if anybody ever goes to cannon beach again, go to ecola state park. absolutely the best view of the coast.
there's a few pretty oregon pics here: http://elegaer-again.deviantart.com/ga llery/ all from May
I'll definitly check it out.
lol sprite, really its no problem redrawing as many times as necessary!!! Its a lovely design to draw again and again anyway :) proper reply via emailo later :)
beautiful, ata
We went to Cape Disappointment when we were there. That was really amazing.
i know, deceiving name, huh :)
Great, Ata! I am so glad you feel that way. It is working out even better than we thought, isn't it? And PSP helps, I think?
Yeah, no disappointments there. Unless you're a ship.
yes - PSP really helps :) and yes, its going to end up wonderful, I just know!
hehe! "yay, land! waaah!!"
Great pics Ata!
you both live in a gorgeous gorgeous place ...
thanks! i think so too :)
Yeah, I had the choice of moving here or New Orleans. I think I made the right decision. Although I do love NO.
i'm slowing down. i'm distracted by conan o'brien...
i've never been, always wanted to go, snpp!
I'd love to go there too ... next year I'm hoping *fingers crossed* to be able to come over to the US for a good few weeks. My best friend and I are aiming to go down to Dragon*Con in Atlanta, and then she wants to show me around Arizona, where she grew up. Then some time in Astoria as well
It's a wonderful city. Really sad to go back after Katrina though. The destruction is just unbelievable.
Atalanta to Atlanta... seems fitting!
lol yes! hadnt thought of that!
that sounds awesome ata. see, and i'm hoping to go to the uk next year. we'll be ships passing in the night
well i'm off now for dinner, cya later
bye for now Beast
I'm surprised spam isn't recognised. Is it considered a brand-name or something?
Isn't it an abbrev?
yeah, i think its technically not food either
you should like it over here, its very similar in a lot of ways to Oregon
Stupid, Pointless, Annoying Meat.
Hehehe :)
but tasty if fried very crisp
that's what i hear, ata. my boyfriend loved it.
I have to go, back later. Looking forward to your mail, Ata! *hugs* For those finishing before I get back, have a great day/night/whatever. And for the rest: happy babbling ;)
see, i've been vegetarian for.... 4 years now? and what i miss most are the disgusting fake-meats
bye for now sprite
see ya sprite
bye Sprite dear!
Good morning all!
The only thing I miss is chicken strips.
hi Haz :)
It's a lovely sunny day here, though I think we had some frost through the night...
yeah, i guess i miss fried chicken most... when i'm drunk i miss hotdogs and spam tho.
frost already? wow
Morning all! There aren't possibly 286 words in there - there are exactly 133, I'm sure of it!
Anyone have a clue for the sp4,6 just above the sp*****, worn with a kilt?
prose
ummm, 134...
Morning Haz. Just a noe to say I'm not playing again today. 285 is too much for me. However I did find an icon from todays grid!
nope,definitely 137 amanda!
Add a cons to the end amander for 135
Ha! rumple has already found it
Morning Haz and Hi ExWren
rumple, is that sp4/6 the nasty word for mexicans?
Good morning ex-Wren - your sp7/32 is a very decorative one!
Good morning FMitch!
And an expensive one, priced at $285.
That was it Amandacath, thanks.
My word! I knew kilts were expensive, I didn't realise all the accoutrements could be so dear as well.
Morning all..This was a bit of a shock after two easy grids..114 and pulling hair out already
i know, jeannie. slowed to a halt at 128, myself
yw, rumple
Haz that's probably why they can't afford anything underneath.
I always say I'm not gonna start these big ones..Always do then waste the rest of the day trying to find words i've never heard of lol..True addiction
That's as logical an explanation as any, FMitch!
sounds very very familiar ...
lol
and I think this one is going to certainly take a while ...
169 to go depressing or what :)
naps
whoops sorry
i keep forgetting to change back
Thanks, hadn't got naps
Well, I better get a little bit of sleep before class tomorrow. It's been nice talking to you all.
neither had I lol ..i always concentrate on the big words and forget the little easy ones
night snpp, i
i'm off too
night
i think i'm gonna be here all day
night!
woohoo the greek god of love is back
I think I will be too ... I'm meant to be working today, but I think I'll paint and babble instead, and work tomorrow
10.00 is my deadline after that work
Fmitch - it sounds as though he's just arrived in your house.....
HaHa
I'm too tired to deal with excel today - next door neighbours have yet another new kitten - he's very cute, but he yells at our window at 3am onward every morning ...
Not quite the dawn chorus the poets talk about....
haz? is that napoleon?
oui!
He represents co5/12
nite all
Sleep well chj.
Night chj
ah :) I see! I was trying really hard to make napo in the grid turn into napoleon :P
I was wondering what he was cluing Haz, and I still am as I don't have that one yet
No, nothing so complicated!
FMItch - if you find out Napoleon's birthplace, then you're almost there.
So "Satan" doesn't exist after all!
Got it before you posted thanks Haz
and unfortunately santa doesn't either Ray
You're welcome!
Maybe they're both the same person!
I used tot hink so when he didnt bring me the presents I wanted :P
yeah would explain a few of the weird and wonderful presents i've received in the past
Oh well 10.00 has arrived so I must be off for a while. Happy Babbling.
Bye Fmitch! (she'll claim she's working but when a greek god of love has just arrived, I somehow have my doubts)
cya FMitch
byeeee!
whats the strangest present you've ever received?
see ys mitch
Ata, is your icon a clue - 'cause if it's not I'll quit wracking my brains to figure it out...
morning all, I knew it was too good to be true. Back to jumbo grids, LOL
yes it is :)
well there were the two foot high black cat shaped vases with holes in their heads for flowers..they were pretty scary looking too lol
oh. um. yes .... interesting! I remember my mother bought me a terracotta pot for putting garlic bulbs in when I'd asked for books. That was kinda strange
oh dear, jeannie! Were they at least funky, or just plain yuck?
well they were a 21st birthday present from my bother..he wanted to get me something 'unusual' lol
*brother
They were downright frightening..I've never seen cats with faces so vicious ..i had to use them for a while, but used to turn them round at night so i didnt have to lookat them lol
ah, men and presents. That explains it. I finally developed the strategy with my ex of taking him to the store and putting what I wanted into his hand and leading him to the check-out. It was the only way...
but knowing my brother..that was exactly what he expected...
Ah Husbands fine..Can always get the right thing there, perhaps it's a bit of sibling rivalry lol
Morning all. My icon is a clue for j6/36.
morning Jacula
hi jacula
oh ty so much jac - i was looking for that one just now and had no idea
is anyone having a problem clicking on the icons?
Good morning jacula!

y/w ilandrah.

Morning jac!
Hi Haz. So, FMitch is entertaining the god of love? *grins*
I'm getting a java script void message, oh well
which pic are you seeing amanda?
mines ok too
a race-car driver whose name I can't think of...
Yes - she gave her guilty secret away. None of us are jealous in the least.
must be my computer
ah ... well think of his name - thatts the word :)
no idea ted
wot class does he drive ata??
used to be in F1
I've just opened my back door to find that a phantom head shaver has been out there overnight... going by the colour of the hair it's either Paul's or my daughter's boyfriend's. As there's no grey in it (so5/14 Paul!) I'm assuming it the daughter's b'f's. 'Nice' of him to leave it strewn all over the back door ma4/4!
try right clicking ted?
that's what I figured ... dead, alive, nationality ... is he the one who crashed at Imola a couple of years ago?
didn't work, ilandrah, I'll figure it out later, thanks for the idea
alive, french
my computer is often on the fritz ted, so i have all kinds of little tricks, wen all else fails try a re-boot
was senna's great rival
true, ilandrah, didn't think of the reboot
ok, not the Argentine who crashed and burned .... right, that was Senna - alright google, here I come
Right my brain is frazzled need a break..see you all a little later..

ladies, which word are you cluing?
yup, and there's a v v similar pr6/21 as well
ata's icon ted
ohhhh, disappointment abounds - I found him, Ata, and I already had it. Entered it as one version of the German for "Cheers" - which is an alt. spelling of another word
the 6 i dont have - the 5 is v similar to the host of american survivor tho
oh nooooo at least you know who he is now :P
bye all
bye jeanniejinx
bye jeannie
ata, can you give me the first 2 letters of your clue since I can't enlarge your icon? please, pretty please? LOL

Hi Fran, did you get the kilt thingy? If not look at my icon
I would say someone who hates excuses is A4S5.
thanks exwren! *starts search anew*
got them, thanks again exwren!
the grid-theme today seems to be scottish accoutrements. We've got hats and bags, maybe there are some shoes, gloves or stockings hidden in there somewhere!
I am trying everything in sight with 'male' or 'males' behind it. I just cannot believe what takes!
Have you got the yo8 sprite - that has to be today's strangest word!

Hi, all!
Hi, all!
hi pam :)
hi pam!
Whoo Hoooo, a big grid on my vacation day, LOL
the dictionary is unreliable... it accepts the singular of the last st5/10, but won't accept a plural!
Hi Pam Hi Pam
Only, I am taking a train to CT, and the train is not wired, 8-(
Hi, marso, fran, amanda, et al!
There's a debate about the st5/10 - it isn't included in enable, but Dr-God accepts it here. The plural must be a stage too far.
hi haz :)
what st 5/10???? Inquiring minds....
Hello marso!
The cardiac device, pam
grazie, haz!!!!
prego, pam (I'm told it's the Italian for 'you're welcome')
8-)
Hi Haz, just popped back for 5 mins and saw you comments after I left - very funny :)
Yes, you thought we thought you were working......
marso, you're in the grid!
So is pam, the plural version.
I was and then I went to Tescos, they have a special offer on greek gods today buy 1 get 1 free, do you want one?
lol
Do you still get clubcard points with one?
lol!
fmitch ar they all muscular an tanned???
Triple Haz, marso dif varieties
ill take 4 then lol
Triple points - and buy one, get one free? They can't be from the Tesco finest range in that case.
i don't think dionysus would be very svelte
why isn't spam--not as in the meat, but as in the junk mail--accepted? grrrrr
But pam, shift the s to the end of the word, and bob's your uncle and there you are, twice
lolololololol
oh, I don't know, Fran. I was going to say send him (or Bacchus) over, I haven't been to a good party in a while!
nor have i amanda!
oops almost tyled in the wrong box, found amandas fish that won't eat fat. good clue amanda.

