no worries...we just wanted to get your attention eventually...happens all the time :)
it's ok we were just trying to get your attention! you're a speedy typer!
Lol, up with that head, and blame the site!
listen to sprite - she' right about the site !
& at stid's party there will be a man in cape who will do ma5/18 tricks LOL
here here :) hi Dianne!
oh helen, i was like, manly is not in the puzzle
LOL leslie
Was it just me, or did the site go down yesterday?
could've been my typing or your eyes, this time it was your eyes, :)
Morning everyone!
I still find that there is a lag when changing cursor position from chat to answer box-- the chat log refreshes and sometimes has misplaced my cursor (I think) :-O
morning kitty!
is that like what santa brings on christmas or you get on your b'day? gi**
hiya kitty!
I hope you all realised that the site is perfect and not to blame for anything at all! Bugs, faulty cursor positions and downtime, we just must get used to it. Or so I am told!
yes, pwinn, the site went down and we wonder why
Ah, just so long as it wasn't just me!
I've had no problems with the site... as long as I keep on an eye on where I type what
I was a bit bummed about having stayed up really late to get a head start, and then not being able to pick it back up and finish. But not so bummed that I won't do it again!
agreed sprite, I get more used to it each day...still a big change though :)
I think maybe that babble has become so popular that the website had too much traffic-- server(s) overloaded...
I think maybe that babble has become so popular that the website had too much traffic-- server(s) overloaded...
Actually, that is not MY opinion. My opinion is that there should be made some changes to the site, but I was told of for suggesting it.
by who, sprite?
What changes, Sprite?
no telling off here :( (sorry that happened to you though)
i suggested to dr-g the idea of private chat, like on some game sites - sadly, i was shot down
what would be nice, is if u could just hit the enter key instead of having to click on the add button
I think the cursor should jump back to the Add Word box automatically after posting a word. Seeing how often a word is posted in the log by accident. I mailed drG telling him almost all of us do it from time to time. I was told that was very untrue and less than 1% of the people playing babble actually did that.
Uncagain: that works fine for me. Type word, enter, and it is added.
enter works for me too!
*After posting a word should read: after posting a message in the log, LOL.
would seem to make it simpler
If nothing else, a word typed here in chat by itself that belongs in the grid might be auto-moved over. I hear you.
hmmm, someone asked the other day in the log how to turn it off b/c they hated how so many words ended up in the log
it would be nice to mouse over the letters, instead of typing them in - for those of us who are especially lazy & i AM raising my hand
You can switch to the "My Friends" tab, which should "turn it off"
sounds like a reasonable idea to me sprite...I know very little about web development...maybe that was just to complex? (it does seem to happen pretty often...1% huh?!?) I hear you too
i totally agree helen
that's what i suggested to them, just trying to add to sprite's point that it does happen a bit
hmmm... ometimes the enter key doesn't work, I then click ad &crash-- also note typing-- happens when log refreshes itself...
There are things I really like about the new site though (the enter system is not one of them...ask others who played with me earlier tonight)
Aye! Helen :-D
but on a different subject, how is glam not a word?
oh well...I have no doubt I couldn't develop anything as fun and enjoyeable, even with some of the quirks...still a fantastic game :)
Yes, I am pretty sure I am not the only one who hates all the words ending up in the log. But it was not discussable. As someone who supported this site from day one, I do not like that one bit. I asked a friend of mine who builds websites professionaly, he told me it is a minor change. Not hard at all.
I tried that one to Leslie
glam rock - t. rex - there ya go - it's a word fer sure!
too
but its cousin is, change the vowel
yeah but it's not as fun as glam ;)
I guess it's an abbrev. that hasn't made it into the dict yet, LA
tx mtn - & that would be what? disco music? :)
nah, i think that's the family black sheep, helen ;)
source of light from a candle... it gl**mers
Well, I can explain "less than 1 %". Of the people playing babble. No telling which part of us people chatting on a regular base that is of course.
Yeah, there are 133 playing right now. most not chatting.
Er, 137
yes - it gl**mers like a disco ball
They fear the babblefish being brought back....
I am gonna feed my kids their breakfast. Back later.
I'm chatting so much I'm not finding words :) (so I'm not ignoring anyone at this point...just trying to speed through before bed)
bye sprite
so long sprite...thanks for the thoughts
er 137?
see ya ****** !!!
i think he meant people playing, not words
liberebel, ... people playing, now up to 140
how come headache medicine isn't a word? I thought it was no longer a name brand??
tee hee...the babblefish :)
Need another vowel for that, knutmeg
which one meg? if it's not in the grid you can say it :)
oh, ty, pwinn-- thought was a word... :-|
aspring
aspirin -i tried it too
asprin, I mean
There are two 'i's in aspirin.
hi all
it's that spelling problem we all seem to be developing
OOOoohhhh...
thanks :-)

hi kier :)

obviously, not sleeping yet.
dang it!
wow sp**** - did your kids just inhale that breakfast, lol
sp 6/21 is that 7 a plural?
Lol, my kids are just being great. I have come down with a nasty bit of flue and I was just told to get back upstairs and let them handle things themselves :)
I'm *almost* in the grid today
hi kristin
flue, eh?
wow - great kids you got there :))) send them on over here, would ya?
this is the smallest grid i've seen
sorry to hear that, sp 6/21. about the flu, not the good kids
Leslie: no it isn't, it's a standalone word. First part is part of the endgoal of a running game, last part is part of what reaches you through a telephone.
Get well soon sp6/21!
Thanks! I am smiling over my great kids right now, aren't they sweet :) They are 10 and 8, I am impressed.
As you should be! :)
get well soon sp6/21 and yeah for the ggrreat kids!
ty for clue sp 6/21 - get well soon
ah, that led me to an fi 6/27, sp****!
Hello Everyone! This one is a little tougher than I thought!
yep , i got it too , tx sp 6/21 :)
hiya mrp :)
There's 2 of them there, at least, (6/27), sharing first 4 letters. And the 7 is in between them.
Hello Everyone!!
hi mrp

