I'll have to go rent it now, never saw it
How goes it, K?

Hi stid!
hiya stid!
:-)
G'nite all--good luck w. this monster!
Sean Penn looks like my 6'2" grandson
what's the verdict on this one?
seems like it could be tricky, or that could be 12:30 talking
Huge, stid, and hopeless for me
nite, dilly - see you thurs
g'nite dilly, see you tomorrow
Nite dilly - call me re bridge results, ok?
oh well, I started, see how far I get. I am less worried about the finishing -- just trying to accumulate points at this point in my life!
good night dilly!
will do jilly -
Hey Dilly, a book we recently read!!
got an 8!
woo-hoo melon!
my favorite painter is in the grid - odilon re***
first two letters melon?
ooh, I really like him too, helen!
ca8/50 past tense of ca6/21
ca, but aix beat me to it.
wow une! he's not very well known, but i just love his stuff, there's something about it because overall not greatly fond of that style - but his works just speak to me :)
thanks, Une
i also have an an8, past tense of an6/30
sorry, melon!
got them, thanks Roc
thanks for the 8s, got both of them...
what sorry? no problemo, i was engrossed in the grid.
thanks, roc
roc tx for the an8
I have NOT got those 8s and feel dumb
Whoa, let's form the Odilon Redon fan club!!!
I'm in, Erda!
erda said a word! LOL
thx erda
I know someone in San Francisco who actually has one of his paintings...
i'm in too - i even have a tee-shirt with a spider on the shoulder!
ohmygod, very impressive!
really erda - what does it look like?
thanks for the word erda, didn't think to use it as a grid word!
(erda knows someone very, very wealthy!)
It's just a still life -- not one of the major items...still very nice!!
Once I came upon a blue Picasso madonna over someone's mantelpiece, also in San Francisco, and I almost fainted...
hi everyone! Whose paintings are you talking about? (It's scrolled off the 'Chatterbox' panel and I don't know how to find it. Thanks!
past the half way mark -- time to hit the sack -- see you tomorrow :)
good night nan! see you tomorrow
me to cnan, night everyone
about 15 years ago, i was tempted to buy a picasso sketch - a very, very rudimentary sketch, at a contemp. art show here, for $3000
One of the French Symbolists, Odilon Re***
erda runs with the big dogs!
only time that happened to me was when i was working in Paris and a friend had a very wealthy uncle and aunt who'd made a fortune in morel mushrooms and had SEVERAL works by "known" artists--took my breath away!
Oh, thanks, Erda! I didn't even realize it was a clue!
n ite, cybernan
wow une - i've only ever seen museum pieces in museums!
okay, I'm outta here. a tiny 146 to go tomorrow *cross eyes*

nite stid
The Picasso was actually in the home of Frank Oppenheimer (Robert's brother), and when I started gushing over it, his wife said: "Yes, his father had a very good eye for up-and-coming artists..."
now 145 to go, thanks Jill! ;-)
uh oh - sorry!
nite stid - and yw :(
i would have been in major gush mode in that situation too, erda!
lol - wow erda! so tell us a little more about yourself . . .
I always wondered where that madonna ended up...
I am an opera and classical music person, currently retired. Had a friend who was a nuclear physicist -- hence the Oppenheimer connection.
thought maybe you yourself were the physicist
did you sing, Erda? Is it Erda as in the Ring Cycle?
oh no -- conversation between the two men went whizz over my head...
Yes, melon, a major Wagner fan here...
NDidn't sing. Was editor of the San Francisco Opera magazine for 20 years. Accumulated a lot of knowledge there and that's why they called me Erda...
sigfried was the first opera i ever saw
I played opera here in Cleveland for over 20 years. We did Meistersinger in 1995, I think. It was the only Western hemisphere production that year.
does anyone have the third eight? not the an or the ca?
Geez, that's a difficult start. It's probably my favorite Ring opera.
The worst thing about playing it - counting all the &*(*&% rests!
I'm a fan of "What's Opera, Doc?" by Warner Brothers.. also like real opera, but have minimal exposure. Nice to meet you, Erda!
next i saw denise graves in carmen - that one kept me awake - lol
My favorite opera is Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro" - believe it or not, for a bassist, it's harder than wagner. The 2nd act finale is 12 pages of nonstop allegro.
Nice to meet you too, Neil
elp.. dont have the first two 8's
neil, if i were in SF right now, I'd be looking for Chorus Line tix!
The second act finale is one of the glories of western civilization
what's the 3rd 8?
Weirdest Opera experience - actually 2 of them: Playing Schoenberg's "Moses & Aron" @ Univ of Cincinnati. Then there was Staurt Copeland's "Holy Blood & Crescent Moon".
whats the first two 8's?
if only i knew, roc. can clue the an/8 and ca/8 if needed.
back to Mozart - yes, Erda, exactly.
except i'm not very good at clues!
elphaba, fabulous icon!
thanks!
Une... I saw Chorus Line at its London premiere (yes, I'm that old). I have been seriously considering buying tix for the current SF run.
those two are weird indeed, melon!! Tough and weird...
let's not talk "old"--I saw it SEVERAL times in its first incarnation! :-)
roc can u clue an/8 and cn/8
Gotta run -- I'll try this thing again tomorrow. Thanks for the chat...
crazy, both are past tense of 6 letter words
bye fellow art lover!
hello, just got the op8/50 on a guess.. it's two words...
bye, Erda - it was nice talking opera.
ty chic :)
cool. thx chic
thanks chic! that did it.
51 to go
219 to go
crud, i just realized that e in the upper left has nine words. drat those vowel words! always stumping me.
86 to go
i suck
hey there's a chinese word in here
got the last 8 - tx chic!
those of you who use lickety's clues ... do you type things in here and then there? do you have a system for 'em? it seems like a lot of double typing, but i wonder if i'm doing it wrong.
oooh - & that got me to haslfway! thasitimouttahere! 'nite, laila tov, all.
night, melon!
laila tov melon - gnight all - see you tomorrow
finally got that an8
good nite melon
elphaba, I'm sure everybody uses the lists differently but I try to find all the words I can first and then print out the list and fill it in from there...
thanks, chic. printing does seem like it would help.
i don't type in all the words but sometimes it turns out to be plenty when i need to try to narrow down my search alphabetically
i pull up lickey's clues on a separate window - i use the "rpintable clues" option. then i make that window really tall & skinny so it's always in view. I even use a separate browser for them - not sure why but it works.
no elph - what i do is find all the words i can by myself then go to the list & depending on how many i need, checkmark the fewest - those i have or those i need
i don't search the owrd list bc it bores the daylights out of me.
then erase the checks when i find the words - no need to double type
i can't ytpe! 'nite!
lol mel -nite
thanks to all - good ideas all 'round. i've been using it letter by letter when I get fed up, but not sure how well that's working!
'nite hk - - & out...
g'night Une and everyone... don't know if I'll be back soon, but I do love the Babble! Cheers!
nite sf

nite, helen!
nite, all and I'm out!
I think that Dr. God should make the fireworks go boom instead of just look pretty. I like them, don't get me wrong, they are the *bestest* but, I think they should go kaboom anyway. :-) Done!

must one be inebriated to sleep tight?
Anymore clues for the op8 please?
Build on OP 4/5, Maddie.
Firtst part is the opposite of closed, the second part, the members of a play or tv series.
not closed; plus, the group name for the actors in a play

Good morning, back again. It's wet here again today - a good excuse to stay in and do the puzzle!
Good morning Haz Rather a large one today.
Hi Haz - I have made an early start today as at home nursing our Bobby who has had his (second) operation for kneee ligament repair (yes' I can't spell that cr word!). He is a very miserable dog.
cruciate? Nasty for both of you! And good morning FMItch - lots of words, you're right!
Good morning everyone.....going to be in and out today , sadly it has to be housework day, but it helps enormously if I kepp coming back and doing a little more !!!
Good morning Karys - we'll keep looking for the happy cat face.

