Flosey, Mohammed was reputedly so fond of cats, he cut off his sleeve once rather than disturb a cat sleeping on it. There's a cat in your icon, that will have to suffice. Heya, Nan!

Jilli, did you ever live in a time/place where men were still wearing puttees? (my phantom today)
phantom scrawny
My dad wore puttees in WW1
He wore spats afterwards too!
Ah! Well, tell me then, how did they get them on? And how did they stop them from scooting up their legs? And what was the point, exactly? Just cosmetic?
A word used in the presence of the Supremes...
Good clue, Douglas.
I think puttees were wrapped around and around the lower part of the leg like an Ace bandage, then tucked in at the top.
I'm guessing leech prevention
thanks Ankh
what is a phantom?
REALLY! What an aggravation that must have been, to get the folds just so? Yeah, Lynxxx, that sounds reasonable.
I really don't know. Google?
ADHD, nice to meetcha. It's a word your brain keeps INSISTING is in the grid, but it isn't.
can't keep my eyes open, later babblers!
Bye O2

hello lizmac:)

hi liz
got to go, breakfast calls! bbl
later mva!
later MVA
bye MVA
almost kakorrhaphiophobia (which I experience at the beginning of grids)
bye MVA:)
which would be a K word... *shudders* Hi BabbleRabble
that word is scary enough to be the cause of a phobia itself.
hi babrab
Hello
Hi BabbleR!
hello babblerabble:)
I usually get a sense of that kakorr thing at 2/3 of the grid, when I know for certain that there cannot be many more words and still the total says there should be.
of 4,9 please
ugh, 5 left and i can't for the life of me see them.
o + King Kong's honey
merk, it's a racial slur, o + f** wr** (of king kong)
so BabbleR - what is the definition of the K ridiculously-long -word
hi une!
being very scared you won't succeed, I think
hey, fran--3:00 am and both dogs insisted they had to go pee so here I am!
Hello Unea
hey, lynxxx :-)
Kakorrhaphiophobia means "fear of failure" or "fear of defeat".
i guess we know who the boss is. :-)
wouldn't it be great to find that in a grid?
hey, I knew that :D
it would almost make me like K grids
wtg sprite!
makes me wonder of the utility of the word when the definition is shorter than the word itself
though my def probably sounded kinda childish, lol
and think what the point score would be!
hubby is home from a wedding expo, going to take another break. maybe the last 5 will pop out when i get back.
true BabbleRabble!
Utility of the word - or perhaps futility of the word !
F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S
wtg ruthy
Congrats Ruthy
Well done, ruthy!
congratulations ruthy:)

Mornin' FranMag, Sprite, lynxxx, jean, BabRab, and anyone I missed!

Good day, Odin
Hi Odin

Mornin' Miss Haz
Mornin' Uneaixoise
hey, odin
Hello to jean and Odin - I take it the grid is challenging with all those late alphabet letters.
well, the first 75 have been pretty easy
Just started myself but what's up with the WYA's?
It takes a minute or two for the combinations to start appearing, but if Une says it's easy.....
i promise!
okay, i just had some nachos and i'm recharged and ready to find those last 5!
Of course, Une, you've always got the get out clause, the first 75 were easy!
:-D
LOL Haz...
lol
i like how you've pimped your icon odin!
Thanks Fran...South Florida representing!
:-) it would fit as a Hawaii icon also, very beachy
ok, haz, now I'll say the first 85 are easy! And I'm off--BBL to finish--happy babbling!
later une!
bye une:)
Have a good day, uneaixoise.
My shepherd digs the beach. Took him last week as we have had no winter and boy do the tourists love it!
Later une
the dog across the street from us surfs.
his name is Nalu which means "wave" in Hawaiian
We have a few locally here that do also. It is great to watch them.
he's a lhasa apso, quite a character.
hey haz, the first 112 weren't too bad either. last 5 are really hiding.
I'm finding it quite nice so far, some nice babble words that have appeared in the past.
yes, that's what i've found too.
Your last 5 are obviously playing hard to get.

Bye iesha, congratulations on the fireworks.

there must be more babblers per capita in Wales than anywhere else in the world.
that took some gumption to pick up and move to hawaii fran - good for you and your guts!
i've been there 8 times and i could move there in an instant...but hard to make a living in hawaii from what i hear
well, i moved here from Guam, it wasn't a huge step! also met a guy on-line from here, moved here to marry him.
I think that there is a network of friends and family who got each other addicted (in Wales). I refuse to share the addiction with my family in case I can't get to use the computer!
good thinking haz
i could really use a clue for the et 4 - it's prolly so easy that I'll wack myself in the head.
OMG you are kidding Fran! wow that's a great story
Morning all Grids not to bad today (so far)!
babbz, it's a babblet, et + two vowels, it's a needlecase common in crossword puzzles
hi FMitch!
Good morning FMitch! Well rested?
Mornin' FMitch
okay, those last 5 are not showing themselves, getting the list.
too bad "tuesday" is not acceptable.. was fun to find that one. Hi all!!
Morning Fran, Odin and Hello Haz, not too bad thanks

Hey Aloy you're not usually around that this time!

Well done Franmag! I knew those five would be found eventually!
those last 5 weren't dumb ones, i just wasn't thinking straight.
Congrats Fran!
haz, you should have no trouble, everything is either a real word or has been in the grids before.
Hi All - just read Fran that you moved to Hawaii to marry someone you met on line - i got my gorgeous (or at least i think s0) from a lonely hearts column in a freebie paper - it was great - met and married within 18 months
haven't seen the needle case for a while..
Thanks for the encouragement/challenge, FranMag. I'll have to see how well the memory can work.
that's cool kazzer! it seems like the way to go these days and not so different from the old days.
congrats franmag!!
i want rezip
yeah - I had tried all the usual going to clubs pubs etc and it just didnt work but also it was quite safe because when you first met someone if they walked in and you thought yeuch than you could just walk away - only had to meet 3 or 4 strange men before I met him
Gil and I got married 12 months after our first meeting on-line. We met in person after 6 months.
Thats good and i itnk you are so lucky living there. One day if I win the lotto I might make it
same here kazzer, met a couple weirdos on-line, but with Gil it was just nice from the beginning.
it is a nice place to live, very expensive though. we manage with my husband's job and a couple of businesses we run.
okay, it's after midnight, going to do sudoku and get to bed.
Later Fran
night everyone! and thanks for all cheering.
Sleep well, when you go to bed, FranMag.

