I am almost done with the NYT puzzle from our paper yesterday which was published in the NYT last week. This puzzle is the highlight of my week.
oops - and i even knew it wasn't in the grid! *lol*
i wish i could get the Sunday NYT puzzle here (on Sunday, in a paper newspaper)
And I have always had a jigsaw puzzle going since the winter
i have books of their puzzles, but it's not the same as flipping through the magazine and being rewarded with the puzzle at the end of your read
I do the puzzles online...i subscribe....i can print them out, but I don't....
Look up the cork puzzle--corks lined up. It was the toughest puzzle that I have ever done and took me about 6 wks to finish
I was hoping to bring the puzzle to the Outer Banks this month, but now....figured it was a good thing to work on....

the puzzle i am doing has no picture....it's a mystery puzzle....1000 pieces, so it fits on my table....when i am done, i will read a short story and use the puzzle picture to solve the mystery....
I have never done one of those.
they are fun, but challenging....good project right now because it's slower going than a regular puzzle....
i have to be careful not to OD on the puzzle.... ;o)
The puzzle I am doing now has very odd shapes and is not linear.

i often tell students that the secret of success in math is to have a zen attitude. when they first started introducing variables in school, other kids would freak out. what? letters?? you don't use LETTERS in MATH! whereas i said, "you want to use letters? ok, we'll use letters. whatever."
I think looking way back, when I was first taught maths, I thought I understand the underlying things, then changed schools to be taught a different way that then made no sense to me, so I kind of created my own ways of working out stuff. Most of the time it worked and sometimes it totally didnt

My cat is great. She is very self-sufficient and doesn't demand much from me.
As long as she has food to graze on, mine is wonderful. She's indoor/outdoor and either perches on the window ledge outside of resides in her favorite notch in the oak tree so she can see everything, lol. Thank God she can't talk. My son found her under an azalea bush at a friend's house after Katrina, she was about 8-9 wks old. He brought her home and here she's stayed. So, July will make her 15 people years old.
We put food on the ledge for her because even tho she could probably whip the dog's behind, she's leery of her. The cardinals are helping her with that in prep for their upcoming migration. She doesn't mind, just ignores them, believe it or not.
Mine is 15. She was a stray kitten a friend found. She is in charge of the dogs :D
I'm not a cat person, but also seem to have one. Cats love me - maybe because they sense I'm not really interested :D
Yep. All of mine over the years were strays or 'Ms Amy, can you take these kittens because my daddy will kill them if they stay here' from cats who had their litter under someone's home.

I'm with ya, origami, I'm a cat person simply because mine are indoor/outdoor and not 'needy', if that makes sense. My husband was always a dog person (me, not so much) and we have a canine addition that probably would be dead by now if he hadn't brought her home. She's a sweetheart but makes me absolutely bat$hitcrazy with her want of attention, lol.
I am definitely a dog person. I have two large old dogs now. They're currently sleeping on my unmade bed.

but I'm still a cat person and the dog doesn't get on the bed. one would think that a short haired dog wouldn't shed much but, sheesh, she's horrible... I read somewhere that that's more of a female canine thing but I cannot attest to that.
If this shelter in place thing continues much longer, I may adopt more, lol. I think older furbabies need to be loved and homed but am not home (usually) enough for integration measures... *shrug*

Both of mine sleep with me. A combined weight of 160 lb. There is a little room for me.
I am always covered in dog hair. I find it everywhere.
I have a cousin who has taken in livestock (donkey/horse) along with dogs/cats. She's awesome.
Magda (cat) is long haired and when she grooms herself inside I have to vacuum more often, lol. I try to keep the dog off the furniture but in winter (when she sleeps inside) she's gotten into the habit of sleeping on the couch (her bed is evidently not cozy enough). Thankfully, weather has changed and she prefers to sleep in her chair on the patio at night.
I have a black and tan dog, a white and red dog and the cat is long-haired white and black. I look good for about 5 minutes after getting dressed. Then I look like a lint roller.
