flip!
Jillibus, did you make it?
Hey, this is fun!
My oh my what a wonderful day!
flpflopflip
yup, flipt--must change!
balletslippers, harpjane, meet hetty's friend Jillibus!
only 148! this seems manageable...
what's our theme?
insects
hmmm. brb then!
phantom word for the day: drink.
well, hello!
Yup. Think I'll try this one now I have a buddy aboard, thanks babblkers all for being so welcoming to jillibus
so far I have at one word from yesterday's grid
ar 7 ar 8
but take the r out of drink
Yes, thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the intro, Hetty
and I have avery rude word from the upper left corner
celt
actually, I just killed the first letter off of it, but this is gonna bug me more than most, for some reason
hee hee, hetty
it's always tough to find an icon so fast... hope this is a good enough one
Oops. And I was warned.
*giggle* Jillibus is doing great so far!
you look lovely, stidmama
Jill, that's once--
yay, jillibus!
ty libarebel, shall we dance? *pirouette*
ive only got 1 word/...bet u no 1 is beating me
aleksia, do you have today off? am I correct it's already Monday for you?
does nebody know how many words today? ive got 27 so far
have you seen me -- still wanna dance, stidmama? lol
yes it is monday but we have a PUPIL FREE DAY
147 - morning all
happy flip all, how many words today?
I've seen you, but I am carrying a secret weapon...
whoa, new even more annoying phantom word: artifice
hello Dippnall!
Ciboulette
ShadeEagle... you are NOT helping! LOL my eyes are crossed-ted enough without new words being planted!
r 7...
HI Dippnall. I make it 148 words
ri7/36 = puzzle
ho - looked at wrong side having entered 1 word!
r6
hi mark!
sorry, ri/624 = puzzle, 7 is plural
hi stid mama, how goes it?
jillibus, when the puzzle first starts, we try to find as many words as we can, and then when we find the bigger ones, we give the starting letter and the count... does that make sense to you?
going well, mark! I am glad this is a smaller grid. :-) You?
plural, mark Let's be meticulous here
you put yourself right ahead of me! Well done
im ok...to me a small grid would be 40 easy-to-find words...i'll be lucky if i find half in here
well, I'll help if I can, though it's still early...
tr6/21 - plural or tr5/21 = "in a flash"
Thanks for the help, stid. I was so busy with the grid I didn't notice your tip until now!
ty mark! that's a good one!
how many words does everyone have
Clues are up! Enjoy
d4/10
thanks Lickety!
37
35
39
ok ive only got 5
Jillibus, the "clues" are Lickety's contribution to the good of Babble-kind... he has a computer program he runs that tells us how each word in the grid begins (first two letters), the number of letters in that word and the total points of the word. He's an angel.
tr5/12, mark
the clues haven't been showing up for me all day. just the masthead. boo.
Anyway, Lickety's Clues have a link in the "Friends of Babble" section at the bottom of the page. I usually open his site in a new window so I can go easily between his page and Babble.
tr5/12 = "in a flash"
I'm sitting on 22, but that's partially due to computer issues and wandering away
tr6/21 = plural of 5/12
I have 45, only 103 to go...
misshoax, that's no good. Is it true even with the new clue list?
dang Stidmam!
sickness, a/7
(lower left)
indeed stid.
Lickety are you still there? what might misshoax do to see your clues?
it doesnt allow fairie...alt spelling of fairy!
ty jfarber! I just saw it!
you know what, it seems to be a safari issue, as i just checked in firefox, and it was fine. i suppose i should have thought of that sooner. but lickety should know.
I'm new, and I don't understand how to find the clue list. I've just been depending on the clues that ya'll give. Where is the clue list? Thanks
Welcome...happy to finally be up late enough to play this "end" of things, stid!
I know mark, it's a totally dis-abled dictionary, in my oh-so-humble opinon!
yeah, you are up late tonight ;)
was this your first flip jfarber?
miranda, Lickety's clues have a link in the "friends of babble" section at the bottom of this page... :-)
Yup!
two words from yesterday
Hey, Krys!
Thanks!
well congratulations! kinda fun to be in at the start, I think!
Usually have to get up in ... oh, 4.5 hours from now to get to work!
also, railmen is not allowed! argh!
Found an ad/5 (w/ an ad/6 plural) = confused.
but tomorrow off?
JF - I owe you an email - enjoyed your blog.
nor is africa
Glad, Krys10. The archives are scintillating, if you know me, supposedly.
nor is electric or acid
This week's been a bit "off" writing-wise.
Memorial day, stid.
I think I'm just gonna start closing some letters
didn't poke throught the archives much.. Willow on the cordless made me laugh
oh -- yes, but you don't have a flag. wasn't sure where you live! :-)
everybody should check out my new site: http://www.markbowersmusic.com
I don't have a pro, yet. Teachers are usually broker than usual, end of year -- too many supplies from own $.
it's been totally updated and revamped...
your page is lovely mark!
thanks Stidmama...my wife took that pic
oh yes -- my mother always kind of has to start cutting back this time of year. And then she spends a bunch again in August to get ready for school.
looks like talent is your family's middle name then. :-)
under 100 to go, folks...
lol
if there's 148, then i have 100 to go
jfarber, how long have you been kicking around here?
you're doing well then! Just fyi there are 3 eight letter words, 6 seven letter words and 15 six letter words...
Tonight? Oh, was here for a while an hour ago, then just rearrived to see the flip.
okay, going for Lickety's clues... I got 53 on my own. :-)
i dont have any 8 letter words...im down to 96 left
And you? You get a boost -- more awakeness out there in Cali right now -- past 1 am in Mass.
no no, when did you discover babble? I still think it's so random that I ran into you at all - I barely play anymore - more of an IronSudoku girl..
just finished work and arrived home a few minutes ago
and i've been babbling since summer 2004
Um...came in about two months ago, maybe. I tend to be late to the party, as games go -- mostly use the internet for blogreading, mp3 downloading, and other web 2.0 stuff.
work? On a sunday night? Oh, yes -- tutoring knows no normal hours, eh?
Ri6/7 combo "questions"
has anyone found the ae 5 yet?
especially this close to final exams - I'm working all day tomorrow too
ne hints for the 8's guys and gals?
don't have them yet Freckle!
*waits to see if anyone drops clues*
Got an 8 beginning with ar...
di6/7 combo similar to ri6/7
ar 8 / 45 are found in newspapers
ty ShadeEagle!

they told me she had a stroke...but she didn't she hit her head....
oh, ren, that's tough - I'm sorry. how's she doing? how're you doing?
oh dear... concussion then. How bad? (I had a concussion years ago that took away my ability to recall spoken words sometimes)
hey all !
hi helen! why up so late?
how was the wedding...
she's ok...she has dementia and is a bleeder so it was more messy than dangerous
hey helen
lol stid- just got back from wedding & checking in on grid - didn't have time to finish the one from sunday :(
hiya renfield :)
hello, helenkeller!
I am so sorry ren. That is really hard to deal with. I will keep you in my thoughts.
helen....love your icon. Rickman Rocks!
what's ever1's word counts
I am down to 85 now!
good morning everyone:)
well, im gonna head off to bed...at 60 words so far
good night mark, thanks for the update on your website!

