I am looking for any of our babblers that are from the Burlington Vermont area. son in law has taken job with National weather service there (he is currently in hawaii and my daughter and granddaughter stayed behind in washington state with us). It is a move that will bring them back together as a whole family but this gram is sad that it's so far away. I'm just looking for someone who could share some information regarding good neighborhood to look for housing and schools for my granddaughter who currently attends a performing arts school.

Here's a kicker for ya. Hubby applied to a Husky rescue organization recently. Figuring, when our elderly, disabled husky crosses the rainbow bridge in the near future, he will want to adopt another dog right away. They called him yesterday to schedule a "home inspection" sometime this weekend.
I told him they can inspect our home after they reveal how much their adoption fees are. Cheeky wankers.
They have this HUGE application that he had to fill out on-line. I asked him, do they have a lot of dogs for adoption right now? He said, no. They have no dogs right now. Huh???

Most shelter animals now require the animal to be spayed/neutered and fully up to date on shots before they release the animal for adoption. Of course, you pay for it when you adopt, but that I expect.

Today a smartass snowmobiler ventured over to our ski trails and was zipping around. I was SO mad. They have their own trails yet there are always some hotheads that have to check out the road up to our hut and trails.
I can still hear my mothers voice within my mind. When it used to fall below minus 30, she would yell at my brother and me as we headed out the door "Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth or you will frost your lungs!" lol
it is terrible when they chew up trails they are not supposed to be on:(
I spoke to a park employee later but he was a 20-something old kid. I asked for signs to be posted, saying "No snowmobiles", placed at the borders of our areas. A little kid will get hit, I fear.

Well, soodles, with electric baseboards set to keep it around 65F it runs about $185.00/month with all wood it needs 5 bush cords of hardwood and 2 face cords of softwood totaling around $1000. for the 6 month heating season. You can save if you cut it and split it yourself though
The good thing with wood is you can have it as hot as you wish:))
of course that 185 for electric incluses the lights and hot water tank

lol. Up north at the cottage, it was all wood heat. a freestanding franklin stove in the livingroom and a wood fired range with a water side-boiler in the kitchen
Was something comforting in that you did not have to rely on the electric grid:)
hehe we used to float a 12 volt pool pump in the water boiler on a styrofoam float and pump the hot water to a old bath tub for soaking

Yes, it does, but I sat next to Mother on Wednesday and watched her music and listened to the rest of them and quickly figured out at least what the bass was supposed to do. Then I clued in on what snares should do, but won't have enough practice time to add those in before the concert.

Well, I also used to dance... so it all kind of comes together. When I subbed in for the conductor (he is the orchestra teacher at the school I was at last year) I so enjoyed listening to the music "from inside" and it was just as excellent to be really part of it.

I did learn, however, that I will need to practice some at home somehow, and learn some better arm stretches. My right arm was sore for two days! LOL
I took piano lessons in -- 4th grade, maybe? Was in the church choir for many years (even as an adult before I got married) and had 4 years of clarinet leasing (not that I could play very well…) but there's no way I'd think of joining an orchestra

not so fun to be sore but maybe you can pound on the back of the couch to get the rhythm and stretches
It is a community group, and generally speaking the other instrumentalists have a lot more experience than I do. But I think if I get Grant's old fiddle fixed (the upper two keys slip) then I can learn that, too and maybe start playing with them sometimes.
And I've seen drum notations and wouldn't make heads or tails of it
