I just came back Jilli
Hi Une
yes, but we are all very quiet, hi all
:-D
Oops sorry - ARB. Hi Kanga
Good morning all -- the sun just came out here.
I'm still here but gridding
hi une
hey :-)
still here, but trying to concentrate; amazing grid!
is it just me, or is this a toughie?
very tough
I wish people would identify their musicians so dummies like me would know who they are
well, i've found 133 pretty quickly . . .
Paul Simon
I thin its tough - has break but only have110
*sob*
thanks, une! I like him too
sorry about my spelling! I really can - its the two finger typing that lets me down
not familiar with your guy, jillibus, but will check him out!
lynxxx -- you "only" have 110? I have 53
oh but Jilli - I specialise in 4 letter words !
He's young but oh so talented, une
lynxxx, me too--have 134 but nothing bigger than a 6!
*tries to edge unobtrusively out of room*
kanga, don't be silly! :-)
come back Kanga!
sorry, it's hot here, and I think I have brain overheating...
my 53 are mostly 4-letters too :(
I have 1 7, so we're all struggling.
oh goodie! a five letter word, and so smooth too...
of course, I'm also watching TV...
i'm mentally checking off my packing list... off camping tomorrow, and just taking a break from packing the car.
hope its not too hot kanga, nothing worse than a hot tent
where do you go to Kanga?
on TV everyone's been looking VERY hot at the Australian Open!
down to jervis bay, lynxxx. first time with the kids.
77 here , finding this hard
it is very hot une
and I think hotter in melbourne
big and hard, andree - not fair
but the weather forecast is for cooler for the rest of the week... here's hoping
Thats down here in Melbourne Unea - it was dreadful last week but has now been raining for 3 days and much cooler
not when its monday tomorrow jilli
Should be lovely Kanga - hope you don't get too much rain though
my family live down that way, so if it is too wet we have a bolthole.
more worried about the shark photographed just off the beach we are going to!
sounds good kanga
not the shark, the bolthole,lol
Think I would be too !!!!!
had me worried there, andree.
nothing wrong with sharks I just don't want to meet one swimming
Yay - I got a U !!!!
absolutely, andree. might send the kids in first ;)
i would be more shocked if he was walking andree :P kidding -- they are scary critters
anyone got a hint for the 9
lol kanga appetisers
met one once, while skindiving.
evening all Aussies and others. un 5 lynxxx
i'd settle for a clue for a 7!
hey angb
I just got one at the same time
all i can tell ya andree is that it supposedly starts with pr
hi angb
hi andree
TY AngB - the one I found was un5.18 - yours the same?
got to say bye -- will come back later with a clean conscience after doing what must be done today.
bye arb
and un5/12
see you later ARB
bye, arb
yeh - the others are a 4 and 4 combo 0which I have just found
bye arb
i've got a un5/12, but not a 5/18... swap? (mines a flat...)
4 and 5 - time to turn light on
I should be ironing but it is too hot inside, have laptop outside where its many degrees cooler
Thanks you all. un5.18 is what you don't do at an auction
had to do the washing up, earlier. was like a sauna, but not as relaxing.
thanks, lynxxx.
just got the pr9/78 -it's plural
all my housework is done after dark these days i'm like some sort of sadie vampire
too hot to eat so hence no washing up
well dne jilli
I mean it's a plural
just found what i've lost because of the head...
thx for the u's
the heat, rather
whats the temp in Sydney? sounds like your getting the weather we did
lynxx it must have been in the high 30's today, now a lovely breeze but heat still trapped in the house, so i will stay outside for a while yet
down from a high of 42 to 29 (just checked the bom site)
jilli, any hints on what the 9 is a plural of?
anything over 35 and i melt anything over 40 and i just wanna die
ugh - hope you don't have it for as long as we did! nor the fires
and the floods lynxxx - they look nasty too
the weather is supposed to break tonight, then just around 30. (there are floods?)
Pr8/9 - ban(s)
you have had terrible weather lynxxx, we have not had very many bad days so no complaints here
floods in SA
not really a plural -- a present tense
cheers jilli, got it
where are you kanga
thanks jilli!
thanks!!
sydney, andree

Oh! thanks Jilli!

thx, angel -- g'night une!

I'm in Austin
Bye Une

Yes, too bad for sure. I'm moving overseas in a few months and need to get rid of stamp stuff! Fortunately I have several friends just waiting to get their hands on it.
well, if there are beads or stamps that they don't want, be sure to keep me in mind. 8)
I'll be going through FW on my way to visit family before I leave, so I will let you know if there are leftovers. :)
that would be way cool thanks
Okay, I hit 105 and my brain is obviously fried. Night all, be sure and leave good clues for me to find tomorrow!

al + Latin "I love"
ahhhh lol i should have gotten that thanx ang
D al + slang for what you put in guns & rifles
the one al/5 I have is a famous battle in Texas
That's the one Iain
speaking of slang - there a am 4 that is aussie for ambulance
cheers D
thanks :D. where are you?
Thanks D
add onto the front for a nasty racist word and a dance
thank :D
i m in bathurst, NSW
and again, ta!
no problem
can also be two slices of bread with filling, D...
There are lots of nasty little words in this grid!
yeah thats the racist one kanga - i like your clue better tho it would have had me looking for sanga LOL
racist is in the eye of the beholder
a good banger sanga and a schooner, would do me nicely right now!
sound great kanga
kanga wantsa banger sanga
agreed jilli - aussies tend not to be racist but r often accused of it as we tend to label people that way without meaning offence, like poms, yanks and wogs
pass some along
damn, might have to put some real clothes on and head for the bottle shop
get enough for us all kanga
I disagree that racism is in the eye of the beholder.
will do! any favourite brews?
i am having a margarita. have some left. any takers?
its only offensive if u choose it to be taken that way babble
settle for a margarita, any day joey!
memememe
here it comes, keep your mouth open.!!
I totally disagree
that's what I meant, :D
some people deliberately set out to be offensive babble, but if i called u a yank it would not be intended that way
and your intention is not definative
my two cents - which i don't often offer. there are some words in the english language that have the stigma of being in poor taste no matter what your intent. sad to say but that is how it is.
but it is babble - how else do afro americans get away with calling each other nigger?
racism is not subjective
i cant say it to them without being racist but its ok for them? THATs racist
I am a WASP, a honky, an ofay, a haole, a bitch, whatever, and I don't care
you are arguing in circles
my hubby calls canadians plastic frogs and some of our best mates r canadian
I think D is only referring to bterms we use in Australia. Lots of times, in our own weird way, they are terms of endearment. A lot of times, we only 'insult' when we care about someone - else we ignore!
oh, and a hag too
so what?
and i'm a skip, and proud to be known as one!
not arguing babble - just voicing my opinion
sure you are
me either jilli, we are a lot more jokey here than other countries but generally don't mean offence
and certainly not trying to offend babble
what's a skip?
a bog plain anglo australian, called that by wogs in reference to Skippy!
skip = skippy = Skippy the Bush kangaroo!
if u allow peoples words to hurt you babble they will continue to use those words to hurt you
morning all
not to mention bogan kanga :P
Hi MVA
morning MVA
ahh, i hear my wog husband returning with our takeaway dinner. see you later all.
Hi MVA
oh -- skippy sounds cute!
that does not mean the words are not offensive and racist
lol bye kanga
you can rationalize forever, but use of racist terms is racism
Bye Kanga - enjoy - and the trip as well!
if i upset someone unintentionally by my speech i will apologise babble but i can assure you that it is rarely intended in this country wen we refer to people that way
sticks and stones
they are not taken that way here, I refer to myself as a wog occasionally and I have lived here 50 years
thanks lynxx, will do *poof*
Unfortunately jilli - words are often the tip of an iceberg of racist behaviour.
oooh what interesting chat!
agreed ang, but that's where intention comes in - it is easy to tell if someone is using your race to try to undermine you or if they mean it affectionately
some'minorities' use racism as a lever to get what they want regerdless of the wishes of the majoity. Lets treat everyone equal ( no doubt someone will find a way to buck the system)
if no offence is meant, none should be taken
hear hear
to use racist language and then say " oh I didn't mean to be racist" is quite convenient
Not necessarily - that is from your point of view, not an oppressed person's point of view. I'll stop now - one of hot buttons
absolutely lain and that is wot i am saying if someone draws attention to my race it doesnt bother me - it is who i am as much as being female -- as long as they dont TRY to use it to hurt me, its a joke
but we don't do that babble, its how we speak here
no babble - its irreverant and that is the way australians tend to be
and lian, that is why in the US the there is equal protection so the majority cannot shove there racism down the minority's throat
Are you a white aussie D? That makes a major difference.
etting upset over being called a wog or woteva is just as silly as getting upset at being called a shiela
we are not yet terrified of every word we utter as you have to be in US
no ang
I see
i m of aboriginal descent
so you are fearless racists?
wow feel like I have been working on this forever, still have 69 to go
good for you
no i m an equalist babble
ty .. getting a brain freeze lol
I don't think anyone is exactly encouraging the use of derogatory terms. What triggered me was the designation of sa5/16 as a "nasty racist word" when it was, to me, the name of a delightful little boy in a favourite children's story.
is not you calling us racists just as bad
so very true jil... never ever thought of it as a pejorative then
this is a waste of time .... and andre, just as bad as what?
and the pics in my book were amazing
just as labelling someone according to their heritage is not racism for us volley - just as labelling by sex is not sexism or age is not ageism -- just calling it as it is
volleymomdee, i still have a copy of that book. was also a favorite of mine
good on you d
if you dont think your race is something to b ashamed of why would u be offended by me affectionately calling you a yank or wotever
so true... how I feel also
So I've always remembered the word "ghee"
isnt that cheese related jilli?
butter, :D
I have a golliwog here my grandchildren love, guess that is a no no too
so, every black person should be proud you call them a N?
how could i mean to disparage u by pointing out a proud heritage babble?
ach
what utter twaddle!
i have never used the N word because i know it causes offence babble - also i dont meet a lot of afro americans here
i do call mates black bastards tho
d they respond in kind with a laugh
i think its the person said word is directed to that should get to decide if they feel offended or not
if i call u a girl are u offended wyrd?
and like in the slave days the folks said yes master... or got whipped
wots the difference?
a whole bunch of difference ...
well i get to decided that myself i think
Well, I have only 73 words here and I think I'll go to bed
I give up .... no wonder intolerance is rampant in this world
fair enough - obviously i have my view and u have yours, neither seems to b changing
nite jilli
you have taken this too seriosly babble , our sense of humour is different
BabbleR - I think you are taking this way too far. D, Andree and even I were talking about the Australian climate. Of course, we do not know the circumstances in the US - only be hearsay. Australians, because of our now generous immigration policy, are very much indeed a multi racial society - and to the betterment of all who live here. We are, in the vast majority, not racist.
here here lynxxx
thanks lynxxx
and I think you miss the point.
Is babrab being tolerant of those who differ with him?
It seems that over the years words have altered their meanings. Some are upset by the changed word. If you KNOW the word will upset a person DO NOT use it, Idf you have used it then apologise if it caused offence, If you are offended please accept a well meant apology and lets get on with life, its hard enough as it is
and i do embrace people of all cultures and religions regardless of their skin colour and i hope that they will do the same for me
No BabbleR...we really do see your point. Racism is abhorant - and would not survive in Australia
if you want to let wot others say to u hurt u that is your perogative babble, it is never my intent, nor the intent of the people i know
there is an objective standard for rascism and it should not be enabled or tolerated .... you are rationalizing your racism
we are NOT racists
calling me intolerant and racist doesnt alter wot i know to be true for me and everyone i know
and that argument, :D, is such a convenient way to be racist
and that argument, :D, is such a convenient way to be racist
no its the way that we live and the way that we have embraced other races and cultures into our own
ignoring our differences does nothing
do you object to being called a yank, babble
owns
pretending that we are all the same and being careful not to mention certain aspects of race or culture is ridiculous
oops
got that one lain - keep trying :P
thanks, Iain! I didn't have that little one
Hi all, just coming in! was playing bridge online all evening
sometimes it is the easy words that are missed
hi flosey

too many unwords is never fun
ah, chat is good :)

Halfway! time for Lickety or I'll never finish this before work tomorrow! BBS

I have difficulty to believe there are biggies in this grid.
The biggest word I have sprite is 1 x 7 letter LOL
mine are 6 :)
now I never would have guessed that! Isn't this grid a pain in the ...OOPs?
do you want the ones Jilli found?
Yep - not enjoying it.
the ad 7 7& 8 and the pr 8 and 9 all end in the same 5 and 6 letters
sure
I saw something about ob7 and 8, but I couldn't make head or tail of it
Joey just gave them - the pr means to ban
I can see I'll never get this one finished I can't even get it started!!!!!!!!!!
great, that did the trick. I would have found the pr eventually, but that ad is new for me.
thanks for the clues :)

I have this strange ho7/8 combo. I think it means resembling a human. The 8 ends in the robot ending. For the 7 drop one of the last vowels.
ohhhh... and do you have the tiny van mi7/44 that sounds like a granddaughter of jilli?
do know - though still don't know the name!
which name?
Jillis granddaughters
oh, I was not referring to a name, it was a clue, LOL. Look at the word and at jilli's name, you'll know what I meant :)

