ARB!!! Shalom! Merry Christmas! Happy Festivus! etc... Peace to you my friend. :-*
hey everyone
Hi Herin
Can anyone help me? I need to ask a question about deviant art web site
drbernabo is not proper either then i spose
festivus? isn't that from a comedy act? hehe
that goes without saying
I hope all is well with you
there ya go!
deviant art is a great website, too bad I dont have enough talent to put someting up there
Sir i found an image today on a tshirt and im trying to track down the owner as its a pet peeve that art is used and sold without permision
I am not Babbling as such tonight. Just got back from big family party gathering. WAY TOO MUCH WINE!
Well, your best bet is too browse by the genre and style of the picture you saw
think that's a fairly common complaint these days babblephish
I'm guessing a signature of the artist wasnt on the print, hehe
ok, going to bed with 280... ttfn
thats the prob cant remeber were i got it. I liike the image but htere is no way id pinch it
Not complaining at all ! :-)
what is the word damage tonight
good night hurshy
*hic*
349 words, did you really want to know that?
Well, thing is, herin, there are so many artists and works there that you'll probably never actualy find, except by chance alone
yep i its boxing day ere and its 630om
Sir stealling art and making cash off it is rude
I know, I'm an Israeli, I know about rudeness (hehe, sorry ARB, you know it's true) I'm not saying dont do the right thing, I'm just saying it'll take you a long time
349... !!!~~~ To me it looks like 698... I don't dare begin (I repeat *hic*)
yer demon its either on deviant art or fotobucket
ARB, I hope you had a Happy Chanukah. I pray for you always.
Well, gtg for now, bbl. Bye for now

Here is the common Festivus definition for those who wondered: Festivus is an annual holiday invented in 1966 by Dan O’Keefe, and introduced to popular culture by O'Keefe's son, Daniel on December 18, 1997 in the Seinfeld episode "The Strike".[1] The holiday is celebrated each year on December 23, but many people celebrate it other times, often to avoid the holiday rush,[1] and it consists of untraditional practices such as wrestling the household head to the floor, there pinning him, or the "Airing of Grievances" in which each person tells each and everyone else all the ways they've disappointed him/her over the past year, and after a Festivus dinner, the "Feats of Strength" are performed. An aluminum pole is generally used in lieu of a Christmas tree or other holiday decoration, shedding holiday materialism (according to O'Keefe it was the only tradition that was made up by the show’s writers, everything else was taken directly from his family celebrations).[2] Many people, influenced or inspired by Seinfeld, now celebrate the holiday, in varying degrees of seriousness. Some do it religiously; others do it with good humor in their respect to the series
the TV Squad blog and boingboing.com have info on festivus also.
My idea is to drink as much fabulous wine as is presented!
thank you Babble. (the delay was when I went to answer the phone). My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter came from the States, so all the family and all the grandkids were together, for the first time in a while.
the best thing is that on sunday, we all aget to gather in my friend
hi Arb!
Hi all; hope you had a wonderful day!! Hugs to each of you.
hi dee!
's RV and traverse the Alexander and Dry Creek Valley and restock the wine coffers for the rest of the year... or until we run out. Which ever comes first.
Whoa! computer hiccup ther!\
Bable my parents dog is a spoilt rotten dog
Helo again and merry christmas to those still in chrissy
hi infernal!

Hi Fran. I can't believe how big this grid is. Wow!
brb
ARB! I am so glad that your family came to be with you for the holidays! How fun! I am happy to still have my daughter home with me.
there have been bigger ones dee, but this is the biggest in the last month for sure.
Now don't forget, that I still owe you a wine tour when YOU come back!
I don't know if you read the archives or not, but My daughter has been recalled to active duty in the Army, even though she was honorabley discharged over a year ago.
But. I am not going to think about that today. I'll go crazy if I do. I'll think about that tomorrow.
right now. I am going to finish off the evening with a little Bailey's and off to bed. Happy Holidays everyone.
bable enjoy
sorry bitching on the fone
Whoa, gigantogrid again today.

Don't have that one yet, Andree.

ok im getting the other half to fix dinner as the lasagna is stuck in the container and its peeing me off
thx joey, will look

er 7 is the washing away of soil by rain
thanks joey, had thought i tried that, will try again :D
ta joey
got it - cheers joey
still no ai7
the ai 7 word has to do with an airframe part that affects manuevers of the plan (such as banks)
ai starts with a "being sick word" ends with the opposite of off
also a wall at the end of a roof with a single slope, as that of a church aisle.
ai7 = person who posts, lose the first letter + not off
thx all
night all - 22 to go, doable for the time i have tomorrow. good luck
nite joey
nite joey
Oh no! Bf is making me watch a crappy horror movie.
most horror movies are crappy -- its part of the fun
I guess, but I still must complain.
wots the movie?
horror movies, no fun at all
Jeepers Creepers
oh well that is very crappy, not even crappy funny
He swears the first 45 minutes are great, but I suspect that means the rest of it is awful.
it's generally pretty awful imo - not suspenseful, not a strong story - it does start with promise but fades quickly
teen flick
good excuse for a snuggle on the lounge tho
I actually like the really really terrible ones on rare occasions, but this seems pretty lame.
Yeah totally!
yeah this one tries hard but gets no where -- its not lame enuff for cult status like evil dead
Ooooh love Evil Dead!
And Army of Darkness of course.
me too :D tho it is kinda feeble - it is somehow awesome
even the games were cool
It's just hilarious. The first one is pretty bad, but 2 and 3 are golden.
i love them too - some of the best horror/comedies ever made
The go6/24 is very fitting for this conversation.
yep :)
en7/36 and 6/27 please
en7 = en + quest for the holy *****
en6/27 = en + a small weight
thank you dez
np :D

