Goodnight nan and all!

1:56 am

Fireworks and bed time. Hope tomorrow's will have more words.

2:18 am

Fw!

I had a brief, fleeting hope I could finish without the list. Alas, I have 17 left and am stuck

4:30 am

Morning Mattie. How is Tilly?

She's good! Gaining weight. Not sleeping enough and keeping her parents awake. She's grand!

4:32 am

Happy to hear that!! My little grandson Paul will be one on Wednesday. I should be over there today for the big par-tay, but coronavirus scuppered that. I’m gutted.

Yeah - I should have been in Australia, but sadly, I'm here

4:34 am

FB video chats & Whatsapp video calls are great, though. My son had to wipe down his phone last night after Baby Paul gave mea big slobbery kiss by video.

Awwww! Tilly's a wee bit young to interact much on FB, but she's gorgeous nonetheless

4:37 am

When do you think you’ll be able to get over to see her

I'd love to think around November or December, but I have a hunch it won't be until next year. Even when we lift restrictions, we are so full of COVID (the country, not me personally) that Australia won't let us in, I'd guess

4:40 am

What a bummer. I’m off now - take care Matty

Have a most excellent day!

(So far, no list, but I may well need for the last three - 1 four and 2 fives, an M, a D and an S)

4:54 am

... which "s"? ... I've got them

I don't know - I haven't listed. It's one of the seven Ss in the first column.

4:56 am

... my last "s'" was "not hard"

Yeah, I have that one, thanks ;) (I think that was one of my first)

4:56 am

There is SA 4/5, SA 5/10, SA 6/18, SO 4/6, SO 4/4, ST 4/4, ST, 5/10

4:57 am

SO 4/7 too

4:58 am

Actually, no SO 4/6 :)

And it's sa4/4, surely (which I have) - latin for without

4:58 am

So, 3 SA, 3, SO, 2 ST

4:58 am

Yes, sorry, it's early

No worries. I'm trying to do this without a list anyway, which I can almost never do ;)

Found all the Ss now. And all the fours. 2 left!

1 left! M5

(no clues wanted, just announcing my progress) ;)

AND done - no list! Hurrah!

5:12 am

Well done Matty. You seemed very into this one.

5:37 am

mo 5.16 clue please

5:39 am

5:43 am

5:43 am

5:44 am

Yw, fw for me too, seldom happens.

6:01 am

Could I have another clue for the mo 5.16 clue please? I'm not getting the saloon clue.

6:02 am

... well mo5/16 on down and we'll just have a chat about it

6:03 am

Go it. Thank you!!

6:40 am

good morning all. was up at 5:30 am so got dressed and went to the market. back home by 7:15 am.

6:40 am

I got tonic along with healthy stuff

6:43 am

I love grocery shopping early. Not many people to deal with.

6:44 am

there were few people and no lines

6:44 am

I'm going out in a little bit. Need fresh fruit for the weekend.

6:44 am

I'm so glad the fresh produce section of the store is back to normal

6:45 am

I got red grapes and cherries both on sale. got strawberries yesterday at the farmers market

7:04 am

Ooo, fresh strawberries are so good. Nothing like those straw tasting ones in the grocery store.

7:05 am

We don't have local strawberries til next month. Guess there won't be pick your own

7:05 am

There is a reason they call them strawberries. Someone tasted some old, non-flavorful ones and said "These taste like straw" : D

7:06 am

That is okay with me. My achy joints are way past the point of pick your own. : )

Could I please get the stats for the lone 't' in the 5th column?

7:43 am

te4.5

How could I have missed that one. Thanks

7:45 am

Cheers!

hello. love fresh strawberries. I think they are already done here. I got a few pints but they weren't as good as usual.

7:54 am

Morning, Carla. I thought the same thing.

good to know it wasn't just me

7:55 am

I wonder if it was all the cool weather

and wet weather?

7:56 am

Could be. We did have a cople of nights of frost at ripening time.

7:57 am

2020, the year that was weird

I saw the farm stand I go to had 4 field workers test positive at the end of April.

the year that everyone wants a do-over

7:58 am

It is crazy for sure.

8:00 am

No Olympics

I forgot. I love Olympics and look forward to it.

8:01 am

All those athletes who were peaking this year

now they'll have to wait for the senior olympics when they're older

8:04 am

I think discovering what this kind of quarantine can do will make people re-evaluate some life choices. Already, many couples with multiple children are deciding to have one parent stay at home. The daycare/summer camp situation is critical mass.

so many phantom words with -dder

8:05 am

I read an NPR article this morning that listed summer activities from high to low risk. Very interesting.

