good morning 'son' how are you?
Mighty fine, Mum, mighty fine! And your lovely self??? xx
doing okay. hydro getting easier to cope with. even with weights around the ankle...lol
That's something I don't need - weights around my ankle lmao!!! Mum do you have a clue for the e in the fourth column please? It's my last for nbt xx
my GP was really chuffed at how much strong pain meds i had stopped taking. next step, so to speak....drive the car....
And I'm glad to hear the hydro is going better for you xx
it's also the 8, en8, en + what you do with your mouse on the screen, by rolling the little wheel
Ahhh - thank you! xx How long is it since you last drove a car Mum? x
FWs
since 2nd december, when i had my surgery. i have to be strong pain med free before i get behind the wheel again.
WTG DIZ!!!
wtg diz xx
Mum I guess the driving/pain relief thing is due to the meds possibly making you droswy
drowsy, even!!
yes, love. they also impair my judgement and reaction times.
I remember that feeling - although with me it was alcohol, in my younger days, that impaired my judgment - in more ways than one lol. Thank goodness I've matured. I say matured . . .
roan
oh crap sorry!!
np's worzel...i am done here. probably not a lot of players on at the moment. had the grandkiddies with their daddy here today. lolol...talk about turn a house up-side down in milliseconds.
I don't have children nor although I did have step-grandchildren when I was with my first wife - two adorable girls called Ellen and Sirena and I think in the entire ten years I knew them they not once misbehaved. Not that your grandchildren do, of course, I was just saying lol. I think the great majority of kids these days get a bad name because of the odd few that really aren't nice, but it doesn't make me feel paternal lol. I always say "I'll make an excellent babysitter - at least you get to hand them back!!"
Hi all:)
hey ya liz
Morning Liz xx
I'm sure you've had a wonderful day with the gkids, Rose.
Understand what you're saying, worz. Taught primary and loved it but never wanted my own kids.
they are so sweet. and baby braxton is going to have blue eyes, and blod curls. he is such a happy baby.
ummm...that would be * blond*
You'll have to update his pic in your profile.
My first wife was 17 years older than me and already had an adult daughter but she went through a phase in our early marriage where she wanted a child by me. I wasn't really up for it, but didn't have the nerve to tell her. Thankfully it didn't happen for us, but then, everyone says I'd make a wonderful Dad because I'm so easy going and fun (apparently) but I think it's something in your DNA that you either want children or you're not that bothered. I don't dislike children, don't get me wrong, it's just not something that's ever been of interest to me x
liz, we are all getting together for easter. new pics will be available then. oh, and i am going to deacon's first football game, he is playing for the under 8's, and he's only 5.
Oh! That's so cute Rose. I can just imagine you cheering him on.
I'll look forward to the new pics.
*giggle* son simon was explaining that at that age group they don't tackle, they just run around throwing the ball to each other, and try to kick a goal or two.
Right, I have to dash now as I'm off to a stamp fair in a minute. I shall talk to you all v v soon and wish you all a marvellous day/eventide wherever your timezone takes you! xx
You too worz xx
and they don't sc5 either
enjoy worzel
ty xx *poof*
Oh! Silly moi. You don't mean soccer!
roflol....we are aussies, oy, oy, oy
Football is still soccer in my mind!
So, you'll still cheer him on!
*hands on hips, head wagging* of course i will, that's what grannies do.
Of course they do. And tell him how wonderful he was, whether it's true or not!
yeah, i lie really well...like the time i told you....oops, nearly let the cat out of the bag.
But of course it will be true for Deacon :)