Think of Lynxx's clue and a motorcycle's sound
lol got it! You are right, it is a cute clue.
np I'll stop in later... have a wonderful day!!! poof
I used that in a scrabble game yesterdya LOL
Angb: no, Dee went fireworks, not me. I am only halfway.
Dr Bs clue I think
Did they accept it, Angb?
bye Dee
OK - I have got over 1/2 in every box. It was challenged of course. But valid - yeh
back again
hey, the V combo has a su variant.
Andree hi again
wb Andree
TY Sprite
And a am combo too
Thnx for the su sprite
this is hard work
it certainly is. Slow going and some pretty stupid words too.
Morning/afternoon/evening everyone. Another biggie again today, I can't cope with them, but I will try to do a few of the words
hey ExWren :)
Have you found the bananas? bo 6 and 7
hi ex wren
Just thought the banana word might just be a NZ brand!
are those bananas? I thought fish, lol.
I don't like the sound of your post regarding 'stupid words' Sprite!
Hello ExWren - good to see you
I thought that was a fish
The fish as an o on the end.
lots of REALLY stupid words ex
Good bait though
and rightly so, ExWren - some real unwords in this grid. Probably even more than I have :) Angb: just looked it up. Dictionary says B~o, Often incorrectly written ~a.
Thnx for that sprite
so you were right about the fish ending o
Good morning/evening all. I don't think I have time to start the grid just yet, but wanted to say hello and see what the lie of the land was.
hi Haz! Pretty tough going, this one.
it lies tough, Haz
Good evening Haz - not enjoying this grid
Well, that's really encouraged me!!
At least I know you're being honest.....
But glad to see you.
we are not luring you in with lies, that is something ;)
hi haz
do7/36 pastor, minister. Ends in double vowel.
Ah well, I'll view it as a challenge. Challenge, an experience, interesting - words that are charged with meaning, often negative!!
Morning Haz
Says "Good morning" with confidence but looks at the grid very tentatively
Hello FMitch - they say it has a government health warning.
Hello FM
And hello lynxxx and Andree - how are our warmer than us friends?
so true, Haz! I never apply for jobs that have those words in their ads. "Challinging job, no 9-5 mentality, for a creative teamplayer" - no thanks.
Hey FMitch
Hi FMitch
hi fmitch
Still slighly wet and much cooler - weather has moved to where Andree is
That's the sort of job where they give you everything to do and act surprised that you want to go home occasionally.
Glad it's cooler, lynxxx.
Exactly :) Did a few of them when I was still young and stupid.
Hi Lynx and Haz and sprite and Angb and Andre and everyone. I think I am going to be good and get "stuff" done before I even think about starting this
hot today but a cooler evening and cooler weather forecast
We can be disciplined together, FMitch.
I think I will give up for the nite. See ya all tomorrow if I get up the courage. Good nite
Nite AngB
Night Angb
Sleep well Angb - maybe the grid will look better in the morning.
nite angb
night Angb :)
Hmmm - I doubt it - but here's hoping
night ANgb
Good morning everyone. Don't think I've ever seen a bit grid that got sticky so quickly.
pity clouds still isn't the theme today
Hello Eva
no, it is nasty. Hi Eva
hi eva
Oh well, there seems to be a concensus of opinion on this grid.
And even Rambo isn't acceptable to hlep us out of this mess.
hi eva
should we put the cubes back in the box and shake it up again?
Time to go!
just checked in - this might be one grid I pass on, I agree eva. Hi and good night, all - I'm on my 3rd night of no sleep and tomorrow (today) will have a hard time rooting for Da Bears if I don't get at least some shut eye!
let's do that, Eva :D
night babbz
I have seen one person finish so far Haz I will be off too then if we are going to be disciplined together. Happy Babbling and good luck!!
see you later, FMitch and Haz
I have 2 left -- but I've been at it for over 3 hours.
omg ARB!
one left
down to 70 and already here for a long time
go ARB goooooo!
Wow ARB ! surely not without a list!
arb, I have been at it for 3 hours too, have 140 left, lol
Are you nuts? Of course with Lickety's help plus a little help from my other friends (dictionaries). Fireworks
yeah ARB! Well done!
yay arb
Woohoo! doesn't matter how you get this one done. Congratulations ARB
If it is any consolation, I will use Lickety's list too today. No way I can finish it without help
Lots of words ending in vowels. Lots of words I have never seen. A challenge, if there ever was one.
I'm not proud. I use all the help I can get! I will try harder without a dictionary if the list is shorter.
BBS
yeah, same here. I just opened A2Z as well.
wtg arb
bye lynxxx
later lynxxx
the longer the grid the sooner I get the list
Bye Lynxxx
Sometimes there are big grids that flow so easily, I get 3/4 done without trying hard. But there are smaller ones that can drive me bananas before halfway. And this one combines the worst of both worlds ;)
I try to hold out till I have at least half and sometimes manage to get to 70%, but I don't think I have finished without the list and I've only finished a few times without the Z2Z lists
I start typing words in every language I can think of. Sometimes it works!
When I first started playing babble, I think it was Atalante who told me: only looking up the actual words is cheating. All the rest is research :D
oh yes, many words in other languages are valid... and many english words aren't.
walt
drat!
not found in the dictionary
and drat is not found in this puzzle, LOL
you never know when proper name also turn out to be words. Drat was the sanitized version of my internal vocalization
grin, thought as much. Couldn't resist teasing though.
Im even trying hebrew...that's a stretch
in some grids that really works well
There are two Hebrew words -- folk dance and its plural. Do you want any more clues?
yeah, but conjugating hebrew verbs in english doesn't
please (hi)
thanks ARB-hdan't seen those obvious ones yet
hi kanga
ho 4/5 and ho 5/12
thanks arb
hi kanga
lots of dances in this grid
yw
hi andree. shouldn't be here, should be cleaning house!
why clean if you are going away tomorrow
need to do something more soothing so I can fall back to sleep (maybe). See you all later.
cos my sister just asked if she could stay in my house while we were away
night Eva
bye eva
bye eva
and you did not answer your sister: "Sure, but you will have to clean it then!" ?
any other sister ... but this one is in the middle of chemo
ow, gosh sorry. No, then I understand you want her to have it as good as possible. How is she holding up?
you're a good sister
surprisingly well. she is astonishing. says it improves her arthritis.
Your sis sounds like a winner. What a great way to look at things.
she has her moments. difficult for the rest of us to keep up with!
good on her
my sister was diagnosed on thursday with a brain tumour
lord andree, i'm sorry. i know how hard this stuff is.
How is she doing? How are all of you doing? What a blow.
(((Andree))) That is terrible, what a blow.
if you have brain tumour she has the best you can have, meningioma, very good prognosis
that's a bit of a relief. but it is always so hard. my father's just had his bad prognosis revised to great, and we are all feeling better.
she flew to tasmania today to tell her kids and will have surgery mid feb, not cancer they say
my prayers are with all of you.
best wishes for your family, andree.
a real tough break, but good there are some lightpoints to it all. Will think of you all.
I am the only one she has told now I have told babble world, duh
my lips are sealed
Well, we don't know your sister, so it doesn't count. You told your babble support group - you're entitled to.
by now she will have told her kids , she has given me the job of telling my other sisters tomorrow
Not easy, Andree
tough one andree.
I am a tough old bird
and so is she
they breed us like that down here!
Sure you are. And who is there to give you support, dear tough old bird?
Hi everyone. Andree, I a, sorry to hear about your sister. I pray all goes well. :)
I have great kids who will help if I need it
hi Bittong
hi bilt
Does this grid look unfriendly, or is it just me?
Glad to hear it, Andree. Being tough is okay, as long as you don't have to cope all by yourself.
All good wishes to your sister, and to you and the others in the family Andree. It's a worrying time for you all xx
Hi Biltong. It is very tough
and hello everyone :)
Bittong: nasty grid today
thx all, will have more news when surgery is scheduled
((((kanga and Andree)))) Will pray for you and yours.
hi Karys
thank you sprite
well said Sprite
thx all
I'm back. Bad news Kanga & Andree - but I bet they are glad you are both around - you both seem such 'pillars of strength'. I am sure they will both come through it all
How can there possibly be 22 m's? lol.
hi lynxxx
I just finished m's bilt, it was a marathon
Hello Bittong. Is you daughter still with you?
not enjoying this at all
Just finisned them, with help from Lickety. Most are not too bad.
Ooh, well done Andree!
thx lynxxx
ssorry Kanga....just read back...of course all good wishes to you too x
sprite, it must be tough. As far as I know you normally don't use the list. Doesn't bode well for me!
Hello Karys
thanks karys, not offended at all!
Nope, usually I struggle along without the list, but I can't finish this one without help.
:)
I will be off now, may try from work tomorrow, happy babbling all
happy camping trip kanga
bye andree, best wishes
Bye Andree
bye Andree, *hug*
bye Andree
bye Andree, take care
some of these words are just plain wrong!
I agree
I am monkeytyping my head off
takes the fun out, a little
me too....and then you find a dear little word !
that's what keeps me going, Karys :)
I smiled to myself to see the litany of al's from the word list that seems to stick in my head
Good day, Babblers. A bigger grid than I expected after first review of the letters. How is it?
ok, better go and clean before i lost it! thanks for all the kind words, and see you later.
yes, they are great. I also smiled when I found Li6/27 and Po4/5 - 5/12 right after another.
Bye kanga *hug* Hope you have a great trip.
thanks sprite. hope so! *poof*
bye kanga
now why didn't I have to look at my list to see which ones you meant !!!
bye Kanga
Hi Scrabbler! It is just as you would think - all the words that make the grid this size are unwords.
lol Karys :)
I love finding "unwords". It's always a surprise.
Then you're in for a lot of surprises today, Scrabbler :)
Let me give you an impression. There is Sa6, tasty sausage with garlic. Great word. But for Sa5 drop middle vowel. And then plural for another Sa6. Now those are unwords.
***searching for sausage***
thanks, sprite :)
ty sprite...hadn't tried that !
monkied it because Lickety said there had to be words there.
Got 'em--TY Sprite
yw :)
sm5.12 & 6.21 - now what are they? I could cope if they had a z near the end
thanks Sprite
Isn't that an italian kind of sausage?
ty sprite that bumps up my miserable score!!!!
got one sm5/12 lynxxx
Yes, I believe it is, Bittong. Sm5/12: a coloring agent made of blue glass produced by fusing silica, potassium carbonate, and cobalt oxide, used in powdered form to add color to vitreous materials. As if we want to know that. But that strange 6 is not listed there.
ty sprite, after reading that I put the vowel on the end
ok, found it. It has the same def. Italian plural. They are used in mosaics.
Have to go now. See you later. Happy hunting everyone!
bye Bittong!
and here I was thinking it was goose fat or similar!
bye Bilt
Bye Bittong
At least we can boast we learned something new from our babbling today ;)
but will we remember it !
We are increasing our Word Power. My goal today is to use sm6 in a sentence.
LOL Scrabbler
Not verbally, but we will remember there were words with those letters... and perhaps we will vaguely remember they had to do with coloring glass :)
That is easy, Scrabbler. I needed sm6 to make a mosaic of my in4/4 ;)
well..... I'll try !
There is a lot of vagueness with many babble words..."I think that was here once, let me try that..."
TY Sprite, for in4, I have only been working on the bottom half of the grid so far.
there is a lot of ohhhh yes... I think I remeber that now
back in a bit....doing the ironing you know
I recognize that completely, Scrabbler. I often think something like that - usually there is one letter missing, of course, but sometimes it works :)
One of my monkeys is named "Babblette"--female, of course.
must be the leader of the pack, Scrabbler :)
bye Karys, hf
She gets extra treats!
Lots of bo7 for her today
TY for 2 words, Sprite!
yvw :)
OK, bottom half is "done" for now--time to look up.
good job!
Hinus is not a word. Don't they call the Queen, Your Hinus. LOL
LOL!
Very close to another word though
Such desperation.......ooo, I'll look.
Ah, found it. TY
Lol, I am getting ideas for a nice poem with those two :)
Uh oh, I just noticed the "un"--are there lots of "un" words.
Or a limerick.
with a man named Linus
Only one Scrabbler
Only one real UN-word, and none of the uns are stupid.
I found an "un + verb"--is that the only one?
Thanks to Lickety, the chat and A2Z I have fireworks. Yes Scrabbler, that is the one.
NM--U's are now done--I answered my own question.
Congrats Sprite!
Yahoooooo Sprite. Only 197 to go for me.
Any clues I can help with?
How about the 9 and 8's? I have 5 min then have to get ready to make hospital rounds.
Pr8 and 9, to ban / bans.
Ad7 and 8 have the same last part as the Pr.
TY! Never heard of the ad words.
Well done sprite, I only have 260 to find!
Same here, completely new to me.
that close, ExWren! Go for it! :)
ExWren--come on, I see fireworks close to you!
late flip!
The top half of the grid is not as fun as the lower half.
hey Fran!
hi sprite!
Only 5 1/2 hrs late, Fran--did you oversleep?
Fran wanted to show us how fast she can do a nasty grid :)
lol scrabbler! no, went out to dinner, got back late
What time is it there?
i haven't been to sleep yet, it's 1:30
I have a hard time keeping track of everyone's time zones.
in that case, don't start, Fran. Go to bed :)
oh no, is it a bad one?
For me the flip is at 1 AM--so I only stayed up for it once.
yup, not very nice. Some pretty words, but lots andlots of unwords.
+ space somewhere
i think i will go to sleep then and tackle this tomorrow.
so you're up early then scrabbler.
New babble definition: babblets are recurring unwords.
Mornin' or Good Evenin' to all!
I got up extra early, Fran. I have to get to the hospitals then the office to see sick kids. I will be back later today.
hey Odin
hi Odin
hi odin!
well, i'm going to do sudoku and then go to bed then.
not an easy job, Scrabbler

See you later, folks.
I'll join you for sudoku, Fran. You all have a great day/night/whatever and happy babbling!
Wow...just started and it looks tough.
Hi Odin. It is.. a lot of words are there but seem quite hidden until you use a list. but thee are a lot of 'words' I've never seen before
Hey lynxxx...I'm beginning to think I haven't seen many of them. Monkeying will be by best option!

bo7 - plural of bo6. Think it means beautiful in Portugese
pr8= to ban something

I don't have the bo6 yet
kwizno123 - add an s to the ad7
plural the ad7
the bo 6 is also a kind if fish
doxy - bo6 = madonna song - la isla b*****
My English is bad enough, let's not be dragging the Portugese into this.
bo6 = madonna song - la isla b*****
lol gramma -- don't worry, I only spent 3 days in Brazil one time so Portugese is VERY limited :)
thx, got it
i don't even know the madonna song
that's surprising, doxy, considering the song is over 20 years old.......
Limited! ah yes that's what I'd call it. or nonexistent
KateQ, the fish did it. ty
I'm old enough, I just don't listen to her
Keep going movieman! I'm finally with you on the BO fish.
yw!
do7= like a game tile with dots, but change the last vowel for two other ones
sail
tail
ho7= a scientific term for a human being.......

