tx cybernan
I got the y. Thanks cybernan
Good news! "FOAD" is not considered a word! Yaaaaay!!
but how do you know it is a 4/7 until you get it?
FOAD means something mean, as I recall f*** o** a** d**?
i got the y, what the heck? i swear this is not english =)
kierlex - its not - its hebrew (i think)
Well, kier, there are places where you can get hints. Take a look at the bottom of the page here for help; the most popular is lickety's site, but I don't think he's posted yet today
yors
no, I think that one is the hebrew for one of the letters in their alphabet? for which no english equivalent exists...
liba, it is NOT a word. That's all we needed. :P
eww-sorry
I think it means hand. it's the thing used to keep your place when you read the torah
ohhhhhhhh. i see, thanks samantha. i just thought i was missing something right in front of me.
"YO**" is a transliteration
i'll be quiet now =)
stidmama~ do you ever take a break?
how many points would you get for finding transliteration?
me too-quiet
Heh. I'd rather you ask questions that wonder, and I think so would everyone else here.
LOL :)~
Samantha, that's the word my tiny brain was looking for... transliteration!
Dax, My calculator doesn't go that big
BGL, just about to! one more word and I'll have 100 for the evening.
I so want "bistro" to be a word today...
I want to stop at 100, too, but it's gonna take a while
100!!!! woo-hoo
and got it. 163 words for tomorrow, so I'll be on (and off and on) all day tomorrow... see you later!
and kierlex -- keep asking questions. It's the only way we can really be sure of our learning!
well, so much for fe, fi, fo fum...
ciao stidmama
ok.. thanks!
ciao!

have a good night, stid
transliteration would be 180!

evilolive, you have even too much spare time on your hand than I do
i'm just procrastinating. i'm supposed to be working
ever wonder what the most points you could get for a really short word? (Say 6 letters or less?)
6 letters - bezazz is worth 69
Toooooooooooo much time
100 left -- good place to quit for the night! -- see you tomorrow :)
Just looked at your profile, melon -- do you play the cello?
Melonhead is long gone, sorry
oh well -- will find out tomorrow? -- good night
i'm good with 112. will pick up again tomorrow. thanks for all the help. nighty-night.
hehe, i don't have that much time! i have a small program i wrote that gives me words that match the length/point value i need.
OK, then you are faaaaaaaar too obsessed :P
good night cybernan
its more fun than working!
And, excuse me for saying so, but based on some co-workers I've had, "toadier" totally ought to be a word
"Toadier than thou"
thanks for than samantha. had missed them. 4 more till 100 and i'll stop i think
I'm for toadier; more of a suckup
'zackly
got there. see you all later
any i hings for column i
Okay, over half finished. I guess I'll find the other 120 tomorrow. Goodnight.

Hello everyone
hello
cits
bits
pam, lets not put words in the Chat Log, shall we?
sorry, this is all screwy...tried to close chat box and ended up in it
Thanks, Douglas...
"It's sad, so sad, It's a sad sad situation, And it's getting more and more absurd, It's sad, so sad Why can't we talk it over? Oh it seems to me, ***** seems to be the hardest word..."
LOL thats a clue and a half!
thanks...
I recently opened a fortune cookie that said, "For a sure crop and an abundant harvest, sow wild ****."
Thats my hour of babble done found 109 words. Bye
"****** on the storm, ****** on the storm, Into this house we're born, Into this world we're thrown, Like a dog without a bone An actor out alone, ****** on the storm
I'm working on the ar words - I have the one meaning dry, and the one meaning drier, and the 'style used in opera' (apparently...)
184 on my first run through...but only 8 of the 20 7's!!! Means I'm not seeing the laregr patterns. Probably a lot of those maddening re's~!!! Hate re's!
matty, do you have ar5/12, sounds like an illegal drug used by baseball players?
I haven't gotten any of the re's yet, but it's a safe bet there are quite a few of them...
thanks for that fran!
resort
sorry!!!
thanks Eva! ;-)
sotimes we have to redo a paper
An illegal drug used by baseball players? Whilst I am a Mets fan, I've been away from the US for so long, I've no idea what the Daryl Strawberries of the 2000's are abusing these days...
when vacation we stay at a resort
judy!
don't GIVE the words!
matty, it's also used by bodybuilders
franny! did those clue help you
those aren't Clues judy.
judy-please don't enter real words in the chat log....we just give each other clues except when we make a mistake and type in the chat area when we didn't mean to.
it rhymes with the drug--actually means something to do with lilies
I was just helping . I wont help anymore sorry
matty, perhaps you remember Bobby Bonds of the Giants? A lot of people are rather upset with Barry Bonds, his son, now also playing for the Giants, on account of his using performance-enhancing steroids and allegedly lying about it...
Judy-helping is just fine, but a lot of the fun of the game is coming up with interesting indirect clues, and receiving them from others. Especially early in the day we try to not make things too obvious, so that everyone can have the fun and challenge of figuring things out. If you lurk and watch the chat log for a while for the first few times you'll get the sense of it. But please don't feel that you can't help!
Judy - you can help as much as you like - its more than welcome :-)
70 left and stuck for the moment.
Darryl Strawberry had a problem with performance-destroying drugs
There's a rather vulgar word in this puzzle...
Tsk I keep on repeating words, I say I keep on repeating words
Douglas - whats it begin with?
Ive no idea which seroid Bond used. Sigh.
It begins with t, CJ25...
matty it's not the drug--it rhymes with the drug--it means lilies
oh that seems to be in there a lot douglas. unforch
Female part? Got it if its T4 - 4
it's been in every grid this week
the 7's I have so far are: by7/48,ci7/32,di7/32,dr7/32,ra7/32,re7 /32,re7/28,ro7/28,st7/32,st7/28
But if one is going to be mad a Barry Bonds, one should also be mad at Mark McGuire, Rafael Palmiero, and the leadership of baseball for generally turning a blind eye to the whole affair...
Any other donations will be welcomed!
when I go to the ball park I want to see home runs. Now, if these idiots want to shrink their wankers to the size of a swizzle stick to entertain the world, I say ok
eva, ne7/32, means more dorky
thanks again fran!
another ne7/32 is some kind of nymph, water I think
can you give me a clue for by 6/33, i'm assuming th 7/48 is the plural
yup-water nymphs it is.
I was doing a crossword puzzle with my 12-year-old son, and one of the clues was "Person not likely to be invited to the prom." When I quickly filled in n4/5 as the answer, he said "Gosh, Dad, how did you know that one so fast?"
Fran - its by then what you use a vehicle on
fran-by + something one travels on. Never heard it before. And yes the 7 is the plural
Fran by + ro 4 and by + ro 5
thanks CJ and Eva!
douglas, is there a teenager in the world who doesn't feel like a geek most of the time?
"Being of the Conservative Party I like to ***** on and on never letting anybody get a word in edgewise until I start foaming at the mouth and falling over backwards...ohhh...
funny douglas!
the ne4/5 thing
You americans you
stadia isn't a word?
the 7 letter Di word - any clues?
It is Eva but there's only one A in the grid
I know because I kept trying to put it in LOL
woot! just got the 8 all on my own :)
Ah, but I really was a geek, still am really...
eva, ro6/21 and ro7/32 are an alternate spelling of a cowboy competition
what does woot mean? Please tell me so I can look cool tomy 13 year old
gee Douglas, never would have guessed. ;-)
wurdygurl, woot is the UK function equivalent of woo-hoo
woohoo kind of thing
thanks. I feel stupid I ask him what it means and he just says he cant tell me.
there's a good explanation of woot on wikipedia
CJ-sorry for the delay, was running on battery power and went into the death spiral there for a minute. The di7/32 sounds a bit like the single celled organisms that float in the ocean, but ends with a 4 letter t word that was the title of a disney movie about computers.
thanks Eva - will try and decifer that one for a bit
kateq-DUH! I keep inventing that xtra a. Would make things so much easier.
eva, clued on a ro7/32 at 6:00
fran-trying to figure out how to make anything longer than a 6/21 from that clue.
the first part is spelled like street
got it!
i've never seen it spelled that way, it doesn't come up in dictionary.com
One knows one has arrived as a musician when they have a ****** to set up their equipment...
a clue for the ad 5? I can't believe I can't see it...
looks like it might actually stop raining today. Are anyof the New Hampshire people like cliff online? Cliff, are you okay?
kateq, goodbye!
that's a clue, i'm not leaving
hasta la vista kate
Fran--thank you! now I feel dumb
whoa, huge grid....don't think i'm going to do this one!
i didn't find it until after i went for the list
hi featherbee!
this is really quite a nice grid....of course I probably won't feel that way trying to get the last 62. But it's been fun so far
hee, hi, i'm supposed to be getting ready to leave for work, just had to check on the weather, and then of course the grid
bye
bye featherbee!
Cliffopa-I see that you're online....is everything okay in your neck of the woods?
See you later today, featherbee
bye little otter friend
Eva got the Di7 thanks nice clues, had to think about it without giving too much away
I remember in the book To Kill A Mockingbird, the black maid used the expression "Puttin' on **** to beat Moses"
stole most of that clue from someone earlier on....
douglas-what's the first letter of that clue?
"You dun stomped on my heart And you mashed that sucker flat You just sortta stomped on my aorta"
oh my god there's a bit of sun!
Eva, a is the first letter of that last clue...
thanks douglas-think I already have that one
If its the same word for dry the a word then so have I
i think it's the plural of the stuff we breath
i'm going to turn in everyone. I have 44 left, but it's almost 1:30 am for me and i'm tired! goodnight
time to feed the cat and unstick my spine. see you later
Still working on the ar words - one is related to substance abuse in baseball, I gather?
night eva
Matty--it is NOT--it simply rhymes with the name of the drug
Night Fran and Eva

