haha rose -- good news. My ultrasound was the some.
yes, stiddy. doctor amazed at how little analgesia i am needing.
hurray for no clots! glad youŕe healing nicely.
oh, good, jilli

ruru doesn't speak typo
YAY wickd!
really glad the pain is bearable, rose.
not with ms word patriot :D
well done wick
doctor took down dressing today, left the steri-strips alone. apparently have a huge blister the size of a large grape at bottom end of suture line. otherwise all good.
And...to sleep
stid, a case of cellulitis below the knee in the right leg.
ouchie on blister, so glad about the rest...
WTG WICKD!!!
oh oh jill -- *stern mama look at infected tissues*
ouch, jili... sounds ouchie
not a blister here -- big swelling under the skin.
down to 14. :-)
seeing surgeon tomorrow 2 hours before flip, so may be late....
I thought granny said strip searched for a second
Hi all :)
hey liz
hey liz!
*giggle* ruru, in my dreams
no, granny! you must reschedule doctor!
LOL ruru!
hello liz
doc is taking care -- on heavy antibiotics after mild ones didn't work.
Such a small grid!
Is it bitey?
okay, stuck at 14 for a while. I think I will leave the rest for another day.
jilli, you doing okay on these AB's?
bitey?
Nasty, Ru - a grid with teeth!
I hope the meds work, jill -- and GR, you'll have a great visit with the surgeon tomorrow. :-D

So far okay rose. Seeing doc on Thursday (it's Tuesday here now).

yeah, i know ruru. have it, but took a while to find it.
cleavage to beaver
Think I'll leave that za 6 for a while!
oh sorry... leave it to beaver
ty rose
huh??? my beaver doesn't have a cleavage...lol
beavers may have different meanings in different countries
good move liz
not touching that one
jilli, i'm thinking the naughty one
most countries don't give a dam about beavers jilli :D
Of course you are, rose ;-)
and you had better not, mab, else DH will have something to say about it...
rose!
*whistles*
It's Canada's national symbol, lol!
is it?
yes, mab
castor canadesis
along with the royal cypher? hmm..
*innocent look* what, mab?
and why is ruru whistling?
nurse, nurse! sedate this wild woman!
roflol
*waves to dart*
well, jilli, i was born in a state whose symbol is the loon...
ours is the bear
silly. there are no bears in california.
everybody knows that.
mab , our $1 coin is the loonie -- it has a loon on the obverse.
I've seen bears in California
many times
this is getting unbearable
oh dear, mab....a loon? does that mean you are all loony?
many? really? tell the truth now ru.
10 maybe
9 for sure
one is loony to live in minnesota, home of 30 degrees below zero.
please tell me they were not all in your living room....
oooh that is loony
I have never seen a bear in the wild. is that odd?
mostly in yosemite and tahoe basin
I just saw some in Montana too.. mom and cubs
whereas I have seen loons.
I've been within 7 feet of a bear camping
i have never camped.
never.
where was the bear camping? and what sort of tent did it use? a pup tent?
ah..
we were in sleeping bags and it was looking for food
you must have looked like sandwiches. that's what you get for camping.
so you were the take-away? already wrapped and ready to go?
more like twinkies to the bear I guess
a little firm on the outside and squishy in the middle
where did you dry your hair or plug in the radio or do anything civilized? i am very city.
uh.. we didn't have a radio .. and we let our hair dry in the wind
even on safari in zimbabwe we had showers and so on
we had a lake
wee well -- FW for the first time in ages.
i would just feel oppressed in the wild without electricity.
yeah jilli... way to go
*well well
oh, yeah ruru, can just see it...ruru, beating chest with fists, emitting a 'tarzan' call as the wind blows through his locks.
well done jill :D
ty mab!
WTG JILLI!!!
you'd look kind of silly dragging bit extension cord in the wild mab
back when I had a chest and Lock granny :D
ty rose
locks
well aren't you the bright spark, ruru? mab could just plug into you.
i'd wander aimlessly, shouting 'anyone know where the bus stop is?¨
LOL
awww, poor mab. it's over here, dear. behind this bear
I used to be an avid camper as a kid
and time to say goodnight all...*poof
night jilli
night jilli. hope you sleep well.
do you now keep your locks in a chest?
night jilli
yes haven't used them or the straps in year mab
ru is maybe on the za6 side.
years
LOL
what straps? (kinky ru)
*blinks* Innocently
stepping out of the room for a few. brb