oh yeah, and hi every else too :)
Hi Ata and Sprite
oh where you off to sprite
My husband works in his free time at the DWD, the wildwater course in Zoetermeer. The kids will have their first flowrider lesson today :)
oh way cool
oh wow
and I will be sitting next to the basin, pretending it doesn't scare me one bit
that sounds like a blast
Mornin g all. Hope you all had a great Christmas Day. What can I say? Lucky I don't have much to do today. 349 words!
Hi Frances
hi frances
hi frances, sprite and atalante
hi frances
Hi Andree
have decided to go to 1/2 way, this is way too big for me tonight
thats wot i told myself too andree...i now have 80 to go
Evening all. I'm with you Andree. Had a hectic two days. Just come back from a 10 course Chinese banquet.
sounds like fun, Angb
ymmy angb
If you like eating ... lovely food but.
hey sprite i went to the web site and it sounds fun. Oh ANg yummy
dez, not everyone is as slow as me
After 2 Xmas meals on Xmas day, the banquet on Boxing Day does me in.
Unfortunately the jelly fish was too chewy tonite ... my favourite
"Ten course Chinses banquet" are possibly the loveliest I have ever heard
Good Chinese food is always so beautiful too :) Yes, it is fun, lady. I am just a mom and therefore a little scared when my babies do things like that, lol. Their dad is very good in pushing their limits.
jelly fish?
*loveliest words
cant say i have eaten jellyfish - sounds kinda yucky
Darn it. Losing the ability to type here
We have nothing like that around us sprite
yes it does get too much all at once, we just had lovely ham sandwiches, cherries and figs and mangos
Sounds sensible Andree - with a touch of Aussie sunshine foods
Ang what do you mean Jelly Fish?
a chinese banquet wasn't on offer angb
Jelly fish - like the things that sting you in the sea ... But they cook them and do it in chille
I like jellyfish, learnt to like lots of strange stuff as we lived in asia 8 years
oh ok my partner hadn;t heard off it thats why i asked
We had chilli squid the other night and it was delise
the only thing I cannot eat at a banquet is the sharks fin soup, hate it
Sounds better than lutefisk. That's sort of a jelly fish.
They do cut them into strips so it doesn't look like a jelly fish. I have never tried chilli squid. Sounds real nice.
It is we went to this vietnamese resturant and they sereved garlic beef and chillied squid it was great and it was cheap too
Some vietnamese food is similar to chinese food - well the chinese food I am used to - from the south of China
My ma-in-law is a superb cook - so sometime the chinese banquets are n't up to her standard! Family dinners take on a new meaning.
And for dessert was sweet red bean sauce which is another thing I love
I don't like this grid.
thats another thing I never learnt to like, what passes for dessert
This is the resturant we go to http://www.hoatran.com.au/ and it does have a cafe next door that rocks
except coconut icecream
The chinese go made on jelly ... with heaps of gelatine in. YUCK. On Xmas day - sister in law served on normal jelly with 3 tsps in ... and gross colours.
I can't say I am enjoying it either angb
am off, have a great time, all of you. CU later
See ya sprite - have fun
Have heaps of fun sprite
have fun!
bye sprite, don't sit and worry I am sure the kids will have a great time
Ang this restuarant has the 3 colour bean jelly with coconut milk it makes you go silly with the colours
Grandad gave my boys a quad bike for Xmas - LOL - I know how Sprite feels
this grid is a bad grid
Yes, her ... to the jelly and the grid.
i dont find it appealing but the partner loves it
brb dinner check
I normally work thru the grid, and try to get 1/2 of each box ... even this is proving difficult tonite.
Has all this talk made you hungry her?
The "e"s are in the wrong places
everything in the wrong place, a grid this size usually the first at least 200 flow, not this one
or6/24 please?
I have 166 words and have been here ages
LOL Andree - I need to sleep soon. I have only 89 - have revised my target from 1/2 to 100 words.
have no or words sorry dez
I have got one - but it's a 5
ty andree
ty anyways guys
im eatin lasagna and chips
Yum her -
in bread 2
Lasagna and chips in bread?
yep0
i am eating lasagan in bread and chips have cheese on them i didnt stuff them in bread
I can't really picture that - italian chip buttie?
watching the very first episode of smallville
you could say that im gross
I don't diet or fuss but I could not eat that herin
lasagne and salad is more my style
think of spagetti meat sauce on bread
start of smallville is nasty
Are you all seeing the words in the grid that just miss a last letter?
yep
lots of them angb
Can i say SMALLVILLE rocks
You can her ... but I don't watch TV so can't quite agree with you.
I don't even know what smallville is
im watching it on dvd as the tv stuffs around my fav series too much and it isses me off. Nip/Tuck season 2 is already on dvd but tv has just shown it. Andree story of Superman as a kid, that and Clarke is cute
Think I'll come back tomorrow morning. Got my 100 - like pulling teeth. See ya all later.
is it a movie or a series
bye angb
Series
bye ang
good morning all - I am usually a silent player but would like to say I hope everyone is enjoying a lovely Christmas
Andree its a series i think they are up to season 6 my partner got the first 3 on dvd for chrissy
hi scary
hi scary
I will look out for it herin, I hardly watch tv except the news sometimes but like dvd's i can watch in my own time with no ads
andree google smallville you might get a better idea
180 left, may get back tomorrow, this grid too big for me, bye all and happy boxing day
bye andree havae a good night
why is there so many 7s
where is everyone
good mornig
hi herinfernallady , I'm here , concentrating. Still need 143 words
hey lain and ishult im just stuffing about, darn show i want to see is on at 1am i
i think ill hit licketyslist
Hello. I'm new to the game (3rd day)... And I would like to ask - is there some good way to make all of this methodical? The sheer number of the words scares me ;)
trying not too look at lickety's list, but don't think I can hold out much longer!!
right i piked i am usinf lickets list
HIawatha follow the ling at the bottom on angelsongs page
THis is a fairly evil grid for a first timer
this is a big one Hiawatha, but stay with it and enjoy
angelsongs page?
that list I keep reading about?
yes thats the one she gives gives clues. LIcketylist gives a full list of word
AngelSong's Babble Page gives you clues and Lickety's Babble Clues gives you the full list of words
Ok. Thank you for the help. I almost finished the wholeone from two days ago... But it was 3a.m... And strenght left me... And yesterday fever... Maybe thisone will fall
Give it a shot hia this ones a bit nasty
Hia the last three grids have been a chalange
If I start with the hard ones, it will be more pleasureful alter
yer thats because you have stats. these run out in 14 days you get them when you go pro
Hiawatha you will find it pleasurable because fellow babblers are there to give support join in the fun and have a great time
yep everyone is off doing family stuff today
I have seen the support when I sat quietly and only read 'the talk' in the box
yep mor often than not we don't bite
And some biting from time to time aint so bad
think ratsier should be a word
yep iagree
healthy debate is no bad thing
Ata trhe word I keep seeing is feminist!
Good Morning All
now I will to!
Atalante, you name was almost in the grid yesterday and it was a word
morning periwinkle

this is hard im at 169 so far
I am at 60 and going to leave it for a while. Bye everyone
night mum
clue help
is there anyone here
hi and good morning.
hi alien
so, why is it so quiet?
um people are eating and sleepong and stuff
and this grid is darn hard
yes, it is difficult, and long too.
i am trying to do this i piked at 130 and used the list
well, I just started....still a LONg way to go
im going batty here trying to work this out
and im watching smallville and dvd first season
I have never seen smallville. It's about superman, right?
yep it is and its quite cool.I am into the whole superhero villian thing. Nerd that i am
understandable. I like CSI, NCIS and stuff like that.
I love NCSI and abbey is so cute. Denozo used to be Logan in DarkAngel and Jessica Alba was his tv girlfriend so its funy when he says ' id be more likely to score with Jessica Alba than solve this case'
ha ha, I remember thinking that was funny too. It's on tonight! : )
oh i wish we didn't have so much shite on tv so we are stuck with dvds
yes....I know. Do you watch House?
i hate house i used to be good but when he called a women a bitch its issed me off so i didn't watch it
I still love the show. It's a love-hate relationship I guess. He is an ass, but real.
i guess i used to like it but i don't anymore
the thing about TV shows is they all start off really good, then after a few seasons, the plot gets lame.
look At Lost Crappy now after one season. I get the shows i realy love on dvd so i don't have to put up with stuff abouts from tv
Good Morning ... temporarily .. this one is too much!
merk hello
Yep. Even CSI is getting bad too. and I love the show. But it seems every week I am dissapointed.
hello merk!
Alien our channel 9 which broadcasts it is so shite that it stuffs it up all the time. The tv channel took off Third Watch and put it back on half way throught the final season so you can see why i watch dvds
good point. too bad they are so spendy! It's all a conspiracy.
i hate channel 9 the fudge it up all the time. My friend downloads everything as he is tired of poor tv runs
Clue for the ai 7 please
um hang on merk
I don't have that one yet----but now I am going to look.

ooooh. Sorry.
Hi Alien. Just noticed that you are another quilter. So good to see a younger person taking it up and getting so much pleasure from it. It is very addictive but oh so very satisfying when you have createwd
created something
Thanks alien!
Oops. What happened there?
My mom got me hooked on quilting. I hand quilt, I don't like the machine much.
figh im off
right im off
bye Herein....
Hydra i keep seening your kitty and i just want to pat it
herin***
I have a sewing machine that hasn't seen the light of day for about twenty years. I only sew by hand - everything.
Poor kitty has noise well out of joint as we had visitor with dog for Cristmas.
Hi, everbody. I don't have any words. Just one question about Lickety's. What is the second letter there for? The first letter starts the word, but what does the second letter do, and where in the word does it appear?
it's more addicting when you know you made something by hand.
Merry Christmas all - I was too busy cooking and stuffing my face to login yesterday. Big grid - worth looking?
the second letter is the second letter of the word.
The second letter is the second letter of the word. The number is how many letters it is. The next number is the total score
I do too francies as i hate sewing by machine
I love it. I design and make silk quilts
hi matty.
very big, Matty
Thanks makes things a lot clearer!
Hi matty. Happy thingy
I only started about 8 months ago, I am just now getting into more difficult patterns. Slowly but surely.
i saw a really cool mario brothers quilt online the other day - very cute, i imagine pixel pictures like that would be relatively easy?
Oh, and so now I see how there can be more than one of a number
I don't bother much with traditional patterns. I prefer to make my own. Can be a bit hit and miss sometimes!
put a pic up of one of your quilts, frances :) please? they are so lovely!
I'm thinking that for once the word
sorry, rent isn't in the puzzle ... maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's true
That is what my mom does too. One day I will get there, but I am still getting down the basics. I have made about 5 quilts now. I just started another one last week.
I'll have a rummage Ata and see what I can come up with
How long does each one take to make?
yay ty!
it take me about 3 weeks (depending on size)
Depends how much effort you're prepared to put in hydra. Some of mine take months. OIne took about a year to make but it was a very special wedding quilt.
Well I have to go for now. be back later. My 2 year old needs a bath.
Good morning. As I have received a quilt from Alien, I can tell you they are beautiful and very nice!
hi mickie
I stayed in a b&b in Devon last month and the lady pwner was a quiltmaker. She also made quilted paintings. Not for sale, worse luck. They were fantastic.
By Alien. Happy splashing
bye alien
Quilting is a very special skill. It requires patience and a very good feel for colours and shapes, as well as sewing skills. I'd be hopeless.
ai 7 clue please
sicker + mr. howard was a nice clue i saw earlier for that one merk
ty
hydra my sewing teacher at school gave up on me. I was hopeless. Like so many things, I developed a taste for it later and like so many other things, when you are not forced to do it you enjoy it so much more and yes, it does take patience but that is something I have in bucket loads.
Learning patience is, I think, my task in this lifetime. I should take up meditating.
Shalom Everyone. Time for my afternoon retake.
hi arb
Bye ARB. Shalom
an 7 clue please
Bye Hydra - did I make you leave?
Just working on that one now, Merk

