Unfortunately, I don't know the Japanese immigrant word.
neither do i!
or8

just google japanese immigrants definition
me neither, merk -- I think foreign words should be banned from the list
neither did i...just monkey the letters beginning with is and ending by the letter to plural
aw come on, nan, what's foreign?
japanese words?
then there is the latin, german, french, spanish
Is the en 10 built off of the en 7? ... I hope.

good evening everyone!
I agree wilson
that's why i love the clues...sometimes it makes sense to others!
np nan - and i do agree on banning the foreign words, anything non english should be out, i can handle the diff spelling between real english and american, but beyond that is beyond me :P

hi kier, bye une
so there's nonenglish words in the grid tnite or?
You giving free classes Dr.God ? :))
is 5 & 6 are japanese kier
I thought most of the big words would end with ness and only one of the 8s does
there are non words in the grid tonight.

just type in anything that is not an English word kier

I also need clues for the final two ro 6, 18 words.
Diem sorry, just seen your question....no am about 90 miles south ofWishaw......10 miles ABOVE the English border....lol
Hi - I'm back - didn't have to water the garden as it's raining! first time this year!
Hi Merk, Rolin, Hodag
oooh congrats lynxxxx...must be lovely to see after all this time
merk, i still need a bunch of R words, my last ro6/18 is plural of where the chickens go
and Hi Flask!
that's good lynxxx!
the second to last i have is like a male chicken minus the T
Hi Lynxxx.....are you well?
oh I wish I could water the garden but I would end up with an ice-rink. Hiya lyn
fran you can pl that one too
I am TY Flask
yes, i did that rolin, thanks!
oh..ok..second to last..right..duh...
speaking of chickens (Fred) my rooster sure is making a lot of noise this morning!!!
hodag said a wooord (as part of another word)
where does fred go when it's cold?
I had a feeling you would catch that...lol
Fred is looking for a fluffy hen to play with....lol
tkshodag
Oh Freddie goes in the coop with his chicks and the pheasants. We keep a light on in there to put off a little heat for them.
that sounds nice and co***
Your right Flask, when they all come I say here comes Fred and his chicks.
nice and what?...Fran....lolol
Good morning all. You know you've been babbling too long when the first word you see is sr4/4.
sr???..omg..
Someone asked me what kind of rooster he was and I said.......horney!!!
hi haz! i never miss that one anymore either!
and youre right...*sigh*
haz, but did you see the ts6?
hi Haz
I've literally just started!
Hi Haz - yep, one of the first ones I got too - I even found ro6.21 & 7.32 as well
thanks lynxxx!
Flask, how is that good looking son of yours doing?
Still gorgeous Hodag......however, am still seeking a wife for him....lolol
a clue please for SO9?
flask i have a beautiful daughter...how old is your son??
He's 28 Rolin.....29 next month
I sure wish I had a single daughter,I bet he is as sweet as he is cute!...lol
flask, don't have it yet, how many points is it?
54 Fran
so7.28 & 9.54 look like a disease - I think there is a c***** of the liver - sounds like that
Yes Hodag, he is...when he's asleep!!!...lolol
Flask when is his birthday my youngest daughter will be 30 on Feb.17th.
perfect!!...my daughter is 27...
so9 - to do with sisterhood?
Wonderful Rolin....!!
is he in scotland too?
got them, thanks lynxxx and haz!
Feb 20th Hodag!
yes....just 10 miles north of the broder
so9 - first four letters to do with sisters, (opposite of fraternity) then the remaining letters look like plural female siblings, but shortened.
hmm...could make commuting from london a tad difficult..lol
my youngest grandaughter will be two on the 21st.....
so7/28 is the singular
don't understand the sisters part Haz!
Oh Rolin......true love knows no bounds....lolol
its true... i managed to cross 17K km for it..
I wish we could have one BIG party!!!!lol
would be great Hodag!
Flask - it's based on the latin for sister. Have you heard of fraternity houses in the States, the opposite is what you're looking for. It sounds like a word for sadness.
flask, lynxxx' clued helped me too, sounds like disease of the liver although the spelling is different
so7/28 - Rearrange the letters of the australian jumpers, (minus kanga) then add a shortened female sibling. The so9 is the plural.
i have ar8, does anyone know what the other 8s start with?
Mornin' Fran, Miss Haz, Flask, hodag, rolin, lynxxx and everyone lurking behind the scenes.
morning odan
Hi Odin
Good morning Odin - nice to see you!
Hi Odin!

Hello BabbleR !
hi babrab!
Hello
Quietly working here and found that en8 - thnx for the two letters flask
yo Bab-Rab
Thanks FranMag - can't help thinking that the Loch Monster shows her ar8/50 by being so elusive....
Mornin' babrab
hi angb!
Hi AngB
Mornin' Angb

