{{hugs}} dee. sweet dreams
peach, think of a word which means to sample food, cooks/chefs do it a lot as they are cooking.
now, plural it, and remove one of the consonants
I've been trying that but obviously, I am hitting the wrong keys
I've been trying that but obviously, I am hitting the wrong keys

Thanks much, hun.
dinner ready. will bbl. xoxoxox
morning all
Good morning, everyone:)
hi crossy *hugs* How are you this morning?
((sprite)) I am fine. Bit wound up, and upp an hour and a half too early though. Today is my big final exam:)
ah, a bit of positive stress will help you perform even better. I will think of you!
I had a teacher friend do the math for me. I am going into it with an 82%. The exam is worth 30% of the total so If I really nail it I can finish with an 87.4% give or take should all things go well:)
sounds good to me. Just give it your best, you'll be fine.
Hello, all :-)
hi zooz! *hugs* how are you today, dear man? Is it as sunny there as it is here? And cold!
You do not need it, Crossy, But god luck with your final exam!
Hello, Spritey, Just had a deluge of hailstones & rain. But that has now given way to blue skies and sunshine. And cold as you say.
I had just wrote all that in the 'add woed' box.it did not take..lol
I love it when winter shows us this face. Don't mind the cold too much and love the clear skies and the crisp air.
word*
looks like crossy deserted us in favour of tea, or toast, or something like that.
i take my eyes off the screen for a few minutes and you all slip in. {{hugs}}dear sprite, g'day crossy, g'day zooz
There are a lot of bulbs coming up with lots of crocuses and others in bloom!
how odd, zooz, lololol
Hello, rose.Hope you enjoyed your meal :-)
hi rose, my darling friend *hugs*
yes, here as well, zooz. The relatively warm temps have lured them out early
howdy zooz ((rose) et all..brb..kettle is on and the cats are demanding to be fed..
hehehe I knew it, crossy :P
I do love the snowdrops they look really nice little flowers.
lamb shank, rice, zucchini, field mushrooms and baby broad beans.
rose, good news about the car. How did your call to the doctor go?
omg to die for, that dinner
Sounds very nice, Rose!
I used to hate broad beans but now i love them.
he is away until next month. this guy does so many jaunts overseas.
We call Zuchini, courgette here.do not know why.
um except for the broad beans! I really cannot stand them. Dutch for broad beans is capucijners. And we call zuchhini courgettes too.
courgettes surprisingly is a french word....lol
I mixed up the translation for broad beans and string beans. I love string beans.
we have many words we stole from french, rose. I think english has too.
We call string beans..runner beans..lol
i hate big broad beans, but these were itty bitty ones about 1/4 the size if big ones.
Agree with that, Sprite.
you are making my mouth water, Rose.
I used to hate string/runner beans. 'Normal' here is to cut them up really fine. My mother did that too, and then cooked them till they were overdone. Then my love cooked them for me... cut in big pieces, just cooked till perfection and with a bit of bacon and tomato... to die for.
Okay i am really drooling now..lol
oh yum sprite.
hahaha and that before breakfast! Or right after, maybe?
not had breakfast yet.it normally comprises of about 6 honey sandwiches and a cup of tea..lol
aw darn it rose, that is not good. Having to wait another month. Isn't there anyone else there who can get things in motion for you?
sounds good to me, zooz! I just finished my coffee and will start on my first of two apples for breakfast soon.
nope, he is one in a million. not going to trust anyone else.
ok that makes sense. But jeezz louise, not a good thing. Have you made an appointment for the day after his return?
jeezz louise..LOL
yup. on it already hin
great, darling. The sooner the better.
Okay I got 'col' as chukle out loud. But what is 'hin' stand for?
a very short form of honey
and do you know what 'sis' means?
oic!
hinny, geordie word for woman.
Sister?
but used as an endearment, at least on my part.
yeah, but as an abbrev it means 'snickering in silence' which is what we usually do when we type 'lol'.
Thank you, Rose.That makes sense.
speak for yourself sprite. i may be the odd one out here, but i am usually laughing out loud, much to don's dismay.
I know, darling. Hence the 'usually'. You are not really usual, lollll.
Teehee! ((Rose))
or maybe unusually....col
for me and other dutchies, 'lol' in itself is a word meaning fun. Having 'lol' is having fun. So we use 'lol' even more freely, meaning anything from laughing out loud to thinking something is funny.
very unusual, rose... in a good way :D
brrr.. back down to the deep freeze this morning. Tis minus 34 with the wind chill:(
I was showing my sister babble the other day.And i was finding all these words. And she asked me what they meant.I was a bit embarrassed as all i kept saying was I do not know..just words I normally find in the grid..lol
poor crossy
Gosh way too cold for me, Crossy!
hahahaha zooz! You have to learn a new one every day! Go find those definitions! Check out my profile, babble idiom list at the bottom, for a start :)
darn windows are frozen shut again:(
Alas ahe was not interested in playing babble after all the effort of trying to get her to play it :-(
ugh crossy.not for me....well....maybe....if it means i don't feel hot and perspire anymore.
don't curse them, crossy. If you were a window at those kinds of temperatures, you'd be frozen shut too
You have to be a bibliophile and a wordie to appreciate babble:)
her loss, zooz
I have gone to your profile on many occasions, Sprite. It has helped me find the babblets :-)
i think zooz, you are either a wordie nut or not.
hehehe good to hear!
snaP, rose
But everyone should be a word lover. They are amazing!
col, crossy
Like the TA 4/4 language spoken in two villages in New Mexico. I would never say the word in normal conversation. But I know it is there!
ty zooz, I needed that one:)
I love words so much. It is hard to understand how people can discard them so easily, lol.
zooz, my love of words started with my beloved nanna ans pa. he was a school teacher and delighted explaining words and how they are formed to me. she just loved doing crosswords. in the morning i would crawl into their bed between them while they did the crossword in the paper.
awwww that is such a lovely memory :)
Aww that is a wonderful story, Rose. What a memoery to have for ever!
snap, zooz :D
Memory* I can spell...honest!
they were wonderful people. i cherish all that they taught me.
