is it like babble?
i'm not allowing myself to lok at another game
i agree debbinia!
i need to go take out my contacts, owww.
yes - very addictive - polar opposite of babble - find as many words as you can in 2 minutes (also have 30 sec & 5 min rooms) at iwin.com
ohhh so maybe it wouldn't absorb so much of your time?
imagine if i did one sit up each time i entered a babble word. i would be like a godess
LOL kier! i should do that tooo!
kier - it's actually worse than this - it's like the slot machine addiction!
no tanglge for this tortoise
*tangle

fire - is tht you?
yes ma'am
firefly is gorgeous!!!!!!!
i was a June bride, so I figured that'd be a good icon!
very pretty fire
thank you ls1
i love your bouquet too - colorful, airy, unusual
my colors were peach and periwinkle, difficult for flowers, but i managed - the boquet was much too large for my small frame, including a dozen roses, but oh well
ar 8/50, related ar 9/66
i just saw your compliment of me being gorgeous helen, i'm blushing ;)
i can't wait until the new pirates of the caribbean comes out...
sorry, i just saw an ad for that =)

That is such a goofy word Haz, I didn't expect it to take it earlier when I found it, but it did :)
Love Togo's lol
I was astonished when it was accepted.
That one it accepts, but it won't take bandier, as in her legs are bandier than mine
lol
Yes, I was surprised when that one wasn't accepted. (Glad to hear you have nice straight legs, amandacath)

cr8=A colorless to yellowish oily liquid containing phenols and creosols, obtained by the destructive distillation of wood tar, especially from the wood of a beech, and formerly used as an expectorant in treating chronic bronchitis. That's always a good excuse, kateq! That's the wood-preserver stuff I was talking about
hey snoz - wo bist du?
I think I've cr5/14ed into the wall at 178....anybody got the other cr8 yet?
I have it amanda, build off of cr5/14, potato chips are cr***y
oh my - thats a silly word!
cat it wont accept it tried it twice now !!
here is the meaning for cr8, Curled or ruffled, as the margins of certain leaves
very silly Haz
for cr to put into a package box for shipping you use a cr***
found it - yes, it is silly. Thx cat!
you're welcome amanda.
and such a nice, BRIEF definition LOL
lol Kate :)

Found another 8, in8/45

16 pa words, dianne.
8's and 9 down - 91 words to go...
Hi - have you missed me? - so addicted, really hanging out for my new laptop so I can babble again!
hi lynxxx :)
Haz - Thanks.
the in 8 is in + cr6/21
any strange-beginning words, other than ts4?
Dianne - I've done something about your request - when you've time and inclination there are some stories on BabANon.
whoa - that in8 is weird!
the ce-8 means hornlike
Not that I have come across amanda
Haz - that's great. It will be my morning coffee break treat for tomorrow. Thanks.
You're welcome.
thx, cat
talk about a weird word, pe6/21, chinese cabbage
does it start with the house-animal or urine, Cat?
house animal

Hello everyone!
Morning all Rather a big grid today.
Morning FMitch. how many words in the grid today?
Hi Mitch, Preethi!
Good Morning Everyone,
Hi FM and Preethi
Hi marigold!
hey peri :)
Hi Cat, amanada!
273 words today
and peri!
Oops I have to run..
see you guys later.. bye
Haz - love the stories you have put up on babanon, the first one had me in stitches. Do write some more when you have time!
Glad it raised a laugh! I'll do some more when I can.
Hi Cat9x, chinese cabbage? dont know of any that start with pe
peri - for the chinese cabbage, try 'very small house animal in japan'
it's an odd word peri, a word for a house animal, plus a ***L Boat.
amanda anc cat, thanks got it, it is an odd word
you're welcome
yw
good clues ladies - there seem to be a lot of "more unusual thean noral" words here today.
sheesh my typing is at it usual low standard :)
We still know what you mean. At least you haven't descended into text speak.
may I have a clue for the 9
LOL I don't even know how to turn off the predictive text on my mobile (hangs head in shame) - this from a woman who installed a CD drive into last PC and rebuilt it.
My attempts at texting are pathetic. I still insist on using proper punctuation!
it all build's off of ar7/36 peri. from that you will get a ar8/50, then ar9/66 and finally ar8/50. A region of ancient Greece in the Peloponnesus. Its inhabitants, relatively isolated from the rest of the known civilized world, proverbially lived a simple, pastoral life.
ar9 - also ar7 & ar8 x 2 - think of a Shopping Ar**** but play with the endings.
Oh! I wish I hadn't started this puzzle. I have wasted ages trying to solve the te's (5's and 6). I hate this game!
No you don't, you're just experiencing a temporary dislike. We'll help you through.
thanks Dianne and Cat, so far I have ar4/4 :) Cat, your clue went right over my head
Sorry peri
It lulled you into a false sense of security Ex-Wren as there are only 7 x re's
and none of them are do-again re's!
That makes a change!!
one is, re621, so far that is, missing 11 R's still :)
Cat, found the ar7!
peri - the ar7-8-9-8, think heaven for video-game-playing teenagers
Great peri :)
amanda - inspired clue
thank you! ummm...I've got 8 re's...?
and its plural, ar8/50 but stuck finding the ar9 and other ar8 :(
I haven't progressed as far as the re's. I always work backwards, so I am only with the te's (JUST got two of them)
sorry typo 9 x re's
oh, then the one I'm missing must be the do-again one...
think the ending of one who tells comedy Peri
Cat9 found the other ar8/50 just as I saw your clue, still working on the ar9 though
well that was easy, found the plural and got the ar9
plural that and you will have it peri
bbl
bye peri
OK, cancel the immediate panic, got the te's
Well done! This isn't such a bad game after all.
Wren - the ta's are easy - just wait til you get to the st words - ugh.
Hi.. Im back for a few mins
Dianne - we're trying to keep her spirits up!
2 x st6's variant sp on the reoccuring cigar.
...and 3 men who might smoke them
clue for teh st 6 Fmitch
Just got there Dianne, don't like the look of them!
...and an st5, same cigar
my posting is a clue Preethi - another name for cheap cigar thanks amanda, didn't have that one.
I can see a queue of people lining up to try to clue those cigars!
Wren - think of the St5 word for horse and change the second vowel - then plural.
Thanks Fmitch
slaps self with the cod of doh and reminds self to always try a plural.
missing 1 o - I've got 3x oa, 1xog, 1xos...what's missing?
evening all
oo4/4
stead
opps
oo4/4 needs to join in
I have an oo4
of course...thought I'd covered all the babblets...thx guys!
Okay, while it's not actually raining, I'm going to take the dog for a walk. I'll be back later.
TTFN Haz
I'm finished :) Anyone need anything?
Congrats Dianne!!!!
yay Dianne! need 2 more e's, but I don't know which ones...
Thanks.
amanda - do you have the eo5/10 that is a red powder?
yep, I've got 2xea, 2xeg, 1xeo, 1xer, 1xet
I've been babbling too long - you said eo5 and I knew the word immediately.
frightening, isn't it, Mitch!
there is an ei5/12 and another et.
that's for sure amanda!
see - it happens to all of us, Haz - Dianne says ei5/12 and I know immediately...
Morning all. How's the grid today?
good morning everyone.
Hi Jac & Eva.
Morning Jacs, oh and Eva too!!! It's a big one but some good words.
Hi jac, Eva!
well I knew the eo right away, but guess I haven't been playing for long enough to get the ei off the bat. Any clues?
Oh good! It'll give me something to get on with after I've done my gardening and whilst 'Himself' is watching the footie tonight.
if I remember correctly it's greek souls - the ei5, I mean
An ei? Got that straight off. LOL.
Eva - ei + one taking of medicine - but drop the last letter.
thanks Dianne. I'll store it away for future use.
Bye all - have fun hunting.
Bye Dianne
Temple-babblets, temple-babblets!
WTG amanda, well spotted, I had overlooked that one.
I think that temple word shows up in more puzzles than any other word.
maybe we should dedicate it to blabble players?
according to Lickety, ante and etna are tied for first place on the "most frequent" list
blabble-Ilike that FMitch-since we do tend to chat a lot...
sote
sorry
afternoon all. is anyone else finding this a hard one today?
142 words and I can't see any more right now, this time yesterday I had finished :(
Hi Mia! First 100 or so are ok...
the pig call is there
good one eva!
i've found 52 and that was a struggle :/ it's all these damn vowels again, lol.
at 159 and pretty stuck
urgh. i keep wanting to enter 'goose'.
make that fowl more and you've got a 7, mia
good morning everybody:)
see, you wouldn't think that would be a word, would you. how can you be more goosey? how can you even be goosey!
i call ulu a goose all the time, but he says thats impossible he would have to be a gander
exactly mia!!
Morning jean goosey goosey gander, enable will make you wonder?
but i still think he is a bit of a goose
ok, I'm off for a while - bbl to finish!
now you've got me wracking my brain for the rest of the rhyme:
now you've got me wracking my brain for the rest of the rhyme:
=/, how can a male be a goose? Thats just plain silly
Goosey goosey gander
where do you wander, upstairs, downstairs,in my ladies chamber? Is that it?
That rings far off childhood memories Eva - you could google it.
think I will FMitch
okay, any clues for the n words? i haven't found a single one.
Goosey Goosey Gander where shall I wander, Upstairs, downstairs and in my lady's chamber There I met an old man who wouldn't say his prayers, I took him by the left leg and threw him down the stairs.
Well, that's 154 words I've found since I signed in. Time to do a few chores. BBL.
Wonderful, would be considered so politically incorrect these days, wonder if it has an underlying meaning like the "Ring-a-Ring-a-Roses rhyme?
and for you bizarre trivia fans:Zealous Protestants & Secret Priest Holes Goosey, Goosey Gander is a Rhyme with Historical undertones - an attention grabber for a nursery rhyme which uses alliteration in the lyrics designed to intrigue any child. The 'lady's chamber' was a room that once upon a time a high born lady would have her own chamber, (also referred to as a solar). The origins of the nursery rhyme are believed to date back to the 16th century and refer to necessity for Catholic priests to hide in 'Priest Holes' ( very small secret rooms once found in many great houses in England) to avoid persecution from zealous Protestants who were totally against the old Catholic religion. If caught both the priest and members of any family found harbouring them were executed. The moral in Goosey Goosey Gander's lyrics imply that something unpleasant would surely happen to anyone failing to say their prayers correctly - meaning the Protestant Prayers, said in English as opposed to Catholic prayers which were said in Latin!
Brill Eva - great minds, see my post just under yours.
never knew what a solar was either. I wonder if any children still learn that rhyme? It was right on the cusp of obscurity in my childhood
Very interesting Eva, thanks for sharing that!
If I had children I would teach them the same mursery rhymes I was taught and read them the same stories but add current day stuff too. For anyone thats interested the Ring a ring a roses that I mentioned earlier relates to the stages of the Blad Death/Plague.
N words, someone who "sqeals" to the Cops is na4/5:) Another word for "none" is na4/5, plural that also.
*Black death
thanks cat :)
quick off topic question you guys. do you know anyone who makes things and sells them?
na4/4, na plus 2 vowels, na4/4, na plus the first 2 letters of the sound a pig makes.
In what sense Mia?
i'm looking for stock for my shop. anything handmade really.
In which case you are probably lookin for UK rather than international to keep costs dow? You could post the question on Babblers Anon.
cards mia
i might do that actually, thank's fmitch. i'm interested in international too, but mostly uk i think.
do you have a website or anything rlee?
no, was just thinking about what i make, i make cards for friends, even sold a few
miametro where in england are you
i live in cornwall at the moment, but am moving to leicester in too weeks :)

