l planted a dried upand ugly arum bulb abou amonjth ago and it already has a beautiful red-violet and green flower!
If you've had the rain, the grass should bounce back very soon - then you will have a glorious yard to lounge in and look at from the patio :)

Thanks. The trouble with the iPad is that the keypad comes up when you type and obscures the grid. This way is much easier.
I've never worked on an iPad.. but not a fan of touch screen things.. and can't seem to function without a mouse ;)

The problem is having too much choice. My eyes tend to glaze over with computer stuff, all the different specs etc. Just show me to the 'I am simple to work and will not cost you a fortune' shelf.

l have two laptops -- one Asus and the other Acer. Neither is parti_cularly reliable or comfortable to use
Perhaps you don't need to worry about the "guts" so much, as long as the keyboard and screen are suited to you size-wise. If you need extra memorey for storing pictures etc. you can always get an add-on memorey stick, they are very cheap. You don't need a top shelf bells and whistles speedy gonzales machine?

My old (1988) cancer is back aggressively attacking my bones. They keepchanging my meds, but the current chemo is in pill form and its only side effect is called hand/foot syndromle and keeps me fromwalking more than a few steps$

I know a hoarder! My sister actually. I'm safe, she doesn't babble. It's a disease and very difficult for me to visit.
Fortunately, the house is big enough to hide my hioarding.
I can imagine, Sally. It just doesn't make sense to most people but they seem to be trapped by 'stuff'.
I feel sorry for them and cross at the same time, because they know it's making their life more difficult and yet can't let go.
It was difficult to explain to her when her husband di4 that we had to clear the house for people to come back.

I have tried to tactfully suggest professional help.

She's always been the same, so was her husband, and it has now got worse and worse. She won't let anyone in the house because of the "mess". I just say firmly, I'm your sister, don't be silly, and visit. Luckily she's 200 miles away.
Poor lady. You're very good to keep seeing her. But the decision to change can only come from her.
She sort of agreed with the suggestion, but I know won't do anything about it. That's the problem, isn't it. And it isn't my house or my business, i just feel for her because it makes her unhappy.
I know. And even the professionals sometimes have a hard time getting through. But it's lovely to see some of the transformations that can take place.
She was once playing patience in bed and the light bulb went, so she carried on playing by torch. I suspect the light bulb still hasn't been replaced.
Goodness. I would run out of patience (pardon the pun) very quickly.

Not as straightforward as John. he was my era. he was a bad boy but Novak cheats. he calls for the coach and then sends him away so he upsets the person he's playing. he blames his shoes and keeps needing to change them, again interrupting the flow of the game. Even in the Final this year when he missed a shot he battered his shoes with his racquet.
Good thing Unea left, as she's a Rafa fan, I'm a Federer fan. Oil & water, one or the other, can't like both.

I live in Palm Bay which is adjacent to Melbourne. Melbourne is the sister city and was named after Melbourne, Australia. Palm Bay is much bigger around 75 square miles. I am on the ocean side and about 40 miles south of where the rockets are launched at the Cape.
Nice. The last shuttle launch I was able to see, had no idea it would be visible!, from Key West. It was exciting.
Can always just step out my door to see any launch. Was on the beach which is near my house and watched John Glenns last trip to space. It is always cool to watch and never gets old but the night time shots are magnificent.

nrkii - the thing about the book is that it allows the reader (as in any book) to imagine the characters, landscape, etc. But Wrinkle excels in that area as in that it quiet nondescript, so imagination is well stimulated.

jai - I felt the same way about 'Ready Player One' - it an outstanding book. Can only be truly appreciated by someone who lived through those times, as there are so many priceless tiny references to the culture of the time.
When is the book set?
I have had this idea for years, but up until recently, it would not have been possible. Now, with CGI, it can be done. I told a friend about it years ago, and she liked it, so now I am doing a screenplay. It's going to be a sci fi family thing that takes place in our solar system.
I am picturing gorgeous views of our outer planets. I love sci fi- I have been a Trekkie since forever.

Were you out and about today in the nice weather?

I have some Welsh roots, too, Origami, but having learned Welsh and most especially the Welsh alphabet, it helps. Having said that, I get so few opportunities to speak Cwmraig now that I'm forgetting more than I learned. :(

I was a late in life baby for both of my parents. He was 50 when he died. Much too young. A truly wonderful salt-of-the-Earth type man. I was 9. I miss him a lot.

Daughters and Dads, eh? Usually a lovely combination. So awful for you to lose your Dad so young, origami. I was lucky enough to ave my Dad for quite a while longer before dementia took him from me and his death about a decade later. But he's not gone... Sometimes, when I'm looking for a particular tool to do some job or other or wondering how to do something... I seem to be drawn to the place where the tool is or drawn to the DIY book with the instructions on how to do the job, or I just have a flashback to Dad doing the job and see how to do it. When he took early retirement, Dad asked me to give him a list of jobs to do and he went through them so fast that I could hardly keep up with him. He'd already whipped through all the jobs Mom needed doing and was looking for more... and so she sent him to me. lol
I was lucky that my Dad lived and remained compos mentis enough to see both of his grandchildren and have a hand in bringing them up. He died almost 15 years ago. My kids are both in their early 30s now and so had time with him. Mum's still going strong though. She's 82 now!
Sorry, Jac. I didn't have him around long enough to teach me a lot of things - but I could fly fish like a grown man by the time I was six, make fishing flies, and whittle. And he gave me his sense of humor :D

I remember going fishing with my dad. He take me along as 'a little aside' when he was fishing in competitions. Sometimes I caught more than he did! He didn't know whether to laugh or cry. :)

Yes, fishing - major bonding time with my pop. I remember when I was really young and he just used to roll his eyes when I splashed in the water and scared the trout away.
I was taught how to flyfish and how to make flies and lures. Yes, fishing with our Dad, whether you be male or female, is a great bonding experience.

I once remember being given a (hastily made, I know that now) medal for 'winning' the tournament, as I caught more fish than all the men. I was probably about 7 then.
Being an only child and an avid reader, though I did enjoy having noisy fun with cousins and friends, I wasn't a bad bet to take along to a fishing contest. I wasn't a noisy child, and I'm still not noisy now in my 60s, though I do love most forms of noisy rock music.
What I do hate these days, especially since cordless earphones are available, is other people inflicting their music on me.
