Hi all - hugs, Rose
{{hugs}} liz girl
Is your lower back still feeling so good?
absolutely. but i did a very small shop this afternoon. just into the store, picked up some fruit, and out again. and the nerve is driving me crazy. have had to resort to endone.
Happy about the back - endone is fine - good thing to take when you need it.
next tuesday is D for drug day. i am so looking forward to being pain-free.
i told my GP what doc john said about it. one pack of 20 tablets/month is not an addiction.
I know - that will be so wonderful for you. I hope that this one-off day works well for you.
thanx hin. i will be on-line if i'm not drugged to the gills. so will be able to clue you in on what is happening.
Will read it avidly. Will become a rose-follower - like on twitter, not that I use that!
*!* ta da *!*
Strange word, the w8!
Congrats, Nan
WTG NAN!!!
crashing here -- good night everyone
sweet dreams nan
Sleep well.
so what have you been up to today liz?
Grrrr! Getting someone in to look at the pool - pool fencing has to be in place by November and ours is not straightforward and will be very expensive.
Apart from that, not enjoying the humidity!
So, as you might've guessed, my mood is not sunny right now!
Sorry for that little outburst!
Not finding the 7 letter word. Help pls?
Missing that and a 6.
hu7, go fast, past tense
a 6 off the h?
Duh! I convinced myself that wasn't in the grid and didn't try it!
Thanks. No an i
ir6, add In Charge to ir4
keep going up
Thanks again and that's me finished.
WTG LIZ GIRL!!!!
Would love to chat but need to go and set the table for shabbat etc. etc.
Thanks Rose. Hugs to you and to sprite, when you see her.
np's liz. enjoy the rest of your evening. xoxox
she sent hugs back last night
whee, teensy fireworks for me - hi and bye, all! :D
good m orning all
rose, my darling... twice in one week??? I mean REALLY! Let me talk you through the laundry rules once more...
{{hugs} my dearest sprite. col. it's NOT my fault.
Then who is to blame? Dear God I still miss FMitch :(
we are about to have dinner. we were waiting for son to pick up the car, then he texted us to say something came up, can he do it tomorrow?
awww sorry dear, did i bring back a bad memory?
I would SO have sold the car twice over. If there is no enthusiasm at the receiving side, why on earth bother at all?
no darling, thinking of FM is never a bad memory. She was an absolutely wonderful person, kind and smart and witty and giving. And back in da days, we would blame her for everything. Too small a grid? Blame FM. It was a running gag.
i did mean a memory of her passing. i only knew her briefly.
sorry hin. i'll bbs. timer just went off. xoxox
yeah, death is a bitch. Years can go by and all of a sudden, it hurts all over again to be missing someone. But I always think, that kind of pain is a good thing. Means I cared. Truly. Most important thing in life, right?
enjoy your dinner, my friend :D
and back. yes you are right. it's like when i remember Robyn. sometimes i'm okay, and others i completely lose it.
yeah, it hurts so much, I know. *hugs* For me, it is with Jom. Some days, it is a soft and warm memory. Other days, it cuts right through my heart that she is gone... and cannot see the kids grow up... knowing how much she would have enjoyed this. Death is a true bitch.
btw, i got rather nice surprise in the mail today.
btw, i got rather nice surprise in the mail today.
nice surprises are awesome. What was it?
and good grief, rose, you must have inhaled your dinner?
a payslip from my former employer for 27 weeks pay.
now i am caught between a rock and a hard place.
well finally! The asses. About freakin' time, rose. Lovely... spend it on something truly you.
oh... why is that? They owed you your pay, right?
because i have to notify social services. and i don't know if tomorrow's IME will say whether or not i am employable.
can your lawyer advice you on this?
yeah, i emailed him this afternoon. waiting, of course.
sigh Ikr... they don't realise how much stress it is for you
of course they do....that's why they are playing this game.
ummm I meant the people at your lawyer's. The asses from work and workcover know, of course.
yay, found both 8s without help. Two left columns and last column greyed out now.
well done. it really is a nice little grid
yeah, my only complaint is the size. Am enjoying myself.
good for you.
ugh... my day just became fuller. Caya asks me to mop the floor of her room and find the pillow Cobi likes best. Caya did a great job of preparing her room for Cobi but ran out of time.
hey, just realised... tomorrow's IME? THey work on saturday?
poor you, sprite.
yeah it is a lot today. More than I had planned. But on the plus side, I did the shopping yesterday, I don't have to walk Terra because he is out camping with Rob, and I got the dishwasher emptied and the soup on the stove already.
apparently, sprite. and it is nearly an hours drive from home, and that is using the freeways. gosh those twerps at workcover have a very nasty streak. the appointment is at 9am. take a stab at what time i have to haul my butt out of the bed.
Hello ladies :-)
Did you see any of the eclipse this morning, Sprite?
{{zooz}}
rose, they are true assholes. No trick is too low to get you to break. But they won't succeed. They totally underestimate your power and strength and stubbornness. You were trained in withstanding manipulation by a master.
hello zooz, dear man! *hugs* How are you doing? Yes, I could see the eclipse. Not as spectacular as a full one, but still impressive.
I saw a full one in France. That was truly breathtaking. Did you notice how intensely quiet it becomes during the eclipse? Like nature holds its breath.
Yes and it also goes a lot colder too!
the best one i saw was here in 1999..that one was a total and amazing!
yes! And with a full one, zooz, you see a huge, huge shadow running towards you, over you, and then the sun starts coming back. That was the most awe-inspiring thing I ever witnessed, except for the birth of our kids.
yeah, we traveled to france to see that one, zooz. Worth it too.
I foud that bit...a bit scary when the shadow rushes over you..lol
yeah, it is. Humbling experience. Mother Nature in full force.
Sorry to have broken up the convo, Rose..But was a bit excited over the eclipse..Need to get going..Take care both of you.
Good morning all.
And I will guess you have to be up for around 5am, Rose.
Bye for now!
you never break up a convo, zooz, you just take part in it and we welcome you very much.
bye for now :) *hugs*
{{zooz}}
hah, middle column greyed out as well. Only 4th left now.
Was reading the National Geographic page on Facebook about the eclipse, would have loved to have seen it.
I think it is a nasty trick to make you travel that far and that early. Make sure you bring a cane, limp, stoop a little and make them repeat every 3rd sentence because you cannot concentrate because of the pain.
It is hilarious the number of people on that page getting all religious and superstitious about it. I thought we had passed being afraid of natural occurrences.
hi sukee! Yeah, it is something. I hope you will have a chance to see one one day.
good advice, sprite
well... I can kinda understand it. It is truly awe-inspiring, sukee. A primitive part in all of us reacts to it. Not just people, animals too. All go so very very quiet. It is intense.
Oh, and welcome to spring :)
it is contrary to your nature, rose, I know. We tend to keep a stiff upper lip, clamp our jaws and hide our pain. But that is counterproductive with assholes like this.
yeah, tomorrow for us! Lovely. Am enjoying it intensely this year.
It is going to be a cold weekend but next week looks better.
am gonna look into glass plates for over my veggie boxes-on-tables. Then I am gonna sow my veggies under glass, give them every chance to... um... start to grow. Don't know the word.
Yay, blacked out the last column, all 4 of them :)
lol, good job, sukee!