go 5/20 for both. The word means thief.

Thanks ARB.. You're right, with word score it is easy
Well done dezyon
Dezyon! Congrats to you -- excellent

ty guys and catch ya next time ch
morning, trying to get a few words before I head off to work. can someone clue the ai7?
ai7 = sicker + mr. howard (someone elses clue)
Someone did ai 7 earlier -- more sick + director Mr. Howard's first name
Natasha ai7/28 onje who is sick + opp of off
thanks!
en 7 please ... both of them
en + underground part of a tree plural
en + quest for the holy *****
en + g 5/14
ty, the first one is weird
Natasha did you get the ai7? It is a bit of a plane
I did, thanks Frances. Your clue was perfect.
You're welcome Natasha
mo 8 please
mo 8 -- someone who drives a car.
mo8 people who drive plural for the 9
Merk one who drives. Plural for the 9
There are going to be lots of suffixes today, I see.
ri 8 please and then I'm going to quit for awhile
dishes made from rice and broth
singular for a 7
Good clue dezyon
ty frances
good perhaps after I understand it. I'm trying to recall a word for dishes with rice and broth.

lol
A soup or curry perhaps?
it is an italian dish, merk.
ri + plural letter + bus driver on the simpsons
Turkey ri7. What a great idea. I'll start to prepare it in a minute.
Dish of the day hydra? How many dishes can you come up with for leftover turkey?
Oh, that dish! Got it. ty
Kebab? Curry (that's for tonight). Turkey spag bol?
My God, I feel a cookery book coming on!

I think it will be turkey in the dog for me! You can only have soi much.
Time to drive home. See you here later today ... except all of you will have finished by then.

bye merk
Nevermind - found it -- always after I ask for the clue!
must go to work, see you all later
At least the turkey's have a year to live, unlike the chickens which are eaten all year round.

i havent had goose before
good afternoon all.......this looks a stinker today, but what the hell.....here goes!!!

Hello mo. Dive in. Christmas antidote!
oh might have been a good thing then i guess hydra
You had a lucky escape, dezyon
That is trhe problem with goose. However, the fat is wonderful for roasting your potatoes

LOL. How many do you plan to feed dezyon?
can anyone help with the re7/40,please
hehe, i could invite the extended family i guess
re7 = boring a hole
thank you
np
oh gosh, taiwan just had a 7.2 earthquake and are on tsunami alert as is the phillipines
oh no, that is awful!
Surely not two years in row - please!
yeah 2 years to the day since the asian tsunami too, but looks like this one will be much much smaller thankfully
wave is expected to only be 1 metre high when it reaches phillipines, so that is good news
can it really be called a tsunami if its that small? thats kind of scaremongering isnt it?
Don't think surfers would be very impressed!
if i were in that country and someone said tsunami alert i would be in the hills before they finished telling me how tiny it was
Certainly after the last time
in japanese tsu means port area/docks, while nami means wave - which makes tsunami
yeah i know psymeg and we use it to refer to waves caused by seismic events, but its become a misnomer for large and deadly waves
I love this site. Someone can always teach you something new. Thank you psymeg
yw frances
come to think of it tidal wave isnt very accurate either
media switched to tsunami becaoz ppl complained that its quite different, tidal waves are caused by tides
he7/32 clue anyone?
he 7/32 people listening?
plural of he 6/21
Doh! Had the 6 and didn't think of pluralising it.
good afternoon everyone:)

Hi Faerie
Hiya Faerie
I am jacula thank you, sounds like you are having a good one
good morning, faerie and all
hello faerie Happy Holidays to you:)
Hi Doren, ARB, Hydra, CH :-D
Hello ch1212. Season's greetings!
morning ch1212:) Happy Christmas
Happy Holidays Jean
Jac check out my icon I just realized that she has a fag LOL
LOL, Faerie.
she's perfect for me hahaha
Interesting use of the word, faerie (for those that didn't know, a 'fag' is a cigarette.) I was a Camp Fire Girl and we had to memorize this pledge: "As faggots are brought from the forrest, firmly held by the sinews which bind them ...." Believe me, my mom was going to wash my mouth out with soap the first time I recited it!
LOL Ch - I've never heard that but I will memorize it :)
faggots in this country are savoury meat balls!!!
LOL, ch. Yes, I'm aware the word has an entirely different general meaning over the pond.
hmmmm I guess we have fags in all languages :)
mo - they are also bundles of small sticks for a fire here in UK. Not often seen or heard of now since the Clean Air Act.
Really mo? Didn't know that! It's like the word "Gay", whose meaning has also altered over time. Watched Hugh Jackman in "Oklahoma" and there's a line about "she's a gay old gal" which made my husband laugh.
so they are ... i had forgotten that.
mo - not really seen them since about the late 60s.
Happy day after Christmas! And I guess Dr_God felt the need for an after-christmas gift for us. yikes!
Hellllooooo Charm - Happy day after to you also :)
He probably thinks we're all off work today... so fess up, how many of us are supposed to be working right now? (Holds up my hand)
Hey, Faerie!!
I go to work at 2:00pm and it is currently almost 9:30am
we have sticks hereas we still have open fires, but i must start calling them faggots!!!
<I never work if I can figure out a way not to. That's why there are other people....>
hello Charm happy day after to you to:)
Hi, Jean!
morning
Hi, smooth

Incidentally, I've put the grids for the Boxing Day grids for the past 3 years in my profile... should anyone finish today's...:)
(((((INGE)))) Hi
inge - really? It's a versatile word!
Hello Inge hope christmas is going well for you:)
I love learning the different meanings of the same word
and Guten Morgen , all ye Babblers.
i wonder where the phrase "fagged out" comes from....meaning tired out?
hahaha Jac I just refreshed and see your icon now
great icon, Jacula
Glad you can all read it!
mo - Don't know? Maybe when a fire's gone out, it's 'fagged out'? Something like that?

could be Jacula...you are so wise.
bbl need a nap before going back to work Happy Babbling everyone :)
(( faerie ))
bye Faerie.
'Bye Faerie.x
bye Faerie
Mo - I didn't dare Google 'fag' or 'faggot' - Lord knows what sites would have appeared. I've just looked in my (proper paper) Brewer's Phrase & Fable Dictionary and found a few more definitions.
crikey...not more!!
A 'fag' is also the schoolboy 'servant' at public school. I did know that. Fag-end = a ciggie stub but also the remaining end of a piece of coarse cloth & lots of other things. 'To much fag' = too much trouble or effort. Faggot = a hireling who took the place of another at the muster of a regiment. 'Old faggot' = dreary old woman.
There's more...
Wow -- I had no idea! Thanks, Jac
i have heard of those except the hireling one.
brb
'Faggot votes' = votes obtained by the nominal transfer of property to individuals in the days when this was a necessary qualification for voting rights - minimum being a forty shilling freehold. The 'faggot' being a bundle of property divided into small lots.
we live and learn!!! thanks Jacula
Oh, and apparently, in the context of the 'faggot' as a bundle of kindling sticks - in the days when heretics were burned at the stake, an embroidered representation of a faggot was worn on the arm by those who recanted, thus showing what they merited but had narrowly escaped.
That's it!
Right, I'd better get my on paper words typed in now. Can't be doing it once guests arrive!
very interesting.
Mornin', afternoon all! 349 woids -- do they think we are super human? LOL
Hi Gwen. You mean we aren't?? *Looks shocked*
good morning fellow babblers!
Hi Annie.
hi jacula, i enjoyed your definitions of "faggot"...it is good to learn something new everyday
Hi, Annie, Gwen.
349 words, not finishing this one but will enjoy trying
hi charm
Thanks, Annie. Not just my definitions - Inge's was a new one. I guess we are all fascinated by words; that's why we Babble.
Hush-hush. Keep that superhuman part quiet. If it becomes known, someone will expect me to do something worthwhile.
lol
Charm - ROFLOL
yes, inge too. words certainly are fascinating...honomyns (spelling?)
good morning babblers!

