rlee, pure fiction, but quite amusing.
missed babble over the weekend, went to east anglia
I find the stuff about the losers and the women etc to be fascinating. But you're right about passionate teachers -- they are electrifying, no matter what the stubject.

Well, that's better. :)
When the An10/105 by the G7/40 is a fact, I will never ever en8/50 my sword again.

*feels better* Hey, Sprite, I was thinking of you all day, hope it went as well as it could. Hiya, Swill! And all.
yes sprite - how are you?
Thanks for asking :) It did go as well as it could. Beautiful service, very much in line with my friend's character. It is very sad to loose a friend this way, so early, but it is good to see how many people are there to support eachother in coping with the loss.

Okay, I have a stupid question, ARB, Ankh... is it okay for non-Jewish people to wish you guys Happy Newyear?

jilli: Ge7/40, very nasty people who did dirty work for Hitler.

Well, I'm atheist, so yeah, anybody can wish me anything any time and I take it as a nice gesture. ARB's the expert here.

Of course, Sprite. I will wish you Merry Christmas. I honor you and you honor me. Mutual respect. Aint that what peace and harmony is all about?
brb
jill any luck yet?
such a simple concept ARB, but one many people fail to embrace
I was once rebuffed for doing so by a Jewish acquaintance of mine, so I was a bit afraid to do so. So... Happy Newyear to ARB and debbs, may there be peace and joy in the year to come *hugs*
nicely said arb
ge4.6 tehn short version of sticky plastic used to seal things

Yes, very nice, ARB. Sprite, I guess some people are pissy and you just never know when you're gonna get licked or bit, as we say. :)

One of my med techs is Muslim and he was so grateful that I wished him a nice Ramadan last year, tears came to his eyes. Not an easy time to be Muslim here, I guess.

I will simply say I wish peace and all that is good to everyone, and may you excel in the craft of life.
Yeah, well, the age thing is necessary cuz I'm not so spry myself. The bitch thing is Dear One's demand, because we babysat a boy dog who wee'd all over D.O.'s kitchen herbs. :)
hi blaze
No, really, Ankh, I think that is very hard at the moment. I enjoy, or should say love, being with all kinds of people and believes, I feel we can enrich eachother. And what is religion about anyway if there cannot be love and respect between people?
I'll vote for you ARB!
ARB, you are so on the right track!
hello blaze ! - i agree arb - i seond the vote
That is a wonderful blessing, Swill, to excel in the craft of life!
A sweet sentiment for someone named Swill, Gaddy! :)
Amen, Swill
I wish you could, ARB, I really wish you could!

Hmmm... I think we share a common religion here, cuz we're all big fans of Dr. God! heh heh heh

nah, occasional blindness is a common babbling disease. Especially for short words.
i really think hexation ought to be a word
lol
yea ty sprite
You don't want to know how often I tell myself: how hard can it be, it is only 4 letters, sheeezzzzz.... :) And still I'll be looking for 10 more minutes of so, and monkeying away.
that was a word i always forget
A friend of ours has a dog that is called Rh4. That's how I remember :)
good way to remember those words
It certainly qualifies for a babblet.
lol yes
Good nite everyone and peace!
by my
Peace out, Muse.
Night muse :)
night muse!
El, I agree with you about hexation. In fact, we need that word to use as a consequence of vexation.
I thought the rh4 was a bird - just looked it up and it is - like a small ostrich. It's also the ramie fibre.
i was just wondering that myself jilli!
It's also in mythology - a Titan -- hence the dog's name, maybe
Hey, I did not know that. Thanks jilli! I will tell my friend about her dog's name, that she called it after a tiny bird... it is a Berner Senner :)
Yeah, the one who gave birth to all the gods. But not Gaia, the other one.
its still not a *small* bird, Spritey ... just smaller than an ostrich :P and hi :)
hi ata!!
Too bad, it would have been gr5 to te5 her with it ;) Hi Ata *hug*
hi ata
oaten
Sprite, is that the same as a St. Bernard?
eewwww -- sorry!
Not exactly the same, but about the same size, yes. Different coloring.
er, txs, Jilli. :)
Ankh: http://home.planet.nl/~katte026/
*pines again for a moment for the GSP she doesn't have yet* We went to the dog picnic, were thinking about one who was not QUITE right... but our luck turned out, she was JUST right for another family, so POOF!
Oh, Sprite, I'm a dodo -- she's what we call a Bernese Mountain Dog here, in AKC parlance.
*hug* Ankh, you will find the perfect one for you... or she/he will find you.
just what I was thinking, ankh!
Txs, sprite, jilli... er, that is, I hope you were thinking my dog will show up, not agreeing that I am indeed a dodo.
LOL! Nah, you look anything but extinct to me.
Heh! Well, not tonight, at least.
Heh... my phantom is phantom. Anybody got the 10?
lol ankh - I was thinking the Berner Senner was a Bernese Mountain Dog - and I do hope you get your GSP
An10 builds on an5/20.
i got the 10 - it is an extension of the an 5/20 preceding
the 10 is what Hilter did to other countries
Hmmmm... I'll work on the ten, hmmm. Oh, good, Jilli! :)
Any hints on the ho 5/12?
ho + cyber...
hey, ARB - i just got up - insomnia.
Boker tov or Laila tov Melon. How did your fast go?
Yeah, Happy New Year, Melon.
OK - yours?
hi melon
Happy Newyear, melon :)
tx ankhorite
tx sprite
Jilli, make fun of me ... I got it in German first.
hi, jilli and anyone i missed
Fairly easy -- had to drink a little though -- hot and dry here yesterday.
Melon, ARB, if it's not too rude to ask, do you find the fast effective, spiritually speaking?
If it's too rude, just ignore me.
we had perfect weather - mid 60s. you would have loved what i prepared to break the fast - semolin/farmer cheese pancakes with blueberries & sour cream - way, way easier than blintzes.
yes, ankhorite. I think it matters that i do it with a congregation. basically except for sleeping at night and a 2 hour break in the afternoon, i'm in synagogue. the idea is to not interrupt prayer to meet bodily needs. The last 2 hours can be tough; i'm very careful to wean off caffeine a few days in advance.
It's not rude -- It is traditional; it brings me in touch with my grandparents; there is a sense of achievement in overcoming appetite. And sometimes it is very distracting. I think it changes from person to person, as well as from hour to hour within the person. Being in a synagogue helps.
it's not rude at all ankh
Oooh, I wouldn't have thought of that. Well, yeah, it is rude, but you're good sports about it. :)
no it is not! my yes was, yes you may ask. :)
Perhaps we should ask eachother this kind of question more often. It is so good to hear people tell about how they experience traditions like these. Thanks for sharing :)
Sprite, you are an angel, not a sprite!
ARB, for me, when I hear the shofar, i think this is the sound my grandparents, great-grandparents, and on back heard - the exact same sound.
Lol, see my icon... an angel with a bite and a sting, I fear ;)
this is the nicest, safest chatroom, i must say.
I have friends who are in a tradition where one withdraws to fast in solitude, and they say that works for them. But I'm more familiar with group vigils (though not so much with the fasting, since Vatican II eased up on that somewhat), and I know that, as you two have just said, they are made special, more intense, for being shared. Oh, Melon, what a thought! That certainly would make one feel...complete. At home. In place. Hmm, apparently the grid isn't the only place I grope for words..
Right on, Melon. And when I complain about being hungry, I can hear my gramma complaining in Yiddish.
Melon, I have never and would never chat anywhere else.
indeed, ARB, i agree.
I second that, melon!
we wordsmiths are atrange but gentle people...
Awww... it's true of my limited experience here, everyone is kind.
that was strange... can't type
everyone here is lovely :)
whos done
drifting towards French, etranger?
I have fasted in solitude and that both taught me a lot about myself (and how I deal with hardship and frustration) and made me feel more connected with Whatever it is that creates life.
except me i am mean to the bone lol
i didnt get that cyber ho clue
oh taz you're freakin' ferocious
chj, I haven'theard of anyone finishing - certainly not me!
Yes, Taz, you're quite fierce, LOL... Oh, it's someone's Babble name. Ho + cyber _ _ _