Good evening Andree.
Mornin' Andree

HI Andree
Hi Andree

bye Hodag!
bye Hodag
really, it starts with en
thanks babrab
lol angb
thx ang
Thanks for the or8
I am being so brain dead here. Is there a clue for the final se 4,4 please?
yw andree
a clue please for or8?
somebody sing a song - quick - I have orinoco flow on the brain looking for this or
The last one I have (se4/4) rearranges the letters of the observed se4/4
or8 begins with the letters of where fruit is grown
And ends with the last four letters of the so9/54 word
thanks haz!
And I have one of those in the garden - thnx Haz
You're welcome, Fran.
thanks angb, now i do too!
Unplural it too fran
thanks i did that, i meant i have orinoco flow in my head!
What shall we sing instead? But it sort of goes with today's theme
Or - What shall we do with the drunken sailor? There's an apt song
oh there, that's better
Quite an assembly of words I will never use, lest to confuse
Or, in view of Hodag's daughter and Flask's son 'My bonny lies over the ocean'
I quite agree babble.
whos drunk?
that's a good one too haz! lol
Haven't heard that song for ages Haz.
Nice one Haz....lolol
Are we all singing along and swaying?
Nobody sings those songs anymore. Shenandoah was another favourite when I was young.
can I have a clue for the AR8 please?
ar8/50 - combine an architectural feature with the monster of the Loch
oh susanah; clementine
Yes, yes babble.
Ang - there's yet another government initiative here to get children singing again. A new song book has been issued with 30 songs, but don't know what they are.
thanks Haz....that was easy....lol
tennessee waltz
'Things can only get better' might feature....
i can see the "little rascals" kid singing oh susanah
Our kids sing - but like it's Abba and stuff LOL
way down yonder in the papaw patch
Or - those funny dressed up men - YMCA - these are songs in school!!!!
i love the tennessee waltz! my mom had all kinds of old country songs on vinyl
I looove Tennessee Waltz! I used to sing it to my daughter when she was being fractious as a baby...its just beautiful
Nice rendition to Tennesse Waltz - Tom Jones and the Chieftains
jinx lynxxx!
ta AGAIN HAZ
"i was dancing with my darling to the tennessee waltz, when an old friend i happened to see."
You're welcome, diem.
"i introduced her to my loved one and while they were dancing, my friend stole my sweetheart from me"
The Chieftains can give Tom Jones a run for his money with their looks.
They are brilliant musicians, but can you see the looks on the faces of the judges if they turned up for any of these 'reality' talent shows?
Haha Haz.
sad isn't it haz?
Has anyone got the CD of Long Black Veil by Chieftains - great stuff
I was also fascinated by a recent Paul Simon concert. The musicians were brilliant but they would all have been deemed 'not televisual'.
I was also fascinated by a recent Paul Simon concert. The musicians were brilliant but they would all have been deemed 'not televisual'.
i love talking about music, but it's getting late! my last 27 will have to wait until tomorrow. night folks!
Later Fran
Nite fran. Tis late I'll have to go too. Nite all
bye Fran
and AngB - nite!
Night fran
Night angb
Bye Fran!
And sleep well, Angb.
Nite to you both!
bye fran and angb
clue for en10 please
en10 - looks like a call for the cessation of the use of diminution of Archibald.
en 7/40 --- not the beginning: en*; and the third month, abbr.. the doe a three letter plural
It is 2.30am here time for bed night all
bye diem
the month without the first letter, abbr, then the plural
Morning all. Brilliant clue for en10, Haz.:))
Good morning Jacula - glad you liked it!
Worked for me, Haz!
TY both BabbleR & Haz!
thx babble and haz
You're welcome, lynxxx.
Hello All - how it going today
hi kaz
Oh dear! If you're Ir**h you can't come into the parlour on Babble. Poor Haz! LOL.
Feeling utterly rejected....
Mornin' Kazzer
I should complain if I were you, Haz!;)
Good morning Kazzer.
Hi Kaz.
But then, I'm not properly Ir**h either so I'll not be too offended.
But the god of love is there. I wonder if FMitch will keep him to herself again?
I bet she will!
gfood morning everybody
Hi Button
Hello Buttonman.
Mornin' Buttonman
hi Jacula
hi button
hi lynxxx
hi Andree
Hi odin
How is the grid today?
Nice one
It is f word free. Fabulous!
Okay so far, Button. (Speaking for myself.)
Morning all Looks like I turned up just in the nick of time. Haz can you look after e4 for a while?
Mornin' FMitch
Hello FM !!
I think he'd find it kind of cold here - it's starting to snow.
morning MItch
can someone clue the ar 8 please
And good morning, FMitch, by the way!
ar8 - combine an architectural feature with the Loch monster
Is is, Haz? Oh heck! The forecast was right then. Raining here, but the 80mph winds have yet to start.:(
Hi Odin, Button, lynxxx, Jacs, Haz and anyone I missed.
Morning, FMitch.
It won't lie, or anything, but it is COLD.
nite all, happy babbling
got HAZ, thanks
Good night Andree - sleep well.
You're welcome, Button.
'Night Andree. Sweet dreams.
JAcs we have the storms/gales tomorrow :(
FMitch - supposed to be starting tonight.:(
Sun's come out here now.
we have very bad weather here in sussex
Mr. Vader won't be happy - 'Da**h isn't allowed in the grid.:)
They don't have very skilled no7/28 in Iraq.
v. timely comment Haz!
LOL Haz!
lol..haz
At least we've been spared film of the event.
itll come..
Indeed, Haz! I wonder if it was unskilled no7/28 or if he had an injury or bone condition?
I would blame the no7/28 - Albert Pierpoint would have been horrified.
ty all for good clue got me three words
It seems a head is 'conscious' for a while after being removed. For more info, go to:http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=4 95
oooh im plagued by the phantom 'orchids'..pretty but tnot there
oh no jac...yuk
rolin - the flowers are there. Try a different ending.
oooh thc jac
thx
y/w, rolin.
Time for a little work. Happy Babbling.
bye FM
Bye FMitch - don't work too hard, and go easy on your visitor.
LOL Haz
'Bye FMitch. See you soon. Don't wear that God out!
bye mitch
hi again!
im missing an a...i have ar4/6, 8/58, 4/5 x2
Hi Fran.
wb fran
i was on my way to sudoku and saw that jac is on.
Hello Fran.
hi jac! hi rolin!
hi again haz!
jac, i just received the crete travelogue today, fun reading!
rolin - think of firesetter (ar5/10)
tch..thx haz
i'll send you an email later, but just wanted you to know i got it.
Fran - thanks for letting me know. I'll look forward to hearing from you.:)
Haz - Thanks. I didn't have 'The Prodigy' either.:)
okay, going to sudoku so i can get to sleep already. good night again!
It was fun, wasn't it Fran? Jacula obviously doesn't lie comatose on the beach for two weeks. Well, maybe not the whole time....
'Night, Fran. Happy Sudokuing. (Is that a word??)
Haz - Not any of the time. I'm not really one for sun-bathing. I prefer to sit under a beach umbrella and read a good book.
jac...youre on bable...and wondering if a word is a real word???...lol
rolin - hmmm, yes.... you're right.
We once had the privilege of viewing our neighbours holiday video. 'Here we are on the beach. Here is the waiter coming to take our order. Here we are going in for a bathe.'
oooohh fun times haz..remember the slide show nights??..now its powerpoints
Haz - Oh no! That's worse than 'come and be bored by our 9,000 photos of us in various poses on the beach'. LOL.
It was awful! There should be a law passed that you only show holiday photographs when written permission has been obtained.
I'm sure my Crete thing could have been a lot tighter and would have been if I'd stopped to edit and re-edit. However, I'm a terror for doing that and no one would have got anything if I had done. I'd still be pruning it down!
No, it was fun and educational - you got in local customs, history and the flavour of the place.
Thank you, Haz. That's very nice of you to say so.
I've just discovered native(s) of Napoleon's birthplace (co5/12 and co6/21)
Don't think I'll have time in 3-4 days to do the same for Amsterdam, but I'll try! At the very least, I want to see the bulb fields, Anne Frank's house, the Van Gogh museum, the 'special' cafes.
When is it you go? And are you flying?
jac all those are fantastic...esp the frank museum...very very emotive
Had the 5, Haz, but not the 6. Thanks.
20th April, Haz., until 23rd. Yes, flying with bmi baby (so hope BA strikes don't affect us).
rolin - Any tips on good places to go would be welcome.
That's good - looks like British Airways are going to get a name for being the worst airline at the minute. They haven't covered themselves in glory recently.
The travel agent said she is going to tell the hotel that 22nd is my 50th birthday. Gawd knows what embarrassing things that will cause!
Zimmer frames, incontinence pads.....
:((
Who knows, maybe FMitch will let the god of love free for the day.
50 words left to find. Time I fed the cats and then did some baking. Christmas cake is finished and the family keep looking hopefully into empty cake tins.
Haz - LOL. P has a tee-shirt I bought him with 'The Love God' printed on it.:))
BBL. Happy Babbling!
Do they do a liitle sniff to remember the good days when there was cake? Have a good day, Jacula, and glad that Paul can stand in for er4/4!
They do, Haz! LOL. See you later.
Bye, Jacula!
how do i get the my word list as a separate dispaly. i am sure i used to be able to
Do you mean Lickety's? I usually open another window, reduce it in size and then bring it up when necessary.
no. imeant the My Word List, to save scrolling down all the time
You've got me there. Maybe some of the more computer savvy folk can help?
en 6 and 8 please
en6 - a political movement calling for the union of Cyprus and Greece. en, a vowel then shortened female sibling
The en8 is the plural.
ty haz
You're welcome, Wolvie - and good morning!
thanks haz. hello babblers
good morning to you as well :-)
hi blood
thanks HAZ, got both
Good morning, Bloodaxe, nice to see you again.
likewise haz.
Are you well settled back into studying?
not yet. i'm working on getting over a bug at the moment and just relaxing. classes start next week...tuesday i think.
hope you feel better soon blood. :-)
I hope you feel better - it's not nice not feeling well away from home.
thanks wolvie. it's been a rough week, but i'm recovering.
it's especially rough because i'm really the only one on campus, besides some random staff and cleaning crew.
wow - lonely time to not feel well. that's a bummer.
Oh dear! You'll really appreciate your fellow-students arriving back.
hopefully some other folks will come back early
yea..but luckily i've got playbabble to keep me company!
true true - babblers are always around for each other. :-)
You'll get sympathy from us, but no warm blankets or soothing drinks.....
virtual haz, virtual warm stuff - best we can do. :-)
haha...well i can't ask for anything more than some good company.
going to get a java refill, brb
well i think it's time i get out of bed and get some lunch. bye for now!
Bye Bloodaxe.
bye blood
Good Morning, I have the en8 thanks to clues, any clues around for the other long words
ar8/50 - the characteristic of being ar4/6 - combine the architectural feature with the loch monster.
G'd Morning Babblers!
or 6/24 please
I have 8 words, so I'm hoping the word total is something in the order of 15.... :)
morning LORIP
hi lori, hi button
hi WOLVIE
word total is 157
thanks Haz
Good morning folks.
arch
en10/91 - plural of en7/40. The last part, then the architectural feature. The en10 looks like someone doesn't want Archibald to be made shorter.
hi scrabbler
morning SCRABBLER
yes and build on that
Oh dear, as you see, I found the ar4,6
LOL, Lori, yes, you have just 7 more words to find.
i am down to the o's Scabbler, if you are going to help us give a word past there
or 6/24 PLEASE
or8/50 - four letters of the fruit growing area, then same ending as the en8
Sorry, I have only or4,4--the obvious one.
or6/24 - four letters of the fruit growing section, verb form of 'to be'
Hi all again - I am stuck on ros ro 6.18 after flower and ro 6/21 and 7/32 before flower
thanks Haz
ro6/21 - first name of fast tennis server Mr Tanner, or name of Friends character, minus a letter, plus Sir Sebastian, the runner.
ro6/18 - latin plural for small platform
I dont have the en7 to make that 10
(Just realising it's Lord Sebastian. sorry....)
thanks Haz
HAZ, i am slow but i don't get the or 6/24 clue..make it simple for the simple minded
Hey, wurdy, I saw an Il Divo CD in the store Sunday and thought of you.
Have al the 8's thanks Haz
en7 - three letters to finish (said at the completion of a story)then the architectural feature. Make it an adjectival plural for the en10
ty vm Hazel - I am now onto the C - I thought I'd leave then till the end
last plus curved opening wurdy
and the 1o too :), any clue for the 9 yet
So, the word total is 157? Slightly off from my hopes of 15. :)
scrabbler did you give it a listen
or6/24 - think of tropical flowers, sometimes grown in pots, long-lasting flowers. Take a d from it and you have or6
just a bit Lori - 157 is correct. :-)
Lori, you can stop at 15 and we can give you fireworks, it will be easier that way.
so9 is the plural of so7/28 - a club or meeting place for ladies.
good idea scrabbler! that way I have them too.
No, wurdy--just looked it over.
Do we have a concensus then? 15 it is. :)
ahhh you missed out
so7/28 - beginning of latin for sister, last three letters, shortened female sibling
Yes, we should pick our own word total and then celebrate when we achieve that.
Wurdy--it wasn't a store where we could listen, but I will try in another store somewhere
I found yesterdays' grid tough, and I suspect I will feel the same about todays.
We have another bonus storm day here, so the kids are happy, and I'm happy because I get to stay home and Babble.
got the or HAZ, thanks
The boss is excellent about taking time to stay with sick kids, storm days etc.
glad you like the storms - we have none here - but I babble anyway. :-)
Lori - I don't think it's as difficult as yesterday's was. This time we have multiple s instead of f.
that is good news lori. Nice boss
we ahev snow too, and temps in the teens, but no snow day today. Last Tues was a snow day.
Buttonman, don't forget to plural it (or6 becomes or8)
thanks Haz, got the 9 sound like a skin disease
having trouble with the last three letters part of your clue haz
OK, time to get ready for work. 45 done.
Well Haz, I wouldn't get to Babble until this eve, if it weren't for the storm, and I suspect I'll need all day for this grid. ;(
wurdy - last three letters of the so7? Female sibling is the opposite of your brother, just shorten it.
good job scrabbler!
Off to work Scrabbler? :( See ya' later on.
ok then I am having trouble with the entire word lol
Bye Scrabbler.
bye scrabbler
bye SCRABBLER
or 6/18 please
so7 - rearrange the letters of the Australian jumper, minus kanga, then add the shortened female sibling. The bit at the front sounds like a word for sadness
buttonman - your name made my children burst into song
or6/18 - or, a vowel, then your male child
got it feeling dense but got it
It means a prayer (or6/18) and mirrors the structure of a place of confinement for criminals.
must do bus duty bbl
That's good, wurdygirl.
Later wurdy
by wurdy
thanks HAZ,
bye
And I should do dog walking duty. Glad you got the or6, Buttonman.

I am totally stuck. I have tried and tried for the en 10 and can not muddle my way through it. I was told it starts like the en 7, but I cannot find the last three letters. Any clue?
incisive
Merk - try this clue Haz gave earlier - sounds like a call to end shortening of 'Archibalds'.
Or words to that effect.
I'm not getting it.
I am in China. A tech support is trying to fix my internet connection. He turned off my computer and I had my word list copied from Brandy Jack and he deleted it unsaved. I had five words left and had to start it all over. It is way past my bedtime, I have a full morning. I am dying for one crummy word. Do I sound grumpy?
en* (finish) + *** (what metal does in a microwave) + h*** (greets).
A bit, Merk, but it's understandable!
The first 7 letters are like en 7 right? Nothing of that is changed? Why can't I find 3 simple letters?
I Even Sympathise, Merk.;)
jacula -- i *SO* wish i had that button on my keyboard!
merk, those 3 are the plural of the sometimes vowel
merk, the middle part of that word is a geometric form
Hi evan. It enables you to type like a pirate. LOL
merk: the finish of something is the ***, then the dude with the jalopy who's friends with betty and veronica
aye matey. ;)
hey, raelite

now i am in the spirit of the day...
hello, babblers... and congrats to Karys!!!
ro6/21....starts with the flower...drop the last vowel add the start of a lot of the c words and add 2nd vowel