hi everyone who just came in and nite to everyone leaving. Working so have to keep doing work in between words
But then, I'm usually up again in 4 hours for work....(how many times can I use that excuse, I wonder?)
I've got 104 left - I win!
working? at this hour?
yes, night audit and a hotel & spa
wow - i was just reading the recent chat - very commendable ren - it's tough, i took care of my parents, both sick at same time, died less than 6 months apart (a long time ago now, 20 years next year) i'm just saying - i understand how incredibly difficult & draining that is- but you will never regret the sacrifices you are making to do whatever it is you are doing for your mom
jfarber, how much longer is school in session for you?
pleading the 5th
hiya lib :)
on the chesapeake bay
School gets out on June 20. Not bad...but later than I'd like.
oh, I did night auditing one summer in college-- not a good fit. I am a morning person...
thanks helen....it's an experience! and my mom is such a sweetie!
Krys10, the only thing I can think to say about our comparative scores would REALLY dredge up the past...
one block from my house which is better than the 140 miles a day I was driving
oof, that does seem late. I forgot about the snow-day factor
ren - i can feel your love - awesome
our school lets out midday on June 21. I think that's awfully late into the summer. Would prefer starting a week or two earlier and finishing earlier, myself (as a parent, not a teacher)
I am nocturnal, by nature. But I DO Like getting home to the kids before 3 every day.
JF, behave yourself ;)
hey, helen-- very profound & sweet words of wisdom
Used to teach prep school -- we got out June 4th or so...and came back Sept. 1. NICE.
LOL.
that's nice that you can live so close. It sure is nicer to walk a block than drive for several hours!
finally broke 60 words
bash - ty, it's yesterday's icon & i do not want to change it - i don't think it's gotten the proper mileage, lol
yeah, half of my students are out June 7th, the rest on June 16th
my kids are all grown and living in california new york and s carolina
good for you ShadeEagle!
How do I get a flag and the other litle thingy?
No snow days in CA, eh, K?
you have to go pro jillibus
nope. i sure do miss them :) earthquake drills instead - not as exciting nor as quiet. I really miss the snow, actually - never though I'd say that!
I liked yesterday's icon better, too, helen brb...
On the other hand, that means you miss paying other people to plow your driveway...
lol lib :)))
go to "My Account" in the top right of your page. There will be an edit or update section. Choose your country to get the flag, and say whether you are girl or boy to get a purse or purson...
jfarber -- jillibus IS pro already!
i never had to plow the driveway - I managed to convince my dad that I was afraid of teh snowblower until I left for college.
Well, I thought I did.
hi all, you'd think 148 words would be easier!
ahh ok -
jill - in my account select the country u r n and if you are male or female
ah, kris is clever :)
i'm the repeat button

i could have sworn i read about vicious knids when I was a wee child...!
eeeww, FranMag-- what are those critters?
You did...but roald dahl didn't necessarily use real words.
scorpions!!
yeah, phooey, i figured as much

Perverse meaning it's nasty?

It's about 29 degrees (84 F) here and very, very humid. Summer are very hat here because of the humidity and we usually have several typhoons in the area so we get some good down pours.

I come from a hugely cricket-mad family - I grew up hanging round the Northants county ground with various family groups! My cousin now plays for England *very proud* and I'd love to have the chance to spend some more time actually watching cricket down here than watching on TV!

My husband is a cricket nut - he used to play. I remember when I first came here, I couldn't understand why the batsmen just STOOD there - why didn't they run! One of the funniest things I've ever read is Bill Bryson's description of cricket.

Didn't make it to Literati last night, GW... fell asleep watching LOTR (that's how tired I was!) & that was all she wrote until 3am...
Why can't we have tiddle, tiddles, or tiddlier....?

Oh, no. you shouldnt have stopped.
There's 2 c's Sprite, but one of 'em is on the right side of the grid.......
hi everyone
shutterbug, that would be nice. string instruments rule.
Sprite... you're profile is interesting
tHERE ARE 5 FA WORDS THAT START WITH THE SAME 4 letters -- the first two words are a kind of silly theater piece, the last 3 have to do with cooking
hand injury, but i play a little every day.
I agree!
True movie, not reachable for the icicles, alas. The other one is used though.
Profile, Ginger? It's a bloody autobiography!!!!!!
Hello everyone. I'm late starting the grid today.
that's what I thought LOL... either way it's interesting :-)
lol movieman! Thnx Ginger :)
Thats good. And I am sorry about your hand.
Thanks for that, ARB - was getting confused. The language, if I'm not mistaken, is Farsi, which is not in the grid
GW, I don't understand about the alt id... do I need to create a new yahoo account with it??
hi, jacs ! : D
amandacath You're awake!

np Jac, it is a nice and cooperative grid today.
sorry sorry sorry¬¬¬
Good one, Ginger!
OK -- Seb is fed and getting too bouncy so I put him in his bassinet -- Kristianna must have heard me as she is beginning to move about but I will take some time now to actually enter some words instead of just gaze on longingly
ginger, I already had that one.
ginger: i did not have that one! : D
GW, did you see my post?
sorry shuttlebug, I'll try screw up with a more obscure word next time!!!!
Thanks ARB!

Hi Frances, granted I'm not a morning person, but it's 4:11 pm here - shouldn't I be awake?
lol GW...that's what i've been doing this morning...gazing longingly...I know better than to try to finsih this with my partner at home. I'm way too slow.
Jera -- yes, you can create an alternate Id under your current ID -- I just don't remember exactly where -- the others talked me through it
Hi daisy!!

I've got an ni6 - does the ni7 have anything to d o with it?
Thanks, TO
I know, Frances, one of the wettest Mays since 1983 and we still can't use our hoses......
But there is a very similar word, tndaisy1960
i am missing one of the last di4/5
Morning! How many words today?
148.......
Thanks Temple -- I prob won't get to check it out today -- but I will consider it for the future :)
YoBaby, you don't have to ask anymore, as Dr_God has put it as part of the Word Stats
movieman I heard that we need TWENTY EIGHT WEEKS of unremitting rain to make an impression!
Jera, that D-list was just what i needed! I've finally go them all.
I know, Frances, pathetic isn't it, what do they want, a bloody monsoon?
My 14 day trial has expired so it doesn't list the total number of words anymore. :-(

its beautiful and sunny in Bournemouth today. Ive just got back from the beach. (bit nippy though).
hey dachef! : D

Dachef Rub it in why don't you!
jera: the 4/5 i have after the eight are rhymes with "clue" and filth..what am i missing please?
rub it in? Okay: the sun is shining through the windows, the windows are thrown wide open and I wish i could use my computer in the garden. Hows that?
Kristianna is definitely awake now -- she is having fun talking to herself and her stuffed animals -- I am wondering how many days it will be before she realises that she can get out of bed and come into the living room on her own :D
Take it from this mother of three... it won't be long, Woulf.
Dachef Just a bit harsh
another good phantom word today -- trifle LOL, YoBaby
Sorry... lost connection, glad I could help, Beth!
LOL! Its not actually that wonderful. Theres a few clouds about now and the wind is really nasty. Loads of people on the beach though - kids swimming in the sea - must be mad.
TO, I am missing the 8 so I don't know where it fits in... sorry...
Gorgeous weather her in Virginia... perfect for a grill-out!
jera: the 8 is a plural - so you already have it, you just don't know it ! : D
add a vowel to the seven - like pural of bo di888888
Temps here are supposed to hit the high 80's in eastern PA -- too bad it is too muggy already
Just figured it out your missing di4/9 means small, in a cute way... math is big clue
Missing 3 k's.....I have the woollen hobby one and the considerate one......
Jera, I learned something really cool last month... apparently the tradition of barbequing outdoors (I haven't heard the expression "grill-out" before) started in 1906 in San Francisco after the big earthquake when people were not allowed to use indoor stoves for a year
Dachef The sun has just come out here but everywhere is soaking wet.
My di7 is already plural... ?
jer - need a 5
How cool is that Krys!
Frances - same here!!!!! Still some dark clouds about, tho'....
The only di5 I have is plural of what you roll when you gamble (plural of a plural)