Is the site reacting at the speed of a dead ox for anyone else today?
Is the site reacting at the speed of a dead ox for anyone else today?
refresh
Yes, for me too.
Refreshed 4 times already and it doesn't make a difference.
wonder why we are having so many problems lately
Yes, it keeps stopping and not letting me enter words. I've just reloaded it.
I had to close ie and start it up again
frustrating
mr prez, the thing is: it all depends on the dictionary. the question is: what percent monkey-type? spanish & french words are in or out willy-nilly, so who knows?
Last night I was doing well, with only 30 words left to go, and it stopped altogether and I had to give up and go to bed. So frustrating!
I did the same with firefox, twice. Now it seems to be working again, though very slow. Don't know why this happens so often lately.
This new setup is very frustrating. I guess this is one way to get me over my obsession. I don't have the patience or time to have to completely shut down and wait for it all the time.
me neither SmithChick ...hi :)
Hiiiiiii smithchick, long time no see! And I agree :)
You're too early for me, sprite! I'm waiting for my kids to get ready for school, so I can only hang out for a little while.
Hey, Kallia!
"more like a frog-like creature" isn't even valid :( I do have some collegues that are T7 than others, I am sure.
laaaaaaaaag
Hey, capone!
heheh I tried that too Sprite...could swera it is a word!!
that was nice, I nearly got a fly in my mouth as I was yawning at the same time
wow it took 2 minutes to add my comment to Mmom

Hey, TO! Hey, evan!
suddenly saw them when I wasn't looking lol
Ack! I guess I better get off of here for a while...It wouldn't do to drive the kids to school in my robe! Back later!
by smithchick
ahhh, the refresh that pauses....(this may date me)
bye smith!
Bye smithchick, nice to have seen you for a sec ;)
I used to play cello. Badly
smithchick - i drive'm in my jammies all the time.
can someone please tell me the letter/points for the eight?
di 8/45
If my daughter apologises, she says F5. But she has no front teeth at the moment. Guess that's why it isn't valid.
how does the point system work?
ty
The point system is explained on the help page, CJ.
click on help for pt system
lol Sprite :)
cute, sprite
She is :)
eggs and sausage, it is!
is the 2nd ei 5 related to the rest of the ei's? i'm having problems making anything work.
First 3 letters are the same.
thanks, sprite
hi, all...I'm a bit more than halfway through the grid and off to the office. have a grand day.
do you have the ei words that refer to a very fancy comforter?
Bye Angel! :)
yes, i've got those melonheadjujube
need one more e on each e
one is a very long time, cj25
yep have that one...
From the left E, there is a combo of 3 that goes 4-5-6, and a 4th that is the same as the first 5, only other last two letters.

Are they all Ei's apart from one?
nere

110 so far. L8r
Bye melon

Ne4/5 has a comparative 7/32
ne 7/32 and no 5/12
ne 6/21 & ne 7/32
No 5/12 is the past tense of the no 4/4 before it
ok thanks - i have all excpet ne 6/21...working on it...that will leave one more
my words are not entering
morning abe:)
temple owl--there are two ne 7/32 (one of which is the plural of the ne6/21)--clue is sea nymph
hey bluephlox! i miss you!
r therir 2 ne7/32?
If you have ne 7/32 which is a plural, drop the final letter for the ne 6/21
i miss you too:) hang on
ty : )
nevermind, i signed onto aim but you aren't on
Need an re7/32. Not the one connected to hearths. Anyone got a clue?
when you go a vacation you stay at a
When you told the waiter what you want to eat and after a while another waiter comes and asks what you want, you must Re7/32.
Sprite, that was it! Thanks very much. 47 to go.
:) yw!
re 7 connected to hearhts? hmm...
re7 = A decorative screen or facing on the wall at the back of an altar; a retable. The back of an open hearth of a fireplace. re7 = re + re5/12
That is the meaning indeed. But the word looks like plural of to have to act again and then again.
I'm done! Any clues needed?
ty !
yay for Kateq!
yeah for kateq
Wtg Kateq!
are therre more than 2 re 7's please?
I'm back!
wb smithchick :)
wb!
Just in time to say YAY, Kateq!!!
TY!
There are 3 Re7s. Places to stay on holiday, the 2nd waiter one and the one I clued at 8.32 am.
ty sprite
thanks, everyone! Have a great day!
hi all - could i get a clue for the di8 please
it was 2nd waiter I was missing
it's the plural of the di7, sandr. Have you got that one?
nope - please clue me

Prince Charles' late gorgeous wife, plus headwear spoken by a Cockney, plus part of old song - Da-do-***-***
I don't get the second server clue
I'm missing one of the ai 6/18s - can anyone help?
I have Or6/7 combo very eloquent speaker(s)
good clue hydra!
*smakcs forehead* of course, if the or 7/36 is in there....
They're all connected to what we breathe, just fiddle around with the letters. Ta, smithchick!
when you get hurt you need first
And do you have the combo Od5/6 for small greek theater(s)?
yes, ty!
And Or + E4/5 (+ pl)

