I was told to show up at 8 AM. I did. Working for a major gi-normous corporation means that one has to be met by a 'legit' employee and escorted on to the plant, when one starts out.
(this is my 5th gig with The Man), and something goes awry every time)
so I show up, and drive over to where I will be working, and my manager says, 'we aren't ready for you. we had no idea you were coming today.'
And ...

so I ended up soaking up what I could for about an hour and then came home and took a nap.

We don't have any restaurants here, and when we are in cities, hubby really likes French, seafood, or steak places, so we never seek Indian. Some day I would like to try it... as long as it isn't heavy with curry.
Like I said - there are many different styles. My local in London used to do a tandoori salmon - yummy!

dee, it's the spices which give the typical flavour. indian cooking uses more spices than ready mixed curry powders.

But at least they know, now. Little compensation that it is.

This morning they were suggesting that the cockpit might have lost oxygen - it's sealed from the rest of the plane but they don't really know.
for goodness sake!! families are asking why the indian ocean wasn't searched before. it wasn't supposed to be over the indian ocean. why would you search it? dee, not until the black box is recovered.
I think that is the most disconcerting part to me... the not really knowing what happend.
It's also a huge area! They used some new maths to try to locate a possible flight path.

pug, you shouldn't need wifi to use your ereader. There should be a cord that connects the reader to the computer without needing wifi. Just the hardwiring kind of cord.

yes, you can download the books to your computer. And then by connecting the ereader and the computer with the cord, you can drag and drop the files to your ereader.

Sprite -- if you are still using XP STOP. It will not be supported after April 8 which means no more security. Anyone could come in and take what they want and leave a worm behind.

everybody should have antivirus and firewall. No matter which os you are using.
the microsoft updates will cease, but as long as your anti-virus updates regularly theres nothing to worry about. XP is still the most user-friendly OS out there.

yes, the updates fix holes in the security of the os, that is true. But a good antivirus program that also detects worms and such will work.

sprite: probably windows 7 is easier to use than windows 8. Might be worth waiting for a new one though. I stlll use XP myself, tho I have some heavy-duty anti-virus software.

ruru - yeah, I agree. But if you're not 100% confident with computers, 7 is the easiest change from XP, as 8 is virtually incomprehensible in many ways.

7 has got some nice new features but I too miss some of the stuff I used to do automatically - still can't find them

For anyone who has a wood burning fireplace, an outdoor fire pit or who camps...save your toilet paper rolls and stuff them with dryer lint from the lint screen. They make great fire starters.

You can melt some old candles to mix the wax in with the lint, too
If you get your eggs in cardboard cartons, you can use those, too, filled with lint and wax. Tear off one or two to start your fire.

we save our tp rolls for sculpture race poo- decorate and fill with candy for the kids every year lol. this year crocodile poo. :D

I dry the polyesters, etc. on a different drying cycle. I don't use that lint. I just use the lint from the stuff I can dry on high heat

bichon - there is a big difference between parkinsons and essential tremor... I am continually surprised that regular neurologists don't know the difference.
The first Neurologist said, he couldn't rule out Parkinsons, but he saw sign of it. The Neurologist at Yale said he saw no signs of it. That's a big difference and a relieving one
I first went due to balance problems, which have not been solved
I have been through all the meds. There is nothing that works for me anymore.
But I hear you about the balance issue.
I am taking Primodone. There isn't a vast improvement, but some. The balance issues are more worrisome.
Everything has been ruled out
When I took Primodone, I started running into walls. Had to walk slower.
I haven't had any side effects, fortunately. My father had tremors too.
That is what makes the diagnosis for ET.