Hi Preethi, hi mrP :)
hi preethi

oh man!! thanks, got it! I shall just call you sp then!
oh, the sp 6/21, lol :D
what clue, when?
lol, mrp -- we have been referring to our dear friend as sp6/21 (kinda like a planetary designation or one of the borg collective)
Today I am known as 7from9 :)
LOL
six of twenty one! oh no, she is one of a kind!
oh, i must change my icon , brb
12:35 chic
wow, fr**--fr4/9 --is a real word!
geez, i shoulda got that one, liba - i say it enough
Ok, one more try for the 7. 1st 4 letters: we all start a grid and hope to f..... (use 1st 4 letters) Then we answer the phone and take a c... (use 1st 3 letters)
sp 6/21, I can't resist saying hello! This isn't the first time I've seen you out here in the village square.
Thanks, sp****!
fr4/9 is a handy word
got it...I kept trying to monkey out signal
Hi melissa, I have been there before :) Most interesting days in namecalling ;)

night leslie
Looks like a fever works miracles for my brain. Passed the 100 mark already.
Heh. You remind me so much of a friend I have in Greece (she's American). She loves wordplay and puzzles as much as you do. In fact, when I mentioned I sent the poem you posted a long time ago to someone, it was to her. Anyway, I'm always glad to see you, here, there, and everywhere!
bye leslie :)
:) Feeling is mutual, melissa, thanks :)

good night helen!
chic - what Jewish holiday?
the one that corresponds to Pentecost is Shavuot, isn't it?
shavuot
right - thanks
In Babbler's notes it says Shavuot; i took that to be Jewish. I hope that's what it is?
Hi stid

going well. good for you pwinn! half is a fine number...
'Course, last time I took a sleep break, the site was down when I came back, but I'm sure it will behave better with so many birthdays.
I plan to spend today painting and babbling -- and then my parents are taking us out for dinner... it will be a good day.
Who else is having a birthday? Looks like I missed something!
sounds like a nice day:)
That's a great way to spend your birthday :)
Oh, maybe it was only you, Stid. I'm still learning who everybody is, and I get confused.

It would be... ;-)
what stid?
ma6/30 - 1st 3 letters of ma 5/20+cross letter+ist 2 letters of a metal. [strange word]
ma 5/18 if i could figure it out...
thanks Dippnall!
so how does that add up to 30? i guess i don't understand the scoring system
thanks dipp, by the way =)
5 letter words are double points, 6 letters are triple...
4 = X0 5=x2 6=x3 etc etc
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh. i did not know that. as johnny carson used to say! =)

nope, sorry, doens't sound like that to me - I put a hard sound on the last consonent, maybe with a soft sound??
not that I have ever heard of the word before, though.
its the ma5 20 that sounds sort of like the italian mob
absolutely - now I get it.
hi eveyone - i've been off my computer for a while - but did anyone else have problems getting on babble earlier today?

Thank you for the fi clues.
Is it ca5/18?
probably! I was in the Northampton squadron, but our flying base was at Oxford and sometimes we came to brize cos my mum knew some of the cadet liaison people and they got us random flights where possible!
i am really stuck!!!! i need heaps of clues!
yes haz
ca5/18 - what icebergs and pregnant cows do
It's what my husband gets very messy doing!
lol true!
ogggy how many ca5's are there
2
The other is plural Abel's brother
maddie, which ones are you stuck on
well I never knew that word in relation to icebergs!! Apart from sp**** being in the grid today I am too if you take out the m.
i don't have it either then, rats
I keep seeing "piglet" in the grid...
haz what has an iceburg got to do with ca5
kitty, are they cute
Apparently, as well as meaning to give birth to a calf, to ca5/18 can also refer to pieces separating from an iceberg or glacier. You live and learn.
The other ca5 is plural of the name of Abel's brother.
it's a babble education!
scatty It means to break off an edge of an iceberg or glacier
well you learn something new every day
thanks haz
I like icebergs
We'll have to introduce icebergs into general conversation so that we can incorporate our new knowledge.
i am stuck on like all of them!!!! LOL
Hi Haz, Scatty, FMItch, Atlante
hi preethi
Although coming from the country that built Titanic, you'll understand a certain reluctance to talk about them here.
Good morning Preethi - are you well?
oh dear, this is just terrible
Hi Preethi
could anyone please tell me what pious means?
icebergs c***ing sounds like an earthquake or something. its a HUGE noise that echoes around around
Haz1558/scatty Don't you just love all this new knowledge? And it keeps the cogs turning..........I refuse to give in to old age!
Quite right, Frances!
Pious - devout or religious.
thanks
Bex, Pious= Having or exhibiting religious reverence
anyone anymore clues?
There's a word in your name Mina :)
If you get the scratchy it4/6 you'll find that there are words to be made from putting letters in front.
KittyVane/minapina And plural
Thanks for that Kitty hadn't spotted that and it finished the p's for me.
I didn't spot it either, until Mina posted
just gave it a go
This grid is even faster than yesterdays
i hate homework sooooo much i wish i could just babble instead.
glam should be allowed!
I so agree Atalante, can't tell you how many times I have tried typing it in this morning.
I KNOW!!! I AGREE ATALANTE!!!!!