Hi Sprite & anyone else I missed coming in. Was away curling my daughter's hair with hair straighteners. (Yes!) Now I need to type in earnest before guests arrive.
(!)

the car one ch?
which mo5, ch?
you got it.
yep - thanks ch
which mo 5?
what movie is that, movieman?
annie, mo5/12 refers to what you might call your car engine
if you mean my icon, harpjane, it's from one of the best films from the last ten years, "Sin City".....IMO.....
thanks, ch I had the mo 5...my typing is slow today...
thanks, is it scary?
now to get the 8 and 9
I was a movie theater projectionist for 2 years, now I hardly ever go to the movies....
I was a movie theater projectionist for 2 years, now I hardly ever go to the movies....
I was a movie theater projectionist for 2 years, now I hardly ever go to the movies....
not really, it's based on a series of comic books by Frank Miller, who also co-directed the film with Robert Rodriguez.....
there's an echo in here, it was 20 years, not 2
Hi need a clue for the first ae5,10 please
eagle's nest, mp
Actually I think it's the only ae 5,10
MP, birds nest
man! I've been here an hour already, and only 120 words to shopw for it... this is a slow going puzzle
I have to agree, with my three words in ten minutes! I need some practice, so even though I
I'm new, I have nothing to show for it
102 to go, I am taking a break!
I've got 83 in 30 mintues. That's good for me!
(by it I mean my practice)
later, inge
lol well, mp... this is a helluva puzzle today... good practice for a newby. :)
bye inge
that's not bad harp... bye inge
You all must be very good I've only got 3 like I said and 346 to go I'm discouraged a little most puzzles are easier. This is harder than my first puzzle!
mare
errr....whoops
ahh, finally got half the woids. time to do some "real" work BBL
this one is a bit hard for a big one. Usually with this size the first 150 go fast, but not now. Don't get discouraged ;)
MP read the clues in the log, that will give you ideas
now you should have 4, mp thanks to smooth papa :) Don't get discouraged -- it does get much easier as time goes on
bye Gwen
lol
What log? Where's the link, harpjane? Do you mean Lickety's?
No, I mean the coversations we're having in the chat log!
well, been here 1/2 hour or so, got almost half way - have 150 words - must leave for now - bbl
this log, the chat log. If you click on the button next to the text balloon button in the upper right of the chatbox, you can see the whole log from today
Oh ... well, I am but it only shows the last hour and I do read them thanks harpjane I'll look again just sometimes the clues are hard to figure out ... of course, that's the point
Wonderful, sprite, didn't see that. Thank you ... that should be a huge help@
Yes, lots of great clues there :)
Looked at that, but it kept showing me the same clues ... maybe it's just me ...
When I click it, I see the whole chat from 12.00 am on until your last comment, M.P. Many clues too.
Found it, thank you sprite, my own silly mistake I pushed the wrong button
:D Glad you found it

clue for the na7 plz
or7/28 talkers lop of the s for a six
hursh, add large score tile to "when you've go** out the door you have left"
Ts7: take M4 peaty wasteland, change first letter into Ts, end in a form of to be.
na7/28 those who do a bit of hammering!
LOL - i knew we had a word looking something like that before and i've been dancing all around it without getting it!!
and thanks ch1212 for reminding me of another yiddish one!!
It usually doesn't have a double vowel, hursh. Perhaps that is why :)
er7?
If Er7 goes on long enough, nothing is left.
washing away dirt, harp
oh, so I see! thanks
hurshy, change one vowel in the go for another Yiddish word in the grid
perhaps. have to keep both in mind in future.
Means the same thing
ah, you are swell ch1212!!!
oh lookit that, i had 3 to7 and i just found a fourth so yay
51 left, but have to get some real work done. later --
only 4 7's left for me now!!
does the ri7 build off the 5?
Do you have ma7, hursh?
no harp, it's a food
yeah i have one sprite
harpjane, think italian food
hm, thanks
i didn't list all my 7's cause i didn't want to duplicate the ones you guys were saying
I have two. Female horse + consonant + leave
got it thanks
harp = creamy rice dish.
Hi all,may I have a clue for the ma7
thanks sprite!
ok halfway there
me too smooth, and usually the first half is the quicker one
Hurshy, I haven't seen you since before Christmas! That seems like a very long time ago.
ah, well, it isn't really
Christmas was very rushed for my family.
Hi everyone......are we all well and happy?
is the ma7 obvious or is everyone ignoring my request
clue for the fe7 plz
what are the odds of that?
The adults don't like to go fast, but some of my younger cousins do. They ripped through their stockings and broke some stuff.
I gave a clue just before you asked, periwinkle
I have two ma7's Peri
may I have clues for them CJ, please
peri does not like my clues
:)
the first I have is snail ma** + more ending + plural
fe7 people who are afraid
I didn't see your clue sprite, or I would not have asked
sprite's clue for the second is great - female horse + consonant + leave
thanks CJ (and sprite) for the ma7 clues
yw Peri
It's great to follow these clues for the 7's....yet, I hardly ever spot them myself....any suggestions on how to spot them..or is it genetic? lol
cle for the st 7 please
I need that one, too, Peri
people who look impolitely
lol Babs, no, it is mostly practice. One way to spot them is to look for promising endings, like (not in this grid) -iest, and then try to put something in front of it. Also to try to put two shorter words after another for a compound.
duh! I had the 6 but not the 7. fish for me Hurshy!
clue for the re7 plz
I had the 6 too and not the 7 :0) thanks hursh
yelling at, really laying into
and puts something up on ebay again
clue for the my7??
thanks, Sprite...and I have done those things, but mostly they still escape me...especially ones like the ma one you clued.
Yeah, but that are uncommon words, they are easy to miss. If you play Babble for a long time, you are alert to words that only appear in these grids, lol.
if you can Ignore someone, why can't you gnore them?
still can't see that re7......
Found one of those strange babblets just now: Gh6/27. G + brave man, insert a vowel before the last letter.
cause it ain't a prefix
movie, it is not a prefix
a package of paper is a re** + gerund ending (I think that's it)
wow thanks sprite
Dorens, you are right. I'd love to gnore some people.
thx Sprite. What a strange word!
i'd love for george clooney to gnore me...
got it, ty all
LOL Hurshy!
well, i didn't gnore your clue for the gh...thanks
grin :)
ai7?
so, sprite, how would yo find things like the gh one? just monkey typing with syllables?
found on a plane, harp... someone who is sick + opp of off
Did anyone mention that there is a gr7
Greetings everyone
thre is a gry/36
Babs: desperately hunting Gs right now, and vaguely remembering a word that looked like it. Monkeytyping did the rest.
gr7/36 :)
roaming
thanks, never heard of it!
i still need 7 g's, pllt
sorry!! wrong box
TY
bubba lol i thought you were clueing the gr 7 lol
plural of gr 6/24
I still need 2 more Gs. Found this combo: G + rebellic fights in the streets. And plural. Means a storyteller. I thought it was a kind of liquorice, lol.
i'm steamed about no gorer/s, i mean what do they think a bull is in a bullfight!!!
i taught in inner city schools.... lots of info on griots...ancient african historians, actually
LOL Dorens - you said it.
dorens! lol
clue for my7??
would love to be able to give you one chris...
My + vowel + mother
that's only 5...
that is the 5. Don't have a My7 yet.
yeah i've been trying to build off that to no avail
Can't seem to make it any longer either indeed.
i've been looking for ages too.
hursh: also Gr5/6 combo Gr + cereal grass (and pl)
guess it doesn't come off the 5
have those sprite
there isn't an my7
Those were my last Gs, got them all now.