Hi Haz, youa re back :) How are you getting on with the grid, I've given up for now.
Hello - the rain decided to come on with a vengeance while we were out so am slightly damp! I've got 67 words to go.
Shame re the rain and Oh wow re words left to find WTG!
hello everyone! abit late tonight!
Evening Everyone how are you all
Do you have the ba6/24? It occurred to me that it might be said by opponents of Dr Paisley.
Good evening mrpresident! I was thinking about you earlier and realising that I hadn't been speaking in a while.
Hi mrp
Hi tiny, haz et al !! I haven't been chatty either! Nice to see you!
MrP - good evening .. and no I don't Haz and feel sure I should be able to get your clue but am not right now.
Hi FMitch!
It'll become clear when you have time, FMItch.
273!! I started about 6 hours too late! I have to have some sleep before the 'big game'... I might be begging for clues tonight!
Who is playing whom today MrP?
Australia v Croatia, for a place in the 16... and Japan v Brazil... just for fun!!
morning all
You don't think Brazil have a chance then?
ooh good luck ish LOL
Hi Ornith!
Good morning Ornith.
Brazil are gonna have sushi !
now I want sushi mrp
Jera Are you babbling today?
I love sushi, sashimi, sake... mmmmm
Hey everyone
Good evening lickety - are you well?
How's this big puzzle going?
morning lickety! I love the improvements to your clue page
hello all, MR p. you got some sushi? yummy
hey, lickety!
Hey lickety, I've given up and decided to have the rest of the day off.
Praes, had some for lunch!
I've actually taken to going to the clue page first, getting as far as I can on my own, and then switching to this when I need clues/point values to go on :P
good morning all
Good morning abe.
hi haz, how 's the grid going for you?
Thanks Ornith! Hi Uneaixoise! FMitch - that bad huh?
It's going fine - I've got 58 left to go and working my way down the list to fill in the gaps.
Hmm, looks like I got 133 on my first passthrough :)
Ornith - you going to go Pro here? You should ;-)
i just started, i have a long road ahead
maybe when I have money, heh. starving artist.
There are some fun words to find. Miss Hilton even makes an appearance.
Haz - yes I'm well - going to go to bed early to watch Aus in soccer
it counts her? huh!
she's everywhere these days
oh, and i see that Ms. Nin makes an appearance as well
It doesn't give her in the dictionary - I'm assuming it's acceptable because of the medical connection with plaster. (Is that what her head is filled with?)
lots of phantom words today... arachnid, for one
Good afternoon!
Haz, LOL!!!
Good afternoon sprite.
hi sprite
First word I see:candida. Phantom as well.
lol haz. hey sprite
yeah, I saw that too
my phantom word: barrista! Morning all. Long one today!
I can tell I'm going to be asking for a lot of clue today, all these long ar's are killer
good morning!
asteroid, too
No Don Diego :(
hi annie
Grace - the coffee maker was my phantom word, too. Mind you, with the loss of a couple of letters (one of which is the initial) you can make a word .
True... I also keep seeing rancid!
thanks Jacula, I'd never have gotten that one :)
I'm taking a break for lunch.
Enjoy, Haz
Grace - take a letter out of that rotten phantom word and you do have a word.
hmm. my cat put his toy fish in his food bowl again. wonder if he's trying to tell me something?
Lol Ornith!
Lunch sounds a good idea, Haz. Think I'll 'join you' shortly.
hello, Jacula and Hax
*haz
Hiya Annie.
new phantom: disco!
thx Jacula!
and dingo!
phantom words ate my baby!
Goooood morning!
Oh thanks, Ornith! I'm singing that terrible 'dee eye ess cee oh' song now!
I don't know that one, thank heavens
I've a good mind to find an on-line version and send it to you! LOL.
Why am I so certain 'haptoid' was a valid word once?
ooo-- go tthe 9!
I keep looking for "oid"s too. and not having any of them be real words
haploid is a word
*ahem* got the 9
grace, what are the first two letters?
Ah, thanks Vicuna!
ar9
WTG Grace!!!!!
thanks, grace
ar7, 8, 9 all related...
ooh, clue for that lot?
Title of of Tom Stoppard Play
i need clues
It's a great run of ar's there ar7,8,9,8
think where video games are kept and add an ending...
You might play the slot machines in an ar***e.
ar7-8-9 - the myth is, this is where Cajuns came from.
Got the 7 and the 8, now for the nine!
dont miss the extra 8 guys after the 9
a much more intelligent clue Charm :)
And another 8!
oh sure, fake places and Ms. Hilton, but it won't take Crete
Well, we all found it already, lol.
Crete's been in the grid twice in the past few days. That's where I'm off to a week from now.:-))
thanks for the ar clues, grace and charm
Lovely Jac nice and warm!
the 8 after the 9 has me stumped...
Plural of the 7, Grace.
just a plural of the 7 grace
pl the 7
thanks, got the 7,8,9 ...is there another 8?
Grace - pl or the a7.
pl of the 7.
doh... a herring!
Annie - yes, 2 8's.
*singing all in unison*
adios
Soooooo sorry!
Oops, Sprite!
leaving so soon sprite? *wink*
thanks!!! got it, Jac, ornith and mitch!\
thanks sprite!
Lol, Ornith.
Darn darn darn darn site! Sorry again.
It's better than when someone said "ARSES".
That's another phantom word; darn.:)
True! :)
how come "dago" was a word last week but arab isn't?
Sue.:D That must've been funny.
'asian' isn't allowed either.
ok, this do5/16 is driving me nuts. I have the words above and below it, and I know from the count it has to include the P, but I just can't seem to find it.
and ptooie should def be in there!
Enable is nothing if not inconsistent.
do5/16 - move along little do***s.
or is it ptooey?
I think it's 'cos dago is a slang word so OK (relatively speaking) the others are propper words so dis-allowed?
or something like that.
inconsistency made into an artform for sure
can i have clues on e words
charm, that's do5/20
However, there is a pa6 (a dialect) that's allowed...
peanut, the ea's are anagrams of each other
Same word diff spelling.
Jacula - it was funny , particularly as there was a bit of an argument going on at the time and it was, er, misunderstood!
charm, I have one spelling as do5/20 and one as do4/9; I'm not seeing any other possible ones
Sue - shame I missed it. I like a laugh.
do5/16 - the canine + 2 vowels.
*blink blink* it's help if I did my math right
Ornith, the 2 vowels could stand for Lat for 'that is.'
yeah, I got it now, I was just being stupid, heh
Another phantom: 'oasis'.
Now I want pagodes.
not stupid - never that. just needed a steering in the right direction.... (or maybe just caffeine!)
yeah, caffeine may well be the answer to ALL my questions
Oh, and 'as**oid'.
I'm at 145... may need to go to a list...
Babblers are NEVER stupid. Just temporarily blind.
or bad at math, and trying to stick a P where it didn't belong, lol
go7/36 is a strange word...
but the go6/24 is a great one - take an animal and grow it into a beard.
clue, Grace?
More big ducklike than me for sure
Oh, I dunno, Grace, 'more water fowl like' is a word we use every day.:)
Thanks! Jac and Sprite
phantom word: paradise!
Big ducklike. I like that, Sprite.*grins*
Hehehe ;)
yes Grace! paradise, I keep seeing it.. just not quite
and parade
Thanks, FMitch. Hadn't spotted the beardy one.
I need to stop making up totally insane words. My brain is like "goosiad! that's... like a really fancy word for that duckling story, right?"
funny orth!
fmitch, can i have an intellectual shove toward the go 6?
yw Jacs
how about goosand
and lose a consonant from go7/36 for something sticky...
My brain just turns a blind eye to Di4/5. Is that telling something about me?
hiiiii :)
good morning, Atalante
nevermind fmitch. thanks for the clue before
Hey Ata! *hug*
haha, yeah, that took me forever too sprite. morning atalante
whats amusing is that I instantly knew which word you meant, sprite!
Hmm, dunno, Sprite. It reminds me I need lunch though. BBL.
:D
the 5/18 and the 4/6 are related to that one, grace. what a mess!
It took me ages to spot it, Sprite! Strangely enough, I got the plural first.
There is also someone who MAKES those things!
man, I really do need coffee or something. or maybe not to think about roleplaying games so much. phantom word: goetic!
my phantom/ non word of the day....bandaid
hey, I found one that actually does end in oid!
what is the di4/5?? Is it really obvious? What does is mean?? I'm feeling a lot of di7/36 at my inability to find it.
mine: pterygoid. and saracen - not that that would be accepted anyway!
Mine is stoic.
carrie: you might be on a di4/5.
Still beautiful words. Carrie: what you need to lose weight.
I love that word, Carrie!
jenny craig
Thanks for the clues---I got it. And thanks very much Ornith for suggesting that I might be on one!
Carrie, never mind, that is probably just projection from Ornith :)
lol, didn't mean that you NEED to be, just meant it as a clue
I'm stumped on that di7/36 though
Yeah. Sure. Whatever. ;)
Di7: someone who writes in a booklet on a daily basis.
and sprite, you're the one who said it's what she needs to lose weight :P
thanks, sprite.
The di7 (which I found whilst looking for the di4) has a common prefix di* that often comes with appear. Then add 4 letters to that that rhymes with the cannine Great ****
thanks, sprite!
Lol Ornith, true! That was 'you' as in 'one'.
aha, had the prefix, was looking at the wrong D. thanks carrie
Oh great. Sprite's calling me pudgy too. Yeesh. You put on a few pounds and everyone's a critic!
And Di7 regard or treat with haughty contempt; despise
in8 anyone?
(((carrie))) it's projection from my side too!
In + C6/21
great clue, sprite
That's it. Skim milk in my coffee today.
Still having the cookies though.
cool...didn't think that was a word...
I thought the whole point of skim milk was that you could take more cookies then!
hmm, not the c6/21s I've got. didn't really think so.
Ornith: C6 = make
thanks sprite!
Sprite--I had a housemate once who did that. She'd get a box of low fat cookies and eat them all and wonder why she still put on weight. Ah well everything in moderation--except Babble!
cr8 is a fun word...
think burning logs...
and yeah, Grace, the in8 is a theological word.
I think it is used to paint fences.
ah, the fat man!
I second that, carrie! :)
my aunt and I would do that - we'd end up in cafes and have huge pieces of lemon meringue pie - but that was ok cos it was with diet coke LOL
oh...I thought it was left behind in the process of burning wood. Shows what I know!
Lol Ata
I'm back for my last 60 or so words
I thought so too grace. might be both, though. I always think of it as the man from the Monty Python sketch though
Atalante, I always crack up at the people who order a big mac and a diet coke
hah! forgot about him!
It is both, I looked it up.
oh yes Ornith! LOL at least we used to do it and not *really* believe that diet coke made everything better :P
Not getting the cr8 clues at all. Anything else?
yeah, I always liked the "broken cookies have no calories" rule. though I always wanted to just break all the cookies on purpose then
diet coke counteracts many foods, including chocolate, candy, and french fries
abe, chocolate is healthy now, didn't you hear?
I used to get skimmed milk lattes but a full fat blueberry muffin from the coffee shop. Mostly because I hate artifial sweeteners.
cheesecake.
I always drink diet coke cos I can't stand the taste of regular coke!
I don't like di4 coke. How about me ordering it and NOT taking it? I can eat 2 big macs then :)
Whether d-coke is worth it in the calorie-counting business is neither here nor there, since it tastes terrible!
i didn't ornith, but with that in mind, i will be sure to eat it more now!
yeah abe, they're saying it's good for your heart now! dark chocolate is better
d coke is definitely an acquired taste (sorry for saying a word before)
morning... still puzzled about that CR 8 clue...must be from a different era.
One of the cr8's they put on railroad ties, as a preservative, I guess. The other builds off of a cr5/14
i love dark chocolate....
Cr8: yellowish to greenish-brown oily liquid, obtained from coal tar and used as a wood preservative and disinfectant. It can cause severe neurological disturbances if inhaled in strong concentrations
wow you're smart sprite!
the second cr8 has me stumped...
Nah, the dictionary is! Cr8: Curled or ruffled, as the margins of certain leaves
was teasing you sprite. I didn't think your vocab was that good!
the second one sounds like what happened to your potato chips
The last Cr8: something with a 'bite' + past tense of what you would do with it.
Thanks SPrite...glad there is wikipedia...
ah...good clue sprite!
;) yw!
IS the other CR 8 after the C5/14 that happens when there is an accident.