Huggles,
Sleep well jbp

night, jbp.
okay Rose--I knew there was a way to stop that--Just salt, nothing else
ruru, huggles, cross between hugs and cuddles
as far as i am aware, pugs. unless ruru has another idea.
Oh thought you were recommending diapers to pugs
ugh, ruru, that's huggies...lolol

nor pull ups or swimmers before you go there-lol
lolololol, pugs
Hows Don doing Rose
That depends pugs :D
i think he's okay. we are having a lot of 'close' moments. he needs lots of hugs.
That's good, Rose, for both of you. Did you have the relaxing day you hoped for?
and i am quite willing to supply the hugs....anything else is a tad difficult.
hey all, fw for joso, fw for joso

Liz, here it is: http://tinyurl.com/l6ulkc6
Sprite I worked your horse puzzle,,it was pretty and I enjoyed it
snap, joso :)
wow pug, good job! It is an evil one with all that black and the flames
rose, my dear, how are you holding up?

Ooooh! I like that Sprite! i did your 2nd stars one today and will probably try the tulips soon! Love the stars though.
did you do the 400+ or the 200+ one, pug?
of which
of the horses puzzle, pug
sprite....the fingernails on the left hand are almost the same length as the ones on the right hand. does that answer your question?
I didnt look Sprite
I've saved the link, Sprite. Thanks.
thought you might like it, Liz, I had a load of fun making it. And yes, the stars, might make another one of those, it is fun producing those kaleidoscopes. Glad you enjoyed it!
Will also do the horses soon - that looks very "cool" though maybe "hot" is better.
but the appetite is still down...probably a good thing...
That's good about your nails Rose.
Give it time, Rose. Perhaps a good thing but you've had a lot of stress and shock in the last couple of weeks.
*sigh* yes it does, rose, my dear friend. Will think of you even more. It is a errrr wellllllll challenging time, isn't it.
liz, a sure indication that the stress levels a way down.
what are your feelings about the knee, do you think the fix will work?
oh! That is good! I thought you meant you had been eating up your other hand as well. Goood!
The nails? Of course but your body needs time to catch up!
it will come back Rose---you have had a few shocks to the system here of late
OK going back to iPad, so don't be surprised if I'm less chatty.
*smug side note* Upper two rows done.
if you all knew how challenging. having to work with fang is an accomplishement on it's own. DH has sVED A TEXT MESSAGE FROM HER, SAYING WHATEVER WE DECIDE IS OKAY.
ugghhh, sorry.
smug smug note, all done, hahahahaha
oh that is awesome. Very smart to save it. Yep, permission granted for anything you do, and no going back on it.

Cool Ishult - hadn't gone as far as the time! Though as a friend on FB posted "To all friends in the US, 11.12.13 is so last month!" Made me laugh.
hehehe I was thinking the same thing, Liz. We put the day first too
Grrr! 3 x f left! One 5 and 2 x 6 letters!
Didn't know that Sprite.
liz, which letters?
I think everywhere except the US puts the date first.
3 in the middle from fe 5 / 26 on.
ahhh, liz replace plural letter with the z
fe combo's, Liz? I have F + not in a hard way , plus pt and 3rd pers sing