Down to 12, still 2x7 to go though.
oh sprite, i have 48 to go
i should probably use the list soon, have much to do today.
133 left, bbl
i've spent...2.5 hours on the grid so far
I am about to hit the list. Can't find anything anymore.
re7/28 plz
i hate to hit it so soon but i have monstrous amounts of housework
Almost 3 hours here, I guess.
in awe of all of you with 203 to go here!
sprite if i had 12 i would so not be getting the list :)
movie: puts it all under another again.
at that point it's like, you're so close...
a 7 - 4 of them
e 7 .... 3
True, hursh. It is where stubbornness wrestles with a sound sense of how to spend time.
f7 2
My missing 7s are either R, T or S.
i guess i have more stubbornness than common sense...
Hello everyone, what a monster !
hi muse.
hi Sprite.... easy or a hunter?
ao6,18
s
more like a hunter, muse. Did not come that easy to me, anyway.
i concur
it rhymes with the 9, bubba.
sprite you got an at6?
Yes, I do. Sort of short lawyer.
ah, thanks
there are 7 r7's
aw MAN, this is why i hate the list, i find out that i totally could have gotten some of these.
Sprite, haven't come to the 9 yet
hi hursh
hi muse
thanks BabbleRabble, that means I must look for S or T then, got 7 x R.
ack this is painful
i'm going to smell like fish all day

oops, so sorry, wrong box.
Obviously I am back, mistakes and all.
er 7 deals with wearing away.
Terrific, BabbleRabble, I have To missing then.
sprite i have body part, people who work, streisand movie/chocolate "roll", and twisting force
mo 9 is a plural for those that travel by vehicle
Isn't that a Dustin Hoffman movie?
maybe both!
I have a gerund To as well...
to7/44 plz.....
rainman?
oh, well hoffman it is, dunno why i thought streisand.
i must be spelling it wrong babble, it's the more engine with plural?
yep
thanks sprite!!
The to 7 body part I can't think of.
compound, merk
It is part of the foot, Merk.
to 7 is what male cats do
We have ten of them?

clue for the to7/44?
sprite did the ones i clued not help?
to 7/44 is what male cats do
Nope, I had those. Thanks though :)
thx babble
but sprite, i clued four, and i didn't have the gerund, and so it should be in there
so7/28 plz.....(my last 7).....
I did not get the twisting force either.
Ah, ok, will look at the clues again then. Must be overlooking something. Hope it is not a plural... I can be SO blind for missing plurals or singulars...
Those who fly like Jonathan Livingston Seagull, movie.
All I can think of is the twisting wind we have out here on the prairie, but it's not that.
It is more like twist and turn - think of spines.
so 7 is the plural of the one that so 4/4's
got my last 7, ty sprite......
now i can get on with finding the 4's, 5's & 6's.....
yw movie ;)
thanks sprite... i got it from that....
2nd ne6, anyone?
Hi all

oh. and the workers
oh. and the workers
hursh: n + long time past + form of to be.
Ok *bows head in shame* They were both forgotten plurals. The workers and the misspelled clothesmakers. Thank you so much for the help :)
Well, no shame in being human
mmm... or6/24?
Nah, just in being stupid, lol. I should know by now that I must check for forgotten plurals, singulars, verb forms and such.
hursh: it is a cobabbler without the first letter T.
or 6 --- "I'm out of here!"
or + left
lol, i tried our friend but not without the T :)
argh is so a word....

arlene: yes it IS! Seems enable won't accept it without more Rs.
n + poetic before + i am, you are, he/she ...
pabtrek: in this place, change first letter into N, + form of to be.
ts 7 please
thanks sprite
LOL @ ra 6/36
tsimmes
oops again
ts 7 -- t + the s**ne* the better and hit or m**s
Morning! Can someone explain how the stats work? Is the first number how many words start with that letter? And the second is how many times it's used?
Merk: Peaty wasteland M4, change first letter into Ts, + form of to be.
the first number is how many you have found from that box, and the second is how many there are
mom: second number is how many words start with the letter from that tile, first is how many of those you found.
ty
hursh.....clue for that ra6/36.....
for more on how the stats are determined, check out the handy dandy guide to boxes by clicking on my icon
to turn into a horned animal, CHS?
Or another cobabbler, change last letter X into a verb ending :)
Thanks, sprite and hersh
argh, i can't find one of the last re5/10s
a transsexual headbutter
ty, hursh......you're not being very "Grinchy" today......LOL

OK, so help me with the hints you give each other... how do you know there's an re5/10, for example?

LOL hursh - wtg anyway!
don't congratulate me, i sicken myself
anyway i can't hear you with these sardines in my ears
hey this is tougher than i thought
*very evil grin* Darn lady - so you are human afterall too?
well i should think you of all people would know that, considering how many times you have sprited me
hahahhaa...i just realized so too
I would NEVER sprite you. Nor anyone else! Hi smritee, this is not an easy grid, you are right :)
ok, spriting me is one thing, but having the audacity to say you DON'T!
Here I am, playing innocently and quietly, and then get accused of spriting! Well my ever....
don't buy that innocent act, people... she'll sprite you quicker than you can say bobsyouruncle
but if i don't say that.... I won't get sprited... right?
woohoo ive got over 150 words so far....
wtg rose wood.... i'm at 96
you can get sprited either way
Right, arlene! I am never spriting. Some people just see sprites everywhere.
wow rosewood!
oh well.....
btw, to sprite, v. to have more words to find than someone else and then overtake them and finish before them.
and I thought there were sprites everywhere anyway
this is rosewoods son and i waited to lickety was up and running then i copied everything down from there and then i went and printed all the 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 words and i stayed up for about 2 hours last night
*this morning
i have 5 on bable and 156 pts
Perhaps we are everywhere, arlene, but we are helping sprites! NOT spriting sprites.
that's true.....
what r u people talking about? spriting someone?
Hurshy is teasing me, rosewood, that's all ;)
rosewood, see definition in my last post
a clue please for the ri8?
oh lmao
i'm not saying you sprite me maliciously, sprite, but you do it nevertheless
Flask: plural of delicious italian dish
flask, it's Italian rdice dish plural.
and you are teasing me too!! :P
hursh, that you feel sprited, does not mean I did the spriting :)
ty Sprite!

oh please no more booze - enough is enough!!!
bye arlene :)
i am simply stating a fact. you have had more words to find than me and then finished before me. naming it "spriting" is simply a matter of semantics, the facts are the facts.
hi Ursh

My 14 day trial period just expired. I didn't even know there was a trial period. Now that I'm good and hooked, I have to shell out $ to keep getting the stats panel. Evil, evil drug dealers run this site.

I am going to do a quick check of today's log.
yes, she looks fun to be with :)
I remember her saying that, Inge. I just wish the money would come through and her children's passport to get signed

good bye alll.....see you tomorrow.. with a MUCH smaller grid (most likely).. Don't worry about her Inge, I'm sure she's just out for the day with her daughters...that is what they need, I think.
Maybe she is visiting her Auntie, she talks about her some

