i'll send her an email in a bit. and let you know
oh, good idea, thanks Rose
Dee is in Indiana, away from the recent blizzard. She's been keeping up on the Words with Friends games we are playing.

Thanks - kept trying that but without the double

Triangular, sweet pastries, filled with apple / cinnamon or jam

They are. We tried one!
You can use any filling.
yes a pastry sounds good about now really anytime
I ll send some to you all - virtually! Wish I could deliver in person.
wow looks delicious. Found an interesting website from a lady who gives recipes, but also researches the background of traditional dishes.
Which one?
hehehe indeed, Liz! Would love that too. Especially because it would mean I could see YOU in person again.
Hubby asked for apple and cinnamon - never done that before.
can I pls get a clue for any lone I second column?
That would be very good.
yes come to the Midwest I live just se of chicago
One day maybe!
Don't know how to clue them. Same words - ones a plural.
ty
Is 5/10 is 6/18
ah that's the problem no I 5,10 here
i like how the lone Is pair. :)
hmm
Never thought of it like that :)
It's a babblet meaning Japanese immigrant, if that helps
first generation of japanese immigrants, for the is words.
ooo ty
Yw
ty I always forget that one
tc friends off to sleep
Sleep well Pink
nigth pink,. sleep well!
Did you get through the dentist appt OK.
Sprite, what was the websi4 that you found?
oh Liz, when we arrived there (it is easily a 45 minute's drive), we found that the dentist was ill and we had to go home again.
Oh! You poor thing. What an anticlimax for you.
Liz: http://toriavey.com/
it really was. I felt so deflated. And now to have to go through all that again soon. Ah well, lots of worse things in the world, right?
Ah yes. I looked at that one earlier. Looked good.
But I make my mums recipe.
Right. It'll be OK
I love the tradition, Liz. Wish I had a dish I learned from my mother. But alas.
Most of the traditional food I make is from my mum. Wish I'd got more - the ones not in her recipe book but in her he4
my mother couldn't cook to save her life, lol.
:( I was very lucky there.
:) I can use recipes from my friends (hint hint) and from the internet. Am making a collection of my favorites. And my family's favorites.
I can give recipes. I gave you some - what do you like?
yeah your lovely recipe for salmon! I make that sometimes and my family loves it.
:)
:)
glitching here!
I like a lot of things. Good soups are awesome. Pastry too. Desserts. Easy main dishes.
Gotta go - friend messaging - stuff I need to sort!
have a good evening, Liz, and a peaceful night :) *hug* for you both
Will email my hamantaschen recipe to you.
oh great! Yes please :D
Hugs to you.
hi all. need clues for the 8s. ty
hi mkg!
brb, need meds and coffee
hi sprite
also need i words for both i's in second column.
lower i is id4, a thought
upper i is is5, japanese immigrant
di8, x 2, both plurals. di7, great movie starring bruce willis
second di7, think sickness
Thanks for the movie. Wouldn't have thought of that.
How was the visit?
ga8, a plural of the state of being gay or cheerful
<---- loves bruce willis. Back, btw. Meds taken, coffee made, dishwasher emptied and partly refilled.
visit was good. god, i love those two....they are so sweet together.
Also back.
:)
wb :)
who did you visit with, rose?
josh and jen dropped in sprite
oh how lovely, rose.
thanks for the 8s
jen had a couple of rechargeable batteries which she thought might suit don's nikon camera.
ugh, sorry sprite.
oh nice. And did they?
np rose :) I thought I'd evaded them by going downstairs, but I was too fast. Good clues :)
nope....don checked...they only work with sony cameras.
what a pity :( Nothing eats batteries like a camera.
they were incorrect when she ordered them from a web-si4. they sent the wrong ones, and it is cheaper for them to resend the correct ones.
would be nice if those worked.
my girl has her birthday next week and I just got an email that her last present will be sent to me today. So I have it all in time :)
That's great. She'll be very happy. What did you get her?
interesting...i have anaphylaxis to suxamethonium. they are showing that there is a correlation between a cough syrup containing pholcodine and sux anaphylaxis.
