she isn't online much. Or not chatting perhaps.
nite muse
ok - I did not se her online since our meet at Schiphol
wow - the news just said it was 119 today
seems lucky was visiting her mother in France recently?
I saw her once since then. School did not go okay. Hope she is okay herself.
oh debb-- that's just insane.
isnt it? good god - 111 in beverly hills.
stid -- nice shot of matt!
thanks Jill!
that was what she had said - whe was planing a trip to F in summer - but sprite & I met her at Schiphol in April and did not see her since
it was 108 in portland yesterday, that's unheard of!
wow debb - that's crazy
lucky has an email listed in her profile...
I can never see what Fahrenheit is in degrees Celsius.
On my deck, in the sun, it was 100 this afternoon
that's just crazy, debb - froelica, too! we've cooled off a little here in the east.
and i just saw the inconvenient truth - makes you think!
It was 100 in downtown Olympia yesterday -- about 38 C.
X degrees F = X/1.8 - 32 deg Celsius
my thoughts exactly debbinla
it's about 48 sprite
anyone need any clues before I go?
sprite, 100 is about 38C
saphyre - the two no 6 please?
skim milk is No 6/27
I am so clueless saphyre! maybe tomorrow when I can think again...
if you don't like a sports team you are a no* 6/27
Thanks. That's pretty hot. It's been about 35 degrees Celsius here in Holland for a while, which is very hot for here. And very humid.
Other landmarks - 4C is 40F, 16 is 61, 28 is 82.
i hate humidity!! my butt's stickin to the chair right now, and i ain't happy
saphyre - if you don't like a team you are a no6/27

oh, right, duh. whatever.
that fo5/18 is tricky
i know! i keep trying to find ways of not touching ANYTHNG except what's already clothed and its a lot more difficult than you'd think
This morning it is a little less hot, though very humid. We had rain and thunder yesterday. Not enough to make a real difference, alas.
hehe stid
Fo 5/18 is a warm wind, rolin.
Stid - it's under the clothes! i'm lounging in my house dress and I fold over underneath, ok? I'm sure that's way TMI for everyone. sorry.
Some days all you want to do is standing with arms and legs extended and not moving, lol.
and yes, I have a house dress. my grandmother gave it to me.
i've been doing that all day sprite
LOL Fiz... I sympathize completely.
LOL Fiz! Sometimes when it's really hot I just get my clothes wet and let evaporation cool things off.
thx sue
well - i think i'm going to hop in the shower and go to bed - and we can all pretend this never happened tomorrow. Good night!
Sue, I didn't understand the warm wind clue...
i think a cold shower is in order, then a good old fashioned sit-in-front-of-the-fan-while-still-we t.
night fiz!
Sounds good, froe!
nite fiz
Night Fiz!
yes, that does sound refreshing, froelica!
night all, stay cool!!
Dictionary def. for FO 5/18 is "A warm dry wind coming off the lee slopes of a mountain range, especially off the northern slopes of the Alps."
good night Fiz, see you tomorrow.
thanks Sue. that helped.

I am off too, happy babbling all.
YAY sprite, nite, minver!
nite sprite
almost went again when I logged on with no words and saw people had finished!
I'm exactly half way and told myself to go to bed when I reached that point, so I guess I'll obey myself
Have been quietly working away and have finished - so anyone need clues?
nite jillibus
and congrats maynegirl
Hooray for MayneGirl!
Thankyou all *blushes becomingly*
a quiet achiever! congrats maynegirl
YAY MayneGirl!!!!!!!
Good morning all. It's unusual to see so many babblers on 'late'.
You'll usually find this in an opera...
(didn't quite obey myself)
hello haz
Thanks jilli - I figured one cliffhanger a week is probably enough!
hi haz
Is the grid pleasing everyone today?
You might find this in a deli in Lebanon, if it's still standing...
Hi Haz - grid is not too bad - some strange and lovely words, tho
it is a fast one - is that pleasing? - I am not so sure
Yesterday's grid had its fair share of weird words! I'm still at the stage of finding normal ones here. 'Strange but true' words will follow.
Good morning Haz Good grid today but a bit short, mind you if pushed for time that might not be a bad thing.
Good morning FMItch - I've flushed you out! Yes, a short grid will be quite welcome today.
Well - if no one needs clues, think I will hop in the shower - aabout to slide right off this chair
I've been babbling away quietly Haz :)
Fmitch - did you see a picture in the paper yesterday of a humming bird hawk moth? We had seen one weeks ago feeding on my plants - it looks like a cross between an overgrown moth in the body, with an extraordinary humming bird wing action. Apparently they are from North Africa, but global warming has brought them our way.
nite MG
No, I didn't Haz, sounds extrodinary (will google it), you must have done a double take when you saw it in the garden!
"Wheat and tares together ****, Unto joy or sorrow grown.
I had to call the rest of the family to confirm that I wasn't seeing things!
it was an incredible photo haz, lucky you to have seen it
morning,afternoon,evening babblers
MVA - it was so incredible to watch, it was feeding away, and hovering. I haven't seen one since, even though the weather has got even warmer since then.
Good morning seano - a new addict!
Found it straight away - they are not small either are they Haz! Hi seano
hi seano
yup, easier over the weekend, pesky work gets in the way otherwise
Most of us find that life gets in the way of babble!
I'll second that motion.
and me!!
i haven't actually got up yet,i am on my laptop, does that count as addicted?
LOL seano - very definately.
sounds like it to me!
That sounds pretty normal for the addicted. Few of us face babble first thing fully clothed - some of us aren't even in our right minds....
how did it get so bad so quickly..........
some of us babble before we've had a cup of tea!
You must have an addictive personality.... Some people come on here, can't see what the whole thing is about, abuse us roundly for being mad, then disappear. Others just stay.
the chat is an integral part of it it. I have been playing for ten mins and have three words!
The chat and the cryptic clueing really add to the game.
some of us bable on batteries when we lose power
LOL ren
i see for the second day running we have a toilet function in the grid....hmmmm
And on that elevated note, I must depart - real life calls. I'll be back later, hopefully!
bye haz
hi first day on babble hello alll
later haz - enjoy your day
The Future ****! A **** to all and no **** to anybody!
Bye Haz, have a good day.
hi first day on babble
bye haz, hi taz
hi taz - welcome to the madhouse
i mean hi tazpink
hi taz
Hi taz, welcome.
hello tazpink... sit down... have a babble drink... and do you guys see what wr4 is doing here?? too many prefixes for my liking
They sat together in the park As the evening sky grew dark, She looked at him and he felt a spark tingle to his bones. 'Twas then he felt alone and wished that he'd gone straight And watched out for a simple twist of ****.
so the point is to just get all the words right then what ty for the welcome
joan baez
diamonds and rust
the challenge taz is to find ALL the words
ok what do word and tile stats mean?
Also on Blood on the Tracks by Bob Dylan, considered by many as one of the great Dylan albums
Yes taz, sounds simple but it's not necessarily that easy. If you enjoy words then you will like this.
I played for hours on 7/22 and I don't see my score. Does anyone know what happened? Was I supposed to log out?
so may i ask ow many words people have??
There are 104 words to find today, every day it is a differnt amount
right doug....ok all going for the zzzzz's s ee you later
Usually people who have been playing every day for a few months , and who can devote an hour or so, will get all the words - this can be as little as 60 or up to 350.
so far i have found 65 words it is tough but very fun
Hello? Did anyone else's score ever not appear at the end of the day?
sbaba - it may be a timing thing. have you checked the rankings again?
nite ren
sbaba I think you have to be playing for a while before you get onto the rankings.
I was ranked for my first game on 7/21. But when I check the archives, I'm not there. And my count was over 1700. But thanks for answering....
taz 65 words is great! You might want to have a look at Angelsongs resource page under friends of babble at the bottom of the page - lots of how to's and hints, plus links to the 2nd letter lists for when you get really stuck.
Hi MrP - missed you coming in.
breakfast beckons, bbl
"And that junior partnership I ****, Was the only ship that I ever had seen!"