*hugs Liz and rose*
yay you omni
hey Omni :)
sprite how are you today, dear? did you make a decision about the constellation thingy?
just walked away for a minute, thanks for the 8 Liz
Yw
yay you ishult.
I am pretty good, rose :) And yes, I think I have. I think I will try and start working with the stuff I already know. Keep attending the days at Noud's for practice. Finalise my therapy with Antoinet this year. And next year, try and start the new study.
hi Ishult
oh, sprite...i am soo proud of you, dear.
aw thank you, my dear friend :)
Sounds good, sprite.
i know the decision was a difficult one, dear. and i think you made the right one.
thanks Liz :) And you, my friends? How are you today?
All's fine here thanks.
:-( i have been awake since 4am. knee woke me up, and the clock and don kept me awake..lolol. ah well, i can't have it all my way, right?
good to hear, Liz :)
:(
awww my darling... no, but it would have been nice if the knee had kept quiet. *gentle hug*
pray for me dear friends, tomorrow i am going without any slow-release strong pain med. i so want this to happen.
Good luck, Rose. But if it gets too much for you, take something. I know you want to be off the meds but ...
you are in my prayers all the time, hun. And you can do it. Just remember to take it really easy. Can't expect your body to do everything you do now without any pain meds... you need to take it easy.
i have to be free of this drug in order to drive the car...*sigh*
in time, it will all happen, rose. The only way to mess things up at this stage is to hasten it. Patience, my dear. First and formost with yourself.
i will continue to take it on hydro days....despite all beliefs, i'm not that silly.
foremost*
hehehe you aren't silly at all. Impatient, yeah, but not silly.
Don't think you're silly at all just desperate to be back to normal and independent :)
*wriggling in anticipation*
yep, exactly, that wriggling thing :D
oh, my. just saw a silver sugar sifter spoon go for nearly 400pounds on antiques roadshow. i have a slightly less ornate one from my mother's silverware.
wow, richness in the drawer :D
and did i tell you i have my great-great-great grandmother's pewter teapot? i love it?
oh how wonderful.
BBL hugs to you both
bye Liz, have a great evening
when i get around to polishing it, i will take a photo and post it..*please note the word...when*
hehehe whenever suits you, rose. But yes, would love to see it.
okay, liz, dear.i may be here....if this wretched woman keeps me chatting....*smiles fondly at sprite*
*smiles angelical and ties rose to her keyboard*
angelic? Angelically? Jeezzz no idea.
roflol, naughty sprite....your halo slipped, dear
lol, happens all the time
um, the second word, sprite, dear.
thanks darling. Some day I'll learn!
where's our little puglet? I hope she is feeling a little better... her email said so.
yes it did. and sprite, i wish i was as proficient in your native tongue.
you would be if you'd have learned it from your 12th year on, no doubt.
how's Don doing, rose? Any lingering muscle pains from the near-collision? And over his feelings of guilt?
true, sprite. but for now, i will have to rely on my school-girl french, enhanced by one of my grand-fathers, and my latin, from the other grand-father.
not bad at all there, rose :)
no, dear...lolol...but from having to dig trenches out of the clay...his arthritis in his shoulder and arm is very painful. i have promised both of us a massage tonight with the pain away arthritis cream.
oh that sounds so good! Make sure the massage gets done before things... errr.... deteriorate.... or improve... into something else...
oh, dear...and i know what you mean...it's saturday night.....love saturday night...;-)
:D
new word for the babble dictionary: mortire - to make deadly fatigued
ooh yeah...put it in, sprite
:) We are enriching the english language here so much.
there, added.
I know quite a few mortiring people, you? :)
i'm one...roflol
oh god no, you are not. Not even close. You always give me an energy boost.
fireflies for me. A rather friendly grid today. Darling, I am off. A big *hug* for you and enjoy the massage... both giving and receiving.
did you see simon brought the 3 little ones to visit today? my goodness...they are so active...being polite of course.
WTG SPRITE!!!
lololllll ok! Mortiring kids. But great that he brought them to visit.
and he brought flowers. you gotta love a son who brings flowers.
true, that! Good for him. He is learning, grin.
and we are going to watch deacon's first ever football match...should be a scream.
oh that is soooo sweet. Best moments of all... when they kick over the ball and still manage to keep their balance...
his age group is not supposed to tackle...he is only 5...but at the last session, he tackled a seven year old...knocked him flying...yay deacon.
gooooo deacon!
*hugs* and *poof*
finally handed over my father's stamp collection to his grandson. simon was so pleased. and i found his christening mug...i have polished it...
xoxox, sprite. enjoy your day my dear.
good morning?
good morning! :)
and back, have had dinner. hello ruby, xoxoxox, hello rbud, xoxoxo
Can't sleep any longer, so decided to get up and play a bit and then get to work early. Hello, everyone!
Surprised I'm so al5 at this hour!
hello, mimi. long time no see. is everything okay with you?
((rose)) Pretty good, thanks. Looks like you're doing well, yes?
yes, dear. much better this time. thanx. returning to work hopefully on the 29th april.
Good for you! I know you had it rough there for awhile. I'm really enjoying my patio. My silk trees with solar lights and color-changing stars make my little home magical every evening at dusk...happy.
Whoa---red box alert there for awhile!
yup...my last post got lost. :-(
I'm actually surprised more things like that don't happen with all those ions traveling through the air!
as i was saying....before being so rudely interrupted...you never know, mimi...one day i will be there to enjoy it with you.
Is there really a chance you might be coming for a visit? Love to meet you! I'm actually considering a trip to your area at some point as well.
hey, maybe we can meet halfway. yes, dear, with the monies from my mother's estate, next august i will be FREE.
Fabulous!! Good for you! I finally have a court date for my lawsuit so hopefully will get a settlement in June.
oh, wow!!! wouldn't it be wonderful!!
I'm planning to put most of it into investment money for the future but will have fun with part of it...travel is my first priority.
mimi, if i can't return to work this time, the company are going to have to pay me out. i am going to give it my best shot, but sometimes the pain is so bad.
Depending on how much you like work, why not just take the money and run and enjoy?!!
yeah, i know. but i love my work...and i love being not at work....i don't know...i just have to try...i don't like admitting defeat...:-(
I know you'll do the best you can but there are so many options still open to you for reinventing your life...you'll be fine either way.
yes, dear. and i hope the court decision goes your way, too.
If not, I'll be fine. After what I've been through the past 3 years, I'm just now happy to be in good shape again. I've decided that the best adjective to describe myself is tenacious!
ditto here, hun. hang in there, sweetie. i'm rooting for you...
Considering that I was seriously considering suicide at one point, there's very little that gets me down now. I'm just happy all the time and planning to stay that way. So good coming out on the other side of something terrible, isn't it?
oh, dear....jaw-breaking yawns here. i have made our bed up with my new egyptian cotton sheets today. they felt so lovely and soft. i have been awake since 4am, and it is now nearly 9:30pm. i think i might sleep tonight.
Am enjoying writing my book as well...though it's a slow process.
yes, mimi...yay for you, writing a book!!! not a thing i would consider doing...a tad out of my comfort zone...lolol
Good for you...enjoy those sheets and get really cozy.
mimi, i cried for 2 days about 2 months ago...and drank the better part of a bottle of bourbon. no repeats...and have had grief counselling since. so i, too, am gonna make it. you and i...we are survivors.
I've written all my life...wrote a one-act play when I was 10. I've had so many people tell me I should write an autobiography that I finally decided to do so. Aloy actually made me really good about it since she said it would be a good way to "teach" and show people ways to get to the other side of tragedy.
wow!!! let me know when it is printed...seems to me it will be a 'must' read.
I've had a lot of loss in my life but I mostly choose to focus on what I've gained instead. I am now a very strong woman and I'm grateful for that every day.
I never envisioned that I'd end up living alone at this point in my life but I'm really LOVING it. I have so many interests and such good people in my life...I feel blessed. I know my angels were working overtime there for awhile.
And Babble is such an amazing gift! I get to "talk" to people like YOU!
I'm going to make some breakfast and then get to work early so I can have the rest of the day for fun. Get some rest and sleep well, dear. So good to touch base with you. Big hug.
oh, dear, mimi....watch it...my head is beginning to swell. the shoe is on the other foot, my dear. it is MY privilege to get to 'speak' to people like you.
{{hugs}} and xoxox mimi
night to all who follow. hope you enjoy the grid. xxxx's to all my friends.
♥♥♥
good morning everyone:)
Phantom--Calorie. Those nasty little things that get into your wardrobe and shrink your clothes.
morning soodles:)
Hey Cross. :-)
Phantom : Scream.
Is my soodle still here?
Is my soodle still here?