YAY sprite!!!
Any hint on the ne 7/36?
"laila tov" has such a beautiful sound to it. Makes me smile every time you say it.
tense
Oh, Sprite, nevermind, I got it as soon as I typed the request... thanks! I'm done now, as in, half-done... see ya'll later! Thanks for the good chat tonight. Laila tov to you all. *POOF!*
oooooooooooops!
Ne7: drop one vowel from the 8.
I'm half asleep but don't have the ne8
sorry for the delay in your next stage, sprite! its high on my list, honest! urf, everything's just been busy. I know you're not worried, but just letting you know :)
po7/32 Po + couple of adolescents
Ne8: saying I don't
or - teens without cash!
thanks, sprite
wooops - that was not subtle.
lolol\
You're the best, Ata! It is in the best of hands with you, and I know you will get to it when you can. Just take your time *hug*
LOL melon!
bad bad work deadlines! they mess up my real art life!
one more 7 pls
toda, Sprite. (Toda == thank you in Hebrew)
And how do I say "you're very welcome"?
ARB - could you write these Hebrew phrases down in Babanon or somewhere? I'd love to remember them but I need to see them somewhere where they don't disappear on the chat log!
taz, do you have sp7/32 or sp7/36?
7.32
anyone got po6/24 after the rhymers
Sp7/36: s + small road + vowel - plural
sp7/32 - put a sp***** in the works (mess things up)
chj: Po6/24 ends in what is left over after a fire.
Interestingly, there is no word for you.re welcome. Politely, you say the word for please, as if you are saying "if you please" in response. Or you say "it was nothing", which I really find offensive (coming from myEnglish) -- if you get a thanks for something, why say it was nothing?
thanks sprite
self-deprecation!
ty much jill sprtie
Similar to the Spanish, I know.
ARb , also true in French"de rien" & "il n'y'a pas de quoi" are "it was nothing" - did you find Israeli manners taking some getting used to?
That is interesting, ARB. And I agree, it is a silly way to answer one's appreciation. What is the word for please, please?
I love the directness.
ARB - is there an equivalent to the Brit "don't mention it"?
b'vakashah (stepping in for arb)
thanks :) So, belatedly: b'vakashah!
i need moslty e words o well maybe in the am ty all
that sounds more like Klingon!
Sprite - "b'vakasha" is please. Jilli, it was nothing can also be translated as don't mention it, since the phrase literally is "there is no thing" .
are both the b and the v pronounced there? b - vakasha?
Yes
ne8, ne7, sn8, te7 clues please? b'vakashah?
perpiacere? s'il vous plait?
ne8: the act of denying. ne7: drop one vowel from the 8. sn8: take my picture and you have one te7: mixed-up digit from the foot + something to cook in, plural.
ne 8 -- act of denying. ne 7 is the ne 8 with one less vowel. sn 8 = picture taken by a home camera
Sprite, you type fast!
We sing almost in unison, ARB :)
Todah RabaH! )thank you very much).
what is ne7? the bomb you don't drop?
what is the equivalent of "go with God", or similar, the sort of farewell you can give people?
Shalom -- peace
ARB, I don't think "don't mention it" is quite the same as "it was nothing". It says there was something, but fugeddabahdit -- ?
wah! the nazi police are allowed!
and yet neato isn't!
Jilli, you're right -- but a lot also depends on the inflection when saying it. It can convey anything from a sense of dismissal to gentle hand waving.
they are not. never.
neither is phaser
;) sprite - you are quick!
I see what you mean, ARB
my phantom - gestation
more phantoms - hosta and harps
hmmm, no neato allowed, yet a very recent hip-hop slang is.
well, everyone, i've reached my goal - halfway and all the 7s & up. better catch 3 hours before my schoolkid gets up. He fasted 24 out of 25 hours - very proud of him.
so. laila tov, you are all so nice. see you later.
laila tov, melon!
nite, melon!
I want manatee
Laila Tov. A Gute nacht
laila tov melon
& a bouna notte (i'm also half italian). now, to quote ankherite - POOF!
I'm beginning to remember babblets

bye beast!
Thanks ARB, glad to help :)
bye Beast
Haz are you there? I have a big problem that you may be able to help with. Please don't laugh - well not too loudly. My kitchen is upstairs and a squirrel came through the window and created havoc - smashing things. I cannot catch it and it has now been in there for 48 hours. I'm at the end of my tether. HELP
Frances, I am here. You would need to call either the RSPCA or your local council - they would usually have some sort of pest control people.
Here in the States Frances, we have wildlife rescue that will come help.
I take it you have left the window open to let it out?
hard not to laugh Frances
Haz I've tried that. The council will come out for mice or rats and the RSPCA will come out for other wildlife but neither will come out for squirrels.
Thanks Andree. Even I can see the fu
Even I can see the funny side but it is very annoying
Hello everyone...
hi douglas!
Good grief! Try contacting your local vet for advice, or are there any animal rescue centres nearby?
it will seem a lot funnier in 6 months when you retell the story over a drink or 2
Window has been left open day and night
i don't suppose you can lure it out with food when it's in the kitchen already.
Francis, try a humane animal trap, bait it with food. Locally here you can borrow them from SPCA.
hi douglas
Hi Douglas
maybe it is no longer hungry
Tried leaving food out. It has gone untouched - must be on a diet!
Our local environmental health department has cat cages which are baited to trap wild cats - try them to see if they would come out to do it, or let you borrow the cage. (I'm not laughing by the way, this must be really annoying!)
Are you sure he is still there Francis, maybe he is ill and thats why he won't come out.
what happens when you go in the kitchen, does it hide or just run about
This grid may be a little difficult, eh?
we don't have squirrils in Aus
it's not bad douglas.
but possums are real pests
They are cute little creatures! I hand raised one once. A baby that fell from a tree outside.
Yes def still there. When I go into the kitchen it hides. Looks very healthy. I will try your suggestions re humane traps. Wish me luck. I'll let you know how I get on. Thank you all.
Good morning Dougas - it's a nice grid, but at the minute we're busy trying to get a squirrel out of Frances' kitchen.
good luck Frances
Good Luck Frances
yes, good luck frances!
Or, Frances, do you know any fishermen with nets?
Try the trap Frances, I am sure it will work, just make sure the only food available for him is in the trap, he will go to it eventually, good luck!
I need to get on with "normal" life -- anyone need any help before I sign off?
Thanks all. Isn't it wonderful that there are so many of you out there who are able to offer such good advice. Thanks again. Bye
I'm off everyone, have a great night/day!! Vye! And good luck Frances!
not ready to ask for clues yet arb! just collecting those that jump in front of me! thanks!
night cat!
Let's hope it IS good advice! I do hope you get rid of your unwanted creature.
Bye Cat

thanks andree! those were two of the Hs i was missing.
nope, it's not hoyiayia, LOL
where do the 2 bottom Ns go> It's frustrating when you think you're finding it and it blacks out a different letter
penny, rhymes with ro** barrett
they use the same letter Pap
and plural
They are 'nothing' with a different last vowel and plural
thanks, do you know that I always miss that? I was putting in double n's/ and in greek that also means godmother, but I always pronounce it with the same vowel
Okay, time for a break. 66 to find later. And I AM moving away from the computer. Honestly.
bye, haz, have a good one
suuure haz! see you "later!"
bye haz
Hi everyone. How's it going?
op 4/6, hawaiian name for sunfish, and plural
hi angb!
hi, angb, not bad, about half way done
hi angb
Me too. I was on earlier tinkering away and someone got half way thru in about 1/2 hour ... sure puts me to shame.
took me about 40 minutes I think
Ahhh - there you go I am slow - mind you I find myself staring in one spot for a long period of time = sort of glazed LOL
I usually try to go across the grid, but I can't help but wander, I think that's how I get the easy words first, they just pop out and with my sometimers, I'm afraid I might forget them, LOL
Yep - I get a great satisfaction from grey squares - but the top left was an R today LOL - nasty things R's.
I know, found 4 and gave up, will have to ask for clues later
i have all the Rs if you want clues.
fran, not sure which ones I need, let me see
rh4/5, bird
I have to lease and pl, to take a break, and re4,5
ok, 1 more
That the one I didn't have fran thnx

do you have the one that is re plus the first two letters of to mold something
Oh PappouTed you mean the white spaces where I have very few words !

