melon - good one - got thrown off by one extra letter in clue
melon i went out with a male friend last night and he was being a right ungentlemanly prat, maybe i shouldn't tell him that clue as he doesn't need any more ideas. Also what kind of straight man are you if you have 2 women on your arm and your out and you don't offer a drink?
halfway home
chj - funny you said sadist before the flip - and it's a phantom
good for you chj

hi fmitch!
Greetings Ata, how are you?
how many words are there in this grid?
AngelSong says: Some words that "are" real words will not be included in the Enable Dictionary, and other (sometimes "adult" or very strange) words you've never heard of will be there. It's all a part of the fun of Babble, so don't get stressed by it. Relax and just go with the flow and have fun.
tired! woke up at about 3am feeling really asthma-y, been up ever since! now I'm just waiting for the doctors to open so I can get some better-making tablets!
Not a good way to start the day Ata, hope you feel better soon and rest up!

Lucky thing!
morning all -it is raining in Wales, no there's a suprise! Good luck to all who are awaiting exam results. Our neighbour will be rushing off for hers later on.
hi snowy - lovely day here! my best wishes to all getting results, too!
not in Cardiff Snowy!
well - I don't want to say to much -but the sun has just come out here too! Lots of cloud still around but definately sun - so there's hope yet! LOL Wales had its summer while I was in Majorca.
hi everyone
Hi Pappou Ted -& how rude of me -Hi Ray & Dippnall
82 degrees here, probably muggy too
The humidity I can do without. I like dry heat - but only if I'm near the swimmimg pool or the sea!
and the tropics are starting to heat up which means hurricane season is about to get busy
Well we don't get anything that extreme Pappou Ted & I don't envy you such desrtuctive weather. Must be terrifying. My husband would hate it -He's 69 & he still hates the wind!
it can get scary and before my dad passed away we had to worry about where to take him for dialysis in case we couldn't get him to his center. This summer we're prepared with a generator and we have all our window boards cut and ready. Hopefully, we won't have to use any of them
is anyone finding words for the bottom m? I can only find one
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! BTW my husband is 59! LOL He wouldn't like the 10 years I gave him that fast! Must go as he's calling & I must do something more useful than play Babble all daytoday!( which is pretty much what I did yesterday)
bye snowy
Hi everyone, PT for the bottom look at the x
bottom m that is
andree, hi and thank you, I didn't even think about going that way
good morning everybody:)

oops
i hear something large in the woods...do bears sharpen their claws on trees by chance?
no good anyway
I wouldn't be going out to check, evanout
no, i didn't think i would
my second guess was a buck sharpening his rack.
evanout, I woke up one morning and went to get my paper. When I went to open my door, there was a snake trying to get in.
oh pappou, i had a dream lastnight i was being chased by an evil python
yikes, evanout
me thinks it was the drugs
years ago when we lived in Malaysia we had a snake in the house and it bit my dog
was it poisonous?
you lived in malaysia?
in 1986/7
stil miss the maid
oh, when i was like 9
my words aren't entering very quickly
my youngest child was older than 9 eva lol
sorry PT I just saw your post, yes a cobra, dog must have moved fast as most of the venom burned his skin and he lived to tell the tale, he was never well after

bye, jean
good evening everyone - it looks awful - but is it?
not too bas llynxx
hi lynxxx and all
*bad*
Hi folks. Grid seems quick today. Better than yesterday.
I started a little over an hour ago and I found 125, I'm slowing down
*lynxxx*
That's good going PappouTed. I've got 51 in 25 mins.
hi hydra
Hi Pappou. Is Tampa Bay where you live?
yes, hydra, on the gulf side, beach is within walking distance
but don't ask when the last time was that I walked out there
About 20 years ago I bought half an acre of land on the gulf coast as an invemstment. It was in Holley by the Sea. I sold it last year at a huge loss. Never again!
I don't know where that is. In my town, prices are outrageous.
I bet it's lovely there. I'd love to live near a beach instead of near Heathrow.
it is pretty, but too hot right now
Following our heatwave, it's rained ever since, with the odd snatch of blue sky between monsoons.
Hi, all...
Hi Pam.

herinfernallady--tthe total point value X2 for a 5 letter word

Anyone else having trouble entering words?
Yes!
Yes!
Yes!
Yes!
Yes!
yes!
mines working fine...at least when its a real word it works fine :P
I guess the rubber band on the server needed tightening again.
I see that the major lag situation is still here, very frustrating.
I ironed a shirt between entering a word and it being taken!
Good morning everyone. Seems like the site is having a breakdown again.
HI Eva, yes the ongoing lag problem is still here

Thanks Annie - I had the singular and forgot the plural! Doh! I've been monkeying for far too long!
the monkeys are busy today
THIS IS BLOODY HARD
Hello all. I was just wondering if someone could explain how you know which words contain a certain number of letters, and what they start with before you even know the word? E.g. "se9" I am guessing that means it starts with se and is the 9 letter word. How do you know that? LOL Enlighten me please.
are there any REAL words in there?
There's the odd one or two amandacath but they are well hidden.
girl, se 9.72 the 9 is the number of letters in the word and the 72 is the total point value of the word as per the number on the tile
SEMIDASH!!!
hi, amanda
hi annie! that would be a hyphen, right Andy?
That should definately be a word Andy or at least a comment on the grid!
Hi Girl Next Door! Look at the links at the bottom left-hand side and click on Lickerty's Babble Clues and all will be revealed.
ER, YEAH!!!
GND - take a look at Angelsong's Babble page (link under friends of babble) - that should explain things
Annie, but how do you know that? I mean, I see numbers on the tiles. But how do you know the word will start with SE, has 9 letters and is 72 points. Am I missing something. I am new to this, in case you didn't guess. :)
Oh, OK. Thank you amanda! I will do that. Sorry for being so verbose this morning. LOL
GND -- if you are a Pro Babbler, you get extra things, like word stats and a running tally of what you have found and how many are left...
girl, read amanda and sue's post, very helpful
Thanks everyone.
halfway done...methinks its breakfast ti4/5!
welcome to babbleland, girlnextdoor

Haven't know Dr_G to take a vacation, is everyone emailing him through the link at the bottom of the page to highlight/"complain" re the slowness?
I hate to flood him with e-mails all saying the same thing, but if that's what it's going to take....
sometimes it takes mass notification to make change...heh

I missed that too, Congrats chj.
thanks FM (by steely dan)
Steely Dan, blast from the past!
ah - thanks mitch. Is that British? Seems like we have another word for 1st-years at Annapolis - plebes maybe? Can't quite get that particular brain cell accessed...
i just heard that they are playing currently in nyc
no its not just british, the plebes are from west point, at annapolis they are are called midshipmen or cadets
good morning
Ah, brain cell is now activated - will probably only remain so until I finish the grid
Hi KL!
hi laurel
mi7 = take 1st 3 letters from previous mi6/24 and add d4/5
brains, what brains? nasty storms and frightened kids kept me up
chj - I will have to look on the web, glad to hear they are still playing.
and how is everyone else?
Ah there there klaurel, has it all settled down now?
well, I think so. we are still on storm watch until 10am
if I could find my missing h-word I'd be happier - other than that, doing just fine, Laurel
Oh Man! Ever wake up and hear thunder and lightening that makes the night like day and then , WHOOSH! you could just HEAR the torrent of rain?
i just checked and plebes refers to freshman from any service academy
but i think i associate that term more with west point
I love storms like that, Laurel. Of course, I don't have any kids or dogs to soothe through them
my chicken dog was just curled up on the floor next to my bed
woooo, I hear more rumbling
thats how my dog is
Love storms but not on that scale not that we get them like that in the UK
klaurel: I LOVE thunder and lightening/storms :)
yech - all that authority and ranking at such establishments. Makes my skin crawl
fmitch: true, but we had a nice storm here recently, must have struck about 30 times in the space of quater of an hour
Its okay, I like the rain, it means nice green grass and fresh veggies and a low water bill. :) 'Course, I don;t like the flckering power (four times, had to come down in the middle of the night and turn off computers and I have to reset the TiVo easter eggs on all three of them! and cleaning up the branches! UGH!
timid
but being kept awake and then have to drag kid to school, ick
gah it keeps going to chat box when i tab back to the window
is the last ai 4/4 one of those wierd non-words?
you breath it, +t
not really but I have been babbling too long - ai4 - what you breathe plus a letter
the last ai I have is, laurel - it's a babblet
I love staring at the screen, wondering if my word was accepted . . . *grumble*
dang dang dang!
there we go again eh, fmitch :)
it is a wonder that anyone finishes a puzzle
isn't that fun, Tor? I love entering a run of words, then realizing it's taking forever and forgetting what I'd just entered!
amandacath: tell me about it! Put in a good 10 words earlier and waited *4* minutes for a response to the first!
lol souleh
I might have to write my own AJAX word game in protest! :E
dang is correct. enough! see you all later....
dang is correct. enough! see you all later....
hm too slow for me too

I have the Mi7 what is the ending for the Mi6?
hi minski - it's where planes fly, or sometimes collide
thanks amanda
I keep not seeing those 3 letters. they are hiding on me.
no prob. Why not empt - if you can pre-empt...
phantom word: mildew
oh blast it - which ed am I missing. Have whirls, two silly words, and blue-pencil
good morning/ afternoon to all
Hi abe!
How's it going?
grrr
sorry to hear...
does anyone else want to put a L in the DI 6/24? D
hadn't seen that done, laurel - but I found a (not-so) nice a7/32 that it won't accept
:) didn;t find that one amanda
amanda have you got 2 x 6/24 on the ed's?
fireworks at last for rusty and l
actually, just frustrated at not finding any more words and periodically nodding off while the site bleeps on and off
Congrats ron
yep, got two ed6's and two 4's
yay ron - and rusty!
ok there are ed4/6 x 2 and ed4/5 x 2 (plus the 2 x 6)
slooooooowed again
sorry amanda make that 1 x ed4/5
I figured, mitch

Hi all. Am I gathering the site is slow again today?
On and off, mm
frstratingly so, mm
hmmmm I don't think I have the patience for that. I think I will sew today instead. i'll check in again tomorrow.
Happy babbling all
Morning all. I'm trying to be systematic(ie. alphabet-ordered) and I'm stuck on one "d"--Mich, do you have a hint for the second de5/14?

