how many miles do you usually have to do on your leg of the journey?
I couldn't possibly do that job.. I'd end up with dozens of dogs
single leg around 150 roundtrip -- sometimes do a double leg
wow.. all day then
you wouldn't because they have approved rescues/fosters/adopters waiting for them :-)

Hugs and hi Rose and hello friends
oh, pugs. my darling {{hugs}} how are you doing? or would you rather email?
I will write later but I'm on the ups I think
back, darn, not sleepy
thank goodness, dear. i have been praying for you every night and morning.
hi pugs, good to see you, hope you are on the mend
wb, flosey
How are you dear?
pugs, i am taking it very quietly. so all is quite well. muscles are being rather naughty...
thank you very much. Carol is still with me and will be until saturday--I am feeling much better at last
glad you've had someone to help, pugs
Hi Flosey, thanks and happy to be able to drop in for awhile
i know i have to wait....please don't forget to write. i will forward to sprite and lizlin for you.
and bless carol too. please tell her how thankful i am that she is able to be there for you.
thank you---for all you guys have done
I think this has helped her allot too--her spirits are much better and her sugar has came down since being my nurse maid--lol
*giggling* good for both of you i think.
well I cant say I have been much good company but I sure have been glaqd she came
at the risk of saying i told you so.....*grin*
lol-true---I suppose I'm kind of walking in your shoes right now--:)
ah well, you are coming out on the other side now. i am so sorry you had to suffer so much though.
I'm still very swollen, black and blue and sore but I do feel better this morning
I must go for I cant stand sitting very long--just wanted to drop in and tell you I am feeling better and send love and hugs to you all. I will write later for sure. Bye,bye dear friends
rest well dearest. xoxox
okay, dinner ready. will be back in about 20 minutes.
good morning all
well, hell! Did I miss our pugs, darn it.
hi there Sprite
hello dear flosey :) How are you today?
good thanks Sprite, went to bed but couldn't sleep - so back again!
oh that insomnia! Sorry you can't sleep, but happy to see you.
{{hugs}} dear sprite.
about ready for sleep now, 9 to go first
hello dear friend :) Thanks for your email. And wow, pugs in babble chog. Progress is being made :)
go go goooo flosey!
lol....yesssss!! she has promised to email and let us know what has happened but she certainly sounded a little more upbeat.
I woke up to a bright white world, then found my daughter frustrated... she was going to be late for school because our Terra had been a pest during the walk... wouldn't listen. So I took her by car, I think she just made it.
I read what she wrote, rose, and I am so relieved to see she is on the up now.
such a dark place to be, the post op pain and healing
you me and liz, and probably the whole of babbleland.
hehehe yes I think so too. Cyber bullies and other vicious elements excluded ;)
how are you doing with those last 9, flosey?
lol we almost have 3 wind directions in this grid.
down to 6 - stopped to see if any word from other daughter - she just bought a new condo - but during the process, she had to go to Toronto on business
she got the Condo she wanted
good news flosey, dear
always rather intense times, buying new property. Glad she got the one she wanted.
ty both, and now she'll have room for us to visit!!
we checked out the new corolla sports car today. only one word...WOW!!!!
that is even better, flosey :)
interesting, are you in the market rose?
lol... ok rose!
yes, flosey. we have decided it is no longer necessary to have two cars.
makes sense. Can you drive it?
we are trying to find a nice in between one. my little yaris is great around town, and don's holden is great on our driving holidays
well i can see the road from the driver's se4. i am thinking that is a plus.
yeah that in itself has its benefits. And how is your leg doing when you sit in it?
all good. pedals are ea4 to reach, very light, front wheel drive, the hatch opens to a quite large cargo area with the back se4s down. and don can get in and out without hitting his he4.
oh, and we are going for an automatic too.
sold! No sir, no need to wrap it for us, we will take it as is...
lol, just drive it out of the showroom
oh, automatic is good in your case! Very relaxed driving. Are you used to it?
and the colour....like a metallic burnt orange.
hehehe, snap, flosey
oh, an autumn colour. I love it.
FW, last word, te6/18 the latin pl - and now off to bed - must sleep, playing in a fund raiser lunch/bridge tomorrow with hubby
did the chog freeze or did a squirrel pass?
wtg flosey!!!!!!!!!!!! Good job, and sleep well. Have fun tomorrow at bridge.
and thanks for the latin plural(s)
ty sprite, have a good day now
WTG FLOSEY!!! sweet dreams dear

