hi everyone
hello arb hows family
going to look for a colour...
I didn't finish the grid, but I got 4154 points which is probably the most I have ever gotten! I think I might have finished if I did not have my niece typing w/one finger for a few hours. Thanks to all for all of your help
woo hoo fixed the keyboard
shalom ARB, good to see you.
stid, did the theme change? i thought today was favorite color?
Daughter is spokesperson for state department, son-in-law in think-tank
Well done, Min!
never mind, i just read your explanation!
well done min
today is fav color, but I won't be here Tuesday, and that is favorite author... since I have no favorite color (like most of them) I decided to go with Anthony...
i'm flipping between the sheets
don't know what my final score as the computor crashed.
mistress you can check the archive pages
And on that note good night good day and goodbye for now as the computer and i both need a brack
hetty? still awake? I am merely awaiting my icecream and then off to beddy bye for me!
Goodnight to all!Thank you for all of your great clues!
well, i'll see all you lovely people later (jilli) or tomorrow.

Not quite awake, Stid, my laptop keps slipping off my pillows. I've started a message to you which I'll complete tomorrow.' Night now

hi ren!
I'm not pr*** to argue
her stid - how are you doing? how's that headache?
LOL hetty! thanks!
back for flip - with some delay - hi
cool icon, ren!
hey ya ping
headache is abating somewhat, but persistent. not enjoying a whole lot, but babbling and TV are nice because I don't have to move!
hi Ping1
thanks, hetty, my first word!
hi stid - are your headaches migraines?
thanks ping....my 3 favorite colors...your's looks like a very peaceful collage!
it's a photo of a glacier i think
doesn't look like photography, does it?
some of them are, this one I don't think so -- more like a tension headache with some sinus involvment...
wow ping - i thought was a composite of papers and washes! does not look like a foto!
hi everyone
hey kier
stid - i have that brave combo too - argh, yes?
hi kierlex!
hi kierlex!
Arg indeed, Ping!
re7, just fyi if no one's posted it yet.
i am so tired and i want a stiff margarita! my hubby and 4-year old daughter were in a 4-wheeler accident and hub broke ribs and smashed ankle and i am exhausted WHINE WHINE WHINE
kierlex, you have a right! We will keep your husband and daughter (and you ) in our good thoughts and wishes.
oh no!!!! kierlex -- you must be a wreck!
sorry to hear it, kierlex - hope you are all on the mend soon
Kierlex, how is your daughter doing?
well, I would be... I hope your daughter was shaken but unhurt? Will your husband be okay?
oh kier! whine is ok - after that kind of day!
my daughter is just fine, as the 4 wheeler was tipping over my hub jumped off and sheltered her with his body. it rolled over him and down the hill/cliff. She only has a tiny little bruise
kier, so sorry to hear, just glad it wasn't more serious, hope they both mend quickly
it could have been sooo much worse!
amazing that your husband was able to do that!
what a brave thing for him to have done. Thank goodness he had the presence of mind... and hope he isn't in too much pain.
it is hard to be a nurse 24/7 tho =)
well, he is a police officer and they have soooo much training where they just REACT to things without thinking. I think that really helped
Aww. I'm so sorry to hear that kier! I'm glad everyone is OK! Sounds like your husband was quite a hero. My thoughts are with you and your family!
yes, it is. DO be good to yourself and let things slide when you can (the floors can be swept later, for example).
sending you good vibes, kier!
Kier glad to hear they ok :)
well it just happened yesterday and today was spent getting groceries and medical stuff and prescriptions and this and that and kindly visitors and and and =)
my 8 year old boy is being a real trooper, helping his dad out. it's nice to see that.

shavua tov, ARB! wow on getting to 100.
go ARB go!
oh, hi, too. I was too busy scowling at the grid.
I need 6 more to get to 100...
i've got just 1 7-letter, none of the 8s - usually i'm pretty good w/the long ones.

there's 2 m7s + an m8
hm. hi muse! I have R6... *looking*
oh! melon! you found them already?
hi oggy! the def for the M7 I have is... "One that produces, designs, or deals in women's fashions."
no, looked at lickety
m7 = troublesome person
Lickety's up?
what's happening with lickety now?
woo-hoo! that means this will be possible to finish tomorrow.... yes, Lickety's list is up already.
ooh, another opera word.
thanks, lickety, I am thrilled your list is up
thanks Lickety...
lickety, you're wonderful
got the m7,s and 8 thanks
mwah--thx for the support lickety
well, I have 108, and stalled out completely. I like to get to halfway before actually referring to a list... so will sign off and see you-all later. *poof*

artdr's ailment - that has a nice ring to it!
oh, sit here, and keep the rest of us idiots company....
kier is catching the ailment too
sit here kier -
but i am an idiot every night. maybe i should expand my horizons =)
isn't babble the enabled idiot....LOL
oh, I like that, Blaze: the enabled idiot!
i have always liked the term 'idiot savant'
as a mother I some times feel. like the idiot servant.... is that the same...LOL
HINT the 2 mo7s are anagrams of one another
then one is a plural
anagrams of 'one another' or?
def of the mo7s?
one could be the opposite of multiple bases, the other i have no idea - but sice it's anagram, how hard will it be to figure out?
hi all!..how many words today?
one is the anagram of the other - how could an m word be an anagram of "one another"????
is either one the fashion designer?
228
hi al3ksia - 228

TEPID! BE THERE!
hi all!
The Student- go on msn
hey herdark... staying up late - hows by you?
um i may not be able to answer clues as the point value system is fooie again. I have a pe 4/9 listed as a pe 4/36. Is good ren, just done the deathly borring house duties
hey atalante
house duties do not compute!
thats what i think ren, vacuming sucks and blows thus i wont do it. Ok i will at my house thats because i have got a wee bit of carpet and it fazes me not, partners house = hell freezing over.
dust bunnies need freedom to roam
chores suck. am spending the day learning about wolves and letting husband clean up :P
that's the way to do it atalante!
thats right bunnies roam free about this house. Atalante, what you watching about the puppies
not watching anything. apart from babble. and deviantart lol
deviantart is gret
one of my mottos - would you want to spend the last day of your life cleaning? that is why i have attack rabbits, grown from dust bunnies
opps great, pardon spelling brain is leaving for the day
you are a woman after my own heart joey!
good call joey, problem is my partners house mate has a small fuzzy dog that sheds alot, thus i ignore the fur and try and control the hygene level in the kitchen since they think hygene is 'hi Gene
Morning Ata
herdark - I love the hi Gene - that is great.
hahahaha her dark...not being a house person, i like that hi gene!
morning FM :)
ren - have you been to Kemah lately?
i was invited to dinner down there this evening only i had to pass and spend time w/ my mom
i am going in sept and am looking for a hotel - any suggestions?
i have to have a kitchen bench you can eat off, sad but true, not one for other chores either part from bathroom. Took me a year to clean up a pile of papers (old school stuff) and books, got so bad i could not find my computor
have to be able to find the puter - that is important
not in the kemah area.....there is a hilton on nasa road 1 down the road from nasa, and there are some places on bay area blvd that have suites
thanks, ren. i appreciate the suggestions
darn straight, wrangled up the books and erradicated the bunnies so i can start again in a fortnight or so
i am loving the word choice so far this evening
i am having friends over to papercraft on monday - have to do a little tomorrow
kemah is right on the waterway from clear lake to the ship channel...it's an old town, good food, and the kemah boardwalk.
i am looking forward to going. it is going to be a quick stay there. a friend is coming in from pa and we are going to three phillies astros games
nice joey! did you watch the allstar game?
hey joey google kemah boardwalk they web site seems too darn cherpy for this hour but sound fun. I live in aus so i had to google what i am missing out
i have 54 left to find - but they are going to wait until tomorrow. good night all and good luck. thanks for the tip, her dark.
oh, yes, saw the game and the home run derby too. won by a phillie
google joey they have a full run down, very jealous
her dark - that part of the world started out as a shrimping and oyster village..down the coast was some gambling and juke joints
i have something like 217 words left
yes, but i am sure that you have places that i would love to see
that was good baseball!
nite all
later joey
oysters and shrimp and im assuming back when it was founded , loose morals and beer wenchs, sounds like my type of fun, as for now ill settle for seafood
yes, it was great baseball.
good to talk to you both thanks
Darn it now you got me drooling on the computor for oysters
me for shrimp. at least I had lobster for my birthday
texas shrimp are probably the best in the worls. big ole pink shrimp!...they're not kosher...but they are pretty!
good seafood in kemah?
i love tasmania salmon and oysters, ren is that coffee shop not starbucks but seperate?
oh yes! really really good
morning all
cool - i miss clam chowder here - only found one restaurant that has any good so far
Good morning FMItch and Ata. How is the British contingent holding up?
how can acer not be a word, thats a vocab with most minors
hahahah haz - we've been stepping on their lines...sorry....
reverse the last two letters, herdark, if you don't have that one already
once again nite all