KatieW..heading your way later this week, unfortunately for a funeral
Yes, it is - don't rely on my definitions being accurate, sometimes it's to indicate the word structure as much as anything.

Short tempered Button
beg your pardon?
Okay, try extending ra4/4, button
button, I thought that was a ra 5.14 way to treat someone when the door was slammed in his face
No Aloy got the pu 6/36 now i got the ys as well - didnt try enough options
Sugar - finding the last 30 or so a trifle difficult
thanks, sugar

hi Odin, I see our favourite z,s are back again.....
Yeah sug they are. I just got Fireworks on the last z...\
WTG Odin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oooo odin what is the first ze please
TY
Love you icon sugar - what is it?
z + double vowel + pl
Don't know, Kazzer, picked him cos he's cute
can someone clue me for the sc 6 PLEASE?
tx Odin, z's greyed out now!
he is certainly that
Z's are actually real words today...ze 4/9 4/9 5/24 and 4/9
sc 5/12 add the y
sc 6 ?
ty odin - i have been looking at that since i started and kept thinking it doesn't fit - even when I put it in it took me a wee while to see how it fitted
yeah Odin, but the y's are a bit suspect!!!!!
thanks odin
My pleasure
Y's are always suspect sug. I am amazed at the number of words that end with a double consonant and y
I looked up the y word and it derived from old scottish for a gate
they look like slang for the shaggy beasts from the mountains LOL!
Yekh Kazzer...I tweaked it on a chance and would never have known its derivative.
thank goodness the monkeys are are the ball today!
or space creatures from a movie as I remember
I think the w words - the ist column ones were weird as well
most of the wy's have been in before and I remembered them
I've only got wy4/10, any clues on the other 2?
I really have a hard time fixing to memory some of the unusual words...getting better at it but if they are out of sight for a while they are out of mind.
nm got em!
I hear you Odin, there are some strange babble words!!!!
If we had to find room in the brain for those, where would we put the ones we need to communicate every day?
Well, I am out of here until tomorrow...good chatting with everyone.
bye Odin, see ya
Later sug, Kazzer and all
Bye din had to pop off for a quick phone call
you can pluralise wy 4/10
sugar - have you got the 2 was
the second wy4/10 can be pluralised

thanks KAZ
se 6 please

oops!
not that one button! LOL
morning all! I learned (many years ago) that a tw4 was a pregnant fish - although it was used as a swear word
hi con, how you doing?
oh i didnt know that ty con
Sugar, do you have the se 6?
I'm ok thanks sugar! surviving hefty storms over here!
button, se 6 is an ext of se 5/20, meaning to grab
lots of wind here, con, but not as bad as up north
a friend of mine is flying from A'dam to Newcastle today - hope she'll be ok.
ty sugar for good clue
well, hopefully the captain won't take off unless it's safe!
yw Kazzer, I'm still missing a w from the top row.....
indeed! and up there no trees can fall on you!
I asume you have the engergy unit ones extract one of the double consonents and leave as plural
Button, did you get the se/6 yet?
sugar, if you have the two that sounds like a color, remogve the cross lettr.
true, con, true ! lol
remove the cross letter I mean. (from the plural)
got that one Kazzer, need one more from the top
oops, i'm looking at the wrong w, sry
a light bulb 60 wa**, remove the cross letter from the plural.
I'm thinking it maybe a wr?

Con a greek letter what you call lemon skin and plursl of last letter
There's a ze4/9 and 5/24.Part of the fruit that you use in cooking. The 5 is the adjective. It also means energetic and lively
hi hydra, were you lurking or did I miss you earlier?
hi Hydra
thanks hydra - got the 5!

Good morning Babblers. Another small grid--are there lots of strange words? Yesterday's grid had some odd ones!
Hey there Scrabbler
Well, I've galloped through the grid finding words easily but I've slowed down now there are only 16 left to find.
Hi Scrabbler.
What is Paul doing to your cat, Jacula?
Ooooo, looks like ca** is in the grid.
Scrabbler - that was the night after the big storm. He was bathing him, as he came in almost completely covered in wet mud. Think he fell, or got blown, into a pond or something.:(
Aw, poor baby!
morning all...anyone have a clue for the pu6?
pu6 is plural of the pu4/11 Yiddish for fool or idiot
thx peri
TY Peri

re5/10 - add a consonant to the end of the re4.
scrabbler - stick a t on the end

stuck with 31 words to find bbl
stuck with 31 words to find bbl
12 here. Determined not to use a list, having got this far.
I am slowing down, with 68 left.
Go Jacula!!!
Here's a tale of computer stupidity...... While visiting a network user's office to install a small program (we use Windows NT 4.0 here), he asked: * Him: "Can you answer a question?" * Me: "Sure." * Him: "See the recycle bin? Does someone come round and empty it?"
ROFLOL, mm.
LOL!!!!!
Hello, all. Thought I'd take a peek...
Hi pam. It's a nice grid.
Hi Pam!
hi, jac and scrabbler. Seems like a nice grid, but I like unwinding to the grid at night, so I don't want to get too caught up this morning, LOL
MM - just told Paul your story. It tickled him!
I found that gag on a site called "Computer Stupidities", address - http://www.rinkworks.com/stupid/
did paul have a good birthday, jac?
I feel the same way, Pam--ambivalence between wanting to finish, yet wanting to do something mindless.
yep, scrabbler...
pam - He spend most of it at work. We'll have a nice steak meal tonight.
hello everyone!
hi, mrp!
Speaking of getting on with the business of the day, I'd better do just that. A break from the grid will probably help me find those last dozen words. BBL, after grocery shopping etc.
jac--that sounds nice...
Hi & 'bye, Mr.P.x
want to start, but am mindlessly watching the tennis
see ya jac. xxx
hey mr p
bye, jac, hi shorty