Good morning Babblers. After having a few small grids now we're up to 286.
Too busy entertaining the god of love, so I hear, FMitch! LOL.
good morning Scrabbler
I have a full day ahead... I should be cleaning, but this is my only chance to play
hi scrabbler
Good morning, Scrabbler.
hi scrabbler
LOL Jacs - Haz has a lot to answer for
How specific are you specificity?
very =)
How is Joey doing, Jacula?
drives my husband crazy
LOL :)
He's fine thanks, Scrabbler.
I am also quite specific
Somebody has a birthday today.
who?
More specifically---me. Getting farther away from 40 and closer to 50.
Happy Birthday!
happy b'day!
Happy Birthday
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Happy Birthday, Scrabbler!
Happy Birthday Scrabbler I will be joining you with the same age on the 17th of this month
TY. Remember when you were a kid and being in your 40's or beyond seemed really old? I don't feel so old.
hehe
andree
tisue
nevermind 40's - back then 30's seemed old
hi golf
FMitch---1959 was s good year, huh?
I turned 30 this year... my 7 year old said "Don't worry Mum. you don't look a day over 29."
Happy Birthday! :-)
how old r u
:( - you're both 2 years' younger than me...
It was indeed scrabbler
rose
I am staring down the barrel of 50. *wipes tear from eye*
30 was tough--saying good bye to "youth". But my 30's were good and the 40's are even better.
wrong box golf
i have been 22 for about 10 years
lol, marso
Good idea marso.:)
howdy pepps
I can't pass for 22 any more
Good plan Marso--celebrating anniveraries of a birthday.
hello, dude
I have been 22 for 40 years!!!
my youngest used to argue with everyone that i was 22,,,until he heard me on the phone!!!!
hi babble
I wouldn't want to be in my 20's again, except physically.
Ditto, Scrabbler.
Tritto.
4to
Inge2 - LOL, like it!
Jacula, you're the same age as me. S'not so bad, right?
are you having a cake, Scrabbler? (that's my favorite thing about b'days, still!)
Inge - Not too bad. Wouldn't mind the energy (& figure) I had at 25 though...
Inge-your icon is one of my favorite creatures. I've been seeing them in the garden lately and each time they make me stop in total wonder that nature can create something so beautiful, so delicate
I started to finally feel like a "grown-up" just a few years ago, and that is when life settled down a bit. Less uncertainty, less worryong about what everyone else thinks. More able to truly enjoy life.
It's all about wisdom and good judgement now.
I love those salamanders too.
Breaks out the champagne for everyone - what the heck it's Friday and Scrabblers birthday!!!
scrabbler, you have a great bday.
I've got youguys beat by about 8 years. I wish I had the fit body I had in my twenties, with the ability to appreciate it that I have now
I was just going to go off and get on with chores, but if there's champers....
I look at age/aging... this way: It means I've been smart enough (or stubborn enough or mean enough) to "Survivor" the competition
We had a cake at the office yesterday, and today I will meet up with my family at dinner time. As for champagne--I am not a drinker, but maybe I'll have some bottled water.
I think I'm actually fitter than I was in my 20s
Seeing as one of my 'Net friends' died at only 47 last week (it was her funeral yesterday) I think we should all make the most of every day life brings.
I don't mind getting older... =) I'm enjoying this period... my kids are at fun ages
Unfortunately, life today is bringing me washing, ironing, hutch cleaning.... although I could go and plant my Spring bulbs...
Sad, Jacula! Yes, we can't expect that we will live into our 80's or beyond. We need to be grateful for health and enjoy life now, everyday.
Spring bulbs! Now that's a good thought
How old are your kids, specificity?
9, 7, and 4
Oh, there's another chore--springbulbs and digging up/moving the perennials.
my step daughters are 10, 8, and 6
I saw a tip in a magazine about keeping slugs off your bulbs - you cut strips of plastic bottle up with pinking shears (or something to make zig-zag edges). I know copper tape/wire works but I don't have any of that.
I should plant some bulbs this year...
Those ARE fun ages. Enjoy them. Whoa--6 kids altogether? Adolescence will be a nightmare. Lock them up.
286 words!!!! I do have to pretend to work!!
I've been so busy planning the layout for the raised bed herb gardens... I hadn't thought about flowers
I'm planting them in pots in the greenhouse and will give each pot a zig-zag collar. I'll let you know if it works. (Won't stop the mice though.)
hey ppl i have a problem!!!!!
what is the collar for Jacula?
Oh, marso, are you playing babble? Do you need a clue?
What's up marso?
what's the problem, marso?
how come santa isn't a word!!
Inge - Like I said, the collar is supposed to put slugs & snails off.
any clues for the co 8 's?? please..

Hi Metal excllent clue - Hello Everyone :)
clue for so7/32 please
thanks Faerie, how are you this morning?
You son cannot handle this, marso. Those people are nuts and must be avoided.
hi faerie
Is there someone out there with experience in growing cantaloupes (muskmelon)? When I left the house yesterday morning the leaves were fine. When I cam home they were all withered. There was no frost. Everything else in the garden is fine and no sign of disease. I have some ripe melons already, but was hoping for more. Is this just the natural timing/life cycle for melons? Never grew them before
Hi faerie.
OK, Babblers, I have to get to my tennis match. Have a great day. I will return later.
bye!
Metal I'm doing great....wish we could have had this grid yesterday since I have to work today though. LOL

Hi stid!!
we took a little trip over to starbucks -- the boss MADE me go! ;)
i didn't know starbucks had those - i'm definitely getting one of those asap
yes, theyve got it listed under the hot drinks -- but all the mocha-type beverages you can get iced. :)
i tried an iced vanilla latte from mcdonalds this am - don't bother. maybe they're good hot but the iced one leaves something to be desired and I am addicted to iced coffee!!
enanadine can you plz help me out
Hoo boy .. Not short and not sweet today ..
in this day and age cipro should be in the dictionary
bethany -- my one complaint about the ones i get from starbucks...i dunno if its just bubbles of if theres something powdery or grainy in there, but sometimes i feel stuff on my tongue when i get the iced one

what am i missing?
hey cait...we're heading your way on sat
pa8
Where are you gong to rolin?
hello everyone
down to cardiff to spend some time with my patners mum
Hi mrpresident
okay, Tom's out the door and I am jumpting in.
hallo mr prez
hey mrp
ty, we'll find out how well today after I start a nailin'! Trying my luck with gardening too, still can't figure the difference between peat and mulch...
Hi MrP! :-)
yay stid!
time to play!! very late here, but going to go for it!!
Peat goes IN the soil to add acidity and "loft" -- mulch goes ON the soil to keep down weeds and hold in moisture.
Hi mrp!
hello Mr.P
hey stid
Hi stid!! I dont go to Cardiff much rolin but have fun
hi rolin!
hi stidmama!
you can do it mr pres!
hi rae, rolin, stidmama, annie metal et al!!
Ooh, Stid, TY! So..um (stupid question), does potting soil already have peat in it?
it is saturday morning!! good lord... later than I thought!
LOL MrP!
not a stupid question at all! read the label on the potting soil. It should tell you everything that went into it. A good potting soil is generally neutral pH or slightly acid. It should feel slightly damp coming out of the bag, but still fall apart fairly easily.
mrp..isnt 3am there??
oh -- and some potting soils use peat moss, others use "cocoa peat" which is more environmentally friendly.
coming onto 1am rolin
oh yeah...maths has never been a strong point with me
mrpresident you must be tired!
Thanks, maybe a can get a few plants to live. I'm starting off easy, Crepe Myrtle, Rose of Sharon, Roses... I'll do some good landscaping next year after I get the retainer walls built.
rolin used a word ..
i did???
I read that coco peat is really dangerous for dogs, stid
ooops..so i did...lol..s5
my agility club sent an email around about dogs eating coco peat and dying!
peat of any kind can be a breathing irritant in house plants
m4/6s
what is coco peat?
As long as it's ok with the cats, I am not a dog person. Oh, and the kids. The twins still eat dirt and grasshoppers.
which, if you put peat in houseplants, it can make them get mossy, not a great indoor thing
what is an agility club??
peat made with cocoa tree bark I think
agility is a dog sport where they jump over things and run through shutes
ah!
if peat is in houseplants, will it sometimes form a white , mold-like layer on top of the soil?
and go on teeter-totters! it's so much fun
Crepe Myrtle is a small tree, Rose of Sharon is related to Hisbiscus but is a much airier (and smaller)shrub. Have the people at the nursery show you where the plants start to swell just above the roots -- that needs to be kept just above the soil line... and all new plants, even trees, need regular DEEP watering the first year -- don't let them dry out.
i think it tends to form green molds
Have I mentioned I'm easily confused.... I'll just stick with miracle grow.
I have a rose of sharon...it's beautiful! blooming like crazy right now too
I haven't heard that about coco peat, but I always have it as part of the mix -- my dogs don't tend to eat dirt!
interesting...
apparently they can smell the cocoa in the peat...
my dog is perfect... she doesn't do doggy things... oops... must be a cat
TY, for the advice Stid, I'll know where to beg for help come spring!
mold can form on and in ANY soil (actually some needs to, it helps break the soil down for the plant to use it).
whoa, i think i fell asleep there for a minute...heh
LOL mrpresident
i thought you put the lime with the coco nut and shake it all up
Stid, I dont have a backyard (live in an apartment) but I have a terrace, would a Rose of Sharon do well in a large pot on a sort of windy terrace????
And I apologize for the confusion. Cocoa hulls as mulch are different from coco peat -- which is the fibers off coconut husks.
morning all -- all this garden advice is great. anyone know how to gegt rid of bittersweet vine?
raelite, i have a rose of sharon blooming too, but i really dont know anything much about them
the dog... on the other hand... eats poo
lol
Morning aknitter
lol dl88
stid -- holy crap, i just read your profile...i had no idea about mtnjock
I don't know much about it either, wyrd, but I keep it well watered and give it fertilizer every 2 weeks in the summer and it seems to love life
Hi aknitter. lol mr p!
hi knitter
clue for pa8?
{{{{STid}}}}
some evil bird dropped bittersweet berries in to my garden and now the vine has taken over
Hi FMitch
Annie, I think you want something a little more wind-resistant and cold-tolerant, unless you have a place to bring it inside for winters. There is a lovely plant called "abutilon" with similar foliage and beautiful dangly flowers that does well in pots and would be relatively easy to keep alive (or treat as an annual and get new ones in the spring)
{{{daisy}}}
Hey caitlyn
pa 8 is an outfit from the 80's thank god they are out of style
the T's are tricky!! (and that better not be a word)!!
evanadine, there is a little more about his passing at BabAnon under "Meet and Greet" -- there will be a memorial in Memphis this Sunday.
Great icon clue FMitch
Stidmama, thank you for your advice, I will get an abutilon nexy year and try it on the terrace. I have a garden out there and it is so pretty and restful. I didnt think a Rose of Sharon would go but had to ask.
Thanks caitlyn
oh -- and I think miracle grow is a fine way to get into gardening. As your confidence improves you can think about some of the other ways to feed your plants. I highly recommend the "Organic Gardening" website and magazine for new gardeners...
thanks akintter, i had one and at the time thought it was ace. i was young and foolish...
lol we couldn't wear pa8's at school til I was in 7th or 8th grade...showing my age :)
oh my gosh mrpresident you changed your icon!
thanks stid. so srry to hear about it...
seems like half the grid is S
"spam" was not found in the dictionary! You've got to be kidding me!
me too. poor scoutsmom, she is the one who told us.
...neither is mens though
I'll look into the site, I definately need the help. My grandma and mother have been helping me along. Some of it is common sense, I'm having more trouble knowing what I can plant together, and what amounts of sun and shade to put them in. I just drive around and scope out what is doing well in other yards.
i can remember being taken to the races for the first time...when i was 14...and my mum bought me a very stylish bright green pa8
I like your icon raelite
thank you
and what you wrote in your bio
bunny, your last sentence is the KEY to easy gardening! Look at what seems to do well locally (everyone will be growing it!) and ask the local nurseries for advice because they know the climate and soils. And don't be afraid to experiment. DO consider the mature size of plants though... it's easy to plant way too much too close together otherwise (from one who knows... *grin*)
today is crikey! khaki firday by the way, in memoriam for this <-- guy
A green palamino?
haz...it was the horse races
LOL Haz! Hi all. I'm back again for a short while.
I think that is just so horrible I loved him to death
wb jac!
I've got a numb thumb from cutting up plastic yoghurt cartons for plant labels.
hi Jacula and Haz!
hi Haz! wb, Jac
I loved him too...he seemed so approchable and firendly, like he'd even wave and say hi to me if he saw me
Hi Jacula
I know, rolin, I'm just being silly!
WOW
raelite-How nice-I think he would get a good laugh about everybody wearing khaki today!
rae -- he probably would have (he was a risk-taker, remember?) LOL
HA!! LOL
LOL stid
Good afternoon/morning all. Are we enjoying the grid?
I'm wearing my khaki shorts today
I have my safari pygamas on!
Hi Haz yes thanks are you?
I'm wearing khaki trousers, just by coincidence.
yay!
Think I'm gonna lay down for a bit, back to finish later. Thanks for the help Stid.
yw bunny, see you later. :-)
I thought it was quite interesting - it seems I'm being blamed for it being long. I don't know why!
but as sad as I am, once I thought about it, my other reality tv star is still alive and kicking...as long as he doesn't leave me I'll be ok
Bye bunny great to see you again
'Bye, 'bye bunny.
even though I miss steve-o
Haz, this is all your fault...so many s'sssss so little time
who is that rae?
oh, the greatest! Dog the Bounty hunter!!!
I was reluctant to replace The Crococdile Man with je6 today, but it's icon clue day...
he hunts a different kind of crocodile!
I just fear for the next aussie to go... things happen in threes and I am so scared about who it might be
oh yes yes
What did I do? What did I do? Not even the slightest hint did I give to Dr-God about long grids or sssssss's. Has Torgone been telling tales?
Just kidding Haz.........yes, I think he has
If it was Germaine Greer, mrpresident?
who else died mrp? apart from Steve?
Dog is just as "larger-than-life" as steve...and his show is so good.
lol @ haz
i think there has already been 3 mrp
It has beena terrible week for Australia and the world
who else shorty?? steve irwin, peter brock....