having trouble wityh the first fa 5, since I have the correct fa as the first one.
In the theatre comedy is sometimes called a fa5/18
fa5/18 - the comedy before the tragedy.
when an action is ajoke one says that is a fa***
the next fa 5/18 sounds like the Iranian language
.. and then pl for the 6 Then keep the 1st 4 letters and play around with endings for a 5,6 & 7
Have to do laundry. See everyone later. Happy babbling!
bye Charm, my laundry is already running

course we can Jac, Im clueing on babble and sudokuing at the same time
that is really pretty, frances
Jacula Don't know. I'm sewing.
Dachef - you can't have got all the numbers yet, Frances has only just handed out the cards.:)
What do you do with the quilts you make?
Vicuna Usually give them away. I really should try selling
I went to Bingo with my brother once. He's not the sharpest tool in the box. He kept nudging me and telling me what numbers I should blank out. When I lost my patience and said "fill your own bloody card out", he said "Icant, all mine are full."
give them away????? You could make LOTS of money!
Taking a break to put the beef joint in the oven. I'll be in trouble with the o/h if it isn't started by the time he gets back from taking his daughter home.:/
LOL dachef
if you lived over here, I'd buy that one! but the S&H would be prohibitive from England to here I imagine
Dachef - LOL!
I figure with the quilts I make, I couldn't possibly charge enough to make it worth my while to sell, so I just give mine away. But yours, you could charge the universe and get it, i think!
BBL.
Atalante Sew I'm told. That is why I'm thinking about it
"Headin' out to Eden, Yea, brother, Headin' out to Eden, Yea, brother, No more trouble, for my body or my mind, Gonna live like a king, on whatever I find, Eat all the fruit, and throw away the ****, Yea, brother"
I'd buy one!!
Oops, wrong series...
douglas! i like hearing the song anyway :) :) :)
aftar
tndaisy1960 Thank you so much. I guess it would unless sent by snail mail
Hello hurshy!
hey hursh
hi all.
Hello, hurshy.
Just checked out "whos online" and discovered that some people's icons are just blank, like mine and hurshy's. What gives?
Hi hurshy
dunno.
hi Hurshy
I'm just a little over halfway to halfway...
Inge, your icon isn't blank on my "who's online".
inge Well I can see that hurshy has friends and you have a frog
i have 15 to go so i am ready to hear clues that may fall
weird
inge Didn't mean that the way it sounds!!!!!!
LOL i don't think she took it that way :)
frances - wanna make me a quilt? :) :) heard you give them away - i'll pay!
you're never alone with a frog.....
no problem, Frances. The icons on the chat log are normal, those on WHOS ONLINE dont have pictures.
The icons are working for me, Inge
hurshy ...... taking orders as we speak
neato! how much for a king size?
inge they do cos I just checked it out and yours is showing fine.
nope, i checked who's online as well, inge, you're still a frog, hurshy still has friends :)
Frances....how much would you charge, seriously...for a quilt big enough for a queen-size bed?
Also the icons on MY FRIENDS are blank. If it is only my computer I will have to report to Dr. G
tndaisy1960 I've never really thought about it. I suppose I would need to go away and do my maths. Bearing in mind that as they are all made entirely by hand, they do take a long time.
Is a queen size bed in the US the same size as a queen size in the UK?
a clue please for af 5/16
Frances...I'm well aware....I come from a family of quilters...even dabbled in it myself, when I could see how.
well I think you've got orders from half of the babble contingent! should keep you busy for a while LOL
Sorry daisy, hurshy, and all, but Frances, you should be charging thousands of dollars for the large sizes.
magzel a plus French for fried
FMitch....I don't know...never thought there would be a difference...
magzel - a+ pineapple ****ter.
a + fr4
Im not sure either, just thought I would thow it in for consideration.
nevermind. i got it and that is fireworks for me- finally, haven't finished for many days
good point though...I'll check into that
hooray magzel!
thanks for all the help everyone
**** hands are the devil's tools
way to clue the one i was looking for, douglas :)
Vicuna Thank you for that. Perhaps I really should consider selling. Wonderful thought, making money out of something you enjoy doing.
Frances If not already familiar with you might want to contact www.quiltersguild.org.uk as I am sure they could give lots of advice.
right, now if we could only find a way to get paid for babble....
FMitch Thanks. Yes I am aware of them
That's exactly the way I feel about my art "business", Frances. My original goal was just to break even on materials, but now I'm doing pretty well. And every time someone is will ing to pay money for something I've made (and enjoyed doing) it feels great!
Take another little piece of my heart now baby...
"You know you've got it if it makes you feel good!"
hello janis
That was a clue...
It must be such a buzz Vicuna when that happens.
(Hmm, "aorta" isn't in the grid...)
(ventricle? No...)
ok now this is driving me nuts too....
You know it can't be ventricle when there are no 9's
Yes indeed it is, FMitch. It's like finding a good home for one of my babies!
(No v's, either, Douglas. Merely persiflage.)
please solve this mystery so I can go shower! lol
ta5/16 hints plz!
maybe he meant the plural of places you have plants, or open areas in an office building?
atrind
huzzah, thanks fig
ohhh....duh:)
freckle, sounds a bit like a stretchy candy
and I already HAD it!
Vicuna Just checked out your web site. Good to see that everything you do is also all done by hand. I think there is a lot to be said for the old fashioned ways. Modern technology can make things a little TOO perfect. I must take a leaf out of your book and give it a go. It is chucking it down again here and is really dark and thundering.
freckle, ta + four-point letter + two vowels
"And Isaac went out to meditate in the ***** at the eventide..." - Genesis 24:63
nice
well now that the "mystery" is solved...I must leave you wonderful folks and transform myself into a human. bbl:)
I've never heard the word persiflage before...I learned something
bye tridaisy
They forecasted thunderstorms for us today but I think you have been getting them all Frances
FMitch And I've just had an email to say that my cricket is off tomorrow. I just hope the game on Wednesday is on.
Glad to be of educational service, Douglas! :)

lesliaann: it's showing as 4/5 on mine...weird babble glitch?
lo and behold, the icon pictures have returned, though some are different from the chat log ones.
I'm back for just a few mins -- inge, I asked Dr_God about that -- he said it was related to the browser cache, not anything to do with the site

congrats movieman!!!! nrkii - pass the fish. Doh! How come I can monkey type words like "grugru" and then miss that?
:)
le 6 is the past tense of the le 5 right before it
boo! I hated grugru!
le 6 is strange past tense of le 5
Debb, add a cross to the end of the le 5/10 before it
le6 add a another consonant to the le5!
debbinla le6/18 what you did at school (I hope)
actually not past tense, but some other form that I can't remember from my junior high grammar lessons
thank you guys! 3 more to go!!
past-present tense? or something equally as confusing?
go debb, go debb...
dachef, how are the F's looking now?
nrkii - 2 left!
it's like an adjective, like scorched pancakes or hidden clues
recap dachef?
I think your FAs are done...
fi 4, you need 5 total, so you may still be missing one there
fa4x3, fa5x2, fa6x2, fa7x1; fi4x4, fi5x5, fr4x3, fr5x2, fr6x1 - missing 2......!
okay, there is an fi 4 that sounds like green leafy plant
I have been unable to decipher the am5,12 - can anyone please pass on a clue?
the am 5/12 is almost like the am 5/14 before it, change last cons
am5/12 - to fix or to change slightly. Add on one of the m4's.
thanks bunny and dechef!
there is an fi 5 that is someone who would definitely not be your FR 6
OMG! I needed the fi4 movie. I think I should give up.
let me know if those work -- you're missing 1 fi 4 and 1 fi 5
you can also plural that, dachef :)