That's right, leave me here.
awwww, Haz - surely someone will show up!
Sorry Haz :( I'll be back later Night jilli
I hope so. Anyway, have a good sleep jillibus and the British contingent - see you later.
All the Australians will be on soon ! 6.30 pm here. Now that is a scary thought.
think of all the lovely words you'll get, Haz, without anyone to bother you - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Very reassuring, lynxxx!
Night jillibus (those zzzz don't fool me, you've tried that trick before) Sleep well.
zzzzzzo
Hello Munner - how are you?
I'm at 202 and it's 4:30 am here. Maybe I will finally fall asleep. My hands did that last word with no direction frome me.
Two days of steroids to avoid problems with the chemo treatment I had yesterday keeps me from sleeping. Two hours last night, but I think I can drop off now. See you all later for my last 33.
See you later, Munner - hope you manage to get some sleep.
Munner - wishing you at least 3 hours tonite - goodnite
Always enjoy chatting with you night owls. Too bad it's a big time difference.
may your recovery be expeditious and complete
It's a much slower pace at this time, the British are just waking up and the US folk are half-asleep. The Australians keep us on our toes!
Muner - just read your bio - you're doing it tough so pls keep a strong and positive mind. Been there myself and it IS amazing what they can do for you.
lynxxx - that e in the top corner is being very resistant to revealing any words to me. How are you getting on with it?
I think I've got five from there - try joining up with the co4 &5s for some
Thanks for the push!
Break time - halfway - got to carry the puppy outside!
Give him a cuddle from me - and I hope he gets better soon.
hello everyon!!
everyone... everyone... everyone...(practice typing)
Hello mrpresident! Are you well?
Hello Haz... well as a hole in the ground! and you??
hellooo.
I'm fine thanks. Doing my first run through with the grid. I suppose you're nearly done?
Hello scv!
I am no where near done!! first run is not my style... I like to begin at the end... habit unfortunately... and so far the T's are a b***h!!
and what is a te6/27??? is it a tactic to get people to drink tea??
I like to get as many words as possible, then use the list to fill in the gaps - though I go from the beginning of the alphabet. There are some nice words today.
I'll have to find that one. (You've given a word away, but shhhh there's nobody going to worry)
shhhh!!! *sorry*
I've found it, thanks to more words. They're all the rage among the tw4/8 set.
morning all, oh a biggie today. and so many C's !!!
Good morning M3. I hadn't looked properly to see how many, but you're right, lots and lots of them.
tw4/8 set?? is it something I missed in my personality??
hi everyone!
hello fran and M3!
hi mrp!
tw4/8 - ladies who like things to be 'nice' in a frilly, feminine sort of way. te6/27, being a table for tea, would fit right into their world.
ah!!! thank you Haz!
tits
pardon?
oh, sorry!! what a follow up!!
is anyone else finding the word input very slow?
tw4/8 ladies wouldn't say that word!!!
thanks for that te6/27 mrp and haz!
You're welcome FranMag.
oh Haz, I am definitely not a TW!!
Hi all! It's slow for me too, Fran
hi amanda!
me as well.
Good morning amandacath.
hiya everyone
tw4/8 is a interesting word!
hi jen!
I must be getting better at this i had 3 7's in a row yeah, i remember seeing 7's at one point and kringing
Do you not use tw4/8 very much? We would use it to describe a style of decorating or dressing - it's very useful!
i've seen it in the grids, but didn't know what it meant until now. i've never heard it in a conversation!
Hello Jencatd - sorry to miss you there.
only time I use tw4/8 is to tell the owner what the cat went up
No worries, Haz. ^^
cute byz!
Morning/evening Haz, Fran, mrp and all. I think 235 are just a few too many for me. 20odd re's, millions of c's - it would become a chore (?) rather than a pleasure
hi exwren!
morning ExWren!! et al
Hello ex-Wren. You can visit us throughout the day to keep up morale.
only a handful of stupid C's... the t's are dumb!! and apparently over nice at the same time!
the c's are gonna drive me bonkers. all roads lead to the same words, at least for me. i guess im too tired.
Oh yes, I will be calling on you from time to time
scv, you ca4 give up!!
How can you get over 40 words from that single 'c'?
there are 2
you could always just say ci4 to the grid and go italian style!!
oh I will just shut up now! :D
ok, i've read that four times and i still dont understand what it means.
I hadn't seen the Italian word, so keep going mrpresident!
OH
italian is good chow
and i already had it. see? tired! its after 5 am.
surley someone who uses an Ipod is a poder!! lol

who needs help before i turn in
who do I dispute a word to?
Try us first chuck.
oh go on chuck!! we love a dispute!!
I tried casted and a message said it is not found in the dictionary
yeah seriously
:Dispute :Dispute :Dispute !!! the more I type it, the stupider the word looks! It isn't in the dictionary cause it aint in the grid :D
The past tense of cast is cast.
cast is cast
yeah seriously
REALLY need to go to bed
the past tense of ca** is ca** as in they ca** the play
oh, that's embarrasing, I need to relearn the English language
night night scv... !! haz, you said a word!!!
It's okay, chuck. And sorry mrpresident!
oh im not going yet im not even half way done. though ill never get to finish anyway. working all day tomorrow
*sorry* myself!!
(although I must admit, I think I use the -ed ending when talking about having assigned roles...)
i think thats what was going through my head after i read the comment
Just hit the halfway mark thanks to the great clues. ty all.
or you've casted the injury
plastered the injury...?? cast the injury
ok, since no one seems to need help im going to bed
ah, stuff it!! babble just ain't playing our game!
nite nite chj!!
chj - thanks for your company. Sleep well!
good luck to you all and may you all experience a pyrotecnic display
hah, apparently you weren't the first to dipute casted. just reading the log.
the re5/18 and re6/18 allow you to soak it again!!
And was the same conclusion reached, scv?
of course
alea iacta est
MrP, do you mean re5/18 and 6/30, or do I need a second damp re?
sorry amanda!! you got it
no prob, just checking
the last re5,12.. only a name or a word as well?
I really should be feeding my family.... but the grid is too big to leave right now!! starve them... feed them...???
Feed them mrpresident. You know it makes sense.
ah!! you are right Haz! I will be back later! bye all and happy babbling! **anyone for toasted sandwiches??**
Think of them writing their memoirs in future. 'Our mother didn't feed us because she was too busy playing computer games'
well i just answered my own question. sorry.
my eulogy will include... died trying to finish the grid!:D
Phone - back soon.
Hi everyone, boy, I'm struggling to reach the halfway mark today. Words are not popping out.
ac7/36 please?
Good morning PappouTed.
Hi haz, I only have a few minutes left before I have to start getting ready for work. Today's the 2nd day of school.
ac plus no4/5 for ac6 then pluralise.
I take it you're a teacher, then PappouTed? The start of term is always very busy.
2nd day of school already? terrible!
I need two more j's - any idea what I'm missing?
We start early in Florida
tyvm Haz!!
thats crazy
amanda - I'm distinctly lacking in the j department.
Amandacath - ji4.9 - 3 vowels
ac6 please?
thanks lynxx, that was one of them
next year we won't start till the end of Aug. Theme parks lobbied and won.
1/3 done. another terrible.
see clue from Haz at 4.52
oh..whopps..i meant the other one please?
thats strange. isn't that a more touristy thing than a local thing? or is it normal to visit regularly if you're in the area?
There's another ac6 that I have - ac6/21 - add plural of what Americans call ca**.
ac5/12 is the singular. (ac plus half of Belgian boy detective)
ac5/12 - if thespians went on strike, they might have one of these
je 5/30 ?
thanks lynxxx! that was the last J i needed.
M3 - yucky word for bargaining down the price
I have never heard of the word being used in that way!
...which I'd never heard until I moved to the Deep South, might I add
amanda sorry still can find it!!
rhymes with what you did with your teeth
Well, I have 130 words to go. It will give me something to do tonight. Think positive thoughts that none of my kinders will cry today.
Make a past tense of the nationality.

But that means it's easy!

Good point Maddie!
you know, amanda, it is true and I am culturally a jew, religiously an agnostic...so I should know better than to type before I think

does anyone havve a clue for the na6.21 - 'it' doesn't like what I have suggested.
lynxxx, i have a na6/21 that rhymes with a construction adhesive.
MADDIE! go on msn for a minute
thanks Fran
ends in a facial muscle spasm
yw lynxxx!
fun clues, fran!
got it - was doing all those letters but not in right order
thanks pam!
Today, i am having better luck with phantoms than with the grid
i don't see how i could still need 15 four letter words!!
Have a nice day all...
bye pam!
are you off, Pam?
I need break - I can' t do all this adding up of points any longer !! too late in the day/nite. Bye.
bye lynxxx!

not a popular move pam!
have a nice day then!
LOL--c*** for now!

