I've been married to a welshman for 25 years, and I am lucky to understand some. The spelling is really hard!
Hi Stid, missed you
that last one, TO -- is NOT in the grid! LOL
oogy is too a word

to i can't get hell to work
I like it! there's a cool game on the BBC site called "colin and Cumberland" that lets me practice vocabulary words. I think it's a beautiful language...
I did, Jill -- and proud o' me Irish roots, that I am!

riemann is giggling about the way I spell Welsh words. :-(
my kids have learned a lot from it, but they also don't have much opportunity to use it.
jilli, that's a great fun fact
fabio
sorry chix - did you say what time?
how old are you kids georgia? my parents were just plain old English speakers... but I had a chance to learn spanish for the first time when I was five and find it really easy to pick up again when it's around.

I figured -- you know for basic vocabulary I find that knowing some Welsh (by sound now, not writing) lets me understand a tiny bit of Irish once I figure out the mutations

couldn't Douglas speak clingon?
ah -- but it's written Klingon...
"clingon" is, I believe, the knee-high stocking that inevitably adheres to ones lovely gown on a first date...

Hi all. Usually just lurk. Need some sympathetic vibes to stop the rain. Our sump pump seems to have quit - I have to run down to the basement every 15 minutes and fill a bucket, bring it up and pour it down the drain. Really interferes with Babbling!

botting
whew finally fireworks.... not as many words, but thought this grid was tough
well all see you later *poof"
do you get firworks if your free trial has ended?
zysx, no, you need to upgrade to pro to get fireworks
Fireworks are a reward for completion?
yes, where the tile stats are. Once you complete the grid, the fireworks appear in that area
Ah cool.. Still can't understand how people complete the grids.. I'm not stupid, and it seems hard =D
there is a list from Lickety (the link is under the tile stats), that gives you the first 2 letters of each word and how many letters and the point value
then there is the enable dictionary where Babble gets the words. Also www.a2zwordfinder.com if you enter the first 2 letters it will give you all the words that begin with those letters
it was weeks before I completed my first grid and I always need to get clues from the log and lickety to finish
loin
sorry
It is rare that I use a list but I do use the clues. I don't strive to finish a grid. I aim for halfway
No need to be sorry scarydeb
boon
Thanks, Mom.. Don't tell mine I said that. The Lickety bit will help a bunch, the rest sounds good too.
there, I did it too. It is so easy to do
I force myself to get half done before I resort to licketys list but I must admit I check the log for clues (and also give some free answers as well!!)
clog
See, easy as pie.
I am good at giving free answers
:o)