Ow, and the speakers have another 7 for the place they do it.
got it!
good day babblers
RAWR!
Hi burke...
And again problems with the site...
how's the grid today? nice or nasty?
Both!
The system is nasty, burke. I hate this new setup.
more connection problems :(
new setup? wot new setup? although its kinda laggy... on par with the lag during yesterday's grid...
Me too :(
takes the fun away somewhat
It's only been set up like this for a couple of weeks. Before that I didn't have to turn it back on 20 times a day.
And we did not enter words in the chatlog by accident. And we could hide the log if we wanted to.
Yeah, tell it sprite!
we should all lobby Dr God for the old setup back
You can still hide the chat log, by the way. The little icon after my friends lets you. I'll go for that Kallia!
I already did tell, smithchick, and was told off for daring to say it. So I remain silent now ;)
heya burke!
and we could just hide the icons too
hi abe =)
Are you serious? Well how rude!
That icon only hides the window in which one enters new messages, not the rest of the log.
Oh, I like to chat, so I hadn't even tried it.
personally I think maybe Dr God is a little ambitious with the set up...the server obviously has problems with it
More people have asked to at least find a solution for the frequent posting of words in the chatlog, but he says it is not really a problem, we should get used to it. And he claims almost nobody does it anyway. It gave me a fairly bad taste in my mouth, to tell you the truth.
I've done it almost every day at least once if not more!
well I see it a lot Sprite...I do it too of course!
Yeah, I think he measures it against the total of people that play babble, not against the frequent chatters. Which is... welll, never mind.
far more play than chat I think
is it mostly pros who chat does anyone know?
I chat and I am not a pro.
actually.. i would think that there're a lot more lurkers rather than those who only play and not chat...
I think it depends on the time of day
That's true, but the chatterers shouldn't be punished! I think it depends on the time of day. In the evening, there are a lot of non-pros that chat.
Not really, though most frequent chatters become pro after a while.
it seems like a mixed bag. yesterday evening was more non-pros
Whatever happened to the idea of sending an email to God (never thought I'd have occasion to say THAT) with loads of signatures on it?
I think burke is right.
Any help for re 7/32 I've got the fixer fixerupper
yesterday evening the site was BADDDDDDDDDD
The people online then all sent their own email, so it was abandoned.
so to lurkers> at the least, please acknowledge the hints that helped u =)))
I got off early yesterday because my kids needed the computer for school. I broke out the list to finish the last 15 so I'd be able to finish faster.
lol burke!
pgprovos, do you have the re/7/32 -restaurant one?
I finished mine off line smithchick...so I would at least have a chance to enter them lol
I do a lot of lurking when my hubby is home because it's faster than if I chat and he doesn't want me spending a lot of time.
No abe, that must be the one I need
Re7: tell the waiter what you want to eat again.
That's a good idea, Kal...I should at least print of the grid for the times when I can't stay logged on.
but thats ok sometimes isn't it? we all do that I guess
to put in order again
re7/28 where you go on a trip that
Hey, jbp!
I think those that want to chat, must chat, those that want to lurk, must lurk, those that only want to play, must ignore the chat. This is for fun, right? Just do it as suits you.
hey smithchick
oh jbp that is a little obvious
oh sorry Kallia. ;-)
i agree sprite. this is for fun...and procrastination from work!
oh I agree sprite...each to his own...or hersown as the case may be
i kinda do a lil bit of all sprite, i chat sometimes when the mood strikes, I lurk when i'm in a hurry or little time.
Hey, Praes!
I play every day and prefer not to chat. My time is limited and I just like to play. Although, I do admit when I am stuck the hints you guys give to help so thanks for that.
is the chatwindow zany for everyone, or just me --just got here
to ignore the chat is easy for me when i'm in the puzzle
Exactly, no strings attached to chatting or not. Lol abe ;)
abe, I still can't figure out the 7/32 restaurant clue
Hello smithchick
ah and I do enjoy it when you go off on sillies :)
pgprovos. the waiter comes back and says "we're out of salmon! would you like to re7/32?"
re 7/28 when you ask the waitress again for foodies
erm.. isn't silly conversation a norm on the chat box?
That never happens, Jatb! Really, never!
:) Jatb
Thanks abe. Why are they sooo obvious when you get a clue ;<)
Burke! May I remind you I am always serious, to the point and concise??!
yw pgprovos. it happens!
Ha ha smithchick .... I'm a Brit who misses the Brit sense of humour and when you lot start it does me the world of good!
LOLOLOL...of course you are Sprite...just like the rest of us !
redo
sprite> i call your bluff! =)
See, we've sucked you into the chat, Jatb! There is no escape!
Yeah, that's a good one :)
oops, sorry, wrong box ... see that's why I don't chat!
we all do that Jatb
Well, all of those of us who do chat have done that, I'm sure!
smithchick, was that evil cackling laughter at sucking jatb in?
*sprite's bluff runs to burke, right on call*
lol smith
Why of course, jbp...
jatb: now u are really one of us! LOL!
sprite> see? you're being silly already =) point proven =) QED
BWAHAHAHA
lol --coworkers are looking at me funny --AGAIN
That was serious! Now what I gonna do to get my bluff back, darn... call it, I suppose.
oh dear, there they go.....
LOL, jbp!
erm.. isn't anyone gonna do the "come, join us. join the dark side" speech?
bluff, bluff, bluff
bluff, bluff, bluff
Go ahead, burke...
Tsssss... now it's running to you, Kallia!
dark side...naa burke its the light side
smithchick> oh no, i humbly defer to the senior dark babblers
oh yes caught it...go on bluff back to yur owner....
How can rotaries not be a word? Enable, shmnable.
kallia> nah.. it is the dark side... u've gotta cut down your common sense before u join the chat =))
is that like, you know you want to chat. everyone's doing it. be a pro, it'lll make you feel real good!!!
senior dark babblers, that makes us sound like a bunch of palpatines!
I haven't looked for a word for the last 15 mlins I think
But you had fun, Kallia ;)
well you have successfully done that burke!!
any one know the y word? I tried ymca but the village people have it
oh yes indeedy Sprite :)
**Heavy Breathing** I am your babbler! **Heavy Breathing**
smithchick> well i'm but a 4 day old babbler.. i only started on sunday =)
LOL< wurdy!
ooh, praes...
ROFL, Praes...
maybe we should have a theme song "who let the babblers out"
lol Praes
Wow, burke...I thought you'd been on here longer!
hahahahaha praes
*prostrates before praes* oh... your mastery of the babble is beyond compare...
smith> yeah, i'm a little newbie =)
i am just glad the trolls from last week aren't here to read this! ;-)
Now look what we've gone and done, we've lost Jatb.
I'd be happy to be a little anything!
me thinks that praes be here for lil more than two weeks. **in his best jar-jar voice**
s/he'll be back. they always come back...
shouldn't trolls be cut up and fed to the buzzards?
Lol smith ... I'm trying to do the grid ain't I
burke is awesome!
abe> thank you =) i aim to please
hey burke, me and you are both young padwans
Multitask! You're a female, you can do it!
you've really only been here for four days?
seems longer burke!
yeah... i first did the mother's day puzzle.. the ridiculously simple one..
Good morning all. Wurdy, the "y" word sounds like slang term--dont know its meaning but the "yo" is followed by the fourth letter and then pluralized
Hey abe, did you just go pro?
HI hetty!
heh.. its the evil intentions that make me seem like i've been here for long?
hi Hetty
thank you hetty
Yes, that mothers day one was lame.
smith, its too hot to multitask!
gotta go feed a man......
Only 16 to go. I could find them, probably, if I started looking again at the grid and not at the chat, lol.
Hot? You must not be in Dover, Arkansas! Mild 60's right now warming up to low 70's later in the day.
i wanna make stadia...
Let him eat for himself, Kallia, he is a big boy, right? ;)
But where would be the fun in that, sprite?
smithchick, i went pro about 3 weeks ago, i think
sprite> now now, blame not the chatters. look towards oneself =)
True, smithchick :)
Haaa so not ... I'm in the caribbean and there is now wind ... its brutal
sprite you are WONDErfUL!! I have 76 left
73 with a high of 78 today in sunny clearwater florida
Good morning to all, anyone have a clue for st5/14, i have the one that tells a tale, I need the other one.
I wouldn't dare blaming you, burke :)
yeah Sprite...but he's off to earn the pennies....later guys
gah.. 198 left.. but then again.. i just started half an hour ago =)
Hi all. I'm trying a new method today because yesterday nearly finished me off. Just printed off licketys list and found it was doubled for some obscure reason, so I took that as an auspicious sign.
Marc, it's a anagram of the tale one.
*aN anagram
Hi, Marc...The caribbean sounds good. Hubby is in Miami.
Bye, Kallia!
smithchick, sorry i didn't see your question before. i've been pro for 3 or so weeks, how about you?
Hi Smithchick
Been here 14 years now and do love it but am moving up to the real world in august, to Vancouver Island, BC ...
hey smith - what's your icon?
I've been pro since about Aug. It's a Dover, AR sign...I haven't changed. I guess I'll go do that...back in a minute
I've got a song (as always) Sung to the tune of "The Campbells are coming. . ." THE BABBLERS ARE COMING HURRA, HURRA etc
Thanks got the st
"they're coming to take us away, aha, .... to the funnyfarm!"
~they spend all day in the grid
Jatb I just sent you a message saying we'll be neighbours and you must keep in touch, and it disappeared into the ether. That hapened several times yesterday too. Anyone else had her words gobbled up?
hetty, yep
ah hetty, where are you then?
Seems to be a problem with connecting to the server, hetty. Happens with entering words too.
and then, sometimes when they aren't, they appear again and again and again
Could't find anything I liked. I'll just remain the same...unchanged...
hey, freeman
Jatb, we live on Salt Spring Island, a short ferry ride from Victoria. You can find it on frappr.
So do I, smithchick ;)
smith: mine is in the grid!
drier
Yeah Shelly, good one!
ah yes, I'll be on the outskirts of Victoria, going there to continue my kids education
Good morning everyone -- just here for half an hour while I have my tea -- then I have to get cracking as we leave in 3 days and I still have a lot to do!
Ha cybernan! Long time no see :)
Hey, nan!
Hi Sprite -- what's the weather like over there?
hey, freeman!!!
hji cyberman... where are you heading?
Where are you going, again nan?
The Netherlands, Belguim, France and London
It is nice and sunny, has been for a week now. But I don't guarantee it will hold.
now it's taking words it didn't take before! i am so frustrated with this game
same ere
That's right...All places that I would love to go!
cyber... eat some good chocolate for me.
eres
oops
:)
eres
Hey dont come to london its raining !!!!
And Shelly too!
Oh I plan on pigging out on chocoolate!!!
great minds think alike
Won't hit London until July 3
M3, that's why I moved ... I'm originally from London
k, should be nice by then!!!!
Do you have a really large trunk that you could squeeze me into to take me with you, cybernan?
the weather sucks at the mo. you never know what will happen until it does.
Hi M3!
Hey, Rish, you're up early. Did the kids wake you?
hi
smithchick, I was picturing a car trunk...
M3 -lol -- we figured that out the last time we were in London -- a little like Vancouver!
yup. at 6
That would probably be big enough!
smith> there's gonna be a lotta odd questions to answer should the police stop the car... =/
Now you know what it is like. Fun huh.
oh, never been to Vanc. but hey if you bring shorts and wet weather gear your be ok lol oh and dont forger your wellies lol ok chat log crashed again !!!!!
oh, never been to Vanc. but hey if you bring shorts and wet weather gear your be ok lol oh and dont forger your wellies lol
so its not just my chat that keeps going a bit strange
Hi, nan. you'll be taking the same kind of route we travel on i November, only we're going round the world--main purpose being Christmas in Australia with our youngest
Hi, nan. you'll be taking the same kind of route we travel on i November, only we're going round the world--main purpose being Christmas in Australia with our youngest
so its not just my chat that keeps going a bit strange
I hope it's not me -- everytime I just get started the blasted log breaks down!!!
is e1 getting a coloured part with connection error on it
wow
smith - if only the airline would allow a piece of luggage that size! ;)
can someone please tell me what the 8 starts with. thanks.
refresh, shelly -- if that doesn't work log in and log out again.
Hey now...no need to get personal nan!
soda
"Word couldn't be added. Contact Dr_God." Sure... to be told it happens in less than one percent of the minutes and I should get used to it, probably. :) Took 10 minutes to get the page back, with refreshing, relogging and restarting firefox.
Logging out and then back in seems to be faster.
oops. wrong spot.
That never happens, Alien...huh, sprite?
cheers done it
city
