I thought it would be up and running by now. I have time constraints today and was hoping to use it this time. Too bad, so sad.
there are quite a few clues already in the chat log . . .
at7- a person who participates in sports gr7- 4 is gr***** than 2 gr7- a person who makes pig-like noises gr7- root word of disgr***** to be upset about something he7- as in Locklear he7- he+ cross letter + first vowel, second vowel, little hook letter, first vowel he7- same as above but third vowel instead of second vowel le7- cowhide
OK, now i'm hacked - rehair IS a word - twice a year i have my bow rehaired.
pa7 black cat
gt7 person who welcomes
*gr

pa7- big kitty re7- to say hello again re7- a person who stops working after many many years of working re7- re+ trick or ***** tr7- the person who pays for your tab tu7- add that hook letter to the reptile with a hard shell house And that should do it!

and unravel
hizbollah - though *conveniently* they deny. so there are 2 fronts - gaza & lebanon.
At least one Katyusha rocket hit the northern city of Haifa on Thursday, but no one was injured, Israeli authorities said. Hezbollah denied it had fired any rockets at the port city.
that's from Forbes.com
ur6/21-the long narrow tube the pee comes out of?
they landed - no casualties in Haifa - but in other towns, yes, including an Arab town in Israel.
aha! thanks, Knutmeg!

G'night all!!
Hi Deb -- not paying so much attention to babble today -- the news is not good here.
night knut
YAY champion knut!! Amazing!
Been thinking about you ARB, since hearing the news.
i know arb - so terrible - i pray you're safe and sound
I'm OK -- we live in Tel Aviv -- but one son-in-law is an officer in the intelligence corps and a daughter is a retired officer who has been called back. Neither will be in fighting units, but there are 3 kids looking for their parents.
so sorry to hear that, ARB
it breaks my heart.
I had hoped we were seeing the end of the violence and the beginning of a glimmer of peace -- still got to hope.
Morning all - how's the grid?

Good morning, UK & Europe!
past midnight - turning into a pumpkin - gnight all - see you tomorrow - and arb - you're in my thoughts
And such a pretty pumpkin too! Sleep well, debbinla.
Actually, so long as you don't have connection problems (i.e. AOL) though Babble is slow to initially load on dial up, it plays ok.
so sweet - gnight sprite
Debb, your pumpkin must be orange....
oh ok thanks Matty x oh i think they have AOL too !!!! isnt it AOHell
(mets colors - blue and orange!! - i'll find a better logo tomorrow
Just reading up the log... ((((((ARB)))))))

really going to sleep - gnight and goodluck !
hi everybody!!
how are we going today?
steady on :)
today's theme is Orange, and I urge you to check my icon and the url connected for some surprises
That is a Dutch connection if I ever saw one, jilli :)
Ah, but it's Scottish!
Guess it is both :)
And American
Very babblishious, therefore. Well done jilli!
wordy, too!
Very wordy of babble indeed :D
UGH. Very punny
I was brought up three miles away from Carrickfergus where William of Orange landed in the 17th century. Some wag has preserved the horses footprint in the cement.
Back shortly.
Let's all be grateful it was the footprint and not the dung...
I think I should go to bed now :)
Sweet dreams then, jilli :)
ty, sprite, and good babbling
night jilli! hello all!
Oooh - my icon is orange by coincidence. Cool!
I got an 8 without help! I'm always dead chuffed when that happens ;)
Oh, it's nice matty? Do you have a big one as well? I'd love to use it for my screensaver :)
another great dragon matty!
I looked up Dragon Song on Google and found it in the image search...
wtg matty, for the 8 :)
hi all! am very disgruntled as I've run out of milk and can't have any cereal for breakfast :(
hi atalante!
Awwww Ata :( *sends some milk by ether*
Hi Atalante, Fran and all
do you think I could mix some yoghurt and some water together as pseudo-milk?
am replying to your email finally, sprite!!
Yuck!
ata, just dump some cereal onto the yogurt -- tasty!
Just yoghurt would work, probably. No hurry on the email, Ata ;)
morning all :)how many today?
166
ty :0
sorry :)
Sorry for what? And morning.
i had some real bad news yest so forgive me if i dont spk !!!!!
((((marso)))) Hope all will work out for you then.
if u have a magic wand it might lol,,,,
((marso))
Wish I had. I'd wave it for you right away.
Morning. What do the 8's start with pse?
I wonder if the first N6 is the offspring of the second N6.
sorry to hear that marso :(
ty :)
they are related Sprite
figured out breakfast - happier now :)
Good job, Ata, nice to have a good start of the day. Kateq: so if they call me a N6 (2nd), my son would be a N6 (1st).
CA: I have L8.
and already my kitten is trying to eat it for me
ty, sprite
I have re8/45
I love that kitten.
CA, i only have r8
Oh, found Th8 as well.
yes Sprite--is in pig/piglet--comparison used for word form only LOL
Lol Kateq :)
thanks.
just got the th8 also!
Elvis is singing for me in the grid!
All I have is the re8...
today's phantom word for me: health
mine is ur**nt
Small consolation, they both are close to valid words.
Oooh - got the th8...
wtg!
I keep seeing Utrecht for some reason!
i'm sure urgh is a word! i've seen many use it in the log!
I have the th8 and the re8 - what's left?
Very Dutch, and very unvalid, lol.
Le8, matty
the le 8
very very unvalid but still staring at me even though its there lol
100 done, 66 to go, back tomorrow - g'night all!
think cow hidish sort of stuff
le8=adjectival form of le7 (which rhymes with he 7)
Hahaha, jilli, you went to bed an hour ago! Night again.
No -- I said I should! LOL
LOL!
Either that, or you are talking in your sleep.
Fireworkss!
done! any clues before I go?
sprite said a woord!! Morning all
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
hi everyone.
Congrats to Sprite !
I have an le7 - what my belt might be made of, but can't work out what to do with it - I don't have the he7
congrats sprite
Owwwww I did! I am SO sorry!
matty--the le 8 is an old-style adjective form of your cow skin word
matty add a coNsonant to the end
matty: add a consonant to the end.
the he 7 grows on the hills in Scotland (and elsewhere)
Got it - thanks! All three eights accomplished - onto the nine!
he7 is a marshland flower, also used as a woman's name. Mrs MillsMcCartney being a famous example
LOL sprite
lol FMitch, in unison :) Good morning to you.
The 9 makes a combo with one of the 8s.
Good morning FMitch, by the way.
bye all--happy Bastille Day!
morning FM and Haz :)
Hello Atalante - breakfast crisis averted?
Good morning Haz and Hi Ata matty the 9 is the person that does the t8
yes thank goodness! I hate not being able to have a decent breakfast!
I'm the only one in our family who eats breakfast. I can't uderstand how they function without it!
Of course it is. Stupid me!
I should say again for ppl that weren't here yeaterday evening - Hurshy and I had a lovely lovely time yesterday - we went for tea at the Ritz - being very English with a capital E - then wandered around bookshops and other nice places for a good few hours :)
Did you race each other at any point?
I never used to eat breakfast, but I feel so much better now I'm making an effort to eat it!
only for who could eat the most cakes and sandwiches the quickest! :P
I'm always amused when you overhear ladies trying to get their purses out fastest. 'It's my turn'. 'No, this is my treat.' 'Put your purse away.' etc.
Glad to see the volcano is back
oooh - I'm jealous - how come you didn't invite the rest of us folks in London LOL!
there's a good lot of babblets today!
well how could we discuss the rest of you if you were all there LOL
which we did, utterly, but only to say how lovely everyone was :P
Speaking of lovely babblers, have we noticed the return of peace and harmony to the chat log? I assume Dr God did something, but has anyone heard officially?
Ah the mysterious dissapearance of the player with many names. Don't know what happened but here's to harmony.
hurrah!
amen to that
evening everyone
hi andree!
Hello Andree.
player with many names? what have I missed?
If you can be bothered, lynxxx, look up the chat archives for last weekend.
a great deal of bad language Lynxxx
Bad language and a worse attitude from a 'player'.
I was going to say OK - but after Andree note I don't think I shall bother.
not really worth it, lynx. it was just annoying and dumb
Anyway!!!!! it is all in the past (fingers crossed) so let's not go back there. Stuck at 112 but it is a good grid today.
Anyone got the gh6/27?
You're obviously feeling brighter today than yesterday, FMItch. I'm the one feeling slow today.
yes fmitch, i do
Yah - I've noticed the lack of twilight lupines as well. Nice one!
can I have a clue please Fran
I have 112 left...
fmitch, it's a poor area of a city
agree matty
oh thats a good word
So that's what sprite meant when she talked about Elivs singing to her.....
I was looking for hound dogs, teddy bears and blue suede shoes.
Bambam is coming to Sydney next week, will get him to org. an icon and flag for me as i have not worked out how to do it myself
haz, i looked for hound dogs also! already had the gh, forgot about that word!
Thanks Fran, Yes I was wondering that one earlier too Haz.

There are a few animals the in the grid today though Haz
Good morning all
hi kallia!
I think golf is top of his agenda
Woo Hoo - a grid with my surname in it
probably right andree, but he did mention getting you a pro account as well! lol
Good morning Kallia - and hello Candy! Nice to see the sunshine again, isn't it?
hi candy!
yes it is...quite windy though here
for me heaven to have all of my grandchildren in town together
I've had a pro account for ages Franmaq
Morning Haz and everyone else - the sun is great I am just about to start my second day of outdoor painting. Holidays are fantastic!
that will be nice andree! of course if he doesn't get your icon and flag up he will not hear the end of it from all the babblers!
Outdoor painting as in painting the house, or painting the scenery?
My phantom - Earth
Unfortunately the house and the windows and doors ......and the fence
mine is zorro
No chance to be creative, then! Unless you fancy a mural on the gable end......
Ah but very satisfying once done.
I don't think my art skills would stretch to that
How long do you reckon it will take you to get the whole job done? (weather permitting, of course)
hello all, long time no see :)
I got a lot done yeaterday. Hoping to finish most of whats left today. The fence takes longer because it goes on for ever. But while the sun shines I'll be out
thanks for the chat - off to the movies and I'll finish this 'nice' grid tomorrow - bye
Hi mica, long time indeed!!
But you're getting your fix of babble first!