help with sp6/24 please
been monkying that one for a while andree...no luck so far
sp6/24 - a botanical term. Singular sp4/5 followed by the definite article
thx haz
It can be pluralised forsp7/36
I had the plural Haz it seems, but not the singular - doh!
thanks haz!
It happens to all of us!
thx haz, will work on it
Hi Haz. Didn't see you there; I was busy typing my 'found on paper' words in. Done that now. Got 98 left to find.
ty haz..got there in the end :D
Andree - For sp6 (& plural 7) think of the old news, 'P**** News'.
Hello Jacula - I was on earlier, have 63 left to find and am dipping in and out. It's a nice grid.
Haz - I think that's what I'll have to do, in between ironing.
95 left...might think about lickety soon
Ironing and babble don't mix, I've discovered. A pity, I like doing both but apparently not together.
Haz - You haven't ironed your keyboard??
I HA4/5 ironing! Can I send you mine, Haz?:)
What a thought! Melted plastic all over the place..
LOL.
You can send me your ironing as long as you haven't left it for ages!
I like washing and ironing but I hate putting the clothes away.
Just measured the pile, Haz. It's 1' 10" high. (That's 2 lots.)
That's a lot of ironing!
I wonder what it would cost to post that pile to you, given the new postal rates...
Haz - It's a normal amount for this household. I have about the same amount drying on the airer, too.
People going past the window would conclude that I've gone mad. I'm sitting estimating what that looks like. Fishermen measure horizontally, I'm measuring vertically.
ROFLOL, Haz!
morning
hi scatty
When I was growing up our next door neighbour was, shall we say, less enthusiastic about than my mother. She once asked, in all seriousness, whether my mother was taking in washing for other people, as she couldn't fathom how one family could need so much done.
I've just been to see if 'Hunting Cat' wants to come back in and finish his breakfast. He went out to scoff his latest dead mouse in preference to the 'Whiskas' offered. He is now sitting on top of the barbecue... Surely he's not cooking it??
Can you imagine what barbecued mouse is going to smell like?
Haz - re. the ironing etc. I'm often heard to exclaim, 'How can one family wear this much stuff? I'm sure the neighbours are sneaking their things in, too!'
My eldest daughter is now teaching P1 and regularly comes home with paint over her clothes. The children get to wear aprons, but not her!
A little Greek letter is lurking in the grid...
I don't know why cat food manufacturers don't do flavours like 'mulled mouse', 'stewed blackbird' etc. I'm sure the cats would prefer it!
Haz - Know what you mean about the paint-spattered clothes. My daughter was an art student.
Hi Scatty, Douglas et al.
Douglas - Thanks! I hadn't sp**ted that until you mentioned it.
Non-greek scholars are waiting hopefully for a bit more of a hint. You're such a tease, Douglas.
Haz - It's an i4/4.
"Little" was definitely a hint, as the letter (in lower case, anyway), is the littlest Greek letter, requiring only one stroke of the pen...
Gosh, I never knew it was a greek letter. You live and learn.
There is also an e - we have a brand of peanut butter and potato chips with this name
done!!
Well done, Fran!
Well done Fran - I still have heaps to go. So I've got something to do while eating breakfast tomorrow. Nite all
Well done Fran!
night angb!
Angb - I'd got the 'e', but you made me look over there again and I found the Sicilian volcano & plural.
'Night Angb.
There, after much searching and dithering about I've made a selection
I'm halfway to halfway, but out of ideas. Time to break out the list and the monkeys!
Greek letter but no Greek cheese. It's been gone for a long time.
i can't believe i didn't have the volcano until i went to the list!
Haz - It was in one of the WebBoggle grids last night.
(The cheese, that is.)
And did you leap gratefully upon it, like the cat on the pre-barbecued mouse?
Yup! I still can't find out who my team mates in there are... one plays as 'team babble' and the other as 'Team Babble'.
would anyone like a clue before i head off to quote-puzzler?
A mystery then? Can you tell by their playing styles or anything?
Fran - I'm okay, thanks.
Haz - No. There's no chat in WebBoggle.
If you sign in under the team name your scores get joined together.
No individual glory then?
thx Fran, have a goodnight
jac, i think hurshy plays, not sure who else.
night all! see you tomorrow.
Haz - No, but it's good fun when you shoot to the top of the score list by working together.
'Night Fran. Sleep well.
Good night FranMag - don't feel you need to work too hard on quote-puzzler.....
You also get a list of words that you found and no one else did. Babblers do well at that!:))
'night FranMag
I'll have to check it out sometime. Husband will be delighted to hear I've found another word puzzle.
Haz - Hursh put a link to it in BabAnon under 'General'. I was playing it months before but it was no fun without team mates.
Well, time for me to do something useful so I'd better take myself off again. 60 to find for later. Bye all!
'Bye Haz. See you later.
bye haz
taking a break, back soon
Bye for now Andree
See you, Andree.
Bye Haz
metal - is that Escher work of yours a brooch?
no, just a print. but wouldn't it make a lovely brooch
I love your icon.

Lucy's coloring agent is he5/12 and the plural is he6/21

at least some of the time
ohhhhhhhh metal said a word :)
metal - you mean to te5/10 us, you te6/18.
eeee.
sorrrrry
and I didn't even see it until you pointed it out to me.... I need more caffeine
wurdy - I should have said ne8 = the nullifying of something.
Okay. 57 left to find but it's time I began that ironing. BBL. Happy Babbling!

Shelties are beautiful creatures. I dogsit for my sister who has 2. They are both trained as therapy dogs, and one of them does that reading program with the kids at the library.
LOL, Mr. P!
thanks atalante!
TY, TY! Good Morning/afternoon/evening/past your bedtime.....

Andree, the dogs sit with the kids, and they actually put their paw on the pages and listen as the child reads to them. It's been a very successful program

m3- drop the last letter on the 6 after it or add a vowel to the 4 before it
Hi jai!! long time!! Hi metal!
thanksx
My mother had a Keeshund - and she did groom, spin & knit it up !
Hi, Mr.P! Yes, my Dad died, as you probably know, and I havn't felt much like chatting.
sorry to hear that jai - I didn't know
Oh jai!! I am sorry!! I didn't know!
i'm off to the doctor's- 33 left -s's and p's- good luck everyone
Ty, Wolvie- it was suddden and he was only 71....
see ya beebee!! best of luck!
good luck, beebee Jaianniah, my heart and prayers are with you. I lost mine in January -- I do understand {{{ jai }}}
jaian- i'm so sorry, i'll be thinking of you
jaia - (((HUGS)). I know how it feels.xxx
I lost my Dad when he was young too - not quite 67 - long time ago tho - still haven't quite gotten over it
(((((ch1212)))))) back at you!! TY....
bye beebee
sorry to hear about your Dad as well, ch - hugs to you
So sorry, Wolvie- do we ever really get over these losses so much as adjust to them?
I don't think we do get over it, jai - just adjust as you say.
TY Jac and beebee
and back to you, wolvie... My momma died in 1981 when I was 25, and I still think of her every day. I have, as you said Jai, 'adjusted' but there is a space in my heart where her spirit lives.
My sympathies jai
Wolvie - I lost my Dad 3 years ago on 23rd November after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was only 72. I still think about him every day.
Oh, ch, how horrible to lose your Mom so young....that really is terrible....
ty, metal ((()))
my dad managed to kill himself 2 weeks before my university finals ... nothing like that to defocus the mind!
so many losses here - everywhere I guess. sorry to hear of them. I still have my Mom - she'll be 80 in Dec.
I agree Wolvie. The pain of losing my parents (daddy in 1972 when he was 73 and mama in 1979 when she was 63) is still with me, I just deal with it better than I used to do.
Jai, I'm not the age matters ... our hearts grieve at any age. My natural dad died when I was 9, and my mom was blessed to remarry my "heart dad" who went in January. With all three, the grief was the same. Atalante, {{{ hugs }}}
oh Ata {{{Ata}}}
OMG Atalante!
It does get less painful though, except when some silly little thing catches you unawares. My Dad has shown he's still keeping an eye on me in lots of ways... for instance, I wonder where a tool or something is, or what tool to use to do something, and the tool or the answer is suddenly there. I feel warm inside when that happens.
Oh Atalante!! what a tragic thing for you!!
oh ata - how horrible - so sorry
same here, Jac - Dad's are like that. :-)
Ata - oh, how awful! (((HUGS)))
I think I was more mad at him for messing up my finals for a long time! But ... time *does* heal, you do adjust and move on, whatever happens ...
Yes- I have had some strange things happen...it is like he is trying to help me adjust....and know he's still there for me....
on a different note - I can't get the grid to take Po 6/24 's plural - it is an e, isn't it?
Wolvie - no, an 's'.
there is no 6/24 pl.
That's true, Atalante. I read a wonderful book by Judy Collins about her son's suicide, and she wrote that something like 75% of us have someone who killed themself in our family. Two of my cousins did. She wrote about how it affects everyone, no matter how distant. But I think losing a parent that way has to be the hardest. {{{ again }}}
okay - we are talking a different po 6 then - no way to add an s to K2CO3
nope
okay - jai - I must have misunderstood a clue.
oooh ch1212, ty. I haven't used my chemistry knowledge (what little I retain) in years
is there a po 7?
po+ kid between 13-19
ah. thanks
then pl. that for po7
morning all :)
its not easy! it just messes up the whole situation - you can't grieve cos you're angry and upset and don't understand what happened. but acceptance does turn up eventually and life carries on!
hi rae
morning raelite
thanks jai
Not, it is not easy- my poor Mom has had to do so much paperwork it is incredible....
anyone have a clue po6/24 the second last one on Lickety's list
hi all -so sorry about your dad jai. It's always sad to lose a parent. My dad died almost 9 yrs ago at 72. He ' hugs' me when I'm low & some people ( including me till it happened!) think it's creepy but I love it! Keep him close, those you love are always there for you
Sorry Wolvie. I was talking moonshine!;)
I hear you ata - 1988 was a curve ball year for me - it took awhile to adjust
Col, look below
sorry colhad, not there yet
yeh, got that one, there is another
it's odd tho jac - k2co3 with an e IS a word. le sigh