*hmpfffff* I swear, you love Fry better than me.
hmmmmm sprite......Fry......sprite.....Fry...\n.nope, both very entertaining, but i only love one of you.
*giggles* yeah right, but he takes up most of your attention. A whole lotta good it does me, that love ;)
you complaining??? Fry doesn't get emails from me, or christmas cards, or flowers...
hmmmm ok then, ok then.... :P
col....
btw, I would be distracted too. I love that show. The panel is as bad as he is. Such irreverent fun.
good heavens, the paris/dakar car rally is actually held in south america.
lol who'd have guessed
I had such weird dreams last night. I dreamt of my ex boyfriend again... who was telling me I was the only one who ever saw through him and he was ever so sorry I left him... so weird.
are you enjoying the grid? i was amazed how ea4 it was.
over halfway in half an hour... yeah, pretty ok. Fun words so far.
and for once i remembered to plural....*giggles*
yeah. Am also trying to 'comparative' everything, but no joy there.
there are a couple. one is actually someone who does something.
ahem, that should re4 three
ok, at least not a total waste of a good ending then. But not delivering on its promise either. Did you see my dream post?
yeah, weird thing but i sometimes dream of my ex...and not always nice dreams.
every now and then I have a kind of dream like this. Used to be he would call me within a week from it. Nowadays he does not have my phone number though, so no way to check.
might be better that way, sprite. maybe it is saying time to let go and concentrate on now.
I have. I am so much better off without him, sweetie. And Rob is totally different from him, in every good way. It was he who couldn't let go. Turning back to me every time a relationship shipwrecked for him.
good grief, sort of the same here. my ex never let me go, even kept calling his next wife by my name all the time. she was forever going off in a huff.
lol exactly the same thing with him. We took him out for dinner the last time I saw him, giving him a good view of our happy marriage apparently. He didn't suggest we get back together that time, anyway. Lots of drama followed, between him and a mutual friend of ours, he being in love and she feeling stalked by him. After that he disappeared again. And some time after that we changed phone companies and got a new number... which I couldn't give to him, because he had disappeared... and now he has no real way to reach me. I don't mind.
(note my smart tactic to get you focused on the chog in st5 of the telly)
who says i'm not watching the telly?
you are concentratedly reading my long post
my ex DIL told me that as he was dying, he constantly asked for me, but she never told me until after his death. unfortunately he told no-one else and so my eldest assumed i was unwanted at his father's funeral. all totally wrong of course.
*sigh* those good-for-nothing guys, huh... we can't help loving them. They need love so bady. But man it is so unhealty to love them too much.
i hear you sprite
*hugs*
i got all those things done today. don loves his new piece of jewelry. and boy, did we splash out at lunch!! hot roast beef and gravy sandwiches on fresh white bread. man, it was amazing.
oh how wonderful, rose! Am so glad you had a good day. You were definitely due one.
thanx dearest.
i had a nana nap this afternoon when the pain meds kicked in.
and how is the ole body now? Pain bearable? No cramps in lower back?
not at the moment, thank heavens! and you?
i didn't need the magnesium at 2pm. i had it on hand, just didn't need it.
I am ok. Had a weird start of my day, had to drop caya off at school even before I took my meds. So a bit bumpy at first, but meds are kicking in and it will be alright.
awesome, that you didn't need the magnesium! Good sign.
the trick is to do everything in small stages. and the driving wasn't too bad today. don not braking too hard. he must have been concentrating more than usual.
good man. Yes, the small stages. Same here. Baby steps, if we can manage to remember, will get us there. Too bad we are so impatient, lol.
so the car dealer visit was an extra and i managed it okay.
wonderful. Am really glad. Makes you feel good, doesn't it :)
it does, sweetie. when i manage something extra it is a good day.
I know that feeling :)
if i could i would be dancing with joy. well i am in my heart.
better only in your heart than only with your body, sweetie
lolol
it is a busy day today for me. I should get a move on with the grid, lol... gives me time to do stuff in stages.
going to get meds re5. bbl
ok darling
and back
welcome back :)
how are you doing with the grid?
almost there
good for you, sprite
found a pattern that is giving me heaps of words :D
not going to ask until you finish
ask away, darling, I can knit and talk at the same time, as a dutch saying goes :)
you mean walk and chew gum at the same time as we say over here?
lol I think that is similar, yes
okay, have taken meds...if i am suddenly not here you know what has happened....lol
lolllll *pictures rose splashing her face over the keyboard*
fireflies.
WTG SPRITE!!!!
lovely grid, as you told me. Sweetie, I am off. Will answer emails first, then go on to my domestic tasks for today. *hugs*, sleep well, and have a good day tomorrow.
and to all of you babblers out there... a blessed day and a peaceful night.
{{hugs}} my darling. i hope you day is all you wish for.
lol it won't. I wish for a quiet day all by myself. But fridays don't roll that way, grin. Which is good for me, I know. *hugs* and *poof*
col....don't i know that....and tomorrow is saturday and i get the wonderful general knowledge crossword in the newspaper. lovely!!
Good morning all.
good morning, sukee