BGL - using the list is perfectly acceptable.
very strange d4 at beginning of the pack before you get to the cubes with dots on them
do you have one fa 5/6 combo already? if so, change last letter to another vowel
I'm not above using the list, just like to see how far I can get without it and with it being a holiday I have plenty of time to play and pnder

oh funny, i always thought debb was from louisiana
well ARB, perhaps Mets, like the Brooklyn Dodgers - may me relocating to LA...
Thanks Erda, leslieann.
Phox, or you can decrease the size of your browser.
very true bgood - lots of mets fans out here --- ad i'm originally from ny
debbinta also... Thanks!
lots of yankees fans out in Los Angeles too
it's ironic - July 22nd - I'm planning on visiting the Shea Stadium to do a brief educational production teaching American Sign Language onto a DVD and will accompany with a player from the Mets team (of who, I do not know yet...)
again, hi there! clue for af 6/ 30 af 5/ 16, thanks a bunch guys...
lots of yankee fans everywhere - i was just in italy - all the kiosks sold tourist t shirts and there were plently of yankee shirts and hats
that is really neat, bgood!
thon af 5 is what the mets play on....
af 6/30 -- a + place where farmer plants his crop
af 6 is a + baseball f****
oops i meant 6
af 5/16 is a + French word for fried
af5 is a + apple f***ters
Debb, you can buy every team's stuff all over the world. Some of it real, most of it rip-offs
ah, but the rip-offs are cheaper :)
True
i buy all my yankee stuff from mlb web site
im done..have a good babbling day to all you folks..
that's wise, renfield - though best bet is to buy from stores that has authorization to sell these items - which obviously show quality
nice job, jimboy!
people need to stop liking the yankees --- the mets are the way to go! bgood - let me know about the asl/mets thing
I like the mets, but I love the yankees.
sorry -deb..been a yankees fan all my life....8-) i was born a yankees fan
you bet debbinla - it's exciting - the marketing team at the Mets are quite helpful and respectful towards people with disabilities (i.e. myself)
way to go jim!!
if you don't mind me asking, what is your disability, bgood?
it's hard for us mets fans --- but at least we're good finally
profound Deafness since birth - a sixth generation
thats really nice to hear bgood - everyone of course should be like that
wow, 6th generation... so does everyone sign in your family?
(them being respectful and helpful that is)
gotta run for a bit to catch up with yankees game :)
bbl
bye nrkii! thanks again for the help1
yes - ASL is our native language - that is - a visual-gestural language with complete set of linguistics in place
we all use American Sign Language at all times; even when my mom and I brainstorm together of all the possible terms found off the grid in ASL.
that is neat i would like to learn asl someday
any clues for ma 6/21?
when our DVDs are ready, I'll let you and debbinla know and to view them off of our website which will include some video snippet - so you can learn some :)
pl of ma 5/12, ye olde poste
hurshy! i went listless today!
good for you leslie :) how did you find it?
42 words i'm done.
long and involved :)
lol
Thanks Hurshy
guys, regardless of mets or yankee fans, we need help with li5,12 - got stuck with this one...
any clues for ae 5/12?
li5/12 means legal-is often seen with an i before it
i walked away - thanks bgod will lov to see it
thanks eva - still contemplating and debbinla - you got it.
li + new york ***y
bgood-speed l____ is 50, change the middle consonant
debbinla and eva - your hints did fix the problem without a trip to a number of tylenols
i'm back. bgood, just read down the log -- did you get the li 5/12 yet?
good!
hi hurshy!
yes stidmama - it worked beautifully - the last li we needed...trying to go for fireworks...
how many do you need? I have 48 left
clue for the ai 7, please?
the ai 7 is "sickness" older term"
ah, thanks, stidmama
hi everyone :)
hi helen! Just talked with my mom-in-law near Chicago, she says another thunderstorm is rolling in...
i heard that too, need to wash a dog or 2 first, where's your mil
they're in a little town just southwest of the city, she's staying with her daughter who just had a baby. Usually our parents live in Washington state.
i started this last night -now you all just tell me my last 37 because my brain is too busy working on making new brain cells to replace all those i lost last night
ar 7 & 8?
stid - do you know the name of the town? just curious -
ylleria-cmmon words-things in newspapers
speaking of which... what was the wedding like? I went to sleep soon after you got back and never heard more than you had enjoyed yourself.
i'm awaiting with ya ylleria :)
news ar******, ylleria. (and hi, all)
Any one playing who is a veteran? I want to say, "Thanks"
helen, they live in St. Charles. just moved there a few weeks ago.
lol - yep had a good time - leslieann conveniently reminded me i can reexperience anything i may have, ahem, 'forgotten', through the beauty & magic of videotape - other than my own personal fun, pretty much your typical cookie cutter wedding
helen-went to college in chicago many, many years ago...during the 1st Mayor Daley. 67-72. Lived in Hyde Prk. Hven't been back since. Remember mainly the incredible wind during the winter, the heat and smell of dead fish in teh summer, lots of wonderful places to eat, and the art museum. And, of course the riots, the democratic convention and other little things like that
sadly, no cutting of the cake (bride did not want $400 make-up job to get smeared with cake) and NO chicken dance - what's wrong with this world?
No chicken dance? I feel cheated...
chicken dance? What have I been missing?
I am stumped by the fa 5/18 and 6/30 combo -- the first set, please?
ty jfarber & eva :)
help for ta 6/27 anyone?
eva shows her age, lol - yucky, you were here during the alewife washup - that WAS gross!!!
stid-don't know if these are the ones you want, but a comedy which is way over the top is this
hmmm, eva remembers 1st daley, but doesn't know chicken dance???? lol
I have those eva, but thanks.
Yes indeed, showing my years...do you remember "Vote early and vote often"?
eva - are you a u of c smartypants?
stidmama - clue for fa 5/18: *** away + windows **
so what is a chicken dance already!
sorry kkiln, don't have the ta yet
Hi all!! A wedding and no chicken dance!!! What's the use...
lol eva- sure do, hey, even the dead voted back then, lol
Stid, if you have the stuffing fa's. then think French fa*** (type of theatre) sing. &pl.
I ma getting confuseder... hetty, I think I need the stuffing fa words...
It's a German dance, very funny, very fun, eva
I plead guilty to u of c, but at the time had no idea it was such a smarty pants place---was just doing what one does at that age-figuring out who you are away from you family, entering the terrifying world of sex, etc. Why won't anyone tell me what a chicken dance is? is it a secret, like the masonic handshake or something?
stid - good friend's sister lives in st. charles, we visit her pretty often - very nice place, i wouldn't exactly call it small (small compared to chicago, but large for a nearby town, very pretty, with fox river running through it)
stid-the stuffing ones are just like the others, but different vowel(s) at the end-french word for stuffed.
my sister-in-law and her husband are hoping it will be a good place to raise their family. I haven't been there (actually haven't been east of the rockies in over 15 years..)
ir 4/5?
ty eva!
stid-also a fa7/44 which is the pl of one of the stuffed ones
Cruella -- ir + "past tense" ending letters
lol eva, you are cracking me up - see, all eva is a grad of one the very best universities in the country & certainly, by far (in my humble opinion) the best one around here! and yet, sadly, never exposed to the chicken dance, but she could probably build a nuke, lol
made cold, cruella
oops -- that ic.
that was suppposed to read: see, all, ...
sorry Cruella, the second vowel in the ir is the same as the first...
okay, done with the fa words, on to the fi...
lol-can't build a nuke...failed my physics classes, taught by a mad physicist from the Enrico Fermi Institute. But am definitely weddingly challenged. Almost on one I know has gotten married, or if they have it was a very humble thing, and Jewish weddings don't include the chicken dance-at least not that I've noticed.
so eva, the chicken dance is played to a really catchy tune, you make little clucking gestures with you hands, at eye level & then there is a part whre you kind of twist down while doing that - i've seen it at alot of polish and czech weddings too
any help appreciated for the ad words
confuse and confuses, kkiln -- the 5 AND 6
the dance sounds wonderful! Wonder if I can find a film of it online?
no, but don't jewish weddings have the chair dance?
and just one morse code symbol for the ad 4/5
kkiln, think ping pong p*****
eva, lol, about the bomb, then eastern european version of hora, but more hokey
ty...was about to shoot the monkey that types for me
uh, much more hokey, but similar in terms of energy & everyone gets up to do it, young & old alike
yes- chair dance and of course the hora (of babble fame). The last Jewish wedding I went to was Sephardi, men and women dancing separately, from Syria and Greece, and the women belly danced. Wow! Talk about sensual!
wow, that's something i'd like to see, eva, sounds exotic :)
ai 7/32 please x
M3-another word for an illness
that sounds really interesting and nice! Our wedding was really simple -- went over to the courthouse and out for dinner... fast, inexpensive and no parents to try to please! LOL
Stid, the stuffing words are french for what in English id called "force(meat)" (change vowel to the "a" and the second vowel to the third)...don't pluralise simply add another second vowel
hi m3 -- ai 7 is "sickness" old term
hey every1
doh many thaks xxx
thanks hetty!
think its nap time. See you all later. helen, why wash the dogs-just put some soap on them and stick them out in the rain. They'll just roll in nasty things all over again anyway.
good night Eva, see you later!
Thanks jfarber....learned a new word!
I need one more fi to finish my set of 5/18s. I have the plural of the 4/8s; the one that sounds like the ri 5; and the one used in baseball or for growing corn..
ri 5 ,6 and 7 please? x
fa 5/6/7?
My "husband"and I have been, as he says, "happily unmarried" for 17 years. Were already in our 40's when we met and couldn't see a reason to do the legal thing. Might wake up some day and decide it has some meaning. Sometimes think about it when I want a blender, or a matching set of plates, or some decent silverware, but probably easier ways to get those.
stid - fi 5/18 is an evil person
*grin* I had insurance, and could cover him if we were married, then it just sort of lasted!
thanks vioxx!
just a few frs and I will be below 30! :-)
that makes sense. We would actually lose money if we got married.
sorry - got called away to make re-wiring decisions - was reading back, lol eva, we have much in common, i have same set-up with 'husband' as you, 11 years now, & i agree about the whole wedding thing - was talking about that last night in fact
ae 5/12 anyone?
opps, gotta go again, very nice meeting & chatting with you eva :)
nice to find a kindred spirit helen!
bye helen, and my dog is "calling" so must needs be off! later all, see you soon!
Popping in to see whether there's a clue or two for the last fi5 and the last fi4---?
kkiln, the ae5/2 is four vowesl with a "c" in the middlesee what your monkey can do
last fi 4 is an af 5 without the first letter
can anyone help me with the fa 5/6/7 that all come togetr in the list?
ylleria, I have that--in my list it's the third fi5. Also it's 5, not 4
also, ylleria, I clued stid on someof these f5's etc--scroll down
sorry hetty, i was thinking you said fr 4.
Thanks Hetty....my monkey went right to it.
hetty -i can't see any of those clues, and my browser crashes if I try to look at the chat log :(
pretty newbie, down to only 33 left today, actually had some time to work on this for once...af 6/30 anyone please
ok, ylleria--there's atype of high comic play called an fa***, it can be pluralized; if you change the last vowel it becomes french for stuffing--also can e pluralizedl
fa 5/18 - change vowle end of previous fa 5/16 - then build on for next words
gotcha - thanks a lot hetty :)
So, Dippnall, what about the fi5/18 (last one) nd the fi4/7 that follows it?
last fi 5/18 is the plural of the fi 4/8.
the last fi 4 is like fi* tree, plus another consonant
fi 4/7 - like a type of plant but begin fi not fe
Di 8/55?
di8/55 is very close to di 7/40, add one letter in 3rd from last letter
fr 6/30?
Hetty, you were a fi5/18 to introduce me to this!
get a fr.... to help you?
*headesk* thanks dippnall, I really should have seen that one!
Nope. That's not the one. I have: the monk minus his "r"; the lst part of the word "offi***"; the plural of that;the fi followed by third letter qaan dopposite o out; the meadow; the foul villain; the hangingfi**; its pural, and the one that sounds like a plkant. so--?viwen
aKacy---am using my monkey, but s
am using the monkey, but can;t seem to find it.
Thanks jill. I have thatfr.
Thanks dip--see below
hetty - do you have the fi that can mean movie (and it's plural)?
yleria, once you have the french stuffing, add a third vowel and then a second