annie when we drove across northwestern NY state, I felt a genuine thrill to see a sign saying "New York City" and giving the mileage. It's a city I've heard of since I was a kid. I thought of you too :)
ch, glad to hear that you thought of me, that is nice, how are you settling in?
Pretty well, so far. I'm expecting the cable guy anytime now. My beloved is really enjoying his new job, and I've started the search process.
The leaves of course, are incredible!!!
We keep hearing the leaves haven't even started yet, but right now they are better than Idaho's autumnal peak!
ch1212, now that you are so close to NYC you can visit and see all the great sights...happy your beloved likes his new job, so important, and good luck on your search!
Thanks, annie
ch1212, October is glorious in New England....my daughter lives in Ct. and I love to sit on her deck and just look at the trees....even in Brooklyn the foliage can be awesome
I grew up in Manhattan and it is worth a trip one day
I live in CT and I've read that the folliage peak is getter later in Oct. It used to be Columbus day but it's now a week later
We went for a drive Saturday and took photos. New Hampshire is about 15 miles away, and Ct. is about an hour's drive. Oh, Manhattan! I would love to go but only if we DO NOT drive -- too scarey.
Hello Babblers, the who's Online list says "Pen" is online right now. Would the REAL Pen please say something? My husband used to play babble by that name
bichon, your puppies are adorable!
thanx, but puppies they're not. The remaining one is 12 1/2 [but they do look young
oh sorry, cable guy here --- happy hunting!
Hi, just finished the grid. Hello everyone
bichon, I'll be going to CT the end of October so should catch the leaves at their height
is there someone in the grid named PEN
by ch
Hi bubba
Hi Bubba
Has anyone here ever spoken to PEN? Would love to know who he is.
Inge, I have never seen PEN in the chat log
He haas top ranking yet I have never seen him in the chat log. Right now he is supposed to be online. Pen is my husband
s name, you see.
Hi bubba, congrats on finishing. I'm just getting started again
hi pida
Hi Annie, et al
inge - pen could be female....
how many words today.
how many words today.
inge, could be that your hubbie has a secret life in babbleland?
211 words
211
any clues for the 10?
oh boy, I only have 53 so far but thanks.
Extend the extension an5/20
an 10 is taking of land illegally
bichon, thank you!!!
morning
he, he, then he wouldnt be helping me with my words whenever I am out of the house. Right now he is repotting plants at Matthei Botanical gardens, not near any computer
hi laurel
the 10 is what Hitler did in the Sudentenland back in 1938
ty
*Sudeten
thnx, bichon & inge
yw
yes Haz, Pen could be female. I think it is odd that Dr. God let someone else use that name after my husband played with it for several months last year.
Hello babblers!
Hya, Tingy
hi tingy
got to clean hampster and bird cages, back later
Bye inge.
so, anyone else in the midwest that had to deal with the storms last night?
east coast here, it is starting early in chicago, Laurel
No, but we need a storm, klaurel. It is dry and record hot here in missouri
oh, yeah. it was REALLY nasty last night. It tore my trellis right off the wall and did a number on my clematis
Our leaves usually change in mid to late october, but they are peaking now this year
In Chicagoland area, no cell phone and no cable tv, but the computer works so am able to babble
lordel
my husband discovered the caulking around one fo the windows was bad when the storm just pounded the thing until it leaked
lordel---I'm just joining to say hi
wow, i didn't know that there were such severe storms last night. On the morning news shows I didn't see anything.
Hi lordel
hi lordel
lordel----oh yes I'm a woman
OOOOH, mary, you are in one of the bad areas! I was lucky to only have only had a sporadic power failure (about 2-3 minutes, multiple times)
pebble, I love your bio
I am in the Western Burbs, Mary
i live in the Niles Area and it was hailing it seemed for a long time
our sidedrive was coverd in ice
Pebble - http://www.nbc5.com/news/9988740/detai l.html
really bad ,and more to come tonite
Yeah, it was nasty when I read the warnings last night and it actually mentioned our village!
I hope it won't be as bad tonight
it was REALLY bad last night
*outrage*
LORDEL HAS TO QUIT TO GO TO BIBLE STUDY-----jOHN 8:1--------------------
enjoy bible study, Lordel
I hope it will be a calmer night for all of you out in chicagoland
thanks, annie
bye lordel
I haven't had the TV on this morning, guess I's better catch up on what's going on in the midwest. Hope things aren't worse tonight.......
hi all
morning chj
hi chj!!! here's lookin at ya
hi chj, love the icon
thanks, guys! Keep your fingers crossed that we survive tonigt's storms
pida, i see you changed your icon again. My daughter loved the ent one
64 mph gusts last night - in Chicago!
Chicage- the REALLY windy city
:) Normally not that bad, actually. I think Chicago isn't even the windyest city in the US
Hi Chj, how was Idomeneo? Now I have to check weather reports. Usually Detroit gets what Chicago had day before.
hello
hi jand
*jane
Inge, I think it formed from the Northwest this time
pebble, thnx, I liked the Ent also
idomeneo was great inge...not my favorite mozart but not bad
this one is cool. I also like your poem. Florida is becoming very populated. I grew up there and remember how it used to be.
Yeah, pebble, more and more people are moving into Florida. It's about time for me to move out
well, it seems that same storm quiietly skirted SE Michigan and is past Cleveland already
Pida, lots of empty space in Michigan right now
When I was a kid, I lived in Stuart. It was a tiny town with nothing more than a Dairy Queen. We had to go to a different town for school. Now it is acres and acres of subdivisions and strip malls.
I love the UP. I spent a summer on Isle Royale
When I was a teenager, I lived in Brownsville, a suburb of Arcadia. No one had heard of Arcadia until the hurricanes in 2004
inge, it's too cold in Michigan......
my mother wants me to move back to Florida. She finds it unthinkable that I would prefer the midwest.
I was born in Seattle, but left at about 3 yr old. I would love to go back there, or in the Oregon area
i'm going to retire to Seattle
great
dagnabit
that's beautiful country, but, like florida, lots of people want to live there too, so it is getting crowded
well, hopefully in 34years when it is time, it will be okay
I know, but I don't want to live in a city, so maybe there's still room in the country for me
by the time you retire, Praes, they won't be any empty land anywhere
Maybe Alaska!!!!!
tosh, there's plenty in montana
oh yes there will be. There better be at least 5 acres, cosindering i've already purchased it.
There is always room for Babble players here in the nNorthwest. . .
ooh, a planner
have to these days. The future is nothing but a planned experience. The more you plan, the better it is
Mid missouri is just about right for now. A little bit city, a lot country. Columbia is a University town, which gives us culture, but there are still a lot of stars visiible on a clear night.
In my life it's been,"the best laid plans of mice & men.......Something always comes up
pretty much, Pida
time does change things
That is so true, pida!
planned on that too. Thats why i got the land already
istanbul was constantinople, now it's istanbul not constantinople... even old new york was once new amsterdam...
Where is it located Praes
I want to live in Korea and teach english when my husband retires
talking heads and john steinbeck are in concert here n babbleland
they might be giants, actually
is it too early to ask for clues? th8?
too early to ask for clues??? nah
Well, it's never boring here in Babbleonia !!!
th 4/5 + I *** the whole thing
(but stick an n in there)
thanks.....

sometimes leaving out punctuation is dangerous
I know what you meant.