ac7 please?
thanks, found it.
all I know is it's not acetone/acetose, charm :/ stupid phantom words
thanks for the cr clues everyone! (btw, a lady in my office just went around handing out bags of m&m's to everyone. what's a girl to do?)
ayup, Ornith - lots of phantoms today.
don;t have that one yet kklin
new phantom: asteriod
Actually it is, Ornith! LOL, only a synonyme.
Thanks Sprite for the last CR8 clue...finally got it!...good clue!
Don't fight fate, abe! :)
they have peanuts, sprite, so i can have protein too :)
guess I don't know that synonym, sprite
Ornith: a measure of certain playing cards
that did it Sprite - good clue!
That's a well balanced meal, abe ;)
thanks sprite
I'm still missing a cr6/21
cr6/21 - think of skulls plural.
One is make, the other sounds like a girl's name.
grace, I have skulls and make, missing the last one too
got it! thx HAz!
Oh, true, and that one too.
You're welcome.
ornith-- sounds like ar6/18
oh, it does sound like a girl's name. thanks
which makes the 7/32 a latin-style plural.
barista is not a word?
two rs, charm. but try dropping the first letter.
Sure it is. Only enable doesn't know it.
oh, no, it's not 2 r's, it's just stupid enable.
thanks, Ornith - just finished the a's and moving on to the b's.
oh? what are the ac5/12 and ae6 then?
ba6?
wish I knew :P
ae6 - to introduce air (often to your lawn)
Ae6 = Ac7 minus one letter Ac5 = playing card + first two letters of large.
ba6 is a variant spelling of a tropical fig tree.
I need some g's folks - got the sticky ones (3), the 7, the animal ones (3), and some others sprinkled around - any ideas?
Have you got the provoking words?
amanda: the big duck minus last letter?
what are the last ar6+7 pair?
thanks, Haz - never seen that spelling before.
fig tree?
The last ar 6 and 7 pair are 'masculine' versions of the preceding 6 and 7.
ar6/7 - several pair - all similar - starts like nobility.
amanda, ge4/6 and 5/14 Japanese sandal(s); go4/7 deities
thanks charm
Also diseases of herbivores, especially sheep G4 G4/5 wooden-soled shoe(s) worn by the Japanese G5/6 hypothetical surface(s) of the earth that coincide(s) everywhere with mean sea level
And fireworks :)
taking a break with 170... bye all!
alright, got the japanese sandals now, thanks Orinth, working on the provoking words, possibly have the earth surfaces (will look up the word I have), will look for sheep disease...
1st ce6 and 8?
yay sprite!
yay sprite!
Congratulations sprite!
grats sprite!
ce6/21 - sounds and looks like a type of edge achieved by cutting. The ce8/50 has the robot ending.
yay spritey!
Ce6: hard, unctuous, fat- or wax-based solid Ce8: like that Ce6.
thanks - I had the 6 - sheesh. but not the 8.
I am off for now, time for the kids. Have fun and happy hunting all! :)
does the sheep disease end like a disease?
amanda: it's the gi. it ends like short diseases do
bye sprite!
nvm - monkeyed it. Now for those provoking words that are provoking me!
the provoking ones are also the stick you do the provoking with.
ar5/12?
angelsong, it's a type of palm trees. anagram of "a care".
oh duh - fish! I thought about that word(s), but was too stupid to make the letters fit together....
So is that all your g words complete?
no, still missing 4 of them...
let's see. I'm missing a few myself, but there's, hmm, "is your wife a go4/6, nudge nudge, wink wink?".
How provoking!
that's exactly what I thought of when I entered that word, Ornith! :)
you don't mean the billy-animal, do you orinth? who wears another g, and whom one g4?
nope amanda
it's a person who does a very short verb
Jen, did you notice Mr. Cr8/45 is here too?
oh, have that one already
Yes, I saw that earlier -- didn't make the connection 'til I read the post, though. LOL, it's a MP day
ooh, phantom word: petard
no gois in this grid - guess it's spelled with a y
yeah, it is
meh. and phantom peyote, too.
Has Fairie been back yest since she flew in and out earlier?
I tried every possible alternate spelling for peyote I could think of - no luck
Not while I've been here, but I was off for lunch. Will there be bloodshed do you think?
oh bother - I'm going to the list for the rest of the g's...
Probably the ex bosses?
I wonder if she still has that paint gun that she confiscated from her nephew?
I'm back!!!!!
Okay - what happened faerie?
Oh yes good thought!!
I went in and he jumped my butt again calling me names and I told him to stick his job and got my stuff and left
hmm, any hints on about the first half of the ra's?
Oh wow! what did I miss, Faerie?
Good for you!!!Did he think you were going to take that sort of rubbish?
I don't allow anyone to call me names and especially a boss
are you ok faerie? oh that's terrible
Oh heck yeah the employees in the past let him call them names like Bit** or Fuc**** Bit** but not me
Are you going to be OK?
Yeah I'm ok..... {{{{{Hugs}}}} Thanks your all your concern.
that is terrible, good for you, faeriekae for not taking that kind of abuse.
Sorry I can't type right now
Thanks for all your concern :)
faerie, what a scumbag! do you have any sort of sexism case, or was he like that to everyone?
(((faeire)))
I will find another job I just have to keep looking.
faerie - would Lucas's paint gun not come in handy?
LOL Haz yes it would have been great to have had the paint ball gun
Ornith he treats everyone like that including his wife
It's not too late.......
{{{hugs faerie}}}
Plus he was into Tax evasion
Thanks (((Ata)))
I was thinking more "everyone male and female", cause if it's "everyone female"....but geez, his wife's gotta be an idiot to stay with him
Oh geez - one of the g's I was missing was a plural and the other three were completely obvious!
Yep his wife is a coward in my eyes....I've never heard anyone talk to employees the way he does
lotsa hugs, faerie. You're better off without the stress of dealing with such an ugly person
amanda, can you help me with the three right after the "nudge nudge wink wink" go then?
Thank Amand it is going to suck for a while but I'll bounce back I always do :)
you dont need that kind of abuse. (((hugs)))
Thanks (((Annie)))
faerie - you knw where we are when you need us (((hugs)))
those were the three completely obvious ones - if you're on a d4/5, you can't have any g4/7 stuff - go from there
{{{FMitch}}} Thank you sooo much.
oh, duh. went the wrong way through the OO.
lots of g6/27s for faerie!
me too, ornith
Awwwwww thanks Amanda :)
hey, maybe faerie could give the IRS the go5/16 on her boss' tax evasion? :P
that's an idea....
Ornith what a go** idea LOL
lots of di7/36 to faerie's ex-boss!
he's sh4/5 on her for the last time!
You guys are awesome THANK YOU!!!!!
who knew how many useful words there would be in the grid today huh!
LOL
He deserves all the cr4/6 he gets!
fitting, isn't it?
I'm back, btw.:D
LOL Jacs
he is a ra5/12 (insert c after the n and before the i) to4/5. stupid boss
Faerie - It's very easy for bosses to think that, since jobs are rare as hen's teeth and workers are ten a penny, they can treat people badly. Well done for showing one that he CAN'T. (((HUGS)))
amen, Jacs!
{{{{Jacs}}}} thank you so much
well, I think I lost a message in cyberspace, but anyway.. I was saying - Happy 2nd day of summer, all. We had some bad storms here yesterday, but I think they dimmed by comparison to faeriekae's rightful indignation... good for you, faeriekae; no job is worth the loss of your self esteem and no boss has the right to treat others with such disrespect! So, how goes the grid today?
we'll da5/14 on his cr6/21 and shove a go4/6 up his na5/10!
ca4/4 like him need their eg4/6 deflating.
oh hey, it is officially summer now isn't it? it's been summer weather here for weeks now so I forgot
You guys rock !!!!
Greetings and happy 2nd days of summer Aoly.
and I'm getting so many excellent clues :)
clue for that na5/10 amanda?
Amanda - LOL. V. painful!:D
Hello Aloysius - the grid is interesting today.
alas that it doesn't take nads!
I suddenly want bandicoot
with or without chips Atalante?
howdy, FMitch... busy chatroom today! (-:
ooooo! with chips! and mayonnaise!
Hello Aloy - the grid couldn't be ap5/12 today! (Re Faerie's tale.)
Hi Haz... and Jac; I see I have a lot of catching up to do!
na5/10 - same ending as Niles' never seen ex-wife (Frasier)
It has been a Faerie tale morning LOL
LOL.. so I can understand the chat!
lol, I was thinking of completely the wrong part of the body
funny you should mention her, Haz. Was watching Frasier this morning and wondering whether we ever ever see her ...
alas nates isn't in there today, we could have lots of fun with that one...
No - she's never seen. Just wonderful descriptions.
ROFLOL, Amanda.
hmm, 216 and I think it's time for me to ask for a whole lot of clues
could I have a clue for the IN8 plz?
hello, looks like a fun one today! how many words?
starting with ce5/12
I wish she was seen just once!
jakes-mum - in8 means existing without having been made.
jakesmum, it's in+cr6/21
273 words today goofball.
ty ornith! thats been bugging me for hours!
The producers felt that it would spoil the magic as everyone has a mental picture of her. Besides, where would you get an actress that thin and that pale?
whoa, the firs 35 just flowed out of my fingers! wheeeeeee...
haz: thin? that's easy in Hollywood
Calista Flockhart?
lol true ... but thank you for answering that question for me, Haz!
*guffaw*
Atalante - love your icon, meant to say ages ago. that is a beautifl outfit and the jacket you are wearing looks like it has been heavliy embriodered?
anyone got my ce5/12 clue?
working on it, ornith...
ce5/12 - add the last part of West Side Story heroine
wasn't sure if the request had gotten lost in the chat
Yeah ATA Beautiful!!!!
omg that bodice thing is divine - let me see if I can find a better pic of it - one of my school friends who now designs wedding dresses professionally made it
thanks haz!
um a clue for the RE6/21 plz?
ok, cr4/5 right after the 8/45?
You're welcome.
.. and I looked at the link you posted this morning - that is some schol building - where is it?
re6/21 - to record something over again
that's a knife, ornith - generally spelled with a k, I think
its Stowe School - near Buckingham
CR4/5 a boys name, or knock the last letter off the the RE5/14 after is
Take the last letter off the crackling cr5
thanks
ty haz
Oh that's Stowe - heard of it many a time but not seen pics.
ok, the ei and the eo (e-i-e-i-o?) and the et5
my last word! SI5/14?
si5/14 - when people are held prisoner sometimes one of these develops.
si5/14 - war thing, nobody gets out alive
eo5 - add the biblical word for wrongdoing.
Stowe is *gorgeous* - its a National Trust property as well as a school!
My teabreak's over. I'm going to save the last 42 words for this evening. See you later, folks.
et5/12 - a french word, but just add a recording method. to the e.
bye, Jac.. see you later..
ei5/12 - add Spanish for two.
ok - here's a pic where I don't look *too* horrendous! http://www.atalante.f2s.com/w20.jpg
sorry - need some more help with that si5/14 please.
charm: it's what you do to a castle
yo mama sucks
si plus part of what comes out of a chicken, then a vowel.
ty all, yay fireworks!
I was at Stowe a couple of weeks ago - it was gorgeous.
grats jakesmum!
yay jakes-mum!
Congratulations jakes-mum!
GOOD MORNING, I WILL TRY AGAIN. LOL
wtg jakesmum!
ty all for your help! xxx
were you? oooo - its pretty now the south facade is uncovered again!
Bravo, jakes-mum!
Oh, Haz and Ornith - I was not only looking at the wrong s but going in the wrong direction. Caffeine, please!
yo mama so fat she is almost as fat as u
coming right up, charm!
tfh, if you're going to tell yo mama jokes, at least try a little harder than that
Not to worry charm - glad you got there!
Congrats Jakes-mum!!!!
Have to leave now, but will be back later.
It was wonderful - and a gorgeous summer day. I loved it.
see you later haz
bye haz
Bye Haz :)
Bye Haz - thanks for the help.
alright, where are my next holes... the first ha4/5 and the first ha4/6
Byee
see ya haz!
bye haz, thanks for all the help
cheerio, haz
ooooh I bet! its just a lovely lovely place to be
the ha4/5 is a babblet - warmth with the vowels backwards
haa4/5 - a babblet. ha + ** the extraterrestrial.
I've got to run but I'll be back in a bit to finish thank you EVERYONE for all your well wishes :)
feel better faerie!
later, faeriekae...
a babblet??
ha4/6 - play with the letters for the next ha4/6.
first ha4/6 I've got is generally seen with mis- in front of it
yeah, an unusual word which comes up in babble.
thanks guys.
how can there be a word between one "Billy" and several "Billies"....go6.24?