Have a good evening, pugs
probably from Yiddish.
sprite if it's za6, well done, girl
it is, rose
Someone said Yiddish but not a word I knew!
Not that I speak Yiddish but do know quite a few words!
it is german for juicy, like with an orange.
LOLOL but it means full-bodied, like in a woman, curvacious ladies.
Wow! Another German word I've forgotten. My degre was in German but really it was the literature I loved.
well that leaves me out of the equation. i'm just plain obese...
wow, a degree in German! I can read it well, speak it a little, but I will never ever get those das-des-dem-der issues right.
me too, rose, me too. We are doubly za6.
Nah, Rose curvy and huggable! Just ask don.
awww, liz....thanx hun...
Same for you sprite only not don!
:)
liz, rob, hun, rob
hehehe no, my love is Rob. And he thinks I am beautiful, za6 and very very huggable.
whew...i got it right...lol
Exactly! Sorry couldn't remember robs name :(
fireflies. Toughest words to find were the sm words for me.
I usually call him my love anyway, Liz, grin.
Congrats, sprite
WTG SPRITE!!!
Ishult, I just emailed my love and sent him the time stamp you gave us. He loves that kind of thing too.
3 lucky ladies with awesome hubbies.
not sure what DH is doing...it definitely isn't cooking dinner...ah, well...
Mines doing just that!
too true, Liz. I am so lucky to have Rob as my husband.
yeah, liz. i really must stop and recognise that fact...
How long have you been with Don, Rose?
now i have to behave...he has come up here to the lounge room.
darlings, I am off to be productive for a bit. *hugs* for you. Enjoy your evening and sleep well.
tell him hi from me, rose, and to kick Fang in the lower cheeks if she does as much as look the wrong way.
liz, 9 1/2 years. was divorced fromfirst husband in 1992, on grounds of infidelity.
Have a good day - hugs, sprite.
xoxox sprite.
Similar to me then only hubby got divorced. Benn together since June 2003.
liz, he has been my friend for over 30 years.
That's wonderful.
It feels like we've always been together!
yeah, hun. got it right this time. he was my friend first, then my husband. took him over 6 years to realise how much he loved me...lolol
We were friends for 6 months first!
friends first, then lovers and spouses...always a good order.
The best. I've always thought that.
And in our case, the fact that he's stayed friends with Rollin and she's happy with her partner is just perfect.
we have just realised that we are both free to travel overseas...first stop UK, then europe, canada and america.
Fantastic. You must do the Rockies and Alaska. It was so much better than we'd ever dreamed.
Europe and UK also great.
good morning
we are looking at next september. SIL is travelling over then, to release MIL's ashes on the isle of harris.
Hi Ruby - hugs.
Rose, you can visit Ruby :)
{{ruby}} my darling.
is there a list?
liz, already on the itinerary.
maggie, lickety has a list.
Yes Maggie. Lickety.
How long will you travel for?
hmm my Lickety shows yesterday's list ...
liz, as long as it takes. me??? looking at 6 months.
maggie, login to lickety, then refresh
Jealous! No, not really you deserve it.
ty
np's maggie
that is happy news!!! We are 35 minutes south of Geneva airport, 1 20min from Lyon . Even the idea of meeting Rose and Don makes me happy!
Don't rush it. Take time to enjoy it all to the full.
So exciting, Ruby.
(and I need some smiles!)
HOWEVER, I A not ZA6! stress SEEMS TO MAKE E LOSE WEIGHT
Poor Ruby. I wish I could say something to make you smile or better still, to help your situation.
whoop, sorry for caps. My hands are so cold I can barely type
ruby....i love the way you look, hun. but if it effects your health, then i am not happy.
aagghhh. other SIL has had major female recon. surgery. all is good. my heart goes out to her.
Glad all's OK. Look after yourself. I'll be back tomorrow hugs :)
you would think that in this day and age, this sort of surgery is not necessary in the civilised world. well, apparently it is. jeanette is quite ignorant.
liz, xoxox to you dear. see you tomorrow.
Hope all goes well tomorrow.
okay, xoxox to pugs if i haven't done so. see anyone left at the flip.
anybody still here? Husband got back from the store and is sitting in a chair with his Campari, talking to himself, because he says he has nobody to talk tol
Hahahaha - is he getting good responses?
Hi ruby - I'm in and out (got a dodgy tummy and have to keep running off lol). How are you? xx and do you know how many words today please? I'm guessing about 60 ish x
worzel - you must cheat p you are always so close. 56 today.
ergs
sorry
Hi Dianne - no, honestly - I'm just really good at guessing - the other day I forgot to give my guess and somebody put the amount up for me and it was EXACTLY what i was going to suggest - I would hae felt SO proud of that one, too! Oh, and thanks for ergs lmao!!
Then the next time I buy a lotter ticket I'll ask you for the number :)
*lottery
that's fair enough Dianne. We have a National Lottery over here in UK and they doubled the price a couple months ago so me & my gf stopped playing and joined another lottery system and the first week I got a free ticket for getting 2 numbers and the next week I got £20 for 3 numbers - all within the first 2 weeks - so here's to the big one! (And don't worry - I'll remember my Babble friends!!!) xx
Keep up that good work!
I stopped playing the lottery when we moved to France. It becomes ANOTHER compulsion, fear that if you don't play the same numbers every week, they'll comeup the one time you don't play
How cold is it there Worzel. It is bitterly cold but sunny here. At least we don't have sow
It's unseasonally warm - it's about 11 or 12 in the North of the UK at the moment - average for this time of year is around 5 or 6. Bit overcast but according to met office end of next week we are due a MASSIVE storm with winds over 100 miles an hour. That should be fun
"batten down the hatches"
We had a storm here about 2 weeks ago and everybody was like "OMG it's awful and so unexpected" even though it's the middle of winter and the Met Office had been issuing warning for over a week. Such a bunch of pansies in this country!!!
Fair -15°F -26°C Wind Chill -31°F (-35°C)
hahah
that's what I've heard. 2 in of snow and London shuts down!
ruby you're not wrong there. I remember when I was small in 1977 we had a proper winter. We had 4 foot of lying snow and in some places 20 foot snowdrifts with temperatures down to minus 20 in places and my Dad walked 8 miles to work and 8 miles home again. These days if somebody sneezes in their car the whole road system grinds to a halt!!! Bunch of Mary's the lot of 'em!!!
n erd
good morning my friends:)
Hello peeps, how is everyone? Worzel, where are you located?
there is life!!! good morning, mummy:))
Hi Crossy, ~~I was beginning to wonder if the world had ended!! and nobody had told me

