can't believe it took me 40 minutes to find 96 words ugh
off to bed I go.. my dog wants to go to sleep :D
Howdy y'all - fireworks - see ya
good morning all
phantom: tornado
fireflies. Bye all, till next week
Are the tu7 and fu7 similar? Can't see them!
L
They are Alleyn - and use 3 of the same vowels - very similar to a type of cloud
Hello all :-) OS 7 was called earlier but I jut can not see it. any clues out there please?
Tanks for the TU & FU 7s, Lynxxx :-)
Thanks*
os7 ends in the last 4 of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Pit And The...."
TY
Hello, Molly. Many thanks! that also gave me the OS 6 :-)
ஜ۩۞۩ஜ F.I.R.E.W.O.R.K.S ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
Happy babbling everyone! For those just starting try adding the letter U to your words as it is used a lot in this grid :-)
Good morning.
Hello ((sukee??))
58 words earlier, but feeling sleepy and won't hunt mu** longer.
Hi Ruby
Was brushing my teeth
How are you, Sukee?
I'm doing okay, how about you?
I'm enjoying the heat wave, just worrying about the furry kids
We are having a bit of a heat wave too
I feel better when it's hot, fewer aches and ppains
Me too, although high humidity causes pain some times
I've been watching the Tour in the afternoons and soccer at night.
Just your basic couch-potato sports fa*
Been watching baseball :) The teams are on a break so I will be going through withdrawal.
good morning all - been watching the Olympic trials each night - last night was the gymnastics
Baseball in something I miss; even with a satellite, there isn't any here
hello, Teach, it's nice to see you
Hi teach
hello sukee and ruby
hello friends.
Hi Trif
hello TRI!
bonjour ruby, sukee, et al
(incorrect use of et al, sorry wvteach!) lol
I watched part of the European athletics last evening and was shocked at the tiny pants the women wear. A pretty girl doing a very long, long jump had her butt sticking out after!
wonderful news here - I am a brand new auntie! my darling brother and his beautiful wife had their first baby yesterday, a girl, Quinn. we are all over the absolute MOON
Congratulations
Congrats Auntie Trif!
they need sure grip spay adhesive, ruby - miss America contestants have been spraying their bums with it for years to keep bathing suits in place
I guess it sells tickets, but it was embarrassing, especially for a super athlete to be demeaned in that way
I feel the same way about beach volleyball - these women are athletes - why are they competing in bathing suits? its embarrassing
Yes, the women wear bikinis but the guys have shorts.
Some of the women wear shorts, so maybe they have a choice.
gross. really, even the track stuff has gotten ridiculous. they are running in next to nothing! you don't see the men out there in speedos, c'est dommage....
I ran track (badly) in college, but our uniforms were definitely modest
mind you, if I had those women's bodies I would be naked RIGHT NOW
I guess they want the least wind resistance :)
lol
Even though they're not wearing speedos, sometimes the spandex provide TMI!
Like the outfits speed skaters wear
lol sukee. primo's gf is TINY - barely five feet, and I doubt she weighs 100 pounds. and yet she ran the Boston Marathon! I marveled at it, asking her HOW she did it - she has no fuel! "I have no wind resistance either" was her clever reply.
lol
that's very cute, trif
Well, I have to go get ready to go out. Have a great day.
its always a mystery to me why the center square in babble very often has so few words from it. I would have thought there would be loads.
bye sukee. I hope it is a nice day for you
bye Sukee
may <>I> pls have stats or clues for bottom e and left-est u?
bottom e is the et4 needle case.
duh! ty
its ok. leftest u is ul4.6
will trade for count for fourth column o please?
don't have it Trif
I have the ov4
ov4/9 and ov5/18
hello Bich
merci ruby. I will look now
good morning bichon!
I have to rescue a large bee that is throwing itself against a window
ro4 is the new black....it has been in the grid every day this week I think!
g'mornin' trif, ruby
success! I hate killing insects unless I have to but I'm always afraid the dog will eat a bee
killing bees around here has become a huge social taboo, as they are dying by the millions
We have many different kinds including one which is more than an inch long nd is fuzzy and multi-colored
good lord! never heard of such a thing. vive la france!
The house is wide open most of the time (no screens) and dogs and injsects move about freely. Even birds and the occasional bat and lizard.
I guess I'm no longer a city girl!
I guess not! good for you! I love the idea of blending the line between outdoor and indoor. The frog under my couch was a surprise, though.
haha
I've only seen one frog in the almost 18yrs I've been here, I guess, like rabbits and squirrels, they've all been eaten
that is a worry! when one item in the food chain gets wiped out, the whole chain is imperiled
Good morning, everyone :)
phantom - tornado
good morning crossy!