I was wondering about that -- thought you meant to put I'm SUING!
Well, that's an emusing little story right there, em!
Vicuna, the image you have for your icon, will that be up on your site for sale at some point?
Hi Vicuna long time no see :)
It is already, nrkii. If I remember correctly, it appears with the nursery rhymes.
ah, didn't look there --- thanks!
Hi, faeriekae! I was on vacation last week, so I haven't been around.
Vicuna hope you had a nice vacation. I just got home from RV'ing over the weekend. Had a fantastic time.
It was a slightly odd vacation. It was my husbands work, so it was a combination of being very nicely pampered at very little cost, but also not really getting to choose what I wanted to do. But it was a vacation to Costa rica, and that can't be bad! Where were you RV-ing?
Vic-Wow that sounds like my kind of vacation. To heck with RV'ing....LOL....I just went about 2hrs North of where I live up on a River Canoeing and such.
Vicuna, I found it on your site. Thanks!
done
Well, canoeing sounds nice, too. All vacation is good vacation! (Even when you're making polite conversation to industry people when you'd rather be trying to see monkies in the jungle!)
*~*~*~*CONGRATULATIONS SCRAGGLY*~*~*~*
yesssssssssss scraggly!
My pleasure, nrkii. Now I'm off to get the kids started on dinner, so Good-bye, all!
bye vicuna!
Vic-That still had to be a wonderful vacation for you. I have a sister-in-law who goes with her hubby like that also...they just came back from Hawaii last week. And are getting ready to go to Greece at the end of June which should be awesome alos.
By Vicuna :)
One more word before I take a break: Can I get a clue for the di8/55? I have all the other dis

ad5/14 ... i have ad4/5
Take the w off how a duck walks

oh, i see. So, what brings all these people to play babble online?
If you click on the icons you'll get a profile which often includes the age, which can be considerable as in my case.
can any one help me with I words?
daisy, speak for yourself, I'm only as old as rocks
Idiocy, I guess, and a love of word play instead of Cold Play.