Help! Box is eating my words again
I guess moesha is not a word ;)
hi hetty! is that one the un-send something out?
off again
Hi amanda---don't understand your clue
de5/14 - sounds like what a base ball catcher might take off at the end of a game (sort of)
good clue, fmitch@ :-)
better than mine!
lol thanks
Thanks, Mitch--still dumb enough to not understand though. Can you tell me which of the 2 d's to start with?
Sorry for the slooooow site this morning. I was doing some stuff on the server and it was really slowing things down. It *should* be smooth sailing now. (fingers crossed)
de catcher caught de ball in de5/14
un-putoutpoisonousgasses?
And I finally got de point. Ta! Good clue
might i just have a hint for tw7?
lovely torgone.
I also changed how words are checked against the puzzle and the dictionary, so let me know if there is any weirdness when adding words.
ooh, what do you mean, doc? how did you change it?
lol torgone!
hurshy- Just behind the scenes stuff.
torgone, LOL!!
why d'you think i wanna know? :) behind the scenes is fasicinating.
ooh, think scottish on tw7, i found it.
morning everyone!
hey, fiz!
Thanks, Dr_God, for always being there behind the scenes
Hi Fiz, Hi Hursh!
hi there dr_g, thanks for tinkering!
when joe torre was catching for the cardinals in the 60's he shied away from a collision at home plate and was therafter known as chicken catcher torre
fiz, what a sad tennis story :-(
ouch!! :-D
thanks for reading une! it was *really* sad at the time - I can laugh at it now.
chj, always weighing in with a non sequitur...you're a nut, and among this crew, that's really saying something.
dr. god - if you're still here - have the stats been running - i've completed a week's worth in a row and my ranking has increased a point or two...
I'll check out the rankings
wadda ya mean fiz, it was a followup on the de5 clue
morning TO!
TY! morning, all - gtg - bbl
fireworks...
Yay Angel!
congrats, angel!!!
*scrolling* still a non sequitur, chj - just a little window into your stream of consciousness.
bye to, yay angel!
fiz i have a similar phobia...i wont play a sport where my opponent is on the same side of the court as me...i was playing racquetball when my eye got in the way of my opponents followthrough....similar ending to your story only with lots of stitches above my eye
yay angel
Sorry again. I'm running the "update rankings" script, and it's a doozy so things will be slow for minute or two here...
Dr_G - it's slowing down again!!!
dead stop
the stream of my consciousness is loaded with flotsam and jetsam
wait 'til the theme is lacrosse - i've got a *great* story for that, involving 53 stitches and being called "the elephant man" in the hallway at high school.
A clue on the di 6, 27?
Dr._God...how do some have a score of 1031 for the past 30 days?
bring forth the royal di6 and crown him Lord of all...
chj- I think some people got double scores for the puzzle during "moving day" a few days ago.
ah lacrosse...i could tell ya bloodcurddling stories [said in the voice of barry fitzgerald from the quiet man]
good one hursh - how 'bout a nudge on that tw7? I still haven't found it
aha
thanks for the info dr. god
if you play golf with 4 people it's a ********, if you play with half that many in scotland it's a....
the kicker is i didn't play lacrosse (see story for ball-phobia)
i got hit in the adams apple by a redirect in lacrosse practice...couldnt breath for two minutes
The Fiz, that is a scary story. I don't blame you at all
ooookkkk - got it, thanks. Strange word!
yikes chj! sounds frightening.
tw4/8
chj **** the night before Christmas
tw4/8 the night before christmas, and all through the house...
he knows, it was just saying the experience was frightening.
Shakespeare might have sung: "tw4/8 late in the evening"
ahh, great minds think alike, Fiz
no that was a comment not a request for a clue...as in "it was" or tw4/8
tw4/8 frightening
the flotsam and jetsam fiz
Ahhhhh
see, great minds think alike, but the greatest minds know what chj is thinking ;)
Great story fiz ..
duh. my brain feels like the server over the last few days. flotsam and jetsam clogging up the stream. lol hursh!
the TW 5 would be helpful
who needs a clue...gotta go soon
alt spelling of what your little brother is, klaurel
(he would never be helpful!)
chj is a poet
tw5 like a dweeb
<LOL> ddon't have a little brother, but I am sure that is what my brother thought of me
whats the 5th o?
ive got opp of even, the two relating to debt, and the poems
he ow** you a debt of gratitude
it's got a double letter in the middle, cauz
do you have os4/4?
by which perhaps cauz means the 5th one he doesn't have, therefor, o + the organization which runs the program into which we all pay taxes and out of which the elderly and disabled get paid
os4 greek mountain
that took me way too long to type.
os4 spy org in wwII + great grade
o-sqwiggle letter sqwiggle letter and a circle
and which some of us will have the luxury to pay into for our entire working lives just in time to have it crash and burn as we prepare to retire. That one, hursh?
Too bad it'll be bankrupt by the time we are ready to be paid...
Got it...thanks!
Got it...thanks!
Got it...thanks!
is that what it means, chj? Never bothered to look it up - it appears now and again in the grid
oh douglas, so glad you are here, today's Set puzzle was so easy, i got it in 21 seconds, is that a new record?
that's the one, fiz
so it's a greek mountain? i always though it meant "bone".
I think so! The best I know of is 30 seconds by Debra Hamel. 21 seconds is a significant improvement.
me too, fiz!
have you done it yet? you'll see what i mean, so easy.
looks like we're all right, une. both definitions included. phew!
errr..morning all! What is a set puzzle..am I missing a game?..(needs to know)
Hello all, good Thursday morning!
<loves word games, bunches
www.setgame.com
thanks, Hursh!! its not like, err tennis is it?..aha
thanks, Hursh!! its not like, err tennis is it?..aha