hi, all
hey pam
hi pam
hello, pam
i noticed that people commented on the lack of winter in parts of the world... el nino? There is a report on the news
Hi Pam
hi, aloy, garyand julie, cliff, etc
Global warming, Pam ...
must be setting records all over the place today
they said maybe global warming, maybe a fluke, maybe el nino
hard to say, just know that i MISS winter
cliffopa, we set a new HIGH at 3:44 A.M. today near Worcester, MA. Amazing
Howdy everyone! A big hello from the balmy almost tropical shores of Lake Champlain. 56 degrees here today. The sun is shinning, the birds are singing and life is Wrong. This is Vermont! What the ???
forecast for 86 degrees here in sw fla today
hi, gramma!
LOL gramma -- it's 57 right now
ch1212, worcester! my son went to wpi for 6 yrs, lots of great restaurants in the area.
We moved here from Idaho in September, so we're still finding our way around.
ch1212, you are considered a Southern state to us. No surprise it would be warmer. Golf, boating, gardening anyone?
56 here in NH lakes region. time for a swim!
gramma, we did drive up to Brattleboro, VT a few weeks ago -- beautiful state!
it is just not right, LOL!
Actually it's a bit frightening because the bears are coming out of hibernation. Lots of tracks and scratchings. I think they must be cranky with so little rest.
that is the frightening side
The trends are disturbing -- there is, for example, a type of catepillar that comes out at a certain time each year. It feeds on a plant that comes out 2 weeks before. Last year the catepillars came out 3 weeks early, and most died for lack of food.
brb--laundry beckons
Kazzer, in answer to your inquiry, I don't have CI7 yet. Sorry.
funny you should mention that ch1212-at work the other day I noticed a catepillar on the sidewalk and thought how odd for this time of year.
Hi everyone, thnx for the re 9 clue. I wasn't there yet, but I took advantage of it......
laundry, ugh - guess i'd better go do some of that.
Nonnie, I read the article in Scientific American last year -- it was on just one type of catepillar - don't know if it's the type you saw or not. But multiple that one type by hundreds more as this progresses, and the food chain suddenly looks pretty scary.
Please don't use obscenities on the chat! The "L" word is unacceptable.
LOL gramma!
so is the "D" word (dishes - dirty)
The "H" word in general - housework
ursh! don't make me come over there. Enough of that talk!
ch1212, Okay that's it.I'm pulling the car over and you're gonna get it! Please stop!
:D
BRB
okay question, who here has had a flu shot?
I did -- my first ever this year
G'd morning Babblers!
Never had a flu shot, couldn't pay me to get one. :)
who doesn't because of side effects?
Flu shots here seem to make people ill - so i avoid having one and just swallow more vitamins
I would fall into that category Evan, among otehr reasons.
i wanna hear the other reasons.
did a few years ago eva. wasn't any better or worse off forit
I've never had one before because of side effects and general dislike of needles. But we just moved here, and there were some major stressors this past year, so I decided to take precautions
mother in law insists i get one
I have little to no faith in their "guesses" of what strain(s) will be on the go in any given year, to name one.
but i get a huge painful hot to touch swollen area size of a fist at the site
are you an at risk person? asthmatic or something like it?
husband is, but he had his
I'm not at risk in general, but with all the stress this past year I knew my immune system wasn't as strong as usual.
I got one for the 1st time this year, and my arm hurt for 2 days. I have asthma
i have a latex allergy, which many are stored in, she insists that isn't the problem
Mom and DAd are 84 and 78 respectively and also do not get flu shots. Many of their friends do, and seem to have reactions in varying forms.
and since continued exposure to latex is supposed to worsen the allergy, i don't think i should.
i edited a paper for an agricultural business about vaccinations. you wouldn't believe the crap they put in shots for animals and human use. the cost/benefit analyses were terrifying. ie. how many people are killed, blinded, suffer brain fevers or debilitating side effects before the profit marging shrinks. no hots for me.
A latex allergy is nothing to fool with, that's for sure.
bonkler, would be interested in researching that -- if you want to post the paper, let us know the link.
i'm having trouble finding info online to support my argument to her, not that i'm going to be bullied into one. i just want her to admit that i shouldn't
Some homework on the "marketing" of flu shots is an undertaking worthwhile for leisure time.
clue for ci7/32 please?
they don't need marketing, the news does it for them i swear.
hi, lori, nut, bonkler
Evan, chances are she won't admit it, ever. News is a form of marketing, IMO.
hey pammy poo
G'd morning Pam.
kthdsn, are you still on?
anyone have a clue for the at7?
i'll have a look. that was on my old computer so i don't have a copy. not sure if the company still has it posted. but there are lots and lots of things online. remember the big anthrax scare? george the shrub wanted to vaccinate everyone. anthrax vaccine kills one in thousand. that's a thousand dead per million shots or about 300,000 dead if everyone in america got the shot.
sorry fit and chiley, no clues ready yet
thanks anyway evan :)
morning everyone
same here--no clues yet, LOL
Morning Bonkler
creepy isn't it bonkler?
morning bonk
congratulate a male child by saying at short version on thanks and then oppositeof girl
anglo should be acceptable
Evan "Most brands of influenza vaccine are packaged in vials or syringes that contain natural rubber or latex. Persons with a severe allergy to latex generally should not receive vaccine packaged in these vials or syringes."
http://www.vaccineinformation.org/flu/ qandavax.asp
sorry my typing is awful. stillg etting used to small laptop keyboard
evanonut, did you check out the CDC site for 'who should not take' different kinds of flu shots?
nice clue, garyandjulie
I agree aloy
nope, was just googling flu shot garyandjudie
saw a similar version earlier on. Which is only how I got it
thanks for the links and info ... I shall embark on some research (one of my favorite things to do anyway :)
Evan, later, I can find more. I went through this same discussion last year, with a friend. (I won....)
wow garyandjulie. That was a dynamite clue. thanks
the one year i got the flu shot, because i was volunteering around an immuno-suppressed population, I got bronchitis...
yw :o)
thanks lorip
the problem with flut shots is that it is impossible to know how many were helped, only those who weren't.
hello
the thing about the flu shot is you can't prove ANYONE was helped
hi, harp
Happy Epiphany harpjane
yw. Flu shots (this is only IMO), are popular because if you repeat something often enough, people believe it to be true.
all i know is i have bronchitis right now and i am miserableI cant even find simple words
G'd morning Harpjane.
sorry, wurdy...
Lori, what does IMO mean? I've seen it here a couple times before

G'd morning mousey and Annie
In my babble world anticlog is a word.