Lolol.....now Matty....lol
ok no worries, let me know if you want a clue, as I am ahead of you.
brb
Ewwwwww...
thanks karys, but sorry I couldnt get it from your clues
Actually Matty.....when am in the shower I hate too much water on my face....start panicking.....
and won't have my hair washed with my head forward either!!
Really? That must be quite a pain (really). For me, heights is my crippling fear.
thanks for that Beast!
It is actually......I love to go Spain.....and I sit and look at them all cooling off in the pool with such envy....
It seems that any time I look up a word, when it has a definition in dictionary.com, it's a tree or shrub or product derived from one. Odd! Flask - I'd love to be able to ride horses, but I get frozen in terror when it starts moving. Ditto theme parks - I just cannot get on any high ride.
back again....my charge decided it was time for elevnses !
Beast...sorry about that,,,try an4/4 plus what we breathe
any clues for ap 5 anyone please?
Seconded! I can't find it!
not got it yet
thanks karys, i understand having to leave quickly and look after others
Now Matty, am the same with horses.......when I was younger I was put on a horse....but it took FOUR people to keep me on it....because every time the horse lifted a leg....I was pushed in a different direction.......it was horrible....and again I was terrified!!
got it now.....it's the ap*** way...a mountain range I think
Thanks Karys!
which ones that????.....lolol
It is something to do with bees, I think.
Surely CHEES has to be the phantom word!!
Ooop!....I meant CHEESE.....lol

im so happy one of my favourite instruments is on here
can anyone help with pi5 please
thanks matty, got it at last, and ty kateq
beast-keyboard or statue of the virgin
any clues for the an8 which is not about violation?
Beast - rather than asking for every word, you might find these two websites helpful: http://www.jumble.org/jumble.shtml and http://www.onelook.com/reverse-diction ary.shtml
Eva it uses the same four first letters - and an anagram of the ra4 - wet stuff that comes from the sky
thanks matty!
go
any clues for wi5/18 please?
matty, sorry for asking too much, sometimes the people on here are happy to help, and sometimes they are not
No worries Beast - I just find those two website really helpful - one is a crossword solver, and the other a reverse dictionary.
btw I am on 86 words
i swear by reverse dictionary, really helpful
Have you missed me???...lol....am back!
Me too - did you know you can specify the first letter or letters as well?
Hi MVA
Hi Flask!
hi flask
sorry, wasnt sure if you were trying to help or complaining
Thanks for the jumble site, Matty. ^^ It's very useful.
Tis, isn't it. I don't like using it too much, cuz it kinda feels like cheating, but when you're stuck, and monkey typing just doesn't seem to yield results, it's brilliant.
Done! Happy Sunday, Everyone!
Congrats Kate!
well done Kat!!
i didn't know that matty, i'll remember that
congrats kateq!!
okay, am i not thinking clearing because i just woke up? lol How is it possible to have a wr4/8 word? the w is 5 points which leaves only 2 points for 3 more letters.
Form the query thus: ta*: definition - so the first howver many letters you have, then a star, then a colon, then the definition.
yay...finito
Congrats Leg!
addy, 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 8 :)
Hi Ata!
woohoo the legend
true, atalante, but don't forget that the 4 letter word gets a point just for being 4 letters. that only leaves 7 points for the value of each tile. since W is 5, that leaves only 2 points. am i wrong?
hi matty :) hi everyone else :)
well done Leg!
hi matty
no, it doesn't, addy
hi mva
Sorry, addy - you're wrong - the only points you get are from the letters - you don't get a point for the word itself.
addy. you aren't awake yet. w=5+3x1-8
So you get 5 points for the W and 1 point each for the other common letters - making 8.
okay, now i'm totally confused. i thought each word got points based solely on length before adding the value of each tile. lol
The 1 for a four letter word is a multiplyer, not an adder (as it were)
oh DUH!
You muliply x 1 for a four point, x 2 for a five and so on.
i KNEW it was cuz i was still half asleep! thanks, guys LOL you're right, of course.
No worries, addy :D
maybe i'll skip coffee, and go right back to bed lol
Will I need a fish - is the ta5/18 really obvious?
addy, click on the help button at the top of the page, and all will be revealed
well, umm, wren? i had already done that. LOL as you can see, i completely ignored the "multiplier statement". I appreciate everyone's help :)
like to5/18, matty, just change second letter
Heh - MVA - I'll try that...when I get the to 5/18
lol addy, we all do it. especially when half asleep still :P
Finished. :D
Congrats Jen!
well done Jen!!
Thanks. :)
to5/18, like singer david b...., ziggy etc, congrats jen
thanks, atalante...still feel kinda silly! lol
thanks...MVA..;

does anyone want to know what an 8/40 means
the two corner n's are not hard to find if you think about hurshy's guide to boxes
hey ya Hurshy!
hi
Hi hurshy!
hi hurshy
Jeewhiz - that comes from the n on the 1st column under the t.....
tiny its a poison
okay, then try the ones that mean negative prefix plus another word
or its a poisonous prinsimple from the an6
morning all!
hi hurshy!
morning stidmama!
good morning, stid!!!
yes it is a poisonous principle obtained from an7/28
you get 'em yet CHS?
hi stidmama!
tiny from an6... ;)
Not yet, hursh.....
oh Annie! why migraine? did you overdo it? With all the heat, I have to keep reminding myself to go slower so I don't trigger one.
hi feather!
think about it CHS... starting from the corner, but not able to come from the N above, means they must use the N above later in the word...if you try to go nont...you get stuck for vowels...so you must have to go nonf...
Stid, it's feather who is suffering with the migraine...i havent had one in a very long time. feather had company over yesterday....i think she had too much fun....gurgle gurgle....lol
oh feather -- I am sorry. Is Doug home to take care of Daniel so you can rest?
Got the 2 corner ones, hursh, still looking for the other......
ohhhh, well so am i :)
pretty much has to be na
Stid,. great picture of matt...will look at the others later
in fact, will look now
thanks Annie! I don't have a lot up yet -- seems there is SO much to do. but will get more up tonight.
Just found the na...Hurshy, you were right.
to quote mary poppins..."obviously." but hows about a clue for it, jee?
Would you care to share that with us, JeeWhiz?
yes, please do share, Jee!
didn't want to clue early if you were still trying....lol...use oxygen word in the middle
nigeria, hurshy
hey ata. oh, didn't know nigeria had another name!
thanks jee :)
yw
well, nigerian currency ;)
ohh. yes, and i'm just so up on my african currencies.
:)
loool same here! that's about the only one I know!
haven't you been there on some of your recent world travels? Maybe you need to go there next.
BUT i did not forget to get that r word!
Now I neeed the one coming from the o amongst those n's.....
no, i get depressed far too easily to go to africa
me too movieman
yay!! told you you'd never forget it again!
okay, down to 38 and stopping for pie -- then blueberries need picking -- then MUSt get some housework done before it gets too much warmer (already 23 in the house).
later all!
i think about africa a good deal, and it always depresses me
bye stid
don't think I've ever been depressed in Africa. Annoyed and angry as heck, certainly!

fa5/16 is pl of the typeset word
It's probably that wind fo5/18. It's German, and it has appeared in the grid before.

Good night to you all

Haz, synchronised clueing - a new olympic sport?

*tries to insert wind firmly in head for next time*
Do I have to grin in a manic manner while clueing?
tiny - that you're a girl? cause you have pink.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL
oh, will you haz??
HA HA lol
tear
No, thank goodness and we don't have to have really pointy toes!
Actually a lady not a girl
Nor wear nose-clips and silly costumes!
potayto potahto
the nose clips would be the worst part
LOL Good Night
Jac grins widely at the picture she saw on entering: FMitch & Haz grinning manically, pointing their toes, wearing noseclips and silly costumes whilst clueing.
great sport!
you know, listening to haz and fmitch makes me realize that, other than nose clips, synchronized swimmers have a lot in common with santa's elves.
Ah - there will be the odd silly costume. LOL Hi Jacs
Hurshy - don't you mean 'duh dose clips wud be duh worsd pard'?
natch, jac
Haz/Jacs Did you see the Big Dance last night on TV live from Trafalgar Sq, they had sync swimmers in one of the fountains (the water is only 2ft deep)!!
sneaking in to grab a few words before I head out on vacation (it's a sickness, I know...)
help with no 4/5 please?
or IS there an no 4/5???
I am stuck on the first pa5 please.
Didn't see any telly last night, FMitch. We were playing 'Payday', a board game.

ok...gonna have a coffee and start some housework...be back later!
No! I missed that. How do you swim in so little water?
song of praise, jee
hi everybody..what's today's theme please?
oh, bj list led me astray... might need to refresh :)
help pls on to4/7 and to5/16?
TO - Hi. Today's theme is water, I think.
They stood there a sort of went through the motions.
pa5/12 - a hymn of praise. More vowels than you would expect!
FMitch - that sounds biazarre!
that sounds strange FMitch!
or even *bizarre.
But tell me that they kept smiling.
That bit was but the rest of it was great, over 40 dif dance styles demonstrated and lots of world records broken.
Im sure they did Haz, and they probably had the nose clips on just in case LOL
Haz and Hursh, on the pa5, are the rest of the letters vowels? I am stuck so far. thanks for the help as usual.
we watched Alexander, with Brad Pitt, i think i should have watched what you did FMitch!
pa5/12 - add most of Mr McGregor's first name (actor)
JeeWhiz - the vowels in the pa5 word are like the start of a Spanish seafood dish.
ok I'm off to do something vaguely useful. maybe. back later if ppl need clues :)
Still working on it, but will get it, I am sure. Thanks...
TTFN Ata
bye ata
I'm going to head off as well - have a good day!
bye haz
Bye Haz
'Bye Ata & Haz.

mva, rhymes with cushy word
i have the to7and it rhymes with so47
Paul's just bought me a steamer chair so I can lie back and read my books in comfort in the garden. It needs a long cushion though so I need to get up into the loft and find a lounger cushion.... but it'll be boiling hot in the loft... He is a love though... so kind to have got me the chair he knew I wanted.
Hi lianakate, how are you feeling? Long time no see here.