I just did the puzzle, hurshy, and I see what you mean...I took 58 seconds...
I just did the puzzle, hurshy, and I see what you mean...I took 58 seconds...
easy today, set
is the board needing a caffine boost today?
Hi Stid
btw - got a brace for my hurt wrist and though it slows down my typing it is a wonderful thing. i'm pretty much back to full functionality.
no, not like tennis at all
thanks, hersh..
hi stid!
when was that carpel tunnel built anyway
hey liana - where do we catch your swim team?
glad you got the brace, Fiz--- but still rest frequently and keep taking the anti-inflammatory medication as long as the doctor said! *fuss fuss*
seriously, hope your felling better fiz
I think that was just before the "Big Dig" chj... same engineer, I heard!
HAHA..fiz. its purely in jest..
BUT..if you want to audition I think it can be arranged..bwaaaaaahahahahaha
hi all!
hey there hi there
hi, there.hi there!
now is that redundant or what?..
lol liana - i think i'm missing some of the requisite equipment! thanks everyone - i'm trying to be nice - and i've gotten out off a whole array of household chores :)
greetings, esteemed Hi there! *grin*
hola, hi there!
always look on the bright side of life, fiz
ummmm..i can donate a swim cap with daisies..as for the other stuff..youre either born with it or NOT..(geez)
whee! I got an 8 all by myself!
First MI please
yay stid.
go stidmama
i still need an eight and the doggone 9
first mi usually ends with a, but here it is cut off.
swimcap with daisies would be quite nice, i think. but it wouldn't make up for the other stuff. maybe the costume designer from boogie nights could help?
not to mention 82 others.
I only need another 173!
some football teams play inside, some play in open stadiums, and some have se9
FIZ!! ther is no other stuff..Its a nude syncronized swimming team..think, think!!
I just wrote a post about your Bob-Beamonish time on the set puzzle, hurshy
umm liana - nude *male* team - clearly missing other stuff....
was it the half pantheonic roof or the thing the detective did, stid?
aha..so , fergit it..eh?..(is laughing)
ever notice how moms can mess your plans? mom calls me up and wants me to go shopping with her, so, she bribes me with a trip to Wolfgang Puck Express (which I have been wanting to try) and she pays. Sigh I am so weak
It was the detective thing, chj. now I need to look for the roof! thanks...
klaurel, what is Wolfgang Puck Express?
get up on the roof and youll find the 9 too
its like a quick lunch type Wolfgang restaurant
who's bob beamon?
Does that mean free food, laurel? I'm *always* bribable on that - I'll even quit babbling for it!
tractor trailer + a follically challenged person is a chrome ***
that sounds wonderful KLaurel
will tell you about it when I get back. :) Yes, I am quitting for lunch!! :)
I have to wait for my insignificant otherto get home. He is a catastrophic insurance agent..he might know about roofs
later klaurel!
enjoy!
lol klaurel! my parents are coming to visit for labor day weekend, and my sister and i have both figured out how we're going to get a trip to ikea and home depot out of them!
thanks, reminded my mother that we were on vacation a couple of weeks ago and spent TOO MUCH MONEY, so, no fripperies until the credit card rolls over. :)
liana - think half of a top. or cover. ;-)
liana -- do you mean that he is not a good insurance agent (all his clients have catastrophes) or that he deals with catastrophy insurance...???
meant to say - put those things together for 1 8 and the plural is the 9
liana, if he's so bad at his job, maybe he should find something new... ;-)
what you said mama..he only deals with hurricanes, hail storms, tornados n stuff..leaves time for him to indulge in his hunting frenzies.
You know, Fiz, I used to be that way, but now I have two kids, a dog, a nice home and a husband that makes just under 6-figures, I can't ask my mom for money any more!
Hi Wolvie
brb -- doing algebra w/ the kid...
hi wolvie!
i hate hunting and football..(sigh)..in the south they are all gung ho on those kinds of activities..
hi abe and amanda!
may his netherregions, uh, wither..i get bored with it all.
okay, off to lunch. Will tell you guys how Wolfgang's express restuarant is! :) Hi, Wolvie. Bye Wolvie
hi and bye, kl!
yeah, i don't so much suck $$ off my parents any more - but use of the station wagon and free labor is a good thing. my dad and I will be putting block glass windows into the basement while my mother regrouts the bathroom tile.
4 more words and I'm allowing myself the list - somebody ask for something I don't have!
mi 6/24 before above ground
that is, IF my wrist improves...
okay..time for pool excersizes..later all!!! enjoy the grid..
lateh~~
lol liana - get that team working! see you later
bye liana
bye Liana
Yeah, that would be nice, Fiz. :) I usually have to get friends to do that for me!
as5/10 sort of like try or a paper you write
at5 a + journey
mercy - that word generally has an a on the end
(exits left..blowing fetid kisses n stuff)
got 'em both, hursh
da4/6 morse code has dits and...
da5/9 scottish word
ewww. i'll pass on fetid kisses. prefer them foetid anyway....
di4/6, escapade, has 2 plural forms
HAHA..smart arse..(i stand corrected)..foetid..grrrr.
di5/6 british past tense
thanks for the clues Hurshy
di4/5 rhymes with pi4/5, flat bread pocket
do4/5 valancy's nickname in the blue castle
do7 people who dress unfashionably
*looking shocked* Smart Arse? Moi? well i never...
do5 rhymes with what you did at the end of your performance
ed4/6 what steve urkel used to call his winslow buddy on family matters (and then 2 letter pl)
Is first MI a center prefix?
ed 4/6 the unpronounceable babblet
ei5/12 looks greekish
Wait, wait! I think I've got most of those - I can't read as fast as you're entering! (got all the e's though)
um hursh are you just going down the list? b/c i'm slow and gimpy right now....
i'm going down the list and picking out the oddest ones
id4/6 like a single piece of fruit but with a d not a t
the im's mostly you take the t off the beginning of ti5, shy, and then fiddle with the endings
except for the last one which sounds like another thing your little brother can be
Fireworks! Anyone need a clue?
congrats, hydra!

MI
Afternoon all.......
last pr5 italian word
mi plus painful episode or twitch, minus abbr. spelling. The other is the plural
sh4 and 6, joe ____
so7, wa6 and 7, wi6 and 7, all similar
ti4 ____canoe and tyler too
well, have i hit any for you amanda?

hi all :)
AMANDACATH - thnk night before christmas
hi ata
Hi Atalante
hi ata
Hi Atalante
the baby was di4 in the water for the first time, and laughed at the new sensation...
Wide receiver the Vikings traded for an '88 Pinto and waffle fries...
gotta work, everyone - bbl
bye The Fiz
bye fiz
Farewell Fiz...
douglas used a wooooord
mmm, waffle fries
ugh - got thrown out there for a minute. So.... had that past tense one, must now go back and look at what else you threw at me
what are waffle fries?
fries that look like waffles - really. Not kidding. ;-)
they are french fries in the shape of waffles. the greater surface area allows for more condiments/ grease/ salt
oooo wow!
they are REALLY GOOD
they sound it!
I'm hungry now ..
sewed
same here!
idiot
i am now totally unsatisfied w/ my can of soup for lunch...

wow - this is waaaayyyy too slow - bbl
complete breakdown here - geez, what's going on?
Server just imploded.
I just added some new stuff to the site. Refresh your pages, everyone, or you will get some weird behavior.
I'm getting the list and finishing before anything else happens!
weird behavior? no kidding!!!!
Weird behavior besides the server crashing constantly. ;)
is it because of the size of the grids, or is that just a coinky-dink?
Just a coinky-dink
hehe, lucky us! thanks for letting us know what's going on though, it's appreciated
so what's new?
hi amanda! i'm frantically adding words before anything else happens...
Hi Feather
hey there abe!
how are ya?
thanks Dr_G -- thought I had broken babble again... :-)
pretty good...well, been better....tired, headache, and want to get as many words in as i can before i nap. hi stid!
afternoon, all =)
i hope you feel better. there is a cold going around . v. inconvenient
hi specificity
hi spec!
it's a migraine trying to pummel its way past my tylenol and coke, and i'm valiantly ignoring it...
**sends healthy, anti migraine vibes**
ty. i'll probably be fine once i take a nap. too stubborn right now though.
feather, sorry about the migraine... *spikes coke with extra caffeine*
thanks stid. how've you been feeling lately?
I want to apologize for my sudden departure last night. I was too tired to deal with something and came to a reasonable ending point. Normal story time tonight?
I am better, feather. The knee is almost pain-free :-)
ooh! I forgot to change icons! LOL brb
yay!
what is today's theme (too lazy to look at angelsong's page )?
US Open
really? oh, i love to watch tennis. my grandmother got me into it and i have great memories of us following the tournament together
stupid windows OS... I'll play with it later.
my icon is andre agassi, in honor of his final us open
thanks feather :)
yup
wow, i didn't need to refresh, it's there new!
i waited half an hour to put i my last two words. FIREWORKS
yay inge!!!!!
congrats Inge!
Hooray for inge!
I now have less than 2*2*2*2*2*2*2 words to go!
just in case you want to know, the fireworks work very well :)
go Douglas!
YAY inge!
okay, going to head out for a bit to check the laundry and all. Inge, I plan on being here at 9 game time if that will work for you tonight?
see you later stid!
ok, 78 left. naptime.
sleep well and feel better feather
i will be here, if I get away from my doctor. Have a 2;15 appointment. Have been procrastinating terribly, so she may run every test available.
sweet dream, feather
okay, Will pick up where I left off last night. Hope all goes well, inge.
*disappears in a flurry of letters*
no wonder our words dont fit, stid just took some of the letters with her!!!
woo-hoo! Fireworks for me!
I may be a geek if I buy something for $1.27 at a convenience store, and inform the clerk that 127 is a Mersenne *****.
yay Amanda! lol Inge
you would definitely be a geek, Douglas
bravo, Amandacath
*goes to hang up laundry* - brb!
Hooray for amandacath!
Yay! Babble's back ..
Hello, Babblers! How many words today?