monkey wouldn't let me enter it
Hello dear gang :) Ata, you've got mail :D And why didn't I see it was a K-grid right away?
Good morning sprite.
They are nice k's sprite (well the 8 I have are).
haz - i hope out talk of texas sea food didn;t put you off of your breakfast...sorry...:-)
I think the monkey gets no bananas today
FMitch, there are no such thing as nice k's. But thanks for giving me courage, lol.
renfield - absolutely not. I was amused by another's remark.
ok noe i see kelp
get them out the way sprite then you don't have to look at them
Yups, working on them. 4 so far.
whew...thanks haz!
i got 2 and a points system thats being dodgy again i have a 4/36 instead of 4/9\
why doesn't that surprise me hdm
most be my luck, i did what was suggested last night and count the tiles, it equals 9 not 36
And why not koran?
this is what i see 4 36
religous reason sprite?
opps that was meant to be must be
*renaming dictionary to kenable*
7 of 11. I am starting to feel like I have been assimilated by the Borg.
giggle sprite
LOL sprite
Spriteno offence to anyone, jerry lynn ryan was a babe in that outfit and every geeky boys (girls?) dream
k 4/9 a kool head sprite
Got that one, thanks ren :) 4x4 and 3x5 so far. And nowhere to go. Just tried kracept.
I have the same sprite *sigh*
why do i feel that plurals is cheating
Wait until you spend an hour looking for some lost words, only to find they were missing plurals.
*lAst words
did that earlier sprite with the larger grid, i went spare considering some had 3 or 4 plurals
Sprite I think lost words works equally well :)
True! Forever lost, lol, FMitch.
my words are always lost
so is my brain at the mo
LOL ren, not lost just very very well hidden, or at least that is what I am finding today.
9 k's! woot! getting there!
*green of envy*
brain is gone and monkeys broken, i think im screwed
Sounds like you need a break, mistress.
I see our favourite volcano is active again (just watching the news, incase you thought that an obscure clue)!
I typed in etna right away, LOL.
lol mitch...and there i was thinking...you cant make it this time
me too sprite...lol
Morning all!
bbl
i looked for it..i'm tha cautious type
Hi and bye, whatever applies ;)
me too!
k mva - jey ya flask
the ks have been kicked in the pants
Still stuck at 7 of 11. "You will never find more K-words. Resistance is futile."
LOL you guys, I was meaning in the larva? and rock kind of way. 1st time its been active in 4 years I think.
lava :)
got them all need help sprite?
hi all! i have 9 or 11 Ks
Thank you Ata
fran back again
if there were more than one eruptions...would it ve lavae???
i have all the k's except 2 ko's
i mean 9 of 11.
Oh Ata, what was that beautiful word for lava again?
unless its spewing baby insects
pahoehoe
pahoehoe???
thought of big pods of larva rolling down the volcano's sides
mistress: thanks for offering :) I will try a bit longer on my own, but I'll get back to you if I am done torturing myself.
its a type of lava
Oh yes, that was it, pahoehoe. Can't think of a better babble word.
it's hawaiian, there are many words for lava in hawaiian
hi hdm!
in the hawaiian classification of lava, its divided into 2 main types - pahoehoe and aa
We MUST have a grid with pahoehoe.
It took a long time, but we finally got one with atlatl.
that was FAB!
hmm..i woulda thought there'd be a lava called....uhoh!...
Absolutely :)
Are there any long Ks, or only 5 and 4?
5's and 4's
That's why I can't stand Ks. They make me feel SO stupid. How can I be able to NOT find 4s and 5s? There only are that many possibilities, right?
just think of hard c's
I think of c words and try them with a k instead works quite well sometimes.
Time for me to go. Back later, hopefully. My favourite psychiatrist is in the grid (cr5/12).
later haz!
See you later Haz
later haz
phew! finished the k's
Bye Haz! Good tip, FMitch, I am gonna try that.
bye Haz :)
night Haz

I have Ko4/8 x 2
the other 4/8 sounds like the center of an apple
does anyone want the ko5/18?
Yes PLEASE!
apparently, it's the plural of the 3rd ko, here's the definition...A sculpture representing a standing young woman clothed in long robes, especially one produced in Greece before the fifth century B.C.
Errr... and never been to Denmark, FMitch. Should I?
LOL Danish currency appears twice in the k's (alt sp)
if you go sprite - be sire you get some get the correct currency....and not the euro
thanks for that clue Fran!! that was great.
be sire??? be sire????how about be sure!
i have kr5/20 (sounds like a jerk) and kr5/18 (sounds like old hag) what am i missing?
Don't know how to make a plural to that Ko4 :( But I found the 2nd currency, thanks! :)
sprite, last two letters sound like what you see with
sprite.......take off the last vowel, and replace with 2 others
found the last one! thanks fmitch!
Fran change the last letter on the 5/18 you already have
Yeah! Only one missing now.
Checking the log and it must be a Ke. I have Ke4/9, ke4/8 and Ke5/18. What am I missing, please?
yey...ty for all the k help ppl...i can move on to doing a domestic job...ill bbl...

reak
sorry, i haven't done that for ages!!!
Then you were entitled to one, Fran :)
how embarrassing...it wasn't even a word! :-(

Hey mrP!
Hey sprite... too many k's!!!
Hi Fran!
Hi MRP. Not really - but made easier by the List - thankyou.
Hi MrP Legend - why are you posting words in the log?
True, mrP! I got rid of them before really starting to play, thanks to the helpful people here :)
ooooo wow! lots to read through - yay!
hi mrp!
:D
hello mrp
Hi all!
Ata - is your icon one of your creations?
ok, I am starting backwards today (again)... might actually make it through that way What is the theme today?
I submit 'caddist': someone who knows all about people who help with golf.
favorite color mrp
cool! going to find the colour!!
i have to admit i tried it too sprite!
sprite - knock off the last letter for a 6/27
yes it is :)
thanks fmitch!
I thought so Ata :) yw Fran
FMitch: thank you. And my apologies for posting an almost word again. I did try the singular to be sure... should have tried this too before blabbing.
ca5/14 - take out one of the double letters from the 6/27 NP sprite :)
had that one, thanks fmitch!
Just found na7/32 alt sp for someone who loves themselves
thanks fmitch!
I think neoR6/21 should be a valid word.
Goes looking for the r6/21 :)
thanks for the r6 sprite!
A very nasty and narrowminded person.
OK, my colour is chosen!
great choice mrp!
Thanks Fran! your purple is divine!!
yes, i wanted full purple impact!
Ah mrP, and you even brought your sweet cat with you :)
Thats brill MrP and you managed to k4/9 limecat in there too.

Morning ARB, my thought are with you and all my freind in the North, at times like this I'm so glad to live down south!!
So are we, Ishult. Wish ARB was living there too now... and all the other people in that area.
mrp - did you put that purple blankie on your puppy?
We're not in the far north -- we're in Tel Aviv, but I have a son-in-law officer and a daughter retired officer who has been called back in.
Boker Tov Ishult
sprite, that ro8, was compound a clue of the definition or the type of word?
Hey rennie!! no, I photoshop tortured another animal! I am ashamed!
Fran: it is a compound word. It is what you see all the time when you are driving.
purple dyed the poor puppster!
The word we all pray for for you, ARB, is there on the Babble grid today. Pe5/14
thanks sprite!
that is a crap-load of C's!! I hate C's!!!
how about those m's and r's...and p's...oh that's mrp!!!!
The other 8s are chemical words. Both end in sour, plural. Mo7/40 - 8/55 single sour Pe7/40 - 8/55 bleaching sour

later fmitch
And for another M7: take the single sour and invert last 3 letters.
awesome sprite!
If I had known knowledge of chemicals would have come in so handy later, I would have tried harder at school :)
any clue for thr ro8?
There is one at 4.26 am, Ishult.
Hi all. Some-one who threatens - ME 7.36
thanks sprite, had both those words, didn't think to put them together
i have a pr7/36, give someone a higher position
I have another Pr7/36: run to see who is faster, before the actual r4/5.