back
hi stid....
hi arlene
isn't that ab8 word used in the US?
at7/44 plz
TO, I know the word, too.... but spelling it????
ty marpocky
yes it is. ata...but there are so few butcher shops anymore.
I suppose it was embedded in our consciousness over here from the mad cow / foot and mouth episodes. Every news article contained that word for months!
in an urban area you will find them especially ethnic ones, but that's about it, at least in the northeast.
I miss the old butcher shops...really good service...so few of the old butcher shops around
I need the 1st AN 6 pls
at7/44 plz
an 6, type of sheep or wool
'm so lucky here, I have 2 butchers, a fishmongers and a ton of greengrocers in town
at7/44= at + short for thanks + young male
MM something you shout as encouragement
thanks, Ishult!
i can't believe that is acceptable!!!!!!!!
I thought an6 was a wabbit
my \either......
thats what I said!!
ata, a wegman's market just opned here. it has food, hard goods, a diteician to plan ameal for you and make a shopping list of ingriedients, a cheese shop, chinese buffet bar, cook station to make meals to eat in their dining room or take home....
oh wow! that sounds amazing
ok laundry's done... need to go hang it up.... back in couple of hours
Wegman's? Went to one in Binghamton NY. Awesome market!
temple, that is really something, it can become a tourist attraction!
TO... that sounds like something I'ld love to have in my area..... onsidering I set the fire alram off cooking eggs this morng=ing
ata: when i walk through it i feel like the ugly american...i am getting dotty in my approaching old age. seems wasteful
ba6/30?
i actually toook my faterh there on his visit - great for someone who can't cook
oh bye arlene
I hate going into our big supermarkets here for the same reason. There is *so* much in them, and you can just see so much of it will be wasted. Its soul destroying
but it is very awesome and the meats and fish are good.
bye, see you later
movieman, alter the ab7/44
bye annie! *fingers crossed*
bye, Annie--happy coloring!
ty temple......
I hate supermarkets as well
ok i have to go it's going to be 65 and i want to hang shhets on the line - later
byeeeee!
bye owl
bye TO -- no sunshine here
ata, kate: i know from working the food bank that at least one market gives dents and discontinued items to them. also some bakeries when they have excess from their orders
area organizations have been quite aggressive to make second harvest programs to use what might be waste.
including fresh vegetable excess from gardens
I hate the way supermarkets are tailored to standard western diets, ie junk food, the main part of a diet should be fruit and veg, yet they only have 2 aisles for those
not anymore, kate. lots of produce and lots of organic
pls help with the last BA pls
that's wonderful, TO. there was a big scandal here a year or so ago because a particular huge supermarket chain were throwing sandwiches / fresh food away rather than giving it to homeless people / organisations in case the people who ate it sued them for the food being out of date
not here yet
the organic section in my nearest supermarket is about a foot wide
pah, my last ba is plural of ba before it; it's 5/14 think of what goes int o furniture to pad it
same here, kate, and organic food is soooo expensive
thats the one! thnx - If you don't have words inbetween there is a 7 & 8
ata, that is a real concern. for w few years i ran a large confernce for our ceo. we had to search out an organization that would take leftovers, many will not tkae open food becuase of concerns. We finally found a place for lovely fresh fruit tray - shelter for mentally ill homeless women. felt so good
I would love to eat organic fruit and veg with a small amount of other healthy food added in but it's just impossible to do that because the store sells such rubbish
clue si7/36 pls
good day to all. i am stuck at 47. i think this is hard but then it may just be me. i need at5/10, have the oine that means out of whack
I used to live in a city with a huge homeless population, and I got really upset with supermarkets then. Now I've moved, the issue has gone to the back of my mind, but it shouldn't have done
I don't have any at5s sorry mag
kate, there was a book publushed called "the supoermarket handbaook" now out of print but i bet there aare others. told good brands to be found without going to health food store. even better, told how to read labels and what to avoid.
there is the space at the top of a house
magzel - at + what is put on roads
gotta go for now
bye phan
any clues for st 6/18
thanks kazzar, swear i tried that
owl there is one health food store in this town and it's worse than the supermarkets, it sells mainly bottles of pills, vitamins, weight loss, herbal stuff, very little actual food
at5/10 - use McAdam's invention to make a sweet smell.
at5/12 - at the top of the house.
Good Clue Haz
Hello Kazzer - I'm late getting started today.
all the more reason to do it yourself. kate i am of italian heritage we traditionally cook simply meat as condiment fresh foods
hi haz!
I don't eat meat owl, which makes it even harder to shop lol
Hello TO - are you well?
i'm ok haz - you?
James used to make a wonderful chilli from fresh veg and beans with rice, he's coming round on Tuesday night to show me how he made it
need ba 8/60 please
We are lucky where we live we have 3 good butchers 2 bakers and a fish man on saturdays - its not bad for a smallish place
mag: fighting
I'm okay - drying my tears having said goodbye to my daughter going back to university.
ba 8/60 what you do when you fight soemthing
awwww *hands haz a tissue*
I used to have a box of local grown organic fruit and veg delivered once a week which was wonderful but when we moved here I couldn't find another service that was reasonably priced
Thank you! It'll get soggy.....
thanks. see it now
aaawww haz *hugs*
*hands haz the whole box*
back again -- Hi to those who joined in my absence
I'll be fine, but when she cries as well it just sets me off.
hi nan
Hi nan!
Hi again
hi nan. actually i am going now - see you all tonight happy babbling
Oh Haz -- her first year away from home?
Haz , maybe your daughter and my son know each other, he's at Edinburgh doing PhD !
on please!
Hi Kazzer!
Hi - how are you doing
She's in her second year, nan, and who knows, lizmac, she might! It's just not nice having to say goodbye to her.
I saw him for exactly 4 hours this holiday as he had an essay to get in and worked the whole holiday!
ba 6/30 please
Off on errands, see you all tonight
I am doing just fine thank you. I just finished eating pancakes with stidhat and riemann.
My sons 28 and lives with my mum so i miss him like crazy but he visits about once every 3 months
Oh goodness, liz, that sounds like hard work! She had exams before coming home so did nothing when she was here. I think it's going to be a rude awakening on Monday morning.
Mr Swotty even worked through Hogmanay, so much for carefree student days, eh?
ba6/30 fling mammal plus suffix
May I ask what is HOgmanay?
brb my kids just got home, they've been out with my auntie
It IS hard work - fortunately she seems to be pretty motivated as well and achieved good grades in her essays etc.
Hogmanay is the name of the Scottish New Year celebrations, inge
what is she studying, Haz?
Thanks hydra
New Year's Eve, Inge. BIG thing here. Students normally go out and party hard then (and at any other time of course)
Sorry, very rude of me. Hello, all.
thanks kazzar
