sweet dreams flosey, dear
good morning all
yo! Cooooooeeeeeeeee roseeeeeee! How lovely to read your infusion worked as it should, and that your doc is gonna do this every 2 weeks!
Hi and hugs sprite and rose :)
Hi all:)
hi Liz! *hugs* How was your day?
That was really good news for Rose, I agree.
Good thanks - just back from gym so will shower in a minute but wanted to say hi.
How was your evening?
night even?
hi :D It is always lovely to see you. Did you have fun in the gym?
No! I go because it's good for me! Def not a gym junkie as Rose suggested!!!! LOL
my night was ok! First time since new diet regime that I slept well. And a bit more energy today as well.
That's good. don't overdo it.
lol! I like it, tbh. Not a junkie, but it is enjoyable for me.
I've never really enjoyed doing exercise - feel OK after it. I do enjoy our beach walks though.
Especially at this time of year - no humidity at all.
ah, but walking, especially in a brisk pace, is the best exercise of all. Or so I have heard.
It's great with your feet in the ocean :)
sounds awesome :)
and no, won't overdo it... dietician wants me to try a carbfree diet, see if we can trick my body into burning fat at last. It is normal to be pooped the first few days.
Time for shower - catch you later or tomorrow. Have a good day.
enjoy your shower! *hugs* for you both.
Yes, i saw that. I hope that it's well monitored. Hugs to you and to Rose.
{{hugs}}sprite
ah, there she is. *hugs* my darling
1:37 amspriteProfileNetherlands yo! Cooooooeeeeeeeee roseeeeeee! How lovely to read your infusion worked as it should, and that your doc is gonna do this every 2 weeks!
hello honey. sorry i missed your grand entrance....lol.
hehehe... copy/pasted my message to you... from wayyyyy before... lol
i have a terrible habit of walking off and something else while waiting for you. i try to check every couple of minutes but i was side-tracked.
i hope liz isn't too cross with me for what i called her. it was only in fun....
*giggles* Rose, darling, it is all good. We know how you are when a squirrel goes by :D
don't be silly, silly. Of course she isn't. She took it in good fun too.
well you are close, not the squirrel this time, but my afternoon snack of rice crackers and NUTS.....
jeezz rose! It is so wrong to eat an afternoon snack of rice crackers while being occupied with his nuts.
sprite, this time the infusion worked so well. i was in cloud cuckoo land all day......lolol
It was funny Rose!
Just here for a minute - time for my post gym snack too.
hehehe... see?
bless you liz dear. thanx. i have a very warped sense of humour and sometimes it misfires.
I had this vision of me in spandex etc! Not a good vision at all.
liz, you are well away from these storms dear?
lol! You'd look great in spandex, Liz. Never doubt it.
Yes, well away. It's beautiful here but cold at night now - down to 11 C last night. Trackies came out for the first time.
aha....now i know what to get you for your birthday....lol...it will probably be more a pressie for Peter.
Did you know you needed your eyes testing sprite?
lol, 11 C is cold?
Well, yes, a drop from 18 to 11 C makes it cold.
new glasses a little over a year ago... so no... perfect vision here. You are one beautiful woman.
ah yes, that definitely feels very cold
You are really sweet but misguided!
so, rose... you done multitasking now?
*grope, grope* nuh.
nah. I have seen you, Liz. You are bee-ootifool!
Hugs sprite for the confidence booster - however misguided.
it isn't the groping that worries me. 'Tis the scrunching and chewing.
not misguided at all, and hugs back :)
Time for crisp bread and smoked salmon - yum! Hugs to you both.
omg yummy!
yeah, don, you done scrunching and chewing? sprite doesn't like it.
what? It is don who is having the snack while you are at his nuts? Ok, I hate to tell you this, darling... but you are doing something wrong!
roflolol.....the mind does boggle doesn't it?
very much so, lol
sprite, it was so nice to lie in bed this morning and enjoy feeling nothing but relaxation.
I am so happy for you, rose. As I said before, also so great that doc is gonna do this every 2 weeks now.
i have the occupational rehab report here. no wonder my GP has flipped her lid. she wants to see me about it. even quoting the IME report which says i am not medically fit to work, this bozo has gone ahead and suggested five jobs i am qualified to do. well, duh!
lol are they crazy?
i am qualified, just not medically fit enough to do them. jeez louise...
of courrse you are qualified. That was never the question. It ain't your skills that are keeping you from working. It is the damaged body.
what kind of jobs did he think you could do?
ah, well. it is four weeks since i saw their last occupational physician. i am going to ring my case worker tomorrow and ask for a copy of it.
good idea. And inform your lawyer too.
she suggests a medical typist, customer service officer, medical receptionist, administration officer, and a filing or registry clerk.
all bar the first suggestion are going to involve walking etc.
ok she is totally out of it. Med. typist would require long stretches of sitting. Med receptionist too, or standing which would be worse. Administration is sitting work as well. And a filing clerk... is she nuts? That means lifting, bending, getting back upright, walking, etc.
not sure of the word. But can you appeal this assessment?