Found it Fran, thanks...any clue on the last one?
i only have 2, the other is spanish cheer + past tense of eat
or4/4 - relates to heraldry
thanks haz!
I'm supposed to be away.....
but you're still here.... lol
buttonman - either o* + first 2 letters of allow.
81 words... argh! half more to go
I'm now missing one O - I hae the animal - I have the one that ALMOST sounds like margerine, and the one that sounds like a French town or a girls' name
Dianne, I guess I am not totally awake yet...I don't get the clue for the or 4/4!
i have 47 to go but i should go to bed now. see you all later!
bye fran
or + first 2 letters of 3 letter word that means to allow.
matty - you are missing ol6 - Spanish cheer + 3 letter word for consumed.
Thanks Dianne!
Dianne, thanks, I got it...
N in the lower left hand corner...I have the nu 6/21. Any clue on the other one?
93.... argh this is slow
Button, if you were to make schnitzel from pecans -or instead of a veeal cu____ you'd have a pecan nu____
buttonman - there are 2 nu6/21 words.
Dianne, I have the one that sounds like food!
the other one is a real whacky person.
Dianne, what country do you live in, I don't recognize the flag?
Hong Kong
sorry, I should know that! Hope to visit there someday
My phantom word for today - urgent.
I am in the USA...Texas
Which part of Texas?
College Station, home of A & M University, the fighting Aggies.
One of our graduates is on the shuttle right now.
Wow - that's great.
You're not the only one, Sue...but part of that word is there...
Bye, all, I am going back to bed...it is 5 in the morning here...
Sure is better than bonfire press, Button...
morning, all
I got that pam. It was tragic but it made the school stronger.
morning Babblers! Buttonman, I am a Texan also.
Dianne, I have met several students including in the Grad program who are from Hong Kong!
I am glad good came out of it!
I'm confused. It
Bye
Okay-my state of confusion is obvious, but what I meant to say was how can in be 5ish inTexas if it's 6ish in Vermont? I'm missing something
must get ready to get ready for work..
also-this is the second utterly frustrating grid in 2 days!
see you all tonight! Hoe the news is better around the globe today...peace
Eva, our country is so big that the sun literally comes up an hour latyer in Texas from the East Coast- thus the time difference- it is only 3 am in L,A. right now....
sorry about all the typos....
Eva?
Eva, as to the it, there used to be an annual bonfire on campus before the Texas University/A&M University football game. The bonfire was made with huge logs and they were stacked extremely high..one year while the students were preparing it, the structure fell, killing a number of students, 12 I think. And, I really am going, Bye
Has there been a clue recently on the th 8 abd 9 plez?
Jaianniah, I lived in San Diego for 25 years!
The thing on the car that makes it go faster is the nine- one of the 8's is the root word of the nine....
sorry-still half asleep and getting east and west mixed up, duh! I kept thinking-"But Vermont is as far East as it gets...: I do normally know that it is earlier in the west than here. And thanks for the explanation Button. I do now remember the tragedy.
It is also a slang term meaning "to strangle" jokingly
Thanks as always, Jaianniah. You give great clues.
Buttonman, sorry, but I live near you.....
yes, thanks jaianniah!
YW< Merk! and TY!
JJaianniah, what area of Texas!
no, I live on the Gulf Coast in Mississippi- near being relative in this case......
My daddy was from Bogue Chitto.
my sister lives in the middle of the state of Mississippi.
Never heard of it....where is it?
Lincoln County near Brookhaven!
Bogue Chitto. What a wonderful name! How do you pronounce it?
OH!
Bobba chitta, it is an Native American name
We have a lot of French names in Mississippi....But they get Cajunized and otherwise twisted around- a town near me named Gautier is pronounced "Go-shay"
Correction, Bogue Chitto is pronounced like
Bogga Chitta
Also Native American, ty Buttonman!
Vermont is very funny that way. The larger town my village is part of is Calais. Which anywhere else in the world would be pronounced Calay. But here it is Calass.
That's exactly what happens here!
REALLY NOW, GOODNIGHT!
LOL Goodnight, Buttonman!
even odder because we are only 2 hours froom MOntreal and there are plenty of French-canadiens here, so one would think we would use the French pronounciation.
night button!
Somehere- half our town is French, but they mutilate the French words beyond recognition....a personal remark not meant to disparage anyone!
That's Same here
The first time I drove to Vermont and was trying to get to Barre I, of course, pronounced it "bar" and gave all the locals their fill of "flatlander" humor for the day. Flatlanders being those from Massachusetts or, I suppose, anywhere else but Vermont.
They laughed at me when I came down here and said Gautier "GO- tee- ay"
But the truth is that there is Cajun and Indian influence on the names.....
Have to decide whether to go swimming this morning or not. It is very hot out, but the water is still chily from all the rain we've had. I can remember, but barely, when I was a kid and never minded the cold water. Now I've become chicken!
OMG, swim! Swim when you can! There are so many months when you cannot!
*jumping in to pronunciation conversation* even the natives of my area can't pronounce their own town's names correctly. there is a town called 'gilmanton' but many say gil-ming-ton. it is also common to add an 'r' where there isn't one. morning!
That's a handsome Airman? you have there, Cliffopa!
that is newly minted 2nd lieutenant Clifford. thank you, jaianniah.
Good morning Cliff. That''s a very handsome young man you have there!
Simulaneous admiration cliff! lol
and have I mentioned how much I hate deerflies?
it was a surprise to see him in person for the first time with the uniform on. his whole demeanor was different. more confident.
deerflies = evil
Merp ate one the other day and I wanted to give him a medal
It must be so odd to see the person you diapered in a uniform.
my chow chow eats any/all kinds of insects. even bees.
Cliffopa, Clifford is gorgeous! I also have a newly-minted Airman 1st class nephew- graduated from Lackland a week ago....
i'm still having difficulty seeing my son as a 26 year old. how could that be when i still see myself as a 30 yr old. denial? yep.
doesn't s/he get stung? Merp gives bees wawide berth and also, much to my dismay, will not eat spiders. yes, I know, I know that spiders are benevolent, but I'm phobic.
Me, too- I am hitting the big one this fall, but feel 18.....
tuckerman (chow chow) often gets sick after eating bees - and ants. but he keeps doing it. the vet said as long as he does'nt ingest too many at the same time he shouldn't have a reaction.
It still feels strange tome when I visit my "little" brother when he is at work in the hospital, and see this 6'3" doctor striding around . How did that happen? And I feel much older when I realize that he is 51, than when I realize that I am 56.
jaia....which one is the big one? (-:
5-0-!!!!!
eva, my son hates spiders and was told yesterday to watch out if it ever rains at his base (edwards, california desert) because the big ones congregate on porches and walkways.
Oh-that one-no longer seems that big to me. Funny how one's definition of "old" keeps getting pushed further over the line as one advances.
YUCK!
That;s very true- and Cliffopa, remind me NEVER to go to EAFB!!!!
i don't especially like insects, but since my husband is allergic to bees, etc i end up removing them from the home.
jaianniah, the good thing at EAFB is that it almost never rains.
I would miss the rain....As long as it wasn't from a hurricane, that is.....
when I volunteered at the zoo some years ago one of my jobs was misting the tarantula tank. Myboss reassured me that the spiders didn't like getting wet so would move to the back of the tank, but I was so nervous that I accidentally sprayed in back of the spiders who, of course, charged forwards. Next thing I knew I was in the other room and the water bottle was on the floor. Never made that mistake again. Also had to pick up rocks and branches to count the African hissing cockroachs every morning. I mean really, as if the non=hissing ones weren't bad enough!
OMG, Eva!
what an interesting assignment.
i've never seen a real live cockroach - nevermind a hissing one!
And I am NOT finishing this puzzle.....this conversation is TOO interesting!
Don't mind reptiles at all, like snakes a lot, and rodents are fine. But spiders? I grew up in New York City which is cockroach central. You haven't missed anything.
People keep the hissing ones as pets. I kid you not.
Yuk!
my older brother used to put (harmless) snakes down the back of my clothing when we were kids. frogs and toads too. i don't mind them - didn't have much of a choice about it tho!
jaian-you have some pretty big bugs down there, don't you-palmettos,etc.?
That's what brothers are for isn't it?
I hope I never SEE the big bugs- they hide pretty well.....
Okay-getting ready for swimming. See you later.
Bye- bye, don't get bit by a deerfly!
watch out for evil deerflies eva. have fun.
Don't miss the word that goes right down column five....
does your nephew know where he will be stationed jaianniah?
And I have F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S*!!!!
congrats on the fireworks!!!
Somewhere near Washington State at first, but he has to make it thru "indocrination" - a pretty rough time, physically.....
Does your son?
i hope he makes it thru okay. i really admire anyone entering any branch of the military.
I do too!
my son received an officers commission. he has a masters degree in mechanical engineering and will be working as a developmental engineer at the air force research laboratory.
K- OOL! Where? At Edward's?
yep.
Doubly kool!
since he will be working on space propulsion projects, we are now referring to him as the 'rocket scientist.' they will never believe this at my next high school reunion...i wasn't the best student in high school.
LOL! Genes are funny- I was supposed to be the most likely to succeed, but ended up a housewife with four kids and an A.S. degree!
anyone who raised/raises 4 children is a 'rocket scientist' to me.
jai, *I* think that's tremendously successful!!!
Ty- They all turned out pretty okay! All are in retail one one sort or another- my thrid oldest is a MLT, tho, but makes too much money at Cracker Barrel to quit....
LOL!
and hey, none in prison, which is more than many can say
well, i guess i had better get ready for work. have a great day everyone!
TY< JDP! That means a lot to me!
you too
there are way too many people doing a bad job out there
i think you should be proud of yours
that's just my $
$.02
I am! I am!
is what that was supposed to say
Believe it or not, I got it the first time! LOL
;-)
well, i should head to work... the Man waits for no one...

Hey Everyone! Hope you all have a Great day - and a good Babble!
Hey, Lickety!
Hey lickety, what brings you to babble at this time of day?
Passing by - and just wanted to say Hi!
Well, HI!
LOL same here as it's lunch time I am heading out to run some errands
It's bizarre to think we are all talking from all over the world...
yes, Katrina, that
s what keeps me fascinated. Sorry about the break
That's one of the many aspects of babble I really enjoy.
Same here- and also fascinates me about English- it may not be the world's most common language, but it's the world's most common SECOND language!
I have to take a break for laundry and water excercise. Shall re**** for the last 47
I worked for American companies for almost 25 years so am used to time sone shifts. Worlds most common language is Chinese isn't it?
Yes! By a long shot!
Errands are calling so must be off Happy Babbling.
I am off, too! HB!