Ahh that lovely Jacs
I get the results on my 4 tests tomorrow..am kind of nervous to hear..ack.
You are welcome..glad you are feeling well. I always wonder about you when you are missing...
MVA - the to5/16 is the plural of the to4/7 that rhymes with so4/7 (that means 'not hard').
Best wishes on your tests...Hope you get the results you want.
ty, jac..I too needed that one..forgot to pluralize
BBL - I'm going to brave the tropical temperatures of the loft and find that cushion.
thanks jee whiz, liana and jacula.......fireworks!!
ty, Jee :)
li" are those 7s compound words?
Let's go back to the pa5. I am still stuck...I know the McGregor actor's name, but haven't been able to monkey the word...any other clue fragments?

you guys are good at clues, i'm so slow that by the time i've thought of it someone has already given oen
well, i should go take the kids back from dad. have a good day all
ty very much
ah, but are our clues useful is the question.... Mine tend to be obtuse... Don't want to give it aaway too easily, unless it's accompanied by a fish >++('>
Goodbye lgorms! I will see you tomorrow in the chat!
I figure if someone is hard up enough to ask for a clue, they dont want a mystery
Sometimes I like a mystery. It depends on where I am at on my list and the time.If I know that I'm going to finish early, I do not mind gettinga mystery. But if it is crunch time, I almost want to be given the word.
I would disagree Uncag - I love the cryptic clues and the suggested words that make you think and then find the word, much more fun than dry dictionaries. But if the clock is running then basic works for me.
Does anyone have a clue for the st 5/10 word please?
i like to hear the little yelp as the last tuft of hair gets pulled.....
Actually, I need both st 5/10 words if you have them.
stoai
blast it
just add different vowels to the st 4/4
too much yakking going on by me....
so much for that tuft of hair....lol!!
wow, Brandyjack, I dont give clues that easy
What brandyjack just did works for me too. Thanks!
i didn't have the words myself, was just putting them in. in the wrong place as usual....
there are 3st x 5 words
BJ - maybe you can petition Dr_G to change the cursor problem?
I will NOT give away the other two, except to say that one sounds like something John Carter or Dejah Thoris might ride, but is in fact a variety of ermine....
Is anybody's internet running slowly.I type in a word and it takes forever for a response. Now it said word could not be added and to try again.Do you see that in the log? This happens to me all of the time! I don't know if it is my DSL or the Babble website. Oh well!!
FMitch, I can think of a couple of ways that Dr_G might fix it, but then you might wind up with the Babble screen stealing the focus from another window....
I get that very occasionally Minver but all is fine this evening
Hi all, yes, Min, I've had that happen
it happens now and then min
can anyone give me a clue for the first no6/27 please
Bj - it
BJ - it's just that in the old layout typing thw word in the wrong box wans't a prob - is it really such a big deal in the new layout?
Minver, mine is running slow too. I can type ahead several words and then sit there and watch the machine digest them (or spit them out, as the case may be). suggest that problem is with DR_G's provider or server being busy. Just because people aren't in the chat log, doesn't mmean they aren't playing....
Min, I think it is a problem with DSL as it happens to me too, but doesnt seem to affect everyone else at same time
Hi again. BJ - we're keeping the food warm for you! (See icon <-------)
Jac, it's not nice to tease the animals....... But, Relish??? On ribs????????
The relish was for the burgers, BJ. LOL.
the no 6/27 might be described as a person who doesnt like sports
Jacs...looks delish!!!
Kids just have no sense of good taste. Make 'em eat ribs. Burgers are bad for you....
Home made burgers BJ, surely we can tempt you with those?
BRB - phone.
Not when there are ribs to be found......
home made bugers are not as nice as shop bought...not enough snouts and entrails
I get even with my kids though and stufff the burgers full of spinach, feta and garlic.
unca, thanks, got it from your clue
Sean - Yuk!
Ah true in the heirachy of things ribs first. Yuck seano and Yum Yum to your burgers

which an's?
hmm, its the ar6/ 18 that I am missing. any clues?
I have the ones that mean against and what you do in a poker game.
I'm new at this game... hard to find the longer words...
an4/4 - what an unknown author is referred to as.
I just got one of the 8 letter ones!
an4/4 when you put in your bet you an** up an 4/4 when you are against something you are an**
Got that one too Jac!
an7/28 - 'against oxygen'.
an7/28 the an4/4(angainst)+ what you breath
Who's against that?? :)
an6/18 an7 minus the 2nd i
when u send an unsigned letter, you are the short form of ****ymous
do you have the an 8/40 or 8/45
Just missing the an8/40 now!
is the ar 6/ 18 a tough one?
AR 6/18 - begins the same as first three letters of ar 4/4 --- and then ends like a flower with thorns.
an8/40 an 7+ not out, but **
Hi all, have the an8/45 may I have clues for the an8/40 please
Bingo! that finishes me up, Thanks kk
Thanks!!!
yw Uncagin....congrats!
wtg uncag

Ren8 - an8/45 - 'against sexual attack'.

BJ - Yes, re the street. It is.
y/w, ren8.
Technically, the Roman road has a double consonant, but the clue seems to work. :)
Ive done now thank you everyone for your help
Congrats Ren8
Yay Ren8!
frog, I thought it had a doulbe P too, but the travel brochures I'vbe found on the web only use single 'P'.
BJ & frog - Like many names, there are varied spellings.
Incidentally, speaking of spellings, we kept seeing 'Roast Lamp' on Cretan menus. A bit crunchy that, I imagine!
Hi Babbler :)
{{Jacs}} HI!!!
Hi Faerie.x
My Open House is finally over *whew* had a nice turn out and now I'm ready to finish up my Babble :) I'm looking for clues for the in6/33 Please.
HI BJ :) I'm still using you list babe keep up the good work
it's like the en6/33 and the be6/39.
Faerie - in6 is one of the words (like be6 & en6) to do with parcelling things up.
Just to poke at that road one more time, this particular spelling actually means like a bee. And I would stay away from the roast lamp, personally. :)
xoxoxxoxoxoxox Thank you....I looked for that for ever this morning
Frog - Yes, re the bees. I remember someone failing on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire because they didn't know the proper name for a beehive.
Frog - We gave the 'lamp' a miss but did try some lamb one night.:-)
LOL Jacs
That must have stung... (ducks)
Hi frog
>++('>
Hi faerie
LOL, Frog.
question here. an8/45 ..... does that mean there is a Pro Sexual Attack?
Good question, Faerie. I often wonder where Enable drags these 'words' up from!
no kidding!!!
Faerie! Just realised that you are skinny dipping. Rude faerie! LOL.
yep LOL
Jacs your icon is just beautiful. That has to be a cruise ship huh?
Faerie - Yes. It's the ship 'Venus' that took us to the island of Spinalonga.
That had to be absolutly breath taking.
how can that be rude????????
Faerie - it was beautiful. I fell in love with the place and with the sparkling blue Aegean Sea.
BJ - I was kidding!
ya, that water makes me want to put my monitor on the floor and dive right in.....
BJ lets go skinny dipping *teehee*
Jac averts her eyes. ROFLOL.
in the aegean sea? where's my passport..........
your welcome to join Jacs* :)
BJ - Paul went swimming in it. I didn't as I don't like being out of my depth these days.
Plus we only had about 20 mins for swimming. Lots of people did dive off the boat though.
The water just looks crystal clear
they'd have been yelling 'man overboard' every ten minutes with me around.....
The water was crystal clear. It was absolutely wonderful.
LOL, BJ.
LOL
i'd have tripped, slipped, and schlepped my way into the water at every turn....
I want to go on a cruise :(
BJ - You'll have to holiday in Crete next year. You'd love it.
be6/39??
I too am now looking for my passport.
related to in6/33 and en6/33.
The Spinalonga cruise was a daytrip. We also did a self-drive jeep safari into the Dikti Mountains. Paul was driving a Suzuki jeep along roads that were more like rockfalls and grinning all the way. I got a HUGE bruise on my thigh.
thanks brandyjack!
Scenery was breathtaking though and the sound of goatbells deafening. Great day out!
at least this time I didn't type the word directly into the log....
LOL I have been trying to not type the words into chat but it happens!
man...did i suck at quotepuzzler today!!! fun tho
Hi Cath :)

