baa baa black babbles, have you any babble??
I think the pattern is called "crazy amish star" - found it online
hi colhad
Great icon, helen, but if she was around today, she would be mocked to scorn for her "I'm the saviour of western civilization" attitude...
we have two bunnies in the puzzle....
I have got to upgrade. I would have had an awesome icon clue.
I thought the great Egyptian mummified people would be allowed, starts with ph

Hi, Debb! Too busy unpeeling Hershey's Kiss with Caramel to type....
it feels like we haven't had an -ing grid in ages!
Ooh...yummy...
i haven't been paying any attention to the world series since the red sox were eliminated - who's winning?
that chj! tsk tsk! YUMMY JAI! can i have one ? i'm rooting for the cards jilli - only cause i'll go with the national league team - especially since everyone seems to think the american league is so superior -
so go cards!
what do you think? (cards are up 3 games to 1)
The Tigers winning tonight would have required some significant intervention from the baseball powers that be...
<passes Hershey's Kisses to Debb>
3-1 cards so far
yummy jai - thanks!

Morning dear gang
hello sprite!
Because I'm protesting the ph4 should be in the dictionary, when there are so many worthier words that are excluded...
Hey Sprite!
hello Sprite
the U words are driving me crazy! Someone clued that there is a UP6 earlier. is it up+a valid word?
Morning Sprite!
hi sprite! look, a K!
Morning sprite - 11 k words!

You're welcome April
Well, that's a new word for me...
aha! so not the "up" word my brain was trying to work out. thanks!
sprite, come back - I didn't mean to be mean.
Did you get it Krys?
thanks, frances - what a word
this weekend, I'm going to begin writing the guidelines for cluing that will be added to the resource guide.
ayup, thanks frances
You're welcome jilli
thats a good idea angel
i did not get that up word the cons is the stickler
guidelines for cluing? cluing etiquette?
lol, I am in the naughty corner on my own command, Krys, don't worry ;)
taz 2 pointer
yes, Krys
i didn't know there were guidelines...
I just cannot remember the fish eggs word ever.
Angelsong Are we not doing it the right way?
not a sushi fan?
up and fish eggs i have
I don't mean to complain, but lickety seems to be missing some af's
ty frances
crazy word
please no Douglas
sushi is still not that common in Holland, alas.
Fish eggs sound like to propell a boat
ty frances
Frances...there is no "right" way...I'm just going to have some suggestions for making cluing more uniform and maybe easier for some players to understand
douglas - it's in the "no boxes" version complete with af's
nm, I was looking at yesterday's clues
sprite take your oars and ... down stream
maybe a few standardised clues for the most popular words angel??
I loke the various ways clues are given
not possible, I don't think, mouldy
Angel, please please include the suggestion that spelling out words is NOT nice clueing? (Nor entering the chatroom with giving a word away like I did...)
*like
exactly, sprite.
I like the fact that three people can give very different clues for the same word and they all make sense.
also, i don't know if i'm the only one, but i really prefer clues that are based on definitions so i can learn the words better... usually i ask for definitions clues
yeah, it's interesting we all have our own style
and always put the stats in the clue, so we know which word is being clued
the rebus-style clue is a trend that started sometime in the last year or so
good one, mouldy
just as in many things pertaining to Babble, there are many approaches...some better than others.
Monkeys refuse to find ak4, protest for plantains
good points fran and krys
I like all kinds of clues, defs or cryptic ones or clues that cut up the word in pieces. I also like the variety of clues. I just don't like the "snake, first vowel, cross, second vowel" kinda clues.
concur
douglas - well, then, give them plantains! with honey...
sprite i do not even mind that style of clue
ditto, sprite...I hate "snake letter" clues!
I agree sprite
I like them when I'm totally stuck.
can anyone please give me a clue for the sa 6/33
I always think: well, if that is clueing, just say S A T E and be done with it.
there's a Hawaiian word in the grid...
or post a link to dictionary.com or something
wait a minute
yeah but those clues - well ya might as well just go search through the word lists
lol, I agree sprite. I've thought that many a time. It's one reason I don't chat a lot.
ruthy - no S
never mind, that would show the word
My K-tile is very Startrek atm. Seven of Eleven.
i like finding a word that is in a poem and posting the link to the poe,
^poem
phew thanks fran - thought i had the wrong grid somehow for a second
Sprite, did you find the Hawaiian K?
To show how totally babbled I am: yes, I have the K5/18 that looks very Hawaiian.
fireworks for now im off to work bye everyone
wtg ruthy
wd ruthy!
the one I found is a 6/36
Does everyone get fireworks 1:09 into the grid?!?
Congratulations, ruthy! How does one say that in Welsh?
had my fireworks at 12;10
I have a japanese K6, though
i am a legend in my own mind
only if that would be 1:09 24 hours after the grid opened :P
sprite, there's a K6 that means a Hawaiian healer, but these days it's usually used to refer to a big shot
I don't have your K5 though
still looking no clues yet please
sprtie might you have a clue for k6 the Japanese one
Angel, one more suggestion: that people asking for clues take a little time to consider them after getting them... and not say like 20 seconds later: "I don't get it, other clue please" I hate that :)
Krys ka5/18 ka+abr for aussie jumper
taz: martial art
neat! thanks.
ty sprite and frances
That ka 5/18 should have another r...but then it wouldn't be in the grid, would it?