Long weekend
I looked up the wine.
Very long weekend of providing reassurance to worried mamas.
scrab i tried that

Scrabs what do you think of the whole measles thing?
can you expand scrab on that clue please?
mlf...still looking for the wine?
sa5/12 (to fry foods with seasonings and oil) + last letters of sea bird. Then plural
Hego, we have had to deal with anti-vaxxers for so many years. All I can do is sigh. Maybe this crisis will encourage people to vaccinate.
I hope so.

But the anti-vaxxers have very restricted tunnel vision so it is impossible to communicate with them.

So many mothers say, "I don't believe in vaccines." Or, "I don't trust the vaccines." Uh, vaccines save lives. Reflect on pre-vaccine childhood mortality.
Another line: "He is too young/small to get the vaccines now." Uh, your child is at high-risk NOW, why wait??
My grandma lost her first 2 babies to diphteria.
I like to walk around old cemeteries. I note the number of kids that parents had, and see how many made it to adulthood. Clusters of siblings died within days or weeks. Probably measles, meningitis, pneumonia.
So sad.
Mr. Bich was born in post-war Germany. The hospital didn't even have a roof. He had whooping cough and diptheria. Luckily he survived
Yes he is, bichon
Amazing that he survived.
Strong constitution
whooping cough can be deadly to infants.
It is amazing he survived. I don't know if they even had antibiotics
I don't think they were available for general use yet.
I had whooping cough as an infant
I don't know when penicillin was introduced, but they had sulfa drugs
Hi Annie. Glad you recovered. :)
thanks, hego :)
Yes they had sulfa.
Annie, Isla turned 6 two days ago and is doing well in a typical kindergarten class.
Scrabbs, Wonderful news.
Who is Isla Scrabs?
Laundry beckons, be back later
My friend's daughter, a patient, with Down syndrome. She nearly died at age 2 --pneumonia and heart failure. She survived heart surgery.
Good to hear that Downs children can be mainstreamed
Early intervention--multiple therapies--from birth can help these kids achieve more than previously expected.
It's amazing how well they do now.
Most plateau at gr 1-2 math/reading, but I had a patient that did well til gr 6.
my daughter is still too young for her MMR shot, so this measles resurgence is terrifying
Amazing
The town snowplow is going by now. *roar*
True, mael.
Stick close to home Mael. No crow.
crowds
Imagine if you had a child with a compromised immune system
this is why community immunity is so important, I can't believe we're sliding backwards because of fear and ignorance
community immunity is a nice rhyme - maybe you could make it into a vaccination campaign slogan
When I was a vaccine nurse I used to stress the effect of the unvaccinated on the rest of the population. This is more than just a personal decision.
Good one JJ!
taus
Great idea, JJ
oops
lol mael
Grazie, Mael.
I think they're purposefully moving away from the term "herd immunity" because some parents (aka: idiots) didn't respond well to it
One of my anti-vaccine mothers, in my practice, told me, "As long as 85% of the community vaccinates I feel that my kids are safe." Argh.
Help for di8 please?
Larry Wilmore has the new show replacing the Colbert Report and he did one on vaccines, and gave a voice to an anti-vaxxer. I felt like that was really irresponsible.
second one, that it
If there was an Ebola vaccine and it spread in the US, I bet all these antivaxers would be lining up
that could turn into a di8.
what happens when no one immunizes = di8
I do not have the first di8. The second is a naural di8, such as a hurricane.
Oh
also earthquake, hurricane
hah, thanks for the di8
ty shirlokc and hi
i had the measles as a kid and it was icky
Thank you, Scrabbler!
stupid parents, what's most worrying are that these are supposed to be intelligent people, high income etc.
Poor Shirlock.
I had whooping cough and it was terrible, but the vaccine wasn't available then
The first di8 clue please?
in Italy at least
it gives them the illusion of control to decide not to do what most people are doing.
first part of a girl's best friend + city thoroughfare + cut flowers are often put in a v***
Arrogance of the privileged. This couldn't happen to me.
if it wasn't for the danger to the public and the poor kids themselves, i'd say serves them right to see their kids suffer
My clinic patients did all their vaccines on schedule and begged for more.
the thoroughfare is abbr