How many words do you have minapina?
only 54....
only!!! i have 48
not easy when you're dutch...
sorry Haz. Was away. Im doing well. How are you?
You're doing really well! If you want more help, click on lickety's babble clues, at the bottom of the page, under Friends of Babble. It'll give you a list of letters and second letters and point values.
mina do you have the trousers/slacks?
Preethi, I'm fine thanks. I'd better go soon and get on with the day, though.
bex - think of a type of popular music (not rap)
slacks??? don(t know what tht means...
pop?
glam isn't a word?!
the bottom half of a man's suit
Hi all

Atalante Good clue!

Yes I did thanks Bex :)
Frances - yes, I thought FMitch asked for that.
Whjat
Am I more confursed than normally?
Our favorite dutch babbler is in the grid!
What a funny sign, bex. Where is it? Talk about the triumph of logic!
dont no where it is i just thought it was funny :)
It's great :)
Dear Dianne :) I was asking for the 6
what is the icon theme today?
Morning folks.
Morning Jacula
Hi Jac!
hi jacula
FMitch - did you get the 6?
I did with the help of Bex and Haz
Morning Jacula
hy :)
I'm missing one word - I am struggling so to try and find it but soon I will go in the begging asnd pleading line :)
bex, it's pentecost day
Jacula I love your kitties sharing a soak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bex - The theme today is Pentecost but I decided to go with my kitties in the sink icon. I was going to show you all my new hairdo but don't know where Paul's 'hidden' the pics on the computer.
Yes, they're gorgeous. Did they climb in the basin themselves?
Morning Jac, how did it go at the hairdressers yesterday, are you pleased?
Kitties do look sweet. Not either of my cats, who both detest water (except for 'hunting cat', who has been known to climb into the sink to try to lick up tinned salmon juice even after sink's been rinsed). It's a pic I found on the Net a while ago.
I had one who used to wait for the loo to be flushed then rush in and lap the water trickling into the bowl. He preferred that to his own water dish,
FMitch - Yes, I'm very pleased with the new hairdo. Thing is, to maintain it, I need a pair of 'GHD' hair straighteners. My daughter has a pair but is in the process of leaving home. I've told her she can't go now!
good excuse to keep her at home ;)
FMitch - If only I could! *Tear drops onto message log.*
ahhh there, there Jacs, no more tears or you will fuse the log.
*Wipe eyes and blows nose loudly on tissue.*
Well, I've steamed away and found 82 words in about 35 mins. Am beginning to grind to a halt now...
any clues for the am-5-14 please?
It is a good one today, I hit the wall but started to find more, got 25 left to go.
hiya sha!!
I hit a wall too, 22 left to go
Hi Sha - it's a friendly word, that am
someone shouldn't leave all those walls standing around :)
LOL
lol
lol fmitch
hi bex and amanda
Hi Sha - It means 'friend of the court' but sounds more like what an Italian or a Mexican might shout whilst standing on a chair when a small rodent is in the room, 'EEK! Am***!' LOL
amici
yikes, sooo sorry!
oops Cat, that'll be the one then LOL
thanx 4 that cat
I guess you were instinctively responding to that rodent, Cat.
yep, I think it is, so sorry all :)
LOL, true Jacula
Mind you, with your name, you should have been chasing it...
ok, now 21 to go lol
I thought I'd copy Bex and put a funny sign up - refresh! and probably look at my profile to read it!
LOL, Atalante.
love it Ata.
Me too
lol
its a village in Scotland I came across years ago
My wall has appeared at 79 - bumb!
*bump
I've managed to knock a few bricks out of my wall and find 89 words now.
hate those walls! :)
*Hands Amandacath a pad soaked with witchhazel to put on the bump on her forehead.*
found a small crack in the wall and got through to 85 - what's the 7? And thanks, Jac - will keep that pad handy
a clue for the T from the 4th row T? Am I being stupid for not seeing it?
lol ata just sen your pic :)
Can't help with the 7 as I'm not using a list (yet).
ti5/12? ti plus opti***
Nervous twitch plus Mr Gore (ti5/12)
thank you! don't know that word at all - my new thing for the day :)
I'm back to get some more. fi7/44 - fish part, a vowel and what dieters count

wtg sha!
Yay sha!
Well done, Sha!
thanx all bye see ya tomorrow
Thanks, Haz & FMitch for the 7.