Hi tiny. Very nice icon today!
Hello everyone!
wow, yeah tiny that
beautiful
hello
thanks all
i was around, but not much...did have much time, so i avoided the log for most of the day... not gonna have much time today either! *ugh*
hello all who have just arrived
my phantom owrd of the day is "HE4/5N"
Me either evanadine. I'm ready for winter again. NO time to play in the summer:-))
And I agree, Tiny's avvie is lovely
That seems like an oxy-moron doesn't it?
hi Kitty mine is orphan
my boss--rather UNEXPECTEDLY--dragged me into this huge, long, boring meeting yesterday that just so happens to be highly important... usually we get at least a days notice so we are dressed appropriately! i wouldve liked to have alooked more buiness-y, but at least i was wearing a dress!
are you able to play at work, evanadine?
That is not fun evanadine! I'm trying to grow my business for fall which means lots more time on the phone and meeting with people for marketing purposes.
Well I hope you were eva you would have looked funny standing there in your undies
LOL LOL
Hahah!
area
Actually come to think of it, if all this marketing works I won't have much time in the winter either:-)
Did I doo That UMMMM
is that good or bad musicmom
Don't worry Tiny, I'm sure most of us already have that one, and those of us who don't sure need it! :D
LOL
As much as I miss babbling everyday that would be a good thing. We are not reaching the majority of our target consumers here. I really want to be doing that. I'm only working about 15 hours a week right now. Would like to double it by next year at this time.
actually tiny I had that one but it pointed me to a U word I didn't have.
Good for you GO MUSICMOM GO can you share
they are doing a 70s retro fashion show on the Today Show. Why would anyone want to bring back 70 s fashion?
because it is usually still in our cupboards LOL
brb phone call
Hey everyone, just popped back quickly - My advice is this : Take everything as it comes, don't make it personal unless it is, and Try Everything Twice!
I'm wondering why people felt it neccessary to rbing back 80's fashion, it was horrid the first time round and it sure doesn't look good now
bring, even...
are you talking about the grid Lickety and Hi
Kitty - I agree 80's was embarressing! and not like any other decade!
I hear you, Kitty. I hate those stretchy pants with the lace on the bottom. good morning all
Hi Abe
Tony - no about musicmom and all dilemas

Hi Aloyisius
Hello Aloyisius!

Terry Pratchett's favourite reptile is here today!
Good Morning! :)
Housewife pet?
is the grid auddently going slow for anyone else??
Housewife pet?
yes, matty, and I am moving just about its speed.
Housewife pet?
Lickety, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Thank you Angelsong! It's such a relief, and I'm very proud!
Yup, lots of triple posts and no words being accepted : s
*ANJ!!*
Oh yeah - congrats Lickety - well done on the degree
...excpet if I type them in the log of course...! Hi everyone : )
Wow. Seemed like it froze up for a second there.
my phantom word: nurture
It's being slow for me too
hi Eva : ) Happy Friday ; )
Hey - if you are having troubles - please email DrGod - he really want's to know!
you have every right to be proud, lickety! I know what it takes to get a degree. it's very hard work.
*pounces on anj for a Friday Frolic*
all seems back to normal now...i think the server just had a quick catnap!
It's working fine for me now. Just seemed to have a little hiccup.
Yep, same happened to me.
mmmph mmph mph!
Well Congrats to you Angelsong!
hiiii all
Hey Atalante.
Hey Atalante! Welcome to the world of words!
hii all!!
Hi Ata!
Hi Atlante!
I so want Zorro to be there
and Aleksia too
Does anyone know - DID Doc take care of the twilight lupine?
I've been willing Zorro to be in the grid all day
one of the happiest days of my life was the day I received my Masters in Social Work.
yesterday i really wanted it to accept "rasta" anyone know why it doesnt? it that a proper noun?
Do any words contain the z?
Angel - Masters! Wow - Well Done! That's hard work!
I did get some good news last week....I'm going to be a grandmother again.
I thinks it's proper Eva, from Rastafarian?
matty, I don't think the z is ued at all.
thats what i figured...always gets me when i cant put that one in...
whereas getting a PhD is such an anticlimax cos you just sit down and discuss your thesis and then they just tell you you've passed adn you go off down the pub for the rest of the day to celebrate lol
Grandmother? Sorry - outta my league!
Congratulations, Angelsong. When ?
but congrats!
March or April. My grandson will be three by then, so it's good timing.
Three years is good spacing. My first two grandsons are 3 years 1 month apart.
i return to find everything back to normal! hi joiners!
another phantom word: theater/theatre
and retain
I'm over the moon! I couldn't be more pleased.
Good Morning from PA. Hope this grid is a little less troublesome for my brain than yesterday's.
And each one just multiplies that joy. I have eight grandchildren now--ages 5 months to 9 years.
So far, not a friendly grid, at least not to me!
The grid hasn't been very friendly to me either, yet.
Oh, no! My brain is still exhausted from yesterday.
Is my icon still a kone kettle?? : s
The grid isn't all that nice today... I got off to a gr5/14 start, but then got bogged down real fast
taking a break with only 89 found...tough one!
see you later TO
I've found 72 - and I'm really struggling.
I see a nice fractal pattern Anj
no ang. upi
can't type now. lol you're a lovely orange
no anj - looks like a tie-dye
68 here in half an hour
it's great to look at the chat and see everyone in orange :)
Cheers Kitty - i'm still seeing a kettle., lol. I don'r dare refresh or the log will stop and I will get 3 or 4 'unresponsive script' warnings... : s
anj, do you use firefox?
any pt words?
Faether, yes. Latest version as far as I know...
Anj, I use Firefox at home and get those script warnings. What's up wth that?
No PT-words Owl
you need to do a twiddle to stop getting the script warnings
hang on, copying and pasting from angelsong's page for you
k - bye noe!
Sorry for dropping out of the conversation everyone! I'm going to have to go to work for a while. Be back later to finish.
lol Feather...sorry. Ciocia, I've changed my time out to 60 secs as well...
Ah, just found my daughter-in-law
Apparently in Firefox 1.5, the time that a script can run before it is considered to be "unresponsive" is only 5 seconds. Babble relies heavily on a lot of scripts and 5 seconds isn't a whole lotta time. So if the chat log or a long word list takes long than 5 seconds to load for you, Firefox will throw up that annoying "unresponsive script" error dialog.
s name in the grid.
To tell Firefox not to bother you anymore if a script takes longer than 5 seconds, type "about:config" (without quotes) into your address field in Firefox (i.e. where you would normally type "www.playbabble.com"), and then in the "filter" field type “dom.max†(without the quotes).
Then double-click on the "dom.max_script_run_time" record that comes up, and change the the value from 5 to 60. 60 seconds should be more than enough time for Babble (and other sites) to load without Firefox complaining with the error message anymore.
oh dear, was the twilight lupine at it again? Hi all, btw - got to 55 and now I'm going to the list 'cause I'm in a hurry - wedding reception this evening!
oh shoot, didn't see you say that! sorry
or just type dom.max_script_run_time in the filter box so you don't have to scroll through
making notes on all of this. Will try it this evening. thx much.
hi, feather!
LOL...still get them, but I reckon it could be something to do with running iTunes in the background on an old muther hubbard board with only 512mb of Ram : )
welcome judy. lol anj!
errrr possibly Anj!
make sure you restart firefox every now and then. that might help
i have Itunes runnging and only 512 im ok .....waits for crash now lol x
thx atalante
Ata, I need to get a dell with something like 1.5gb ddram or above, but I also need to know that I can transfer my 2nd hard drive with all my music and files on it from my old pc too : /
Hi guys! Think I got lost in the tech-talk. Were we having troll problems again?
hey, anj...have you heard of Nelly McKay ?
hi amanda!
hi amanda
M3, i've actiually got 640mb installed but the mother board has capped it at 512 : s
Eva, no...but i'm listening to Tina Dico just now : )
don't see why you shouldn't be able to!!
heh, Nelly McKay has one of the songs im planning on asking you to hunt down for me ;)
OHHH, i listen to podcasts !!!
24 words left to find, and it's time for me to go sweat in the work room with the steam iron... Later everyone!
http://www.pandora.com/?cmd=tuner check this site out you can create your own radio station xx
doesn't sound like fun Kitty. cu later
free music no download either cool huh
Ata, i'm worried that a new pc/chipset might insist on reformatting/repartioning any additional hard drives. I don't know enough about computers to be certain either way. I know I had to format, primary partition and name my new 80gb drive before my current set up would recognise it.
[feverishly making notes about all this computer stuff]
How many words today, guys?
Our work room is like a hot house in this weather, there's no way I can go there before the evening. And I also recommend Pandora, it's much better than LastFM :)
M3, I use LastFM. It's more flexible than Pandora i've found...
anj you could do it the long way put your mp3's on a flash drive or copy to dvd !!!
166
heater
geat
(i hate RE words)
Morning all, missed yesterday. Had MRI on lower back, may have some herniated discs. lots of pain, injections considered.
M3, 9326 songs and counting... that's about 450 cds minimum, lol
good morning
Feather, I'm hating ALL the words today. good morning rumple.
hi harp and rumple
Hi Harpjane, just getting started.
hmmm...do they do Flash drives capable of holding 45gb ??
Hi featherbee
bummer rumple. those herniated discs are very painful. Hope you can get relief.
you should be ok ... though what you'd probably want to do is find a local computer guy and tell him the situation before getting a new pc and get him to install the second hard drive for you. would cost a few £ but worth it
LOL, backing up is always a good idea. have fun,. its easy to backup. if you have more than one puta it would be easy!! hey good luck with that lol x
Eva, e-mail me with a list : )
good morning harpjane. nice incorporation of two icon themes!
yeah atlante i was thinking you were on a laptop if yo have a tower pc you can put many HD in, in theory
Hello everyone!
good afternoon everybody:) and hello mrp
hi mrp
and hi jean
greetings mrp and jean
in theory, I think you could just switch the drive allocations, Anj, so that the two partitions stay on the then secondary hard drive. you'd end up with drive d and e or whatever
Ata, I have a friend who builds pcs for a living so it would just cost the oprice of a few points and a pie : ) I've got space for one more additional hard drive, but the mother board and chipset are archaic : s Not worth doing that now...
good idea atlante, if you get really stuck just post a Q at http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-7600_7-55 65360-1.html?tag=dir.forum
Fireworks! And just in time for bed!
congrats merk
congrats merk and hi to all
good job merk
that's easy then, Anj :)
ggod grief this is not a fun grid today. congrats, merk
points? pints! lol.. The existing 80gb is a 2nd hard drive anyway so it's already set up to be slaved to the main system drive : )
The grid was challenging.
Thanks all. G'night.
lol I totally read pints not points anyway!
good night merk
hi everyone who has come on since i have had my head down working
lol, feel sorry for me this system only has 40gb
Hopefully we'll see you tomorrow.