ftc, I followed a path from one blog to another to this, and got hooked by the second time I played
I'm curious about a clue given early this morning...long b4 I got up...found it in the entire log thing. tr 5/12 "in a flash". I can't seem to grasp that. any help pls? ty

silvertiger, ad 5 means to confuse
rhymes with up a canoe without a pa****
my constant state, nrkii:)
tndaisy, there's a way of doing something fast called "in a WORD FOR 3 times"
Look below a bit for Ashtangagal
ooh, thunderstorm -- yippee!!!
ty hetty:) I already had it. I just didn't understand that pre-dawn clue in the archives:)
because it was pre-dawn m'dear
nrkii! I love T-storms too!
thanks :) got it... a bit slow i am
I think this one is going to be disappointing though, seems to have ended before it got off to a decent start -- we could use a good whopper of a storm right now
did I say up a canoe without a PA****? how can you be up a canoe?
I was distracted by the thunder, yeah, that's it.
tndaisy -- here's the latest for weather reports here: STRONG STORMS MOVING THROUGH... THE FIRST 90 DEGREE DAY OF THE YEAR WAS ENOUGH TO HELP DEVELOP SOME STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NORTHWEST NEW JERSEY. THESE STORMS ARE HEADING SOUTH THROUGH THE RARITAN BASIN AND HEADING TOWARD THE NORTHERN PHILADELPHIA METROPOLITAN AREA. WIND GUSTS TO 45 MPH, HEAVY DOWNPOURS OF ABOUT AN INCH IN AN HOUR ARE LIKELY WITH THESE ISOLATED STORMS.

y isnt afice a word?
has anyone out there ever used a "clutter counselor" or professional get your crap in order person?
like a maid?
silver, I've never heard of that word myself, but I will say that sometimes you have to let words get sucked into the babble vortex and not dwell :)
but it sounds like a word...
not a maid, but someone who can help with unpacking, organizing, and generally sifting through things...
right---sure have
you need a professional organizer to help you
my mother
n if i get too hungry she cooks 2
di 8, anyone?
I'm stumped by id4/5 and id5/12.
di7 (plural of little chickens) and add a vowel near the end
samantha, add an extra vowel before last two letters of di 7
silver, ha!
what your car does at a stop light jillibus
gotcha, thanks so much both of you
thx nrkii
scribble, I've never heard that word used for little chicken -- are you making that up? :)
I've just learned that there is a National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization -- I so should be their poster child!!!
hmmm...my gramma always calls little chicks "di7"...im not sure if thats a meaning or not...so im not sure :)
a disorganized organization?
lol silver

Welllllllcccooommmeeeee Scribbbblllleeee!!!!!!
youll have to excuse our Tennesseean meanings for words ;)
ty faerie!! (((faerie)))
Silver, you know when they had their first meeting, someone in that room was pushing for them to be called the Disorganizationorganization.
LOL Nrkii
scribble, I love family words like that!
haha they shouldve gone for it
now, seeing the definition though, i'll remember not to use that unless its someone who knows what i mean ;)
y isnt chak a word? how else do boston people say chalk?
Scribble us Southerners have a whole diffrent language huh?
yes we do faerie :)
hi all...on my way to finishing my first ever babble...11 to go...any help with the probably obvious le 4/5 would be greatly appreciated.

gotcha, ty
or entranceways, usually with skylights and perhaps fountains
I just sent a pathetic inquiry out to 5 different "clutter counselors"... I hope to hear from someone soon. Anyone else interested, start with the Nat'l Assn of Prof Organizers (http://www.napo.net/) and you can do a zip code search. That easy! I was just too disorganized to think to do the search before now ... :)
Nrkii what type of clutter counselors are you talking about?
They come to your house, and help you figure out what to throw away, what to store where, etc.
Oh that type of clutter....I'm pretty good at throwing things away so I probably don't need any help there. I like to keep things as simple as possible
They help with all sorts of organization issues, even how you store files in your computer if you want. But I'm really looking for someone to help me make better use of my space. This house is great, but a challenge ...
I also donate to goodwill and salvation army.
I used to be the a pack rat up until about 2yrs ago and then I decided it was time to get rid of every single thing that I don't use or need any longer and I've done pretty good so far
Oh I'm a disaster, I keep everything. Once every two years, I get ruthless and throw out a bunch of clothing, but everything else I keep keep keep.
hi everyone :)
hi helen!
make room in that boat for me nrkii :)
help again, anyone...me 4/6, not the vulcan mind me**
el 6/21????
rant, to fix
I had a love seat that my Mom gave me about 23yrs ago and I loved it but had no place for it nor did I ever use it so I gave it to goodwill. Broke my heart but I feel better about it now.
rant. in the heat, chocolate ****s
Hi Helen :)
you don't have me 4/6, i can "fix" that
smokey, to draw out (a response)
hiya faeri :))
thanks, nrkii...funny...i thought i had that already :)
thnx...
hmm
the second fa6?
faerie, you're good! I have a table I bought a year ago which was perfect for my old house but fits nowhere in this house -- no sentimental value at all, but I spent money on it, so I just can't bring myself to get rid of it!
i'm assuming that leads to the fa7 as well
ni 6/21?
do you have the fa 5/18?
Nrkii - Sell it Hon.
yes and the plural of that too
something funny... (fa 5/18)?
rant, type of acid -- root word is common eliment
smokey, okay, first change that last vowel on the singular one
i thought i had all of those, too...grrr
after that, add another vowel to end
after that, pluralize
yay...thanks again, nrkii
you know my word knowledge is expanding, but my spelling is getting worse with every day I'm on babble (elEment, not eliment)
lol, cute! thnx nrkii
no, nrkii, don't listen to faeri, & don't use those 'counselors' either - they'll just tell you to get rid of your precious possessions so they can have them - it's just a trap, run ..........
lol helen!
*grabs Helen and stuffs here in a box* looking for duct tape now.
lmao faerie
lol faeri - no fair, faeris' supposed to be nice - see, nrkii - another tricker! :))
faerie, here's an example, I took a couple of the curtain rods from my old house to the new one -- one of them is for a wide window, or two side-by side windows -- neither of which do I have in my new house -- so here I sit with a very nice curtain rod and it's in the corner of my dining room collecting dust!!! I need help!
Ok - lets helen out of the box *sorry* I just got carried away <grin>
nrkii - aha, so that's what's happened to my spelling, i noticed the same thing right after i started playing tangle seriously - thought it was just me, but now your hypothesis makes sense
oh, nrkii, I completely understand. you never know when you might be able to use it, down the line
lol - faeri - thx -i'm not so good at holding my breath!
brb phone
i need one more 8 i have the di 8 and the ar 8, what am i missing?
ni 8
see dorens is right & as soon as you give it away, you will need it - that's like a cosmic law of some kind :)
comes off of the ni 7 which comes off of the ni6
and I have three rooms full of stuff that I might need some day.... I probably need more help than you
one last fi5/18
what makes it worse is that I have a deathly fear of my basement and attic (it's an insect thing) ... so I don't even like to store things !
Just finished struggling with the grid, and I'm now looking at 2 missing "r"s...any clues please for the last ri4/4 and the ri5/10?
i've got the meadow, the plural of fi4/8...
smokey, the fi5s are f+frozen waters, extract of fig tree, open green space, mean guy, movies
hetty, to anger
the ri4/4 is the little mermaid minus the first letter
a woman sits in her living room, drinking wine & eating shrimp. she looks around sadly, taking in that it is the last night in the house she used to share with her cheating husband. he received the house in the divorce settlement & would be moving in tomorrow. sigh
ri 4/4 - to ri** up
helen... is there more to this woman's story?
as all her belongings have already been moved, the next day, she sits in her car down the street & watches with a wry smile as her ex & his new wife move into what used to be her dream house
do tell...
the next day, she calls & tells her ex how much she misses the house, fond memories, etc. & makes him an offer - he promptly refuses
to riaa up? to ridd up? I have the one that rhymes with "mile"--is that what you mean by "anger"?
( it apparently was not an offer he couldn't refuse )
yes hetty
helen I hope this isn't your story?
did you get the one that is the same, but with the last two letters reversed?
a couple of weeks go by & she calls again with another ofer - again to be refused - also about this time, the ex & new wife notice a strange smell in the house -
eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwww
dorens - if only ....
Thank hon, I have that one. Also the litte mermaid minus her initial letter. So Whats left?
down to the final three...need help sm 5/12...i have one that sounds like it has something to do with the nose???
they get the carpets cleaned, drapes, upholstery, hire a professional cleaning crew, have the house fumigated - the smell is gone for a few days but then reappears - it is awful, gagging, they cannot stand to stay there & temporarily move to a motel
oh, hohw about ri + "** the world turns" ?
while they ponder what to do
you ruin someone's reputation, rant\
sorry to butt in between your story Helen
rant, to mess up, as in makeup
they decide to call our heroine & say they are considering her offer. she now hems & haws & leaves them hanging - they visit the house again & decide they definitely can't live there
nrkii that's then first one a I have it. Why does this always happen?
many thanks, dorens...i'm doing a little happy dance :)
they make another offer to our heroine, substantially lower than the value of her house - they just need out, figure she'll deal with this smell, let it be her problem
glad to help
hetty here are the 3 ri 4/4 words: ri + "** the world turns", little mermaid without the A, anger
there are two ri 4/5 words: white starch food, orange ri**
helen, anxiously waiting...
yes, how is this resolved???
c'mon helen
hetty, there is an ri 4/7 meaning split, and an ri 4/8 ice ri**
she accepts - signs the papers, then comes over to watch them moving out, a supressed smile & joyous heart - see our heroine is very clever - the last night in the house, after she finished her wine & shrimp, she carefully disposed of the shrimp shells in the curtain rods. she watches - satisfied - as ex moved everything, including curtain rods
My list shows 7 ri4 words, of which i have six, including the ones you suggest
I just listed 7 hetty
so one of the ones I listed you don't have yet
hahaha.... see how handy those curtain rods come in?
helen, that is classic!
Helen, you evil genius ...
so nrkii - keep those curtain rods -you never know who might need them - lol