later all....much later...zzzzzzzzzzzz
bye ren!
morning ruthy
hi sha
Help on the or 5/12 ?
hi fran
ARB: Any of a group of mountain nymphs. Or6/21 is the plural. O + what you do with a book.
don't have it yet arb
thanks sprite!
Does that word qualify as a babblet? I always have problems spotting it.
ty sprite - why didn't I remember!
Pass the fish -- never saw the book verb.
it was in yesterday's grid, should have seen it!
yes it does!
Good to see it's not just me :)
my new phantom: rancid
Help on pe 5/14 -- not shalom
arb, it's a spanish man's name

pe 5.14 - a mexican chap
ARB, I have a request. Could you please reload your icon, so it becomes bigger? I'd love to have a larger copy of it.
of course in here it means: The five of trumps in certain varieties of auction pitch. (b) A variety of auction pitch in which the five of trumps counts five
gracias
Well, Fran, I never knew that :)
Right - kitchen floor mopped.
night debb! i'll see you Sunday maybe!
Sprite -- I have tried to make it bigger, but so far, to no avail. I'll try again.
is that canasta fran ?
I seem to remember that all you need to do is to upload it again in your profile. DrG did something to make bigger icons that way.
don't know lynxxx, it was the dictionary.com def! :-)
the ro5/12 is also a proper name that has a different meaning
back for a time then the garden needs attention
hi mva
Same as Ca6/24
oh yeah, that one too
hi fran and everyone
Did my icon change?
yes matty, i see a lovely violet or deep blue dragon
definitely deep blue.
speaking of names, when I started playing months ago babble used to accept 'rita' - more than once as I remember. it doesn't now. does anyone know why.
Cool. Ain't Google grand? So...how's the morning been?
Help on pr 6/24 and pr 5/14 (the one before the high school dance)
i wondered about that myself lynxxx!
any clues for the last 2 ko 5-18 and 4-8
Pr5/14 = the high school dance with another vowel inserted Pr6/24: to get weapons before you need them.
thanks sprite, only had the pr5/14
Thank you Sprite. The game is keeping me sane, but my mind is not working so good
I can imagine, ARB. Just give a yell and we'll help.
sha, the ko4/8 is a type of statue, sounds like middle of an apple, the ko5/18 is it's plural, ends with two letters that sound like what you see with.
Fireworks! And well deserved today, with them ugly ks :)
yay sprite!!!!
congrats sprite!!
amazing sprite !
yay sprite!!

Congrats Sprite!
wtg sprite
yw sha
I think it is time to jump under the shower. Back in a bit ;)
Which lists are up (not quite ready for 'em yet, but I will be...)
haven't checked yet matty
Any idea what the 8s are like - are they real words?
one is a real compound word, the other two are chemical words, but not horrible ones
do you want the two letter clues?
Yes please!!
ro8/50, pe8/55 (plural of pe7/40), mo8/55 (plural of mo7/40)
Merci, Danke, Domo Arigato, Gracias ;)
the mo and pe are the chemicals, they have to do with sour agents.
thanks to sprite i have those!
Hi matty & fran
Right - got the sour words - thanks! Now the 'normal' word. Hi Dianne!
hi dianne!
any more clues for a person with no chemistry?
It's not basic, but...
I need help with ar5/12 - I have the helmet and the metal outfit - what am I missing?
MVA - they end with the second AC4.6
Thanks Dianne - I'd forgotten about American spellings ;)
lynxxx, thanks, ever so

See ya Pres!
later mrp!!
g'nite MRP

Fran: computers are like airplanes. Never open windows.
do you have a Mac sprite?
Wish I did! But I need a couple of programs that are not available for the Mac.
my computer only does whay my bh and daughter tells it to do!!
LOL! bh in Dutch is bra.
i'm learning Dutch now!!
Breast Holder?
LOL at Fran! Looking for the last eight...
or hanger?!
Exactly, Fran! Bustehouder.
LOL @ hanger!
HAHA
cool, a new word in a new language! love it lynxxx!
matty, sprites clue was what you see the whole time you are driving.
I still can't get that ar5/12 - anyone have a clue?
Dianne: Ar5/12 is like the reputed exclamation of Archimedes when, after long study, he discovered a method of detecting the amount of alloy mixed with the gold in the crown of the king of Syracuse. Only change the double vowel into A.
areka
Great clue, Sprite! I think I know what the first half of the compound eight is...looking for the second half.
Close, Fran.
i did it again!! this is not a good night for me!
matty: R4 + S4.
thanks sprite! i realized after typing in the wrong place that the points were lower!!
i didn't have that s4 right away, it's hiding sort of.
OH DUH!!! I didn't have the s4, but once I saw it - DOH!
sprite - thanks so much - that finished me off :)
that's how i felt matty!!
WTG Dianne!
are you done dianne?
Congrats Dianne.
congrats
Yes Fran - done
woohoo dianne!!!!!
Thanks matty & sprite.
and Fran
congrats dianne
thanks lynx
bbl, off to tame the garden
it's payback time - anyone need any clues?
I've got 97 words - I want three more before resorting to the lists...
nods
just went to the list dianne, still checking to see what i need
SORRY!
AND I already had it. SIGH
That was one, matty :) Refresh guys, for more purple.
at least yours was a real word matty!
cool sprite!
matty - do you have the ca6/24 that sounds like the name of a opera?
Nope...
*an opera
But I do now ;)
Thanks!
Cool icon, Sprite
do you have the ca5/10 that you row on the pond?
Dianne, you just hurt my husband's feelings! Paddle, not row. Rowing goes backwards! ;)
FIREWORKS
ty dianne
Do now...thanks to you, Dianne! I have 10 of the 29 Cs at teh top, and 2 of the ones at the bottom.

Congrats ARB!
sprite - you are soooo right!
Fantastic ARB
WTG ARB!
matty - 52 in a deck.
Lol Dianne, he is sooo touchy about that :) Couldn't resist.
congrats ARB
ac6/24 anyone?
is there a prize for finding the fish?
morning sha
hydra: highest C4 in the deck + greek for through
And the ko5 word? I've tried every permutation.
lynxxx: if you find both, you win the loaves!
hydra - top card + first 3 letters of personal journal.
The ko5 is the plural of the Ko4/8 that comes BEHIND it! Greek plural.
hydra, it ends with two letters that rhyme with what you see with
Dianne said a wo-ord, Dianne said a wo-ord ;)
if you find the fish you find 4 more words. and then pass me the fish for using a word !
and i just used another one - argh!
Can't get that Greek plural, Sprite. And still struggling with the c word. Will let you know when I've found it. Thanks for your help, everyone.
Sprite, I just reloaded my icon. Tell me what you see.
it worked arb!
Got the ac at last! Thanks.
YAYAYA. Yes Yes (Fist ounding air and all that)
Beautiful ARB, it worked! Thank you so much :)
pounding air
Got the ko. Whoopee!
It comes from a movie playbill -- there was a grade C minus movie with that title, I believe
hydra, which C-word are you looking for?
72 left - having a break - thanks for all the clues as I am sure you will all finish before I get back. ARB - thinking of you all over there, I really hope it all ends soon.
later lynxxx!
Right, I think I need to find a list. I'm just under halfway through...
Dianne - you said if you find the fish, you can find four more words - I've found an additional three words from the fish - to have done the fish, a person who does the fish, and a floor covering - what's the last?
plural matty of the floor covering.
DUH DUH DUH. Hit me withthe ca4/6 - ensure it's wet and smelly.
how about a da4/6 instead?
What is a da4/6 when it's at home? (I have a da4/6 but dont' know what it means)
its another fish, matty :P
Duh. Nice icon, Atalante.
I have an ar5/12 missing; I have 2 connected to warfare. Clue for the third?
ty :)
Phantom - apron.
hydra, first 3 letters of the ar4/4 + first two letters of feline.
hydra: highest C4 in the deck + greek for through
Well, ignore THAT one. So Sorry, wrong paste.
sprite had a much better clue, but i forgot it.
sprite, it was your AHA! clue
Thanks. Was working off wrong a as usual.
Ar5/12 is like the reputed exclamation of Archimedes when, after long study, he discovered a method of detecting the amount of alloy mixed with the gold in the crown of the king of Syracuse. Only change the double vowel into A.
If I only could learn to paste better, it would be nice ;)
Flippin' eck, sprite! Swallowed the Mythology encyclopaedia? Did he say it in the bath, or was that Diogenes?
It seems as if one particular colour is obviously the favourite
Lol, had to look it up to see who said it, actually :)
in the bath ....
argh, just realized i typed a word in the log earlier, i was talking about pr4/5 and said ca5/12!!!!
And yes, I think it was in the bath.
exwren, 4 out of 5 people that had a preference said purple!
in the bath (reputedly lol)
apparently...
mine is more lavender
I have to go, seems like there are other things than babble that deserve my attention. Happy hunting all, thanks for all the help. And ARB, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
later sprite! thanks for all the clues!
Bye, sprite. Thanks for your help.
cute exwren, mrp also had purple.

matty, decorate
change the last letter ...
Yep - that's the one - thanks (duh, duh and duh again)
lovely purple swirls atalante! you'd think today's theme was purple or something!
I've changed my pic to reflect the general purpleness of the day ....
Mine's kinda meant to be blue...but it looks more purpley. We're off to the pub shortly - to see Joe - my favourite 80 year old.
well I thought I'd follow along like a sheep ... baaaa!
i doubt you are a conformist atalante! but it does go well with the other icons!