Bye Sha - well done and see you tomorrow!
seeya, sha

stuck here at 98 words, thinking of going for the list
new funny picture!!
is that a real sign bex?
yea think so :)
What's today's grid like, folks?!
ok found a amzing one gonna have this one for a while
If we're doing road signs......check this one....and yes, it is real!
OMG! lmao!
lol!!!! :)
love those all!
The signs are really funny! That poor bear!
Frances - I saw that sign when I was out on the road with my lorry-driving o/h. It tickled me, too.
Didn't have a camera with me at the time.
You couldn't make it up
i think we should ask babbler to have a funny road signs icon day
grrr - even refreshed to see your signs, but the profiles didn't change. Care to enlighten me, bex and Frances?
Good idea, bex.
it is a real secret bunker, or a real ex-secret bunker that's now open for visitors?
Amanda - I can't see bex's new sign either.
i was just going to suggest that bex!
Mine is directing you to 'The Secret Nuclear Bunker'
mine is a polar sliding down a hill next to a sign saying watch for ice
refresh in the profile page itself
amanda click on the icon and see what happens
Atalante The latter
Paul was out yesterday in his truck when he saw a sign outside a place that read 'Plants for Sale'. Thing was, it was right next to a piece of wasteground covered with huge weeds.
nope, tried - it's really bizarre. New icons never show up without refreshing, but sometimes they change without refreshing in the profiles, sometimes they don't. Haven't figured out a pattern yet...
I've got Bex's new pic now. :D
i was on holiday once and when you go to restaurant and they ahve the menus outside in a glass case ell on the botom of the menus it said please trun over!
amanda, it has to do with caching, both on your computer and on your ISPs servers
LOL, Bex.
if you clear your caches, that might help
good one Fran! that worked. Love the bear, bex!
good morning everyone. 89 pretty easily and now came to a stop. wish I could read some of those signs, but they are too small for me
Good morning Eva
Eva - If you click on the profiles, the pics will get bigger. Morning, btw.
even in the profiles Eva?
Eva Click on the icon. It will bring up the profile with a larger image
Mornin', Eva!

I would love to live in Lost (and on 111)
i like the sign posts in shrek 2. 300 miles to far far away!! i would like to go there
poor Robert ASprin. he's not allowed
I'm at 98, still no list. Want to get to 100 and then feed cats etc.
OK - mine's a real sign, shows how textspeak takes over the world
Matty - I can't even translate that 2nd 'word'. LOL
mattygroves Guess that one must be in Scotland
oh my!
matty-what does the sign mean?!
something minster?
Stenhousemuir!
if that's an abbreviation it's not a very good one!
Is it Stenhousemuir (my spelling)
Frances - I just guessed that as you typed it.
I wouldn't know how to pronounce it even with the vowels! Phonetically, anyone?
It just seemed to me that if you'd heard of the place it became obvious
sten house muir
it is pretty phonetic isn't it? I think. sten - house - mew - r
Sten...house...mewer.
Any clues for the first 2 fi ? I need fi4/10 and fi5/24
a small wind instrument and a pie divided into more than four pieces
getting sleepy, found 102 and going for the list now
It is - stenhousemuir. I used it in a review of grammar!
You're kidding! I thought it would be something along the lines of Stennismere, or Stansmer - I was embarrassingly old before I learned how Grosvener and Worcester were prononced
ok im having bother here any one know what para-military means?
Paramilitary groups are organised along the lines of the army but are illegal.
thanks
hello everyone!
para-military are those rednecks who run around with guns protecting the northern border of the US from those dangerous canadian terrorists

and I dig the icon!
Anyone need anything before I go off to make lemon meringue pie, ginger muffins etc?

i mean as a wqord, not that I actually *have* them
jacula, when are you bringing them over to my place
done and off to make chocolate Kahlua cake! :-)
jac, just send us the pie, okay?
there are 12 words that start with one F...and 6 more that start with the other F
omg, i didn't even see the other f
Might be a little expensive to post to NY, jbp. I know it cost a fortune to send a hand-knitted poncho to my friend in NY a couple of years ago.
i only saw the top one...eek!!!
well, in that case, do let us know how the baked yummies come out!!
fa5/20 & 6/33 - think of a mean character from 'Oliver!'
thanks jac!
fa5/16 & 6/27 - what I nearly did when I was told the cost of postage to NY. LOL
i have to swoon and +s
old norse fertility god
in fi** and starts
fa5/18 - she has two sisters named Hope and Charity.
and sounds like on a guitar
also f+ what you gotta scratch
thanks Jac --was also a character on Buffy
and fa** to pretend (sounds like)
also to not succeed at something
thanks evanadine
so now I need 3 on each f... (can't believe I didn't see the 2nd one!)
fi4/10 - small musical instrument like a flute. Think of an old song... 'Oh soldier, soldier, won't you marry me? With your musket, fi** and your drum...'
oh, Barney's last name on the Andy Griffith show
or barney, on the andy griffith show ;)
frin
fi4/12 - sounds like something has been mended.
heh, great minds think alike!
om off folks have a good babbling day:)
fift
oops

'Bye Jean.
i don't get the mended clue
last one I need....ca5/18...any clues??
fi5/24 - first, second, third, fourth....
jbp - you will when you get the word xxxxxx
That was a clue, btw
how does the # one sound like something has been mended?
ouwa... if you cut something in half you ha*** it.
ca 5/18 think of baby cow

ah, jacula, you're slayin' me!
fi4/12 is the 'mended' clue.

adit
oops
thanks Evanadine!!!!
Hi Gang, I've been busy working b/c I have to leave soon, but I can't find the fr 4,9. Does it exist? Is there a clue?
merk, it's a bowdlerized version of the f-word
same as your other FR word, but change the last letter
btw, are there any ph words?
MA 6.30 pls . last one and too tired to count. TY
Ah, thanks

MA6 -- ma + what you do with a spoon, only change the first letter
thanks for pointing that out, shorty
so not only did I type in the wrong box, but there was a mistype as well
with a spoon? gag me?
your welcome!
afternoon all. i'm missing the i's from the second row, any clues?

