I fell in love with one of the adopt-a-pets at Petco. Her name is Smudge.

Wow, sprite! What a lovely young lady you have there.

Her mother must be very beautiful.

darling pic and dress!
this is my favorite of yesterday's series: http://tinyurl.com/yrxlvo
this will surely be a birthday she will remember forever
it is incredible with those two, they remember everything. Somehow they escaped becoming spoiled, they treasure each and every special thing.
great blessing that
Thanks for sharing, sprite.
ditto what Babble said!
and since I am already being such a disgustingly proud mother here: this is my son. My little boy - who will be 11 in 2 months and is almost as tall as his mom, lol.
http://tinyurl.com/ys9k3b
thanks BabbleRabble and Dee :)
yqw
my "baby" is almost 6 feet tall LOL; the time will pass so very quickly; enjoy every minute
Good morning/evening all!
Morning Haz
I do, Dee, but I have to say, I am not one of those mothers who regret that their kids grow up. I love seeing how they grow, and becoming more and more personalities in and of themselves.
hey Haz :)
totally agree; I adore having an adult relationship with my daughter.. but it does seem like she was a babe just a blink ago... need to go find my pillow; have to work in the afternoon; cya at the flip. Have a fantastic day all. Hugs.
*hugs right back* I am off too, on to painting ceramics with the bunch. This is the fun part :)
btw before I *poof*... your son is also quite handsome! Thanks Sprite. Hugs!
Bye Volley - FMItch and Sprite, nice to see you - and BabbleRabble.
There is nothing disgusting about parents that care, sprite. Have fun.
poof
Bye sprite have a good day.
Haz, hows the back doing? are you keeping up the exercises
Exercises?..... Oh, those exercises! Well, in my defence my back is okay, still pretty much affected with sciatica down the leg, but hoping that traction tomorrow will help. After that the physio has promised to give me stretches to do.
And I will be good, honestly. I can now sit on a normal chair, so progress has been made and putting socks on is no longer an exercise in logistics
LOL re socks How are you finding the grid this morning?
But, to change the subject rapidly from exercise, this is a nice grid so far.
I've got to 100 in no time but have word blindness now
Good morning.....I like this morning's much better than yesterday's, but you were right Haz, it wasn't so bad once I go going !
It's funny how 'the wall' hits and nothing emerges for a while. Some people's walls appear more quickly than others, of course!
I have slowed down considerably at 111
Good morning Karys - yesterday's letters were there, just a bit twisty to put together. (Does that sound hopelessly illogicial?)
Morning Karys nice to see you on the wet/grey morning
sounds more or less the way I speak all the time Haz !!
very wet, very grey FMitch
Oh well, we're on the same wavelength then! It's pretty wet here as well.
There seem to be a lot of food related words today, think I had better get some breakfast.
had my toast and tea !
Yes - keep up your strength!
Yes ma'am will try :)
You don't want 'the treatment' again....
er, um, No!
That en4/8 word has been in three days in a row.
And just found the strange er6/30 that was in a few days ago. I must be babbling too much...
we should know that one then !
not got that....will look
You mean - up to the present time, I haven't got that....
aahh...that one !
The one!
only found one 9
You're one up on me.
loose the king ?
Morning! Have decided to begin from the end of the alphabet and work up. Is that nuts?
I would have thought so, Alleyn, but do it any way you like!
anyway it grabs you Alleyn !!
I know you're just working your way back into babble, Alleyn, so you may as well experiment to see what you like doing.
Think it could be a long way round
Are you starting with the list straight away, or just working off the grid, alphabetically backwards?
king of the fairies is in today
So he is, but not acceptable....
using list
can't see much else that is from there except the 3 I have !!
hi thad at wherever you are
See how it goes, Alleyn.
hi thad wherever you are