29 to go here and slowing down
ar6 anyone?
36 to go and stalling...
brandy, how is it you know all the words b4 the rest of the world...for your page that is...i also wanna ask lickety the same question.
ar6 = ar + 3rd vowel plus the last part of the flower
must be angels of dr. god?
I don't know the, I have access to a program that solves and generates the whole list which I then feed to a couple of my programs that generate the stats.
nurse angels perhaps
wow...sounds complicated
good thing we don't ALL have acccess to that program... would be no point in playing!
the complicated part is cutting and pasting the list into my program without seeing the words....
See I couldn't be trusted...I'd cheat and have all the words LOL
where in canada are you brandyjack?
lol...ya...me too faerie...and be top of the stats list every day!!!
Ontario, about 2 hours east of Totonto.
*Toronto
Refresh to see the jeep safari in my icon. We're in the 1st blue jeep.
fa5/16?
kewl...i'm in Truro, Nova Scotia... used to live in Ontario (twice)...Brampton...Mississauga, East York and North York...moved 13 times in 7 years!
fa 5/16 is fa 4/7 plus add the letter n StephieC.
Visited Barrie. Dated a guy with a cottage at Lake of Bays just outside of Huntsville!!! Lovely cottage country! Where exactly east Brandy?
fa5/16 - a fa* you might need in hot weather (or to do a dance with!) + opposite of 'off'.
thanks!
I've moved 5 times in 40 years, without leaving town.......
LOL
best place for Trenton is in my rear view mirror.....
lol brandyjack!!! more settled (and no doubt more content) than myself!!!

makes the net a small place when we are practically neighbors!!
I just got an email saying there was a problem with babblers Anon, and I can't get the page to load. Anyone know how long this has been going on?
wife likes it in town. living in the country would drive her to distaction. jumps at every sound. I used to live in the country outside of town. My friends and I would spend hours in the deep woods at night.
Yes, Cathyar, very close LOL
Go Jaucla!!!!!!
wow...brandy...one would think that being in the country would be calming
My next home will be in the country if everything works out like I hope it will. *fingers crossed*
i'd LOVE to live in the country.
or better yet, near water...a nice winterized cottage at a beach
(to take our hard arctic winters here in Canada, right swmbo? ;) )
I going to the woods of Kentucky
I don't find the winters that bad, but maybe that is just me.
i'd trade it all for small deserted island in the south sea with some blue water and sharks to tease.....
When it is so cold it hurts it's too damn cold
Does anybody have a clue for the ta 4/4 word please
are the stats not updated today?
LOL BJ
I can't get Babblers Anon to load. Is this just me?
FIREWORKS FOR ME!:-)
I have been monkey-type it for the last ten minutes.
me neither...i think i was just extolling how it seems some people in many countries think our winters are 10 months out of 12!!!
Doesn't load for me either swmbo....
like in Nunavut or something
It's just like the pa4/5, just change the first letter.
go to Angelsongs Resource page and you can get to the words list there
i've never been to bab anon
min it's TA + (opp of out)
swmbo - Me neither. I tried when I had 8 words left to find but did without a list in the end as it wouldn't load.
or try lickety's page
Hmmm, maybe ezboard is just being wonky. I'll check later
na5/10??
lemme know when it's working...i'd like to try out babanon
I figured if I couldn't get into BJ's list I wasn't meant to use a list at that late stage. LOL.
dependson what you mean by winter. if it's less than 21c/70f degrees, the they are right. It is winter here 10 months of the year....
Thank you for the ta clues! You can throw me a fish!
n+ what you breath + 1st vowel
steph...na5/10 = the type of leg shaving cream with the first vowel on the end...
NA + retirement initials steph
any idea how long the site has been down? I will report it to the Powers That Be
thanks!
it was up at 1:30 or so when I posted the list.....
winter meaning cold and snow 10 months of the year
Does anyone have a clue for the wa 6/20 word please
Ah, I just go into babblers Anon now, so I hope things have straightened out
you'd have to get pretty high into the arctic for it to be that bad.
I'm off to feed the rabbits & g/pigs and then to water the plants and close the bbq up. I'll leave the jeep safari pic for you all to have a proper look at and change back to a sea pic later. 'Bye for now!x
Well I'm in Michigan and I hate the winters here so I can't imagine being in Canada.
winters are so much better here than they used to be...must be the climate change thing. we used to have way more blizzards than we have had the past few years.
wa**** soup
prob michigan would be similar to ours in Nova Scotia faerie
Congratulations Jacs!!@!!!!! Later
Chinese restaurant soup
here in southern ontario we a moaning because we don't get enough snow most of the time.......
yay jacs!
really brandy? why? skiing perhaps?
Cath most likely very similar
winters in southern ontario are better then here in NS... warm weather comes in March or April and stays that way till January...from my recollection
I love the sun and warm weather so I'm heading South. Going back home to be near my family. Yeah :)
not real Hot in march/april, but bearable at least
I am done! Thank you everybody for all of your clues!
don't blame ya faerie...for the weather and the family...why would u have gone north?
the local ski slope was open for 3 weeks this year. Was too warm most of the time and we had rain eternally. I remember when I was a kid standing up on the snow bank looking down at the school bus. Of course I also remember picking my butt up off the road after falling off said snowbank and spraining my wrist.....
Bye Min!
YAY Minver!!! Congrats!
Congratulation Minveryork!!!!!
LOL BJ
LOL brandy!!!
Babblers Anon is back up
sounds like fond memories
Snow is fun. But only AFTER you are done shovelling the stuff.....
pa 6/21 please
ya brandy...that IS the worst!!! i DETEST shovelling!
Been a lot of whining in the news the last few years about the excessive amounts of snow were starting to get. But it's still nowhere near what I remember as a kid. I think about the time I hit college, the winters started to get real mild. People have sort of gotten used to the mild ness and now that it's getting back to normal, they're complaining.
k...so i've opened bab anon on another page...where's the best place to visit from there...i've been to brandyjacks page and lickety's page before many times....where else is fun/informative re babble
pa 6/21 is pa the water that comes from the sky.
I'll be on and off the rest of the day to help with clues
yeah brandy...i agree...my parents have told me horror stories about the snow drifts being as high as the telephone lines! (out west i hear they don't have telephone lines...all underground)
Thanks Minv :)
(power lines etc)
yep. Never had the nerve to touch one of the wires myself... Of course, now that I know the lowest lines are actually telephone instead of power.......
I don't get you pa clue Min.
I should have said I don't get YOUR pa clue Min.
StephieC,it is pa plus the water that comes from the sky. The weather might be sunny or ra**ny.
She mean't pa + the water that falls from the sky, but it's actually an anagram of the water drops.
lol...brandy...u should have been here the other night when one of our fellow babblers and i were trading alcoholic drinks and she decided to dance into a campfire and play with lightning rods in a thunderstorm ;)
Okay, I got it now! TY!!
methinks one too many strawberry daquiris!!!
Next time you see her, perhaps you should bestow upon her a Darwin Award.....
odd...haven't seen here since!!!
perhaps she held up the lightning rod too high!
Oh sorry! Hence the reason why I need to clue. So I can get more practice.Or maybe I shouldn't clue so I don't confuse people. I've been trying to get better.
Then she already got her Darwin Award.....
s'ok minver...everyone appreciates clues and efforts thereupon!!! myself included.
Oh Minv I got it right away,
That's ok Min, I usually clue the wrong word...... It's a good clue, but for some other word entirely....
lol it was funny regardless. I'm sure she shall return
i've totally confused people with some of my clues, i think
I've spent the last half hour looking for the first to4 and I already had it. filled my list out wrong.....
LOL I hate it when that happens
And it turns out the to4/4 I was missing was one that would have gotten me a fish....
finally done.
YAY BRANDY!!!! HOORAY FOR U?
what am i going to do for the next 8+ hours........
Congratulations brandyjack on your fireworks! YAY!
maybe I could go shovel some snow?????

Oh, Min--I have been here on and off all day, LOL I have 2 left now, as opposed to 4 an hour ago, and I am sure I will not finish the grid

hi Ping!

one of the very early meds I took for mygraine had caffeine in it
pam, what do you need? I'm not much good at giving clues but I might be able to help
i don't do aleve for some reason. never got into it much. i think i worry that if it doesn't work, i'll have to wait too long to try something else
pam I have been off and on all day too so should have known you were here.Sorry! Good luck finishing grid!
ex--an f and an no from the bottom, 2nd N from left
excedrine migraine is just acetominafin (yeah, i know that's spelled wrong), aspirin, and caffiene
feather, probably similar effect in combo like that
Lib, how are you doing this evening?
yes, Feather, but I try to stay away from acetaminophen
I find that buffered aspirin works best for me-- even when I had a ruptured disk!
my recipe is tylenol, food, coke, and either a nap or a shower in the dark.
what I took - way back, was caffergot - but ergot is dangerous in child bearing years
I'm fine, ping & you?
for headaches Advil does it for me... Aleve is good too
haven't heard of that flosey