It happens to me about once every half hour -- most annoying!
wrong box lol
Have you finished, Shelly?
Never, smithchick! ;)
yeah, thanks
Shelly is on a roll!
u jokin arnt u never finished one yet(but only been playin about 2 wks
anyone got the alpha numeric for the 8?
Di8/45
i was till i spoke lol
thanks sprite
Oh, well keep at it and you will. It helps if you have no life like me.
hey, marc, how many are you at?
hope so
LOL smithchick! You'll get the hang of it, Shelly. After a while you know so many babblets that you can fill in half the grid witout looking :)
M3, I've just seen your disparagint remarks about weather in Vancouver. It may indeed be wet in the shadow of the coastal range, but I'll have you knbow we have a microclimate west of the mainland, record hours of sunshine (for Canada) every year
Now hetty, don't get het up!:)
what hetty says is true, hit the interior of BC to be baked alive
Hi, english...
You aren't by any chance referring to Victoria? --- seems to me Vic get's almost as much rain as Vanc!
hullo
its hammering down here
hi there englishcanuck
Rain? We beat you all, here in Holland, lol. Rains almost every day here. Okay, I am lying. Every other day. :)
Nice, sunny summer morning in the okanagan!
Ok -- I'll pack a brolly!
partly cloudy here
i was out in kamploops a couple of weeks ago and it was fantastic. whereas right now im back in toronto and its finally getting summery here
Have 149 words and have hit the wall --- may have to cave in and go to the lists on this one.
I just heard someone say that our Summer this year took place in the last week :) Not to discourage you, nan, of course. If you are lucky, you have a few beautiful days here in a row. It happens :D
lol -- the last time we were over, we were told by the chaplain at Craithes church that 6 weeks of dry weather wasn't good luck -- it was a "bloody miracle"
May I have a clue for the di 8, please? -- must accomplish something for my morning visit!
gah.. i keep seeing idoyt as idiot....
hydra had a brilliant clue: Prince Charles' late gorgeous wife, plus headwear spoken by a Cockney, plus part of old song - Da-do-***-***
And then pluralise.
cybernan, the term has something to do with science, so I'm not able to give a meaning. Start with a greek prefix (di + first vowel) and move on to a fasy walk for people or ponies in which you change the "t" to an "n"
Done! Can I help with clues before I leave?
ty, sprite
and hetty
two more d's to find!
any other weirdo d's
YAY, sprite!!!!
The D-combo that ends in vermin?
ok, i'm 85% done, i am willing to risk looking at the chatbox now.
hiya everyone!
hurshy! :) *hug*
Hey hurshy and bex!!
hi bex and hurshy
AND bex! *hug 2*
(((sprite))) (((smith))) (((abe)))
(((((BEX))))) :)
just missing one now -- but don't have one that ends in the pied piper's vermin if that's what you mean
{{{{HuRsHy}}}}}
De5/12 - 6/21 combo ending in those little pests, indeed.
lol
i have the vermin ones but i'm still missing a d, even after getting those lovely clues for the 7/8 combo
oops got them --- was looking at the wrong box -- still need a lot more d's!
You aren't being Da4/8, are you hursy?
indeed not, how could you think such a thing sprite?
sprite- hurshy is always being da4/8 :)
sprite> great clue... coupled with a hidden insult =)
:O
:) And of COURSE you did all your pluralising right away.
I want to switch the positions of the r and the i!
yes sprite, i don't believe i have any plural fish, i just checked.
why is Norse not a word?
good afternoon everyone:)
hi jean
because you just capitalized it
Which one can you be missing then? Where the dragons live? :)
Bul, because it needs to be capitalized.
ok then why is norse not a word... hehee
ok
When you get off of a ra4/7...Are you not dera4/7ing?
where the dragons live??
you mean the same place bears live, i have that
Hey, jean!
ah, like where we have the tv
I'd say you would be, smithchick. hurshy, do you have Do5/16 that rhymes with what my age will be in a few months?
i kept trying to find the "l" for lair
thanks sprite, that was it!!
I cant believe the improvment on the site I gave up yesterday
*sprite scores again!* ;P
good one sprite!
:)
Well, don't speak too soon, jean. I've already had to log back on three times in as many hours.
sprite i have one easy B but cannot find the other 2
oh no thought it was too good to be true lol
Then get off the highway, hurshy.
ahhhhhhhh
TY, sprite...
any clues for to 6/18
take the scenic route, hurshy!
To + flower
i don't get the hi-way thing, sprite...
thanks again, spritely
ahh. thanks sprite
still don't get the hiway thing tho
sprite, can you tell me how many words are re-something where re is actually used as a prefix?
nevermind, jbp -- Hurshy is so clever we make our clues for her a little more obscure.
great clue, sprite
Have I ever mentioned that I hate vowels?
If you really did, you would be smthchck.
r w bnnng vwls gn? tht ws fn!
I'd say 7, hurshy.
sprite> u see, smithchick may hate the vowels.. but they love her so they're sticking to her =)
dang, i need 3 more then.
ll, brk
3 more what, hurshy?
thought you were looking for two b's!
re's that use re as a prefix. i have a 4/5 combo, a 5/16 and a 7/32.... oh a found the b's as soon as sprite clued.
*i
can you clue in a mortal as to the b words?
make again
if you go in a car as opposed to a plane, you go b* ****
Let's see. Make up your hair again and plural. Unwet again. Tell the waiter what you want to eat again. Cover with turf again. The combo where you stay on holiday. And the hairthing over again, but that isn't really a re as in re now, is it?
thanks Hursay & sprite!!!
oh you're counting the holiday ones! wait what is the hair thing over again?
That's what you find behind a hearth, hurshy. I think it is a babblet.
thanks for the help all --- must go and get the heavy cleaning done before I go for my manicure :) -- later
But the word looks like it should mean make over again again.
Not sure what you mean by the holiday clue...
Bye nan!!
dont forget the movie by warren beatty
cyber --don't break a nail
*make overs
THAT is an odd one.
I agree! :)
Bulasteve: heaven can wait?
ok then i needn't worry about prefixes anymore... i think... unless ON... ?
not Bulworth
matty: place frequented by people for relaxation or recreation, and plural. Re6/18 - 7/28.
No on as prefix.
just reached the halfway point
well that is lovely. if only i didn't still have so many words left. :)
Yeah for jbp!
sprite, i'm also missing an N, and don't need a plural fish...2 to do with proboscis... what might i need?
what warren beatty movie??
My favorite odd one for today is M5/20.
that was one of the first words i got, sprite :)
Do you have the Ne7?
iindeed, sprite. thought I never would use that word again after a "politics of the middle east" class 20 years ago
so you mean there are 2?
no ne, sorry]
There are two. One is a comparative.
and hurshy, what n-fish? how many letters?
lol @ jbp, to think sprite would be asking for a clue at this late hour
more of a geek for the ne7/32
oh my, how fishy of me!
i was kidding, hursh... you and sprite rule!!!
that just proves sprite is ne7 than me
*/me kicks hurshy!*
help with the M words anyone ?
ohhhhhhhhh..... how ruuuuuuuuuwwwwwd!
Oooh - got that one (could also mean to regroup, if you think laterally). I'm still stuck on one of the ei (the last one)
hehehe
matty, do you have the pillow one?
thinks ducks
M-words: 1. have to. 2. have to-ic. 3. the 2 spoken by my little girl (who has no front teeth at the moment)
Yep - I have the first three - where each one adds one letter to the word previous - now after the final 5/12 Again - I've monkey typed around, and I'm sure I'll kick myself when I get it...
matty: take the first one. Pluralise. Then change last vowel.
yay, 30 to go!
i'm so glad you finished before i started to chat, sprite, so that i didn't have to be humiliated again.
Yep. I feel stupid. I'm sure I've seen that word before, as well.
I would never humiliate you. Wouldn't dream of it. Nor think of it. That's far beneath me. Really.
ha!
i still don't get the ei clue, sprite...
It is a babblet, matty, I agree totally. Strange one.
i am disturbed that so many r's remain despite no more re-stupidheadprefixwords
is that the technical term, hurshy?
yes
lol
I guess I need another clue for the mu5/20. I am d***.
ah, I monkey typed the ei one...thanks!
it's what soldiers wear
Good!
i mean, when they are out of uniform.
Tighty Whities?
If soldiers are out of their uniforms, they are naked, I think.
Hope.
Boxer briefs?
noooo.... this is the term for civilian dress when worn by soldiers.
Speedos?
mu 5/20... a slang term for women's privates + what the brits drink in the late afternoon (phonetically)
civvies?
smithchick, you have the Mu5/18, right? Say it without front teeth and change the spelling of the last vowel.
finally got it...Thanks!
sprite, i need some help with my left i-words. :(
sprite - have you been on all day?
i have the eye ones and made angry
Let's see. You have the babblets, the mad ones, the greek letter.
jpb - brilliant clue - shame Ive got that
CJ: no, I went to work today. Only started this afternoon.
babblets???
how many mu words are there?
i don't think i do, i know all the i's i have.
okay - I have been - got over half which is a miracle for me
three, jbp
any clue to the first ne7/32??? last one I need...cant even monkey type it
The eye ones. Do you also have the eye one extended to 6/21?
ah, then ok. thannks, smith
Hey, ouwachita!
no not the 6
hi smithchick
ouwachita: more of a geek!
ne7 geek some more
thanks sprite
wtg CJ! More than half is good!
what i 6/21, aprite?
What about the other ne7?
it was too obvious
Nothing personal of course, ouwachita ;)
DONE...any one need a clue??
:D
how many ne 7s?
YAY, Ouwa!!!!!!!
I want adore to be on here!
never been called a geek before...first time for everything
ador
oops...that didn't happen
not that it was a real word, but still it didn't happen
LOL! Of course not. It never happens.
There is really nothing wrong with being a geek. I take umbrage!
geekier
That didn't happen either...
nothing happens... ever (sigh)
ty clues?
Okay, the i6s. One is extended eye one. The other one is plural of i5/12 decree of the Sultan.
hey, aknitter...
greetings chick
decree of the sultan! aha! now if i can just figure out how to extend the eye one...
TY, sprite...that leaves me with one i off the fourth row (or is that a column)
hurshy: only differs one vowel from the plural decree.
4th row 2nd column I'd say :)
what do you mean by extended eye one? si am so so so confused
*blush* *stupid hurshy*
just make the eye one plural, hursh.
studpid word
jbp, I lost a message again. It's about mu5/20--can't figure your clue and am mystified, please help
hey mab - no there was this six, it has an extra vowel... app all mailed?
Hi, mab!
jbp: i4/5 part of the eye (when used in longer words) i5/12 plural i6/21 insert an extra vowel.
am i really the only one who's heard the mu5/20 before?
the i words... decree of a sultan? what extended eye one???
hi dear all. I knew mu, but I did'nt know the first part was a slang word for, you know.
Is that brit-speak, jbp?
yes, me too mab, and would rather have not known!!!
neither did I, mab. I feel educated by hurshy in this area :)
hurshy I thought it had an e in there
spritey spritey aphrodite, i miss one T, what d'you suppose...?
ok, sprite does the i/4 have to do with one of the 7 deadlies?
i haven't got any t7's so if there are any that's it
jbp: the sultan decree is ong angry or violent speech, usually of a censorious or denunciatory nature; a diatribe, minus first letter. Then pluralise.
which o the deadlies starts with i???
I'm still lost in this dirty mu stuff.
mab --anger
hurshy: no t7s. Could it be T4/5 T + german out?
i'm sorry i'm so dense, but i think i'll have to consult my monkeus
i dunno - i don't speak any german.
oh, that one.
hetty, think of mohammed for the mu.
hurshy: anagram of cars without o.
but maybe, cause the 4/5's i have are greek letters, and like a boys name kinda, and walked.
oh then i have that - silly sprite, greek letters i know.
The greek letters one I meant.
i only have one ti...
Well, they are all pretty obvious, actually. No, I am NOT humiliating you. Do you have To + flower, the T6/18?
ani ideas any1?
mab, I'm thinking Mohammed, but he's not female and there's no "ali"
yes i do have that sprite
hurshy: no problem, that one Ti is plural, so you will have just enough.
that's my only t6
where's atalante, she's full of ani ideas...
Then you need a plural, hurshy. Tr5/10 makes Tr6/18 too.
moses supposes his toes's are ro4s, but moses supposes erroneously.
Wish I had a bit fewer ideas, actually.
good GOLLY.
owwww mab, nice!
hmmm, i still need 4 7's. are there an f7's?
*any
Nope.
farie
oops
a7's?
how come it won't take fairie??
fairy, faerie, not fairie
nope
thanks hurshy... i thougt I was losin' it
so they're all r's s's and o's... bother. i already have so many of those.
How come it won't take FAIRE?
jfarber, what meaning do you propose for faire?
Should it?
that's french
Damme, ye modernist! Ye olde spellings usually work!
As in Ren Faire?
mab... um, but we've had other language stuff here too... at least faire is an archaic spelling in english. unlike some of the other words...
i tried faire as well, living in a historic area faire is everywhere LOL
hurshy: 6x R7
aknitter...LOVE THE ICON!!!!
thats me!
two more R then...
Great icon indeed! :)
don't try to decipher the dictionary used here jbp - it will drive you starkers.
Hi. I'm back for my last word, an re7. (I have the one about telling a waiter what you want again.)