18 words left/////
I can almost eat bacon again(if I am careful) so I am happy
wrap the bacon in whiskey, it will numb your mouth as it goes down
mmm whiskey bacon
It thinkwe need to get a patet
patent*
what if we marinate the bacon in whiskey overnight then brush it with honey and sprinkle with fresh ground black pepper and bake in da oven
OMG, I'd thin "id died and gone t heaven
the royal family loves bacon this way sans the whiskey
unless you have to pass typing tests to get in
I ought to like whisky as I am half Scottish, but I got so drunk on it when I was 18 I can't even stand the smell of it now...
lol, mummy. I will marinate yours in triple distilled vodka
that's funny, mummy, I know what you mean. It tok me 30 odd years to get over feeling that way about tequila. Now, however, the feeling is gone
Oh dear, same thing happened with Vodka, on my friends hen night, she ended up sober and had to take me home!
crossy cannot drink teuila.:(( I am still not over it
18 words left, but it's time to lie down in front of the fire as I am freezing
poor ruby:((
and rum and gin, the only things I drink now are beer, red wine and the occasional port after dinner
neat shots of good quality tequila can get you over most hurdes
or even hurdles
I just cannot get past the taste
hurdes? how many have you had today??
add a little orange or lemon juice and some sugar. That should do the trick
if you judged my sobriety by my spelling in babble, you would think I am drunk all the time
as Molly would sayty, it's Grappa Nel after lunch
i save it all for my English classes
notice , however, that i did put a cap on the word English
(2 grappas at lunch)
Join the club!!!! and yes, I'd forgotten grappa, disgusting stuff. better go now and do something more constructive with my day, catch you later when I return for the final 11 words... byee
<--impressed with caps
i used to prefer flaming zambucas
now I'm eating dates, sweet and full of fiber! Straight from Algeria
Hello, everyone! Crossy, yesterday's grid had a phantom for you: poink.