yay ping!!!!!
good evening all - does anyone have a clue for the en 6/33? It's stumping me big time!
yay ping! ooooh, the volcano, lol
Good evening, babbz. en6/33 is related to be 6/39 and in6/33 - it has to do with parcelling things up.
en6/33 en+ gift ****- what you go with a gift before you give it you **** it in paper
Hello babbz! How are you? Welcome to today's puzzle
Hi Jacula! Didn't know you were here? Did you finish?
thanks much min!
hi jacula!
just got back from camping for the weekend!
erin - the time taken to finish usually depends mostly on how weird the words are rather than how big the grid is. For a seasoned Babbler with a short but 'normal' grid 20 mins is not unheard of. However, most grids go on for longer than that for most of us, especially as life intervenes in between finding words.;-)
hi babbz!
aha! I just figured out which one was the %**&# volcano.
brb
thanks jacula
Hi FranMag & Minver. Minver, I wasn't here until just. LOL. Yes, I finished some hours ago.
were the stats updated today?
hey there fran!
Wow Jacula, that is utterly incredible to me. it took me a few hours total, I'd guess. hats off to you smarties!
erin - the et4 (Sicilian volcano) is a frequent word in the Babble grids, as are various fish and sea birds. You'll get to know them as youplay more.
erin, i started at 9:30 am, and finished around 9pm. I come back and forth to the grid all day.
babbz - Where were you camping and did you have a good time, and did you avoid getting bitten to death by mozzies?
Question for any or all of you. We were driving home on Interstate 80 and must have seen about 500 motorcycles all in a row driving west. Is that Sturgis festival going on this week? I swear every rider had to be 300 pounds, too. Picture that in your rear view mirror!!!
Evening All
oh good, feather, now I feel better! lol
We went to Starved Rock, had beautiful weather with absolutely zero mosquitos! That's gotta be a first
Hello Kenny Chuck! How are you? Welcome to the grid
Starved Rock is west of us, only about an hour and a half. Beautiful park on the Illinois River
my husband says yes, he thinks sturgis is around this time
hi kenny!
babbz - I cannot say (unless I 'cheat' and Google it) about what's going on in US, since I am a nightowl from the UK.
'Straved Rock', what an evocative name!
*Starved
i just looked it up, it says the rally is august 7-13.
min in using your clue for the an 8/40 I am only getting 6 letters, is the 8/40 plural of the an 6?
Hiya Minveryork, Fran, et al. Missed the grid yesterday due to the technoglitches. Got a lot done in the yard, tho!!
Started tpday'
Woops. Started today's a little earlier...still 35 to go
babbz, was it 500 fat boys on their fat boys?
I started the grid at 1:00A.M. and some people were already done by 3:00 A.M. I stayed up until 3:30 and then finished it in afternoon.Took me awhile to finish
lol jac - actually it's got some history - two warring Indian tribes were fighting and one of the tribes decided to wait out the attack on this big rock, but they forgot to bring food and they were surrounded by the other tribe, who just waited them out as they starved to death.
Yeah. Not straightforward at all for me.
hahah! Fran you are so witty. It was definitely 500 fat boys on their hogs!
how sad!
gooo kenny!
oh well, a legend. And Starved Rock is right next to Lover
babbz - thanks for the background info on that. I always like to learn new things.
ar6?
oops right next to Lover's Leap - where a brave and an indian princess from the two warring tribes decided they would jump to their death together rather than live apart.
NRB - have some laundry to attend to. Someone's cigarette lighter got washed and, guess what, it's still working!
31
babbz - that Lover's Leap story has me in mind of the old song, 'Fernando'.
Back in a bit.
not familiar with fernando, jac - but almost sounds like romeo & juliet, indian style, doesn't it?
27
go kenny go!
4 left, need clue for the WA6/30, AN 7/28, AN 8/40 & AN 8/45 please
Hi, ronnie. For the an8,45 do you have the ra 4,5, cuz I'm anti-that!
Ronnie, of the 4, the only one I have is the WA... CLUE: promiscuous, or a kind of Chinese soup (sic)
Hallo, all, how's the heat?

Congrats, ronnie. Good clue, bookwyrm

Congrats, ronnielee.
hoooray for us, ronnie!
babbz - I remember going to see Zefirelli's 'Romeo & Juliet' with Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey in the starring roles when I was at school and studying Shaespeare's play for 'O' Level - I wept buckets. However, reading the play, and watching the film, again many years later after a long marriage, 2 kids and a divorce, I just thought how young and silly the two were - how 'teenaged'. LOL.
Congrats, Leslieann!
thanks, anyone need clues
*Shakespeare! (Sorry Will!)
i think he'll forgive you jac
I will, ronnie. In a few minutes when I've exhausted my options
Down to 17
Tx, Pam. I'm done, too, if anyone needs clues, I'll hang out for a bit. Just sitting here keeping an eye on my post-surgery dog, anyhow...
LeslieAnn - I hope so!
Mind you, he spelled his own surname many different ways himself.
ra 4/4?
Where in Mass are you, Pam? I'm from Springfield, originally
AR + 2 vowels or the precipation clue
ra + third vowel + first vowel, kao
Kaorucha?
sorry that should have been RA
Sorry, the precipitation ? got dropped
kaor - ra4/4 - a precipitation (think wet weather) or a genus of fish that includes skates and mantas.
Any clue for either FO5? PATY.
ty
Plural typeface for the second fo5
plural FO 4/7 KC
kenny, fo + anagram of an egg-laying chicken
Kenny - fo5/18 sounds like what rings and you can talk to people on. Begins with an fo* (enemy) and ends like a common male name whose surname is US, if unknown, is 'Doe'.
*in US
bothno6,27 s remain a mystery
Perfect clues, thanks all!!!