hmm hmm hmm... first na4/4 and ni4/4, and all three oa words?
babblet - no one's ever heard of it, but it repeatedly and stubbornly shows its face in the grid
chiley: because the first one has a little beard
quaker oa**. then reverse the final 2 letters.
chiley - what the billies wear...?
one who eats quaker oa**.
OOOH....forgive me...I must be blind
yo mama so dry from not getting any action she has to pour salt water down her pants to keep the crabs
alive
na4/4 - another babblet - na + 2 vowels.
ni4/4 - ni + spanish for yes.
tape
thanks! just that last oa4/4 from that batch. and then os5.
so5/14?
os - twig from a willow tree. That helps, huh?
thanks 4 the clues
so5/14 - calling the pigs
oink oink. thanks.
yw!
amanda: it does when I ask onelook
I never knew how to spell that word to call the pigs, but I knew how to say it!
ah, the joys of reference works at our fingertips!
I think I've seen it spell sou-eee or something like that
alright, through the o's!
Now when I'm reading a novel and see an "interesting" word, I think, That would be a great Babble word.
first and second pa5/12s?
first one is a song, second is a shawl (I think)
USA TIES IT UP!
oh, duh. that second one is more like a... a wrap. like you'd wear it as a skirt.
Oh, gotta turn that one. Thanks, Fear
Goodnight everyone 101 will do me for tonight have to get up early in the morning
hey - some people are watching the game tivo-ed!
oo oo oo turn on TV - find remote, quick!
I hate words with too many vowels, lol
pe5 and pe6?
pe5 - pe*** pe*** pumkin eater....
Lauren, I forget sometimes and do that to my son who lives two time zones away, especially after I've just finished watching LOST.
...and find that it's the CzechR - Italy game that's on
i love it when i hit do a typo and the word is accepted! lol
He and his wife tivo almost everything.
pe6/21 - domesticated cat/dog + japanese bon*** tree.
0:1 for Italy, if anyone's interested
WTF, that guy was diving and that idiot ref knows it
good clue, Charm. Thanks.
oh, man, that is so not a word in English. stupid enable!
um. k. now about the first half of the ra's, lol
Ghana evidently just scored again...
yes
the ref is a freaking blind moron ~_~
Atalante - you still here and have you found a pic of that lovely bodice?
Just found the USA game.
... and it's half time for the game
I can think of a number of my former students from Ghana who are going crazy with anticipation right now.
hello Munner, I was asking about you yesterday, hadn't seen you for a while.
aha. done (or should I say goooaaaal). what help can I offer before I go do something worthwhile?
What did you teach, Munner?
Hi, stidmama. I had a rotten week but am coming into my good days now until next treatment.
grats charm!
YAY Charm!
hi stidmama
and I'm missing tons of ra's - mostly the first half of em
hi, everybody - lots of words today
My most recent teaching was ESOL, kindgergarten through high school. My Ghanian students were in the high school. Had lots of Cambodian, Vietnamese, other West African, and many Hispanic.
sorry to hear it was a hard week for you. Glad you are feeling a bit better for now.
ra4/5 - Indy drivers ra** cars.
congrats charm! hey ping and stidmama and munner
hi abe
Hey, Abe.
ra6/21 - measure of part of a circle. ra7 is pl.
it is a long grid today, i've gotten lots of great clues from everyone
hi all! I dpn't know if I should try to play today or not. How does the grid feel to you-all?
got that one charm, missing the next four.
ra5/12 - transistor or am/fm ra***.
Is ESOL the same as ESL? My mom taught that for a while? She had lots of Koreans
still here - I did post a link wayyyyyyy back - but its here: http://www.atalante.f2s.com/w20.jpg
ra6 - pl of the transistors.
anybody else get the 9 yet?
it's not difficult, however, there are some weird words and a lot of re's stidmama
just curious... already got it myself :P
oh man, I'm missing obvious ones today
I've played lickety's list today stidmama rather than the real thing as it is so big and have enjoyed the chat.
NO, I do not ahve the 9 yet.
ok then, the 4/4 after those
ra4/4 - ra + 2 vowels.
ra5/10 is pl.
Atalante, that is a truly gorgeous dress!
wow, too many vowels over there :P
hi stidmama... this grid is nothing like yesterday's; my nose has been to the "gridstone" for a while, and words are NOT flowing... it is a challenge. (-:
stupid vowels.
That's what I was thinking of doing FMitch! :-) Thanks.
Oh Ata, I missed the earlier link but thanks for that. Absolutely stunning and I love the way the bridesmaids are linked in. Who is the little chap on the right hand side all dressed up and being good?
had to try and look pretty somehow ;) and the dress designer made me a dark green skirt to go with the bodice so I can wear it again and again at balls and things - it seems such a waste to only wear once!
er, any help on which vowels? I've monkeytyped everything I can see without success
he's my nephew! the twin of little dark-haired bridesmaid and younger brother of little blonde bridesmaid! he was very good for about an hour ....
orinth - it sounds like it could be a woman's (or godess's) name
Ornith - go down to the s at the bottom.
An hour is a good lenght of time LOL
bbl.. I need some bagel power!
My music isn't too loud for y'all is it? Good am
ah, the one vowel I didn't look at
thanks also Aloyisius... I am definitely not going to try it at the moment, but will see how I do with Lickety's for a bit.
Ornith - it's a common babblet.
and then he ran round being a nightmare adn insisting on putting his jeans back on :P
ok, last missing ra... the 5/12 after the stuff that falls from the sky
ornith - maybe it's the noun for when butter has gone bad?
ra5/12 - like the da7 (the jitterbug, twist, macarena) but change 1st letter.
sorry - da5/14.
thanks so much charm!
man, up to 246... the last hundred on this one are hard :P
the re4/4 right above the 6 and the ri4/4? (and charm, don't let me keep you here longer than you wanted to stay)
Gotta go now and hit the WalMart before the lunch crowds. Hate that place but they are so *%&!)%&* cheap.
re4/4 - like the 4/4 just above it, but change the final consonant.
ornith - that re4/4 is also a babblet, shows up again and again. Alt sp. for chinese fried grain?
I guess I just don't know all the babblets yet
you'll get there soon enough, Ornith!
ri4/4 = ri + ** good ** it gets.
as is the ri - a turbellarian worm, have fun looking it up. and Ata's right - you'll learn them quickly!
dammit, a fly just appeared in here. gotta go deal with it
cr8?
2cr8's - stuff they put on railroad ties as preservative and curly around the edges
...or (2nd one) what Brits did to their potato chips
I need the ar 7,8,9,&8 to finish. Could I get a clue?
hi bunny! A pastoral place in greece?
eck, I keep getting these HUGE black flies in here, and I have no idea how. dead now though.
bunny v- tv show joan of ar*******
or "et in ******* ego" if you like Latin or Brideshead Revisited!
I'm assuming they are all variations of eachother?
yep
plurals and such
ac 7 please?
sa 5/10 and 2nd sh5/12?
sounds like nail polish remover, change middle letter
sa5/10 - sticky plastic wrap
sh5/12 - more bashful
ok, got em, ty!!
abe, that is what I have been trying. thanks... *looking some more*
top card + measure of something
got it abe, *sigh of relief*
cannn't get the cr8/50
which one, angel?
*sighs also* it took me a long time to find that one before
Oh, go--! Just noticed I have passed the halfway point, my self-imposed rule about going to the list! :)
250 words... wheeee. second so4/5, sp5/14?
cr 8/50 - add onto the cr 5/14 before it with past tense of eat
oh, sorry. Crunchy + nourished oneself
way to go Munner! :-)
so4/5 - soft drink
oh man, I'm being blind this morning
I think I'm gonna take a break, hopefully come back and tackle all these Ss and Ts later
(though I keep getting to this point and not getting back lately, heh)
the sp5/14 must be a wierdo - calling my monkeys for that one
sp 5/14 - where you go to relax + opp of bye
thanks bunny!
ok, monkeys found it - sounds like a kind of pasta without the middle syllable...
ok, now gonna go take a break
youre right amanda...that sp5 iS a weirdo..lol
later ornith...
thanks for the help all
bye orinth
has JBP been around lately?
see ya, ornith
i havn't seen her, bunny
IONLY HAVE 18 WORDS WAAAAAA
ty, there are so many people I first started playing here with I don't see anymore...
I'm off for a bit too - back later :)
bye atalante
i haven't seen some people in ages
I'm sure they'll all be back - or are playing later in the day
argh! missing one - must go back and count
Found it! Fireworks for me!!!!
Amanda, you should splurge and upgrade. I see you playing all the time, it's worth it when it comes down to finding those last few.
CONGRATS AMANDA
Congratulations AMANDA!!!!!! WOOHOO
HOW MANY WORD FOR TO DAY? PLEASE
Well done, Amanda - I think it's remarkable the way you do it without the stats.
yay amanda!
YAY amanda!
273
OMG
Hey faerie! How are you?
ditto to what bunny just said
see you all later!
later abe! thanks for the help.
bye abe
...she must be lost in the grid....
I better get to, having all the kids home for the summer is tripling the load of daily housework!
should we send out a search party for faerie?
later bunny!
lol, looks like it!
bye
Lickety's list is just as good as the stats, just means switching windows a bit more. And I already splurged this month (today in fact) on a haircut and highlights - my budget is sadly too tight for such luxuries as a pro-account
ac 5/12 please
nvm, just monkeyed it
hello all!
amanda you are right about lickety's list it is very useful but you do realise that the payment to go pro is a one off, not a monthly thing?
hi firefly!
hi stid - your icon is very pretty, and I'm sorry you didn't have a dress of your own :(
well, didn't actually have a wedding... we eloped! :-) much less costly and way less stress!
mine is actually named "June Bride"! LOL!
Yeah, Mitch, I know ---- Italy just scored another goal, btw ---- I'm always tempted to upgrade, but I repeatedly tell myself, as long as I can play I'm happy
ah, well, as you can see from my icon, I went the whole other way!
that is so funny Une! very silly looking creature...
amanda someone is looking in pain -just turned over to the match.
oooh -- is that YOU? wow, you did go all out. But you look so happy, not scared like I would have been with lots of people around.
Yeah, I think he just got a leg in the stomach
yes stid, that is me! we actually spent about 6K, which was quite good, and mostly from my parents, and we had about 100 guests
gorgeous, firefly!!
I may just have to check out the hot spots in town tonight - there'll be lots of celebrating Italians out and about!
well, I am going to go lie down. I have some sort of bug today, and not doing much at all... back later.
woohoo amanda - save one or two for me
I'll see what I can do, Mitch!
OOOOOOO - Pavel Nedved without shirt! Quick look!
Une - thank you! Is yours a llama or an alpaca? i'm guessing the former...
see you later maybe then stid - feel better
LOL - down girl!! behave!!!!
Get better, firefly
llama mama
But it's PAVEL NEDVED WITHOUT A SHIRT!!!!!!!!
amanda - stid's sick,not me!
Une - i always liked my dad's llamas, liked the noises they made (he just had a pair for fun once, no real purpose)
Wow - that's a feast! Sorry, firefly - was distracted by PAVEL NEDVED WITHOUT A SHIRT!!!!
Well we know what to send you for your birthday then amanda!
Yes, send me Pavel! He's retiring, so he'll have plenty of free time for me.
I'm not really a raving soccer fan - drooling over the pretty boys is my way of dealing with having to deal with it
Oh he can be your play thing at your beck and call. Actaully that sounds a bit icky but you know what I mean (I hope)!!!!
Ghana wins 2:1 and is into the next round! Go Ghana!
Whichever way you mean it, I'll take him Mitch!
Good morning everyone!..... :)
Morning Rees
Love your icon Reese - Happy Bunny rocks
Hello everyone!
hello newcomers - slow chat this morning...
thats odd.
I'm outta here - happy babbling, all!
firefly - Hi - think the log is recovering from the racing pace that has been sustained for hours now. Don't forget all the different time zones :)
yeah, i get all that FMitch :) I just rarely see the slow side!
firefly, gorgeous picture, is that you? Verry pretty!
yes it is - i'll go fix my profile so it says as much and people can stop wondering! :)
It is a lovey pic fire and I love yr boquet.
*taking bows* thank you, thank you both! fixed my profile too
Anyone notice that the phrase, "Ye, Gods!" is in the puzzle? Somehow apprpriate....