For those of you who didn't see my part of chat yesterday, the dinner with my daughter went very well...I'm so relieved.
anyone know a reason why a word entered will not register in the list?

how again do I get rid of the green box ad just below the grid?

Yesterday someone told me what to do and it isn't working today

got the same ad -- refreshed and it went away

hello all - back for the 11 I didn't find last night.

hi crossy
none that does not basically mean just spelling it out.it is a strange word
there is no word I even know that is even remotely like it.have to think
za + huck finn rode on a ra** + three little p**s....
there we go,.i figured it would be reduced to that
ty pen
mean curvaceous..i think
entirely new word for me!
for me as well.hope it vanishes for 5 more years before I have to find it again
lol - isn't that the truth!
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the za and thanks to lickety for the other 10
and now it is time for crossy's all new brain teaser of the day!!!!
Six logicians finish dinner. The waitress asks, “Do you all want coffee?†First logician: “I don’t know.†Second logician: “I don’t know.†Third logician: “I don’t know.†Fourth logician: “I don’t know.†Fifth logician: “I don’t know.†Sixth logician: “No.†Who gets coffee and why?
if I were the waitress, they'd all get coffee - poured on their heads!
(there are reasons i'm not a waitress)
lol
does it have to do with the difference between "does every single one of you want coffee" and "are there some of y'all who want coffee"?
you are very close
I will give it 5 minutes and post the answer
so i'll guess no one gets coffee, because the 6th one knows that the others do not all necessarily want it
**watches clock anxiously**
All but the 6th logician get coffee.
If any of the first five didn't want coffee, he or she could have just said no. But if they wanted coffee, the only answer they could give would be "I don't know."
ok.time for the answer....
The waitress has asked, “Do you all want coffee?†In saying “I don’t know,†each of the first five logicians is saying, “I want coffee, and at this moment it does appear possible that all six of us do, but we don’t yet have enough information to say so definitively.†The sixth logician doesn’t want coffee, so he’s able to say for certain that not everyone in the group does. So the waitress serves coffee to the first five logicians
the emphasis is on "do you ALL want coffee?"
not to be confused with some of the southern states and "do y'all want coffee?"
I don't buy it! If I didn't want coffee, I COULD just say no, but I could also say I don't know. Maybe the puzzle should say "6 impeccably honest logicians finish dinner..."
No, Pastor, if you don't want coffee, you have to say no, because one person not wanting coffee necessarily means not all of them want it.
oh, ok! i'll buy that!
well,me must assume at this pijnt that they are honest
then please send 'em to my church! maybe they can teach folks to say what they really mean! ;->
gotta go - hagd!
tc pastor
hey everyone :) small board today...
maybe i'll actually finish it
One left. ge 4,7 I've been monkeying like mad but come up empty. Does anyone have a clue?

i like your logic question, crossy. shows the value of carefully parsing what words mean.
i came late and got the answer before the question...
but i like to think i would have gotten it right.
being a language nut
glad you liked it,mab:))
"The abnihilisation of the etym by the grisning of the grosning of the grinder of the grunder of the first lord of Hurtreford.." - James Joyce, Finnegans Wake
There is a bronze statue of James Joyce, with his walking stick in Dublin city centre. It is simply known as The Brain With The Cane.
Finnegans Wake is well beyond my competence.
You'll get nice pics of it if you Google Image it.
Have you tried Uless... Ulyssesss.. Yooley Says?