FranMag - love your waterfall icon. Don't know whether to bother changing my jeep safari pic back to a Cretan sea one now.
Kenny - lemons.
okay, how about the st5?
And since I was drinking lemonaid when I finished today's puzzle, I'll go with lemons til something else strikes
You are now well and truly hooked, kenny. LOL.
yay kenny!!!
It was only a matter of time, Jac; I think we all knew *L*
OK, well, my lemons are all squeezed out for today. Happy babbling all!!
hey jac! just saw your comment about my waterfall...thanks!
Lauren - there are 3 st5's. The last one is a ferret-like animal. The two before it begin with the same first 4 letters but have diffrent endings, though both endings are vowels.
night kenny!
congrats on going pro kenny!
Kenny - but at least no 'newbie' (apart from we long-time ones) can say we weren't warned when we first spoke up on the site!
'Night Kenny. Sleep well.
lol jac! that's true, they usually get many warnings!
hi everyone. I've been lurking for a while, trying to make some progress without going to the list. Have 19 left and am truly stuck. One which is driving menuts in the one word from the second n on the bottom. Also the second word from the first n on the bottom. I have the written thing.
hi eva!
Hi Eva & Merp - Hey, you two, I did this grid listless so you can, too! *grins* What clues would you like?
ni Fran-nice looking waterfall there.
Yup, feeling pretty listless indeed. Merp is downstairs doing some bad kitty thing. Those bottom n's would be a nice start.
And those ridiculous o's!
thanks eva!
Eva - I had the ship Venus and the wonderful sparkling and clear sapphire blue of the Aegean Sea on my icon earlier, but then I put a pic of our jeep safari up into the Dikti Mountains on. That's what you can see now. We are in 1st blue jeep.
eva, not sure which N you have, so here you go: n + the 4 letter opera song, but the 2nd and 3rd letters are switched another word for grandma, sort of not a follower of a sport not adipose tissue like the written thing, different vowel
wow-that looks incredible Jac! Where are the Dikti Mountains?
blessings upon your smart little head feather! The n's are now gone.
hee, welcome eva!
eva, the Os are: oa4/7 - cloddish or clumsy ones ob4/6 - plural of japanese sash, but change last vowel ow4/8 - ow** money to the bank
how about those o's now?
oh, tag team here! fran's it now!
hee hee feather! :-)
Eva - n + what we breathe + first vowel. n4/4 - sounds like nothig but has 1st vowel instead of 2nd at end. no6/27 - not a follower or celebrator of (think of a music group or a football team, if you like them, you are a fa*). no6.27 - same start again as the word before but this one is low calorie. no4/4 - Latin phrase, meaning note well', followed by the word 'bene'. no4.4 - Erm, I said the word in the last clue.
Eva - The Dikti Mountains are in East Crete. Crete is a Greek island.
can't believe I didn't at least see thebank one! Hysterical blindness. done with the o's now.
goooo eva!
can anyone clue me the an 5 please
14 left. I really should go to the list and stop bothering you guys. I'll be back when I've hit the wall there.
i don't see a an5 knitter...
Aknitter - there is no an5.
knitter, do you mean ap5?
Ap5 means 'of bees'.
ap5 is ap*** way, old roman road
ap5/12, ap + me/myself/* + singular two letter article
glasses again!! (must give in) I do mean the ap 5 ty
cool, three different clues, one has to do the trick!
hee, go get those specs knitter!
no,no, no that would mean i am old!!
Aknitter - are you at the 'need varifocals but cannot afford/am too stubborn to get them' stage, like me?
Aknitter! Control yourself! There is no such thing as 'old'! Old doesn't happen to the hip generation.
I don't know what stage i am @ Jac, somewhere between infancy and ......
knitter, my husband had to get reading glasses last year and he's not even 40!!
before that he was better than 20/20!
Some prat of an optician gave me reading glasses (for the blackboard) when I was 11!
Before he interfered, I had no idea that I couldn't see!
i actually wear contacts for distaqnce however my sight is so bad and they are so strong that the lenses interfere with my close vision. Take them out and i can read just fine, just can't see anything else LOL
i've worn glasses since 4th grade myself...age 9.
1st grade here !!
Fran- Similar to me.
leigh, my first pair were light blue cat's eyes with rhinestones!! eek!
of course they'd be cool and hip if i wore them now! lol
see, glasses are a sign of intelligence (we are all here), not necessarily a sign of good taste though -- meow
My first were pink wire frames...they looked like sideways Ds. Then came plastic frames, when plastic frames were anything but cool.
Franmag - after changing my icon back to the sea and then refreshing a couple of times, I come back to find you imitating Edna Everage. EEK!
i was only 9, how did i know!!
exactly like dame edna's!!
my glasses were so thick that i could never have the cute "latest" frame fashions. i always looked like a giant bug
Leigh - those sounds like British NHS frames.
ar 6 please 9if there really is one
Men dont make passes at gals who wear glasses
knitter, a + flower with another vowel in it
Aknitter - bottle bottom lenses! I guess you know you can get ultra-thin lenses now that don't make your eyes like HUGE and don't weight so heavy that they leave a red indentation of your nose?
that should say "extra" vowel
ar6/18, knitter, taked Gertrude Stein's famous remark and adds an "i" in the middle
jac, my glasses were so heavy I could barely lift my head, much nicer ones now
Hetty - that saying is a load of twaddle! I've never had any trouble attracting the opposite sex (or even same sex, on occasions, though not looked for!)
got that ar ty all
Thanks Hetty. =(
Aknitter - I have frameless specs now with ultrathin lenses. People don't even notice them in real life or in photos at times.
frameless? how do they stay on your face?
lol aknitter!
Jac, I only threw that emark in because I wanted to see my icon. Five times I've tried to change it in vain
Mind you, here in UK, that 'priviledge' cost me £400 and will cost another £200 more when I have to go varifocal.
4oo pounds! heavy glass
I think it's a load of twaddle too. Anyway, who needs passes?
Aknitter - they have a bridge and arms, you silly sausage! LOL.
Me.
Hetty - LOL!
Hetty - re the icon change - what message is the site throwing upre that?
twaddle? silly sausage? I feel like I speak another language (love it though)
YYesterday I got this srtrange pic I had never (kowingly) entered--don't kniw what it is--now my fifth attempt (3 for water, 2 for furniture) was for a bed
So what are you seeing?
hetty they look like lines .. hanging silly sausage perhaps
Hetty - It wasn't gertrude stein it was dorothy parker.
sorry, had to step away to feed children a snack.
hetty, i see a bed
Hetty - 2nd attempt since kicking myself off site... US English and UK English ARE different. But not as different as the English spoken from Land's End (down South in Cornwall) up to John O Groats (in Soctland)!
*Scotland
okay, back from list land and still missing 4: to4,7 to5,16 wr4,8 wr5,18
gertrude stein said 'a ro** is a 'ro** is a ro**. Drothy Parker may have quoted it, as she did so many other bon mots
wr 5 -- is to pen (or pencil) the 4 is the past tense
eva, to4/7 rhymes with so** and cuddly, to5/16 is plural
definitely gertrude stein
I remember a penpal of mine, from Paisley in Scotland, finally ringing me, after 2 years of letters, back in the 70s. I couldn't understand a word he said.
wr4/8 is wr** of habeas corpus
But we were both speaking 'English'!
Welol, someone is seeing a bed knitter, so it is sworking?
fran I could swear I tried that dozens of times...only in my febrile little cranium it seems. Thanks!
wr5/18 is wr*** a letter
yw eva!
Don't know what happened to my lovely lakes and rivers though
hetty, the bed icon is working! i see it and aknitter will probably see it if she clicks on your profile.
oh my god-how could I possibly have missed those wr's?!!!! Anyway, thanks muchly. Done. Fireworks and the whole megillah.
yay eva!!!!!!
jac, that's so funny!
hetty if i click on your name i see a bed, your icon in my chat log looks like a bunch of different colored lines
wr4/9 - end the show! wr** it up, it's a wr**! wr4/8 - what you serve on someone via a lawyer. wr5/18 - what you do when you put pen to paper.
i need help with the "e" words
look at my icon for one of the e words bech
hetty, i think the picture you picked for your bears was too large and wasn't square so when you uploaded it got skewed too much.
First one I've finished in a while because I've been list aversive for some reason. When I have fibro flare ups and am hurting I don't feel up to working at the puzzles so hard...but tonight it was easy enough, especially with the generous help.
ty aknitter!
FranMag - what is even funnier is that he always used to write to me in all capital letters, in case I didn't understand his handwriting! LOL. We recently got in touch again, 2 years' ago, re an old schoolfriends site.
another e in a volcano
dorothy parker said men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses. couldn't work out what your clue meant!!
jac, is that like talking louder when you think someone doesn't understand you?? lol
bech-female sheep, making a living, volcano,an en____ a present with paper
en6/33- en + do up a gift...
OK hillary--that's what happens--all having several conversations at once.LOL
hey lib!!
hellooo, fran!
done
FranMag - I think so. THE LOUDER YOU YELL, THE MORE EASY IT MAY BE FOR A FOREIGNER (i.e. non-English speaker) TO UNDERSTAND YOU.
yay, ak, me too!
yay aknitter!!!!!!!
Well done, Aknitter!
yay libarebel!!!!!!!!!!
ty, fran!
And, franmag, our exsplanation maked sense-- I had chosen an icon with seven bears side by side
love being done!! AND done without glasses!!!
Also,FranMag - if you wave your arms around and make signs, well, goddamit, it sometimes works! LOL.
is it still so brutally hot in the UK?
Clues anyone?
hetty, i could tell what they were supposed to be, but the resizing protocol dr_god is using just made it unrecognizable!
FIREWORKS w, a lot of help from flo
Yay for you a knitter. And Jac,you are so fluent yoiu don't need to shout
yeah dilly
jac, it's true!
WELL DONE Dilly
yay dilly!!!!!!!
will someone sing me a lullaby so I'll get sleepy?
Great, dilly. Did you and flosey bkniw thatb jilli has had seriousserver problems today? She called me and had me enter some words for her.
eva if i were to sing to you, you'd never sleep (you'd be too scared)
a phone clues
I'm sure you have a beautfiul voice aknitter-ba,ba black sheep would probably be appropriate
I had no knowledge of Greek when I got to Crete but I do know that people appreciate you at least having a try... I spent a day or so listening to Cretans talking amongst themselves, to get the feel of the accent, then asked a barmaid in the place where we were staying how o say a few things and how to pronounce them. I put my Greek phrasebook on the table and we spent some time going between the Greek for me and the English for her and had great fun doing it.
Golen sumbers kiss thine eyes/ Smiles awake thee when rise? slepp little darling, do not cry? And I will sing a lullaby ---
thanh you111
baa baa baa , nope can't carry a tune
well, thank you!!!
thank you hetty-I'm imagining the tune. Very restful.
good night all. See you tomorrow. Our wood gets delivered tomorrow. Hard to believe that it will be winter again, but it tends to happen every year.
night eva!
night eva, i'm off to. back tomorrow
Don't you know that tune? Oh dear, I chose it because I thought everyone did
Eva - I could do to you what I did to my own kids after reading to them for 2 hours+ and then hoping to bore them to sleep... I could sing you the full versions of 'Jerusalem' and 'On Ilkley Moor Bah 'tat'.
night aknitter!
Oh dear! I see my kids must have sent my singing reputation before me! 'Night Eva and Aknitter.
jac, you sure can clear a room! lol
I'll go back to an earlier song: Goodnight, sweetheart,All my cares are for you, Goodnight sweetheart, till we meet tomorrow--
*having a giggling fit here* Not fitting for a 49-year-old lady, I know, but it's happening nevertheless.
Jac, I bet i couold beat you at "Ilka moor bah tat"
Where has tha bin since ah saw thee?
hetty, is that the same as hte one "goodnight, sweetheart, well it's time to go..doo doo doo doo doo..."
Oh boy! I've seen my bed at last! Familiar territory these past few days
shhh.....did we all fall asleep from the lullabies?
on ilka moor bayh tat(repeat)(repea) (repeat) (repaeat Thou'st been a coortin Mary Jane etc.":
nah feather, jac was going to start singing so everyone left!! :-)
okay I have 3 left and i can almost taste the fireworks (I can hear them too)!! Here are a few piddly ones that are giving me fits: an8/45, pa5/12, and ta5/18. Actually some neighborhood kids are shooting off fireworks right now as we speak and my dog is going bananas! Thanks!
lol, i popped in to say goodnight, and just at the right time apparently
hye
hey
feather, it is not. How I wish I could make younhear it--it's so pretty--"Dreams enfold you, In them dear I'll old you, Goodnight sweetheart, good night!"
FranMag! You haven't even heard me sing it yet! I've a good mind to get you on MSN and send you the sound file of me doing so!
babbz, an8/45 is against a crime against women (mostly)
*goes off to bed humming sha na na song "goodnight sweetheart"*
see you all tomorrow!