taz fr7/60 sounds like a broken bone
om ty i never ever saw some of these words
Now that is a strange one! Looks german for broken bone to me.
yes it sure does
ooh, thanks for that fr7 guys!
it's a style of painting that's common in the pennsylvania dutch/german country, so it's not surprising
wot with all the star trek references my first thought on that one was a klingon insult
It's also a font
lol mouldy!
Just found another fish in the grid...

hey wolvie!
brb jumping into the shower
bye faerie
bye faerie -- I hope your water pressure in the new place is as good as ours is in our new place! :)
phantom - ankh
hey everyone good (insert time of day here) since when is afro not a word?
I wondered that too, wurdy
double f?
hi wurdy
It's not that it isn't a word, but it would probably properly be capitalised, and therefore not accepted by enable.
but its a hairstyle
hi wolvie!
phantom: kaput
But it's a hairstyle relating to Africa, therefore capitalised. It's capitalised in my dictionary.
keep that afr going - no o- for the afr 6. :-)
fffpht that is what i say lol
not getting it wolvie
wouldn't it be fun to have a Halloween grid?!
af6 - to be scared.
we should on the 31st. :-)
what haz said wurdy. ;-)
good grief yesterday's puzzle and subsequent tiger game killed all remaining brain cells
don't think we've ever had a theme grid . . . sigh
how many of the Ks are KHs?
how many of the Ks are KHs?
hiccup!
There are four kh words.
I think 4, grace -- that's how many I have so far
4, grace - 3 are 4 letters, 1 is 5
thx!
hey everyone
bleahhhhh, I am not feeling this grid...maybe later
any clues for kh4/12?
hey, kthdsn!
hi kth!
kh 4/12 sounds like a baby bovine.
Back for 10 mins whilst eating lunch
kh4/12 is kinda like a cuppa java
sounds sorta like what you do when you have a cold, liz
or what haz said
hi FM
Hello Fmitch - work keeping you busy today?
Hey Wolvie :)
Hi Haz, it as been but I am runnin gout of steam (thank goodness it's Friday)!!!!
good icon clues, FM
Ah well, hopefully you can be a bit more relaxed this afternoon. Have you finished the grid?
thanks, fmitch (for the clues!)
Yes finished this morning as I knew time would be pressing. yw ch1212
belated congrats FM!
Good for you - 6 to go here.
bl***y weird words today!
ka5/18 to finish the Ks?
I have that as a diamond weight, liz
or gem
ka5/18 - look at Fmitch's icon.
I,ve got the jewel one, it's the second one I need.
lol @ fa4/7, reminds me of my husband!!
The other one resembles the antipodean jumper, minus a few letters.
kthdsn - what? Capital of the Algarve???
thanks haz!
kth - LOL
the smelly one dachef
Fantastic TY.............these words are SERIOUSLY wierd.
You're welcome, Wolvie.
Wolvie, I'm having trouble with your icon clue. The ae I have refers to flight
somehow I knew that was the one you meant, kth. :-)
I know - but it's a short enough grid for it not to be too much of a bind.
LOL Hi Dachef I think kth is referring to the f4/7 that follows that one.
it's the ro 4 - what the tiger is doing - pretty lame for me this morning. :-)
OH..your clue says ae4/4
LOL- I just looked at my account - tells you how long it's been since I upgraded - sorry chiley
all fixed now
thanks for the claification, wolvie -- I was wondering too, and figuring it was the usual case of me not knowing much :)
kth - you should find a good pic and use that as your icon!!
grrr...don't want to go to work....
no no - the usual case of me not doing all I should. ;-)