Business Studies is her main subject - quite intensive and involving statistics etc...
I got fireworks in the midst of all this chat. Any clues needed?
argh stats!
First I will go and find a new icon
WTG INGE~!~~!!~~!~!!~!~!
well done inge, I am still looking for my first fireworks..
My son's girlfriend did the same at St Andrew's, Haz. As you say, pretty hard work!
Congrats, Inge
Exactly, Atalante, and like me, numbers dont' really feature in her expertise.
Well done, inge!
Welcome back riemann!
Liz - I think business studies gets a bad name as people think it's an easy ride. It's not!
congrats, inge!
*chuckle* Well, breakfast is over.
there is life after stats. we had to do sooo much in marine biology degree. but they tend to vanish in the real world
65 left and off to lickety
list
Some statistics are more vital than others! But she'll be glad to see the back of them.
That is true!
Well Julia certainly had a heavy workload with the course. No easy ride. Haz
Inge - st 6/18 please
Anyway, back to the even more unfathomable grid!!
It is a bit of a bear, isn't it?
I'm going to be switching back and forth from Babble to IronSudoku.
Yep, only half way so far
this grid is hard today I'm stuck with 66 to go
what ironsudok like tonight
There, I have a few minutes between domestic diva duties. I fel like frustrating myself, so decided to return to the grid...
bo 5/22 and the 6/30 after it please
Good God, I got a word!
The an 6 anyone?
Think sweater material, Lori
but not the ones requested
bo5/22 is dancing from the 70s
an 8?
and the 6/30 is the opposite of cheering
There, I have updated my icon. Now, whom may I help?
an + wait un*** it's ready + study of type ending
an 8: against + part of tree + ssometime vowel
thanks, kate -- a new one for me
The at7 anyone please ;-))
at + thanks + young male
at7: the reverse of the logarithm
any clues for st 6/30 and 2 ta5/10 and final ta 4/4 please?
Thank ye for the an 6. (brain freeze)
can anyone explain why my an6 says I've already used it but it isn't in my list?
my icon still shows the fist, will refresh again
thanks so much kate, so obvious now
st6/30 - describes the after-effect of a wasp attack
Wonderful clues thanx everyone ;-))
st6/30 = st4/6 + a letter
attic
aargh! never mind. can
Ok..just refreshed and it appeared.
can't type :(
now what does my icon show??
now I know why I can't get my last 6 words. Probably mistyped them all 12 times each
Oops getting my brain confused - st 6/18
The first at 5/10 please?
st 6/18 : erson doing the st 4
at5 = aslope
at 10 : a + on a slant
Thank ye. Everything is soooo far away to me today.
thanx Inge
at 5"? have upper region of house
thanks, inge -- just saw your clue
Only 3 to go
at + blakc stuff on road surface
at5/10 - associated with perfume, add McAdam's invention.
at 7?
at7/44 - an encouragement to a young male.
Nan - sowmthing you'd say to encourage a lad
Go Kazzer!
does anyone else have a hard time calling up definitions? It takes forever here.
yes inge, not loading for me at all right now
Gee, only 99 left to go...
thanks, Haz and Lori -- drawing a blank at the moment
My definitions laded fine here. Just checked.
The young male is at the end of the word, so it's at, reverse the first letters, then the ending.
Or, they even lOaded... :)
some definitions wont come up at all on my computer. I just wanted to see what my monkeys typed in
ty -- since when was that a word!!!
You tell me!
Don't know what this language of ours is coming to! ;)
en 6/21, the first one and en6/18 please
en6/18 - the action taken by men wishing to become soldiers
Back now - How Atalante - my chicken and mushroom casserole (low fat) is bubbling away on the cooker, and Dar Williams on the CD Player.
en6/21 - not sure if it is the first - en plus a reworking of Abel's brother.
mmmmm matty!
I've got a quorn kiev and a vegetable and cheese grill thing in the oven and the sound of kids wittering
the second no4 please I have the "not having any"
any clues on the ta 5/10? PLEASE, PLEASE ,PLEASE
I don't get the Abel brother reference - the only brother of Abel I know isn't there...
I'm really feeling pleased with myself, started a "diet" on New Year's Day. Just eating sensible food, all natural, no refined sugar, plus at least 30 mins exercise a day not including dog walk. I thought I'd give in after a day, but actually I've really enjoyed this week. Good start!
well done ata that's great
KMS french for black
thanks haz, got them both
I've been on a diet since the week before Xmas - lost 4 pounds so far, but tomorrow is my next weigh in (in my bedroom) - so fingers crossed!
*fireworks*
The Abel brother - killed by his brother in Genesis. It sounds like Citizen Kane.
ty kazzar I thought I had entered every combination
Yah - but I can't see it in the grid....
t+picnic pest +4th vowel
go matty! you know what, everyone here is doing wonderfully this new year
cittari
I decided to eat sensibly only when I'm hungry so that I don't pile on the weight I lost with the stress, and so far I've kept it off and lost a couple more pounds, i'm only 5 away from my skinny goal now but I'll be content staying right where I am
cittar
there is a ta 5 meaning so big in Spanish, and another ta 5: ta + black road surface
magzel: put the a before the t and put an o in that place
matty - it's a reworking or an anagram of the letters.
hi all, clue for the si7/36, please?
2007 is going to be a fantastic year, I've decided to make sure of it, no more sitting back letting life pass by, I'm going to work at making it great
me too, kate
en 6? -- only one I have is to sign up with the army
Got it Haz - thanks!
si 7: the gerund of that grain storage tower
tx inge, got it!
Cybernan, it sounds a little like a Californian suburb - I belive the made a movie en.... Man (but put a different vowel at the end)
en6/21, en plus the Abel's brother reworking (glad you got it, matty) and en6/21 - en, a vowel, then the start of what a tongue can do.
is it just me or is this one a little on the hard side?
thanks, matty
how about ra 6/18? (the 2nd one)
It's not just you, hurshy.
It's hard - what a *tongue* can do?
not just you hurshy, it's awful today
thanks, haz
Got it!
it was one of my harder ones, Hursh. Then again I have good or bad days independent of wha the grid is like
Or, matty, the start of the insect of which nit is the young.
You've got it,good, matty!
it is, hurshy -- gave up and went to the list with 65 to go
i still managed to squeak out my 80% on my own but it was like pulling teeth
a clue for ci 7/32 please
Omygod, I'll never forget when my daughter was around 8 (she's 15 now) the trouble we had with those horrific hair critters!
thanx for clues - one more request - to 6/30?
oh, i don't know if i'll go to the list - i'm only 33 away now
ra 6/18: rodent + ***oleum (floor covering)
matty we've had problems with them for 2 years now, it's horrific, the school knows they have problems but won't do anything about it
to6/30 playing with (negative connotation)
thank you everyone for all the clues! i've just been scrolling the chat and collecting them like flowers.
many tx inge, what a weird word!
I have the fa7/48 that is kinda the reverse of dieting - any clues for the other?
change the fourth letter
Is that for me, Hurshy?
matty replace a t with another consonant
yup
It was - got it!
Thanks!
ci7 - person who writes out a traffic ticket, eg?
I cannot believe that I couldnt see that word! Thanks to all FIREWORKS
i have almost all the 7's but only 2 8's and not the 9!
Well done, Kazzer!