Here's another: * Tech Support: "Sir, Click Start, then Run, and type the letters C, M, and D." * Customer: "Wait a minute, don't run off the end of the earth away from me now. I can only go so fast with this thing." * Tech Support: "Sorry, sir. Did you click Start?" * Customer: "Where is that start button? Oh, here is is. Now what?" * Tech Support: "Um, did you click it?" * Customer: "Dammit, no, do that now?" * Tech Support: "Yes, then click on the word Run." * Customer: "Dammit, slow down!!! Run, run, run, where the hell is run?" * Tech Support: "Should be a the very bottom of the Start Menu that came up on the screen." * Customer: "I already clicked Start. Click it again?" * Tech Support: "No, it should be there in the lower left corner." * Customer: "Hey, I found the word Run. You want that instead?" * Tech Support: "Sure, why not? We'll see if that works. Did you click it?" * Customer: "Yes." * Tech Support: "Ok, type the letters C, M, and then D." * Customer: "Slow down, dammit!! I'm not a programmer!!! I told you I'm only a car dealer!!" * Tech Support: "Sorry, again, sir, what do you have there?" * Customer: "Z." * Tech Support: "No, we need 'C' like 'Charlie.'" * Customer: "C-H-A-R--" * Tech Support: "Not the whole word 'Charlie,' sir, just the 'C,' please." * Customer: "If you don't want a Charlie, why tell me to type it?" * Tech Support: "Um, what's in the box now?" * Customer: "I'm trying to find the eraser here." * Tech Support: "Just hit the backspace key." * Customer: "That just moves it further to the right without typing anything." * Tech Support: "Which backspace key did you press?" * Customer: "The long one in the middle. I pressed it on the back side." Eventually, we "found" the correct backspace key and got that Z replaced with a C. * Tech Support: "Now that we just have a 'C' there, type an 'M,' like 'Mary,' but just the 'M,' ok?" * Customer. "M-O-K." * Tech Support: "Remember that backspace key?" * Customer: "Yes." * Tech Support: "Press it twice." * Customer: "All right, but it took off the 'O' and 'K' you wanted." * Tech Support: "Never mind that, I'll live. Now type a 'D,' just the letter D." * Customer: "D. Now what?" * Tech Support: "Now press the enter key." * Customer: "E-N-T-E-R." * Tech Support: "Is there anyone else around the lot that is maybe a little more familiar with computers than you are?" * Customer: "Well, my wife uses one at her work and might be a little more familiar. She comes in in an hour. You want to talk to her?" * Tech Support: "Yes, please."

You can also spell it oy4/11.

Is that "The Case of the Missing Tuesdays" or is that, "Someone complain to shipping. We've lost a whole case of Tuesdays!"
G'd morning Babblers!
mom, your cat looks suspicious, he ate tuesday
tu5/12 - one who gets personal instruction
i always say tuesday is an underrated monday anyway
lol annie!
he always looks suspicious, and I suspect it's with good reason!
lol...ty vicua
vicuna that is
When I was in elementary school tuesday was early let-out day... And I've been fond of it ever since!
now you can skip it altogether vicuna!
So it has been solved, Vicuna has Tuesday!
tuesday, you still have to get up, you only just got over monday, you have to go back, and it's not even halfway through the week.
BWAAH ha ha ha! I have your Tuesdays and I won't give them back until you give me... ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
May I have a word total please?

G'd morning SMiley

even if it has one meaing as a pregnant fish, it will also be offensive to some people for its other meaning
yeppers vic, else i've been called a pregnat fish a time or two in my life
lol evano!
lol eva. First off I found this! 'In Australia, a male is a twit and a female is a tw/4
i can crassly imagine where the correlation came from
Very true, Gwen, but neither of my dictionaries says anything about fish. Not fair, as usual! I'd rather be called a twit any day.
now I'm going hunting for my ooooold school dictionary. I MUST know brb
they do say there are 15 animals in a pair of panty hose . . .
well now i think of it, when i call someone a twit, it's cause i think they're rather thick, which would be fitting.
vicuna, dictionaries are written by humans who are fallible. they often ignore regionalisms and "dirty" words
Fireworks. Can I help anyone before I go do errands?
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Strider!!
congrats strider
Congrats Strider!
Thks Book Doctor. I am also a used book dealer in NH. What a business!!!!

tw4 has fallen out of my school dictionary and has gone missing along with tuesday
Computer Stupidity: I received a call from a friend who was fairly new to computing. He had bought a new game and was trying to install it on his PC, but the installation failed for some reason. So I asked what instructions he had, and he seemed to have some written installation notes, so I decided to talk him through the installation. Step one, copy all files to c:\windows\fonts. * Me: "Ok. Next step?" * My Friend: "That is it." * Me: "Huh? It doesn't say anything else?" * My Friend: "No." * Me: "... What is this game called?" * My Friend: "Fonts." * Me: "Fonts?" * My Friend: "Yeah, and every file is all the letters of the alphabet." * Me: "'Fonts' is not a game." * My Friend: "What is it, then?" After I explained what fonts were, he was less than happy at having spent $20 on something that was not a game. He didn't even have a word processor package on his computer at that time.
Later evan.
bye nut, hello featherbee
V what is the picture?
at least according to google
movieman, my condolences to your friend on the loss of his brain LOL
Aha! So a pregnant goldfish is an Australian man, and an Australian woman is just a ... tw4.

i for one have spent more hows enjoying fonts that computer games!
Cherrypop, you asking me? My icon is just a leftover clue from yesterday's grid. It's a clue for "ramose" and is a mushroom cap with cracks all over.