lmao wolvie I might when I get home
refresh for a great clue! Sorry, couldnt resist that one.
you must admit - it would be interesting!
LOL DACHEF!!!!
pmsl
Dachef I nearly used that one!
shoot - dachef beat you to it kth!
Just what did you google to get that picture?
hi Frances
Hi Wolvie
Good question Haz :)
dont ask. You should know by now that my mind works in strange and mysterious ways.
I was thinking of changing my icon to one of Peter Stringfellow to illustrate ro4/5 but I don't know if he would be known across the Atlantic, and should I be responsible for letting them know that he exists?
I've got ph7...what's the other 7 please?
lol haz
fr7/60
Oh go for it Haz!
fr7... sounds like a german bone break!
go for it haz
But not the one of the thong. That would be too much!
got it...great clue seano..
great clue seano - I would NEVER have gotten that
great clue, seano!
yw any more...fireworks here BTW
you too, une - good one
hurrah for seano!
gj seano
Oh Please! I am eating lunch Haz.
gj seano
oh, and ch1212, good one!
<goes to have a lie down to try and get the image of Mr Stringfellow in a thong out of his mind>
congrats seano!
must...go...to..work...
thanks all, any more clues required??
awww - bye Grace
bye all...
Okay - I rejected the nude picture, he looks almost civilised here.
bye grace -- have fun
bye, grace!
fr7 please, do not know any german
that was lucky, the first thong in the morning stays in your head all day
That is too nice a pic, he almost looks wholesome.
use a 5 pt letter flosey, and drop the last vowel
So you want a worse picture then?
sure - why not?
A little more sleeze and that awful hair style :)
Okay - FMitch, have the bucket ready.....
nooooooooooo not the thong
getting worried now at what Haz might find on google
LOL - this is great for a friday
This one shows off his fashion flair, and his main interest in life.
aww - come on haz - don't be gentle. ;-)
Love that jacket!!!
clue for fa 6/30? (and the 5/18 if it builds off of that!)
fa5/18 - latin animal life, and plural for fa6/30
oh jeez - right in front of me. thanks haz
Thongs aint what they used to be !
lol Frances
Stringfellow has silenced the log!
lol
Wolvie - thanks for the clue, can't believe it took me so long - was trying for a 6 letter word !! duh
I was looking at some other pictures in Google, but on the grounds of public decency I reckon we'll keep him clothed.
glad you got it, flosey. :-)
haz - now you are going to make me google this guy - never heard of him
Be prepared!
I'm quite glad google images is blocked at work, otherwise I might be tempted to take a peek
the gold finger-ish one is funny!
He's a night-club owner, something of a ra4/8, and a bit of a joke figure in Britain.
Scroll on, Wolvie, and you'll find the back view of the infamous thong.
He even has an entry in wikipedia can you believe.
Never! I must have a look.....
LOL - just saw the thong one - definitely NOT buns of steel
The wilkipedia entry manages to sound quite disapproving.
there are some really strange words in here today
I just can't see that fo 6/30 - any clues?
there sure are, yesterday's words were easier
much easier flosey - lots of build upons
Wolvie A smelly word
fo6/30 is a variant spelling of a word that means smelly.
oh - thanks haz !
that finished the f's for me.
And now lunch time - see you later. And glad to help, Wolvie
bye haz
bye haz - thanks for the clues - and the PS guy images. :-)
Bye Haz