hi chj!
Woo hoo! Halfway . .
Hi Chj!
chj
Hi chj.
jac..is your icon a clue?
hi TO, abe, imj
Fireworks! My last word WAS a plural (st7).
chj - yes. It's je6.
yay jac
aha...good one jac
yay Jac!
Got to go: the oven's bleeping, the washing machine's done and I've about a million bulbs to plant. Happy Babbling all!
yay Jacula
bye jacs! bye all! going to lunchtime yoga - and hoping for enlightenment on sp7/8!
bye to -- LOL!
sp7/8 is a Scottish pouch and its plural
wow
yo 5/16 please x
got it x
m3- yo + forget it, it's no ***
am7/32 and as4/5 any clues please
am 7- sounds like an illness that afflicts the elderly, similar to alzheimers
I just had a lucid moment... and realized that one of the things that annoys Tom most about our Lucky is inherent in the breed.
what is that 'thing', Stid?
He's a german SHEPHERD dog. *duh* so when we wants us somewhere he comes right in next to us and pushes on our legs! *facepalm*
Hey Guys! I am back for some more words. need clue for 1st en words pls
It annoys Tom no end, but it's what the dog DOES! LOL now I understand what's going on, perhaps I can figure out a way to explain it to BOTH of them so they can get along!
hi phandmd!
Hi Stid!
ty abe79 got the am7/32-any clues to as4/5
that would be 1st 2 en words I need clues for
not far enough along to help phand, not listed yet.
as 4/5 is something to do with computers
darn
I think the as 4/5 is a language
Stid- my SIL has a german shepherd and he loves to get next to people, but he's so big that he often pushes too hard. he doesn't mean it, like you said, it's in the breed
hellokeydoo everyone
ty got it
i call him the lumox (sp?). Hi Hurshy
yw
{{{hurshy}}} how is school going so far? are you about a month in?
the computer language has 2 i's, but, it does help for cluing
lol, stidmama, no, kids arrived yesterday and classes start monday
an5,10?
lummox i think abe
yes, abe, that's been the concern. I think I can use it to everyone's advantage now that I know what's motivating him. Thanks for confirming my hunch!
both are plurals, beth
oh! you start late for an east-coast school!
does anyone have the ar4?
*guffaws at rolin*
you bet your ar** I do
rolin, what are you sitting on?
:D
*giggle*
private school, stid. but also, i went to public school on the east coast and we started around now too.
ah lummox...thanks! those german shepherds can be a little ditzy, but they are oh so loyal!
o poo...i didnt look up.......thats not to say i have my head up me a4....lol
now, may i have some clues? i need si7 and the sp7/8 combo.
oh -- in Virginia (thirty years ago) we started middle of August -- always a week or so b!efore labor day
thanks
si 7- continuation of si 4/5
hurshy...sp7/8 is the scotsman purse
i am supposed to know what scotsman carry their money in? (and where do they put it? do kilts have pockets?)
yes, he loves me, and he tolerates the others *smile* actually I think he is almost as protective of them as he is of me. But not to the point of being mean to others -- as soon as I hug someone, he seems to understand they're "mine" and he is to play nice.
scotsmen wear a little pouch in front of their "parts" outside the kilt. It's usually fur-covered.
you know...sp+alternative+fast walk past tense
my SIL has a 7 month old girl, and Jake is great around her as well
i have got it, and now i have learnt my new thing for the day
but am at a bit of a loss as to how exactly to continue my si4/5
it features prominently on scott's porage oats packets :P
hey ata! i don't think we have those here.
Think of the si 7 as a command for chickens to stay on their perches
ah, great clue Haz
aha, haz to the rescue again! ty.
Glad to be of enlightenment!
so many end like that today, i should have figured.
good one,haz
am not ignoring you on AIM, Hurshy, its just been such a pain in the a*** all day signing me in adn out that I've killed it for a while
and now, back to sudoku
thanks for that, Haz!
You're welcome stidmama!
later hurshy!
bye Hurshy
ok, 'sok ata
I just looked at who's online -- 233 players right now! *expression of awe*
can anyone clue me for the en7
sorry chj, don't have that
en7/28 - ends rather like Disney's film featuring dancing elephants
wow Haz, how do you come up with these clues? that was beautiful!
Or, for a more geographical clue, ends in a continent
thanls haz
what about the en 5/12?
Stid - I don't know, I just see the words and the clues come!
isn't that "to follow logically after", phand? EN + to bring a legal case
en5/12 - add a woman's name and the word will follow
pa6/24 right after the pa8
pa6/24 - add the first four letters of a word meaning to awaken or stir
haz since you are en - tuned to the en's how about the other en 5 please
The other en5/10 - en plus Spanish aunt.
thanks again haz
en + Spanish aunt
You're welcome, chj.
still not getting the en 5/12 though...
another word i should tattoo on my forhead that i always miss ty
ar6,21 ar7,32?
phandmad - the woman's name in question was sung about by Buddy Holly - Peggy ***
just monkeyed my last word
phan en + a boy name *** old johnny cash song
OK, where is that fish?
And Johnny Cash -- A Boy Named ***
Thnx Haz
ar6/21 - to awaken, and ar7 the one who does the awakening
hurray for chj!!
*slides eel toward phandmd*
Well done chj!
ar 6 to pique one's interest
okay, gotta go do kitchen stuff again. See you later!
thanks for the help haz
YAY chj!

Glad to help - your turn to clue now, chj!

may be nice but I Don't Get It LOL
don't get the gray hair atlante? or the clue
It's a nice French word for a cassock.
the lighter thingy
35 left ... time for a break
if gray hair were oil reserves, i could solve the worlds energy problems
It's bu****, Atalante.
lol chj, can i fill my tank? almost on E
oh! thanks Haz! I would never have realised that was a lighter fuel!
be back soon...
later, abe
Is it the sort of gas they use for hair tongs and things?
gotta ask ... hair tongs???
Yes - before the whole straightening hair craze, did girls not have gas powered curlers? The gas came in little cylinder things.
hens
Haz, nope, they use it in science labs. :) popping in for some words between showers and lunch
sorry,
10 lashes with a wet noodle, bubba
Thanks, klaurel. I'm useless at science things!
hair tongs ... love that, sounds rather funny and creates a great picture in my otherwise empty head
just starting and the owrd list was accepting anything, then just as I was about to mention it, it starte working, and the cursor was in the wrong place
well typed with correct spelling, my strong area
hi again all - back for just a bit of babbling...
morning wolvie
Well, the ironing is waiting to be done. All the best with the grid!

ah! LOL - that does make me feel better.
wolvie, I like your icon, what is that
thank you
and I had a pool at home, one of those 3ft blow ups! :)
NIce big puzzle today, should keep me busy a while
unfortunately, not as much time to work on the puzzle today
ha! I had one at my house in WV (the full size inground type), but not here - I am property shopping so we can build
lady, per fridays - it is word from the grid. :-)
ahhh
the sp 7 & 8, to be exact
I caught that, thanks
i thought the sp 7 and 8 were the scottish purse. did i miss something?
nope. :-) this is a pretty purse
now i am really confused wolvie you look like a bridge
ah - refresh ak - you will see the difference. :-)
the bridge was yesterday - I was bad and didn't change my icon until this morning
when i click on your icon for a close up i still see a bridge the weenie version on the chat looks different
oh. well - no idea how to fix that - on my screen they are one and the same.
very odd
Why isn't *rasta* a word?
he6?
ooooh, I want to put in an inground, but hubby won'[t let me
100 to go! woot!
see - this is why I didn't marry - well, one of the issues. I like my own way. A lot. :-)
go ata!
and why isnt "hemastat" a word?
lots of words that aren't "words"
cos its hemostat isn't it?
lady - there are many that "aren't" today - frustrating, I agree
depends on the manufacturer
wolvie used a word . . .
makes more sense as hemo- / haemo- I would think cos that's the normal word root
rats. so*** guys.
geez - did it again! LOL
=o
Thats true Ata
ha! torgone - we think alike, I see
Great minds . .
co8's please
co a are both army medics single and plural
Medic!
hubby says it is HEMO. :) He is a Med Tech. :)
LOL
that was for tor, although i give a chuckle to kl. :-)
Maybe its a brand name, ours were labelled Hemastat (TR)
sounds like a trade name maybe
Thanks, should have known that since I was in the army medical corps
gasp!! another word
Hey, I'm a nurse and I can't keep up with all the changes
so5,14 again
(tr) sounds like a trade name ...they probably couldnt register the "proper" spelling
Most likely Ata
word, bubba!
glad I'm not the only one
***my head is bowed in shame ****
if someone would "accidently" enter a few words that i NEED i'd be grateful and wouldn't tell