lizmac -- RO + your SC!
just remove the "N" from the SC
This is hard work lol

bb soon... coffee calling me
movieman, are they your first words? most of them build from smaller ones.
then 10 is en 10.91
temple, yes they are my first words, i always like to get the biggies out of the way first.....
duty calls - later!
see ya later
bye TO
is anyone gonna help me with the 7s, 8s, the 9 and the 10?
*lurks for the clues to the biggies*
en 10 sounds like it would be the demise or the comic strip featuring jughead, veronica and ar**** ( i am afraid that is a very american clue though)
I'm lurking behing you, Babbler
en 7 is the same word without the ies ending
ar 8 is the curve doorway + the scottish lake monster
se 7 is the plural of se 6; sounds like your long front teeth without the in sart to the word
that is all i have so far sorry
ty aknitter, at least someone replied to my request
afternoon babblers. how is everyone today?
how about the ro 7/32 please?
can you get any of them with those clues?
yes aknit, thank you VERY much :)
yw
pide, ro7 is plural of ro 6/21, but that won't help if you don't have ro6.
ros***s tannertennis player
ro7/32- plural of ro6/21, the police officer on Dukes of Hazzard Mr. Coltrane
now I have seen the fireworks I can do some housework
For the oldies in the crowd.. ro6/21 was also Jack Benny's butler's name
annie can you clue the so9?
who you calling an oldie???????
I'm an oldie and I thought is was "Rochester"
of the liver plus es
ty
another annie here, so + flower without the last vowel + to be + 2 letter plural ending, hard to clue, hope this helps
rochester - that's where i live
OMG you're right Scarlet.. my bad! :o(
Oh, boy, beth, your weather is stinko! Not your bad, Huga, maybe I'm REALLY an oldie! :-)
good morning knitter - always nice to see a fellow knitting fanatic
actually hasn't been too bad this year - although last fews days have been yucky
morning beth ... are you working on anything fun?
winter wear perhaps??
Is the j used at all in any word?
my mother gave me cherry tree hill sock yarn for christmas, so i am using that. Also am doing a candlewick lace shawl, among many other projects
I guess I was thinking of Mr. R. Lee Brown... he was on Soap
how about you
The so/9 is the plural of an interesting word--it means a fruit that is composed of multiple flower and fruiting parts--like pineapples and mulberries. Who says this game isn't educational??
sounds like fun, love that cherry tree yarn
i am really loving it - but probably wouldn't buy it myself - very expensive pair of socks. She actually got me two skeins!!
you learn something new every day
i am making a lace shawl by jane sowerby (should have my head examined)
is it from the new book?
urf.
bye for now
yup pg 54
which one is it? I love that book but haven't been brave enough to start anything yet. I did get a lot of lace yarn for christmas, so I am ready - just haven't worked up the courage yet
Morning, urfshy ..
Hiya Tor
it is an orange color with an oak leaf looking motif. have the center panel done and am now picking up the border. if i drop one more dtitch i will surely slit my wrist LOL
40 c words?!?!?!
i have 37 of 'em
Hugabugs! Long time . .
Yes it has been
All of the biggies today are unusual words--the en/8 is particularly odd. Its the plural of the en/6 which is the Greek word for joining--it's used to refer to the idea that Cyprus should be united with Greece into one country.
i feel your pain. I was making a opera shawl with this beautiful tencel yarn, dropped several stitches and had to rip the whole thing out!!!!!
gets out greek dictionary
i dislike ripping out. LOL i must go and change laundry loads. knit on bethany!!
Torgone, I have to say that c words are my own personal challenge. I think c's have the highest percentage of words that i would or could never use in real life.
you too!
thnx, Annie, Huga, and Bugsy, I stepped out for a minute, and then scrolled down to your clues. tyvm
thanks for the great clues. managed to get four of the biggies. pls could someone help me with the 10 again? taa
babbler, think of your decorative royalty, and replace "mon" with cease
Fireworks!!
jeepers, weird words. anyone have the third 8? ar, en...?
The en/10 plays off the en/7--which is a botanical word referring to things like roots that have their oldest cells at the core. See what I mean about weird words??
wahoo, my last three were ALL "ts" words.. fireworks despite the weirdo words!
congrats, anike...
3??? dang, i just have one
Hurshy, the last one is an or/8. plural of a term referring to the kind of tropical flowers related to the vanilla plant
ok 2
hurshy, I recognized that one, but not the other two
thanks jan
wait, maybe i don't have the one you thought i had, alo
the one I had reminds me of ouches
WTG Aloy
oh, yeah, i have that. it's the pl of one of the others.
t+ wounds
oh, it must be the pl of the ts7.28
I think all three of the ts's are alternate spellings of a Yiddish word. Transliterations are a fertile source of spellig possibilities.
ty, pida1
i need the 7
ah, that makes sense, jan
OK time to crack the teriible c's--I only have 23 left and 14 of them are c's!!!
double vowel after the ts, hurshy
thanks hursh
there we go.
hot dog... anyone need a clue or two before I get on with real life today?
the en 8 pls
Aloyisius - what about the s in the right column?
the left i's
en8 is pl of the en6... do you have that?
no, I don't
start with a flower and its pl, hurshy
those are the upper i's... or do you mean they're similar
then you have japanese immigrants for the weirdo is combo
si 6/18 pls?
en6: en + osm*** is the movement of water down its concentration gradient
ah, thanks
heaven have mercy, I was searching the wrong e
si + ****divarius violin
thanks, aloy
ty Al
glad you got em, raelite...lol, helps to have the right starting letter!
what about that right S that strider asked about?
huh? what about it??
can we have a clue
Can you clue the s in the right column?
oh.. lemme look
Don't have that right hand s, either. I was so sure it had to start sos, but nope...
I think you need an sc from there?
probably, it would have to wrap around and be a pl with the middle s
It's a mineral ..
sc6.24?
geology term, not igneous, but ...
sounds a bit like a cuss word
sedimentary...
um... think think
got it!
Metamorphic isn't there either...
strider... howya doing with that word?
not gneiss either
Isn't the opposite of igneous, aqueous? Still working on it.
lol, that is a pun.... not gneiss
sc + not hers and a consonant
i am so annoyed about so many things today
got it. thks.
not babble things, other things
Finally got it...thanks for the clues!
some days life sucks, hurshy... what's tops on your list?
the weather?
no, not the weather
i have some lovely tutoring going that i do mostly in the evenings, but i want more to do during the day
i live kind of in the sticks so it's hard to find a part time job that isn't very far away
but i've been kind of scouting around, seeing what there might be, esp seeing if i could find at home stuff
and i read this article on MSN about at home jobs, and i followed this link to craigslist
do you get bored?
and there was this ad for an at home typist, so i was like, that would be good (yeah, i get bored)
so i bought the "training materials" and it turns out that what you do is put up ads for at home typists and get other people to email you and you sent them the same training materials...
I dig in the dirt (sand) a lot, weeding and planting.. in fact I'm going to plant the Christmas pointsettias today.. do you enjoy typing?
fireworks!
typing's alright - and it's something i can do. but i was hoping to do something productive and i was so ticked that this was so STUPID.
Work at homes are REALLY hard to find, I got my fair share of scams when I was pregnant with the twins and trying to pull in some income.
Congrats Pappa
the guy refunded my twelve bucks, which i didn't even really care, but it lowers my opinion of the world to know that people are wasting their time filling the world with crap like that.
bravo, smooth_pappa!!!
I would be so ticked too
I've seen commercials for typing up doctors transcripts, never tried it though.
i don't know why it should be hard to find things you can do at home, i'm good with excel and it would work just as well to do things at home and email them in...
but the whole issue is also complicated by some other personal things i have going on. anyway.
well, I have satisfied my babble pallet today, and the clock on the wall says I must scoot.. hurshy, with your talents, i bet you will find something meaningful to work on.. see you tomorrow, babblers!
bye alo
(palate).. heehee
Have you tried maybe sitting a kiddo or two during the day. Some people pay pretty good for that.
urf, i don't like kids. that's why i don't have any.
it's not really about the money, it's more about doing something that doesn't bore me.
morning all, any clues for co5/12 please
Hmmm, I'm stumped then. Unless you want a kitty kenel.
flosey - a dove?
dangit! I should have showered earlier... now my hair's gonna freeze. lol oh well... I've gotta run... see you all later
flosey, which one?
Bye Pappa
i'm ALSO annoyed with a student who has spent several aggravating hours talking with me about whether he should or should not ask this girl to the prom.
sorry, it's the third one
Why?
flosey - as hurshy says, think doves and noise
because he's just going over the same ground over and over and over, and now he's like probably not going to ask her, and i'm like, i was trying to be encouraging, and why did i waste my time
plus he semi-insulted me
I didn't realize you taught high schollers. You're a stronger woman than I am, I could never deal with all those hormones. What's he say?
thanks Minty and hurshy, got it
he said i don't have a sense of normal social boundaries. which is probably true but on top of everything else...
Then why did he even ask you in the first place?
good question!!
Tell him to grow a pair and ask her ..
I ask my Dad for advice all the time, but I don't ever take it... He was just wanting you to tell him what he wanted to hear, you probably didn't!
Then tell him to quit wasting your time ..
i did tor, about a hundred times (though not in those exact words)
afternoon babblers!
hey evanadine
Hi Eva
guess what everyone! these hips don't lie!!!
hah bunny! loving your icon!

Is it pirate theme day?
any clues for the second sh5/12 please
i dunno mag... i will keep looking though. just not today, i'm too annoyed.
hurshy, tutoring should bring in good $ epsecially if you can do it for university athletes - i used to
yeah, i'm not really close enough to a college for that... kind of in the middle of nowhere.
Flosey, it's a homophone for the sc/6 clued a little while ago (the geology clues)
ooh, thanks jan
sh 5/12 -- add one who has an ism; and plural it

looks like we're finally getting some wintry weather, stid. :s
well, she was an Ozarker
I'm watching the news. I just can't believe how the Big Brother row has escalated.
still, I never thought that would be the way to spell it
rightly so, I think
don't watch it myself - can't stand reality shows, they make me cringe.
I have got the news on as well Babbler I think they should cancel the show
babbler, is that the show Germaine Greer was on?
Channel 4 just issued a statement, which is half-baked, in denial and just pathetic. They ought to step in and intervene. It's their lack of intervention that's escalating the row.
yes, K.Elisabet
what are they doing? your link doesn't work and i find nothign more than "bullying"
by Channel 4 refusing to intervene, they're condoning what's going on on the show, which is deeply embarrassing for Britain. It's reflecting badly on us.
What is happening on that show? I see it mentioned on the BBC website quite a lot but don't know what's up.
sorry, TO, let me see if I can find a better link for you
i have to say i'm quite surprised that channel 4 would show those bits. i thought it was edited before showing it. even the 'live' thread on e4 always seemed to have silent bits (when I've been channel surfing in the past)
s'ok - lunch os over -have to go. btw fireworks!
http://news.google.com/ 4th item down on the right hand side, at the top of the page. 676 related articles.
Later TO
YAY TO!!!! later...
thanks. I'll look at it.
Denny, I don't think they had any choice. Teh show is heavily edited, and it's true they only show half the story, but if they left this out, what could they show us? How could they explain why Shilpa was crying?
Wow. that is nasty...
As I said I dont watch it but the papers showed Leo Sayer walking out and someone else did I think..although nothing to do with this trouble..I still say cancel the show!
stid, there's subtle racism and overt bullying in the show, coming from 3 girls in particular, directed at a bollywood star. They've singled her out and scapegoated her. They are being deeply b*tchy and nasty towards her. Jermaine Jackson, the Face from the A-Team (Dirk Benedict), and H from Steps have allied themselves with Shilpa, but they haven't stood up for her. Cleo Rocos is trying to act as go between, but she lacks the strength against these ignoramuses.
from what i can gather on various shows i've watched, a lot of people are angry at the bystanders not standing up for her and just watching in the background. I think they do have achoice babbler - they edit out swearing, so why not the abuse? i have to admit to being quite cynical and think that channel4 are being lacksadaiscal because they want the publicity. after all they have 24 hours of daily tv to use?
I am disappointed in Benedict if that is true, we went to the same college... though he is MUCH older than I am! I would have expected better from him.
I agree, Denny. Channel 4 are probably rubbing their hands at this record publicity. It's all money for them. Vile.
It's still brewing, Stid. Jermaine Jackson is close to blowing, and Dirk (I hope) isnt' far behind. They're trying to keep things together, and be there for Shilpa, without making things worse. That's how it looks to me anyway.
But the real disappointment is that anyone would treat another human being in that way.
Im glad H is standing with her..(he is a local boy)
exactly right, stid. It started from a light-hearted silly show, to one that's got me close to tears.
H is a credit to you if he's a local boy!
RO4/5...any clues?
i think all thepeople who have complained to ofcom and channel 4 should vote with their fingers and switch off from channel 4/e4. the public will have far more power thatn the government. after all, do we really think that charges will be brought against these people?
liz: the mythical bird?
H was in the diary room the other day, saying about the divide in the house and how it reminded him of how he was bullied at school. Then he took himself off to the bathroom and cried his eyes out. :(
TY
i nee the first co4/5 and the second c0 5/12 please
apparently, Carphone Warehouse are reviewing their association with the show, Denny. It's worth £3 million.
is the firs co 4/5 the rug-making material like sisal?
the 5/12 is probably a plural.... (guessing, I have 90 words but not listing yet)
Oh I am proud of him then Babbler ..There is quite a lot of racism around here.(catty comments etc)
stid, i don't know the rug making material word
i should think so too - they have had enough bad publicity with their talk talk shenanigans. i did hear earlier that Jade goody had been dropped from an anti-bullying campaign. well i could carry on debatig this for ages but kids need their bath. see you all later babblers
It's everywhere, unfortunately. It's how we deal with it that's important. Some people are cloaking it all under "cultural ignorance", but that's wrong. When Shilpa mentioned something H didn't know, he asked what it was and she explained. That's what normal people do! The catty girls use Shilpa's differences and are nasty about them.
CO + last two letters of what you breathe, mag
later Denny!
hehe, you're not wrong Denny! Laters.
AR 4/5, not the semicircle one?
Bye Denny
it is only when we stand up against the ignorance and prejudice, even when it is small, that it begins to diminish
liz: the gas station? starts the same, ends with vowel
exactly right, stid. All it takes is for one person to say "that's wrong!"
nm got them now
TY
I agree stid I have always taught my children (and now grandchildren) We are all Gods children .There is good and bad in every race, creed or colour.
Thought the 5/10 might lead off it, BUT, any clues for the AR5/10?
yes caitlyn, very wise. When my children try to paint any person, historical or modern, with a single broad stroke, I remind them that even truly awful people have a spark of light in them; and the ones who seem very good can still make mistakes and be mean.
Act of illegal fire lighting liz