1st fa 5/18?
can someone help with ah/5?
just finished monkeying the kh's...what a lot of odd ones!
very odd ones sapphie
how many kh's are there, I have 2
ah5, infront
4 total, kth
Don't go left or right, just straight ah5.
3 - 4 letter words, 1 - 5
thanks kth, how did i miss that???
ty wolvie
1st fa 5/18?
i think sometimes i concentrates so hard on finding obscure words i miss the really obvious ones
fa5,18 sounds like a unit of capacitance.
like fa**** fawcett, only 1 r, then sort of past tense it
I have an fa5/18, it's the beggining of some physicist I vaguely remember from school...
I do that too ragalla
the tr5/18 is eluding me and I didn't understand the earlier clues... help please?
thanks Wolvie
happens to me all the time Rag
yw April
tr 5/18 sounds like the noise a frog makes
ch - not that far yet, and wasn't here for earlier clues, sorry
ah, got it!! Thanks, Ragalla
anyone got the dh 5?
ribbit?
ty ragalla
yw ch1212
thanks Rag!
dh5 sounds like the word "Do your du** to God and Country"
good clue ch
is this puzzle partly in urdu or hindi?
thanks for that
sure sounds like it sam
thanks for that clue ch
And, interestingly enough, it's a loincloth worn by Hindu men... which makes me wonder, is that where the expression about the baby doing a " " in his diapers comes from? :D
ribbit? there are no ribbits in this puzzle, that is the sound a frog makes
another sound, april cr one
think dying frog
April, frogs make different sounds ... including bud...weis...ser
ahh thanks! what an odd one
which, if you drink it, will make you cr***. :-)
ROFL!!
can anyone help me with a fa4/7 - i have the cost of a ticket and the bottom burp
found it
you are missing the game --- same first 3, but end in another vowel
like a fr** house
wrong clue
fa 4/7 fa** along way and a vowel on the end
puka is a word, the sailors use it all the time
bbl - have to run
bye ch

hi samantha thanks for the clue
thanks much samantha! what a word
Annie, it certainly did earlier
april, martial art
oh nm that's a 6/30
Good morning Kate, and wolvie. Yeah, that word is just barely English--I haven't looked it up because I don't *want* to know what it means
LOL
april, I don't have the ka 6/36 yet
those darn K's
kh5 sounds like the bag golfers carry clubs round in!
the grid would be 0k without them
The ka 6/36 is a Hawaiian word. You may not know what it means, but you've probably heard the English expression which uses it--"The Big Ka****", which means the head honcho or the person incharge
Hi everyone. Great clue SamanthaJoy
Thanks. Now let's see to how many people it's actually useful! LOL
hi abe!
Hi Wolvie :)
morning, abe!
thanks again samantha!
Hi Annie!
hmmm
well duh
wasn't I looking for a KH? oh I don't remember
nope, that was the one!
The kh 5 is another weird one--KH + anagram of a word meaning "help"
apparently I got all of those, now just for one ka 5
Think diamond ring, April
not jeweled
How many ka***s is a typical wedding ring?
I have that one
unless it is a variation of it
Diamond? I'm an idiot. This word is applied to gold. There's a spelling difference. :(

Oh, and I've updated my icon to reflect a clue for the KA 6/36.
I will definitely have to find ha** to fix for supper tonite!!
a car?
Dodge actually made a minivan called the "Ka****"
Last time I updated my icon it was with the Volkswagen Thing, so technically I have a trend going.
there are no v's here
i think i'm going to change my icon to a "sounds like" clue for one of the harder words...brb
FIREWORKS!
YAY Wolvie!

8 to go and I'm falling asleep ! at 9:30 a.m.
just that KA 6/3 something. That dodge clue doesn't work, but then again, my monkey fingers have not gone into overdrive
the 36? that's the hawai big Ka***a.
oops the other one
the other ka 6 is a sport with kicking
The *other* one is a martial art
also an old aftershave I think
sorry, 5/18, last one
sounds like a golf pro's helper, april.
I'm signing off for a while. I need breakfast. See y'all later.
the ka?
bye sam
bye Sam, thanks
later, sam
oh - I'm sorry -wrong word