she was just doing her job. she did say to me that i am under no obligation to accept any of these. sprite, love. my lawyer will have it laughed out of court.
ok, then it's ok. I was worried for a bit. Here, you are obliged to follow the recommendations of the occupational whatsit.
she comes well below a doctor. and i still need a doctor specialist in occupational medicine to clear me to work.
ah ok. Here, you first go to a doctor who has to decide which kind of movements and stances etc you can and cannot do. Then the report goes to the occupational hazard who decides which jobs go with that. And then it is a bit of calculation... will save you the details... but that is how they decide if you get a benefit and how much.
sprite, i have hypertension, high cholesterol levels, arthritis in every joint, heart failure, ischaemic heart disease, angina, and the cherry on top, fibromyalgia. who would hire me, knowing that i could collapse in the middle of the workplace?
and if i have to go out to work, then i cannot take some of my meds when i need to, in the morning, because i may well have an accident on the way to work.
*hugs rose* I know, sweetie, I know. But I also know how crazy some of the assessors can be.
it is so FRUSTRATING!!!!!
ikr! All it would take is 5 minutes in your body and shoes. Just 5 minutes. And they would apologise, take you home and make sure you have every amenity (sp) you could wish for
it would be different if i had come to the conclusion myself about whether i should work or not. it was the way i was sacked with no empathy at all.
yes, exactly. And all the damage THAT has done to you. How much stress that gave you, which led to worse symptoms and increased FM.
fireflies
WTG SPRITE!!!
you know, if the workcover agent had only acknowedged i needed help with the FM right back then, i may still be at work, and they would have saved thousadns and thousands of dollars.
rose, even if they had taken you seriously and let you decide what you could and couldn't do. You were so willing. And so knowledgeable too.
ah well, maybe i can get a job with them informing their staff what patients actually can go through. now wouldn't that be funny??
roflollllll
i think i will suggest it to my case worker...right after i give him a valium...
lol. You need to get your lawyer involved, I think. This is too crazy for normal people.
what's on for today, sprite?
am taking Caya to her theory exam for her driving license. And a spot of translating in the afternoon, and a walk with terra.
well that's doable, is it not? is Caya feeling better?
better than when?
yeah it is doable. Not easy on so little energy, but doable.
ummm was she not feeling terrific the ot5 day?
which is why she is doing the test today instead of the ot5 day?
she needs a long holiday, that's for sure. But otherwise, she is doing quite well.
Today, I go for my redundancy meeting. Not a great sign that the first word I spot on the grid is spelled out on the bottom row...
*hugs matty*
okay, i was a little concerned for her. there is so much happening inher body at the moment over which she has no control. poor kid!!
*giggle* poor matty.
ain't that the truth! But she is handling it pretty well. Some days, she llikes to cuddle up in bed with a book after she is done with homework and chores and work. I tell her that is very healthy.
good for her, sprite. nurturing herself is a good step towards caring about herself.
absolutely. Also, she is eating well and varied. And she dipdyed her hair a lovely shade of blue/green. She does good things for herself.
you've done well with her, sprite.
awww what a sweet thing to say. I guess we did ok. And we had good material to work with too.
all the good things in the mix is a recipe for success.
school called about tim yesterday. To check if we knew he was in the danger zone with his grades. We knew. He took two exams again and scored better. He is out the danger zone right now, but it is still iffy. A lot rides on how he will take the central exam for Dutch.
ugh.... what to do with a boy called Tiiii~~~im?
*giggles* Funny thing is, his mentor said what we all say... Tim will get there... he just has to learn a few things about putting in effort in time. But otherwise, a lovely boy, a charmer, and wicked smart.
i wonder where i have heard those words before?? hmmmmm. oh yes scene v act iii daniel in his final year of secondary svhool. *sigh*
lol :D Boys will be boys... tim can be a handful. But the same tim gave me a hug yesterday and told me he thinks I am doing great with the new diet. Out of the blue. That was awesome :D
ALL of his reports request that he put in m ore effort. he kept saying, why, i know how to do it? why do i have to prove it? i was practially bald by the time he finished.
aw how sweet of him!!
ugh exactly. It is a handicap of most wicked smart boys, I think. They do know how to do stuff. They just don't know how to conform to general demands.
ok sweetie, I have to go. Time to get my girl at the exam site. *hugs* and enjoy your painfree sleep!
{{hugs}} to a special friend. xoxox
dinner ready. bbl. xoxox
crossy??
(((rose)))
seain?
Just getting going here:)
dianne??
aha...{{crossy}}
:))
how is my mate?
06:17 here, and the bird song outside my window is so nice;) it is still a novelty at this point:)
enjoy, crossy. it is after 8pm here. it's cold and damp outside.
I am doing well. Money tight as many are, but I fill my life with new and interesting experiences and try to learn a new and interesting thing each day, and that is the greater coin:)
as with many*
exactly, crossy. btw...i have nearly finished brideshead revisited.
unfortunately, especially after my infusion, i fall asleep very easily.
Cool. Have never read t. Right now I am back with one of the classics by H.G Wells. I find i revert to the classics when i need pause between regular reads
i am revelling in being in no pain.