{{zzoozz}}
((ruby))
Hello, Ruby :-)
how is your weather, zzoozz? We have odd grey skies, needing rain, but not getting it
lone e , fourth column please.
Same here, Ruby, although we do not need the rain.
don'thave it crossy. Our ground is parched
EN 8 Crossy
we are seeing our first rainy days since last year;)) we are slowly saying goodbye to the snow.
Been a mild winter for us..but very wet...ground is still sodden.
"good bye crossy's snow"
EN+ old parchment of paper curled up.
here, ti's been very ild and very dry
it was fun, but now the snowshoes are put away and the hiking stick and day pack are poised and ready:)
Ye i cam imagine it being a beautiful place to walk in spring & summer, Crossy.
took a practice hike the other day and it is amazing how one activity does not mean you are prepared for the other. crossy is so out of shape;(
it is amazing zooz, but I know you guys have some lovey areas for it as well
Agreed..I too am no where as fit as i used to be.
my "hiking" is limited to 20 minutes of walking my pup on our road. Beyond that, I want to lie down
see ruby? you help the dog and the dog helps you with nice walkies;)
I have gained a lb. of muscle!
yaaa!
last pic I saw of you, you look like you weight 80 pounds soaking wet, so a pound of muscle is a good thing!
weigh*
I hoved around 100 lbs., so one lb. of muscle inmy calves is a very good thing. I didn't know you could add muscle at my age
hover*
you can indeed, ruby:)
And i am done...any clues needed before i get on with boring chores?
lol, I weigh almost three ruby's :))
yaaa for zooz!
I will take a clue for that e 8 please
I clued it at 6:26 Crossy.
amaing, zzoozz! I'll take anything you can send, crossy! Does fedex accept refridgerated fat?
i wish it did, would send you 50lb of mine
LOL
ahh ty zooz
you two are terrible..lol
3 ruby's could be a easurement. Like Helens-- if it took a Helen to launch a thousand ships, you could judge beauty by the number of ships
or the numer of Helens
number*
for example "Although she may only weigh but a single "ruby" she has a face of ten "Helens""
I weigh next to nothing..if the winds picks up i go with it..lol
{{crosy}]
how much do you weigh, zzoozz, in stone is OK I can calculate
16 pounds to a stone?
Just about 9st dripping wet...yet i can easily eat for two.
i forget what a stone weighs
126 lbs.
Depends how big the stone is, Crossy, LOL
nm. got it a unit measure of "stone" = 14 pounds
It is 14 pounds in a stone, Crossy.
snap
Snap!
Double Snap! LOL
you owe me a beer zooz;)
Hi all :)
my snap disappeared in the cloud
howdy liz
Hey hang on..is it not the other way round..lol
16 ounces to a pound...and we wonder why we swapped to metric. How confusing it all was
Helo, Liz :-)
{{lizlin}} we're discussing weight in stones, kilos asnd lbs.
Hello all
Hello, Lynxxx :-)
{{lynx}}
kg in Australia but I convert to st and lb!
Hi Lyn
indeed, lynx. metric makes it all easier, and universal, except for one holdout who shall not be named:)))
the only thing I still can't do is peoples height
yesterday, I received a Christmas card from a friend in Australia, mailed on 11 November!
lol ruby!
Real snail mail!
Good gosh, Ruby!
we decided that it went tice around the world and then came by camel on the Silk Road
The postage must of been very low..lol
lol
twice*
OK alas my chores need doing..so i had better get on with it...then i will reward myself with a cup of tea & chocolate bar...nice to see you all..take care untill next time...byee!
{{zzoozz}}
Have a good day zooz :)
we had a friend who got a card that was mailed 15 years ago!. seems it was badly addressed and ended up in our version of the "dead letter" office where they try to decipher peoples handwriting. Unfortunately it fell between a space between a desk and a wall and sat there for all that time until they redecorated the space. it was then translated, and sent off.
this was correctly addressed, had more than 6 OX dollar in postage, and was in good shape. Hard to imagine
Wow! That's quite a story.
bye Zooz
OZ*
send the envelope back to your friend - he/she should demand a refund!
The sender who was the father of the recipient had passed in the interm, so it became a cherished thing upon arrival
That's really nice - at least it got to the right recipient.
sometimes i miss getting real letters(other than bills)
that's a nice story, crossy. My friend and I just had an electronic chuckle
Same here - I'm always hopeful!
Mail will probably all be gone in a few years
51 left but it's time for the NYT puzzle
I hope not.
see you later, kids
Have a good day Ruby - hugs.
{{annie}} hi and bye
bye Ruby
bye ruby, got to see you.
Hello Annie!
I suspect you're right, Lyn. Most bills are paid by phone or on the internet now too.
Hi Annie
Hi lynxxx :)
the price of a single postage stamp here is going up to a dollar!
and Liz, I am doing one of your jigsaw puzzles. I might finish by 2015 but it is very enjoyable.
Which one, Annie?
I'm glad you're enjoying it.
The Sunday beach scene.
$!.00 !!! When?
I can always create one with fewer pieces. I remember that - it was a lovely afternoon for a walk.
just recently
so, if i paid all my bills by mail, i would incur extra monthly costs of over $15/ month!
Liz, I am happy with this one even though it will take me forever.
A stamp in the US is 42 cents.
OK but if you want smaller ones, just ask.
so, i pay everything right at the bank or online
I will. Thanks, Liz
They say cheques will be obsolete in a couple of years too. That I can believe easily
last time i used a cheque was to set up a void one for automatic deductions from an account. Cannot even remember the last time i actually filled one out
I could be wrong but i think they pretty much are in England. I haven't received a new cheque book for a couple of years.
the current book i am using is well over 10 years old and still half full
Mine was useful for sending the odd cheque to my nephews for their birthdays. This year though I just transferred money direct.
with 50 cheques to a book, my supply will last longer than i shall
and knowing banks soon they will bring in a large charge for processing any cheques
more than likely
That wouldn't surprise me at all.
just the stats for the pair of 7's please
one is re7/28
re 7/28; sc 7/36
ty lady
re7.28 is one
and liz:)
and lynn:))
sc7/36
crossy is looking and hunting..
brrr... still not real spring yet! minus 4c this morning
Brrrr indeed!
it's 66F in florida....sorry!
this after 4 amazing days of plus 10c
28 C here today
lol, swimming weather for liz!
But spring is coming for you and for us it's heading into winter.
Well we did walk on the beach today.
poor liz:(
The ocean was 24 C according to the signs.
It's a tough life ;)
it is funny the things you stumble over that you have yet to do in life. For example, I have yet to swim in a ocean. Have never swam in a body of salt water.
Tis all fresh water lakes here:)
Where we are the rips are often too strong for actual swimming in the ocean. But I have swum in the ocean - more buoyant than in freshwater. But I prefer a pool.
The Dead Sea is the weirdest though.
Come down to Brookllyn, crossy, I live . 2 streets awy from the Atlantic Ocean. Nice beach too. We can go to Nathans for franks and then take a ride on the Cyclone.
..and no sharks or blue-ringed octopus either
now there is a nice invitation:)))
Sounds like fun, Annie.
and bring the family. Your boy would love the rides at Coney Island.
Very true Lyn - not that I've seen either!
hello all
Hi Owl :)
Hi TO
and you can come up here annie, and I will take you on top of Blue Mountain for a hike then we can have a scuba dive off the shores of Georgian bay and check out the wreck of a old 1820,s vessel i know of then off for a bit of crossys home made beef stew with crusty bread slathered in creamery butter while i bring out the scrabble board
sounds divine. I think my scuba diving days are behind me tho.
this one is odd though annie, is sits in only 30 feet of water. you can almost reach overbard and touch it
Hi TOwl! I looked as you suggested...going to see a local Zydeco band tomorrow - unfortunately it is a final performance as they are breaking up after 25(?) years
Then I will reach overboard and touch it then. A nice meal and scrabble is more my speed these days.
lyn, that is bittersweet.
i hope you like the music at least.
Fireworks! Fun grid.
congrats Liz!
Congrats, Lizlin!!!
yay, liz!
yaaa for liz!!
Thanks. Enjoy your days :) Sleep well Lyn :)
lyn, when you come to us, i will take you dancing.