cat language is allowed? pfthhhhhh wh4 a load of hooey
back for a little while - anyone need any clues?
amanda, may i have the 8? i have the se 8...thanks!
what a detective did, abe
thanks amanda
yw
I have a random-sounding question for those who know Sprite. What sort of tree would you think of when thinking of Sprite?
What letter does this other 8 start with? (not the se)...
A belching tree?
also an s, Gadget
clue for the se8 please?
partial roof?
brb
thanks abe!
Ata - hmmm, something peppy, if a tree can be peppy...not a willow, not an aspen, not a mimosa, not an oak...
yw smaller
so 7/36?
Atalante - silver birch
amanda, the whomping willow from harry potter had some zip to it
so7/36 - frontier houses roofed with chunks of growing grass
I know its a strange question lol, I'm designing a tree tattoo for her, and I'm just interested in how others would "translate" her as a tree
whomping willow! is that a complement or not LOL!
this is true, smaller. I was thinking more along the lines of weeping willow = not Sprite
complement or compliment?
Hi can I please have an as5 clue?
ermmmm whichever lol can't spell today :P
lol ata
atalante-i don't know sprite but i like the whomping willow. it's very ... "sassy". is sprite sassy?
yes, I think we'd describe Sprite as sassy
there are days when i would LOVE to be the whomping willow
hmm. I can get the first 3 letters from your so7/36 clue Vicuna, but not the last 4
how 'bout the tree of knowlede of good and evil? Or what's that Saxon tree at the middle of the world? *googles*
Hi can I please have an as5 clue?
there are days I'd like to whomp a willow...
Inge, think of it as an adj having to do with the first three letters, then make it pl.
lupe, isn't that banned in certain states? hahahaaha
(Inge2, that is!)
only if your caught
ata, i don't know sprite but there's the story in greek mythology where daphne, running, changes into a tree, a bay laurel i think
Yggdrasil? actually, I've been thinking along those lines
as 5/10: rear end + ai
LOLOLOLOL
that's it Ata! You're faster than google!
thanks
Got it, Vicuna, new word for me. thx
Tree of Life is a pretty much universal symbol, with minor changes according to culture.
bbl
perhaps I should start up a new search engine then and make tonnes of money :)
...**** kindles the fires of American history."
oil isn't in there, Douglas .... :P
No, but it should be...
If there were oil in the grid, there's be companies drilling it and the whole grid would be ruined for everyone else.
(I mean "there'd be")
very true, Vic!
Or the US would invade it ..
I'm at halfway! Woo-hoo! I'm going to lunch! bbl all
But luckily no oil... just an almost limitless supply of ernes and etnas.
ooh I have an issue with so7,36 .. its a plural word, yet the singular isnt allowed? aagh!
Lesson Number 1: the Babble dictionary makes no sense. Lesson Number 2: Now that you're annoyed about some inconsistency, the Babble dictionary still makes no sense.
Wise words, vic ..
xunil: in this case, the singular is spelled with a "Y"
hehehe . thanks
Lesson Number 3: you can get sympathy from your fellow Babblers, but the Enable dictionary will NEVER make sense.
It's a plural of SODDY
(No, actually the -ie ending is an acceptable alternate.)
it's not a real word anyway, is it?
Hi can I please have a clue for the last de 5?
Yes, amandacath, this one really is legit!
well, whaddya know! Lara - got divorced?
lara - morning watered
hey smaller! hey all!
Hello, Temple Owl.
thanks for the clue?
amandacath are you talking to me?
yeah, Lara - more like annulled the marriage (although it actually means what xuni said, but that's not as much fun)
Oh ok I was confused thinking nooo I m stilled married
Not too many people think divorce is fun, amandacath! :)
oh, now I see the confusion
(though admittedly I've never tried it myself)
Hiya! hey Temple and smaller!
although some people must think so, Vic - they do it often enough!
It's a veritable hobby for some, i guess!
Hey ypsi areyou out there...
Freedom for some ..
hey chic and temple owl!! nice to see you ladies!
she was here earlier, Lara - think she bowed out when the server got wonky
(Just teasing, Torgone. I know you don't feel too cheerful about your ex!)
k thanks I guess I will just call...
(Cheerful that she IS ex, though)
Exactly, thanks ..
I could use a clue please for the first di 6,27. I think I am going around the wrong turn or something. Thanx
ditto here Merk
Merk - it's twisty-turny: the royal di6/27, tiara
hi all, total today>?
fireworks! finally-- I've been at this on and off all day thanks to the slow response!
Oh wow! Was it ever. I never went above the double d's. Thanx.
$2.00 wal
(that's at a penny a word)
thanks amanda
thankss tor. I am exactly 1/4 of the say through, then!
(But you never know when the going rate might change.)
no prob!
clues before I go?
Actually, I was asking for a bribe. Mail me $2.00, and then I'll tell you how many words ..
$2.00? can I paypal you?
wa 6/36 please?
fireworks
There's a $7.50 convenience fee . . .
it's the wa7 minus a consonant if that helps
ah. thats the catch.
:-P
so many of the 7s are nonesensical (and similar) today.
wash
oops
well grace, that would explain why i don't have ANY of them.
many of the 7s end like ki**** (children) or old bi**** (old women)
thanks!
Well, I'm outta here! Have fun with the rest of the grid!
is the m7 like a nooner? hahahahaha
my word list for the first time became strange...doubles of some of the words and that is reflected in my tile stats...has anyone had this problem before?
refresh doesn't correct it
pinecone, dr god was working on stuff earlier, try a message to him
Dunno, pinecone. Sorry.
pinecone05- This is due to a change I made earlier
I'll fix your list
What a guy!
He's soooo.....lurky.
Dr_God, you are my hero
It's the deus ex machina, himself.
hey dr. god, did the rankings get screwy? mine just plummeted 20 points since this morning?
oh, hello everyone( and dr. god). forgive my rudeness
hi abe and everyone
abe, is your cold getting better
hi all, back for a little. Taking things in increments today.
oh! I still forgot to change my icon... *sigh* no brains today.
Stid, how are you feeling, hope you are better
Hello, stidmama. How are you today?
hi annie. it's a little better, thanks! have a bit of medicine head!
pinecone05-
hi guys
pinecone05- Refresh your page. I think I deleted all the doubles.
Hi wassup
hi wassup
Wassup, wassup?
abe79- The rankings page might be screwy. Let me know if it doesn't correct itself tonight at 1:00am CT.
i feel the need to let everyone know that i'm planning to be unproductive today. i might shower, but that's it.
thanks Dr. God!
wassup, i admire your commitment!
thank you, thank you...
Dr_God i wonder if you could also fix the 4 letter words on anglesongs Page ?l
wassup, do you feel better now that you told us you are not going to do a dammmmmmm thing today. Good for you!!!!
Abe, before I looked at the larger version of you icon, all I could see was a viking sort of guy with a white shirt, huge blue mustache, and helmet that goes down his nose...
yes annie. it's like a weight's been lifted. i can comfortably loaf around today.
vicuna, that's exactly what i saw too!
Maybe it's the not showering enough that's affecting our vision...
perhaps.
Shalom everyone
hi arb
arb, shalom, how are things?
Hello, ARB.
okay, properly attired!
shalom, ARB!
Hot and humid, Annie, on the Mediterranean coast.
Yvo -- Angelsong maintains her pages separately. What is the problem?
lol vicuna. i debated changing the icon because it looks really funny when its small
arb, wish i was there
I have a question .. How's come my small icons don't always update with the larger ones??
August is NOT the time to be in Tel Aviv.
Hi ARB
she said to contact Dr_GOD just wanted the 4 letter list
What is today's theme. I hate to change my icon -- it so expresses my sentiments1
arb, any time is the time to be in Tel Aviv. God bless you all and keep you safe
ah. I see.
The theme is the U.S. Open, today, ARB -- personally I think chocolate fits EVERY theme!
Annie, bless you. You remind me that weather ain't everrything.
TY Stidmama. Chocolate goes with everything.
Hi - I agree, not a good time to be in Tel-Aviv!
ok, weather isn't everything!!!!!