That is great, Firefly- you made my day!
Only have 15 to go til Fireworks....<chug, chug, chug>
WOW - go jaia! where's your June Bride icon? not a lot of participants yet...
I was a September bride....LOL

I don't have any scanned pics of my first wedding, and I really don't want to remember that one anyway. and o/h and I aren't married yet...but when we are...however long it takes me to reel him in....I promise that pics WILL be posted.

gotta skiddadle brb
can anyone please give me a clue for the as 6 21
Just worked through Lickety's clues and still only have 47 left. That sounds like time for a bit of lunch and a nap, don't you think?
ruthy, it's how Cinderella's hands and face looked after she cleaned those cinders.
as6/21 - having more of the contents of the grate after a fire.
ty munner and haz
Hiya, all you good, good people!!!!!!
You're welcome ruthy.
You're just buttering us up, movieman!
then he's gonna turn us into popcorn and eat us!
hello children!!
ar7/36 - think of shopping ar**** and put a different ending on (as in Spanish day). Build on this for ar 8/50, ar9/66 and ar 8/50. I'm anticipating your request for the big words, movieman.
hello, sportsfans! I'm back to babble on for a while.. ooh, it's tuff going today..
Hello boreetos!
Boreetos, hiya!!!!!!
phantom product: band-aids
ar7 or think of where the Cajuns originated
phantom country: Egypt
Got 'em, thanx haz, but that still leaves 11 more 7's & 4 more 8's......
ac7/32 - botanical name for maple, followed by past tense of 'eat', ce8/50 - ce plus rodent plus robot ending, cr8/45 wood preserver, cr8/50 - English version of potato chip, followed by 'eat' past tense, in 8/45, add a normal word that means to manufacture/make, often in an artistic way. Hope that helps movieman.
thanks, haz!!
thanks haz!!!!
You're welcome!
haz, I needed that boost! Thanks so much. (-:
I'm having trouble with the list- it won't load. What comes between the three cigars and the three goofballs?
Glad to help, Aloysisus - I know what that slump can feel like!
In the st's
The word is past tense of 'to stand'
I have that- which means I must have them all, but it is not showing that....hmmmm....
There are 8 st words where the third letter is the fourth vowel, if you want to check them off.
Thanks Haz!
Got em- thanks, Haz!
Glad to help.
bbl - have to eat!!!!!
Enjoy your meal.
im out too, bbl .:)
I should go too - people to be fed!

LOL... I thought the "whew" was for the grid!
I need help- I have seven left- they are at the end of Lickety's list, and for some reason, the list is not loading my words. Will someone hold my hand and clue me thru the rest of the remaining words? I am so frustrated, I could scream!!!!!!
ghostword of the day: bandaid. that is all.
chores, chores, chores, be back later!

a synonym for dad
pope in italian
Got em- easy as "pie" <wink, wink>
(-:
bbl

Have the piggy-toe one...
All I have left are five from the "T" in the third row...
Alo, are you there?
just me, maybe?
and i'm not nearly halfway done yet
Ping, can you help me- my Lickety List is down.....
yup, do you have the one that is a pl short for a drink, a hot "***dy"?
(didn't know how to clue that one!)
Just give me the clues for the last "T"'s on the list...

to4/5 and 4/6: you have (amphibians), then the one I just gave..then the piggy digit.. and the to's are done..

hi, movieman..
pe6/21 - dogs and cats plus artificial intelligence?
alo, you are doing good!
ooh, I'm glad you got the clues!
(apparently it's really a Chinese cabbage?)
strange one, pe 6/21
dunno!
artificial intelligence? apparently im not that smart....
Like that clue Vicuna!!
hi (again) folks
There was a movie with that title, I believe, directed by Spielberg. It's just initials.
vic, the pe is a chinese cabbage?
I just need the clues off of Lickety's list for the two I need- I'll find them...
back to finish off the twentysome s's and t's I didn't get this morning
That's what the question mark by it says, Ping. I am not myself familiar with it!