8:08 am

Yeah Bea, but that article says that using a public restroom is low to medium risk and I know a lot of germaphobes who would disagree : D

8:09 am

Wearing nitrile gloves and carrying hand sanitizer helps

yeah, I limit my public restroom use in good times. and port-a-potty is emergency only. have probably only been in 3 total.

8:09 am

And getting a haircut is high risk and man, just about everyone needs one.

8:09 am

Well, it is low to medium for corona. There are many other things to be worried about in a public restroom.

8:10 am

Clearly, Carla has not attended outdoor music events and drank large quantities of beer.

true, never been a big drinker

ooh, finished the a and the o, bea

8:11 am

8:40 am

congrats bichon

ooh, just found the old fashioned one

FW thanks for all the clues.

well done, bichon & marc. will keep looking for now. at least I know what I'm missing.

8:45 am

Thanks for the clues below.

can a finisher please tell me what the total points on your word list is?

ooh, just found one. one to go!

8:48 am

Go, carla, go!

would have liked a larger one today, but that's the way the algorithm tumbles

I'm stumped. Can't find one R5. Guess I will come back later.

generally a good strategy - refreshed eyes.

i am sitting here realizing that it's memorial day weekand and not only do i have the heat enabled, but it's coming up. sheesh.

8:59 am

I reset my thermostat to 65 a few weeks ago.

it's about 56 here, and damp.

i went out to lowe's to get mulch and plants yesterday. i lugged 10 bags,, mulched 6, and mowed the lawn. i feel better when i am very busy.

9:02 am

I am down to a missing d5 from the center square. O have do5/12 x 2 and du5/14 - what's my missing D?

9:02 am

*I* have

9:03 am

and du5

9:04 am

got it thanks Scrabbs and all cluers!

9:04 am

I mean another du5

9:04 am

Enjoy your day.

9:05 am

likewise. I am having to rework my Memorial Day tradition of visiting Arlington National Cemetery - no tourists allowed

9:06 am

Aw, well, do a virtual tour on-line.

ceremony is webcast

9:06 am

that's a great idea

9:07 am

i haven't tried to attend any official ceremonies - I usually just pick a quiet corner and read some names

oh, i misunderstood. thought you had family there.

9:08 am

I like the oldest part of cemeteries.

9:09 am

modur

9:09 am

Not a word.

the history of cemeteries is fascinating. they were used for recreatio picnics, etc in victorian times.

like parks.

9:10 am

The City of Buffalo's large cemetery, Forest Lawn, is popular for walkers, bikers, and picnics.

laurel hill in philadelphia is very historic and has many progeams for visitors.

9:11 am

Arlington is a "revenge" cemetery - the estate house belonged to Robert Lee's family, and when he defected to the Confederacy the Union Army started burying their dead on his front lawn

9:11 am

I didn't know that, Dan. TY.

9:12 am

Good Morning from rainy, dreary Minnesota

9:12 am

I spent one college summer as a tour guide there - somber and fascinating history

9:12 am

Aw, too bad, Cad. We are in stretch of summery weather.

9:13 am

Cool, Dan.

9:13 am

sods

9:13 am

Nope, I don't drink alcohol, Cad.

9:14 am

Oh, I was thinking of so4/4

9:14 am

a nearby county high school just recently changed from Washington-Lee to Washington-Liberty

9:15 am

Intreesting.

yes, let's wipe out history, in lieu of facing it straight on.

9:16 am

I just finished and didn't even know I had uno.

and it is time to move on to the order of the day., refurbishing the bathroom vanity. adieu.

9:17 am

it's complex. The students aren't keen to celebrate those who fought for the right to own people who look like them, so I go with the students. The history is still studied

9:21 am

can i have a clue for the ut words please?

9:22 am

ut6 and 7--the highest, then pluralize

9:22 am

Compound words

9:24 am

10:40 am

How are things in Scotland, re the pandemic, ata?

10:41 am

very slowly working our way out of lockdown, starting next week

10:43 am

we had our stores and salons open this week, but medical and dental is still emergency care only. I'm not sure I want to get my hair cut yet --- it is almost long enough to put up in a clip and we are both to old to survive a severe bout of this disease.

10:44 am

That's strange that shops are opening but medical/dental is only emergency care.

10:45 am

the hardest thing for me is not being able to visit the kids and grandkids -- haven't spent time with any of them since Christmas. We are being discouraged from travel and none of them live here.

10:46 am

10:46 am

It makes sense to me ori -- especially visits to the doctors' clinics where there is a high risk of exposure. Our doctors are making virtual consultations if there is no emergency or symptoms of anything serious.

ah, 2nd one, do5 though believe?

