yes - that is the big question - will seems hellbent on keeping jani around, so who knows
yes, helenkeller, it is a phaser and it is a clue
MG, because we can't enter some words - we are told we've already entered them when we haven't - eg "hewed"
hk, what's the first letter of your clue?

Night ch!
night chch! good work!
nite ch
good job douglas!
yw Kahlua - are you having trouble entering words too?
Done!
hi sue - grids being a little strange - is saying you entered a word, and it's not on your list
not tonight
erika & cg are in the hot tub, she is telling him not to worry, clearly she is gunning for jani
Sigh. That's already happened to me too.
"decow" should be a word
some words I've entered aren't showing up in the list - but won't let me enter them again :(
I've just changed my icon in honour of the poet whose name appears so clearly in the grid--this is not a clue, but a tribute!
it's strange mg
sue - there's a problem with some words which when typed we are told we have already entered them when we haven't - they seem to be words from yesterdays's grid - i've emailed dr g but so far nothing has changed
hetty - common problem tonight
Your protest is irrelevant, froelica
Thanks all.
elen--?--I have no problem--at least not that I
well 74 down the 91 left will have to wait till tomorrow. nite all

Hugs and ullululu back - really hope g calls tomorrow !
What exactly is one doing when one is decowing, exactly?
froelica... I agree with you... I mean... you can get decalf... why not decow... *wink*
"Decow" - that's going vegetarian, right?
lol hug!
HAHA hug! and yes, sue, that's what i was thinking. i have personally "decowed" my life
*groan* ohhhh, hugabugs!
sowwy... but it's late! I need sleep... hehe
se decowed coffee would be with soy milk????
I've recowed mine, fro.
I remember seeing a cartoon in the New Yorker where two women were having lunch...
*so
isn't decowing what happens when you go cow tipping? you're decowing the field of all its (hopefully) sleeping cows...
One says to the other, "I used to be a vegetarian because I was concerned about the suffering of animals...
Then I was a vegetarian because I was concerned about my temple. Now I do it just to piss people off."
de plane de plane ... de cow de cow?
wah wah wah....
oh groannnnnns
hehe you guys are cwazy
sate
i thought i was decowing when i refused my 3rd piece of chocolate cake
oops

goodnight everyone... I'm off to bed too
Night Fiz.
good nite hug
Night Hug.
Sorry about the "word has already been entered" bug. I just figure out why it's doing that. If you refresh the page, everything should be fine. I should have it fixed before the flip tonight. (The glitch is caused by the flip.)
thanks dr. god!!
ty drg :)
nope - refreshed & problem still here
ty dr g but I just refreshed and I'm still getting it
still not working here dr g but thx for responding
me too
After refreshing you still can't enter words that aren't on your list?
That's right dr G

lol debb - just ribbing you :)
hurrah! word entered now!
lib i can't - *hk cries 'foul'* i want extra points too!
ok, Dr G - I rebooted and all seems to be well now - thank you.
lol, helen!
I don't see any double words on libarebel's list
maybe it is lib's blurry vision then
sa4/4--of sound mind is in twice...
Yup. Reboot worked.
lib - i almost used serena in the black catsuit as my icon yesterday - that really defined her butt!
crashed & rebooted-- double words now gone...
bummer lib!
libarebel- Try refreshing to see if the double word goes away. If it doesn't, I'm going to go in-sa4/4
oh, helen, missed it!

This doesn't accept "weta"? o_O
Hi all, i have a clue icon now if anyone wants it.(maybe a little too english)
cute icon, Seano! That was one of my favourite shows when I was a kid.
poetic license on the spelling, obviously!
too english for me, seano
and mine's prbably too american for you
jill, his friend was called sweep...if you google 'and sweep' you can read about his glory days!
Don't forget Soo!
soo with her sexy voice(though i didnt realise that at the time)
Morning all Got yours jilli and your seano (bit obscure!)
morning frances - cute ne4/8 but i don't think it's a boy band!
seano - googled and i think he sounds more like su6/21
not 5/21
fireworks here
congrats
YAY YAY chj!!!
ooops, my mistake.....darned sausage fingers!!
now are you going to change your icon, chj?
yes jilli
You've lost me there jille. Boy band?
Sorry *jilli*
read your profile, frances - lol!
OOPS!
chj - I had one all picked out beforehand too, and I was wrong
ok done jilli
ah jilli, i thought you had to be from pennsylvania to know about he***
looks like the chrysler bldg
we have a winner
well, one can visit PA and find out, n'est ce pas?
oui oui
thats also a hint to a word in the grid
had that one, but your icon is still a mystery
and frances has.....she turned me into a ne** from monty python and the holy grail
which one the two ouis?
we4/8, no?
or ye4/6?
okay, i'm curious...i've been playing this for a few days now. and you all keep making references to 2 letters then a number/number. can someone give me a clue? lol if not, that's okay too. lol
si si
the two letters are the first two letters of a word in the grid
that part i kind of figured. what about the number/number part?
the first number is the number of letters in the word
the two letters are the first two of the word. then the first number is how many letters in the word and the second number is the score for that word
and fortunately, i've caught on to some of your hints...unfortunately i've had most of them already so it's not been helpful yet lol
thank you so much!!
sees
oops wrong box
well, that's 100 found now
the second number is the total point value of the word based on the numbers on the tiles for each letter times 2 for a five letter word, times 3 for a 6, times 4 for a seven , etc.
go jilli
Ive only got 45 on this one. :( Havent found one in the last 5 minutes either.
:D
this game is the reason i can't sleep at night now
oh - is your clue a 4-letter word, chj?
have you gotten my icon jilli because im gonna change it
yes
I think so
ok
whats the first letter
a?
no
but i see what youre "driving" at
hmmm - thought it had to do with the name of the bldg, see?
yah
no but the bulding design is key
d?
as in art?
yes
oliv have a look at angelsongs babble page at the bottom of the page. lots of help!
clue for last ye4 please
hooray fro frances and me!
*for
but i changed my icon
will refresh
thanks saffire
oh wow
so have you got it?
how many words are there in this grid?
165
165
165 words today
no, chj, not yet!
clue please chj
ye4 ends with double cons ogg
thanks, chj, ragalla, & frances
ok well i gotta go to bed, report back to me tomorrow
its a georgia okeefe painting....need i say more
Have to go now. Maybe back tonight. Bye........
probably - ;D
oops sorry meant oggy!
:-)
I'll work it out, chj - it did look familiar
thanks saffire
bye frances
chj - I'm not getting anywhere with the red canna
jilli - what are you looking for?
the clue indicated by chj's icon which he has admitted is a georgia o'keefe painting - and it's called 'red canna'
jilli - I can only think of a nasty word that is in the grid. Do you know what letter it starts with?
hehe - I thought of that word too, I think! But no, chj is being very challenging and gave no other hint
and maybe that's it, but I can't imagine!
let me think about it..........
please do! I've been googling like mad. Curse Curtis!!!! (not really)
Hi jillibus and Dianne. What does the nasty word begin with?
t
jilli - I can't see anything else in the words. Sorry.
Cant't figure it out just yet. No problem. Just thought if I had that, I could maybe help with chj's clue
neither can i
he may give more of a clue in the morning - the Connecticut morning, that is. It doesn't really matter
bbl, bye.
jilli = how cryptic are his clues?
sometimes they're clear as a bell, but he was being a te5/10 this time. He had changed his icon previously to a shot of NY's Chrysler building and we were to guess the clue. Got it eventually and he changed again to this one. If you go to the log for about 2:00 am you might see what was going on - but it's not important - it was just a little word and not difficult - I already had it.
and it's way past my bedtime so I'd better go - have fun!
I have the nasty t word you're after, it's tw4/8.
and there are more than one of them.
ce6/7 clue please
not started the c's oggy
ce7 - ce plus what a trainer does to a wild animal but change the double hump letter to the single hump one.
got that dianne..Ty
thanks dianne got them
im done, now i have to go to work, see you all later.
nice ce clue Dianne!
good clue dianne!!

Mr. P, Knutmeg and I have a new idea for a spot on your backpage- it's called "alternative meanings for Babblewords"- for example "airts" are um...gasses that don't smell.....LOL
2 8s amanda
Actually, anything bigger than a 6?
5 7s amanda
2 8's
de-7 has died
de-7 to die de 8 plural
LOL! will have to look into that one!!
da-8 has died.. adj.
er, not adj
we giggled madly over the word "fucum"....
I can see why!!!
I mean, once you know the alyternative meaning, you tend to NEVER forget the word again!
se-8 eyes+aw-4-9
lovely - thanks sha, got the 8's now

Hi Wolvie, Hi Jean. Sorry you're not feeling well Jera
cool. my sister's bd is on the 16th. I'd like a break from the humidity myself...
hi abe! hi Jean!
I was chilly so I turned off the AC last night... now sticky clammy oooky this morning!!
I never fiddle with the dial - I leave it set on 73 F. ;-)
Mine doesn't have a thermostat... that would be too easy
i've been sick all week too. air conditioning is the culprit
yeah, I hear you abe - plugs up the breathing for me, but - it's better than being too hot to sleep. I live for days I can open the windows, etc.
I need 3 more d's or 2 more y's... then I have lay my weary head down
Ooh, or 2 more N's...
my job does not allow us to open the windows, so i spend my days (babbling) with the a/c blowing on me :(.
ye 4 6 ye 5 14 ye 4 6 ye 4 6 what am I missing??
AC dries you out, but I can't take the humidity... can't breathe

do you have the mesh ne4?
Pluralize your first ye4/6, Scrabbler
TY, jg--never heard of it
Yes, Wolvie
Hi Jacula! I'm in luck, I have that for lunch!
I have tidy/pl, bird bed, mesh, lizardy thing/pl, & crazy
do you have tidy and the plural?
neither have I and I couldnt be bothered checking the dictionary...feeling lazy and tired
abe - Best thing for clearing congestion.
do you have the mesh with a double cross instead of the plural
for lack of a better clue
add a consonant to your basketball n4 (but make it singular)
(Perhaps they should pour chicken soup on the M25!)
That's the one I needed, Wolvie, many thanks!
yw
Thank you too abe!
having mental blanks with "a" words any clues will be appreciated
Jacula- I wish i had some homemade soup at times like these!

my icon, I still want my nephew's band to be successful, so I keep it
abe, LOL, yes!
Bood morning everyone
laurel, spoken like a loving and dedicated au**
and klaurel, if it's your nephew's band, then you are a great au 4/5. you and annie are very much with today's theme
hi bgmadden
well, you never know....
hi bgm
It's Friday and drinks are on the house...
Just over at Klaurel' though