Well I can spell..does not mean i can spell correctly..lol
we understand you just fine, no worries
It is now good.I need to get my honey sandwiches and another cup of tea on the go.Be BAck Soon!
It is funny. My father and mother were not readers, but I remember my teacher trying to show me the mysteries and delights of a book, and how wonderful stories are once you know how to unlock them. She explained how you were never alone, and how you always had things to see, places to visit, and people to meet so long as you had book in your hands. I still remember the day when it "clicked" for me as a child--when reading started making sense. I do not know the name of that long ago teacher, but she gave me the biggest gift a person has ever given me:)
crossy, according to my mum, i was reading at the age of 4, as was eldest son. we both love reading.
* my eldest son *
I tried with my son, but now as a young man he can take it or leave it it seems:(
But I see in the school that this is the case with many of the teens these day. too much competition from the internet I think.
each to their own, crossy. i am sure he has many other qualities which are just as good.
I first learned to read upside down, from watching while my parents read, lol. Preschool at well. I have managed to infect my children with the virus, thank God. My daughter is an avid reader, my son doesn't read for months, then suddenly the fever grabs him and he reads one book after another.
I am tutoring two students in the college English class and the girl , about 19-22 years of age says to me "this will be the first book I have read all the way through"
omg, crossy... that is so sad. I blame the parents.
Got her reading Of Mice and Men
oh that is a good one
Crossy, uo have a wonderful way of describing your past events. That was a delight to read about the teacher telling you about books.Love it!
:)
And it is a slim novel and an easy read on the surface. I am not asking her to plumb its depths for hidden meaning or symbolism.
you* damn keyboard.
yeah, if you can trigger a beginning love for reading, that is much more important
I have just started to read 'A Suitable Boy' by Vikram Seth.
and i, hopefully, am halfway through out of africa.
She cried when the puppy died in George's arms:)
It has small writing and it has 1535 pages!!
ouch, a big one!
I love it when i book can really move you emotionally.
A*
Okay it is nt the keyboard.it is me..lol
Sortahot not to be confused with sortacold the first refers to looks, the second to temperature, as in he was sortahot in that movie.
Hello all ((hugs))
LOL
oh I love it, mel. Hi :) Am gonna add it to our dictionary
g'day mel. xoxox
Hello all xxx
Hello, Meliae :-)
Good news I fired the warden! Well my sis did lol
She was horrible to you.So I am not suprised..lol
Hiyas zooz
added, mel, thanks!
You are quite welcome.
oh I missed that story! Which warden? How was she horrible?
The dang night hooker nurse for my bad days
ditto, what sprite said
Grouchy old biddy body mean as heck treated me like I am 4
oh dear, just what you don't need when you are having a bad day
I think she was a drill sergeant in a past life
No need to put up with abuse.Especially if you are paying for it:)
This is an ornery grid
very good that you are rid of her now. Any success in finding a replacement?
Unless you swing that way! lol!
i worked with a night nurse like that. she never did figure out why the patients i had taken care of the night before were so demanding when she took them on the following night. ( because they were no trouble when i looked after them)
It does seem to have teeth, Maliae.
lol crossy
actually, it doesn't, zooz. Teeth is a phantom. Now the singular does work...
Not getting one I will crawl if I have to, she was only here to make sure I was comfortable and do light house work
lol I was worried after I put teeth then realised it was ok it was the other word :-)
Lol crossy
all good, zooz :D
oh but there are bound to be good, sweet ones out there, mel... you sure it isn't too taxing for you to go it alone?
It is hard to find good home care. The long time ones have had all the humanity drained out of them. You are nothing but a piece of breathing meat in their eyes.
That is a good description of me, Crossy..LOL
mel, would you like me to come on over?
lol, Zooz
It will be fine might get someone when I have surgery on my arm for a minute but to afford good care is ridiculously expensive and yes I know it is worth it.
ohhhh that is SO not true, zooz! *hugs* Silly man!
awww zooz. no way, mate
oh wouldn't that be awesome, rose? You'd be a blessing for mel
Teehee...I know ..just messing :-)
don't, zooz. Not even for a joke. Think and say nice things about yourself, you deserve no less.
*stern mama look*
Ouch ouch ouch my back is hurting...get back in the line, behind ME..Rose.I am first :-)
zooz, crossy would like to fill you in on workcover agents latest caper.
I did find some great new research on LS sounds very promising.....Rose you haven't left yet?
lollll zooz!
remeber it was workcover agent's doc who said i was un employable?
yes rose?
well, now the medical panel has told them the nerve injury is part of the package.
Stem cell research and a bunch of stuff, finally it is being recognized in the medical community.
oh that is good news, mel. At last.
now workcover agent has to pay me to stay at home, not look for employment AND pay for ALL treatments, including pain doc accounts.
rose, what does that mean for you?
Wow that is even better, Rose!
i don't like to gloat...but i LOVE it. the irony is magnificient.
yes yes yesssssss that is awesome! That is so awesome! Rose, please gloat, unreservedly. You have earned the right thrice over.
That is great Rose.
Thrice..such a lovely old word :-)
oh man, they are SO beating themselves up for playing it this way. They are so screwed.
I love that word too!
isn't it, zooz :) I love it.
if they had just paid up initially all this would not be enforced. i would have glady taken the payments only for medical and like treatments. but now my lawyer is going for the jugular.
they made your bed, now they will have to watch you sleep in it, lololol
hahahaha I like your pun, Rose!!