MrP that would work if you could do it.
i'd be willing to pay you mr.p!
ditto
mrp -- glad to hear its just a "busy" issue and not health or something otherwise as serious. you do what you need to do...
and the list just got tweaked so nicely, with all the extra features
Please do mrpresident!
if its just running a solver and uploading to the page, I could certainly help if you'd like
is anyone using the icon calendar on the resource pages?

very unique icon euterpe. What exactly is it a pic of?
Hello, Babblers. How many words today?
It's the inside the trail of of thousands of torii gates at the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto, Japan.
There are 166 words, liz.
good morning
wow!
gm mamawa
hi liz
oh no! I keep hoping for less than 100...I only have enough brain cells left for a small amount..LOL
ty Euterpe
could I get some N clues and some i clues? any and all?
nu 6/21 is all I have...it might describe a squirrel
My phantom word today is "north."
na5/10 - add an Irish terrorist organisation to get a unit of currency in Nigeria
nu6/21 - the first nu6/21 combines a food with the word meaning to allow.
goodmorning....my phantom is anteater
hi dorens
ty haz
got all the n's thanks.
You're welcome.
gm Dorens
hi judy, how's it going?
gtg later all.......
bye
bye liz, see you later I hope!
hi all!
hi stid...that's nice and cheery
thanks Dorens, figured it would suit!
It's not an easy grid for me Dorens. But it's Friday. [doing the happy dance] How about you?
oooh -- I just saw Anj's icon! very lovely!
thx haz didn't have those N words
not at all easy....and why can't i use helter (as in helter-skelter)?
hello stid
That's okay, Judy.
how's it going today Judy?
not too bad. Sun's out which is a good thing. Some of the areas around me had quite a bit of flooding. How's it going today for you stid?
going to grab a list, brb
yay orange stid flowers!
flooding? still? or again? or just the left-overs from the other week?
thought you'd like them, Atalante!
ei6?
*tiptoes in* Morning all - shhh - i'm at work...
one or the other, harp
not still. some again and lots of left overs from the other week. People are still trying to get back to normal. FEMA finally declared our county a disaster area.
It's a word used when giving alternatives, harpjane.
(hi fiz) *shhh*
ei****/or
thanks, haz
[whispers] hi Fiz
nd drop the first letter for an I word, harp
well -- *FEMA* -- sounds like a bad word. They just don't seem to get it, do they?
thanks Haz and Dorens, those clues helped me, too!
Judy - do you get to have some fabulous souvenier blue tarps, at least?
You're welcome - glad to help.
yw, stid
thx dorens
yw
[quietly] fix, I was one of the lucky ones. No flooding. lol
yeah, we're dealing with the same stuff judy. i'm near binghamton, ny
stid, my county was not on the original FEMA list. The legislators had to call them in to look around. Some of our towns were completely hit. grrrrr
good morning feather.
hi stid, dorens, fiz, et al
hey, nice orangy feather there
feather, I have relatives in Hancock, NY. They shop in Binghamton all the time.
oh, hancock was hit very badly. my husband was there a lot the past few weeks for national guard
OMG! We didn't hear anything from my aunt and uncle. They are "up" a little so maybe they were spared.
I am so sorry for all the people who have been hit by disaster this year. Seems it's been everyone's "turn" recently.
oh Judy -- maybe you should call them?
i'd say give them a call judy
Yes. must check in.
We've gotten off easy in RI - some sewer floods and beach closings, but no major damage. My heart goes out to you all.
doug (hubby) was doing what the guys called "water buffalo" duty...delivering water tanks to sites out there so people had water for their livestock and themsleves
the problem with RI though is it's so small if something happens, it really does happen to everyone...
my aunt and uncle are right over the PA border. Your cross the bridge and go up a small hill and that's their street.
feather -- glad you mentioned him. I know he's been home recently -- is he able to come home every night now?
personally i'm ok, live on a hill away from any creeks or rivers, but many people i know have been affected
True - I learned the hard way that everyone is truly related by blowing off steam about someone in a restaurant - the server was their cousin....
yep! they asked the guys who needed to be released from duty, and since doug's job is transferring to state this coming week, he needed to be there
glad to hear you're okay feather. But I know it's sad to see what other people have been through.
well good -- I am glad he's home. I bet Daniel thinks it's wonderful!
if anyone's interested, go to www.pressconnects.com to see pics.
My parents are in Western PA - they are looking forward to beachfront property when the ice caps finally melt. You can all go stay with them - they've got a big house and are generous with it.
Judy -- go call *your* Ciocia! (then let us know what you learn)
yep, he does!
LOL Fiz! we are on the opposite side of the street from the "waterfront" properties... figure when their banks slide we'll have the "high rent" place!
i can't go read the articles anymore, i want to cry everytime i see how much people have lost, and how insurance is NOT helping at all
yes -- which reminds me, our insurance company canceled earthquake coverage... need to see if Tom found someone else to do it!
brb need to do laundry now that everyone's awake.
ok, back to wrestling with the grid
OMG, feather - just looked at some of the photos and things - my heart aches. Can we make donations somewhere to help?
not sure....i think there's a link of how to help somewhere in there...let me see if i can find it. what i did the other day was went shopping to donate to CHOW. hang on...
Good morning, babblers! Just checking to see how many words today.
Hi Ping - 166
http://www.pressconnects.com/apps/pbcs .dll/article?AID=/20060712/NEWS01/6062 90373/-1/flood
good morning everybody
fiz, that's a link on how to donate to red cross and make it for this area
Thanks, fiz
It's Friday!!!!!!
earlier, there were requests for food and cleaning donations, i guess they don't need that as much anymore
yippee
Just found it feather - thanks. And if you hear that people need things, email me - thefiz@gmail.com. I love to rustle up in-kind donations.
thanks fiz! it's very much appreciated. i know, i have several bags of clothes that i weeded out from my closets, just trying to figure out where to take them. i think i'm going to drop them off at a clothing center at a local church. even if they don't need them for flood victims, they'll go to good use.
those photos are so sad, featherbee
nite everyone!! sleepy time! see you later!
the very first photo in the earliest gallery is actually of my road, it got washed out in the beginning stages. i took those pics and sent them in early tuesday morning, wednesday is when all the waters started to rise in the rivers
I give all my old stuff to the local womens shelters - people who leave with the clothes on their backs and have to start over. But I'd be happy to send some stuff your way if it's needed.
MrP night - BTW you got mail!!!
fiz, just keep an eye on that how to help page is the best i can tell you. thanks!
night mrp
I used to live in Binghamton for 6 years, and many of my old neighborhoods are messed up
Night mr P - good sleeps!
i can't find my pics anymore, there are so many new ones in there.
FMitch!!! I lurve you!! thanks for that... will get onto that tomorrow!!
thanks guys! see you tomorrow!!
Byeeee
ok, i'm going to take daniel outside for a while before lunch, bbl
bye Mr. P! mother nature is certainly angry this year. the town next to my job got hit by a tornado two days ago
bye featherbee
Bye Feather - good vibes your way....
Could somebody please explain to me in an easy fashion how to use Enable, please??
flask, are you trying to use the clues?
good night mrp, see you later!
enable is the dictionary used in this game but i don't think you actually can use it
I just want to know how to find words for the grid....by using first 2 or 3 letters....
later feather --
flask, scroll to the bottom of this page and click on lickety's babble clues - that will help you finish the grid
like I do with another dictionary!
Firworks!
flask -- go to Angelsong's Resource page. She has TONS of helpful places that can help. (including Lickety's and BJ's lists)
yay angel!!!
YAY Angelsong!
it's easiest to open lickety's page in a new window so you can easily flip between babble and lickey
hooray for angelsong!!!!
I keep thinking about you and the house you're trying to buy -- any progress Angelsong?
Congrats Angel!
ok thankyou to you all.....and well done Angel
Flast - You could try using a2z - Have a look at Angelsongs pages under Friends of Babble that has a bit all about alternate sites that I think you are talking abouttoo.
I could use some help on the AE 6 please... I have the British for what we breathe.
stid, drop last vowel and add consumed
i'm just starting, stid, only have 7 words so far - sorry
to infuse with air, Stid
aera
doh
=o
thanks Krista! glad to see you again!
thanks also muse.
just doing some clean up on credit right now, stidmama...a slow process. but it will happen.
okay, well, I'll keep you in my thoughts (and keep asking occasionally)until your dream becomes reality.
Thanks, stid. I shouldn't be here, given my to-do list, though (as usual). ;)
hi angel!
that's okay Ping! thanks!
hi, Ping!
oh well, Krista, what are to-do lists for, if not to ignore? LOL I also have so many things on my plate, but need to take it fairly easy today, so will babble as much as I can.
Hubby's 40th bday party tomorrow, so I can't ignore it too much. Are you ok, if I may ask?
mazel tov, krista!
I am better than last night, that's for sure! a good night's sleep helped a lot. {and definitely do something nice for your husband -- mine spouse didn't even get me a card for my 40th last month!}
Oh, stid - Happy 40th Birthday!! Want me to sing again?
(High notes are my particular specialty - Happy Birthday and the Star Spangled Banner are the best to showcase my skills)
umm. no thanks fiz, not while you're at work! LOL maybe later
{{{{{Stid}}}}}
are you doing okay Krista? you popped in and out again so fast last night we didn't have a chance to visit!
Ok - let me know. I think I might have dinner plans tonight but...
hi daisy!
For you, I'll make time.
IM is up
ah. the leader just came in at the tour de france. nice to see someone do well.
my IM is not working yet, but the phone lines are intact today... LOL
well, Fiz, if we expand it to some of the others who just turned 40... (or are about to), sure!
ok - back to the grind, y'all (conference calls are great to babble but not to chat) See you at lunch!
lol ok he's still here right now but when he leaves I'll do that
later Fiz! :-)
okay daisy, I'll be here.
phew! Just got off the phone with my ciocia Stid. They are okay.
stidmama, I'm about too become a grandmother again in March or April.
*sends thanks heavenward* good to hear it, Judy!
*hums off stage right* ...rocKETS REd glare...
*crystal in kitchen shatters*
ooh Angelsong! that is wonderful news indeed! :-)
need to do some work at the office. bbl
later Judy!
I am back for my final 35. Hubby found 12 while I was gone. I'll work quietly in my corner
I am going to get to 70 and then start working on a project... realized I hadn't painted anything for nearly a month! (too long without art)
hi inge!
sorry for the delay; was changing my icon (sort of)..glad today is better for you, Stid. I've been there with the ""no card"" occasions, believe me! It doesn't happen anymore, though..I must have scared the poor man. Yes, I was being Miss Overly Sensitive last night. I came on two different times and no one would talk to me (sniff sniff, throwing pity party confetti). I was sunburnt and tired; I"m not usually such a baby.
sorry that was so long
oh -- I meant to convey greetings from Mikey in Berlin -- had a nice email from him the other day and he said to say hello to everyone!
Today's phantom word is: Gerund
that's okay Krista -- I'll refresh in a minute to see your icon. Are you feeling better today? sunburns always make me grumpy... sleep usually helps, though.
hi Samantha!
Good morning
LOL -- Krista, I see what you mean! I take it this is the famous Chesapeake Bay orange crab?
yes, thanks, sleep did help, but I'm still crispy..i can't use cheap sunscreen! Tee hee - crabby is sunburned, too.
stid, my 40th was a drag - mom in chemo, bald, distraught - but she recovered and we had a big blowout for #41
oh -- poor Krabby Krista! do you have aloe? that will help the skin feel less crispy...
oh Ping -- so glad your mother recovered. What a difficult year that must have been. Assume she is still in remission?
sorry to read about your mom too ping and glad to hear she's doing better
I have it on my list to buy today! I wasn't going to get anymore sunburns, you see, so I ran out. Sorry to hear that, Ping. Still no Munner the past few days?
haven't seen Munner -- starting to get a little worried.
Krista Solarcaine makes aloe extra gel that will help your skin feel smoother and cooler
Krista, a friend who is an expert on burns also suggests "aquaphor" for rehydrating... my experience is that either that or aloe works pretty well.
okay, my monkeys are on strike. AR 5 please?
add a vowel to the space word
morning all. I'm here and babbling but also babysitting one of my 20 month old KM students while her mom goes to the doc. Munner was on earlier this morning.
she is still in remission, stid, but it was her third time so we try to appreciate each day - in the meantime, though, she's obstinate as ever!
I probably won't be very consistent about chat since I'm chasing Emily around - there she goes.
thanks muse! again... hi musicmom. thanks. Is she feeling any better?
Aquaphor was my bestest friend this one time when I fell asleep on a float in the pool.
Yes, I am worried, too. Is there anyone here who is in contact with her? I didn't know they still made Solarcaine! I've heard of aquaphor..thanks for the suggestions. I'm trying to figure out a way to go braless today - my back is the worst!
We still have an on-again, off-again relationship.
oh parsec, how painful that must have been! I am a total wimp when it comes to burns. Fortunately, I haven't had a bad sunburn in more than 20 years... but I still remember how it felt.
i went snorkeling once and forgot to put sunscreen on my back - I can't express the pain...a "real" burn must be pure agony
Yeah, I don't take books out on the pool anymore. =)
Krista -- for me, a soft T-shirt and a loose-fitting jacket conceals well enough when I can't wear a bra... I am pretty large in that region, but as long as I don't "bounce" no one seems to notice...
I read somewhere that you should keep the aloe gel in the refrigerator - helps it work better
oh, just saw your post about Munner, musicmom. I don't know her well, but am concerned nonetheless.
anything with aloe vera - alor vera gloop straight from the plant works wonders
okay, moving down the line... LOL. AT 7?
People who do the tour de france are this, stid.
mad?
bicyclists? LOL thanks parsec! guess what I don't identify with?
Or, well, anyone with a passing acquaintance with gym equiptment might qualify, I suppose. =)
Good one, Atalante! Gave me my morning chuckle!
I didn't know she was ill.
it's so STINKING hot today, not sure what will work..may just have to wear layers regardless...thanks, Atalante.
I "pass" gym equipment every chance I get! ROFL and reaching for another cookie...
I just saw her posting a while ago while I was on a business call.
Munner's going through chemo or radiation therapy... I can't remember which. I know she feels really awful a lot of the time these days.
Stid, here's an IM client specific to Linux....it lets you IM Yahoo users also. It's kinda like Trillian, I think. Just something for you to look at, if nothing else.
http://gaim.sourceforge.net/
Oh my. I really am out of the loop. That is terrible. I'm adding her to my prayer list.
Yes, that is what I use -- called "Kopete" -- just Tom installed updates and so many of the old programs need to be reinstalled and updated now...
Todays second phantom word is: Realtor
It was chemo.
i need one more p...4/6, please?
I have the "walkway" that meanders through a garden, and an anagram that are p 4/6 Krista...
pa4/6 or ph4/6?
another word for road krista
it is probably the slang that sounds like overweight
Follow the pa**, Krista.
ph4 is slang sounds like chunky person
sorry, it was pa 4/6...FISH ME (ty!)
A brand of clothes...Baby Ph....
Hello Chris P!
Hello yourself!
was surprised to see the ph 4/6
I was too the first time I saw it in the grid
yes -- "slang" like that makes it in, but "internet" doesn't . oh well...
i'll have to keep my eyes peeled for that one...internet? really?!
yesterday? or the day before -- it was in the grid but didn't count!
oh well, desperate dogs need attention. back later all...
that's whack
later stid
LAUGH Krista!
I was afraid no one would get that. ;)
God bless my ADD some days - I got distracted with something and ended up moving my refrigerator and cleaning all around it. Wheee!! Oh well, I feel like I've accomplished something at least. :)
and we're not going to talk about what it looked like underneath :P
not to inspire riot again or anything, but -- Atalante, did you and MrP work something out on the clue issue?
I was just reading your profile..I was diagnosed with ADHD when my daughter was, and she has PDD NOS (closely related to Asperger's).
Must sign off..hope you all have a terrific day.
you too Krista
you too Krista!
Thanks!
it will get sorted ... with maybe a bit of confusion in the short term!
thanks for the update and for helping out. Those clues are the only reason hubby will work on these things with me! :)
in the meanwhile, there's always BJ's list remember!
where do I find that? still pretty newish
http://p105.ezboard.com/fbabblersanony mousfrm2.showMessage?topicID=6.topic
take out the spaces I'm sure babble will put in
ty!
or through Babblers Anonymous in the bottom panel, then go into the General Forum. he posts them everyday
ahh, thanks!
they don't look as pretty as lickety's but they work just as well!
ph4 means 'pretty hot and tempting'--at least that's what my daughter told me when she was in high school
finished....anyone need any clues
woohoo mmim
coz unfortunately my laundry is calling
ty judy
does your laundry sing or just talk mmim? lol
no it's quite cranky and lets me know it needs to be washed lol
muse...I saw an article yesterday where your washing machine actually DOES talk to you!
lol, well that beats all....but I'm sure the building I live in won't spring for that
I'd be afraid to know what my washing machine is saying!
I'm still waiting for the day fabrics don't need to be cleaned
http://www.networkworld.com/community/ ?q=node/6348
ty daisy
ty daisy