I have a whole bunch of material for her to make earrings and hairbands with... leather strings, feathers, connecting rings and tubes. Plus pliers and glue. And chaps for riding and a jacket.
and pholcodine is the only cough syrup i can take because of my elevated BP.
Sounds like she's a very lucky lady.
um... you lost me there, rose. You have what for which?
That isn't good rose.
suxamethonium is a muscle relaxant used during surgery.
yeah, she is, Liz, grin. Tim told me he is giving her sweets and tickets for a movie. And I suggested Rob give her a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
the last time i had sux i crashed on the table.
I understood the anaphylaxis and the link to the cough syrup but not much else!
:)
ok, so you have severe allergic reactions to something they use in surgery? And it is found in the only cough sirup you can take?
sprite, i hope she appreciates all you have gone to the trouble to find for her.
Down to 40 here. Enough for the time being. Hugs to you both.
there seems to be a link to using the cough syrup and an allergic reaction to the muscle relaxant.
oh she will. Caya is very appreciative. And she knows how hard it is to find the things she wants... she is all about natural colours and materials. Nowadays, every feather you can buy is painted.
*hugs Liz* Bye!
later liz. and dinner is ready. xoxox
bye rose, enjoy your dinner, darling
and back
wb darling. Good dinner?
yummy.....macaroni cheese with grilled tomato slices on top.
oh sounds lovely
sprite, the weight is starting to come off. two weeks into the di4, i have lost nearly 4 kg, that is close to 9lb.
don is doing it too, and already tightening his belt a couple of holes.
very nice, rose!! Slow and certain, that is the way. I take it you don't really di4? Just eat regular and make healthy choices?
and no snacking, of course, unless healthy, lol
yup....exactly....lots of salad stuff and lots of raw vegs.
carefully portioned meals...tonight's dinner was only 300 calories.
very good. And plenty of fluids, like water and tea. Exercise as far as you are able to. And good night's sleep too.
I have learned that it is very important to let your body have everything it needs. If not, your body goes into hibernation mode and will hold on to fat.
i figured the weight loss would help my hips.
it will, no doubt. Our extra weight is taxing for our hips etc.
I have been messing around with snacking for the last week. All the stress around dentist and family issues... so I grabbed myself together this morning and will be making better choices again.
sprite, as you know, i have been in a deep dark hole since my surgery december 2013. i am now being motivated to stuff, like di4ing.
I know, sweetie, and no wonder you had a tough time with it all. It is amazing that you are ready now to take it back on. *hugs*
it is great that don is prepared to do it too. it gives me such confidence to keep on going.
sprite, have you seen/he5 from rubyfoo lately?
as long as it isn't a diet in the popular sense, but just healthy eating, it is good for everybody. If you can have 5 or 6 eating moments in the day, 3 meals and 2 or 3 healthy snacks, and make sure you get everything your body needs, you can be certain of success.
not in the last few days, no
am doing it, sprite. okay, i think i had better email her and find out if all is okay.
you rocks, girl :)
and i am allowing us two days off/week. not going overboard, but to give us some 'down' time as well.
very good!
it's surprising...eating properly for 5 days seems to stem the appetite somewhat. so on our 'down' days we are still eating better.
at the clinic we were taught to differentiate between healthy choices, middle way ones and exceptions. Healthy choices normally, middle way only sometimes and exceptions (you've guessed it) rarely. It is liberating to know there are no forbidden foods, that way.
oh yes. Our bodies can be trained that way.
fireflies
plus...i did tell you about the big box of different diabetic sweets don's brother gave us for christmas....we allow ourselves just a small portion after dinner if we need something else.
WTG SPRITE!!!!
yeah, awesome :)
am off to answer emails, darling. I hope you will sleep well tonight. Was today any better?
yes love, thanx. enjoy your day as best you can...xoxox
*hugs* for my friends. And to you all, a blessed day and a peaceful night.

Hellow again.
Hello I mean :)
hello sukee :)
Hi Annie
How cold is it in Kitchener?