That's HOLD you, not old you. Oh dear
jac, i'm sure it's lovely...uh, my MSN is broken...;-)
night feather!!
A man can be assaulted similarly. Night feather
pa5/12 is a song of praise to the lord, pa + last 3 letters of m*** and nasty
woohoo only 2 left
ta5/18 is just like the to5/18
fireworks - now I have visuals AND SOUND!!! thanks you guys are great!
yay babbz!!!!!
Congrats, babbz!
FranMag - you have nooooo faith in me! I've a good mind to send you a copy of me singing James, Hold The Ladder Steady or Donald Wheers Yer Troosers instead!
Well done, babbz.
that last one sounds interesting...you can send it my email...franw66@aol.com
Lol Franmag! Let the wind blow high, let the wind blow low, all the lassies say 'helloo'...
That's a taster.
hey everyone !
hi helen!
i'm getting a late start - anyone here cluing, if need be?
hey fran!
I'm ere Helen.
i'm here!
hiya jacula!
good, good, good to know
I was going to sing on Ilkley Moor Baht 'At but can't be bothereed to type it all out now.
and what language would that be in jac? :)
helen, my daughter is fussing so i may be a little slow!
That would be in Yorkshire, Helen.
LOL
Finished. Time to walk the dog.....again...
WTG LEIGH !!!!!
I felt my last post to you Helen, was a bit like Hilda Ogden's line ti hubby Stanley in a very long time ago Coronation Street episode... 'What's that, Huilda? he asked. 'WOMAN, Stanley!' she said.
lol.
Sorr re spelling now. It'a 4.16am here in UK.
If I was drunk I wouldn't apologise. I'm just too hot!
well, if it's that late, then you are completely forgiven for any past & future typos you may make :)
Thank you Helen. =) Hope you finish!
*wanders off with the pup*
Heat, nor hot flushes/flashes suit me! Mind you, when away in Crete, I didn't identify too many hot flushes, it was too hot anyway! LOL.
oh jacula - so i've been taking the estroven & it's actually working perfectly, have not have a flash in many weeks now - took a few weeks to kick in though
Hi. I'm only missing 8 words. All As and Bs. Could someone please help? BE6/39, ar6/18, ap5/12, and all the big ANs. thanks.
ok, over 1/2 way there 48 to go
be6/39 be + how you prepare a gift to give
Min - be 6/39 - to * + what you do with a gift
be6/39 = be pluswra4 (what you do with parcels or presents).
ar 6/18 is ar 7 minus a vowel
Thanks MayneGirl. They are doing some pretty strange things with that WR in this grid.
The only AR word I have is the AR4 related to the opera.
yw Minski an 8/45 is against + very bad crime against women
Isn't everyone?
fireworks , mg w. some phone clues from my friend.
ar6/18 - Characterized by melody, as distinguished from harmony. Failing that, think of the area around a nipple and take off last 2 Los Angeles letters and change them for South East.
dilly! wow! way to go, girl
Got that one by googling definition. Thanks Jac.
ap5/12 is 'bee like'. Sounds like it may be to do with chimps though.
TY with the page working and Stone Angel, I cann take the heat
Min what else?
i'm back! computer was doing virus scan!
an6/45 - 'againt sexual assualt'.
Meant an 8/45! Sorry!
an7,28 an6,18 an8,40
Hi Fran - no cliffhanging tonite - was so hot stayed up laaate to finish grid last night
an6/40 = an6/18 + opposite of out.
oops sorry those are what I'm missing.
an 7/28 against oxygen?
thank goodness MG! those down to the wire finishes are stressfull for everyone! :-)
an 8/40 is an 6/18 + opp of out
an6/28 - 'against oxygen'.
I know Fran - I had to have a cold shower!
Jac - great minds think alike?
jacula, your water pic is awesome!
an7/28, for that last clue. Sorry! Take out the last vowel for the an6/18.
ok now just need the an6,18 and the an8,40 thinking..........
an6/18 = against oxygen minus the third vowel
FranMag - I though that when I took the pic.
*****FIREWORKS!!!!!*****
then an8/40 add opp of out the an6/18
*to the an6/18
YAY Minski!
WTG MINSKI !!!!!!
It's the cruise ship Vemus that took us to the island of Spinalonga. More wil be revealed when I wirte my travelog.
yay minski!!!!!!
Well done, Minski!
Time for bed. Nighty-nighyt all. Jacs soemtime I would love to hear about your trip but now I need sleep. TTFN.
Nite Min
helen, your creative use of alan in your icons is something i look forward to each day!!
night minski!!
'Night Minski.
lol fran - had to kinda skate the last couple - bears & disco - too tough
i can't wait for your travelogue jac!
you mean alan doesn't wrestle bears on his days off? lol
Today's theme - water? How do we known these things?
lol fran
i'll get you the link maynegirl.
http://www.playbabble.com/view_profile /6719
MG, the link is also on the right hand side of lickety's clue page.
ty Fran
Babbler, one of the players, keeps track of them and takes suggestions as well.
I have one left. w5 I have wa, wi & wr What am I missing please?
Well then, Fran|Mag. I guess I'd better get on with it in my own inimitable style before Haz goes on and gets back from her African safari and reportsd it far better than I ever could! Seriously, I think Haz should write the vet's wife book. That's a market that has not been tapped yet and she tells the stories with such gentlesness and humour that they could not be anything but a hit.
Betty, WO, plural of the wo4/8
20
Thanks Fran. Helpful as always. Nite.
she really should jac, i'm quite sure your travelogue will be great reading as well
yay bettyanne!!!!!
goooooooo helen!!!!
and goodnight bettyanne!
Franmag - I know it could be, but my style is far more prickly Jeremy Clarkson style stuff. Hazel's is more in the real life Maeve Binchy mould. Both have a place in the world, I guess. Also, can I say Haz is someone who I consider my friend on Babble and would hope to also do so in real life some time soon.
jacula - i'm not clear there on what you wrote - how is babble different from real life?
LOL
yes jac, she seems like a lovely person, one of many babblers (including yourself) that i'd like to meet in person.
Haz is the master of the Irish understatement. That really is THE BEST FORM OF SARACASM AND STATEMENT ON LIFE.
fRANmG - YOU WILL MET BOTHOF US. AT THE SAME TIME, i HOPE.
are you using the laptop again jac?
Sorry for shouting!
No, I'm on the main comp but it's late, I'm tired and I've also had a bit too much to drink.:-(
Time I bowed out, I guess.
Missing wi6 and no6. Any hints
it's almost 5 am there! you really should get some sleep jacs!
chj, wi6 is wi + bronzed from the sun
However, I would like to leave a message for Babbler Ferrari before I go.... Fer, get in touch again.
Yes, it's zzzzzzzzzzonk! time for me now.
It happens! LOL.
good nite jacula :)
2 no6s chj, one is without adipose tissue and the other just changes the last letter and means one who is not enthusiastic about a team or music group perhaps.
night jacula!!!
FranMag Thats wi5 not wi6
Haappy Bablbling all! See you about 10 hours into the next grid.
chj, there is no wi6
9 am going to need halp soon
Sorry I meany wa6
if you mean wa6, it's a word that means sexually open
chj, wa6 almost sounds like a chinese dumpling that is served fried or in soup.
hello ,hello
wanton
that's it chj!
hi suriya
hi all! not going to finish tongith, just wanted to check in.
hey stid!
Many thanks. I'm now done
yay chj!!!!!
YAY chj!
wtg chj !!!!!!!
Hey Fran! how are you today?
ooh stid, my dad took us to butchart gardens when i was 6!
hiya stid - that's your son?
one of them, yes.
we went to visit friends of his in Victoria, B.C.
It was our first time there -- and it was lovely.
how old stid?
we went to visit friends of ours -- hetty and Jill of course! :-)
how big of a place is it? wouldn't it be wierd if they knew my dad's friends?
oh helen! old enough to think he's old enough and young enough to not really be old enough... LOL a teenager!
Victoria is a HUGE place (and you know hetty and Jillibus, Fran!)
helen, it's stidmatt, he babbles occasionally, very nice young man, stidmama does a good job.
ooo, I'm moving to Victoria in 13 days time!!
lol stid - he's a very good looking young man
Evening folks!
lol - i just said that - hey - i thought stidmatt was your husband - he's a kid?
fowe
how nice jatb! you'll have to meet jilli and hetty
hi muse!
I have a lot of work to do first, set up net/tv/phone and furnish a house!!
he's a kid. Stidhat is my husband... Stidgrant is the other kid, and stidgmere is my mother... ;-) got a theme going.
hiya mymus!
hi Fran!
oh yeah right - it's been a while since i've seen any of them
hi helen! stid! jat!
but, I guess meeting people will be on my agenda, going there for kids school as the schools here aren't good and only know one person..
sounds like a lot of work jatb!
well Jatb, next time we go north, we'll set up a regular Babble Convention!
hi muse!
fo 5/18?
hetty and jillibus babble during the day here jatb, two very lovely ladies.
yep FranMag, but it'll be worth it, my eldest has some learning probs and they don't wanna help us here so I'm moving and my hubs will commute
helen, fo + anagram of egg-laying chicken
helen - enemy + chair letter and one hump consonant
helen - enemy + chair letter and one hump consonant
sort of sounds like what you call on
Stidmama, that'll be nice .. I'm on here most days but usually only have time to <never> finish the grid :)
tx - i actually had monkeyd 4 outta those 5, shoulda kept going
jatb, good luck with the help for your son!
st 5/10? 2outta3 i need - not the animal
helen, two of them are greek and latin plurals for the st4/4
add a vowel to the st4/4, then change it to another vowel
add a vowel to the st4/4, then change it to another vowel
st5/10 all the same word, different ending
ty got em
brb, son wants something to eat
Found the site Fran - now am trying to figure out how to get icons. Do not have digital camera yet (saving Mastercard points - will be some time yet) so cannot take picture of my favourite theme item
Jatb - Victoria is just a ferryride away from me! Such a beautiful city - whereabouts in Vic are you moving to?
FIREWORDS!!!!!
YAY HELEN
wow - what time did i get one? i dont think it's even been 45 minutes - every gridd should be this smooth
yay helen!!!!!
hello MayneGirl, I'm moving to Saanichton, Keating Crossways, my kids will school in Vic suburbs at Glenlyon Norfold school
where are you MayneGirl?
jatb- ok, i'm terrible at geography but you live in england and are moving to canada right? how does one commute?
wtg hk
I grew up in Saanichton - went to Mt Newton Junior High School - on Keating X Road!
Lol Beebee, nope, I used to live in London, now I live in the caribbean and hubs will have to get up very early in the morning!
actually I'll live there and come back here for hols, then he will come up and visit us during term time
I live on one of the Gulf Islands - Mayne - you'll pass it when you take the ferry from Vancouver
Ah, I'll be on the ferry this coming 6th August, I'll wave!
beebee your icon is so cute!
YAY helen!
I'll wave back!
so Jatb and Mayne -- sounds like our world really is small! LOL
lol, thanks <laughs>
jatb- ok- i was getting worried that i was really bad at geography ;) - don't you love the caribbean? or maybe you can only love it when it's for a week or two here and there
maynegirl- t/y- i really change it cause i'm too lazy
oops rarely
I've lived here for 14 years, a small island at the bottom end of the bahamas chain. Yes I love it and it was the perfect place to bring up kids but .. they need school and to see the "real" world .. they are amazed that they'll be able to buy "things" from a shop, not order online, wait then pay double for shipping and duty .. ah, and there is the grass, they are in awe of that
Indeed, Stidmama - and here we all are!
my back hurts - i'm going to lay down - maybe see you at the flip - bye :)
Me too beebee - seems to take so long to find something
jatb- i wish you luck on your move, i hope it's everything y'all want it to be
good night helen! be good to yourself and see you tomorrow.
bye hk- hope your back feels better
Nite Helen - I'd suggest a hotwater bottle but not today!
bite helen feel better
It sure is a small world. Thanks beebee. It'll be very different from what we're used to but I hope it'll turn out good for all of us.
You will love Saanichton, Jatb - I think the islands and southern Vancouver Island are the loveliest places in Canada
Jatb...will they also be in "awe" of the snow and cold weather?
We hardly get snow - kind of a Mediterranean climate here for the most part
really? wow didn't know that
ah yes, they've never seen snow!! They're looking forward to it .. MayneGirl, that's why I chose Victoria!
the greatest minds in the world are on babble- can we please come up with a "cure" for housework? i'm sick of doing it and even sicker of the pigsty it becomes when i don't.
It rarely gets below 5C (forget the formula to change to F) in winter
get a maid!
maynegirl, i was a way for a bit, most of us find icons through google images search. just go to www.google.com and click on images before you put in your search terms.
Swerve and avoid, beebee
jatb- they don't clean it right and then i have to go behind them- a waste of time and money
lol maynegirl!! that's me.
ty Fran - I was using the wrong search words
maynegirl- good answer- the only problem is hubby and kids aren't good at it and always have to comment
I am not awake enough to focus on finding words or anything else... see you folks tomorrow!
lol beebee, then learn to ignore .. get tunnel vision perhaps?
night stid!! see you tomorrow more i hope!
sown
Right on Fran - life's to short - pick up the big stuff and ignore the little stuff
nite stid
nite stid sleep well!