Whew, I'm glad someone got my Hitchhiker's Guide reference! :)
how could it miss, Vi? :-)
great book vicuna
I'm going to keep trying edda until it takes it ...
It's one of our boys' favorite bedtime storybooks -- and the TV show from the BBC is a regular rainy saturday treat for us!
Well, let us know how you get on, torgone. But I think I should refer you back to my Rules Number 1 and 2 as stated earlier!
you want to hear the BBC radio show, Stidmama
torgone, different vowel ending
I could never stand the Trillian on the BBC TV version, though.
afternoon everyone.
I did, years ago Atalante -- one of these days I'll try to get it for the boys.
hi charm
hi Charm!
Howdy, Charm.
I know, annie .. just more Enable whining ..
he5,22, hint pleas
sorry torgone
I view that Trillian as a perfect icon of the times -- it just makes the show sillier.
you should, stid - its *fab*!
he5/22 - what George Washington did to the cherry tree wood.
So does anyone know why Lickety has 2 more words than the Babble Page word list?
missing an ad4/5 - have the mine entrance
he 5/22 -- cut down a tree, past tense
okay, how DOES one spell "demitass"?
demitasse
*gack* cold coffee.
Hello there wassup!
with an E on the end, Stid...
amy! i was just going to call you
oh -- another "so close" thanks, peri!
demitass*E*
ad 4/5 fusses
any time stidmama
hi all. wassup i'm struggling with the same beverage. why is iced coffee so good and cold coffee so bad?
I'm in a meeting... yes and I am babbling anyway :)
thanks ARB, I deserve a smack with a fish for missing that one
lol amy! i'm on a conference call
fiz, i don't know! it's true though!
yeah, i'm even taking meeting minutes - talk about multi tasking
So what happens if everyone tells jokes so funny that Amy and Fiz can't help laughing out loud?
Fiz, just read the story on your profile -- so sorry! Similar to the reason I don't play volleyball. Who knew a nun could lob one of those things so hard?
babbling, chatting and taking minutes. awesome
wokka wokka wokka
lol stidmama! nuns are tough ladies.
thank god for the mute button on phones!
so, this horse walks into a bar...
Well, I am doing laundry and playing Babble
How do you get a nun pregnant?
I really want to get to 100 words without a list... only 29 to my goal!
amy you're a star. i'm just listening - and on MUTE so don't waste your time.
bartender says, "why the long face?"
and the bartender says, why the long face?
nice.
a termite walks into a bar and says...
I'll bite Torgone. How?
torgone? I'm waiting...
Can hardly wait for the punchline....something about a habit???
funny, torgone
"is the bar tender here?"
"is the bar tender here?"
And the horse says, "You moron. I'm a HORSE! What's your f*%$@@* PROBLEM???"
afternoon gang- site behaving now?
haha vicuna
*clean* punchline = Dress her up like an altar boy.
Hi wolvie!!!!
hi annie. :-)
yes, Wolvie, site is fine. It's the babblers I am concerned about....
a string walks into a bar. the bartender says, sorry, we don't serve strings here.
ooh, good one torgone
looks good to me, stid. ;-0
True, Stidmama
torgone -- how can I explain things like that to my kids?
still need second ed6 please
the string walks outside, ties himself up in the middle, and ruffles up his hair.
ooh, very funny
plural of ed4/6
ahhh - a string with a fringe, eh?
stid, tell them to ask their dad
Peri, you said you had it! It's the pl boy's name.
ed6 - last name of one of Jack the Ripper's victim....
Sorry, didn't know littlies were about .. I won't even go near the dirty punchline then ...
Oh, now I'm all backwards, peri. But you've been clued for noth, just in the wrong order!
he walks back into the bar, and the bartender eyes him suspiciously. "aren't you a string?" asks the bartender?
I meant second ed4/6
(Clued for both, I mean.)
thanks tor. *smoothes out ruffled mama feathers*
No, I am KNOT!
the string looks at the bartender innocently and says, "no, i'm a frayed knot". (better aloud)
ROFL hysterically at Vi's joke!
and Fiz!!!!
(Oh, yeah, Fiz, that's better your way.)
What do you put on a pig with a scrape?
i play a bar trivia game and this week they had a category of bar jokes, sorry. got one more but i'll wait for tor.
What do you calll such a pig, tor?
barbecue sauce, tor?
The duck goes into the CVS and says, "Give me some chapstick, please...
bacon grease?
"And put it on my bill."
Oinkment
oinkment
wow...
LOL - cute to and vic
wah, wah, wah....
LOLOLOLOLOL okay -- that's one I am relaying to the 11 year old...
See, I can do kids jokes ...
two priests walk into a bar
see - I'm much more bloody minded.
My grandson will love those
lol vi! a giraffe walks into a bar and says....
the third one ducks
yep. That was classic!
found the 2nd ed4/6
highballs on me!
hee fiz!
love that one xunil!
good one xun
(one more for the kids) what do you do when you see a spaceman?
amy, how we doing...?
*grant is thinking about this one, Fiz*
I dunno. What do you do when you see a spaceman?
ok i'll give it a minute....
grant says "take him to my leader"
Though I must say, with all these animals always walking into bars and stores and such, how come I've never managed to see one?
park in it, man!
I think the correct thing to do would be to say, "How do you do?"
hehe
wocka wocka wocka. i'll be here all week.
grant got it! he thinks that is really clever!
Ha ha, Fiz! No fair with the written punctuation!
okay, eyeball break. Back later.
Hi Nancy! (I'm a bit slow)
Oh wait! I have a really cool thing to report! :-)
every kid over 8 that i've ever told that to liked it. gotta keep a clean one in your back pocket for the young'uns
ooh ooh stid what?
My chestnut tree in front of the house ___has A chestnut on it___ for the first time since I planted it 6 years ago! :-)
I wasn't sure I would ever get any.... so this is really cool. And I can see it when I sit on the sofa with the computer!
cool, my marigold plant is finally blooming. (small steps for the black thumb)
YAY for the chestnut.
*singing* chestnut roasting on an open fire...
That is cool, stidmama.
ah stid, takes me back, there was a long row of them up the street on my way to first grade
all right, wassup!!!! our marigolds are healthy, but were planted late so not quite to bloom stage.
Oh I have been watching your jokes. Finally decided to take the plunge today and ***Fireworks*** in spite of all the slowness and troubles with the grid.....however, I have worked myself into a frazzle...and now don't know if I am able to do any of my real work, how are you today???
such beautiful blooms
are we talking puzzle-wise or in general? because puzzle-wise i am sucking
yay nancy! i haven't done a full day of work since i discovered babble!
Hello, Nancy. Congrats on the fireworks!
congrats, nancy!
I really like to eat chestnuts, and I don't think the squirrels will get to them... of course the blooms on the edible trees are not as spectacular as horse chestnuts, but i was satisfied.
YAY Nancy!
congrats on finishing Nancy
Babble comes before all, except chocolate.
oh, that's what i meant...
oooh, nice icon uneaixoise
them's mah boys!
Hooray Nancy!!!!! I'm in fairly fine fettle today. Also avoiding work like mad. .
and now I really really am heading out for a bit. Laundry needs folding and kids need mama-ing. see you tonight
can we share?
Stuck again. I need the sh 4,5 and at the end of the list sh 4,6 and sh 6,24. Thanx
that was such a great match they had at wimbledon
ARB, isn't that the truth....I have been adicted to this game for ages but can't play when the grid is so large that I don't get any work done at work.
indeed!
taking the kids with you stid? b/c i've got another joke that would require some 'splainin that i'm sure you don't want to do...
my daughter just dropped a scrapbook and it exploded.
sh 4/5 is past tense for a vulgar expression
ohhhhh, no, wassup.
work is overrated Nancy
yep. kids are heading out -- though I don't know about other people's youngsters...
take away her pennies wassup!
OK, I wondered about that. Thanx. And the ones at the end of the sh list?
yeah i'll ask around. not too far across the line but right on it...
sh 4/6 is from an old Lil Abner cartoon -- a white caracter. sh 6/24 is the plural
Lil Abner, I'm not that old. Now what do I do?
she was all dramatic about it. "Mom! You HAVE to see this. I don't want to be in trouble! Please? Don't get me in trouble! Waaaah."
hand her a glue stick and have her put it back together, wassup. merk - joe sh** - a regular guy
Merk, it's also a slang expression for someone dumb and slow
Abe, yes but I haven't figured out how to pay the mortgage without doing something resembling work.
i'll let you know when i figure that one out, Nancy :)
resembling being the operative word, nancy. you can look quite busy while babbling...
That's me today ... dumb and slow. I can't figure how to go past using the w which I used in the sh 4,9 and 6,36.
merk, look at the other sh
sh + one of the 3 stooges
Merk, go the other way on the grid -- up and left
hey Merk, you Might want to use your iMitial
Oh, yes Fiz, I have figured that out...otherwise I would have a serious case of Babble withdrawal. I am extremely good at resembling.......
There's Moe, Curly, and the one I can't think of, right?
Tor, what is it you are resembling today???
evening all
Try the first one you said without the last letter
I'm right there with you, Nancy .. I mostly sit at a computer all day, so Babble is a natural ..
moe seems to have had a terrible stooge related accident in which he lost the last letter on his name, merck
iMitial ?
hi oggy
fireworks
i'M trying to give you a hiMt, Merk - give a little poetic license.
YAY Sha.
Yay for sha.
yay sha!
I am dying of laughter. What a hoot! Thanx. I am one of those today.
i'm getting nowhere. i'm going to the list
Congrats!
yay sha!
thanx all bye
congrats, sha!
so - a penguin is driving through the desert when his car breaks down.
Usually, I resemble a bag of bowling balls in a chair ..
Well, calendar boy, with the previous life you have had, you need to sit down for awhile. Honestly, yo are such a trip....
And everyone says of torgone, "Now THERE is a guy with some serious balls!"
he manages to get himself to a gas station before it completely dies. the mechanic takes a look at him sitting there sweating, and tells him to wait inside while the mechanic puts the car up on the lift.
lol vicuna! i can't quite picture a bag of bowling balls in a chair but i'm sure it's charming.
the penguin goes inside the office where there's a big chest freezer - he pulls it open and hops inside to wait.
cojone's
OMG, I used to be an avid bowler and the image you have created is hilarious....what a hoot you are.
that was for tor. ;-)
wolfgang puck express is SO not worth going to :)
the mechanic walks around the car, puts it on the lift, looks under the chassis, hems and haws and checks out the various tubes and hoses.
sorry klaurel. good to know.
uh oh, i'm sorry you were disappointed klaurel
Thank you ..
now, if this grid will load. GRRRRRRRR
to bad, kl - hope the grid loads
it wasn't so much disappointment as in, I expected kinda a faster gourmet meal, when the stuff there was pretty m uch what i can get anywhere else
first time here...finally figured out what the grid was on bottom...great puzzle...
i like the fact that there is no time limit...you can really take your time an dlook at it...
so...the mechanic figures out the problem and walks inside to tell the penguin the problem.
so it was lacking in the 'gourmet' aspect
Not only "can" you, scorpioba, but you WILL...
He pulls open the freezer and says, "looks like you blew a seal". and the penguin wipes his mouth and says, "no, it's just ice cream".
lol
abe, pretty much. :) I had a salad (which was yummy, but nothing special) and my mom had BBQ rotisserie chicken, which was yummy, but I can get at my grocery store
oh my gosh. fiz...you're awesome. and sick.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
oooooooooooooooooooooh, Fiz
hi all & welcome to babbleland scorpioba! Be prepared to get addicted.
LOL Fiz. klaurel, was it expensive?
LOL Fiz! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fiz. ;-)
well tahnk you all
you guys have me pegged. funny and sick pretty much sums it up.
thank*
abe, actually no, mom and I ate for $20 and my daughter shared. There was a lot of food, I will give them that
hush-hush, Fiz. don't scare off a new victim, uh, I mean, fellow babbler ....
mixes
addicted? what addicted? We don't get addicted. We merely ignore the housework and kids while we do the puzzle
=O
shhh, scorpioba! other box!
oops
First Lesson, scorpioba, beware where your cursor is when you type words!!!
thanks scorpio. didn't have that one yet! :)
Truly initiated now . .