Actually, today is milder. It's about -6C. We are expecting snow today.
Expecting snow tonight..right now 17 degrees
Ah, so it's a bit cooler where you are. I checked and -6 is 21F :)
thanks for the translation
I guess you are relieved you did not get as much snow as Boston.
Very much so. The mayor closed all roads and streets in NYC. I live near the ocean. I thought it was going to be another Sandy. What a relief but I feel for the people who got it bad.
Yes, I know someone on Cape Cod and they had to be evacuated because their power went out.
During super storm Sandy I saw my car float away.
Oh boy.
Sandy ate Annie's car
I feel like I keep finding the same words over and over.
Hi Molly, Just about. Then we had no electricity, no heat and no water. Lasted in the apartment for 2 days. Liz called and asked if we had enough and she she came and got us. We walked down 24 flights shlepping luggage. We were at her house for 12 days. I thought it was going to be the same thing.
I would be terrified to live on a floor that high, for just that reason.
Im used to it and the view is fabulous
I used to live on the 18th floor. Once when the power was out I walked down. By the time i got there I couldn't walk to work :)
Now I am on the 9th, still hard for me if I will ever have to take the stairs, but better.
lve walked up 24 floors too, better walking down. LOL. But my thighs hurt for 2 days.
Couldn't do it (acrophobic)
I'm off for now, take care.
bye sukee
my son in law won't go out on my terrace. He always lived in a home.
A friend sent me pictures of the view from her 50th floor vacation condo in Florida. I got dizzy looking at them.
jeezomeez, molly! (afraid of heights!)
Hi Une :)
hey annie :-)
be back soon
hello dear friends. Everyone affected by the storm all dug out?
<<<<<< Peisley, shar pei who rode 3 whole days last weekend to her forever dad -- this is their first hug! :-)
Oh, une, WHAT a sweet photo!
So rewarding, Uni.
this pic choked me up for sure!
Oh good. The runny nosed one was kind of ew.
molly, this is the same dog :-)
she'll have to get used to the PA weather!
Yes but at least she is wiping her nose on her new owner : D
LOL!
OMG can't stop watching the Uptown Funk video!!
Bruno Mars is one of the few young musicians out there that I can tolerate.
that song is a gift from heaven, une....cheers me up no matter what
i love him!!!
me too, trif!!
he is a fine looking young man as well...wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers, as they say
My son will have the radio on, and Uptown Funk will play and I will say to him "See, this is what music USED to be like". Then we are back to lame Taylor Swift and Iggy Azalea.
INDEED!!!
whoo! I'm getting all hot and bothered here....
Trif, only church ladies add the "for eating crackers" part. : P
Molly, I totally agree -- first time I saw the video I couldn't believe what a blast from the past it was style/rhythm-wise!!
I think maybe I am a church lady, molly
Well isn't that special : D
:-D
well now, who could that be....hmmmm...SATAN?
looking forward to the SNL 40-yr anniversary show in February :-)
are any of the 8s compounds please?
most of them
have ga8 and it's not
other two are, I guess thats most
di7 and di8 are compounds
:-) don't have the other 2 yet
thanks. Got the ga8 from the count, will look for the other two. xoxo
okay. have one di8 now....
you guys are the best.
sorry di, sic, plural is not, so two out of three arfe not. mea culpa
sic should be sick
sick did it. Thanks! nbs, nbt
tx for the di8 "ill" :-)
And plural should be past tense
I'm wrong again, starting to notice a pattern
Hello
hello car my dearest love! How are you today?
aaahhh found the di8 Bruce Willis word!
hey car :-)
Better. You?
Anyone have the de6, my last word and can't find it.
de + almost "smell"
Sounds like the beginning of what your roll on your armpits
dragon woman took the students on an all day field trip, and of COURSE left me behind again, so I am having an easy day, thank god, as my head is still SPINNING. This vertigo is the worst
Thanks, fini!!!
congrats, bubba!
You might have a bit of an ear infection going on. Be careful.