hi charm!
hey, Lucy.
Mymuse! Is it easy or is it just an illusion?
there are a few tricky words, but I found it to be relatively easy
Charm, what is your icon today?
lots of repeat words from recent grids
I've always been Opus from Berkeley Breathed's "Bloom County."
Any clues for those 8s or 9?
sorry mymuse, I mujst be thick tonight, that doesnt help at all 8-)
ahhh!! me too. I just couldn't grasp the hat, heh :)
le+ you get sick from ***ms,
I think that hat expresses Opus (and me) very well.
;)
the country ***many is also known as Allemagne.
le7,8 = tanned hide made into pocketbooks, shoes, etc. then add hump consonant
misu...where in aus are you?

he7 = is flower or girl's name and rhymes with the tanned hide
also rhymes with f******bee's name
i'm in the grid!!!!!!! lol, i hadn't gotten that far down yet to notice!
he7, x 2 = ancient Greek courtesan or concubine, with different spellings
thx to all whose clues I've hijacked. I'm in and out of the chat; actually doing some work at the office today. lol
hey une, all! i wanted to use an orange cat but i cried for my departed one each time i picked one...

Hi stid how are you?
welcome back Stid
I saw Jakey being run over too - but not when I was so young! We were lucky to keep Holly - she was hurt in the accident too - some idiot driver came up onto the kerb going at about 50mph ...
I am well caitlyn, you?
how was the walk feather?
stid, stid, guess what!!! i'm in the grid! *beams*
oh Atalante, how sad.
yes, I actually saw that last night, but was too tired to mention it! *it's about time, too*
i had a cocker spaniel that leaked--we called her golden rivers...
he swam in his wading pool, played in sand, and we walked all around the property...in short had a great time! he's finishing up his lunch right now
Its sunny !! So im gr5/14 thanks
I cannot see the EL word -- I have all the other Es...
brb, gotta clean him up and put him down for a nap
cockers tend to do that ... especially when they get hyper!
I am so glad it's sunny for you caitlyn! it's going to be a lovely day here as well.
fun stuff feather... see you
I bet ciocia will never make the grid!!!
bye feather
I also knew a male cocker--his owners called him Golden Showers, as he was very submissive :)

the 9 is the person who does the 8
tr9/60
actually, I put the teen down for a nap this morning two hours after he woke up! He was sitting in his "comfy" chair in his room... drifting off... LOL
and a consonant
do you have the 8/45?
the 9 is th 9/6 builds off the 8
Wel, stid, hetty to the rescue. The e word is like th instruyment--take away the "f' and bob's your uncle

What site are you discussing, please? I'm always looking to feed my word addiction!

Anyone have the final U - for me it's the UR6/21...
brb phone
nope, sorry matty
(what's brb)
matty a urine duct!!
3 more U's Matty, ur 4 to encourage, ur 5 person doing the enouraging, and ut 5 To speak carefully

ur6/21 personal plumbing
LOL leslie
I have the ur4 which relates...it's just the extention
Never mind - got it!
an6/21?
*tumbleweed*
that's not a clue, just mentioning i don't think you're getting an answer ;)
Hah. Off home now (only 78 words found. Sigh - work keeps intefering)
bye matty! see you later!
lmao, thanks for clarifying! you should have seen the puzzled look on my face!
bye matty
for such an easy looking puzzle, the words are really coming hard, at least the early ones
later matty
an6 take the p off pa6
an6/21 if you have the pa7/36 remove the first letter
meant pa 7!
thanks!
Has every one gone out????

hi leigh
Hi leigh Dinner sounds great!
and annie :)
Hi Annie
did anyone notice-there is a ur5/14 in the word list but not in lickety`s list
hey annie and leigh
(((LESLIE)))
im missing a 'u'....i have the negative of the fishing part..the urinary one..the encourage ..an encourager..and the speaking one..
majmom, i don't have a ur5/14 (yet)...got a clue for what you found?
Just stopping in to try and get as much as I can done before work.... I might not be back much before the flop.