Bye, bye Doorens
No Inge, I didn't hear that.
Happy Birthday Smithchick, a day early
Congrats Smithchick & Happy B day!
happy birthday, smithchick, in case I forget tomorrow
but she stills owes so much money to creditors, it would be nice for her to get a clean break. I hadn't heard if the guy came through with the money. Last I heard James was having a hard time getting him to call back
Thank you. Kind of anticlimactic at this point. Hubby is at work (missed Christmas, too) and I'm old. Not near as much fun!
Oh Smithchick, you are not old
if you are OLD, how about the rest of us???
Old enough that birthdays aren't nearly as exciting.
I'm looking at profiles to see ages now.
that makes me methuselah-like..
I don't know about that Smithchick. My boys always have something up their sleeves on my birthday.
Lol, inge and liba
Our house is a pranksters paradise. Three boys, two I gave birth to and one I married. All sweet as can be
My kids have a little something, I think. They've actually just started thinking about me on my birthday the last year or two
Mom, I am dense. What are your icon penguiins burrying??
Dr_G is very prompt about updating age, so considerate :-[]
Hello, everybody. This grid is huge! Is it even worth starting at this point?
My almost 12-yr. old daughter will probably make me a cake. She enjoys baking.
Hi Nef.
Inge, their snowmen and the mom and child is behind the pallbearers
That's very ...sweet...of Dr_G
Hi Nef. How sweet smithchick
isn't it snowmen burying a melted one?
Hi Nef, it is a corker of a grid. I wished I had not started it, but did get finished eventually
Inge, those penguins are carrying a bucket of water; only they are really snowmen! ;)
Well my little nephew Coy awaits me. See everybody tomorrow. I should have enough time that I don't have to lurkK!
Bye Smithchick
Bye Smithchick and happy birthday. Have a good day xx
i am half out... ready to be totally out. Good night everyone and good luck to those who hope to complete this monster... see you tomorrow!
did it take long to do inge? I'm looking for words to decide if I should start and they aren't jumping out as me like they often do
Night Dorens
Sorry, I wondered where the penguins left their tuxedos/ Now I get it
it is kinda hard to see what the picture is
I worked the puzzle off and on from 8 am to 2;30 pm, and was really loosing it there at the end
bye Dorens and thanks for the clues
I will not finish this one. I doubt I'll make it halfway
I guess it would help with a list.
hi all
there are lots of word families, doers, and plurals, I went to the list at 2/3 of the way
Hi Jillibus
well, after staring at this for about 10 minutes, I can only see about 20 words so far. That isn't even a tenth of the grid yet. :(
Hello Jillibus
Hi jilli
I know how you feel Nef, been here for about 2 hrs now and only got 84 words
for me, it seems to come in spurts.
just dropping in for a hello -- not attempting this monster!
Did anyone else get that "error on page" red chat log text box of death?
Hi Jilli
I got it this afternoon for about 10 minutes. the whole log was a sea of red.

I don't think I have seen one this large before
Actually I'm not at home -- visiting my son and family. This is my daughter-in-law's laptop. All but my son and I have gone to Boxing Day sales.
It happens to me whenever the word count goes over 300, or may even 250
It is after 5 here, I should go fix supper.
Good bye all
Bye Mom
Bye Mom -- have a good supper
one time i attempted a grid that was 470 words, hah! yah right. i gave up after about 40 words, and just to confuse you, i changed my icon :) lol
hey what the heck?
sorry, the new one wouldn't show up on my screen, but now its there
Reese's -- the guy in your new icon doesn't look like a pile of chocolate chips!
Sorry I fell off the grid and it took forever to return. On April 14 the grid was 452 words long!!! Lickety keeps records like that
Hi folks--just seeing the grid for the first time today. This is a biggie!
Well, I am also taking a break. See you all later
hey scrabbler!

Okay, then. Maybe nailbiting? This grid still holds 124 more mystery words for me! :-)
Tea and I are waiting to hear what Boxing Day is :)
oh my pardons, I thought you were talking to this gramma lol
isn't it the day you sort out the boxes from the gifts and decide which ones to return
this grid is a challenge, but it is fun
saw it fran thanks
I don't know myself Muse, would someone enlighten me too
babble alert: Scarlet gave a word
Boxing Day is the day after Christmas :)
thanks, mymuse - I was feeling ignored!
Oh. But I was, grammaterri1! Oops, mymuse busted me. Time out in the penalty box.
one of the explanations i heard was it was the day the landowners would box up food gifts for the laborers

TnC - Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated in Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. It falls on December 26th, which is also St. Stephen's Day. St. Stephen was a little known saint who achieved eternal fame by being the first Christian to be martyred for his faith, and he met his death by stoning. Boxing Day is so called because on this day it was the customary for tradesmen to collect their Christmas boxes or gifts in return for good service throughout the year. Also, it included giving money and other gifts to charitable institutions, and the needy. The holiday may date from as early as the Middle Ages, but the exact origin is not known. It may have begun with the Lords and Ladies of England, who gave Christmas boxes/gifts to their servants on December 26, or maybe by priests, who opened the church's alms (charity boxes), and distributed the contents to the poor and needy. In England, this day has become part of the celebrations, of being with family. A day to visit other relations, and to have a rest from the day before, to play fun games. Some families, buy a new game each year, but still bring out the old favourites :-) For some it is good to have the 2 days, as on one of the days you can visit with your parents, and the other day your inlaws :-) St Stephen is the patron saint of horses, so Boxing Day became associated with horse-racing and hunting. Other sports are also held on this day like football and rugby. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day is the Christmas season for us here in England.
I'm not even gonna start this stupid grid
oh why not? you don't have to finish
thanks, Jacula!
and here in Canada, jacula -- I'm visiting family right now
it's really fun Kate
Well thank you for enlightening me Jac
thanks Jac!
hi jac!
ty Jacula
hubby home, bbs
Hi folks!
bye muse
Hi Jac, hi everyone
bye muse!
bye musr
(muse)
jilli - Hope you're having a good time. We had a family meal today but it's all over now.
Thank you very much, Jac
Here in Canada Boxing Day has become a day of huge sales, with people lining up ovenight sometimes to get into the stores first.
back to the grid for me all, happy babbling
later gramma!
I'm having a really bad evening, I really want to get out of here, I've been managing somehow by telling myself I just have to get through xmas, now that's gone and I don't have anything else to aim for, I can't even book a flight until this money shows up, if it ever does, and I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel any more
ARRRGH... haven't they had enough insanity, or is that only a unique American frenzy?
Back to the grid for me - I'm here for a remaining 82 words.
Yes, jilli, here people are starting to give more money and vouchers than presents for Xmas to take advantage of Boxing Day sales. LOL
the ts please
It is also the same here Jilli, I would not go there even if I had a million pounds to spend
so, like our version of Black Friday?
jilli - they keep advertising 3-piece suites on TV here. Oh, the the usual flurry of holiday ads. I wonder if they think we wreck our sofas on Xmas Day and so need to rush and and buy new ones on Boxing Day??
hi Jac -- the celebratory meals started on Christmas Eve here -- today is my grandson's 28th birthday so we had a special brunch for that. Now they've gone to the sales (but not a dawn!)
I'm sorry you are having a hard time, kth. I wish there was something I could do for you.
katie - ((HUGS))
ts 7 - t + s**ner or later the sun shall come up, ***e, again
ty BabbleRabble
thanks babble
Thnx babble
I feel so helpless, the only thing stopping me from leaving is lack of money, and that's the only thing I can't get hold of, I'm sure that if I could get out of here the rest would fall into place, I would have family around me, a new chance with new opportunities, but I can't get there cos I can't bloody pay for it
I hate money, it is so stupid and ridiculous that everything in life depends on it
I am hoping for you every minute. I feel so bad for you in that situation. I have to agree about the money thing -- why can't you just think "if you give you shall recieve"?
Oh dear, kth -- how frustrating!
I cannot find an re5/12 it is after what you re/letter and before whats on the end of feet and toes Thanks
he's still trying to borrow this money from the gay guy for me, but the gay guy seems to be avoiding him so it doesn't look like he's going to get it
re + person, speedfreak
hi all, back for more hair pulling 8-)
Duh!! Thanks Vedaman easy ones right in front of your face
Hi again, Gwen.
Hi Gwen
This whole thing with the money is so stupid! I think that "if you give, you shall recieve" might work, the only problem is that there are so many people who are greedy and wouldn't only take what they needed ... and then there are luxuries that would have to be divied ... but that could end the problems of hunger, I guess. America might have to give up some food, though.
done finally, feel like i've been doing this all day, oh wait i have been
the he6/21 that follows "he4/4 and now"
For all of you pros - a question ... what are the advantages of having a pro account?
Congratulations, pabtrek!
Yippee, pab... you are now an alien... a smart one! Good work!
Well done, pab!
YAY pB!!!
thanks everybody could not have done it without the chat and lickety's list
Hints for an7 please.
MP, there's a grid that shows you how many words you have left of each letter. It's helpful!
ok please help with another r this time ro6/18 after what plants have in the ground Thanks
I have that, and I'm not a pro.
speedfreak what birds do at night
mp you get it for two weeks free
mp you get the stats for 14 days then it disappears unless you pay
harpjane it is after that one
gramma - an7 = more cross/annoyed.
pinker
MP,you can also use icons and put your profile with it, and get a flag. Doing the daily icons is fun too, as is seeing the other bablers' versions of the theme
Speed... maybe the tint of blush, only moreso
Jac, ty
Thank you!!!
I took my wedding ring off today, I don't know what I should do with it
Hock it, kth.
Right I'm going off to die with my cold somewhere. In the 3hrs I have got 149 words, how disappointing. See you all tomorrow
it's not worth that much, I only paid £15 for it
Isn't that againt some silly rule, kth? I mean, I thought you were supposed to wear it all the time. But if you don't, try a necklace ... before the move you probably want to keep it with you so that it doesn't get lost.
Ren8... no dying... you must live to Babble another day... do you have any Earl Grey tea and some brandy?
Or just brandy?
bye, ren8 -- feel better!
mp my marriage is over, why would it be bad luck to take the ring off
I am having a beer but I think a lemsip is now in order
You said it, kth... it no longer holds any special meaning... it's just a thing. reni, what is a lemsip?
Isn't MOM technically an abbreviation for MOTHER? I mean, it wouldn't let me do GRAMMY, but that's an abreviation for mother. Oh, and it's not MOM I got in, obviously, it's something else like that.
what's a lemsip?
'Bye ren8. You'll live to Babble another day.
Finally finished...think I have sat here all day off and on with this laptop...I have a couple of minutes to help before family screams for supper
Oh ... good point.
Well done, speed!
A hot lemon drink to soothe aches and pains
Great going, speedfreak!
YAY speedfreak!!!
Well done Speedfreak
that makes sense, ren8
lemsip = lemon, paracetamol & aspirin powder, taken as a hot drink. Often has a decongestant in it, too.
Is it medicated, or just the heat and the citrus combine to clear sinuses?
Oh, thanks, Jac.
Now I am going, Bye
Scarlet - see below.
'Bye ren8. Snuffle-free sleep to you.x
Got it, Jac. Bye, ren7 and a half!
Nothing else got done today but at least I finished the big puzzle....priorities right?!!
I wonder what the North American equivalent of paraacetamol is -- Tylenol (acetominaphen?)
you don't have paracetamol there???
scuse the typos -- not used to this borrowed laptop
not by that name, kth
not to nose in on your drug talk, but FDA in US is so picky, most of the meds we can't get are sold over the counter elsewhere...grrr
you're right jill, google search says paracetamol is acetomni... what you said lol
jilli - Tylenol is probably the one, since one of the brands here is Tylex.
help -- need to NO words -- I think they are the third and fourth ones
I get penicillin over the counter in Brazil, from a friend
two NO words, i meant
It was the aceta bit that was the tip-off
my brother flies to Mexico to get drugs for his CF son that he can't get here
I am happy I feel I am getting better at Babble/
at least not without a 50 dollar trip to the doc first, it's aggravating sometimes
oh, the "acetas" are non-prescription things
sure I understand jilli, just wanted to put my two cents in on health care and drug in the US lol
too much use of penicillin makes the bugs resistant for when you really need an antibiotic
right on, grammaterri!
we do overdo drugs, I understand that, but I KNOW when I need an antibiotic (greenies leaking out lol)
they don't have the type of bugs that are resistant in Brazil like we do here
Okay, logging out, bye everybody
lol off my soapbox, back to the grid
bye MP!
bye mp
'Bye MP.
hi everyone
hi natasha
root
um, ok I'll root. Hooray everyone! Go babblers!
dang, I was hoping that wouldn't show up here
lol
We've got a washing spray called 'Vanish' here, jilli. Try spraying it on your post. *Tosses a can over.*
catches as catch can -- ta, jac
There's also 'Vanish' soap. I tried washing my 'excess' bits in the shower with it... didn't work.:( LOL
LOL, Jac
Hi, Nat.
How's it going Jac? and everyone...did you all have nice holidays (whatever it is you celebrate)?
I did it. Amazing, but true. My brain held up to the end of this grid. Pretty sure there is nothing left however! :)