Hello all. Have had my nose stuck in the grid for awhile and am stuck on the pe 4,6. I know there are several. it is the first pe 4,6. I think. Before the latin for feet.
pe8/55, plural of pe7/40, chemical compound, ends with ac4/6 (acetic or citric)
mo8/55, plural of mo7/40, another chemical compound ends the same as pe8/55.
don't have that yet merk!

Hiya pam!
ro8/50, what you see the whole time you are driving, compound word

What a goofy clue....
pe8/55, plural of pe7/40, chemical compound, ends with ac4/6 (acetic or citric)
thanks, Fran.
thanks Fran! That finishes the 8's.
mo8/55, plural of mo7/40, ends just like the pe words.
well it worked jai, i got it!

OMG, some of those motorbike riders have beauty therapists who so their eyebrows!! SHOCK/ HORROR... they should save themself the embarASSment and just keep their helmet on!
andree, having to do with a positively charged electrode (an6/24)

Oh, you mean in the puzzle! Duh! I get a fish for that!
it's a unit of measurement, peri, and like the chemical words, yes, stupidhead!
nice feather! now i know why you picked the colors you did for your house.
the cheap ones eat garbage, the expensive ones come from japan *keeps eye out for second fish*
heh, well i have about 3 favorite colors, green blue and purple, but green seems to be the one that shows up most in my decorating and clothes
last re5/12 anyone?
anyway feather, enough people have purple today, you will stand out!
those feathers are truly a tad brighter than i'd like, but what can you do!
hee, good point!
uh oh, gotta see why i'm being called ...."momeeee!"
one of the fish words will build another 3 words and other wont extend as far as I know.
no it doesn't fmitch.
false alarm
oh, good tip mitch - I just found the other fish. Which one shall we wallop with today?
Thanks Fran
well, i'm happy so far...first word i found was a 7 letter one
woohoo feather!
amanda we will probably need both by the end of the grid :)
do both fishes start with D
No peri 1 x d and 1 x c
thanks found them both
and dont forget to extend the c you get 2 x 6 and a 7 from it
mitch i have 3x6 off the c fish but not the 7...
thanks FMitch, found them too
plural rolin
well hmpf! so much for kissing a boo boo and making it better! daniel thwacked his hand on the table, was holding it out to me and making noises, i fussed a little, and kissed it....he then frowns and wipes his hand off on his shorts! where's the love i tell ya!
now i have
I keep seeing Ankh Morpork....
Oohh rolin I still have words to find!! the 7 is a plural
feather, a budding germ-phobic?
te6/21? either one, i'm not seeing any
lol, perhaps! he HATES to have his hands dirty...grass, sand, etc, holds them out to be wiped off. had to teach him how to wipe his hands together to wipe them off.
both start with the number after nine....
thank you rolin now I have 3 x 6
as long as he doesn't start washing his hands every few minutes!
lol, i know fran!
thanks jai, will work with that
wow, the Cs are not being kind to me yet
one ends with high card, the other with a "den" what we used to call a den in our house- *** room
jai, thanks, had that first one before you clued, but probably would have taken forever for that other one!!
My dictionary isn't working...when I click on the ?...do I need to exit and come back?
featherbee...my son also hated to have his hands (and face) dirty. he grew up to be an engineer who loves to design mechanical things. plus, he was always good at keeping his room clean!
It goes right up the side- zip....
ditto what fran said for those te's!
depends on the word chiley, some work, some don't
here's a dash of red for contrast!
there's hope, huh cliff? lol
Nice, Une!
there you go feather...an engineer!

I found a third fish!
thank you fmitch. i still get choked up when i look at his pic. he has surpassed every dream i had for him when he was growing up.
Oh wow amanda, what's the 1st letter?
it's another d
oh, the singer that did a duet with eminem?
hmmm, don't know Fran - it's a misspelled entrance
that was my next guess, didn't know that was a fish too.
ditto, fran
fran...the fish is spelt with a y on the end
just looked it up, in America it would be a wall-eyed perch
well you live and learn, esp in babble land!!!
the one I'm lookin' at rhymes with The Amazing Ra**
I'm still looking for the pe 4,6 ... I think the first in the list, after a Spanish boy's name and possibly before the Latin word for feet.
i guess it's an alt spelling then rolin
american vs english again...lol
merk, i have urinated in that spot
merk, is it the plural of foot?
that sounded bad, but i think you know what i mean!!
fran! LOL!
I was just laughing at that Fran!!
the foot pe4/6 comes before Fran's "accident"
last re5/12 anyone? it's my last word and then i can go to the bathroom then go to sleep!
and she had better go and clean it up now!
lol une!
Yuck! Thanks!
do you have the re5/12 editorial term?
Merk - how is the China tour going?
the re5/12 i have at the end is rushes
Une, is the editorial one the copy?
the editorial term comes right after that--you'd get it if you'd zip up and come back to the grid!
yes, amanda
then I've got that one
another phantom--rancid
is that the re + went fast? or is the one you're clueing before that?

Hey Babbler!!!!!!
tee hee! Heya! wow it's hot today!
hey Babbler, where have you been?
I'm still here, in case anyone is missing me!!!!!
Even hotter tomorrow!
and even hotterer the day after!
I agree Babbler, has someone moved the country a few thousand miles nearer the equator?
I've been right here, ExWren, but I've been poorly. : (
Hi all, hi mm ... BABBLER!! You are finally here -- I just added you to friends to I can view our theme log. I've been keeping an eye for you the past several days, but missed you.
global warming, Movieman. : / (someone tell that Bush)
hey ch1212! I'm usually logged in so people can see the themes. The only time I'm not is when I'm asleep.
Who, George or Kate?!!!!! LOL
Al Gore and a gazillion scientists have been trying to tell him, Babbler :)
Hi All....am back too.....can anyone please give me a clue for an6.......I just can't get it!
LOL!!! oh yeah, didn't think of Kate. ; D
Kate Bush? Is she still performing?
FIREWORKS!!!!
congrats, amanda!!
well done Amanda!!
Wooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Amanda!!!!!!!!!!!
flask - the an6 has to do with batteries and negative charges
absolutely she is, ch1212!! She released a fantastic album last year, called Aerial.
Oh WTG amanda
she did a song about a washing machine that's really funny!
She also did a weird song about a girl made of rubber a few years back.......
I must look for it. I like her. Ditto your icon, Babbler. CONGRATS amanda!
I don't know what they are Amanda.....:(
what song was that, Movieman? (she went even kookier in the 90s imho)
oh wait.... it's coming back to me.... hang on....
Rubberband Girl, Babbler, from her Red Shoes album.....
THAT'S it.! tsk, I knew that. ; )
flask - one of your n's is in the middle of the an6
Good afternoon all. Or good morning to our trans-Atlantic friends.
'lo Haz
hi Haz : )
And an equally good afternoon to you, Haz.....
Hi Haz...and anyone else who has just arrived!
Thank you - and now back to this grid. I left it this morning to get lunch under way. Lunch is over, dishes washing, time to get more words.....
Amanda there is only one N
I mean one of your n-words, flask
Been Babbling for a few hours so far today, and I STILL can't find those blasted 7's & 8's.......cluez plz?
Oooops!...sorry for being so stupid Amanda....:9
A 7 - me7/36 - one who threatens - Dennis?
:(
one of the 7's attaches to a motorcycle, and you might look at one of the 8's while riding
Good Sunday morning all. I've just writte a long email to Stid and feel buoyed up by the thought I might meet her soon. How's the grid today?
Hello hetty - some nice words so far.
And I'm keeping my 4 lighthouse icon a bit longer in honour of my children, who are the colours in my life
Flask, don't feel bad, I am stuck on the same word.
Amanda - wot does the 8 begin with?
thanks for that Jee.....am just gonna leave just now...and carry on elsewhere....lol
and to get the ugly 7-8 combos out of the way: for both, the root is non-base(s), one is prefixed "single", one is prefixed "for every"
It is frustrating when you think that you should be getting it, but just can't see it.
Oh, tell me about it!
Gets me down sometimes!!
Yeah, but don't forget to have fun while you are playing....Keep trying:)
the 8 begins with r, MM. For the an6, there is a cath*** and an an***, then make it an adjective
Oh I do Jee.....I love words!
i am having trouble with the an6 too...
hi....i like amanda's clue for the an6, but don't geet the ugly 7-8 combos clue at all...
all I know about batteries is that there is a positive and a negative!!!
Still having problems with that 8, amanda, what's the alpha/numeric value plz?
an + round vowel + short name for Richard
i am not sure if the cath*** is a religion or a medical thing
ro8/50 - compound word
thanks!
thanks...got that!
the cath***---*** you learned about iin poetry, emusing
Got it at last, ty Amanda......
Jee if you were closer I would kiss you!!!!.....THANKS!!!..and thankyou Amanda for your patience!
it's an electrical thing associated with the old tubs, or tri***s....
take the ** and add the end of the cath---religion
Thanks Amanda for all of your hard work on the an word that stumped many of us.
what jee said :)
How about beginning with a bang? ac4/6 please? Have the other ac's
Yep....it was a hard one!!
ac4/6 - opposite of alkaline
no thanks necessary - it's a silly word anyway!
Finally found the 'n' word now too.
or (for the ac4/6) passed a test with flying colors (there are 2 of them)
Must get ready for church. Back later -- have fun all!
me too Jee!!!.....
bye ch1212
Thanks is always necessary for a job well done and you were committed to helping us through it all...
I have that one, thanks HGaz. It's the other please. You know you like adventuring with me----
amanda has clued it nicely below - passed a test with flying colours
Found it, ta. Amanda you passed the test---
well, ok then *blushes*
I promise not to trump you amanda. LOL
I'm off soon (so go on and trump, Hetty :)!) - any more clues before I leave?