hi folks. Stuck on sa6/21 and the word before it. Any clues?
still battling with this an10 - sent out for chocolate reinforcements!
sa6 like author truman except first letter
Do you have the an5/10? If so, build on it, chris
the word i have before it is spanish for holy... but i need 4 more s from that box so...
I meant an5/20. Sorry!
no not 5/10
yeah
:)
That's obviously where I'm falling down - no an5/10!!
Thanx, hurshy!
Or an5/20!
I can use that AN 5.20 too. :)
have you read about the an10 of the sudetanland by germany before wwii
oh, and the AN 10, would be helpful
is normal word
chris, the 10 is the process that cities and school boards employ to acquire additional land to add to their tax base
OK. Think of an extension to a building. Or one country nicking a bit of another.
Got them!!
or that tom delay uses to try to maintain republican domination
well done, chris P!
thanks, guys!
but when you call it "redistricting" it doesn't sound as bad
for some reason, I just didn't connect the dots
jerrymandering is a phantom?
does that word actually exist, hurshy?
Hello all
there's your problem klaurel, you have misunderstood the game - you have to connect letters, not dots
define "exist", hydra
Redistricting sounds worse, because you know that is just for political domination
Hi there, ladynoire.
but an10 sounds so nazi-ish
morning lady
the AN10 just sounds like adding an unincorporated area to your town or village
Hi lady
They are doing a lot of that in Naperville and Plainfield, etc
gerrymandering, gadarene.
hmm, i dunno, it must just be me, it makes me think of nazis and klingons and stuff - x is such a harsh looking letter
I sit corrected
(now we'll find out if torgone is here)
I need one of the last 5/12,6/21 combo, please

i know, it doesn't matter, we just like to te5 each other
I'm fairly new here, but I'm cathing on quickly
i like star wars too, don't get me wrong, but as torgone knows so well, i do NOT like it when people mix them up
=+
I'm not mixed up, my fingers are!
hi tor!
star WARS happened a LONG TIME AGO in a galaxy FAR FAR AWAY, star TREK is in the FUTURE in OUR galaxy.
Good timing, eh?
just so everyone is clear.
how big is a galaxy?
youre the jack benny of babble torg
He's dead . . .
big
so the episode I watched last night was really really early in TNG -- characterizations were still being explained in the dialog... and they went to rescue a colony that had been devastated except for one square mile with a house and two people....
usually a couple of hudred thousand light years
ooh, or is this a joke
and the woman was a robot but didn't know it, right?
i know which one you mean stid
Thats a remake of an old original ST episode
how big is a galaxy? i dunno, ask yo mama, she ate one for lunch
Not exactly a robot, but a construction of the not-man who was apparently immortal and couldn't stand losing her
my fave was the one with the traveller
lady refers to "requiem for methuselah"
I liked that one
hurshy! be kind to Mamas!

but thanks!
nestea is in the grid, but its not a word. But it fits in the place of the word I need... help please?
the ne6world

only nestea would only be 6/18 so it doesn't TRULY fit there.
*curses her sticklishness*
10 left - all t's . . .
I am at fifty, and going back to my sewing, at which I am MUCH better and really ought to do more often...
go torgone go!