Two words, in one sentence, even
torgone!!!! i said one i didn't have

there are 121 possibilities
I'm an imp . .

santa's imp or satan's imp?
Yes, you are Torg, lol

Depends on whether it's before or after lunch . .
tor - what knitter says... next time, do 4 we don't have!!

omg AGAIN with the boob word!
Like the state with a different last letter.
ty broll
ty broll
babble is a breast man. nice handbag torgone
yw
apparaently, ramen isnt a word either
I'm kind of surprised that a racial epithet is a word today.
huh?
s 4/6
havnt got that one David
david - unfortunately, those are regular here - (hard to find a way to make this sentence without using a word)
I must be blind or naive, I'm not seeing it
the s word is not only a racial epithet, maybe that's the reason its in the grid
oh, I see it ---- huh, seems odd
I can't find it either. what is the second letter please?
david - also means completely neat and clean as in ____ and sp__
hi stid!
oh i see it now, its sp**
oh! I never thought of it a a racial word. Have never heard it used...
hi wolvie!
afternoon everyone.
Fireworks!
unfortunately, there are words like that here, it's was used a lot in new york many years ago

Vic, clue that word please
thanks for the word Vi, now have a mere 157 remaining!
It's the ey4/6, the reddish brown phase of the jaguarundi.
Nan -- the EN 7 ends like the Disney movie with dancing mushrooms...
thanks, stid
it sounds pretty, but it means "Tonic spasm; -- applied generically to denote any disease characterized by tonic spasms, as tetanus, trismus, etc."
dancing mushrooms?
(My plural is there, too.)
haven't watched a Disney movie for a looooooooooong time, stidmama
mickey with the brooms, lady

Sleeping Beauty is Disney to tshaikowsky, but this movie is nothing but classical music with animated scenes, including "the Sorcerer's Apprentice."
thanks, wolvie and stid
yah - mickey and brooms. :-)
But the dancing mushrooms are from "The Nutcracker"... ;-)
Did Disney do a "Nutcracker"????
hello again!
nooo - they are in this one too - with the faeries.
hi abe!!
no, it's part of the movie that clues the EN 7
is anyone else getting confuseder by the explanations? LOL
Oh, right.
hi Wolvie!
wb, abe
thanks Annie
If Stidmama's confuseder, who's confusedest?
that would be me. :-)

Of course, the cat won
ohhh - you must be alpha kitty, krys - trust me. :-)

proper noun.
k thanks
Krys, poor thing, hope all turns out well...
oh man, krys - so*** to hear that. Mine little china boy just had 3 grand worth of surgery, but no on going treament needed, TG
click on "help" in the upper right hand corner to get more info about what words are allowed and not allowed.
but hobbs, there is a UT 4 that just has a differnt last letter.
yeah, we dropped $3K on vet bills in July when she had to be hospitalized twice. She's doing much better now, and of course, now that she needs daily care and it's expensive, I figure she'll live years longer :)
yeah, well, proper nouns are a crap shoot here- not very consistent. :-)
and the other source for good help on this game is Angelsong's Resource pages -- link at the bottom of this page.
hobbs, if you haven't, click on the link to AngelSong's babble resource page for lots of great info.
hope your china boy is doing better.

another ha 5/12 : A medieval merchant guild or trade association.
vi: good point
yw
1st ha5/12: medieval trading league of northern Europe, ha6/21 plural ; 2nd ha5/12 same as 1st, but change last vowel. ha4/5:
not familiar with the trading guild one
didn't it used to be called a ha5 league?
lady, think of children's fairy tale author Ha** Christian Andersen and add a vowel
ha5-atic League
well - the guild can be spelled 2 ways - two different vowel endings....

ra7/32: ra*** noodles + cross + 1st vowel
bye ladyN
thanks inge2.

Thanks, Inge, never heard of that word
bye lady
bye lady
there's no ap7
I don't think there are any ap words, charm
i have no ap 7/8
ok, thanks, misread the chat.
hi, Unea
I'm done with the a's and there is no ap word
nooo, TO said ap 7/8 - the little devil. :-)
cute icon, une!
Une, is your icon a clue? I got all excited that "parasol" was in the grid.
nah, just a fun animation . . .
thanks, jillibus!
Oh, I can never see the animations on my computer. :(
uh oh.....good thing i haven't logged off- it's spt/8 - tor if you're here show yourself and your sp7 scottish manpurse
My turn to beg: ou6/21, 3rd pa5/12, 1st ra6/21, and/or ta6/18 and ta5/10 (after to sense with the tongue), please?
hi again, une
hey, wolvie!
ou6: not in + not standing
'manpurse' lol
inge 2 - the ta's you are after are like steak Tat**, just not the normal spelling
ta + sticky substance, then plural
great clue, une
hello
hi harp
hi jane!
harp: great clue!
hi again harpjane
Hello again, harpjane.
hi harp
ch, what is your icon?
Any clues for the pa8/50 or the sa8/50? HELPHELPHELP
pa8/50 - matching outfit that doesn't have a skirt
hello
wolive: are you sp7/8 today?
sa9 adj form of sa5/12
great clue, vicuna, thanks!
pa 8 - extend a pa 5/12 to make a complete outfit
sa8, sorry
TO - it's a si4/5 lord from Star Trek (hurshy check)
une used a word, une used a wooooord
yep - along with many others, I see, TO ;-0
thanks for that sa8, unea!
NOOOOOO, Torgone, not Star Trek!!!! Star WARS!
I'm an imp . .
ooooppppssss
I wuz gonna say. whaaaaa - bad torgone!
i'm still stuck on the manpurse :-(
thanks, Vicuna for correcting him ....
Just Kidding - Seeing if my dear hurshy was about .. but you guys played . .
Hopefully my icon will help folks remember, Star WARS :D
bbl = 64 to go. have to make pound cake and cheesecake for weekend visitors. keep those clues warm for me!
oh forgive me, deb, but that made me chuckle...
bye charm
but a loveable one....
Well, we can't let that sort of ignorance stand unchecked.
Hmm., I have the raw steak ones. Maybe it's the very last ta5/10 and ta6/18 I"m missing.
Is there more than one sa5/12?
"hairy manpurse" ?? oh yes, the thing that guys like to wear hanging down with their skirts -- I mean, kilts ... :D
nope, just one
:)
I have one other ta set, but it comes before the flavor ta, inge 2 - do you have those?
raw steak, what did I miss?
hi all
hi nrk, and hi again lady
hi nrkii
Hiya Nrk
Hello, nrkii.
hi nrkii
thanks for the pa8
hiya hilli
Any ideas for the sa8?
extend your sa5/12
flavor TA's? what ?
any ideas for the sa 5/12 (hehe)
sa + able to absorb water
it will mean 'like 5/12'
sa + not rich - vowel
sa8: the sticky stuff that runs from trees + if you don't use deodorant you could become od*****
like the va word for mist, debb, only use an s
like the word for fumes singular only with an s
aaah !!! gotcha - thanks!!
great minds, wolvie, great minds
ooo, ty, bubba. i finally got it. whew.
plural, indeed. :-)
yw
Wolvie, I think I'm looking for the ta5/ ta/6 set before the flavor, thanks.
the clues are flying so fast I cant keep u
up
whats the ta flavor clue?
(after the plural of the sticky road stuff)
lady, what you do with your tongue
oh duh
inge, black goop on road + spanish yes
then add a vowel
Well aren't you a great cluer Bubba? Is that a correct word? CLUER?
ta 5 - is ... usually you would see in before this ta word, in wood inlay applications, inge2
well crud - nrk did it better. ;-)
I've been called worse
then plural, inge 2
*hugs nrkii and wolvie* yay!
inge2, done?
it's a babble term, anyway mkl. I'm sure of it.
Ok, one more. Ho about the yo7?
to make less old, mkl
to make younger, mkl
That's the stupidest word I've seen in a while... and with enable, that's saying a lot!
3 to go: ou6/21, pa5/12 (after the bullfight maneuver), and 1st ra6/21
first co 5/14?
co*** of engineers
ou 6 = not in + not stand
the ou was clued as not in plus not standing -
co5/14 like the poisonous, hooded snake, but change the b to another consonant
that's the second one, une - there is one before that
exactly -- that's where I saw it :D
thanks, inge!
tx, Wolvie, missed it, but got it now...
I want copse, but I can't have it. :-)
LOL ch - that was for mkl
Must be stupid. Can't see how to make it younger
And I want corrosion.
thanks inge!
Is there a clue floating around for the sp6/7 combo that follows the fighting? (Not the veggies, I have that)
evening all, can anyone help with ta5/6 the last one
yeah - I tried that to. :-)
ta + sticky substance then plural
inge2, do you have p + horse's a***?
mkl, sounds like when you kill someone "to put them out of their misery"
How about the he6 and he7?
oggy, don't have all the ta's yet - are you looking for the pair right after the flavor ta?
mkl, try in my yo*** plus chickens
sp6 - not thick, like thin hair, perhaps, comparative for the sp7
ch,. I think the sp's you're missing are lither and lithest
oggy, raw, as in steak
wolvie yes, just to finish the t,s
thanks, krys!
The sps I'm missing are the 6/7 combo that immediately follow plural fighting and immediately precede the place we looovvveee to go soak and be pampered
Anyone have any hints for the HE6 and HE78?
oggy - okay - if I read you right, you need this clue - think of steak tat** - and alternate spelling, really, and then it's plural
HE78? sounds an impressive word!! :P
ch1212, see 1:55 clue. also, few and far between
ch1212, thin, few and far between
don't have those yet, lady
got them --- thanks, vicuna !
thanks nrkii and wolvie and anyone else that helped i got them
(Ha, nrkii!)
:)
sorry, HE6 and HE7, I mean
I am missing one S5 from the bottom S....I have, from that S, SA5/10 x2, SP5/12 x4...can anybody help with the last 5-letter S????
Hello, Atalante.
lady, like a paid murderer, but change the first vowel
Thanks for the clues Ch1212. That did it for me.
leef, do you have the old fashioned shoes? sp*** or another words for squabbles?
thanks for that, nrk