Brb time for meds :)
oh, gosh, i love you guys.
ok mel :) We'll keep your chair warm for you
You get them rose!! Our workman's comp(work cover) and O.D.S.P made us squirm for almost a decade before they approved my wife! They are the same world over it seems
I was even told once by one disability worker that they automatically deny the first batch of applications simply to try and weed out the fakes.
They figure that anyone who hangs in there year after year during the process is legit
its true crossy, most people are denied the first time they apply for disability..
it is partly the fakes that cause this kind of nastiness. Once you have seen a number of fakes, you tend to get a negative approach. But in the end, it comes down to money. They would do almost anything to prevent having to pay up.
cues
Not nice for the legit ones though.
oops sorry....
g'day ives
Then the doctors do not help with their incomplete reports. I cannot tell you how many times my wife's application was bounced back on that alone
hi ivesy :)
not telling you exactly what you need to hand in is part of the delaying tactics. Every year they don't have to pay is their gain, or so they think.
yup
morning my friends..nice crisp day here with school closed again.. kids will sure be making up days..
but crossy, you both won through in the end. my hat's off to your persistence.
Meanwhile you go bankrupt waiting...
Yes, we won...eventually
I mean she is mostly blind. She is not going to suddenly gow a new pair of eyes. it is an easy call one would think.
root
I raise my cup of tea to your wife and you, Crossy..Cheers!
grow*
ty, zooz:)
Ok I have question that perhaps you all can help with, fibromyalgia, lichen sclerosis, and lichen plants are all autoimmune diseases of which I have them all. Autoimmune just means your immune system is whacked...
bless you both, crossy. special kisses to elegant
yes, mel
Lichen planus dang autocorrect
yes mel?
So they have me on meds for each...which makes me goofy as heck, you would think they could figure out just what is causing my immune system to be screwy
I am very sorry to hear you have all those, Mel.But I have no idea about these things.I hope , Rose or Sprite or someone else can help you though.
sounds like they should turn you inside out to find out what is causing your immune system to malfunction, mel. You need a dr House diagnosis.
Not only for me but for all the others that suffer with different types of autoimmune disorders
mel....have you tried natural treatments. i use anatrin and magnesium malate for my FM. check out the vitacost web site.
I think I miss my brain the most, I mean some days I would rather live with pain than deal with the drugged up goofiness.
well, my cousin was told she had a awful disease where her skin and internal organs harden.. the dr. who told her this is a specialist.. turns out all her blood work was negative for this . and she doesnt have it....(thank god)
some doctors, sigh... am glad your sister does not have this illness, ivesy. I hope they will find out what is wrong for real soon
I hear you, mel. Feeling out of it because of meds is very very unpleasant.
I am going to meet with naturopathic lady next week. The problem is the U.S. is owned by the pharmaceutical companies, so they just like on more pills and send you on your way.
Pile on*
turns out she has a disease associated with thyroid.. which is treatable.
not good either, but a much friendlier diagnosis to live with, ivesy. And sorry, I meant your cousin, not sister.
true, mel. I think going the nature way is a very good idea.
Thyroid disease is scary but treatable make sure she stays on her meds once they get it sorted out.
yes sprite we were all relieved.. she said the dr.was just down right rude. like this is what you have and you will die...
mel, the U.S. company i purchase my meds from is very reasonable, honey.
omg she should file a complaint. How inhuman.
Sounds like my first Dr with the LS said it was in order of diagnosis and discarded, heroes, VD, chronic yeast, std, thrush, allergies
egad, ives. that doc needs to be struck off his medical board. what a nutter!!
I will look into those I wrote them down :)
Herpes not heroes Lmao
lol
yay for autocorrect! A whole new kind of humour was born.
she has another appt. with her and says she is going to confront her.. put her thru hell for two weeks befor she found out it wasnt that disease.. what an ass
I agree Sprite, and yes Ivesy very rude and unprofessional!!!
ahh i spell the coffee...bbs...
lol, you spell coffee so very well, ivesy!
I bought a little book with lots of autocorrect that people have experienced whilst texting. It is flipping hilarious what has been text to people that was not meant to of been text..lol
Lol
okaaaay. don is giving me subtle hints. the tv is turned off, the bedside lamps are on, and he asking if i want the main light off. i am thinking he wants to go to bed...just because it's nearly 11pm.
oh lovely, zooz! I sometimes surf the web for those, and some make me laugh so hard
Sweet sleeps, Rose :-)
hehehe sounds like he needs a cuddle, rose...
I was texting my boyfriend about seeing peacocks at the zoo and it came out I was seeing big cocks in the zoo
col, naughty sprite...but i loves ya. thanx zooz. catchya all xoxox
roflollll mel! How did he take that?
Sweet dreams Granny and I will look into those meds.
*hugs rose* Night, darling.
night-night mel.
LOL how funny, Mel!
He said you are seeing what????? What kind of zoo did you go to.
lolllll good one
and of course you said 'to a real manimal zoo'
Actually I teased him a bit and said why it is called chippendales lol
Lol Sprite.
:D nice one!
Hauser is a noun?
Is that how you spell it, like the gun
hauwitzer?
Oh lol I blame the meds
sure sure, blame the meds, lol ;)
As soon as you typed it the light bulb went on ROFL
oh that is just like asking for a clue! Asking is knowing :)
trousseau is my phantom
ooo I like it
Howitzer.
Look how almost perfect it is lol
that is the one. Thanks zooz.
yeah just that rotten S in the wrong place, mel.
Thank you Zooz
I did look it up..funny thing is if you put hauser gun into google images there is a gun called that too.
cool, zooz!
all the things we learn from babble!