Hi Jacula and stid!!

Hursh - try using an ro4 word to start that is something cars go on.
There is, hurshy. Think of the B-words.
omg, that is so silly, Jacula (not u, the rod itself)
ralph vaugh williams - ro5
that is quite dumb.
jbp - True.

you mean, I'm wierd, stdm. s'ok.
*sighs along with Jac* Those were the days, my friend ;)
you're telling me there are SIX O7???
What is the value of the higest scoring word
jbp - Thanks! Got my fireworks now. Forgot that silly ass of a word!
no, just that for some reason "ralph vaugh williams" meant something to me... THAT was weird!
Yes :D
YAY Jacula!
it's the cowboy festival; vaugh williams wrote a piece of music....
MISS MOLLY IS HAVING QUITE THE DAY
woo hoo jacula! i have 116 left
WooHoo, Jacula!!!

do you mean aaron copeland??
oops
Jen: B7/48 is highest today, D8/45 is longest.
yes, copeland.
I have 156 left...
i can not figure this clue out --- re + do over. then re _ that. then plural HELP ME!!!!
i have 2 speaking ones and one at a restaurant, sprite, are the other 3 weird or normal?
any clues on either of those
that's what i get for free associating. at least in my head.
redo.. add a prefix to make it to redo again
aknitter: make over your hair again again.
then add the plural ending
Speaking of work, I'd better get some done. Might bbl.xx
*gasps at jbp*
later Jacula!
hey she wrote redo....
i was just answering her
ahhh i am too thick grrrrrr i have tried to redoagain
(she says not at all abashedly, well, ok maybe a little, and her coworkers really are looking at her funny)

hurshy: 2 weird ones, one even more boring one.
ok clue me up on the weirdos
aknitter... *smack!* move on...
don't hurt yourself, aknitter. you ok now?
The weird ones: alloy of copper, zinc, and tin, used in imitation gold jewelry, and plural. Plus alternative spelling + plural.
*tosses some coffee beans at aknitter to wake her up*
sprite... vermeil?
i am fine now, just a temporary moment of insanity
too musch setrogen inhere
estrogen
The cowboy piece was written by Aaron Copeland, not Ralph Vaughn Williams
lol
i am going to remember that next time it's like the potatoes.
thought you might have been drinking, Praes.
jbp???
What's wrong with estrogen?
There is no such thing as too much of a good thing, Praes ;)
nothing, i just looked over at the chat and all i saw was pink ladies
i'm frenchie!
You've got a whole harem here, Praes. What are you muttering about :)
Pink is an excellent color...I'm Sandy...
Praes, then you need to help recruit blue purses!
jpb already pointed that out godthhab -- rub it in, go ahead. just go right ahead
sprite, stupid hurshy can't figure out what's more boring...
mab, i believe they're called European Carryalls
none of my pals have an obession with words like i do
Yesterday purple hats and now blue purses. . . gotta get me a pink lady
it's okay mab -- I like both composers myself, and translated the one to the other just fine!
they're people. they're little people.

shift and the [ key
PEOPLE

hello ARB!
I hate people every time I get in my car to drive. Every stupid, moronic person on the road ends up in front of me...or next to me pinning me in behind the stupid, moronic person in front of me.
there's no R close enough for SMs I think...
Bye, Sprite! It was good seeing you after all this time!
smithchick, wow, was that you in front of me this AM? ;-)
HI, ARB!
Hi all, Just came into the conversation and can't find the thread -- pink, purses, purple -- is it p's and q's?
smith said a woooooord smith said a wooooooord
**blushes** well actually at my 2nd job i carry a BIg blue tote that has my cards and pewter in it. **flips wrist**
why is toadier not a word, as in being more of a toady???
smithchick -- where do you live ? I want to be sure and drive the other way
it's called a murse
Praes was bemoaning the lack of blue purse icons...
jbp -- because the enable dictionary doesn't know you?
abe, no, that's a bro.
*oh dear, did I really send that?*
The lack in terms of finding them or in terms of using them?
wondered that too jbp
stidmama, quite possibly
it's a man bag jbp
Praes -- cards and pewter?
no SM's today?
Also no sm's
maybe a kilt to go with the man bag?
ok, i'm going to lunch. back anon for more witty banter and torture...
later jbp!
bye jbp
Sorry about the rant there. Bye jbp... I usually limit my road rage to glaring and under-my-breath name-calling.
do you live in miami? they have topped the worst driver list, just on the news
I'm really fine to share a road with as long as people are going the speed limit, or aren't going under it in the fast lane.
I saw that...I think they need to drive around in Arkansas.
smithchick, I think those people believe they are the pace car at the races
i think i'll stick to driving in massachusetts -- we've improved so it seems!!
LOL, gramma!
I think the accident rate in Miami is due to all those old folk living in the sun
hurshy, I did more than 100 words listless... but not having fun anymore that way ... I keep seeing biscuit and it's not there... back in a moment with Lickety
Hursh how are you managing? I got to 140 without a list this morning and then caved in
ah, that's better -- two words right away...:-)
I feel so much smarter when half the answers are right there!
I'm down to 49 left with no list.

They are yummy. All beef and plump. Mine today had swiss cheese and grilled mushrooms. I'm actually thinking the spicy cheese fries (that I didn't order but ate some of Greg's) is what is bothering me.
hi ch1212!
Hi Ch who is your Icon ?
nevermind!
ditto Temple Owl and faeriekae. Hi stidmama
Mine is the singer of a song that has made more "top ten WORST songs ever" -- Mary MacGregor, who sang her one and only 'hit', "Torn Between Two Lovers"
i'm still missing 3 f's temple, so let me know if you uncover any weirdos
i cant find his cousin on google images

I think I need to quit going to lunch with my husband - It puts my babbling behind schedule<G>
dinks, the clue I took the 8 from was something like this: Spanish for day + sci-fi movie title about being in a computer, plural
oh abe, i LOVE him
Excellent clue ch
ch, that was a great clue!
8: di + first vowel +crosslike letter + 3 letter male name + plural letter

you got it, jfarber!

although we didn't start with a subject so it's incomplete but i'll add one in and sum it up for you...
LMBO
such a long sentence probably deserves a simple subject. Like, um..."it."
hurshy...why do you look so familiar?
deef rides swiftly across the evanascent meadow with serveral enthusiastic purple lemons, limes, and oranges.
Isn't "he" understood? As the subject I mean
well i put deef in since she (he?) started it.
any clues for ad 5/12?
*glances nervously around* i don't know sparky, what do you mean?