yw april
odd word
puka isn't here but that is?
ok, so this has been on mymind for 45 days. the local radio station is running a contect where you have to guess a sound
the prize is an instant win and is $100 000
all I have to do is get through on the phone to win...but I can't decide what the sound is
the sound of someone pu**ing should be an instant winner
yikes
no, it's a real thing...it sounds metallic. you can check it out on www.zedfx.ca
THIS IS COOL.....
that is a machine, a coin dropping, or a door closing, instant locking
this is cool.....
I think I need some tea
I think it's the handle of a safe closing
hmm
they have had almost 150 guesses, no one knows what it is
it sounds mechanical, powered
yes, I agree....mechanical, metal
wish my hubbie were here, he listens to things for a living
wow what a cool job!
(sonar tech)
like what things does he listen to april?
whales farting
lol!!!
the contest ends today, they are opening the phones at 8am and taking guess after guess

You're welcome, kt.
pu 6/27?
they've guessed penny press...sheet metal cutter
pu: a political opinionater
pu6/27 is one who gives an opinion.
hello
thanks!
One to go.ha5,not the intense dislike.
fo 6/30?
Hello harpjane.
hi Jane
Extend the ha4/6 to get what goes with couture
fo6/30 is smelly, it is usually spelt without the o
thanks kth
that takes care of the 6's
un 5/14?
un5/14 - to take off headgear (weird!)
thanks Haz!
te and ti 5's?
got the ti
The te5/10 is Miss Hatcher with an extra vowel inserted.
hatcher, hmmm who be that?"
ti 5/10 is something that princesses wear on their heads..
oh - you have it...
you could say she's .... desperate?
Dark, thin, Desperate Housewives?
hmmm not a tv watcher, and not that especially....
but Iwill look it up
she also played lois lane
also the name of steve irwin's widow
te plus the first three letters of precipitation.
te+ a choo choo without last letter

I'm missing 2Ps, I have 1ph and 3pu, what else is there
i'm stuck on the ar's ar 4/8 and 5/12...
I don't have any ar's
urf. if there has to be a k, why can't it at least be in the corner
There are three ph words.
And three pu words.
one ph word is the opposite of thin!
just got that one, I also have the long on
and the other ph word - use last vowel
ar5/12 features headgear again.
yey, closed out the bottom 2 rows :D
It looks as if I am going to need a clue for the ta 6,33. Plez.
haz - the pu's i have are 4 and 6....both real words... is the other weird or normal?
ar4/8 - sounds vaguely like a country (but is spelt entirely differently) - look at the points value.
The other one is strange to me, hurshy, although it has a cat like structure, so should appeal to you.
Do you have a clue for the ta 6,33?
good clue haz for ar4/8
ta6 - three letters for the result of sunbathing, two letters being the initials of the countries of England, Scotland, Wales and N Ireland, finish with a vowel.
good morning, can't seem to find one of the or5's. have the or +past tense of ingesting food. Help with the other?
cat like, eh? purrrrrr.... um...