ro6 - President Reagan and a shortened form of 'over there'
mmm, sounds good to me
Yep - got that 8 (though not the no static
ohhhhhhhhhhh
The two syllables rhyme.

ta8 is an off limits subject and the usual 3 letter ending here
so new rule: plural everything even if it makes no sense but also -ing everything even if it makes no sense
lol, yes
Thanks Feather - that was my last 8!
featherbee, you're missing in8
ok, thanks sugar
the a's are horrid today
Proviso to the new rules, s and ing must feature in the grid.

missing last 7 - si I think
I'm up to 21 Bs so far, they are really hard today
How about -ion and -tion? Not to mention -ed....

Hello Everybodeeeeey!
But the grid doesn't like Broony!

sparkly - butchers
if you have ab6/24, you need to double a cons and stick in another vowel, and make it sound french.
missin the ab6s too - not liking the a words!
hi, jean... ab7: a + baseball club + **be or not ..+ the dreaded **S, income tax people...
i can't find it! i have en6 sign up for army and en6 that sounds like a movie with brendan fraser
i knew i should have paid more attention to brendan fraser
(movie title named for a town in CA)
adj form of en4?
;)
argh. good heavens. thank you.
I'm struggling with what are probably a couple of easy Ss - ST6/18 and the 5/10 immediately following.

smooth! am very annoyed. went into the biggest camera shop nearby adn they had NO 120 film. Couldn't believe it! Apparently I have to buy such things on the internet now *sigh*
wow. How could they not? *googly eyes*
good I think. I'll find out. ;) It's always wierd intervewing with someone you already work for.... and have interviewed with before
Seriously ATL? Is it less common in europe than in the US, I wonder?
A block from my job is a little neighborhood camera shop that has all sortss of it... maybe that's what you need... not a big camera store, but a smaller one that carries better things?
yes, I think so ... but there aren't many of those left *sigh* everything is digital
man, I know that kodak and fuji still make tons of it, If they ever stopped making velvia film..... lol it hink a riot would ensue... a riot of nature photographers. lol
I keep typing "igloo" and it keeps not taking it!!!! *sigh* and still 95 to go...
stid... I'm beating you? lol ;) 89 here
and of course, I've just looked on the camera store's website and they have film available online. But NO Vlevia!

pour quois pas? or "whyever not?"
the only chance i had to buy some, it was a gallon container and my husband convinced me i shouldn't have that much!
i shouldn't have listened to him.
*frowny face* surely they sell nugmeg and the other ingredients in Hawaii! It's not that hard to make, Fran.
i know i can make it myself, but the ready-made fresh stuff is so tasty.
i have made it myself i should say.
169 words, and done! yay
true -- and so much quicker when you're in the mood for it...
YAY bendamalina!

night
goodnight, feather
G'might feather
Got my toast but am somewhat confused by the packaging of the Kerrygold butter I chose to spread on it.
Sealed plastic container, open that and there is a layer of foil with a pull up tab, under that is a plastic layer with a pull up tab. What's that all about, other than making yet more packaging? An EU silly directive again, I guess, against some kind of terrorist contamination? Not a lot of good against a hypodermic needle containing botulism or some such.
can I get a clue for the 2nd en6 please?
jac, that sounds normal for US packaging. I have actually gone to get stitches on my finger after trying to open some things!
I actually bought (you know me, everything homemade) some mince pies just before Xmas to tide the family over whist I was busy baking. They came in a cardboard carton. I opened that and the plastic tray with the pies in was wrapped in plastic. I opened that and the plastic tray that help the foil-encased pies had a harder plastic lid on it!#
en = to join the army
Harp - that's terribel and it should stop right now, world wide!
oh duh ty Lori
I agree, I'm sorry it's hit Europe
I'm with you Jac, unwrap at the checkouts!