tits
OPPS SORRY EVERYONE
How is everyone finding the grid?
hello
it's okay aleksia, a little slow going, but i'm still finding words.
hi alex
ok
I've resorted to the list - there are some very odd words in there
i'm getting ready to do the same amanda...really strange?
I've got to 162, have now filled in the list and will fill in the gaps later.
ac word help please
i got to 184 so far, going to the list now.
Alex, have you just started?
I'm on 70
i do as many as i can then check on lickety
alex, i may not have them all, ac + metal for cans and its plural
thanks
how many in total/
235
Good Morning Everyone!!
235
good morning , peri.
so-so, Fran. So far I've been able to find everything by adding up the values, but I'm only up to the ca's...
and everyone else. ;-)
Morning Peri!
only another 150+ to go
hi peri!
good day!
hi wolvie!
morning, Fran - nice grid today. Small one yesterday.
I'm taking a break - back later.
this one is definitely tougher than yesterday.
later haz!
hi cliffopa!
Anyone know what the 8's start with?
its been quite a while since i attempted to complete a grid this large.
I let out a big le sigh that it wasn't 300 words - those can take awhile. :-)
Peri - a, c, o for the 8's
thanks amanda, clues please
I an8 your question, the horse ca8 - working on the o....
The O has to do with mining.
thanks amanda, Sue will search for the O, thanks
Hi Sue! Is that what it means?
I have the o8, just trying to think of a clue that won't spell it out
Hi Amanda. Yes - some mining was done this way - on the surface - and other mining was down a shaft.
amanda, I will take the clue that spells out the O :-)
oh, is it the same as strip-mining?
ahhh - different than most of us WV folks remember the term. Still works.
what is the second letter of the o8 pease
I'm sure you would Peri, but that's no fun! Unshut Samsonite?
Amanda - yes!
op** + ca**
good day everyone!
Evening Everyone
well, that was a new word for me (the op 8/50)!
Evening!
nasty thing, that sort of mining
Good Afternoon fellow Babblers....are we all well?.....I do hope so!!
Hello Everyone!!
Hi MrPresident
Hi Flask, and anyone else I haven't greeted. How was dinner, MrP?
o/8 also like when a movie is looking for a lot of extras, they have an o......
Hi mrperisdent
found the o8/50 - compound word, thanks
hi tiny, sue, chyna, flask, allstar!
hello all
Hi Fran!
allstar, your clue would have helped me earlier :)
hello Tiny!! amanda, dinner was just devine!! takeaway Indian! Hi aleksia!
hello to all fran said, plus mr pres, et al. ;-)
hello wolvie!
No toasted sandwiches afterall, I see
Good morning everyone. So far I'm enjoyng this one. It's feeling like fall this morning. Fastest summer I've ever experienced and I can't figure out if it's because it rained all of June or if it's part of getting older. Time does seem to move more rapidly.
sorry peri, I just got it myself : 0
hi eva!
hi Fran!
ok, I am over the N hump and onto the J's, (as I work backwards!) so will be looking for clues all too soon!
Hi eva!
you never know about new england weather eva - always keeps us guessing.
Hi cliff-yes I'm sure we will have plenty of hot weather still, but this morning has that hint of autumn
hi mrp!
anbody have the first set of ep's?
you can say that again eva and hi
e + pa4 and plural
boy - don't I wish we had a hint of autumn. A humid 71 here, will be mid 90's at least today.
I'm about to have more tomatoes than any human being could reasonably want. Why did I plant so many? Does anyone have recipes for salsa that they love?
hi Tiny
Thanks MrP
eva, there is a great recipe place called recipezaar.com... that shall help you much so!
thanks for the reference mrp!
Eva,you might want to check out: allrecipes.com or hungrymonster.com for
jits
sorry!
Eva - one thing I do - freeze tomatoes. I grow about 200 plants every year. Another good recipe place is cook's talk - taunton.com, from fine cooking
Wolvie, just love your icon
hungry monster - haven't seen that one. Will check it out (not eva, I know)
Peri - isn't it cute? It's title is pole dancer. ;-0
Oh my god wolvie-200 plants!!! You must have a huge freezer. I don't have much freezer space and what I have is already taken up by endless amounts of pesto (also went overboard on the basil)
Wolvie, just adorable
eva - there is no such thing as too much pesto. ;-)
ok, what T can I possibly be missing???
I love pesto, I am growing basil on my balcony
I've got 12 tomato plants and I'm going to be over whelmed in a week or so.
That being said - you could also can - which I do. A pressure cookier makes it less nasty work.
cooker - I wish I could type.
Didn't know you could freeze tomatoes
I know, I feel the same way....but I'm going to have to start giving it away because of the space problem. I haven't canned anything for about 30 years. I was always afraid of poisoning all my nearest and dearest.
I make a roasted tomato sauce and freeze that. It's marvellous with pasta and makes a good base for casserole dishes.
Haven't gotten to the t's yet, MrP...
if you 2 are having that big a problem you can send them to me : ) I love both and planted none. just too busy this spring
great idea sue!
i'm not babbling but passing through. can pesto be frozen?
peri - I bought a little italian press thingie - it takes out the se**s, and removes the peel - leaving just the pulp. Or you can freeze them whole - they are only good for sauces and such, but it works really well.
definitely MM.
Ugh even if I'm not playing i need to get that stupid liver out of my icon
Thanks Fran. I have basil a friend gave me and I thought about making some.
thanks for the tip Wolvie
lol musicmom, i don't mind!
what is icon today?? (too bloody lazy to look it up, sorry!)
mm - you can put bits in an ice tray, pot out what you need
Disgusting!
Sue, roasted tomatoe sauce sounds yummy
Wolvie - that is a great idea! Thanks.
today is vacations, where you like to vacation.
pesto freezes beautifully and will last for years. A friend of mine deals with the space problem by making up the pesto with just the basil, oil and nuts-leaving out the cheese. She puts the mixture into ice cube trays. That way when she wants pesto she just takes out as many cubes as she needs and adds the parmesan then
that's a common tip i always see too, the ice tray thing.
ah! will go hunting for vacation spots!
I have a sort or newbie question - who sets the theme for the day, and where do I find it?
I love this chatbox - it is a wealth of information. thanks all. I have to hit the yoga mat. May be back later to play.
Eva - that's the best way I know.
Have a great day everyone.
wolvie, babbler keeps track of them, but suggestions come from everyone.
hi and bye musicmom!
link is on lickety's page. on the right.
ahhh. I will look for a pic of my spot
time for my walk, see you all later
today's was my suggestion in fact!
later peri!
bye mm and peri!
ci4 peri!
I am off to bed Early start tomorrow Good Night All
nite tiny!
nite Tiny! sleep good!
bye tiny!
Thank You All God Bless
I haven't seen sprite for a while, is she around lately??
She's on holiday Mr P.
ah!! thanks sue!
My pleasure.
I like your icon wolvie :)
thanks, shorty. :-)
OK, I am done!! *~*~*~FIREWORKS!~*~*~*
Oh dear! The server's on a go-slow. Think I'll come back later.

Hi FranMag.
Hi Wolvie.
Well done, MrP!
Hi Jac and thanks!
ti5/12 anyone?
good going mr p
A clue please for AC7?
ac7 ac+no5/12
thanks mrp, needed that too!
thanks MrP
yw! time to open the wine!! bbl
A colour or tint, Amanda. There's also the plural. You might normally expect to hear the word with ure on the end.
amanda, ti/5 12: Colored lightly or faintly; tinged.
Sue - you beat me too it. ;-)
sue said a woooooord!! hehehehe
thanks sue and wolvie!
oops-sue you included a word in you clue(-:
Drat! Sorry.
so odd to see "Sue" - that's my first name as well. ;-)
Ahhh, thanks Sue and Wolvie - I thought about that one, but couldn't twist the letters around correctly. That's Fireworks for me!
yay amanda!!!
well poo - congrats tho, amanda. ;-0
Well done Amanda.
amandacath gets *~*~*~FIREWORKS!~*~*~*
morning, all. perfectly lovely grid today...
ok wait. she asked for ti 5/12. unless im missing one none of them were 12 points?
have to go and feed the furry beast. For some reason this morning he decided to do his starvation act at 6 am. I've made him wait this long, but mymouse hand is in jeopardy. back soon
You're missing one, allstar.
allstar: Colored lightly or faintly; tinged. that's the ti/5 12
ok thnks
later eva!
Morning Angelsong. Yes, this is just the sort of grid I like to get my teeth into.:)
hi angelsong!
i'm down to 22, but fading, see you all later or tomorrow!!
Okay, FranMag. see you later.

Hi Angel!

sewed

thanks
thanks jac
test
not again - sorry sorry
thats it im calling it a day until i can get my cursor in the right place!
I'm off too. happy Babbling!
bye sandr and amanda!
any clues for je5/30 please?
je5/30 - first three letters, religious person; last two letters, make it past tense.
Many thanks Daisy Eric. Would never have found that!
je5/30 - obsolete (offensive) term for haggling or bargaining to get the price down.
(psst, hydra, it's me, Babbler!) ; )
I'm doing my 30 min challenge. I'm only 5 mins in...
Babbler - Why are you disguised today?
i am surprised to see the je5 in the grid... as jac says, it is offensive.
not disguised, Jac, just created a new non-Pro account so I can part play a puzzle. If I did that as 'Babbler', I'd deffo slip off the rankings page asap!
Good idea, Babbler! LOL
I put my new id in my profile over there and I've been introducing myself.
Good idea, babbler. I often play part of one and I'm way down the list, having started near the top! All because I got to 25 words one day and a visitor arrived!
wasn't my idea, I have to say, it was another player, Ache, who got me thinking.
ahhh - that is a good idea - a lot of times I can't get back to the puzzle.
Oh Lord! Looks like the membership is about to double! LOL.
I can't play entire grids cos of my RSI and stuff, and I do miss it. So I'm gonna play 30 min challenges - see how many I get in 30 mins. ; )
have to leave - off to get a new driver's license. bbl, I hope.
'Bye for now, Wolvie.
laters, Wolvie : )
Sorry to hear of the RSI, babbler. Have you tried arnica gel? It works on my arthritis and damaged ligament. Takes the pain away for a good 24 hours, sometimes more.
I can still see the stats as I only created this account a few days ago. I'm looking forward to no stats - then it will be like the old days!
hydra - I have fibromyalgia, so the RSI I have is a complicated beastie! I think I've tried arnica as a tablet, not a get. I've heard good things about it.
Right, I've put all the obvious words in and that's left me with 102 to find. I'm off to do some work now. I shall look at the grid more seriously later. Babbler, sorry about your RSI. I can see why the 30 minute challenges are a good idea for you. Glad you'll still be here to play.x
right now, I'm cooking with a lot of turmeric (nature's pain killer). I found that makes a difference.
thanks Jac : ) (remember when I had pains going up to my face after a really big grid and you were helping me?) Enjoy your afternoon and see you later : )
anyone know what the 8s begin with pls? thx
8's are an, ca, op
thanks spellit : )
just done - fireworks
congratulations! : )
ooh, got the op!
Any clues needed before I go and make a cup of tea?
75 words at the end of my 30 min challlenge, 1 x 8, 2 x 7; 2 x cups of tea and some chat. .... brb as Babbler
I'm ok thanks, Spellit. Go get your well deserved tea! : )
Cheers Babs - I must send you an email
okee dokee! (what are you going to write?? ooooh, exciting!) :D
Not too exciting I'm afraid!
you know to write to Babbler _ 2006, right? (take out spaces)
I'll reply to your last message - that's OK I guess
yep, (just remembered the password for that one, lol!)
As to Je***, the dictionary doesn't make value judgements. A word is a word. Another word with a similarly objectionable root is 'gypped' but I suppose we don't think about its origin anymore.
yes jeanne you're right, of course...it just surprises me to see it
Hi Babbler/Daisy Eric, Jacula, Spellit. I have decided not to play today, too many re's and ca's!
ExWren, LOL!!
Hi Une, didn't see you there
hi ex wren. : )
oh, hi Une! : )
Hi Ex-Wren - it's not so bad - lots of plurals, and er and ed endings
hey, babbler!
why did there have to be 235 words today??? no way I can finish before I have to load up the car with kids and luggage for vacatgion!

good moring by the by
If you play pretend on stage, you ac* - now plural
now I got the darn word
ch that wasn't the one, it is what teens get on their faces and then women in the 40's too
and women in their 50's from time to time, phandmd! :)
terrific, I have that to look forward to as well
Good afternoon all. I am back for more.
now about that the ac 6 & 7 pair?
Did I mention thinning hair, creaky joints, hot flashes, crankiness too ??
Hi Jacula!
like the skin thing ph
back to say hi!!
ends in type of poetry
hi
Hey MrP!