fireflies
WTG SPRITE!!!
"fireflies does not exist in this puzzle" LOL
wtg
thank you :)
sprite, can you stay and chat a while?
ugh, now I should get a move on and start getting stuff done. Don't wanna, though
yeah sure, if you want me to, rose
before i started on the tegretol, i was having a itchy episode of the FM. since i started the general itchiness has settled into two areas on either side of my tummy
both patches are very hot too touch, the itchiness stops if i take an anti-histamine. the " rash " is very localised. not at all like what has happened before.
question...do you think it might be cellulitis brought on by my scratching?
how odd. Glad the itchiness is down, but those patches should heal up now as well.
yeah, could be. If at all possible, stop scratching and see if it calms down some.
do you drink enough water over the day?
trying to resist as much as possible. i thought to not take the tegretol for a couple of nights and see if the patches resolve.
i checked with the chemist. he said i could stop as i was on it for nerve pain, not epilepsy.
yeah, but the tegretol is giving you back your life. Don't think you want to stop it at all. Maybe just give it time, or lower the dose for a week and let it heal.
wearing cotton gloves during the night might help prevent scratching
okay, thanx sprite. i will have to wait until monday to see my GP. if it gets worse i will have to go to the emergency room.
Can I just have a small hind on the Zs, I can't see any.
hint that is
have you tried cooling it? Cotton tea towel over it, then a cooling pad.
sukee, it is a metal, and it's past tense
sukee, think metals
TY, now I see it right away :)
yup, sprite. have been doing that.
just when you think that C is mostly ornamental...
I keep missing obvious Z words :)
ok rose. And you do drink enough water over the day?
yes, sprite. i drink a glass with each meal, and the 'snack times' in between. so 6 glasses everyday.
this is what I think: you have been under severe stress for a very long time. The tegretol is making so much difference, helps you relax, makes you sleep, eases your pain. Your body and mind are reacting by letting go of all those stress poisons. Inflammation is typical for anger related poisons.
ok darling. You might want to drink extra for a while. Help your body clean out the trash.
aahhh, that makes sense.
good morning, Ladies!
hiya dawg! Good morning to you too.
Hi lbd
g'day lbdawg
hiya, Sukee
hi Sprite and cooee Rose
8 letter words down.
good job!
ok, I have to go, so sorry. *hugs*