Anyway... must get on... clues before I go?

* Tech Support: "Ok, can you see the arrow in the middle of the screen?" * Customer: "Yes." * Tech Support: "Good! Now trying moving the mouse around. Do you see the arrow moving?" * Customer: "No." * Tech Support: "Not even a little?" * Customer: "No, not at all." I spent several minutes having the user follow the cable from the the mouse to the back of the PC. It was plugged in all the way. * Tech Support: "Ok, try moving it again. Up, down, left, right -- anything?" * Customer: "Nope, still nothing." * Tech Support: "Hmmm, maybe the table is too slippery -- why don't you try rolling the mouse on a book or a piece of paper?" * Customer: "Oh!! On the table!"

It was underneath before, but it looks better when it's on top." * Tech Support: "Ok, try turning it around so the light points down on the desk." * Customer: "Oh! It works!"

it's a circle of cluing
Thanks, William. I was not asking for z4's, I was in fact cluing you on two other z4's!
lol this is too funny
But if you're giving back what you've got, then you have discovered the True Meaning of Babble!
when i die don't want no coffin, thought about it all to often, just strap me in behind the wheel and bury me in my automobile...
oops typo.
But you can't get to Heaven in an automobile!
or on roller skates...
Or the end of a kite...
Or a washing machine...
and you can't roller skate in a buffalo herd
Or, to switch gears, as it were, "Oh lord, won't you buy me a mercedes benz..."
Why's that, BabbleR?
but everybody's got a water buffalo...
FA 5/22 anyone? 11 to go

ren, i'm doing it without the list for the first time in a long time
down to 17
oh duh sry blood
:)
better get cracking then
just write what u just said the RE** feather
RE's
re + second vowel + curved letter
well in keeping with my overall philosophy of traveling light, i only took one pair, the shoes i wore for the whole trip....black ecco cross
jeff, the first re sounds just like "re's"
R + dble 2nd vowel + plural
then add the cross ltr
what adhd? you lost me. were you cluing me?
yes
ty for both
for the RE's
chj- ?? what is that? sneaker, loafer? pumps? hahahaha
R + double second vowel then plural it
next RE add the cross ltr to the first RE
i think we got wires crossed...i don't need clues at the moment! thanks though!
having trouble with the o's have the 4/14 & 4/11. thanks
ecco's are danish shoes...comfy....like mephisto or clark
oh i thought u asked for the RE's
sry
gotta run - going to drive around and find some BBQ for lunch
ecco's r the best most comfy
them and dansko's
sry angela... no help on the bbq
Bye Angela! catch you later!
no problem - I'm sure we'll find something :)
lol, nope. i did start my comment directed at ren though...maybe that's where the confusion started!
Bye Chicalicious :D
chj, mmmm danishes. shoes for when you gotta eat and run
mmmmmmmmm...cow and pig....mmmmmmm
lol smaller
no the confusion lives in my ADD brain. taking bronchitis meds and can't mix t he add meds w/it
with the ADD drugs, my brain cataracts are gone
aww, hope you feel better soon then!
chj, ok i'll look that up too. i'm embracing my goal to be chj jr on this trip
i always used NoBrainCataracts as a player name, but i got tired of explaining it

(elton john)
hi... just here for a little bit, good, cause it's a little grid
i'll race ya if you want stid....when you get to 25 tell me and i'll get the list out and start entering what i have, then wait for you
okay... i haven't left yet... cuz i just discovered the rankings star up there... if a pink icon is female and a blue icon is male, is the grey one a hermaphrodite?
okay feather....
how's the grid look today?
grid's good
easy peasy
gray is someone who thinks it's unimportant -- or who doesn't like "pepto pink"
cool
like you, stid?
I would prefer green, but we don't get that choice
oillve green icons are pirates
but how do you do it stid? I doon't see any choice other than male or female, and I don't like pepto pink even tho i have it.
or transexual?? or gender-confused?
it would be cool if we could pick our own colours..from say, a list
{{{{Rennie}}}}}}}}}}}
don't choose, Dorens!
i wanna be grey
ADHD -- you are out of line.
chic!!!!
here's a helpful tip for the vatican if they still do it.....to get from st peteres to the vatican museum (and the sistine chapel) you have to walk all the way around the outer wall of the vatican to the museum 15-10 minutes and then usu wait on line to get in....but in 1997 there was an information office on the left side of st peters square and a large tour bus would come every hour or so which cost a $1 or 2...it would enter the Vatican grounds and drive you to a side entrance of the museum where you could enter without waiting on line....and you got to see the Vatican grounds which you otherwise cant enter
aha... i just figured it out thanks
arrrrrgh ren! how arrrrre ya?
How goes thebatle, Ren? How's Mez?

stid.. you have your yiddish dictionary yet?
ze4,9 = Greek letter
Doren, I meant, we are nu4, but we are nice friends too.
I found one online the other day, and Angelsong added it to her resources! It's actually a glossary, but has a lot of the yiddish words I recognize from here. (she also has some other amazing resources!)
ze4/9 - married to Michael Douglas
easier clues: i'm a beginner and not very good yet
feather -- have you asked angelsong to add your blog to the list of us babble-bloggers?
nope, didn't realize she had a list! been a while since i've been to her site
Doren, I am sending peace and comfort to you today. We are in the same place.

Oh sorry William...you never ask a lady her age but I will tell you I am a grandmother and I live in Tennessee.
Sorry I missed that question before.
How old are you William? But don't tell me where you live. I don't think it is a good idea for young people to give their real names, ages and addresses or phone #'s over the internet. Too many mean people in the world.