hello all
annes
Heya mab ..
i'm doing well. thanks for asking. how about you? hi chj.
crap!
211 word headache
blood, are you perhaps a phlebotomist (sp)?
hi bloodaxe, sewing but keeping my eye on the log. How are you today?
oh, mabbity mabber, how are you?
what ax5?
Hi bloodaxe, thanks to Stid I understand your icon now. Is that really the flag of Morocco? Seems so un Moslem
oh no, you're a student.
no ax5, an5 which has a x in it
nevermind
lol
nice picture stid! i'm doing good. How's the costume making going?
Hi Stid, didnt see you in the room right away.
better a little hursh
Ah, thanks, Hurshy. Poor Blood, we can't call you by your sharper name today!
that's good to hear, been worried
hi inge!
actually inge, the red represents the red earth of Morocco, and the green of the star represents Islam, and the 5-points are for the 5 pillars of Islam.
Bless me, Blood, did you write to Dr. God? I see your icon!
Hi mab!
hi torg
just finished the last cuff on the shirt, just need to add a few buttons and I am done with it. (well a little trim on the pants when we get them -- not going to make pants by hand!)
Nice to see you ..
point total please?
what are you going as stid?
hurshy, I read about tesselations last night in re escher. interesting.
2529
2529
I don't go to events where there are lots of children. I'll stay home and enjoy the peace and quiet while Tom takes them!
i know a tesselations song from square one
i'm sending him a message right now ank. Stid had the grand idea that we all use the Moroccan flag as our icon until I get a flag.
Txs for explaining flag lore, Blood. Hey, I'll do it -- you don't think he'd get mad, do you?
i have to admit, i didn't know what they were...
"shant" is so a word!
WHAT is this blasted wrod
word
drop the N, firefly
Yes, dear *patpats Firefly* of course it is.
thx klaurel, but i have that one
ah
hey, watch it Ankh! :P
done
did i beat you tor?
nope
YAY hurshy!
am i getting better or is this grid just not so bad
as in "I shant be long" (spoken when leaving and coming back soon)
YAY tor!
*hee hees at Firefly* Aww, I know how it feels!
well anyway i made it listless
But it's "shan't be long," contraction of shall not, so you can't have it. No apostrophe in the grid.
yay, ankh stickled for me
rah for torgone, even though hurshy was listless
i don't know how he's feel about it ank. We would all be aware that it is a very friendly sort of protest, just in good fun. but i've never talked to Dr_God so I don't know how he'd take it.
YAY Hurshy! YAY Tor! YAY Inge! I hope that gets me caught up. :)
rah for hurshy just because and because she was listless
Hmmm. Well, maybe I'll hold off until he's had a day to consider your email. :)
i just sent it. I'll let you know when/if I get a response.
Bloodaxe, Dr_God is a sweet, santy-claus type of person. He is nice and I think he would find our peaceful demonstration entirely neat!
alright Ankh, maybe you're right then...apostrophes, darn them
epscuse me but i think i can say with utter certainty that doc would so not care if people make the flag their icon.
inge finished? and I missed it?
blood, take to dr. g-d; he will get your flag.
sweet and santa-clausy? i was thinking more computer geek oblivious to matters pertaining to sensitivity
hahaha..santy-claus type, stid? i know have a very neat image of Dr God.
i want to hug him.
i think that's more stid projecting than anything, blood.. :)
stid thinks everyone is sweet because she is sweet.
I guess I think of him with a beard. Don't know why, it's not a melodramtic Jovian beard or anything.
well, he's about half my age, I think -- but he's always been really nice and responsive when I write to him.
Dr G's icon is that of ZZ Top Blood, still want to hug him??
oh, bosh, blood, he's just a precocious 12-year-old
lol
(man, do I have the wool pulled over hurshy's eyes)
He's 20??? He's a baaaaby!!!
where's artlady, she could tell us how old doc is
12!
ZZTopp -- maybe THAT's how I got the beard idea?
my x-ray eyes see right through your wool
LOL Dr_god is in the chat room (his name has Morocco next to it...)
refresh and you can see that blood I am with you man
regardless, anyone who would have to have a menacing side.
he must be trying to see if he can get it to work
Bloodaxe! you have a flag!!!!!!!!
Thank you Dr_god!
yup there it is
YAY!!!!!!
Dr God is great!!!
dr. g-d works in mysterious ways
hey doc, whose depiction of you is more accurate, mine or stid's?
Belated congrats to hurshy!
yay, flags
wow - there IS a god - cool -- hi everyone
now do i keep my icon, or go back to puppies?
haha..hi deb.
your choice
maybe we should all be ZZ Top in honor of Dr_G
Hooray for Bloodaxe! Hooray for Dr God! Good morning all.
hi debb!
I just changed it as soon as you got your flag blood
hahahaha..brilliant!
(blood - i was with you in spirit - but i can't change my icon cause i'm superstitious)
thanks for the support wurdy.
no problemo since I can't find any more words anyway
Here, it's not a flag, but I changed my profile AND my icon...
well if the mets were in american central I'd find a yay to get you to change your icon deb
it goes nicely with your handbag
dang it all, he went away
:-)
dr_G is sneaky, hurshy!
wow ank, and even CUTER hamster. I didn't think it was possible!
12-year olds are like that -- very busy
it must have been your icon along with your plea that got me the flag.
very cute, ankh!
*climbs up off her hamster knees*
awww, come on! THe Star Trek Weapon of Choice should be a word!
Thanks for the compliments, Blood... he just musta been waiting for your own request! :)
okay bloodaxe -- all the red is making my eyeballs go swimmy. Time to find an escherite icon!
klaurel - i was just thinking the SAME THING!!!
*hugs klaurel*
I made a wee flag for him about ten days back... wonder if that's the graphics file he used.
*and firefly*
thanks for dedicating your icon to my struggle stid. it is greatly appreciated.
thx hursh, i knew you'd understand :)
*waves little Moroccan flag in celebration*
Of course... to be honest... the pentagram is so small and the flag so red, you kinda look... err... Socialist.
Congratulations Bloodaxe, you have a flag!!!
okay, here's MC
ok, back to puppies.
thanks inge!
*changes icon again and wonders if anyone will notice hamster dye job*
my kid has been sleeping for two hours. Going to go check on him. back later all!
back to see if I can finish this off...
hi wolvie!
hey blood - you have a flag - cool!
Bye Stid... I gotta go for a while too ... congrats again Blood, don't forget to send him a followup note! :)
bye ankh
bye stid.
bye ank.
thanks again to both of you.
i do wolvie. i just got it. it's brand new and shiny
i dont think I have found a word in 20 min
now why is "panner" not a word? like one who pa4 gold?
I found two at ten min apiece... that's why I'm leaving the desk for a while! *POOF!*
back to work I guess. can someone clue the ae6/21 please? I can't figure our the "gas" clue.
very cool, blood. :-)
my monkey's must be fasting too.
I ain't comin out of the corner to comment on folk's monkeys... ;-0
ae is alt spelling of et5
ae clue: gas they used in olden times to put put patients in the operating room, diff. spelling , the real spelling appears in et words
oh inge, don't be so judgmental
*put out *
is the ae spelling the real one then
haha..thanks inge. I have both of them now.
they are both valid.
and now you've hurt the poor ae's feelings.
they should appoint a babbler committee to determine final spellings!
i agree that the common spelling is the et
but both are valid not just in babble... babble can't just pick one...
Nah, ae's are so snobbish they don't care what you say.
why not? aren't we a force to be counted with???
kid is okay, just exhausted from the virus, I think. *sigh* parenting and worry go hand in hand.
etymologically speaking, ae is in fact the more valid
I prefer the ae
inge can you help me find the middle pa's? I'm missing the 4th pa5 and the 4th and 5th pa4's
"common" is right -- vulgar in the latin sense! AE is prettier
good to hear stid - and i agree
the 4th pa 5 is what men wear, plural
hetty - my 4th pa 5, and I have them all, is a pair of pa***
how many Pa's does one woman need hetty? LOL
pa 4: pa + snake + vowel, the other is p + cinders
the 4th pa 4 is like the ph 5, just no h
inge got the 5th. :-)
T%he problem--if it IS a problem--is that the greek alphebet has letters diferent than those found inte Latin, and therefore i our, alphabet. "AE" is one such instance; simplifying it to "e" on the grounds of what it sounds like does an injustice to the original language
brb - must take grady out - he is prancing.
the problem here is that any word with ae throws me
Now.How many what do I need, Stid? If they are what I'm wearing at the moment I have several pairs in my closet a well as on my word list
I am waiting for my three students to tutor in German, if I suddenly am unresponsive, they are here
Ive monkeyed my way into the 2 pa4's. Now--that dratted pa5/12--? The one following what I'm wearing?
Does anyone have the TA6/18?
hetty, the one that is a glue that young children use
do you have the pa meaning thick sticky glue?
or toothpa****
try pluralizing what you are wearing
Gotcha, thanks Minski
Minski - one who ta4
Got it. Thanks.
ta 6: one who sitss in the sun regularly,
No, sorry minski, I alread had that--it's the next pa5/12 down the list. I need the one between the "n" and the "s" pa4's
here are my little sweeties, see you all later
bye inge, happy tutoring
bye inge
pa 5 right after plural what you are wearing is glue word, then
the next pa 5/12 is like holding a pa****, minus the last letter
you can plural the last pa 5/12 for the last pa 6
an 6/21 please
like a deer's an**** only change the l to another letter mag
Wolvie, our wires are crossed. I have every blessed pa except for the p4/ that follows what I am wearing and that precedes a peculiar word rhyming with "pace"--in my list anyway--
Sorr --that should be pa5
uhhh - hetty - I am thru with the pa's - pace (alt) directly follows what you are wearing, the one you want is a pa 4/6 I think, like a ba**, party, if you will. :-)
thanks wolvie
hetty -- the children's plays in England? at holidays I think...
LOL -okay - the very next pa 5/12 after the thing you wear is the glue.
full word ends with what marcel marceau is...
that's the other one I clued, stid - earlier. those are the last 2 hetty. :-)
y/w mag
Thanks Wolvie, I seew the problem. It IS a pa5 I need, but the one preceding, not followng, what am wearing. Ou arev very patient, and I'm now giving up
hetty -- did you see my clue? it's for the one you need!
yep - the marcel one. :-)
hetty - take what you wear, remove the plural, and add a vowel instead.
afternoon, all!
hullo Tea!
hi Tea (ahem)
I've found it, thanks, Stid. What a term for me to miss, with my backgrond
(that's what I was thinking!) {{{hetty}}}
Thanks Wolvie. I nominate you grande dame of pa***mime!
LOL hetty - I have the same problem every day
whew - there's the s's finished - finally
ne 6/21, the first one please
what a difference sleep makes - words are popping out everywhere!
ne6.21 ne**** regions - low/behind
Wolvie, can you help me with the very last two SN words please? 5/12 and 621
thanks lynxxx

sorry wolvie, had to reboot.
no problemo, stid. :-)
yes, he did! and it was funny because Dr_God was here listening in while we were talking about how to get the flag icon... and then suddenly it was there!
Good. Dr God usually comes thru for us
does anyone have the ne 5/12, the last one, pls
te 6/21?
ne 5/12 is ne + not bottom; plural for the 6

scuse me whilst i go morn me cuzins
Only advantage of Fl is being able to grow that kind of stuff!
sp7 spit a cashew and go for a spistachio! LOL
I know, now I'm hoping my avocado blooms this year. Got figs started too.
Lucky I think it's time to cut you off - sp is german wrench!
Well figs I am going to plant next year.
oh fig!
And fiddling I found out I could grow sweet potatoes in a pot!
I'm afraid the only language I know is English but thanks anyway.
I got a couple of seedlings from my sister in Gainsville, she already has had one harvest.
I also have ginger and 32 pineapples
hoot did not know that entschuldige!
I bid you all adieu for awhile; time to relax..
Not brit is english!
sorta
by chic
I thought that was what you were doing chic - later
BUT brit is english - what they call a wrench
have to get the bad leg up again...
bye chixie
ok - bye
chic I follow humbliy..... bye see y...
that's 2 pineapples NOT 32!
bye
bye hoot
I was wondering how big a place you had, Hoot.
BettyAnne - start in lower right corner and make your way to the upper right- double consonant in the middle
In a 1 bedroom apartment now but moving into a house with a yard on the 25th!

I'm going to work on it some more at home, hopefully. : )
I'm supposed to be packing books
thanks for the clue hoot. and thanks for the comment evan. they're my babies!
Thanks hootowl.
Don't forget to share the wealth when your garden is ready to pick. Just don't want any cucumbers.
yw - maybe we'll get one too after we move......
I like cucumbers!
But will probably be mosrly tomatoes. They like to play football with fruit & vegs around here
so do I, but they always grow like crazy, and you can never give away all the excess....
A good tomato fight can be a good thing
Plant Kirbys. You can pickle what you don't eat. They do taste just like regular cukes.
I'll try some
But then they sell them to you at exorbitant prices and they rot before you can eat them!
And if the produce guys haven't done enough damage the checkout people throw them down the conveyor and the pack the under cans. Idiots
I agree.....
then
I've just finished but happy to hang round & give clues for 5 minutes if anyone needs any
Really? Fla has the same problem? I thought it was just this misbegotten state.
Congrats Lynxx!!!!!!!
congrats, lynxxx!
how about the 1st ho 5/12 pls
TY pida
ok lynx - sorry for the venting
Take any problem any state has, and Florida has them worse. Except tornados and blizzards
heres hoping that I got smarter in the last few hours
h**** o'brien, talk show host
and Unea. - Hi Sorry Hootowl - wasn't even aware you were but hope you got it off your chest!
pida I have friends who moved down there from NJ and they haven't found it that way. Northeast doesn't have that problem in general. On-the-job training
But the stuff is all overgrown anyway. Too big, too old and tasteless. Thats how I found the Kirbys. One id just right for 2 and spininess makes them hard to mishandle
NOT sharp, just bumpy
Bye everyone - have fun in whatever you are doing today/tonite
right on hoot, too big, too old, and tasteless describes most of us in Fl
bye lynxxx
bye lynxxx, see ya tomorrow
I figured out that the good stuff gets shipped out and we get the leftovers. Had to go to Idaho to get a decent steak and pizza
Idaho claims they can't get decent potatoes.
Do they sell all the meat down ther without bones?
generally sell the bones and toss the meat
not that I know of. except in Sun City, where no one has any teeth left.
gotta go make a cuppa tea. bbl
Gues I'm just totally spoiled by being an ex NYer. Can get anything & everything there and it's not priced sky-high.