Huzzah,Jai... (-:
I wish I understood what happened to Lickety's list in my computer- it got all fouled up....
great job jai!!
the pe6 - think of an animal you keep at home (3 letters) and add a typical Japanese ending (another 3 letters).
Thank you, Aloyisius! <Big smackeroo>
yay jai!
well, I would like to prolong this babblemania (I'm blushing, jai).. so, I will leave the final 16 for later. The sun came out, and I need some vitamin D.. later, all.
Now I can give clues.....
Ty, again...
my pleasure, jai... you helped me to see the t's, actually..
hmm, looks like I'd better read the log for those Ts :)
Yes, and ask Lickety what happened to the list in my computer.......
back!
Hi, Atlante! Aloy is a hero!
hi Atalante!
yay for Aloy!
Does anyone have a clue for the 9 letter?
Missing 10 7's.....I have ar7/36 & ac7/32......cluez for the others plz....
etape
Whoops!!!!!
a clue for the ac7 would be nice...
The nine letter is part of a "family" of words- they are ar7, ar6, ar9, and ar8- ar+ pitch-penny ar**** + the folks from Canada- Cana*****
movieman -- share the two a 7s with us?
di7- one who journals
that's ar8, not 6
thanks, jai!
ac7/32 - narrow pointed leaves, it's like a word for cut or abrade minus its initial l, or it's like a playing card plus what you do to a movie to determine whether it's PG or R
thanks grace!
yw!
ac7=ac+2nd vowel+rodent+2nd vowel..... ar7=shopping mall with Spanish ending.....
thx Vicuna!
ok, down to 9 left, time to beg for clues again :)
si5/12?
Go for it, Ornith!
one si5 is where the hobbits live
Si*** when do you need clues????
lol
si*** I started playing :P
"si5/12 you've been gone, I've missed you"
Missing 9 7's.....I have ar7/36, ac7/32, & di7/32......cluez for the others plz....
ok, then a bunch of st's.... third 5/10, the 4/4 and two 5/10s after it, and the last 5/12
Third 5/10 is st+three vowels in a row....
movieman, go7: more like a water bird, di7/36 what you have for people you think are beneath you
st4/4- two vowels, I think
I underst*** your needs....
past tense
I hate the guess-the-vowel words!
Me, too! Try the O first....
what about that 3rd 5/10 from the top? ste**?
I'm missing a bunch of ar words... is there a second ar7 clue?
Beer ste** not out but **
you told me three vowels! :P
oops...
though there is one of those, too
can't count... but can spell!!! LOL
two of them :)
yes, there are two....
ok, first ta4/4?
Grace, I clued the ar words at 1 pm
Ta + L** Angeles
to4/4
and then I have to figure out what one I'm missing - think I may have put one in lickety's list but not in here
to+ two vowels....
I'm finished
Fireworks
I've got the group of ar7,8,9,8. The other two ar7/28 are still eluding me.
Congratulations Angel what timing LOL
Yay, faerie! Congrats!
thanks jai! lemme figure out what I'm missing then
grats faerie and angelsong!
Way to go faerie, esp. on this puzzle
yay faerie!
Thanks Munner :)
Angelsong, too.
Yay, Angel %&%&%&%&%&%!!!!!
hello again - congrats faerie and angel!
You guys are the greatest thanks!!!!
yay Angel!
I have to go put down mulch now but will be back this evening for clueing........Happy Babbling
I need a NAP!!!!
bye faerie - nice icon :)
Before I leave for a little nap, let me introduce you to the beautiful June bride in my icon today. It's my daughter-in-law (with my son) on their June 20 wedding day six years ago. Marrying her is the smartest thing he's ever done, and he's always been my smartest kid!
Gorgeous!
beautiful, munner, and they look soooo happy!
a gorgeous couple Munner - i was wondering who they were
there! one I had all along and never entered. done!!!
They are a wonderful match and have given me two cutie patootie grandsons.
did your llama get married, Une?
Yay! Ornith
her name is "June Bride" . . . :-)
Yay, Ornith! $%&$%&$%&$%& From me to you! Glad I could help! Yay!
and now for some lunch! :)
see you all later/tomorrow!
*POOF*
really Une??
found her in a google search! LOL!!!
oh Une, I thought she was YOUR llama! :P
di 7/36 anyone?
Atalante - who's in your icon?
nope, just have 2 dogs . . .
di7/36 Anais Nin
isnt that the 7/32?
no! here I was thinking you were a llama herder :)
oops, sorry!!!!!
and that's me and my clutch of bridesmaids and husband and random others :)
there's a ba7?!
Hah! Afraid not!
Ata - i just see you and your hubby - very lovely! great dress too
ba7 is plural of ba6
oh yeah, I had that up earlier. if you refresh you might get to see the whole mob!
di 7/36? please
hmm, i refreshed, but still just the two of you Atalante....
me too, atalante
I can't find these ba word at all...wired.
oh well :) you still see the dress - which is the best part!
forbid and boys name ba6
thank you dodge - that worked for me
di7/36 to look down on, to treat with contempt
ty
sorry for being dense, I am not getting that BA 6 -- trying to get a few more words before the boys get home for the summer...
items that are contra****, minus the last letter, plus guys name like McKellan or Ziering
then plural for the 7
ba6 - if you forbid someone from doing something, you *** them + boy's name - like *** fleming, james bond ceator
thanks firefly and Atalante! I was trying to keep the last letter of the first word in... got it now
ba 6 almost soudns like someone from a country on the adriatic sea
man... I have none of the ce words!
yay stidmama!
i just monkeyed a ce4/5 Grace, but that's all i have too
the ce 5/12 is ce +spanish for "river" in female form
ce 5/12 and its plural sound like a middle eastern country
then plural for a 6
I've managed to monkey all but the ce8
I could use the first ce 6 and assume the ce 8 is its plural?
ce + ra4 = ca6
ce6!!
thanks dodge! that worked!
the ce 8 ends like the human-robot hybrid words...
pluraling the ce6 doesn't work for the 8...
ah, thx stid.
on to the d words!
yw Grace.
ar 5/12 anyone?
I am, you *** + first two letters of adult kittens
thanks atalante.
now I am going to lie down again for a bit. see you all later. :-)
byee!
Of the icons today I have to say my 2 favourite ones are Atalante and Fire - Ata for the stunning alternative approach to a wedding dress and for Fire, her boquet which is so beautiful.
*looks at Fire's bouquet* oh wow yes! how beautiful!
on to the Es!
this is Vicki's wedding dress site - she makes the most *stunning* things (some totally over the top, but still stunning lol) http://www.vsb-bridaldesign.com/
on to the Gs!
go6/27 anyone?
Oh Ata - such wonderous Princess dresses!!!!
plural of ge 5/16
go 6/27 at a party you could come home with go**** bag
sorry, wrong clue, grace
ah, thx!
aren't they just fabulous! Its funny, I never wanted a traditional wedding dress. When I was about 14 or something, I drew what I wanted as a dress if I ever got married, and my dress was almost exactly that - except with dark green instead of dark red - I was just so lucky that Vicki had set up her business and was doing just perfect designs. (had to be green instead of red as husband is far too much of a redhead for red to do anything but clash horribly)
on to the Ns!
please tell me you're using the list, Grace, or I shall feel horribly inadequate!
oh no... I resorted to the list fter 185 words...
Mine wasn't trad either but was ivory. I have to go now so nigth night to all and Happy Babbling and thanks for todays chat!!!
night FM!
night!
phew!!!
Atalante, you rock! I don't want a traditional dress either...
yay for non-traditional dresses! what I *love* about mine is that Vicki made me a dark green skirt to go with the bodice, so I can wear it again and again over the years to posh occasions. It's so beautiful, I'd hate to just put it away and never wear it again!
exactly! I want a knockout gown that I can wear again on our fifth anniversary, tenth, etc...
yours is breathtaking...
you can tell it's your style, and that's what makes it work!
thank you! *grins* it's just very *me*, patterns and colours and still simple at the same time
lol exactly!
how big was your wedding?
if you want something really perfect, I'd suggest finding someone to make it cos then you can customise things exactly - and I don't know about France, but doing it that way was about the same price as getting dresses ready made! and there were *thinks* about 150 people there
can anyone please give me a clue for the 2nd pa 5/12
I'm actually in Boston at present, but we're not sure if the wedding will be here or in France or in Siberia for that matter... it's still a ways off!
it all comes down to $$$ :)
is that pa5/12 the glue one?
well you've got a good amount ofchoices then ;)
pa5/12 - slangish word for father
also latin word for father
urf, tell me about it! I was really lucky in that all my friends are arty so we did all the flowers and the invitations and table things ourselves, and all my husband's friends are musical, so they provided all that!
that's so great... I know I want to have my dress custom made, and can maybe save a little there as my mother and sister are excellent seamstresses
did you have a buffet or anything?
ty uneaixoise
rope in everyone you can! it made such a difference to us - we could spend money when we needed to, but save so much using everyone around us, and that was lovely knowing how everyone contributed to the day
that's such a smart thing to do, boston--one of my daughter's friends got married several years ago and her grandmother made all the bridesmaids' dresses--saved lotsa $$$ and they were all beautiful and a perfect fit!
thats me finished bye everyone
we had a pretty simple buffet, and spent lots of money instead on the most fantastic cake in the entire world. everyone remembers that and everyone was drooling over it so much we could ahve served dog food and no-one would have cared!
congrats ruthy!
do you have a pic of the cake??
congrats, ruthy!
ooooooh! somewhere! *finds* you'll drool!
I'm missing a pa5/12 and pa6/24...
lol... Uneaixoise is your llama a bride?
yes, I want to spend a lot on the cake
i found her by googling--her real name is "June Bride"! :-)
grace m. do you have french city and church?
that's one hot llama...
pa 5/12 - synonyms for glue and father
I've got those...thx Dogluver
ah...missed the French city!
pa5/12.... a wrap you wear over your swimsuit
pa 6/24 - glue pa 5/12 + r
boston, what city in france are you from? I got married in St. Cloud a million years ago--was teaching English at Berlitz in Paris
got all the pa words now...thx!
it was all different little cakes that my best friend and I had spent an entire evening choosing - http://www.atalante.f2s.com/w7.jpg - and it was made by the most *gorgeous* Frenchman. we were both utterly besotted LOL
great cake!
I'm American but was raised in France by French-speaking parents... in Rennes and Paris
atalante, OH . . . MY . . . God!!!
I'm learning french in school, next year I'll be in French 4
and worth EVERY penny!!!
oooh, how cool! Were they in diplomatic service? military?
that is GORGEOUS
good for you, dogluver!
parlez-vous francais, anyone? lol
Atalante, that cake is SPECTACULAR
lordy those r words are daunting!
une - does your screen name have to do with aix en provence
Une: no, educators... my mother teaches ESL/French/Spanish, my father teaches mathematics
yes--i studied there and also married a native aixois
isn't it? and omg it was gorgeous! we really decided to spend our $$$ in 2 or 3 things we'd really remember. the day goes past in such a blur, I can't for the life of me remember what else we ate or anything, but I remmber those 2 or 3 things - and so do all the people there - I still get letters talking about it 4 years later!
i'm visiting my sis in paris this fall and really want to go down there
how wonderful, boston! so you speak at least 3 languages, eh?
oh, Paris is so delightful in the fall!
I'm a language addict... French, Italian, German, Turkish, Chinese, Cambara (African), Swahili so far.
Paris is delightful most of the time!
oh and English.
wow thats impressive
so, all you language experts - what's the best quick way to learn/brush up on french?
Une did you ever hear of Digne quite a beautyful place in the south of France spend many sommers there.
good lord, boston, that's incredible!!!
find a French person and talk to them
exactly . . . or a French boyfriend!
Yvo, what is Digne near?
that would be my sis, but she's there
you could read a french phrasebook
there's nothing like actually talking the language - do you have night classes in French conversation anywhere?
that would be great une, but my husband might not like that (but i'm sure i would!)
there is a class at the local high school - but the guy teaches canadian french!
tell your husband he's for educational purposes ;)
i thingk it was alpes it was about 70 kilometers west of Cannes
that's how I learned to speak the language!
i like the way you think ata!
need two sets of ra 6 and 7...
holy moly i just realized how many ras there are
there's always someone around who's willing to give language lessons, either privately or through colleges - you just have to find them, that's the hard part. a few hours actual conversation would do you more good than lots more hours reading / listening to tapes etc
as a teenager I felt like I was losing my French completely, living in the States... I highly, HIGHLY recommend a French boyfriend (or two)!!!
that's how I learnt Italian LOL
if you're in a university town, I'm sure there are folks who could spend some time conversing with you--is there an Alliance Francaise where you live?
enough procrastination - i'm going to google right now (looking up hot french single men in my area)
it's a time-honored method, learning "on the pillow"
just escapes me Une but it was a SPA also for its Lavender fields
go ls1, go to it! we're all behind you
34 more words to go... this is exhausting!
phrasebooks teach you standard phrases, convo classes teach you the actual language
yes une, there's one in chicago
there are many ways babble is really bad for my marriage!
just looked it up, Yvo, and it's apparently right in the center of lavender country--wow, I can imagine how wonderful the area must smell! I've told people that driving thru the countryside of Provence is a feast for the nose--thyme, oregano, rosemary--mmmmmm . . .
LOL ls1