There is a wind instrument o4 and 2 x ow5 to do with belonging
have those FMitch....and 2 choosing
hi there thad. i am at odeon towers
and something that happen only one time
hi there thad at odeon towers
op4/5 - old fashioned opposite of closes
put an 's' in that last post please
haha i see. u skiving??!!!
op4/6 - old fashioned opposite of closed
Right it's gone 10am so I must turn into a working person and leave babbleland for a while, have fun and TTFN.
dinner break
bye Fmitch...don't work too hard !
Have a good working day, FMitch and maybe see you later.
ooh. :)
did you get the 9 Haz ?
Not yet Karys - I'm about to look through chat log archive to see what I can pick up from there.
to take the top off the monarchs head
I'll work on it, I take it kingly headgear is involved?
Thanks, Karys, got it.
Poor Charles.
TY Karys - he must have done one too many de6.24s
Hi Haz
Good mornng lynxxx.
Sorry - good evening, I should say.
sorry....was just away for a minute !....Hi lynxxx
king of the fairies! Does he have a new spelling
The word is in the grid, Alleyn but is not acceptable by enable.
not acceptable Alleyne
ther's some nice o clues just after 1.00 in the chat log
Just found another couple of ob words - ob6/27, ob8/60 - structured in the same way as a protest, or spoken opposition to something, but with no j in the grid, replace with another 'touchy' consonant.
ah! so struggling with ob 6 and ob 8
Alleyn - try my clue just below.
ty Haz... strange words !!
Brill clues Haz! Thanks I need to put you in my friends
You're welcome- using the chat log to find some of the bigger words.
op8/50 - beginnings of a sung play (four letters) then four letters at the beginnings of fame, as in a famous person, or a party, as in a marking of a birthday or anniversary.
great clue haz. hi all.
brilliant...well done Haz...ty
hi kanga
Good evening kanga - glad the clue worked!
had been battling that one for what felt like hours, haz!
You must have great patience!
just a little dull and stupid...
Not at all! I don't have the patience to experiment too long, I'm onto the dictionaries once I know I don't know the word.
do you have de8/55 ?
my dictionary had failed me, i was relying on the monkeys. must feed them more.
I have , I mean
I do, Karys.
thanks, karys, i do.
and the de8/70 ?
Yes, I have that one.
thankyou, but started on the ds, karys! or do you need it?
thats all the 8's that I have
There are school monitors about pr8/65 - or French government officials.
there is the in8 past tense of a word that is similar to a bug (change second last consonant...)
in6/24 leads to in8/55 - opposite of the word that rules something or somebody out of the equation. Everyone can go - but not X.
sorry, a little woolly with a cold, so clues are also woolly.
ty Haz....perfect was a phantom and couldn't see past it !
You need to keep those eyes open for those pr8 otherwise you may get li4/4s.
got those too now thank you both
heh, heh, heh, karys.
lol Haz
good morning ladies
(that's a lol with a sore throat)
se6/21 leads to se8/50 - se plus the ending of a con word which is worried about something.
Good morning ron!
thanks, haz!
good morning roncook
back in a bit !
fe 8 just isn't twigging
bye, karys!
re8/65 - to change sides again (like Winston Churchill between the Liberals and Conservatives) or if spies change their minds. re9 leads from that.
fe5/18 + a word meaning li4/4
ty, ty, ty haz!!!
fe5/18 + ***, ***, *** your boat, gently down the stream...
You're welcome, kanga - and thanks for the fe8. Alleyn it's a combination of a boundary and a word that can mean an argument or a means of moving a boat, or the opposite of a column in a grid
Haz! Such a star clue giver! Thanks
You're welcome!
Well, I must head off and do some chores - I've still got 98 to find, but the list will help with that. Have a good day all, and I'll be back later. Bye!
bye, haz.
Have to have 3 hours out! Only done 122 but seems to be working - if slowly!
sounds pretty good to me, alleyn!
Well done, Alleyn
hi babble.
Hello
good morning everyone!!!
evening, movieman
hi movieman
clues for the 9s plz
Good day Babble Team!
My first word = yo5 = Swiss singing. LOL
