pretty okay. Did a lot of work this weekend, got rid of a new load of stuff. Sometimes cleaning out closets is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster though. We are a bit wobbly, so to speak. How are you doing, all alone?

I've been keeping really busy prepping herbs, but I just have to sit down after an hour or so - it's just been so hot!
I don't know if it's Tues or Weds - guess he fell asleep on the couch again...and didn't call tonight. He gets bored over there too.
good job on the herbs. And on resting. This kind of heat saps one of all energy.
I harvested purple basil, spicy globe basil and sage today, now it's all cleaned and on racks to dry.

Me too! And I've been cleaning lavender off the stems. Most comes off easily, but I'm a little OCD when it comes to "waste not, want not" lol

I can do this when he's here...but it is easier to not have to adhere to any schedule with finishing up and having things out of the way.
OCD, lol, ikr? I have this eating disorder and am going to OA meetings, where I see time and again that all addicted people are OCD in some way.

working hard, one day at a time, to learn to live with it and get past the destructive behaviour at least, lol. 'Our' addiction is extra hard, because you can stay sober and clean from alcohol or narcotics, but not from food. It is a balancing act every day, every meal.
My weight has bounced around over the years, but it was health issues, not eating issues. Well, part was eating stuff my body didn't like, but once I stopped sugar and gluten, I've stayed within 2 pounds of where I want to be. But I did get a tad shorter with age, lol! I used to be 5'6" when I was younger, now I can stretch to 5'4" if I really try.

lol true! I am getting shorter too. It runs in our family to really shorten in our old age.
It's still so tempting to eat sourdough bread! I love it! But it makes me pay later, and it's not worth the price. And hubby loves his bread, so I've gotten used to seeing it and ignoring it. But smelling freshly toasted...omg, it's so hard!
so frustrating. Not at all fun to have to forego stuff we really love, just to stay healthy. But yeah, worth it.
My ancestors are Welsh and Swiss - all the women have gotten shorter - I'm afraid of osteoporosis - my mom had it, but made diet changes that resoved it. I need a new scan - already hit osteopenia, am hoping I've done right by my bones.

I have to do the same, because of my chronic vitamine D shortage. Full yoghurt and butter.
Doc has me on 10,000IU of D a day. I go back in a couple of weeks, and hope he has the nutrition test, if not, will go to the doc here in town that does it. No insurance covers it, darn! But it's worth knowing where I am, cuz I'm definitely not gettin' any younger!
same has happened here. We used to be able to stop working at 65, and if you were willing to have a little less money, you could stop a few years earlier even. My beloved is 61, and in stead of working less, he has to stay working until 67 now.
That sucks. Mine was run out of his job because of his PD - boy was that a major stressor. He's 63, and had enough years in that retiring early only took a couple of bucks a month off of his county retirement, so that worked out really well.
I will be so intensely grateful once we are rid of this house and the mortgage. We need to live simpler, less expensive lives and hopefully my beloved will be able to cut his hours then. I want him to become happy and energetic again.

after babble, I am gonna fill up some more boxes with stuff to get rid of. We try to do a bit every day. And once Tim is in Scotland, we will put our house on the market and take it from there.
YAYAYAY!! That smile meant the world to me, so exciting! He's still struggling a bit to get everything fine tuned, but it has only been 8 1/2 weeks. He actually has little dimples when he cracks a smile! And his eyes twinkle! I can finally SEE the man behind that PD mask

most of what we get rid of goes to the thrift store here. Some of the children's stuff goes to neighbours with kids. And the rest is garbage.
We now have 2 outdoor areas that are completely usable! He cleaned up all his junk, so we can eat outside again if it's cool enough! Looks great!
that is so nice :) Feels good too, doesn't it, getting rid of surplus stuff. Louise Hay calls it 'cleaning the closets of your mind' and I find that is true.
Oh yeah! He needs to make a dump run though - my work area outside is where he literally dumped 3 dead tarps, grrr! I tried to roll them up to get them in big trash bags, but they're too big. Need his truck, that messy stuff is NOT going in the back of my car!
had this emotional thing though... I found my baby booklet, with pictures but also with all kind of data on my first few years. One page is for what the baby likes to eat... first year: orange and Liga cookies. second year: potatoes, meat and veggies third year it said: 'You do not like eating at all. You will only eat yoghurt.'
When my mom passed, I found mine.
made me so sad, to see in black and white that my eating issues were triggered that early in life. All because of the abuse and fighting at home.

thanks hun. Yeah, I was sad. But the good thing is, in stead of pushing away the sad feeling and ignore it and then go on to have a big eating binge, I was able to feel compassion for the child I was and allow myself to be sad for a little while. And then to move on, because I am an adult now (most of the time) and I am able to make my own choices.

Sometimes I wonder how I manage...if not for automatic payments, I would forget one or two! I think I have everything on auto-pay, all I have to do is make sure the money is there! I screwed up so badly after I hit my head, but years of work - and word games to make me think - helped.
word games are awesome to retrain the brain, for sure. I am struggling every month to pay the bills now. I am hoping that after selling the house, things will become less complicated and I can get the kind of routine going that you describe. That would be really good.

I went to the ER for the first time recently and asked if I had done so appropriately - so scared to be the moron showing up for a minor complaint. Yeah; don't be stupid like me; I'm allergic to bees & hornets. Last year I got stung & thought it wasn't so bad (because I'd had the allergy shots & I wasn't reacting bad); but 2 hours later I needed an ambulance because of the severe reaction. (& I'm a nurse, for goodness sakes!)

my "all clear" in 1995. Now l think l'm way past the orriginal stage 2A as it's in my bones no but it doesn't hurt. Mostof the pain coms from my twisted spine (genetic problem) but the oxy formpy cancer uusually works for that

Ifyouuhad had a stroke there would have been signs withouta brain scan.
there are several signs of strokes: weakness on 1 side of body; facial droop, confusion, etc.

What l've learned to do is ratemy pain. Under 5 doesn't cà ncern me much. 8 gets my attnetion. 15 gets me into bed!

l'll see the GP within a day or two. Thoracic scan and one or two blood tests and then TADA, l see the oncologist on the 30th s(can every 3 months)
I agree, but it's annoying that she was very hinky about an hour ago and they may have seen her much better than she had been and therefore concluded that nothing is going on.

Lots of green parakeets now living wild in London and the home counties. I hope they don't come our way because they'll strip my fruit trees and bushes. And, if they do that, I'll be happy to set my cats on them.
We've got non-native peach faced love birds in our area. They seem to be doing well.
He was a cape parrot, a real character. Sadly, we lost him. I miss him terribly, but we couldnt commit to another bird that might outlive us
My mum had a pair of rose parakeets (love birds) some years ago, but now only the male is left, sharing a large cage with a budgie.
They are probably quaker parrots, the s has several areas where they have wild flocks. Some states have banned them as pets but surprisingly, the wild obes dont respect the law :p
All Mum's birds are ones she's inherited lately. There was a canary a dear friend of ours left to her when she died, but that died not that long after its owner did, despite Mum's loving care.

The canary NEVER sang when it was with it's original owner. It did sing twice when it was with my mum. Once, just after it arrived and saw all the birds outside in her garden as well as the ones in her house and once just before it expired.