Hello Tea
Hi Tea - what sort of repairs are you doing?
hi tea
and fireworks!!!
Our heater is not working right so we had someone out to clean the ducts on Thurs. They got their machine stuck in the ducts and we had to cut a hole in the bathroom ceiling to get it out. I hate the texture ont he ceiling, so I convinced hubby to take the whole ceiling down, so we have to replace a piece of duct work and then the ceiling - joy of joys!
yay, MVA!
yahoo, congrats mva
Must go and finish the meal and eat same. Probably bbl Congrats MVA!
wow, that was a long post, sorry!
wow, good luck to you, tea
Hi TnC. How are the babies?
the twins are home with their mama. they are a little jaundiced, but her milk came in today, so that should help!
thanks for asking, Minski!
HI everyone.
2 year old pooped sometime during the night so she removed her diaper and tossed it out of her crib onto the floor then put her pjs back on and went back to sleep. Wonderful mess greeted us at 6:30 this morning when she woke up.
hello peri
hi peri
wow, Minski! I am fortunate (knock wood) that neither of mine are/were interested in taking their dipes off.
Hi, peri!
oooh poor you minski!
oh man, minski---I DON'T miss those days, lol
SE5/20 & SE6/33?
Maybe she's almost ready for potty training.
My sister used to put her son's dipe on backwards to prevent poo painting.
His nickname for a long time was poocasso.
grasp the day, minski
I have been having pain in my right arm near my shoulder. I have all the symptoms of a rotator cuff injury and I know that it was either caused by or aggravated by hunching over the computer playing babble :(. I found some exercies to do when I did a web search. So I will probably not be on as much as I would like. :(
to grab, and the one who does so
se5 & 6 to grab and the person who grabs
poor peri! take care of yourself!
sorry to hear the peri
THanks mva & scarydeb.
poor peri
I really need to buy an ergonomically correct desk and chair but do not have the money for that now. I would like to finish this game but will try not to stay to long at the computer.
peri have you seen a doctor? they can write you a prescription for physical therapy for your shoulder.
NO not yet Minski, My currrent prescription plan does not cover much but this will change next month.
plus the PT can give you exercises to do at home, to save on money.
I have only had the problem for about 1 and 1/2 weeks but it is interfering with my activities of daily living.
thanks for the suggestions and concern. will keep you posted.
also have you tried icing it?
no MInski, but heat seems to make it feel better
wlll try the ice though
Morning everyone.
hey lynxxx
you especially want to use heat before you do any exercises/movement and then ice afterward. At least, that is how we always did it when I had PT after my ankle surgery. The PT did that for everyone.
Heat to loosen it up and then ice to prevent swelling after.
If I do not chat as much you will know why
hi lynxxx
thanks Tea
yw

hi everyone. Angb, i think it also depends on the time of day. Some of the early risers are rather sticklish (is that a word?) about cluing.

Jeff, both are related to whale
HI ollag, Wow that is great news. She thought she would be in the hospital for 2 weeks.

hi everyone
i can help clue for a little bit, if anyone needs help. Hi HK!
any y word clues?
hey lbd - hopefully, don't need ay clues yet - just started!
hi hellenkeller
hi everyone!
hi hk!
jbp, HK just used one of the y's add another cross letter then plural
Hi Frannie
hi jbp hi fran
lbdawger --awesome
thanlks!
hi lbd! your grandson and my daughter would definitely make a cute pair!
i'm procrastinating getting our taxes organized, so any distraction is accepted!
my 2 phantom words are yeti and awry....
tx lbd !
fran - i saw your daughter getting her hair cut the other day - what a little cutie !
don't remind me lbd! i was really bad at keeping track of stuff this year.
thanks fran, that would be fun to have all the babble littles meet and have a play date
lbd - you have my permission to procratinate until april :)
the only a word I have is what someone in a movie or on stage does... any a word clues?
thanks hk! she's cute most of the time, but very bossy.
jbp, change the last letter of that one to a vowel
oh, and the semicircle one
fran - does she get the bossy from mom or from dad?
ac 4/5 - take what the someone does on stage and add the first vowel
i think i have most of it together, it's setting up my spreadsheet and then putting in the info. the more organized i am the happier the accountant is.
lol, a little of both, that's why she's super bossy!
thanks grace!
now i just need the a in the upper right...
ay 4/6 - you count the ay** and the nays
thanks grace
at= the aroma of roses
lol fran
atsmell?
a in upper right - you are ** home + blacky sticky substance
lol jbp
lbd - i just gather my receipts, catagorize them & hand them over to 'my guy' - who comes to my home! $175!
thanks grace!
hey, i'm here to amuse --if not others then at least myself. ;-)
i have to remind Gil that i'm not one of his employees, but i'm just as bad, one of MY friends actually warned him about me before we got married. wanted to make sure i didn't walk all over him.
helenK...you make it sound so simple.
i only pay $85 and go to his place
are you self-employed hk?
jbp - i like to keep it simple - for myself - otherwise i would go INSANE!
how about the e in the 2nd from bottom row?
yeah, anythign with numbers makes me nutsy
hi all - silly question - why will it not except day of week?
the worst part is getting hubby to give me all his receipts. he's much better about keeping them in one place, just not very organized
jbp, es5/12, es***got (snails)
sammy, days of the week are capitalized
es+ black bird
fran - have been unemployed since my hip-replacement, but i have rental property so i have to keep lots of receipts - my thing is i just throw them in a bag all year & then take one day to separate them into their 'piles', add & hand it over to barry
problem solved then - thanks franmag
last E from that one is et4/5, needlecase
that sounds like a great system hk! :-) i just wish all our stuff was in one place.
you guys rock
thanks, fran!
yw jbp
need one z ...have the letters, and picquant-ness
do you have the greek letter?
fran - LOL - it actually took me years to perfect my silly, simple, little 'system'
jbp, you either need to add a letter or remove a letter from your picquant word
lb, like catherine jones.
thanks!
yup
ra 5/14 please
but - ues, you must train yourself to keep everything in one place - i found that was the key - if i expect too much of myself throughout the whole year, it just doesn't happen & the beauty thing about this system is that you can actually train men to do it too!!! i know, i have - & if lenny can do it, then any man can do it.
TU 5/12 please
big red, ra5/14 is adj form of a rodent