hi mrpresident
LOL,ch1212.
and seano..... i am the same as you
ac 6 & 7 clues pls?
Dorens...some of the colors! it's the closest I could get to my parents little cabin (since I'm at *ahem* work) & don't have a pix of the actual cabin...
seano - you could do as I am & just chat 8 )
ot6?
hi MrP!!!!
i did ph....like the skin thing...end is type of poetry
singular and dplural
oh, I didn't realize that was a clue Dorens, sorry. Looking now
i do chat...but then you see one word, then another, and before you know it it is midnight with 20 to find........
EasternBlue *rubs eyes* is that you?? I haven't seen you forever!!
well seano, i said i'd do one hour....then it went to let's end with 100 left-----now it's 73 left and i really SHOULD get out and about now
seano- to avoid temptation, I minimize my windo & then scroll so I can only see the chat part...that way I'm not 'teased' by the grid...
go on dorens...you can do it...no pain no gain
smart blue, but the lure of the grid, oh the lure of the grid
{{{{{MrP}}}}}}} it is!! it has been awhile...work has been much, much busier lately (I'm in denial today) & then it's summertime so weekends are spent outdoors a bit more!!
*lalalalalala* I can't hear you Dorens!! ; )

good to see you too MrP...my sis, bro-in-law & kids were in your neck of the woods in June/July....
they loved it!!
oh good!!!! glad they enjoyed it!! :D
ae 5?
just monkeyed a great word. it isn't really a word, but would be so much fun to clue. picnic pest got married..
Not playing today, just lurking. Of course, as soon as I made that decision, I could see lots of words without really thinking about it, but I am NOT tempted, too many re's and ca's!
ae 5 = ae + plus last three letters of South America's majestic mountain range
as *tempting* as that clever clue might be to enter...before I DO get sucked into grid...I best get back to work....{{{ Hugs to all }}}
but the ca's are fun and easy honestly exwren
bye blue
thanks munner
sure thing
ExWren - do like Babbler did and set up a no pro a/c just so you can have the fun of finding words, you could make a an re free zone
great clue, thnx
I just can't see how you can get 40+ words out of that solitary C
two different C's
13 from one, 29 from the other....and i have 21/29 without working hard
i have only 4 c's to get
I'm blind, didn't see that one lurking in the bottom corner Dorens
I've still got 8 c's to find.

Flask, LOVE your icon!! LOL!

te6/21?
Flask, I'm trying to fit your lovely icon into favourite holiday places--is yours a chippie--anywhere?
I need those da 6 & 7 too.
phandmd - da^ & plural 7 (Hindi word) - member of a robber gang in India or Burma.
thx Jac
No Hetty....its Spanish!
da6: da + thrird letter + 4th vowel + third vowel & lastely what the first letter of what the ball rests on for a field goal
(Word sounds a little like the US city where cars and music are made.
Yes, Jacula, and the city with the #1 crime rate, depending on the year ... it changes with Washington DC from time to time :(
thanks Jacula and Byzantine
less than 100 words to go! I'lll bbl
Oh dear, ch!
yeah but they have a kick ass baseball team!
and hockey
yeah!!!
My beloved and I noticed that just a mile away in Windsor, Canada the crime rate PLUMMETS. So there is definitely a connection... And yes, the city has some wonderful aspects too!
Glad to hear it's not all bad!
shmoozanne - would share the te 6/21 if I had it, but I need both te 6 words.

Geez, 235?!?
hetty -- like the first de4/5 but swap the last two letters
Thanks, stilling
One te6/21 (which is all I have so far) sounds like a place. *Singing now - When I walked out in the streets of La***, when I walked out in La*** one day, I spied a poor cowboy all wrapped in white linen...*
Oooh, now do "El Paso" by Marty Robbins!
LOL, frazer_not_crane.
great clue jacs!
*tunes up geetar*
The te6/21 I clued is a ship worm.
(join in ) Down in the west Texas town of El Paso, I fell in love with a Mexican girl...
Oh, Jac, isn't that Marty Robbins?
Thanks, Jac. I reallly neededto know that
A white sport coat and a pink carnation, I'm all dressed up for the dance...
Woohoo!
Out in the West Texas town of El Paso I fell in love with a Mexican girl. Night-time would find me in Rosa's cantina; Music would play and Felina would whirl. Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina, Wicked and evil while casting a spell. My love was deep for this Mexican maiden; I was in love but in vain, I could tell. One night a wild young cowboy came in, Wild as the West Texas wind. Dashing and daring, A drink he was sharing With wicked Felina, The girl that I loved.
My favorite song to bust out on slow karaoke nights!
Will that do?
The young people hate it and the oldsters swoon!
You mispronounced "wind" ... it's "wiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnndddddd"
!! Wonderful!! I saw Marty Robbins in concert years ago. I didn't like CW music at the time but wanted to treat my poppa. Marty's concert helped change my mind.
Sorry frazer! LOL
I learned that song flying to Paris as an 11-year-old. I think the Air France people thought it was what Americans liked to hear over and over.
For the 'Streets Of L' song, I was thinking moe of Johnny Cash or Hank Williams jnr.
LOL!
My other half got his Dad the Marty Robbins Gunfighter Ballads cd for Xmas last year. He had it on vinyl but couldn't play it in the car, of course. I think we've got a copy somewhere, too.
te6/27 - a small table for holding cups, saucers and what you brew the beverage in.
Clue for the in 6/18. With only a couple hours sleep last night, my brain is protesting.
In fact, if you change the last letter of the beverage brewer to the sometimes vowel, you have the very word!
Thank you Jac, that's a new word for me.
inborn, possessed at birth
that's a clue for the in6/18
Thanks, Une. I needed that one.
Une, I had thought of that one earlier but didn't double the consonant
help me please
Afternoon all........grandchildren (all 5) just gone home..now its my time..yipee

{{{munner))) good news. you are always in my prayers
my tummy was okay (yesterday) giving me fits today, though! *grin* I probably deserve it for eating too many berries...
But, munner, the clue you somkindly gave was for the "ep" I already had. Do you have a clue for the other one?
Hetty - Goodness! Stabbing someone with a rubber dagger has to be the weirdest romantic intro ever.:)
shmoozannne re6...a colour +what people on the stage do then plural
hetty, there are clues for both sets if you scroll back a bit
Hi Hurshy.

ty, got it
Do you have an elbow that is renowned throughout Japan, Stid?
Jacula, you need to have the pics stored online somewhere to put them in BabAnon. but there are many good hosting sites that are free.
one of my favorite films of the last 20 years
37 left to go. I'll save those for tonight. I'll finish the ironing, feed the pets and us and then I WILL type up the travelog (IF I can re4/5 my own handwriting).
no, I didn't get to see topsy turvy yet...
And is your left shoulderblade a miracle of loveliness?
Hursy its an op / 8
..."do you still have an elbow that is renowned throughout Japan, Stid?" so...is this a good or bad time to come in? XD
hey miya
you would be astonished at the loveliness of my shoulderblades!
Hello all

I'm sure we all would, Stid
hi miyavi! I think it's safe --

Hi miya, Stid was claiming to be Katisha
Hi ladynoire and hi miyavi
I will go get it at the soonest opportunity, chj -- Tom was in two productions of the Mikado, and Matthew was in one with him! It was so much fun.

hetty, I bet that was a hoot -- there were often high school students in the G&S productions Tom did, and they were so enthusiastic and fun.
hello all.
hurshy i think you mean the oc4/5
the first in5/10 i have is when something is put in the middle of something else

Well the physics teacher who played the Mikado was a hoot--forgot his lines and kept mumbling about twisted cues.
hi charm
Only one hurshy
folks i'm afraid the one you are cluing (oc4/5) comes from the top O
any clues for the te6/21?
Hi, Annie
yay shmoo
speaking of which, I'm becoming adept at giving and receiving twisted clues---
still dahlias, rose campion, the fringed double shasta daisies from my great-great grandmother's garden, mums (bloomed early this year), roses and a few re-seeding annuals.
Hurshy(I think) gave a great clue for the te 6/21
Oh i can see it comes from both o s hurshy
Okay, need to drink my tea or I won't be able to go to the art museum with Mother and the boys today.
no i didn't, i don't have it yet
yes but if you read my guide to boxes, caitlyn, in my profile, you will see the problem
the other o from the left also has to do with the ear..its an inflammation of the ear
Perhaps youneed the ot6/21
now that's more like it! :)
oh oh oh i need the ot 6/21
*flicks the babble grid* NASA is a word. Moron.
NASA is an acronym, with all caps of proper nouns, Miyavi...
ot 6/21 think ear problems
{{{{Stid}}}}
she knows, stid, she's just being...some word i can't think of
yes, but Stiiiiiid~ It's not faiiiiir...
ot + the ****bank building on 53rd street in nyc with the slanted roof but backwards
Hurshy, would "pedantic" do?
Is a hint for the second in 6/21 out there somewhere?

LOL
imbecilic?
i was thinkin gof a noun, actually... something yiddish maybe?
desperate.
it's on the tip of my tongue...

Hurshy, Hurshy... a mensch is like...well, it's like an...um... Wow, look over there! *points wildly and flees*
A mensch is literally a person, but it means a person who is relilable, can be trusted.
a mensh is a wonderful standup person
hetty is a mensch....
Erev Tov Stidmama.

te6/21...te + re4/5
YAY Ouwachita!
Hurshy, no Yiddish word for impish person -- words for foolish(shmendrick), accident-prone (shlemiel) etc
te + color of clifford the dog + * my goodness
Just popped back to see my name --gee Stid, blush blush-- someone did call me a mensch once but I thought it was because I made him laugh---

torgone, glad you're here. Any objections to my naming the brother of one of the main characters "Tor"?
like goodbye i italian
yup got it thanks
Not at all stid .. an honor ..
okay, now Miyavi is just being WEIRD.
thanks, whoever gave me the last in 6/21. Your clue gave it to me cuz I sure wasn't seeing it in the grid. 3 to go!
also, o'chita, i need one of the 3 I's in the fourth row. i have the pics by our names and the greek letter...
Mensch refers to a well rounded , humane person of etierh sex
miya is mostly weird :)
i think she's proud of that :)
thanks Torgone, will go work on the genealogy then,
(inge, I half- qualify -- got the "well-rounded" bit down! LOL)
hurshy...try ic5/14 with two fo the third letters of the alphabet
We wouldnt know miyavi if she wasnt being wierd
LOL Stid - me too!
wow, thanks o'chita, crazy word.
I mean weird!!
how about N from the fourth row besides baby lice and boys name plural?
O_O *chokes* WELL! I have been called SOME things in my life, but never...never have I been insulted in this way! I am a NORMAL person! If you were to look up normal in the dictionary, there would be a picture of me! My address is 10 Normal Street, Normalville, Normal-on-Sea!
Well--well-rounded I most certainly am.Why is miyavi so weird?
and I am going to go get myself ready to head out. hetty, we are going to Lakewold Gardens in Tacoma today, then the Tacoma Art Museum (wonderful exhibit I saw earlier and want the kids to see), and maybe the Washington State History Museum... it's our "cultcha" day :-)
Hey - my boyfriend lives on Normal - you're neighbors! Small world!
you forgot Normalland, Planet Normal, in the Normal solar system, in the Normal galaxy...
sugoi ne...*fakes a grin* ...I don't get paid enough for this.
Lupe!!! *huggles* how are you?
hetty... observe and learn, there's no better way to an6 your question
That reminds me, anyone taken up my directive on the DVD "NORMAL"?
not so sure, Miyavi, your first name isn't "Abby" is it? Then you would be Abby Normal...