Ok so I was partly correct, Damn enable anyway, it enables us to go bonkers.
lol
too true
Ok lower right h is getting the white out treatment
hehehe poor mel
think magic words. Like abra cadabra
or a favorite Halloween movie :)
Are you freaking kidding me
that too! Hi aceymcc
And not cold.
nope, cross my heart
I would rather have Hauser work lol
hello! just a quick sneak in before work!
nothing like babble to get you in a good mood before work :)
and make you think about it all day! haha
yeah, enable. Gotta love to ha4 it
lol
Ok H you have been spared, now to tackle your identical twin brother
the other H has 4 almost identical sounding words.
happy babbling! i'm outta here.
6/9 on that one so looking
have a good day at work, aceymcc
Bye, Aceymcc :-)
Bye Ace have a wonderful day
think the movie Turner and Ho5. And then 2 other ho words like it and one ha.
Have those 3 darn it
a kind of frost, a kind of deer
How many ha words?
only 3
Ok have them
wtg mel
I miss the list some days but I think I learn more words without it, if that makes sense.
sure does to me
Need to go.Nice to see you all.Have a wonderful day/evening.Toodle pips for now.
you too, zooz, all the best for today :)
You focus more on word make up and combinations of letters, patterns if you will.
Bye Zooz have a good day.
yes. And when you use the list, you are more focused on the alphabet and which letters could come between others.
fireflies. A grid with a bite today. Both literally and figuratively
Crossy is back. Had to do an emergency milk. Wind chill has tghe temp down to minus 35 out there...brrr
I was starting to feel like it was not fun anymore finding the words.
milk run*
*hugs crossy in a big warm blanket*
Holy crap Crossy
ouch mel, that calls for a break, methinks
Jeep never did thaw out even though I was driving for 10 minutes:)
I enjoy the grid a lot more since I quit using the list and caring if I finish or not.
Agreed, Meliae. First year here i used to agonize over every grid. No more.
And I though 32 above was cold!
lol 32 F is t-shirt weather!
Congrats on fireflies Sprite
thanks mel :)
ok, does anyone need a clue from me?
yaaa for sprite!!
thanks crossy ;)
I do try to get NBS and Nbt still though.
I am good just muddling along in my befuddled state of mind, lol
most people play so organised. I am ashamed to say I just do the random thing. I type in what I see. That is about it.
For a 100 word grid I probably type in 500 words or wanna be in my mind words
oh, same here. The amount of phantoms I seem to spot is endless. If we were scored for how many wrong words we'd type in for every good one, I'd be kicked from the site, lol
I don't think I study the grid when I start I look it over and words just flow many phantoms I think your brain sees the pattern and thinks the whole word is there.
yeah I think so too. Ok, I am off for today. *hugs* to you all. And crossy, good luck with the exams!
Have a supercalifragilisticexpialidotious day ((hugs))
Good morning
There is our sukee! Slept in?
Hi kids.
A little, I was also caught up reading about the Oscars on Facebook.
scrabby!
Hi crossy, scrab
scrab, how cold where you are? most schools closed again.. parent going crazy.
I have to go do sports physical exams at the local high school soon. Ugh.
The didn't close the schools here today, it's only -24C.
Zero degrees last I looked.
Most schools ar eopen but I see that some have closed, IVesy.
it was 1 above when i got up. it is now -5
It will get colder soon.
I am going to Holland High School this morning and it is open.
well our schools are closed, but library open.. which means we need to put on our long undies.. very cold in there.. old building.. no insulation.
Brrrr
I found an 8 by myself. tr8
wtg
I usually do not find anything bigger than a 6 without a clue.
I must get going. Enjoy the day.
Bye.
Hello everyone
Hi car
I'm off to make some breakfast.
*Waves to Car, in Brokeback Snow Mountain
Hey now!
:)
es
Just a play on your sore back and all the snow : D
good morning
Hello to you Molly and Annie!
hi car. and Molly :)
bbs
schools are all open here. minus 24c or minus 36 with the wind chill:) We are the first ones here though. I am a bit wired because of my exam today and wanted to be here earlier to go over my notes a bit
You will do great Crossy! Breathe in, breathe out.
<-------breathing....
Hi again.
Hello
stats for the center O please?
I have 2 of the o's
But I don't really know where they come from
oa5/10
and the plural
oc 4/5
ty...found the oc4
Ty Molly that is the one I needed.
There are two oa5/10
have the or5/12, no oa5's
oh well...have nbt and halfway. Time for sustenance.
Desert wet spot, singular and plural
Haters gonna hate, but you must admit this was spectacular.
http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/02/\nlady-gaga-oscars-watch/
ty...other half not ready for food yet.
She did a good job, and it was nice to see just her and not an elaborate costume.
If you want to get to that link, take the \n out
The gown was great. The gloves, not so much. She looked like she had just finished scrubbing toilets. : D
lol...didn't even notice the gloves
I've noticed that ever since Taylor Kinney, she has toned down her outrageous get ups.
Wow, how can you not notice startling red elbow length gloves?
huh...when I saw her she was all in white.
I only saw the 'Sound of Music' performance...didn'
didn't watch all of the Oscars
Oh, I get it now. She didn't wear the gloves when she performed.
WHOOP! found an 8! nbt/nbs
an8 should lead you to the other 8
what did you think of the host? I thought he was a little stiff.
I didn't see too much of Neil Patrick Harris. I saw a clip of his unfortunate comment about the woman whose son commit suicide.
didn't see that...thank goodness.
It was a joke. She had on this awful dress with furry little pom-poms hanging from it, and he said "it takes balls to wear a dress like that". Unfortunately, she had just finished making a moving comment about her son who commit suicide.
are both 8's ar?
The other 8 is tr
ty
got it
ouch
which movie won?