Well a while ago, hursh, before you started making weird sentences there was something about over the meadows and through the woods-maybe it was someone else. But your purple limes and lemons seemed to fit somehow. Never mind
ty gramma -
no hetty, that WAS the making of the weird sentence. it was a little game, people were contributing to the sentence word by word.
the first mu is making me crazy - any clues?
What grandma's basement smells like
something you wear on your hand followed by a cup of something Brits drink
going to really focus into the grid. I want under 100 words left when the kids get home. Still listless
ls1, what civilian dress worn by soldiers is called
bye everyone! see you soon!
later TempleOwl!
what does that soldiers thing begin with ?
bye TO
Well I can't keepup at the best of times--0my clues are always way behind everyone else's because I have these dumb stiff fingers --so as for making sentences, I'd be at the end before I began, if you see what I mean. Lovely fun, anyway
mu

It's still raining here so I can't plant flowers

Hetty -- your clues are always well thought out and clever without being too easy... and lots of time yours is the one that helps (me, at least)
MM - absolutely tipping it down here
later faerie *why did she have to mention weeding!*
Hannah brought me a petunia for Mother's Day but I haven't been able to get it in the ground yet.

smith there was an alt spelling of the alloy with a different vowel after the r
and then there's that southern way of saying that one pig was feistier than another
or maybe bees would be better than pigs.
I'm southern and I have no idea what you're talking about!

The other is past tense of se4/4.
It wasn't in the grid but I sure wanted it to be

is the st 6/21 that is the past tense of walked the first, second, or third st 6/21 on the list?
third, scribbledy dibbledy
Great book - Marion Zimmer Bradley - though she does irritate me on occasion. Have you read any Stephen R Donaldson?
third, scribbledy dibbledy
re + re4/5 + plural letter
I love Mists of Avalon
I wish people would recognise MZB's other books - so many people just know her for the Avalon books
I love Mists of Avalon
oops.
i have the 6/21 past of walked and looked, what am i missing ( a fish, i'm sure)
thanks hursh! :) oh....hi, by the way.

how come when I refresh, some of my words go away?
Gawd - when I was in my teens and twenties, it was Darkover she was known for. Ever read Hawkmistress?

Even with a goalkeeper down?
oops, abe, i meant the 5/16...had the 5/20
Yep...is this working...
is the grid slow for everyone or is it just me
plural so 4/7 before it
hi Haz!! ... hoping this Wednesday will be better than last... :)
Dead slow. Right - back to MZB - babbler - you still here...
can anyone help with the st 6/21, not past tense of walked or looked
Hello sherb - I wasn't going to mention last Wednesday!
what's the other so 5/16, either right before not hards
the pain does ease over time...!
MATTY! someone else who knows her other books! Hurray!
i have 200 words, so5/16
I love Darkover ... and I've got pretty much all her other books apart from some really rare ones etc
ty, abe
Darkover (Hawkmistress was my favourite) - and of course the short story books she edited - Sword and Sourceress...
thanks Abe --and way to go!!
yw bookgrrl and jbp
I really liked the Heritage of Hastur. ANd I really liked some of the shorter sci-fi books she wrote like the Falcons of Narabelda. And Lythande
wow, I couldn't get in for ages! I'll look for those books, thanks! I have 'Ancestors of Avalon' to read next... : )
so 5/16, not the apology
and The Forest House is great too
Thing that irritates me about MZB is that she's SOOO feminist, the agenda enters every book she writes. On the other hand, of course, Anne McCaffery has HER strong women all fall in love and get married and realise that all she needed was a strong man. There was no middle ground for those two in the eighties. Hey Babbler - How's Liege and Lief going?
me neither babbler...have emailed Dr God it's getting very frustrating
yeah ... but I think I'd rather that than McCaffrey-ism!
Yah well. Still, the Dragonriders of Pern (the original series) was kinda cool. Anyone read Stephen R Donaldson?
so5/16 - (a) so4/7 (not hard) + 1st vowel. (b) so4/7 + sometime vowel.
hehe, Liege and Lief is going great. I've been mixing them up and now I'm on The Deserter. Another fave. I agree about how feminist MZB is. And Guinevere is REALLY irritating me! LOL
I love Thomas Covenant. not so sure about his others ....
woohoo, 2 left
When first I deserted, I thought myself free, until my cruel comerade, informed against me...
but MZB's time of earlier writing was a very feminist time ... so I suppose its not surprising to see reflected in her writing
did musicmom leave? SMF, you here????
hurshy, can you clue me on the st 6/21. not past of looking or walking? i'm desperate
well, my dinner's ready, so I must away. Matty, I noted your birthday. (at least, I hope it updated before the site went crazy). Laters, guys! : )
ro 4/4 just before the pretty flower please?
The first Covenant series rocks, the second isn't so good, but I enjoyed Runes of the Earth, and am looking forward to the next in the series. I'm on his website (kinda).
yes, Ata, she was writing in the early 80s? late 70s?
bye Babbler, sorry I missed you.
ro 4/4 anagram of pretty flower

Twice the box has gobbled my request for help with re5/16 HHHEEELLLPPP

apologies everyone I was trying to help but got booted
keelhauled thru cyberspace
I think we all got booted
When you wash the clothes, if you don't set the timer for enough minutes, you have to re 5/16 the clothes.
I've told them there
I do like the way you can just keep typing in words and it stores them up and eventually they appear in the list...
Hey Munner, you doing okay?
I HATE the fact this goes hinky at times and I really, really have to go soon with 99 words left. AND I've got a terrible film on.
's been a problem with the game ever since the redesign. It keeps completely freezing up on me. "God" said there was nothing he could do.
How 'bout getting back the old design?
wow it says I have 2 -9 letter words but it also says ther are none LOL
Hi, smithchick. Not a great report--will find out more when the final report is in.
old site has gone poof
I thought it was because I use a Mac-guess not
(((munner)))
And I have 3 8-letter words an there is only 1
I'm sorry to hear that, Munner... I'll continue to pray for you. {{{hug}}}
A few minutes ago, it told me I had less than a minute to play...
interviewer: did the best team win? thierry: non
Ok, this time you can't blame me for breaking the chat! LOL I just got home. Hi everyone!
logic, logic, logic. logic is the beginning of wisdom, babblers, not the end. we must have faith.... that the babbleverse will unfold as it should
Hey, Deutsch
I'm missing a letter now, and loathe to reload, as it takes FOREVER.
thanks, I needed that today. I'm delaying telling my kids until I have to. My daughter-in-law says their little 2-year-old prays every night, "Munner better"
doyic
Hey at least we were good losers on Saturday :)
hi deutsch...no, I'm feeling paranoid as this site seems to go bananas everytime I play...
dang, how do we make a sentence with doyic?
There I go... If I'm gonna post words, it would be a lot less embarrassing if they were real words.
Hi I got booted too. I coul;d actually only get in through the old site!
Dr G told me that I had 2 players w/ same email & that it was supposed to be impossible- had to off 1 player... poor Baafour
Hi smith, don't worry, I tried it anyway! LOL
fireworks! Folks I gotta go feed the kids. It is ceramics night. May be back to chat later