Ahh yes, Today was infusion day no?
next, i have edna o'brien's saints and sinners ready... and yes,,,today was not...yesterday was infusion day.
I am debating whether or not to wade into the game of thrones saga
With a series that size, it it not just a read, it is an investment
too many classics to wade into, mate. leave that junk where it is.
I can often take 2 or 3 days to decide my next read, so they serve their purpose by filling the gap
game of thrones....fifty shades of grey....chuck them all where they belong. either into the re-cycling or the currently burning fire. not worth the waste of time to read.
my beloved grandmother said. dirt sticks in your mind forever. be selective in what you read..... and i am.
lol, Rose, I love your strong reading views:))
Of course i may revert to my bookshelf and revisit an old favorite
crossy, i want to live my life in the best possible way. i simply cannot see how literature like that can help me.
You are the only one I have met so far who did not have a good review of the G.O.T books
But if it rate on par with twilight and 50 shades, i shall give it a wide berth
Good day, kids. I have not read GoT.
I have been leaving it alone as well, Scrabby. was just waiting for the smoke to clear and to see what rises to the surface
I stay away from most bestsellers because many of them are junk--Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey, etc.
g'day scrabbs. and crossy, i am on the surface...lol
I have at least 20 books on my shelf to read and then 125 on my Amazon wish list!
crossy, i apologise. i would not think anything less of you if you read the books. it is my personal choice to not allow these books to affect me and the way i think.
My go back to the bookcase and read a few Arthur Haley novels. Where men were men, and women were women, and everyone was glad of it. Everyone smoked like fiends and the women leads were at redoubtable as a rock cliff face.
May
And there is Crossy's creative writing!
sorry for the 5 dollar words:)
Very emotive!
scrabbs, i have two plastic bags of books i found in the charity shops which i haven't read yet.
So many books and not enough time.
exactly scrabs. every time i visit the charity shops i find more.
One of his better ones is a novel called Hotel. Not because it forever alters writing as we know it, but because it give a perfect window on the social and racial inequalities of the time.
*roar* The high school bus just zoomed by. 6;38--so early for the kids.
I was sad when i did the math once and discover that, at most, all we shall be able to manage is approximately 10,000 books in our lifetime:(
Was that made into a movie, Crossy?
crossy, i once had the entire collection of the arthur haley books. i loved them
I do not know, scrabby. Many of his novels were.
I have about 10 of his novel in "dead tree book" format" as my son calls them lol
who wrote the runaway jury?
I have been reading nonstop since childhood. Some of my best memories were of sitting in the huge maple tr4 in the yard, reading books while I hid from the world.
John Grisham
Airport, of course, Hotel, Wheels, The Final Diagnosis, and several others
I also hid in books as a child:)
oh, scrabs. me also, only in the park opposite my home. i would climd to the top of a eucalypt tr4, and read in it's swaying branches, with my beloved dog lying patiently at the foot of it.
One summer I found discarded textbooks in the dumpster at the school and read math and English books, doing math problems. I was a nerd from an early age.
What a great memory, Rose!
ah yes Grisham...what a great author.
My guilty pleasure is Clive Cussler. So full of brio and testoserone that it almost drips off the pages. I always wonder what would happen if Clive and Danielle Steel ever met and fell in love? lol!
Would be like a low and high storm cell colliding over the water;)
oh, mine too, crossy
I used to read Grisham's books but stopped keeping up severa years ago.
I have not read Cussler, or Clancy, or Ludlum...yet.
Benchley is another of the old favs.
scrabs, you are in for a treat.
He is, of course known for jaws, but his novel Q clearance is a riot!
I have read some of Follett's early books--Jackdaws was great.
I think one babbler ordered a copy on my recommendation, but I forget now who it was..;(
I am reading Pillars of the Earth now, about 1/3 through the 973 pages.
I have tried Ludlum, but I just cannot get into his stories
i am still crawling through the old classic writers. have done the brontes etc.
and austin
qu6 anyone?
Historical fiction is my favorite category. I have my favorite authors--Pearl, Perez-Reverte, Liss, Ruiz-Zafon...
I have a qu6 with a vowel added to a 5
sug...qu6. qu + paintings + vowel
Once again I will give Biblio.com a plug for (in my opinion) being the best used book site out there that ships globally
ty got it
scrabs. how about e.v. timms?
I buy used books whenever possible.
9 times out of ten the shipping will be the cost of the book, but when you can get hard to find title for ten dollars or so, it is worth it.
mind you....all historical fiction relating to australian history.
New name for me, Rose.
I had to get another copy of dwon to the sunless sea By David graham as the last one I owned was read to tatters, but it was sadly out of print. i wanted a good quality hardcover of it, and Biblio found one for me:)
Down*
I do not know E.V Timms
learning for both of you....
e.v. timms mostly australian history.
Did I ever tell you, Rose, that I have a friend from Toowoomba, Queensland?