to unmonarch a king (de9/96) and to once again change allegiances (re9/84).
hi scrabbler!
Good morning, Scrabbler
ty kanga
Guess what I awoke to this AM? The 3 ft of snow and ice slid off my roof like an avalanche, crashed, bouced against the house and BROKE a window!
my pleasure, movie.
Oh Man! That is a huge bummer Scrabbler. I am so sorry.
scrabbler, that is just plain awful.
How shattering
So I cleaned up broken glass, then taped plastic than cardboard over the window. It is at floor level, so a mess. LOL, BR--you are helping me laugh during this pane/pain! LOL
Scrabbler-we had our roof avalanches last night too! Huge boooming things. I wsas so glad no one was under them. Havne't gone out yet to see what happened. So far we were luckier than you.
And I lost 30 min of Babble time!!!!
now that hurts, scrabble.
We wer going to have to climb up today and hack away at the ice, soI'm glad it fell
Eva--did you hear it? I didn't, nor my nephew who is sleeping over. There is SO MUCH snow and ice piled up in front of the house--4 ft high.
Do you have a metal roof, Eva?
Same here. Yes, it happened while we were still awake, shook the whole house and sent Merp running for cover. Yes, we have a metal roof and usually stuff slides off regularly, with quite a thump. but because of the weather patterns this winter stuff got jammed up and got hgher and higher and the ice began backing up under the eaves so nothing slid off. Then it all let loose at once last night.
Same exact story here, Eva. It has been slowing sliding down, so this sheet of snow/ice, 3ft thick, has been coming down like a curtain. And my bunny, Callie, is loose down here, so she must have been scared. Fortunately she did not get injured. I have now told her to stay away.
good heavens
I just spoke with my ins co and my deductible is $500, so this will cost me.
What we have to watchout for is that it doesn't get so high as to block the exterior heat vent for the furnace. But the heat is still working, so it seems we're okay. I have to use snow shoes to fill the bird feeder because the snow is so high.
The double E's are soothing me.
you like eeeeeees?!
Oh, I never thought of the furnace pipe--TY, although currently not an issue anymore. Yes, keeping the birdfeeders full is a challenge in the winter.
I am finding lots of words with EE in the middle.
Looking at what happened makes me realilze that if someone had gone up on a ladder to chop at it, and it had let loose all at once, they would have been severely injured.
l think we are lucky here with just rain and drizzle, last big snow was 20 yrs ago !
Yes, Eva--it is heavy, packed snow/ice, not fluffy stuff. I tried to knock some of the hanging stuff with a shovel, and that stuff is SOLID.
I like the bigs snows ron....this hsa been a strange winter.
Ron, I love snow, but it can be a problem as a home owner, and the metal roof, although it has eliminated the ice dams and water leaking, creates avalanches.
G'd morning Babblers!
Ours is not a standing seam. When it needs to be replaced we'll get one, because they are a lot better.
Hi Lori--I was looking at NS on a map in Yankee magazine last night--I think an ad for visiting the provinces "up there."
I don't know how one can get 21 words from that first s!
I have only 4 so far, Eva.
Holy name of bleepity bleep bleep bleep. 33 re words? Ack!!!!!
they are killing me, lorip.
No way, Lori---now I am really going to cry.
me too lorip and kanga - have to try and re almost everything
LOL Scrabbler, I wonder if it's the same stoopid slogan "come to life up here" or something like that.
can anyone clue me the bo6/24? i can reciprocate with some r words, i hope.
bo+end of irish women's name (two vowels same)
I saw the re, and decided to peek, and tehre are 33. I forsee many pots of coffee, and the occasional bit of blue air..... Good thing I have the day off!
I don't remember, Lori, but the map was a reminder of the geography of those maritime provinces. You are north of Maine.
lorip, i owe you...
bo 6/24 extend 2nd bo 4/6
What's the word total on this re laden beast please?
kanga, what did I do? I apologise in advance.... :)
262 4933 points