OOOH! Crud! I missed D's 1st Day of School party! Dang!
brb
Actually I am having a back to school open house as my youngest will be in school full time this year. A tradition that started in IL as is moving to VA
that sounds like fun bgm
I'm not sure how many bottles of champagne to get though.
abe, sounds like a great idea
The last party the women went through 8 bottles of wine and a case of beer.
i meant bgm....the open house
bgm, now THAT sounds like fun
I have no good ideas right now annie, it's before 10 am. lol
hi all.. have to run, but wanted to check and see my icon..have a great day babbling.. i will be here tonight
abe, I meant that for bgmadden, i'm not up yet
Annie After the kids get on the bus we keep the doors open with food and drinks until they get home.
bgm, can I come?
Open doors
We're in the middle of nowhere in VA
morning all :)
when my son and daughter went to school there was nothing like that at all. my son was in special ed and we really had no one to turn to but there was a resource teacher (bless her).
I'm sorry to hear about the special ed Annie. It is tough when they have special needs.
Yes, it was, I must say. But that was many many years ago and my son is the kindest sweetest person. He has Downs Syndrome and he is still at home with me. My daughter has a law degree and is married with 2 wonderful children.
hi all - good grid or should I run?
Hi snowy
hi snowy, good grid, stay
hi raelite
annie - I take care of my uncle who is profoundly autistic :)
*not Downs, it is Down Syndrome
it's hard to find activities for him
well, bless your heart, raelite
Hi Raelite and Snowy
How old is he raelite
he can be very reclusive at times, maybe your son and y uncle could be friends?
he is 51
I am 26...I had to start takin care of him after my mom had a massive heart attack
Does he enjoy swimming?
he loves swimming, but is scared to go because the kids laugh at him (he looks a little different)
my son is 40. rae, are there any organizations that can help you with the care of your uncle? I am sorry about your Mom.
actually, I got him inot an old folks home at the beginning of july and he really likes it
have you ever checked into special olympics?
it's funded by the ministry; he was in the special olympics but because he's autistic and not down's they don't know how to care for him
I heard in Fl there is a swim with the dolphin program that works with people who have autism...
he would love that
rae, it is wonderful that he likes where he is living---that takes the major load off of you
i work with 2 down syndrom boys and they are very active in swimming and soccer
he lived with us for 5 years, it was really a difficult time, we went through 6 members of the family dying
also bowling, they have gutter blockers for encoragen=ment
encoragment
Pete felt very left out and alone, he was abused his whole life
he did bowl, but they closed all the alleys here for some stupid reason
allstar, my son is a great swimmer and he made it as far as Madison Square Garden in the special olympics. He won a medal in the 50 yard dash.
My girlfriends daughter attended it and loved that. She also has a thing for roller coasters...
you no what word i mean!
holy cow, that is fantastic!
awesome
Wow Annie that is great
they have something for everyone eventhe severly autisitc
and everyone gets a medal
yeah they do, S.O. is a great organization
oh FIREWORKS btw
Yes, we are proud of Bobby but I always wish his life could have been different....ah well
wtg
congrats, allstar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAAY allstar
nice allstar
and the paticipants are always so proud of themselves
that's the thing Pete didn't like though - he was never singled out
we tried to explain to him that he had to share his victory, but it always made him upset to have to share
yes, they do like to have a good supply of attention
he gets that now, the old ladies just love him
our two boys were big on when they hit 18 years old being called a "man" and using that works for behavoiral stuff too
Well everyone I need to go convince my boys to get their clothes on.
have a good day bgm
later, bgm
i should go get some work ready for those boys for school tuesday, bye all
bye, all
I am back, all may rejoice! :)

yes Matty. it's a nice grid too
not supposed to . . . *whistling softly*
Cool. I don't have time as I'm on holiday (buffs nails on shirt in gloating fashion).
enjoy your holiday matty!
A non-compliant patient, huh, Une?
yesterday I did a bunch of unacceptable things--but jeez, I'd been stuck inside for EIGHT DAYS!
Still having a go. Are the eights toughies or obvious?
rolled a computer chair into the driveway and waved my crutch at passersby@
Going stir-crazy, I know. I have had some operations and been off for weeks afterward--BORING!
lol une! Great idea! Good morning (at least for me) all!
they are real words matty. can give you a clue if you want

G'Morning!
Hey chj.

I am trying to use lickety's babble clues, but The page shows todays puzzle and the clues from yesterday. How can I fix this?
thanks
temporary bed plus french for water = co6/24, also hill in french.
jill- did you try to refresh the page?
yes...
woohoo Angelsong!
did you try brandy jack's list?
jill, just to make sure, you brought up the page where you get first two letters of every word
and I have the puzzle from today, I have windows open side by side. But the puzzle for today has along side it the clues for yesterday starting with an4,4 (adds) etc
Ooooooh, what a lovely Sa6/30!
hello
Jill, todays grid starts with an4/4
can i get a clue for the first co 4/6 please
no. I did not try brandyjack's list, I only started yesterday. I guess I will move on and see if I can figure it out later
jill-today has an an4/4 and an an4/8
I see Jilll online, in spite of her fervent vows to NEVER open this site again ...
Hi HarpJane!

Pallas, and now I know why you are too busy to respond to my IMs this mornign

I've been schooling, wench!
beebee I see what the problem is...it's todays clues but for some reason my answers from yesterday are in the boxes. I just need to clear the form
refresh jill
for instance where it says ce6,21 the word 'daws' from yesterday is filled in
soory abe- don't have it glad u got it fixed jill
abe someone who is taught one on one
thanks Sign
I *have* refreshed, it is not clearing the form. I don't care. I know what to do now
whoa ok just trying to help
I know, that sounded crabbier than I meant it to...my 3 year old wants to type in all the letters for me and it makes for a slow game :)
Jilll- This is something your browser does. It remembers previously entered values for forms. It is something you turn off, if you want, in your browsers prefs.
thx sign for that tu clue
I'm sorry Shorty
oc clues? please?
my picture harp
oh thats ok thank you
thanks Judy! I guess I'd better look more closely at the icons today!

Oh gosh, Annie and I (pardon me, Annie) are idiots!
screwed that up, gave a clue, duh
thanks. I miss that every time.... (sigh)
which is as Annie says, in English, having swallowed a meal
*sitting in the corner sucking my thumb*
where is Tom?
sorry, jack! even forgotten my nursery rhymes
Vicuna, at least I was in good company ---
Yes, you and I and little Jack Horner can all go sit in the corner... and have pie together!
... the queen was in her parlour, eating tea and honey...
sprite!
Hey Une! Nice grid to come back to! I love the Sa6/30 soooo much :)
sprite ,I haven't forgotten that much--the queen eats BREAD and honey
LOL! I knew something was amiss there...
And where was the king counting all his money again?
so with annie's cupcake, and Christmas pie, and bread and honey, we're all well-carbed today
In his counting house!
inthe counting house, of course, sprite
Hehehe, where else... I need to read up on English nursery rhymes, for sure!
at least I'm healthy!
Healthy and smart, raelite. Nice score, right? :)
You can start with my book, sprite, ha ha! (From which Jack Sprat and his wife in my icon are an illustration.)
the maid was in the garden pegging out the clothes, when something unmentionable happened to her
the maid was in the garden pegging out the clothes, when something unmentionable happened to her
totally.
se6/30?
Yeah... a pocket full of rye. Brought to me by Agatha Christie :)
Gosh, hetty, you make it sound like the blackbird did something much worse than merely nipping off her nose!
se**** Marjory Daw
Love your artwork, sprite. Couod you draw what happened to the maid? Gave me nightmnares as a child
Good clue for the spirit of the chat, Une!!!
:-D
harp- that toy at the play ground if a fat kid was on the other side you'd get thrown in the air or break your butt
My artwork? Don't you have me confused with Atalante?
As a child I hadn't begun to conceive of worse violations, Vicuna
oh, THAT toy! ty
Sorry, sprite, I have you confused with the talented Vicuna
Well, that's good, hetty. We always ended with a playful tweak to the nose, so that I never really pictured her nose actually bitten OFF!
harp- the 8 is past tense
Last 2 SU's please
Oooooohhhhhh! That beautiful Se6/30 has a past t5? This is a great grid!
I suppose I'm thinking of other remembered verses too, like the twa corbies.
And actually, I was going to include that one in my book, but it had such disparate scenes that I hadn't figured out how to stuff the whole thing into just one picture woithout getting too fiddly.
Johnny shall have a new master
mercy- take the last su5/12- drop the last letter- and change to a double vowel/ and plural
Some of them are just dreadful... but at the same time, attempts to bowdlerize them are always dreadful, too.
Dreadful has power for kids! Look at all the gruesome stuff in fairytales!
When younthink about them, nursery rhymes are full of murder and mayhem and gross indecency, are they not?
eebee many thanks!
We see to be thinking along the same lines.
I know, and I have to say, as a former kid addicted to fairy tales, I think kids usually have no trouble taking them the right way.
the last se5,10, please
I agree, Vicuna :)
Fireworks
Yeah abe!
congrats, abe!!!
bubba- you have 5 of them- sight, smell, etc
Yay for abe!
wtg-abe
It's because the kid's imagination is readily switched on and off. Only older readers are infected by empathy, which is a learned response.
thanks to all for clues! anyone need any clues?
Se--- and Se**ibility
I have a Se5/10 that doesn't make much se5/10.
Beebee, ty, just didn't see it, so to speak
bubba- lol
Last 2 CE's if you please
* I should have said affected rather than infected Empathy is much to be desired and sought after.
LOL hetty!
ce + what you get if you sit in the sun + vowel
If only empathy were capable of infection - imagine the germ warfare we could have then!
Here endeth my homily for today--off to visit my old ladies (says she at 77)
hetty, my mother always said she thought she'd been TOO successful re instilling empathy and I think I may have done the same with MY daughter!
bye, hetty!
Bye, hetty!
Bye hetty :)
Thank you abe....Fireworks
bye hetty
Yay for Mercy!
Yay Mercy!. Bye Hetty
yea mercy
now the day begins LOL
Good job, Mercy
Uneaixoise - it's a "gal" thing to be toooooo empathetic i think
I guess it is. But when the choice is between too empathetic or not at all, I'd rather be oversensitive to other's needs, really.
sprite - it can be exhausting, though
sprite - it can be exhausting, though
help with the tu wors please
Blast it. Dr_G, if you're still lurking, I've got a doubled ea4 that won't go away with refreshing and is confusing my statistics. Help, please!
magzel- one who is educated one on one. the other is king t** plural
I know, tracy, I know... but the opposite is worse, I think.
abe79 - never would have thought of the on-on-one clue - GOOD ONE!
thanks tracy. that clue was given by Sign before (must give credit where it is due!)
sprite - i would definitely agree, unless it's a day when i'm drained form it LOL
any help with the last sa5,12
Yeah tracy... that are the moments I feel very close to Garfield, who has this lovely saying: "Go tell your plants, please, not me!"
sa5/12 - to fry, but the gourmet way
*those are
gracie
sprite - wouldn't want the plants to wither!
LOL tracy!
thanks abe 79
yw magzel
It's still morning and I have pyrotechnics, thanks for the help

It is lovely, the grid I mean. Stidmama! *hug* No, just came back from our holiday in Germany. Ordered chinese, so am waiting for dinner to arrive. Kids are free from school for another week.

Hi Lady and Stid
*plans on joining stidmama on that couch*
ah, ok, I said "pardon me, good afternoon Sprite"
ARe you living in France now?
No, I live in Holland, lady. It is evening here.
I have only just started, 6 words so far... not even up to looking at clues yet!
Okay, "woed" should be a word ... as in, "When Joey Lawrence saw the girl in the hot bikini, he wo'ed."
Stidmama, is that your beautiful dog???
lol
Absolutely, frazer.
Holland sounds nice too Sprite
lol frazer!
Holland isn't too bad :)
yes Annie, that's our Lucky!
I've never been, I lived in France and Italy for a short time, and I've been to Spain but thats it
Oh dear, what a sweetie, stidmama!
Countries with good weather, lady! Holland is much more rainy.
How old is Lucky, Stid?
in that picture, he was daring his red rubber ball to move... and then Grant threw it over the house... no idea where it landed!
what would be the best country to ex-pat to? (ex-pat is a verb, yes? ;))
He'll be three in December.
Like Britain?
he's gorgeous.
Yeah, more or less like Britain indeed.
I am heading out to get some shopping done before it's too hot. Enjoy your evenings/mornings/afternoons, all!
I"d probably like it - I don't tolerate sun well
st.franny, I am not sure enable would agree, but enable is nu4, as we all know. I think it is a word :)

What did you do to your leg, Stid, that needed crutches?

Phantom word: ewes
Now let's talk about that lovely green chestnut on my tree! My first crop! I hope it makes it to harvest...
Stidmama, please feel better.