Yea! 169 words.
harp - ab5 = a + b4/6 (bonus).

USA must be a different world; in UK women are not so sport orientated on the whole.
ci 7 is like a person who writes a traffic ticket... ends in either/**
no sports from me... i am a sports widow =)
I like some sports, but mostly I like the minor league baseball. It's more "real"
thanks min, stid
my hub is a sports freak. i like baseball but it's not to the point of mental ILLNESS =)
ROFL!!! no, we just babble until our brains liquefy and run out our ears...
bi5?
*wiping some brains off keyboard now*
an7/36 please
Back in the 1970s I had 2 years with a socce mad lad and his family. We had to watch the matches, watch the repeats of the matches and all the replays on TV, and watch them trying to recreate the matches on little fields in the rain, the cold, the wet, the fog, the snow.... ARRRGH! Put me off for life!
"living things" harp -- bi + vowel + brit for "thanks"
Thebi 5/14 word word is bi plus io 4/4 word harpjane
is that where my brains went stid?
he has driven 600 miles roundtrip for every single seahawks home game this year. and most of the time they drive over and back in one day
*an 7/ 36: opposite of a logarithm
oh -- that's truly insane kierlex!
Hi Andree, Glad you got it! I'm still plugging along happy to break the 1000
jacula that sounds just like my hub. games and repeats of repeats and highlights and etc.
an7/36-against using firewood in a fireplace Andree.
thanks minver
My midwife told me my brains went after my first child arrived. Wonder how I brought my 2nd one up then? And how I know deal with a step child?
and then add a 3-pt letter to turn the an 7 into a "study" word
Does anyone have a clue for the at 5/12 word please
my brains went while i was preggo with number 1... never came back (tho i finished my graduate degree while preggo with number 2!)
brains had to leave, or there never would have BEEN a #2!
LOL, stid.
at 5/12: the upper portion of a house under the roof?
at5/12 is the loft room under your roof.
*tiredly* Hello all
LOL Stid, too funny. Actually, my hubby wanted 2. I was content with 1... but now we have a boy and a girl so that is cool
{{{Jill}}} *offers bracing hot toddy*
Thank you for the at word.Out of all the words, here I should have seen that one. I finished at words now.
Virginia Andrews' book, 'Flowers In The At***.'
hello mortsbabe
why tiredly, dear Jill?
Hello jillibus! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
go Min go!
Hi jilli.
Tiredly here, also.
Does anyone have a clue for the ab 7/36 word please
Andree -- who is mortsbabe? did I miss a log entry?
Hi guys - I am not really here, again, just poking my head in the door ;)
ab 7/36: same first four letters as previous 6, double last letter, add "to be" I am, you are, he **
hi relarion, I wasn't here either, but Min is SO close to finishing today!
ab 6/ 24: a barrier made with felled trees (=a+ winged mammal+ present tense of "to be") ab 7/ 36: alternative spelling of ab6/24 (tree barrier) - double a consonant in the middle)
Hello relarion! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Minver - a + night flyer with another same consonant at end + 2 leter word for 'lives'.
Go go go Min!~Hi Stid...
My ISP has been messing up and my response about fatigue got zonked a minute ago too
Hi relarion.
HI Jacula
didn't like this grid anyway *sulk*
well that's no good Jill -- my mother's ISP was down for a bit earlier today also
Never mind, jilli. You've got my Crete travelogue to keep you warm. ROFLOL.
It's not a "kind" grid, is it? I finished, but I am not sure how.
yes I know, stid -- got your emails, and many thanks
Congratulations stidmama on your early finish! YAY!
Jac -- haven't even had time to enjoy it!
Stid, I love the picture of Lucky. He actually does look a little annoyed (in a cute way)
It was mostly dry today at least, hope it was for you up north also...
thanks Relarion. oh he's always annoyed when I make him hold still!!
Does anyone have a clue for the ab 8/50 word please
yes, weather was ok but I don't like the foecasts I've seen
tp sulking, jilli and get on with the grid! Jeeze, woman, what's up with you?
xxxxxxxxxxxx
*ab 8/ 50: slaughter house (= a+ winged mammal+ preposition+2/3 of the USA tax group)
no -- nor do I. There is white stuff on the little hills just south of us from yesterday. And it's not much fun to see frost on the cars in the morning!
I'd love to give clues but only have 44 words myself
stid months ago she emailed me to ask how to play and only comes on chat occasionally, I am not likely to forget anyone who asks me how to play, I am not exacttly an expert, lol
oh! okay Andree, I was afraid I had looked away and missed someone asking for clues. Happens a lot in the evenings when I am tired...
Hello Cmith! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
no she only made one entry a few minutes ago
well Jill, you can give yourself an AT 7/44 for making that much progress! I needed help to get to thirty... went to the list really early for me today
jac -- 125 words to find in 1+ hours? I don't think so!
Cmith, I have the first 6 letters, don't get tax group.
Incidentally, jilli - I guess you want an invitation to my old girls' school 50th birthday (our birthday's, not school's. School is far older!) weekend away in Dublin?
I think this weekend is only going to happen if I organise it.
Jacula -- are you from Dublin?
I have 163 words left :=D
Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
Jac, you joke!
si7/36 please
go relarion go! LOL