Others have a flip leigh trust you to have a flop
I'm missing two i words... I have the angry one...
no leigh..thx..ill look..
I feel like a flop today. =)
oh no i missed the nut hug!! hey nut!
There's one ur 4 and one ur 6
ur5--one who does the ur4 (second one)
Both have to do with the pee-pee tract.
oh thats better!!!! thought i was being ignored!

sorry playing wrong side
ok, 70 left, taking a nap
yes the 1 above is a 5/14

Can you clue on the 5/14 majmom?
5/14 is the person who does the 4/7
i think it's a 5/16 not 14.
Thanks lucy that is the 5/16
to coax=ur**-maybe its the points that are wrong in my word list-anyway enough ur`s lol
no 5/14 in the u's
it's 5/14 on BJ's list and 5/16 on lickety's, I think someone said
Problem solved!!
Morning annie love, and all other babblers
Hi hetty
hello hetty
Hetty dear, how are you feeling?
Hi cait, leslie. As gar as how I'm feeling, nnie, Stid was babbling earlier about synchronicity--let's just say all these "ur" clues are a bit near the knuckle
oh dear. I have a very unhappy spaniel. I moved the rubbish bin up onto the table cos she was rootling in it constantly and you'd think I was starving her or hitting her or something!!
In other words the pee-pee words are germane
Yay for the 9 letter....that helps.
ooooh atalante..you are soooocruel..lol
Hetty, I hope as the day goes on and you babble as much as you can you start to feel better. Hetty, I know, that hurts!!! A little pyridium would help you a lot!
pa6?
I know. mean mean mean me. am getting very big brown puppy eyes ...
afternoon all!
better go and get supper ready now!! Sory to hear you are not to well Hetty. Catch you all tomorrow ..Bye
Bye caitlyn

heh, i was like "gee, am i leaving already?!" ;)
hi debb, no stay, evan
harp pa6 - woman's undergarment
panties
heh, close harp -- singular!
oops, keepin with the pee-pee theme, I guess!
Thanks, annie, that's what my dear husband says---in fact he's gone to get some for me. I shall babble as much as I can between necessary bouts of proneness.Have a happy day you fellow babblers
hehe
I hope you feel better Hetty!
good luck hetty
Hi all, clues for the 8's and 9 letter word please
i will annie - but sometimes these people at work - make me work!!! feel good hetty - gets lots of rest
*stoopid PH4 word!*
hope you feel better Hetty
th8 - what you use to choke a car engine, 9 is the person doing the choking
Hi Hetty, don't know what is going on with you but feel you could use some hugs (((((((((hetty))))))))
still not a real word, if you ask ME!
Okay, I need to leave now. =: Bye everyone.
bye leigh!
Hetty, That medicine will ease the discomfort. Please feel better soon!
get some cranberry juice at the same time, hetty ...
Lucy, you must be at least my age, if you actually used a manual choke!
*resists urge to make naught comment about manual choking!!*
actually, 33 in a couple of weeks :) Borrowed that clue from someone else, though I have used a manual choke!
found th8/45 by myself !
laugh evan!!!
bye leigh
my personal clue would have been something more along the line of "something I feel like doing to family by the 3rd day of vacation, and what you could call me when I did it" :)
evan you bad girl
My what splendid nurses you all are. Peri, my problem derives from having had too many babies--as if one ever could!
or is it me that's bad, for thinking what I thought?
hey, i alluded to it first...hehe
I have worked for a surgeon who dealt with that Hetty, extremely common. I feel for you.
hay is atticus out there?
le8 anyone?
thanks Lucy did not even see you clue
yw! glad you found it anyway!
le .8 ....shoes are made of this
isnt that the 7 annie?
think that was le7. le8 is le7, add a hump consonant
shirin, yes it is, sorry
why is rutter not in the dictionary??????????
thank you
clue for the re8 please
it's spelled with d's
to warm up again peri
or one who does the rewarming
thanks shirin, got it
how about the ol6?
sorry don't have that one
no, you're right molly, an elk in heat is a rutter.
Shirin - margarine-like
ol6.............spanish cheer + did eat
thanks kalea
And believe, me, we're not talking about something that steers a boat!
yw
ahhh, I knew about rut. didn't know they called them rutters :)

thats a *bug
got it, thx inge :)
did someone say typy troll?
yes, inge, the typy troll ;)
see, it got me
The typo troll: " fee fie fo fum, i sdpfoij the sdf" er, make that "fewe fie of rum", er make that"fii fie fo gum.,"
got to check on launddry, do some ironing, back later
LOL jane, makes it hard to rhyme, i suppose
It amazes me that people iron. Isn't that what the clothes drier is for?
at least I am leaving laughing out loud
lol.......i iron everything
harpjane, not if you like 100 % cotton clothes, and I am just doing touch ups of my husbands sports shirts and kaki pants
I'm like Erma Bombeck, the only thing I use the iron for is to press down those peksy little tags that say "never needs ironing"
laughs
great, I will try that now. Bye for good
60 to go, think I'll actually go paint. I took the day off so I could paint, and so far I've shopped, exercised, and babbled....
i think that's a pretty productive day, jane
Well, yeah, but now it's 85 degrees out! I should have painted, then shopped when it got hot.... oh well
i've...........well, slept and babbled
right, i'm with kalea ;) well have a good time, jane!
can anyone help me with a clue for the first re 6/18? it's my last one for the day and i'm feeling dense...
re....to rip again
sorry bookgrrl i don't have it yet
Re 6/18 -- the person who does or is the re 4/4 preceeding
thanks, kalea, but i have that one...
thanks, ARB!
Isn't teal a word? like teal blue?
its also a bird
yes, the a just isn't by the l
it is, you can't make it in the puzzle, lttoni
Yes, but the a isn't next to the l.
Oops, that wasn't the problem.
It's also not in the puzzle. MWAAAHAAA the phantom words got you.
lol fiz, those phantom words are evil
tttoni - is that like ch-ch-ch-chia? You know - the chia pet commercials?
hiya erb - how goes it there today?
Morning / whatever-time-it-is-where-you-are, all. Does anyone have a clue for the re8,45 one, please?
hey debb
the person who warms something again, frogtaco
hiya leslie !
re....one who warms up again
frogtago, the motor was going full .....
hey all. frog, the object or person who does something again over a hot element
Oy! it's so obvious now. Thx all!
Fiz, yeh, I stutter
Oh - I'm a little embarrased - but seems like you've got a sense of humor about it.
No, I really don't have a stutter. Well, finger was just a bit lazy when typing in my username.
that is a 6/21 word, I thought we were looking for a 6/18
Well - every time I see your name I want to say it out loud.
Now the "chia" earworm is in my head!!!
pshaw! all these e's and no "eerie" in the puzzle??
Sorry, T-T-T-Toni!
hmmm, somehow i don't think she *is* sorry, toni ;)
LOL leslieann! where on earth did you get that icon?
i googled "funny pumpkin" and this popped up. it's certainly lots of orange!!

Congratulatiosn! I like it when those long words are at least words I've heard!
yes, makes 'em easier to find!
is there some explanation to this puzzle available? Like, how does one play it?
fried: click on Angelsong's link below
fried, just type......RUN NOW B4 YOU GET SUCKED IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
try the "help" icon up top, or the "angelsong's resource page" link below, fried
there's a help link or angelsong's babble page.
lol, praes
thanks, missed that help icon.
good evening everyone : )
np, ask if you have any other questions, fried!
hola, lola.
hello lola, pretty icon
just passing along some advice, I stumbled along this place by accident and i can't stop. Then i finished a grid-----ONCE-----and i am so hopelessly addicted
lo, lola
why isn't "arian" in the dictionary? (not that I'm a nazi or something)
thanks leslieann : )
i think it's with a y - aryan
because its capitalised
and that!
Many possible reasons. 1. usually spelled with a y, 2. proper noun. 3. the dictionary used by the game is COMPLETELY ARBITRARY!
hi ata : ) nice pics of tea with hursh...you had LMP!!! : D
#3 is the most important
CapitaliZed - you Brits need to learn how to spell ..
this game is too difficult for me, I've got a total of 1 words :P
:P ...hi tor!
it gets easier, fried ;)
Babble wisdom: The journey of a thousand words starts with a single one. (or in today's grid, the journey of 166 words.)
we did! I took that pic just for you lola!
it comes with time Fried......Give it a bit. Close ur eyes, Fart away ur troubles, then look again.
ew
I'm learning a lot of new ones today, so it has been slow going..
i know you did ata! : D
role
how cute is hursh?? : )
Cheez an rice! Dangnabit
mmmmm it was all gorgeous!
There, fried! Watch Praes and you've got another!
she's so lovely!
anyone have pa6/21
atalante, did you post a pic somewhere?
not me pab!
ermmmm yes - let me find the linky again!
is she having a good time touring europe?
a woman's underthings, pabtrek
I'm stuck on the n words! Any help? I have the "fluffer nu****"
today's phantom word: orphan
pa6/21 is alterante spelling of knickers, women's undergarment
(alternate)
Hello, tracymoo.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/29022965@ N00/sets/72157594198878166/
ooh, thanks LA and Vicuna!
as usual vicuna - best clues evah!
thanks Vicuna, kept going around that
yes, she's having a lovely time - though I think she'll be happy to get home too. 5 weeks travelling constantly between places is a long long time
...and we miss her on babble! : (
ol6/18 anyone
she'll be back home pretty soon now
Spanish "Huzzah!" + consumed food
ol6...spanish cheer plus past tense of consume : )
thanks frogtaco and lola, could have sworn i typed that in a number of times already, thanks again!
nice pics atalante! food looks yummy and the setting was just gorgeous.
well done lola100
all the good money grubbing words like lawyer are valid, but realtor isn't? sheesh........
it's trademarked, bj
the a isn't next to the l, brandyjack.
and hello, btw :)
hey brandyjack! haven't seen you for ages :)
There are many fine almost words with the a in the wrong place!
at7?
too much glare on my screen. But it did say it couldn't find it in the dictionary, not that it wasn't in the puzzle....
he he he cute thing drawn on the train last night for your general amusement: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36 311692/
cute atalante! vampire chihuahua?
"realtor" has been added to the newest dictionaries, but that excludes Enable; why am I not surprised? (-:
at7...sporty person?
realtor isnt even in this puzzle.
LOL it really wasn't meant to look like a chihuahua - it just happened! its a little fantasy creature that half-gargoyle half-bat thing with big teeth - from the book I'm reading at the moment!
thanks lola!
argh, thanks lola
psst... realtor is trademarked by the n'tl assn. of realtors
so it's capitalized, so not taken (even if it was in the puzzle)
Back again. Had to leave for a while. I have some catching up to do.
I am pretty sure we've had realtor before and it was accepted.
nope, we've had this convo a few times
hello, captain jack
it says it's not in the dictionary though, not just not in the puzzle.
hi rumple!
I-I-I-I-I-I-It's me! hoorah! : D
hi anj
Hi Fran : )
hello, Anj!
Hello, rumple, Anj.
Ho, me mateys. Jack here.
'Allo Alo :D
hey babe {{{xxx}}} ; )
Pirates 2 is wonderful, by the way.
Hi Vic, Rump...: ) Hey babe {{{xxx}}} :)
anj, hey stranger
http://www.playbabble.com/510 this puzzle had "realtor" in it, but it wasn't accepted. "relator," oddly enough, is though
Yo 'Nut : ) How you been??
Well, I just fed it to my solver and it didn't print out realtor even though I made sure it was there...... Tood bad we couldn't get Lawyer's to trademark their profession too so we couldn't print it or refer to them in any way shape or form too..... Although realtor's haven't gone away yet either.....
kickin anj....kickin
you made a lawyer joke, BJ!
LeslieAnn with the scientific data to back her up!
Hello all - meet William of Orange. There's an interesting url in my profile...
hi jilli!
lol i just remember the convo before, i was mad b/c i had actually found it...
Hi Fran!
Hello, jilli.
Hello all.
hi jilli, shutter
Hi shutter and all
hi shutter
brandyjack - i'd tried realtor as well - weird, eh?
how's y'all doin?
great shutterbug, how about you?
hi shutterbug; slow go for me today
just came back - 65 to go
not as bad as 'internet' though.....
pretty good.
I'm stuck, with just 17 words :(
hello friedpenguin, you new here?
maybe al gore trademarked it!
Maybe Al Gore patented "internet" LOL
yup, stumbled across
fried, try this link, it has all first and second letters: http://p105.ezboard.com/fbabblersanony mousfrm2.showMessage?topicID=6.topic
fried penguin...i've never tried fried penguin.
great minds, fran!
jinx jilli!!
LOL fran and jilli!!
well, welcome to babble penguin. you'll get better. there are 166 words in this grid today.
That's a dead link. Leslie
but thx anyway
Fried, they aren't always in a stright or level line. Some of them are tied up like a gordian knot. The person who engages in sports, AT7/32, starts with one of the two 'A', does a slow counterclockwise spin before zigzagging to the bottom like a tilted pinball game.....
you have to c&p the second line, also. or click on lickety's babble clues link below
Fried, just go to "lickety's clues" link down below the grid.
just dawned on me... we need an "s" in this grid.
you have to paste it in pieces fried, it's not a dead link, trust me.
...and if you wait about, someone* always types a word or two in the chat log : ) * usually me, or at least that's what my lawyer say I should say...
be prepared to throw away all your free time on it too.....
lol anj!
your life, as you know it, will be over
anj, yahoo has an animated fractal on their main page today
great, another addiction
if you have children, they will learn to feed themselves.
no, aloysius, if we had an s we would be here for even longer
no, its not penguin. I thought that to at first. copy the first line, paste it into your browser, then do the other half.
Leslie, I have some of those : ) I've got a fractal generator as well...
(-: well, at least it would go a bit faster..
I'm thankful that mine are grown and out of the house, fran...I don't know how you younguns do it.
dorens, i was just thinking that, word list would be twice as long!
true, al
joking of course dorens! when they need me i drop the grid...really!
I've already met William of Orange, thank you very much jilli. Just back from being told I have an infection, so will play babble for comfort--see you later
brb, son wants chocolate milk
right, for at *least* a minute and a half for fran
my kids would have had to raise themselves if this were around then.... it was bad enough trying to do my crossword puzzles, but they moved with me and weren't nearly so seductive
ooh, I like that pa7/36!
*there will now be a Babblebreak while the Omnes rush off to find chocolate* Meanwhile, a word from our sponsor: "Crevice!" I thank you...
anj, LOL!!
nice word choice, anj
oh dear, Hetty! But did you go to Billy's website?
yes, the pa 7 is so convoluted
slinky, like the creature...
phantom word: anteater
*pops in to mention she's in the grid today!*
...intersting that the German version of the word was in yesterday's grid...
Not yet, jilli--saving that for when I need a different kind of cheer
it's very interesting and surprising
hi feather, who is in the grid?
me!!!!! least, my real name is
Hetty - are you loaded with antibiotics? Has it helped the discomfort?
oooh you mean you're real name? cause i just typed in feather, and bee, and neither are there ;)
oh how nice for you....i found you, feather...
i saw you right away feather!
hee, nope, but close leslie!
Warning: I am now entering words again. I apologise in advance for any that appear in the chat log. My pc skilss are having a bout with senile decay just now...
i'm all tickled about it, obviously
i was wondering about that earlier and had just decided you had been playing the game a ltitle too long.....
wtg, anj!
I tried feather too. Thanks, got your real name now. I am surprised that it is accepted.
feather, does the grid accept it?
rita
yes, leslie.;
CRAP i don't know feather's name
It is a plant, guys.
look at her profile, leslie.
silly, look at my profile
leslie, it's a flowering shrub i think.
change first letter,leslie
what's this? do names and acronyms count? (referring to some shakespaerian character with an L)
lovely little flowers on it, too
it's a scottish flower
man am i an idiot
have you got it planted in your garden, feather? it really is lovely
*grin*
i had a pot of it at one point, no longer
anyone have the other he7s?
jilli, I'm about to be atibioticised one Alan is home. Meantime, play on, MacWilliam---
ancient greek courtesans
Sheesh. I don't think I was invloved with any courtesans in any ancient Greek former lives.
check onelook's reverse dictionary vic, i just found it there!
nasty to clue: try this: he+ anagram of the water that comes out of your eye when you are sad + first vowel... whew..
both versions
well, Hetty, may you be properly distracted by babbling!
thanks Aloy, was just trying to work out how to clue them!
hello
and the other one is one vowel different
then the other one is he+ anagram of pretty little head ornament
Atalante, what is the courtesan clue about?