We
We've been known to return to our parent's nest too.

There are two sm5/12's that I have. Of course, I'm missing two s's.
56 left, think i can finish in under an hour?
Make that one s...thanks nrkii!
I think whoever wrote that nursery rhyme was on opium or something!
3rd s is s4 meaning equivalent
hehe
You can do it, featherbee! This one is easy.
there's a whole thing about how some nursery rhymes were political
Featherbee - you can do it!
4th s is what you get when you sew two peaces of fabric together
yeah, i can do it...if i hush myself up long enough and concentrate!
*shutting lips*
Some nursery rhymes were political and others were warnings or talking of the times. Ring 'o ring 'o roses was about The Plague, for instance.
after cooking s is one that looks like it rhymes with LIFE
feather - being quiet isn't necessarily working for me - still have 9 to go
and then there is one more sm 5/12
go helen go
Done with the s's...thanks nrkii!
thx nrk -make that 8!
ty

(or a medical complaint)
the only actors name i could remember was markie post
I can't remember any of them --- ooh, John Laroquette!
roni - that ain't necessarily so - i didn't go pro for months, you can use lickety's list & get along just fine

that's the one that was on the tip of my tongue!
Roni, the stats only show up if you pay to go pro, but you can play without the stats for nothing.

Hello Roni. I've been waiting for you to show up. I thought your were my friend from NY who joined a while ago. She says not, though.

ok, i'm having a rough time wiht one of the fa 5/18s...not the funny kind of play one
ok lib - i was worried there, we all have our priorities :)
so you had a decorating epiphany that couldn't wait libarebel?
tyFran-- I've changed again-- couldn't deal w/ a real creepy-crawly
featherbee, it's a language from Persia
or at least sounds like one
fa5/18 means stuffed with ground (minced) meat.

ak4/8...related to
its a fi5/18

Jac...your fancy science clue went right over my little head UNTIL you said...rhymes with;)
good clue Jac
LOL, daisy.
af 5/16?
ad5/14 - opposite of subtract + French masculine.
i like that jacula edifies us with the proper definition before she gives the clue
af5/16 - scared.
*watching another E disappear...wishing that 3rd one would*
be back in a bit
and it just DID!
daisy, ilegal drugs are said to be il****
If you want a proper (non-colloquial) definition for af5/16, it is: A powerful evil spirit or gigantic and monstrous demon in Arabic mythology.
no it didn't:(
Fran - your clue for the ad finally got me to see the di words! thanks :)
thanks Fran...have that. and it starts with an I anyway! I need that E
yw firefly!
omg, jac, the demon did it for me! i had a kid in class once who was drawing one of those, and i kept having to have him repeat what he said he was drawing! i'd never heard of it before. don't know where he knew it from!
well...ok...I guess you were right...but it says I still need an E...gggrrrr!
daisy, it ends the same way as the il word
yeah I found that one...but I need one more E word...*looks around*
daisy, trees?
and I found the "making money" one
el6/21 - to bring forth or draw out. Add an e at the start of the li4 (legal) word.
yay!
el4/5 - trees, many of which have died from Dutch El* Disease.
I have the "legal" one that starts with E also *totally confuzed*
ad 5/14-- rhymes w/ what one is up the creek w/out
LOL, libarebel.
ty, Jacula :)
Jac! that's IT!
Well done, Daisy.
my grandmother used to pronounce that word a different way...made 2 syllables out of it
:/

Feather - the word you seek rhymes with the ri5 poison.
yes!
hi shorty! you need an insect icon :)
well, if i had the poison one....
I'm groggy, I clued wrong word
F + I + do something bad, evil, prohibited by church
just got it!
the ri5/12 poison is derived from castor oil right? or do i have the wrong poison, it was on a CSI episode
fran, I think that's right
shorty?
also, wasn't it the poison released onthe subway in japan a couple years back????
this is a first for me.... only have seven left and am finally checking the list. can someone help me with the cr 5/18?