so now you are a person of leisure for a couple of days oggy. Any plans? or just sitting and babbling?
only 1day stid just no work tomorrow.
I hate that sometimes a foreign word is in the grid -- I have to try every word I recognize, even the Klingon ones just to be sure!
i intend to do as little as possible.
yes, but the ones you see that you think should be there, aren't!
I don't mind the welsh instrument... I like crwth! but the rest -- bah humbug!
good for you oggy! :-)
Hi Dorens....how are you enjoying having your new Grand-daughter?
missiing her, thanks flask...haven't seen her since last sunday, but willbe there next sunday. also, thanks to digital cameras, etc... i am getting updates...thanks for asking

Good Morning! This grid make me want Krispy Kremes! Yum...
Now I'm seeing phantomdonuts
good morning babblephish!
my last T words is the second TE 6/21 that comes off the bottom T... help please?
stid- male singer? and number after 9 and highest card
or number after 9 and what we used to call the den in our house
Ooops male singer was only a te5
hmm. that last is probably what I need *looking*
Stid, maintain the te*** of your ways

Haz, assuming you're done, may I have the SI 7/36 please? It's my last S then I can go to breakfast.
go smiley go!
wesnurse
I'm fine thanks, periwinkle. 76 words left to find and just ploughing through. I'm remembering that it's a race to clue you before you find the word!!
heat must be melting the lines.. I keep getting disconnected.. will try changing default connection..bah!
stid, si7 - compound word, si4/5 and what you drive
si7 - used to be attached to motorbikes to provide additional passenger space
Good afternoon Haz.
oh! thanks HAz!
Hello FMitch - how is the grid progressing for you?
hi, FMitch.. all done?
Hey Aloy - still got 34 to go, how are you doing?
any clues please for ca6/21,,,ca6/24....and ca6/27....am stuck?
hi, clue please for ce6,24
I reckon that this grid is harder than yesterday's. What do you think?
I agree, Haz
flask, ca6/24 is the woman's name that has fruit on her head.
you're 10 ahead of me, FMitch.. but I'm chugging along as long as I don't get disconnected again..
Haz I am going to finish but I am at the stage where I am wishing I hadn't started.
me, too, haz
ca6/21 - mode of transport plus what fishermen use to catch fish, or what Ena Sharples wore permanently
Haz, you just reminded me of courting days--on Alan's motorbike. Hi there every else one
Yesterdays was bigger......but lots of words easily found.....
ooh, I just found the ca6/27 fly..
ca6/27 - past tense of ca4/6 - a fish or a word meaning to complain.
Ena! Really Haz! I thought that was a hairnet?
Haz, who is Ena Sharples
Another ca6/24 and 7/36= rug/s
down to 100....
Tom is making pancakes, so I am using this to distract me until they are ready...
peri, Ena Sharples is oneof the originals on Coronation Street. I had an aunt just like her
Ena Sharples - one of the original cast members of Coronation Street. A woman of stern looks and a way with words!
hi, clue please for ce6,24
I am assuming that is a TV show, don't think we have it here in the US
LOL Haz, does Ena Sharples translate over continents?
Thanks Jee and Haz...got them!
hetty - put together what Ena wore at the end of the mode of transport and you get ca6/21 (French word)
Haz, I inadvertantly used a Word, and I apologize--my hunch was right after all. Dear old Ena
Aloy - chugging along is about my pace too on a Sunday afternoon/evening
--and I'd found it already even
Fmitch - I don't know whether Ena could be translated adequately. I loved Victoria Wood's interpretation of the Coronation Street snug.
How about the mo8 and pe8? I haven't seen any clues for these yet.
Oh yes - classic moments Haz!
think I'm going to learn some "K" words today. (-:
have no idea what Ena wore and not able to find that word
Sorry Jee...not done them yet!
okay, kid has a game he wants to play with me, so I am off still at 100 despite my best monkeys, so it's time anyway! :-) see you later
peri - it's on the end of what use to access babble. inter***
hi, clue please for ce6,24
only have ce4/6....no other ce's. sorry
ce6/24 - looks like Kermit the frog, but spelt differently!
thanks!!
Haz, thanks, I had tried to make a word with the O in the middle, didn't think to try it withou the O
yay, i have been stuck on that
Glad to help!
How about ac6/24 please?
ac6/24 - impossible tennis serve followed by spanish day
thats the one I can't get at all...Jee!!
Great clue, thanks Haz
afternoon all
Flask - did that work for you?
I am stuck on the or 5 /12 help please
have no AR words, clues appreciated
no...sorry Haz!
Flask, add two vowels to the previous word.
ar 5/12 what a knight wears
Sheryl- o+ what you do with a book
ty peri
yw Sgeryl
meant Sheryl
length X width = ar4, then add vowel for ar5
ac6/24 - impossible to return tennis serve (first three letters) or a high scoring card, or someone who is very good at something. Follow that with the first three letters of what Samuel Pepys was famous for writing.
Sheryl thanks
thanks JeeWhiz
ar5/12 is like tree day with different consonant in middle
ty, Haz.. I needed that one. In the last 10-12 min.. have been disconnected three times. getting frustrated, so if it continues I will have to work offline for a while..
Jee, just found that one, thanks
other ar5/12 ends in 3 letter word
Jee, don't have that one, clue please
medieval light helmet with a neck guard and movable visor=ar5/12
or body part plus alien initials
Jee, found it with your last clue, thanks
still missing an ara5/12
Jee....still can't get that ac/6
I am missing the other ar5/12 myself
hi all
Hi, nrkii
oh no, just joining with 3 left and my first question was going to be about AR 5/12 LOL
Hi nrkii
i am not doing bad not near near as good as u all but 44 words 363 pts by myself no clues
Flask, take the first ac4/6 and add two vowels....eye and aye
hi nrkii...
first ca6/27
peri, complained, or past tense of fish
ah, not first, hang on
c + put two and two together + to be, third person singular
I give up 2 x de to find the de6/24 and the de6/27 - someone take pity on me please!!!
nrkii, do you have the pe8 and the mo8 please?
help with or 5/12?
o + what you do with book
de6/27 - take the curl out of your hair
both have to do with the ac 4/6 jee
yay, one left
de6/24 - cease to have regard for someone, or fail to look after them
FMitch: if you straighten your hair, you de**** it by undoing what the beautician did
Got it Jee!!!!...thanks!!!
thanks nrkii
okay, going back to monkey typing that ar 5/12...
2nd ca5/14
nrkii - which one do you need?
Oh thanks so much for the de6/28 Haz and Aloy would not have seen that one at all
last ar5/12, Haz
ca 5/14 = gang, whole host of people (zealots)

nrkii, have that one too
last ar5/12 - American spelling of what knights wore for protection (for peri)
have what you have nrkii
pr6/24 clue, anyone? It's the 2nd pr on the list.
Do you have ar5/12 - passionate regard for someone
glad you found it, FMitch..
have that one haz
Haz, have that one too,
i have all but the first ar 4 5/12
yes, have that too
its one of the last three
just got it... saw haz's clue

an earlier clue for that ar had something to do with palm trees. didn't get it.
By a process of elimation - verb form of 'to be' plus state symbol for where Los Angeles is to be found
third person plulral to be + abbr. for the golden state
and that's fireworks for me
Dorens and Haz, thanks, that was the one