hello everybody
We\re getting NY's blizzard now. More snow in the past couple of days than in the whole of last winter.
hello ruby
I don't go outside
Hi Ruby. There's more to come.
I can't breathe properly, so can't do the usual stuff
It's very pretty but very inconvenient
It's snowing again here. Not much, but its annoying. NYC didn't get much of any snow compared to the coastal regions
rain yesterday and now snow - so there is layer of ice under the snow - temperature dropping all day
The dogs love it and stay outside most of the time. lying in the snow or snubbled down in the hedges
We have been getting snow since yesterday and the snow advisory ends at 2pm.
/what ever happened to the January thaw?
sdnuggled*
Cute, Ruby.
must go. Later folks.
They are definitely "snow dogs"
bye hego
bye hego
My two don't like any inclement weather. And their coats are very thick now
bye hego
They are totally unfazed, even though it's in the 20's and windy. Their coats are amazing
My beloved Ruby didn't like to get her back end wett, so hated snow
Time to get ready for work. I start in 2 hrs and am on call til Monday at 8am. Quite a marathon.

Hope I don't ruffle any feathers but may I get a clue for the AE 6/21 please?
ae + beginning of brain surgery + consonant
I hope you have that one "down" zooz
I am NOT liking the S words
ty for the ae word, ru....i was wondering if there was an ae word...
well.. I found it last night.. and gave up on anything else.. so figured it had to be an ae
do you find the words alphabetically?
What is the DEF please?
like all the a's first, then the b's, etc?
no definition
Typical!
think if you called someone an ass starting with an ae
aeneous means bronze colored....don't know if it's related...
good clue penq ...lol
*enjoying my break in the PB*....
Thanks, Pen!!
maybe John Boehner is a ae6 then.. but he's kind of orangey
Oh hahahah I can see the ass clue now :-)
my niece used to talk about the orange girls in high school...
Anyway many thanks for the help.
Well I think fake tan might be slightly better than laying under a sunbed!
well.. sounds like he's already pickled anyway so what does the orange tint matter

senior?
older....retired people who have time to exercise during the day... ;o)

I guess that's better than "old farts exercise class"
movement, flexibility and balance...