Hi feather
Good Miya - sneaking in for a bit.... I only chat when I recognize who's on...which is becoming less and less often - how are you??
oh dear, i finished 4's without noticing.
that's Frahnkensteen, Frau Blucher (neigh neigh neigh)
I am very glad that I am not normal...cause normal is WEIRD
well now Stid...that would just be ridiculous. my first name begins with C 8D
oh feather, I was just heading out. Will be back on quite late your time, but definitely hereish later...
love the icon stid! I want one!!
hello everyone
Ouwachita, I am choosing to not DIGNIFY that comment with an answer, also to eschew you with a firm foot on the commenting department; good day. Lupe, oh, you know me...I live life on the WILD side XD
lupe said a woooord...
puttin on the riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitz
hereish later....so definite!

Stid, have a lovely day with your family absorbing culcha and other weird things like that
bon vivant and man about town
oh, sweet mystery of life....
really really going now... later all, enjoy the grid! (lupe, I can make you one, but it will be later.... remind me next time you see me.)
i am SO not following these conversational threads, which makes it so much funnier
laters, Stid... Remember to be NORMAL.
bye, Stidmama
ok!! :-)
see ya stid!
is there one WR, or two?
Hurshy - I agree.
one
just one hurshy
Can you "eschew ":someone with anything? Thought it was an intrasitive verb
well Hurshy, the world is a twisted place. if it wasn't, children wouldn't exist
well, we all walk perpendicular to the ground, so in that sense we are normal
alright, then clue me up on the weirdest we.
miyavi...that must be some kind of kinky sex if you are all twisted in making children...lol
Hetty - probably, it is. Thinking before speaking isn't my strong point. Or any kind of point, since I walk past it daily going "pah, that's for looosers!"
miya is too young for this conversation...
Speak a little German, a little more Spanish, lots of English, but the Italian friend, buddy, pal is eluding me. Can't even find in on a2z
Ouwachita, consider your comments ESCHEWED. I was referring to MANKIND XD isn't that a beautiful word, 'mankind'? Made up of two different words, mank and ind... there are some mysteries that were not intended to be solved, eh?
1c4/5 te4/4
that's cause it's being spelled funny, munner, with "ae" instead of "ai"
what was that tor?
speaking of BEAUTIFUL... is there anything more beautiful than a beautiful, beautiful flamingo flying past a beautiful sunset, gliding on it's beautiful wings and carrying a beautiful painting in it's claws and also, you're drunk.
Never mind. didn't work .. I was te4/4ing an animated ic4/5 ..
hurshy is named "Munner's Babble Hero of the Day". and.....FIREWORKS!

that's good, hurshy - the brain is the most underused muscle in my house.
Frazer, let's just presume so. it's not like you'd notice if it didn't.
hmm... all my other muscles are the most underused muscles in my house...
got it, na6
I think you're probably doing better than me, Hurshy.
the most overused muscle in my house appears to be the gluteous maximus. Also the brain, since I will never know whether or not that was spelt right.

Hi, Unea, lynxxx
Frazer, well...my best friend and I had a big debate about that. We eventually developed a list with...I believe it's now 120 different names. (nice to know that our educations aren't going to waste, no?)
ah, that explains it, lynx
hey, charm
yay 98 left...not bad considering i had decided not to play
actually that's quite bad, seano... you've done a terrible job sticking with your decision :)
for which we applaud you, of course.
Hey, George Carlin would be proud, Miyavi.
Does the tile stat E 1/9 mean there are 9 words that start with that "e" or contain that "e"?
start with, frazer
nifty.
why thank you, Frazer XD ...I think. I'm sure there are better ways to waste time, though...like spending time with relatives, and such.

clue for ae5/12?
let's see, anyone have any weird A5 or A6 that aren't in a combo, besides ae5
ae5/12 sounds like greek underworld
the ca8 and op8 were clued just a few minutes ago, whitewitch.
whitewitch - there are lists that can help you. if you look at the links at the bottom of the page, you can either use "babblers anonymous" and go to the first post under "general", or you can go to "lickety's babble clues"
at5 = the top storage space in your house?
whitewitch - you should also use Licketys list - link at bottom
that's not weird, charm :)
an5/12 = I love watching the dog's and baby's an***s as they play together....
Thanks a lot guys.
ae greek underworld?
an5/12 = pl the a4/4 meaning before (or an** up in poker).
it's really ha, lmj643, but the ae5 just kinda sounds like it
na 6/21 please
an6/21 = double the 2nd vowel.
also not weird, charm :)
got it now hurshy, ty
sorry, hursh, batting 1000
now THAT sounds weird
hursh, that poker clue = past tense it....
no, you got it charm, it was the 6, 5 points!
yw - took me long enough, though, didn't it????
(i did past tense it with the 5, so i didn't try past tensing it that way.... stupid alt spellings)
Sorry, I gave up on the A's a while ago.....lol
aw, you'll get the hang of it :)
na6/21 = na + consonant + facial spasm.

last pa7 = pa + consonant + **** Turner of the great legs (better than mine)
thanks Hurshy
hursh, all your cogitating is hurting my head. lol

i need to find a word.
well one of them is definitely a T5 of some sort.
(it's from the right).
there are 2 from the right Hurshy
hursh - do you have te6.27 ?
now if it's 5/12 and 6/21 for the T and they're a combo, that would be nice, and that would mean i would need a c5/18...
Have you got a ts5/12 hurshy?
no, have not got te 6/27!!!

Hi, FMitch - thanks for that ts!

/Thank you Miyavi
ashhssljak, alskj, mmmm... (I believe the translation for this part is unnecessary. KUH-runch)
we took the low rent one star hotel root in europe...we were up at the crack of dawn and back at bedtime and spent so little time in the hotel we just wanted a place to sleep
cnan, it's vacations.
Good afternoon!
2nd we 5 pls
Hi all, ac6/24 and ac7/36 please
:) We used Rick Steve's book to help our planning and to keep the budget down. It helped that my beloved lived in Roma for a few years and had travelled all over, and speaks Italian.
evening, Krista!
Oh, lord , the DE's - will it never end?
ac + no4/5 and plural
Lady, short answer: no.
hi peri! ac + no4/5 and its plual
phandmd, plural of we4/8, or switch order of the last two letters
Waaaay too many ca words today.
Any clues for de6/24?
LOL Miyavi
ch...we got ot vernazza and went down to a bar near the wharf.. gianni's i think and they had a couple of buildings up above near the tower..in fact the back of our building looked out the back on the medit
Hi Miyavi, yes, I wasn't accounting for the rest of the world..good evening, night, etc. How are you?
lady just clued a few mins ago...
ch...we used rick steves almost exclusively
thought I did the plural
de**** in a church
speaking of Roma, is it just me who keeps seeing "vatican" in the puzzle? woooo~ I see DEAD PEOPLE...and by that I do not mean the pope.
Yes, we had hot tea there. We also climbed up the castle, and there were so many steps I took photos all the way back down, to prove to our friends that I actually walked them!
Can I see it again, please?
Miyavi, I've seen 'vatican' in the grid too.
thanks Fran, another new word(s) for me
oops! Sorry, Krista, I'm so set in my English-ish ways I actually read your post as 'good evening' >.< good afty! annnd, I'm fine thanks. How are you?
wr?
yw peri!
mm hot tea would be good about now
phand, first part of WWB wr***ling
aaah, so it's not just me. Also I keep wanting to put in... no wait, that's actually a word. BONUS 8D

You're set to "automatic translation," it sounds.
Afternoon/evening all! Have had several wonderful vacas in Italy, too.
235
now what word am I missing!!!!!?????
Ishablin, 235. please, don't hurt me.
best photo op in italy is the view in my icon (a little compressed though) which is up by the other tower on the path to corniglia
Funny story: There was an evening concert on Sunday night in Vernazza, on the plaza right next to the Catholic Church. The band was playing as Mass was starting. The priest was so angry he stormed out of the church and demanded the band stop playing until Mass was over. We (who were attending Mass in the church) sat stunned and disbelieving.
much as i'd love to hang out here tonight, think i'll go to the farm show
in6,21 ? can someone think of a way to clue this for me other than still together
be back in a bit, baby is fussing.
HI FRAN HI NRKII HI PHANDMD HI CHJ HI CH1212 HI PUPTONE HI EVANONUT HI LYNXX (yes, I"m shouting)
Nrk, something about a church?
Eva: and the difference is...?
And yes, the band did indeed stop!
hi all
in + ta 4/5
oh, I meant hi krista
I got caught up in krista's hellos
Hi Krista!
Hi KRISTA
miya - best not to comment on that
lady, de + what falls from an oak tree - R
hello krista
TY phand
...and then he preached about peace and tolerance, CH1212!
OH, major DUH
:D LOL - you got it, Krista!! Hi Puptone!
yw
ch...did you get to vernazza by train? the guide books all recommended against driving there, but we did...very wild, narrow, mountainous roads
I don't suppose you can tell me what I am missing?
It wasn't an angry shout, just wanted you to hear.
phandmd, you have the list?
Oh we trained and walked everywhere. I can't imagine driving! (Admires chj's bravery)
yes, I am checking it
Okay, I'm quieting down now. Thanks for letting me monopolize the log for a few minutes. Anyone need clues?
hi krista!
ooh! fell behind and was just reading the post about the priest yelling...that made me smile. That's like God coming down from heaven and saying "stop taking my name in vain, Goddammit!" heh. I had the strangest dream with God in a few nights ago.
we were doing 3 weeks and rented a car for the first week in tuscany...pisa, san gimi, siena, assisi, orvieto, pompeii and amalfi coast..the rest, rome, florwnce, venice and milan by train
oooh, memories! We're headed to Ireland next, but are tentatively planning to live in Italia for a few years, after 2008.
Miyavi, what did She look like? :)
I once went to midnight mass on Christmas Eve and the priest yelled at everyone at the end of mass to not bang down the kneelers, saying "for the sake of the Christ child..." which I thought a really poor reason to yell or to invoke the Christ child
st7.32 the first pls
Hey Fran! How are you and the fambly?
im tres jealous
put an s in front of your ta6
ch1212, and others...love to hear your travel stories, don't apologize

nuttyy budddyyyy......
Ch, nice try XD I only got his/her/it's presence. and it said "have you seen my son, for I sent him to get milk." That was kind of it for that, because Pennywise came into my dream >.<