Birdman
never even heard of that one...I figured Selma would get it
I figured Boyhood.
I hadn't heard of that one either...don't go to movies.
The only one I saw was The Grand Budapest Hotel, it is on Netflix.
I've heard that was good.
So many people have quit going to the movies. I don't know how the industry stays afloat.
I live in a rural area...no theaters close by.
and we don't have good internet...so no netflix
Plenty of theaters near me. I don't enjoy the price, the volume or the theater full of rude people on their cell phones.
Well...I'm hungry even if he isn't. BBL

i resolved to go out every day, but the wind just gusted
It's not awful today.
i tried the recipe for the olive oil cookies, they are good if you have a dark chocolate lover.
relatively healthy
I am a dark chocolate lover.
It isn't too awful today; but I had to be out too often yesterday & I'm being abstinent today. ;-)
recipe in profile.
ty TO
Oil in cookies is not my favorite way to make them. Too greasy for me.
fw! anyone need clues b4 i boogie?
Got it!
They sound good, T.O. I'll pass this on to DH & see what he thinks.
wondered about the oil. not greasy at all. less so than butter recipes
(He's the baker in our house; I'm not fond of ovens)
parchment is needed because they do not generate oil
Olive oil is good for cooking, but I have not liked the taste of it in baking.
Olive oil is not usually greasy.
Maybe greasy was not the right word. But baked goods don't taste right to me with oil in them.
it goes well with chocolate. i also tried it in pound cake. should be using light, not extra virgin, but that is all i stock. goes well with chocolate.
It would be a different taste
in brownies as well
hego, doesn't the light kind lose most of its taste which is why it is recommended for frying/
I don't know TO, I always use the regular EVOO.
I'm not big on substitutions in baked goods. Some people rave about that brownie recipe with black beans in it. I tried it and thought it was awful.
did not use a mixer, did these by hand. easy
me too; I don't know what light olive oil would even taste like (more olivey?)
most brownies use oil. these are really brownies baked as cookies.
I see no requests. hagd! *poof*
less olivey Nef
bye, turq

i also tried chicken Italian sausage this week. tasted ok, did not like texture. like turkey better.

what i was trying even with your clue i ended up needing to use morewords but i had a better idea then almost none at all with your clue:)
Ummm, I *think* I understand what you said? ;-)
in other words both things helped me but your clue was a very big help to begin with
No need for a clue but is the ho7 a compound word?
Howdy, everyone:) Boy! was that exam tough!! it was not tough because of what was asked of me, rather it was tough because of the 2-hour time limit that was set for it:(
LOL! Thanks. :-)
hi crossy....glad you survived it...
wow cross..how do you think you did on it?
I knew all the material, but did not have time to get to it all:(
Did you get through the whole test crossy?
Bummer!
No, I did not, Nef:(
Seems I went into the exam with an 88% and the exam is worth a total of 30% of the entire course, so we shall see
do they grade you on what you did complete or is it an automatic fail cross?
My friend had a 6 hour test on hospital coding and she didn't make it through hers either. I often wonder who sets the time for tests?
I am not sure, MLF I think the teacher has some lattatude with that
i should hope so cross as i am sure you were not the only one to finish
I do not like that; you can know all the material, but still fail because of insane time limits
was this a final exam, crossy?
Yes, iit was pen
guess they dont want to pay the person who was giving out the test to stay for long?
they are usually stricter with finals...
Funny thing is i had more difficulty with assignments for A Scarlet Letter than I did with Othello:)
i think part of it is that they are training you to write succintly.
Must be it:(
pardon the misspelling.
we were often limited to one blue book or less.
But that is like failing a driver because they are not good at driving 100mph...
or a certain # of pages.
cross maybe that is good thing as shakespeare is usually hard for most people
how can some people write succinctly if it's a timed test?
Is Ho7 a compound word?
brb.. need a tea to help me decompress...
being ablte to get to the point is key to argumentative or factual writing.
sorry MLF, I don't have it yet
np nef
i do not know, nef. it does not seem contradictory to me, but i am a writier
owl where did you get your icon?
do not remember. i bought the product locally.
My brain often circles around an answer and then can be concise After I've thought about something a bit
its funny
BRB, crossy said "tea" & that sounds nice and warm; I need to make some...
i think i need to go run an errand. returning something at walmart; whatwas i thinking, buying produce there/
bad produce at walmart owl?
probably not worth it.
how much of it is bad?
always, fan. and the prices are not the best
hubby and i shop for groceries there almost everytime but it depends on what we need sometimes
not the same up here.
we have food lion here too
TO, those cookies in you profile sound relish. Off to make them!

Hello, Welki :-)
hi
fw
never could find that delicata squash, kje - i'm destined to be squashless.
hmmmm
Congrats, Kje!
I haven't seen them in a bit or I'd mail you one!
a nice thought, but it would never make it across the border. could be contraband squash, a smuggler's delight
hi again everyone. I'm trying to get organized; but that has "inspired DH to "organize his desk by piling satuff on mine! (don't you just LOVE it when that happens?)
What kind of squash is it, kje?
lol welki... could hide you a stash inside
delicata, nef
well, if it's in your pile, it's in your control - file away, nef! *gets the wastebasket ready*
Hmmm. I've never heard of it.
LOL, welki! I'll need a couple of them! :-D
love your opinion icon, welki!
thanks, pen :)
I just Googled it, Kje, I've seen them, but not lately. Are they more of a summer squash?
I must be off... work to be done (or maybe a nap on the floor if I don't find some caffeine)
hagd all
winter squash
the thing about the delicata is that you can eat the rind once cooked
Bye Kje.