All of the passports in order now then Kate
February 1st can't come quick enough, can it katie
Peri, I think I have rotator cuff problem also, but have to leave right now to pick up our new second hand volvo on the Ohio Turnpike. Talk to you about that another time. Still need 73 words. Will have to come back later,
did you get some help to get out I have not seen you in a while
no I'm still waiting for my eldest's, I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and see what's going on with it
yes sudoku, James came through with the money from a loan
Hi Kate, glad to read all is working out. oops, one more passport needed. It will work out too
I was going to wait til I had the passports and cash in my hand before I booked my flight, but my dad kept teasing that it would sell out so I booked it in a panic
*poof*
Is he paying back the loan, or will you have to contribute?
no he's paying it all back
Good morning, I need two clues on for the first sa6/21 and the third 8 after ad8 and pr8 which I have. thanks
my a's are done.
marc - do you have the ho7?
good morning
That's a consolation then, he's not all bad!
marc. ho8 - another word for a human being.
congrats kthdsn. I hope things go better for you.
hello babblers
no we've been getting on really well again lately
Don't weaken
ty doxy, hi blood
yes I have the ho7
marc - then add an o between the n and the i
I'm not weakening, I have no interest in being with him any more, I'm just so excited about my new start and I can't wait to get out there and begin
have to go for now. will be back later
thanks movieman and Bloodaxe got it now need the first sa6/21 it is driving me crazy
do you have the meat Marc?
What do you mean by meat?
I'm beginning to realise all the things I will miss here though, friends, family, places, one person in particular who I've grown really close to lately, but I don't think I will really miss James that much if at all
a "tube" of meat...pork, seasoned...looks like summer sausage.
morning everybody
got to go now for a while, will be back. I've still only managed 20 words.
goodmorning everybody!
is ho8 related to ho7???
Hi, melon
heyCharm
I have no idea what you are talking about Blood
yes melonhead
haha..it's an Italian meat, Genoa Sa****
Marc - do you have the italian cured meat?
bbl
any clues for the 1st am 5/12
whee - got the in7
tx moviemand
Morning everyone. I haven't been around for a while. How are y'all?
Blood I have that one it is the first sa6 that I need the one after what you do at see in a special boat you sa**.
Hey, msree
Hi All again went off for some lunch
well I guess I should go and get some organising done, the packing won't do itself and I have 9 days to finish it all!
that's the only sa6 i have at the moment marc.
am i just adding a letter to the end of ho7? that doesn't seem to work -
Hi Charm, I missed you and Opus.
hora
wooops!
Anyone else can help me with the first sa6/21 I don't think it's there.
marc italian meat is first sa 6/21 2nd is another name for itailian sauce - take out 2nd first vowel and then pluralise
add an o between n and i
that was for the ho8
am 5/16 any hints?
ooooooh, the adjective - saw it just as you gave the hint - tx sudokuaddict
yw i got it from movieman
am5 = am + shave & a haircut, 2 ***(*). am6 is....
ty charm
bits
majmom, got it.
Are we looking at the same grid. I am telling you there is a sa6/21 before the italian sausage. There are three sa6/21's. I first sa is a sa4 for a way of boating then the sa5/10 is it's plural then the sa6/21 which I cannot find and then a sa4 which means your are not crazy which I am feeling right now. It has to sart with sa+third vowel and then I am stumped.
Marc Italian meat is the 2nd sa6/21, 1st is sa + 3rd vowel + wait a ***ute; I know this clue was too easy, but I can't help it

it's so unusual that we have the L greek letter - we so often have et4 and rhymes for it, or some of the other short ones, but not the L one
i don't know... but i ususally use quite a few four letter words when doing these grids :-[}
thanks, hurshy, didn't have that one

i thought it would be vrod --- maybe something in a car engine, ya know? lol
that would be better gail...
heck. that probably IS a valid word in some other day's grid!
nope.
you can find out by typing it in the box. if it says "not found in dictionary" that's different than "not in puzzle"
hursy ponder on your phantom and you will get m7/44
gotcha, hurshy. was just trying to be cute.

snow snow go away, come again another day!

path to madness, there i go again...
summer is wisconsin is like summer in minnesota.
yeah... I can't stand the het, but the cold winters make it worth while.
*heat*
I hope it's snowing in CHicago....
ahaha. you're KIDDING.
We're okaay here - we have snow so infrequently that when it does everything stops
lol gail, was that directed to me? if so, then not at all! I lived in DC and St. Louis, and it was just too miserable of summer in those places. If I could find a job therre, I'd move to fairbanks in a heart beat... just to enjoy the winters
need ho6 please
LOL that's true Kazzer
o, i do understand the heat thing, papa. i detest humidity.
ho 6 is a friendly western greeting, spelled differently
ooh i got ho7 from you saying that doxie

los angeles, California
the "snow" here was more like sleet.

it's one I've made a long time ago, and just found the recipe again last night.
oh pappa, i didn't mean you
i don't think i've ever seen a full episode of the brady bunch
it's called ginger cordial, from india
yum
please pass on the recipe
:O FEATHER BEE (YOUR LAST NAME)
i'd love one right now smooth. thank you
I omly drink the nonalcoholic stuff
sounds great
*hides in shame* :-P
and I like ginger.
you take about a couple ounces of fresh ginger root, and bruise it pretty good. Mix in a cup of sugar with 10 cups boiling water and juice from 1/2 lime. boil until it dissolves (with the ginger added, also) and let it sit covered for about 3 days at that time, you need to strain it, and you can either drinki it right away, or seal it in bottles and let it sit for a little longer.
it's got one of the most refreshing flavors i've ever had.
thank you
i think they make something similar in jamaica
and hurshy, we could put rum in there if we choose to
i wouldn't choose to... lol
or vodka! lol
I think a little tequila would be optimal for it, but then again I love a good tequila. lol

you're always missing too many at some point :)
do i get extra points for namibia? LOL
yes, but they only count in africa
stupid s's *grumble*
hurshy - I agree. 5 words to go - all s's and I'm having trouble figuring them out. Maybe we can compare.
ma5/18 has eluded me for long enough! What is it, pray tell ???????
i need 5 s's too... imagine if they are the same ones...
Like a clue for the first s = 6/21?
s + ready *** fire + preposition
I'll keep track of the ones I don't have and then compare later.

click on archives for previous chat
ADHD most right hand button just above the chat log, shows the log starting with the flip
With grids like this one, its always the same--hit brick wall and recognize that I'm not going to finish, slink off to lickety's list just to get a few extra words, get enough obvious and interesting ones to get a second wind, realize that I'm close enough to see the finish line, and then I'm hooked again. This isn't just a game, it's a way of life...
u r kidding lol i've been going nuts trying to hurry so i don't miss anything and i can't keep with you speedy chatters lol
5!

Congrats, Strider. This was was a beast of a puzzle.
lynxxx, got any A combos from the right hand A that you think i might be missing? 4/5 or 5/6?
If it wasn't a Sunday, I would never have finished. It was fun, even with the really wierdo words.
what about male name, hursh?
hurshy - you have the cloth?
cute icon wordlover
H - am5.16 & 6.27
There's a weird one from the right hand a--an a/4 meaning a desk in a medieval church from which the epistles were read or chanted aloud
that's them! 100 points lynxxx!
H - am4.5 & 5.12
3 to go!
letters?
BLT (hehe)
2 5's and a 4
Speaking of weird, there are three unrelated si words (plus corresponding plurals) that are related to geology or soil...
Do you have the b + l 4, 8?
hi, all, i need a clue for the ow 4 and 5 please
ta5.10 - 2 of them after ta4.4 - chnage last letter

wa 4 & 5 please
H ti4.4 & ts4.4

Buttonman, someone who possesses barn dwelling birds o/4 o/4
i'm only going to alert you once, buttonman
H - ta4.4 - like another only a different vowel on end
there's a ta 5 that's odd - seems like a greek letter to me
ta5.12 ta + unmarried woman truncated
aha, that's the one lynxxx!
bl5.22 b + grass
The one that lynxxx clued is a kind that I often miss while monkey typing because it is a faux plural of a word that isn't a word.
yup
yeah. well it's probably singular of tames...
i don't see spinster in this grid at all
bl5.14 b + l4.4
i have 3 bl5 that fit that description :)
Actually, it's a kind of coarse woven cloth used for sieving. Another word that will doubtless enhance our daily discourse.
huh
huh
Sorry H didn't realise there was so many - there are 4 bl5.14s in all
what are you talkin about
yup, i have them then
Fireworks here tx all for good clues
Hi tad - not talking, clueing
Congrats Ursh
3 bo and 1 bu, is that right?
ok but i g2g 4 church
and 6 bi?
Tadb, it's a kind of shorthand for clues for finding words. Scroll down the page and lick on angelsong's page for a good introduction to this
Thats right H
ok then, got it.
H so only L now?
Good afternoon/evening. Babble session 3 about to begin.
yup, L5
Hi Haz
and, the point total i heard, so i believe is L5/10
Hello lynxxx. Feeling frustrated today, not just with the grid, but with getting time to do the grid. 160 to go.....
got it!
another pl with no singular...
Yay for Hursh !!!! fatastic effort
Another faux plural, old Lithuanian coin...
Haz - you must use the list if you aren't already then - this one is a torment
*the penny drops* ...finally found the serene synonym...
Checking the definitions of some of these words is like that old game of dictionary, except lots of these seem like obvious bluffs
lynxxx - haven't used the list yet, but am about to. My masochistic tendencies tend to be on the low side.
lol sherb
Bye everyone - must think about going to work
did you just finish hursh?
this one seemed really bad, but with the chat log clues, it went pretty darn well - much better than i expected
Bye lynxxx, see you tomorrow.
yeah
la 6? -- have little sheep, two plurals (lat. & eng.) and ethnic designation -- missing?
greek letter
bye lynxxx
:)
don't know greek!
congrats Hurshy!
well... it comes after kappa... um... i...
finished, hurshy? -- congrats!
baby sheep + russian yes
la 6/27 What Mary might call her little sheep affectionately
One more vowel and the la6/18 could dance to his heart's content
my dad says he can speak any language but greek, so you say how bout swahili, or whatever, and he says, oh, it's all greek to me
have that one ang and hurshy
I am back--taking on-call phone calls---a mother just screamed at me, demanding antibiotics for her baby with a cold and cough. Aaaggghhhh.
LOL hursh
Hello Scrabbler. No-one will scream at you here.
i have a pediatrician friend - she finds call very stressful, trying to make decisions sometimes without examining the patient, and what could happen if she is wrong
ah, dad jokes are the best...
don't understand, haz -- there is no la 7
I was joking that if you added a vowel to the la6 (the one featuring Mary's ovine) the la6/18 could dance away.
It is stressful--wanting to do the right thing for the baby, yet the mother "knows" what is needed and will not listen to me. I need a new career, STAT.
Deep, cleansing breaths....in and out....in and out...
are there 2 6's that start with baby sheep?
I feel so mean, but there's this girl on American Idol who can't remember her words and it's making me cringe and laugh.
Yes, one ends like an affectionate babying term, the other in Russian yes (almost affectionate term for father)
don't know russian -- back to the monkey!
i think that people just pretend to think they are good just to make the show entertaining. they can't be that bad and really think they are good.
got it -- thanks
That's good.
I wonder that. Can people really be that deluded? Must be actors, surely.
I don't think actors could be paid enough to do those stunts. People really are that self-deluded.
hi all!
They hear something different to what the rest of us hear. What makes it worse is that family and friends collude in the delusion.
that's a point. just one job and never working again. deluded people. wow
Hi tea
i dunno, i'd love to meet simon cowell... i'd pretend to be horribly deluded for the sake of that
LOL! Hursh!! you got a crush on him??
hi ang, how's the grid? I am working and babbling
don't you?
Yucky grid - need the list for this one
i guess it's a theme with me... men who are bluntly honest - house, simon...
HI.
oy!
You saw that Hugh Laurie got an award recently (Emmy? Golden Globe?)
Any clues for the al 5/14?
I think those people who can't sing on AI have never heard themselves sing on a tape recorder or something like that. I'll bet when they watch the show they are appalled at how bad they sound.
Yes, I'm so proud of Hugh! Love that show.
For a long time I didn't realize that Hugh Laurie had a British accent.
dunno about Simon Cowell, hursh. Mostly he's a euw, but he is straight-talking, I'll give him that.
an excuse, especially in a criminal case, Angb
He's as English as they come, which goes to show what a good actor he is!
yes, haz, saw the award - AND borat got the best actor comedy movie globe!
thnx inge - was looking for something far more difficult LOL
I agree Haz. I think he's great!
oh yeah and thanks for the hint inge.
some interesting words in this grid
apparently he finds it quite hard to do the accent, I read. It can get tiring, trying to pronounce words and sounds you're not used to.
i should think so
Borat I would have less time for.
THis is a tough grid. I got 95 words with hints and searching but I think it's time to pull up the list.
maybe they should have him do an exchange program with some doc in england so he could "pick up" a british accent, lol
I don't like Borat at all
we've all been stunned into silence...
bu anyone?
off to watch 24... have a good week everyone... see you next Saturday... :)
quiddler doesn't think vibe is a valid word!
No, I haven't seen the film but trailers don't really appeal to me. And the actor is deliberately controversial in everything he does.
bye sherb, enjoy your week
or fudgier!!!!
Bye sherb - sorry not to have seen you much today.
by 5/ 15 erected
*bu
ti 5? -- have the bone
thx Angb *hangs head in stupidity*
nm -- found it
don't be scared of finding the other one, nan
nan - shy
Going thru the list at moment and there are plenty of words I should have found - so you are not the only one
that is one of the few benefits of going listless, you don't have that experience.
you still feel fishy with clues sometimes, but that's not as bad or as frequent
I don't care in the slightest about feeling fishy. I keep the feeling to myself and let everyone think I find words easily.....
lol - and you do pull it off quite well
I've perfected the technique - never explain, never apologise...
:O Chicago school teacher Colleen Pavelka knows how much her husband loves the Bears. Apparently, she loves him even more. Colleen chose to have the birth of their second child induced a few days early so Mark Pavelka could attend Sunday's NFC Championship showdown between the Bears and the New Orleans Saints.
There's a bi 4/7 and 5/16 (pl) that sounds like what we affectionately call a German make of car. Mind you it could only be in NZ. Real def'n: a platform in a synagogue holding the reading table used when chanting or reading portions of the Torah and the Prophets.
back for a bit of grid with my football.... hi, all.
my husband always said that it was a good thing that our kids were due before the football season started.
I think he was half serious.
hi Pam!
are you going to iron as well pam? hahahahaha
hello pam
hi everyone.
LOLOLOL, hursh!
hey biltong
Hello pam and Biltong.
hi, TNC
great clue for the altar angb!
hi, haz
missing a ta 4 -- any guesses?
hi pam and thx. Do you call the cars that in the US?
ro clues please
we call 'em beemers here in the Boston area
sort of, ang, we usually put an r on the end
We don't say r's on the end of words here supposedly with our accent!
Hi Biltong :)
lol, ang!
monkeys are tired - going for lunch
SU6/30 & SU7/44 please?
Hi Inge2. Are those new puppies?
Same here Angb.
hello biltong
Are you ready to give in minski?
no old puppies :) the top two are mine, now grown
hi ren8
hi all. Tea--who are the twins in your icon?
Thanks ang
hi, natasha
oh I see. Just gorgeous!!
I knew there had to be at least one word with that 3 letter beginning.
hey pam, how's it going?
hello tasha
that is my new niece and nephew - born on 1/17. She was first and weighed in at 6 lb 6 oz, 19 inches and he weighed in at 6 lb 7 oz, 20 inches.
minski...su6...to give up...and the pl
oops -- missed the ts
big twins, tnc!!!!!
they were honkers!
really big twins! poor mom!
mine were 5 lb, 11 oz and 7 lb, 5 oz--they're growing twins big these days!
fortunately? she had a c-section scheduled due to 2 previous c-sections, but still - almost 13 punds of baby
natasha - it's about the same total weight!
*pounds
Mine were 6 lb 6 oz and 6 lbs 13 oz. I looked like the Taj Mahal on its side.
yep--I'm glad my partner was the birth mom and not me!
There was a lady featured in a British paper last week - her baby (one!) was 15lb something!
hee hee Vicuna. My best friend had smaller twins and she measured exactly 5 feet around the day before birth
My twin and I were both over 7 lbs!
wow, deeha that's amazing
my husbands grandfather was 16 something at birth. crikey, dee - that's huge!
Yikes, Deeha!
wow, TNC. Is he a tall man?
I was the same size as if I'd been pregant for 12 months with a 13-something pounder.
I never met him, neither did my husband, so I have no idea
my husband is 6' 2" though
Because she was expecting twins (this was at the beginning of the war before NHS) she had to have a doctor as well as a midwife. She complained all he did was sit on the windowsill and smoke!! And she had to pay him 3/6 - thats about 32p!!! Or I think 70 cents!!!
My youngest son was 10lbs at birth and is big and tall. He is 6' 5", so I can imagine that your husbands grandad was very tall.
st7/32?
that bodes well for my little prokers then! they were both 9 lb 3 oz and 21 inches at birth
And I thought 8 pounds 12 ounces was big!
*porkers
and I thought the 8lb, 13 oz baby my sister just had was big.
i call him gigantor. not sure how she feels about that!
the twins have wrinkly skin and it cracks me up, because mine never did. The size newborn clothes are all too big for the twins, and my kids went right to 0 - 3 month clothes, no newborn size for them~
hi all