GN Lynxx.
Bye! Safe travels!
night, lyn,have fun
aw car, what is happening?
Dear Lord Car, watching his heart break?
He has been trying to have a play date with his buddy for months now. It was scheduled for today. he came home sick from school yesterday. He is feeling better, but the other mom, rightfully so, wants to postpone until next week. Dylan is so upset.
And there is nothing I can do.
Oh whew, I thought someone had died or something.
when you are young next week seems like forever.
And he has just been having a tough go lately, so this is just the last straw today.
Why can't I see the last W? Is there a strange one?
Got it!

there were ce4's in my lunch today with my veasl kidneys
I never liked kidneys until the local Italian made them for me
i have never cared for the aftertaste of kidneys
used to get steak and kidney pies all the time as a child
Everyone should have a "local Italian" : D
i am a local italian lol
crossy - have you seen the recipe for bacon popcorn?
I keep one in my cupboard
no, i have not, Helen, though i do have bacon salt , so any popcorn can be bacon popcorn for me! :)
This one, you use the bacon fat (from crisp cooking little squares of bacon) for popping the corn; then you make a sauce of honey and c
was about to say, i imagine you can hold back some clear bacon renderings and pop the corn in that:)
mmm
making me hungry, Helen:)
Sorry - that's honey and Chinese chili sauce, mix the bacon into that, and toss the popcorn in the result. Looks delicious.
I found it on a Cheezburger site - Win, I think, but maybe the Daily What. Mouthwatering video!
so much good, arterial clogging food, so little time;)
As you say - and to think we have but one life to give to bacon!
:)
baconaise is very hard to find here:(
I haven't seen it in the stores for ages.
the people at J&M Foods know me on a first name basis.:)
I have a favourite Danish deli - these are people who understand bacon - also thin-sliced rye bread.
http://www.jdfoods.net/products
had the addy wrong:)
mmm, deli bacon food
lol! they have a bacon shaving cream!
I have no use for shaving cream. but perhaps they have a skin cream!
i know they have bacon perfume, but the mrs refuses to wear it..lol
I would be for outdoor events, I think!
the lip balm is nice. bacon kisses all day long:)
People following me around looking for the grill.
hehe
No matter how you like it seasoned, the secret to good popcorn is making it on the stove. That microwave stuff is gross.
I would order the bacon coffin, except i plan on cremation
agreed, on the stove
I have a new bottle of Orville Redenbaucher's in the cupboard as we speak;)
Coffee time - bbs
I cannot believe i got this far into the grid and am now only seeing U.K gasoline:(
Forgot to say -- you pour a little melted butter over the opocorn before you toss it with the bacon and honey/chili sauce. Natch.
I astonnished myself last night - my third word.
but of course. We must not omit the butter. :)
i wonder... i make my own butter from time to time with my antique beater jar.. now, what if i take my bacon salt and use it in my butter preparation instead of regular salt? I WILL HAVE BACON BUTTER!
a little of my bacon butter on your BLT with some baconaise and yer all set!
Wonderful! The only times I have made butter I was aiming for whipped cream - hard to go on to butter from that - but maybe I just had no idea how much salt to add. Plus, of course, necessity to empty the equipment so could get whipped cream.
Need just the right tomatoes, though.
it is usually 2% salt for the volume of cream
so weigh the cream you use and figure out 2% of that weight and you are good to go
I'm not sure I even thought to check - only my Larrouse would have been likely to have a recipe.
that is 2% per finished pound
but as always it is to personal taste
I have tucked a note with that info into my most often used cookbook - not that I expect to be making butter in the immediate future, but the unexpected always happens.
i turn my salt into a thick ,smooth paste before adding to beater jar, using as little water as i can
you can hold back some cream also and make it with that
That's helpful - know that I would have just dumped in the sale, and had uneve, gritty butter probably.
you just to not want to add salt granules directly
salt
yup. for that exact reason, Helen:)
Makes sense - butter is a great solvent of sugar, but salt - well oddly much more difficult.
and it is nice doing your own butter. You know exactly whay is in it. Not like the chemical sh**storm that is margarine
what
I am told (not very authoritatively!) that salt also is difficult to dissolve in alcohol - have never wanted to do so, so I can't comment.
Fortunately I have avoided margarine all my life - even at my m-in-l's table, because she always put out butter, too - her husband wouldn't touch margarine either!
the density of salt vs sugar is vastly different, as well as solubility:)
loreal
*brings out hairspray for Helens*
OOPS - better concentrate on grid for a bit.
Is that all that's i the PB?
yeah.. that and a couple of tubs of margarine :D

hey, jilly and nan
things starting to thaw out in your part of town, helen?
Absolutely beautiful day here so far!
Two days of warm sun - almost all the ice has gone - the snow mostly went fast, but it left HUGE puddles, so come evening on Wednesday we had poorly located ice rinks.
Mostly in parking lots.
hoping there's no major flooding - folks who experienced it last year must be sitting on pins and needles
hey, check it out - four canadian flags in chat :)
There's a big snow pack to melt - hoping it won't go fast, and that we will not be competing in the "most days of rain" stakes again.
if lo 6 is a word why isn't lancome :D

has become entrenched in our culture, though -- even appeared on Jeopardy not long ago
What appeared on Jeopardy nan?
speaking of which -- anyone watch Ken Jennings wipe the floor with his opponents Thurs. night?
I was a huge Star Trek geek as a kid, ...well, okay, as an adult too. When HP came along I wasn't inclined because of the fantasy stuff (I'm a hard core science fiction fan), but the books drew me in. And the writing! Oh, what fun. Diagonally !
HP -- something about the actress that plays Hermione Granger
Yes, we did nan. But I think he was very nervous. Not something I associated with him
I think he is under a lot of pressure whenever he appears what with being top dog on the show all these years.
Emma Watson. She is graduating from Brown University this spring.
Quite the jeopardy game that was...can't wait for the quarter finals!
ah yes -- the category was Watson on that show
I thought a couple of the other candiidates were really good: Brad Rutter, Lesech Pavlovich [sp?] an Jerome Vered