hey there daisy!
hi:)
what's your icon?
i don't get the spoon thing at all. lol.
I don't either - the ma clue
is it an altar?
when your mixing ingredients, you put them in a bowl, get a spoon, and **** them together... just change the first letter, slap MA on the front and you got it
hey matty :)
ok, I know what you're referring to...just have to make it work
... fold? lol.
Sorry - me neither - I lie! just got it. Thanks to all - finished
ok, now i'm more confused about the ma spoon
mix
mash
that was a dumb word...no wonder i couldn't get it!
the spoon action does not begin with m
jbp - what you do with a spoon after you put sugar into a cup
finally found it...some word!
jbp -- make sure you read the whole clue! you add the MA before the spoon action...the spoon action is only the END of the word
stir?
i am so confused...
Nite all - enjoy your weekend!
good night lynxxx
bye lynxxx
This spoon is giving me a headache!
yes, jpg!
i concur matty!
thats the action, now you gotta change the first letter of that word, then put the MA on the front of it
nite, lynxx
now change that first letter and add "ma" to the beginning
and if you look at the grid, there are only 3 choices for what you could change that letter to anyway
ok, that is a DUMMMMM word... how about m+ not before (change 2nd vowel)?
that is one of the top ten dumb words
what an absolutely ridiculous word.
thank you all....
i'm with mia and annie on this
i bet it won't be the last time we see it tho
Help - ma spoon!
*whew* i gotta take a rest after that!
thanks for your help
m+ word for not before... change the vowel that comes second
"ya done good", evanadine
or, you could say, it kinda sounds like youre trying to say the word "master" with food in your mouth...hehe
lol
DONE...anyone need a clue??
Got it - what the heck does THAT mean?
i think it's the plural of mufti, which we've also seen recently
heh, no definition
I also have finished at last. Now to some more constructive work.
yay, ouwachita!!!
yay for ouwachita and inge!
that is a DUMMMMMMMMMMMMBBBB word jbp
hooray for Inge!!
yay, inge!!!!\
lol shorty
Anniebrook, are those waterlilies in your yard? We have almost the identical picture here. Never that many bloomed at once
gonna go travel around the net for a while...ill be back!
Apparently, it means this: refers to the final section of the weekly parsha read on Shabbat and holiday mornings in synagogue from a Torah scroll; technically, it means the person who is called to read that section
inge, i believe they are waterlilies. I had a sunset before but someone else had it before me so I changed my icon. Love all flowers, sunsets, etc.
A clue for the 'am' 5,14 please?
merk, think it means friendship in Latin (?)
merk., latin plural of friends, also actor don am***
I've been trying things like. I'll keep at it.
Latin word for friend, Don am****
lol jbp...you'e not old enuf to know who that is:)
am + 1st pers sing pronoun + do re ** + same pronoun
But I am
I'm using the first four letters of the spanish word for friend. Is that the correct start?
yuh huh!
yes
merk, then 3rd con, then opp of you
Thank you, I had to get the g out of my mind and go the other direction.
Got to go, will check in later to clue.
bye inge
Thanks to your final clues, I am finished. I'd better get out of here before my hubby returns. :-) I should be packing.
bye merk!
later merk

Anyone give me a clue for the fi that uses the x?
t
if you were asking me to repair something, you would say this, minus a vowel
ty, abe.....
yw
the FI with an x how many letters?
4
CJ - the fi with an x is a phonetic variation - we usually use "ed."
cheers!
Anyone have the al6/24?
pl of al5/14
whats the biggist word?
biggest
ca5/18 anyone?
It's what a cow does when giving birth.
misshoax - to give birth to a baby cow....

funny evveryone is getting stuck with that word
I didn't, CJ.....
It's a word fairly frequently in our house!
Thanks, atalante. Sending you some mango sorbet.
used fairly frequently, I meant.
Can't get the t from the 4th row......help plz.....
I didnt know about the word til there were clues coming out from every orrifice
Do you keep adiry herds, Haz?
are there any I6s?
No, hetty, but my husband is a vet and specialises in large animals.
atalante, l as in larry or i as in isaac?
I don't see any i6's t
yes and 18 and 27
No 6l letters for either i or l.