Yes SCrabbler, but I fear it's a train...
You are a good man, MM!
LOL Lori---a Babble train out of control and heading right toward us! Full of letters and non-words!
oh my.... fireworks!
Yahoo! Congrats kanga!!!!!!!
Yipee for Kanga !! well done !!
Yippeeeeee kanga! Good for you! 25 P's. 21 S's. 33 RE's. And you persevered!
which means, does anyone want a clue!
i did indeed, scrabbler. and persevere wasn't even on the grid.
Hahahahaha, 188 to go, no list out, where do I start?
Brace yourself for the avalanche of clue requests!
I'm slinking off to bed - so no for me. Nite all.

Hello Scrabbler - just looking in briefly, ironing done, paperwork chores to do.

Oh, yes, yo5. OK, I extended the yo5--TY hursh.
but the 6 is ye?
3 x re8 - op8 - ob8 - in8 - fe8 - de8x2
op8/50 - first four letters of a sung play, then first letters of a famous person, or a party to mark an anniversary or birthday
ye6
good GRIEF op8, what a word
ob8/60 - builds on the ob6/27 - structured as with a word of protest, but with no j in the grid, change to a more touchy consonant
how much better is good grief than bad?
significantly
in8/55 - builds on in6/24 - the opposite of the word which leaves people out.
How did you ever find that op8, Hazel?
good grief is mild annoyance, bad grief is deep sorrow
I looked back in the chat log for the points values etc, then looked in morewords. I'm on commission to sell shares in it....
op 8/50 my dictonary cannot define it so wot is it ??
i'm still trying to get the se8/50.....
too much deep sorrow around; I will stay with the lesser
include... no... think
I have to get ready for work. :( I would rather Babble and chat for a few hours. Bye and good luck everyone!
fe8/60 combines a permanent boundary with a word that can mean an argument, a means of propelling a boat or the opposite of a column in a grid
Have a great day, Scrabbler
Have a good day Scrabbler.
Bye Scrabbler.

oh darn tx brabble
hey br...how are you today?
doing okay, Blood. Getting some snow here. Hope your leg is better today.
the leg is better br. but i have a birthday party to go to tonight. all of the walking and sitting will probably cause some discomfort. how much snow is on the ground
is it will sub-zero temps?
almost spring-like weather... maybe 5 inches
there is more snow on the ground ... a 5 inches fell in the last day or so
i heard MN got hit pretty hard the other day. I an honestly say that i don't miss it.
The winters are different now... the snowfall is less and the temps are more moderate
i think as an overall trend, but there are still a couple of weeks of those bitter cold temps that make being outside miserable. I have relatives in the north by pembina who have been really into snowmobiling and there were a couple of winters where they didn't even get to take the sleds out of the garage.
anyone get the cr 6,21?

man, the BF is having a bad day today...
He is missing you?
aw, no "linefeed"?
Back later...
will get lunch before go to list, maybe some food will help the brain
need help with next to last hiding word: re 6/18 and its relative re 7/32. Help please?
the BF was all ready to start his PhD program this fall, but he just got word today that his GRE scores werent good enough + they dont wanna take him now... since GRE scores are really for Master's programs and he already finished his Master's at this same school, we cant figure out what GRE scores would have to do with his PhD program!
sorry to hear that evanadine, hopefully he will talk with someone at the PhD program to see if they can explain things and may be straigthen things out
evandine, it depends on the PhD program and if he has to take the upper professional test for the program. I had to do that for mine.
thanks peri -- i know hes preety upset about it right now...
I would be too evanadine.
bbl
inge, to define the perimeter again, and past tense
PhD programs care about gres
though in general having a masters would count for a lot
how disappointing for your bf, evan. Hope he can study up and take them again.
Peri....did you get an answer to the Conway Twitty question? I just came back and read the chatlog
yeah, he can take them again, but its probably too late for the fall semester. i just dont understand why GREs matter...if the scores would good enough for their Master's program, why arent they good enough for the same school's PhD program? seems pretty hippocritical to me.
PhD programs have different standards?
is his PhD in the same field as his masters?
but there is something screwy going on if the school from which he got his masters is turning him down for a PhD, with that as their only explanation
same field, yes. and if they are looking for different standards, they should be administering a different exam. youd think that successfully completing their Master's Program would be a good indication that he would be adequately prepared for the PhD program...
clue for the ye6?
hes gonna go talk to his advisor again, since she is also the department head...it just doesnt add up...
oh well, i have to run to a meeting, which is probably gonna take the rest of my work day... thanks for letting me vent. :)

de6/33 is an imperfection, mar, blemish
de6/33 - a fault, an error in design
Norma: a blemish... like Percy Weasley in Harry Potter stories, was a school pre****.
de 6/33: ask for asylum in a foreign country -- extend for the 8 and 7
re9 is re+give up citizenship of your country to flee to another country (pluralized)
de 6/33 also means to leave your country
haz -- do you have all the r's yet?
thanks Stid, I wanted those also
Hello cybernan - not yet - 49 words left to find.