Don't mean to be pessimistic, but especially not with this grid! Maybe if it was alot easier!I almost gave up
si 7/36: put the three-letter gerund at the end of the tall storage unit next to a barn...
st6/24 is absolutely NOT a word, I"m sure....
Hahaha Stid
25 girls up for it. 26 with you, jillia, which makes a nice even number. But we do have older and younger sisters interested, so maybe about 30-50 in the end?
*si 7/ 36: storing grain in previous si4/4
how would we use it? I don't like to be around that old penny-pincher -- he's such a st 6/24!
jac -- I went to 2 schools in England, nary a one in Dublin!
stid - No! Not from Dublin. But Dublin is a fun place for gangs of girls to go.
oh -- I see!
Lots of bars...
Is nary an acceptable enable word?
*enjoying the idea of "gangs" of girls...*
I think it is, Jill.
Does anyone have a clue for the an 6/24 word please
an 6/24: fancy soft wool for sweaters
*an 6/ 24: long, silky hair from a goat that is made into fuzzy sweaters
no8?
sorry, min - my only as word is a picnic pest pural *silly giggle*
Natasha, unlike saran wrap, this film is no*cl***
an word, gaa
*no 8/ 55: not adhering
oh, now I have another one :)
stid - 50-yr-old 'girls', LOL. Even 51, nearing 52 in some cases.... you know how wide a school year is.
Hi, all. I've been in and out of this grid most of the afternoon. I'm really tired, but have four words I cannot find. Could I have some help on the ta5/14 before the snappy taste; the ba6/30 after upchuck; and the ra6/18, 7/28 combo after wicker pl.? Thanks.
hello Scarlet! ta 5/14 is a word for drum, ta + "uninteresting" less the final e
nary a slip betwixt lip and cup. LOL Can't remember who said that, but it's Scottish.
jac, you know my age -- I'm far too young for your gang, hehe
duh, finally found it. thanks!
ba 6/30: like the ba 7/44 but no double letter
I'm half-watching star trek and just attempted "clingon" though I knew full well it wouldn't fly.
jili - you'd fit in real well amongst the sisters.. whether younger or older, I'm not saying.x
the RA combo is large rodent word + tall consonant + opposite of out
tried that last night, relarion -- same result
I'll bet you knew you were kidding too Jillibus
oh -- and then plural the Ra 6 for the 7. sorry, fading out a bit.
*ra 6/ 18: a rope on a ship's ladder (alternate spelling)(=rodent+3/4 of queue) *ra 7/ 28: plural of previous ra 6/18
done, hard one this time!
yep, relarion, but hope springs eternal -- sometimes enable doesn't spell too well
woohoo harp
YAY harpjane!!!!
how are you doing, Min?
YAY harpjane!!!
Plus jill there are so many wacky words in the grids...
Thank you stid... you gave me fireworks... at last... LOL and thanks, Cmith for pitching in. Good night!
YAY Scarlet!! sweet dreams...
YAY Sacarlet!!!!
brb
Scarlet too
Hi again - any clues for ab7/36 please
Congratulations scartlet on fireworks! Hooray for U!
Thanks, all. This one was pretty challenging. :-)
Congratulations harpjane on fireworks! Good for you
Hello flosey! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
But we had the older sisters at our last meet up... for a theatre thingey when one of our number who'd always been sporty suddenly turned theatrical and did a one woman show at a city theatre. She was BRILLIANT - well done Biddy Roberts, we al said - our English & Drama teacher. Many of us act or write and are successful in that to different degrees thanks to her, but the realisation that she had actually influenced one of the Tom Boy sporty ones, left us alll gob-smacked. We only hope now that we can find her to tell her so. She's such an old hippy though... dunno if we will find her. I was the last one with any kind of address for her.
hi everyone
WTG harpjane... did you find it tough, too?
Stidmama, I have 163 words so far. I think I need 2.
HI hk!
Hello helenkeller! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
*ab 6/ 24: a barrier made with felled trees (=a+ winged mammal+ present tense of "to be") ab 7/ 36: alternative spelling of ab6/24 (tree barrier) - double a consonant in the middle)
Hi, Hell!
Hi Min, good thanks 24 words to go!
hi helen, hi flosey -- Min, you need 6. do you know which ones?
flosey - Imagen has been acting up -- have you had problems?
yes Jill - I was without internet for 19 hours
Have you given me your snail mail address through BabAnon yet, Hell, so that I can inflict my Crete travelogue upon you by snail mail?
now rushing like crazy to finish the grid
Nope, I was wrong! I need 6 more words. This gird is never ending! I have almost given up so many times!
19 hours? *gasp* how did you survive? (only half joking, you know!)
was a nuisance for sure
you can do it Min, I will stay until you are done.
just got it back after 5 tonight
I'm not even trying, flosey but I do have 2 ab7s
I just can't seem to get that one
stid - still laughing over the 19 hour thing myself, then thinking about an unfinished Babble grid. LOL.
Does anybody have a clue for the li 5/14 word please
I have only 19 words flosey, but am cheering for you and Min to finish.
have doubled the cons. and it doesn't seem to work
oh thanks relarion, you're sweet
li 5/14: a sort of slang, spoken by people in a group, rhymes with bi*** game where you get dots in row
one ab7 is "lessening" -- the other is a military term unknown to most of us - trying to think of a clue for the silly thing...
ok, will come back to that later, how about bo7/40 please
Min, means language like a Hep Cat would say it
Thank you for the li 5/14 clue stidmama! I just got it!
flosey - double the consonant in the 6/24 before the one you tried