I was over 10 lbs at birth, and my sister in a diabetic pregnancy, had an 11pound, 14 oz baby...
oy - that was the thing - no diabetes for me, just big porkers ;)
lol, tnc
hi all :)
i was only 4 lb, 4 oz but I've more than made up for it!
I say it with much affection!
hi, rae
hi raelite
Hello raelite!
hey, raelite
hi hi hi hi (all in one box)
wow, natasha, you were a peanut, LOL
if I may be so bold as to ask...how did you know you were pregnant?
did you have to test? was it a surprise?
we were trying, so I ped on lots of sticks~
I was pam. 9 weeks early.
*peed
hi everyone
hey, ping!
hi ping
Tea, my kids were the same -- LOL hi all! no diabetes for me, just too many cookies and BIG kids!
hey ping
Hello ping.
hi ping
hi stid
hey stid!
HI all :)
hi ping
hi stid, did you have a fun day in the sunshone yesterday?
hi peri
hi peri - how's the shoulder today?
stidmama, I made my almond cake yesterday and it stuck to the bottom of the pan even though I greased and floured it :(
rae -- I knew I was pregnant when my mammaries began to get really firm and hurt a peculiar way, happened early on each time (had more pregnancies than children), and never unless I was pregnant...
hi all! i scrolled for clues, and got baby weights!
hi peri and feather
HI Tea, still hurts, I have been icing it and doing some exercises I found on line.
and then of course there was the all-day-long sickness for the entire pregnancy... :-(
heyfeather
oh really stid...very interesting....
I have been her off and on, trying not to sit too long at the computer
Well, all those babies were ho7/40's, so they were on topic, right?
poor stid! I was lucky that after the first 12 weeks, I was fine
all day sickness? oh man...that had to bite!
so is anyone here pregnant right now? (besides me that is) i've discovered 2 other preggo babblers so far
I had a lovely day yesterday! thanks! even went out shopping for longer pants for one of the kids. If they only made size ten waist with size 14 length, we'd be in hog heaven with that lanky kid...
not me, no way, no how!
That's right, TNC. If I may say, God Forbid!!! :)
aww..lanky! they grow so fast...not preggers feather...thank goodness!
NEVER again, feather --
uh, yes, even, God forbid!~
we're probably scaring Feather!~
nahhh
I need ni 5/16 to finish, please help!
this is my second time
that's because she only has one!
plural of ni6/30
peri, my almond cake stuck just a little when I made it, but that just meant I got to eat the scrapings! LOL I almost wonder if a springform pan might be a choice?
hi, ping and peri
gooooo bears!!!!
natasha, I just read your reply--that was very early!!! My twin sister and brother were 8 weeks early and each were over pounds. Just over, but still...
nibi
Hey there pam

Clues for anyone?
hi?
hi, scrabbler and stid
ghey scrabbler
please, sugar. COuld you clue the ai6/24?
(that was a request for a clue )
be back in a bit
59 left here on the never ending grid
cya, natasha
by natasha
ai6/24 to help a male
Hi Stid, Pam, et al--I have been here, but I am on call so phone calls have been interrupting Babble.
163 feather... are you still stir-crazy?
ai6 help + male
*hands on hips* the nerve of people having medical needs while you're trying to babble! *hmph*
ty :)
nope, doing better today. been doing some laundry, and delegating tasks to doug. 59 left
at least you haven't had to go in, scrabbler. which hospital?
don't parents realize that weekends are not for medical problems?
lol, tnc
good feather! keep delegating -- this is a skill you will need in about seven more years, when the kids are ready to take on the housekeeping...
there is a couple across the street with a miracle baby
we have pediatric urgent care here, which takes appointments and answers calls on the phone - it's kind of nice
my mom always said she had me so i could fetch things for her
i've always said i had daniel so i had someone to play games with later
How has that worked out for her, feather?
clue for the ad7/44 and 8/60 please?
lol, pretty darn well, unfortunately for me!
LOL vi!
hi 7/36 opp of her +1st vowel + *** maria.
vic are you channeling Dr Phil?
ad7 is like pr8
i never finished, LOL. anyway, i think of you when i see him, scrabbler. he was due in may 06, but born in feb 06...
Hope that helps Inge 2
ad7/44 and 8 end just like pr8 and 9.
hello everyone
mrp! :-)
I hope not, rae!
hi mr president
sugar, the only maria I know is ave maria...not that th
hi, mr p
hi mrp
So far none of the 5 calls in the last 2 hrs have been "urgent". I am recovering from the mother that unleashed her fury on me--she demanded an antibiotic for her baby........it ended with her hanging up on me. Deep cleansing breaths....
Hello mrpresident - nice to see you!
hello mrp! how's life treating you-all these days? I read that the drought is driving bad snakes into the cities over there...
hi mr p!
hi mr p!
No inge2, think of the liquer!
poor scrabbler.
Poor Scrabbler! Hello, MrP.
hi all
lol sugar, got it!
as if she didn't know that antibiotics are not necessary 8- of the time... grrrrr on your behalf, scrabbler
thanks, sugar
{{{Scrabbler}}}
hi everyone who just came in
hello, all who've just signed on
but, Scrab, don't antibiotics cure everything?
Pam, those "ultra" or "micro" premies are amazing! They start out at about 1 lb.
just kidding - I know better
hello hello! the drought is killing everything! the bushfire off the front balcony is more frightening than the snakes right now!
yw
Scrabbler, I can sympathise - taking phone calls from the public can be stressful!
scary, Mrp
yikes, mr.p ! stay safe!
hey, Pam, any lingering problems with the miracle baby?
oh mrp! be careful!
He was at about 1 lb. He now has a double ear infection and bronchiolitis, but is smiling away, LOL. His mom said he is always cheery when he is sick, LOL. His dad is a psychiatrist, so there is a doc around...
I almost cried after that call--I tried so hard to be understanding and to help her, but she wanted something that was not reasonable.
it is huge! and there are 7 aircraft dropping water as we type! another day of 105 degrees I am afraid
some parents are just like that, as are some adult children... grrr.....
{{{{Australia}}}} wish I could send you some rain...
mr p, that is horrid. And, I read and saw flooding in Vic...
As a teacher I got that a lot: parents who think they are trying to help their kids, but they're really going to make things worse.
i am with stid and the hugs....
Bronchiolitis is epidemic right now. Morning hospital rounds included a 5 wk old with it.
scrabbler - **happy thoughts**
At least you know you were in the right - but the wobbly legs after a phone confrontation take some time to ease.
we get a lot of that in the tax office, too. if they are so right, then do it yourself!
we, on the other hand, sometimes decline antibiotics... on the basis of "most small infections seem to resolve themselves" -- but not really huge ones or strep. THOSE we hit with everything we have ... stidmatt had to have several courses to overcome MRSA a couple years back.
there is flooding in the Northern Territories, really bad bushfires throughout Victoria and central NSW is completely burnt out... the Farm is burnt to the ground... so dad doesn't have to 'worry' about clearing anymore
oh man, Mrp - that stinks
poor dad...
TY for your support, I am starting to settle down, esp because Australia has far bigger problems now!
lmao! daniel went up to the dog, pointed his finger and touched her nose, and said "boop"
stid - I'm so glad someone else outt here refuses antibiotics! I thought I was the only one!
Oh dear, mrp!
we do, too, rae
ROFL {{{daniel}}} cute kid!
Oh, mr p, I am sorry about the farm.
yay!
I don't feel so alone anymore
An epidemic, scrabbler? How scary.
mr p - you'll get through it, I'll be sending you rain shortly
i've read stats that anitbiotics are extremely overprescribed in this country, especially to the poor
I think that the overuse of antibiotics is scary. Of course, when I had an undiagnosed bone infection in my jaw, and was put on an ineffective antibiotic, I REALLY appreciated it when the right one worked!
be back in a bit
I always ask "why" do I need this, what are the risks, what will happen if I do something else... what is the normal course with and without... most docs seem to prefer that, it lets them know that I really care and that I want to be involved in decision-making.
darn stinking rain never came yesterday, was forecast for huge rain and it just.... didn't show!... can't see any coming today either! Thanks for the raindance everyone!
I am the same way, stid. I don't present like an "average" patient, though, so I have had some near-lethal infections....
yeah - that you're not going in expecting a prescription
clue for the nu 6 please
We will keep dancing, mr p!!!!!!!
right, raelite
**shaking her "groove thang"
*adds bells and music to dance*
tambourine here
nu 6? hmmmm *looking*
shake it grrl make sure you don't break it grrl
nu 6 is a plural of the nu 5 --
Antibiotics are vital for significant bacterial infections--MRSA is a biggie, and Strep, and others---but not for colds, coughs, etc--- they must be used judiciously--
bells on my shoes here ( :
I
being american indian, I can rain dance ( :
antibiotics should only be used in extreme cases... *my two cents*... agree with scrabbler
I have allergies to some common things, so even some normal medications can cause trouble for me... hence my concern. and stidgrant's really bad reaction to amoxicillin once...
well now we have an authority
Pam---that is scary for you, having serious infections.
you go, girl, grammaterri
come on grammat!! bring on the waterworks
lol ty pam
dance, grammaterri dance!
we can really get this rain dance going!!
are there more than one nu 5?
stid, want a clue for nu6?
*cheering for gramma*
How about snow? We have lots here.
it is scrabbler. I remain afebrile, and have an enormous tolerance to pain. Plus, CNS depressants have little to no effect in the usual dosages, so I am not easy to manage when I have a severe issue
yes stid
melt it and send it where it is needed scrabbler ( :
yes please, sugar...
good thing my doc understands all of this, though, and that I am lucky enough to have health insurance, or I would be in deep trouble
pl the nu5, stid
but the nu 5 I have doesn't plural!
back to the grid for me 105 left, blessings babblers!
i assume you have the nu5?
nu+ letter before C + EYE + first letter
pam, I have chronic Osteo Myalitis... they found one that works... intravenous antibiotics for 8 weeks at a time!
there is only one nu 5 -
oh -- wait. *blush* yes it did...
*sigh*
chronic, mr p? I am sooooo sorry.....
yes it does, stid, there are only 2xnu/5's
yay, stid!
oh mrp --- I am sorry!
clue for ad8,60 please
mr p...that is harsh! good health wishes to you!!
okay, so now I need another nu5...
I had a pain in my jaw that turned out to be a hole the size of a quarter in my jawbone from a root canal gone bad. They were shocked when they found the hole....
nu5?Thanks
my brother had that too, Pam
that sounds serious, mr. p
oh pam... wow.
ad8/68 change the 1st 3letters of pr8/60
And, of course, there was some blame the patient going on. I had pain. I never had swelling or a fever or ignored it and the endodontist really had a hard time believing that!
Yikes, Pam!
eek! just got beaned with a tennis ball! he's playing catch with the dog. and she's actually listening sometimes when he says "drop it"
LOL, feather
chronic... it is continually coming back and I have to have treatment every year to 18 months.... they just can't get rid of the stuff out of my bones
good for daniel!
exact same thing happened to my brother - they couldn't believe he didn't feel it
realite, hope your brother healed as well as I.
nu5/16 nu+2nd letter+ 2 vowels
And now, he has to be mindful of how he presents, raelite...