Trif is ♪dizzy♫ her head is spinning♫like a whirlpool it never ends♪
its going to be a long ass day, but I will slog through.
ooohhh vertigo is the pits :-(
'tis
Um, you aren't driving with that are you?
I miss the nap room at Bain. In retrospect, having a nap room at work RULED
I am indeed molly. No other choice
It was technically a sick room, dear.
Whoops...
i used to work with a friend who had lots of sinus infections that were always accompanied by vertigo
I just laugh thinking about it, and the shenanigans Resale Rawhide and I got into in there....
Not THAT kind Molly, relax!
phantom: lardass
hahaha - I tried "lardo"
"Phantom Lardass" is a decent band name
Good Lord...someone is very stir crazy.
Abigail?
Yup
I wish I could see her today....
Me too
I am going VERY late to the swim meet, wish I had time to scoop her, but I won't. And it will be all hot and loud in there, so probs not suitable
Oh God no. She would be so confused and you would be miserable.
It is what it is.
Im wearing knitted tights, two sweaters, and a wool kilt today. "Miserable" is inevitable.
okay, it's official. I cannot use algebra to find the slope of a line, and I have until 1:44 to figure out how to teach it to the student I am tutoring, or I am SCREWED.
I managed NBT and NBS...progress
I can help you with that Trif
you have an equation for a line. you just need to rearrange the equation until it is in the format y = mx + b and then, m will be the slope.
thanks joseph! Meet me at my student's house at 2 please. :)
I get that part, but I get lost when I try to plug the actual numbers in, and half of them are negative, and then you have to get all algebraic and multiply and divide each side, and my head explodes.
you don't need to plug the numbers in if all you want to do is find the slope.
if you multiple/divide by a negative, it changes the sign.
whatever you do to one side you have to do to the other side.
If you want to give me an example problem I can walk you through it.
Eeee, this is like that nightmare I have about being back in high school algebra class.
Those with math phobia may want to turn off chat.
I am kind of curious....
ummm. Let's try this one: y = 1/2x - 1
ok so the slope is 1/2
the y-intercept is -1
greetings, all. a clue for the last de, please?
you can plot it just from that, put the y-intercept on, and for each other point go up 1 and over 2. (or down one and back two)
Thanks Joseph....seriously thanks.
No problem, if you need help with plugging something in and rearranging equations we can do that too.
how about this: Ken has a weekly goal of burning 2400 calories by taking brisk walks. The equation y= -300x +2400 represents the number of calories y Ken has left to burn after x hours of walking which burns 300 calories per hour.
write the slope as a fraction
well the slope is -300. people get thrown off by whole numbers when they are told to write it as a fraction, but a whole number counts as a fraction, basically. or you can write it as -300/1 if you want to be a stickler.
my head hurts. I just need to practice, I think
why does that make your head hurt if the last one didn't? it's the same thing, -300 is next to the x, that is the slope. last time 1/2 was next to the x, so that was the slope.
Her head literallly hurts...she is getting over the same stomach bug I had
if you have to write a whole number as a fraction you just stick a 1 under it.
so in y=1/2x - 3, the slope is 1/2 and the y intercept is -3?
correct
BUT, what if I said, 2x + 3y = 6 ? now can you find them?
nope
I feel like some sort of division is needed?
so this is the rearranging part. we want to have the form y = mx + b in order to easily see the slope and y intercept.
so we have to rearrange things until we have that format.
you move the furthest away things from the y, first.
so it would be 3y = 2x +6?
aha, no. you see, in order to get rid of 2x on the left, you have to SUBTRACT 2x (2x - 2x = 0). and whatever you do to one side you have to do to the other side. so that means you SUBTRACT 2x on the right, which means, it is -2x
3y = 2x + 6. now is where, you are right, dividing is necessary. because the y is MULTIPLIED by three, so we DIVIDE by 3, to get rid of it.
whoops now I didn't write the negative, haha
3y = -2x + 6
y = -2/3x+2?
that is correct!
slope is -2/3, y intercept is 2?
yes indeed!
Woot!
I am completely and utterly in love with you right now, josephjames
*blush*
I gotta go practice....
have fun!
hello all
Good luck
Hi TO
hi, car, how are you?