TY ch1212 for my fireworks
yay lynxxx!!!
ktista is nice, though..i may adopt that spelling, Fran

n/m, I got it
dsp, if I an****** you with the word, you would have it!
congrants lynxxx!!
an8 once you get it you will ahve an****** it
yay lynxxx!!!!
congrants? I like that word
WOW Miyavi, what great imagery with the milk -- we could really get into the symbolism of what milk represents in terms of the feminine -- interesting...
In fact, I am not Babbling today. Too late to start. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. Needed something to lighten my mood after that Dr. Phil episode (child abuse).
its short for congregants
:D nrkii
LOL CHJ!
or its welfare for inmates
got to go - work - this grid took far to olong - see you all later
Ch...you are not, as such, getting this, are you? XDDD
!! That's especially funny chj, in light that my last job was project director for a GRANT for youth offenders!
I am having some fairly irreverant responses to the whole I sent him to get milk concept... as in, is that what you sent me for? you could have been a little more specific...
hey, anyone get teh first two EN words?
Bye lynxx!
lady, en + just in ****
by lynxxx
en + brief**** (what business people carry)
bye*
I keep seeing Him in a "got milk" ad.
oooh krista, that's worse!
Ahh, thanks
Oh my God... I LOVE the "GOT MILK" slogan. Many, oh SO MANY j-rockers have had that captioned on their pictures...
ROFL, but going to hell for it
Qll the travel talk about Italia is making me homesick for it. Three times now we have lingered inits beautiful toe=wns--preferring Umbria to Tuscany, actually, and deploring what has become of San Gimignano in more recent years. On eof our graddaughters chose to get married in Siena two summers ago, and booked a couple of villa estates in the wine country for her family and guests. A totally unforgettable week of romance and delight
I know, nrkii -- it was off the top of my head in terms of symbolism. That's why I said wow, we could have a discussion around that -- half in jest!
ah see Krista, you've just unlocked the secret of my extistence.
and, you know, that symbol is milk.
Not being disrespectful...I think He has a sense of humor. I dolove the symbolism, seriously.
Ch said a wooooord~ XDDD
Ooops? OOOPS I did! Sorry. Miss Hetty, my beloved wanted us to be married on a gondola in Venice. He settled for renewing our vows on one instead :)
I'm glad I could do that for you, Miyavi. :)
I think S/He must have a sense of humour: look at George Bush. However in the bible God always seems vengeful. Once again, probably to do with Bush.
it's the ot 6 which I thought I had now can't find
We went to Italy to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, and my turning 50.
1st pa 7/32 please
very nice ch1212 :)
phandmd, double the second syllable
of the ot4
but the question is, Krista, what do I do now? XD
hetty..ah siena...walked up the steps to the top og mangia tower...il campo is one of the great public spaces in the world
hi, clue please for in6,18
ot6 - take off the last letter of the ot4, then add facial spasm
m3, add vowel to pa 6/21
I live in Italy for about 6 months, back in 1986, it was lovely
ch1212 he sounds a man after my own heart. Did your gondolier sing to you as you pased under t6yhe Bridge of Sighs?

lmj, switch last two letters around on bull
thans, nrkii
Our gondolier was a lovely man named Enrique, who spoke limited English. He was married to a young woman from Chicago, USA, whom he met while she was on vacation there.
ty nrkii
I could get into a whole big fat discussion on everything you just mentioned, but I would go on forever. I don't want to do that, I no one else wants me to! You seem to know a lot more than most 14 year olds, to answer that last ?
thnx ch; now I am done! I will bbl
I was in siena at the time of the paolo??? is that what it's called?
Yup. We prefer Siena to Florence--nd Assisi best of all-- except perhaps Verona--but then how can one choose in such sublime neauty spots?
They were having all the parades for the various neighborhoods (sestas????)
Hurray for Phandmd!
yay phandmd!!!!!
yay phandmd!!
every afternoon a flotilla of gondolas, complete with singer and accordian, went by the window of our hotel room
Sounds wonderful, chj!
it was 5 or 6 years ago, so I don't remember vividly, do you know chj?
4 s' to go yeah
te6/21 anyone?
Well put, Miss Hetty. Krista, Miyavi is indeed exceptionally bright for 14 -- and a delight to have in our Babble family. I always enjoy her chat.
it was 9 years ago for me and i can remeber every minute
*beauty spots. We were frustrated that we cudn't go both ays along the coast of lake garda--keptve other for another day (tho' knowing how way leads ON TO WAY I DOUBTED WE SHOULD EVER GO BACK)
te 6/21= and do agian
Fran, Jacula clued this earlier: As I walked out in the Streets of La**** for that te6/21 (rhymes with)
te + if you don't like the way something comes out, you may have to **** it (make happen again)
thanks ch and m3 and nrk!
Fran, I thought of you while watching Dog Bounty Hunter until 3am this morning! He seems to be quite the celebrity in Hawaii!
okay, do you remember what the name of the big horse race is in siena, and the name they use for the neighborhoods there?
yikes, i am still not seeing the in6,18, could i please have another clue?
he is krista! love the show too.
Miss Hetty, speaking of vows -- today is our 23rd month anniversary and we are celebrating tonight. We decided that since we got such a late start we need to celebrate every month!
Oooh...I just saw such lovely comments about myself ^^ thanks, Krista, and Ch12...though to be honest, I'm very immature XD
yes siena over florence and just adored assisi...we walked up the hill to the fortress and then thru back streets to the basilicas...we were there a few months before the earthquake
I'm trying to think of it, nrkii. Tell you what--let's all go there for a babblers convention
Miyavi, I didn't say you were mature -- ;) I just said you were exceptionally bright!
emusing, in + mr. hawthorne's nickname
emusing, in + author Hawthorne's first name, for short
Enjoy being immature while you're still young enough. It doesn't suit us old people.
thanks,
nrk...the palio
Rubbish, M_fan .. You're more mature than many adults I know ..
now iget it!!
question to all the italy travellers - What color has the underwear of the italians in the night of new years eve? And why?
nrk, gmta!
palio!!! yes!
oh tor, I'm trying to tease her! (But of course she is)
hello everyone
and the neighborhoods? Sestas? Septas? something that indicates there are 6 or 7 of them, I think...
Which island are you on, Fran? I"m too lazy to look it up.
hi bgmadden
yeah last one the ST 6/33 please
red underwear but I don't know why
Hi bgmadden!
oahu krista.
That is correct, ch1212.
past tense of st 4/8 M3
and the neighborhoods are the contradas
Tor, no, really...I'm not O.O trust me. If you could see some of the film footage I have on a particular camcorder... heh, heh, heh.
hmmm, not what I remember
of course thanks nrkii
but, my brain is swiss cheese so okay
yeah all done anyone need a naff clue from me ?
yay m3!!!!!!!!!!!
They wear red underwear for good luck in the following year.
yay m3!!!!
Oh, ty Fran.
ts 5/12?
i think they allow 14 contratas to participate in each palio...there are two..one in july and one in august
Ahhh that's why! lmj, t + opposite of happy + vowel
ty ch1212!
Hubby just translated "naff" for me, M3. ;)
ts 5/12 ts+ not happe + second vowel
they had an extra one the year I went, in celebration of something, and so they were parading even though it was September
it was fun to watch -- very colorful
krista lol naff + rubbish i guess lol
There are 17 contradas: Tortoise, Wave, She-Wolf, Goose, Shell, Porcupine, Dragon, Owl, Snail, Panther, Eagle, Caterpillar, Unicorn, Ram, Giraffe, Forest and Tower.
krista is your hubby English or just smart !!
Hurray for M3! As much as I hate to go, I need to get ready for this evening - going out with my husband. Happy babbling all - thank you for the wonderful trip down memory lane
Ok -- M_fan you're really not .. But your witty banter is amusing ..
Both. ;)
lmj643 did you get the ts ?
Whats a contrada?
see ya ch1212!
New years eve in greece sucks. At first do they have family dinner around 10pm. Right after midnight they start playing cards and finally around 3/4 o'clock in the morning they go out to celebrate.
its a division or neighborhood of siena for the purposes of the palio, a horse race
Catch you later, folks. Off to do din din.
Oh, right, gotcha
lawl ^^ Thanks, Torg...I can feel my ego inflating nicely XD in fact, I'm going to go and get a drink...all you babblers that find me IRRESISTIBLE, follow me. no pushing now XD
Congratulations phandmd on your fireworks!Hooray!

y w
here's an interesting factoid: Even today it is not considered a good idea to marry out of the contrada, and if you do, it's probably wise to sleep at your parents' house the night before the race.

Thank you for your te clues! I finished te words now.

Be sure to let us babblers know how it was when you return. I'll be looking for tips for our safari in September. We went to Peru once and stayed at an ecotourism camp! What fun - no electricit - only three walls on our cabin - I loved it - hubby said, "next time I must demand hot water!"