There used to be ladybugs in the garden but no more
((crossy))
Howdy, trif, ((Ruby))
I had a lightning bug in my room last night, and suddenly I was a 7 year old again, with my own private Tinkerbell. it was such fun
thank god I have my room to myself again! that would have been hard to explain....
When you were little, did you put them in jars?
I did indeed ruby
Even in NYC, we had prayingmantises, walking sticks and other interesting insects
Here, there are fewer every year
shudder....NOT
PMs ruby! they TERRIFY me. seriously I run on water in abject terror if I see one
Really? I'm only afraid of tiny, harmless worms
HATE them. totally irrational, NO idea why.
Draginflies (libelluls) are the symbol of this lake and Annecy
and my totem animal! I love dragonflies so much
I think most phobias are irrational. I helped a friend get over her fear of dogs by introducing her to my sweetones.
But she'd been bitten.
But she'd been bitten.
The dragonflies here are gorgeous, usually banded yellow and black
that is a wonderful thing you did ruby! I have absolutely no plans to ever willingly go near a PM. luckily they are not as prevalent as dogs, or I would be hospitalized.
hahah
do you have what we call damselflies as well? I will see if I can find a link....bright neon blue bodies, sooty black wings.
I don't think so
Do you like moths?
oh CHRIST never mind! search for images of damsel flies and I got THE OTHER THING
poor Trif!
I like some moths. we have an absolute infestation of gypsy moth caterpillars and thus moths this year and they are the worst.
The same friend is phobic about spiders; she thinks she was a fly that got eaten by one ina former life
I don't like caterpillars as they sting and ca be dedtructive. But I rescued a beautiful large moth in the house, the other night. It had furry antennae
ok - put one in my profile...let me know right away if it is huge, please?
Occasionally, hawk moths come ad sip from the buddleias; they're visible because they're diurnal and big
some moths are really beautiful. some are just so pesty
I didn't get a look at its wings as it was moving too much, but I can send you a picture of "my" pet spider
of course
It's an Argiope, a common, multicolored garden spider
oh I like those! black and yellow here
However, I had a Tegeria Gigantea in the sink which terrified me
and orabge and white, too
yeah....I would say a big NO to that, sorry spider
I sprayed it down the disposal
I only like spiders when they're in webs, outside of webs their movements are too unpredictable
I tend to agree. I used to not mind spiders at all - then, many years ago now, I gotten bitten and spent two days in the hospital. so....pass
Brown recluse?
unknown. suspect was never apprehended.
god almighty I was a MESS though. fever, rash, sweats, you name it.
That'svery scary!
os6, please?
the local hospital here is so....unsettling. they are completely overwhelmed, and the very few times I have been there, or brought a family member there, we always seem to leave with a "damned if we know but you lived" diagnosis
Although I'm not afraid of them (except the big black ones that jump), I don't touch them. I may be crazy, but I'm no tstupid. LOL
os+ most of the navigator from star trek, but with a different last vowel
I think he was the navigator? George Takei, anyway
and the Navigator is here, too
Hi kids.
hi scrabs
Howdy, Scrabby :)
oh wait - no ignore that clue. that was awful, I missed a letter. I am so bad at cluing.
Hi Scrabbs
I got it anyway - thanks and good morning
os then anagram a cl4 that means to ask for babble help
hello river and annie and scrabby
((annie)) how nice to see you!!
how is it with you scrabbler? so many changes lately!!!
River!! hello
(((Ruby)))
I am in the Adirondack Mtns for several days getting relaxed and ready for my upcoming challenge.
This is a nice group -- crossy and his wordy harem!
Hi ruby and trif and river.
We're allchat and no action
Nice name for a rock band, Ruby.
What is your challenge, scrabs?
Not much of a Star Trek fan now and couldn't find it online. Is there another clue for os6, please?
I was named legal guardian for my 2 grandnephews on July 6th, Ruby. Child Protective Services delivered the boys to me that evening.