8:26 pm

I do!

8:26 pm

8:26 pm

8:27 pm

thanks for the grace...

8:29 pm

... I can remember an instance where someone just couldn't get anyone's clue for an 8 or 9 letter word ... and after about twenty minutes someone just said screw it and typed the word

Ah, yes, i recall that

8:34 pm

So Phan a month longer than me. :)

8:34 pm

... other way around

8:35 pm

well, paid date is what it records.

8:35 pm

so it does. I didn't think to look there... I have shared the better part of 3 bottles of pressecco tonight...

a bottle of wine a day roughly here. And i've killed a bottle of bourbon since March.

VABC, with two hours notice, delivers to your car, just park and call them.

8:37 pm

Hi Nrkii!

8:37 pm

hello, nrkii! nice to see you.

8:37 pm

... the thing with a bottle of wine a year is after twenty five years you should realize that you've spent between 200000 or a quarter of a million

8:38 pm

shhhhh....

8:38 pm

... sprry ... bottle of wine a day .... too many beers and the fingers don't work

8:38 pm

Oh, yes. My parents started giving me some wine when i was 4.

8:38 pm

I still have three cases of wine.

8:39 pm

I need to order some more wine...

8:39 pm

remembering to plural is impontant in this game.

8:40 pm

then there's the plurals with no singular, as too short.

8:42 pm

... ah well ... must be off ... I'm not working during the school shutdown ... but my wife's in IT and working diligently (in case her boss plays the game) and I've still gotta get up to make breakfast ... ... luck to all who continue the struggle ....,

8:58 pm

seain, I had my first alcoholic beverage in 3+ weeks today (maybe a month? it's been a while) It was nice to have a cocktail with a friend and not have to worry so much -- I had horrible stomach problems several weeks ago and I had to basically cut all my favorites for 2 weeks and then gradually add them back

8:58 pm

bye bye coffee, chocolate and alcohol...

8:59 pm

now I'm back with all 3 and the stomach gods have not taken any revenge ...

9:01 pm

I know it's a tiny grid so probably no takers, but if anyone needs a clue before I go, please holler

9:02 pm

9:03 pm

9:03 pm

thanks, phan!

9:03 pm

Did you have Covid?

9:04 pm

no, no Covid… I've been hiding in my house for 10 weeks :)

9:04 pm

oh Good! I did, but have been recovered by about a month or so...back kto nursing...

9:04 pm

oh, that sucks. A couple years ago i had a full GI reset, that was unpleasant, and it took a couple years of work to rebuild the gut biome.

9:05 pm

but through an odd set of circumstances, I just ended up with a quasi ulcer (self-diagnosed) and bad cramping on top of that, that went on for a few weeks

9:05 pm

how awful

9:05 pm

"full GI reset" sounds... interesting

9:06 pm

the UT 6/7 ppair?

9:06 pm

let's just say that I had a bit of a reset because I had my first ever colonoscopy, and nobody warned me that afterwards my GI tract might not take kindly to certain foods :)

9:06 pm

it was unpleasant the day it happened. Upside, managed to make no messes that needed scrubbing, beyond the bathtub.

9:07 pm

ah! yeah, that can be a thing. they should've warned you.

9:07 pm

not one single person said anything!

9:07 pm

If anything, I expected the OPPOSITE... dammit

9:07 pm

i have an an4. stats for the other?

9:08 pm

at 4/5

9:08 pm

oh, fishy. thanks

9:08 pm

so, live and learn. It took me a month to get right again -- meaning pain free and not relying on extra medicines

9:08 pm

that's a long recovery. ;/

9:09 pm

and today, I had 2 cups of coffee, some straight gin, and 100% dark chocolate, and I survived it all!

9:09 pm

yay! that sounds delicious

9:09 pm

that sounds awesome, Nrkii!

Sounds like a perfect Sunday to me :)

9:10 pm

can I get clues for the UT pair please?

9:10 pm

Probably would have been a 1-day recovery if I had been willing to go to a doctor and get a "GI cocktail" and/or other medical care. But I just did 2 telemed appointments and soldiered through.

9:10 pm

UT6 = highest

9:10 pm

Never mind, I see them

9:11 pm

in these times, that was probably the better option

9:11 pm

Thanks, Nrkii

9:11 pm

yeah, I'm immunosuppressed, so I'm not going anywhere that I don't absolutely have to go

9:11 pm

doh, that third F i should've had long ago. down to 9 more to find.

9:12 pm

time to go call my mom... happy babbling! bye!

9:12 pm

my sister is immunosuppressed, and been working at her grocery store, as always.

9:12 pm