nrkii told us about this site that has a few good word games
nrk got us hooked on them and now it's dominated by babblers! great fun!
muse is wordbuilder queen!!
i'll try it-thx
muse, can't wait to see how jodan got 150 today!!
I wouldn't say that Fran but I do much better in that and Top Words than I do in the other gaems
me too
i WAS doing pretty well in secret word, but i messed up today!
I couldn't come up with a 7 letter that took advantage of those two 2x word boxes
muse- y is your shirt not blue or pink? it looks black- i want a black shirt too. pink isn't my best color ;)
neither could i, but i used the 10 point letter that was already there to start.
don't have the hang of that game yet
I didn't pick a "sex" beebee
beebee, if you don't indicate male or female, it comes out that color

hi leigh!
hi leigh!
why leigh?
checking out my icon to see if it worked!
hey babbz, i see green things
nice flowers! did you just go pro?
Because some heffing children decided they were going to be smart-asses and they really pissed me off. I wanted to use the for unlawful carnal knowledge (-ing) word. They made me very mad.
nice flowers babbz!
what happened?
lol fran! I got a little carried away this year...that and miracle grow!! you should see them now - i swear it's a different climate on my deck, lol!
lol
nice babbz!
leigh, aren't you house-sitting for your family right now?
Eh. I was walking my puppy and they were sitting out at the front of someone's driveway and they're all giggly and they said to each other "Who walks their dog NOW?" and so I snapped back, "Someone whose dog needs to (expletive). Mind your own (expletive) business." And so they tried to be all sneaky (read: giggling and trailing me loudly from the other side of the street about 25 feet back) and follow me home. I was sooooooooooo tempted to call the cops, because there is indeed a curfew for little obnoxious children.
And yes.....I'm home alone. It hasn't been very pleasant so far.
Time to call it a night - good night, all!
Night babbz
kids today are so rude!! when did that happen? when i was a kid my sisters and i would never have spoken to an adult that way!
nite babbz
sweet dreams all
night babbz, congratulations on going pro!
were they teenagers or young kids leigh?
Just now. I walked my dog around the corner and snuck through my neighbors back yard. I didn't want them to know where I lived because then it comes back to pranking and stupid shit like that. They were teens. I'd say 14/15...
groups of kids can often act that way if there is 1 obnoxious one in the group
I just wanted to strangle the whole lot.
i know what you mean muse.
that was smart leigh
ta 5/18 please
I'm sorry I cursed. It slipped. I have a horrible potty mouth.
magbag, it's just like the to5/18, ends like david bo***
you could always call the local police and let them know you think they are looking for trouble
thank you!
yw magbag!
maybe they can have a patrol car do a drive through.
especially since you're home alone leigh.
Indeed. I think they're gone, but if I do hear something, I will phone the police right quick.
brb gonna fetch an icon I hope
oh yes, time to change!
Hi there! a clue for the be 6/39 and the en 6/33, please....
chic, they both end with what you do with a present.
like the in6
oh yeah...hi chic!
Down to 3. Clue for the wi 5/18 please?
pdb, wi + bronzed by the sun
Hi chic.
Hey Fran! well I don't have the in 6 either; it's not computing....
Thanks, Fran.
in 6 is like be 6, which is like en 6
chic, all three, in6, en6 and be6 end with what you do with a gift before giving it or a package before sending it.
I'm making myself laugh, because I haven't posted in chat yet today, and I just realized I never changed from yesterday's disco icon...
ok I got the en 6 and the in 6 now...
It's okay, pdb. I'm still using the bears. I think mine is cute.
also be 6 chic

leigh, are you feeling better yet?
chic, it's furniture.
furniture chic
Yeah. Better. The dog threw up on the carpet. But getting over that too.
chic furniture even.
it was his commentary on the evening i guess!
very nice Fran!
I have serious lag in this chat box
when is it going to be pirate day?
my food prep island muse?
yes
wouldn't fit in my kitchen I'm afraid
don't see one coming up chic, but you can email babbler and she can add it to the list.
it would fit in mine, but would clash horribly!
well, customize it and select the material of your choice!
New icon for me!
what a cool coffee table!
very modern!
since we're renting it would be a waste of money muse!
You can't put much on it. Not anything kinda big, anyway.
Have you ever had a problem with words disappearing from the word list??? Help!