Wow!
marc is rhymes with ru** of thumb
Good morning, all. Wow, Scrabbs! Big changes ahead for everyone.
hello Judi
you are a great aunt to take that on.....
lol@ Crossy and the Wordy Harem Band
Yes, Judi. I was told 4-12 months of custody.
i agree with River -- wow
those boys are SO blessed to have you scrabbler. did you ask to have them, or were they gifted to you?
sorry Ruby didn't help
its my fault marc, my clues are terrible
How old are they?
os + cons + rµµµ of thumb
os + rhymes with stubborn as a mu**
It was me or a foster home with a stranger. My nephew, their father, requested me. The boys are 18 months and 4 (yesterday!).
got it thanks
r*** of thumb (not that exotic typo)
my goodness. a lot to take on! but you can do it! I am very, very glad you chose to take the days to recharge and get ready. self care will become critical in the days ahead.
Scrabs, I can't imagine -- your generosity of spirit and time and love boggles the mind!
You are amazing, scrabs, but nobody could do it better!
those sweet little boys....thank goodness they already know you, and are comfortable with you. such tumult for them
let us know if we can help in any way . . . books? toys?
I think that I need to cancel my August vacation though as coverage for that 6 days will be difficult. This 6 days was essential for me to get prepared for what lies ahead. I am doing lots of emails and calls when not kayaking or hiking, to get things arranged. A crib was donated last evening.
It is a tough thing you take on, Scrabbs, but I, as well as the rest of the babblers in here know that you are more that up to the task, and the best thing possible for those two boys at this time in their lives.
25 left but time for the Times and a nap
ditto what crossy said!
later, ruby :-)
tc Ruby :)
Will their father still be on the scene?
this is going to sound weird, but hear me out - if you can, get ahold of the sheets and blankets they used to sleep on. We used to do it with ours when we traveled. they would be so confused by the different house and such (thinking of when we would visit family overseas) but when they saw "their" beds they would instantly relax.
au revois, tous!
tu7, please?
tu7 rhymes with cu***** clouds
rhymes with the cu clouds,marc
snap, une lol
snap, ruby LOL!
don't have the cu?
excellent clue, Ruby! Tuesday!
What saddens me is knowing that they will return to their parents, mom first, in the future, but that is how it must me. I will maintain contact. I have visited weekly and maybe I will have overnight visitations. They need stability, structure, a mature adult figure, no yelling, no hitting, etc.
and Une, a tag team clue
cu's not in the grid but it's a common kind of cloud
oh those poor children....
must run -- BBL -- HAGD all!:-)
tc, Une
will mom be getting any sort of counseling/mom training/anything in the interim?
hey! found the fu 7/44 off that as well, just change the c for an f!
Bye Une
thanks got it
or the t for an f i mean
well done crossy! this is absolutely one of those grids where just bashing my head on the keyboard yields the same results as typing
and that is a 7/56... i cannot type today
Both parents are required to attend counseling, parenting classes, domestic violence classes, etc. It is a "menu" that they each must follow before regaining custody.
Agreed, trif. I just let the cats walk back and forth across they keyboard--same results
well, at least there is that, scrabbler, and I will send nothing but fervent prayers in your directions
This grid is just stuffed with "Babblets" :(
I must get ready for our big hike now. Off to see a 250 foot waterfall and then to descend into the Hudson River Gorge. I will be skinnydipping in the Hudson River later, folks.
I have the os6, what are the stats for the other 6, please?
Very nice--get pictures
:)
they obviously need help - hopefully they take it and learn from it
enjoy scrabs
I must get to work - have a great day folks!
65 four letter words in a 96 word grid--we know we are in for it. :(
does the os7 work of the os6?
yes, just latin up the ending for the 7
Bye kids. ENjoy the day.
so change the last two letter, yes?
tc, scrabby. Don't let the snapping turtle bite!
yes, marc
Ha - if Scrabbs is in the Adirondaks, the black flies are more of a danger that snappers.
The black flies, deer flies and horse flies are so thick in our area right now, you have to take special precautions when hitting the hiking trails ;(
Uhg. I would have to be draped in double mosquito netting.
The deer flies and horse flies are particularly bad--they do not just bite--they take chunks!
July and August are the worst, then it gets much better for Fall hiking
thanks got it. Anyone have the stats for the other '6' word. I have os6, please?
I am also looking for the other 6
ze6/33
found it, ty, lillian
clue please?
ze+ grandmother
perfect thanks
yw.
:)
I can see that I shall be left with nothing but four letter words in very short order. :(
I must admit that the 4's are becoming a bit of a pain now! I tried every combination for the ze4 apart from the one that was literally staring me in the face!
it is always the last combination :(
And i definitely need a fish slap now as i've just found the te5/10 from the same corner.
I shall not slap you since i still need that particular te5

Fireworks! Whew. Those last 20 or so were brutal.