ab 7/36: first five letters same as the ab 8 + "to be" word
flosey, I only have 47 words
go Min go! you're within spitting range of the finish line!
*bo 7/ 40: pertaining to the science of plants
bo 7/40 - bo******cal gardens in the Bronx flosey.
gogogogo min!!!!
ro6/24 please
bo 7/40: a garden, the Huntington BO***** garden near Los Angeles is world famous.
jac - i will try to tackle that babanon thing again when i'm done with this grid - the cookies thingy is giving me trouble - 27 to go
ro 6/24
Does anyone have a clue for the ra 6/24 word please
ro 6/24 is the same as the previous, but spell with a Y
ra 6/24 (there are two) ra + flying mammal + vowel; then same but + plural letter
ro 6/24 is ro* Reagan plus yo4/6 minus the last vowel
Hell - I would love to give you my address on here, but \I won't. There is a temporary e-mail address thingey I may try in a day or 2.
min!!! I do!!!! Ro* Reagan + hither and ***
thx stid, i kept trying to end with the y
ok jac - sounds good
thx min
Jacula -- I can send helen your email? if you want me to...
good evening babblers!
hello o2!
I was reading back on the chat a little... go min go!
hi o2
Hi o2!
Hello o2baflyndog! How are you? Welcome to the grid
every time you show up, I remember to breathe... LOL
Sorry jillibus, but what goes with hither?I'm braindead
LOL... that's not what it stands for, but funny nonetheless
ta8?
Min -- I think you have the ro 6/24? that is what Jill clued.
ta 8: placing a ta 5/14 (prohibition) on something
ta8/60 word is gerund form of ta 5/14 word Natasha
internet here still not behaving well
oh jill, how annoying - I was getting so frustrated
No -- and I *just* figured out how to say your name... I can be a bit dense sometimes! "Oh! To be a flying dog!"
My screen froze for several minutes, Jillibus, most vexing
had just started last night - about 6 words, when it went out
Min -- what next?
No,I need the second ra6/24 word if you have please
thanks, I hand't found that 5 yet, but found it easily when I looked
same here, flosey -- and their office is closed for the weekend, bah
the second ra 6/24 take the last letter off the first and replace with the letter to make it a plural
yes jill I left a message and they called from Vancouver
this grid like the last one seems to be full of rubbish words
LOL... that's it! we did a frisbee dog show at a college basketball game today... no time to babble until now
humbug! the nerve of people, wanting a day off! hmph!
the young man was very patient and tried to help
I left a message too and never heard anything
what fun! I know the pup in the pic is retired now -- who competed?
Oh damn! Yet another hot flush occurring here. We even switched the radiator off in the bedroom a couple of nights ago to try to counteract this hormonal hiccup. Didn't work! Even if I lay naked on the table in the middle of the lawn in this winter weather, I'd still have hot flushes (flashes). GRRRR!
Does anyone have a clue for the ab 8/50 word please
it was just a show, so Rider and I did this one... I haven't trained a new pup yet... sometimes borrown my husband's but he was playing today too
need the en words, any clues please
again Jacula? you poor dear. I suppose wearing an ice cube garland is impractical?
flosey -- what was their excuse?
jillibus i just came on you managed the snow/winds ok?
the snow in Vancouver
en 6/18 a person en****s in the military
Jac: my sister says she's still a hot mamma, only it comes from the inside out now! LOL
I didn't understand Cmith's clue b-4.I'm so braindead!
Black kohosh, red clover, nothing seems to work! I can't have HIV, btw, before anyone suggests it.
the en 6/21 is a common babblet: en + ****ma (theater)
diem -- we didn't get snow here this time!
Hello diem! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
min -- you are such a dear!
the en 4/4 ends like alcohol, the last en 6/21 is the adverb form
Imagen is owned by Lions Gate Internet and thus our problem!
Oh i thought the salt got it thursday bad
thanks stid
was it a lot of snow diem? (I don't like snow much)
I know, flosey, but what was the problem for that 19 hours?
stid - a cool flannel, kept by the bed and applied to the forehead can be helpful, as can the clip-onto-she;f fan my Beloved proved (even though it wakes him up).
Room temperature seems to make no difference though.
lordy if you don't like snow stay out of colorado this year!
The ab8/50-so far I have ab plus winged mammal plus either/**. What do I need next? This is my last word!
ta6/18 please
when they fixed the prob. over there, I had difficulty getting back up
ab 8: a place where they kill a lot of animals (a nasty place), a + flying mammal (doulbe the lastletter) + round vowel + eye + RRRRRRRR
I was so lucky -- barely noticed menopause (I didn't have to go bare or anything to cool off, I mean)
...except that I can't slep when I hav cold feet.
ta6/18 is ta+single hump letter + to be + cross letter
in8/45 please?
flosey, sounds like what stidmama's mama went through today too!
jilli - you were lucky! These hot sweats are driving me barmy and mucking my sleep up.
My Tom likes to sleep in a cold room anyway. I am constantly asking for more blankets and then tossing them onto his side of the bed! and then stealing them back...
stid - that sound much like a night in our room!
*in 8/ 45: something that arouses an action (like a riot) (=in+3/4 "to quote"+ small insect)
thx min
I am finished! Thank you all for your wonderful clues!
in 8: a person who riles people up? in***e + picnic pest