How about the je6?
flotsam and je****
can anybody help with the S5 on the bottom S?
lady, a fast airplane + uncle ***
oh, duh, again
I was looking for ***set
Are all the c's co's, please?
yes, vicuna, they are
yes. vic - which do you need?
Thanks, leef.
leef, there are 3 sp5s... the plural of distance between, the plural of what boxers do in practise, and the words that describes old fashioned men's shoes (or another word for having a little fight)
There's also my icon, which is an sp5 and its pl.
I have all 4 sp's, as well as the 2 SA's...need one more
sorry just saw that other sp set :(
st5 - like a rock with a diff middle vowel
I bet you are missing that nasty sn5/12
It means the shaft or handle of a scythe
(That sn5 cane be lengthened into an sn6, too.)
As I just discovered, vi!
Did that first ra7/32 ever get clued? There were many asking for it earlier and I can't find a clue
help with so 7 please?
ra*** noodles + short for thanks or bye

oh chic, same icon and I didn't even notice!!!
nrkii it's 'yo' backwards!

chj, just about to change, cuz chic has same one
thank you
thanx!
that's seven straight against the other three teams that may be in the playoffs...the padres, the phillies and the dodgers
Well done, leef!
oh...i know how you girls are when you get to the party and two of you have the same dress
oh nrkii, don't go changin' for me
i know - pretty great chj! it's really exciting
there is another version of that picture i believe...van gogh did more than one
people were watching football in my office yesterday and kept saying - how can you still watch the mets - it's boring they're so far ahead - i said - let them get even more ahead - it's exciting!
changed
i think they want to hammer the dodgers to get a psychological edge in case they meet in the playoofs
right...when its your team, its exciting
*sigh* i just checked the standings... the red sox have disappointed me, for yet another season...
pa8
yes
i totally agree!
sorry krys - i'd rather they be way on top of the yankees too!
hey now
beaurocracy...i got a speeding ticket on the henry hudson in february and plead not guilty..was supposed to have a hearing on monday...just got a notice its been rescheduled to february...a whole yesr after the ticket...bah
I'm just sittin' here minding my own business
Gail, Are you there?
Hi all, LOL nrkii & chic, I was just about to enter a message when I noticed we all had the same good idea for the icon. I have just 91 words and it's 8.20pm here, could be another long night1
hi snowy
if you can't get out of the ticket, at least you won't have to pay as much higher insurance since it's only for a certain number of years after the incident
ou6 anyone?
hi snowyowl
now we're all unique
ou6, not in + what you do to have a lap
shmooz, to stay in a chair longer than everyone else
hi shmooz
Did anyone clue the ma5 I was looking for?
ty nrkii
I missed it
hey wolvie
it was a bogus ticket...theres a stretch of about 2 miles where they reduce the speed limit to an unreasonably low 35 mph...the cop said i was doing 72....no friggin way was i doing 72...55 tops
one 5/12 was ma *** - one who walks thru a labrynth, say
the other ma 5/12 right with that, I don't have
and a few weeks later i went back over the same stretch at 35 and nearly caused a big pileup what with the other cars whizzing by
chj, I got a ticket like that... went to court... all they wanted was my money
stinkers
sorry to hear that, chj, NY cops have always favored CT license plates for giving tickets
i dont mind the money as much as the bad mark on my driving record
bad news, chj - hope it works out
they took away all the points and reduced the fine from $270 to $100
this was in PA, but same deal everywhere
I bought a book called How to Fight a Ticket and Win or something like that -- I was so mad
Fireworks at last
yay inge
im sure it will be bargained down to a simple sp[eeding violation of around 10 to 15 mph over the limit
yay inge
congrats inge!!
YAY Inge!!!
congrats inge!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this isnt my first bogus ticket in nyc
chj - I guess you need a good lawyer - lol
Hooray inge!!1
im representing myself...i guess i have a fool for a client
just a silly question, does anyone else find it more difficult to decipher picture clues than verbal clues??
rubbish, chi. :-)
LOL,chj!
I like them, inge
congrats inge!! that sucks chj -
anyone help with the first ti6/18
inge - I guess it depends on the picture and the writeup in the profile, if any
ti + not loony

sing & pl.
congrats seano!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hee - just fooling with ya
back from Costco; Has anyone gotten the 1st or 4 yet?
Yes Phan - gold is an or*

mineral or** like gems
now why didn't I see that R? I kept looking at the pair... Thnx
Oh, and where is that fish?
Sing, torg?
en 7 please?
ladynoire the second or4 is how a cockney would pronounce horror
la la la singing?
Oh creepy -as I typed coincidence dear Hercule was saying ' and the coincidence is.........

I meant the singular & plural of the character in seano's pic - Roger ra6/36
still looking for the ra 7/32?
seano...give me a hint on your icon...dont recognize that superhero
male sheep flies, chj
ah torg just gave it to me

chj - did you get the ti6?

i clued it not too long ago jilli
go go go
GOOOOO NRKII!!!!!!!
ok - missed that. I clued it too (a borrowed clue)
any hints for the pa6 after the pa8?
lady, like the po 6 that lets water in
pa6....like po6/24 chance first vowel
dont have either one of those
po6/24 leaky
wow, you guys are still here. :) Sitting in my hotel in an expensive formal dress, hubby took child to wedding ceremony while I wait with young child (we were pretty much told by the bride that if the child disrupts the ceremony in any way, there will be heck to pay)
sounds like a fun wedding - not!
ta 5/10 (between inlay and Ghengis Khan)?
huh, that's mean
ugh klaurel!
and the bride is my daughter's aunt
oh, thanks, got them both
bridezilla
thats a positive and fun way to start a celebration klaurel
hows it goin
gosh! you either invite kids and expect them to do kid things, or politely ask people not to bring them!
5 to go
any clue for so7 please
so I said that we will keep her out of the ceremony, and the maid of honor was like "No offense, but that is probably best since she is . . ." and I pretty much tuned her out before I punched her
my daughter is a rambunctious 3 year old (barely)
and people usually think that a little of that is cute.
Give her a bunch of candy then take her to the ceremony ..
yeah, she is what - FAMILY?
at least I always think so.
lol torgone
nah, she is asleep anyway. hubby getting a ride to church with someone else and I will drive there later
it's rude
we didn't have any young kids at our wedding, but we'd decided on that ages before and asked people *very* politely if they wouldn't mind getting a babysitter or something for that evening. you can't just ban them on the day!!
ok, my laptop is out of juice. will be back to finish later. thanks to everyone for all the good clues!
but, it was HILARIOUS, we went ot lunch with the groom and his best man (aka brother) and his family and his wife was like, oh, its okay, just sit her in the back and it will be fine when I said that I wasn;t going to the ceremony and the bride won't mind
brb
and I said, oh no, when my hubby was walking his sister down the aisle during rehearsal and daughter ran to daddy, bride said to hubby "She'd better not to that at my wedding", so, we decided to sit out, the best man's wife was like OH.
so, I got my licks in :)
since I said it in front of the groom
KL - why isnt she the flower girl?
who didn't know we wer't coming to the ceremony
fireworks!
I agree with Atalante. People need to make decisions about children beforehand. Good on you, Klaurel, for being the better person!
my husbands three year old neice was our flower girl and she was adorable
still looking....ta 5/10 (between inlay and Ghengis Khan)?
Yay Nrkii
yay nrkii
oh, lady, don;t even go there. My hubby is PISSED about that. something about how the bride's maid of honor has a daughter too and she is closer to her than to our daughter, blah, blah blah
ta5 ta*** buds
and she didn't want a lot of flower girls, etc.
that should be a good marriage with the bride having a broomstick up her butt!
yay nrk!
ta5 a sour ta*** in one's mouth
oh lord, what a nightmare KL
(but every kid we did end up having there had a *role*. either bridesmaids or page boys or baby ushers or something and everyone ended up happy!)
ta5 a ta*** of honey
:) I always said the best people in my hubby's family married in and that I got the only good one out of that bunch
Considering the bride's attitude, I think I would have skipped the wedding entirely -- won't it be interesting to see what she thinks, when she has a three year old?
I wanted to, but she is still my sis-in-law.
baby ushers? aw, they must have been adorable!
that is SO nice, Atalante.
klaurel - will the 'festivities' take up the entire weekend?
my son wasn't happy he wasn't included either.
today and then we have to do a family thing tomorrow with all the out of town people coming in. Then we are SO out of here tomorrow night
some people are just selfish KL
As a pastor, I'm gald I'm not officiating at this wedding! Nor working with the bride!
dont blame you BG
*giggles* the page boy didn't think so. he did not appreciate getting stuck into a suit all day! poor boy ... but he looked adorable!
Hi Babblers I'm back for more fun :)
<LOL> BG, its a CATHOLIC wedding. :D
you deserve a lazy sunday of pizza eating and tv watching.
thanks, chj -- never looked in that direction!
Then I DEFINITELY wouldn't be officiating! ;)
ohhh even more fun kl!
hi Faerie
abe, we gotta go to church and soccer and then the homework Stefan has from missing a day and a half of school
thanks, everyone, for letting my b**** about this a bit. Can't do it to hubby since he gets stuck in the middle then
bitch away!
but then again, his sister hated me from the first day we met. :) And we are celebrating 19 years together (date and marriage)
Hi Abe
You'd think by now she would figure out that I am not going to break his heart, <sigh>
:( that's no fair. and please, vent any time!
:)
sounds like my mom KL
okay, I have to run... see everyone later!
the bride to be needs to get a grip
bye nrkii
she nearly had a coronary when the flower girl wore black patent leather shoes instead of white ....
<LOL> his mom has finally figured out that I am not out to use him and dump him! There is a 7 year age difference between hubby and me
later Nrkii
BYE NRKII!
my step daugther was barely two and was a perfect and she was in the wedding
bride wants kids. God, I hate to see how f'ed up they will be!
my kids are hyper - but extremely smart. (and for my son, I have test scores and AT/gifted classes to back it up!)
Finally! *stumbling across the finish line*
Anyone have a hint for the pa8 ?
i'm sure it's been clued 100 times, but does anyone have sa8?
Thanks for all the help, everyone.
hobbs- that's encouraging to hear b/c i'm getting married in july and we want to have our 2 year old nephew in the wedding
yay cybernan!
CONGRATULATIONS CYBERNAN!!!!!!!!!!!1
yay, cybernan
pa 8: compound word --- ladies' outfit consisting of slacks and jacket
abe - it will be cute! :) and usually, when they have a quirk, its cute. :)
well gang, my brain is fried, I'm going home
i think it's those little quirks th4 make the day special
Just remember the kids will always be kids! I have had several weddings where the ringbearer or flower girl were 2 or 3. It works! Just be prepared!
Bye Ladynoire :)
bye, lady
bye Lady
bye, lady
my ringbearer and flower girl were like 5 when I got married
and just have lots of sweets and tissues around in case of emergencies!
po6/21 please
hi again.
**taking lots of notes**
and for my son, who was like 4, we watched the Arthur episode where he was the ringbearer several times
hi charm
Hi Charm
And a place for them to sit once they come down the aisle - either on the front row or on the steps!
Hi klaurel, abe.
when my brother got married, they had two flower girls, basically all the cousins. and my son was the ring bearer
can I beg a clue for the co8? I have the one that means medic in the military....
Hi Charm :)
daughter wasn;';t around then
hi, faerie!
plural charm
medic*s* in the military then :)
oh, tor, say it aint so!
all our children were in the wedding 8,7,5,2, no problems at all
Charm - then either plaural it or single it!
fish?
co 8's: compound words ending in male & males
i'm going to hide my head in shame....
we love you CHARM
Time to go home. YEAH! Hang in there KL! (You're probably having more fun here anyway!)
yeah, I am having more fun here! :)
and I can B**** about sis-in-law
nothing to be ashamed of for a "blind spot", charm -- we all have them :)
did i miss the clue for sa8?
sa8 = sa + p6/24 (absorbent material, full of holes)
sa 8: adjective (is there such a word?) form of the sa 5/12
awww come on! its gotta take YOUTS! ! :)
KL - is it b**** about outlaws day?
change the last letter klaurel
ty!
yo aloy! hop to IM, please.
I know, cybernan., Just making a My Cousin Vinny joke
right, kl. "two youts". lol.
Charm - sis-in-laws wedding. Sitting in hotel because she pretty much made it clear that if my 3 year old makes a scene at the wedding it would not be good. :)
and hubby had to zip me into my dress before he went
lunch time -- good luck, everyone -- back at the flip. Hope you have a lovely time at the reception, klaurel -- dance on the table top!
bye nan
OH! And when I said that I was thinking of a black dress, she told me I couldn't wear a black dress because it is the bridemaids color
I mean, I Can understand EGGPLANT or FUSCIA, but BLACK!!
what? her bridesmaids are wearing black??
hope you wore black anyway
Klaurel sounds like you are better off staying where you are for the time being dang what a bitch
and *why* are the bridesmaids wearing BLACK!
she has no right to tell you what to wear
yes and kinda. I found this dress that looks almost like a tux with a white lacy top and long black skirt
Black is really in now for bridesmaids, I wore black as a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding, but black is such a common formal color that to say no is ridiculous
kl, I can only hope it gets better from here! Eat all the most expensive items on the menu !! at least my outlaw waited until we had a child before telling me everything she regretted about me and our marriage.
On second thought, do two dances on the table top!
oh, crud! gotta run and get some makeup on and dress the child! :)
LoL cyber
and then do the aligator
good luck! have FUN!
dress her in jeans!
have to make the pictures! :) And I think I will let 3 year old terrorize the reception. :)
ok, I'm going to risk another fish in the face. HE6/7?
good luck Klaurel
good luck to you klaurel
enjoy the wedding, KL - we'll be thinking of you.
abe - nah, hubby got her a gorgeous dress that makes her look like a flower girl., :D
oh, just let the monkeys find it.
thanks all for letting me vent! :) and will TTYL!
he 6/7: mobster's assasin(s), change first vowel
u go 4 it
i hope we get to see pictures!
thanks, cybernan!
I will pop them up somewhere!
really going, now -- see you!
bye Cybernan and Klaurel
bye cybernan
su5 anyone?
sp 5 after scotsman's murse?
sp5 = a small fish? sp + rodent.