{{hugs}} sprite. xoxox

Hi crossy.
1 to go
And fireworks!
yaaa for sukee!
I hope tomorrow is a biggie :)
Both had me struggling but when I found them they were so obvious.
Take care.
I keep petitioning Dr_G for a secondary, weekly 10x10 1000-5000 word grid that we can turn to for days just like today:)
wouldn't that be fun!
I think so; something with a 7 day time limit:)
i'd sign the petition!
there is room if you get rid of that friends of babble portion at the bottom of the screen
or a link at the top maybe?
yes, there will have to be a link or button of some sort so you can bounce between the daily and weekly puzzles at will
I would even pay a second subscription for that
me too.
Imagine some 7500 word monster, but you have a week to do it:)
whooo hoooo, SUKEE!!
could i have a clue for the wh8 pls?
rhymes with worried rolin :)
ty,...very strange word
Could I get the stats on the two 8's, please?
wh 8/70 and I do not have the other just yet
got it thanks
Just got the second 8.... in8
got it thanks
np
And now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!!!... Seems we are to have a solar eclipse today! Those who will have the best view are in the U.K and Norway, with North america being the 3rd best locale..assuming there is not a ton of cloud cover. So, remember the rules for eyes safety and go see if you can spot the eclipse. Google for best times as it is to happen before noon in most areas.
Crud....we're cloudy/rainy again today. Hope someone see it!
Paris will be 10;30 am local time
mm, looking at the area of totality map, and we will only get a partial here in North america. U.K and parts of Europe will have best view
What are the stats for the two z's, please?
zi 4/10 and 6/39
thanks got them both
Aren't you suppose to stay inside for a solar eclipse?
You can go outside and view it as long as you use a mirrored viewing box or the old standby of a pinhole in a bit of cardboard to view the event
The event is not long, so being outside is ok
just googel safe ways to watch a sloar eclipe and you will get sevral options... though i think our viewing window has passed in north america
thanks, could I get the stats for the other 'h' in top left corner? I have the ho4/6?
add a vowel to the time segment, marc
good morning, babblers

wow so simple, how did I miss that!!!! Thanks Annie. FW !!1
congrats, chubby !!!!
Im on my way out...bye
good morning all
howdy teavh
Easy board today
Yes, i am trying to make it last. there are only a few odd words
I petitioned Dr G once again for a 10x10 weekly grid . Something with 1000 to 10,000 words;)
I think it is the perfect evolution for this old word game;)
clues for the i in fourth row?
ir4/5
and IR 6/24
thx, found the 4, looking for the 6
and ir6/24
ir plus your drivers' license is your **
I'd love to see an updated word DB :)
add an ending to the ir4
Good day kiddos!
IR 6 - adjective form of IR 4
lol, Enable kind of grows on you. it is like a crippled, handicapped old pet that you love despite its disabilities:)
Howdy, Scrabby

Howdy, Aloy

congrats phaeton
Silly Crossy.
Congrats Phaeton. I am 47 words behind you.
had to go out and howl at the sun:)
is there anyone out there that could update enable?
we have clouds today...can't see the sun
I doubt Dr g is generating enough revenue with babble as it is right now to bother tinkering with it.
So, I gave him my brilliant idea. we shall see if he bites:)
What is your brilliant idea?
If he opens it up to upgrade it, then we could ask for a new dictionary
a weekly 10x10 grid in addition to the daily grid, scrabby
Fun! 1000+ words!
yup!!
that way when the daily one is small, you can bounce over to the weekly
Awesome idea Crossy!!
i would breath new life into babble, and give drg some income
it*
for a 7 day grid, I figure 1000- 5000 words in total
The old Babble server would be humming non-stop!
Did Dr G like the idea, Crossy?
I am awaiting his thoughts on this as we speak.
Help with wh8 please? Is it a continuation of wh5?
I broached this idea to him a few years ago but did not receive a repy
yes, it is pt
just add a vowel
Ah, got it now. TY.

what does the other 8 start with, please?