Take it easy and heal up, stid ..
You aren't planning on climbing that tree -- are you stid?<G>

tor: that parrot is just sleeping. seriously. he's really tired...from parroting all day :)
Shagged out from a prolonged squawk?
as usual, the upload squishes it a bit, but this is my lovely chestnut! :-)
I will be happy to share it with you-all later...
He's de7/36'd, He's bleedin demised ..
lol yeah, all that millseed, it goes to their heads and they wind up on their backs
he's NOT demised, he's PINING!
just shout at him, he'll wake up!
Gorgeous chestnut stid. --- Sad looking parrot.
POLLY! POLLY PARROTT!!!!!
whats de7/36?
die
well? did he wake up?
another word for demise, lady!
I've got a lovely cuttlefish for you!
I think dewet should be a word - that is what happens when you dry something
oh duh
I know! let's put a h5/22 on him!
LOL raelite
I think *weasee* should be word
Movin'
Movin' on up like George and Weasee!
raise da roof!
exactly
I think "untow" should be a word, as when the hitch breaks, and the trailer goes bouncing off the side of the mountain... (strange how memories of my teenage years come flooding back) and your dad says Q*$#)(Q#%#@*%$@(%^&
lol
HHAAaAA LOL Stid. Some how i can just picture that
I like that one Stid
I still vote for "woed" ... the past act of making a Joey Lawrence-like sound.
and isn't snew the past tense of snow?
it snew last night (I wish)
No, it's ...
nono, that would be snewed...
Snew? What's snew?
snew is the contraction of it's new.
I dunno, what's snew with you?
no snew -- grow/grew snow/snew
LOL frazer!
the opp of old, Fraz lol
what'
what's everybody been drinking? I want some!! lol
hello dear Judy!
Nothing yet judy
Hiya Stid! Feeling any better today (physically)? You're definitely in good spirits!!!
oh Judy, read back in the log -- I WAS feeling better... *sigh* now it's delirium
hello wacky babblers!
hi Fizzeroo!
Hi fiz
stid is your icon a clue?
Hiya Fiz!
Haven't looked for socks yet. I forgot until I just saw your name. Sorry
Fiz -- in reference to the line in your profile... my Tom is a baker! does all our bready things :-)
Stid, you have to stop doing acrobatic moves in the house!!
no sweat musicmom - i hurt my wrist so i'm not being crafty right now. thanks for keeping it in mind, though.
no, I was just showing of my first chestnut crop-to-be!
THERE are WAY too many injuries around here gang!!!
I know, that last triple twisting, double double back flip really did me in!
I am not okay with this:-)
I agree Music Mom. Babbling is getting dangerous!
I have the de8 what is the other one?
ohhh, that's the new baby stid? congratulations! it's beautiful. and there's nothing like fresh bread - you're a lucky woman.
Sure hope somebody caught that on videotape Stid! LOL
I go away for a few weeks and everyone starts injuring everything. Did you miss me that much?
I AM lucky! (just a bit clutzy)
"Babble's funniest home videos"
musicmom, it's true -- the world DOES stop for you!
Any bets whether StidMama or a neighborhood squirrel gets the crop?
REE-mon! be nice! I won't share with you...
LOL Stid. I knew it! <tongue firmly in cheek>
MM i had to keep busy to keep from crying - i've got an overuse injury.
That must where my kids must get that idea - that the world stops for them.
Okay, I'm stuck on the ce's already
Poor fiz. just don't send me the bill
*pictures stid and family gathered around single chestnut with tiny carving set*
I got the email -- yes, I know it'll take the kiddo a couple months (or more) to plow through the assignments, but he is SO happy! -- a very public "THANK YOU", professor!
LOL fiz
YW. And I'll split the proceeds from the bets with you.
rieman is helping our stidmatt with two of his obsessions: math and fuel economy in vehicles...
LOL -- silly boy!
Any clues for the ce's after the ce4/5/
boy stid - if he makes any money saving discoveries have them share with me.
at once, stid and riemann, or separate projects?
I don't have any ce words
there's a CE 4/5? where? *dives into grid, searching frantically*
oh -- combined, Fiz! best way to get a kid to learn math is to combine it with real-life examples!
I have the stop one.
its the phonetic pronunciation of mutiple C's
thanks, lady!
no prob
It's just the one project. And I'm giving a (much harder) project to my calculus students this fall.
everyone have a great weekend. i'm headed out to lunch with mom
i've got the stop, the plural, and the 4/5 lady - and haven't gone for the list yet so I don't know what i'm missing!
later ABe
bye abe
ce5/12- you have 5 sight, sound ,etc- change s to c- make it plural for the 6/21
bye abe
I would hope so! but it's just the right size for a middle-schooler, and will impress his friends and teacher no end if he finished it!
bye Abe!
later abe, enjoy your meal!
great beebee, thanks!
another ce sounds like common se*** / different spelling and plural
thanks bee bee
beebee beat me to it!! THe log is moving so fast I didn't even see it! lol
ce6/21- ce+what you hope to get in the sun+2 vowel for the 7/32 plural it
I wish someone had taught me calculus with some relationship to reality - i was told that the reason I had to learn it was so i could get into a good college!
thanks bee bee
thansk judy
y/w
thanks beebee and judy!
Fiz - my math teacher told me to just avoid calculus at all cost.
my math teacer told me to be a housewife
hello? is the chat log going to let me post now? *wonders*
I learned algebra in my physics class in high school... then sat bored in the back of the class. Skipped trig and took calculus (not that I remember anything now) and then avoided math except for statistics (loved it) and the bare minimum for economics (scraped by in those classes)
math to me is like a muscle - if i don't use it i lose it. hence, at this point basic multiplication is a struggle...
UGH raelite !
hi Atalante! I bet you use calculus a lot!
wow, look at all the co's
You've got to be joking, raelite! Unless he/she meant it because housewives end up using an awful lot of arithmetic.
business major; never had calculus!
lol raelite!
Hey Vic
did you-all see the math term that's a CO?
Hello, ladynoire!
I know...he sat me down and patted my hand, I almost failedhis class three times (in a row)
yep, got that., thx!
Music majors just had to get through Algebra. I took it. Later I went back and took advanced math for elementary ed teachers. I did much better in that one because it was taught in relationship to why and how you would want ot use it.
morning all... how many total today?
statistics! am stats wizard, apparently. (not really). husband is the real mathematician of the two of us!
he was an a4/4 I did not like him
never had stats but thought I would enjoy it.
Yes, although, I like to think of it as two people sun-bathing together!
165 walnut
morning walnut - 165
165 walnut
ooh, poor raelite! that's okay -- REAL math is applied, not on paper. (go ahead, riemann, correct me...)
thanks beebee
(The math term, that is, not statistics! Ha!)
I use geometry and algebra all the time in quilting
I LOVE stats, but don't use more than the basic concepts now. Never took it past my one class in college.
Also more advanced functions of division and multiplication in budgeting and meal planning.
I've played clarinet semi-pro for 15 years...just because I can't figure out infinite equations I have a learning disability? what-ev! He was a sexist pig.
Someone just needed to show me when and where i would use it in high school and I would have done better.
i agree mm
Really raelite? Classical, jazz or some other genre of clarinet
I use proportions and such all the time in art, cooking and gardening... but I am a real master of the "looks like about enough" method of culinary arts!
I do that too stid. I use the math more at the grocery in bargain shopping
I amaze Sarah by doing that kind of thing in my head
I play all kinds of music and write/improv my own stuff too
A lot of my PhD was stats based. making up stats half the time LOL! but my husband works in quantitative finance - VERY high end maths!
OOH! I love clarinet music! my grandad played clarinet in the band when he was in the Navy!
Some kinds of math show up constantly in real life, others not at all.
I would have never believed I coudl do that when I was in HS
Very cool Raelite. Do you have a recording?
Unfortunatly, the ones I liked best don't seem to show up as much as plain old multiplication tables, which I've never liked!
hello everyone. I am back for my final eight. Any help for the third set of tw's, tw 4/8 and tw 5/18??
I figured out later that they just make you do that so you can learn to handle weird problems
riemann does really theoretical stuff. He's been trying to explain it to me for fifteen years... *sigh* I am smart, just not in that way.
no, I don't have any recordings...I'm too shy for that! I used to play in a band, but there are other probs that interfered
LOL raelite.
I always thought my hs teacher was just doing those things to show off
inge- betw***
de 5/20 andde6/33 any clues please
In university I took a class on the history of math...I like to tell people it's my only A in math
drop the n for the 4
good morning, inge! I got curious the other day about bromeliads, and on a hunch typed in the plant and your last name -- please tell your hubby that his website is really wonderful and now I am just going to HAVE to add to my plant collection!
Hi inge!
de5/20 - some sort of Indian dignitary? anyway, de + pale
Hello, Inge, by the way.
hi inge!
isn't that another spelling for a sofa, Vi?
for some reason I keep seeing walnut in the puzzle... :S
Chat is flying by did I miss the starting letters for the other 8? I have de 8
ty vicuna-not sure re dignitary but got the other
I do like practical maths, but I don't like theoretical maths. I keep trying to get husband to explain to me why 1 + 1 = 2 in pure maths is aplicable in the real world where such certainty doesnt exist
Not that i know of. That would be divan, as far as I know. But there are no shortage of alternate enable spellings I've never heard of!
music- se8/65
mm - se8/65
yippee! I am past halfway! I am running down to the fruit stand and picking up any fresh corn and apples they may have... need anything while I'm there?
or diwan
No one makes money from 1 + 1 = 2. But Enron made a lot with 1 - 1 = 43.
inge- did you get your tw's?
thanks torg and bee - off to look for it
yes, he is very good in writing articles about bromelieads as well. He has been writing the SEMBS newsletter for several years. I think all his pictures and articles ought to make a good book.
no tw's arrived yet
bye stid. Please don't run - walk carefully. I woul dlove some peaches if htey have any
ooh, just got the se8. how fun!
1 + 1 = 2 is an interesting concept though!
Yellow sweet corn would be nice . .
inge - add a w to the word for 13-19year olds
and the plural
inge- betw***- drop the n for the 4
stid any berries left this time of year for you?
and drop the n for a 4
Fresh corn on the cob is one of my favorite foods in the whole entire world.
mmmmm fresh corn please!
YES, inge, I agree. between the gorgeous watercolors and the easily understood text, a book by him would be excellent.
Fiz, I can send Grant out to pick some blackberries... there should be more raspberries by now, too.
same here Vicuna. probably my absolute favouriite
I have that tw set, must be the one preceding that I am missing
do you have the yucky word for female parts and the plural?
inge- another word for the ugly cu@@ word we had
But I'm too stingy to get it except the one or two weeks a year when the prices are the lowest.
mmmm. that would be great stid. our raspberries dried up early with the heat wave - and haven't regenerated.
All we seem to get out here is white corn .. Really miss Ohio yellow ..
I have the Scottish variation of tw words, and the begining of Christmas poem, what am I mssing?
your missing the yucky words inge
ooooh poor you, its grown right here so we get it pouring through the shops, at least about now!
tw+preposition
LOL -- okay, corn if they have it, yellow for tor; berries for Fiz and I'll see what else looks good. later all!
hmmmmm torg - love Ohio yellow. My MIL grows it
bye stid
Have a nice time, stidmama!
see you later stid!
I like those little baby corn things...so cute!
got the 8
can I google under Yucky? some english words escaped me when we moved from Germany to the USA in 1950
*hops on se6/30 with MM*
<--
Just don't jump off while I'm at the toop
inge- tw+kitty c** then plural
thanks roc!
like twit ... but different ...
Did anyone get the co6 after the bed one
The "toop"- hee hee!
what you do to a bothersome fly
LOL vic - I didn't even catch that
co6: a colour, like brown red with various spellings
I get scared at the top of the se6
we'll go gently mm don't worry.
Horrible memories of life on the playground as a fat child:)
ohh, mm. big hugs. i don't make fun of fat kids.
horrible childhood memories of being the tallest in my class, no one would se6 with me! :(
what is this se6??!!!!
It was great fun for them to jump off the at the bottom and then watch me bounce.
We didn't have se6's in my youth - nor swings! They were deemed too dangerous!
Raelite - that is harsh too
se6: the present and past tense of sight
another of the co6 words sounds like the french ocean explorer jacque co---, minus the 3rd & 4th letters
They can be painful vic
horrible memories of the playground as a thin popular child- the playground just sucked regardless
You are absolutely right beebee.
<-- se6
i had an experience closer to raelite - was saved from utter humiliation by the giant in my class who hit 6 feet in 4th grade. did i mention i went to girl's school?
oh! ty raelite!
I liked the swings. np :)
Yes, but as soon as I left elementary school, they removed all the equipment we had had because IT was too dangerous -- and they put back the swings!
Thanks for that co - Roc. That was the one I was missing
I was always the tallest too ...
i liked kickball and the monkey bars
and the slide when it wasn't too hot out...otherwise you got that awful hotbut!
I like swings too. I liked anything I could play independently
but the worst was that round thing - what was it called- people would push so fast you just couldn't hold on and go flying off
the merry go round?
Death loop is more like it
do you have witches hats' in US playgrounds??
The scary-go-round?
lol @ death loop
*blushes* i loved the merry go round - that feelingthat you might fly off and die was awesome
mm- lol
well, I monkey typed taht yucky tw word, never heard it before.
the barf wheel
NO way!! Fiz
Only on the teachers, ata ..
I don't know what a witche's hat is
witches hat?
of course now they don't have metal toys or concrete floors for liability reasons. used to be much more fun.
ooooo *finds pic* they've been banned now
I have come to realize that I am allergic to the rush of adrenaline.
Nope no metal toys but plastic slides still get as hot.
I'm not a big fan of being frightened, either, musicmom! (Although other sorts of excitement are nice!)
I always used to wonder if anything was buried under the sand
as I grew older, I realized I didn't want to know
no more horrible splinters, barked knees - it's good to know you can still burn your behind, though MM
Yey - excitement like unexpected cash in the mail, a surprise birthday party, an unexpected date with my husband.
LOL raelite
lOL Fiz
lol raelite! how true.
it's funny- they say your childhood years are your best - were these people children- your childhood years are what warps you for life ;)
we used to have a bicycle gang - we would ride around the neighbourhood and help people with their trash cans
rae- help as in push over?
How true beebee. I have always wondered about the people i know who would love to go back to High School. Are they n****????
I had an utterly idyllic childhood -- but I still like being a grown-up better!
hee hee no of course not
*refrresh* crappy pic, but its the only one I could find. thats a small one, usually about 3-4m across - they go round and round and tilt side to side all a bit randomly
I looked it up: Back in the seventies, no British playground was complete without the fantastically dangerous Witch's Hat — a large cone with a narrow brim to stand on, which pivoted and span on a central pole. The big kids invariably hanging round it smoking would spin it so fast that falling off was something you did only once. Also, it was designed to have the precise ground clearance needed to trap the leg of a careless child. To add to the thrill, the rough, hi-graze concrete it was on would be littered with dog $%#! and broken glass. Never did me any harm though. Apart from three weeks in hospital and a lifelong phobia of cones that is, but I see that as character building.
OMG!! that thing looks so angerous!
roc- lol
what a terrifying creation! would have loved it in my tw5 years.
*fireworks*
yay riemann!
wtg
UGH --- that looks horrible
Bravo Riemann
they were FAB!
Congrats, riemann!
yea rie
my burgeoning maternal instinct shudders at the thought of that monstrosity! eep!
everyone fell off and broke their arms. childhood ritual LOL
LOL raelite - I think we have the same idea. I let my husband take the girls to the park. I'm way too freaked out watching them play.
are there any cw words?
I think that will be best. I dont need that kind of stress
no cw words
no cw words
mm- no
then they banned them and everyone sulked. all the fun gone
my mom says she'll leave me money in her will to learn to hang glide - she wants to be de8 first
good then I will quit looking
LOL!
LOL fiz
apparently skydiving is really fun
My husband wants to go sky diving. I told him he couldn't tell me where he was going. He says he'll tell me he is going on a picnic.
a bunch of my coworkers went on a dare and they loved it (I couldn't go - medical probs)
With any luck she'll live long enough that by the time you get the money, you won't want to do it any more!
yes well maybe someday i will find out but *knock wood* not for a while.
it was only about $180 for tandem and they had so much fun, in fact, they went again
Only way I'm every jumping out of a plane would be if it were crashing. Even then I would consider going down with the plane as opposed to jumping.
"my, honey, are you sure you won't get hot at your picnic in that nylon suit? and di you really need to strap the food to your back quite so elaborately?"
LOL fiz
lol
you might see through it, mm
it would be more believable if he told me he was going to a rehearsal. He doesn't like picncis
picnics
the first time you go it has to be tandem...so there's no chute for you
mm- just check your ins. policy first- make sure it still pays
you're strapped to another guy all the way down...
Hi all, anyone here from earlier today, when I said I lost my car keys?
Need help with dy6/27 please
oh no peri - did you find them?
yes peri, werhe did they show up?
dy 6: crazy show about oil people in the 80s
pery dy6 is like a chinese ruling period without the sometimes vowel
peri- jackie colloins was on that show dy*****- drop the last letter
dy6/27 - like old evening soap dy----y
Yes, Fiz, I apparently left them in my car trunk lock and some kind person turned them into the rental office. I tore up my apt and inside of my car looking for them.
*feeling intellectually snooty*
thanks for asking inge.
a clue for a he5/22 please? not the one that's past tense for ax
beebee - I don't think the insurance does pay.
Glad you found them peri
well peri at least you got them back.