career work, casmearwork
Fizzziieeee!!!!
i grew up in mr. rogers neighborhood. well one neighborhood over but he used to go to the library in my neighborhood. wasn't that creepy.
The good thing about a babble player is that people always know where to find you!
so that's what happened to you
but who names a character for a kids show mr. mcfeeley? wouldn't fly now...
Technical writing, scmechni . . . .Nah, doesn't quite work . .
mr mcfeely is a loony. i so wouldn't let him in my house.
lol tor. yiddish goes with everything.
nice try tor
i think i still have a lady elaine puppet somewhere. my sister used to hold the bottom of her dress and whack me with her big plastic head.
my kids grew up watching Mr. Rogers...i always felt there was something a little strange there but he was my hour long babysitter.
halfway! isn't it melonhead who says she/he's achieved mediocrity? Well i have. :)
hello everyone. this is a hard grid for me today. i need a clue for the last ai4 and as5 please.
cracking me up fiz.
handyman negri was a serious stage actor. he's in flashdance (also filmed in pittsburgh)
Fiz, For heaven's sake, you have oodles of issues. No wonder you are so funny and sick.
lol wassup! good to have something to strive for!
flashdance? really?
magzel hearing ai4
ok, i need some advice...i'm going to a "white trash bash" on Saturday. What should I wear?
as 5 - sounds like essay.
mag. as.5=your rear end and 2 vowels
zip back jeans with little bows on the ankles with white pumps, wassup.
jeans, for sure
and a too-tight kenney chesney t-shirt.
Anything Brittney Spears would wear
daisy dukes and a ripped white tank top covering a black bra.. oh and bare feet
i used to have acid washed jeans with the zipper and the bows...
or an oversize nascar shirt tied up at the hip.
too true, tor
i actually have all that amy...
thanks for the as. i have the hearing **** one
Mag, what you breathe plus the cross letter.
yo yo yo
torgone, you are too much!!!! ROFL
ai 4/5 wherefor ai** thou
perfect, you've got the outfit already.
wassup, it is scary that you have all that! :)
yo yo yo froe
Hello froe
hey girlies. supwitchoo?
well, i have it at my fingertips...i can cut some old jeans and stain one of my husbands "wife beaters"
what up froe? holla!
thank you, got it now
hehehe!
wassup the jeans have to be so tight that you have to undo the zippers to get them over your feet, and that you need a pair of pliers to zip the fly.
wassup, it's all about either cut-offs and heels or cut-offs and boots
i could just go like i'm dressed right now. unshowered, stretched out old sweats, t-shirt and my scratched crooked glasses... yeah, i'm hot.
froe - *love* your icon (and Labyrinth, too).
hey, wassup, thats the other way to go. just drop a little nacho cheese or bbq sauce down the front of the shirt.
my sister is going to take her two babies in just their diapers.
why, thank you charm :)
i like that idea fiz
she needs to make sure they have something sticky all over them
do the sweats have those little pills all over the backside? b/c that's *key*
i should smell like smoke and beer too...
LOL fiz...
eat some cheese curls first and wipe your hands on the hem.
wassup, have you seen the "Vacation" movies? you could dress up like Randy Quaid's character (who is actually int he grid today)
"that there's a RV. Don't go falling in love with it though. I'm taking it with me when I leave here next month"
mmm.... cheese curls *drool*..........
black dickie with a white sweater...
and i would say *defintely* show up with a jello/coolwhip mold with the fruit slices suspended it it. i've got a great recipe for one from my grandmother.
dashs
or you could add kitty food to the mix??
woops sorry
mmm, kitty food.
sarah, you sicko.
"save the neck for me, clark"
i'm half NY jew and half midwestern fundamentalist semi-white-trash - talk about funny and sick, you should be around the table for thanksgiving dinner.
i was thinking about going to goodwill today to get some inspiration. maybe a looney toons t-shirt will catch my eye.
you could wear a looney toons tee with a skirt
abe, that's a family favorite. the movie, not the neck.
that's the route your mom and haley went
i love haley's
wow, abe we're thinking alike?
same here wassup! my mom and i are constantly quoting it...
you know what else would be good would be a pantera/motorhead/other sucky metal band shirt.
great minds think alike, wassup :)
awesome. i need to get some blue eyeshadow and aquanet too
or white jeans. white jeans go with everything.
mmm, white jeans
they do indeed fiz
i need the first di 6/27 please and di 4/5 the last one please
especially if they'r really really tight and you've got a darker panty line.
talk about HOT. smokin'
my sister just went to a vow renewal for a couple at her church. they've only been married 8 years... she said she got some serious inspiration for the party.
i like the idea of 90's neon spandex.....
magzel- short for father, add a vowel + rapper whose real name is marshal mathers
ha5/16 please
speaking of which - do you smoke, wassup? b/c it's super white trash to actually chain smoke - light one off the other. or to bring your own foam beer can cozy.
ooh, the foam beer can cozy is a good one
i don't smoke, but i can!
and you have to be holding a messy baby on your hip
i also need to go to one of those vending machines that sell the really quality fake tattoos. need to have one on my cleavage
and isn't it interesting that "white trash" is both a racial and classist slur and yet we all feel comfortable using it. just a sociological observation before i return to giving advice.
and the ashes from you cigarette should be falling on the baby
ha 5/16 sounds like god of t he underworld, past tense
*your
heehee
ohh, yeah, annie. let the ash from the cigarette get really really long and fall on everything.
i should just crash the party in my zombie garb and eat all the trashy humans... mmmm.. the other white (trash) meat.
thanks abe, had the singular and plural but not past tense
you should come!
LOL I wish I could see this party! You should post photos in Babblers Anonymous Wassup -sounds like the Golsie Hawn part in Overboard!
yw peri. the party sounds like fun wassup
oops Goldie
i can't drink for a week due to crappy antibiotics!! *grumble grumble* *shakes fist*
i think i'm going to go shower. this whole unproductive thing just "ain't" (see, i'm practicing) me
ha4/5 please
anyone have the first wi 6
i will do that snowy! i'll figure out a way to show off the pictures.
shucks froe b/c they're bound to have quality beverages at the party.
NM fund it
found it
tons and tons of pabst, no doubt
i suggest Hi-C and vodka spritzers if the cheap beer doesnt' get you going.
haha!
jaime- wi 6 has the double consonant, sounds like k****** pool
wassup do you know how to shotgun beer cans? my cousin taught me when we were kids. very trashy.
mmmm, pbr. love 'em both - the beer and the bull riding.
anyone have the tw 7? shot gunning beer technique was featured on the john cusack movie "the sure thing"
thanks, abe
no, never done it, but i'm going to try it this weekend!
yw jaime
tw7 like 2 scottish people playing golf.
ok, i'm off now. see you all later. i'll let you know how it goes
i have to admit, fiz, i can drink a LOT of that crap! its like alcohol-pee-water (not that i'd drink pee...)
bye wassup
bye wassup - can't wait to hear about it.
bye wassup have fun
bye wassup
thanks Fiz
what now, fiz? i don't understandyour tw 7 clue
i like to say, froe, that pbr/natural light/etc. are like someone dranka guiness and peed it out into the can. none of the buzz but all of the calories!
jaime - 4 peole playing golf are a four so4/5. take the scottish form of 2 and add so4/5.
true, i must admit. but i think the ABSOLUTE worst beer in the world is budweiser. it just ain't right. i'll drink virtually anything but bud. and mactarnahans
ei5/12 please
ahhh, thanks!
does anyone have clues for do7 and last do5 please
flosey - do7 - frumpy (pl)
yw.
do 5 rhymes with thing you did at during the curtain call
speaking of do7 - anyone watch project runway?
OH MY GOD yes
okay, sorry, was concentrating on my puzzle. Time to ask for help for myh last 10
how bad did they make the moms look? i felt so bad for the one who cried....
Fireworks! Thanks for the help with the Three Stooges and Lil' Abner. Couldn't have done it without the Babble Gang.
WI 6/36
i don't like it as much t his season fiz, wh 4/9 do you think?
WI 7/52
they all looked horrible
WI 4/10 (the last one)
thanks peri, got it - still looking for the last do5
"i'm gonna make the dress i want to make - and apparently i will choose to put some sort of weird vest on top - and if you don't like it too bad for you."
wi 6/7- rhyme with k****** pool
that was so mean
kl....wi 7. 52 rhymes with blouses worn to assembly at school
congrats on finishing Merk
Thanks, abe. I was sure I had that one
I'm not loving this season either - some of the cahracters are great but a lot of the good ones - that weird guy from taiwan especially - got bumped off early.
guess maybe I tried to put it when the system freaked?
yay merk!
PI 5/22?
it seems very fixed this season
congrats, merk
PR 5/14 (last one)
it seems like that happens to many reality shows - people start to figure out the "types" and then they pick one to play, just as the producers figure out what the audience is into and amplifies that - the whole thing winds up seeming a little hollow.
laurel = its a type of number
or a kind of rib.
ME 5/14 second one
like they have to keep somebody who is a jerk, even if he/ she isn't talented
aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggg
thanks, Annie
i know i know.....
Klaurel - me5/14 + me +consonant and double vowels at the end
or a group of lions and plural
what's the matter scorp?
stuck for a moment
*singing like bono* and you can't get out of it.
Sonny?
got those the last 5/14. :)
wi5/28 and wi7/68 please
when a spouse passes, peri
I'm stuck, too...how did you guys get to be soooo good at this thing??
no fly-goggle-leather-pants-in-refugee-ca mp-un-goodwill-ambassador bono.
okay so waht is up with the code you guys are using to ask each other for help?
Wi 5/28, an man with a wife who died
peri - he lost his wife
abe don't get your clue, when
and the past tense of that
yes, how do you know what the 2nd letter is? and how many points it should be?
I got the wi5 thanks
i'm trying to clue this one without using words from the grid
and how many letters long it will be?
woah, woah, whoah - that's a *woman* who's *husband* died, kids - add an 'er' for the man.
Jill, scroll down to Angelsong or Lickety Babble clues
i think i am doing pretty good
135 words left
FYI, the wi5/28 is a woman whose husband has died and not the other way around :)
the man who lost is wife is not in the grid
754 pts
judy massive slacking. if you focus on the grid and let the world around you fall apart it's easy.
yes he is....
right fiz, never do remember those! never having been either
ew4/8 means: starts with ew, has 4 letters; worth 8 points
jilll- the tiles all have a value which are added up. thanks for the clarification peri
good for you, scorp
the last two SHs?
right annie, it's the woman who lost spouse
see you all later
not bad scorp. i've been so chatty i've still got 104 left.
bye abe
I see now. This is my first visit. I have been at it for over an hour and only up to 102 words
whoops, annie, got the wrong person
not too bad for first time
I'm at 110...best yet...
Have firework fantasies though...
I should probably lose this link. It could become a horrible time-suck for me
That's good, Jilll .. I've been at it all day (on and off) and only have 129 ..
Must. Find. EVERY.WORD.