hello everyone ....any clues for the next to last pr6/33 please?
proman
hello mo
'allo mo!
excuse me!
pam, tell the endon to FO... it took a team of so called specialists to determine that my screaming pain wasnt in my head.... I really hate when doctors think they know everything
bush seems pretty pr 6/33...
hi mo , try opp of anti + fighting
well, I have got three more words in the last however long I've been on. Going to go watch football and knit, instead.
thanks for all the help, friends!
scrabbler, it gets better. THe pain meds wore off sooner than they thought, and I had to BEG the pharmacy to fill my script before others that came in. It was unbelievable. The doc told my partner that the meds would last the hour or so we needed. They lasted 1 minutes...
later stid
i'm watching football right now stid
Oh, mr p, that just sucks. Now, I am very clear with docs. ...
bye stid
bye for now stid!
bye, stid
bye stid
hurshy and sugar thank you both.
hey Biltong, how are you?
you guys must be good at this game. I have 189 words left to find and I'm absolutely stuck
bye stid
yw mo
we cheat, arwenn ;)
bye stid.
yeah, we pretty much rock the house
ok thanks sugar, and you?
Good evening mo.
lol
lol TnC
I like Hurshy's answer better
arwennn, are you in love with aragornnn?
hi, mo
hi Haz.
arwenn, have you been using lickety's list? if not, that will help, then you can ask for clues, which is how we get so far!
and pam.
he's pretty cool, but I'm actually in love with a guy named ericcc
lickety's list?
hmmm.... well good, more aragorn for me then
bottom left of the screen, under friend's of babble
isn't every woman (and probably some men) in love with "the hot blonde with the bow"!!!!!!
clues are listed like sa4/8, which means the word starts with sa, is 4 letters long, and 8 points
eh, legolas doesn't really do it for me
take a number, hursh!
sugar, scruffy dude with the sword for me
lol I've liked legolas since way before the movies
do you need glasses hursh!
warns
can I ask for help with the first sa6/21 please?
I typed that in the wrong box, sorry
oh well, MUCH more hot blonde for me then!
that's okay - that's how we cheat!
as a matter of fact, i DO need glasses. but, even with them on, i still don't really go for legolas. but aragorn... when he pushes open those doors esp...
I just found yummy sa6/21... better when it is white hungarian too
love the h7! what a nice surprise
Clue for the pr8 and 9 please?
sa 6?? - have hawaiian food
oh, yes, the doors - that's worth the whole movie!!! and 'hi
you'll have enough competition for the blond bowman
biltong, to disallow and pl
no, no! He's all mine!
pr 8 & 9: banishes (think 1920's when liquor was banned)
aah, ty sugar. I can't believe I spent so much time searching for it!
cyber ... dont know hawaiian food!
hola mrp!
goodness gracious - anyone watching this football game?
yes takuma... what a run!
mo, sa+vowel+shot form of 60 seconds
also just found the sausage
hey smooth
Oh, yeah. My husband's quite a Bears fan.
i mean... what a run after the pass!
hi TnC!
holy moly!
sugar -- that is the hawaiian delicacy
yep, bears fan here, out of loyalty for a friend
hi smooth, where ya been all day?
but would you have labor induced so he could go to a bears game
I know nan, but mo isn't getting it.........
poor guy, jan... for them to come so far only to hgave their seaspn fall apart in the second half (at least, that's my prediction.;)
nope!
watching football, sugar... I was on earlier, though
heh, hurshy -- that's fandom
thanks, sugar
Uuuuh, no. But I'm not sure he wouldn't suggest it....
sugar thank you I have it now.
me too smooth, just managed to finish!
i only ask because a woman in chicago did, on friday. i posted it earlier in the log.
good for you mo
Not that I'm not expecting. I'm a 3 time grandma.
I think I saw you earlier only for a minute or two, though
stranger things have happend, janiece!
I really struggled with this grid, took me forever!
great, my kids are watching a show on how to defend yourself agains a wedgie!! I didn't know there was such a thing as an 'atomic wedgie'! LOL
Don't start the whole preganancy and babies thread again, hurshy, or you'll have to flee!
it's a rough grid today
Eeek! But I married into being a grandma. Never had kids of my own. Boy would that be a shock!
me too sugar!!!!
lol Mr. P... I remember that from the 80.s lol
There's something weird about sports that way. You don't hear about women having labor induced in order to go to a play
good point vi.
Mr. P, the atomic wedgie is a myth. None have been spotted in the wild.
don't sweat it mo, ask for clues!
that's because women are more level headed about these things ;)
yeah, but you on't get the same adreniline rush from watching dance of the sugarplum faries, as you do from watching favre annihilate da bears
LOL!! looks bloody painful!
lol smooth
sugar I amm not sweating any more I finished with your clue thank you.
this is true, smooth
well done, mo!!
YAY mo!!!!! Congrats!
my 10 times typed already phantom ...sultanas
That's because the play gets performed multiple times, each game only once.
thanks ....takes a bow!!!
yay, mo!
Of course, each kid gets born only once, too, so you'd think that would be at least equally important...
and each game has the potential to be legendary... once you've heard beethovan's 5th, even if you like the music, you know how its gonna end. lol
that's waht TIVO is for!
lol
Congrats, mo......
ty pida.
Clue for ad5/20 please?
What's TIVO?
yay, mo...
!!!!!
digital video recording, mo
ad 5 ... a + not up.
a + opp of up, Biltong
oooooh!
it's a device that records tv as you watch it, so you can go back and watch the great parts right then and there
wo5 and wo6
ty, mo and sugar
is like wizard binoculars
yw Biltong
Okay, okay smooth, i got it!!!!!!!!lol
femaleperson, then plural, scrabbler
lmao, hursh
thanks, pam
sure, tnc
TY--a bug duh!
I lOVE my DVR. I ahve had to make some changes in my lifestyle, and redo my budget, but I have kept my DVR and on demand, and it has been nice.
lol, scrabbler!
I love mine, too, Pam - I go to bed early with the kids sometimes, and like to catch up opn my shows while they are napping.