The suspense is killing me.
I usually do mine myself with a package. at the end it said see a tax professional.
interesting
That's 'cuz i screwed up during the year, and it caught it. So I have an idea of what's coming.
I have no interest in doing my own any more.

Hang in there DC...I'll keep lifting you up

Trying to think of a clue ... bear with me.
Wh8 is an extension of the which before it.
It means to go swiftly.

In 8 ... means to be arrested for a crime .
sounds like the word for "concerned oneself over", only spelled differently

Hi, granny rose. I missed your g'day a while ago. I logged out to go watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune!
hey ya diane.
":-)
I never get fireworks, and tonight I have 5 left. A clue please for the f? I have the number.
fi4/8, fi + a **ntury is 100
f ....frozen water
got it! thank you. now the r in the 2nd column--I have two of the three.
past tense of ri4/5, ri6/24
i have the peeling, and peeled--
how about ri4/5, on a horse
it's the 5 I don't have--
roundbarn ri4, to be on a horse
got that, granny--it's the ri5 unless there's a rh--
roundbarn isn't your r greyed?
ficen
wait--there are only 3 r's--sorry to be so dense. of the three I have left, I have 15 of the `17 w's, so that's going to be harder to find. I think I have all the baton twirling ones
wh x 9, wi x 8
wh4/10. w + shielded from view
and two complainers, and not caring a wh4, and he's a wh4 at math, and eyes open wide and then wi5--sorry, said it--and then the breeze and when you run too far you are wi6 and you drink wi4 and are wi5 and dined, and that's all I have.
wh4/9. w + h**t, clue
do you have the wh 8/70, RoundBarn?
It sounds like being concerned or fretting over something.
yes, I think it's the h**t clue I'm ni ot getting--I have only a 4 and 5 left to go
okay, wh + not out
list of wh's runs thus...wh 4, 4, 5, 6, 4, 5, 8, 4, 4
and wh + ego's partner
that's it! now all that's keft is one d and it has to be 5 letters. II have a strange dw that's a 5
past tense of to cut up small?
d + fermented grapes ?
Oh....just saw you have that !!
what an easy one to miss! Thank you, thank you. I am seeing fireworks for the 2nd time since I began playing this game long ago. Usually I get about half way. Mostly I lurk, but get to know you all pretty well. Thank you again!!!
It HAS to be what grannyrose said :-)
WTG ROUNDBARN!!!!
it was the cut up small one that was the final one. the sw's I should look up, see what they mean.
I lurk a lot too.... and I know people's personalities more than they know mine...... not fair, right ? LOL
true! I sent crossy a book once, and I've met Nef in Minneapolis, so I know a few of you, and I watch Scrabble out in the snow and her rabbits--I had house rabbits once--etc. I have a couple of neat websites. look up roundbarnstories.com. And my daughter is making me a blog as if it's me, I hear it's interesting. And my other daughter Rasta lurks, and only comes out to clue a word nobody is getting--she is our supreme word person-- what can you say about yourself, diane? I do watch grannyrose--
I've been finished for a while, but waited to witness your fireworks, RoundBarn! Now I'm off to watch a movie with hubby! Good night to most, and to grannyrose, enjoy the rest of your day!
thank you, diane. I'm off to bed myself, have to finish inc tax tomorrow. so goodnight and thank you for waiting up for me, both of you.
I have read one of your blogs about how your books came to be. I know that I would enjoy your books....I grew up on a farm on the prairies of Alberta and many of your stories would parallel mine!
I bet there was a good bit of discussion about ho5
my email is jjack1@uis.edu, send me an address and who you are--have I even looked at your profile? and I'll send you a book.
not everybody knows what houri is--unless art or greek major, doug--
sorry--too late for the PB--I better get to bed.
I also watched an interview with you....enjoyed it
good night..... we'll talk again :-)
well, fun! then you know me better'n I know you! goodnight.
night, grannyrose !! and gone ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
sweet dreams diane
Also in Quran 52:20 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed *****s. (Arberry translation)
doug, I really am leaving now--but see I'm wrong--it's muslim. I was thinking of the maiden-columns who hold up greek temples. Well, my greek is old. thanks for your remark. I wasn't on the game all day so if there was discussion, I missed it. goodnight.
It's not a common word in grids, is it?