@ssh@at is a word! Just not in this dictionary!
any help with the last two SHs?
any clues for last do5/22 please
cool story jillibus!
The game uses the Enable Dictionary as the arbiter of which words are accepted. It was compiled by illiterate bush babies in the tenth century.
yes jilli, thought it was you !
that explains why all those archaic currencies are accepted.
i like the illiterate bush babies phrase.
Glad somebody noticed, flosey! I guess jilll didn't.
flosey - try big breasted without the first two letters. :) (well - en*****)

flosey - love you little tennis player! (But your profile still talks about golden toes)
laurel, did you ever read Lil Abner? they had little critters that multiplied like crazy
joe sh** is someone random. And then add another vowel and a plural

PR 5/14 and SA 4/5
pr 5/14, is a 35 week older missing a vowel
don't know if this is the one you're missing klaurel, but like the pr5 for the number or rib, with an italian vowel ending instead of the E

i monkeyed it, but though, nah, this can't be a word!!

true. ;-)
hello babble-onians
hi chj
ohhhhhhhhh
heyorens
hi chj
hi chj!
hi chj. hursh you ok?
wolvie...hows the grid for everyone
you done chj?
hey fizzie
yes, i got it down to 4 last night and polished it off this morning
good deal, if I can ever get 1 hour at a time here - just a busy day
sometimes when you guys call me fizzie i feel like i have gas.
not a bad grid, in my opinion.....much appreciated after the last two marathon days
but i like it - expecially since stid says she thinks of strawberry soda :)
not only were moe and shemp in the grid taday but shemp was in the times puz today...it must be some kind of omen but i cant figure out what it portends
plop plop fiz fiz - oh what a relief it is - any type of, too. ;-0
fine fiz i just groan when we don't win
strawberry fizzies ..yummmmmmmm
remember those candies? fizzies? putrid flavor, i thought
strawberrie fit lots of ways too.
s
so don't lick me, dorens. i'm fine with that.
lol fiz
summer camp and fizzies in a collapsible cup....ah those were the days
ahhh fiz, it has been my dream to lick you
i hear it gives a pleasant tingling sensation, dorens...
Oh do I need to cover my eyes?!!!
nah, snowy - it's all virtual
Perhaps I ought to cover my mind then!
quite virtual. anyway, just read your tennis story fiz and reminds me of one of my skiing experiences!
lol snowy!
hee!
a brown frat house hazing ploy...have the pledge put an alka selzer in his mouth and swig some club soda ....then wait for the explosion
aw, thought we were gonna get that one
it's b/c after a horrible accident i had to be sealed permanently in a shell of poprocks.
fizzies probably work well too
yes but they taste putrid, chj.
who wants an anti-pc joke?
but they add color to the explosion
what was the site with the cola & mentos film we saw a few months ago? Fantastic gassy display.
anti - pc, does that mean pro Mac?
don't know snowy but they just did it on "mythbusters".
go for it, fiz
letterman did that on late night
yes, snowy, and david lettermen had them on right after that
um, sure, dorens. that's exactly what it means.
mi 7/40? DIdn't get the earlier clue.
woohoo! we won on a very icky grid!
hey- i had 28, i would have won even by myself!
mi7 short for naval cadets
not maxi shirts or mini skirts
there's this crippled girl sitting on the beach and crying. the lifeguard comes over to her and asks her what's wrong. she says, "because of my condition, i've never had a boyfriend. I've never even been hugged!" the lifeguard takes pity on her and gives her a big hug.
*looks down to check belly button for mi7*
hey everyone!
hi helen
hi hk
hi helen
hey helen!
hi helen
fiz - i just read your story, lol - dontcha know - that's why you're supposed to wear helmets when you play these dangerous sports, lol
a little while later, the lifeguard walks back by, and the girl is still crying. he goes to see what's wrong. she tells him that she's never been kissed either, and so he gives her a big wet one.
hi helen
this is getting better fiz
helmet didn't have a facemask, helen.
oooooh one dinky point
later that afternoon, the lifeguard sees the girl still sitting there crying. he heaves a big sigh, and heads over to see what's going on now.
lol -you dorky kids - a helmet for tennis - what next?!?!?! heck we rode bikes! without helmets! imagine that!
he asks the girl what's going on. she looks a little embarrased, then whispers in his ear, "today is my 21st birthday, and i've never been screwed either".
here comes the punchline
yessssssssss
he says, "we can do something about that!" He picks her up and strolls down the beach with her in his arms.
he walks out into the water, tosses her in, and says, "now you're screwed!"
ahahhhhahahahhahahhahahhahahhahahahaha hhahahah
knew that was , um, coming
badum ching.
lol fiz
lol wolvie!
lol
good one fiz
woohoo, back on top!

helen just kidding about the helmet. i'm not big on safety equipment anyway - i wouldn't wear a bike helmet if i didn't live in the land of horrible driving.

I'm still not getting that mi7
thanks, Wolvie!

flosey 3 letter word for center + di4/5 for passes away.

mi7 = center + present tense of colors (hair).

