ruru, he was the communications officer for an university. that means he did everything, photography, still and fast action, door signs, converting thesis to dvd, anything in the way of communicating. he has 2 degrees and 2 diplomas.
redundancy package...the employer pays the worker out for the rest of his working life. plus a bonus usually.
it means with all the n ew technology available don's work was no longer needed as the students etc could do it all themselves.
A "good" way for a company to cut back on labour!

i just spent 45 min. doing a search....i just wanted to find out more about what the symbols of the function keys stand for....finally figured out how to backlight the keyboard....but there are still a few i don't understand...
It's a trial and error thing, you'll get it eventually.

no, it's in the top line of keys.....the function keys, i think....i have figured out most of them, but there are still a few that i have not....
Okay then I am lost. All my function keys on the top row are labeled F1 through F12. You must be on a Macintosh
i have the numbers (like F1) but i also have symbols....i am on a dell laptop...

nope....i found info on related stuff, like how to change the fn keys....i found an out of date chart of symbols but the ones in question weren't there...

I would love to have a better sense for what is going on, but at least now I have the results of the testing you did (THANK YOU!) and it looks like I am pretty much on target with my own assessment of the kids. Nice to have that confirmation -- particularly when I am learning what is appropriate for this grade!

I've never heard of those programs. We used Open Court for several years.Then we switched to Journeys last year

Yes, Common Core fits nicely with our Language Arts, actually!
Our staff looked at Journeys but found it didn't align very well with the incoming "Common Core" standards. It was thought to be but they are now finding some BIG holes