Hi there minv!!
I was able to babble with ea 4/4 today. The list was not an as 5/10 for me today, but I must confe 4/7, I did use it.I have one word left so here's a story in ca4/5 anyone needs one. I am also ama5/24 at how babblers can finish grids in no time at all. I am going to go watch the film "Co 4/6".Be back later to chat & clue
Did you go surfing today, Jj?
LOL, went to work in dark and came home at sunset...did switch back to lighter jacket...does that count....LOL
Close enough.
I assume you are back in short sleeves? ;)
Had to get the sun screen out.
Did break into a rousing chorus of "We're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave." Very traditional for my family when temps pop back above zero.
Of course, enjoyed the cold snap so much that we are flying back east Friday to catch iit there!
I hung a sheet on the clothesline to block the wind and got some rays.
Future's so bright he had to wear shades!
One day at a time ... this too shall pass ...
Love your icon today o-o
Yes, an interesting one.
Well off to chores. May not be babbling much until after Christmas with traveling...so don't let any rumors start OK o-o?
N
Never ... be well
Enjoy
And you too...have a great holiday season!
Thank you.
And I will enjoy, our high maintenance eldest is finally graduating college!! Plus we will all be together as a family. Doesn't get better than that1

I am well, Min, thanks. Tired, feeling like the world's worst teacher today -- making so many mistakes and feeling so inept. The experienced teacher who is helping me is wonderful and encouraging but doesn't sugar-coat. Which is good, but I wish she had had a magic bullet that would fix my beginner's mistakes.
Min, when you click on my profile, does it pull up a Christmas picture with ornaments and a "saying?"
She doesn't, but she assures me that no one will miss out on going to Harvard due to my learning curve. :-)
How are you?
going to list at 5 to go. brb
clue for the za6 please
Yes MimiCat, it does. Hard to read saying but still beautiful

I'd been saving that word since early on this morning stid.
i am not getting the za word, it is making me bonkers
wow -- LOL I am never that patient. But I am glad you are!
it's a German word -- means temptress, I think.
full-bodied or well proportioned according to the dictionary.
Let's see if the Xmas tree loaded this time.
I always just thought it meant Marilyn Monroe. LOL
Looks like it did, Mimi