I mostly read fiction for pleasure when at home. I get too much reality elsewhere. Like i tell my beloved "If I want real life, i will open a window and stick my head outside!" lol
airt
Free clue!
ty scrabby. you give the best clues:)
Until 10 years ago or so I read nonfiction mostly. Now I read mostly historical fiction. I want to read some classics--Austen, Poe, etc.
scrabs, that is where my cousin lives.
My friend is 70 and came here long ago. She married a doctor here. They live in Oz for 3 months a year.
and scrabs....the classics will never let you down, honey.
I disliked the classics in middle and high school because we dissected them apart in English classes. I want to read them for pure enjoyment.
cro9ssy.... where are you with the grid? may i help you?
I keep all ove Poes works in the bookcase as well
and all of Sir doyles
I have been lax with the drid, rose. i must put some work into it yet:)
grid*
oh, yeah...we have sir arthur conandoyle's complete works.
75 to go and I am not seeing anything.
ugh... conan doyle ....
I love the great detective:)
scrabs..... what are you missing, honey?
'The games afoot, watson!"
The 7's, for a start.
c'mon yo'all. i didn't list until 20 something to go. please let me help.
I understand ht problem with having to dissect books, scrabby, I have read the scarlet letter once, and I can tell you that after the experience of doing that for a university course i will most likely never read it again:(
Rose, you are a Babble mater. I need more time to catch up to you:)
How I hated dissecting books--protagonist, antagonist, themes, plot, critical analysis. Maybe an author just writes a story!
master*
I read some and thing "there is no way that the bloody author was thinking of all that crap when he wrote it!"
I found re6 and re7.
think
Yes! Do authors really create these underlying metaphors and themes or just write a story with characters?
When i write a book, there is not deep, dark meaning. there is usually no earth shattering revelation that will change the course of history forever. Sometimes a story is just a story:)
Yes.
it is just like being born. i am sure Mrs. Einsten did not sit there and think "Today I am going to pump out one of the mental giants of the ages" No, she just had a kid:)
I follow Stephen Kings credo when he was asked why he writes what he writes. his answer was "What makes you think I have a choice?"
The brain is fascinating.
do6. d + h***, 24th of a day + vowel + consonant which starts 60 minutes. then plural for do7.
it is, The novel that I am working on now is 3/4 finished and I can tell you that i honestly have no idea at this point as to how it is going to end.
TY, Rose!
You go, Crossy!
That is why writer balk when asked to reveal an ending, because we sometimes honesty do not know.
sorry, folks. it was very hard to clue.
And I must now shower and get ready for work. Bye, Rose and Crossy. It was nice to talk with you!
I am woring on your clue now, rose...
got it, ty, rosie
tc scrabby
scrabs...i hope your day is good to you.
crossy...you are one amazing babbler. xoxox
lol. Mediocre at best.
crossy....not mediocre at all, mate
oh, dear.... waiting for for buttered popcorn.
mmm... popcorn... rosies got the muncies:))
munchies
nope, himself wants to test run the new popcorn maker...
My popcorn make is myself and a 50 year old copper stock put ;)
maker
pot
he runs a movie night every second friday at the church.
My keyboard is being feisty today
yeah.... but does it make good popcorn... lol
I always wanted a old style mobile popcorn make--the type with two great spoked wheels and the long pull handles and the glass sides so you can see it filling up with fresh popped corn
drooling unashamedly.
I tried a hot-air popper exactly once and it has been sitting under the counter ever since:(
himself is missing his fave show...
What show is that?
NCIS
I never miss a show anymore--crossy gots netflix;)
debating binge watching "24" sometime soon.
and we are passing a huge bowl of freshly popped popcorn, deluged with melted butter between us.
mmmmmm
with lots of evil salt I hope
interesting tidbit of the day: In the olden days popcorn war often deep fried in pork fat or other oils and just skimmed of the top as it popped.
nope...the butter is evilenough...lolol
Hi all and I hope that you're actually here this time, Rose :)
lool...yup, liz girl...have just finished off a bowl of popcorn...so yummy.
Can see you licking your lips :)
So happy that the infusion worked well.
Very nice Scotch in the grid today! Superstition 10 yr old.
Now i want popcorn for breakfast
oh, yeah, liz girl....just too yummy.
Bacon flavoured?
I have done popcorn on the stovetop with just a touch of rendered bacon grease
Now why doesn't that surprise me?? LOL!
Actuall, when used in moderation it works very well.
Have to admit, I prefer to 6 flavoured popcorn
stuffs butter-flavoured popcorn into crossy
Which is weird considering I usually prefer savoury stuff.
About two tbs of bacon grease in large pot and enough kernels to serve 4 people will impart just a hint of bacon flavour through the popped corn.
How did the interview go, Crossy?
WHAT??? no maple syrup??:?
Must head to class. T.c all and happy babbling. Wiil have babble time in class i think. the kids are doing 5 para structured essays and it is a nightmare!
Loooovvvve maple syrup.
have a good day
the decision is still pending, liz
Good luck
poink!
Why do I always have such problem spotting re 4/7 - as in great barrier. You'd think it'd leap out at me!
I don't know but I have the same problem with that word and several others.

Hi and hugs Ruby - how are you?