Back to the grid - 32 left
Many a true word is spoken in je4/9!
lol Jac1
Oh dear - it'll be all my fault....
It will..
AND I forgot that je4/9 was in the grid. I'm just a BAD babbler.
We'll all blame you Haz [ha ha ha]
:)) I LOVE a big grid (if you'll pardon the expression)!
I've never seen a grid with 500 words... that WOULD be a challenge...
I think we've had a fe just over 500, haven't we?
So size does matter?
*few
torg - ROFLOL
lol torgone !
'Dear Dr God, Please can you fix it for me for the grid not to be too big or too small tomorrow. My life depends on it. Sincerely, Haz1558.'
there are so many things that could be said in response to that...
*chortle*
I only started babbling a few months ago - have never seen anything bigger than around 350
it isn't the size of the grid, its how you wiggle the words ;-p
How long has this website been up?
clues for first two ti-s (5/12 and 6/21) pls?
I've seen quite a few 400+
puptone - since 30th Sept 2003.
ti5/12 places a consonant just before the end of the coloured ti4/4, then pluralise for ti6/21
Ty Jac
does anyone else keep getting a message saying 'a script on this page may be busy...'?
not me sherb
Nope
sherb - Yes, all the time! Have to press it between 3-5 times. Annoying, isn't it?
thx Haz
I get that when I refresh ..
You're welcome dspike.
Same here, torg.
just noticed it the last couple of days... think I'll email Dr G and see what he's got to say...
sherb - it's been happening to me ever since the beta site began.
Don'r forget to remind him - no 500 word grid tomorrow.
only 126 left! lol
144 here Reese's!
Dear Dr G - can you please fix this error message... and Haz says she would like a 500 word grid tomorrow, lots of love...
oops, wrong box!!
'Dear Dr_God. Please make tomorrow's grid a 500-worder because everyone will faint and the server will be so empty that I'll be able to whizz the words in. Sincerely, Jacula.'
lol sherb!
And it will all be blamed on me!!!!
Haz - Yup!
Haz... sit down on Dr sherb's couch... tell me, do you have a persecution complex, hmnn?
*grinning at sherb*
'It all began when the other children in nursery wouldn't play with me.....'
help on both words in fourth line down"o"
and the teacher gave them 500 lines, and they blamed you...
'Just because I knew more words than they did....'
po 7/36?
' just lay back on the couch & repeat after me -I must not tempt fate. I must not tempt fate, I must not................
po7/36 - home for a pea, then rearrange a direction word.
'I must not tempt fate, I must not tempt fate.....'
thx again Haz
You're welcome. I must not tempt fate, I must not.
lol Haz !
You know Dr_G has 1000 word grid in his pocket, just waiting for the right moment to unleash it on us ..
AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGH HHHHHHH!
Blimey, snowy! You might have given me chance to turn my speakers off.
you're off the hook, Haz... we'll just blame tor now if there's a big grid...
Thank goodness for that. I've come over all faint.
*passes smelling salts back to Haz*
Ok torgone - repeat after me, I must not tempt...... - such an awful thought!
Thanks, I was just about to ask for them back again!
That's fine .. I can take it .. I'm a big boy ..I get blemed for most things anyway .. ( I must not tempt fate . . .)
Aloha, gals and gents.
Hi Judi
*blamed*
Hi Judi.
If that ever happened - is it mathematically possible? - I reckon there would be a fine number of excuses as to why people weren't able to attempt it. Unprecedented numbers of weddings and hastily arranged holidays.
blamed is the new owned
Hello Judi.
what about a 25 letter word
hi Judi :)
lol - other than that Haz - there would be an increase in sickies! There wouldn't be time to work!
If you play on http://weboggle.shackworks.com for long you'll see many 5X5 grids with 1-2,000 words.
Hi Judi. You just missed it. Haz was wishing for a 500 word grid . . .
I'm an imp . . .
Hithere - I do play on Weboggle, usually on the 4x4 grids, though. I think people use cheat programs though.:(
Snowy - that's the more likely scenario, if I know hardened Babblers.:)
and a floyd fan to boot!!
& I've have the sparkliest computer room in the country! ( It's my usual excuse for being in here so much)
weboggle allows 3 letter words, too ..
bookmarks yet another puzzle site...
Not me - I'm still sane "she thinks"
'Sane'? Are sane people allowed in here??
I do not have enough life left to attempt another word game -this one has taken up the tiny amount that being a grandparent & Girlguiding leave me!
weboggle looks good... games are short...
Well I'm not sure I've ever seen any Jacula -tho things are not quite as crazy here as they were before Christmas1
Hello Judi! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle!
'Wordo' is a nice word game. I have it downloaded on my computer. I think I put a link to it ages ago in the 'games' section of BabAnon.
What was happening before Christmas, snowy?
I play weboggle. I don't like it as much as Babble, but I play it.I play the bigger grid where 3 letter words are not allowed.Don't want to get into the habit of typing 3 letter words in Babble.I play 'til I get at least 50 pts.
I play Scrabble Blast.Krista got me hooked on that one
Nothing earth shattering puptone -we just seemed to live in a much more ' vitual' world then. You know the sort of thing -cocktails & jacuzzi parties. We ahd a food fight too I seem to remember and lots of rounds of drinks. Parties every night really1
Does anybody have a clue for the op 8/50 word please
Ah, the days of Anj, Lola, Lotti etc. *smiles*
Sounds like fun!!!!!
Minver - op8/50 - a type of mine. (Not the explosive sort!)
op8 is a type of mining - op4 plus ca4
Compound word - op4/5+ca4/5
op8...theyre letting everyone audition...theres an op** ****ing call
jac...what did happen to lola, have not seen her in a long while?
lola still plays... she was here the other day...
It was puptone -madness & mayhem all the way! But great fun! BTW has anyone heard form Anj since Monday - he started his new job
kristinc - she was in last week. She's got a new job and doesn't have too much time free to Babble now.
hmm...must just be on at the wrong times
did anyone see Anj yesterday? ...he started a new job on Monday...
How do you people who work play this game too??
snap sherb!
hooray for Anj and a new job...didn't hear about that one
Does anyone have a clue for the ot 6/21 word please
Puptone - you get the grid on paper and write in words as and when you can. Then you type 'em in later.
Minver - ot6 is to do with earache.

I am stuck in the CA words, first ca5/12 please
Hooray Jac!!
hooray jacula!
te 6/27 is te plus first vowel plus rhymes w/opposite of little girl with a different beginning letter sandr.
ooooh...final jeopardy category is word origins
sandr - te6/27 is a small table for cups, saucers and a beverage brewer. In fact, if you change the last letter of the beverage brewer to the sometimes vowel, you have the very word!
ca5/12 - old fashioned way of saying you're not able to
Congratulations Jacula on your fireworks! Good for U
hey thanks jac and minver
thanks puptone
ca5/12 - think Shakespeare... 'ca*** thou not help me?'
3rd ca6/24 please
Does anyone have a clue for the an 5/12 word please
Actually,I need both an 5/12 words if you have them.
an5s - add a letter to an4/4s
an 5/12 picnic pest + past tense suffix
1st an5/12 - if you had hunted picnic pests you might have done this. 2nd an5/12 - Tom & Jerry got up to lots of an***s.
minver = an5/12 side room and an5/12 extravagant gesture
well thats all for me folks am very tired. Catch you all later have fun
If any of the non-pro players would like to make fireworks of their own, there's a nice little 'mixing machine' at http://www.grab.com/games/g/fireworks_ simulation
(Take out any spaces Babble's put in.)
'Bye sandr.
sleep well sandr
Goodbye sandr! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log!

ci4/5
bye peri... hi peri...i'm in italy
not au revoir
great clue, thanks Dorens
yw
actually peri, i aam missing the last ca 5/12 and it isn't the plural of the 4/5 above it.... do you have it?
time for dinner, bbl
Dorens - da words are a member of a robber gang in India or Burma. Sounds a bit like US city where cars and music are made.
Doren, do you have the ca/5 to arrange a dinner party
yes..
last ca5/12 is plural of the ca4/5 - sounds like Miss Blanchett.
oh, i have it... sorry i didn't check it off on the lickety list or enter it....that explains...my c's are actually grey but on the list it was blank. thanks
fireworks at last!
Hooray Une!
congrats une!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done, Une, or should I say aixoise.
hhhhhhhoooooray uneaixoise!!!!!!!
I have 2 to go and am being stubborn about asking for clues!
If I'm slow responding it's because I am also on grab.com playing Jungle Fruit.
has anyone clued the da word/s yet?
Congratulations Uneaixoise on fireworks!Good for U!
oh i see you did jac, i was busy trying to figure out my dilemma ...thanks
did you get them, Dorens?
no, still puzzling it out... a bit cryptic
Dorens, a6/24 is a member of a robber band or gang in India or Myanmar. That was Jacula's clue from b4.
da624 - da+ **** Tower in San Fran (any help?)
thanks pup... and everyoone else///that did it!
Does anyone have a clue for the ca 8/50 word please
Down to 1!
go pup!!!
ca8/50 - past tense of ca6/21 above it
pup...fetch
ca8/50 - what the horse did.

hey yo! uhh.. i need serious help! what are some of the words?
min...it is a soldier in training
Islandgirl - we only give clues to words, not actual words (unless by accident).
for some reason in says it has to be at least 4 letters or longer
why is that?
Hello Islandgirl20! How are you! Welcome to the grid!
Yay Fireworks!
Well done, puptone!
congrats puptone
shut up!! please be serious!!!!1
hhhhhooooooooray pup!!
someone just tell me a frickin word plz

bye pup have fun
Goodbye puptone! I will see you tomorrow in the log!
nasty
bye puptone
sorry...stupid monkey here
ok.. i've got it
Islandgirl, we give clues & you have to find the word in the grid. For example,a clue for ea 4/4 is the name of one of the 4 directions. Now find it in the puzzle.
Hey Dorens - what part of NJ are you in - I'm in Cherry Hill
way north of you....Mountain Lakes--neear Parsippany
Islandgirl another clue for example do 4/5, when you find all the words then you are do** with the grid, ok?
Yep - way north - I'm from NYC though, so familiar with that area too
Actually really signing off now!
how long have you been down in Cherry Hill...do you miss NY?
bye puptone
Does anyone have a clue for the at 5/12 word please
the roof space in a house is an at5/12 Min