Ma 7/40 horse plus single hump letter opposite of stop.
Jac, i have a link you might like, do you like the scorpions?
thanks, natasha, but i don't know how i did it! I don't know how you, and anyone else who has been here did it, LOL
pam - The early times, as you try to adjust to an 'amended' family, are hard. You will come through. ((HUGS))
WHEW! Done finally...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=UvDNWpTt89E
This was the first year that we've added my ex's new partner into the holiday celebration, so that was different. It really feels like we're creating a new family with the 5 of us, and hopefully someday 6.

Thanks, Fran. Will check it out later. About to put my headphones on and listen to the new Cat Stevens CD I had for Xmas.
cool jac!
About two and a half years, pam. We've been apart about 3.
i just thought the video was great because the classical musicians seemed to enjoy playing the heavy metal and were really getting into it.
cool jac
Fran, I love it when different musical genres mash up.
His first album in 30 years!
that is a while. I am impressed that it wasn't til this year that he was integrated...
me too natasha, breaking barriers is always good in anything.
wow thats a long time between recors
I like the genre mashing, too!
Fran - Thanks. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I'd better find my last 23 words before transporting myself anywhere musically, I guess.
lol
Fran link didn't work for me :(
Well, he's been going to his family and meeting up with M and the kids when they go to visit her parents. He's really become a parent as well, so it would be crazy for him not to be there.
i should be going home soon but i cant be arsed
so, i missed the misicians that were combined, do tell again, please
Seems to make sense, Natasha. Were you okay with it all?
mymuse - go onto YouTube and search for Scorpions live with Berlin Orchestra. That should work.
muse, the name of the video is "Scorpions - Rock you Like a Hurricane 2000"
Jac i got the Wall dvd for chrissy that has Scorpians singing
if you do a search for that it should come up.
*Holds nose and dives back into depths of 's' and 't' world in grid. * (Thank gawd it wasn't S & M! LOL.)
yes, pam I was--in the last 6 months I've really come to a new place about all of this.
You may remeber the concert in the 90s for the Berlin Walll, the other half got it for me for chrissy
cool infernal
you are something, Natasha!!!!
ok got it thanks everyone!
I
thanks pam
I was happy little kitty, its The Walll done as a rock concert with Ute Lemper and everything, very cool
It sounds like you have attained a great understanding of yourself. When you are ready, I hope you meet someone.
I'm confident that I will Pam, but I feel like I need to spend some more time by myself first.
Nat - That is very true. The time I spent by myself (apart from being a single mum, that is) ws valuable and healing over the years.
That makes sense, Natasha. and jac
Being alone has been and will continue to be therapeutic...
that's good to hear Jac, sometimes I worry that I'm just avoiding the risk of dating again. it feels right for me though.
Obviously, I panicked every now and then, tried to find love... wasn't ready. Love did actually turn up on my doorstep when I wasn't looking for it and wasn't feeling needy. Life has a way of working out.
But, that doesn't mean I like it, You know?
i moved out by myself after being with someone for 3 years now im with the boy of my dreams and i am starting to feel confident that i could live with someone again
My aunt always says, one door closes and window opens
yeah, pam I hear you.
Pam - No. Loneliness is terrible. I think it has to be endured maybe for something better and good to be recognised and welcomed.
Well, the loneliness isn't everpresent. I liek being alone, too. It's just there are tiems when it feels horrid
this is hy i like animals more than humans, they are loyal and treat you with love and kindness
Evening all, any clue for the HE6/21 right by the "All Creatures Great & Small" (sort of) author? Please and thank you...
... And for you to come to that point where you 'just know' when the Right One turns up. I never believed it was true until it happened.
I give Pam and Nat a BIG HUG

Hands jac a life jacket as i don't want to loss her
I have a model of a frog wearing a golden crown on my kitchen window sill. He's holding up a notice that reads, 'KISS ME!'
*Puts on life jacket before diving.*

Hi, Pam
ne4/7 is ne + no **s, ands or buts
ooooh tricky Jac
Ok hand jac a fresh towel that i pinched from the towel boy
ne4/5 is ne + pa's husband
he6/21 = he** and now + preposition
ne6/18 is ne + grab the ***n* (used to steer a horse)
163 left
Fran I think you meant pa's wife which I found before your attempt at a clue :)
he** and now + opposite of off
Thank you, thank you, mymuse.
Here's a stupid question... do they post the answers so we can get better at this?
lol, yeah that's what i meant peri!
how about the gr 6/36?
mom, you'll be able to view the word list in the archives tomorrow
or after the flip
Thanks
*waiting for nat's clue, because i need it too)
gr6/36 like the music award diff vowel
gr + tv award = gr 6,36
oh wait, i had that!
mom2jgd - Go into the archives after the flip, click on 'view word list' and all will be revealed.
13 to go...
gr6,36 sounds like what you would call your grandmother with a different vowel
I'm finding now that adding the Chinese dynasty to many words already found is getting me nearer the pyrotechnics.
why doesn't the dictionary have a meaning, it only has the pronunciation. bah!
Nat - it means a novice surfer or one who isn't very good at surfing. Alternate spelling. Click on the blue bit.
fireworks thanks for all the clues.
any other clues needed before I head for Quote Puzzler?
thanks jac!
congrats bookwomen!!
yay bookwomen!!