And rightly so, Fiz! :)

well you know, it's usually me right down there in the gutter, I like to appreciate the moments when i don't resort to bodily functions or pop culture references.
woohoo Inge!
wtg inge
BRAVO inge
I now have my car keys on a long red strap that is easy to see. HOpe this helps. Jacula was kind enough to locate some places on line that sold keychains that respond to sound. Which would be good if I lost the keys inside my apt.
yay inge!
Of course, Fiz, if you really wanted snooty points, you could have said "hereditary potentate".
..De4/11 and Lewy
WTG inge!
lol vicuna!
LOL torg
thanks for the dy6 clues, I remember that show
Have to go for a bit. I'm going to try to come back for my last 54 before we go to the football game tonight. Have fun everyone

I think you'd better stick to making bread rise! ;)
I don't bake
no bubba, your original clue worked just fine
i'm missing an ne4/4...i have what you catch fish with, and the funny spelling of that same word, and the salamander...what am i missing?
diflucan! nows that a clue english people would understand!
this is the best chat line I've seen in a long time!!!!

ne4/4 - where birds lay eggs
I am going to keep typing ceta until it is accepted!
what is diflucan?
Well, keep us posted on your progress, Peri!
same as ye4,6, just change the first letter
GOOD GRIEF! Thanks so much....you spend so much time looking for a strange word, because you know it can't possibly be something simple at this point!!
otherwise known as the stufff in canesten over here
diflucan is fluconazole...anti fungal med
Vicuna, did you see my post re : car keys found!
canesten is clotrimazole
what language is the, raelite?
this talk is giving me a rise, so to speak

What you burn in*****
ce5/12 - if it started with in- it would be smelly stuff to burn at an altar
Vicuna, I left them in the trunck lock and some nice person turned them into the rental office, what a relief.
it's english! but medical language
thanks, Vicuna, for ce5 clue
I'm a pharmacy technician though, not a real pharmy
I am very good at procrastinating, lots of stuff I need to be doing but much rather play Babble.
It's awfully good to hear about ordinary people being ordinarily kind, peri. If you watch the news too much you start to expect people to take advantage of each other.
Well, I would rather deal with you than some of the "real" pharmacists around here!!!!!
fireworks!
evey time the words are medical, anatomical, etc. i can't get them and am reminded how ignorant i am - discouragine
wtg judy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hooray for CiociaJudy!

PIng, not ignorant just not in your normal vocabulary.
Hi CJ, congrats to you!
Congrats Ciocia
ty all. Hi Peri. How are you doing with the grid?
lol @tor
Ping, no one is expected to know everything about all fields. I'm sure there is tons of stuff you know in your areas of interest that other people are amazed by.
Every field has its own vocab, just as long as you know your area
its just a specialised bit of the language!
OOOPPPSSS! I thought it didn't work! Dumba$$
41 to go, CJ, not too bad today, may even finish
any help with the co's please? I only gace 4 and can't see any more..

Peri, like the 5 above it but with the sometimes vowel.

The Office is brilliant - loved the original and was mad that NBC ran with it - but now it's found its voice and sings!
he's practically fingerprinting the stairs to pinpoint who might have taken it
just stare at him, with a knowing smirk on your face . . .
he's got the little notepad and everything...I am laughing so hard in my office right now
any su but the 5/12..pls
he's even got the same far off but diligent look in his eye
LOVE the Office!!
su6/21 = way of catching melanoma. and pl.
take the su 5,12 take off the last vowel, then add two vowels to the end, then pl
su6/21 = old indian practice of a widow throwing herself on her husband's funeral pyre. and pl.
at my other job I had a boss like michael
I would just stare at him...he was always saying the most inappropriate things
Why do the old Indian traditions die? Nostalgic for the old days
mmmm. mac&cheese :)
a classic of his was "I love being sexually harassed, it's great, do it more!"
OK. what's the su 5/12?
yikes rae!
bubba, may I take it that you'll never be the widow thrown on the pyre? Or the bride burned because her inlaws found another possible bride with a bigger dowry??
it was wild. wild.
Dowry=good, nostalgia is overtaking me
I'm lighting your funeral pyre as we speak, bubba

that's a very accepting attitude, bubba. I may back off on the bellows....
lol bubba! thanks for the reassurance...
I've never been called salmophobic
And I'll fight any person who says I am
Grizzley ahead - watch out everyone!
fishophobic? piscinophobic? piscophobi c?
Then again, I have heard things about flounder, but who am I to judge
do we draw lots to see who we'll sacrifice to the grizzlies so the rest can spawn - survival of the species rather than the individual?
piscophobic is when you can't tolerate so-so comedy, i though.
we're quite an egalitarian lot, charm - i think that'll work
Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" comes to mind....
I have a feeling that a vote would not be in my best interst, perhaps we could draw straws

I don't do pie crusts well, but biscuit topping for cobbler I can manage. I'll make extra for our babblers. I usually add blackberries. that okay with folks?
sounds heavenly *heading to frig for something good to eat*
at6.30 clue plese

Is everybody have a sleep?
Or just puzzling furiously over the grid??
must be puzzling. Awful quiet!
I've never seen it so quiet!
Maybe everybody's out for dinner on a Friday night.
Yeah, I guess it is a night to be out on the town
That's a beautiful picture you have up Judy...where is it from?
It's a California coast picture I got from the internet. Not sure of the exact location. Would love to look at that every night!
Yes, that would be a lovely view from the deck!
Where are you babblinanm?
Presently I am in Hanna, AB...but I live on Vancouver Island in the city of Victoria
Sounds lovely!
Yes, Victoria is such a pretty city. Have you travelled much on the West Coast?
I've been in California as far north as the Napa Valley. Never made it to Oregon or Washington or Western Canada, although I wish I could see it some day.
I would love to visit Napa. The pictures I see of it look so peaceful.
Loved the area. Toured the wineries.
Or maybe that's all the wine I've been drinking when I'm looking at the pictures!
WSe just got back from a visit to California. We made it as far south as the Napa Valley; we were mostly in the mountains and along the Pacific coast
Yes, would love to just spend some time touring that state...so much to it.
There's a lot to see in California. I mainly did the coastal areas. Really didn't get inland.
No kidding. We didn't see a third of the things we would have liked
What are your favourite places to visit in the U.S.?
Hi all, back to find my last 10 words
i live in CA!
go Peri go
I think--the Pacific Northwest in general, and California if I want to do touristy things
Honestly, bab, I love Arizona!
Where are you Dogluver?
I am stuck in the SA words at the moment
May we help, Peri?
santa cruz... and i would definitely suggest a drive up highway 1
im about an hour away from san fran
Absolutely, Dogluver! I drove all the way down Route 1 from San Fran I think.
I have the first and 2nd sa words and the last sa word, need all the one in between, pretty please. I will keep looking of course
my husband and i drove up highway 1 on our honeymoon - gorgeous!
yes, would love to see some of arizona
the third sa / drop the last vowel in the one above it
sa 6 is a fabric - sa + kids between 13 & 17 / make it plural for the sa7
it occasionally freaks me out to drive 30 feet away from a cliff edge into the ocean, but it is beautiful
thanks CJ
very true dogluver. I know I drove 17 mile drive!
sa6/18 and sa7/28 please
see my post at 6:50 peri