Did you hang up on your caller stid?
how could I get to 100 words and only just now see there are FORTY off the one C? *sigh*

ro name: Officer Coltrane on Dukes of hazzard (for those of you who remember)
thanks tor -- guess I'll have to google it, unless you have a breakdown clue?

veronica, millicent, agnes and jane - convivial company time and again

This, without doubt, is the worst grid I've come across since I began playing -- more words without defs. (made up in my opinion), weird spellings, foreign language etc. I wonder if we asked if Dr. God could switch to a normal dictionary, like Websters!
I think enable must be one of those websites where anyone can go in and make an entry.
Right, kids in bed, kitchen tidied (sort of), am armed with cup of ch** and plain chocolate digestives. Let babble commence!!
clue for ts6 please
back at the flip -- hopefully it will be a more realistic grid

Sometimes this game totally humiliates me....needed the list to find so4/4. How pathetic is that!!! Fireworks at last
Have you checked out any freelance writing gigs?
congrats chiley
i hope so. they want people with masters degrees, which i have not got, but then, most of the people that seem to do online tutoring are from india, so, i have the advantage of speaking perfectly intelligible english
thx dippnall, finally got it!
cause they use skype and stuff
haven't checked out too much freelance writing stuff
Sometimes local papers need reviewers or things like that . .
yeah... the trouble is i'm in such a rural area.
hint on the ar 8/50 pls?
coy women sometimes have ar8 in their smiles (and eyebrows)
man, what a long pause

Had a phone call ..

Maybe torgone was calling all the others.
lol
Is your tongue okay?

i would chat but it is difficult to do while holding a sleeping kitten in one hand :)
no, my tongue is burnt. the tip, anyway. overheated my applesauce. :(

Burnt tongue. Not so good. Best wishes for an early recovery.
lol, ty vi
If you talk a lot it heals faster.
oc5 please
really?
jeepers..a 9 and 10 letter word in this one!
Dunno, but it sounded like a good rationalization.
oc5 set of 8
So, is it all ages all subjects, or what?
i don't think online talking will help though, lol
thanks thought i tried that combination already
well, the site is, yes, and then, they see what you are most comfortable tutoring and they have you do that
my best is obviously HS math but i can do other things if necessary. however, there is probably lots of demand for math anyway.
last se5/10?
And you said they do skype and stuff, too. I would think it would be harder than in person, but still cool.
i can se5 that you need some help with it
tor - it just doesn't make *****
yeah. apparently for math help you also need to have a digital pad and pen, so i'll have to get one of those if they hire me.
You're right, it doesn't . .
Wow. Isn't technology amazing! :)
quite!
how are things with you vi?
ro 7/28 clues pls
cockadoodledoo minus t and pl
ty Hursh
Just dandy, thanks, hursh! The kids just had their second day ever of staying at preschool until 2:30, so I just had the most peaceful and liesurely day!
ro7/28 is plural ro6/18 -- the cock without his beverage
haha ch1212
nice clue ch1212
thanks, glad you made sense of it :)
I slept in, I tried to print a wood block (but it didn't work very well), I started dinner in the slow cooker, I paid bills and balanced the checkbook, I sorted papers, I ate my lunch, I talked with a friedn on the phone, and not once did anyone cry, whine, interrupt, or ask to have a book read! Wheee!
oooppps! Sorry. (sheepishly heads for the penalty box)
Interesting how smaller pops up when certain words are mentioned ..
Good afternoon Babblers!
sounds terrific, vi :)
Hi Scrabbler -- fantastic icon!
hahaha tor, right back atcha
Yup! Hello, Scrabbler, smaller, ch1212!
Evening everyone
hi vic!
Hello, ren8.
clues si 5/10 pls
Hello Vic
si5/10 - strange pl for female sibs?
sistars
LOL alison!
oops
I wanted it to take sistah and sistahs.
thank you Vicuna
Do you get another list to use if you pay the money to upgrade to pro?
You get the tile and word stats and get a flag and icon. And you're then a real pro.
Come on Alison join the real fun!!
I have played so much better since I went pro. LOL.
*^!FIREWORKS!^* thanks for all the clues. Off to batten down the hatches
(you have the tile and word states for 2 weeks when you register, keep them if you go pro)
If we're pros, how come no one's paying us to do this?
Whoopie!..but how do you guys know you need a word so many letters long and the first two letters?
i want to batten down some hatches!
Yahooo deb
Well done Debs, I am sure that awful weather will soon be in Surrey too
Go to lickety's list at the bottom of this page
or BJ's list on the babbler's anonymous page
Vicuna--someone should be endorsing us to play Babble. Oxford dictionary, universities, book publishers,...
ren - i'm on the Surrey/sussex/hants border so dont think youll be far behind us
hursh--is that pic from the Princess Bride
Are these just people who have found the words and want to help?
well hope everything will be ok for you in the morning Debs
Lickety created a special program for us, because we are pros.
no they have programs
yes scrabbler, natch
they told me it was pirate day
You to - goodnight all
but some of us don't use the list and we find the words and want to help, it just doesn't happen all at once.
Nite Debs
alisonofwi, you're not my sister by any chance, are you?
I LOVE that movie--hilarious! Especially the wedding: serious setting and minister, then "Mawage...." I lose it everytime!
hmm, if you feel like popping over (what, 5, 6 hours?) we can watch it sometime :)
I have the VHS and bought the DVD when it was on sale--I had to have it.
me too
i typed out a complete script myself in high school. sat in front of the tv for 2 days...
And here I thought you guys were all way smarter than me..
lol, hurshy. I just bought the book!
have you read the book?
alison - sister, or no?
I don't think I'm your sister..but do you need one?
i read the book AND i sent off for the extra scene
i have a sister named alison in wisconsin who i have tried to get to play babble, that's all
Wow--you really like that movie! No, but I saw it recently and it is on my long list of books to read "someday"
I am actually from wi(nslow) Maine, not from WI, but I did live there as a kid for 3 years!
ah, oh well. :)
I sent off for the extra scene, too. But it didn't really exist. :(
well I have company.Pretty bad when I make them wait to greet them! Thanks for the info..later!
Bye Alison
Hursh--have you finished the grid already?
Yes, I read it. I meant I just simply bought the book, not I just now bought the book.
it didn't exist per se, but they sent a very funny thing
yes, finished grid before lunch
did you get the funny thing explaining why there was no extra scene, vi?
They did??? No fair! Mine just got returned to sender!
That's what I figured. 82 to go for me--the ch's were easier than I expected and I am now working on the co's
hmmm, when did you do it? maybe it's been too many years?
si5 anyone?
c's not too bad today
si5 female sibling, ebonics style
Well, I did it like 15 or 20 years ago, but maybe it was already too late then. :(
well no cause clearly i sent mine later than that.
NO FAIR!
I am not good at ebonics--help please
not brother but
i'll see if i can dig it up - i can't imagine i would have thrown it out but also have no idea where it might be by now
I know the corrct spelling but am trying to figure out this variation
The si5 looks like a strange pl of not bros.
sounds like sixes
TY Vicuna
oops sizes
YW, Scrabbler.
oh gosh
i was conflating si5 and si6
sorry about that folks
heh heh conflating
what is funny about conflating?
conflating is a big word
oh.
hurshy had a dictionary for breakfast
Definition please--I must claim ignorance
no, i had total cereal. and peach juice.
We are all guilty of conflatulence at one time or another ..
bevis and butthead would find it amusing
conflating means confusing two things by combining elements of each.
conflatulence, that is
conflating, same root as inflating
Oh, like mixing things up.
I wish I'd had Alpha-bits. Maybe that would help me find words!
LOL torgone
in a really stinky way
it's not quite the same as mixing them up, because, i was sort of merging si5 and si6 (thought there was the word "sista")
Well, sometimes these grids dysflate me
But do they deflate you?
hi all - just changed my icon to be the babies - here's the twins!
They most certainly deflate me.
beano = deflatulence
aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh so cute
How are the twins, TNC? And their names?
I'm headed to the school to get my niece to take her to the hospital to see Jackson and Maria.
tea and crackers, obviously.
Yup, they look like babies! lol
No, hursh, those are HER kids. The twins are niece and nephew.
Or Cappuccino and Biscotti
Maria was first at 8:16 this morning and she weighs 6 lbs 6 oz and is 19 inches long. Jackson arrived one minute later and weighs 6 lb 7 oz and 20 inches long.
Big for twins--they must have been close to term.
oh see, i don't pay enough attention. when people talk about babies... i zone out
He was having a bit of trouble breathing this morning, but seems to be doing well. Thanks for sharing with me! She was 37 weeks yesterday.
sc6/24?
Hi speedfreak!!!!
sc6 starts with 3 cons and rhymes with lickety's l***
sc6/24 - first three letters of where kids go to learn + first 4 letters of a standard subject they learn
Their combined weight was exactly the same as my kids'. Their mother must have been enormous!
Hello RKB!!!
clues for is 5/10 please
is5/10 japanese immigrant

Evening Mo
MINE
Evening kristinc

sorry
ro 6/21 anyone?
hi ren8, nut, mo, smaller, haz, and others :)
hi ren and Haz ...yes I do have the en7.
en7/40, compound word where you find the pot of gold en10 - if you make the en7 end like a stae ruled by a king or queen, and then pl it
en7 - what you say when the story is finished, followed by a cheeky architectural feature. For the en10, imagine that the en7 has the sometimes vowel attached - plural it. The whole word looks like a campaign to stop shortening Archibald's name.
great clues on the en words people! thanks!
add 3 vowels to yhe en7=en10
Haz thank you ... great clue!
TY for those clues!
ro6/21 - the name of a famous, fast-serving tennis player - Mr Tanner, or take most of Mr Gellar from Friends and add to Lord Sebastian, the Olympian.
You're welcome, mo!
and Vicuna too.
:)
I like your pirates, mo!
great clues for the en7 & 10, thanks everyone
thanks Vicuna.
I need the ro6/21 and 7/32 please anyone?
mo - clued just below at 3.48
Slang for a gun ..
The first 2 cr's--what is the next vowel? A? E? or O? I have the other cr's.
thanks Haz ... will go back.
i need the ne 5/10
o
All cr words have the same third letter.
TY torgone--I 'll keep looking
ne5/10 - rhymes with a bank robbery (he***)
scrab...kind of like a singer, a cr***** but with only one vowel
I found them--C's are done.
hi everyone...how many ts's are there?
good clues Haz ... thank you.
thanks for the hint haz
There are 3 ts words.
Nine T's
Hi all. Can I get a clue for the si5,10. It's the only one I'll need today. Promise
Glad to help.

well done une!
Tres chic Une

se6/18 - those who do the action portrayed in se5/10
Lickety's list just "lost" all of my entries. Waaaaaa

Yippeee for you lbd
double congrats then dawg!
well done lbd
Deep breaths, Scrabbler. We feel your pain.