aprild, what's your icon? i like it. what school are you going to? I'm in Montana.
Later kater
sorry can't type anymore
lol
jane, it is a picture I took at a fabulous artsy public garden on Vancouver Island two summers ago. And I go to The Evergreen State College
wild cat ar change consonant... ?? my mind babbles!
bouchart garden?
Okay - try pu4/6 - the first three letters a play on words, then a vowel. It has the first three letters of the pu6 if that is any help.
april - I live about 5 miles from Butchart
nooo, too commercial Jane
I can't remember the name of it now though.
That isn't on the island though is it raelite?
yes, it is on Vancouver Island...my home :)
hmmm didn't go to it on my garden tour, we stuck to smaller less touristy ones.
(I am a member of our local Arboretum unit, we tour around once a year)
did you go to the abkhazi garden?
I think we did raelite
yes, it is very popular, but because it does not have tour bus parking, not everyone gets to see it
though, I can't remember. I know that sounds familiar, but all gardens do, I read alot about them.
there are also the gardens at Hatley Castle and the Kiwanis park
the one in my pictue was really a display garden for their art, they had a shop where they sold their paintings
we went to the school site where there are like 200 acres
that was probably the castle, cuz it was a castle!
yes, hatley castle, you may know it better as the x-mansion in the latest x-men movies
I even saw Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman when they were filming the first movie here
Any clues for the ak4/8? need it to finish a's!
nope, I never saw it before that day.
OK, new tactic. I have six of the nine 6s - af6/30 (scared), fo6/30 (rotten), ka6/36 (the Big), ka6/30 (martial art), pu6/27 (political commentator), ta6/33 (who knows what that means) - what am I missing?
it was enormous!
up6/27 doesn't appear in your list...
You need fa 6/30
fa6/30 also needs to be included
Care to clue, Haz?
ao6/18 deserves a place.
fa 6/30 is Latin plural
Got the AO now, Haz, thanks...
up6/27 - up plus a reworking of the one who weeds. It is a very strangely structured word!
One who weeds?
haz - am I really stupid or what? how do you fit the wild cat in with the ar?
Got the fa6/30 now
Yes, or an equine minus the s.
Still need the up6/27...
up + fish eggs with h in the middle
You're confusing two clues, ConXshun. ar5/12 features the headgear, pu4/6 is the word that resembles the wild cat, except for one consonant.
thanks Con, crazy word!
lol!!!!
what's the other U besides that 6 and the 4 babblet?
up6/30 - it ends with fish eggs....
un5/14 is the other.
yw munner. Haz.. the headgear is doing me in..
hi all
hello chj

Well done! I was beginning to run out of ideas on that one!
Why were the suspenders arrested?
Thanks Haz - strange word!
hurshy - it looks like a German medic's diagnosis of a broken bone.
hurshy, it sounds like what it is called when you break a bone

ak 4/8 : a tropical tree, Blighia sapida, of the soapberry family, cultivated for the edible aril of its seeds.
I'll try and remember this.
Yes, I thought it was Blighia.
soapberry - mmm yum (?!)
There's another good enable word - aril
Aril is a common crossword puzzle word.
as is afro which is not allowed in this gird, hmmm
Now we all know it's edible (aril) but it sounds soapy.
Maybe bubbles come out of your mouth if you chew soapberries.
Maybe that's what they put in the purple gum that I like.
What kind is that?
It's not sold commercially anymore. You get it at candy shops.
It used to be called "thrill"
...or trills
The first pass got me only 43 words. Time for the list. How are you doing earth?
up 6, 27 pls
I don't have it yet--but I am looking now.
I have 68 left. I am working on up6. THere was an earlier clue up+cons+fish eggs. I am missing the cons part of the clue
up 6,27 : up + silent consonant + fish eggs
earth, that cons is the only onepossible to get the fish eggs afterwards.

Ta 6\33 : Ta**** (狸 or タヌã‚, ) is often mistakenly translated as raccoon or badger, but ta**** s are in fact raccoon dogs (Nyctereutes procyonoides), a canid species native to Japan. Ta****s have been part of Japanese mythology since ancient times. The mythical ta**** is reputed to be mischievous and jolly, a master of disguise and shapeshifting, but somewhat gullible and absent-minded.

The Genus Blighia, which consists of some four species of evergreen tropical shrubs and trees, is named in William Bligh's honour. The most commonly cultivated of these is Blighia sapida. Captain Bligh provided specimens to the Royal Botanical Garden at Kew circa 1793. Although some sources have credited Bligh with its introduction to the New World, history indicates that this West African Native was likely already established in Jamaica, probably arriving as a seed secreted away in a slave ship some years earlier.

krinstinc! Are you saying ducks are into S &M? If so, you are quite wrong. Moorhens on the other hand. might raise 5 or 6 chicks, but they then bash up and bully at least 4 of them to their deaths because they realise they can only hope to raise one or two chicks to adulthood. How cruel is that? I will never sit bside a lake or pond again and look at them with their strin g of babies behind them and feel the same again.
ok, back for a few (cooking supper)
um...fyi, the two post we're completely unrelated but your post is funny nonetheless :)
I like to think we are always family friendly, kristi -- just that at times we let the family fend for itself and prove that it is capable of acting in a mature manner (unless the family member in question is a young 'un)