Thanks, nrkii
Those de6's are horrid but got there in the end.
nrkii, tried several times but unable to access the site :(
back :) how many de6s are there, FM?
fmitch, between the de 6 and the pre 6 and 7 and the re words, we have some horrid stuff going on
i'm feeling less generous towards this grid with every minute....
peri, did you past the whole url in? it went over two lines, so might have been cut off...
I gave up on the ca's. Too many. I've gone to the end and am working backwards.
Haz, glad I'm not the only one -- I was disgusted with it too
not sure how to past things, just tried typing in the words in Google.
oh, I don't think that will work... if you type it in, type it in the address bar... http://journey-woman.blogspot.com
LOL nrkii - the m's are even worse!!!! I have r's p's and t's left to find (31 words to go) and argh
if you can't get to it, I'll see if I can grab it
one of you might take pity on me, then...re the ca's..i have all but the 7/36
It's just word after unconnected word. Except for a few plurals.
ca 7 36 is plural of ca 6/24 rugs
ca7/36 - a plural for the ca6/24 under your feet
just pl the thing on the floor, dorens
now, that was dumb of me....haven't missed a plural iin a while...thanks all
Mind you it is a good grid for a Sunday if you don't have to be doing anything else!!!!
oh, but I have so so so so much to do today...
10 more minutes and I have to go
IS there anything else but Babble, FMitch.. heehee
I suppose so, but I love the grids where you can build the words and get sequences going.
Not on this lovely Sunday evening Aloy - it's babble all the way.
how many de6s are there, please???
Yes HAz Im with you on that you find a root word and suddenly can go off at tantents all over.
nrkii, found it, must be dyslexic, kept typing in women when I should have been typing woman, neat. I loved Crayola crayons as a kid too. Thanks for including me in your story.
nrkii, before you go, there is one thing I have to say to you. HAVE GOOD DAY
Just 2 Atalante - sorry to neglect you
Ata just the 2

Hello Haz (sorry)
You're welcome periwinkle. I feel the need for coffee.....
any last minute clues?
Hello Charm - I thought it was for me anyway!
hi, charm!
Hi Aloyisius - were you lurking?
Still struggling with the ca's --between ca4/9 and ca4/6 there lurk a ca4 and a ca5--help?
yes and no, charm... I have been having internet connection problems, a real annoyance.. so I'm babbling on and off.. right now (cross my fingers)... all is well..
Charm, how come you use a verb that's in my mind? Psychic?
if you hurt you leg you might need to use a ca** when you walk (or christmas candy = candy ca**)
and if you want to get down the river fast, use a motor boat, not a ca***
yup, another of my doodles, though I've just changed it to yet another one LOL
Thanks nrkii. And I use one all the time--tsk tsk
Hetty - of the many adjectives thrown at me, psychic is not among them! lol
Aloy, if we can only babble on and off in real life....
okay, gotta run for now
bye all
(-: Happy thought..
bye, nrkii... see you next time.
bye nrkii
First pr 7/36, anyone? I've got the second.
lol, I don't have either!
Thanks, nrkii, found the boat as soon as found the stick!Bye now. Be good
not sure if this is the 1st pr7/36 = before + Indy 500 (or Belmont or Kentucy Derby)
thanks, charm... one down..
Oh, brilliant. Thanks Charm.
what's the 2nd, hydra?
The second is what you do to push sales of a record, a book...
fish please; I took at least 5 mins to find the 1st ke!
thanks, hydra!
wow, thanks, hydra... had the first part of it, but didn't follow through.. (what else is new?) (-:
Yr welcome!
ko5 please?
Ko + first letters of dried up grape
thanks, Aloy!
Good clue, Aloyisius. I was tying myself in knots trying to think of one
yw: I am working on the one right before that.. looking, looking..
promote
OH NO
i mean, it is only four letters, how hard could it be?
ko4/8 = like jo** of Arc.
So very sorry
found it, thanks
not to worry, chiley.
I've done it several times, chiley.
fifty lashes with a wet noodle, chiley
I accept
then you are forgiven...
Got really excited there chiley and realised I already had the word!!!
lol FMitch.. 22 left for me, how goes it for you?
Babble is such fun when there's a really good crowd of Babblers on line, such as all of you!
too funny FMitch
Ground to a holt with 30 still boohoo!! You are so right hydra
I've still got 72 to find. :(((
here's some ice water, FMitch, with a twist of lemon for you.. not as good as your champagne, but it might help..
ha! i'm at 112---stopped to look at the latest batch of baby pictures, then needed to call my son to schmooze about her
Are you an otter, FMitch? (Holt...)
Good reason to stop, Dorens.
If I were I would live in Monterey Bay hydra. Unfortunately its my deteriorating spelling.
Is there someone else wrestling with the ca's can help me with the firs ca6/24/
You'll have to explain that to this Brit, FMitch.
back again, any clues for kr5/20? pls
hah, found the kr5/12.. weird, kr**** word.. like a snake or a burglar moves..
1st ca6/24 = ca**** Miranda?
hetty, I think that's a vehicle plus the males of the species
you wouldn't want to live in Monterey Bay if you were an otter - tourists staring at you all day! :P
Ice water Aloy? Don't you have anything with a bit of a kick to it in your neck of the woods?
Like us brits trying to explain Ena Sharples, FMitch
The first ca6/24 is the name of an opera or could be used to describe males who like autos.
should have been kr***y
lol... not before 5pm.. are you there yet? If so, I'll share a rum and coke!
hi everyone!
Monterey Bay is wonderful place south of San Fransisco and I have great memories of wathcing sea otters playing and opening clams in the sea.
need help with the second te6... thanks...
thanks, Haz and hydra. Idiscounted the word as being a proper noun--
welcome, chyna..
Monterey Bay really is wonderful. Went to the aquarium last year - just amazing
hi aloy..
thanks aloyisius
Did you go to the aquarioum Ata?
Still trying to get that cup of coffee made. Back shortly.
back. breakfast consumed and waiting for my tea to cool. clue on the AN 6 please?
We have river otters here on the beaches, but for sea otters (hunted almost to exrtinction) you have to go to the Pacific--beyond the wester isles
Hi, again!
yw, MVA..
I think this grid is going to be the death of me. -- Hey everyone.
yes - amazing! Being a marine bio girl by trade, I love aquaria!
an + vowel + shortened form of Richard = an6
an6 = a charged electron, adj.
hetty -- mother says "yes" will email you later.
finished the ding dong K's, and I did indeed learn some new words!
How is that k word a word, jeepers...
oh electric eel please! LOL
an6, Stid b3egins like "anodine"(NOT a word!) but ends withbthe adjectival two letters
thanks charm
lo, euterpe... it is a challenge..
Hetty - Otters are a rare species the world over I think these days
Hey, stid
-- "I fought the grid and the grid won."
and thanks for mom's message. Rhymes with melodic (the way brits say it)
got it! thanks all!
the an6/24 that is.
(-: now I'm going to have that in my head, euterpe!
no6/24 please?
otters are being reintroduced in various places in the UK - there's been a program down in Devon recently
Ata - I spent a week in and around Monterey a while ago before I started a 5 week work stint, I will never forget it.
hi, clu, please de 6, 27 (the second de6)
Viking like is no6
okay, lovely cluers -- (and clewers) AC 6/24?
thnx, Jee.. I needed that!
de- chemically curl your hair?
thanks, JeeWhiz.
Stid, previous word plus two vowels.
Atalante -- pretty pretty Atalante! colored pencils?
thanks!!
thanks Jee!
ac6 = ac* of spades + sp. for day.
Emusing, what is the other de6 please.
I fought with none , for none was worth my strife/Nature I loved, and next to Nature/ Art/ I warmed both hands before the fire of life/ It sinks, and I am ready to depart
I liked the previous clue for ac6/24: unreturnable serve plus spanish for day
to not ca** any more
Aloy - just picked up on your earlier post it is almost 6.30pm here now
de + ca 4/5
That's for you, Fmitch
another weird word
yup, pencil :)
That has to do with feelings.
oh, sorry, FMitch.. I could have served the R+C... here you go, with lots of ice and good PR rum
thanks
it's a measurement--10 of the 3-tletter a-word...
I like colored pencils. A cousin draws gorgeous things -- I need to restock my supply.
hetty that is lovely, sounds like it could have been written a long time ago.
do6/24?
Cheers Aloy , phew that is a good mix!!
That's interesting, pam. I'd never heard of it.
do6/24 = one who do4/6 the one before it.
do6/24 - extend the do4/6 - an anagram of the poking pr4/6
well, sip it slowly or you may never finish this grid!
Thanks Charm....
me, either, euterpe. But I have an "illness:" every word with which I am not familiar, I look up. I don't remember them from grid to grid, necessarily, but on that day, i look them up...
I love pencil. Well, *my* pencils. I only love *my* pencils LOL, I'm insanely protective of them. But I love the result them give, even though I'm trying to persuade myself I like gouache better
It was. Your mentioning strife brought it out. William Savage Landor
Never mind the anagram - it's pr4/6 backwards with an ending for the do6
yw
hic...!!
I must look that up hetty - thank you
I look up quite a few of them, but I just assumed that was another strange word. That it meant what it looked like.
FMitch FMitch FMitch. can we not take you anywhere????
This grid would drive anyone to drink.
I'm confounded by the or5 and 6.
But it couldn't MAKE one drink. Only fellow babblers can do that
or5/12 - what the impoverished author would say to an editor about her book
hetty, I wish I were as word-oriented as you are -- and my Granny. But alas! I cannot remember from one sentence to the next what was said/written (though I get the sense of things)
too funny Haz!
So the clue worked? And plural for the or6
yes, Haz. thanks.
sorry Charm It's aloys fault - he mixed the drinks! Can i have another one Aloy the first was yummy.
ooh, FMitch.. that's strong stuff... ok... here you go, but SLOWLY in this heat!
okay, down to 93, tea is drinkable and packing awaits. (still -- again -- more) back later when it's too hot to work.
How about ec6/21?
ec6/21 - add the ca5/12 to e
a virtual grocery container on wheels?
thank you Aloy, I will sip this one whilst I look for the 30 words that are STILL eluding me!!!