nice. thanks kth, jac, and bichon.
I have most of the big words, it's those pesky short ones I can't find
i know the feeling kth. i usually am able to get the big ones out of the way in the begining and end up with 30-40 small words.
i've been trying to do the grid alphabetically as of late. so i would have a more random remainder when i go to the list.
the 2nd st 5/10?
hi, today is my first day playing, and i have a couple of questions.... in the tile stats, what does 0/0 mean (like the letter 'h' in the third spot of the first column?)
there are no words in this grid that start with that "h"
mscupid, it mean that you have founr 0 or 0 words begining on that time.
BTW, welcome, mscupid!
*tile.
It means there are 0 words that start with that h, of which you have found o.
hi vic!
and welcome MsCupid!
unea, thank you! I was beginning to think I was a complete idiot for not being able to find anything that started with that letter!
Hi MsCupid. It means there are no words starting from that particular 'h'. Click on the link for Angelsong's page for lots of tips and hints for playing the game.
and thank you for the welcomes too!
Hello, Bloodaxe. I see you've got your Moroccan flag.
the 2nd st 5/10?
i did. Dr_God gave it to me today. it was a joyous occassion.
Now you just have to recruit more Moroccan Babblers!
congrats on finally getting a flag!
bichon - 2nd st5/10 is the Latin plural of the st4/4 before it.

ne+slang for a gun+not off
bridges often contain sp**s, ,right betty?
I've got to re-repair a torn jacket sleeve for my ex-hubby after a so-called tailor mended it. I've seen better sewing on wounds done in battle! I shall invisibly mend it using some of my late master-tailor Grandad's thread.
BA, it's the Brit word for wrench too - think of a bridge, sp4/5, and a "bridger"
pida, have no idea what slang for a gun is
the sp 7/36 has pa 5/14 incorporated
double the final consonant bettyanne, then add the one who does it ending
bill ****s, maybe
that does not sound like fun, Jacula. I dislike darning.
there's an expression - put a sp7 in the works
I have that one and it's a 7/32. Am I confused?
sp7/36 - if you intentionally muck something up, you throw a sp***** in the works.

ah, the purity of refreshing dry vodka on the rcks
Sorry nut - no beer - have hard cider?
jac - i like your logic about uranus
Are you quitting now, cybernan?
jilli - voddie makes me sick (even only a glass). I'd prefer a G& T with ice and a slice.
to each her own, jac!
hoot - is hard cider what we in UK call scrumpy cider? It has all sorts floating in it, probably old socks?
gin makes ME sick! So does rye.
NOooooo. Just fermented fruit juice.
is all UK cider alcoholic?
lol...old socks...ha ha ha
They make a wicked one in Vermont and I brought it back from Pa. Then I found the pear here!
ae 621 anyone?
taz - brit spelling of knockout fumes
hoot - now you sound like (I think it was Haz's grandma? Might have been someone else's on here). She reckoned that if she'd brewed a drink from her own fresh-grown fruits it could NOT be alcoholic.
a+et5/12
i love my hot carmel apple cider myself...hot cider and lots of buttershots
well cider and hard cider are two entirely different things!
ty hoot
jilli - that's not the Brit spelling for it, it's the po4/5ic spelling for it.
can i get the sa 5/10 after not crazy
ty jilli
Try 1 part spiced rum, 2 pts buttershotts and 3 pts cream or 1/2 & 1/2. Total decadence!
chicago cubs ron s
sa5/10 - more not crazy. Next sa5/10 - is a saint... sounds like Father Christmas.
mmmmm....i may try that hoot
hoot - what are buttershotts?
father xmas with last vowel changed
butterscotch liquor
ag 5.14 and 6.21 please?
it's a liquer that tastes like butterscotch. Too sweet to drink on it's own but great in mixers
That sounds nice, Nut. Any brand name to give me for a clue how to find it?
jac, sometimes Brit spellings use a Latinate beginning or combo, I've noticed - like mediaeval where in the US it's medieval.
it's called buttershots here, by dekeyper
Any store should kinow what it is if you ask for butterschottes
thank you hoot and jac
ag= secret ag***
hoot, i disagree, did you ever have a butter ni*****?
and plural
evanonut - what do you mix with it to get that drink

I wondered about that hootowl, but I was too delicate to question you...
hoot, I was going to say something if no one else did
He came in earlier when I was watching TV and climbed up on me for a fuss... I noticed a hard bit in the middle of his head. 'Oh no! Not another battle scar!' I thought. I told Paul. 'Looks more like he's got something sticky in his fur,' he said. Then he took him into the utility to wipe said sticky stuff off... but it wasn't. The fur came away to reveal a huge hole (down to the skull) filled with pus. We thought he'd been shot with an air rifle until we found a matching hole only 1" away. It's a wound from a set of top incisors, by the look of it. Vet's for him AGAIN later!
off for a bit, see you later
Well I hope you are all laughing yourselves as silly as I am!:D
by natasha
Hoot! If you are double-jointed, who are we to query your morning starts? :))

I'd have taken her to the vet the same day of the incident, but i couldn't see any wound. she needed surgery three times to simply remove infected tissue. she was soooo sick. But that was a bite into the muscle, hunter kitty will have less of an ordeal i expect.

anyone know where you can still play free boggle
sp6/24 and sp7/36 please
peri, past tense of spit + not she
Sorry! Got distracted by daughter looking for paperclips in desk beside me.
wurdygurl, at http://games.atari.com/playgames/home .jsp

really i used to play on games.com but now they charge for it
jerks
weboggle has free boggle, wurdy. Hi everyone. I''m back to finish
hi pebbles
thanks lb. did not forget about the ginger jam, have missplaced the recipe. I am sure I will find it soon, have been decluttering
hey thanks guys
games.com was bought out by aol...it has been moved to that site i liked you to!
err, i "linked" you to!
wurdy - you can play WebBoggle as 'Team Babble' (so your scores join up with ours) at http://weboggle.shackworks.com/ (Go for the 5x5 grid).
wurdy - seriously? i used to play mille borne there until they "improved" the site & took it away
peri - grhubarb & ginger jam is fab! Will put the recipe in BabAnon soon.
*rhubarb. LOL.
Pebbles, i love your bio!
so into boggle it is not crazy...i don't even let my kids win
feather - well in that case, everyone go to games.com & pay them - i have lots of twx stock
Jacula, never tasted rhubard
time-warner - had it since before the warner
lol helen!
so, scrabble anyone?
rhubarb :)
feather - are you done with the grid?
I started babble to get better at WEBoggle, but now i like this better. Hubby still plays WEB. How do you do the team thing, Jacula?
peri - well don't try eating it raw unless you slop lots of sugar on it first.
hee, didn't do today's grid. i'm on a diet...only grids under 100 words on weekdays.
thank you, lbdawg!
clue for the sa5/10 - have the not crazy one
lol feather - okay no more talking from me - still have 99 to go
need help with st words only have the first 3
12
sigh...i guess i have to go play with strangers then, and hope they don't quit on me halfway through
II'm leaving. More to pack and need to eat food instead of junk. be back at flip
nevermind, its like the Chrismas guy but with an o at the end
to 6/18 last one
pebbles - I prefer the team thing to playing alone! dislike the lack of chat in there though. Also, the site is case sensitive to the team name... so, I might go in as Team Babble only to find 'team babble' in there. So I sign in again to unite our scores. Thing is, I have no idea what other Babblers I am playing with. I have asked in BabAnon, btw, and here on the chatlog.
bye hoot
st4/4 the small words are driving me nuts, can't see the obvious ones
tonat
dont try that at home
who is mario lopez, besides extremly hot?