Church organist Miss Beatrice was an 80-year-old spinster. One afternoon, the vicar visited and she took him to her sitting room. He sat down and noticed her old Hammond organ, on top of which was a glass bowl filled with water. Floating in the water was a condom.
Do you want me to go on with the joke?
think the yankees would like to have jeff weaver back?
hi, all-- jilli-- who is the ro4/5?
yes please, jac
can't stop now, jac! not right to just walk away from a floating condhom

So I guess that means the Cards won the World Series finally.
Well done Kristinc!
silly baseball "riddle" I heard years ago: there are 3 little old ladies at a baseball game & they are drunk; from that info, can you say what inning it is & how many on base?
maybe the Bishop of Chichester...
i've had the damn flu since tuesday night
alrighty, promised to spend the evening with my patient hubby. Thanks for the help all. Hope see folks tomorrow!

Yadier Molina has been one of the unsung heroes for the Cardinals...Wainwright warming up...
bottom of the fifth and the bags were loaded\
bye kris
beat me to it, libarebel
you heard it GW!
reminds me of my all-time favorite album cover...there was an organist by the name of dick hyman, no joke, about the time that the man from u.n.c.l.e. was on tv, and he came out with an album called "dick hyman, the man from o.r.g.a.n."
Stupid joke just told, I know. But ou can't help laughing at it can you?
lol, chj!
A saucy baseball joke. ..some American guys take a Scotsman to his first baseball game. They try to help him understand pitching, balls, strikes, scoring, etc.
now bottom of the 8th and no bags are loaded, not even this old lady
Has anyone noticed that Taguchi is number 99?
helen, I've had it since sunday
He didn't seem to catch on, but was enjoying himself. Every time someone got a hit, he'd jump up and yell "Run, alddie, run!"
(Make that "laddie")
lib - have you gone to the doc?
Gotta go for now - still have 29 to go -- I will be back soon
lol jili
bye gw :)
did anyone do the ny times puzz today

there was a clue "Chutzpah"
gall
lib - that's good - i went & got meds, i feel bad, i just don't know it so much :)
Five letters and i had B for the first letter and S for the last
i thought will shortz had lost his mind
not strikes
So the pitcher starts to lose his control and walks a batter. When the runner slowly walks towards first, the Scotman is confused and asks, "What happened? Why isn't he running?" His friends say "He got four balls." The Scotsman looked suprised, and said, "Aye, laddie. Walk with pride!"
jilli - quit with the old bag jokes; I've done 'em all and I'm at least 20 yrs younger than you. Enjoy being a woman!
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
Bash - LOL.
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!

jac - a while ago a troll came here and dissed everyone and said all the clues sucked. For some reason I can't remember I found her blog and she called me an 80-year-old hag. I'm olnly 79!
Does anyone have a clue for the up 6/27 word please
Wainwright to Ordonez, to start the top of the 9th, the count is 3-1...
Hello pdb! How are you doing? Did you finish the grid?
Full count to Ordonez...
Hi minver - just a minute!
I hate when people round off age...
Min, I have 7 left. How about you?
2 to go
Ordonez fouls off a pitch that would have been a strike...hits ball off of Wainwright's glove, Belliard throws out Ordonez, two outs to go...
I have 36 more. I got off to a very late start tonight!
1 out & 1 strike to go
Casey has an 0-1 count, swings and misses at a low pitch for strike 2...
has any one really ever taken a survey of how much a person really misses in life when they lose internet connection?
I bet the findings are scary
Douglas, your messages make me feel like I'm listening to a play by play. Not that I know any of the players....
Casey fouls off a pitch...
Sean Casey hit a home run in the last game, I think...full count to Casey
No, but I can tell you that I'ld miss Babble the most!!
Going now. Would not want to accidentally breathe or spit wine-laden breath on anyone. Goodnight.
rut-roh
geez