su5/12 - Hindu word - add a double dose of the beverage letter and finish with a vowel.
Hi, haz
Hello charm - os plus Spanish aunt for your os5
ty haz
hi haz
good evening everybody:)
ah, thanks! How is napoleon part of the grid? will i deserve a fish?
Hi, jean
Hello Atalante!
Napoleon was born, not in France, but an island off the coast of France. co5/12 is how he would describe his 'nationality'
my education continues, Haz!
That's the wonderful thing about babble - we learn new things every day.
sa 5/10 after tree gunk?
nice clue Haz
sapic
sa5/10 - sa plus the start of JFK's mother's name/flower
thanks Haz!
You're welcome!
ty Haz
i'll see you all later, i'm headed to the gym
Bye abe - go carefully.
thanks Haz. Thanks for all your help today
You're very welcome - see you tomorrow probably!

Well done hobbs. Give yourself a pat on the back.

oh, hey -- talk like a pirate day is Sept 19th! Everyone ready?
define "ready"...
well, rennie is
oi. i mean, yo...i need some practice
do we have to wear an eye patch? :)
Can anyone tell me why the plural of st 5/10 is not allowed?
at my middle school (I'm the teacher, not the kid) we all dress up -- and hand out a glossary the day before, so they can understand us when we squawk.
as sponge bob sez..."i'm ready i'm ready i'm ready"
the medical 5/10, that is
k, i'm a dorkus... i meant the AS words, not the AR words...
oh yeah..... hi all.....
i have the gross jello-ish stuff
i wonder why sept 19 is talk like a pirate day?
it's NOT gross if it's tomato!
maybe because it's one of those latin words -- the plural would end in ae?
for me EVERYDAY is talk like a pirate day...
is that a nationally designated holiday
Evening everyone.
i was sitting here wondering what day that is.....
hi charm
hey ya charm
its a tuesday
hijya charm
that's only if it ends in a, isn't it (been a while since Latin, may be wrong on that)

No, Stids, I don' t have the oa7, but I have 2 oa4's
he5/12 = pl of the he4/5 before it.
would be funny if I were related to her... LOL. did you know that after 400 + years of our families living and migrating side by side on this continent, Tom and I haven't found any ancestors in common? The closest we get (so far) is a distant cousin of my ancestor back in the 1700s married a cousin of his.
the oa7... the guys in the boat!
oa7 = what you row a boat with + males.
ha 6/21 please
the oa 7 is a plural paddle word, + a person who uses it (male)

i noticed that too, Krista. Also, 'sten' is not recognized as a valid word here, either.
Yes, jfarber, please help
i would like the st 8
I am proud of you too, jfarber
thanks all you cluers
I'll gor the cryptic clue: sounds like a mushroom seed that *** a race -- the 7 is singular, the 8 is the plural.
hey jfarber!
??? mushroom???
(The sp8 was defined earlier as a hairy manpurse. It's the pouch worn with a kilt.)
Hi, Krys10! How's california?
hey jf, great clue thanks
s'good. fighting a cold bug today but otherwise nice. enjoying being a student for a change.
Well, sure, if you want the definition...but it SOUNDS like a mushroom "seed" (sp***) that *** a race.
and vicuna your icon is terrific
Thanks, Dorens!
Am jealous. Middle school teaching hardly ever puts the teachers in learner mode, except in re: child development.
thanks, also, dorens.
jfarber, I taught middle school for 10 years before having my own kids. What subjects do you attempt to instill?
how's it been, back in the classroom?
hi everyone, down to my last 4
well now i kow what to call that hairy purse. thanks!
i am inspired...now have the proper icon
hi everyone
hi shirin
hi dorens, I just read your profile and saw you are a counselor. What age group?
Loving it. Tired, but loving it. 7th graders are so wee...
k - 8 shirrin, the best!...you?
hi ted and shirin
I attempt to teach common sense, actually, vicuna...but nominally, I teach computers, and then partner with other teaqchers in lab and classroom to integrate tech into other lessons.
hi shirin, Pappou Ted, Dorens & ikes!
ol I really get to teach every class, in one way or another.
hi snowy
Could I get a clue for at5/10?
K-6, this is my second year
yeah, ditto that at5/10
add the black gooey stuff?
at & black sticky stuff used for roads
that would be the at+ british sailor, dawn/krys.
enjoy it? i've done it for 8 years, switched last year to a new school....very different district, but still the same kind of stuff and i love it
at + *** paper (or sticky stuff for your driveway)
(That black gooey clue works, too :-)
Sounds fun, jfarber. Integration of subjects was my favorite part of curriculum design.
Thanks Charm!
I do enjoy it. I come home exhausted, but I love working with the students
hell i have to reboot - my met game is running too slow
Mine too -- and now I get to design with others, on the fly and organically, almost every day. Love it -- its as far as you can get from "teaching to the test" in US public schools, too.
Good afternoon, I need a clue for so7/32, please?
I do miss the REALLY little ones, though, like shirin's talking about. ditto that "exhausted but satisfied", shir.
it's the best job in the school as i see it.....very rewarding, never boring

ta5/12 = starchy root + consonant. and pl.
I love the kinders!
how about a clue for those of us who are Jewish, charm?
middle school teachers are saints!
I have a nice group this year, they are so lovable
Taught high school for 7 years in a boarding school -- living with the kids is great but REALLY exhausting. But before that I did like 4th grade a bunch.
fireworks for me!
see, i think the primary teachers are the saints... ihave patience for middle school kids, but not the little ones
congrats ted

Lev - I wouldn't dream of giving you clues unless you asked for them. Mind you, if you don't want to see clues, as I don't when I first start a grid, you could switch the chatlog off...
phan....its french for rogue
phan - it's a French rogue, a lothario/Delboy type.

I was trying to clue the ha5 but the server's gone weird on me again. Dr_G's advice worked for a week or two, but, today (maybe because a big grid?) it's all 'unresponsive script' stuff in Firefox again.:(

en + a boy named s**
Of course, jilli--you can always be depended on, evebh if you hide--I honestly forgot that sp** was a WORD
aknitter - I will scan in the pattern and send it to you later then. How big is your inbox? (If you'll pardon such a 'personal' question)? Do I need to zip it into a folder and, if I do, do you have the means to unzip it?