I'm down to 13 , but need another glass of ice water..

I have the mushroom. It's the next titbit
thanks, lol
you mean the 4/5?
thanks HAZ....I got it
thanks HAZ....I got it
like nothing, but with a c instead
So I see!
The irst is the mushroom (see below)--like pancake minus the "r"
no, i have that...there is one before it, no?
That's the one i have too--mushroom and nothing. Middle one?
maybe i'm wrong...i have it that the mushroom IS the middle one, and i'm going nuts trying to find one before it
ce4/6 the first - first letters of the name of the late Princess of Wales.
thankshaz
It can then be pluralised for ce5/14
ant that's the 5/14 as well
now we need the 6/24?
that ce nothing is yet another fish for this grid.... hmmm
ce6/24 sounds like the muppet frog
thanks jee
ce6/24 I clued previously as looking like Kermit the frog, but spelled differently
oh boy it's hot out here
you're supposed to be INSIDE< feather, not out there

its 92 degrees in connecticut
Haz, I've monkeyed adding four ca's to an "e" and nothing works
ed4/5 - repeat the consonant and add a vowel
Thanks Haz...I should have been able to monkey that, but couldn't
ec6 - e plus ca5/12 - the whole becomes a card game. ca5/12 French for card
Hetty, do you ever order a la ca***?
en5 - begins a great big word.
Got it thanks again Haz.
You're welcome Jee Whiz
Of course. Do it all thetime (the french card game/order food) thing:just hadn't persevered through my list far enough. Thanks
Glad you got there, hetty.

Thanks! I was sure I had typed every conceivable combination three times, but apparently not!
There's also a plural.

Oh, have fun, stid!
mo, it ends with the middle 4 letters of a sibling not a brother
that is super Vi! I think having a garden is the best thing in the world -- along with babbling and kids, no ranking intended in that list!
pe 5/20?
that sounds smart stim - they'll be so tired they won't remember moviing
ko5,18 please please
pe5/20 - orange pe--- kind of black tea
New England has such a short growing season though -- I suppose you plant a lot more annuals there. Do you have a sheltered spot for perennials?
oh! what I am drinking right now in fact... good clues, Vi.
Thanks vicuna
okay, this is going to be a fish -- AR 4/4?
Oh, there are plenty of perennials that do well here. I try to do mostly perennials because I hate having to let things die and then buy new each year. I favor yellow, orange and red flowers, so we have loads of daylilies and rudbeckia. I'm also trying some of the new non-pink coneflowers.
thank you all...i have the mo7 now.....it obviously is an American word111
or5 and 6?
I don't think so, mo. I think It is used by Jane Austen.
Hey, don't blame it on Americans, I think it is French.
o + what you do with a book
lol jee
I am the same way Vicuna! Have you tried crocosmia? I have a wonderful glowing red one called "Lucifer" that my mother in law gave me. A nice shape with all the rounder flowers.
or5 -mountain nymph, ends with what you do to with a book
i always miss that one, ty jee
pr6/24?
And a lot of shrubs as well, to give structure and color in the gray months. I have a witchhazel that I got this last Spring. can hardly wait for this winter when it blooms!
I ad5/12 crocosmia. Most of them are not quite hardy in my zone, but there are a few varieties. I had some once, but they have never been very strong for me.
stid - your garden must be beautiful
We have rhododendrons like crazy around here, and forsythia.
stid - AR4.4.ends in 1st vowel - I couldn't see it either
pr6/24 - to provide with weapons ahead of time
kr5.20 pls
I like my garden -- it has what I call "moments" of beauty. a spot here, a corner there, which look "just right" at any given time. And, at any given time, at least half the garden looks completely wild and neglected... LOL
vicuna, can you clue me differently if possible...that clue doesn't help me.
never mind, it just finally jumped in my head.
thanks lynxxx... oh gee whillikers!
kr5/20 - misspelling of how snakes and insects and cat burglers get around
lynx, kr 5/20 sounds like it should start with cr instead.
ty vicuna
I have always wanted to try the blue himalayan poppies, which supposedly do well only in the Pacific northwest in the US.
AR 5.12 pls
(Of course, they're probably expensive, too. I never look at the prices when fantasizing!)
those blue poppies are magnificent !
um. I have seen them, but haven't tried them. I have been in serious "if it's fussy I won't try" mode. :-)
ar5/12 - passion
Yes, I'm the same when it comes to the real garden. But I do like looking at the pretty pictures in magazines and catalogues! :)
ty - saw it that time !
oh yes! my new "horticulture" magazine just arrived and am taking it to read on the ferry. Also haunt the library's garden and landscaping collections... and watch every gardening show our TV gets!
AR 5/10?
Okay. Remember how I was saying 'goodbye" about a million years ago? Well, my daughter tells me that now is the time when we need to dance, so I must delay no longer. Goodbye. (and this time I really REALLY mean it.)
2nd vowel onto AR4.4 stid
Stid, Alison is home and just called me--she hopes you will connect Monday evening.
urg. A latin plural. pesci please!
re 6/21
please :)
yes, we will call her tomorrow evening hetty.
im back, been babysitting.
P.S. Stid, I gave her your website address
thanks so much Vicuna, and enjoy your day! see you when I get home.
pr7/36 anyone pleeeease
hursh--re-weave a chair
okay hetty! hi oggy!
mo I do not have that one, sorry...
pr7 advertise, market
mo--to put something forth, or give a better job
Are you getting excited Stid? I'm getting excited about your getting excited.
or pr7 prefix meaning before + running event
Now to work.
reweave a chair, eh... hmmm
LOL hetty -- yes, I am excited. and nervous. I really don't like to travel. I find it unnerving... but the promise of a lovely friend and a lovely garden can make even me take a few risks.
thanks, Jee--did not see that...still stumped by the mo 6
ooh i get it
pre7/36...the 1st one i meant....got the 2nd one ...thanks for the clues
hey vi i think you used a word before i just found it now :)
okay, down to 80, need to run out and get a couple more items for our trip (and preload mother's car with our bags and games...) will be back on this evening to finish.
oh yes!! thank you
see you later stid
later...
well that's me done thank goodness. see y'all later :)
bye stid
hooray hurshy
speaking of the prefix 'pre' meaning before, I just asked my beloved to explain why the word 'present' means NOW and not 'before', and for that matter, the word 'present' (to present something) is also NOW. He explained the latter from the Latin 'scind' (understanding) but not the one meaning here and now. Any takers? I'm just puzzled...
cera
sorry - again
how about the re5/12 that comes between the two re 6 words?
never mind, got it
missed your win hursh - CONGRATULATIONS
present (adj.) Look up present at Dictionary.com c.1303, "existing at the time," from O.Fr. present (11c.), from L. præsentem (nom. præsens) "present, immediate, prompt," from prp. of præesse "be before (someone or something), be at hand," from præ- "before" + esse "to be." Meaning "being there" is from 1340. As a grammatical tense, recorded from 1388. Presently is c.1380 as "immediately," but by 1566 it had relaxed into "sooner or later." Present-day "contemporary" is attested from 1887.
can anyone clue the re6/21 ?
I had just taken down my Oxford and found that same entry, Atalante .Snap!
great minds think alike :D
good day folks!
ko5/18 and kr5/20 anyone please?
AHHH... Atalante, that makes sense -- the 'prae' as 'to be.' And it's latin in origin! I shall give my darling husband a bit of a bad time because he studied Latin quite extensively. Thank-you!!
RE 6.21 - reweave a chair seat
ch12--wanted you to know I tried, but you know how speed and I do not agree.
hiya evan
yes - its a rather nice etymology, isn't it!!
hey debbin
{{{ Miss Hetty }}} and to you too atalante -- thanks again!
now if only i knew how to weave a chair seat lol
but ch12, "prae" means "before", not "be". . . simplified in modern spelling to "pre"
I shall re-read Atalante's search and look it up too. Thank-you for the correction! :)
I got it from here - I love this site: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?te rm=present
bonkler -- the thin strips in a woven chair are known by the same word as the striped things children eat around the holidays... candy ca**s
and in my experience one has to be careful about correcting husbands. When we were i school way back before the flood we had to answer "Present!" to roll call
thanks, look at me learning on my day off!
rather like presenting arms, don't you think?
:D Oh Miss Hetty, your comment is priceless and so true! And I do remember saying 'present' in school.
*grins at bonkler* and why are you inside on this lovely blue-sky day? I am about to head out... watch me closing the laptop.... walking away.... out the door... will you miss me while I'm gone? LOL
My beloved just read this chat over my shoulder and is busy chuckling.
recovering from a monster migrain yesterday, laying low today
Okay who believes stidmama is actually going outside? :D
Now for the real stuff--I have one elusive mo to be clued on--mo4/9--between the opp. of ancients and the single non-alkali
thats awful bonk - hope you feel better
I'm hunting, Miss Hetty...
thanks debb, feel kind of hung over and thick in the head.
Oh, it's mo + high scoring letter + 2nd vowel
hetty is it the word that arises from a cigarette, minus the initial s?
mo 4/9 - means dull person or an old horse
oh bonk, I'm sorry about your discomfort. Someone should have a special sac to toss babblers in when they are sik--or is that a cultural idiosyncracy?
All I can think of ch12 is "nag" (I'm good at it)--maybe if i monkey for a while--
you're right ch, still here... bonkler, may you be better soon. Don't babble so much you get a relapse... now I really am going. *poof*
really check the "who's online..."
yup i'm off for a snooze. have fun all.
mo 4/9 -- think of when someone tells you somthing funny with a punchline, they told you a j***. Now change the first letter.
Thanks, ch1212--found it from your kind hints. Not a word i use, whereas idio*******. . .
please help!!! re6/24 and re7/36...i assume they are related?
mo, when you attend a wedding, afterwards there is a re******* -- drop the last three letters... then plural
ch1212..thank you for agreat clue