fu6/33 being 5/22

Bs are side streets
Thanks, Hursh and oggy...why could I not see that?
Going crazy, guys. Need clue for ro4/4 one of the last 3. Have te roster and have the decay ones. Help please?
I'm all wet behind the ears
thanks smaller!! ...I'm Titania...
anyone have a clue for the last or second to last AI 6/18?
ooo thank you thank you are sooo smart!!
mary, do you have the flower?
ro 4/4 is a flower
Fran add the plural letter to your 5/10
mary, do you have a little lamb?
those three ro4/4's all have the same third letter also Mary
that ai 6/18
ai6/18 - either plural means of drying clothes, or more ai*y
fran, do you have the one that sounds like error?
i have that one snowy
yes smaller
I have oa5/12, oa4/4, od5/12, od6/21, od4/5, on7/28, on4/4, or4/5, or6/18, or7/28, or7/36, or5/12, or7/32, or6/21, or6/21, or7/32, or6/21, or7/32, or4/4, ot4/5
bbl - got to get fuggles out for his exercise
brb, baby wants her bottle
smith missing oa4/7
re5/16- to make less wet, again
Mary - the ro4/4 you may be looking for is French for roast - decay plus the third vowel
first ir 5 & 6?
TY, hursh:)
and smith missing or 4/5 combo between the 6/21s
the other one starts with the same three letters and has the 'more' ending
ir5/12 and 6/21 - add ending of what you make with lemons and pluralise
I love ya, hursh!
thanks Haz, you're a star!
Finally done with the vowels. 4 to go.
irmeringuepie?
You're welcome, ylleria - back home again!
Haz - why was it you were up in Edinburgh?
cause it's hard to be down in edinburgh!
ty all got it
boom boom!
WooHoo, go sherb!!
sherb - you got mail : )
My daughter is at university there. She has finished for the summer holidays and needed to get her stuff home as there's no room to store it until her new flat becomes available in July. It's going to be third floor as well!
ok Babs :)
More fun for you, huh Haz?
oh babbler, people yesterday were requesting a princess bride theme day.
Anyone have a problem with Babble ,evry day it just wont load.so anywhere between 2oclock i cant use babble ,i finally got babble tru IE any advice
Fun? I kept thinking about the virtues of minimist living!
ground floor student flats are pretty hard to come by. Is she at Edinburgh Uni, or one of the others?
princess bride? as in the film? (still haven't seen it!). okey doke! : )
hursh - who requested it, can you remember?
Hi Haz, glad you're safe home again after those dizzy heights. Your clues are great as always. Hugs
She's at Edinburgh, ylleria.
umm...i dunno, i quoted it and then people started talking about it... douglas maybe? i'd have to check the log.
out of curiosity, what's she studying, Haz?
Thanks hetty - it's always nice to see home again and get a doggy welcome back.
ok, well, I'll add it to the list and we can credit it later, k? : )
She's studying business studies with a course in philosophy for good measure!
or you could just say "by popular demand" cause when it was suggested other people chimed in and agreed
Yvo, we're ALL having problems with Babble. Good thing the babblers themselves are so reliable. OI don't know whether Dr_God is hearing our grumbles, or whether he can fix things.
nah, someone had the idea first, I like to give the right person their due credit. ; )
I studied biology/zoology at edinburgh, totally different area - probably even on a different campus most of the time too.
finished....lots of words, but mostly normal ones....mostly......
od 5 & 6?
Back again, Fuggles not happy as he has been on his own for two days!! Hi Haz :)
there's a big difference between mostly normal and all normal...
thank you Hetty sometimes i wish the old one was back
I refuse to believe that the two that I am still missing are normal...They must be obscure!
She's at George Square - as I was many moons ago. Her dad studied at the Vet College, which I believe has now mostly moved out into the country.
ylleria *** ** a grecian urn, and pl
with mostly normal, it's slightly weird. with all normal... well with all normal there's usually only one thing you can do... go through the grid and look for loose words
or, think cineplex....
I've just checked your profile to make sure who Fuggles is!
a very very very sulky hamster, I'm only back for two nights and then up to Scotland on Friday, Lord knows what sort of mood he will be in on Sunday :)
any help please with the first ro6/21 and ro7/32
And how does a sulky hamster behave?
a really weird way to spell where cowboys show off, mo.
hmmm, not sure I know any names for grecian urns that begine with od... or even any names for grecian urns full stop :s
Mo - they're the same as the ro5/12 wild west shows but with an extra vowel inserted
no no ylleria, it's a poem title "*** ** a grecian urn"
General refusal to leave cage, hiding in tube and can even go so far as to refuse chocolate buttons! The ultimate sanction is the tossing of all sawdust out of the cage and onto my nice rug :)
ylleria- types of cinema - there's one on South Clerk Street, I think!
oh, sorry, I see. Thanks hurshy
babbler, can we have vacation theme day? Pick an icon that represents where you like to vacation?
katie - my sister had one that would purposely PEE out of the cage onto the rug.
I've got 10 d5's. Do I have them allL?
He went to Mari's last weekend and wouldn't take a button off her until he realised it was the only way he would get one.
Gosh, katie, what a temperamental little so and so!
Hurshy - I'm now thinking maybe Fuggles isn't so bad
yes smith
please excuse my stupidity. that's what I get for trying to play babble and email my boyfriend at the same time
Haz thank you so much... i would never have got those...you are a genius
Haz it's my own fault he is really really spoilt
mo - that's somewhat overstating the case!
come on everybody it's the hamster dance! bounce in time to the beat, you don't even have to move your feet!
well you know what i mean!!! LOL
FranMag - done. : )
you have mail Babs :)
We're constantly amazed at what owners will do for their pets. I once had a lady whispering down the phone to me as she was worried the dog would overhear and realise it was going to the vets. Another lady rang to enquire how the kennels were decorated!
thanks, Sherb : )
I tried to get Fuggles in a small animal hotel but couldn't find one local enough so now I pay my cleaner to come in and check he is ok when I go away for more than one night, she thinks i'm mad
Haz - it makes me think of Mrs Pumphrey in All Creatures Great and Small... and her Tricky Woo...
Hi everyone - just started. Good job you're home Haz, you might not have been able to sail tonight according to the weather reports
I dont suppose you have a clue for the on7/28 please
Okay that means that I'm missing a d6. I've got da6, de6, dr6 x2. Can anyone tell me which I need?
do6
thanks babbler!
on7 is more bratty. TY, hursh
candy - we got the high speed ferry from Cairnryan - just under an hour which was much faster than the old days!
it's odd...when I was growing up...I thought there was a hook letter after that first vowel in that on7:)
there IS daisy but this is the way southerners say it
I'm a southerner by birth:)
There is, daisy, you were correct
i know i probably missed it, but does anyone have a clue for the last ai 6/18?
I don't get that on 7 at all.... this may be a sign that I should give up and go to bed with a book
Haz - that is a good crossing. My friend is a lorry driver and has been told he may not get a sailing tonight because of gale force winds. It sounds very stormy her at the minute
Fran, haven't used the list yet, but did you get the AI 6/18 that means those who broadcast?
yes i did nrkii
Fran, it's ai 6/18 when you have a fan going in the room.
Hey nrkii!
thanks munner, i'll look for it
hello smith!
Down to one s5...
Help,, please with by 6
got it, thanks!
thanks all ...eventually got the on7!!!
oh my, I'm just starting compared to you
139 left to go
3456 points today
smith, which s5 you missing?
A good clue that was given earlier for the by's...instead of by sea or air, go by ****...The six is the plural of the five.
I'm not sure, nrkii...I've not used the list.
mo - on7 - if a five pound note is a fiver, then a one pound was a on**. Now make it a comparative.
Here we go again...
i cannot get the last ei5/12 HELP PLEASE THANK YOU
I had to log off and back on again!
It starts with the same first three letters as the other ei's but then there is a vowel followed by the plural letter.
urgh... it's taking forever to notice when I type in a word, so I think I'm just going to give up for today very soon
I have four se5's, one sn5, 5 so5's and 7 st5's. Could someone tell me the second letter of the one I'm missing?
Looks like I won't get far tonight. Could be heading for a power cut -* now, where are the candles?*
I'm going to give up for tonight as well soon, as i still have 74 left I will be here till the early hours again otherwise
smith - so
TY, hursh...
bye candy and katie
bedtime for me... nite all :)
Haz, I'm picking up on the clue you gave about the fiver and the on** and making it comparative, and it doesn't work--?--
it never takes on** (like fiver)-weird dictionary
smith, do you have the one that is not SO NEAR?
One of those that I thought I had. Finally done! As usual, thank you very much hurshy...
Night sherb!
yay smithchick!
hetty, did you include the i?
Yey SMITH!
got the ei5 now thank you all
hey everyone!
i'm missing the second st 5/10 - once I get this one I'm off to bed - clue please?
hi helen!
Hey, helen!
how's the site today? stable?
Which "i"?
PAH!
so not stable
hi helen, just had to reconnect
they are both the same pronunciation.

Is the site stable? Like the stygian one
hi all! HELEN! Great icon!
Not even a little stable!
i give hursh - what is nkotb?
erm, no... what?
I've had to reconnect / reload 3 times in last half hour :(
Hey, stidmama:)
stid - do you know who it is?
i need a re7/32 and a re5/12 which follow each otherplease anyone?
we'd close the stable door but the horses have all left!
WHAT IS NKOTB???????????????????????????? GOOD GOLLY
new kids on the block. the original pop boy band.
re + re4/5 + curvy, plural letter
oops, silly me - I should have said the 3rd st 5/10. Definitely time for bed in a minute, I think, if I can't even count to 3!
well, thta explains it - ok -i AM SOOO GLAD i didn't know that, lol
re + add grass to your yard.
a latin plural of the st4/4 before it.
you had to be in junior high at the time. for the record, i was the only kid who was NOT a fan.
O.K., found the missing "i" Must have somethimng to do with greek for "dream" Thanks, Haz, thanks nrkii
again - small size of icons detracts from impact
Does anyone need any other clues before I feed my chiluns?
ok, hurshy - you are still cool in my book
di 8?
hi all - clues for the ry's please
thanks a lot, smithchick. :)
I lived in Dorchester (Boston), MA at the time the New Kids rose to "stardom"- from my own neighborhood! too bad I didn"t like them...
my icon is the original 15 minutes - edie sedgwick - this print even done by the 'quote attributed to' andy warhol
different spelling of "he's a laugh ry**!"
very nice icon, helenkeller ;)
having trouble with the ei 6 and the 5 that comes after...
thanks une
ei 6 is plural of ei 5/12
having to do with down (like in a pillow)
ei 5 after that is same start, but ends with vowel, plural
di 8? I promise this i the last one, and then I'm going to bed.
edie sedgwick - rich california kid who hooked up with andy & his crowd in ny in the 60's, sometime model, sometime actress, alltime hanger-on; died sad, young death -od - i actually read her biography many years ago
fish please!
and thanks...
smithchick ..thnkyou for your help...i am still workingon the re7 though!
:)
Sorry was gone for a sec. di + vowel + tr** (Disney movie from way back + plural
I was tuned for then; (revealing age); Velvet Underground way better than New Kids...
You re something twice, mo...