i agree ted - stunning. so was Carmel and Solvang (sp?)
like the betw*** one drop the last consonant
oooo Solvang - struedel - hmmmm
may I gloat?
go Stid
Hi Stid...gloat away!
Solvang is the home of "Andersens' Split Pea Soup" !!!!
angela, I don't remember solvang, but when I took the family to san franscisco we took the 17 mile tour through monterrey and carmel
Stid, i need more info about your gloat.
Is there more to that Stid?
ew! no split pea for me. i was in 8th grade at the time so i wasn't too into the culinart delights of the local culture :) maybe a second chance someday!
A few years back, a friend asked me to help redo his website. So I did. And though I don't really promote myself for html work, each year he gives me a little more work. I just finished updating his site... I don't want to be commercial, but I just think the honey his bees produce is the most lovely in the world!
the 17 mile drive was gorgeous though Ted, you're right
and we were lucky that we had a clear day all the way. They said that was a rarity
ahh, so we should search for anderson split pea soup and see your handywork!
nice! what a great bonus for you and the family!
so stid - what's the site? sounds cool...
Does that split pea soup come with peach cobber? lol *still licking lips waiting for cobbler*
No no, I don't do the split pea website.... just love the soup!
stid, sounds more interesting than my site, I update the school's website
fourbsfarm.com
going right now Stid - brb
I still need to make the cobbler, when Tom came home I got all distracted.
school websites are hard, I think because there are so many "updations" as one of my kids used to call them.
and you're so restricted
the holly looks pretty
Yes, and you have to use whatever WYSIWYG software they tell you to. I hard code most things... it's just easier for me.
i'm back
cool site Stid. i googled anderson split pea what a silly site! hap pea and pea wee! lol
Yes, the holly they grow is so lovely and glossy! One year he had extra (this was before I was working for him) and we put it all around the house...
thanks very much people
and the wreaths...gorgeous
Poor pea wee! *giggle*
co6/24 anyclues please
Hi feather!
hello Wyrd, long time no see -- you been lurking or just gone?
co 6/24 sounds like that undersea explorer Jacques only without the S in the middle
Hi Feather! Holly wreaths sound awesome, Stid.
and without the U either...
the district has a company that we use for websites. That way they supply the templates and everything is uniform. I just use simple html to give the page color
maj, like jacques co------ the underwater dude...except dont use the s.
"The holly and the ivy, now both are full well grown, of all the trees that are in the wood, the holly bears the crown."
ok, i have a big ole blank section where the SUs are supposed to be...oh, wait, i just got hte 5/12. may i have a hand with any of the others? cluer's choice!
Goodness, is it Christmas aleady??
very nice job stid - the honey looks tempting
Well, there is something to be said for uniformity, I suppose.
Having said that, (Hell everyone, btw), I'll be making the Christmas cakes in about 2 weeks...
SU 6-- what hindu wives used to do when their husbands died and then plural...
hi Jacula.
Only Christmas for retailers and wholesalers... and those who work for them!
And Hell to you Jac. ROFL
su 6 and 7...what you get if you go to the beach and don't wear su----screen
ty stidmama
Hi stid. I like the honey & holly site. It looks uncluttered and v. professional.
jacula, what kind of cakes do you make?
stid, i'm sadly lacking in knowledge of hindu wives...
*smack* thanks pappou
Oops, Judy! Meant 'already' and 'HellO'. LOL.
thanks Jacula! uncluttered is my pet peeve. I don't like lots of flashing, dancing things.
check out the pea soup site. it's a cute rundown on the history of the company. http://www.geocities.com/foodedge/peas oup.htm
yw
stidmama, a bit of both, had a garage sale
Pappou - just traditional fruit cakes that I 'feed' with brandy & sherry a bit up until 2 weeks before Christmas, when I marzipan & ice them.
and now i have to clean up!
oh Wyrd -- those are so exhausting! I hope you were successful...
su6 & 7 - su + double consonant + double vowel / and plural
always am, and i get rid of alot of things, which is always a plus
Stid - Well, you might remember how much I moaned to Jamie (Dr_G) about this site when it changed. I've got used to it now, though...
sounds good, jacula. I don't know why fruit cakes get some a bad break. They are delicious
That's great! We had one yard sale a few years back. But we are so far out of town that it was barely worth the effort -- and LOTS of the big stuff didn't sell (and is still cluttering the living room...)
bless you judy! i had the first 4 letters, was struggling for the last ones!
I make whiskey cakes for Christmas. Never got into fruit cakes.
PappouTed - I agree, re the fruitcakes.
stidmama, thats when you donate and get a tax rite off, but location certainly helps
yw Feather. I need all the blessings I can get! lol
okay, now it really is time to make that cobbler. I will be back later.
bring some back Stid!
hello babblers!
*still licking lips waiting for the cobbler*
did I ever tell you about the time my mother made chocolate rum balls for a fancy party she was having? Put them in the fridge and didn't tell me NOT to eat them.... *giggle -- hic!*
Hey Ping
My ex-hubby's Grandfather used to put so much whisky & rum in his Xmas cakes that you'd get drunk just sniffing them... and they were gooey! YUK!
hi ping
hi Ping! heading out, back as quick as I can.
Do you have all the SU's feather?
hi ping
oh -- and I was about 9...
Stid - LOL! You naughty girl!
Jac your icon is cute! i did a rescue this morning...neighbor's dog was out and running the yards... she's a great dog, but i swear she climbs the fence!
lol stid! very anne-ish!
Goodness, I haven't made a Peach Cobbler for years! I might do one this weekend.
yes judy, thanks!
hi ted, stid, wyrd, and judy!
lbd - Thanks! It's really a cryptic clue to ye4 word (Scottish for 'gate'). What sort of dog does your neighbour have?
she's a mix, husky and shepard, mostly husky with those ice blue eyes.
any news re: the lost dog that nut found and then lost?
lbd - Ah, sounds gorgeous! She probably leaps over the fence like a show jumper.
Nut lost thee dog she found? How? What happened??
*the dog
te5/20 please?
she's a rescue dog, and her yard mate is a rottie. poor bristle was running back and forth whining...and lady was out checking everyones yard!
te + to marry
actually her brother (unbeknownst to her) called the pound and had the dog taken away
feather - te5/20 sounds like you masticated your food.
ty
I get upset every time I think about it Ping
Ping - NEVER? What a thing to do!
judy, i'm a dog person too - so sad
Oh no! I hope someone will adopt the dog, he looked like a great pooch.
And the shelter is a 48 hour "kill" shelter
the brother wasn't even sure where the dog was taken
Oh no!
That is just inhuman!
OH NO!
I think it was Fiz's parents who were going to see if they could find him.
hi gang
good evening chj!
tu5/12?
I pray that he's been found and saved! Hi chj
hi, all!
hi chj
we're awaiting peach cobbler that Stid is making!
hi pam
Hi chj. Me, too, lbd.
hi Pam
tu + what you put a golf ball on
cj, ping
Hi Pam
Hi Pam.
aahhhh
and plural that feather
oh my peach cobbler....ill have a piece
that just makes my heart hurt! i'm a dog person too, cats make me itch and sneeze
hi jac
I'm just a general animal lover. I couldn't even im about it last night I was so upset.
get in line chj. lol I've been waiting at least an hour for my piece.
From having dogs all my life, with the occasional cat befriending me of its own accord, I have gone to having 2 cats living with me... both of whom just moved in!
tw6/36?
i'll say most animals...i'm not fond of vermin, or things that crawl or are slimy
3 cats here (and I'm allergic to them!). Two inherited, one stray who didn't leave.
Mind you, I't about 7 years since I had to take my old dog (18) on that last journey over the rainbow bridge and I still hurt over it.
the kids between the ages of 10 and 12 + the sometimes vowel, feather
Feather, add the sometimes vowel to the one above
I,too, am allergic to cats - well, black ones. And my oldest cat is a very Persian black!
I'm not into vermin either lbd! LOL
feather--te+a twerp
aah. again, ty. i could have gotten that from the points maybe, but hubby's watching tv, so it's hard to concentrate!
Especially not into snakes. I'm shivering just thinking about them. Yuk!
*tw +
lol pam, cute clue!
my cat is allergic to people...he got tested
8-)
hi pine
down to 16
What kind of test do they do pinecone?
go feather!
go feather go
we have a dog and a cat, and some fish
hi ld
judy--I love snakes...
Incidentally, I didn't mean by 'just moved in' that the cats are new to me, I meant they took one look at me some years ago, though, 'She looks like a mug!' and wheeled their suitcases in!
I meant lb!
pine cone, my cat hasn't been tested but i suspect her results might be similar
i had a min pin who was raised with rotties, and an overgrown dobbie who was a big baby. the two were laural and hardy all the time
pine, i'm ld too! lol
4 cats adn a dog here. just spent $400 on the vet bills for one of the cats, but it was worth it.
OMG Pam! I saw a snake on a trail in the Grand Tetons right in my path and my friend was afraid I'd have to be airlifted out of there. LOL
judy, i would have been air lifted already! eeeewwww! i hate snakes!
2 cats, 4 rabbits and 5 guinea pigs here. Used to have 18 rabbits, 6 g/pigs, around 22 mice, the same of mixed hamsters and 1 gerbil!
LOL, judy
at6/30?
wow jac!
my cat was having terrible allergies and losing fur...I tried an elimination diet, but he wasn't allergic to his food. After allergy scratch testing, it was found that he is allergic to some trees, human dander...and very allergic to Wool !
I really love seeing them in their element
please :)
good lord jac!
Whew Jac! You must be exhausted just feeding them daily.
Snakes aren't slimey at all, they'e sort of warm and scaley.
wow, jac!!!!
anyone want my wool sweaters?
jac i think thats a record... i've only got a dog and 2 rats
a + kids between the ages of 10 and 12
scampy, a+ bet****
sorry, scampy--no have it here
though i used to have a guinea pig and toads
are you moving to the tropics, pine cone?
pinecone - I know I shouldn't laugh, your poor cat... it's just that it's normally the other way around...
and how did you come to have 2 rats dogluver?
nice clue, lbd, but a stupidhead word, lol
what is the theme?
Jac--do the cats bother the g. pigs?
i adopted them from the animal shelter :p
*wonder how that peach cobbler is coming along*
where, by the way, they spay and neuter mice and rats
the theme is a pic of a word in the grid
yes it is Pam, 3,245,791 i believe...lol
pam - if we're still on the Friday theme, then it's 'take a word from the grid and use your icon to give a clue'.
thanks!
lol, lbd!!!!!!
I think about having a hamster...but with two cats I would hate for the little guy to become a snack
pinecone - No, the cats don't bother the g/pigs and rabbits because the g/pigs and rabbits have their own purpose built shed. (Big hutches & runs, heat, light, air etc.)
I'm not going to picture that pinecone!
pine, you could get one of those tube tunnel things and really drive everyone nuts!
pinecone - If you do get a hamster, do't buy a Russian, go for a Siberian. Russians bite!
done!
hi there, a clue for the st 5/10 and st 6/18, please?
wtg feather!
or dwarf hamsters, their adorable and dont always bite
New to the game...does anyone have a clue for the second to4/4?
wow...it took me too long to get that from those hints...thanks!
wooooo hooooooo feather!
*they're
chic - st5 & plural 6 sound like something you might get on your clothes if you spilled something on them.
welcome, gmo!!!!
I'll didn't know that, thanks.
woohoo Feather *doin' the victory dance and sipping a martini with Feather*
chic, sounds like the pretty glass in churches, spelled differently
lol, couldn't have done it without you judy!
Welcome GMO. to4 - small kids
I'm loving all the food and drink talk!
thanx, lb, I thought I tried that
whooo hooo Feather!
pinecone - Having said that about hamsters, it's probably best NOT to have one in the vicinity of cats. Hamsters (like mice) are notorious escapers... A hamster I gave to a friend with a cat did end up as lunch for the moggy.:(
Thanks..got it
gmo, we're such gluttons, i mean gourmands here.
get rats pinecone!
or gerbils
And, GMO, we spend way tooooo much time Babbling!
i had a roommate with a pet rat...darn thing insisted on sleeping on my pillows!
hi all! my cat *loved* it when my brother decided to start keeping hamsters ....
I'm certainly a glutton for punishment as far as this grid goes!
very funny Atalante
oh don't go there Atalante! Not a pretty picture!
gmo, feel free in asking for clues
Hi, ata!
lbd - I hope he was potty trained! (The rat, not the room mate. Mind you, I hope the room mate was, too!)
lol Jac
when he got to the 8th hamster, he decided that maybe hamsters and cats didn't go together ...
Ata - I bet your cat looked at them exercising in their cage at night and though, 'Yummy! Meals on Wheels!'
roommate was great, and the rat was too, except when i'd come home from class and want to crash...there that darn rat would be just daring me to move him
oh, my...8?
ROFL Jac
if you get two rats they'll keep each other company so you can leave them in the cage more, so they wont sleep on your pillow
oh jac! rofl
st6,33 either, or?
meals on wheels--that's brilliant!!!!
first one gmo. tomatoes that are cooked with other herbs and spices.
on a non-animal related topic? Has anyone read Philip Pullman?
I bet he did! the hamsters used to have a small ball which they could roll around in on the floor. Cat used to pick up the ball in his mouth and drag it off!
second one, put your gear away on board ship
st + female sheep + consonant
GMO - st6/33 = past tense of st4/8. (A hearty 'soup'.)
the golden compass series? yes!
yes, lbd, that one!
I am enjlying the first book
GMO - st6/33 (2nd one) = put the cargo in the hold (nautical). Or what the st**away did!
REALLY enjoying!
thanks for both = : )
good reads. i think a bit complicated for the age group he supposedly wrote them for.
i think the series is called His Dark Materials
the subtle knife is kinda scary
No, pam. Not read any Philip Pulman.
i read the trilogy a few years ago
fabulous books
I think a 12-year old would LOVE it, as long as they were a good reader
yes chj, that's it!
Yes, you are right, chj
the first is the compass one
I am so enjoying it the way I like to enjoy fantasy!
Ata - Oh dear! I can just picture that. Did the hamsters die of heart failure?
unless you're in the UK, when its Northern Lights
the golden compass, the subtle knife and the amber spyglass
jac, I think you might enjoy it
it's a good book. i enjoyed it when i read it, and it will be one i re-read too
well they never seemed to last very long ......
i really enjoyed them...i heard some time ago that the were making them into a movie
hate to see movies of books i've read...
that would be interesting to see on film. and with the cgi getting better each year...wow1
I don't think I'd want to see them on film ... they are just too perfect as books!
depends on who the screenwriter and director is, as to how well the story will be done
cgi, lbd?
computer generated imagery
anyone know the first co4/6?
oh, thanks, lbd
hi everybody!!
Hi Fran!
Ata - I never understand why they give books different titles in UK & US. For instance, Robert James Waller's book was called 'Love In Black and White' in US, but 'The Bridges of Madison County' in the rest of the world (and for the film, with Clint Eastwood & Meryl Streep). I bought the book under the US title in Portugal, of all places. (That was before the film came out.)
hi lbd!
hi fran!
hey fran!
hi, fran
man, jac, i was FORCED to read that book
scampy - secret co**
hi atalante! hi ping!
not sure if thats the first one
Hi Fran!
I've never understand changing Northern Lights to The Golden Compass. Doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever
they do the same with movies...different titles in Europe and US
Hi Fran.
pam - forced? By whom?
sorry scampy got involved in the book reviews.
hi fran! hi everyone! back for my last 15