Ac5 clue?
I have a question: Is it no longer possible to close the chat log? I know I could in the last version of Babble.
top right lode speech bubble
ac + opposite of out + opposite of you
ac5 - add a two letter preposition referring to containment, then repeat the vowel. It looks like a Spanish or Italian word
thanks got it
Am I being dense? The top right bubble lets me view the entire chat log. I want to close it altogether so I don't get the blinking effect each time someone posts. I do that, but the log on the main page is still open.
The square does.. the bubble should close the log.
there are two on the top right one is to chow and hide the other is to show all
nope - that just hides the input field
oh well then no then
It doesn't close it for me. It only closes the input field temporarily, too.
Hmm.. I've obviously never used it. Maybe clicking over to show "My Friends?"
That is a solution, jrh. Thanks.
glad to be of help
fits
Why not minimise your screen and then drag the border in so that it hides the log. You can then hide or show whatever you want.
I mean minimise your page
al 5 anyone?
Help please - last one - am5/14 - down to the first knuckle monkey typing!!
jbp al plus a drink
mari, actor don am&&& last three letters not you, see, not you
al plus a card game
thanks frances.
and jrh
There are 2 fr's and I'm darned if I can find the second(have the French for "fried)
am 5/14 latin plural for friends
hello. the second icon on the right shows/hides the chat FIELD not the LOG. I don't think there's a way to hide the log anymore.
hetty f plus oil r** (platform)
fr... one is a bowdlerized version of the f-curse owrd.
hetty, if the second can be a stand-in for a very bad word.
change the last letter hetty
harp - click on the "my friends" - if you don't have any friends, nothing loads!
one is kind of like the part of a guitar neck
is the i5 an obvious word? am I going to slap myself with a fish when I eventually find it?
jbp thanks a million - we can now eat!!!!
lol jrh
atalante, it's not obfious to me
obvious, i mean
I think that's the way for lodestar to solve the problem
yw mari
oh good - I dont feel quite so dumb then!
hans
oops, don't mind me.
back atcha atalante
and frans
I don't think so either harpjane, thanks.
lodestar, what I do onc I've opened the chatlog for the day is minimize it--refer to it from time to time when stumped and minimize again. so I don't keep forever scrolling
atalante, apparently, i annoyed some folks earlier by asking stuff...
I'm using being ill as an excuse for being pathetic and not getting words!
why jbp, arent we here to ask and tell?
i thought so.
are you ill Atlante???
atalante, do you need the i 5?
I think thats silly being annoyedby asking for help. If people don't want to help, then they don't have to, but people shouldn't stop asking!
Thanks all. How my education is improvinbg I had heard that word (as a present partcipial substitution for the other "f" word) but it certanlt doesn't exist in my dictionary. Well well
yes please abe!
ifg she doesn't, I do abe
opposite of out + repair
gotit
xxxxxxxxxxxx
okay, please help with the 2 al words? will i need the fish?
in
thanks Abe! (my linguistics prof is rolling over in his grave)
mr gore + what you drink w/ tonic
no fish, add the lime to the drink tho
Ah, just passed halfway. Now I can say good morning.
it took a lot of monkeying
mornin' munner
jbp without the chat box ,there is no way i could get the words its there for you and me and anyone that need help or just chat ,
thank you, jbp
yw
Does Mr Gore get royalties every time his name is used to give a clue?

CJ25
Goes with hope and charity
one of the last 2 gi 4/6? i have presents
I need the 2nd fi 6/27
do you have the gi drink?
the one fi that's like the very very very last thing, but with a vowel extra
when you receive something you gi* it
covered in gold but different last letter
There's also a golden gi4/6, nasty people gi4/6 and a word that means wrapped around the middle.
oh, like a gi** monster.
thanks phandmd
jbp I think I have that one
the one I need is after the 7
ok, i mistyped the monster one
so it's actually a gl, so I need one of the LAST 2 gi 4s... either right before or after Britishidjits
rhymes with dirt?
missing Fi4/10 and F5/25? Are they linked?
I mean Fi5/25 and Fi6/27
thanks phan....
fi5/24 refers to a fraction, fi6/27 refers to a decorative detail on furniture etc.
do you mean fi 6/27 and 7/44?
so does anyone have the 2nd fi 6; the one after the 7?
got the furniture one
its the other 6/27
no got the 7/44
yeah that's the one i NEED
yey phand we are clueless together

that was cap lock by the way
how about the li before the bean?

that's the 7, we have that we need the 6 after it
today's phantom word for me is: private
hi tracymoo
i'm gonna bop off to lunch but bbl

right this is what we need Fi5/20 then the Fi6/27 before the fi7/44 which we have
:D
that right phand?
my phantom today is "finister"; the fi clues are boggling my mind despite all your best efforts
no it is after the 7/44
I need L's
is it?
"family" is another phantom right now...
it is immediately after the fi 7/44
I think I have that one
that Fi7/27 is not morning its ni**
Fi6/27 I mean
fi6/27 - the other one after the fi7 means limited.
so Haz whats the other one?
Ahh Thank you. So CJ what word do you need?
the other one hehe
and the Fi5
hey
the fi 5 before it is an ordinal number
The first fi6/27 is the ornament one - A word meaning last or end, and put the first vowel in just before the end
for the fi 6 you actually had typed part of the word in the log earlier you needed to add mr. gore's 1st name to it
my phantom words are filch and filth
No - scrap that. Put the third vowel in the middle position in the word.
thank the lordie
now Fi5
Happy Shavuot/Pentacost, everyone!
oh wait I just clued the 7 again. What an idiot
erm thanks Fiz

the decorative end of a curtain rod is the fi6/27

munner: what part of ga are you from
Just south of Atlanta. I'm the unofficial "ride to or from the airport". Are you in Georgia?
Yes, se ga--daisy near Savh
I am a teacher in Hinesville
lovely place though I've just been there one. My daughter and I really want to go back and eat at Paula's restaurant.
It was very good once. Now you have to wait FOREVER to get in and the quality has gone down since she became so famous
anyone have clues for the o in the topmost corner. I have the oa 4.
I figured as much. She appears to be a truly charming southern lady.
I've met her. She is so REAL and SOUTHERN charm just drips from her.
munner....op4/6 very big fish
Make that the only o! I am so used to there being way too many duplicte vowels.
munner, 2 oh. one soudns like popular talk show hostess

aww, thanks!
There are two s6 words

emsung - there is no ti5/14 - perhaps you are looking for ti5/12? Add what dieters count.
Or at least the beginning of the word.
yes you're right!
calories?
hello! how many words might there be today?
131 words today.
131
thanks much!
Yes, emsuing, you've got the word I was thinking of.
is it a normal or weird word?
It's not a word I have ever used. ti5/12 is formed by adding the first part of the dieter counting word. It means a type of coin.
ty so it is an ususual word, lol, i'll work on this!
got it!
thanks so much!
You're welcome!
sp 6/21 please?
sp 6/21 is one of our own Babble players, and one of the very best
sp6/21 can either be a fast run or a fairy like creature. (there are two of them)
and I drink a can of "it" every night at supper! lol

lol nuh uh! I had to "struggle" with it too!
leigh not a mac owner but a mac wannabe
*shakes head* why??
just can't get it together to make the plunge, the devil you know is beter than the one you don't, I guess
I meant, why do you want one? I guess it's like you said...the devil you know....and I'm scared of the one I don't.
I want a new laptop....trying to decide. Currently looking at a Dell. Pondering the Mac, cuz I've always heard good stuff...plus those new commercials make me giggle.
Dell computers are really cool...but their customer service sux like a vacum cleaner in high gear, trust me. I'm tethered to a technician.
Customer service is great, as long as you're still under warranty.