{{hugs}} my dear ruby.
Hi bichon too
I finally saw a different doctor yesterday and my pleurisy is down to one, very small but painful spot between high ribs. He is going to give me a cortisone shoe, right ther, next week. Aaargh.
shot, not shoe*
Aaaargh - definitely. But if it helps - well worth it for you to feel better again. It's been a long time.
et6/21. e + **orough + not yes + plural letter
I am sick of the constant pain and he thinks this will help, even if he has to repeat it from time to time.
Of course, his poking about left me really sore last night
Thanks, Rose - down to 6 left.
A shot in the ribs. That sounds very painful
between the ribs -- eek

He also said I was taking the wrong morphine, time released rather than immediate
hi, annie
His associate, who has been treating me, is not as good. I just liked going to a female MD
Sounds like you found a doctor that will help. Such a relief.
We'll know more in a week. At least he reassured me that I'm not dying (at least for the moment, LOL)

I am protesting the MO 5/12 today...silly, foreign word.
We do get some strange ones;)
clue for re 6 please
if it's the mo5/12 I have, it's a musical term
What sinners must do to get into heaven
re 6/21 = re6 sinners!
thanks, crossy
that's the one, uusue, but it is a silly word and other musical terms are not accepted. I'm all fired up today...so I protest!
and thanks to car.
no problem :-)
mo5/12, huh
bye babblers
Bye Annie! HAGD!
t.c , Annie
meanwhile I will complain about the ou5/12, which (unlike the mo5/12) I have never seen outside of Babble :-)
Here, here!
And why can one have entrailS but not entrail?
The nene sat majestically on the ou5 cwm.. why it is in print everywhere:))
LOL
I actually saw the nene in Hawaii....

Also protesting PE 5/12....

PL 6/24 please?
I wonder why I'm the only one who gets 'written up" for protesting about words or Enable
?
yeah.. me too.. Nan from Canada gets really snarky about enable
pl and a boatload of vowells
with a consonant on the end
sounds like a star cluster
Well, it's possible that no one is obsessed with Nan, or others. That's the way the ball bounces.
most likely
got, tyvm Harp!

OMG! a doren sighting
I love ruru joking around!
i do surface from time to time.
I always appreciate great wit and you have that special talent!
ruru is good for our endorphins!
thanks MP.. not everyone does.. but I'm happy for the ones that do. I try to be amusing at times
and wine recommendations, too
<---hoping to help someone's endorphins in my future :D
Haven't met her yet though :D
my mother sapped all my endorphins in the womb
oh....but it's not yet 12:00 so no wine yet...
no, you don't need to drink it yet MP, but he can suggest good ones to buy and drink when you will
hear ya' on those endorphins ruru...
Oh, it's fun to be amusing at times It almost makes me want to bust out in rhymes
ru, now that you're out there they'll be falling all over each other trying to snare you.
I probably should change my icon to a sunset when I do that
must have been my endorphins that made me say that, LOL
oh please doren get real
oh yes molly.. good idea
WE ♥ RURU (t-shirts on sale in the lobby)
I trap easy anyways doren
i predict you'll be snared within 6 months. (of course, you might not like the snarer, i make no promises on that)
not likely
but I'll be game to go through some trials :D
oh I'm sure you will
I'm hoping that whatever happens from here, it has nothing to do with snaring or trapping
yikes that sound painful...snaring and trapping...
oops sounds
I have to go outside and cut down some wild wisteria that threatens every other plant in the area. It's the bane of my existence, never flowers, but winds around and chokes out every bush or tree it can. Happy Babbles everyone
there are whole chunks of SF that is into snaring
just kill it doren
sending round-up to doren....
ruru...must be the drought
lol
*Imagines Dorens with a scythe and a shield, battling the wild wisteria (Sorry, didn't mean to sound like The Drama King)
oh. I have round up. and use it where I can, but I really don't want to kill other plants. It's kind of dicey, have gone up the hill with pieces of cardboard, or plastic, tarps, whatever and sort of draped things. But still. stometimes I just need to yank and cut as well as spray. today is yank andd cut
hmmm....visions of dorens yanking and cutting
Yank and cut sounds like a circumcision
2 left
yank sounds ok
vision of all men wincing!
:D
1
*<:o)
hey, I yank wisteria vines. Most mohels I've seen do no yanking, just cutting.
finished! see you all tonight!
oh gosh doren.. don't make a mountain out of a mohel
ROFL
uh huh. And with that, I'm arming myself ad going to do battle up on the hill. see you later
*Visions of bad circumcisions (you have to pull or yank before you cut, otherwise, what is the point?)
LOL
LOL
well gotta get going here....much work to do in my yard...have a great day!
bye mp.. I should get to work too
<that was a pretty good joke
yes it was fun...
bye
All done with joking. Back to the aches and pains symposium. Bye all.
ruru, you deserve another groan to add to your tally.. good one!
fw, hagd everyone!
lol@ "Mountain out of a mohel" Love it;)
LOL crossy. do you know what a mohel is?