YAY peach!
fireworks for me
Good Evening Everyone. How are you all on this cold cold evening?
i am off to shop online
good night all from concord nc, usa
aww stidmama thanks for asking
i do have good news :) but not quite the awesome news i'm still waiting for...
i got really good feedback from my interviewer about my video, but he still has to send it to the school and hear from them
he said he hopes to get something definitive from the school by the end of the month, though. :)
so... given that he liked it, i can probably bet that the school will like it too, and i'll get a job offer by the end of the month :D
I do hope you get the offer, Rows.
thanks Nef :)
it will be really exciting if i do, cos this is basically a great position for me at a really good school in a city i think i will be happy in...
so it could be where i end up settling
Congratulations suefrad625 on your fireworks! Way to go!
sending good vibes your way! What would you be teaching?
thanks! i'd be teaching kindergarten
same as i've been doing last year and this year
Goodbye suefrad625! I will see you tomorrow maybe in log
Hi Min. How are you this evening?
but not kindergarten really as the US would define it... my students are 3 and 4
and in Taipei the job is for a kindergarten position teaching 4 and 5 year olds
so, what we call pre-K then?
Hello Rows! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
yeah
Hello Nef! How are you doing today? Welcome to the chog.
but they actually learn a lot of the things that US kindergarteners learn
just things are adapted for their developmental stage
i'm doing great Minver
and you?
Rows. that job sounds like it would suit you well, and I am glad your reviewer liked the video! Keeping my figners crossed for you.
I'm doing okay, Min. How are you?
thank you!
(((((((Nef))))))) I miss you, dear friend.
And that's how is should be!There so many kindergardeners here who aren't on kindergarten level. It is very frustrating!
Hi stid! I miss you too! I rarely get online at this time of day anymore; but I'm procrastinating doing my Christmas cards and found myself here!
yeah... well there are all kinds of ranges within my classes, too... kids develop at such different rates, is the problem
hi all
I am well. I actually might get to bed earlier tonight since I finished grid already & have no school work to do for once
so i think the model they do in Asia is best, where they have them go to kindergarten for 3 years before primary school
gives them more time to get ready for "real" school
That sounds very interesting, Rows.
Hello JenMO16! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog.
Hi Jen
hi nef and min!
i was working in a kindergarten in China last year, and it's a 3-year program
can really be 4, cos there is even pre-kinder there... 2 year olds
Wow. 2 years old would be really pushing it, wouldn't it?
haha yeah... i had some kids who were under 2 last year, too
Speaking of getting to bed earlier, I am going to retire for the night. I leave you with a story of clues in profile. Adios!
it's a bit crazy
they are still babies
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I will see you tomorrow.
I have to find the box of New Years cards we bought... It is going to take a while to write about this past year, and I am trying to wait until I can include some pics of the house "almost done" so people can see we are going to be okay. I don't think everyone on our list necessarily knows yet...
goodnight minver!
I know children who have been in "school" since they were 6 weeks old
sweet dreams, dear Min -- wonderful to step across the line with you today!
Good night, Min! Take Care!
nite, min
This will be the first year in many that we won't be doing a Christmas letter. There has been too much happening this year to write about
yeah... i think there is a point where it goes overboard, Jen
i wouldn't put my kid in school until maybe 3, and it really depends on the kid
your house is almost done, stud? Wow! I didn't realize it's been that long!
but see, if the parent works.....
Rows, it can be hard to know what to do sometimes. Parents sometimes feel they have to keep working so they don't lose ground professionally. The only reason I stayed home was the kiddo's health issues.
any clue for the er 5/10?
STID! (Dang Spellcheck!!!)
NO. It isn't almost done. BUT we have a roof now, and the plumbing is lmost done
oh i know that parents need to work... but i'm talking about sending a kid to *school*
Rows: think british for "backside" only start with er..
versus having a nanny or some other daycare option for them
thanks stid :)
I guess I am thinking that if they have to pay for daycare anyway, perhaps an environment designed to stimulate and enhance learning is more appealing. Nannies are so expensive...
sure, but i just mean it should depend on the kid
and also the school
i have definitely seen kids at age 2 and 3 who were definitely not ready to go to school
and many of the "daycare" places that aren't specifically designed for learning (around here at least) are pretty much rooms with floor mats and tbs on all the time. And I agree -- so much depends on what the child needs.
at least not the school i was working in...
montessori-style, or waldorf, or some other type of school?
are you asking about the school i was working in?
Our grandson is 4 1/2, there are no kids in our neighborhood and he goes to preschool 3 hours/day 3 days/week. I told my son that he won't get toys from me; I will pay for another day of preschool/week instead. He really needs to be with kids more...
ah
yes Rows, what kind of teaching do you do? (other than excellent, which is what I always expect babblers to be!)
and kids need that nef
haha
help with the 'z' please