TY Vicuna, I am not 42 yet...
fa 5/20 rhymes with the new orleans mayor?
good one Leslieann!!
ahh - I was trying to hard to go the other direction...
the first sp 5 word?
I didn't realize that it was the age of 42 that counted. Maybe all 42 year-olds suddenly understand life, the universe, and everything. Can anyone here confirm this?
anyone got the i's finished? i only have two, in 4/4 and it 4/6
give me a couple years Vic
sp5/14 - health resort + greeting
Vicuna- YES!
maybe they know the answer, vicuna, but do they know the question?
The question is irrelevant
And are they telling?
Well - I'm just past 42, in fact nearly 44 - must say I haven't all those qualities just yet......
Is this Jeopardy, leslie
whew, because I was dyin' to know the word that meant: An Algerian cavalryman in the French army.
I am really hoping so Vicuna -- as 40 doesn't appear to have been ma 5-ical!
thanks Bugsy!
Vicuna you are so right 42 is the answer to life, unverse and everything!!! Unfortunately is was a couple of years ago for me.
sp 5/12?
Wait a minute, marymary - I see that you are 43. I think you've forfeited the knowledge by leaving the ma5-ical age!
any of them....
YW :)
You mean - I jsut wasn't paying attention and missed it!
Doh!
i-clues... scratch this, not out + repair
Well, I guess that's what reincarnation is for!
not out + scale note before do(h)
i have the scratch one, thanks for the other jbp :)
note to self... next time pay attention at 42.
yw
well, either way, at least we know to not pa 5!

i need one more i... have in 5/26 followed by in 4/4 , 4/6... I know it comes from the upper i...

LeslieAnn, go right through the whole song until you're about to "brings us back to do -o -o -o!"
isn't that a 6, Stid?
sorry, that's a 6... my bad. but you can take out the n and get a strange 5
sp5/12 - clear soda minus last vowel
I'm back! What have I missed?
oh crud i had that one already. and i really did sing the whole song.

Happy birthday Stid!
karys, i have the one with the note from sound of music at the end
jbp, are you missing the singing one? that's also like a common preposition, change the last vowel. Or did you need the Amazonian dolphin, with all vowels but the n?
it's the other one I seek
Are the o's totally obvious and I'm just an idiot? I've only got oa4/4.

any help with gi 4/6?
Help, I have a fa that is 4/14 and it is not on the list. It rhymes with ail. Any thoughts???
I need help with my last two, please. ca5/18 and ma6/30. Thank you
there is no fa4/14 on the list
Fran, i know this. Why???
ca5/18 is how a cow will stop being pregnant
what word do you have gardner?
jill, which gi4/6s do you already have?
rhymes with ail, starts with fa
gardner, there is a fa4/7 that rhymes with ail
it's the last one i need, not the golden or the boozy
bgl, ma6/30 is one of those 'not a real word' ones, starts like 5/20, ends with first 3 letters of drowsy
Fran, I was scored a 4/14. Just strange. I am new to this and was not sure
that is strange gardner, try refreshing, if it still shows, send a message to dr_god.
jill, gi4/6 that you need sounds like to obtain something, but change e to an i
Thank you Fran, i have refreshed several times and even now I am at home as apposed to work where i started this.
ialso have a gi 4/6 that rhymes with what you get on your hands gardening.
it think it happens occasionally to other people, probably a good idea to report it to dr_god.
OK, now the stupid questions. How do i report this to dr_god????
ok, i'm not getting the ca 5/18 clue. i get what you mean the first part should be, but not the last
NEither am I...
try the help link gardner
thx again, fran -- another occasion where i thought of the word but forgot a tanse.
feather, it means to give birth for a cow
i still can't get the last 3 letters of the ma 6 - i must be stupid
and apparently the other def is what you call it when an iceberg breaks off pieces
debbinla, last three letters are also a muscle spasm in the face
aaah
oh. duh. i was thinking singluar form of baby cow, not plural
thank you soo much -
bgl, if you still don't get it, it's also the back part of your lower leg
pluralized, but minus the s
debb, cancel that clue, wrong word! last three letters are like what a car sits on minus the last letter
FINALLY! Now, clarification on the ma6/30, plz
lol - i was getting even more confused - thanks so much franmag :-)
u guys got any new words

ive only got 9 words!
yep! he used to love biking around the roads of the island
eyes going blurry ;-)
it's also minutes from the north shore beaches
ok, need one more N. have: short sleeps, palm leaf and plural, opp. of day, and tiny bugs

Now for a bunch of ha's.