ready, set, GO!
I have exactly 100 left to find, but am crawling along. Am going out this evening, so probably won't finish
the pressure! :)
StephieC, you're looking to teach?
oh Eva, i have 102 left, but also crawling
lol saph
I'm an English teacher :)
No, I already teach. It was for another position on my team.
ah, I see
I teach 6th grade math.
there's something that really tickles me about a nollusk being an English teacher. Conjures up images of a giant clam sitting behind a wooden desk in front of the classroom
10th/12th grade English
yep, public speaking makes me clam up </pun>
I loved teaching middle school math and social studies. Language arts was also okay, but I avoided science.
wonder what a nollusk is? A nihilistic mollusk?
okay..major issues...32 left and that seems about right but my word list only includes 114 words (though it says I have 32 left make sense). I've restarted, refreshed, the works! HALYP!
i'm missing a pa 5/12. i have first one, city, glue, father
if pa___, france is accepted, why is sandiego not?!
and when I enter in a word that is not on my list but I know has been counted, it say's I've already entered it..argh!
there are only 4 Abe

kris - it sounds ilke your computer failed math!
Yes Eva
pa5/12: A garment consisting of a rectangular piece of printed cloth worn especially in Polynesia by men and women as a wraparound skirt. hi everyone!
pa5/12 - father????
Like pa5,12 only change first vowel to 1st vowel
hi to!
kristin-that was happening to me for a while and I found that I wasn't getting the entire dowload of words when i reloaded....do you get that message about continuing, etc?
72!!!!!
hi nutty buddy!
was that clue for me rumple?
thanks temple!
any1 got n e hints 4 me
Yes StephieC, I meant the last pa5,12
yes I've refreshed eva...it says everything is done downloading on the bottom but what you're saying makes sense. I'll email drG but won't get to finish since this was my only time left today
72 - it's storming like a female dog here!
kristin-I meant the "unresponsive script" message that pops up while the list is printing and offer the options to continue or to stop loading script. If I push stop loading script, then it says everything is done, but doesn't load the entire list. if I let it continue, which sometimes takes a long time, then everything appears.
Did you get it Steph?
sunn & humid here - my flowers need a shower...
no!
Okay, like Saint Pe*** at the gate
I've got that one. I'm looking for the pa5/12 that means father??
stephie: that's latin for father
I just spotted Charlie Brown's favorite expression.
eva...oh I see no, no message like that. argh! all I had left were s's and t's but now I don't know what I already had (done throwing my temper tantrum)
Just like that - change second letter to 1st vowel

hail too 72, tried to take pictures, but they didn't turn out too well.
kristin you deserve a good snit!

my hearty congratulatons to the Austrialian babblers, whose soccer team won over Croatia'

How did USA do in soccer today?
American English prefers smelled

ata - i believe that depends on what century you live in, lol
i wish i'd never started this one...
they did poopy, stephie c
I would use have/has smelled (but remember, I teach math, not English!)
Steph, just like that one but starts with pa

lickety...wow!!...im impressed.. we really are a sports mad nation lol
ugly game though. The italy one - mmm, I don't expect much.
yeah...not on the comfy couch anymore but who cares...I can feed my babble addiction after all! :)
hi gang. Atalante, before I became a babble-maniac, I was an Engish teacher. Although, either is technically correct, the most current form would be 'smelt'.... plus you avoid the 'smelting iron' connotations.
well i reckon if w can win that game against croatia...we have a chance against italy...ive spoken to some far more knowledgeable than i...and they say italy are vulnerable..
interesting rolin. Anyways - I gotta get up now. bye!
goob...goob...quick..tell me how yo got to STOP being an english teacher...
I am insane, Atalante... I meant, the most current form is 'SMELLED'... my fingers got ahead of my brain! Again!

hey folks...
i'll bbl folks

ty inge - I think smelled is the way to go!
I usually prefer smelled over smelt... like dreamed over dreamt
any clues on the ar9?
smelt is a noun, smelled is a verb in the past tense
Hi, everyone. I just did a "rough" count, and over *70* words end with "S"-, meaning, when all else fails, PLURAL IT!!! Also, a good number end with the Latin plural "ae"- so if it ends with an "A", try, adding an "E" for the plural.
I normally like the t endings, but smelt looks weird
ar 9 is part of a "family" of words- they are ar7,8,9,and 8. They all have the same root-here is the clue: pitch-penny ar**** + the end of our friends, the Cana*****> Hope this helps!
i think smelt is a type of grain. no i don't mean spelt!
I've just looked up the dictionary and both smelled and smelt are acceptable past tense forms of smell. But I agree with Atalante, smelled looks better to me.
To smelt something is to melt it like an ore, like iron....i think....
it is a fish also
Atalante, you are right... in the oxford dictionary [British / Canadian spellings] do allow for either 'smelled' or 'smelt'.... but i still like 'smelled.'
thx - jai, 200 pts just like that :)
hi helen!
now I"m feeling slwo
slow*
i'm working now, cause i have a friend coming over later tonight
TY< helen, for listening!

Hi Helen

asid
st6/30 please
feather, who do you live with that's blind?
I love it when there are words prevalent to Scripture in these puzzles
var. of 6/24 in spelling- smelly old cigar
my mom's partner is blind. she got in a car accident in 1990, when i was in high school, so she wasn't all her life. i learned to sight read braille though!
haha, I got that one... there were tons of them at the graduation ceremony last night!
don't live with her anymore
st6/30 is variant spelling of the st5/18 and st6/24. smelly cigar.
hey, helen, lol! how did hk burn her ear?

To repeat:Hi, everyone. I just did a "rough" count, and over *70* words end with "S"-, meaning, when all else fails, PLURAL IT!!! Also, a good number end with the Latin plural "ae"- so if it ends with an "A", try, adding an "E" for the plural.

I missed the first season, so have no opinion on them.
Diane Henry?
yea that's her; she's evil good..
I didn't mind her, I'd like to see her and Janie team up, they would tear that house apart.
i love janie cause she's the total package - beauty & brains! & a genuine good person!
How about James, anyone want to see him come back?
Exactly helen, Janie is awesome.

BB nut , chic, that's me!
What is BB?
Big Brother
Anyone need any clues before I take off?
You mean like the tv show.
hahahaha cat - from the way you were talking about bb i thought maybe you were a kid - but i checked your profile & we are only a couple of years apart , LOL - i guess it's ok for us to get kiddy about something like this, i just love all the behavioral stuff
nice chatting cat!! vote often!
Kid at heart!!! :) I know, seems odd huh, an old lady like me watching BB. Don't know why, but I am hooked on that show! Thats the only reality show I like.
where's the site to vote at,Helen?
cbs.com
As do I Helen, it's an education on human behavior, maybe that's why I love it so much.
thanx!

I hate that show!!!! ( no offense to you guys)
Plus to see what people will do, how far they go for MONEY!
It's great entertainment too!

Evening folks! Jai's right about the cough mixture. There used to be one called 'Famel' that I remember being given as a child. It tasted like it smelled.
hi jacula!
Hi, Jac!
hiya jacula!
All is not well here... I go on holiday in a week's time and my washing machine has just decided it doesn't want to drain.:/ It has no visible filter to clean.
jacula - sometimes that can happen when the load is unbalanced
Oh, man, Jac, that's awful!
Helen - I did cram rather a lot of towels into the last load. Oh dear!
just move the clothes around, or take some out - i hope that's it! :)
The pump may be clogged...
open the top and distribute the load more evenly, that might do it
yes
or take out soem
hi, jacula; probably helen is right:
that used to happen with my old (& i mean OLD - 38 year old maytag!!!) top-loader, now have new maytag, of course, front loader- never happens, never will!
I thought they were a bit too wet when I got them out. Getting at the pump will be fun. It's an automatic and is plumbed into a small space with a tumble dryer on top. I'll try running it empty and see what happens.
happens every time I wash bathroom rug...
Libarabel - That's just what's in there now - the loo and bath rugs.
right jac, try the easy things first, lol
hope that's it!
Will do, Helen. BRB.
keeping fingers crossed for you :)
Babble:where we solve more than puzzles....
lol, jaia!
:o)
LOL, Jai. I've slopped the mats out into a bowl and now I've programmed the machine to drain. All I have to do now is wait...
the suspense...
sending good drain vibes across the pond to jac's house ~~~~~~~~~~~

awwwww, thats really nice saph, I have lots of keepsakes of hers already....... this dress will be one of them.......
no- consult Lickety's List for answers to these and other questions.....
I have 3 daughters , it was always so much fun buying dresses for them
I have lots of little frilly dresses for her
I am one of four dauughters, and my Mom used to dress us up in matching dresses...how she did it I'll never know, especially since I was a tomboy!
lol jai - my mom tried that with my sister and me, it didn't work well because she was chubby and i was skinny
I am one of four girls too..... we used to be dressed in the same outfits too !! Then my baby brother came along !!
I always looked awful cuz I am fair, and my Mom liked colors like maroon and navy......
BBL boys and girls......

ty jai:) got it!