jacs, did anj show up for this theme day?
hi again everyone
TO - Not that I saw, no!:(
peri, trouser word + 4th vowel
Angb from Australia was here though.
Hi natasha
thanks so much lbd, new word for me
no Jac-we've never played WebBoggle....sounds rather intimidating
last pa6/21 please
pa5/14 please
peri, plural the pa5/12 before it
i played webboggle - if you like that game, a better one just like it is tangleword at iwin.com
plural again peri.
jacs, i've been playing word racer on yahoo - have you ever played?
hi helen
it's better cause it has chat like here, nice people (mostly) like here, ability to rotate grid for different perspectives & different time-length rooms
hey to!
Eva - it's not a bit intimidating if you sign in under (and note the spelling as the site is case sensitive... ) 'Team Babble'. We can whop the rest of them easily! You even get a list of what words you got that no one else did. Babblers are great at doing that! Wonder why? LOL.
lb, don't have that pa5/12
webbogle is bare-bones, i didn't much like it
jacula - are you saying that there are multiple players playing under the same name at the same time?
th8 please?
last 2 words, last pa5/12 and the pa6/21 right after it pretty please
To - Not tried that game yet, no. Have been playing Wordf Mojo on grab.com. Harder than it first appears, especially as it has a US dictionary and doesn't recognise Babble's 'Enable' dictionary words.
peri, another word for head *usually bald* then add hump letter
thatnks so much, lbd, you are the best, got my FIREWORKS
ge /7/40?
tangleword@iwin.com - i'm telling you - it's great!
Well done, Peri!
whoo hoo peri!
wtg peri !!!!!!!
yay peri!
Thanks for the help
Hell - I play tangleword occasionally.
jac - what name do you use?
Natasha, nazi germany...police
YAY peri !!!!!!
th8 please?
I thought that would be a proper noun, thanks lb
Bookworm is still good for as much distraction as you may want though, as is 'Fowl Words' and my fave, 'Wordo'.
see you all tomorrow
bye peri!
nite peri
Night Peri! Cathy, th4 + nickname for nathan
th8 - Have you got th4/5 Cathyar?
Sounds like Kojak's first name.
bye peri
i have 2 th4/5's
hey jacs - do you have an email on babanon?
TO - you can message me through BabAnon by clicking on my name. That will then get to my message box there.
If you want to find me quickly on there, TO, go to the recipes thread.
cathy, there's another th4 sounds like the first part of mans name called Teddy
th + myself + circle letter
hmmm....
ahhh..ty very much pida, lbdawg & jacula :)
th4/5 - Greek for sulphur ( or sulfur). Add Christus et Nat** to that but change last vowel.
somehow i have lost the ability to use babanon...i want to set up a rpofile there, too
hey there can someone pls clue me for the te 6/21 can't figure it out
TO - I just tried to sign in on BabAnon - it seems to be not working at the moment.
Hi helen, like your gazing ball
i don't have it either sheryl
te+circle letter+type of kettle
te + round vowel + cooking vessel. te7/32 is the plural.
hiya pida - ty
ty jacs & pida
I've never had one. Fraid I'd get lost in it
ty yu jac and pida never heard of it before
yw
Hell - re the crystal/gazing balls. Take them in over winter, clean them etc. The still predict then!
We don't have winter down here...
folks, I really struggle with long words in this game, I do have a hard time finding them, is there a tactic for locating the bigger words??
i read the chat log, all the way back to the start
jac - i do take them in over winter - the mirrory-ness is going - from the top down -
well...53 left here, but too tired to continue...nite everyone...tks for the clues
jac - on the inside! - at first i thought it was from the rain
Night Cathy
colhad-sometimes they just pop out early in the game, but a lot of the time if you go for the shorter words first then the patterns appear for the longer ones and teh are often compounds made up of the shorter ones too. And, as Sheryl said, you can alwasy get inspiration from the brilliant clues of others
Hell - it's the rain and damp that does that to them.
I mean, I read lickety's, I try a lot of words, you think you've tried every possible word, and still can't get it
just finished fireworks for me
Hell - how long have you had yours? I've had mine about 5 years now.
col just keep at it
ok, i'm going crazy--can't figure out the ha4/6 either before or after the breakfast food
when i first started i had a hard time finding the bigger words too
are you using the list?
use morewords or a to z for extra help with the big ones
To - if you are still around - I've signed into BabAnon now. You can message me.
does anyone want a clue before i go?
yeh, using Licketey's
then use morewords.com and look up the word that way
the list is alphbetic so you can usually figure out the thrid letter that way
mayha* you don't figure out the word after the breakfast word, Natasha. Add an 's' for the word.
jacula - seriously - the big ones go after 1 summer - i like green, silver & gold ones & at the end of the season they're transparent! this year i got a couple of smaller one - they seem to be holding up better
et 5/12? Can't seem to find it!
ha 4/6 ha + what you put at the end of a letter, when you think of something else to say
Natasha, Perh*** it was overlooked?
well folks happy hunting off to bed, ty for the clues
ha 4/6 hell ha** no fury......
I haver 3 smallish silver ones, Hell.
lol, thanks lb--I'd actually just figured it out
suffering from premature clue requesting...
et 5/12 kind of gas
hi all! Colhad, did anyone answer your question about long words?
good night Sheryl
ty pida 1
yw
too tired to do any more tonight. See you all tomorrow
Hi stid.
gens
nite Sheryl, Eva
Finished those fancy dress costumes now?
good night Eva
Night Eva & Merp.xx
sorry for that sloppy parting shot. Merp says goodnight too-or would if he could stop snoring for long enough
LOL, Eva. Tell him to wish my hunting cat good luck re his visit to vet later re to straight to skull wounds full of pus.
Not finished, but done enough that I have taken a couple pics. Need to make sp5 for the tops of his shoes and add trim to a pair of dress pants to finish.
anyone have the sn5/12 6/21 combo? Not sure which one.
aw eva i miss my kitties....have a good night and see you tomorrow
*two wounds
So, a bite, not a shooting, hopefully. Might be a cat or, more likely a dog, that got him.
sounds like something he was attacking gave him a good fight, eh Jac?
Hi Stid
Eva - his good fights are costing me a fortune!
Tom is trying to find batteries so I can transfer the pics and put them up for viewing...
cool beans Stid
SN 5/12 that was weird for me is s + n** king cole + aitch
ah i see we have fish in this grid
I know-my last cat was quite a huntress and was constantly getting abcesses from rodent bites. Very expensive
I got that one stid, but thanks.
sn 5/12 s + tide, then plural, or sn + I'd r***er be babbling then talking
It's the other that's giving me trouble
There are definitely some advantages to having an indoor cat. My next door neighbor has had two cats eaten this past year
Ea - this is no rodent bite! The squirrel bite to the tail cost 80 quid (British pounds). This is a severe bite to the skull from to big incisors (1" apart).
Yikes! Tell him to pick on something his own size next time.
I'm stuck - en 8/50?
snppng, try sn**king around, but change the last consonant
got it, thanks pida
Eva - my indoor cat never troubles me, other than having a Persian belly (pukes or gets the trots if the slightest thing upsets her) and short legs, so brings most of the litter out of the box when she tries to run away from the 'disgusting thing/s' that have just appeared in the litter box behind her.
wow! poor hunter cat.

en 8 Put your sword back in the scabbard, or a simple black dress
mab - Yes. I'll get him sorted out soon.

jac-LOL-Merp often does the same mad dash away from the litter box....
Meanwhile, mab, we have got all the pus out and bathed the abcess with salt water.
natasha, first four letters of another word for minus sign plus 2000 pounds

Eva - that's why I prefer the white litter stuff - you can see it immediately whem it's strewn around. I must sweep up at least 8 times a day!

mab, yours looks almost like a fractal
when i first moved into soho in the early 70's there was a gallery called the vorpal gallery on west broadway just south of houston street that was the exclusive seller of eschers in ny or maybe the states...used to go in there weekly
Incidentally, Escher was a Southpaw, just like Michaelangelo, da Vinci, Holbein, Durer and ME! LOL.
ans theyre all dead jac

I'm not dead yet, chj!

We artistic types don't go down without a fight!
theres a long way to the series
he seems to have done a lot of patterns that metamophise from one image to another. they're quite interesting and do involve mathematics - tesselations.
7-3 yanks
whait what exactly was the bet? on subway series as i recall
yup
damn i need wireless and laptop
my hot dogs against your philly cheese steaks
mab - Escher was a graphic artist but a designer and pathfinder (artwise) also.
go yanks
my laptop againt what?
so if no subway series, no bet
i like that word...tesselation
If you lot are going to go off to US sport again, I will go.