Hi hodag
Hi hodag
hey hodag!
I will manage--I am just whining.
got the sss's thanks but need that silly sr4 word please.
*rushes yummy dessert to scrabbler*

Hi Hodag
Sr* Lanka, then add S
hello babblers!

Haz and Scrabbler ,thank you.
Hi Fran
Chocolate always helps, Kristin, TY.
Hello Fran - I haven't been here the whole time, honestly!

Hello Fran
sris
hello fran!

sorry wrong box
Yes, chancellor--you got it
((((nod)))
hi hodag! hi mo! hi ren! hi kristin!
yup, i believe you too Haz (cuz Fran said so!)
nod nod nod!!!
yah what she said!
Hey, FranMag, I love your info in your bio. It's so nice to know that being born in Cleveland (as I was) does not prevent me from pursuing a life of piracy.
It's a conspiracy. I'll have to start a campaign to prove my innocence and babble absence.
lol vicuna!
rofl haz!
But until I take to the seas, I must go read a book to my darling tots. bbl
later vicuna!
You can do it, Vicuna--be a pirate!
but haz, we believe you...really *fingers crossed behind Frans back*
bye vicuna!
bye vicuna
later vicuna
Can Spangle testify on my behalf?
that would work, she has a very honest face.
the last ch5/14 and 6/24 please?
bye Vicuna
Exactly - and give her enough dog biscuits she'll say or do anything I ask.
bye Vicuna.
ch***practor
Clue for ar8 please?
a true friend haz! :-)
The state of being curved
thanks scrabbler, i needed those too.
MO, good vibes plus what to do with your boat going up stream minus the w
ar8 combines an architectural feature with the monster of the loch to give a cheeky characteristic
Great clues - ty!
Hi everyone!
hi peri
hi peri!
hola peri!
hello Peri
Those last 2 en words (6 and 8) are stupid words.
thanks forclues for the ch words.
howdy Peri
peri welcome.
I am hypothermic and must get hot tea--anybody want some?
ar 8/ 10 ?
The en6/18 is a political movement for the union between Cyprus and Greece. What it's doing in enable is anybody's guess.
Scrabbler, you don't like the union of Greece and Cyprus?
what's stupid is i found the en7 and en10 on my own, but still missed the first er4/4!
me please Scrabbler.
I have been busy making hearts with polymer clay. I have made pendants, pins and magnets. They have turned out pretty well. Unfortunately I do not have a digital camera.
chancellor - the ar8 was clued just a short while ago if you scroll back in the log.
peri are those for valentine's day craft fairs?
It is freckin cold here and the tea sounds wonderful!!
no but that is an idea Fran, was just going to show them to friends this weekend. Since I don't have a steady job at the moment it is harder. A few years ago I made heart pendants from salt dough and make $70 in a few days. Polymer clay is so much easier to work with.
I have 2 ts words , a 7 and a 6 but cannot get the other ts6 ... can someone help please?
The two ts6 words differ only in the last vowels used.
it looks like a lot of fun peri, have you see "get crafting" (i think that's the name) on HGTV?
dawger--the en8 is a ridiculously spelled word
Mo, it's all in the ending. 2nd or 3rd vowel and snake
Scrabbler, I agree a lot like the en10/91!
Mo and hodag--here is your hot tea, be careful.
Haz and lbdawger thank you so much ... that has been bugging me for ages!!
okay, I'm missing the sc6/24 and one of the sc5/6 combos...I have the total at a game and the angry feeling...can someone help on the others?
no Fran, I don';t have cable :( but I will try to see it when I am ata my sisters
hot choc sounds good...brb anyone like a cup while i'm up?
TY,TY,TY,you are a sweety........lol
Chocolate? yes!
Kristi, a bisquit and plural
sc6/24 - replace the sc with a w and you would have a card game.
me lbd!
sluurpp ...that is so good ...thanks Scrabbler.
please.
duh! thanks dawg!
kristin--a little something to go with tea sc5/12, pl for 6/21
now I just need the sc6/24 :)
how appropriate whilst we are enjoying some tea :)
sc plus one of the attention-seeking words in the grid.
yum it is warm all the way downnnnnn
hot chocolate now!! wow ... i shall be running to the loo all night now!!!
The attention-seeking word sounding like what the snake did...
aha...found it, thanks :)
4 to go!
GO Kristin!
or6/18 anyone?
can't see the ar5/10
I still need help with that sc6 clue---card game?
ar5/10 - call the fire brigade
I am all done now ... clues anyone?
peri, lighting a fire on purpose
when a fire is set by someone
yay mo!
duh, thanks Haz
and Scrabbler too
or+ vowel + not daughter
Scrabbler - use the other clue, sc plus an attention seeking word, resembling what the snake said. (sc6/24)
ty Haz
Yippeeeeee mp!
thanks Fran
thanks scrab!
Congratulations mo!
well done mo!
thank you all!
Well done Mo
help anyone?
en6/18 please
good for you MO!!
whoo hoo MO!
last ro word? does it have a double cons. by chance?
kristin - no - it is a latin plural for a small platform
don't worry, just found en6/18
LOL, I already had that sc6,24--
haz, thanks for that sc6, needed that one too
first two ch6/24 please
Haz you are so quick with your clues .
You're welcome, Fran.
It had been clued differently this AM
ren8, don't forget to plural that en6
time to go cook,left-overs tonight..........seeya
Peri--they are pl of ch5's
have done thanks lbd
bye hodag ;)
bye Hodag
HODAG GOODNIGHT.
ther are three ch6/24 and I have one so far
Mo - some people would say that it's because I've been here all day, but we know that's not true, don't we?
see you later Hodag
need to find the other ch5;s
okay, I give...I can't find that last ro6 and I did see you clue haz but hate to admit...I'm drawing a blank
bye hodag!
all ch6's are plurals Peri
All of the ch6's are pl for ch5's ahead of them
Yes we do Haz!!!
ro + hay is also called ****w
kristin, do you remember "dukes of hazzard"? ro**** p. coltrain was the sherrif
Okay , kristin for the ro6, try the start of a flower, (three letters) then the start of the opposite of comedy (three letters)
Haz, did you just get here?
oh never mind, wrong one!
Kristi, start with flower drop last vowel and add first three letters of tr4.5
got it...thanks haz :) (and fran who confused me for just a second ;) )
Scrabbler - I was here this morning, left for a stint at the surgery this afternoon, and then dropped in this evening. Some people think I never left....
:-)
Glad you got there, kristin.
we believe you Haz honestly.
thanks also dawg!
I know, Hazel, I am just acknowledging your presence, once again.
it's your karma HAZ, it has a lasting impression :-)
haz, it's because we can't imagine the ch4 log without you!
You say the nicest things, lbd!
okay, last one si6...I should be able to get it I'm sure and yet....
We have achieved en6,18 with Hazel!
only if it's the truth, otherwise i'll sidestep the topic! lol
lol scrabbler
bbl
anyway what does it matter how long you have been here ... we are so glad of all the help you give us.
bye Peri, see you tomorrow
Kristin - that si6 mirrors the structure of the small platform
later peri
later peri !
bye peri
Well, I enjoy being here. Can you tell?
Kristi, like the ro6 ending with not brother beginning
and done, thaks haz :)
*thanks and thanks dawg!
Congratulations kristin!
whoo hoo Kristi!
must have been that letter combo...I was subconsciously avoiding it :)
Yippeeeeeee Kristin!
yay kristin!!
Well done Kristin
Here is a biscuit for Hazel--for being such a good girl!
well done kristin.
did you get some of your words reentered scrabbler?
thanks for the help folks!
Thank you Scrabbler. I'll wash it down with a nice cup of coffee.
No, I am using the list to guide me, but I haven't re-entered yet---maybe for the S's.
what about a biscuit for Spangle too?
okay, just curious how you were faring. I still hate it when that happens to others (and to me)
Here you go Spangle----nice doggie.
TY for asking, Kristin. At least it is not a huge grid, otherwise I would have shot myself.
Spangle is happily asleep at the moment. You know you're a dog owner when your coat pockets are full of poo bags (empty!) and dog biscuits.
haz, the "empty" made all the difference in that sentence.
fireworks!!
lol Haz, oh so true! kinda like when the kids were small, pockets of tissues, pacifiers, purse loaded with diapers etc.
Congratulations Fran!
Whoo hoo Frannie!
good for you haz for being a responsible dog owner (with the poo bags). We're having a real issue with that at my house right now...so yucky!
hooray fran!
It's a law of nature that the smaller the infant, the more 'stuff' they need.
Yahooo Fran!
congratulations Fran
thanks everyone!
It's not the most pleasant task, Kristin, but how on earth can you NOT do it?
Haz, aint that the truth !
well, anytime you want to walk in my lawn...you're more than welcome :)
Thanks kristin!
The oo word please?
Haz, my neighbours have two dogs like yours and I look after them occasionally ... they are so lively and adorable.
Do you have a pooper scooper kristi?
If it was an ee word it would be scary. (oo5)
Clue for that darm oo5?
never mind!
no...but I'm about to invest in one...or multiple ones and give them to my dog-walking neighbors :)
TY Haze. ****Scrabbler gives Hazel another biscuit***l
i'd rather pick up after the dogs in winter...poopsicles are better than the summer paddies!
They're great, mo, I take great pleasure in Spangle's company.
okay, I'm going to scoot for the day. Enjoy the grid folks :)
bye kristin!
Bye kristin - have a good day.
Bye Kristin!
Later Kristi, make your neighbors presents of their dogs leavings!
Bye Kristin, see you tomorrow
bye kristin
Nice pre-dinner image, dawger.
lol dawg :) okay, see ya 'll
sorry Scrabbler
LOL lbd
Hi all. Home from work and my babble stuff is gone :( That has never happened to me before. No words...no nuthin'. 157 to go?
are the so7 and 9 related?
yes kaurie, 9 is the plural
The so9 is the plural of so7.
I lost everything I had entered on lickety's list, but your situation is more grim.
yes kaurie they are.
Is it worth going back into work again? No, I thought not.....
i was hoping maybe i had a chance on 1 or the other, ok, thanks!
gramma what a shame!!!
when i lived in AZ, the neighbor's dog came into our yard and did his business all the time. I kindly asked the neighbor to either clean up after his dog or train it to go else where. His comment was, he's trained to poop in my yard. I scooped the presents up and delivered them to his front door. nicely wrapped in plastic mind you.
It should be there--if you logged on under the same name.
yo people give me some answers
oh dear gramma...:-(
And did that cure the problem, lbd?
What is the question, yellow cookie?
Maybe I messed up this am.
Haz, well, i thought we were going to have a poopin contest, but his wife said she'd shoot the dog if she saw it going in my yard again.
Sounds reasonable.....
and did she lbd?
i liked his wife! he on the other hand...
HI All just back for a chat - managed to finish the grid this morning = had the day of work
dog lived, hubby got arrested a couple times for various activities. It was an interesting neighborhood. I'm glad I don't live there any more
hi Kazzer.