Good Afternoons, Everyone.
Good evening fellow Babblers xx
Hi worzel. You had any snow?
Hi Chris we had a bit this morning. Didn't stay though, soon turned to smush. You had much?x
Enough! It's raining now though
Yea, don't usually get much up this way. Flippin' cold though
Yes, definitely a wind chill factor today.
You 2 ok?
Yea we're good just trying to warm up. Roll on summer. How's you and John?
All ok here too
John's friend is in hospital and we are minding his dog. It has bigger ears than Mac :)
small dog?
Yes, cross yorkie and something fluffy. He's a little bigger than Rosie
I've not met Rosie yet. Di informs me Rosie's smaller than mac so your friends' dog's ears must far outstretch his body lol
bb in a bit x nipping shop sys chris take care x
Just sent a picture to Di
Bye worzel
Hi again. We're dealing with a bit of Norovirus here; not having much fun. :-(
Hi Nef, sounds nasty.
I'm cursing my daughter out mentally. I'm doing much better than DH. He wasn't even around her; but he caught it
shame
Is he very sick?
How are you doing, hego?
How much snow did you guys get?
Fine. Out today for the first time since Sunday.
But I don't mind that.
The good news is he's still walking; but his gut is pretty upset. (with his MS; any sickness knocks him down. He usually can't walk and ends up in the hospital). I'm hoping this won't get that bad.
Hope not
We had about a foot of snow.
DE7?
Did you get much snow hego; or just not interested in going out (because you said you hadn't been out for so long)
It was the snow.
sorry, MLF, I don't have it yet
(but am looking)

no problem i am kind of going at a snails pace with this grid at the moment..87 left
All those S's and I'm still forgetting to pl words!

Ugh!..I am in the local library doing some research and of course ended up with the stickiest mouse and keyboard in the place:(
so you came to Babble. :)

thanks Molly
ty, Molly
and Nef
yw.
lol, you know you play babble too much when you only have to look at that bottom right corner of the grid to KNOW that di 7/32 has to be in there somewhere even though you did not see it:)
bottom left*
tadone! finito! must go take care of some other business. ty for the clues, and have a great day/evening/night.
yaaa forLBD!!
Yay, LBD!! WTG!!!
hi all. any clues for the 8s? i have none of them.
Lots of clues for the 8 letter words if you read over the chat log
ty molly. will try. just got ja words.
have 2 di 8's need stats for the final please
ga8: states of being jolly. i'll be happy to trade you for the second di8
turqaz, i wish i had the di 8. will look. didnt get the chat clues from before either. and not getting the ga 8. darn.
turq....sickness....pt
thanks turq..di 8/50 plural of di 7/32 scientists work to cure these
not plural....pt
you're right pen pt
hi again. Not PL; it's PT
hi...
ty for di. got that one. but dont see the ga one. i tried some words and didnt work.
mea culpa mea culpa mea magnima culpa
tyvm pen & west. i just didn't see them
we got close to 18 in of snow on Tuesday....now expecting another 10-14 of heavier snow... :o(
yw...
yuck..we got about the same
i hope you can enjoy the snow pen.
well need more help with the ga 8. anyone have further clues? i have the idea of happiness or jolliness.
mkg...ga + vowel + gay nine**** (historical era)....
i don't enjoy the snow, mkg....have to shovel it and drive in snowy roads....neither is fun...
ok i have tried this over and over..........and it is like gay-i and then he t*** his shoes. but it wont take.
that ga clue isn't working for me either
How does someone "enjoy" 28 inches of snow? : O
keeps saying not found in the dictionary
hmmm....ga sorry.....two vowels in the middle...
heh heh....i guess if you ski or snowmobile...
try ga & then repeat mens neckwear t**s & ****
i love a big snow storm. i stay home and read books. i cook. i bake. and i go for walks in it as much as i can manage.
do you have to shovel it?
that did it..thanks pen and lyn
yw...
ty lynxxx. i was missing the third vowel. whew. i knew it didnt look right and couldnt figure it out. ty.
biggest fear is losing power
left off one asterix in my original clue...
i do shovel it sometimes. but i hire also.
need third 8 letter word if anyone has it.
our driveway is so small that our van covers most of it
westford is right. if power is on all is well. when you lose heat and lights you are in bad shape.
i shovel it all the time...and i don't normally mind it too much, but i have tendonitis in my right forearm, so it's a bit tedious....and this will be wet snow....the plow guy will create a snow bank in front of my car...
need that third 8 please. what is stat?
d18.55 the opposite of born and softs
If I could stay home and hire people to shovel I might enjoy snow more.