could i get clues for the 2 ar 6/18 please
stid, it's an everyday thing for me, doesn't have to do with refreshing, but i can deal with it
sandr, i need those too
*waiting for clues to fall like manna*
I'm back to see if I can be of help. I've been shut out more than I've been on today. :[
who....
hee, daniel's out here playing with his little sand and water thing, getting pretty damp in the toesies
hi gramma!
HOWDEEEEEY
hi gramma!
*stomps foot* how can "Dior" NOT be accepted! grumble grumble
sander and fran...
same way it won't take yoda! grrr
Dior is acceptable in some circles
by 6 please?
I should hope so, gramma!
AR + vowel + end of CL*** the door
i for one will accept Dior!
(or too CL*** for comfort)
af12777
the other one, change the last vowel
munner, it means side street, starts like opposite of hello
BY 6 off the main highway take the by****
how you doing daisy?
thanks Fran and gramma. I knew it must be easy as I hadn't seen anyone ask for a clue.
117 left now
ar6/18..ar+a vowel+what sounds like what you water the garden with and the other ar6/18 alter the last vowel to another vowel
ok, going to temporarily hide chat so i don't look at clues on my first pass through
yes thanks nrkii
(wasn't easy for me Munner -- hadn't gotten there yet)
tndaisy - i have 108
great clues on those ARs everyone, thanks!
okay featherbee see you later!
awwwwwwww, rain.
Hello hello hello babblers. I finished but this was particularly irritating today. Will gladly help w/clues
rain?
bye feather
rain. :(
yay weegee!
arose
weegee, any of the last three ne words
weegee, any of the last three ne words
weegee, any of the last three ne words
second da4/5 anyone? or maybe it's the first one i'm missing
stid - how are you today? are you finished?
starting to freak out again
weegee, will gladly accept clues! I have arrived at the do, after an arduous journey up the alphabet... and am stuck for the moment... do 6/21 might "unstick" me
Helen, I have 14 left, with list, and many other things I still want to accomplish today...
wow - i wish i had 14
Munner, the first three ne words have to do with geeks. The last two are water nymphs
stid, do 6/21 is sort of like what you call the fin on a dolphin, but with a comparative ending instead of the AL
I need a c word....I have 6/21 and 7/32...what's the other, as in, clue pls?
do 6/21- do4/5 add the hospital immediate care
i need to stop feeling guilty about sitting here & not 'accomplishing' other things - life is short, this is fun, yeah, that's the ticket
daisy, people live in them
ty nrkii!
tndaisy, not the country
salmon fillet pls:)
(urban, Daisy)
the other c word is a ci4
you want nutella on yours also?
ty all:)
tndaisy, frozen haddock...no salmon filet
I keep getting kicked off the server, sorry. Where were we? (I like nutella!)
stid, water nymphs?
I am going to accomplish the other things (garden tour and painting) later, after I finish this GRID.
what is this nutella stuff?
The or words are terrible today.
It happened to me all day, weegee
i am just not meant to sit out on our new deck with the laptop apparently. diaper changed, playing inside (both of us), hiding chat (for real this time) and getting back to work on the monster grid.
i have always wanted to try nutella - is it any good ?(the name kinda scares me off)
tndaisy, if you don't know "the nutella" don't start! It's fabulous on ice cream
it has milk in it, so I haven't tried it -- it's like peanut butter only with hazelnuts -- and CHOCOLATE!
or 6/21 is singular of or 7/32: oro+"beware the (****) of March"
lol feather - awww, you might just as well stay & play with the rest of us :)
haven't tried it myself, but it's hazelnut chocolate
now I am stuck on one of the first do 4 and 5 combos -- I have the one that sounds like what horses eat...
stid, could you help me with the ne water nymph thing?
lst or 6/21 is singular of lst or 7/32: starts with 3 letter mineral or* + beware the **** of March
i love both !!- choc & hazelnuts, maybe i ought to try it - but right now i'm gonna have me one out of the box of truffles i got for mother's day
Remember when you started Babble and every1 warned you "it's addictive" I'm telling you AVOID nutella
ne + short hook letter + second vowel then third vowel, then fourth letter....... and plural
ROFL gramma
I wanted to get back to the puzzle, so I have a temp icon...
shoot stid, I tried all other combos I think
thanks
Hi folks!!
YAY libarebel! officially pro now... :-)
hi peri
ne 7/32 is plural of ne 6/21: ne+ wooden thing that's on wind instruments, change 2nd dbld vowel to 3rd vowel
hi peri!
hi peri!
ty, stidmama; old pic, have shaved beard
hi peri
hi peri!
*giggle* too bad -- looked good with whiskers, you did!
thanks, stidmama, and weegee. I'm down to last 6. There is hope on the horizon.
plus, I'm female (!?)
down to my final 6 - clues for the de5/12 and 6/21 please
I have that problem too
de 5/12 anyone?
de+ rodents
*saits for sandr's clues...*
thanks gramma!
YW
still need that do 4 and 5 combo at the beginning, not the one that's like "Hall & ***"
stid, let me show you to the do** (spelled incorrectly)
hursh? you were right, it was Douglas. List amended. : )
2nd do 4/5 & do 5/12 (pl) other way into a room besides a window is a do**.... change third letter to another of the 4th
what does the 8 start with, have not looked at the list yete
ty gramma! I thought I had tried that already!
YW
peri di
peri, di
thanks, may I please have a clue for the di8
Is there really an or 4/5 near the middle of the or words?
computer problems, I think -- I might have to shut down...
di 7/32 & 8/45 begin with spanish for day
thanks gramma - slight delay as had to reboot
di 8 is plural of di 7/32. There are elec***** in the nucleus of an atom
di starts like a gem stone ands with the NEU- thingies in atoms
The 1st 3 letters are the same as the measurement assoc.w/circles..the last4 are the title of a disney sci-fi movie
note my scientific use of "thingies"
brb, baby needs nap
Wait Fran, I need a nap
middle or 4/5: opposite of "or don't", next is plural
I know they're probably very easy, but the last da 4? assume the last 5 is its plural
stid, if data were male in spanish
ty, weegee, my fingers were getting dizzy trying combinations
da+ a digit on your foot minus the last letter
ty weegee
...give me a harder one...
okay, seven words left but my computer is making strange noises. Will shut down for a while and log back on later.
Cya, stid
ra 7/32: Paul Revere & the Ra***** (showing my advanced age...)
weegee, sing it
clue for the third st5/10 please. its my last and i need thse fireworks - its been a slog today!
gramma, put me on the spot... all I can think of is Wooly Bully, wrong group!!
add a vowel to the 1 above it
weegee, is weegee you nickname? or just a computer thing?
thank you gramma - i have finished

hpyhrted--count me in
missyem -- NO -- and feelin dense
was walking with friends on the toronto waterfront and a harbour cruise was offloading
hehe had another friend who had a big ranch in idaho and he did a concert there also said he was super nice
we happened to be in the middle of the crowd as willie stepped off, he stuck out his hand said hi i'm willie, we shook. seemed a very gentle sincere and happy kind of guy

or5/12ier is not a word
have u seen the special 60 min. did on him, he talks about that
read his biography, wasn't quite as nice when he was a drunk. booze is legal, get's folks killed and fighting pot is illegal, makes folks happy and mellow, go figure.
at the last concert I saw I was in front sticking up my vee'd index & middle; he returned the gesture & I felt blessed; something about him
he says that himself, gave up booze and cigs for pot, much nicer person he says
you are right he makes my heart happy, hence hpyhrted, when i hear him sing or talk
did you see the nationally televised concert on the friday after 911? Willie closed it w/ A
yes, made me cry
"America the Beautiful"- all verses -- I was wishing he'd never stop--so healing
split message...

Hi Weegee, I need a basketful of clues. You game?
Hi scatty. Can you see me slowly turning purple with frustration?
hetty, when a jazz musician goes off on a long solo, they're called ri** (pl)
Smeltzdog - you conveyed a feeling I had earlier this afternoon --- only 2456079089 words to go
sure kenny, but I've been told I give sort of "non-standard" clues...
still can't get it from your clue, any others
hetty, you have the 4/7, use the third letter and a snake
I can keep two of the three standing if I don't start
sheryl, ** only, ** only I had a clue...
did you get that clue Hetty
Why are you all so in to the puzzle tonight. Can't we just be friends?
sheryl, the word stutters
weegee I should know this, but all I can think of is a gig, which it aint. So I monkeyed around and got it. Why isn't it in the dictionary? Thanks, you darling babbler
ILet's prove them wrong, shall we? Something standard for one of the 4 st's I'm missing. Give me a minute and I'll get the exact ones...
sheryl, it's re+re5/12 that means to decorate again
hetty, has your colour gone back to normal now
let me guess... st 4: 2 vowels from word for warty frog, then add personal pronoun for its "latinized plural" st 5/10 (just before "tale")
Thanks Scatty, now i can turn to my last 70 words. I'll never finish this before choir practice. Not a goo0d day, what with the site sabotaging all of us and all. . .
The second ST6...which is the first ST6/18...Right before the A **** Is Born one.
fine, I'll come back later when the talkers are one. Nothing against y'all but...
omg that is just the dumbest word but ty
and I'm a pretty shade of puce now