Hello friends.
Or enemies? Hello enemies...?
Slithers back into lurk mode, licking wounds.
Golly. Nobody here at all?
hey soodle!!
back to find the last 75!
Une!! thank goodness. I was feeling like the last cockroach left on the planet after the big boom.
LOL :-)
back again
hey nan :-)
Hello Nan.
Oh *sniff* poor Soodle *sniff* not enough attention *sniff*
hey molly :-)
My High=Maintenance self was feeling very neglected, Molly. Very neglected indeed. But Une fixed that for me.
We had a lovely lunch out yesterday to celebrate my Dad's 87th birthday. All of us siblings were there to share the momentous occasion. We had a wonderful day.
Good evening my friends;)
Hey Crossy :-)
Lunch sounds nice Soodle. And attention seekers usually prosper here. : P
sounds terrific, soodle!
At the restaurant, I met a 'girl' I used to go to school with. Girl in inverted commas, because she is mid-fifties, like me. But we took a trip down memory lane, and ended up nearly getting thrown out of the restaurant for laughing so raucously. It was an totally unexpected bonus to the whole lunch with my Dad.
what fun! :-)
2nd in 5, please -- monkeys won't cooperate
Lunch with Soodle sounds like a hoot
in5 bury
duh --ty - just couldn't see it!
Lunch with Soodle could be many things. Quiet isn't one of them. Factor in Soodle's family, or old school pals, and , just get the ear plugs...
:-D
I could have enjoyed something like that. I've been sick for 3 days with a stomach virus. I could use some cheering up
eeewww, sorry, bichon
No one's more sorry than I am
Aw, Bich... sorry to hear that.
To be able to eat lunch and laugh sounds like fun
Soodle, get up on the bar and sing for Bich.
http://tinyurl.com/bgrmg92 No, I won't sing, but I will send Bich this. Guaranteed to heal, soothe and make everybody feel better. Guaranteed.
Enjoy, Bich...
And, if that doesn't make Bich better, well, I guess I better tune up for Gang Bang....
Ty Soods
What is the we 4/8 between the first and third we 4/8's?
not there yet but will look
sound like a power making device in a river
Bless her heart, Soodle still thinks everyone is a little bit Irish.

Couldn't we all be a little Irish?
hope you feel better soon, bich

Hello. Just starting after having fed Murphy his dinner. Foggy and dank here in the great Northwest.
hi stidg -- sun finally burned fog off here, but will be dipping behind the mountains soon
12 to go, but not seeing anything -- break time I think
Have a good evening, cybernan.
Howdy, Stidmere:) a balmy minus 18c here in the great white north;)
Hi all :)
Howdy Liz
Now to try and find the 77 left over from yesterday.
a gentle wind is wafting off the bay at what seems like 1000 miles an hour and is bringing the wind chill down to minus 25 or so;)
That sounds very cold, but perhaps you hardy guys are used to it.
We make a lot of noise about it, but we also pride ourselves on being able to play out in it when it is minus 30 or better;)
Here the sun is shining, few clouds in the sky and the temperature is in the upper 20s C. Makes a change from all the rain we had a week ago.
I love watching many of the ski activities on TV - ski jumping is amazing!
Had the snowshoes on today and spend a nice hour and a half out on the trail. Was invigorating;)
Crossy, glad to see you are enjoying your winter wonderland!!
If you're properly dressed, I'm sure it's fun. The problem with snow in the UK, is that it's either slushy or icy!
Hi stidg.
No ski jumping for crossy. Imagine a polar bear trying to ski and you get a picture of me on skis
LOL - I wouldn't ski jump any more than I'd bungee jump.
The last time I put on cross country skies, I was so glad there were no cameras in view. More down than up but like Crossy says, invigorating.
i'm just not seeing words in this grid! I know some have said it's a nice grid - I don't like it.
hi joiners
hi again -- I agree with you lix
I've been cross country skiing once (parents lived in Vancouver for a while) and downhill skiing on a week's holiday. Quite enjoyed it. Also more down than up but didn't get the bug!
Hi TO
tr 8, please?
There are whole letter groups that are not jogging my memory.
tr 8 add a consonant 2 letters before the end of the previous word.

Yay for Groundhog's Day!
Is that tomorrow?

and now to lowe the thermostat and grab a snack.
Ah right! Monday.
lower it? are you too warm?
it seems to be most closely related to german tradition burrowing animals were held in regard, espeically badgers. thery are not native here, so the legend was transferred t the groundhog.
That's interesting. Didn't know the origin and had never heard of Groundhog Day until the film was released!
yes, aloy, we got a sudden snow squall and wind and it got cool inhere
ah so, interesting.. did not know the history
Fireworks - not too many unusual words but for me, it was really twisty and difficult!
Enjoy your evenings. Need a break from the computer - been here too long this morning.

2 left and need help for both: first di 8 and st 6/27, please?
st6 - to go with a boyfriend for a while.
the first di8 has the same first five letters as the di7 that follows it; just put an enzyme ending on it
steadies isn't there, so I don't know and have no clue what an enzyme ending is
spell the st with the sometime vowel.
ok, the chemical ending for an enzyme is ase
oh - got the st -- still don't see it but guessed it
ty -- only took about 3 months worth of chem in high school, so useless there.
ah so.. fyi, the ending for a sugar is ose