lib & i have a vested interest here, lol
Goodbye Jacula! I will see you tomorrow in the chat!
good night jacula
Casey doubles off the wall to right center, Rodriguez up, Casey on second, one out...pinch runner Santiago substituted for Casey
welcome, minver - just a tense moment in the World Serious
that's right!
jilli - I'm still here - just a bit peed off that the vice versa rule doesn't always work.
They didn't think Rodriguez checked his swing, but the first base umpire said he did...
well, on the possibly bright side, i put a little on the over & have yet to make that, so . . .
2 out!
I did win/lose
2-0 to Rodriguez, hits dribbler to Wainwright, who checks the runner on second, throws out Rodriguez for the second out...Polanco up, who has stunk up the joint in the World Series...
jac - dinna ken
If you lot are talking sports now, I may go.
i did that too lib
It's almost over, Jacula...
Douglas was a sports announcer in a previous life....
please, jac, just a few minutes...
jacula - it is the possible last game of the baseball season here - it's always exciting when someone, anyone wins a championship
1 more strike
Polanco pops up out of play behind the plate for strike 2...
jilli - I meant if he's been drinking red or spirits it's supposed to be okay. If I drink too much white wine, even if I try to retire 10 mins after he's just been up and drinking coffee, then it's not okay.
looked like strike 3 to me
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
jac - havvanother glassawine
Does anyone have a clue for the tr 5/18 word please?
rut-roh
chj is referring to the sinking curve ball...
inna minute, min, please!
Wainwright throws a wild pitch, Santiago advances to third...
oh dear
RUT-ROH
jilli- - You shouldn't encourage me like that! I was just thinking about doing so. A man wiping his face after I've kissed him is well likely to p*S* me off big time.
Polanco walks...Brandon Inge up, Santiago on third, Polanco on first...
min - tr5/18 - the sound of a frog, change first letter to t
tr + from the little acorn grows the mighty ***

Does anyone have a clue for the up 6/27 word please
Interesting - Cards (NL) manager Tony LaRussa was Oakland (AL) manager, Jim Leyland (Detroit manager) was NL Phillies manager, if I remember correctly
yes, jili, that can't possibly be right
jilli - he's not an AA candidate by any means, not at all. However, he thinks I am. I had an AA boyfriend once, had no idea how much he was drinking throughout the day until I really started to watch him. He could reach, almost unnoticed, for a drink, almost anywhere in the house. I finally took him to task when he range his eldest daughter to congratulate her on getting her degree when he was p**d out of his brain. I told him NOT to ring her until 'later'. He ignored me, range her, and she tol him to eff off.
leyland was pirates manager
they just said so on the TV - about the 1st time soince 1982
ok, pirates - knew it was NL
marlins twice and diamondbacks all won in the last 10 years
and others
plus mets won in 86

Does anyone have a clue for the ph 7/40 word please
Not you, jac - the baseball people who are flaying me for quoting what I heard without thinking.
Egyptian leader, min
Minver - Egyptian king, but ya gotta spell it right!
Minver - ph7/40 is an Egyptian king. If you don't get it right first time, change your last 2 vowels around. It's a common spelling mistake.
jilli dont make me get my pirate buds and kidnap you
jac - after he went AA he didn't want me to have my preprandial mart or anything, so I didn't for years.
jilli - Oh, okay. I tend not to read all of the US sports stuff.
Eyes drooping, down to two. Fo 6/30?
oh please, chj! I'm on your side!!!
pdb - brit spelling of disgusting smell
pdb - fo6/30 - stinking, rotten.
Thank you a lot!Fortunately the reverese dictionary knew how to spell it! Don't know what I'd do without it!I thought I knew how to spell it,but thought wrong
(UK spelling of that word, pdb.)
jilli - what is a preprandial mart?
[pulling jilli's leg]

YAY pdb!
Congratulations pdb on your fireworks!Hooray for U!
Jilli - sorry! but \yuk1
I can do anything I like to dinner, jac, I live alone
Sorry, but I'm not getting british spelling for bad smell
That is a sure true thang (no spelling mistake there), Jlili.
could I please have clues for ha 5/14, ho 5/14 and tr 5/18?
min - fo + latin or french "and" + what youngsters need to buy booze
Min, without the second letter, it would be an AMerican spelling of a bad or rotten spell.
Minver - fo6/30 - fo* (enemy) + most of a mood the sea has governed by the moon.
wow
wow, what an assortment of fo clues!
Thank you for the fo clues.I finished my fo words now