LOL jac, er my "in box" is quite sturdy
Hiya BJ. Are you another guy like Torg who found ti4.4 jumped out at him?
aknitter - Should I send the pattern, since it has a pic, too, in a zipped file?
actaully, the te4/4 variant is more noticable to me. I mean, I did find it, eventually. I'm not blind. Much.
Guys must love it when ti4/4 do that. It worked for Justin Timberlake! (If I have my pop reference right.)
sp 7 plz?
it should come through just fine unzipped jac (that sounds rather funny doesn't it)
I know this is a fish but I need the p 4 right after the one you cook on
LOL, BJ.
hetty, working babble with this little 15" monitor is a drag because it overflows and when I change the resolution it's a great eyestrain :D
sp7 - more sp6/21

wurdy, a dog does this when it is hot

At least I know now where those Scots keep their wallets....
Well, Vicuna, I wouldn't say 'ewww', but it made me laugh.

the hairy manpurse is the sp 7 and 8

Is hairy manpurse a clue to a real word ?
Okay, wisedoggy. First 4 letters of the "seeds" of a mushroom or fern, plus what you did in a race.

aknitter - I need to scan the pattern into my computer. That might be a noisy process at 2.48 am here when both my 'kids' (a miracle!) are upstairs sleeping and so is my Other Half. I went to bed at about 20 past 9 last night and got up and about 9am. Too much sleep!

any help for th6/21 and th7/32
ty vic
i want to see one with 'grid' in it.. i know its happened, but im sure it would be highly amusing to actually sit through
and jac
well i'm off (in more ways than one) night all
th6/21 - not now + what a pirate says
The worst is when "clue" is in the grid.
night, aknitter!
Goodnight, aknitter.
svso - th6 & 7 sound like people from Somerset (cider country here in UK) saying 'not now' and 'yes'.
love those clues vi
ah! i hadn't even thought of that one, vicuna
got them! ty
shucks, I guess everyone has my th5/12 icon clue. Time to change?
I think the last time "grid" was on the grid, we were all granted fish immunity
vi's clues are great. I heart vi.
But it's such a good-looking clue, jilli!
Awww, thanks, Jen! *blushing*
interesting too, I thought, but I think I'll opt for a defence of as5/14
Hi Jill! How's Tarquin?
hi all!
Since Babble went Beta I've found that when I save my found words to 'notepad' it, irritatingly also includes 'Look Up Word' on the l/h side of my word list. I've overcome that by doing 'Replace All/Match Case'. Is it just me though?
Hi again Stidmama. Are you rested now?
Hi Jacula!
me again - any help with the pa 5/12's near the bottom of the list
yes, thanks -- though I didn't actually ever et a "nap" I did read a bit and play with the dogs and such. :-)
pa 5/12 spanish walkway
pa5/12's - one is something you should eat with tomato sauce, and the other is something you should not eat in kindergarten, and they differ only by their last letters
pa 5/12 grammatical excercise.
story time, anyone?
Just fyi, tonight is chapter 40! :-)
ut?
If you're ready to become La Vyrle Spencer or Nocholas Sparks again, Stid you MUST rested well.x
*Nicholas.
I am here and willing to listen, stidmama

svso, the ut 4/5 is us + little connecting word used in title of Shakespeare play ** You Like It.
LOL Jacula!
okay inge... here goes "nuthin'" !
svso - ut + *S I said! (Sounds like more than one UK Salt county - think The Osmonds.)
thank you
two more enjf on your survey, Stid
*ENFJ
As Nan fell asleep last night, she thought she heard the beat of wings on the window.
LOL inge! I will tally it again when I am done -- thanks for letting me know!
I just noticed this grid doesn't recognize a lot of foreign food. Ramen, rosti, and suey (as in chop suey) are all here. lol
It was probably only the branch of the vine that clambered up the front of the house and crawled over the roof of the porch. Still, it "sounded" like wings. And her dreams were filled with strange creatures and far-off lands.
inge - I was INJF on the Myers-Briggs thing.
She saw again the strange bird-person. It was perched on the tall roots of a toppled tree near a river.
but the ENfj are gaining...
The cataracts of the river drowned out the sound of its voice, but Nan strained to figure out what it wanted.
The wind shifted, and so did her dreams.
Don't care, Inge. I was nevr part of a gang anyway!
She was walking in a lovely valley, bright with spring flowers and the blades of new grasses. Little birds cavorted on the breeze and a baby rabbit hopped across the path in front of her.
A shadow fell across the path and the birds scattered.
She looked up, and a huge bird was circling, circling.
The wind outside shifted again and rattled the tiles on the chimneys, sending a puff of smoke through the brickwork into the room.
Nan was standing at the door of a tavern or inn, looking for someone. She couldn't remember who she needed to find, but she knew it was urgent.
wisedoggy are you on line?+
She tried to find the innkeeper, but in all the commotion and confusion, she found herself in a corner of the inglenook, face to face with a ragged, dirty stranger who shook a bony finger at her and started to scold.
Hi everyone
(I had a 'phone call from an old schoolfriend earlier. It seems one of the old gange from '72 has had an abrupt career change. She's starring in a sma;; theatre production play as almost the only actor. Having had the plot read to me, it doesn't sound a bundle of laughs. But she's invited about a dozen of us to see it. 'Blo*dy hell! I said to the old friend on the 'phone. 'What do we say when we go backstage, if it's awful?' 'Jac!' she said. 'You went to the same school as I did. Surely you must have learned to lie? Failing that, just slosh the wine back before, during and after and hope to God i doesn't make you truthful!' Oh! OOeer!
The wind shifted and died down, and Nan was in a small room lined with wood panels. Around the room were arranged beautiful boxes and brilliant lanterns in many colors.
Hi Natasha!
She reached out for a red and green bottle.
anyone have a clue for th 7?
Hi NAT. Welcome!
Esmeralda was in the downstairs bedroom, kept warm by the kitchen fire through the night. She lay a long time, thinking about her life.
Plural of th6. Amy.
thanks! got it
She remembered how, as a child, she had learned from her mother to recite poetry, and from her father to look carefully at everything and describe it with words.
OOps - supper's ready and I'm missing stid's story again! And regrettably, supper does not contain my new icon, as5/14
She remembered how as a young woman, she had married and set up house not far from her parents, anticipating many years of working side by side with her mother as the children grew up.
Later Jill!
Jilli's icon respresented the savoury jelly.
Stid - just must interrupt for a moment to check you are NOT La Vryle Spencer?
The tears leaked from her thin eyelids as she recalled the day she and her mother had climbed the hill to gather fresh bitter greens, leaving her husband to care for the little boy, just learning to walk and chattering in a happy tone all day long.
LOL Jacula!
From near the top of the ridge, they had looked back at the village in horror as they heard a rumble, and saw the village swallowed by a wall of mud and trees and rocks.
Her mother had fallen there, her heart broken, and had not risen.
this is going to be a very sad moment, isnt it, Stid???
I wasn't joking, Stid. I knew your story telling reminded me of someone... La Vryle came to mind first and then Nick Sparks.
[Sorry inge, I think it will resolve comfortably, though]
Esmeralda put her hands to her face and focused, as she had been taught in the monastery.
Stid's going to leave you on cliff-hanger now, Inge, if she's the story teller I think she is!
Slowly, small memory by small memory, she constructed the face of her husband. She recalled the sound of her son's voice. She felt the touch of her mother's hand.
no, Jacula, I trust her to leave me with plesant thoughts for the night
I'll just shut up shall I,. Stid? ZIIIIPPP!
could I interrupt with a request for the ra 7 clues pls
Her husband smiled at her, and held out his hand. She reached out, and -- just for a moment -- felt the warm strength as he embraced her.
Then, in an instant, they were gone.
Nan was standing by her bedside, shivering, despite the warmth of the room.
ra 7/44: what rodents get when they lay out in the sun
28 not 44
ra & has to do with wicker furniture
Esmeralda scooched over and let the child in under the covers. [does anyone know the right way to spell that word?]
thank you inge
"Doctor, I had a dream."
She hugged Esmeralda as if she were about to slip away.
Esmeralda hugged her back, gently.
ra7/32 - Thin brownish chaffy scales upon the leaves or young shoots of some plants, especially upon the petioles and leaves of ferns. Rhymes with an la**** that may bee sung at a funeral (and then addd 1ast vowel at end).
"I dreamed the bird person told me I needed to find you, and I was in a pretty place that was in danger, and then I was alone, and didn't know my name. And then I was in my pretty box and it was safe again."
Which word, Stid? scooched?
found no scooch in Webster's, how about scoot as a substitute?
No idea! I knew what you meant.
The doctor cleared her throat, "And what do you think that was about?"
yes Jacula -- I've never seen it written, just heard it!
Nan shivered, "I think it was about a Journey we take."
In a very small voice, she added, "I think it is about a journey you have to take."
They were silent for a moment, each thinking her own thoughts.
help, need last st5 pls
those things taht they insert in the arteries to make blood flow
The little girl's heart stopped racing, and she relaxed as she felt the steady, strong rhythm of the old woman's breathing.
go lbd go!
lbd - last st5/10 is that medicl shunt thing they put into your body to give drugs like morphine etc. Can also be put into a heart to make it pump better.
skootch?--Thanks you Inge and jac! fireworks!
Hey Amyvon - Did you have to start over?
Finally, Esmeralda spoke again. "Long ago, when I was a little bit older than you are now, my parents took a journey and I went with them.
that looks better, thanks lbd, and YAY!
"We had to travel by boat and we went over the same ocean that your father did. It took us many days on the water, and then many weeks traveling beyond that to reach the land where my father had been born."
hey wisedoggy, yes I did...only have 135...you?
lbd - there's no such word as what you typed, but you obviously got it from what we said or said with our minds. So, well done!
139
need any hints?
I think I may give up...58 left and I have been here for what feels like all day
It must have been painful staring over. Actually just came back to this from "Ruins"...
Amy - you will have to be more specific than that to get clues on here.
"My father's people were known for their wisdom and ability to create things. They lived in strange woven houses high up on the sides of cliffs."
what part are you on?
Strange woven houses? Now tht's interesting!
Jac, i googled it...that's the closest that came up to what i thought Stid was wanting.
Only about 50 pages past where I was today.
Nothing earth shattering yet
I googled skootch, and it does exist
"I remember my grandmother, she had very dark hair, like a young woman, that she wore in an intricate braided manner. But her skin was very thin and pale. And her nose was sharp and pointed. Her mouth was almost lipless."
yet...
"I was quite afraid of her, at first."
lbd - but I KNEW the word she said and what she meant by it. A colloquilism(?spelling) that has become people speak?
grandma sounds like the bird person!
Grandma sounds v. scarey!
You never took my email address. That is why you had to start over right? We might be done by now!
"But after a few days, I grew to like her. She would take me with her to gather things -- bits of bark and grasses, roots and berries, flowers and branches and leaves. She gave me names for all of them, and repeated them as often as I needed until I knew them."
I forgot I needed it...it didn't take too long to get to about 80...now I'm stuck at 142
need help with ta 5 above the fish sauce pls
"I had aunts and uncles there, too, and cousins. They were not all as solemn as my grandmother, but they all had a way of looking at one as if they were seeing through them to another place or time."
nm got it; 12 left
ta5/10 - what our tongue does! A sense.
go Phan!
Jeff alluded to something...an idea that he had, that he didn't think any of the others were ready for, not yet. I think that was foreshadowing for something intense. I think it has something to do with sacrificing Pablo.
Just a thought. .
"But they were all very much older than I was, and had their own tasks and lessons. Only my grandmother had the time and the patience to take me along on her walks."
jeff is a realist, and very selfish...
*Meant your tongue.
ta5/10 - wjhat you do to food.
Did you get yo7 and Yo8 yet? (this is heaven, play babble and the ruins. - oh and also pounding tic tacs)
our hampster is on his treadmill, I always get startled by the sudden noise
*hamster
Also, what you may or may not have re clothes. fashion. food, life.
"My mother just sat in the little house, doing needlework. My father would bring her a beautiful hank of wool or linen -- it was very soft and shiny, and I never did learn what it was called in our language -- and my mother would work as long as there was light, stitching, knitting, mending. She was very fast, and very good. It was a skill that all my cousins and aunts and uncles did not have and they were greatful for her abilities."
how can satan not be in the dictionary!!!
Stidmama, What novel are we reading ?
"My father was gone most of the time with his brothers and the other villagers. They seemed to be working on something important, but they never spoke of it near me or my mother."
isn't it? the only problem is I can't knit too! I only have 2 yo5's
He is not, wurdy. Neither is Santa.
It doesn't have a name, wisedoggy...
you're such a wisedoggy!
So, no Hell and no Christmas either.
well, if babble just makes up words tht I don't know how can i finish lol
stid is inventing this story as she goes along, it started some 40 evenings ago, you can read up on it in BABanon, Interest section
Yo7 and yo8, Oil of Olay does this to the skin, and then the plural
Stidmama - its yours then?
"Meantime, I climbed the cliffs with my grandmother, as spry as she was wrinkled, and walked the valleys, and paddled in the river on the warm days, looking for beautiful stones."
yes, wisedoggy.
For those only interested in finishing the grid right now, if you want to read Stid's story later, go to BabAnon.
whoa thanks wisedoggy didn't even know that was a word!
"We were there for a year and a day."
si7 hint?
I haven't felt this stressed since college...I only have a little over an hour to finish
Von, I am thinking about Upgrading to Pro. What are the advantages of being a Pro Babbler..., anyone, anyone?
Amy - I don't think the yo's ARE words! (Except in the Enable/Disable dictionary.
"The night before we left, my mother presented each of my relatives with a beautifully made robe. They were black when you looked at them one way, but rainbow colors when they moved. My father presented each one with a carved box."
wisedoggy I just went pro and you never loose the grid
Von - that is the plural of a musical instrument
Nan yawned and snuggled a little closer. Esmeralda gave her another gentle hug and kissed her forehead.
no isn't that si6?
wurdy, what do you mean by "never loose the grid"
Von, you're right sorry
Being a Pro player is so much more fun.
I do not have si7 yet
after your trial period you lose the grid at the bottom that tells you how many words there are for the day and how many from each letter
Oh, yeah, the grid rocks.
amy, like the si above it (4/5) and last part of female poultry
"My grandmother gave me a necklace, with a flask on it, and told me to guard it carefully and that I would someday know what it was for. She gave my mother a basket that could fold up very small, and a thin book. And to my father she gave a kiss."
do you get a picture besides mr. x?
if you go pro yes
"We left early in the morning, and did not look back at the village as we walked." When we came to the ocean, we got on a boat and came home. We did not look back."
Can you pick any picture or do you choose from a list?
amy, you can put an icon in that box as well as have the bio...click on one of us with a picture and see.
pick any you want
"My parents never spoke of our travel unless asked, and to strangers they would say only that we have visited my father's family and spent some time with them so I would know them."
si7 is an obsolete form of for 'in the past'. You lot realy should read The Bard!
I'm really enjoying the story, but I have just one word left to find--so please, smeone, help me out with te7/28
hi, you get to choose an icon-- an image from the web or your computer-- a .png file-- it's fun...
"And to me, they would smile and say -- remember..."
And also read Chaucer.
i just did... it rocks! doggie we have to go pro!
go hetty to!
Thanks, stid, but don't let me break your concentration
Hetty, plural of the te 6/18
Nan snored gently and Esmeralda slipped her arm out from beneath the girl's head.
Hetty - te7/28 is plural form of te6/18 before it.
Carefully, she climbed out of bed and sat wrapped in an extra blanket in the chair by the window.
She watched the tops of the trees dancing in the moonlight, and watched the clouds as they scudded along, now thicker, now thinner, but never threatening rain.
OK just got back. One of my boys fell out of bed...thud!
Some of you may think I've been distractin Stid during her story. I hope Stid doesn't think that. I try to clue without distractions at the times I am here when the story is being told.
He is okay. So Von, you're Pro?
not yet but will sign up when trial is over
So amy what rocks?
done and good night!
I need a slap in the face with a wet fish for that one, Jac. Couldn't see how to puralise--after all this practice I'm quite ashamed. But I do read Chaucer, Jac!
She reached inside the neck of her shift and pulled out a delicate green and red vial. In soft, birdlike tones, she began singing a song of cliffs and updrafts, of the delight of the sunrise and the dark of the night.
YAY phandmd! good night.
Jacula, I am glad you clue people (usually I pick up a few words from you too)!
Keep on telling the story, Stid...
nothing yet...my boy hasn't fallen out of bed...yet!
She was there when the sky turned indigo, then pink, then violet and teal... and the clouds melted away like the dreams of children.
*actually, I think this is good place to stop for the evening. Inge? is this serene enough?**
Thanks, lbdawger, for your timely help.
my boys aren't in bed to fall out yet! LOL
I think we multitask quite comfortably (storytelling/listening & babbling) :)
What boy? Dougie?
fine with me, more tomorrow...Danke und Gute Nacht
is everyone else done with the grid?
hi liba! when did you slip in?
Bitte sehr, inge -- bis morgen!
yes! i'm typing quietly
about 40 min. ago, stid! :)
Guten abend, gute nacht. . . hear the Brahms
night night inge
night inge
Oh, me too.
yw hetty.
Stid - you really should stop on cliff-hangers! You do knw that, I guess?
you're so sneaky, liba! :-)
great story as always Stid...yes it was a very serene ending tonight.
i still can't get si7 there were some good clues down there gotta start reading something other than true crime
was listening! D
Usually I do, Jac! but sometimes even I want a "resting place" at the end of a chapter.
wurdygirl - I'm not finished! I have 115 to find but I don't care.
when I taught German to an innercity Lutheran school first grade, one fo the boys started singing that Brahm's lullaby and floored me
Any help with ar 6 and ar 7?
*shameless plug* Amyvon -- try my story! it's about as far from true crime as you can get!
jilly - I have 47 this is not a peasceful game for me lol
Scrabbler - to wake someone and the one who wakes someone
Nope! You can be serene in yousrself if you know where it's going, but you should leave your readers gagging to know more...
Oh i got 'em--then i saw your vlue
I mean, don't leave them with a 90' spider climbing upon them... LOL.
am some people can get de****** when they age
d'oh!
jacula, when you get to be my age, you want serenity rather than cliff hanger
I have "enough" words for me so am going to head out and transcribe the chapter to BabAnon. And re-tally the myers-briggs.
Hi all been sitting reading story and not wanting to interupt Thank You Stidmama and bye
now I am going for sure, *poof*
I've had too many interruptions today. Now I'm going to catch up with the Stidsotries I've missed lately. Just everybody have a look at the recipe for Gazpacho as5/14 (my icon, sort of)
Okay, Jacula, just for you... **On the top of the mountain, the birds were gathering.**
yw Tiny! see you later!
Just checked your age. Inge. You have 20 years on me,. and good for you for that! Okay. I will not try to be 'wiser' than you, since I know that every decade that passes in my life, my boundaries change.
Going back to the "Ruins", then bed. G'nite all!
Jill -- did you put it in the recipes at BabAnon? It looks delicious!
Right now, though, as a writer...
ISTJ for me.
eyeballs are ready to pop outta my head...night night everyone see you after the flip