At least it doesn't say KEEP CALM AND BISON ON

Hello

Blech, exclamation point.
Can I have a clue for the en8, please?
en + sc6 down with your mouse
Ty..didn't have that sc6
Kind of an outdated word, but you can always count on Enable accepting those.
:-)
hi all!
Howdy all.
Hello hi greetings salutations and howyadoin
I bought a puzzle for the first time in years
when put together, its a collage of all chicago landmarks.
How many pieces?
1000
gonna frame it when done. i have two similar framed pics. one of the muppets and one of horses. the horses one belonged to my gram. its now on my wall when she died
Oh, good luck with that. I keep smaller jigsaw puzzles around for when the power goes out. It keeps us from going mental.
Will probably do it in the summer
I don't have the patience for a puzzle that big nor the room to keep it laying around while it would take me the forever to finish it.
Yeah that was on my mind but.. Chicago!
Clue for the en8?
That windy city, that toddlin' town.
sc6 down for the clue lbd ;)
Ty
Back for the last 12 to finish up
im in the mood for dolly madison bars
what are those cos?
graham cracker crust with chocolate and coconuts
and chocolate chips
yummy sounding. I like chipwich
Hello Dollys, Seven Layer Bars, they go by so many names.
i wonder if you can use agraham cracker pie crust instead of making my own crust
Same amount of work. You would have to crumble the crust up from the pie pan to a rectangular pan.
it wouldnt work in a pie pan?
just take off the sides
Oh it might, if you futz with the recipe. My recipe calls for amounts that go in a 9x13 pan.
I don't think it would taste the same though.
yeah every recipe i find calls for that. lemme try googling dolly madison pies :P
nope. just getting results for dolly madison fruit pies :P
Dolly Madison, the proud sponsor of the Peanuts Specials.
ILl just stick to tradition I guess.
I have to find a recipe and make that
Those things are good, but ultra sweet. I haven't made them in years.
http://tinyurl.com/m5f5q5e
FW, see you guys tomorrow
havent had them in years.. all of a sudden craving them.
Thanks cos
Anyone need a clue
Naw. Thanks anyway. wtg
They were all the rage in the 80's. That was back when people baked with real baking things, instead of black beans in brownies. : O
yuck!
what a time to come in - blackbeans in brownies??? was that written by some 'superhealthconscious' nut
Hi all :)
hi smores
Hi flosey :)
My philosophy is, if you are going to make dessert, make dessert. It wasn't meant to be "healthy" it was meant to be a sweet treat.
we did go through quite a 'health conscious' kick the second time hubby had cancer - he is a survivor with many humble thanks and we've slowly gone back to a reasonably healthy lifestyle
lol...yes, the 80's, no low carb, low-fat, fat-free, wheat free, nut free, eggless, or lactose free substitutions at the end of the recipe
Oh don't forget gluten free. Everything under the sun is gluten free lately.
I'm with you there Molly. I've beenn laid up with a nasty cold for last 2 weeks - yesterday hubby brought me a "Better than Sex Chocolate cake"
lol...nice
and, if not better, runs a pretty darn close to equal - decadent and delicious
lol Molly - how to turn great cooks away from the kitchen
LOL..hope you told him it wasn't "better than"
I'm going with better. Sex is rarely decadent and delicious. : D
it did get quite a few giggles as he went through the store
I admit, I have experimented with lots of healthy dessert recipes...some weren't 1/2 bad
when necessary, one can survive
I was cooking for a couple with serious diet restrictions and wanted to find them some alternatives.
personally, I still prefer all the fat and sugar left right in there where it belongs...lol
I agree, smores, fortunately we have many alternates and those with such allergies are able to enjoy very normal goodies without feeling deprived
me too, smores, I love sweets - too much!!
yes, that is nice, but some just go overboard, as Molly said, it's dessert
yup, there are always those who go overboard - we do have to just simply be reasonable
no dinner is complete without dessert, is it?
the GF fad is dangerous and insultign to these who are truly in need of a gf diet. thats all i will say.
I was buying half&half the other day and noticed "fat-free half&half....that is not possible...if it's fat-free, it cannot be half&half
the other half might be a bit scarey
I agree Cos, I find it annoying when people jump on the bandwagon when their health doesn't warrant it.
I know, right? I'm not sure what they put in it
Fat free half and half is a mixture of nonfat milk, nondairy coffee creamer, and thickening agents. If you can dig that.
yuck
oh, yuk
they shouldn't be allowed to call it half&half
a mixture of artificial - hmmm, sound healthy?
It's like margarine, mostly filler and gross stuff.
I admit, I do use margarine...guess because that's what I grew up with
still love my potatoes fried up in bacon grease too...lol
Read the label on margarine sometime. I quit using it years ago, switched to butter and just use less butter.
nooo...I don't wanna read the label :)
That's fine, ignorance is bliss.
lol
My dad used to say if ignorance is bliss, why do we not live a happier world
*in
Be back, my dog needs out
People are all about olive oil these days. And it's great for cooking. But substituting olive oil for butter when baking is gross times ten.
I take a lot of that with a grain of salt - please don't offer me butter cream frosting made with - - oil? Perhaps there's a time and a place for substitutions but one does have to use discretion
Make sure that grain of salt isn't salt substitute. : D
lol, they've come up with that too, haven't they!
what is the salt substitute Molly? My husband was just asking if he should use that...
I have returned. The Last Crusade just ended.
Now the hunt for the crystal skull is on.
Hi all! Glad to hear the crusades are over :-)
is that a good one? I thot all those modern crusade movies were bad
hi sue!
indiana jones and the last crusade is my absolute favorite harrison ford movie
hi bugs!
I love movies with bibilical themes
and cos!
oh that is a good one. I was thinking I avoid Sean Connery and Heath Ledger crusade ones
hi sue , bugs and whoever I missed!
theres an indiana jones marathon on cable :P
yah, lots of fighting and sex in biblical ones
bught the 10 commandments on dvd for 4.97 yeesterday
oh no thats not hwta im interested in. i like the history. fascinating
Cos, if you are into historical drama, you should see the HBO miniseries John Adams. It's really very good.
I have been wanting to see that.