Jeewhiz - for the ni6/18 - change the last letter to an 'ell of a letter. For the next, add a vowel. For the next add a curl,y plural letter.
Is there just one ta?
3 ta's
ta 5, ta 6, ta4
3 ta's, smithchick.
Okay, that's the two t's I'm missing then. TY:)
first ta sounds like the salt water candy sold by the mob

Dorens - stupidf word! I don't care di***y-squat!'

night dorens!
SA 5/12 & RA 5/10 please
night dorens, good job!
Well, it's taken me months mom. I've been at is since last July. Normally I need a lot of help to finish with no list. And that is with the stats...
How about the first combination fa5, and fa6?
Blimey! This is beginning to sound like some kind of porn site. LOL. Well, it might, if someone dropped in here to chat not knowing what the site was really about.:-/
Night, Dorens...
sa + frozen water (nrkii's clue I think)
Yeah! I have all the words. First time.
d7/40--plural of rock/r&b legend Bo's last name...
sa5/12 - sa + the cubes you put in a drink to make it colder.
ra5/10 is a plural of the ra4/4 before it. Lots of vowels.

fa5/18 is a comical production...then the plural The next fa5/18 you change the vowel at the end and the fa5/30 you add another vowel to that the fa7/44 you plural that
YAY, paget!!!
Porn? Somebody mention porn? What have I been missing on this site all these months? So unlike me!
me 4/5 - not a butte but a, found in the southwest
Ah, no wonder I was confused with the fa words...thanks for all of the help.
lol!! mom:)
Is it the one located in Arizona...a flat-topped mountain?
thank you! swear i tried that...
yep
Thanks, smazing--the obvious is sometimes so hard to find!
Well, I've got to go feed my face..Bye all!
yw
Bye, smith. Be seein' ya again sometime I'm sure!
Last me4 - sounds like a Jewish word but isn't. A broad, flat-topped elevation with one or more clifflike sides, common in the southwest United States. Also a city in south-central Arizona east of Phoenix. It is a winter resort.
Mom - behaver yourself!
Or even *behave.
We'll have no filth here. LOL.
EL 6/21 please
Behave? Darn! I thought being one step ahead of the law was sufficient!
How about le 6/18? I promise I won't bug you much more.
el6/21 - to call or draw up. e + your li4 legal word.
le6/18 - past tense of le5/10 - what you go to school to do.
Live and le***!
Oh I le6 (past tense) it differently...:)
Mom - you live in a trailer? LOL.
JeeWhiz - forget the 'ed' this time.
Mom - I am only kidding with you, btw.
got it hanks jacula
As a matter of fact ... not exactly. Manufactured on foundation w/garage & sunroom (both attached) but on leased land, so I tell folks I'm "high priced" trailer trash!
LOL, Mom. I knew you'd come through with a good reply.
AF 6/30 AF 5/16?
ronnielee, y/w.
af6/30 - a + meadow.
One left. Any ideas on what ri 4/7 might be ?
af5/16 - old word for afraid.
ri4/7 is a gap. If you argue with someone there might be a ri** between you.
mslars -- a division, especially between people
thank you :-)
thanks again jacula
great clues
mslars - I guess you can stop being 'Sleepless In Seattle' now> Sorry!

Calling it a nite, kids. Thanks for great clues (and yuks, Jac) Got over 50% so I'm done for today. But there's always tomorrow, tomorrow, ....
'Bye Mon.
'Bye Mom
nite annie, er, mom :)
'Bye Mom. See you again soon.
but imso close
Shorty - what do you need?
ar 7 ,8
ar 7 & plural 8 are things you read in newspapers or magazines. They are also 'things'.
down to 6
ri 6/24?
go feather!!!!!!
ri 6/24 - a type of puzzle
ar + to touch in a way as to induce laughter, then plural
oh ok ty
ri6/24 - a puzzle or a sieve that a gardener uses to rid soil of stones.
oh, w/out k
cr 5,12

cr5/12--makes "waahh" sound
got it
ty, Jacula--sorry about that :-D
cr5/12 - weeps
oh DUH
Libarebel - you're not a bit sorry and you know it! :D
1st FA 6/30 ?
di 6,7,8
oh, dear, you must know me a bit :D
1st faa 6/30 is the plural of the comedy play with lots of people rushing about, getting confused and going in and out of doors... think Brian Rix.
hi all, popping back in for a little bit, if i disappear abruptly it's because the guests i'm expecting are here.
Libarebel - a kindred spirit, maybe?
have the one that is a comedy play & it's plurals
I think so, Jacula :o)
ronnielee, there are two sets of words that start the same, one set is the play and plural, the other describes the play and plural
di6 - to swindle or to cheat. di7 - add a curly consonant at the end. di8 - just a stupid word! (Add a personal pronoun before the last vowel.)
HEY, di**** di****! The cat and the fi****.
FranMag - all is forgiven. I often disappear abruptly from here, and from other places.
DONE!!!!
I don't think many people remember rock pioneer Bo Di****, singular of di8/55
YAY FEATHER!!!!

Then have a good sleep. I have 10 more to go. The closest i've been in a while.

*mailing
NI Clues
10 words to go? Ask and they will be clued...
back again, must finish! got 31 to go tho...
6, 7, 8 thanks
right, it's stationery (my spelling has gone to sh** since I started babbling, ironically)
ni4/5 - not nasty
ni....one is kind, the rest follow the pattern of an acid
it's the paper one, not the standing very still one
oh, i'm getting to that point.
err, nrkii?? aren't they both spelled the same?
ni6/21 - na typer of acid. All the rest of the ni words are connected to that.
nope, the stand still one is -ary, the paper one is -ery (I remember that the last two letters of paper are er, and that's how you can tell)
nrkii - that's a great way to remember!
so a stationary bike is one in a health club used for exercise, and a stationery bike is a bike that hallmark uses for home delivery
can someone please give me a clue for ki 4,8?
LOL nrkii.
like the first syllable of the commandant in hogans heros ******* Klink
heroes
thank you nrkii!
stationary is different than stationery...
WhenI was taeching English, I used to give students the mnemonic of "e" as in PEN for stationery and "a" as in AUTO for stationary
And I used to spell teaching correctly too
so which one is the theme? :)
paper!
the theme is paper!
ty, nrkii :)
One of our local bus companies got it wrong about m5 years ago and still haven't put it right. A notice on their bus reads 'Passengers must NOT dismount ujntil the bus is stationery.' My Mum and me are still sitting on that busd waiting for it to become paper and envelopes or ink etc.
the theme is PENS
lolol, Jacula! :D
I went to a site that lets you design your own custom stationERy and preview it, and thats where I got my icon for tomorrow (which is up now).
lol jac
Jac, if you could get me a digital photo of that sometime, I'd be in your debt.
nice letter paper, nrkii :)
There is a website called banterist.com where they post grammar cop violations -- that would be perfect!
thanks lib

any other NI / 6 7 8 clues, the acid is now helping me
ki4/8 - harvest home, the last hand-tied sheaf.
If the acid is helping, may I have some, too, please?
change the last consonant of the 1st one and then build on it for the rest
Orrchid - k+ what sound like the thing you put someone's ashes in (that's the ki4/8)

fi 5/18 after the ghoul one?
there is an fi 5/18 that is a corn fi*** or ball fi***
the last fi 5/18 that is plural for the last 4/8
the fi 5/18s that I have are one that rhymes with mice+plural, the meadow, the ghoul, and the movies
there is an fi 5/18 that is a poison gas similar to sarin...
What I should have said, anders is the fi 5/18 is like the ri 5 that is the poison gas... just change the first letter.
DINO-I'M STUCK on ni 8, too...pardon the caps
thank you thank you
ni 8 is plural the ni 7, which is the ni 6/18 with an e on the end...
done anders?
any clues for the li6,18 or the 5,10?
one to go ... ri 5/12, not the starchy food