A mohel (Hebrew: מוֹהֵל‎ [moˈhel], Ashkenazi pronunciation [ˈmɔɪ.É™l], plural: ×ž×•Ö¹×”Ö²×œÖ´×™× mohalim [mo.haˈlim], Aramaic: מוֹהֲלָ×‎ mohala, "circumciser") is a Jewish person trained in the practice of brit milah, the "covenant of circumcision."
there you go
google is a wonderful thing;)
You got it
I wonder what he's called in Arabic
Do not know but the justification, methodology seems to be different for each sect
this is what he is called in arabic: ختّان, الشخص الذي يقوم بالختان (تطهير روØÙŠ.. sadly, it does not hep us much:)
all thoses words for a guy who does one thing only
bbs
A mohel is either a rabbi or a doctor who is trained in doing a circumcision...not just one thing only.
aren't ther mohel who just do circumcisions only
I would guess that someone trained in enough Jewish law to perform a proper Bris does other things as well. But I'm not the Google search expert here so it's just a guess.
I think a cantor [singer of Jewish liturgy] can do it
hello everybody
ruby, you are a Member of the Tribe, what do you think about mohels
that sounds like backstory for Hedwig and the Angry Inch
I knew you'd know
I don't know much. My son was circumcised (against his gentile father's wishes) in the Carbondale Clinic the day he was born.
Is that your current husband?
I don't think they did a lot of those operations there
No no. My current husband is Jewish, sort of, in the sense that he was raised by wolves and knew nothing about being Jewish until he met me.
All his other wives were Gentiles
LOL, that's a good one
Wives?
Good afternoon, all. Or should I say "Shalom" ?
3 before me -- Bluebeard
hahah, judi, and hello.
Baruch Ha Shem
No Jews here!
<---Just the Irish Shiksa watching from the corner
Read back in chat to circumscision jokes. LOL!
LOL Molly
DIL is driving me a little batty (moi, btty?) wanting me to change the way I do everything.
e.g. Why are you cutting up the dogs' meat
But you have the upper hand there ruby?
Jeeze Ruby, you can't get away from house guests who wan to come in and reorganize your life
Mr. Bich is in trouble. He drove off before I could get my purse out of the car. No phone!!!
I just try to lip away (like Molly the shiksah in the corner)
slip* away
Why does she care how you feed your dogs?
I guess it must indicate how disorganized I appear
Good question
Uh oh, Bich. And Murphy's Law will dictate that he be the first person to try to call you.
Here he is
Today the gardener brought me a snake from the potager. it was a glass snake (he said) but I think it was a legless lizard I didn't let him kill it but it wasn't as pretty as most snakes as its scales weren't visible
Alas, I am no longer a daughter in law as of this morning. MIL passed away early this a.m. She was 92.
Was Mr. Bich in some kind of all fired hurry to get somewhere?
Aw, condolences to you and Mr. Judi
Ys, Judi, mine, too
Hi All!
hello hego
Judi, sorry to hear.
Ty, ty.
How is Mr. Judi handling this?
I just took a stab at pl6/24 -- guessing at the spelling and at whether it would be capitalized
He is okay, Molly. Given her age and declining overall health, it was not unexpected.
Yeah, it was the same with my parents, but it's still hard when they finally go.
It isn't till the dust settles that you really realize that they're gone.
Never easy to lose a parent, no matter what the circumstances.
true Judi
Mr. Bich was going to the gym. He is back now with my phone. No one had called me, so it was ok
Give him Hell.
Be he didn't even know he had it.
Well thank God your boyfriend didn't call while he had your phone
oh
that could be bad.
lol. That would have been awk-ward!
to say the least!
boyfriends
hahaha!
I vaguely remember that.....
what Ruby?
boyfriends lol
:)
Sorry Bich, was trying not to let the cat/cats out of the bag
or even the dogs
phantom: shmoo
:)
good morning/afternoon/evening, everyone
Hi Nan
good night everyone
Night Ruby
Poor Ruby. Nostalgic for the days when she had to go out to the stables to care for the studs.
bye ruby
I've been married so much of my life I can't remember either.
17 left. Gotta try to get some more work done. See ya, kids! *POOF*

wonderful Nan
pl 6 please?
Nan, you're always missing the same ones that I am.
figures !
right
OMG! pl + 3vowels and a cons.
Never saw it before.
ty - I have seen it - something to do with greek or roman architecture maybe? or history?
sounds good
nope way off base -- a group of 7 french poets from the 16th century. or any group of brilliant people especially if there are 7 in the group
looks like a word of greek origin, though, doesn't it
yes
I find it interesting with some of these students in the English class that i am helping out in. You try to guide them and get them pointed in the right direction with these essays, but at some point 90% of them develop a sense of fatalism--almost a deer-in-the-headlights thing as their due dates approach. It has now reached a point where they will not even come to me for a rough edit or even just to let me point out grammatical errors or readability issues. They are just ramming away till it is done, handing it in to the teacher, and skulking out of the classroom. They want it done so they no longer have to look at it, and will accept whatever mark that work merits:(
hello crossy
that's sad Crossy
they are probably hoping to get passing grade in spite of the lack of effort
There was probably less sweat and anguish when the great pyramid was built that what i am seeing in this group of student;(
Yes, that is true, sadly many are content with just the bare minimum to pass.