Which Godzilla friend, Jeff? I was always partial to Mothra.
the other flying friend :)
Was that the three-headed thing? I don't remember the name. Was it Mu5?
20 to go. listing!

it's always nice to see tabby cats!
hi all
not sure if all is anyone but you and me, but hi sue!
hi hurshy
what are the stats for the 7's
dunno, i just started myself
I have a new movement for me, not just Black lives matter, but ALL lives matter.
wanna join?
no thanks...
ok
may i ask why?
because the point of Black Lives Matter is that it has already been clear in the history of the US that white lives matter. and we want Black Lives to Matter TOO.
yes, but what about latinos, and russians, and anyone who is in the country?
Latinos do suffer from a number of societal ills, I'm not sure the stats on police brutality which was the focus of this. Russians, at this point, being white, and the cold war being over, i don't think are suffering.
and thank you for discussing it with me. It seems like instead of talking about it, it is just argued about.
sure no probs
The Washington post has a great article about this and they say that black people are 2.3 more at risk then white. But that crimes by black people are more of a violent nature.
it's a vicious cycle. grow up in poverty, more likely to engage in criminal activity. expect violence from people, more likely to act violent.
it just feels like after all this time, we are in the same circle. At times i think this is a plot by ISIS or any other terrorist group to divide and conquer us. I know it sounds bonkers
it is not a plot by ISIS. it is the logical result of centuries of systemic racism. if you haven't read Ta-Nehisi Coates' acclaimed article "The Case for Reparations", I highly recommend it. It details a lot of the systemic abuses that some of us may not have been aware of. http://theatln.tc/1KC95mS
my dad, brother and sister were all in law enforcement. My sister is white and my dad and brother are black. I just feel at a loss. The blood has all been red.
unfortunately, there are still lots of people who are consciously racist. and then there is the subconscious, which is harder to get rid of.
that is very true.
meanwhile, the top O has me fairly stymied. i found one, but, i'm at quite a loss for the others
I have the hurtful one, that the other 2 i have are about eggs from the other o
same here
OS 6 and 7 - ending somewhat similar to other 7s but change last consonant
what if you don't have any other 7s cause you just started :)

aha found 'em, thanks!
other 7s are similar in sound to a type of cloud

hi all.
i am here to try to get any 6 or 7s. would lobe any clues. ty.
Hi msg. I think that you & I might be the only ones actually here tonight.
wow. amazing.
Os6/24 and os7/44 but I don't know how to clue them
i dont get that ze word at all.
tu7 and fu7 both end like a type of cloud
ze and another name for grandmom
peri if anything comes to mind let me know. ty.
os6,7os + minis____ (meaning very tiny
ty for ze. got it.
yvw
hi peri
hi and bye Nef. just stopped in for a bit. hoped my clues helped. c u later.
i got the six but the 7 doesnt take. is it just another letter or something else?
ty peri.
I had the 6's & 7's, was working on clues (but you are faster than me! :-)
gee not getting the os. got the six but not 7
still no 7s nef. so would love any clues.
put the last 2 letters as pause in a sentence when you are looking for a word
oh just got the os 7. wow. amazing change of ending. anyway would love the others clued if possible. ty.
The tu & fu both end like the name of a fluffy cloud
also need E bottom row clued, and the o word fourth row.
Geez, msg; you always ask for the hardest words; and ones that are hard to clue! ;-)
the Ov is a 5/4; & 1 relates to the openings of a sponge & the other has to do with egg shape
the e is that tiny needle case that is seen so often here
wish i remembered this stuff....needlecase...hm....
Sorry, I should have said et4/5 the babbles that i've never read or seen anywhere else
babblet
ty got both ov wordds.
Yay!
got et. ty ty ty
good for you! :-)
nef next time i will ask for easy words i hope.
If I'm the only clear, MAKE THEM EASIER TO CLUE,OKAY? :-D
sorry for yelling; I'm watching the weather (which we are having a bit of tonight) & wasn't aware I hit the caps lock
A bunch of tornados hit an area about 50 miles long in 30 minutes. As far as they know, there is only 1 person hurt, an elderly woman with minor injuries.
oh-oh. mkg isn't here anymore. If anyone sees her before I do please tell her I didn't mean to yell; I meant that as a joke & wasn't watching my typing
I have 11 words left; 1 from each letter I haven't found yet.
evening all
Hi jes
How are you tonight?
Sleepy - had an emergency call at 11:00 last night, and then another one called while I was driving to that one...