is there 165 words today?
hi, debb
go gmo!
Fireworks appear under the grid, GMO
the same. Subtle Knife and Amber Spyglass. It was only the first book that got changed for the US
hey chj - he got off to a rocky start - but calmed down nicely

Ata - my Mum has that trouble when she's on her computer, too.
she is quite intelligent actually (IMHO)
apples not falling far from the tree
well of course she is Fran! she's your prodigy
oh my goodness! There are fireworks!
dogs are tricksy little buggers when they want attention!

Hi Harp. Hello again Stid.
Hi harpjane!
st 6, no doubt
chicken-mango sausage? Is that sausage made out of chicken & mango? Or chicken sausage with a mango topping? Either way I want some!
just wanted to say goodnight, I'm falling asleep here. See you tomorrow
Dinner sounds sticky but yummy, Stid.

hi harpjane
cya, pappou ted!
no sn4
We got it from costco, jane -- It's chicken sausage with mango bits inside. :-)
Hi, harp and the recent arrivals
good night, Penny, sweet dreams!
We're having sausage balls with spaghetti (or maybe tagliatelli, I'll see how I feel) with a passata & herby sauce.
sounds delish Jac!
Okay. That's it. Time for a snack. bbl
LOL, Judy!
we have garlic and chicken sausages but they are not as goodas thepork and garlic sausages the italian butchers make. Stid you are making me hungry and i cant get my cherrios as the are upstairs and my partner is sleeping in
thinking of having mushroom and bacon fetticini tonight
herinfern - Yummy!
oh, yum! I really like fettucini!
I LOVE Italian food. Especially when I make it myself.
juac and the best thing is the recipe is a low fat recipe that is actually yummy
all this food talk is making me drool on my keyboard!
all of this sounds yummy!
dinner is far too far away to think about here!
what is the first letter of nrkii's clue?
Italian food is my favorite....when made well it is heavenly
its only 11am here but i am thinking of dinner as i need to prepare
Ata - well, it's about 17/18 hours away here, too.
can i come have some jac? next time you cook?
annie, tiramasu
but I might make spinach and mozzarella lasagne lol
i make that very well, boasting
lasagne... oh! I love lasagne!
tortolini al funghi in a cream sauce
Ata - not a fan of spinach.
jane...S
Lasagne? I'm the chamption lasagne maker. LOL.
God, this is driving me crazy, not the grid, the food talk yuuummmmmmy
I shoulda been italiana... but as far as I can tell my ancestors haven't even been "through" Italy in the last 30,000 years! *sigh*
ok, I must have it then!
My tiramasu is NOT for any driving.
and gelato for dessert
mmmm I adore spinach! and lasagne - I could live on lasagne. put the two together and its perfect for me! actually *any* lasagne is pretty perfect. M&S do the best chicken and caramelised onion lasagne ...
i learnt how to make gnocci from my exs nonna so im very lucky
pistachio gelato, divine
jac neither is mine
jane, it's like the picture but with a different vowel and really has nothing to do with the guy in the pic.
Ata - if it's M&S pre-prepared food, then I 'forgive' you. So cheap and easy to make your own, though...
jac is that marks and spencers?
tiramisu...where? *drool*
I make my own Italian food, 99 times out of 100, but I *do* love that M&S chicken ready made one!
Also, making your own, you can bung all your favourite things into it.
oh yuck, now my keyboard is all wet! *hands lbd a towel*
ok got it!
neapolitan style very thin crusted pizza
I can live on lasane, too, ata
Ata - I'll get some in, on your recommendation, for one of those 'busy' days.
eggplant and black olives, chj
*lasagne
thanks Stid...think i need one of those keyboard guard thingies.
australian good taste magazine is where i get my recipes from.
stuffed shells....yummmmm
ricotta pie
lbdawger and Stid, you need to put some saran wrap over your keyboard
its really nice - not as heavy as beef / bolognaisey lasagne. the only problem is you can therefore eat twice as much of it!
Oh YUK, hate olives! I made myself try them again when in Crete (yes, yes, yes! I AM writing the travelog slowly), but still didn't like 'em.
porcini mushroom ravioli
and a drool bib too!
http://www.australiangoodtaste.com.au/
olives are nectar, lol
Chestnut mushrooms have a wonderful flavour.
bread salad
jac my old dog loved olives, we had a tree out the back and the dog used to eat them all the time
pasta fagioli, no meat
my son hates olives, avocados and bananas, not real fond of mushrooms. he says its a texture thing. lol he got that line from me!
What's this chatlog become? Cookout 2006?? ROFLOL
foccaccia bread dipped in olive oil
avocados! YUM!
we could do foodnetwork chat line
mussels di zuppa
i love olive oil but am not fond of olives
I don't like avocados or mangos straight -- they're slimy. I don't eat slimy. But I like guacamole and I learned to like mangos in some dishes.
olive oil and a bit of balsamic vinegar with that bread!
ohhhhh bananas i cant wait till next year when we finally have a banana crop to eat
pad thai. now I have a sudden craving for thai food
with a crusty Italian bread to wipe up the sauce with
lbd - I only like really fresh bananas, hate olives (as I said), avocados to me are a bit like cottage cheese; I gag at first, but, after a few tries, can get used to them.
no bananas here. that texture thing. yech
thai? with a spicy basil sauce--drunken noodles
what is caster sugar please? Is it granulated, or powdered or super-fine?
pesto sauce
super fine sugar
Blinking heck! It's 2.14am here. (WHAT?? Oh heck!) I'm getting hungry...
thanks lbd -- there's a recipe on that site herinfernal suggested for "cardamom toffee tart"...
mackey in aus had 36 000 cartoons of bananas now there is 4% of that due to a cyclone and now we have to wait till chrissy or next year so they are tasty
Stid - caster sugar is finely ground sugar, not as fine as icing sugar.
superfine
anyone with ce5/12?
okay, I can find that type of sugar.
my dogs loved bananas...but it would also give them gass...ergh, banana farts!
more translation please... what is "2 x 250g punnets strawberries" -- pints?
scampy--c**** & desist
stidmama ask away if you need conversions as i use that mag every month and know a lot of the recipes
scampy - ce5/12 - stop or halt, or desist.
scampy or inc****
punnets are boxes you pick fruit in - about 15cm x 10cm *ish*!
oops...i meant co
500grams of strawberries
scampy--terra C****
co plus color the sun turns you
Stid - I think we need to set up some kind of UK/US conversion table on my recipes thread in BabAnon. Not just me, but all of us contributing until we get a table that makes sense to all of us.
thanks all!
herin where are you from?
ibd- that was it! thanks!
australia, melbourne, lb
you be scampy.
thats a good idea Jac, I can help - I've had to translate various UK things into American over the years!
well, that made no sense...your welcome scampy
brb
That would be very helpful, Jacula! I know I can find the info online "somewhere" but I only seem to need it when I get together with other babblers.
did any of you ever watch "two fat ladies" cooking show? i loved them and learned so much about the UK terms
so Atalante -- why are you up so late/early? I know Jacula
Jacula's a night owl...
I always thought I was doing well to convert grams to ounces and such. Then I read Jacula's recipe and see "swedes" and such and realize I am truly in another country!
well ... I had really bad asthma a day or two ago, nearly ended up in hospital, since then I've been resting with a capital R and now cos I've rested all day, I'm wide awake!
Ata - any contribution or input there would be most welcome.
helpt with the second EA 5/10?
oh NO! Atalante, I am so sorry to hear that. I hope you figured out and eliminated the trigger!
I will gladly help with that conversion table, since I am forever using German recipees.
Stid - was that the st4/8 recipe?
Ping -- I am going to consume my dinner. When finished, I will have ea 5 it.
Inge - thank you, also!
guten abend, inge!
thanks, stid
Enjoy, Stid!
ea==food that has gone done your gullet
thanks, annie
I think so, Jacula -- there were two recipes that called for swedes. I was wondering if they had to be blond or if any swede would do...
its a yearly thing. I always get bad asthma in this week of August! must be related to something in the fields I think. However, this year is the first year so far I've managed to stay out of hospital ... so I'm feeling very pleased with myself!
lol
the blonder the better!
Well. good then. Maybe you'll grow out of it yet!
laughing at Stid....
LOL Stid!
stid confectioners sugar is what your looking for as its sifted castor suger
Ata - glad to hear you've done better this year. I wonder if the dry spell before helped or hindered?
not good atalante.
Hi Stid, I was busy scrolling back in the chat.
thanks, her!
stid my partner used to be a pastry cook
hopefully! getting stuck in hospital each year is not my idea of fun! I don't know, Jac. Helped I think, cos often rain triggers allergies. But I've been doing a lot of preventive medicating this year, taking steroids before I actually *need* them and stuff, and it seems to be working bar a few hours here and then
by the way, Stid, my husband also likes to bake. Has his own breadmachine and fixres breakfast with waffles, etc.
mmmm pastry. I think I was a pastry cook in a former life. I used to love eclairs and cream puffs and petit fours, and...
Men who bake are SOOOO sexy! (imho)
Sugar - sugar in UK is graded thus: lump sugar, with is chunks or globules or brown or white sugar used for sweetening drinks. Granulated sugar, used for drinks and in cooking. Caster sugar - finer grains than granulated sugar, usually used in making sponge cakes etc. Icing sugar - used for making iced cakes, frosting etc.
My Tom pretty much controls our breakfasts on the weekends.
I'll have to tell him that, hope he can take it!!!
I've been reading a cupcake blog lately...and it makes me want to bake cupcakes! http://cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.co m/2006/08/frosting-lust.html
icing sugar = confectioners sugar, caster = superfine or near enough, granulated is I think the same in the US (?)
inge waffles, i make bread from scratch and don't have a machine. Grannie used to make bread just after she got up and stuck the dough in the bed to rise
hello pinecone!
hello stidmama...you are making me hungry!
back after dinner.
I only make my Stollen by hand
herinfern - Bread, or rather dough, is the one thing I am rubbish at making... I don't seem to be able to get enough aggression into the kneading/pounding stage. (Maybe I should try again on a day when the Babbler server is playing up??)
and my husbland grew up in western Pa with five siblings, all bread was baked once a week from scratch
that's a lot of work inge
During the bread strikes of the 70's in UK my poor ex-hubby had to make do with 'unleavened bread' for his sandwiches.
Thing is... it wasn't supposed to be unleavened..
yea, but ot in the thirties adn forties. My Stollen only take a couple of days to make, but have to sit in cool space for 3-6 weeks. I usually bake during the Tnanksgiving break.
He wasn't my ex-hubby then, btw. He was was new hubby! And, no, don't anyone dare even speculate!!! LOL
jac with the yeast mix cover with plastic put in warm oven and wait till it looks like beer, frothy and stuff, mix with dough hooks and then stick in a warm bed to rise for how ever long the recipe says, then take out and kneed then back in the covers
*not
Hey Kevin... are you online?
hey mom
wanna play? If you need a hint let me know
yeah ok
has anyone here made sourdough bread? is it as horribly complicated as it sounds?
tuse
herinfern - I didn't think it worked in an oven (the 'put in a warm place to rise' bit). I have a low setting on my own and so I will try that. I'll try Chelsea buns next week.
my bad
Ata - no, not me. I don't do the yeast recipes. LOL.
my bread comes out like hockey pucks
(That may change though, if herinfern's hint works for me.)
lbd - mine, too!:(
atalante we used to make it at work um i think we used to make it like bread
Kevin - there's one here that your room will never be - starts with "N"
thats a dis
oh thatonekid i think you have been sprung
I want it to be possible to make sourdough in my bread maker, but I really don't think it is *sigh*
hello all,