okay - so far I've found I need the ac 5/12 and the ai 4/4 (the first one)
ai4/4 is a+opp of out+plural
I don't know what a laich is, but gila should be an acceptable word, Dr. God!
ac5/12 is some obscure anatomy part, ac+opp of out+i

oooh, getting lots of those!
Hi folks. I' back here to clue for a while, if anyone wants. Sp6/21 is our no. 1 Babbler.
but Jac, your name starts with a J. ;-)
Another sp6/21 is what that aforementioned 2ns sp6/21 does through these grids.
FranMag - how kind!
okay, found one I can't get - the last la 5/12 (which I THINK is the tool one, but that's not helping me, either. ;))
shh, hang on a sec jac! ty though!
oops, never mind
once I thought about it, it made sense
shade, if you have la4/5 that means not of the clergy, add another consonant to it
yeah, I picked it up right after I said I don't get it
i was cluing wrong word anyway!! eep.
*Sits quietly in corner, having been 'shhshed'.*
lol, sorry jac!
i got 8 of them on my own actually, and already had yours, so it ended up being ok
brb
Have you just started the grid then, featherbee?
ok, i have: a bridge, what you do to a record, what ketchup might do out of the bottle, what you do if you have a yucky thing in your mouth, ill will, a piece of a branch, a race, and like a fairy. missing two, got a hint for those? thanks! and no, i started earlier today. have 25 left.
just had a huge gap with the SPs
feather, take a letter off of fairy
yay, only missing 2
jac, do you have a def for that first sp word?
i got it fran!
just because you said it was the first one
feather, I think you're missing the first sp
although I can't help you, as that's my last word. ;)

sp 5/14, where you go to relax + a short hello, for anyone else who may need it
that's exactly how i was going to clue it feather!

Now, does anyone want any more clues or shall I just sit in the corner quietly??
thanks everyone!
I think that was the first time I didn't have to list anything
Double well done then, Shade!
you're either up late or up early jacula. which is it?
I'm up late(ish), FranMag. I'm off to a music festival with my daughter in about 8 hours. Looking forward to it. My bags are packed, I'm ready to go... sandwiches made etc. And, just to prove I'm 49 and not 19 (like my daughter is) anymore, I've also packed paracetamol, earplugs and suncream. LOL.
lol jacula! better to be prepared i say
Last time I went to a music festival I think I just went! I was about her age then.
luck favors the prepared, jacula. sounds like fun!
even when i was young i always overprepared.
oooh, earplugs, thanks for reminding me, Jac.
an outing to the beach with family meant: sunscreen, something to sit on, towel, at least two books, a crossword puzzle maybe, music, snack
I'm going to hear a band tonight
shade, who are you seeing?
ScoutsMom - I hope it will be, weather and present day rock festival goers permitting... It's the Monsters of Rock Festival and topping the bill is Alice Cooper, backed by Deep Purple, Ted Nugent (that's who the earplugs are for!) and Queensryche. Not sure who else will turn up but I'm hoping Ozzie Osbourne and Lordi might show their faces.
hello
jacula! i want to go!!
hello harpjane!
it's a local big band - doubt you've heard of them. :)
anyone have a hint for the o's? I have 4/4 and 4/6? What is the size of the one I'm missing?
6/24 munner
Hi Harp.
unbelievable! you're going to have a great time. I'd never think a 19 year old would enjoy that, but my boyfriend's son is 14 and loves AC/DC, so you never know.
Ya' know alice will do school's out! have fun! :D
thanks, Fran. I may be asking for a clue in a bit.

hi, nrkii, stid, hoot, et al!
fa 6/33 is plural the fa 5/20: the badguy in Oliver Twist; fa + alcohol not rum
add cross letter to previous

ah, of course i'd get it with the alcohol clue. thanks
And she/he left
Hi everyone -- I heard the grid was up again and decided to come back to finish
3 hi's?
*giggle* hootowl, you're really on your toes tonight!
That was yesterday love

Hey woulf - I told these people I was the oldest but going on 12. Also said you would agree
Happy B'day stidmama hi nrkii!!

woulf, you missed the singing, so now you will have to solo for stid
ca 5/18 what a mama cow does when she gives birth...
good clue on that hi, stid, tx
hoot -- the grid was acting up earlier tonight as well
SEEEEEEEEEEE!
moos loudly?? :O)
ummm.... that depends on whether Woulf has a decent singing voice.
yeah it crashed earlier, just AFTER I finished, so it was probably my fault
nrkii -- I'd love to but then I might break babble again and that could get me banned
oh - wasn't on
okay woulf, you can just hum a bit
So I have only one left to find and it is annoying me because it is the 7
*quickly passes a slice of cake to woulf so he doesn't have to sing*
I usually am missing a 5 or a 6
want a hint, or prefer to work alone?

I don't think the flip is as fun now. I used to have a secret way to get the first post. no more. nada
yay woulf
I know how to type!!
.... it's the accuracy at speed I have trouble with
I just monkey fast and erase the extra letters as I go...
not yet
want to finish the grid for me? I only have 64 words!
wassup, do you need more clues?
if you can type and correct and still beat us - you are fast!
I think we compete more in cluing than we do in getting the grid finished
go MAMA go!
ti 5/12?
I do that too stid, but I see my errors about 3 words later and have too far to back up
I like cluing :-) but I enjoy finding them too
And that is why I don't come on til I'm done!
not tonite! too late..... I was trying before when Babble was being a brat
ti 5/12: more than one vacation -- plural the last 4/5
but of course, nrkii -- we all thrive on helping our fellow Babbler

After all the game is the cluing, not the finishing
good one nrkii!

Hi all!