no do you have a clue?
What about flotsam's sidekick?
Elizabath Elgin - a good friend of mine., Google her, if you want to see what she wrote. Mostly WW2 novels. which she knew about , since she was WREN. Oh, but she was such fun, too. A great lady! A Yorkshire lass.
en7: LOTR tree beginning, disney movie with dancing hippos ending.
flotsam' sidekick is my icon.
am7 is like dementia, but you drop the de and add a very obvious vowel. No idea what it means.
Yes Jacula, I just regurgitated your clue from earlier. Like a mamabird.
got it! tx
See ya!
yo5, 16--I cannot figure out the herb clue, even with Google

scrabbler- yo5/16= yo* and me + lets go **e a movie
thx jfarber - good clue with D movie:)
Most of my friends are on the bookshelves of WHS. They can't figure out why I am not, also. I can! I've not written or submitted anything for about a decade.
TY! I am too tired to finish tonight, but I am trying to at least "grey out" some boxes.
:-) welcome
scrabbler- i know the feeling i have 39 words left and it is taking everything i have to stay awake- i don't think i'll finish though
With the bigger grids, and depending on the day, I shoot for 50%, so I have passed that point.
My first paid submission to and editor was when I was about 8. It never stopped from then until I .. my husband left me. I think he stole myy 'muse'.No one wants to read 'bitter' stuff and, until I can cntrol myself from scripting Top Gear, then I need to take a back seat/
go for you scrabbler
co 5/12 please
That bast*** gummed up 30 year's worth of selling stories!
co5/12: dead person with no urine left?

Great clue, jfarber. Clever.
lol jfarber!
eljay- did you see tim burton's the co*p** bride?
any others?
nope...
nope didn't see movie....
Yeah, 106 more clues would help, but REM sleep is looking attractive.
In the meantime, I make money via srcasm.
chapter's up... going to look at the myers-briggs.
I'm in the same spot, scrabbler -- within 5 clues of your count, too.
sarcasm pays?
84 left and just over an hour and a half... I wonder if I can do it?
*sarcasm
Just beg for clues. That's what I do when I am determined to finish.
Hello metal....I'm at 81 to go & wondering too
sarcasm pays,jfb!
LOL I can picture it now...please, please, i Only need 110 words...can you just clue everything, to be sure?
eljay- did you get the co?
mistress!!!!
Scrabbler, quick query -- the lms @ adelphia person -- is this the same person represented as the Scrabbler myers-briggs?
LOL, I"m finishing up gleaning clues from today's chat log... and I may start begging after that
It's kept me and my kids in a home for 12 yeaars or so now.
Yes, Stid, I messed up that entry. Any way to reverse that?
corsar
I forgot that I entered before.
oops
sorry!!
so what? You use a word and then compund the error with one that actually works?
I'll see, Scrabbler, just wanted to be sure I knew what was going on. No "biggie" :-)
OK

...and that's the 200. Night again, all.
Scrabbler, I think the only way to "erase" a post is for the originator to go in and edit it herself. It's okay, I got you covered.
Finally took the plunge and went pro.
What time is it---4:30 AM?
good night Jacula, and good night all. I was up early today (nightmare) so I think I'll turn in early...

you go go snpp!!!!
TY very much Stids. I thought I had to log in as for Babble, but then the name was not as I hoped.
Good night Jacs.....
I have had similar experiences on various sites. It can be frustrating!
Pretty good! I figure I get so much enjoyment from this game I might as well stop freeloading.
do you know, turtle, there are several babbling Portlanders around... wassup and mich in pdx for two!
now I really really must go. sweet dreams all, and see you sometime tomorrow.
And you are officially addicted now, turtle. "My name is turtle, and I am a Babble-holic. I am ready for the 12-step program...."
Yeah I met one last night.
Good night, Stids.
Scrabbler - I've asked Dr_God aboout that one before. There'sd no help thre. And 'edit post' buton would be great, or even a 'delete post', but. it seems, it's not going to happen fpo a while...
Totally addicted. But it's a great excuse to not do homework!
TY---not a terrible problem, I guess. But a mistake on my part.
Babble is a great excuse to not do a lot of other things.
hello everyone!
Hello Deb