Oh, wow. How bad were the animals?
how're you?
first one was for euthanasia (old dog with tumors that started having seizures). second call was 2 dogs with porcupine quills.
I've been fine; I've almost emptied the front of my house (having those wood floors refinished this week; then next week they will do the other 2 rooms (I can't move all the furniture out of this place at the same time)
lot of work
And then tonight we've had a rash of weather warnings; so I'm distracted from Babble & also from moving stuff
what kind of weather? nothing that's going to do you damage, I hope?
yeah. And DH can't help. Luckily, Sunday my friends came over & helped with the hutch & antique desk & the buffet & a bed; but I doubt if I'll find a bunch of stuff after all of this
No, we have been in the weather alerts & warnings areas, but the tornadoes went north of the Cities. thankfully.
that's good. tornadoes are scarey
scary
There was a 50 mile area where tornadoes did a lot of damage in about 1/2 hour, luckily, only 1 person injured & it sounds like that wasn't too serious & that other people are all accounted for
about couldn't do better if you've gotta have a tornado
Lots of damage though; they were showing a trailer house that was picked up, flipped over and carried 50 feet to crash into another one! And no one was home!
good thing nobody was home!
a huge warehouse was completely destroyed; but the house right next to it wasn't even touched; the family there was home but unaware of the storm (not sure how they could miss hearing it thought!)
hey all
Hi stid; how are you tonight
good -- got a lot done, setting a few things up for next year's class -- feels good to get a few time-consuming tasks done while I can put my feet up and watch TV at the same time! :-D
how are you nef? Other than glad your second career wasn't as a furniture mover?
LOL! I really am glad of that! I'm fine
I have found, though, that I misplaced my good china dinner plates sometime after surgery though. I have every other piece of my china except 12 dinner plates! We used them at Christmas; but I was on drugs I guess.
hi stid :)
stymied by that E in the bottom row and haven't listed yet. Can anyone supply second letter and count please?
et babblet; small needle case
thanks nef - i kept trying to make something go vertically
Oh SHOOT! you wanted a count & I clued. I'm sorry
no worries, I needed that level of help! LOL
I have 1 word left, a te 5/10 & I just can't find it
male singer maybe?
ui
Oh Geez! That's it, stid!! Thank you! (FW)
hello frances!
yay nef!
:-D (have been thinking musically all day)
and YAY Nef!
is your dog dressed like buzz lightyear, frances?
that is the BEST dog icon ever!
I had to resort to Lickety at 22 words left & More words at about 11 words; but I still couldn't see that te 5!
Hello stid Yes, Buzz Lightog. He was dressed up for Haloween.
Even Buzz Lightdog.
That is a great costume, Frances! :-)
I am down to 25 now... :-D which is pretty good for the commotion of young adults playing a game (Munchkins) in the dining space. Love the open floorplan most of the time, but young men's resonant voices do carry!
Thank you - he lies ot.
Munchkins! We've played that! Do they play the basic game or one of the more devious ones.
My fingers won't work this early. He likes it.
Matthew was Buzz Lightyear one Halloween -- he was SO cute! Grant, of course, was Woody.
They play with some expansion packs. I need a couple of tutorials before I try to play -- It seems to be a fun game.
You have a standing invitation for a play date at any time, Nef! :-D And Grant sends his love.
My daughter dresses her dog up in costumes & she seems to like that too. (She wasn't too happy with the bunny ears at Easter though
Aww send him my love back! :-)
LOL Grant says "She's cool. Tell her she has the approval of a 21-year old." *rolls mama eyes* He remembers how happy I was to get the care package from you after the fire. <3
I like the basic Munchkins, but my son likes some of the others. He goes every Friday night & meets up with other computer nerds & they play board games all evening (& sometimes all night I think)
There is a gaming store in Lacey that the kids go to sometimes -- D&D, board games, you name it, apparently.

He plays board games at a friends hose. Ask Grant if he's ever played King of Tokyo? my grandson like that one. He's also trying to teach me a card game based on a Japanese cartoon; but I can't remember what it's called
And then we HAD to go play Pokemon this past weekend too!

Thanks for the help... when I listed I had a couple more words to go than I had minutes. Fortunately, several of them were exceedingly fishy.

I'm going to say good night yes; I'm fading fast & not sure if I can stay awake for the flip
(it's really dumb, stid; but my grandson loves to play it. --I think he makes up his own rules for it because they certainly don't make much sense
Oh drat. Now we're getting flash flood warnings at this time of night. It won't affect us; we're kind of on a hill between several lakes; but flash floods at night are dangerous
