I am told it is a steep learning curve, but once you got it, you will wonder how you ever managed without it.

Here, it is like flipping a switch usually. Amazing Fall through September and part of October, then a few frosts to give us warming, and finally, it is an even bet on whether the kids will be wearing costumes or snow gear on the 31st. After that you get a few flurries that do not stay because the ground is still too warm, then once into November, all bets are off.

judi -- ive been dealing ok with decaf + the occasional soda, but i DO splurge once in a while with a fully caffeinated cuppa...
i also happen to have a half-full bottle of Starbucks slightly-sweetened cold brew sitting in the fridge that i bought to make a dessert for a coworker... hubby doesnt drink coffee at all, so its on me to make sure it doesnt go to waste!
Flea bombs work well. We had that problem in a house we rented once. Bed bugs get into cracks and under carpets, etc. Much more difficult to get rid of.
When we were in Belize we got many sand flea bites and I was so miserable

When my kids were younger they ended up with head lice and fleas in their bedroom from a stray cat. The flea bombs worked, but unfortunately I couldn't leave the kids in the house to get rid of the head lice that way. I was tempted tho. ;-)

This is sad, but i must admit that i set my alarm the other night for 2.30am so i could watch Adam Peaty win our first gold medal of the games! He's a brilliant swimmer and one of few of our athletes that have won every gold medal for all games, as in world, commonwealth etc

my appt in a few weeks includes an internal exam to determine (in the doctors words) "whether or not the train has a chance of fitting through the tunnel" as for me, im generally feeling pretty good. tired + heavy...occasional ankle/feet swelling...occasional acid reflux...some pain in the expected areas (inner leg joints, mostly, and sometimes lower back) but nothing unbearable and all totally worth it. :)

Yes, as you near the end it does get quite uncomfortable but well worth it as you say.I had a great pregnancy until the end when i had pre-eclampsia which is why she was born early but she was born healthy and is now nearly 17

so far, my biggest "issue" is that i failed the 1-hour glucose test. while i passed the 3-hour test, they did discover that i have trouble processing simple sugars...so im supposed to be altering my diet accordingly...but its HARD!
that, unfortunately, is part of what's contributing to a big boy. heh
years ago here, c-sections were only carried out if problems during birth but now you can actually ask for one here.I'm glad i could have her naturally.
im not sure if i could have just requested one outright, but the doctor was clear that if there was no chance of baby fitting out naturally, she wasnt gonna put me in a position to push for hours on end + end up having one anyway...
So, is it just to do with your pregnancy Eva, or were you diabetic before? My ex- sil got diabetes when she was pregnant with her 3rd i think and is still diabetic, but she could have been diabetic before she was pregnant and didn't know it, but i do know of others that have had gestational diabetes and then been fine after
honestly, im not sure. i do NOT have diabetes or any sort (before or now). but i think its quite possible that my body may have already had this trouble with simple sugars + i just had no way of knowing until now...
what i DO know is that its virtually impossible to NOT eat ice cream during the summer. ;)

Well, he's healthy, so that's the main thing! Do you have any particular cravings Eva? I never ate ice cream but i did have a couple of jam doughnuts.I've never had much of a sweet tooth.My craving was semi skimmed milk. I used to drink 4 6 litre bottles a day
im already eating ice cream now, so it doesnt much matter...heh i cant WAIT until i can have a little something alcoholic, though. im not normally much of a drinker, but i could totally got for something!
baby has definitely kicked my sweet tooth into overdrive, so thats been tough. ive also been drinking a LOT of milk...and randomly had peanut butter for dinner last night. literally, just spoonfuls of PB straight out of the jar. LOL
I think when you can't have something, you want it all the more.As soon as the bairn was born i had a peanut butter sandwich :)

i sent hubby out the other night for a specific brand of ice cream. its higher in protein + lower in sugar (and calories!) than most, so at least its not SO BAD when i eat it. (which is what im eating now!)
i wonder if that is related to how many kids have peanut allergies now? (i.e. lack of exposure)
saying that i had peanuts and alcohol a few Saturdays in a row before i knew i was pregnant and she was fine so i didn't think it would harm her but i stopped eating them anyway and drinking obviously and i was glad to have liver aswell after she was born as i like liver, oh and prawns

the only things my doctor put completely off-limits to me are brie cheese (cant be pasteurized) and raw-fish sushi. so im allowed other soft cheese (so long as theyre pasteurized, which almost all are) and cooked or vegetarian sushi (which at least satisfies the craving, though i cant wait for the REAL stuff again!)

It could well be Blah, the same with germs.I used to pick chewing gum up off the street and eat it and i was never ill.We have to have some germs in us so we can build up an immunity.It's too germ free now which is probably why kids get ill all the time.

my doctor DID point out that japanese women eat sushi all the time + their kids turn out just fine. but i think its also that over there, they are used to that food + know to handle/store the fish in such a way as not to contaminate it. its not quite so ingrained in our culture, so its more likely to be no bueno.
i was told, nuts,prawns,pate(which i love) raw fish, alcohol and definitely not liver.and all meat had to be cooked properly...but that was nearly 17 years ago so things change.My husband also made me a pate sandwich to go with my peanut butter one after the bairn was born...i was in heaven! :D
well learly you just needed to move to japan
all my doctor said about meat was that steaks should be cooked well-done (yeah, RIGHT) and that lunchmeat should be fresh or cooked through. so i can HAVE lunchmeat, but i want to be mindful of where it came from + how it was stored.
i have to admit that, while i havent had a LOT of steak, i have had some (as well as burgers) and i have NOT been asking for them well-done. i just cant do it!

I know that Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a great tragedy which seems to be avoidable ... ... but with No.2 my wife drank far more than is recommended and was using a migraine medication, Imitrex, which was new at the time ... ... but perhaps by good fortune No.2 is fine and too smart for her own or my own good ... ... I'll guess that these is a lot of individual variation ... ... so if you want an alcoholic drink ... take it ... but I'd suggest slowly, with food and perhaps watered down and not often

I wasn't bothered about alcohol but i must admit i did smoke but i did cut down to 5 a day and with not drinking every Saturday night i didn't smoke at all but saying that i was getting everyone elses' smoke so i didn't need too and the bairn was fine.
Nature protects the fetus fairly well, but the more you tip the scales, the better.

They are awesome. We have a season ticket and go out pretty much every week at this time of year. Even if they're not very active, which they weren't yesterday, it's still so amazing to see them.
Especially when they blow through their airhole!
Yes but the best here is when they breach or when they mug the boat, which means they swim right next to the boat. They're so huge.
We have a very long season here because we're right in the middle of their migration route, so we get them swimming north and south.
I bet that is scary yet great at the same time!
