Folks in town where I work have a pair of great pyr. So elegant when he walks them together. They are such a happy and friendly pair. I don't know how he ever gets them properly exercised. Everyone wants to stop and pet them.
They are SUCH loving, gorgeous dogs! But they do often have hip issues
Such is the fate of so many large dogs. We had a husky with that problem. She became paralyzed in her rear legs. We had a rolly cart for her near the end. So sad.

so this might be of interest to some people - massachusetts has, for several years, undertaken serious efforts to help the native herring population rebound, after it was seriously wiped out. Yesterday beloved and I went to a local herring run, and there they were! Hundreds strong, swimming upstream, jumping up the ladders, etc. They are still no where NEAR where the number should be, but to see conservation efforts finally paying off was really something!

I did have a mask on and there was a dog hair sticking on the end the whole time and occasionally making my face itch. but I think I did good job of not touching my face.
I wore a mask to the laundromat early this am. thank goodness it was not crowded

Masks are mandatory in stores around here now. It seems kind of dumb to make them mandatory a month after this show got started. A little after the fact, I mean.

I had an emergency dental procedure this morning. The dentists & assistants had masks and face shields, but I overheard them telling someone they don't have enough masks for the office staff - I felt very bad for them. It's just nuts that the people there to help us can't get the protection they need. I also know some people who have to shop for themselves who also can't get their hands on a mask. I tried to buy some bandannas for them but even those are sold out. And fabric stores are closed.
well, they aren't that effective at stopping you from getting the virus, but they help you not to spread it if you have it, which you may have even if you don't feel sick
well it's not like effectiveness rates of the real masks, but even the CDC says it's better than nothing

I went to the sewing section at walmart to see if they had gotten any elastic and there wasn't a bolt of cotton on the shelves. normally there is a whole aisle full. luckily my fabric hoard is large.
I cut up a sock to use as elastic on the mask I made
the thing about a pet is, they are so easy to make happy
I had gotten rid of a bunch of swim suits last year but kept the tops to cannibalize for parts - have used swim suit straps on quite a few masks