I got them in fall through maybe november - so maybe getting too late?
yes, it is so easy compared to many winter squash
adios
possibly it is too late for it. Welki, I was googling images and I noticed that they were prepared with the skin on.
just another reason for a trip to the west coast
Very true. I forget, but are you in Alberta or Seskatchewan?
alberta, nef
Howdy!
hey, phan
How is your weather these days? I just saw pictures of my nephew on FB and they have flowers & are in their garden playing with their kids in the dirt (they live in BC.)
Hi phan! How are you?
Good, Nef? Our weather in the Mid Atlantic is cold, Incessantly cold!
I think we're all very sick of winter this year.
What is your weather like welki?
I am just thankful that I am not in New England!
Sorry, I didn't notice that your question was directed specifically at Welki.
today, it's lovely - above freezing. snow tomorrow, though not too much. march is our snowiest month and temps fluctuate drastically from now until may
the fluctuating temps are annoying!
heck, they fluctuate drastically from minute to minute here in the foothills
Me too. We had enough snow last year (but not as much as Boston has had this year). I think if we'd have had that much this year we'd consider moving (but not sure where)
it can be -30c in the morning, a chinook blows in and +8c at noon
phan, I wasn't just directing my question at welki, it's good to hear about yours too. But I also asked how You are doing these days. :-)
Phew, I didn't like the idea I was butting in on a conversation. lol.
LOL! Chog is for everyone, isn't it?
butting in? this is a public forum, impossible to butt in! *lol*
2 thumbs up!
Yep!
are the A words, normal?
(BTW, I do not like this grid. I keep entering the same words over & over again and they don't work - because they aren't words!)
some are, phan
I found 2...
I've only found 6 A words so far; I've been here on & off all afternoon I think
let me know if i can help
the a's are not too bad...
several are related to other a words...
good to know, penq. But they still are invisible to me (I see too many O's)
Thanks, pen! Right A black now!

Ba-dump. Psst!
Oh damn Harry, I need to go to the obtuse corner.
I could make a geometry joke about that too
100th word found! wahoo!
And I'll give you a bah-dum ching for that one : D
I went through my Ayn Rand phase...I thought everything she said was gospel. Until I found out about her insane personal life
SHe was very *interesting* wasn't she? And isn't it strange how everyone revered her
She really lashed out at Nathaniel Branden, and yet he continued to preach her philosophy
Pseudo intellectuals still enjoy quoting her.
I found a small book by her once called The Virtue of Selfishness or something...wacky stuff
"pseudo intellectual" pretty well describes me in my twenties
I started reading that book, but just didn't get it. Who knows, maybe I dodged a bullet. If she was around today, she would be encouraged to get over herself.
*Passes Harry a Carlos Castaneda book
hah!!! more drivel :)
Oh, there are so many people who need to get over themselves
*looking on the shelf for my copy of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance....oh....don't have one...*
Noam Chomsky
I am trying to get over myself.
Harry probably has a copy of Steal This Book too : P
I do!!!
It's tattered and dog eared :)
I knew it : D
as is my copy of "noone here gets out alive"
*Wonders what kind of bed time stories Harry reads to his kids
Dostoevsky
Crime and Punishment?
I had strange dreams after reading that one
Or my biography - The Idiot
Wow, no wonder therapists make so much per hour
LOL! Loks like I wandered off to start supper at the wrong time! ;-)
I'm stuck at 57. time to list
noam chomsky. i know his brother; i've danced with him.
wow! that's a random fact to throw out !
Is he like his brother, TO?
i'm sorry. i could have sworn he was mentioned in the talk of authors besides ayn rand.
he was. I just read it too
not something i am wont to just throw out in conversation.
Is Noam Chomsky's brother an author?!?
no
I'm going to finish preparing dinner; so will be back later
I'm wondering if he manufactured consent to dance? :D
fw! happy babbling, all.
au revoir
I recently reached nbt-5

hey penquis, I made it
hey!....how's it going?
good. computer problems so took a bit to get in
so it's not only me that can't get into Letter Lynx?
No, according to Facebook, most of the players can't get in anymore.
i tried emailing gabby, but got no response....
Random, mouffe, liz, nanachichi, boglady and gjswork can still play. That's about it.
i see nana here once in a great while.....not the others...
i have a new laptop...figured it had something to do with that...
I see angelinaxox is here right now, she goes back a long way!
the java is a newer version...
it's the java that's the problem
haven't seen her in a while.....she may play and not chat...
figured it was the java...
she's playing right now
lots of people play and don't chat...
are you in Florida?
that could be
are you on facebook?
i'm in florida for the winter. leaving in may
no, not on Facebook...hard to believe, i know, lol...

Back again. Boy, it sure helps to go to Lickety, doesn't it? I was down to 56 words left and they were invisible. Well, they are showing up now! :-)
wb!
thanks, pen. How are you doing with this grid?
i finished this afternoon....
good for you, penq.
been hanging around (knitting) in hopes of seeing an old internet friend, chica 15, and she showed up tonight...
Oh, fun! :-)
yes, we used to play Letter Lynx and Boggle before that....known each other close to 15 years, i think...but can't get into that game anymore....
i saw her at WordSplay recently and invited her here to chat and play...
Oh, wow! Have you ever met her in real life?
no....we just had a group of 8 or 10 people who played a boggle type competitive game together....
included one Canadian and one English woman....
I've known a number of internet friends for 10-15 years. I've met some of my nurse internet friends (we have a private chat board); a group of us went to Las Vegas in 2003 so I met a bunch then. But so far I've only met uusue here...
OH! I forgot! I've also met RoundBarn here too!
i used to work for an internet site as a site administrator....i did meet some of my fellow admin people in Las Vegas once....
Our nurse board has members from G.B., Canada, Austria, and Australia too.
cool....
we have had trouble logging into our old site, so I have not seen them in a long time...