Goodbye Dorens! Have fun at Yoga! I'll see you later!
Does anyone have a clue for the an 6/21 word please
pl 5/12

an + te4/5
Hi everyone, grid hasn't changed from this morning. I was hoping it would get easier. LOL
hi
Minver - an6/21 - double up the last vowel of the an5/12 before it.
we can live in hope Pappou Ted! LOL
hey everyone !
I have 128 left to find
Pappou Ted - sometimes stepping away from the grid for a while does make it easier to see words.
Hi Helen.
is anyone 11 in this chat game thingy?
hiya jacula!
Hi Helen
island girl - chronologically, i have not been 11 for a very long time
hi appouted
or hi pappouted
"Chat game thingy" -- like, wow......
Hello PappouTed! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
Hello helenkeller! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
hiya min!
lol erda - hi!
Hi minveryork, thanks, I'm here everyday, but I rarely join in chat.
Islandgirl20, I was eleven like ages ago! I know an 11 year old though,does that count?And I wish I was 11!
when I add my digits together I am 11-- 5 + 6 =11 :D
helen....
that makes me 12
i add mine together & i am 12!!!!! yeah!
Does anyone have a clue for the ca 5/14 word please
hi chj!
Actually,I need the third ca 5/14 word if you have it.
helen-- I respect my elders!
chj & i are in the same play group :)
gee lib - if this weren't sucha polite site - you'd get a little fu from me :)
helen...you missed song fancy singin today
funny uh?
When I add my digits up I am 8 years old, not 11 yet.
only 5/14 i have is an army rookie
lol, chj & helen!
7 here!
esssh - should i even ask - what is that?
9 for me!
3rd ca5/14 is what a robber did before he robbed - checked it out, ca*** the joint.
allstar, the other ca 5/14 is suitca** plus a d and the anagram of that same word. Does that help you out?
we sang some mikado earlier
you are very precocious, snowy!
and a little steely dan
of course - if i add 1 + 2, then that makes me a pre-schooler
just got it -thanks Min and Jac
Incidentally, if I add my age numbers up I'm 13.:))
makes me a toddler--2!
Actually,Jacula that is the fourth one.I need the one before that one, according to Lickety's list. Thanks!
well you know lib -some of have it and some don't LOL! My husband would say I'm seven a lot of the time!
chj - you all should count yourselves lucky i wasn't here - i was traumatized as a small child about singing
but if i multiply my digits, im 35
a very large toddler... :-O
Minver - sorry, yes. 3rd ca5/14 is a chicken.
hmmm--30 here-- I like that!
(In fact it's a castrated male chicken!)
I'm 10 then
in the first grade, i was chosen to be one of the 3 singing angels for the christmas play - a very important part, since the 3 angels got to stand at the front of the stage for almost the entire program & sing brief intros to each scene
lol, snowy!
i was chosen, of course, for my golden hair & angelic look
If I multiply my digits I am 15,makes me older than 11
then the most horrible thing happened
why do i sound so good in the shower
after the first rehearsal, i was no longer one of the 3 singing angels, and since all the parts were taken, i was relegated to the back of the angel choir & told i didn't have to sing very loudly if i didn't want to - nuns!
Nasty nuns!
chj - it's the echo.:)
how do you solve a problem like helen
hey.. does anyone wanna hear my song?
LOL, chj.
who sang island girl?
so????? does anyone wanna hear my song or not?>
aww, poor helen :-(
when i came home in tears, my mom was very concerned & as i was explaining to her what happened, and i'll never forget this - her expression changed from one of intense motherly concern to a wry little smile and as she was slowly shaking her head, she calmly said, "well, i could have told them that"
Elton John.
Ok.. well weather you like it or not.. I'm singin'. lol
lay it on us ig
poor helen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think youre right jac
chj - I know I'm right. I've got it on vinyl.
a clue please for op8??
it appears i have been tone deaf since tiny & used to sing in my crib & my moms friends would ask her what was wrong with her baby - oh, she's just singing, lol
I sound like linda ronstadt in my car...
i cant remember any other part of the song except the part that goes...island girl
LOL helen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Helen - both my best friend and the other girl who was my bridesmaid are tone deaf. It was excruciating during the wedding hymns!
1.. 2.. a strangers comin' for u. 3..4.. lock ur door. 5..6.. grab ur croosafix. 7..8.. it's too late. 9..10.. the strangers in.
flask-when movies are being made and they need a lot of extras they have an op
ty, i love the sympathy cause as you can see, i'm still not totally over it! lol - but now i sing in public & loudly just to tic people off
op8/50 is a compound word. Op 4/5 plus ca 4/5 Flask
op8...theyre letting everyone audition...thers an op** ****ing call
lol jacula!
My Dad was giving the one friend a lift in the car once and she was in the back, singing along to the radio. My Dad, who was deaf in one ear anyway, thought there was something wrong with the car!
thanks CHJ!
Does anyone have a clue for the ca 7/36 word please
umm..
let me see.
LOL jacula
Minver - past tense of ca5/12 (to lay on food etc.)
you have some cook for you for a party
uhh.. no!
sorry
True story, Helen!
ig..dont know that one
that's funny
Never mind, Islandgirl. Sing us the rest later.
lol, jac-- remember the song by minnie riperton? "lovin' you"-- the first time I heard her hit that high note, I actually started to pul over-- thought something dreadful had happened to my car...
hey.. does anyone live in st.maarten??
yes, but not me
Thank you for the ca clues.Finished my ca words now
yes
lol chj!
wow..minnie riperton..i remember that song
is you live in st.maarten say st.maarten ok?
he, he, chj!
LoL chj! Good answer!
st.maarten
renate - you live in the islands
renate - what nationality are you?
dutch
hello everyone!
that high note was unearthly, no?
libarebel - I have the Minnie Riperton song on a single (vinyl). I know what you mean about the high note though.
lib, just read your comment about that song, that is funny!!
Does anyone have a clue for the co 5/12 word please
ren - i love your name !!!! although, personally, very personally, i think it's much better with the 'a' at the end :)
lib i wonder if you are the reason she only had one hit lol
ty, fran--true! :-0
Actually,I need the second co 5/12 word if you have.
min, add a vowel to the overco**, it's a kind of animal
Just for interest: b. 8th November 1947, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. d. 12th July 1979, Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. Minnie Riperton hailed from Chicago, Illinois, originally. Minnie was the youngest of eight children. She studied classical music as a child and developed a five-octave vocal range and originally intended to become an opera singer.
maybe, hyp! :-D
i didn't know she was from chicago
Minnie died from a brain tumour, if I recall correctly.
jac, like pat penatar, the opera singer part.
wow, ty, jac-- no wonder-- 5 octaves!
where does the word dutch come from..i mean it has no connection to the name(s) of the country, Holland (or the Netherlands)
FranMag - Benetar, I think. LOL.
how interesting, i loved that song
wow, so young.
i really dont know
chj - that is something I have wondered in the past.
maybe the word comes from treat?
sorry, that was benatar!
Hi Ren.
hi mistress
hi rennie!
how do you say "hit me w/ your best shot" in italian?
hey ya fran!
hi ren
i don't know lib, but it would sound neat.
hey ya chj!
maybe it comes from doors or paint
or the oven
it would at that, fran!
i used to work in-patient psych & one of my patients would always come up to me & say "i'm just another notch on your lipstick case, right?" lol
maybe the natives are germanic? like deutschland?
checking google, brb
helen, you hearbreaker you!!
ah - now fran's explanation makes the most sense
auf deutsch...smacken sie mit deiner besten schotten
lol fran - yep! it was funny to me
ach bin lieb
that sounds pretty good chj!
In the 15th and 16th centuries, the English referred to all people of germanic heritage as Dutch or Dutchmen regardless of whether they came from the Netherlands or from lands now known as Germany. Dutch/Deutsch.
big patty b fan here. what does le bel age mean?
chj & ren - i guess this means you actually know all the words to - i want to hold your hand - ger verion, of course
my favorite german phrase is on Ritter chocolate bars, the extra thick ones say "more dick" on the package.
you live and learn
allstar - it means 'the wonderful age'.
thank you jac, we have been edumacated today.
tnx-love the song but never knew what that meant
in texas, early settlers from eastern europe were called black dutch by the texans and indians
I fink you mean edjikated, FranMag. :)
komm, gib mir deine hand
FranMag - ROFLOLPMP re the chocolate bars.
why black dutch????
fran mag - i got a funny e-mail that had all kinds of stuff like that - it was titled 'why american have a hard tiem shopping in foreign countries' pretty funny
Helen - any chance you can post that e-mail on BabAnon?
renate....i don;t know...they just were. i will ask pops
helen, they're starting to market the chocolate in the US, i wonder if they're going to change the packaging.
chj - ok, i know THAT part - it's the glublich part i don't get - of course, now i'm just used to the made up words i use to sing along :)

WARNING When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up for the sobriety of my youth. Beautiful Woman - Age 3: She looks at herself and sees a Queen. Age 8: She looks at herself and sees Cinderella. Age 15: She looks at herself and sees an Ugly Sister (Mum I can't go to school looking like this!) Age 20: She looks at herself and sees 'too fat/too thin, too short/too tall, too straight/too curly'- but decides she's going out anyway. Age 30: She looks at herself and sees 'too fat/too thin, too short/too tall, too straight/too curly' -- but decides she doesn't have time to fix it, so she's going out anyway. Age 40: She looks at herself and sees 'clean' and goes out anyway. Age 50: She looks at herself and sees 'I am' and goes wherever she wants to go. Age 60: She looks at herself and reminds herself of all the people who can't even see themselves in the mirror anymore. Goes out and conquers the world. Age 70: She looks at herself and sees wisdom, laughter and ability, goes out and enjoys life. Age 80: Doesn't bother to look. Just puts on a purple hat and goes out to have fun with the world. Maybe we should all grab that purple hat earlier.