bye sugar, sleep well
Yahooooo Nan.
anyone want a clue before I leave?
I need 148 clues, please. Do you have time?
How about bo6/24 and 7/36 please, cyber?
lol, scrabbler
lol scrabbler
bo 6/7 combo -- spanish lady's name?
bo + lice egg + vowel
ty cybernan :)
I did great with the bottom half of the grid--lots of easy words, but I have been like a tortoise for the last 2 hrs, thinking about giving up.
sorry scrabbler -- which do you want first ;)
I will be back later. Work beckons...
un 5/18 please?
lol -- been at it for 5 hours, scrabbler -- should have gone to the list earlier!
That is OK, Nan--I just need to look at the list and hunt.
I am going to try to get halfway and I still need about 20 to get there!
bye pam
un 5: took back raising hand at the auction
ty :)
tomorrow's theme is robots -- think I'll post a pic of myself!
lol, nan. Is that how you feel?
right now it is!
must be off now , to have an early night ... I think a cold is on its way!!!! GOODNIGHT ALL.
night mo, sleep well. Take care.
hope you feel better Mo
goodnight mo -- hope you are feeling better in the morning :)
How are you doing with the grid ren8?
Mo ==get some zinc lozenges
thanks you all ... Night Nurse is what I need. byeee.
I'm away as well -- good luck, everyone!
90 left but going to give up in a minute, work tomorrow, how you getting on Biltong
bye, nan.
ob 6 and 7??
bye nan
sorry Scrabbler, don't have those yet
151 left, I am going to try and get halfway.
ob 6/24: ob + "not first" -- don't have the seven *vanishes again*
ob7 - lating pl of ob6
Latin pl, that is.
ob 6: o + bomb going off -- add a vowel for the 7
ty, stid and nan
TY Stid and Vicuna and nan
and Vi :)
nu5 and 6?
weboggle still hanging up a lot. be back if it stays stuck 8-)
No problem, Biltong. I didn't feel slighted. No, not at all. Even though you left me out. But I was fine. Yeah, don't worry about me. I can just sit here and have everyone ignore me. I don't mind...
nu + bi4/6, but drop the last letter and then pl
(just kidding, of course.)
love you, Vi :)
:)
TY Biltong. And Vicuna, I fully appreciate you and Iove you.
my post was a bit garbled, but I knew you would get it :)
ni5 and 6 (Scrabbler shows a suspicious pattern of begging shamelessly for clues)
Thanks, Scrabbler! As Eeyore would say, "You're a Real Friend. Not like Some." ;)
hello again. can i have a clue for ho 6 please
LOL Vicuna!
ni6/30 - like a halo or cloud around something, ni5 - is it's latin pl
lol, Scrabbler. I am benefitting from your begging.
Can I have help with the st7 word Thanks
ho6= Ho***y Doodie, but change the spelling--it is a Texan way of saying hello
nimbus
Yup, that's it, magzel!
thanks, Mag!
Now try its Latin pl!
TY my dear, dear friend, Vicuna, for that perfect set of clues.
Which sounds like the Acronym Not In My Back Yard.
Okay, Scrabbler, now you're just overdoing it! :P
As spoken to all unwelcome neighbours' animals.
Sorry, my nose is brown.
thanks scrabbler.
lol!
whoa! anyone see that? interesting bears touchdown!
na5?
this is a terribly hard grid today. i have been here all day
na5 - Your na5 Day is your birthday
This grid will be the death of me!
I was just thinking about becoming a couchpotato and watching the Australian Open (tennis)
i know how you feel magzel still got 70 to find
ni5/16?
TY Vicuna--that was in a recent grid and I missed it then too.
phantom: nimrod
Yes, I "saw" that too, TNC.
ni5/16 - see clues at 4:29
Hello All Can I have help with the st7 plese
ni5,16 is latin pl of ni6
especially with your day!
And another phantom is DIMWIT--to fit with my theme today
I don't have it, speedfreak.
thanks scrabbler and vi
;)
OK, I am hypothermic--time for hot tea and another layer of clothes. It was 4 degrees this AM!
i am finally going to leave this grid for today, night all
Goodnight ren.
night ren, sleep well.
Bye ren8
Bye, ren8.
Have you finished Haz?
I bet Hazel finished hours ago.
No, Biltong, I've 75 left. Husband needed help with typing stuff so that has slowed me down. It's a conspiracy today. Daughter commandeered the computer for hours this afternoon.
Haz any chance you would have the st7 word
It's a very weird grid.
That is just plain WRONG, Hazel. Babble takes priority.
hi again. whazaaaap?
Not yet, but I'll look. (I know about priorities, Scrabbler, the rest of the household needs educated!)
Hear, hear, Scrabbler!
Fireworks!
You need a dedicated Babble computer, and then one for the others.
well done, Merk!!
Yipppeeee Merk!
Merk please clue the st7 I know I am obsessive but I have been monkey typing forever
I am wo5 hear me roar! Well... Am close to calling this one a day--but can't call it Tuesday 'cause it's existence is still in question!
lol, mom23. Today "Sun" is in the grid. Does that count to justify today's existence?
I've found it (st7) - it ends in a shortened form of mother.
If there's babbling being done, today's existence is justified!
st, the two letter word used in similes, a vowel and shortened mother.
It's a choral ode in ancient Greek tragedy.
st 7 st + 1st vowel + another s 4 word.
Thanks, Haz! Ancient Greek choral odes, I might have known!
ty, Haz
Don't thank me, thank morewords!
Wow I am impressed how did you ever get that even the definition is weird!!
very nivc clue, Haz--thanks. Hi, everyone--snowing in Colorado today--as usual
*nice
hey "satan" is on the puzzle... creepy
hi miranda
More than one of them, too, mcscotty.
This grid about did me in. Now is the first time I've been able to read clues and its after I'm finished. The internet does not work in China during the day. I have to open the screen and work on paper, hoping for the best. Then I can get on the internet if I get up at 4 AM and type my words in and see what I'm still lacking.
Glad to help.
well, I'm calling it a day at halfway. Bye everyone.
yikes
Am I addicted, you ask?
Bye, bilt
Bye Biltong - see you tomorrow at some stage.
Bye, Biltong!
Ha, Merk--no need to ask, right?
I am so dependent on your help here and there along the way, it is cruel and unusual punishment to be deprived of it while I'm here. Something about an earthquake breaking a cable off Taiwan.
time to get ready to watch the Patsies and Colts. Hubby's got his Teddy Bruschi shirt on for luck. remaining words will have to get by without knowing me! 'til the morrow, kids.
Bye mom. Have a good afternoon/evening.
st5/10? monkeying isn't doing it.
st5/10 - nasty when you get it on clothes
st 5/10 = like a pet st*** on your carpet
I just found it when you hinted it. THanks haz and dazzle
No problem, Minski.
I have three weeks left here. Thankfully I keep busy and love my work. Slight problem this go around, I have developed an rash of sorts. It is blister-like postules on my forearms. I've had to stop my swims that I do for exercise, stop eating foods new to me, and hope it's not the laundry detergent.
That doesn't sound pleasant, Merk. Would the detergent not affect all of your body?
That's my thinking, but wouldn't the food, too? Someone thought the pool water, but no one else is affected. I know it's not bedbugs. I recognize that having run into them twice before in the U.S.
I - I mean just one - 1 little 7 letter word. Help please. I need ST7??
If you have an allergy to something it wouldn't necessarily affect your whole body. Is it itchy?
I'm just thankful it's winter and I have long sleeves to cover some ugly looking sores. Never had anything like it before in my life. I am taking steroid tablets and using a cream. Does this mean that I'm going to look like Barry Bonds?
gramma - clued a little while ago - st, the two letter word used in similes, a vowel then a shortened form of mother.
I clued it earlier Gramma. It is st+ 1st vowel + another s4 word.
I clued it earlier Gramma. It is st+ 1st vowel + another s4 word.
I've no idea who Barry Bonds is, but by the sound of it you don't want to end up resembling him.
TY. I wasn't reading the log before.
He's the baseball player in the US who hit so many homeruns and was accused of using steroids.
Along with Mark McGuire
It seems to me only fair that if you can inhibit something, you ought to be able to hibit it first.
It's not often we have this many non-words in a grid. We had one a short time ago that was also a killer.
Time for breakfast. tty tomorrow
merk, TY for that. I mean the barry bonds thing. i keep hearing his name but never hear what the big deal was
Time for breakfast. tty tomorrow
The problem is that you won't know what cures it - the cream or the tablets.
Bye merk.
enjoy your raw fish and rice, merk! 8-)
po5,14 anyone?
po5/14 - the latin plural for a platform
haz, can you dumb that down a bit? LOL
Okay - use three letters of where the pea grows, then two vowels. The singular platform usually ends in um.
platform? I would have said lectern (i figgered it out)
Probably lectern would be better.
TY tho!
ra6/18, I have the plural one
ra6/18 - sounds like a description to go along with rolling.
pr6,33, the second one? (got the little shrimpy things)
Start with the rodent, end with the first three letters of a word, the shortest distance between two objects being a straight one.
pr6/33 - one who is in favour of battle
pr6/33 its just the plural form of another words
thx. haz
You're welcome.
is there anything you can do to help a blister go away faster?
hmmm, the one before the 2nd pr6 is a pr4 -- it's a plural?
hurshy, bury a potato.
pr6/33 - start with the pr4/9 and add vowel and then a consonant
bury a potato???
No, it's a part of a boat (the pr before the 'hawk')
don't pop it
i know don't pop it, but what CAN i do?
pr3 = ahhh, in favor of mass slaughter of one country on another. (plural indeed!) LOL
pr6 - pr4 + m**e(female horse)
hurshy, you can pop a blister in some cases. don't squeeze, though, use a needled that has been wiped with Hydrogen Peroxide to sterilize it
how do you know which cases? and what about the potato?
if i bury a potato, i'll just get more potatoes...
Forget the potato, it'll have precisely no effect. What caused your blister and how big is it?
You say that like it's a bad thing, hurshy. Dontcha like potatoes?
the potato is a joke, old folklore "cure." if blister is fairly small i would not be afraid to puncture it. treat it like a scrape afterward: use a Band-Aid and stuff
i love potatoes, but i want my blister to go away. it was caused by a little piece of plastic on the inside of my shoe. it is approx 1 cm in diameter.
that's a good sized blister. you might want a padded bandage to go over it
Sit down with a big platter of french fires (or mashed potatoes, or latkes, or whatever you like best ) and you will forget all about your blister for a while...
I would use the sterile needle method, and cover it up.
try using some antiseptic ointment and a bandaid on it. Usually you don't pop them because the fluid inside is protecting from infection
french fries, I mean. French fires might burn out of control.
Am I helping yet?
lol, thank you one and all for the advice. i'll save the potatoes for tomorrow, as i just ate dinner.
wait, how big is a centimeter again
1st ro6 please
maybe it's only 1/2 a centimeter
Just under half an inch.
i'm so bad at estimating
The first ro6 is a male interested in fish?
crazy former bulls player dennis, doxy
thx hurshy
i'm not any better at estimating in english measurments than metric. i'm just a bad estimator.
one cm is about 1/2 inch.
it's about the size of a pea. that is easier.
if you don't have any hydrogen peroxide (which is very cheap, in first aid section of any grocery store) you can use rubbing alcohol
You would make a good ro6. Their estimates of catches are notoriously generous.
i have hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol.
hurshy, if ya took that blindfold off you could measure it LOL
use the hydrogen peroxide
i could measure it, but then i would have to get up and find a measuring device
and by the time i'm at the measuring device, i'm at the peroxide, and might as well just go for it.
I would recommend getting some neosporin ointment or some kind of triple antibiotic ointment
wishing you luck with the puncturing, hurshy!
ooh i think i have antibiotic ointment
the peroxide won't burn like alcohol
right, use peroxide if you have the choice.
lol, sorry for the grossness, and thanks again, ttfn
You haven't seen grossness until you've seen the pictures on the front of veterinary magazines.
hey, there's a rerally sick idea for an icon theme LOL
well i am starting off well .. can anyone clue the first ad word?
ad - remember the era when America was dry of alcohol? Use the ending of the word associated with that time.
prohibition haz/
ro6,24 anyone?
ahhhhh got it
Yes, but take off the last three letters..... (sorry, it wasn't precise enough a clue)
ro 6 is that weird basket ball player dennis ..... the one who got married and wore a wedding dress, married himslef
no haz your clue was great my brain is in looooow gear today
Well, just to keep the theme going, that pr word is in the grid...
aknit, TY, i used to work in a bookstore and we had his book, o/w i would have said WTF???? LOL
haz i was looking for the tion part of the word .lol
any I clues
didn't know he could read, let alone write
It's a strange grid, that's for sure.
most celebrity books are not written by the celebrity
wans
sometimes publishers are honest enough to admit this, like a book by Joe Blow "with" Jane Blaine
ack, does hydrogen peroxide bleach things, or am i only thinking that cause i'm confusing it with the fact that you can't mix them or you'll make a deadly vapor??
any clues for im 5/12 and in 7/40?
Isn't hydrogen peroxide used in hair dye?
hurshy, it won't blean things, but still, don't spill it all over the place! (It'll be okay on your sink)
hydrogen peroxide in the form you buy at the grocery store will not bleach anything
oh no!!!
how do clues work?
oh phew
i spilt some on my new jeans, that's all
(sorry, still need most of the i woids)
im 5/12 like am5/12
in7 = in + bu5
no worries hursh, it will only eat a giant hole in them when you wash them !!!!
mebbe you shouldn't pop yourself while you're at the keyboard 8-)
:O
hope it is not in a "sensitive" spot
oh no again!!!!!!!!!!
i didn't, gwen, i went away, and it's done now.
it hurts a lot less now, so thanks.
glad to hear it. now let blister look ugly while it heals. (seriously)
but but will it really eat a hole in my jeans when i wash them???
hands hurshey a lollipop for being sooo brave
teasing hursh teasing
hurshy, only if you waash them with a potato (joke!)
i thought so but had to make sure
peroxide is in the laundry soaps that have bleach alternatives
lol
could wreck havoc on your thighs though.... cause them to triple in size over night
ok, i'm not THAT gullible
checks gullibitlity meter
is that a word??
gullibility is a word...
part of me wants to go bury a potato just to cover all the bases...
measures a person's ability to impersonate a gull?
lol babble
oh my, sa 5/16 not a nice word!
oh no, i forgot to measure it first. well, how big IS a pea?
why, what does it mean?
petit pea. lesseur pea. sugar snap pea?
like, a regular old green pea
actually, i think the potato superstition is for moles. or maybe warts. your mileage may vary
i thought sa5/16 was the name of a character in some book...
i have some moles i want to get rid of too, so either way...
it is however the word is a slang / slam of a black person
It is, hurshy -- a dear little boy in India
this led to a long conversation last night in chat
Hi all!
yes we won't go there
hi jilli
hi jilli, you're half in the grid today
no, 5/8
I saw that, hursh! - lol
how big is a peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeea?
original story was about a boy in India, but the meaning and usage have evolved a lot since it was published, which was about 120 years ago
the size or the end of your little finger
hurshy, 1 cm!! LOL
really, so i was right in the first place
or the size of the peeeeeeeeeeeea depends on how much you have to drink!!
clue for the 9?
i think there is another book with a char by that name too
i go look
don't have it yet jean sorry
ok, I have 179 others you can helpme with :-)
pr8/9 -- ban(s)
hahaha i have 196!! so you have to help me
ty jill
la 6/27 and the2nd la 6/21-any hints?
ok lay it on me!
it IS, in the beginning of George MacDonald's tale of wee Sir Gibbie, there is a character named sa5/16
la6/27 cute little sheepie
la 6/21 latin pl, regular pl
yw, esprit
yes i am a cute little la 6 aren't i LOL
ty hurshy
TIme to go - goodnight all!
yes you are aknitter
night haz
hi ho folks!
night haz
and i must go play psych eye spy
kristin!!
night haz
hi there aknitter...been a long time! :)
So this is like Scroggle, but with Chat?
i have been around, mostly lurking
slat
aha...one of them :) been good though?
hi again
I have vr4/11 what are the other two V's please?
i am a very good lurker!! LOL
suki...I don't know Scroggle but Boggle...yes
hi natasha
jean i am on the vo hunt myself not too successful i might add
vo=to get sick and throw up, then plural
other v's--to throw up
Hi all.
got one ak...vo*** to puke
Difference with Scroggle is that you use the mouse to select the words instead of typing, and the layout looks more like Bookworm with shifted tiles.
add an s jean to make more of a mess to clean up!
suki...then yep, sounds just about right
evening jac
hi jacula!
Hursh - for all the info you need on Helen Bannerman, the author of the LBS books & other little 'LB' books, and more, go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Ban nerman
hi jac
yes got it
Anyone need any help? I finished earlier on today.
I think the ni6/30 is my favorite word on this grid (so far at least)
su 6/30 would be nice jac
ni 6 30 too natasha
harry potter's broom was a ni**** 2000
ak - su6/30 & verb form 7 = to give in to. A wrestler might su6 to another.
ni6/30 is a type of cloud - cumulus ni****.
li6/21?
ty jac i kept seeing nimrod
wonder why...
thx for the clue jac. I finally have all the 7's
li6/21 is the plural of li5 before it, which is li + male
LOL, ak.
y/w, doxy.
ty jacula
ad7?
Speaking of books, as I was a while ago to Hursh (though she's not here, it seems), I've been reading some extracts from a book called 'Lost in Translation'. It's about mangled English in foreign places.
like "tootle him with vigor"
i'm too sloooooooooow
night all.... i made it to 68 left..... but i 'm gone for the night...
Take care and I'll check in later this week
hi Jac
night arlene
i'm trying to be the fastest at psych eye spy jac, so, i'm not really here
night arlene
ad7 & verb form mean to take in, attach or apply. Same ending as an in***** word (not in grid) that means you might feel you can't do something for some reason.
natasha the ad 7 is like the pr8 and 9 word
Hi jilli.
jac -- I've seen those "Lost in Translation" things -- priceless, but I have a topper.
st 7 please
What's that, jilli?
thanks jac, that's a new word for me
Back in the Win 3.1 days I had a scanner and got htis notification one time:
Finally got that last word ho8 !! for Fireworks
Congratulations, flosey!
TWAIN ERROR Sorry, detailed error status returns success
st7 has to do with Greek drama. st + vowel + s4 word.
so flosey congrats on fireworks care to share that ho8
Well done, flosey.
YAY flosey!!! I still have 115 left!
hubby helped me there - a science fiction author - exstudent, wrote a book ho8
ty jac lookig
Jilli - My favourites from the list I just read were - Austria: Not to perambulate the corridors in the hours of repose in the boots of ascension.
ho8 - meaning human like
ho 8 -- add a part of an hour, abbr, and, perhaps, you will find this clue v*** for vagueness
homial
oops
if you have ho8 and a vowel third last letter
And - Poland: As for the tripe served you at the Hotel Monopol, you will be singing its praises to your grandchildren on your deathbed.
19 left, all S words
Jac -- that's lovely!
if you have ho7, add a vowel third last letter
back to the grid...
jilli - 'the boots of ascension' has a certain ring to it, don't you hink?:-)
*think
One final one - Madrid, Spain: Our wine list leaves you nothing to hope for.
ho7/40 - homo sapiens is the last surviving member of this family. ho8/55 is related.
yes indeed. It reminds me of a short poem by F.R. Scott, a Montrealer. You hve to understand that in those days there were a lot of Roman Catholic holidays in Quebec (not so much now). I'll look it up and enter it here when I find it.
ho8 has the same ending as the medical names for 'piles'.
Thanks, jilli.
*name, not names.
HI all clue for the hi7 please
Hi peri. hi7 = that male + vowel (definite article) + first part of a drink, *** Maria.
BRB - luandry to hang up.
thanks Jacula,new word for me
BONNE ENTENTE The advantages of living with two cultures Strike one at every turn, Especially when one finds a notice in an office building: 'This elevator will not run on Ascension Day'; Or reads in the Montreal Star:
in 7 please will not finish but will hopefully have al the long words
NM monkeys woke up and helped with that one :)
mi 7 please
Jilli--love the poem!
'Tomorrow being the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, There will be no collection of garbage in the city'; Or sees on the restaurant menu the bilingual dish: DEEP APPLE PIE TARTE AUX POMMES PROFONDES
Sorry about the break in the middle - forgot to hit Shift
wonderful!
hi evryone! : )
hi owl!

hi everyone
His other work was more serious

114 left to find -- back to the grid...
Hi TO. Some 'i' words for you. im4 & plural 5 - Muslim leaders. in7 - inherent. ib4 - a wading bird.
im5 like am5 acids
im4 - like the ti5 (shy) word.
im5 following that (my clue) - add a round vowel.
Hi Luwanda.

hi luwanda!
TO is that the in7?

That's quite a cheer, TO!
Leave out the comma space and it's even better!
2nd ra6/18 = rodent + little Mrs. Mac. (late wife of a divorcing Beatle.)

ra6 - ra (critter) + shortened girls name
Hello, TO! :)

Well done, doxy.
well done doxy!
wtg, doxy!
Hi everybody. Just lurking in the background here. Home alone, so I am multitasking.
this was an awful one. Took me all day (except when I had to go to work)
hi there inge!
Yes, this is not going quickly!
Hi inge.
ad7/ 8 clue, please? ty
A wo6/33's work is never done, eh Inge?!
ad7 and 8 ends like pr8 and 9, if you have those
lol Jacula, indeed
how come wo 6/33 can be plural? Not what I learned in English class
TO - ad & & 8 end like pr8 & 9 (to not allow/to ban).
the dictionary disapproves also
Maybe it's like "persons" instead of "people"!
inge - yes, there should be an apostrophe either penultimately or afterwards.
Or maybe it's a more PC way to say "She womans the telephone at the hotline."
ty jsca now i have the pr -s till working on the ad : /
And yes, I did just type the stupid word straight into the chatlog. Sigh. Sorry.
ah vi owes jean $1
TO - for the 'ad' words just add the letters after the 3rd letter of the 'pr' words.
How come jean gets the cash, anyway?
Oops, Vi!
ty weird word
is Jean going to throw a party with that money --party for all of us!
what cashola?
This whole darn grid is one big oops, as far as I can tell.
you're right, vi...it's my dau top ge the cash LOL
Will there be pr5/20 cocktail?
...and sa6/21 sausages?
TO, I have NO idea what you're trying to type! lol
Hi all...this grid is hard. Anyone have a clue for AI6/24? And what's today's icon?
i mena it's MY day to get the cash - geez!
al6/24 - melanin deficient Grid theme: musicians
Hi joy. Yes. ai6/24 is ai* (to help or assist) + male.
al 6: person or animal that has no skin color
OWLLLLLLLLLLLERY!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh. Now I get it, TO!
Vicuna, you phrased it so elegantly
OOps! Can't tell me l's from my i's. *Cleans specs.*
Thanks, Jacula. I just learned a new word!
nutsy, how did the icestorm hit Butler and New Castle??
No, you were right, Jacula. I was looking for the AI, not the AL.

Well, inge, it was that or another "Princess Bride" reference!

hey ren. how's the grid treating you?
slow axe - slow
TO - You'll habe to make do with having a wo4/11 instead (unless you've had a hysterectomy).
isn't wombit a baby wombat? lol

We got to meet him when he performed here a few years ago--so friendly and gracious!
Now that I'm properly musical, I need some more clues...I'm missing the H7's and 8
ty jacula
Thanks so much Jacula. I was trying to add a letter everywhere else.