good evening folks. can anyone clue the at 6?

leslie i used to work there when the had 1 aus store and i wish i could eat there again, the reason i asked is they make sour dough bread
thanks pinecone
Someone had a glove puppet as their icon on here much earlier, it was Sweep's companion. A clue to the su5.
yummy, i hadn't stopped by there yet, maybe i should
so the grid says i have 1 left - but i acutlaly have 3 left
It's tipping down with rain here now (in UK). I'm glad I brough my washing in!
go and look at their website and it will tell you what the have, the louisianna hot sauce was awesome
*brought
who is sweep, jac?
and i hate the su 6/21 that is not melanin-related
i remember sweep jac
pam - he's a spaniel/doggy puppet from a children's show of long ago. Google Harry Corbett. (His son, was my children's Deputy Head at middle school. He brought the puppets in for them.)
Did you guys know that Pluto isn't a planet any more...Its a dwarf planet...no joke
Harry Corbett's other son now continues the show, I believe.
sounds, neat, jac

how cool, jac!
pam used a Woooord!!!

my favorite headline from today was "It sounds goofy, but Pluto's not a planet"
lol - good one leslie
thatonekid - yes, so I read today.
LOL leslie

'Night thatonekid.
thanx!
night that onekid
see u guys later
night, night ...kid
good night, kid
how's about that dy 6?
i like how charon and xena planets are also dwarf planets too.
Bye that one kid... LOVE YOU
I was going to say, but didn't like to, as a child was present, that the Pluto thing may well last about as long as the one where they started pronouncing Uranus ' 'U Run Us' instead of 'Your Anus'.
love u 2
has this ever happened to anyone - i got fireworks - but i have the sa 6/18 and the sa 7/28 missing - and it's not greyed out in tile stats...
nice
EEK! Child is still present. Huge apologies to all!
jac - I thought they changed it to Urine us
its cool i didn't think of it
pluto doesn't have enough gravity to form a sphere apparently
nice
debbinla, try refreshing, that may put everything into proper place
oh dear - child must be having a big giggle
think kids can cope with anatomy ;)

2126 for me too
Jillli, I like my birthday cupcake so much that I am keeping it for a while (thanks to you)
know im confused 2
debb -- you refreshed. Have you tried logging out and logging back in?
annie is it your b-day today?
maybe uranus was named after someones boss
Jilli - Patrick Moore (The Sky At Night programme) definitely said, 'U Run Us'. And, as far as I am concerned, the made professor with the eyebrow with a life of its own is the God of all thing astonomical. LOL.
good idea stid - i'll do that ! thanks
I have had instances, when I had more points for some words than Lickety allowed. By next morning it all got fixed in the ratings
Nope, I'm a November baby
It's an old icon
oh ok
jac - since when was an "a" pronounced as a "u"?
i feel dumb, but anyone know the third ne4,4?
scampy - what fish are caught in.
er...the last one
thanks jac
nope - stays the same - can anyone clue the sa 6/18 and the sa 7/28 cause despite fireworks, i know i'm missing them
and jac, on which syllable was the emphasis?
ne + double consonant
jilli - the 1st one.
material like silk, debb
later iam getting ready
woo hoo! thanks
sa + someone between the ages of 12 and 20, debb
bye herin
sa 6 is a strange spelling of a shiny fabric, and then plural
so that makes it Urine us!
aaah thanks ata, leslie and inge
jilli - Not the way Patrick Moore says it, it doesn't!
now i have 2142 points and word stats says -2 left
man whoever's coming in now has got to be *so* confused. Urine? Anus? I thought this was Babble!
or YOU'RE in us!
how strange is that ?
debb - Have you tried signing out and then signing in again?
i did jac
oh well - at least i'm done - thanks for the help everyone
No, jillia - he was quite specific over his pronunciation, prob. because he thought the change quite ridiculous.
I will start the story in a few minutes. People who missed last night's will be lost unless they get caught up at http://p105.ezboard.com/fbabblersanony mousfrm10
hooray debb!
I suppose it depends on how you pronounce urine.
yay, debbinla!!!! and lol, jilli
jilli - but it isn't urine, it's urun.
YAY debb!
Jill -- it's pronounced "pee"
bravo Deb, fill us in tomorrow, as to how this comes out..your score I mean
right, not the urun
i have to catch up stid - story time always happens when it's time to leave work - and when it time to leave - i leave - see you all later !
Stid, i am ready for our third test
LOL Stid. I'm off to bed now. I don't think anyone else needs clues, do they? Sit back and listen to Stid's Storytime. (I'll catch up later, Stid.)
later, debb
night or good morning, Jacula
I've never been up and online for Stid's Story before!
bye jac
Annie - a bit of both.
sweet dreams, Jacula!
it's pretty cool atalante
night, jac
it's pretty exciting, ata
Ata - enjoy!
okay -- the third test: what is 2 to the 100th power (riemann, if you're lurking just keep lurking)
*giggle*
dy6?
I only ask things that I don't know the answer, btw!
I need hurshy for that one, stid
dy 6: a 1980s US TV show, women with big hair and shoulder pads -- and too much money!
la, the show with Joan Collins without the last letter
ahhh thanks
help with se 8 anyone?
teeter totter , past tense
past tense of a playground toy, ping!
Ping, it is a teeter totter
Do we have enough blankies and pillows, folks? Atalante, the routine is that I tell the story and people are free to comment, ask for and give clues or talk about sports etc. We are not uptight. :-)
Thanks everyone for making my son welcome... he's thatonekid... he's almost 16 and spending the fall semester in Florida
i keep trying astute. obviously i am not.
*sits back*
There is a simple "family tree" in the first post of the story at BabAnon if you get confused...
thanks, inge and LA!
lol, froelica--nice phantom!
i'm ready, stid
atalante, here's a pillow and blankie for you
np katryn, he's a fun kid
katryn, I wondered whose child that was! he was "most well behaved" as Jane Austen might have said...
he's always welcome here
thanks pam :)
he used to stand over my shoulder in the evening giving me hints.. nice to work side by side now.
well, after a lousy sleep week, I must bid you all a fair adieu
phone, brb
Good luck, good listening, and good fun!!!!!!
good night Pam, see you next time!
nite Pam
night Pam!
night, night Pam
Paul has almost taken us to the land he believes he came from. He is traveling with Aema who has taken on the role of teacher and guide, and she has asked several questions, each time giving him an article of clothing to replace his rather worn travel gear.
took a refill break - if jac's still here I just want to say that over here in North America urine is pronounced urun.
night pam
Gilly was nestled in Paul's arms, eyes almost closed, listening intently. His voice was deep and strong, and the melody in his words seemed to send her into a dream... she could see his journey, hear Aema's voice, feel the air and the movement of the cart as Paul and Aema traveled on through the night.
Paul continued his story...
Soon we the walls began moving away from us, the trail broader and better paved.
A few grasses and flowers now emerged from the base of the cliffs, and every so often a small animal -- a hare or small cat-like animal would dart away and disappear through a crack in the wall.
tw 6/36?
Aema changed her song, and it was as if she sang the sun into the new day.
add the sometimes vowel to the 5/18 before it
the tw 5/18 preceding plus sometime vowel
I listened, fascinated, catching a few words here and there.
inbet**** with sometimes vowel
oh man! it had to be *that* easy, huh?
beautiful image, stid
<*)))<<< just for you leslie
The swallows gave way to other birds; and the walls grew white, tinged violet with the dawn.
thanks lb ;)
Finally, on the left there was a small carving, then a placard on the right in the same characters as on the stone piles at the river.
A statue of an elegant person -- I could not tell man or woman -- stood serenely by a pool with a waterfall.
Here, we stopped one last time. Aema took the jenny off the harness and led her into the pool.
Coming out, what had been a tired, thin mule was a handsome, energetic beast.
The water in the pool turned gray, but quickly cleared.
Aema stooped and washed her face and hands. Then she turned to me.
good evening all
hey dorens
"Paulo, before you enter the pool, you must tell me: Why have you made this journey? What do you hope will result? What is the greatest treasure?"
good evening Dorens! new icon!
hello dorens
I looked at her and found the answers to my questions of the previous weeks.
beautiful icon! what is it?
"I made this journey to find out about myself."
"I hope to become a better man for it."
"The greatest treasure is Love."
clue for the day, stid
got it, dorens
Aema nodded solemnly, and pointed me into the pool.
I started to disrobe, but she laughed and pushed me in.
Startled, I swallowed some of the water and came up spluttering.
The water was -- sweet? or perhaps just so clean? --
he 5/22? not the past tense word. 3 left...
I ducked my head under and walked out, wiping the water from my face, shaking my hair.
wy 4?
he 5/22 casts a spell on
what witches put on you, leslieann
see my icon, leslie
oooh i was still trying to use the w. done!!
YAY LeslieAnn!
YAY leslie!!!!
hooray leslieann!
bravo, Leslie
whoo hoo leslie!
*sits down quietly* congrats, LA
Aema was waiting, holding boots and a belt. She smiled approvingly.
Paulo, you have traveled far, and will journey even further before you have all your questions answered.
"Close your eyes now, and tell me what you see."
I held the boots while I closed my eyes.
"I see -- my home. I must be standing in the middle of the field. I can see the barn, the house ..."
I could feel tears springing from my eyes.
de 7 & 8 combo?
"I see my wife, working in the field with the children, weeding around the small plants."
"There is a large bird above, it must be an eagle. I can't hear anything."
de = ce*** & desist and plural
munner-think mortality
"I see -- that must be the baby... holding tight to my wife's skirt and following in her footsteps. Why doesn't she pull the weeds like the others?"
I could feel Aema's hand on my shoulder.
From far away, came the sound of a song. The image faded and I opened my eyes.
"Oh Aema -- my family!"
And I found myself in her embrace, sobbing.
Aema continued to sing, and finally I was able to look around.
The jenny had walked up and was nuzzling me. Aema gave her a pat on the forelock and led her back to the cart and began to hitch her up.
I pulled on my boots and the belt. Like all the other clothes, they fit without struggle.
Climbing into the cart, I noticed that it seemed a bit smaller than before.
Then I realized that the boots were of thicker leather with heels. I laughed, and Aema smiled.
I ran my hands through my hair and looked at her. She nodded and we began to move on.
Another statue, a tablet with some ornamentation, a bit of stonework at the base of the walls.
The cliffs were receding, leaning backward into the mountains and pulling away from the road.
We came out of the pass and I saw a wide land stretched out ahead.
There were fields as far as the eye could see, with small farmsteads and clusters of houses every so often.
There were larger towns scattered among the smaller villages.
The land was ringed by mountains, with a large plateau in the center.
The plateau was surmounted by towers -- dozens of them, reaching up into the sky.
I turned to Aema, "This is your home?"
i've always wanted to see a plateau
She nodded, "Yes, but Paulo -- it may not be your home. Do not get your hopes up."
I like the plateau at Thanksgiving, nut -- filled with turkey, stuffing, roasted veggies...
lol stiddy!
everything is coming back round to food tonight!
I breathed in the air -- it felt as good as the water in the pool. Clean. There was energy here; peace and joy and possibility.
food? - gimme some! don't ya'll go hoarding it.
"Well," I said, "Home or not, this is where I will look for answers."
nutty, that was before storytime. You were late, ergo no food now!
I got the black box that says "congratulations, you
A jangling sound from behind startled me, and I turned. Several muscled men pulled up on large horses and saluted Aema.
ingy - you are like the seinfeld soup nazi!
have completed todays puzzle, but no fireworks, anyone else?
YAY KMS! (old fashioned fireworks time) >>***<<>>***<<
KMS, fireworks only appear for "pro" members after the first two weeks...
hi kms, wish I could say I've completed, but haven't. and congrats on completion!
I AM a pro member
*sneaks in, grabs some cobbler, sneaks back out*
**offers blackberry and peach cobbler to everyone** plenty to go around
woohoo KMS.
cobbler? cobbler? where's the cobbler?
congrats, kms
ahhh there it is, by Stid, not surprised. thanks...i love it!
KMS, did yo pay your dues and fill out a profite?
Aema inclined her head slightly and smiled as one man dismounted and came up. He bowed deeply.
"Aema, we are pleased to find you have arrived. I trust your passage was pleasant."
se 6/18 and the last se 5/10..pls
*profile
i love cobbler!
He stated it as if it could never have been otherwise.
Paid dues, no profile, but I've never gotten just the black box without fireworks.
se 6, the group in washington, dc
She laughed and the music was picked up by the bells on the horses' tack.
Hm. Don't know. Sometimes that happens, KMS. I've never figured out why.
something wrong then, write a ote to Dr. God
*note
The man turned to me, but Aema made a gesture and he merely saluted and remounted.
It's not a big deal. I'm happy just to finish. But I'm ready for one of those 50 word grids.
They rode on, a few in front, a few behind, and the man who had spoken on the side nearest the valley as we descended.
last se 5/10..pls
Occasionally, he and Aema would converse in their language. I could almost make sense of their speech at times.
that makes no se***
They were discussing me. I had the feeling that the tests I had passed might be only the beginning of the strange events to come.