I watched the Lincoln movie with Sally Field./ I hated it the first time but loved it the 2nd time. Odd.
It gives you a healthy respect for those who came before us and fought for our independence.
I should go to the used movie store todayt to see if they have it.
Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney won well deserved Emmy awards for their performances.
fw at last, back at flip
Yay Flosey. Well done. I'm gutted I I missed all the fun with Lilianne last evening.
L was on a ro4 last night. The tone will never be lowered further than that, I suspect.
Unfortunately, now she will probably stay away from Babble, thinking herself unworthy or not polite enough. : (
Not a bit of it. Lil's tongue was firmly in her cheek. She did what I have often felt like doing... shaking up the chog. More power to her elbow!
"What do you call someone who goes canoeing?" I yell loudly. "A canoer!" my 5-year-old responds. He is smarter than the Babble dictionary :(
thanks!
5 year olds are wonderful. They speak the truth. They know no boundries. I'd love to be 5 years old for the rest of my life.
It is the cutest age if you ask me
The Enable word list was compiled by old men, who wear plaid short, black socks and sandals. They have lots of nose hair and they fart a lot. They are infatuated with obscure mammals and currency of lands no one has ever heard of.
they also play WoW?
zug zug
No, probably cribbage and shuffleboard.
Five year olds can dress themselves. They can pour out a bowl of Rice Krispies for themselves for breakfast. (OK, you WILL have to clean up a horrible mess....) But they are guileless, biddable, dependant, independant , trusting and ultra-cool. Fnurt, I envy you you five year old.
Any kid under the age of 8 still knows about magic. Once they turn 8, they are lost to the world of reality that we shove upon them. : (
until they read harry potter of course
sadly I read todays pre teends are not interested in HP :( it is their parents aho are
No Cos, that just makes them remember magic. It gets forgotten once the material world takes over.
Today's preteens don't like to read
my 7 year old is a big reader... even though they have so many devices to distract them these days
When would they read? Their parents are too busy taking them to soccer, karate, dance class and "play dates" (ugh)
Then you are lucky fnurt. You probably set them a good example
Then again, I can't point to a particular age when my lot were obnoxious. I can truly say I loved every single moment of their growing up. (Can somebody pass the tissues, please...)
My eight year old grandson is obnoxious
Really, Jax?
Yes, really
We can always count on Soodle for the high drama. *Tissues and keening for all!!*
There are times when I could really strangle the little twerp
Ha ha ha. Well, your honesty is refreshing. Tell me, Jaxx, is he your son or daughter's offspring?
Is he spoiled Jaxx?
my daughter who is also obnoxious
Yet my grand-daughter who is also my daughter's child is an absolute sweetie
Good heavens. I assumed he was the spawn of a son of yours, and you disapproved of the way his mother was rearing him. Interesting....
I disapprove of my daughter's behaviour
((((Jaxx)))) that sounds like a difficult situation.
She was lovely until she hit 14 and then she went downhill from there. I look at her and wonder where she came from, and I don't mean biologically
Thats a difficult place to be Jaxx. I'm sorry for your troubles.
I wait and wonder what she will do next. She hasn't a maternal bone in her body. She is so selfish and her taste where men are concerned is all in her mouth
How old is your daughter?
36
Old enough to know better.
Quite
Do you take care of her 2 kids?
One is 16, the other ( the obnoxious one) is 8
And do you have other children, Jaxx?
We have looked after both of them since they were born
I had a son who died in 2005 - suicide
Oh, poor Jaxx. How awful. My heart goes out to you. That must have been the worst possible blow. (((Hugs)))
Thanks, Soodle. I think Tim's behaviour overshadowed his sister and caused the attention seeking bad behaviour. He has been dead for 8 years but she still throws up 'it would be different if my name was Tim'
Jaxx, you have an awful lot on your plate. Almost too much for one person to bear. I feel huge sorrow and empathy for you. Can anybody here on Babble help you in any way?
I have my husband who is a tower of strength. Our genes just didn't combine that well.
I feel like I'm checking into an Al-Anon..meeting
No, it is a parents-anon meeting and it is over now so you can relax
it's my fault, I brought up my 5-year-old who knows what a canoer is
Psshh... You will NEVER find Soodle at an al anon meeting!
I'm glad Jaxx has a husband to lean on. Other than supportive words, I'm not sure that people on Babble are here to offer help.
Well, supportive words can help.
Soodle, I have learned to take one day at a time and I try not to look back and I don't plan ahead. That said, I am researching my family tree which has been equally depressing at times.
Fnurt, that is guilt talking. Are you Irish? : D
*Checks post* Yep, I did say "other than supportive words. Whew.
On my father's side I would add. My mother's side is Irish and full of life even centuries later
I am Jewish, we have plenty of guilt over here too
Jaxx.... I admire you hugely. Well done. You will get there. AS for Fnurt...... What Molly said1
Oh of course, I should have said Irish or Jewish. : D
It does help to unburden but it can also, as ruru said, spoil the chog for others
Oh, Holy Moses.... Jewish crossed with Irish....? the guilt, the guilt...
I think she said she's Jewish. No crossed with Irish. God save anyone who has to deal with that mix.
Wouldn't that make him a cashew?
let's find something to chat about. I guess the Bison weren't predicting the end of the world as we are all still here?
Jaxx, for what it's worth, my email is medickinson@eircom.net. Feel free to use it.
I think I have lived through about 9 'end of the worlds'. Pretty awesome that I'm still here.
Thanks, Soodle. When things are really bad, I will start swimming across to Ireland, the land of my grandfathers.I shall expect to see you on the shore with a big tot of Irish Whiskey
Where in the world are you Jaxx, the UK or the USA?
9 End Of The Words? *Cues up sad, melancholy, violin music*
Soodle, you must be a ton of fun at dinner parties. : P
*thinks about Irish Boat People*
Devon, UK, on the channel coast. Just turn right and swim past Cornwall and across the Irish Sea.
fireworks!
I could very well be, Molly, if I was ever invited to a dinner party....
Well done fnurt
It would be Devonian boat people ruru
Fnurt Fireworks. Frikkin Fabulous!

