Ruby, you have nothing to be ashamed about. And think about it this way, the IRS would much rather have monthly payments from you than to put you in jail. There is a solution to this, I'm sure of it.
My son agrees. But even with a monthly ,payment that would exceed all that's left
Ruby. I know you see your situation as desperate. However, you are allowing yourself to imagine worst case scenarios - extradition, passport withheld, prison etc. you must stop focusing on what MAY happen. I think an email to JMC would be very worthwhile.

The IRS wants their money so they will make a payment plan with you. ruby is not going to trial so a judge is not involved.
And, from personal experience, I found that if you say 'OK. This is what I have. I can afford to pay you X percentage of that, they will agree. X percent is far preferable than nothing

That's pretty disturbing...especially since those passports were stolen more than a year ago. With all this security, one would think it would trigger something
i don't get it either. a couple of months ago, a young man got through airport security here with a pipe bomb. and THEN was allowed to continue on his flight!
And old people with hip replacements get frisked...
So what was the reason for letting him to continue flight
because TSA is a poorly thought out joke, and does nothing to actually increase security. Though I'm not sure we can blame this incident on TSA, since the flight wasn't US origin and I have no idea what security was where it was boarded.