ok. ar 5/10?
yes, it's hard shutter!
ar5/10 - possible a latin pl of the previous
it is pretty time consuming, this grid
just like 4/r above, just add another vowel
all vowels feather / third and fifth are alike
no wonder i couldn't see it! stupid vowels...
i second that feather....very stupid indeed
phew! finished the he's [fanning herself]

thats a funny word fran.
ok soups on simmer, back outside for me.
my last r - re 6/21 directly after the 8?
me too harp
Hmmm...I seem to be aflicted with selective entry. Has anyone else noticed the server seems to ignore the odd word when you enter a few on the bounce??
that
harpjane, nah, that's where you cook 'em
that's a novel idea harp
it's down to all re's for me
Leslie - re6/21 put a new part on a shoe
brb, diaper time
I need need one more word before I can take a break. ( I said so ).
and what word would you like shutterbug?
cause then I will have 70 words.
took me a bit, thanks bugzy
Mine does that sometimes, Anj. Either it will ignore the word, or not add it to my list - but when I re-enter it, it says I already have it.... :S
i will take a break as well, with 21 to go. see you later, folks.
same problem sometimes Anj
If you refresh after it does that, it'll sort itself out, usually. Or just be sure not to enter things until you see the last one hit.
yeah, the server doesn't like it when i type in words too fast either
Bugzy, i'm finding words that I *know* I entered are missing and I have to enter them again. I've found at least 3 like that today so far... : s
first nu6/21 please?
tiny little acorn, featherbee
I have the crazy person. I don't know whether it's first.
feather. as the advert for Dime goes: "That man's a nu6/21. Oi! NU6/21!..." Could be slang for a squirrell, or Zinedine Zidane : )
the other nu 6/21 is what the squirrels eat + to allow
a little seeded food source
thank you! i don't know how many times i tried to make nuttee and nuttle go
nutlet
gasp
YES! Lets' hear it for the Anj *Does mad-eyed boogie thru' the log*
*sigh* sorry : /
I was trying 'nurtle' ...
lol smack Anj with a fish
...or just throw nu6's at him ;)
I prefer the fish. I'm funny that way... % )
hey who wants to give me 100 words?
i'm back, the dite wigged for a few. anyway, now I have my 70 words since anj gave it to me :)
Go back through themlog corona...they're gratis...

Is that a farewell, artlady, or advice to helen on when she should do her taxes?
advice to helen.
yes, that's definitely advice on when to do the taxes - that she hasn't responded means nothing! nothing, i tell you, nothing at all!
Whew. Got 83. half way home. Now I can check Lickety (my self-imposed rule)
It just doesn't work well in chat form to leave gaps in sentences...they get broken apart!
miller i have the same ru 4/5
Helen, the IRS is very understanding...
hiya leslie!
I'm out of here. I've got just 40 words and I'm getting tired. Probably because inhere it's already 22:18...

fran's is two clues, parsec, not a big black cat wearing ladies' underwear

re7-meet again
re8/45 - someone who sticks leftovers in the microwave
Vicuna and Fran, I believe the clues you gave me refer to the an6/21 and not the an6/18
re8/45 add onto there6/21
another re7/28 is to beat a hasty re*****

hi everyone!
is it true that we won't have Lickety anymore?
hi annie
go flask go ! i have 13 - you'll probably beat me
Hi Annie
hi all -- I have a strange thing. I have a 7 letter word (the re that means someone who no longer works) and at first on my word stats it showed up as 8 letters, 35 points. So I refreshed, and now it shows up as 7 letters, but still 35 points, which is of course not possible. ???? Any input?
hello annie!
true chily
spooky ch1212...lol
there is no way I'll be able to do the grid anymore
ch1212 - that's weird - it should be 7/28. Maybe if you refresh again..???
what? no lickety?
Ch 1212 the word lists makes some changes like that. I t all gets straightened out in the final count
no lickety
eeeeek! no lickety???
chily, use bj's list
I shall try refreshing a second time ...
Maybe chiley's 2 weeks are up?
is he going to re6/18?
why?
inge, I'm like jilli was, stuck on the re's. I need the first and second re6/21's; the re8/45; the next re6/21; the last re4e; and the 6/18--5/10--5/10 that follow
no...check the log at 8:35 a.m.....it was an official announcement
How do I get BJ's list?
he's going to do his nails in that time slot instead
babs anon chiley
I crash when I try to check the log... :-[]
hi all! what happened to lickety's list?
may i please be clued on the ae6?
I have the one about changing up or down
1st re6/21 - get a sound again, second is get warm again
curious ... I refreshed a second time and still showing 7/35. Odd.

lickety worked for me today
no someone said lickety's not doing hi list anymore, which is fine because we have BJs

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
getting the back part of it surfaced again, hetty
Gotcha
deb - you could go listless!!!
Good Evening to my Fellow Babblers! How is everyone?
the re4/4 is re + shed a **ar

the next re6/18 is to shed that wet again, or rip again
except I dont see what a **ar is
evanonut - your poem and icon are funny!
why thank you deb - i worked hard on it!
I was able to get 75 listless, then got 24 more w/the list. Now I think I could use some of your clues.Okay?
the folloowing re5/10 is re + spanish aunt, *** Maria
for some reason can't seem to access the log
well, I checked this morning's log and lickety is definitely pulling out as of today; Mr. President suggested she could run it and others have offered tohelp. Lets hope this is not the end of Lickety's list.

I can't believe no more Lickety's! I guess will have to BJs. Can't we also use Angel Song's website for a list?
I need an 6/18 myself....
Please, someone, what is a Spanish aunt?
an6/18 is an extension of last an4/4, add **e you feeling okay?