don't know Peter Skellern
Hi again
Any Irish jigs?
Google him,Ru.
smores.. thank god the Bison haven't trampled you
I will soods
Puh-lease. Not a jig on my playlist. Sheesh
?? what ?? ruru
Don't mind me. I was raised by a melodramatic Irish mother. My tolerance for melodrama got used up when I was quite young.
Why ever not? Toe tapping
the end of the world smores.. volcanoes and rampaging bison.. where you been?
Smores has not heard about the end of the world yet.
I'll add some jugs to my playlist
Jugs? you and your puns
jigs I mean :D
lol....death by rampaging buffalo
sure you did ruru, sure you did :)
Oh, I will never stop being amused by the UK/American linguistic chasm.
the only songs that make it onto my playlist are songs that have words. And words that make sense. I love story songs. Ones that I can warble along to in private.
From the sound of it that was what everyone was expecting in Yellowstone
guess I missed it
those bison in Yellowstone are pretty pampered
sounds like a load of bull
Makes a change from being slaughtered
ruru, you missed that one
Warble if you must. But can we please, for the love of God, keep this an ABBA Free Zone?
Shall I whisper this? I quite like Abba
Oh here we go.
arggggggggggggggggggggggh
Don't recognise that one
lol
http://tinyurl.com/mwza3gn
Just what we need. Someone to encourage Soodle and her ABBA obsession. : O
I think they compose perfect sing-a-long records
I feel I must clarify.... I am not obsessed with Abba. I am obsessed with Mama Mia. I love that movie with a passion previously reserved for Mary Poppins. I cannot explain it. I just love it. Advance apologies to anybody I offended.
I enjoyed that movie too, soodle and it kept the little twerp quiet too
not a big fan...but certainly not offended
Meryl Streep, her scarf, and her rendition of The Winner Takes It All is enough to reduce this tough cookie to a quivering mess. Shoot me.
No. Who would I e-mail then?
Good evening everyone. Back for my last 55.. I hope :)
Evening, Crossy
And of course, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan don't make the Mama Mia experience any less pleasant.....
hey Cross.
soodle, jaxx :)
Molly is here somewhere- brooding
Ignore me for the time being Crossy. I'm on a Mama Mia trip.
which is why Molly is brooding
"does not bother me, soodles. my da used to wear out abba records from playing them so much
Soodles was trying to cheer me up which she had already done successfully before we got to Abba
just do not break into song with nina, pretty ballerina, please :)
No, not really, I don't brood.
..you can dance, you can jive....
lol
No no no. It's not Abba. It's Mama Mia. Its a Greek Island with three handsome men. It's blue skies and white beaches. It's .... what i want!
If I did I would permanently ruin the chog
I'm not much for keening either.
I actually kind of like Knowing me, Knowing you
Do a Shirley Valentine then soodles
<---I'm brooding :D
Aaaw....
You guys probably party down to "We Built This City On Rock and Roll" yeah?