Attention all Babble Shoppers:Hi, everyone. I just did a "rough" count, and over *70* words end with "S"-, meaning, when all else fails, PLURAL IT!!! Also, a good number end with the Latin plural "ae"- so if it ends with an "A", try, adding an "E" for the plural. Thank you for your indulgence....LOL
in 8/45 please?
in+ what God did- he Cr*****d the world
I've said it before and I'll say it again, GEEP is a word!!! It's a cross between a goat and a sheep that are raised in Crete.
Evening all, BTW! :)
another word ends in ee- it's an "O"- the other is a "G"
Jen reminded me <hnt, hint>
O-gosh, (or another way to say it), Jai, did I really? :)
gee whiz!
Jen - For a photo of a geep and the explanation of what exactly it is, go to: http://arbl.cvmbs.colostate.edu/hbooks /genetics/medgen/chromo/mosaics.html
It would be a "geepee"
It would be a "geepee"
can i just ask... when someone types a number then a slash, with another number - what does that refer to?
how's the washer, jacula?
Libarebel - it drained when empty, if you get what I mean. I'm now trying to spin the bath mats again.
the first number is the no. of letters in the word. The second number is the point value of the word. Try looking at the Beginner;s links for info.
oh, good!
oh thanks!
yipee" Babble-solved!
hi all, I am here for a few... jaianniah -- did you just finish?
hello, stid
Sounds like a jet engine's going off in the utility room! It seems to be spinning.

hi all im new at this not sure if i even know what i am doing lol
Betcha you're not Bored anymore!
it's short for Bored Of Ed- my screenie on an ed forum
KRabbit, join the club...Read the info on the lower left of this page- go to the links...
just started college and it feels like eternity!
thankjs
Hi krazedrabbit. If you click on Angelsong's link at the bottom l/h side of this page it will tell you all you need to know.
thanks again lol
ALL school feels like an etenity...'til you get out....
hi Stid...you feeling any better at all?
yeah, i was told the same thing krazed- but i was too lazy to follow. just bungled along and slowly but surely i'm getting it
let's just say I am progressing -- no longer have a sore throat, but my ears ache and I am shaky... blah. at least the boys are old enough to take care of themselves now!
i'm back. got a nice glass of wine now!
Jac, it wasn't pulling anything up for me, but I've seen 'em. Hubby was stationed on Crete.
oh, poor stid!
well maybe by tomorrow it'll all be gone
When I was sick when the kids were small, we'd have "picnics" on the livingroom floor- I'd cut up chunks of food, and spread a blanket and let them go at it....I hope you feel better, Stid! (((((Stiddy)))))
Sorry that took so long to reply, on the phone with vet. In addition to my d*mn dog (bless his heart) having IBD and on steroids for the rest of his life, he also has a fungus... he's going to a kennel in a week and I am worried they won't take him with the fungus! :(
Jen - That's where I'm off to in a week's time.
Jen - I meant I'm going to Crete, not into kennels! Unfortunate timing there.
Thanks all. I am hoping it's gone by tomorrow. My great aunt will be here this weekend and I really want the yard (and house) to be a little bit put together! Meantime, I am sleeping a lot and drinking as much as I can.
180 proof, Stid? <chuckle>
Sorry you're ill, Stid. Get well soon.
ac 7/32? i think i know how it should start...
hi everyone - sorry you're not feeling well stid - drink alot of liquids!
Jen, sorry about your poor pup. jai -- for shame! (though I did put a bit of rum in my tea earlier when my throat was hurting)... mostly fruit juice and tea.
AC* of Spades+ ****of the Price of Gold....
Thanks stid! I never thought I'd worry about a pet this much! And I hope you feel better real soon!
okay, I need help with the do 5/20....
sorry, being dense on the gold thing, i have no idea what you mean
Sorry, Stid. My sense of humor is often a bit off....Forgive me.
**** times time= distance
the price of gold? i got lost on that one
better clue below
aah thanks jai!
33 C's?!?!!? And the evening just keeps getting better and better. :(
TV RA******
jai -- I am not upset, just amused. Though not a complete teetotaler, I am too much of a control freak to actually "drink" :-)
I don't drink at all, K. So I am doubly sorry.
pour me up a double for the both of you then. :)
Do you want a list of "C" clues?
sure jai!
any clues will do...
O M G well, okay......hmmmm......
i sure do jai - i LOVE LOVE LOVE Your lists
cmon i have 194 words left!
Thanks jai, for the offer... I'll try 'em on my own before I panic. I'll have "all night" after my munchkin goes to bed (well, right after his Power Rangers)
got the ac finally, have company now, and she's the one who figured it out!
and i KNOW i used to be literate... but this game uses so many obsolete and obscure terms that it's mostly guesswork for me
any clue for hi 7/ ?
please
Am back to report the washing machine now seems to be cured. Was someone offering drinks? A chilled dry white wine for me, please!
I would love to go to Crete! I don't even peek at clues until I am desperate...and I am desperate for clues for the e words near the bottom. I have one of them.
I'll pour you up one Jac! And Crete is pretty cool. Where are you staying? Chania (Hania... or however one spells it these days)?
yeah every time i think i got that bottom e it takes it off the side tally. how do they decide?
I regretted starting this grid hours ago, I knew I wouldn't get far. I have managed 153, but I think I have lost the urge tonight.
Krista, I believe the bottom e is the ei5
Krista - er4 - periods of time, et5 - a public storehouse or a Russian stockade for prisoners in transit,et4 - anagram of sa4 (to satisfy)
I knew I wasn't well enough to finish, so have been using Lickety's new features. If I get all of them I will enter them into the word list. Otherwise, I have all the fun and none of the pressure.
Question (from a beginner): How do you know (for example) that there is a hi... word? I only see that they tell us there are 14 H words.
hi 7: hi 4/5 plus fibr*** tumor
(Those are the ones after the 'eo'.
the EI is the one E I am still missing...
Hi Wren! I have 13 to go but I've been wrestling with the washing m/c in between.
i heard there are two cr 8's
ty inge
whoops
Stid - ei5/12 - the distinctive expression of the cognitive or intellectual character of a culture or a social group
my last three words are driving me crazy. Can someone help me please? i need pa 5/12 and pa 6/21, as well as st 5/10 ( the middle one, just before the beer mug)
thanks Jacula!
hey i got the ei! totally random guess, i don't know that word
Bored - You know it now!;)
not really
which pa 5/12, inge?
one cr 8 is that stuff to preserve wood
second pa in the list
i do not have a fireplace and i have been going crazy over the wood thing pppl have been talking abt all day!
you dont use it on fireplace wood, but on wood for building decks, etc.
inge add a vowel to the prev pa 4
oh earlier someone said something about fireplace wood
does the wood preserver begin with creo?
anyway they don't build decks where i live either
then plural for a 6/
the only wood preservative i know is polyurethane varnish
it's the name of a character in Monty Python's the meaning of life, a grossly fat customer in a restaurant, Mr Cr8
thanks, Jen and Jacula. It's that ei that's got me hung up...i really hate fishing around for the words I am not familiar with. I try to look at it as a learning experience, but I keep forgetting which words were "real" and which ones weren't! I keep remembering the wrong ones. Lol!
sarahbellum? zat u?
the EI is ei + spanish for "two"
thansk Jeffer, down to my last word st 5/10
sarah? u also a first semester graduate?
hi, Bored! I'm only here because I'm waiting for the noise pollution offcier to arrive. My neighbours have some generator thing in their shed that's going nuts. As am I.
ok, got it Stidmama. Hard to miss with that clue. ;)
this cr stuff smells a ittle like tar,
sarabellum00?
woo finally found it
err... no.
ok, wrong one then
i have a sarabellum friend somewhere else
INGE How do you know the last word is st5? Other people told you? Or is the info provided? (I'm new here)
ah
didn't think there could possibly be another... ;)
so I'm not a unique and beautiful snowflake, then? :(
oh no, of course u r unique... just like everyone else
inge - did you finish?
ge 5/16 please, and assume the 6/27 will build off it.
yep, the 6/27 is a plural

any help out there for st 5/10? the one beween *taking the place of another* and German beer mug. Please
inge, there is an st5/10 before *taking...* which is to look long and hard...
i think there is a goof in my list- forgive me!
jen, according to Licketys list this 5/10 comes afgter the plural of *taking ...*
zmy error, the beer mug goes into that slot. Now I have to find my missing st word.
the one after *taking...* is the beer mug
dada
oops, sorry... probably not even there
wouldn't hurt to try it in the correct box though Jen! LOL
yes it is
yeah, I tried it and lo! Something is going right for me! :)
Hi all! Jai, you ROCK! These clues are not only helpful but very fun indeed.
Fireworks for me!
I need a da4/6, I have the one (obviously the one I typed!), the one that's a fish, and more than one father...
YAY Jacula! (woot)
Woo hoo Jac!!!!!
do you have the thing the king sits on at dinner Jen?
sorry, that's a 4/5. you want the one like the artist/father only with a different vowel at the end... it's a woodworking babbler
Fireworks for me. The missing culpirit was a sh word. Thanks for all the help especially Jeffer and Jen
YAY inge!
Thanks stid! Thought I'd tried that one.
Woo hoo inge!!!!! :)
I am not getting the third na 5/12 or the 6 (another plural perhaps?) after it...
Jen , how about d plus top card in a suite
Well done, Inge.
second na 5/12 please?
scratch that
the second na 5/12 is plural the first na 4/5 jeffer...
2nd na5/12 is pl of the 4/5 before, meaning "nothing" in Spanish
Stid - 3rd na5 & pl. 6 is a water nymph (Greek) or a satellite of Neptune.
thanks Jacula! :-)
I must say my goodnights now. See you all tomorrow.x
realised i need the third when i saw your request. stid
ty Jen

the 9 is plural of the first ar 8...

now begging for ar 8!!!
I'm quitting with 142 left... hopefully I'll do better tomorrow!
I believe the 8 is the origin of the word "Cajun"
in8/45 = in + to make from scratch (god ******d the world in 7 days)
aknitter, people from nova scotia????
aknitter, where cajuns came from?
good job Mollusk, this is a tough grid today. see you tomorrow.