Hi Kazzer
It sounds like you're better out of there!
hi Kazzer
Hi Mo - how are you doing
hello kazzer
And hello Kazzer, by the way.
Yes, i love my neighbors here. I just wish the job market was better,
well thanks Kazzer. and you?
Hi lb been reading your chat about the dog -we're lucky we dont have many around here
it helps too to have a highway patrol trooper as a neighbor! :-)
There seem to be a few babblers on the lookout for jobs.
glad to hear the dog survived!
gramma, did you try refreshing and not touch anything until the screen is fully loaded?
I quit mine at the end of term in December. Fed up with politics and nonsense.
I am much better for my day off - hubby and I have had the dratted flu and its after effects which seem mainly to be fatigue and sleeplessness - only splt about 6 hours over the past 3 days
ooh Kazzer, please get well, and send the bugs to siberia
these c words are really annoying me tonight, got 7 more to find
you can do it ren8
Hullo everyone. Just to let you know I'm back from my trip around the world--more later. Can't wait to start babbling!

Hi Hetty

Kazzer, 50's not so bad.
whew, thanks for clearing that up Stid! lol
I know lots of really cool people who passed 50 decades ago, Kazzer!
NO not really - its just the next day on the great adventure - I live by the principle that you only get one shot at life - there's no practise runs.
Kazzer ...you should be so lucky1 ...think of us oldies!!!
welp, gotta go rustle up something for dinner. hopefully it's thawed or easily microwaved! lol
Bye lb

hi kate -- how's things today?
hello kth
really good thanks stid, everything is going to plan so far, apart from that I still haven't packed anything!
kth are you just taking personal things or furniture and stuff?
The packing will happen. It'll be okay. Good to hear the other things are coming along. Am told the weather for your part of the globe has been cold and not so nice this week though!
just clothes and stuff, a few toys, whatever fits in our cases
yeah it's been raining and gloomy and rather cold this week, but nowhere near as cold as it will be when we get to toronto!
well that shouldnt take long ... have the girls got their passports yet?
Bye folks. Good luck with the grid. See you tomorrow.
bye Scrabbler.
I've got one of them mo, the other needed the photo redoing cos it was too small or something, I'm hoping it's right this time
bye scrabbler! see you tomororw
that's true, maybe you can view it as "transitional" weather! LOL
hi all
glad to hear things are going ok for you all now ... are the girls looking foreward to their new life?
hello Dorens, how's "the author's mother"?
they are really excited about going to see grandma linda, that's all I've told them so far
one step at a time eh?
have they met your mother before, kate?
osha
nope, Eva, not the word I need! LOL
so sorry!
2nd cr5/12 please
good stid, thanks. My copy of the book came in the mail... have to finish the grid quickly so i can get into it!
now if you want to drop the NINE in the log... *hint, hint*
peri-I probably don't have them all yet, but I have the old lady and the hot buns
cr5 ... be annoyed
is that the sign people make to bless themselves if they're Catholic?
exciting Kae... you have a date yet?
stid do you happen to have the so7 it sounds like a type of skin disease
yeah stid she visited in summer and they have seen her before then too but a long time ago
no peri, I don't yet.... *looking now*
mo isn't that the firs cr5/12
that's good, then they won't be complete strangers to each other...
stid the so7 and so9 are really odd words
last se 6/18 please
so7 sounds like a simplified spelling of liver disease, so9 is the improbable plural ..
ollag are you playing
maybe I'll need more help then, peri, I am not really all here...
and se5/10 following please
no it is the second peri.
the first cr 5/12 is another word for "hag" or old woman
stid it start similar to the opp of fraternities
so7 = so + 1st 3 letters of a flower + part of the verb to be
thanks stid, ws going in circle looking for that one
the 1st cr5/12 is cr + a low number then plural
so9 pl of so7
hi tor and Buzzy! and peri *thinking*
sounds more like a liver disease not skin diseases the so7
HI there. I've just finished but I'll hang around for a while if anyone needs some hints
GOT THEM!!! woo-hoo!
YAY Buzzy!

last se 6/18 please
George So*** ** involved with The Open Society Institute
Yay for sitd
and the so 7 is "a fleshy multiple fruit composed of many flowers, seed vessels, and receptacles consolidated, as in the pineapple and mulberry." also a woman's society! (the things we learn here -- and they say it's a waste of time!)
now only 29 reasonable-sized words to go.
thanks, torgone - got it
wow, torgone. that clue is way better than the word itself.
appreciate the great clue, tor, back to cooking dinner!
se 6/18 pl of spanish mister
stid as I told someone yesterday, playing babble increases my vocabulary, improves my hand-eye coordination and helps with my social skills
He also founded the Quanum Fund
your clue helped me get it stidmama, thanks
there you go, peri! exactly... :-)
yw wyrd! how are you?
thx buzzy
*Quantum
when do u get a score? when u stop trying to make more words. I signed on last night and i came back tonite and the same board is still here. i got a few more words. but what happens next? and i was only here for a little bit last nite, and when i turned on my computer, the time jumped to 6 hours left!
frozen but good stidmama! could be worse, could be in south dakota like hubby is
last sh5/12 and 6/18 please
i think i just found the answer. i guess at midnite tonite, the puzzle closes and scores are posted.
depends on where you are word, here in Aus it changes at 5pm daily
ADHD-true, but you can see what your score is at the bottom of your word list. If y9ou mean that you want to see your rank, then you have to wait until the next day.
sh 5/12 sh + 1st 4 letters of a subject you learn at school and pl
i can see my score thus far, but i guess it closes out tonight at midnite.
then does that mean there will be a brand new puzzle board?
1pm EST in the US
yes word
yes, every 24 hours
do you all have the same board as me?
tx eva
10 pm PST
then it should've changed this afternoon
and it didn't
1 am est
or is it 1am
1AM EST here not PM
you all r so nice here. i think i'll pay to stay here
ADHD-if you look at the bottom of the screen, under the grid, there are a number of links. One of them is babble for dummies (not that you are) which will explain all
it's midnight central time that the game changes
central time appears to be the Babble "GMT" as it were
tx somebody said pm lol
ADHD: also check out angelsongs resourcepages... they are full of helps and ideas! http://www.freewebs.com/angelsong/
tx eva... again
it really is worth the fee...this is the only site I'v found where the fun of the game is helping each other o9ut. I'm the one who said 1pm-sorry-time is not my strong point(-:
catch y'all later
buzzy am confused re school subject
neither is typing
bye word
well, I just got the last C. *sigh of relief* later ADHD!
school subject where you learn about what happened in the past
Just can't find the second hi 4/5...4's should be easy to monkey but I just can't seem to find it..any clues would be appreciated!
not easy to monkey cause it's two consonants at the end ddb
ddb it is a babblet hi+snake letter and hump letter
you could have hern, or hi**
thx buzzy
ddb4: hillybilly slang for belonging to that fella
how about that last RO 6?
the r i need too, thanks for asking stid
hi 45 opp of her + consonant
yw Dorens, glad to help! ;-)
ro 6 = 1st 3 letters of the flower + a syllable that you sing when you don't know the words
All great clues, but the one I can't find is the second 4/5...feeling rather dense...
aha thanks ddb... latin plural of ro*****
thanks Buzzy!

snake sound, ddb4?
bbl
later peri!
bye peri

foflol that's hilarious! naw I am just proud of how many I have at my age ( : more than friends 20 years older lol and I love to rub it in
I will be lucky to get a single grandkid... though my boys are not even in highschool yet, I can see they will be those "highly motivated" types who don't have kids until very late...
I know -- that's the silly thing of it, terri -- you're only a few years older, and already you get to hold grandbabies...
I am so glad to be young with them, I ride Sheikra a busch gardens with them ( :

I don't know, mousey. Do you? Mice don't like cheese that much really. I had 22 of them, so I know that. They like toast though.
y/w, peri.
Need to find my last word now...
Hi judi.
American mice like peanut butter, Jacula.
hi all its really me mousey lol!
Do they, Judi? Never tried that on mine.
yes they do
Toast sounds a bit more economical, though.
who belives im really mousey
BettyAnne - is5/10 & plural 6 - Japanese Americans.
Which A am I missing. Have ar4/5x3, ar4/4, ar5/10.
Oops. One of those A's is an ar4/6,not a 4/5.
hi- I'm pretty new to babble. Can someone explain "Tile Stats" What does "C 1/40" mean, for example?
Thanks Jacula.