Shall I take it back then?
Oh Pen, and I just got done telling someone that capitalizing STATS would ensure just getting STATS.
usually does... ;o).....i had found it anyway....
Wile E. Coyote's favorite mail order store is in here;))
Jaxx, my absolute DREAM is to do a Shirley Valentine on it. A week away in someplace sunny and warm, with nothing to do but please myself. I send myself to sleep dreaming about it...
You missed out the handsome Greek
I'm half greek :D
*Wonders about a big six-string*
Meh. Handsome Greeks can come or go. I just want a week on my own, answering to nobody.
Are you handsome?
not really
I'm not butt ugly either though
Don't believe him Jaxx. Women here drool over him. : P
Doesn't matter. Soodles wants to do a Greta Garbo
Jaxx... Ruru is the Babble pinup.
It is the inner man that matters, ruru

No, Lil just posted the "right" lyric to the song.

Okay, if we are going there again, I need to get some paper towels.
I won't. I haven't got all night

"It's up to Soodle"? Those are dangerous words.
Mind or we'lle be back to Abba

Good lad
<--- a little beyond "lad"
Y'all can wail ABBA all you want. I've spent plenty of time listening to bad music.

I'm with you, Soodle---LOVE Mamma Mia! ♪
There we are back to Abba
Hey, I just got here---and must support my Soodle!!!
I think this is a good time for me to say good night to all. Nothing any of ye says will deter me from Mama Mia. I am unflinching. Humming Our Last Summer as I wander off to the Soodle Pit. Night all
Soodle, thanks for 'listening' and if you like Abba and Mama mia then carry on singing
Mimi, you are clearly a lady of impeccable taste. No wonder I am very fond of you.
I own the movie and every time I see that scene where she's singing to her daughter I sob uncontrollably...and, hey, does anyone else miss DISCO? Oh, oh...now I'm in for a tongue lashinng!
gn, soodles, I admire your determination:) sing it like no one is listening!
Good night Mimi's Soodle
I'll drink to that, Soodles! (Of course, I'm Irish, too, and I'll pretty much drink to ANYTHING.)
that's right crossy .. besides Soodle NO ONE else is listening
I, too am off to my bed. tc all.
I am not irish and ill even drink to Monday;)
I'm listening, ruru...ever present, ever listening, all-knowing...no, wait..that's God...and I know he's not a woman.
you do?
*Puts on Saturday Night Fever sound track for Mimi...hands our ear plugs for the rest of us*
I'm kinda guessing if god isn't a woman.. then he must not be a man either
Yep---and he hates old women....and probably his mother.
God is from Seti Aplha 6 A nice surprise for rapture day
Out...out ear plugs
I'm kinda wishing that Swedish guy had taken out Abba instead of all those school children
Wow, kind of a bitter version of God.
Molly, I have fond memories of doing a very sexy dance with a feather boa for my would-have-been husband to Hot Stuff--Donna Summer...to quote another song, "Oh, what a night!"
Think about it, Molly...gravity no longer a friend, hormones drive you insane, men get distinguished while we become hags...nope, if God was a woman he's do all this to THEM.
Funny, ruru.
is that the basis of your hypothesis mimi?
Yep...that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! I've also already had a large martini.
mm.. martinis
Won't get into the metaphysical for real...don't actually think of God as one entity anyway...I'm kind of a "power of the universe" kind of gal.

My idea of the perfect relationship is a guy who lives out of town and we only get together monthly...that way it's always fun and new and never too real...no more reality...had enough reality..looking for a good fantasy.