I've met several nurses from a huge nursing site at different American Nurses Assoc. conventions through the years too.
have you figured out what the problem is? I once played an online roll-playing game that shut down and a bunch of the members were here; so that's how I found Babble.
cool....
it's a java problem....one needs an old version of java to use the game....
it's a java problem....one needs an old version of java to use the game....
so when people upgraded their computers, they were locked out...
Hi Nef--yes, we've met--I'm on here briefly--been gone ten days, a funeral--and ten days before that to Nevada, bok work. Some day we will have a volume 4 and that will finish the trilogy. I get back to work tomorrow. How goes it with your grandson? JJ
I don't even know what java is; I've heard of it, but never met it.
Hey RoundBArn how are you?!
it's a program that helps you play a game...
hi roundbarn....
RoundBArn they moved out at Christmas, so I'm lonely. But he's in kindergarten and it's so neat to watch him grow intellectually
penq; do Mac's have java?
Nef, worn out from being gone. Been struggling with the final Trever chapter, that involves Jerry--where we spenmt a pleasant afternoon. Those chapters have been the biggest stumbling block. I'm ok, my kids aren't so hot. But that's another story.
(((RoundBarn)))
don't know about Macs and Java....
I've written you several letters that never got mailed. DH has had health issues again; it's exhausting sometimes. But you know that
hi, penquis--I mostly lurk--but I watch you all, and you are one of my favorties. I love rururoccks with his dammits! I admire the work mlgricket (sp?) is doing with her Cit United group--I should contribute.
I really do have a box of books for you but when I was ready to mail it to you you said you were going out of town. Will you be around so I can mail it?
tyvm!...
hey penquis just scrolling back and saw you invited chica here to play, and haven't been able to get in there in a long time. i always leave babble open and go in and out, but mostly lurk while i am here
Nef I write you in my head. Why not come to Vermont? I still hve the cabin, against all odds.
Are you in Vermont now?
hi angel....yes, i guess not many can still get in.....java issue....saw Chic at WordSPlay and invited her to come here so we could chat more easily....
no, back in Spfld trying to get back to work. So if you wqant to send books, I'm here. Cress had her baby, in FRance, so I'm now a gr grandma--don't know if I'll get over to see him!
that's cool. wish i would i would have been in here. i sometimes get nana or squrell in here.
i miss playing gander though
yes, i have seen nana....
same here.... wordsplay is ok, but it's not the same..
RB, once you finish Volume 4 you should take a nice leisurely trip to see that great grandchild. To celebrate.
Nef, I was aware that Frank was having health issues again but didn't come out of lurkig--I don't get jere v often lately--I hope he's improving--
i don't think too many can still get in gander, hope someday it will work again
I fear that he's now on that gentle decline and will be in a wheelchair by the end of the year. But I hope that isn't how it goes.
i tried emailing gabby but got no response....
I am sorry. Give him a hug for me. Did I send you this year's Liberty (2014) with the Manet cover?
i never tried emailing, i just gave up. figured maybe someday would see a post on facebook that others who stopped being able to get in were able to again and then i'd try myself
understood....i gather chic has stayed in touch with others via Facebook....i have not....i do try every few months.... ;o)
I believe you did and I thoroughly enjoyed a couple of the poems! (I'm trying to get organized here and have cleaned off my desk (into a box!) so can't tell you which one made me laugh out loud! I remember reading it to Frank but he wasn't so impressed (he's not that fond of words and poetry).
that's where i mostly see everyone or play them in scramble with friends
ah yes....i have played that solo.....don't do Facebook....
read him the farm ones! This week is a letter from my dad to the government--I just put it into lines and labeled it tas season poem. It's sarcastic. Look up Illinois Times. No, it will be in next week. This week's is brief: GMO sounds like an STD/ well, isn't it?
sire
sires
I LOVE that! GMO Is an STD!
sorry.
Other box, RB! ;-)
ah ok, i play echo on there and she doesn't have facebook either. Are you on there as penquis?
i am not on Facebook at all....
i am on WordSplay as penquis....
You could have "clued a few words I don't have, you know. ;-)
she isn't on facebook either but has scramble
thought maybe you have scramble app
yes, i have scramble app....and ruzzle....as penquis....
if talking to me, Nef--I am so slow at this game and don't see the words--now Gillian, Rastapopolus, she knows every word but she lurks--just comes out to clarify a really strange word. I was just in Nevada with her and milked goats (in between book work)
if you need clues, nef....i am here....
i added ruzzle but haven't played there in a long time i couldn't remember my info to get in
RoundBarn, you do realize that I often put words in chat instead of into the grid, right? I did that earlier today too.
hah...i like ruzzle.....used to like another word game, but they changed it...
just tried finding you on scramble but wasn't able to do so
maybe that is Word Scramble?
is that the one that used to have maybe 100 people playing at the same time?
just looked, Nef and Penquis--then realized Rasta is in France with the first gr grandchild! So Eddy is home milking the goats. I wrotea milking goats poem for a couple weeks ago. Tell Frank it isn't poetry, it's just telling stpories in lines, in the space I'm allotted!
that was a different game with the same name, this one is like words with friends but based on boggle instead of scrabble
penquis, you are talking about so many games I've never even heard of! (I'm doing okay now that I opened Lickety)
a lot like ruzzle
i will have to look at word scramble again....i know i had it on my iTouch but it's no longer there...
ah ok
I will do that, RoundBarn. Sometimes he just doesn't relate to the turn of a phrase the way I do.