cybernan - i have the folowing re6: one is like an older man's hairline, one is to disobey again, one is the past tense of the coral shelf in the ocean, and one is the same (except the first letter) as the one about leaving one's country
also re6/24 - when it ends in -ion it's the ability to get channels on the TV or radio
re 6? -- have ebb, get (an idea), colour again x2, tugged, refresh, cover the inside again -- missing?
and i just got another that's re + an alternate spelling of the abbr. for the 9th month
re6/24 - begins what happens after the wedding when the happy couple receive their guests.
re6/30 and 6/27 - past and present tense of coloring hair or fabric again
disobey again -- that's it -- thank you firefly!
re6/36 - act like a teenager once again and refuse to do as told
yw cybernan!
help with the ob 6/21 please
op6/21 - structured in the same way as Shakespeare's King of the Fairies.
ob 6: lawyers in the court room say "ob****ion!" --change the j to a different consonant
Sorry - misreading b for p....
But I needed the op, so thanks, Haz.
Glad to be of some use!
sorry, I meant the op 6/21
Haz - could you clue the op differently? not getting the Shakespeare, sorry
Then, read back to 3.31 where I clued it - a different clue would be four letters of the sung play, plus the opposite of off.
thx Haz - never heard that word before :)
re 5's -- have hit again, colour again, rushes x2, corally, something like a bird's perch with dif. vowels, serve food again, plant again, mechanical man -- missing two ?
No problem, firefly.
sorry -- got carried away -- mechanical man is an ro
cybernan - you have two coral ones, right?

help with el and er words
re8 - different verb forms of re plus either to establish a boundary, or to indulge in swordplay, possibly with an ep4/5...

oh no -- missed one of the coral 5's -- just one re 5 to find now
No problem, kitty.
how are you this evening?
haz, i know the feeling.
re 5's -- have hit again, colour again, rushes x2, coral x2, something like a bird's perch with dif. vowels, serve food again, plant again, mechanical man -- missing?
jakes, are u all ready for the wedding, not long now.
Afternoon averyone.
Can I get a clue for the in8?
scrap the mechanical man (again)
Hi pigeonman

Yay for cybernan
clue for the pr7 and 8? Please? Will have all the 8's then
wtg nan
past tense of de 6: -- ask for asylum in a foreign country
cr6/24 please - not the pancake one
pigeonman - either a French government official or a school appointment for a pupil
pr 7: head girl at a private school, plual
Ouch. I've never been a head girl at a private school. Clue for dummies please?
cr6/24 - plural cr5/14 - religious belief (second of two cr5/14)
I guess the pr 7 could be anyone in authority over their peers.
ren add s to the cr5/14 b4 it
Think of a seven letter p word meaning impeccable, faultless, and change round the second and third letters for pr7
thanks was not looking at that d at the top
think of a p 7 word for 'without flaws' and transpose 2nd and 3rd letters
aw crud. I KNOW that word. Thanks cybernan
what is they say about great minds, haz?
yw pigeonman
They think alike!
Someone usually adds - fools seldom differ.
lol -- I wasn't going to bring that up!
sorry to ask again but can I have a clue for br6/27 please
Besides, I don't think we are fools -- although others might think the amount of time we spend here foolish!
found the missing br6
br 6/27: plural the br 5/16 -- reproduce
We could be doing worse things, cybernan - though others in the family can't understand the attraction of finding words.
If there is only 1 br 6/27 - it's plural of the 5/16 right before
thanks cybernan, forgot about that d at the top again
True
cr6/21 please
cr6/21: like the top of a castle tower
don't get your clue nan
the top of a castle tower is sometimes cr****lated
clue for the fe8 plz