can you help with the ko5/18 and kr5/20 please?
Just getting to those myself, mo.
thanks ch1212
ko5/18 looks like that coutry that just let off miiles (north) but the closing 2 vowels are first and third
that should be missiles--even my fingers hate the word
the ko 5/20 is like "into your house we will cr*** but change the first letter. Thanks, Miss Hetty!
kr5/20 is an undesirable person-- a "cr***" with his initial letter changed to "k"

thanks. ch--don't know how i couldhave missed it...worked in E. ORange school district for 15 years...major term in inner city schools....mentioned almost daily
grazie, ch! i looked earlier, with no succeess
It's always the obvious ones for me, dorens :)
prego, pam
I think there was a clue for a word containing the middle letters of the non-brother sibling--that eludes me...

May - that's my no means a large grid! LOL.
*by.
I'm off to get a glass of wine to improve my spelling. :-))
lol enjoy jacula
im going to need some matchsticks
stuck in the dreaded re's.....the bad si** effect of having r's and e's in the grid
Good evening all. I have been working on and off all day, but have just got the fireworks! Hooray for me!
yay wren!!!
WELL DONE WRENNIE!
HHOOOORAY wren
yay, wren!
The re's were not as bad as the p's today
May - Get the matchsticks then. You can do it! On the prolonged Fri-Sat return home the 1770 miles from Crete, my chap and I were awake for over 40 hours.
good dto know...i've done the p's so i guess i can do the damned re's
doing bathtime and bedtime, bbl
see ya feather
Once the fireworks get going, I am loathe to turn them off!
Wren - LOL.
Congrat ExWren! Clue please for the ro 5/12 that follows the pural of what holds curtains up?
wherefore are thou, ch?
Superb clue dorens!!
ch - Juliet's fella.
after all your wonderful clues, ch, I'm glad to oblige
But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun! Okay. I'll be quiet now. :)
lol
Carry on ch! I love that play.
"T'was the nightingale and not the lark that pierced the fearful hollow of thine ear..."
For some unknown reason I memorized both parts of the balcony scene when I was in Junior High, and it has stayed with me ever since.
Why Jacula! I'm so impressed!
Ch - I did what you did, re the memorising. LOL.
LOL!
Believe me love,it was the nigtingale
(laughing) Oh Miss Hetty, I completely believe that you would have it memorized too, with your background!
if my daughter goes out to a bar, and they have to ask for her id twice, does that not mean that they must reca** her?
and Juliet would spell it correctly. Please someone, have you noticed a double enry in Lickety's list for the pe4/6? At least I THINK that must explain my problem--
and why is that not a word? because I need the second re 6/24 and it would fit perfectly there
for that matter, if Noah had found dry land and gotten all the animals off the boat, and then the waters had risen, wouldn't he have had to re*** them?
Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven, Having some business, do entreat her eyes To twinkle in their spheres till they return ...
dorens = re****acle (like a trash basket or an inbox)
And as I mentioned before, if I decide to change my floor coverings, why is re + ca 6/24 not a word?
"It was the lark, the herald of the morn..."
no, hetty there are two pe 4/5's in a row...which do you have?
Oh, this IS fun!:-))
ahhhhhh nrkii solves the problem...thanks
Did yiou know that many of the words given to Julkt in the Folio are also given to Cleopatra vis-a-vis Antony?
Oh, speak again, bright angel! for thou art as glorious to this night, being o'er my head as is a winged messenger of heaven :D
I still say it's a good thing for Noah he didn't have to re*** all those animals!
Thanks Dorens. I have the plural of first syllable of pe*ant
Hetty - No, I didn't. I should do though, since I studied one for 'O' level and the other for 'A' level.
Really, Miss Hetty? I did not realize that. What a wonderful piece of Shakespearean trivia
re + ca6/24 most definitely IS a word-in real life
let me pe** at my list and see, hetty
okay, last clue please ... I need the te 5/12 (fishable, I'm certain)
oh, no, i lmade a mistake. and laughed so hard I almost pe**
okay, must go tend to blog... update my notes on Fluorescent Magenta, Girl of Distinction...
ch, i'll slap you llightly so it won't leave a tr***
Dorens - thanks for that pe clue! LOL.
ch, indian tent
nrkii - see you soon.
yw, jacula
bye nrk and thanks
(exit stage left)
Yup "Give me my Antony/ And wh he dies, take him and cut him out in little stars and he will make the face of Heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night!" My guess is that the sme boy actor played both Juliet and Cleo
ch - te5/12 - Red Indian's tent?
ah, thank you nrkii! That's me finished, and now I'm late for dinner and must dash --- later!
yayyyyyy ch
i'm down to one now
One last note: That you for that quote, Miss Hetty -- I will look up that play too. Bye all
Hetty - goodness, you're right! I wonder why my teachers never pointed that out?
and most fittingly...it's the last RE
bye, ch!
70 words still to find here.
50 here
go jac, you'll get 'em
Dorens - I'll certainly try! It's amazing how a 2 week break slows you down though. BRB - son just arriving home from cinema.
Thanks, dorens. Must be my subconscious shutting out all these pee words on account of my op.
i think so....how are you feelling today, btw?
every day and in every way better and better, dear friend
glad to hear it....thought o making a joke out of it with the clue, but didn't have the heart
do you have the final re word, i could use a clue to put me out of my misery
ahh... i think i have it