Hi TNC, well I'm in good company
hi wren! i think i may be ready to throw in the towel myself
it is past 1am here
I have 90 to find and I think I don't like this grid -- too many obscure words
thx :)
yikes wren...my accuracy in babble decreases as the night wears on :)
help please i have no m words fromt he bottom right m - each time i type one in it comes off the other one!
Hi lbd & ExWren. I was off having a quick Weboggle.
temple, owl ike's wife is a m word, it works from that corner
TO - ma5/18 - a dance. Ma*** No.5?
ma5/14 - Eisenhower's wife.
ma4/5 - that male's.
ty
No, the male one isn't from that 'm'. Sorry.
brb, i'll be fast since my bath will be cold
how is blamo not a word?
I guess you've all got the mi7/44 from the middle 'm'? A vehicle with quite a few seats.
the b's are tamed
brr...cold bath..brr!
TNC - try knocking off the 'o' for one word and adding a pluraliser for the next.
thx, Jac
y/w, TNC.
thanks jac for the many seated vehicle
brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Damn! WeBoggle site's gone belly up again just I had had another Babbler join me to help.
y/w, lbd.
that was a quickie nut!
nutsy, are you babbling while taking a cold bath???
TNC, I think it's spelled BLAMMO!
ooops! :)
ad 7?
ad7 - just like pr8, if you have that
ty!
ad + ending of pr 7 meaning to forbid
ho6/36 - How a cowboy might greet you (usually ends in just a 'y'). 'Ho**** pardner!'
la6/30 - little sheep + little father.
I meant pr 8 like Vicouna said
whew . . . fireworks!!!
nope ingy, done that fast, we have no hot water
la6/27 - little sheep + 'for example' abbreviation.
Yay for Une!
well done une!
Well done, Une.
did I miss an earlier report on lack of electricity in Butler?
whoo hoo Une
bravo UNE!
Nut - no idea what your convo with Inge was about but, from reading your last post, it sounds like you use Babble pedal power to generate your electricity! LOL.
nope ingster, this seems to be a 'very local problem', could be the only residence in chicora without hot water
Nutsy, I can offer you lots of firewood to warm up your water
i'd have plenty then, but no jac, something very suddenly, (like just as i drew my bath) died in my water heater
hi all, i'm STILL trying to work out the bo's. help
i have five running cords, thanks ingster
Was just trying random clues before, btw, to help those still in need.
Oh dear, nut! Hope it's sorted soon.
yep...helped me...thanks jac!
y/w, kristinc.
bo 6: Spanish word for little good
bo5 sometimes an employee gets a year-end bo***
yikes! sorry to hear that nut :(
bo6 and 7 spanish for pretty
have that one - need the others. thx
if not jacula, our neighbor has a business called dr. water heater
That's handy, nut!
i'll say jac, and my mom claims he's reasonably priced so i'm not too worried, except i'd rather spend the money on me
all three bo words were clues, the bo 6 just gets puralized
ewwww, i hate bo
*clued*
Well, obviously you would, nut. There's the Caribbean cruise to go on for starters. But you need warm water in the meantime...
i got a stove top and some pots
So, nut, the cruise wins then?
um...sure, soon as i can pay for it
brb, car in drive?
Can I come, too?
When you can afford it.
okay, nut.
Wonder who's visiting nut unexpectedly? Unless it's just some cheeky devil using her drive as a turning point...
Maybe someone is bringing her a new hot water heater!!!
Maybe, inge.
Shall I go back to random clueing for now, or does anyone need anything specific?
hi7?
how about the li 6/21 that is not the plural?
random cluing, please :D
wait...wait...LA, not li
lbd - hi7 = 'that man' + vowel (definite article) + start of a drink *** Maria.
here's my dog dealing with the cold :-)
kristinc - la6/21 = little sheep + little father.
aww...I feel like doing that sometime! :)
la 6: those people crossing the border from the south
tws my mil, she brought homemade stickybuns
LOL, Une. I think most of us know just how he feels!
:-D
jac...did you see, I messed up and asked for the wrong one...I needed the li 6/21 that is not plural (so embarassed)
une, my cat does that mid summer
Ah, nutster! We were wondering. Sharing them out, are you?
poor kitty!
um....*sigh*, i suppose so...
I did, kristinc - and clued appropriately.
li 6: sexual drive in psychology
Be gracious, nut... *grins*
clue ofr do5/14 please? ty
okay...got it...thanks folks!
*holds out sticky bun to jac* OOPS, oh no jac, sorry, didn't mean to land it sticky side down in your lap!!!
do 5: do + ***practice suit
TO - do5/14 = do + little Malcolm.
Aw, thanks Nut. Pity I'm wearing white trousers today.
BRB - need to change trousers for nightie.
can i get a clue for na please?
so so so so sorry jac, lemme just *scrapes sticky bun off of jacs lap with spatula and deposits it on plate*...ah there, that's better
na 5: your birth outfit?
eating so close to bedtime, this means funny dreams
na 5: pertaining to a person's birth
Thanks, nut.
thanks inge.
i hate this grid
Funny dreams are always good for a laugh.
pleasure jac, anything for a babbler
True, Vi!
yes vic, and for a lot of yawns at work
I've only managed 120 words, but I will have to retire gracefully, it's past 1.30am. Goodnight all - time you turned in to Jacula
If I'm woken out of a dream I'm always way more tired.
ta ta ex
Goodnight, ExWren.
*too
well done anyhow wren...niters!
i habe't yet had dinner. unless you count a bag of doritos and six hershey's kisses.
'Night Wrennie. See you again soon.
night-night, X Wren
Hmm... Maybe it is time the rest of us turned into Jacula! lol
i count macaroni and cheese and a stickie bun, so sure 72
LOL, Vic.
that was breakfast. less the mac & cheese.
back to finish up
ggod night, wren
hi feather
i see harry potters first broom made the grid
hi ho feather!
night wren, hi Feather
Hi feather.
Indeed it did, nut!
Hey, again, feather.
clue for hi 7 please?
TO - I thought I'd clued the hi7 for you?
A whole team's worth of them!
ad7 anyone?
there are so many almost-words here like nubile but there's no e where it belongs -- aarrrggghhh
ad7 - same as pr8, if you have that!
harry potter's first broom? which one is that?
I particularly want rhombus.
ah yes, so there is! guess that would be the slytherin team
ni 6/30 feather
feather - ni6/30 - the cloud, cumuls ni****.
ni6/30 and the pl ni5/16 - brand of Quidditch broomstick
oh, right! had it, just couldn't think which was his broom
going to turn in myself. Gute Nacht Babblers
night, inge
ta ta ingy thingy!
night inge
Guten Nacht, inge.
goodnight inge! :)
Gute Nacht, ingchen!
night inge
night inge
yay! got my new wireless mouse! no more cord!
limbo
aw crap!
I planted about 40 pots of bulbs up in December and put them on top of the g/pig hutch in the rabbit shed. My mi4/5 irises are flowering already!
I got a cordless battery free mouse
nut - there's another dance that ends like that - ma5/18 No.5.
i broke my last one. dropped the laptop sideways, it landed on the usb stick. didn't seem to like that much, stopped working the next day
*sigh*, thank you jac, i suppose i couldn't expect to be unteased for that one
t's great it costed $35AU (however it is a genericy brand, though it does has some software with it that can do cool things). I love it. (oh it has 5 buttons too :D)
laptops are very sensitive, feather.
Oh, were you typing a word in the chat, nut? Gosh, I thought you were just revving up for the party!
Yeah, i'm not sure the laptop would have appreaciated it either
we could if you like....party is good
no kidding? hehehe
Nutty - never mind! Just dance ma5/18 and forget your troubles. LOL.
i'm just glad it only cost me a mouse, rather than the laptop
True, feather. What about the memory stick?
don't know how but *strike a pose* let us pretend.
Get some chips for the sa5/10, and let's get this party started!
the stick was for the wireless mouse, not a memory stick. that would have sucked.
Or, if this is more your style, you could sl4/5 dance.
...Mambo No.5! Jump up and down, go and move it all around, Shake your head to the sound, put your hand on the ground. Take one step left, and one step right, One to the front, and one to the side. Clap your hands once, and clap your hands twice, And if it looks like this, then you're doing it right!
not at the s's yet...lalalalalala
i prefer the accousical version myself jac
Hey, Jac, that was about as obvious a chat-type as my wo5 earlier!
brb, gotta fold laundry
sa5/10 - a type of dance or a spicy sauce.
I was thinking more "Hey ma5/18, ma5/18 italiano!"
sa5/10: tap left on the first beat, a step forward on the same foot, a rock back onto the right foot and the sequence is finished by stepping back left to close. This is the forward basic movement, which is followed by the back basic movement. Tap right, step back right, rock forward left and close right. These steps are discussed more fully below. Generally, the wo5/20 always mirrors the ma4/5 steps, so while the man performs a forward basic movement, the wo5/20 performs a back basic movement and visa versa.
Wow, most impressive! *rocks back on left foot, no wait, right...*
It's like playing 'Twister', isn't it, Vic? LOL.
I can see us all ending up in a heap on the floor;trying out our various dances.
help on the second ad5/14 please?
Shall we try the macarena next? LOL.
Well, if your partner is doing the li5 and you're doing the sa5, things could get ugly!
feather - ad*** it, you don't know what the word is!
53 left, down to letter n, bbl. dinner time
I can't beleive you ad5/14 that you don't have that word!
ha! good clue! thanks
Bon appetit, TO!
y/w, feather. ad6 is the verb form.
got that. 15 left!
Have a good meal, TO.
ugh, I think I give up
uh oh, colts are catching up
enjoy TO!
arwenn, this is a harder than usual grid, don't feel bad
Vic - just imagining your li and sa scene. LOL.
I've got 120 words and I'm absolutely stuck
I think a chiropractor might be needed after that, Vic.
are you using lickety yet?
yeah...this grid stinks somethin' awful!
yeah I've been using lickety
Me? No. Didn't use a list.
we're watching the game here too feather and husband is cheering for the colts since the pats beat his chargers last week :)
Yes, and probably a marriage counselor, too.
go ahead and ask for clues on any you're stuck on. sometimes getting one will lead you to a string of more.
hi7 anyone?
i'm hoping for the patriots! being a new england gal...
it seemed a boring game at first....suddenly got very interesting!
fair enough...I couldn't care less at this point...no seahawks
holy cow!!!!!
shmooz - hi7 = 'that man' + vowel (definite article) + start of drink *** Maria.
yes, I'm trying to finish my last 17 so I can actually watch instead of being acused of not paying attention :)
Can't join in the sports chat. Sorry!
i've stopped looking for words for the moment.....
jac...only because if I don't learn how it works, I'd be bored...we watch a lot of sports in my house :)
that's why I'm praying for boys...then I don't have to watch anymore :)
i'd race you kristin, but i'm reduced to babbling on commercials right now
Go Colts!
my hubby is downstairs playing playstation. my mom and i follow football more than he does!
that's funny feather :)
Been there, UK style, done that, kristinc.:( I did learn how to score darts, snooker and sumo though.
ad 7/44?
touchdown!
In fact, I was the sumo 'expert'. I would shout out the scoring before the commentator. That was a long time ago though.
yep...one can learn quick if they need to jac :)
Sorry to interrupt, but I just need to say, AAAAARRRRRGH! (Okay, I'm better now.)
quite the feat jac to attain "expert" status
game or grid vic?
ad7 & verb form 8. If you've got the pr8 & 9 (to ban, not allow) then these words end same way as after the 3rd letter of the pr words.
Grid. Here I am in New England, and the TV isn't even on in our house!
kristinc - for some reason, it was a sport I understood.
Vic - TV isn't on in this house either.
Everyone's asleep except for me.
thanks :)
y/w, arwenn.
how did the birthday go last week jac?
I've never had any interest in US football, and my husband is a Denver fan, so he doesn't care now that they've been eliminated.
Your na5 day last week, Jac?
Good evening everybody
bi5/14 please? (hope it's not a fish word)
kristinc - Paul's 38th? Well he was working for most of it, but he enjoyed his presents and cards when he came home and we had a steak meal on the next night, with wine and romance. LOL.
bi5/14 - bi + louse egg
ah, ok, thanks
Could someone clue me for the ad 7 & 8 please
hah! my husband has determined that our boy cat is too fat and how he is trying to keep the fat one from taking the little one's food...neither party seems impressed :)
good for you guys jac...sounds fun!
Well, as much 'romance' as you can have with an almot 20-yr-old, an almost 23-yr-old (my two) and a just 12-yr-old (his, on 'phone) interrupting.
ad 6/21 and ad 5/20?
kristinc - we have exactly that situation with our cats.
ok, is the ho8 related to the ho7 in any way?
Heh, well, worth a try anyway, Jac!
Yep. ho8 is just like it, but with robotic ending.
hmm.....
yeah...it took us a while to figure out he was stealing her food...she was always hungry and he was/is getting bigger and bigger...he's on the straight and narrow now!
aha!
this game is addictive!
ad6/21 is the verb form of the decorating ad5. ad5/20 is a + 'not up'. Or think of a band, System of a D***.
ad6/21 - "pl" of ad5/12 ad5/20 - a + opp of up
very true arwenn...why my house is so dirty all the time
lol I've been playing to pass the time while my laundry dries, but man! I can't step away from it
HELLo, anyone helping with clues? I need the ad 7 & 8 PLEASE
kristinc - Our two cats have gone really weird since we've put him on half a tin (half of 390g) at each of the 2 meals and her on one sachet (100g) at each meal. They're turning their noses up until it's gone all hard and stale and then going in and pinching each other's rations.
Jac, it's nice to see that you are preserving your grammatical integrity on words that end with -s. It's a battle I gave up a while ago!
oh no...soon you'll stop doing laundry all together :)
sorry buttonman, i'm very distracted right now, not a good person to clue
Vic - I try, re the grammar.
ad7 - ends just like pr8 meaning forbid
haha
I have a clue for the second pr6/33 if anyone wants it -- George W Bush
that is strange jac...well this is our new experiment, so we'll see. Nothing like trying to hold back a 15 pound cat when he wants to eat :)
evening all - how many words today
okay, gonna grab a bite to eat (not cat food)
267, sandr, and every one of -em a battle!
prawns
I know, Kristinc, re the cat. Especially when he's got big, strong claws!
sorry sorry - free one all
Same to you, sandr!
Sandr, is that a menu suggestion for kristin?
pr4/5!
LOL.
second sa6/21 please?
lol is this jeapordy now?
Hi all... am logging in after a busy day with hopes of finishing this grid.. still have 50 to find, so I will plunge in and emerge if I can be of any help along the way..
hi aloy
second sa6/21 - lumch meat
feather - take the 'a' out of the sausage.
lunch. Whatever.
Hi Aloy.
hi feather... nice to "see" you ! And Jacula, too.. are you two finished?
Hello, Aloy.
got it thanks
guess nobody noticed or needed or wanted my pr6/33 clue
I'm finished, yes, ALoy.
and jac, thanks for reading my mind on the next one!
I didn't need it, jilli, but I appreciated it all the same, lol!
Hi jilli. Sorry, didn't see you there.
oh good, vicuna! And I'm totally wioth you on that "plural" s!
ooh, thanks for the sa clue: didn't have that one, Vicuna..(-:
Jacula, do you have the ad 7 & 8?
But I do love pr6/33, jilli. *Holds out arms for forgiveness.*
congrats to you, Jacula!!!
jac - arms out too
al 5/12 and al5/10?
Button, I gave it to you: ends just like pr8 meaning forbid.
now I'll shut up and work on the last 55
I do have those words, Button. Sick of clueing them, but you're not to know that. Have you got the pr8 & 9 (to ban, not allow) words?
i don't have the pr8
((((Hugs Jilli))))
Well, it means forbid.
in + same ending, Button, would mean you might feel unable to do something in front of someone.
Their presence would in***** you.
(Think of what they did to alcohol in the 20s.)
ugh! I'm not even halfway done with this yet
Think of your parents at a school play, Button. Mum's crying (how embarrassing!) and Dad's leaping around and getting in everyone's way with his camcorder! If that wouldn't either in***** or pr***** you from performing, I don't know what would!
Good clue, Vic!
last sa5/12? i feel like i keep asking for "easy" ones, yet i'm not seeing them!
('Though appaarently without effect?)
lol
sa5/12 - sa + Thy --- and thy staff, they comfort me.
And it took me FOREVER to find that one.
feather - ;ast sa5/12 = sa + fisherman's upright thing.
ok, i haven't heard of that one at least. thanks!
go the pr 7 and 8, thanks...
Good, Buttonman. Now do you have the ad7 and 8?
I am back again, to find some more words. 114 to go--I never expected to finish this monster grid--too many weird words.
got the ad 7 & 8, thanks
Oh, good grief! Word endings for ad and pr are h*! (a greeting + b** (drill end or a small part).
*sigh*
i have 92 to go and i have to go so I will see you all tomorrow...thanks for the clues
Bye, Buttonman.
lol Jacula
Bye Buttonman--good work.
Night, Button.
bye Buttonman
Sorry arwennn! Being 'peri-menopausal, as my doctor calls it, or 'why the hell does a night sweat wake me up every hour on the hour?, in my view, sometimes makes me a little impatient.
Forgive me. I may be over this stage in 10, 20, 30 years... depends which wo5/20 friends I listen to! LOL.
understandable... you actually had more patience than I would... he asked like 4 times
LOL
Thanks, arwenn.x
Poor Jac. It's so difficult being a wo5! :)
is this what happens when you play too much? you start speaking in babble clues?
Well, we have this convention that you shouldn't type grid words into the chat log. So then it becomes a bit of a game when you're chatting.
haha, wonderful!
And yes, I'm sure it's because we play too much!
Vic - I feel a Tammy Wynette song coming on...
Run away from it, Jac! Run away!
Stop me, please! No karaoke here! LOL.
I think I might look forward to making this game part of my every waking hour
lord knows it will turn me into a boggle champion when I play with my family..
That much is certainly true. I'm much better at Boggle now. But beware: your family may not be willing to accept some of the more obscure words that this dictionary allows.
Vic - now I'm about to sing a Del Shannon number.
could i get a clue foe the ai6? please
Ooh, I'm not familiar with Del Shannon. Let 'er rip!
yeah, this game has foreign words!
ai6 - male who helps
ahh thanks
Raging at the Enable dictionary used by Babble is a recurring motif for all of us here.
lol I see
AARGH! When I was in my late teens and 20's, I was in charge of an office where a woman just about to go into her 50s was an employee. I could never understand her scattiness, nor her hot sweats, but what annoyed me most of all was her habit of finding a song to sing, whatever the situation. Suddenly, I have become that poor woman! Helen, if you're out there, I'm really sorry for my impatience.xx
Not much point in raging at the totally disabled dictionary. Vic.
Jacula, I think you are become wise! lol
ok, my last pair. su6/30?
fireworks for me....what a rough grid!
I know there's no point, Jac, but every time I think I have come to terms with it, some new absurdity sets me to raging again.
Well done, Blood!
congrats :)
congrats bloodaxe!
Yay for Bloodaxe! Are you feeling any better recently?
good evening all
i'm feeling very ood vic. thanks for asking.
Del Shannon - As I walk along, I wonder what went wrong, With our love, a love that was so strong. And as I still walk on, I think of the things we've done Together, a-while our hearts were young. I'm a-walkin' in the rain, Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain, Wishin' you were here by me, To end this misery And I wonder-- I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder, Why, Why, why, why, why, why she ran away, Yes, and I wonder, A-where she will stay-ay, My little runaway, Run, run, run, run, runaway.
So... are you feeling good, or odd?
slept off most of the day w/a fever. wonder if i'll get to celebrate? 113 words left
You need to hear the song though, Vic.
Oh, I do know that song, just never knew the name of the singer.
I think I'm going to call it a night with this grid, and give tomorrow's a fresh try
LOL Jacula! We are all slowly turning into our parents through time-release genes. It is downright frightening. If I make it to my 70's then I will be a cranky wo5.
blood... i see people asking u if u r okay. is everything alright w/you?
haha...sorry vic. i'm feeling GOOD, but i'm also ver tired.
Good-night, arwennn.
You gave it your best shot, arwenn. See you again.
Oh, that's a relief, Blood! lol
alrighty, catch you all tomorrow, and thanks for all the help you all provided
Congrats Bloodaxe. How are your classes going?
night arwenn!
Bye arwennnnnnnnnnnn (How many N's are in your name?)
haha...i'm STILL on break scrabbler! but classes start on tuesday.
She certainly has a sufficiency of n's!
Srabbler, that is frighteningly (although comfortingly) true! I once looked in the mirror at the hairdresser's and saw my Mum there. But she hadn't turned up there. T'was myself.:((
su6/30 please?
What courses will you be taking?
su6/30 - to yield or give in to
feather - su6/30 - bow down to the grid. You can't take it any more!
lmao, what a perfect last word! i'm done!
I don't look like my mom--I look like my dad--but I do and say things that annoyed me when she did them
Congrats, feather!
ooh, me too heather! probably the same second!
hey fran!
been here long?
hi everyone!
feather - that was my last word, too. Well, su7/44 was.
And yay for Fran!
i had the chat covered
hi jac!
Yes, a perfect last word! Yahooo featherheather
i'll be taking Arabic, Research Methods, North Africa and the Middle East in the 20th Century, and Moroccan Foriegn Policy. then i'm done with school...I graduate and enter the "real world"
right, mine was the 7 technically
Made me laugh.
Hi Fran.
oh yeah, yay heather!!
holy cow the game is tied again
sa5/16 please
Have a great semester, Bloodaxe.
im5,12?
thanks scrabbler. goodnight everyone
BA, remember the book, "little black sa***?"
Night, Blood.
night bloodaxe!
scrabbler, im5/12 is like an am*** acid
Thanks Fran
(spelled the same way)
im5/12, Scrabbler, is like the am5 acids.
yw BA
goodnight, Bloodaxe.
ob 6/24 please
TY Jacula.
(still here, just watching the game)
Oh, Fran-TY first to you!
ak - o + an explosion.
ahh an irish explosion LOL
ty jac
ob7 is the same with an 'i' at the end.
fran -- I saw your clue for sa5/16 and am so glad you just gave the name of the book instead of saying "nasty word" as some have done. To me it was just a clever little boy.
that's okay scrab! sometimes the first clue is not seen, i understand. :-)
thanks jilli.
clever knitter!
jilli - I got lambasted a few nights ago for not giving the raccoon version of the co4 word.
The boy in the book was very clever, but the pictures were a product of their time, and not acceptable today. There have been some versions with new illustrations, I think.
jac, is that what that little exchange was about the other night?
let's not be basting la** here -- running to hide
knitter, you're safe from me, not fond of lamb myself.
fran said a wooooooord!
me neither except in the wool form
I did say it was not a nice term but it was one that some in UK call themselves. Never mind. Cultural differences, I guess. Not that I would ever call my friends who call themselves that word.
ooops! sorry, jac said it first!!
lol aknitter. You're just a precious baa la6/27!
yeah, but she blended it into another word at least! plus, i gotta pick on you!
I need the second si5/12 please
lol, okay heather. :-(
firewords! *panting on burning fingers*
yay lbd!
what is the other ow? i have the birdie
BA, same as the first one, just change the last letter
Well done, lbd.
yeah lbd
yay lbd!!!
aknitter, you ow* something, it belongs to you
If the birdie belongs to you... that's the other ow4
the ow is to have, belongs to you.
Wow dawger!
Thanks again Fran. Appreciate your help.
just make a right instead of a left for the second ow.
smacks self on head for missing obvious
no problem BA!
Thank you all, what a not fun grid, except for the chat which really really helped
Such a shame Enable doesn't recognise the w**k and 'er' word. However, I believe it's a term not known in USA.
I want "vorpal."
there are a lot of words that are recognized in the USA Jac, what's one more? lol
Ah, the vorpal sword, Vic!
(Actually, come to think of it, I want ANY vo6.)
poop sausage
That is spelled with 2 R's, Vicuna....vorrpal
i think sprite psyched me out last night, when i came on she said it wasn't a nice grid so i went to sleep and didn't start on it until this afternoon.
No it isn't Scrabbler. But it sounds nice pronounced that way.
poop sausage? doesn't sound too tasty
She was right, Fran.
Don't get spooked by Sprite, LOL! How do you think she maintains the No. 1 spot? LOL.
lol jac!
oh, aknitter, it isnt believe meh
lol
when does sprite play? i almost never run into her
ahh she has madness to her meanings! lol
Vicuna -- have you seen the original illustrations? I had the book as a child and loved it and saw nothing derogatory about any part of it -- just a fun story. I see some of the more recent illustrations change the clever little Indian boy into the worst kind of caricature of an African black which was never intended by the author. "Death to Political Correctness! Viva Helen Bannerman!" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Ban nerman
between 10:00 and 11:00 my time is when she starts heather.
Or is it, vopwan, or vopral, or vowpran, or vodmas---have I been looking at this grid too long?
ah, 3 and 4 am here
yup, you're snug in your bed. :-)
i just dozed off on my laptop... did i miss anything? like maybe a clue for BL 5/16?
Well, Vicuna, I thought the version I had was the original, and although he was said to be in India (with tigers), he looked like a golliwog. But maybe that wasn't the original. Let me go check it out...
feather, sprite is in Holland and comes on way after you're in bed!
She was on this AM, around 6 AM on the grid time.
desperate begging for a clue for an sm word
And in case you're wondering, yes, I did just call jilli "Vicuna." Holy moly, I'm losing it!
My other half has sugested that we must come up with some programme that will zap Sprite's computer in a very sneaky way... she can enter Babble, she can enter words on Babble, but any words she enters will go on our list! ROFLOL. Don't worry! He's a trucker and I'm a housewife. We won't do it.
probably comes on about when i'm needing to get up for my potty break! sigh, i miss sleeping through the night.