I was imagining you milking goats with 1 hand and trying to write with the other!
which one do you play, angel?.....word scramble or word scramble with Friends?
scramble with friends. i haved played words with friends but i prefer a boggle board to a scrabble board.
all those word games sound so intriguing--but I can't get involved or I'll never finish v4 much less clean my house. So I better sign off now, --well, after I tell you the goats are Pinon and Juniper and Juniper always has to go first or she'll break down the little barn. (I took notes in my head.) So I will sign off now and go dump my suitcase to find my toothbrush. Good night, dear Nef, and Penquis--and the rest of you that I watch.
Good Night Round Barn! Take care of yourself!
Good night RoundBarn
classic scramble with friends?....
g'nite roundbarn...
yes i think so
i am downloading it to try it out...
if i like it, i will put it on my iPad...
ok
penquis, just lookd at your profile--I'm in Vermont summers. But my siser is just over in New Brunswixk, she and her conductor husband run a big music festival in St Andrews every summer, all summer. In case you're close.
cool! i am not very close....i am in the midcoast....
But now I'm really going to bed. Thanks too, angelinxox.
g'nite!
Good night Round Barn
still here, nef?
yes, I am, penq. I'm down to 20 now. (I can actually find words now)
cool!
I thought you'd be off playing at all those other word games. Man; you guys sure know a lot of them!
lol...i don't play that many anymore....
i am actually knitting right now.....
What are you knitting?
i want to knit socks....but right now, i am just knitting a swatch to check the gauge...
I'm a lefty; and never learned how to knit when I was young. My Grandmother tried to teach me; but I was too backwards.
ah....i imagine that made it difficult...
OYears later; I discovered that if you want to teach a lefty how to knit; use a mirror
ah....interesting!
Could I get a clue for th6, please?
roof of straw, marc
I bought a couple of books on beginning knitting; I made some scarves; but no one wore them, so I gave up. Now my hands are arthritic; so not sure if I want to try again
ah...i have made a lot of scarves of different types and several hats....also one sweater years ago....
thanks got it
My daughter knits like crazy, mostly scarves and caps (for women going through chemo) and she's also made a lot of baby blankets too
just heard we are expecting 3-6 in. of snow on Wed. morning.....ugh....
nice....
Hi Marc. Are you nearly done?
i made a scarf for my neighbor last week and she shoveled out my car space yesterday for me... ;o)
Nice, penq! :-)
How much snow have you had so far, penq?
oh i am not sure....maybe 7 feet this winter....but some was early on and did not stay....
i think it's been a bit more....
I've heard so much about Boston that I forgot that Maine got plastered too
downeast maine has had much more....
they had to find another place to dump the snow in Portland because the piles were too high for the planes that use the jetport near there...
oh my! Where do they put it all?
they had another spot they could use to dump the snow....boston has trucks that melt the snow...
I keep thinking that it can't be dumped in the ocean.
we don't dump in the ocean anymore, i don't think....
I would think that dumping it in the ocean would be bad on several levels: fresh water would be decreased; increased pollution of the ocean; possible dilution in the area of where it was dumped; etc.
yes...there is a lot of dirt, salt, and lord knows what else in snow that is plowed from the roads....
yep.
what if the top layers were scraped off using snow ploughs and those clean layers were transported to areas experiencing water shortages? if the bottom 2 inches was left on the areas then most contaminents would be left behind
clearing areas like playing fields etc would then allow the snow from the roads and streets to be dumped there
jacq, snow plows run continuously during snow; plus traffic mixes the layers
a lot of stuff gets splattered in the snow....
it's 6 below here now....and going down....
Here in MN we do pile the snow in special areas; but there is no way that the snow is considered clean once it's been on the roada
i meant from other areas, not roads and streets, i'm pretty sure there are areas that could be relieved of some fresher snow to make ay for cleared snow. It's a problem we don't have here and never have had but i have read about the practices, it'sd extremely difficult now, with all the contaminents and the need to protect the local environment from further abuse
Wow, penq! It's 23 above (F) here and the wind chill brings it down to zero. You must be getting what we've had this past week
i think it is something that needs future planning, looking at how the jet stream is sitting, and staying, this might be the winters in your areas for the next few years
high tomorrow is supposed to be 12....not counting the wind chill....it's the coldest February we have had ever....in terms of consecutive very cold days....
jacq; the snow plows themselves can contaminate the snow. They've been full of road snow (and they usually are too busy plowing streets & roads and can't plow non-critical areas too
true Nef, didn't consider that
but you are right; this might be the norms in the future.
I'm guessing that Maine (where penq is) and MN don't have too much of a problem with drought. The areas that need more rain aren't getting this snow either.
no, we usually don't have trouble with drought...
we will have some trouble with flooding when all this starts to melt....
we hvae a different issue from you, in my own wee corner of scotland we have had no sitting snow this year or last, it has been exceptionally dry, some days -15C with the wind chill and the wind has just freeze dried the ground, that dryness will seriously affect the growth of a lot of crops this year
yep. And we have had trouble with floods when we've had too much snow too
not good to have all that contaminated water running into the rivers etc, it sets off the thing you are trying to avoid anyway
true....i live on the coast and the wind often helps dry out the water from the melting snow.....flooding is more likely in the rivers if the snow runoff happens all at once...
jacq; I grew up in NW Minnesota; it's very flat up there because it was under a huge Ice Age lake (Glacial Lake Agassiz) for thousands of years. SO with heavy snow up there, the Red River of the north (which flows north, from MN into Canada and then into Hudson Bay) and areas there often flooded every year.
But the "good" news from that was the soil was some of the richest in the whole northern US.
Why there would ever be a river that flows north in that frozen country is something I'll never know.
And this year that same area has very little snow, so it's biting cold - 35 below (F) with wind chills of 40 45 below (F). I moved south for the warmer climate! ;-)
heading out....g'nite nef, jacq and anyone else still here....
niters, penq. I'm heading out soon too!