i'm very lucky to be near my dad and sister geographically, now, so we're all having brunch together tomorrow
because, you know, food is lovew
i do believe, however, that it gets better in time...Not good, but a little less sharp. However, it can just come up and whomp you upside the head sometimes, I get a real ache for my father (closest relative by far) although it's been four years sometimes without any warning
where are you in Chicago -neighborhood wise... you could always hit andersonville for some great swedish pancakes at anne sathers
jbp - i just looked at your profile - then your mom died in 87?
no, 97
jbp -too funny, when i was in grad school i lived on winona (1 block south of foster) bet clark & broadway - but that was way before they had the 2nd ann sathers, lol
i don't know chicago or ann sathers, but i do know swedish pancakes and they sure do make one terrific comfort food
(how come comfort foods all have to be fattening?)
jbp - yeah right, sorry about that - what i was thinking was we were both the same age (29) when we lost our moms - that's way too young!
love it. i used to live out in the western part of IL, and visited my best friend who now lives on Catalpa
IKEA has a really good gravlax platter, too
and of course, I LOVE the Corner Bakery's raisin pecan bread

i have to believe HK, that she knows.
and on that note, I'm outta here and looking to graze
have a good night, all
jbp - i know, we used to drive out to galena in the fall for the colors & i used to live in southern ill, now there's some beautiful hills, rock formations, & shawnee nat'l forest, where i lived

Hi Joy! Yay for fireworks.
Aren't they going to pick you up, Kate? You have to lug all that baggage yourself? And pay for a taxi? Yikes.
where are the daily icons listed?
hey everyone... HI KATE! :-D
joy- there are links on Lickety's list and Angelsong's list to the icon themes. Or, see Babbler's profile. (Add her as a friend to see her profile when she's offline)

Hi there, I need some help with the wy's. My dictionary only contains one of them.
well, smdnjv, I would suggest refraining from typing the actual word.
Will do gwen!
Which clues do you need mom??
2nd Wy sounds like the opposite of black.
Third is plural of opposite of black...sounds like opposite of black.
I only have the one that is Y-like.
Good clue, SMDNJV!
Got em, thanks!
THanks Gwen...I was just reading your profile...I am very proud of your son in AF...my oldest enlisted and worked on helicopters at Eglin.
I should remember, but which state is Eglin in?
It breaks my heart to tell you though that he was killed in a motorcycle accident. Eglin in Ft. Walton Beach FL.
Oh! So sorry to hear that.
He was about to re-enlist at the time of the accident.
My son rides a motorcycle, too.
Thx Gwen...I am so proud of our men and women serving in the Armed Forces.
Oh sorry Gwen....I did not tell you that to frighten you!!
No problem. If we lived life frightened all the time, we wouldn't be living at all!
How very true!!
How long ago was the accident, if I may ask?
in 1995. Time supposedly heals...but I still silently light a candle at his chair at the table during Christmas, Thanksgiving and July 12th..his birthday.
how sad
Thanks for sharing that.
thanks for listening! It helps to talk about it sometimes.
Well, this is a GREAT place to find folks to talk to and listen! I'm just not on nearly as much as I'd like to be.
I usually do not chat...just "listen" to others while they chat. There are some very humorous conversations taking place here!!
Yes, sometimes it's great fun just to "listen"!
yes I am more a listener, eveyone is so real on this chat
I love the chat as much as babble
But it does seem somewhat quiet tonight.
I too Andree...Hurshey was a blast last night...I can't remember who she was reciting with but I think she knew the entire script of the movie verbatim!!
Too quiet!!
How 'bout a clue, then? I can't find the at5/10.
WHAT???
Tuesday is not a word???

LOL Thanks Stid!!
thanks, stid.......i am trying......
so much for watching the chatter while I knit!
the chatlog is unusually quiet tonight
it is indeed...
I wonder if it's because we're all finished?
Stid..I love to Crochet..I could never quite get the hang of knitting. I envy you.
I wish I could say I was.
finished? Not I, LOLOL
are there any clues for the two Ys in the 2nd column?
I like to crochet too -- but I can't watch TV or the chat when I am doing intricate things, so I knit...
spec: it's a double consonant for the 4, then plural
as long as it's something simple... I can't count and think at the same time, you know!
duh... now I feel brilliant... thank you muchly
last crochet project I did, I developed something called "trigger finger." I know a few people who could have indulged in some schadenfraude if they knew of my pain!! LOLOL
oh -- I have done that! throwing my finger out to position the thread, over and over and over... I used to do it when I knit also, then a friend from overseas showed me how she was taught and I adapted my crooked fingers enough that now it doesn't hurt any more.
lol, smd.....
I have two granddaughters living with me that I love to crochet sweaters, hats and afghans for. the girls are a great pleasure after raising all boys.
I am getting better at both those activities, but wish I had the stick-to-it-iveness to finish some of the pretty little embroidery things.
I have made it to 70 and will call it a night.
Good night all and I'll see everyone tomorrow
oh how wonderful! I have two boys, no girls. my sister in law has a little girl and a new boy, but they're so far away.
Good night, Mom! See you tomorrow!
you bet! Have to feed this addiction :)
hi, sm
i was told by several who had suffered the same thing and they told me that it would take surgery to correct. I went to WalMart and bought a splint came home and rolled my finger out with a glass and Voila.....no surgery for me....had to wear the splint a few days though..
Hi William you are back from the party!!
yep it was awesome
How awesome was it??
very
Was your brother younger or older than you??