Hullo all. There's an ri4 hiding somewhere in the grid--after joy ri** and before old word for rhyme--anyone?
OOps! Got it. It's tyhe first ri 4 I'm mosong
*I'm missing
retty..thats not an olsd word for rhyme...its a type of frost
and I'v e just found it. Thanks chj
arrrgh!
What's the point of Enable having a mo5/16 when it can't accept the internet?
vicuna, i think it also accepts techie but not tech . . . go figure
i can tell this is a female dominated chat since every time i mention the stooges i get greeted with a deafening silence
also, chj. before orthographgers dcided to spell rhyme the way the dictionary now does, it was spelt ri** as word for frost. I assure you tis so. Look at your chaucer
modems preseeded the internet...enable is probably 10 years old
But I used to LOVE Larry and Curly and Mo when I was a child.
*preceeded
I know, I know, there is no logic to it. But it is our duty to complain a bit.
Enable is so inconsistent-- will accept phat but not mosh
chj, )preceded
brush up your shakespeare, start learning him now
Duty calls, eh, libarebel! :)
and any racist, sexist slur is OK w/ Enable...
hi all!
Well, as you pointed out, chj, plenty of women here to wow!
precede/ proceed--crazy spellings I know
urf, urf
or edda
oh, forgot to take off my party hat...
sing the whole thing, chj
So a Skeleton walks into a bar, buys a drink and

Hi Fran. - a crown

With apologies to cole porter:Brush up your Shakespeare, Start quoting him now. Brush up your Shakespeare And the women you will wow. Just declaim a few lines from "Othella" And they think you're a heckuva fella. If your blonde won't respond when you flatter 'er Tell her what Tony told Cleopaterer, And if still, to be shocked, she pretends well, Just remind her that "All's Well That Ends Well." Brush up your Shakespeare And they'll all kowtow.

There's a guy sitting at a bar, just looking at his drink. He stays like that for half an hour. Soon, a big trouble-making truck driver steps next to him, takes the drink from the guy, and just drinks it all down. The poor man starts crying. The truck driver says, "Come on man, I was just joking. Here, I'll buy you another drink. I just can't stand seeing a man crying." "No, it's not that. This day is the worst of my life. First, I fall asleep, and I'm late to my office. My boss, in an outrage, fires me. When I leave the building to my car, I found out it was stolen. "The police say they can do nothing. I get a cab to return home and when I leave it, I remember I left my wallet and credit cards there. The cab driver just drives away. I go home and when I get there, I find my wife in bed with the gardener. I leave home and come to this bar.

let's see the last sentence read, " Chapter Twenty-Six story began 9:13 pm August 23 When we last saw Paul and Gilly, they were off to sleep, after spending several hours watching over their daughter, Doris. Paul was about to tell Gilly something he thought the children shouldn't be told. As Paul pulled back the covers, Gilly shook out her robe and set it across the end of the bed. She stretched her neck tiredly, and started to re-braid her hair. Paul watched her appreciatively. "You know, Gilly, you have changed, but only a little." She blushed and climbed into bed, pulling the blanket up over her shoulders. "What do you mean, Paul?" Gilly considered the gray hairs, the wrinkles, the freckles on her arms from being in the sun. She thought of the change in her figure as her body rearranged itself. Paul turned out the light and snuggled, "I mean, you still smile like you did when we were younger, but your eyes now tell me that you appreciate the reasons to smile." "Your hands are scarred a bit from doing more work than you should, but they remain gentle and capable." "And where you used to be have angles and edges -- " Gilly hit him with a pillow. "Stop right there, Mister!" Paul laughed, "See what I mean? Still can't compliment you on your looks!" Gilly put her pillow back and snuggled, enjoying just being still and quiet. "Paul," she whispered after a few minutes, "what was it that you wanted to tell me when the boys came in?" Paul pulled back and turned out the lamp. He grew distant and his voice quivered a bit. "She knew, Gilly -- she knew everything, it seemed." **into Paul mode without quotes on everything...** She knew where I had been, and that I had traveled several years to get there. She knew that I was married, and had many children. She knew that I was a farmer... I tried to ask her how she knew these things, but she always answered, "Some things are not for you to know yet." She did tell me that the men had been wearing chains to pull the trunk -- they didn't use leather straps or ropes for pulling the heaviest loads. She didn't tell me what was in the trunk, but she hinted that it was probably best that I not ask about it when other people were around. It was all very mysterious. But most of the ride that day was pleasant enough. She would point things out and tell me the names in three languages: ours, hers and the local tongue which was not familiar to me. The oak tree she called "house wood" and the eagle was "carrion thief" -- the pretty flower you make calming tea from was "sleep herb" and the spring bitter leaf was "iron heart." I can't remember most of the lessons, but it all made sense when she spoke. I thought often of Ava, and the long walks I would take with her and Cathy, gathering berries and roots from the edges of the fields and woods. About lunch time, we stopped at a small village that had an inn at the far side of town. I helped her out of the cart. She seemed a bit taller to me, but I thought little of it. We walked in, and the innkeeper's daughter brought good wine immediately. The woman thanked her graciously in their language and we were soon served a simple but wonderfully cooked meal of grain and meat. As we left, the woman left a beautiful ring on the table. I was astonished, for I had not noticed any jewelry on her. We continued on, and as we moved through the valley, and the pass through the mountains came into view, I began to wonder how I came there and what would happen next."

*moons? more than one? oooohh*
"Aema -- I see a chasm, a pit, a hole that is so deep and so wide that nothing could cross over it nor climb out of it. It fills the trail and cuts through the walls. Nothing grows near it. No sound comes out of it -- nothing echoes back from it."
I know I shivered as I spoke.
"I see no animals, no plants. But overhead, there is a large bird, circling. And it is bitter cold."
well, chj, that se8 clue isn't working. Any other ideas?
I shuddered and opened my eyes.
this is not for novel sharing, this is for game help
Chj, could you do the tw5 again, a little differently??
got it chj! Duh!
MaMaWa...do...way one dressed to look frumpy
tw 5 rhymes with the sound birds make
Amy, take a chill, we're cluing as Stid tells us a story.
are you not noticing all the game help, amulou?
AmyLou, Many people on the log enjoy the story. If you do not, then ignore every post that comes up with my icon. I will be done with tonight's installment soon.
email works for that
with all 100 of us?
sorry, amy, i'm afraid you're outnumbered
you are VERY rude, anmylou
Aema was watching me intently. "And?" she asked.
di 6/27 and I'm finished. pls.
"And I was afraid this time, Aema, but still I cannot call it good or bad. It simply was."
Amylou stop being antagonistic you sound like a twelve year old child. Maybe its past your bedtime.
di + first vowel + not republican, judy
shut up spangles
judy, a tiara
thx LeslieAnn
Ty Ibd

FIRWORKS - *entirely due to the generosity of chj and his fabulous clues*
Did I miss something? Is it rude night tonight?
HOOOORAY JUDY!!
whoo hoo Judy!

Again, she nodded and reached into her bag. She drew out a shirt, made of the same gossamer as her shawl. I carefully folded the blue shirt you had made me and placed it with the pants.
Go Judy!!
AmyLou, there are lots of clues around. No need to pick fights. we all babble together.
YAY Judy!!!!

a sw***buckler (pirate), bubba?
Hello elph - we're hoping the rudeness has got the message
We got back in the cart. The jenny took off at a trot. The sky was turning pink, and the walls of the mountains shone like bronze.
bubba, like errol flynn, *****buckler
Jilli, me too.
thanks!
thanks, Ibd and Les
If anyone would kindly like to clue me on that impossible as/5, I'd love to hear it.

I was no longer cold, and felt a strange sense of courage. I looked at her, and found she had braided her hair and put it up like a crown on her head.
stid, you do paint wonderful word pictures!
ahh do you like to swear as much as me, lb? ;)
see my post at 10:05 for the so 7
thanks lbdawg
jbp, do you have the mi7 or the wi7?
all i am trying to do is play the game, i just want a freaking clue and i have asked many times and no one responds.... all i asked for was the return of clues... you are the ones who attacked me, not the other way around
My last word is the tw5,20, I have been clued several times, but can't get it. Help!!!
lbdawg, i have neither
mi + ** you like it + double hump letter
leslie...i'm a former sailor...and married to one! what's that tell you!
amylou, what clue did you ask. one of us will help if we have it
As the sky grew lighter, she began to sing in a strange tongue, and I learned the chorus well enough to accompany her.
haha! we're a perfect pair!
bubba, it's a very mild insult, sometimes spelled with a different vowel
and, amylou, it is a chatterbox, not a clue hotline
so if you need a clue and didn't get it, ask again
nicely
amylou i do not have the word you're looking for. sorry.
mi 6/24 no the disease related one
wi 7 is plural of wi 6 which is wi + double consonant + third and second vowels
politely
jbp, trying to think of a clue...lawn comes in rolls of this and now you want to double the third letter and add third, second vowel and snake letter
ois it the one about where you would be if you fell off a trapeze, amylou?
Overhead, a flight of swallows joined in, weaving through the air as if dancing to the song.
mi 6/24 - an acrobat flies through mi****
mi 6 24 planes crash in mi****
yeah, all i have for the mi 6/24 is the plural of what judy clued at 10:08
that one I have lbdawger
And so we drove on toward the dawn, my worries and fears suppressed for the moment by the joy of the new day.
mi 5/14 = mi + back sp***, Leslie
center--mi* + what you breathe / mi6/24
thanks judy and mayne
jbp, that's the only so7
it was the clues having to do with the so7 that i don't have
*hits self with fish* thanks guys
mi7 and wi7 same endings
**that's it for tonight, I think, tomorrow we'll pick up the final leg to the new land**
what you plant in the lawn - so* + expires
hmmm so the mi 7 is not related to flying through mi 6 with the greatest of ease?