hey ya'll
Yay for Jacula!
congrats Jacula!
Welcome aboard, ADHA and Eyeman.
one more question... what is the point structure?
hi gramm aka person with a nice car
its really me mousey
hi mousey aka inge3 ( :
how do you know what each tile is worth?
Thanks, Judi. Trying to understand "Tile Stats".
how you doing finding words today mousey?
Thanks peri & grammat1.
Sounds like inge3 is really an "offspringe".
SCORING Each tile has a point value. To determine the score for a word, the point-value for the length of the word is multiplied by the total letter values for the word: 4-letter word = 1 x Points 5-letter word = 2 x Points 6-letter word = 3 x Points 7-letter word = 4 x Points 8-letter word = 5 x Points 9-letter word = 6 x Points
the number under the letter adhd
ar8/50 anyone please
yep lol sence there was 2 inge`s i thought we needed another
pretty good gramm
you are clever mousey ( :
you mean inge
Never mind. I got it.
builds on the 4/6 bettyanne, add an N4 to it
oh yes pardon me inge3
where do i find how much each tile is worth? on the grid? is that the number on each tile?
Tile stats are confusing. Means there are (usually) various words that start with a certain letter - such as E. Then the e words are grouped seperately into boxes, such as e words that start with en, er, etc.
yes adhd
ADHD - You can find the rules by clicking on the 'Help' section above. However, I'll post the info here for you just this once...
ahhh....both work
Rules of Play OBJECT To list as many words of the highest point value as you can find among the random assortment of letters in the cube grid. PLAYING Search the puzzle board for words of four letters or more. When you find a word, add it to your list using the form below the puzzle. Words are formed from adjoining letters. Letters must join in the proper sequence to spell a word. They may join horizontaly, vertically or diagonally to the left, right, up or down. No letter cube, however may be used more than once within a single word. TYPES OF WORDS ALLOWED The only words that are allowed are those that can be found in the Enable dictionary. You may look for any type of word - noun, verb, adjective, adverb, etc. Plural nouns are acceptable, as are all verb tenses. Words within words are also allowed. (e.g. revolt and volt) TYPES OF WORDS NOT ALLOWED Proper nouns, abbreviations, contractions, hyphenated words and foreign words that are not in the Enable Dictionary. SCORING AND WINNING Every night at midnight CT, the day's puzzle closes. The high score list for the day will then appear showing everyone's total score. SCORING Each tile has a point value. To determine the score for a word, the point-value for the length of the word is multiplied by the total letter values for the word: 4-letter word = 1 x Points 5-letter word = 2 x Points 6-letter word = 3 x Points 7-letter word = 4 x Points 8-letter word = 5 x Points 9-letter word = 6 x Points Example: Word: BABBLE Points: 3 x (3+1+3+3+1+1) Total: 36 pts. The winner is the player who has the highest point total when the puzzle closes. THINGS TO REMEMBER * The same word found in two different areas of the puzzle may not be used. * The "Qu" cube counts as two letters. * Points are awarded for both the singular and plural forms of a noun
yes. D is worth 2 points, J is worth 6 points, etc
ty Jacula
i never pay attenion to them
Thanks grammaterri1
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. I GET IT NOW AND I THINK I MAY HAVE FOUND A NEW GAME TO BE ADDICTED TO BESIDES SCRABULOUS .COM.
yw bettyanne
Yes, best to ignore tile stats. Good for checking to see if you have all of a particular letter done. Box turns black when you've typed in all the relative words.
thanks again really
one of us... one of us...one of us...one of us...
grammat1 - I was looking at your profile earlier. 14 grandchildren! WOW! What happens if they all visit at once?
you should inge3, the point total of a word helps you know what letters you need to make a word
this goes way beyond boggle
welcome and good luck word lover!
lol Jacula, they do often visit all at once, we are very close
thanks a lot, Judi!
adhd, cross between boggle and scrabble
help with the ar8 please?
puts a whole new spin on the game. i was just playing it like boggle since last nite. this is awesome.
grammaterri1 - I guess you would be close if you only have a small house and they, and their parents, are all visiting at the same time.;-)

chat is flying by, hard to catch up on what's going on!
hiho gramma
co 4/5? the 1st one
i'm babbling and idoling again
en8/40: Opposite of begin + Jughead's pal (plural).
chancellor, en8 is plural of the en6
Oops. I guess I clued the en10/91. Well, just deal with it.
prismmgc2 - co4/5 is a type of fibre mats are made with.
prism, like the group of carrollers without the h
en + 4th vowel + female sibling + plural letters
ty judi! :o)
thank you for the 10 judi!
16 left bbl
hey Stiddy, are you done?
*Shamelessly flexes brain cells*. You're welcome.
later peri
grammat - si6 is an old Egyptian percussion instrument. Your little female sibling +
ty ty ty!
i think she finished (stid) and is off making dinner
Judi - I'd like to see what flexing braincells looks like.:)
ty Jacula! I just monkeyed it, can't believe it
Hard to explain, Jacula. However, I think my ears moved.
ahh, thanks Feather.
the word or that I got it lol
en8 = the plural of en6/18 before it. It actually refers to the union of Greece & Cyprus but sounds more like an illness ending.
grammaterri, your granddaughter is so cute! #14! yikes!
Judi - ROFLOL.
ty lbd ( :
hondao5....IM me! my phone's broken :(
Now, if I were to go watch American Idol, my brain cells would die a visible and spectacular death.
Don't do it then, Judi.
my eardrums are bleeding so far. there has been one good one. and the rest painful or interesting.
aren't grandkids the greatest reward for surviving our kids lbd? yours is adorable too!
brain implosions are quite messy so are explosions
grands are great paybacks! lol
Their eardrums were bleeding in the episode of Stargate Atlantis I watched earlier. That was due to whale song though.
Constant displays of public humiliation bore me (after a while).
amen lbd
*flashes on dory speaking "whale" in finding nemo*
how many kids do you have grammat?
4 biological and 1 foster
lol feather!
Time to throw in the towel. Been here almost an hour and only got one word. Quitting with 49 orphans.
night judi!
awww bye judi
and they are prolific for you to have 14 grands! (just teasing.)
feather - not seen that film, though do have a pic of me having 'found Nemo' in the shop at the safari park. LOL.
Night judi

*flex flex*
heh, cute jac!
Tomorrow's another day (and another grid to try) Judi. Sleep peacefully.
acckkkk I was trolling right along until I see the ts's, need a break
Judi's twitching her ears again. GO TO BED, woman! LOL
Jac, you need to rent the movie, it has some great lines in it. Fun for adults as well as kids
Cs are done!
go feather!
grammaterri1 - all the ts words have to do with Yiddish trouble & suffering.
I need the co5/12 after the veg on a c** please
BettyAnne - if you want to learn something at college or work, you might go on a cou***. Remove the middle vowel.
co5.12 rhymes with grown up pony without the u
Duh! I tried everything. Thanks lbdawger.
eh, wait a sec, no u in that word! lol i think i need chocolate!
Betty - that leads you to the next word, which is its plural.
Got it. Thanks Jacula.
lbd - it's a very old word for a dead body.
y/w - Betty.
hey jac, how'd you know i just went to look it up?
st 6/24 pls
never mind
lbd - study of Shakespeare, Old English & Latin teaches you a lot of weird words.
babbling teaches a lot of weird words too
True!
As for the words I was just one about, you don't always even know you have them in the 'filing cabinets' of your brain until you see them in a grid.
You just think, THAT'S A WORD. Then, 'What the B/hell does it mean?'
yup, i know what you mean Jac. happens to me more times than i'd like to admit
There you go then, lbd!:)
arggg! sr4/4?
sr+ first person singular of to be
never mind
prism - First word I got in today's grid! (Really! I've been Babbling too long.) sr + exists.
I was looking at the wrong sr's. silly me
hi all. can anyone clue me the ad8?
Anyone willing to help with the ts's? I don't have any of them. Please.
pffffft. i missed the headwear, and actually had to monkey a little before i saw it. time to go get a snack and refuel.
sr4/4 has something to do with Sikh gurus, I believe.
Hi kanga ad 8---uhm there isn't an ad8
kanga - no ad8. ar8, however, is ar4/6 + loch monster.
ts 6/18: ts + mineral plural
BettyAnne - all the ts words have to do with Yiddish trouble and suffering.
well that's a great start! can't even read the grid!
thats' the only ts I've got
LOL, kanga.
thanks lbd and jac
bettyanne, ts+ oo5.10 - the 2nd vowel
Thanks prismmgc2 and Jacula.
t + s 5/10 ache change last vowel to third vowel for other.
HI all ro6/21 please
ts6/18 (2nd) = t +so4/4 (apology sounding word) plural.
ts7/28 is the same but with a double vowel in the middle.
si 6.18???
t+ aches and pains, is the second ts then change the last vowel to another vowel
i''m struggling to understand the points. i just added up a 7 letter NO word and totaled the tile points and came up with 7 points (each tile 1 pt) where does the total of 18 come from?
whoa! this is some fast cluing going on.
Oh, peri. Were you from UK, I would tell you to think of a radio DJ (The Emperor) from the 70's. However, that won't work. I'll think of another way of clueing it.
peri. it's a man's name, start with first three letters from flower word, add abbrev for company and an extra vowel
peri - its a small gun.
these clues are flying so fast i can't keep up... anybody got any rollerblades i can borrow
lbd's clue will most likely work for you. ro7/32 is the plural, btw.
ADHD - not seen roller blades in here yet, but we did used to have a hot tub and food fights.:)
lbdawger--I don't have the 005 Can you help me please?
thanks Jacula, never would have found that one
adhd, the easiest way to understand the points is to read anglesongs babble page linked at the bottom.
for the clues i have got (pant, pant) thanks you
bettyanne, if it were a ee word is would mean scary
SCORING Each tile has a point value. To determine the score for a word, the point-value for the length of the word is multiplied by the total letter values for the word: 4-letter word = 1 x Points 5-letter word = 2 x Points 6-letter word = 3 x Points 7-letter word = 4 x Points 8-letter word = 5 x Points 9-letter word = 6 x Points
si6/18 is an old Egyptian percussion instrument. Your little female sibling +
an ee word...sheesh
so if your 6 letter word is 6 points, mulitply that by 3 to get the 18
There are no 'ee' words today.
um, jac, + what? or am i being particularly slow...
There is an 'oo' word though. LOL
that goes back to my clue for the oo5 Jac.
tra LA LA, kanga. (That's a clue. Don't look for the big letters.)
Thanks lbdawger and all the rest of you for your help.
Sorry, lbd. Left my 'station' for a moment. Lost track.
y/w, BettyAnne.
thank you, jac (a little slow there, battling recalcitrant computer connection)

Here are the lyrics for Clarence Carter's 'Patches. You just have to hear the dirgey lyrics they are set to.
I was born and raised down in Alabama On a farm way back up in the woods I was so ragged folks used to call me Patches Papa used to tease me but he was hurt cus he done all he could My papa was a great old man I can see him with a shovel in his hand See, education he never had But he did wonders when the times got bad The little money from the crops he raised Barely paid the bills we made Oh life had kicked him down to the ground When he tried to get up life would kick him back down One day papa called me to his dyin bed Put his hands on my shoulders And in tears he said Patches, I'm depending on you son To pull the family through My son, it's all left up to you Two days later papa passed away I became a man that day So I told mama I was gonna quit school But she said that was daddy's strictest rule So every morning 'fore I went to school I fed the chickens and I chopped wood too Sometimes I felt that I couldn't go on I wanted to leave and run away from home But I always remembered what my daddy said With tears in his eyes on his dyin bed He said, "Patches, I'm depending on you son I tried to do my best, It's up to you to do the rest

kanga we've had some interesting times in here. Stidmama started telling us stories when the grids were short and we'd all finish early. her story continues but it's on a web page now
bgmadden - That is my most hated song of all time. Sure, I know what it's real meaning is, but it's such a dirge... and what a fuss to make about a cake. It's a real self-pity song. Far worse than anything Leonard Cohen ever did.
there are short grids!!!
anxiously awaiting that sc clue
my most hated song---i can feel it coming in the air tonight
hold onnnnnnn
sc**** is something George Carlin would try to use as one of the many words that can't be said on television.

umm, think i need help on the pigeons... do they sound different in the us?
I will just reiterate... I don't care if the person I am talking to has 2 heads (thought that might throw me a bit at first sight), purple skin with yellow dots. In short - I don't care what race you are. If I connect with you re talking, or meeting, we are friends.
Iwish I had se** BIGGER se's.... :)
So, you gave a clue intended for a particular group in a particular section in a particular country ... must have been in the starts