I didn't know fish had fingers.
Google fish lasagna and see if you can get a recipe
http://www.martins-seafresh.co.uk/Web_ Recipes3/recipes.htm heres one
I realize I'm prejudiced as I don't like fish in general, but fish lasagna sounds quite repulsive
(fish lasagne *rocks* by the way. *poofs in and out quickly* salmon and cod and prawns)
Heres one more thats messed up. fish tacos
Might do that later, re the fish dish, herinfern. Finally found the t word for the guy who likes foot digits! I knew it was there but kept trying to put an 'e' in it.

*thought
hmm, sounds doable, but don't know how it would taste.
I have 6 troublesome t's left to find. BRB.
by the way, fish tacos are very good, especially when made with fresh ahi (bluefin tuna)
I think you'd have to lose the breadcrumb coating, Fran.
fish tacos sound edible, whereas the lasagna idea is one whose time has not come
perhaps jac is just ahead of her time
hi eva!
hi Fran!
can someone give me the clue to gr 6,36?
can't believe I almost missed the greek temple. It seems it shows up in more grids than any other word.
Cod with dill, white pepper and salt, chuck a can of tomatoes on top and then finish off with a layer of white breadcrumbs mixed with white pepper and salt, finely chopped onion and cheddar cheese. Delicious!
rosewood, like big music award, but change the first vowel
that does sound good jac.

You son had a brain laps and thought it was a good idea?
some dogs are great travellers...........ours is
to6,24?
to6/24 = foot digit + gerund
she's a great traveler, but i don't think my son realizes that the dog needs to get out and do her business and the baby is not going to be a happy camper stuck in his car seat for hours on end
mkl, to**** the line
make it a road trip stop half way, see the sites etc safer to stop and go, How far are they traveling?
they are in San Diego, I'm in Kalispell, MT. it's just a bit over 1000 miles
hello, 78 to go
hi harp
The last to6,18?
Road trip, Get them to get a travel plan and stop for the night somewhere, road trip, make it a game and its not so painful
*giggling at lbd's son's predicament...* my parents traveled all over the country with dog and kids in the car, but it they haven't done it before, it's going to be a real eye-opener for him!
lol lbd, my niece is driving from missoula to San Diego today maybe they'll meet each other at a truck stop in Nevada!
my son did well when we drove from NY to FL (1800 miles). We would stop and walk around and play a little at the rest stops and meal times. MOst of the time he slept.
hi all -- I see lots of lovely words in the grid, but am still resolved to stay out of this one!
to+ do ** mi + fish eggs minus the es
I think younger toddlers are the hardest to travel with because they really need all the movement. Older kids and ones that aren't walking yet seem better able to travel.
dawg, I know what you're talking about. Our last cross country was made with two dogs and a cat. They get antsy just like us and need to get out.
Well, it will be a lesson learned the hard way. which is how my son learns most of his lessons! lol
Sometimes my parents would travel at night when we were asleep and then get a motel room so we could play during the day.
hiya stid
*whispering* (must be a guy thing, lbd!)
hi stid
hi kalea! how's life today? survive the services this weekend?
Pounce on stid
My son called at 4:30 PST, and said they were just leaving the house. Hoped to get to lost wages in 5 hours. uh huh
hi lady! hi muse!
Being in the military, we've tried every which way to travel cross country. That last one was the worst!
life is siooooooooooooooooooooooo good, stid............and all the services were lovely, and i got the best present of all
uh uh
oh lbd! there's a weather system moving through their path -- have they at least driven those roads before?
to 6 - a detour ****utes traffic
I traveled a lot with my dogs. stopping every 2 hours or so to switch drivers, walk the dogs and usually water everyone. that on a good day took at least a half hour.
*guessing at best present of all* breakfast in bed? not having to do dishes? the kids were there?
i dont drive i have car rage so its a bad thing
can someone clue the gr 6/24 that comes after the sound I'll make when I realize I should have seen the freaking word 15 minutes ago?

Thnx babble - how did I miss that?
i've been a counselor for 26 years at the college level. i really am tired of the babysitting and the sniveling. but i loved the students who needed my services as a counselor.

sorry about the yelling but you guys are talking so loud that I'm sure she didn't here me the first time
sweet zzzzzzzzzzzz's nat
Slleep well, Natasha
ty mymus!
but overall, Xmas wasn't too bad even with the dearth of gifts for me -- the family is healthy, Kirsten's dad was home from the hospital in time for the day, the magic was there for my daughter (Santa left a gift under her tree in her room) -- so I can't complain
Stid have you heard for Daisy?
my nephew started the grid ! but gooooo stid

good nite nat
thanks muse
sweet dreams NA!
debb. someone who can bend and twist in all sorts of positions is called a conto*****ist

heard from Daisy
well the commandoes came back in from the hot tub and my son decided that if guys are commandoes then women woudl be veterans. i don't get it =)
not in a couple weeks, Faerie, she stopped IMing or emailing me and I haven't seen her in the chat since before the big storm
Woulfie, sounds like a marvelous day.
My biggest complaint is that today was my last day of vacation and with the stress of holiday prep and other concerns before hand today was the first/only day I could really start to relax :-(
what was everyone's favorite present ??
kier, i don't get it either.
{{{Woulf}}} glad you pulled it off for your daughter... I know you were up getting gifts ready really late
clash dvd
hmmmm same here Stid I hope everything is alright with her *I'm worried now*
Ah well -- my vac time renews with the new year -- I will just have to plan to take some time away from any major holidays
mine was slippers that massage my feet
i don't know yet Woulfie, all the presents are still under the tree.
stid -- I didn't get to bed til 3:30 am -- thankfully Seb cooperated and let me sleep til 8 before waking me up
I think she's okay. I said something she didn't like, which I am sure explains her not contacting me. This is a hard time of year for her so she is probably just avoiding all the talk about holidays.
mine was garnet/silver earrings my hubby bought on the 21st and gave to me within 2 hours because he couldn't wait until xmas
that's sweet kier!
lol, i'm not sure if my hubby has even done his shopping yet!
that's nice kier
Ok Stid I know she wasn't looking forward to the Holidays so hopefully thats all it is
hubby also bought me earrings, but the thought behind the slippers made me feel good since I tore something in my foot
Now the coolest gift I would have to say that we received was a copy of the new Monopoly Here and Now game that is autographed by Mr Monopoly himself -- Kirsten's stepuncle just retired from Milton Bradley but he is Mr Monopoly for guest appearances :-)
cool beans woulf!
heard about that, very cool
WAY cool, Woulf!
owie muse!
that is totally kool wolf!!!

clue for the ta 6/27 please
well, hubby whined about not knowing what to give me so i gave him a brief list that included chocolate, 'inconvenient truth', chocolate and anything with silver/garnets =)
oh -- I have that book somewhere helen, LOVE it! (or did I loan it to my grandmother?) still LOVE it!
I go a can opener that brags it works equally well with either hand!

'inconvenient truth' is awesome, eye-opening, scary
thanks
i saw inconvenient truth but wanted to buy it. also want to get the new Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam cd
kier -- Kirsten did the same for me -- she gave me a wishlist that had about 15 things on it with the statement that she wasn't expecting everything, but I HAD to get her the silver/moonstone ring that was first on the list
that is cool woulf... i always think that i don't want jewelry for presents but he picks out some nice stuff (but affordable!)