Oh!! I am so glad you had fun. Do you want to find more words??

es 5/12 is not hard: es + the large black bird that is a cr 4
oops. sorry william, that's the es 6!
you're right it's not hard, been looking at it all day!
the es 5 is es + what people drive on the road...
smd, i just wanted to say you've been extremely nice to william in guiding him through the grid. thank you for taking him under your wing!
hi feather! Assuming you finished... YAY!
yep! about 5 minutes after you left

what letters do you need clues for?

anything besides w's, n's, z's
fa5,22
hmm, now that you mention it, the cold is better! i'm just stir crazy. was told to take it easy by the midwife for a little bit, till our next appt.

yep
then Cr.y is CR + 1st vowel and then the letter that looks like a double v...vv.
have u finished the puzzle, sm
my first waited until just before his first birthday to take a few steps. The second got up and walked around 9 months... *sigh* I got him a lease, early on!

good!! Do you have the blackbird.
yes
Wow you are good!! do you have the er's?
maybe ... just know that whatever was "just right" for Daniel (once you figured it out) might be different for the next one! My older kids never put anything in their mouths, or climbed much... I got REALLY lucky!
ET's??
yep, i know! well, i hope this one won't like to mouth things as much as daniel still does. "No mouth!" has been a common phrase around here, even still.

hey aknitter, not only retirede RN but also a fanatic knitter, make lots of preemie caps for cancer kids at CHOP
I'm still working listless but it is getting late - I'm eithe rgetting the list or turning it in for the night
i'm heading to bed. night all!
i knit chemo hats for my pts (i am an onc nurse) i also knit breast prosthesis -- the patients love them
night feather. what help do you need music?
you are an angel, they love all that and it is so needed
GN feather...sweet dreams....
that's really neat that both of you knit for cancer patients.
lb - I'm getting the list now -- I'll let you know if I get it stuck

fa5.22 not close and drive carefully on i** roads
oops - thanks!
In Hawai'i we don't think of them!
that sounds interesting, I have never seen them but I do make small afghans for the kiddies
lol oh i guess you wouldn't
knitter...do you get patterns from Elann.com?
ak, maybe you should market those!
farcy
brb phone
yes farcy????????????
Aloha!
hi autumn.
hi ibd
autumn moon i got the pattern from a magazine. i think it is also on knitty.com
ollag blankies are nice and cozy, esp when you don't feel well
well alll, looks quiet, not many clues being sought so I will turn in for the night nite all
night ollag
they are well received and my daughters keep me in wool to make them in my spare time nite again
I am currently making a sweater from Elann that is worked all in the round, with the addition of sleeves. Looks like a pinwheel. Knitty also has a pattern for a uterus that I thought I would make for my friend after her hyst. My husband's aunt got the breast pattern from the cancer clinic
I crochet afghans to be given to children being pulled from their home and place in forster care. Also for the chidren of battered women.
hmmm a knit uterus! i saw that pattern, made me laugh i havce seen that pinwheel sweater it is lovely
smd that is a great place for afghans to go
i only wish i had more time to make things
I'm still here just read SMD and her afghans that is a great idea. What wonderful people on babble
I did the baby pinwheel sweater first, to test the pattern. Now making a larger one. Will have to readjust for all sizes. I knit during my bus commute and for 1/2 hour each night
It gives me pleasure to do this. I volunteer for United Way and have found that these blankets mean a lot to the children. Many times they are taken from the home with nothing but the close on their backs. the blanket becomes theirs!
hi again, everybody
bbl
we all may be babble addicted but we are also angels
hi Ping
autumn moon i have been oobling that sweater, perhaps i should make it good idea to make the little one first
hi smd
ooglin
oogling (geez)
is that a babblet aknitter?
no it isw stupid fingers that don't watch where they are going LOL
I have also made premie burial clothes. Moms and dad are so devastated by the death of their child that they have no idea what to dress the babies in for burial. BUT, I had to give that up when close friends baby was born with 19th chromosome. Hutt too much to see the baby in the outfit.
wow you ladies are awesome.
Hi Ping
i have read about that charity. too sad
hi lbd
the upside is that there are fewer and fewer infant deaths. Science has come a long way.
your grandson is adorable, lbd
thanks Ping. i think so too, but i may be a bit biased lol
no lbd you are not biased at all
do your grandchildren live near you?
he's the only one, and they live in San Diego. :--(
well night all, off to knit a bit
night ak
good night, knitter
that is a long haul
they drove up for new years. had to bring the grandpuppy with them.
took them 3 days of driving, and of course they had to hit the bad weather, coming and going.
argh!
i asked my son if he'd learned anything from this mode of travel...his responce "leave earlier."
a no fly kind of guy?
they fly a lot, just wanted to bring the dog with them this trip. not quite sure why since my daughter-in-law's father loves the dog and would be more than happy to watch her.
a 3 day trip with a child/ren seems like a plan for madness to me - and i have a 1 and a 2 year old so i'm talking out of recent experience
i can't imagine being in a car with kids no matter the age for any distance of driving. definitely a prescription for prozac!
sc 5/12 plz
but i guess my grandson is like his daddy. gets into the carseat, goes down the road for a few miles and is out like a light til the car stops.
both of mine a untalented sleepers, generally
prism, shoo with an extra consonant at the end
hey all...
hi arwen
Ping...I have two granddaughters that live with me..the oldest is nine and we have always been able to take her on long trips without a problem , but her 15 month old sister is a whole different story. I Would rather be thrown in a briar patch that to have to drive her a block .
ty
ibd - I fly with my (120 pound) dog all the time.
hi ar
LOL SMD
I don't think the airlines would allow her in the cargo hatch due to the temps, autumn
smd! lol
All the airlines have planes with heated cargo areas. You just have to arrange your travel around their schedules
i never knew of heated cargo areas, moon
my son doesn't know how to plan! (he gets that from HIS father)
i didn't know about heated cargo hatches either.
I love her to death but I will love her in the house and not in the car. My older son wants us all to fly to visit him in Las Vegas. Beth and I will fly on on Plane and Papa and Jaime can take the next one. I am serious
I have flown in all seasons. You just have to ask the airline which flight has the heated cargo space.
interesting, moon - i will def remember that
why would they need a heated cargo space???
SMD! maybe she needs to be drugged before leaving the house? or maybe you need to be drugged?
and remember, if you have a little dog, then they fly in cabin, not cargo.
I think we both will need to be drugged.
my sister has a mini schauzer. and she travels with her all the time, except this fall when some snitty tsa agent said her carrier was too big! hello? it's the same one she's used for the last 12 years!
scrappy - it's really cold way up there in the sky. During the winter, it gets to 0F in the cargo hold
is there anything else other than luggage, etc. in the cargo hold
dogs.....other cargo
smd, maybe you can ride in the cargo hold?
wouldn't the dog staying at a kennel be better?
or put the baby in the overhead compartment.
scrappy, for some folks they may need to have their dog with them as a companion animal or a guide dog.
It is cheaper for me to fly my baby across Canada with us for a 14 day vacation than kennel her. Also, would you leave your kids in a kennel??
No thanks but I will check to see if Jaime can ride inthe cargo hlod.
smd would
I just was asking a couple of questions-is being rude called for?
sorry scrappy, didn't mean to be rude.
maybe you need to get the chip off your shoulder
flight BC to Ontario = $140 round trip. Kennel 25 x 15 days = $375. Was your rude comment directed at me?
no
were you being rude?
lbd was saying i need to ride in cargo hold
smd and i are also carrying on a chat, and it crossed the line. i'm truly sorry for coming across rude.
actually, i said smd could ride in the cargo hold.
going back to the grid...I'm confused with the chat
lol
i think i'm leaving now, before i unintentionally hurt someone elses feelings.
bye
Scrappy I don't think Ibd was being rude. I was being a little off the wall and lbd was playing along. We would never be intentionally rude to anyone. I took her comments as being funny....and it helps me to laugh!!
bye IBD - until next time....
was actually chatting with lbd-not smd
scrappy, i agree with smd. i've chatted with lbd many nights and never remember her being rude to anyone
I did not realize that anyone else ws paying attention to us....and I would never put my granddaughter in a kennel.
was talking about dog-not ddtr
when in this chat...you are chatting with all that are logged on...not just one person. I didn't see anyone being rude to you, scrappy
yesmaam
FIREWORKS!!!
yay music mom!!
WTG musicmom
me 2 music
scrappy1mom...how long have you be playing babble?? My trial started 12/28 and I went Pro when my trial period was over.
BRAVO PING!
Congrats Ping!! WhoooooHoooooo!
brava mom!
This was the most friendly grid of the week I believe.
yeah-you go girl!
thanks everyone
i agree, music
made me feel almost semi-competent
I can stay for just a couple minutes and clue if anyone needs anything. Otherwise, I'm off to bed to allow the cold meds to work
lol
this grid was definitely the easiest for me. I usually work hours and hour on a grid. This one only took hours.
I know Ping. I broke down and got hte list with 33 words left - just because I ws getting tired.
man my typing stinks
same here, music
Okay well if no one needs clues. I'll see you all tomorrow.
Good night
i'm signing off too, good luck with the grid, those of you who are still babbling at it!
tu 5/16 please?