BabRab - just read back. Did you ask me about clueing for particular groups or races just?
Thanks Jacula I am working on it
majmom, Evan just clued them at 9:09
got it
I did not ask a question
majmom, the se's that is
If so, I do. Not through any sense of racialism though. It's through a sense of tyring to get to know lots of countries, languages and cultures and then trying to clue as best I can to the person asking, so they don't struggle.
Oh, okay Babrab. I was mistaken.
Jac--I really think you're a great cluer and I love your chat in general--but the co 4 is abbr. for that masked animal. co 4 to refer to a dark person is as pejorative as Ni****--so it really goes beyond pc. Sorry--have to get im my 2 cents about this word.
I thought this 9:02 post was directed at me...
BabbleRabble ProfileUnited States So, you gave a clue intended for a particular group in a particular section in a particular country ... must have been in the starts

mirandapan - I take your point and understand. As a former student of English though, I can see no other way to clue it, other than referring to rac****s, which aren't in my back yard in UK.
I apologise if I offended you though., Truly.

word lover, lickety's list, and asking each other here
okay
The second sh 5/12? Please? please? Maybe? :)
lori, i still am not getting that pigeon sound... is there another clue?
Miranda - if my black friends didn't keep calling themselves that at parties I go to, maybe I'd not say that either. Here in UK, it's almost become a term of endearment.
tx u guys
I know you had no intention of offending, Jac--but we've just celebrated MLK, Jr. day here and part of his legacy is that most Americans understand that we do not use such words--among many other gifts he gave us. Cultural/country differences are so interesting, though, as I find out when I try to teach Josef Conrad. Thanks for listening.
clue for the second sh 5/12 and sh 5/14
jac, i think it's a cultural thing then....just like some words you think are swear words, we don't, and vice versa.
sh 5/14 plural of sh 4/6
yeah, touch a fanny in australian and there will be big trouble!
kanga, another word for where chicken are kept, in a ***p, or pen

Congrats majmom! Sleep tight. :)
That and a 'box' here in UK is something else entirely.
Jacula, I find it quite odd that you respond to what nut said acknowledging the remark would be considered racist if said by a KKK. That you are a student of English is irrelevant; as is what call your black friends. No one called you are racist. I think you are being insensitive. You even refer to the word a second time. You, of course, may not agree.
ro 6/18 - what hens do plural
Okay, so, what am I doing...oh yah, trying to finish this grid. focus Lori!

hetty - i'm so jealous of you - did you have a most marvelous time?
so9/54 is the plural od so7/28.
Thanks, Franmag, I hae it now. How abot the ro6/21?
doxy, they are both like the ts7/28, take one O out for the last ts6
change the last vowel of the other ts6/18 for the first one.
Dozylover - I might give you that clue if you tell me if your ever made my stew!
first ro6/18 is the person who performs a ro5/10... if you know what i mean
Well, hello at last, Hetty!
hanging head in shame, no, timidly responding
hetty, ro6/21 is like the sheriff on dukes of hazzard, ro**** p. coltrain
OOps! Meant doXy, not doZy.

lori, do you have the so7/28?
hey lori
jilli did you say more snow tomorrow? And my first day back at the library? HELP!
jacula - every single night, when i go to bed, turn out the light, in less than 2 minutes, just as i'm all relaxy, i start flashing all over - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr & people wonder why i'm such a bitch
Yes Fran, I'm just not cluing in, so to speak
smooth - that shows how much you do not know about middle aged women's busted internal thermostats.
the so9 is the plural of the so7, add two letters
lol jac.
hk, i don't think you're a bitch at all.
hey babble pals!
Duh! Finally got it. I'll be quiet now. Thank ye all.
The temperature of the room has not much to do with it. Even just turning over in bed can trigger the damned hots off for 2 - 4 mins or more!

Hi Ping
G'd evening Ping

i can't believe i just got here, finally figured it all out and it's almost over and i'll never finish w/45 left. oh well
smd, take the chicken word (ro5/10) and change the T to a vowel
then build from there.
can anyone clue the si5?
ADHD, you have 2 hours, you can do it...unless you fall asleep that is.
fran - then you must have actually done something to make the customer happy!
The elusive last word, drum roll please!

So... what was God trying to do to us women when he invented the menopause? Or even childbirth come to that.. what's all that body letting you down stuff. Excuse me, Mr God! We'd like some answers here, please!
hk, i must have
i have the worst luck buying electrical stuff - i bought an under-the-counter flip down tv - when i got it home, turns out someone else had already bought it, broke it & returned it & they put it back on the shelf & also
i'll neverr make it. home sick all week w/bronchitis and didn't sleep at all last nite fromcoughing. i'm drifting off asleeeeeeeeeep

Do you really want a king-size butt Jacula?
oops, the si5 is plural of little si*, just one s in the middle though
oh helen, that's terrible! I hope you complained a lot to the store manager...
for x-mas i wanted a small 13" tv with vcr to have a backup recorder - of course, i open the box, no remote, no aa batteries, & no antenna & when i plugged it in, it wouldn't even turn on manually -that reminds me - i have to write a nasty letter to sears now
thanks fran

Then why wish to be a kangaroo? Their butts are huge-mungous! LOL
It are 12:01 here, and I have yet to slather on Oil of Old Hay. Thanks all for the help, new words for me. Sleep well all!
doxy, sounds like a disease of the liver although spelled quite differently
hi helen... (the stage whisper was in response to your proclamation about Sears)
so9 is the plural
night lori!
thank you both
the so 7 you want is a tropical fruit, starts like feminine fraternity, ends like opposite of "bro"; plural for the 9
But, stid, they have pouches into which the ungrown infant crawls...
g'night Lori!
ah stid - i see, & sears used to be so reliable too :(
that's true, Jacula, still... ;-)
Yes, they have that infant, and one tooo big to fit into the pouch still hhanging in there with its legs sticking out, and another hopping beside.
LOL. That''s my life.
Thx Fran..I must be brain dead...I got the word from the direct clue but my carpenter skills have eluded me. Could you please be more specific for the FO6.18 and the 7. Both are the first ones in the FO.
Sears is where my mother bought all our school clothes growing up. Then the quality declined dramatically in the 80s (and they wondered why people didn't buy their stuff); when I worked for them they treated their employees very badly.
smd, ro6/18 is "one who" ro5/10s
like a male chicken without the T in the middle
then ro7 is the plural of that
Finally Fireworks thanks for all of the help.
oh no, i'm up to the dreaded ts words. any clues for a ts6?
However, stid, they don't have to do though, 'Oh My God I am tearing in half' thing re birth.
yay dr!!
that's right jac, doesn't the baby just crawl out and up into the pouch?
All the TS words are the same thing: yiddish for trouble!
lucky you stid - i always had uniforms all the way through hs - now when i wear the same clothes all the time, jeans & black sweatshirts or t-shirts, i say i have catholic-school-dressing-syndrome!
'roos don't have a bad life. Heck! We in UK still have our kids hanging on to us in there 30s. Do 'roos? I thinnk not!
first ts6 is ts + metal **** that you dig in mines
the TS 7 uses double vowel, ends like opposite of "bro"
HEY - i should apply for a government grant to study that!
thanks fran, thought i'd monkeyed that!
Thx Fram!! I feel soooooo dumb. Need both IS's too please!!
for the second ts6/18, change last vowel to an E
for the ts7/28, double the O
good idea, helen! but don't forget the lutherans... in the city I grew up in, the catholic kids (I was in that school for two years) had plaid, the lutherans polka dots (go figure)
one IS is the Japanese for first immigrant
lol - polka dots are even worse!
smd, i + double consonant + two vowels
hey stid

bye kanga!

Ya'll--is the en 10 related to the en 7/40?
hey stid... yup... 5 Farenheit when I eleft work tonight... supposed to drop to 0... I wish it would stay down there, but it's supposed to warm up to around freezing next week
sc 6/24: a type of soft stone, like mica... sc + h 4/5
yes
yes, miranda, a plural?
Thx Stid...just noticed that i also need is 6.18 I know absolutely no Japanese.
okay--looking...
thx stid
If the temp were bitterly cold like that, stayed like that and the people and plants around here ready for it, I wouldn't mind... but the last week with temps below freezing for the highs were very hard on people in these parts...
IS 6/18 is the plural... IS + first three letters of spanish for six
so7?
so9?
see, it's so much warmer lately than it used to be... we used to get in the -40 range... but those days are long gone
so 7, a tropical fruit: first four letters of feminine "fraternity" + opposite of "bro"
the so 9 is plural of the 7
found it, thanks--strange--sounds like the finish of an old comic book character--along with Veronica and Betty
so7,9 - alternate spelling of a liver disease usually from drinking, and plural
doesn't it though? someone actually clued it like that earlier!
Oh, really? Though I was being original. Oh, well--also showing my age.
Stid - spanish i know thx much. Now if I can get the last OR 6.18 I will be lighting fireworks.
LOL -- I used to read those comics when I was a kid...
the last OR 6 has something to do with bells, I think? OR + vowel + not daughter
(not that you asked specifically...) ;-)
Me, too--and I'm old enough to be your mother, I'm sure. They go waaay back.
or8 please
Actually... pretty close to her age, miranda! LOL
or 8 is plural of the or 6 that looks like a corsage flower

stid - that's nice of you , thanks, but don't worry - i have friends who've been very supportive today - it's just one of those painful milestones
hello -- I'm sooooo tired after a long day!
in the jewish faith you light a candle on the anniversary of a loved one's death and say a special prayer
hk, thinking of you. i visited the website in your profile - "Dr D" was really somebody. His memory should be for a blessing, once the terrible shock fades.
interesting... my dad only ded 5 years ago, but I have no idea what date... it was june or july...
jillibaby!
oh, that's a lovely tradition! Feb 10 will be a candle for my dear funny departed hubby who still bugs me in my dreams
ping - nope, i've seen it because lenny's son (the one who died) & his partner were looking into adopting a child & during the course of our searches, we came upon theothermother site - i remember that, cause his brothers (twins) when they were very little, used to tell their mom that they had annudder mudder who lived in the alley & i remember commenting on how someone already took that name for a web site -LOL - small world!!!

ROFL Jill! the things you remember!

i'm not so well-read. on a jocular note: my rump fell down years ago - actually it disappeared & reapperaed in front {scowl}
sis is sleepy - she was having some bleeding issues and low o2 sats earlier, so hopefully sleeping now. My nephew is here and he and crackers are sleeping - in my bed, no less.
he's better. went to school today, no pain... had to put my foot down so he wouldn't play his trumpet yet, we'll let him try tomorrow...

good nite melon :)
good nite ping :)
'nite, hk, 'nite Ping {poof}
I need EN 8/40; OR 8/50; SO 7/28; SO 9/54
hi joy, this was a hard one, YES!
yes, lots of very strange words
en 8/40 is the plural of the preceding 6/18
my boss caught me playing babble today, but he didn't say anything...oops...maybe I should try and addict him, too.
OR 8 is plural of the or 6 that resembles word for flower...
so 7: first four letters of female "fraternity" + opposite of "bro"
then plural for the 9....
oh-oh joy -- that would make me very nervous... fortunately, I don't work for other people!
Fireworks! Thanks, stid!
wd joy !
heh... joy, my boss is the one who got me hooked. lol
yes, it wasn't good, but my boss spends hours talking about sports with this other guy, so I guess he can't really complain
lol, pappa
YAY Joy!
Oh JOY, Joy!!!
okay, I am heading out for real. It's late for me. see you-all tomorrow!
night, stid, and thanx again!