The rain's back on again now, but it's always a treat to have some sun.
OK. I give. Does anyone have the YE6/24?
ye6/24 - y plus a snake-like fish, add not out
Forget it. Poopy diaper emergency. Will be back later if I can. Still have 109 left to find.\
welcome cstade :)
just seen the clue from cybernan for the fe8/80 .... I know the 1st 5 letters but cannot get the last 3 ... help please!!!
cslade - fe6/27 means that someone is looking for a word that begins with fe, is six letter longs and will give 27 points. The quickest way to find out all about babble is to read the help section above, or click on Angelsong's Babble page, bottom of page, under Friends of Babble. All your questions should hopefully be answered there.
Mo - three letters for either an argument, the opposite of a column in a grid, or a means of propelling a boat
mo another word for straight line, only 3 letters
Ok, thanks. so fe6/27 would be another word for cat?
Haz you are a gem thank you.
and oggy too.
It describes the family that the cat belongs to, in the same way as a bovine describes a cow.
You're welcome, mo.
can anyone help with the ye 6/24?
I will try and give clues if anyone needs any.

I'm diving back in to get my last 64 -- tackling the horrid re words...
jilli - Glad it was you that did that and not me! LOL. I appeared suddenly much earlier today to wag an admonishing finger at SMD and Ursh, who were happily discussing why pre-ow*** wasn't allowed. Only they were using the word in full.

Two drugs worked for me, one was a herbal one called Kira, which was a compound of St. John's Wort, a 'haapy' herb and the other was my black cat who came into my garden looking for love. She calmed me and so I namd her Kira.

BO7--tie up the front of your boat w/this
hello everyone
Howdy!
hi 88
Incidentally, she died on 21st Feb. and came home in spirit on 25th when Other Half was grating cheese (her favourite thing). I hadn't 'se4/4' or felt her up to that point and didn't when I grated cheese myself later. However, my daughter and I 'heard' her doing her usual ineffectual scratching on the side of the litter tray at about midnight last night.. and then we both heard her usual attempt at a 'mieow', which is kind of a' kkych' sound. As usual with these kind of things, we weren't even thinking about her at the time but were engaged in an animated conversation about something else entirely. As we realised it and my daughter went to litter tray to see if she could actually see Kira, my son came in through the front door and nearly scared the life out of her! I can't tell you all what she called him! No true, though... since her Dad and I WERE married when we had both of them.
now -- another try to finish the RE words!!!!!
wow jac!
that's relaly something, jacs
i wondered where babbler was, i was worried
oh jac -- how spooky!
last br 5/16?

I'm getting nowhere with the RE words but I like you lot a lot better

Anything else?

in6/24- start
Then the past tense and the plural
hho are you holding up nut?

harp - it's not so strange. Every pet we have had seems to have returned home. When we first moved in here, me and my (now Ex) hubby had not had pets as a couple but we both 'saw' the white cat in the house. When we enquired amongst our neighbours, it turned out a white cat had once been resident in the house.
they have nine lives you know. plus another nine that they don't tell us about!
could someone cue a word off the far right E?
EP4/5 think of the sport w/swords
Okie dokie...I'm off like a prom dress. Sudoku here I come.

ADHD - A serious answer here - it's not quite like that. This is an age thing, unfortunately. Hopefully, since I keep my mind active, it won't be a permanent thing; at present, it's hormone related. I hope!

ADHD - no need to be sorry; wasn't you that tried to feed him. Might have been me... might have been a nurse.. who knows. I know I stopped when he seemed to be fighting it, though I did not re the cuttin of his finger and toe nails. He screamed like a banshee when I was doing that, since the nurses tried and could not. I had to be so firm with him (as in sitting on him) that I thought I may well have broken fingers and toes. I hadn't, but the nails flaked off in all directions. Not an episode I will easily forget.
(((((hugs))))), jac
Thanks, pam.xxx

Incidentally, Elizabeth II, our Queen in UK hasn't changed her hairstyle for 50 years. She is one stubborn Taurean lady! Yes, I guess it is the best thing for all the cr5/20s etc., she has to have on her head... and now we spin off into familychat over that earlier... ' She could appear with a Mohican.' Both of my kids said that separately. I think she should have a transverse Mohican sprayed gold with jewels on it. That would shock the nation into action!
