dee, since March I've had a whole lot of unexpected expenses and things! The heavy snowfall broke my giant old oak, so I had to have that aken care of -- I wanted to light my gas fireplace during a power outage -- no gas, so had to get the propane tank filled. Then I found I had carpenter ants and had to get the pest control people in and spend 6 hours away from the house, so I had my car serviced off island. Had a routine doctor'sa ppointment the next day, and stupidly backed out of the garage and hit the gardener's truck , so big repairs needed. Came home from that to find my hot water tank had leaked so I had to get a new one. Oh yes, and then there was home inusrance to renew and community sewer fees to pay -- I've probably left something out, but enough, awreddy!
I saw your post on FB. I was hoping you had gotten some help with your leak.
Oh yes, my wonderful neighbours helped out a lot. I really had a meltdown but they were soothing.
Really glad for that. Sure sounded like a plateful of challenges.

good grief...well at least there wont be any danger of fire with her. but not to minimise her condition...my mum didn't know me at all just before she died. it cut deep.

My Mum actually died in my arms a few years back and she didn't know who I was, only that she liked me.
flosey, i realise now that she was hypoxic. her poor old heart just wasn't working hardly at all. her brain wasn't getting enough oxygen, even on oxygen therapy.
saani, believe it or not, you were fortunate. my poor mum died with only strangers around her. she was in hospital, having fallen and broken her arm.
oh I am so sorry rose.
i never got to say good-bye.
such a tough way to go - and for loved ones to see
but thankfully i had visited her the day before, and i was getting ready to visit her again, when the hospital called.

I got to make out a schedule for myself on eating and exercise--getting things in order so to say

PUGS!!!! you have that surgery, young lady. besides, the drugs nowadays are vastly improved, and nurses and doctors understand a lot more about pain control.
I know I do but I just HATE the thought and all theses meds :(

the pain meds will be short term only. just think, once the hernia is repaired, it won't hurt you again. and the post-op pain is getting better pain. it will go away.

she wanted to put me on anti-depression meds but I asked if the sugar could cause it and she said yes so I told her I will wait and see if I can do it myself by getting that down first

i am thinking that while you, pugs, are adapting to the new diabetes meds, you don't need the antideps. because they too can cause dizziness etc. but, and i do mean but, if you do need them, then take them.
I don't know yet, pugs. I'd like to do something worthwhile again, helping other people. But it is a bit complicated to make it work with the benefit.

no rose, but the trainer said she wants me to finish my own therapy first. So am going to wrap things up this year, and try to join her course next year.
am gonna try and put money aside for it. Don't know the price yet. But it will be expensive and maybe that will make it impossible. We will see.

oh, I didn't tell you guys that... that is what my psychiatrist is going to do, together with the psychiatrist who does the family constellations. They are gonna offer therapy to therapists.

some nurses can't handle death and dieing...they find that out very early in their career. they usually move onto something else very quickly...like horticulture.

I know at the nursing home, you get attached to those people and when several goes in a row and then dealing with the famlies too it can take a toll on you
it was free, pugs. like our flu vax. the company sees it has a responsibility to the emotional and physical welfare of it's employees. unfortunately, that does not extend to workcover cases.
it is especially hard if you don't see death as a part of life. If you can accept that death is a part of life, handling death and grieving people becomes less hard.

you know, with my faith, i found that i am not afraid of death. yes it makes me sad, but i am not scared. i recognise that my grief comes from a sense of loss.
what bothered me the most were the ones with no family and they just wanted someone with them as they passed..

and another time, i was 'specialling' a patient who had had a kidney removed. in the wee small hours of the night, she woke up and asked for her rosary beads. when i asked if she would like me to pray for her, she said yes. months later, she came into the ward, to say thank-you.

we had a scary morning. I woke up with the worst headache I've ever had, not a migraine, but my whole head and neck. I took a double dose of paracetimol and codeine and drank coffee and it finally went away
first why are you fighting OO? And if your illness is causing these things then you can not help it. And those that loves you OO will do so as you are not what they want you to be. As for myself I hate, hate being alone inside and out==I dont think anyone should be alone to face whatever goes in life

Yes very true...the different styles too..like a bowler type hat for bankers..top hats for the wealthy.

my mil had a wide variety of hat pins still in her jewellery box. thay are quite decorative and interesting

i have a fond memory of my grammy. She was a welsh as they come and 4 foot whatever in height and full of spit and fire. When she came for a visit from England in 1979, she had to stand on a kitchen chair to get ahold of my dads ear ;)

Every time she went down South she got them or when my nieces came up here they would pass them on, but that was because of one of my niece's friend's alway had them and my ex S.i.l never did anything much about it but tell them to put a nit comb through their hair and they didn't know what they were doing as they were kids but she never used the proper nit shampoo
I will check and i've been scratching all night and i hugged them all....
my son caught them twice from the public school when he was small. It was a nightmare.
but better than with the young girls. I just shaved my kid right down to a buzz cut that would make a military man proud
then all the shampoos, the nit combs and bagging and washing everything he owned
now they just have you wash the hair and then put lots of conditioner on. Don't rinse it off for an hour or two. It smothers the live ones without a lot of cost and the you can use the comb to get the nits out.
It's not the hair treatment. It's the absolute fumigation you have to do to your home to keep them from re-infesting.

Now it is time for crossy's amazing tidbit of the day!! Google has applied for a patent for a contact lens with a built in camera. The camera itself does not process the picture, but instead will send it to Googel glass or your I-phone. This will be invaluable for blind people as it will take snapshots of anything around you such as traffic, crosswalks, obstructions, people around you as well as street signs and building address numbers and give the vision disabled real time info to assist in navigating the area around them!