But the day was bright and clear, the company of men interesting to watch, and the land grew more and more beautiful.
**back to normal mode**
Paul glanced down at Gilly, who was fast asleep.
dorens, the group that meets in washington and passes laws
He smiled, and gently set her down on her pillow, pulling the sheets up.

thnx...now need ta 5/20 and one of the ta 4/5 not sure which
su + double cons + vowel
He slipped out of bed and quietly opened his trunk. There on top lay a beautifully worked belt and a well-worn pair of boots.
i wonder how much she missed
thanks annie
yw dorens
Quietly, he reached underneath and pulled out a small crystal vial on a chain. He put it carefully around his neck under his shirt and got dressed.
finished! and with fireworks!
congrats, ata!!!
The sun was beginning to color the sky in shades of peach and beet-streaked clouds stretched across the sky.
woohoo Atalante!
YAY Atalante!
whoo hoo solvers
hooray atalante!!!
*busy stuffing face with cobbler! yummm thanks Stid*
He closed the trunk and tiptoed to the kitchen to stoke the fire. A new day, a new life stretched before his family.
**that's it for today folks, hope it was worth the wait!**
that was wonderful, thanks so much
Thanks Stid, excellent as always, including the peach cobbler. Is there some left for Nutty?
that was most enjoyable stid
great, was hoping we would find out what is in the vial????
absolutely! we made extra, since we figured there would be latecomers.
thanks Rlee, didn't see you come in!
have not been here for a while. what is going on stidmama? I do love a good stoked fire
Now Annie, like Sheherazade, if I tell you , you won't want to keep me alive for another night!
thanks again, stid - now can I have some cobbler please? Love cobbler. Love storytime. Love you.
snuck in and went back to read all you wrote
oh Stid, i will definitely keep you here forever!
Veruca, I have been telling a story for 28 days. A new chapter most nights... they are at Babbler's Anonymous in the "Other Interests" section
**feeling very loved and appreciated**
thanks, what a great idea!!
her poor fingers are going to be exhausted
thanks folks. Now the storyteller wants some cobbler too! back later!
Gute Nacht allesamt!
have you read Robert Carter's "fantasy" books, Stid? If not, you should - from what you wrote there I can tell you'd love them
last one....ta 5/20...pls
i got a kitten, but she keeps digging her claws into me is there any way to stop her with out smacking ?
Haven't heard of that author before Atalante, will have too look him up at the library.
de-claw?
TA 5/20: I tawt I taw a puddy tat, gramma -- past tensse the verb
Thanks Mom
rlee, do you have a scratching post for her???
i don't want to smack as she is a stray and very scareed, just starting to come and stay near me
they are set in "alternate" 15th century England. really wonderful books. "The Language of Stones" and "The Giant's Dance"
no, i just got her
Does the water spray work on cats RLee? It helps to discourage dogs from some behaviors.
just grin and bear it Rlee until she gets used to you enough to discourage her more easily!
On the other hand, maybe you just need to weat extra layers for a bit... it's still technically winter for you!
i will try anything, mind you baby is very jealous , will not have anything to do with her
okay, really outta here for a bit.
i have a blanket over my lap for that reason :p
rlee, a scratching post would be helpful and a lot of petting and thick clothes
so you all are against the de-clawing? (LOL)
unless she'll let you cut them, but if she's a nervy stray, I can't imagine she would
bye stid....enjoy your cobbler
thank you for suggestions will try them
later stid
no she will come to you , but if you make a move to her she bolts
she has to get used to you and to trust you....she will
I'd say now isn't the time to start scaring her in any way then. If you can put up with the clawing, I would ... at least for a while until she gets more trusting
yeah will take time, least she has food and a warm home now
all set up for tomorrow
please don't declaw! Maybe she's just kneading out of affection and missing her ma
omg thats barbaric
riee.. can you make sure you have some cloth on your lap when she sits there?
yes - don't declaw! please!
I am sorry...brain dead..I guess..I can't get the clue for ta 5/20
night everyone see you tomorrow
i have a blanket over my lap, cause her claws are so long they go through my jeans
ta + to marry
rockingramma rhymes with sa 5/20
Rhee I hate to discourage you but I have a five year old siamese that we rescued when she was about 3 weeks old and she STILL kneads and sucks on my hand! lol

nite lbd
nite, lbd
co 5/22 please?
thanx..I got it
very true, hpyhrted, but you can always start cutting their claws and giving them scratching posts .. helps a *bit*!
co + again, to marry
when you take her to the vet for a de-fleaing and checkup and shots, they can cut her nails really short even if they have to knock her out for a bit
thanks annie..that i should have ffound
Knowing her she would cut MY claws if I tried that!! Ever had a Siamese???
was just going to say that, jill
if i sneeze or cough i don't see her for at least an hour, never seen anything like it she is so funny, hides under the lounge
good, ata!
since the day I was born, hpyhrted!
Aren't they wonderful??
not saying its *easy*, but it is *possible* LOL
as I said -- gotta go -- cul8r
rlee, how did you get the cat?
enjoy your dinner, jilli
I *adore* them! Siameses are just the best cats
hi annie
hi nut!!!! where is your sis?
she was eating out of the bins behind my mums work, they caugght her in a trap with food, found out they were taking her to the pound to be put down, one look at that face and i was lost
who?
My daughter tried the spray bottle with her to change behaviors and the next thing we knew she picked up the bottle, pranced over to my daughter and dropped it at her feet - like, lets play!!
saying that, I've got a Burmese not Siamese right now LOL
anjd girls just wanna have fun
ren...what a surprise...
where's mom? she told you to stop following me.
that's all they really want
it possibly will be hard work, Rlee, and you'll probably regret it on numerous fleeting occasions, but perservere adn you'll have a devoted gorgeous companion

hi fran
hi fran!
hi TO and debb!
done debb?
hello Fran
hi dilly!
will someone go get me some tacos????
i am fran - but really strange - cause i got fireworks even though i had two left and all the boxes weren't grey - then i put in th last two words and now it says i have 167 words 2142 points and the word stats say "-2"
how strange debb! i guess dr_g hasn't resolved all the issues.
ok, opinions... I haven't started yet, have just barely an hour - should I start?
i would krys, but i'm just strange
i would too
hi rennie! don't you have one of those companies that deliver anything you want?
the question would be, how much do you worry about your stats krys?
ok, friends, here goes...
hi, all! did nut find her dog?
You can do it!
the dog is gone?
hi lib!
hey, fran!

magbag, plural of chair (se4/4)
thanks so much!
Hi all
yw magbag!
hi ang! don't usually see you this time of the day!
hi, ang!
It's Saturday. And I'm not doing anything - suffering from infected gland in neck. All I can do is Babble. How sad! NOT

oh no ang - i hope ou feel better
W's are done
goooo krys!
fran - you're all over the quote puzzler! nice
Had a quick try of this grid last night and didn't do well. So thought I'd give it another go. Fran's not winning on QP again is she?
thanks debb! i had three stars yesterday, quite a surprise.
where is quote puzzler
How's this? I didn't want a typical palindrome so I made a visual one.
Well done Fran
U's are done. not so bad so far!

ty i must try it have you done word racer?

very impressive fran !!
does that give you points?
if you decide you like it and subscribe i will
no pressure though!
thanks debb!
gtg - see you tomorrow!
hi everyone
night TO!
hi andree!
Hi Andree
a clue for wa5/22 and we w/18[last one] please
andree, make an adj out of wa4/8 right before it
wa5/18 is what garbage is or what you do when you are not frugal
good evening/morning/aftrenoon everyone
okay, does anyone know why certain words are considered words, but others aren't? yesterday, shat was a word, but not mosh (but both are listed in the dictionary used on here)
hi andy!!
hello andree
hello andy
virgin, the dictionary used is enable, which apparently not searched by dictionary.com for defs.
hello Fran and Deb -5 to go so I have to focus on grid b4 I can focus on chat lol
yell if you need clues andy!
go andy go!
I sure will
thx Fran for 5/22, for the other I meant we/518
so a word might be found by dictionary.com, but if it's not in enable then it's not a word in the grid
so enable is just used to define the words, not as a comprehensive list of what words are considered words here lol
andree, great clue i got today was not nooorth
need last wa4/8, have thelight bulb
i mean dictionary.com is used to define
lol - i like that fran
Andree, there is a we 5/18 that is to think, or could be alternative spelling for another we 5/18
andree, drop a letter from the light bulb word and make it plural
great clue Fran
debb, that was torgone's clue, i got it right away
that's right virgin! and a lot of times dictionary.com doesn't have a def for words in the grid
and pyros pour mois
yay andy!!!!!!
WD Andy
anyone needs clues ?
CONGRATS ANDY!!!
ty Fran
and ty deb
YAY andy!
hey stid! how'd you do at QP?

not really here (no surprise, I suppose)
not bad, andy! you?
thanks debb