Or, flask, flowers have them
min, angelsong's page just has links to lickety and BJs lists
at 7/32 pls?
sorry - the an6/21 is part of a flower, goes with stamen, sounds like a lisped reply to a question ;)
the an6/21 sounds like a response to a question with a lisp flask
at732-- a player of sports
at 7 - is one who does sports
at7 is someone who participates in sports
daisy, one who plays a sport
at 7. 32 a person who excels at sports
oh! duh...ty so that's what that olympics clue meant earlier...
hi annie and une!
Thanks Annnie. Still missing the last re4 though
dont have that one, hetty
hetty, re + first two letters of hot bev that is not coffee
*sigh*
hi fran!!!!
what a week
hetty, it's a bundle of fibrous tissue.
How long does it take for Bj to get the list up?I know that Lickety was very good at getting up right away
re4 - re + the first 2 letters of the wetness
min, i don't think it matters as long as we have something to help us.
Did you get that annie? Lovely clue, Franmag!
I think it's up by 9:00am Eastern Time
thanks hetty!
got it, fran gives great clues...
Fran.....can't get it....lol
which one flask?
flower with lisp....lol
Right Fran!I never look at a list til afternoon anyway
hello all, just logged back in.
flask, deer have an****s on their head, change the L to an H
just remove first letter from pa7/36
hi stid!
hi, stid!
hi stid!!!
hi Stid
really should have got that re4--along with all the urinary clues it sums me up today
i have 89 words so far...almost half way thru...no list and nary a clue
go Cathy go!
hetty, are you feeling any better?
use une's clue flask, more direct route!
hetty, how are you doing with the p's? ;)
hi stid, so did I (just return)!
Hello stidmama! How are you doing? Did you hear the dreadful news for the day about no more Lickety's? I was in shock when I first read about no more Lickety
artlady, haven't seen you in ages!!
hi artlady!
thanks Fran....got it!
hi artlady
NO MORE LICKETY???? what? when?
welcome back artlady!
Having just lost my lunch, yes! Thanks Annie. Forgive me my complaints (both kinds!)
but BJ's list is great too
are you serious, ther is not going to be anymore licketys list? OH NO!!!!
Welcome back to the grid artlady! How are you today
he's too busy to post clues anymore. it's okay, we still have BJ.
just use BJ's list!
Oh, Hetty -- poor you!
I dont know who where bj's os.
may i have a clue PLEASE for the le8?
hetty, i hope you feel better soon!
BrandyJack--his list was around for quite awhile before Lickety's--you'll find it equally helpful
Hetty, complain away, just sorry that you have reason to do so.
I dont know what bjs list is.
cathy, add a consonant to the cow hide le8, it means like le8
Well --- I use both the lists at different times... I can cope... *breathes deeply and with purpose*
Cath, do you have the le7? Just add a consonant to make it an adj
where is it?
Too bad about lickety. I just started using his. Used BrandyJack's for months. I liked the check boxes on lickety's!
why did people abandon bj for lickety?
Oh yeah,I forgot about Brandyjack! He still does lists?
shutter, BJ is BrandyJack. He has a list he generates. It is posted at Babbler's Anonymous in the "General" section
shutter, there is a link to babblers anonymous below, it's posted under General topics
BJ's list: http://tinyurl.com/q4nna
ahhh....ty so much Jill!!! can always count on ya! ;)
Let's hope mrpresident can keep lickety's list going, or that brandyjack can figure out the boxes!
yes, BJ had stopped doing his list for a while, but some people found it easier to use than Lickety's higher-tech version. I really do use both!
Well, thank YOU, Cath
the boxes r easy...use form fields to generate the boxes
UGH, i dont like bjs list. I wonder if anyone could take over lisketys list? and, when is it supposed to be stopped?
yw jill!!! :)
hey, cath-- you're elected!!!
With Lickety's list you can keep track of your words right online! Can you also do that with BrandyJack's?
today is the last day, but mr pres said he could help and another person from the conversation this morning offered to help as well
I love the boxes and the way Lickety's list works by dropping the word into the right place in the list -- great when there are lots like todays re section!
lol...i would if i knew how lickety could get all the words b4 anyone else can!!!
no, minver, thats why I dont like it.
today was the last shutter, just remember both of them posted out of love of the game, we should just be happy to have help.
i love stuff like that...fav part of my job at work is creating docs people find useful
yes, atalante offered to help, they're emailing each other last i knew *goes back to getting daniel ready for bed*
I lways paste licket's list into (mac) simpletext (notepad on pc)
hey feather!
I also am upset to hear about Lickety's list, I mean it has everything that the actual game should have.......clickable tiles, boxes next to each alpha/numeric clue for the words to appear in etc.....
nite daniel
good night Daniel!
just remember, folks, initially there were NO lists at all!
I'm sorry fran, I shouldnt complain. I just loved all of licketys new features. Oh, well, what happened to the old days of bable, when you didnt have anything but the grid and the chat log?
seems to me someone out here the other nite was working on a helpful list...can't recall who it was, but they did say they were gonna post it
Yes, it's a sign of how popular Babble has become, with all the support sites!
and once upon a time there were no computers...
those were the good old days, it should have stayed that way.
jillibus, LOL!!
one aponce a time...as my son used to say when he was 2 1/2
NO, shutter!
libarebel,I did the same thing with Lickety's.I pasted it onto a word document and then printed it out so I could write the words. Takes a little longer to do grid
it was better when there were no stats, lists, or anything like that.
You got your clues from the other players. However, I use every crutch I can find!
ohhhhhh, I am soooooo sad
why shutter?
what is a girl to do without lickety's list?
shutter, comment wasn't just for you! :-)
Minver, I did that with BJ's. Same idea.
i just open lickety's list on a new web pg and flip back n forth...goes quik
nrkii -- just because I had the top score in secret word yesterday?
stid, you were awesome!!!!
cath, i do the same with BJ's list
*beams* I was really surprised...
I like my method. I shrank the list sideways so that it would fit between the grid and the chat, then I could move it around and toggle back and forth to fill in both lists
hi nrkii
don't say today's word!! i haven't gone today yet.
me too, jillibus!
hey nrk!
une...i haven't even looked at bj's list yet...i must go and check it out in memry of lost lickety
hiya nrkii and stid -- (((still crying about lickety)))
because it really was more fun that way. nowadays so many people finish, its not even really worth trying. you usually dont have to look that hard for a word. You have got to remember, I've been here for years, it was so much better before.
but where the heck is the link to it?
hi all, sorry to start out complaining -- will suck it up now
http://tinyurl.com/q4nna
then people started coming up with so many nice things that helped, but then it is kinda like cheeting.
I haven't either Fran -- I try to wait until I am done babbling... but this news about Lickety might push me to do the other games for a bit.
true
gotta cheat when some of the words to so freakin obscure
I understand shutter.
Please can someone clue me for the ro4--not the part one plays, the other one
not that I dont like the new stuff, I do, and I do use the lists, it was just more fun the old way. and you had to use your brain more.
hetty, add a consonant to what old fruit does
oh, hetty, it's a babblet!
Cathyar, you said that you create programs at work so why not greate another program for a Babble list?
hetty -- I think that's the game -- looks Aztec or Mayan to me.
I dunno shutter, I went without the list till I got down to 24 left today, and I feel like I used my brain JUST ENOUGH :)
waaaaaaaaait a minute - no lickety is bad enough - but less of stid ???
I was wrong -- the ro 4.4 hetty needs is "A unit of weight used in countries bordering on the Mediterranean and in nearby areas, varying in different regions"
Hear hear, nrkii!
I just got here... sorry to be repetitive, but why is there not going to be Lickety page any longer?
still, years ago you didnt even know if you got all the words or not. the goal was to find as many as YOU could. not get every possible word.
I use my brain plenty trying to get half of the words.
he doesn't have time to do it every day daisy *
Oh, I'll still be here debb! I love this game, with or without lists. The company here is so good. But a bit of a distraction isn't horrible.
Then I goto the chat log & list. My brain is fried now!
shutter -- how many years have you been babbling?
hetty, the ro4/4 after the part makes frequent appearances - disintegration + stick letter - Mediterranean weight
gtg now, bye all.
bummer...
*** whew ***
later shutter
lol...try makin the time for it minver...i'm a single mom...landlady...with aging ailing parents who works a day job and tries to babble and have a life...babble and boyfriend are all i have for stress relief...sometimes the b/f is more of a stress-causation, but regardless...life is so busy ...perhaps i would if someone would tell me how to have all the words b4 the day's puzzle even comes online
bye shutter!
ok am outa here....can't finish...my brain is sore...lol
ok am outa here....can't finish...my brain is sore...lol
but then...if i had all the words, i couldn't play either..
Thanks jilli. I had a feeling I had seen that word before, but my brain is addled today
see you later flask!

i mean mab of course!
oh dear, me too, Judy....
mab - barbaro?
really, enable must be designed to be devious. yes temple, I fear he will not be with us longer.
i thought barbaro was getting better?
yes it is bad...the last few derby winners have had no luck at all
thoroughbreds of barbaro's breeding are really so delicate.

methinks stidmama is correct...when it flips to the new grid the stats update
strange, mine didn't change yesterday. I wonder if the upgrading affected it or something.
dr. god looks after that
lucy...lovey bouquet
Are you sure you're reading them correctly Lucy? At the beginning, I thought I should have been on the list quicker than I was, but by reading the descriptions of what is being ranked, I understood better.

well, I'm not on any list :) It just tells me my personal score - but after I solved my first puzzle, it wasn't any different than it was after I only half-solved one
Lucy, i think it took a month before i got onto that chart
Which GR7/40 ronnie?
gh6/27 = specific sometimes downtrodden neighborhood
gr 7 alexander the gr*** + more
ronnie, gh6/27 is poor part of the city

hi jbp!
hi jpb and gooooooo stid!
hi woulf!
Hi Greywoulf
nice new icon woulf!
hi gw!
However, I also experienced the shock of having my ranking drop over twenty points when I didn't finish ONE grid
ouch
2
hi Woulf!
k...got my last gh and am now saying g'nite all...bye bye
That was when I decided that the rankings were nice and all , but ultimately not important at all
same here woulf! i tried to do one while i had guests and only finished half, my ranking dropped about 20 points!
I must have thought I saw it earlier than I actually did.
*snoring in bed at last*
gooooo stid!

tu 7 is more teenage ninja like
firewords. Thanks FRan.
I pulled the wolf out of my icon library about a week or so ago -- he reflects my hanging in the background more than chatting these days :)
yay stid!!!!!!!

Lucy, I like it. It's got those lovely slenderizing stripes... LOL
thanks Fran...
I have two choices for the new icon. (LAUGH!) I search Google images with the category and my son's name. :)
HA!
i've seen that before, but it always thwarts me
thanks, I thought those were different!
I hate those kinds of days, stid -- my suffering these days can at least be linked to having to work out in the non climate controlled shop these days.... I am not looking forward to going to work on Monday -- the temp here is supposed to hit 98!!
Congratluations stidmama on fireworks!Good for you
so the other bottom a would be....?

Babble will do that to you! I'm up for most of the flips!
lucy, is your son named POE?
gr5/16 = a guttural sound
LOL feather!
oooh, feather - you geek ;)
lol lucy!!!
i like the first one better lucy, easier to see n the small pic.
oh oh *dials the 12-step babble HQ*
nice guess, but no :)
how about the lower n... i have the n 6/21 that goes with fluffer in a sandwich
"hi, my name is he7/36, and i'm a babbleholic"
gr5/16 is invariably my husband's answer to most of my questions.
I just like Poe, and my husband went to the Univ of Virginia, where Poe was once a student (they keep his room there)