Opps forgot to tell you to change the first letter to P.
scrappy are you in the US??
yes
how do i make my flag show up on chat?
you have to have a paid membership
Have you gone pro?
oh ok-thanks!
it is a one time payment for lifetime membership. Well worth the money.
with it, you also get to have a cool icon
help please? at5/10 and pe 5/16?
at: +thick black smelly road stuff
thanks! Fireworks!
:) congrats
what does at5/10 & pe5/16 mean?
the first two letters of the word then it's length and point value
so at 5.10 would be the word startsd with at, has 5 letters, and is worth 10 points
oh ok-thanks! i am very new at this
no probs...check out the link to lickety's at the bottom of the page, it's very helpful
ty-i will

Scrappy the ES 5/12 means the the word begins with ES has 5 letters that total 12 points.
about 5-7 hoursd, depending on how fast you drive and what the border is like
you can go to Port Angeles and take the ferry to Victoria from there

this is going to sound silly, but on lickety, what do the numbers next to the letters mean?
Now -- retreating into grid
go jilli!
can we help?
so many words for what seems so little time ;)
the first # is the numer of letters in the word and the second # is the value of the letters in that word
derface, the first number is the amount of letters in the word and the second is the point value..
oh, thank you very much
i just started playing this and it is very addicting.
Jilli you not finished yet? Weren't you here this morning?
derface, it takes over your life
yes der, welcome to the asylum!
haha i hope not. but i see that happening
hahaha
Jilli are you one of those people that need a looming deadline to get things done?
derface, we have warned you, beware!!!!
have all of you been playing for a long time?
yes the babble asylum......
angb -- I've been away all day
derface - the definition of babble is 1) addition 2) insanity 3) frustration
but after the first year, the points don't really matter anymore! LOL
why dont the points matter?
not exactly, angb -- just need 48 hours a day
* 1) addiction. Just perfecting my misspelling to get all those odd words in the next grid
been less than a year for me and the points don't maatter now...it's the friendships
Be like me Jilli - don't do them
hear hear
aww thats nice
i like addition angb....we have to add as well
a lot of very nice people here... some people come to chat and don't even play the grid... i'm too addicted to the grid not to play.
13 left now -- back soon...

Jillibus, we looked at houses today in the same area.
Perfect area -- near NYC and all but lovely country
I'm going back to the house in Poughquag, New York to show my mother-in-law and sister-in-law the house