DI 8 x 2 and GA 8
me, too, lol....
so true about the snow plows blocking the end of the driveway
i don't normally lose power or heat....lucky that way....but this snow will be heavy, so downed power lines are possible....
looking for other di 8. is it similar to the other one? or same base word?
someone just clued it...
not similar, different base
lynxx at 4:04...
it's a Bruce Willis movie mkg
lynxx clued it at 4:04
plural, too...
ugh i am no good at this.
ty for clues.
Yippie Ky Ay
ty. got the word. missed the clue before.
there's a player at wordsplay whose name is Helena Handbasket...gotta love that... :oD
that should be me
still missing 2 i words for the i's in the second column. any help out there please?
do you have the japanese words?
got one of them. need other.
ty for clue
The 2nd column i's are the Japanese immigrant, + pl (they use different i's to start with
got both and done with the i words. ty.
yw...
mkg I have an unrelated question for you
Thanks Nef! I was so close to that...transposed letters.
a while ago you mentioned cooking dinner for 100 / what did you do with the chicken..I remember soy sauce on one
maybe that was one batch ?
Cooking dinner for 100? Dear God.
my hat is off to her that's for sure
If I can ever afford to entertain 100 people, I will assume I can afford caterers. : D
me, too!!!
if I remember correctly she did it in stages..cooked and froze etc
well tonight we are having baby back ribs cooked in the crock pot with Sweet Baby Ray
i am having a steak salad...bought it, lol....
now that's a picture !
*Sigh* We had to give up Sweet Baby Ray. Cutting down on products with corn syrup. Good stuff though. Your dinner sounds good, West.
cousin's recipe..couldn't be easier
I didn't even check the ingredients I'm bad
honey on the label so maybe...
Not sure what kind you have West. High fructose corn syrup is the first ingredient on the bottles I used to get.
better go back to making my own
Lots of words in this grid that don't make it into my everyday vocabulary
But then, what's new?
I'm sure I'll be using the ja 6 from now on
but for now it's time to take my leave
hello everyone
Hi Annie, how are you doing these days?
Hi Nef, Im doing okay and you and hubby?
okay (we probably have Norovirus; but hanging in there)
Oh dear. Drink lots of fluids.
that we are doing, slowly
Hello all. Beautiful blue skied day here in the great Northwest. Murphy is looking at me and wanting to play games. I shall wander off thinking of first generation Japanese immigrants and wondering how many combinations of is words I can some up with that are incorrect. Lots apparently.
hi stidg.
hello stidge
Got them!! Just letting go was the key!
Hi Nef off to play wiht Murphy--- bbl.
we have moderate temps here (upper 20's low 30's right in the middle of our ice carnival. Grass peaking through the snow; and some sunshine too
Does anyone need any clues? I'm done
congrats, Nef! I just finished too.
Congrats to you also, Annie!
Thanks. Hope you and hubby feel better soon.
This place is like the sick room lately. *Wipes counters with disinfectant*
We will. you take care, Annie
Molly, my son stopped by today with gatoraid and medications; he wore a gas mask to come in! (I told him it was much more important for him to wash his hands!)
Seriously? I was just joking about the disinfectant. Is he that odd about germs?
We all got gas masks the first Christmas he was married to his ex.
I'd told him to stay away because I didn't want them to get sick; he was taking me seriously but had to get something out of the basement here
No one needs clues? Then I'm off. Take care everyone, Happy Babbling!
*crickets chirp*

good evening, Molly