We have one that is back for the 3rd time for the exact same course
can't say we were any better in high school -- we had it all figured out that if you made steady improvement in your grades between Sept. and easter, you would be recommended through finals and not have to sit any exams at the end of the year.
Needless to say, we were very careful not to have any A's showing up until the 2nd semester!
She is content to keep coming back because that entitles her as a single parent to a govt cheque each month> I tell her to give it a few years and you and your son can be in the same class;/
same class as you*
lol - I don't think so, but nice to know nothing has changed!
Nope. They can play the system perfectly.
Sometimes you just have to sit back and let Darwin do his job.
True words, hego!
Mind you I did throw a wrench in things when I gave one particulary brilliant student (grade 5) a B instead of an A - based on amount of effort, not the actual grade (was supported by her father who was also a teacher)
cruel, but fair.
::sighs:: afternoon, babblers...
hi eva -- why the sigh
Hiya Eva
been a rough week. :/
and still 2 more to go.
true. but the roughness started last week, so ive already got a full 7 days under my belt...
The teacher I work with grades and sets due dates based on effort as well. You get no extentions if you have been messing around for the last week
*!* ta da *!*
She was going to give everyone till next Monday for this particular essay, but the ammount of fooling around made her move it to this friday since they have that much free time time to play around
I think many were shocked as they most likely planned to goof off all last week and this week and just cram for the entire weekend and had in a 55% paper
off for my walk -- up to 1/2 km now -- and no swelling in the knees afterwards -- may get to 1km by the end of next week!
very good!
hagd everyone
Bad knees can be such a misery
they are getting better - everyday is easier. Doc said it would be a year before everything was completely healed.

I just saw The Theory of Everything. Did not think I would like it but I did.
Hi, just doing a few words early afternoon. Lovely spring day here in the great Northwest.
hello, gmere.
Hi, TO. Hope you are well and enjoying your day.
Hello everybody. Just home from the most marvellous vacation with my daughter. I'm stunned at how an ordinary person like me could produce such a funny, intelligent, vivacious, beautiful person like Sarah. I'm well rested, sun-tanned, chilled out & very very happy!! (Take a screen shot, this is a rare occurrence.....lol
Hi Soods, long time no see
Hiya Bich 😄
The Queen Of The UK Saint Patrick's Day Parade is my new favorite person : D
Molly - you would just LOVE her.
I already do : )
I am so proud of all my kids.... But to realise that somebody I gave birth to is also a best friend is......special! I'm gutted to be back to 'normality', but, very very content!
You are blessed, no doubt about it.
I am so glad that you had a great time, Soolde.
Soodle, even
((soodle))
and still, shart is not a word! (hi all)
and "soften" hasn't appeared in the grid since I last tried it 5 hours ago.
nope!
*hangs around to get blessings too*
nbt
who is handing out blessings and how much to they cost?
depends on the church I think
*Sprinkles holy water in Ru's general direction
well, my church doesn't have 'em 8 - )
*sniffs*
*smells like holy vodka molly*
The Church Of The Unblessed
god, if there is a god, does not play favorites
No vodka in my house, that is the drink of choice for alcoholics : P
looks like water
Blessings is playing favorites?
A Lot of football players think god plays favorites
as in, "God bless America and nowhere else"
I don't think God bless America indicates "nowhere else". Just a request to bless a country.
well... that's because we don't spell Theatre right
a lot of football players have concussive brain injuries
<---thinks god bless America aims at covering the USA first
you have never seen the movie "head of State" i guess
<--agrees with that.
is that about Monica Lewinski BDG?
2 .. count em 2 doren sightings in ONE day
well, it's a comedy, so of course it reflects the real word (joke!), and the guy running for president keeps speechifying with "God bless America and nowhere else"
Doren....a woman of wisteria
oops mystery
Goes to the centre corner of the theatre and writes a cheque to the Bad American Spellers Club. So sad that we can't spell properly.
Murrican spelling iz the best!
LOL!!!!
we're going to get spanked for bad behaviour
You wish!
I think the English and Canadians are a little loose with their vowels... :D
Oh colour us the bad humour types
when i was born, near the street we lived on was a street called Wriothesley, pronounced . . . anyone care to guess?
HA Jaxx LOL
no idea bdg
Wursley
RIZZ-lee
Ever notice how those "our" words get the red squiggly lines from spell check?
hmmm
Ah, we Brits know how to confuse you all
righto!
done yet doren?
first thing i do when using word processor is turn off the auto-spell-check. it knows almost nothing useful!
It is our words that get the red wiggly line. Is your browser set on English? Mine is on English (US)
<---thinks they should change it to Unable
hear, Hear
everything in the US comes with english (US) as the default language, as afar as I know
I meant words with our at the end like humour
(Those "our" words)
it all goes back to your winning the Revolutionary War. Words like gotten are a purer form of old English than our got. being a country with no frills you got rid of all the unnecessary letters and made it easier for your kids to spell than ours.