NO
wow. the colts did play a good game, i must say. just sad patriots didn't get it. well, 1 minute left, you never know.......
I'll just mute it and get on with the grid. I should explain -- I have a small TV in my computer room/office and a gizmo which sends a UHF signal from the main set to all the others (blush -- I have 4 sets altogether -- hells bells, I live alone and need company)
Having said that, my man can, and often does.
jili...I saw earlier what you said about a book. If I recognized the author correctly, one of her books was my favorite when I was a child. I would love to find a first edition sometime when I am out looking through antiques stores to buy for my grandchildren.

Let us rejoice? Oh, maybe not.
Hi Mom2
mom, plural of pr8 to keep something from happening
PR9 plural banning something, as was done w/liquor in the 20s

I was partying. I realise HVG isn't to everyone's tastes... but:(

Wel feather went suddenly Fran, when I mentioned Hava Nagila. I know it's not purist.
jac was singing...and i don't think anyone too offence jac, but then again, i may be wrong.
heather left because the game ended, plus as far as i know she's not jewish.
It's such a fun song and dance for getting everyone of all creeds up and dancing though.
it could have been that one note that you didn't quite hit jac! :-)
nothing offensive that this non-practicing jew saw
Jili...Wow!! What a site. I bookmarked it to go back to. I am hoping to find several old books I have been looking for...thanks so much.

c;ue please for sa5/12 after the character that ate all of those pancakes?
Remember that broken arm I mentioned a month or two ago that I might have been walking about with since july/August last year? I saw my doc about it this week, and he agreed. he winced when it cracked.

well, that doesn't sound so great, jac.
adhd - uh oh, is quite the right thing to say! I said that, too. LOL.
I hope that surgery is unnecessary and that it is menopause.
MI ** S very small thing plural

ma4/9 rhymes with la4 (grass).
adhd, rhymes with the grass that grows on your front la**
ADHD, sounds like how a jamaican might say "male"
Fran - No. But if I don't have humour, I will be lost. And 'lost' is not what I choose to be.
I would really like to have one of the V words before I get the list... please?
ADHD sounds like the last name of author somerset ******
stid vo4 & verb form 5 - to be sick.

how was dinner Stid?
ADHD, who's the cutie in your icon?
adhad - it's what we do here. We're a community.xx
It was good. We don't usually eat red meat, but Costco had a coupon for pork chops this week. Served over vegetable rice with home-made applesauce on the side. Quite yummy.
and a great community it is... glad i joined. just a few days here and it's like i've been here for a long time
darn, we forgot about the coupon stid! we were supposed to get some!
the cutie is my youngest granddaughter Meredith
she just turned 2
why do the pictures get stretched sideways in the icons
i love seeing pics of everyone's kids and grandkids. she's adorable.
Forgot to warn you, ADHD, Fran will flirt with any sexy icon you put up.
Stid...I buy the boneless porkchops when on special at costco. they are like having your own mini pork roast. we love them.
tx i think so.
if you don't pick a square picture, it gets distorted.
*Runs and ducks from Fran's ensuing wrath.*
hi guys
the icons are a set ratio, if your base image is not at that ratio, the icon "fixes" it. We've had some very funny-looking icons!
hi pappa!
jac, you are incorrigible!
hi smooth!
hee hee... hi smdnjv... enjoy that game earlier? lol
tx for explanation stid. i'll try diff photos... Lord knows i've got plenty of them (the grandkids... all five of them)
Hey smooth

*snigger, snigger, snort, cough, cough*, Fran.:)))
happy grandma, eh, ADHD? my mother-in-law loves her 6 grandkids, too!

ak - over this grid or some sports I don't give an eff about?
I think the second game was a much better match-up than the first today... the Saints were SO outclassed. I was embarrassed to watch that one. At least the second game wasn't decided until the last minute.
actually, both mo5/12s you need are plurals of the 4/5s
no, TO, they did not.

Pika, you might get a bettr understanding by reading anglesongs babble page linked at the bottom of this page
lickety put the words in different order... than i did when i typed them in.. guess u have to type them in at the top of the list and let lickety place them in order.

pika... go to the links at the bottom of this page and click on Angel Song's (it's where i was directed when i joined a few days ago) it'll help you understand a lot