it was just a Chinese kindergarten, but we were implementing international baccalaureate curriculum
or as close to as you can in a Chinese school
IB = international baccalaureate
something pretty not-overwhelming for anyone really...
but school in general was just overwhelming for some of them
IB for under-5s???? *mind boggles, gasps, and implodes*
za 6 or ze 4
need more than that Jen?
yes haha
wow! That sounds frightening to me…..
IB PYP
za6 please
it actually can work really really well
and these kids are in China, which is an academically-focused country, so their parents encourage them to do homework, etc.
so they are better equipped for it than my Honduran students could be if we tried it here
i am somehow missing how there can be so many fe words that are 5 and 6 letters long
i've tried so many combinations and nothing is working...
so far i just have the two fe 4 words
I can think that it would establish expectations and routines early on, and the kind of teaching I am familiar with for Chinese students would fit well... but still. My heart says that little kids actually benefit from huge quantities of unstructured time in which to explore their environments and social skills
yes! and they got that, actually
it was really nice
what is the za6 word stid?
za 6: think MArilyn Monroe. A german word, meaning well-proportioned and womanly.
IB PYP is great for their curious nature and it simply lets them have inquiry-based learning, which is more natural than being spoon-fed specific things that they might not care about
za + the type of leaf used by Adam and Eve with a random letter thrown in
I am too young for Marilyn Monroe
sorry
:-) no probs, Jen -- did the other clue work?
thinking
can anyone help me with any of the fe 5 or 6 words?? i am somehow brian farting on all of these...
i have tried tons of combinations
not really stid
okay, ZA + consonant, plus the "bouncy" friend of Pooh ***ger
okay i found the hats
the fe 5/6/6 combo is this.....fe + vowel + high point letter + vowel....then add endings, pl and pt....
I have played babble so long, Rows, that strange clue no longer fa4 me. also past and present tense
haha thanks pen
fe5's and 6's can be spelled 2 two different ways for the "s" sound
i needed a dummy clue
anyway, lots to grade tonight. And I have to do it myself... LOL some things I can't leave to a TA! :-)
got it, thanks, stid
stid, sorry, i feel so selfish... i haven't even asked you about your day
good luck!
Long, rows -- LOL middle school just before the winter break. And a sprinkler water line broke yesterday, sending us all out into the rain until we figured out what tripped the fire alarm... It has been a busy week!
Thanks for asking.
Tomorrow we are back on track and working hard! :-) See you-all again soon. *poof*
oh my, stid!
aw man
well i hope that you can get some rest this evening!
anyone heard of Trans-Siberian Orchestra?
strange
they are awesome Jen
i've heard of them yes
I think I would go blind going to one of their concerts, I am watching them on TV
but i have not heard of the sm words before!
who has??
so weird
Sorry, I got distracted by DH. stid, take care of yourself; and good night!
lots of bright lights?
yes and flashing!
fireworks here
so bits of flashing :)
Jen, they are coming to The Cities next week and I'm trying to talk DH in to going to their concert with me. (No luck so far)
YAY, ROWS!!! WTG!!!
woohoo rows
:) thanks!
i think i'm gonna watch some drop dead diva before i go to bed
I would walk out with a headache nef, they were here in KC some time ago
thanks for keeping me company, guys
have a good night! :)
nite rows
niters, Rows!
sorry about that, they are coming to KC Dec. 22
Jen, I've never seen them (even on TV) but I've heard them and even have some of their CD's. Maybe I should check them out on You Tube or Netflix first?
maybe you should, they do have some solemn moments
I will do that. DH is such a stick-in-the-mud about doing anything he considers "cultural;" although part of it may be that he worries about crowds and being squeezed into a non-handicapped seat that would constrict him too much
reminds of the rock group KISS
(he keeps interrupting me to see what I want to do with some papers he's sorting right now; never mind that I told him once already that I sorted that pile of papers already and I DO want to save those!
well I have done all I can do on this grid, need to get to bed
I never saw KISS either; I was older than that I guess.
I have 8 left; I guess I'll finish it.
ok, nite nef
Niters Jen. Sleep well!
thanks
Finished (needed Lickety for last 5; many interruptions from DH along the way.
nice work nef!
Thanks, LA. My last word was fe 5/26, and it was nearly invisible to me
ah. they are cool.
yay nef!
and hi, nef and leslieann!

Thanks sue. (((Frank & Sue))). Keeping you two in my thoughts and prayers……..
thanks! we really appreciate it.
for 6s i have: 4 fe, 1 ma, 1 sm. what is the other?
za
oh. well then. have been avoiding the z
za 6/48 and ze 4/10
not too scary, LA
aha!
3 left: c, m, e
hey Sue! Wouldn't you say that zap describes the two of us? (ROLF!)
(that was za 6; spell check is harassing me tonight
haha, pretty much!!
ah, i was wondering if i was missing a wizard joke or something
just missing a c5 now
do you have the latin plural of co4?
alternate plural?
oh bugger, no. thanks sue, fireworks!
"pleasantly plump" or "full bodied, well-proportioned" according to Enable
and penquis
do you have the greek plural of the snoozy guy
YAY, LeslieAnn!!! WTG!!!
yay leslieann!
congrats leslie
snoozy guy! makes it sound like a vacation
the optimists view of co4

es not in a co4, es just pining for the fiords
I need to go snuggle with the grandson; he needs Gramma tonight I guess. Good Night