Oh yeah, it definitely all goes back to that Revolutionary War thing.
yup!
and when it comes to having a different word for the same thing, Murrican words are often shorter than the English one. (Exception: you say cubby, we say glove compartment)
We abandoned you and let you do your own thing.
Hahahaha...I'm sure that is the British version of what happened.
You get a cubby on a boat, a glove compartment in a car.
abandoned?? (abandonment anxiety)
We lost!!!!
not from lack of trying jaxx.. but I'm glad I'm not part of the English kingdom..
do boats have cubbies? i don't know boat terminology
We went home with our tails between our legs.
boats in Chicago have Cubbies
we won because we had suprior generals and your king was nuts and we cheated a lot ha ha HA
They do - short for cubbyhole.
I love revisionist history. It seems to work for so many.
i tell you, Ru, as an English Christian I don't belong to the UK either.
hmmm
what's the biggest religion in England then?
How dare you malign the Monarchy?
??? with what
The poor King was suffering from Porphyra
to be honest.. I'm not so big on the monarchy.. but I've been told I'm wrong.
Atheists i should think, Ru. we are a godless society.
but you have your monarchy well reined in, no pun intended
i'm ok with atheism
Don't disown it. that was a very good pun.
how did we get to atheism? whiplash topic changes!
Interesting though
Anglicans probably outnumber the Unitarians, but whonose
and on that note, I am off to my bed. I have more medical tests tomorrow (or should i say later today?)and it would be nice if my BP dropped below 180/102.
Define unitarians, please.
not a question to be answered with a short answer, but, post-christian protestants who reject dogma and embrace sciencetifici thinking
scientific, that is (!)
We have a large number of Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, jews and scientologists as well as methodists and baptists. I am not sure many of those qualify.
A multi ethnic society we are today.
when i visited London in 1984 there were five Unitarian churches in the city
and yes, I did go to one
I must get to bed my eyes are crossing. I never knew that, Gwen. I am out in the sticks. Where are these churches.
in london, of course.
and in the phone book! nighty night jaxx
Night, all.
I shall have to look them up. I will google tomorrow.
time to go grocery shopping.. au revoir mes amis
i just googled -- there are 28 Unitarian churches in the London area. I must have had a phone book in 1984 that only covered a small section of the city
bye ruru

And now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!! Today i with to share with you a clip from Hollands' Got Talent. It stars a 9!! year old girl singing opera. I went with a un-subtitled version for sound and copy clarity, so if you do not speak dutch you can just fast-forward to the little girl's performance. The judges reactions say more that words can convey. It is truly stunning. http://tinyurl.com/legaeeh

Not sure if that's a good thing or not! LOL
I had a great one earlier today with Doren
don't ask me pini..it's too late to save my soul
I suppose if I take lessons I could adjust some...it might not be too late! :)
ru, how did you know I was on? I WAS enjoying your jokes--
I'm Psychic RB
that's how he rolls! :)
:D
Doren didn't even groan.. she just left to pull weeds that's how bad that one was
:D
oy
i just looked to see if I was listed as online--and oddly, I'm not. Yet here I am--and ru is psychic.
:)
I have some interesting stories about that I guess
It says Nef is on, yet there's no sign of her. My daughter often just leaves herself on, casually adds a word through the day--but she's not on. Rastapopolous, for all you who know Tintin.
I know Rasta.. she lives in Tahoe
almost met her once
And tomorrow's a hard work day--I've paid daughter #3 to come for a month, high pay--so I have to get to bed and be alert tomorrow to keep her busy, not waiting around for me. We're finishing the final vol. of RBarn, it's # 4.
rest well then RB
gotta git fer a bit, myself (hope to return by flip)
Actually Rasta is #3--it's #2 who is here. How did you almost meet her? They've moved down the mountain--can see theri place when they look up--but they have what could be called a little farm, they milk goats, have chickens, and a pigeon who thinks she's a chicken.
I did a wine event in Tahoe and invited her to come as my guest.. but timing wasn't good for her I think. Or she felt uncomfortable coming to the tasting. I paid for the whole thing so it would have been fine.
she's quite a character that one
I wonder what happened. Do you do these often? And how do you know she's a character? or do you mean the pigeon?
I don't know.. but I didn't want to question her about it.. I just offered.. she's very funny on the chat.. very bright and very quick
the pigeon?
I do tastings all the time.. hundreds of them
\I need another clue please\/ re6
to pay for your sins flosey
tks
ru
I kno3w she needs friends and doings--Nevada is pretty sparse. Yes, she is very bright and quick--but holds backan re6 flosey is to be sorry you did it
Nevada is super boring
Nevada makes New Mexico seem like manhattan
well, too late to go into Gillian--but I'll let you know when I'm coming west and we will come to a tasting. Now I better poink, is the word, or #2 daughter will be up before me. YES, YOU HAVE TO TRAVEL DISTANDES--pardon caps--to find friends and activities. I feel I know you ruru, yet don't, much--except your humor and willingness to accept people, even somewhat difficult ones. goodnight.
night RB
